Creators of Ceramics
Ceramics; from Porcelain, to Pottery
Royal Ontario Museum
A ceramic is defined as a solid, inorganic and non metallic object, most commonly pottery, which is
made by using heat to permanently harden clay or other similar materials. In this tour, you will learn
about the similarities and differences between the ceramics in six different ancient worlds including
Ancient Egypt and Nubia, Bronze Age Aegean, Byzantium, China, Greece, and Rome, in which the
latter three were especially known for their ceramics.
Upon entering the first gallery of China, we spot a blue and white porcelain wine pot and dish sitting

Essay on Kristen s Cookie Company
1. How long will it take you to fill a rush order?
Order Size 1 Dozen: 6 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 2 + 1 = 26 minutes
Order Size 2 Dozen: 26 + 1 + 9 = 36 minutes
Order Size 3 Dozen: 36 + 1 + 9 = 46 minutes
2. How many orders can you fill in a night, assuming that you are open four hours each night?
4 hours = 240 minutes
Bottleneck is the oven (setting and baking), which takes 10 minutes
Must account for the 8 minutes required to prepare prior to baking (wash/mix/spoon) the first batch
Must account for the 8 minutes required to complete (cooling/accept payment/packaging) the final
batch
240 8 8 = 224 minutes available for bottleneck usage

This represents 1 labor minute per cookie (12 labor minutes / 12 cookies) ii. 2 Dozen

b. 7 minutes by roommate: set oven (2 minutes), package (4 minutes), and accept payment (1 minute)
This represents 0.71 labor minutes per cookie (17 labor minutes / 24 cookies)
This means that there was a 29% reduction in labor (1 0.71), which means that it cost us 29% less in
labor. Therefore, we can discount the price of 2 dozen up to 29% and still make at least the same
amount of money as we would if we were to sell the 2 dozen separately (in separate orders) iii. 3

Theme Of Politics And The English Language By George Orwell
George Orwell s 1946 essay, Politics and the English Language, brings forth themes of deception,
honesty, and political bias through the eyes of the author himself. Orwell begins the narrative by
refuting standard assumptions of the English Language, and that language is a reflection of the shape
of society. Our civilization is decadent and our language so the argument runs must inevitably share in
the general collapse (127). The essay s deeper concerns of how language is shifting and perhaps
limiting expression are troubling yet serves as a reminder of Orwell s Newspeak in 1984. Orwell s
extensive use of metaphors, similes, and imagery depict his growing concerns of contemporary
writing styles.
Orwell s introduction gives insight into his beliefs of the collapse of the English language through his
distaste for meaningless words. Most people who bother with the matter at all would admit that the
English language is in a bad way, but it is generally assumed that we cannot by conscious action do
anything about it (127). He argues that English is a tool and its erosion is human made rather than a
natural process. Orwell further suggests simplifying language without convoluting the meaning.
Complex words such as loquacious or ebullient could be better understood by readers if simplified to
talkative or cheerful. The essay begins to shift its focus from Orwell s view of contemporary English
to bringing five examples of written pieces that exemplify the prior

Van Gogh And Olive Christ In The Garden Of Olives
Van Gogh got excited over the look of these trees and painted them. Some of his paintings of the trees
represented life, others represented how he felt about Christ in Gethsemane, and others represented a
combination of both of these things. An example of an art piece that had a lot to do with religion was
Olive Trees with Alpilles in the Background (Fig. 6). This piece was painted with Christ in
Gethsemane in mind. He wanted to create a piece that used a more purer and serence sense of nature
without using religious imagery. With this piece he wanted to show it was possible to paint the
meaning of Christ in the Garden of Olives, the garden of Gethsemane where Christ prayed the night
before his crucifixion, without aiming straight for the historical Garden of Gethsemane. Vincent had
done religious paintings before, he actually painted Christ in the arden of Olives twice before, but both
times he decided not to paint the images of Christ since, as he said in a letter to his brother Theo, he
did not want to do figures of such importance without a model. Van Gogh actually had begun to avoid
doing religious work around this time for both aesthetic and moral reasons. Van Gogh had rejected
what he believed to be his parents narrow religionious views and went for a much different view, one
where life itself almost didn t seem to matter of have purpose, something close to Nihilism. Vincent
instead tried to find meaning in the cycles of nature and how they related to the

Tilikum s The Killer Whale
The story of Tilikum,The Killer Whale is truly a gut wrenching tale of how being put in an undesirable
place can truly change the core of your being. Unlike how many people perceive killer whales,Tilikum
was a gentle giant. He was born just right of the cost of British Columbia and was part of a loving
community of other killer whales. Tilikum was an eccentric, playful, and docile baby whale. He would
swim for days with his pack, playing around with the other baby whales and cuddling up with his
parents whom he loved so much. All of that changed the day he was taken away from his pack by a
group of ruthless humans. The morning after Tilikum s capture, he found himself in a glass box, no

The French Revolution Was Inspired By The Ideas From The...
The French Revolution was inspired by the ideas from the Enlightenment. The main goal that the
Enlightenment tried to reach was to promote scientific reasoning and end the injustice in the way
governments were performing. The French Revolution was mainly a series of upheaving s aiming to
gain social and political reforms, along with ways to govern more justly. Due to the previous era,
being the Enlightenment, French Revolutionists saw that Enlightenment participants, such as
Rousseau, Voltaire, Robspierre ,and Beccaria, along with works such as Declaration of the Rights of
Man and multiple posters, took a step towards new reforms and follow in their path and ideas. These
French Revolutionists succeeded in some ways, yet remained unsuccessful in more ways. Document 1
from Jean Jacques Rousseau concludes that a man needs to control his own freedoms. Rousseau, a
philosopher, believed in a Republic because he believed that people need to have more power and
individual freedoms must be improved. In his Social Contract, he calls for a sovereign, which will
benefit the good of an individual, but even better the overall group with intentions that aim for the
common good. A need for a change in government was wanted because a monarch rule was not
wanted. A new type of government, a provisional republic formed after King Louis Philippe was
abdicated, gave universal male suffrage and ended slavery and the death penalty. Those reforms were

The type of this book is action, mystery. The plot of the story takes place in Peru, South America.

Hallucinogenic Drug Addiction
Human life is mostly a collection of sensations and perceptions, the byproduct of our interactions with
our environment as we do the things necessary for survival. Much of our success in life seems to
depend on accurately perceiving the dangers and opportunities we are presented with. In the modern
age of information processing, we are more dependent than ever on the perceptive capacity of our
brains. By using hallucinogenic drugs, a person intentionally alters their brain s ability to accurately
perceive the stimuli it receives, producing an altered state of consciousness in which they have
experiences with little or no basis in reality. There are many documented risks and side effects
associated with the abuse of these drugs. (National Institute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Social Change And Public Policy
The study of sociology is an idea interpreted as social change and public policy. This social change is
heavily influenced in Laredo, Texas because of the demanding change in urban society. Additionally,
this change is operated by Laredo citizen s concerned with the system of charter and public schools on
how classical music has disappeared as a necessity of the learning structure for students. Not only has
classical music been completely erased from the school system, it has caused student s grades to suffer
and also to do poorly on standardized tests such as state tests or college level entry exams. Classical
music is a necessity for all life and by taking away one of the educational system s best fields of
learning, it creates a difficult social issue to handle, especially for students. Although society is always
on the verge of implementing the idea of social change, taking away a necessity is not going to create
a pathway to success. By applying classical music to everyday life as a student, it helps stimulate daily
activity in the brain, helps relate music to certain issues, and create a compassionate sense for music.
Particularly in Laredo, classical music has seen as a downfall inside and outside of the educational
settings. The pathway the city is going through, is great, a lot of change has occurred in the urban and
rural areas of town, not to mention the booming industries of small businesses. With this being
mentioned, citizens can notice that Laredo is no

The Dab Research Paper
Somebody stop this madness! No, I m not talking about the presidency; that essay would exede the
three page limit. Rather, I m talking about a foolish trend that became a worldwide phenomena in
2016 and somehow managed to also sneak its way into 2017. Who would have thought that a simple
dance move like the Dab could cause an even bigger uproar than the president. The Dab found itself
more popular on social media than Donald Trump s 3 am tweets. In fact, the Dab has managed to find
a foothold worldwide. Yet, the general public does not truly understand what the Dab represents. Yet
the questions remains, what even is the Dab? The world watched as the ball dropped in times square

One of the main perpetrators of the Dab comes not from the dancing scene but from the world of
sports. The Dab had only been a popular as a dance move but as Cam Newton embraced the Dab as
his new iconic touchdown celebration, its popularity skyrocketed. Cam Newton became the iconic
representation of the Dab as the Carolina Panthers rode an almost perfect season only falling short in
the 2016 Superbowl. To them, the Dab originally symbolized their success as a team throughout the
season and eventually their humiliation to the Denver Broncos following their defeat in the Super
Bowl. Soon people of all ages adapted the Dab into their own celebrations. Cam Newton isn t the only
person in the sports world that accounted for the global spread of the Dab. While Newton s dance
move created a phenomenon in america, soccer spread the Dab to the rest of the world. In a similar
manner to cam newton, soccer players expressed their joy of scoring a goal by bringing out the Dab.
Soon people all around the globe had caught onto this ridiculous fad. For these sports players, the Dab
does not signify their respect towards the hip hop world of America. Infact, because the Dab became
so popular in the world many people often became antagonized at its usage. As a result, Cam Newton
and other sports players often used their celebration to assert their dominance over the other team. The
Dab often was another method trash talk and way for players to get under their opponent s

Social Behavior In Edgar Allan Poe s Life
What makes a human being a human? What shapes us into human beings? Humans are defined
through their life s experiences; it is what shapes a person s personality and can even affect the mark
they leave on the world. Life s tragedies or triumphs can decide whether a person grows up to be a
famous athlete, criminal, or a dark horror writer like Edgar Allan Poe. Because of the numerous deaths
of people he loved, including his mother, and adopted mother and wife, his drinking problem, and the
deep riff with his father, a perfect storm brewed in the mind of Edgar Allan Poe, who created some of
the most haunting stories ever written. Child psychologist Dr. Jalali writes, The foundation of the child

It was full of anger and hatred, affecting the already damaged Poe. In fact the Globe and Mail states,
men who on days where they have a stressful situation are more reactive to it they re more likely to be
in a bad mood and have higher levels of psychological stress . This fact coupled with all the death and
loss Poe had experienced through his life, set Poe on a dark, morbid path. His real father had died, but
not before his father had abandoned his family and was adopted by John Allan, who harbored hatred
for Poe. John believed Poe was an ungrateful punk who was taking advantage of his hospitality. Even
after Poe had amassed a huge debt, he refused to pay it and to help him out anymore. Allan cut Poe off
from his money and forced Poe to drop out of college. In order to get back into his step father s good
graces, Poe enrolled in West Point but was soon dishonorably discharged after Poe purposely tried to
get kicked out, separating John and Poe even more until Allan disowned him saying he wanted no
further communication with yourself on my part (American National Biography) effectively killing
their relationship and worsening Poe s state of mind. Overall, the tragic losses, drinking problem, and
relationship with his step father enabled Edgar Allan Poe to write the most eerie and sinister works of
literature. Our experiences in life affect who we are and what we do as people, and the hardships

The government was more interested in customs duties that they may generate from these incoming
goods, than in the control and regulation of the arrival and stay of foreigners. The functions of
immigration remained under the said bureau until 1937, when it was transferred again as a division
under the Bureau of Labor. This was mainly to respond to the arrival of Chinese nationals who owned
and operated trade houses, stores, and restaurants in the country. On 22 January 1940, the Second
National Assembly of the Philippine Commonwealth enacted the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940

Later, its administrative control was returned to the Office of the President. When the Pacific war

Nail Polish Industry Analysis
Introduction and Background
The US nail polish industry has a total revenue of $1.1 billion and a profit of $118.4 million in 2012,
with an annual growth of 2.3% in 2007 2012 and a projected annual growth of 3.3% from 2012 2017
(Panteva). The nail polish industry is able to survive the recession because they are sold at low prices,
starting at a retail price of lower than $5 to $10 for professional grade nail polishes at drugstores
(Panteva). Unlike other consumer goods, consumers are not as inclined to limit their purchase of nail
polish, due to low prices.

Nail polish manufacturers experience moderate indirect competition from acrylic nails, artificial nails
and nail extensions, which imitates the effects of nail polish without applying any nail polish
(Barbalova). However, there is a surge in demand of acrylic nails and could lead to a decrease in
demand for nail polish.
The nail polish industry has moderate barriers to entry. Coty and Revlon dominate 63.6% of the
market and both corporations compete in the global market (Panteva). As a global corporation Coty
and Revlon highly benefits from economies of scale, which allowed them to acquire several smaller
firms. In addition, both firms have existing marketing and promotional activities and the public
recognized the acquired firms. The manufacturing process of nail polishes requires a high level of
capital and is extremely technical. The industry is also facing increased regulations from the Food and

from harmful substances in nail polishes. A recent investigation by the California Department of Toxic

linked to birth defects and asthma (Sole Smith). As a result, the industry is facing increased scrutiny
from the government. For new firms to survive in the industry,

The Evolution Of A Gentleman

The Evolution of a Gentleman
Confucianism is based off of many diverse concepts, some of which are the junzi and the xiaoren.
These terms have been widely interpreted throughout time, and make up most of this concept. In order
to understand Confucianism, one must first understand the significance of these two notions. A junzi
(gentleman) and xiaoren (small man) are very important aspects of Confucianism and have distinct
meanings, qualities, and modern day societal attributes. While a junzi (gentleman) is defined one way
by Confucius, a xiaoren (small man) would be considered the contrary. As defined by Confucius, a
gentleman is an individual who lives by a moral code, not motivated by gain, but by what is right. A
small man is the complete opposite. A small man is an individual who lives to benefit and for selfish
reasons. Confucius states that gentlemen lead others through their actions demonstrated through:
When gentlemen perform well, all their duties to their relations, the people are inspired to virtue
(Chichung).1 Gentlemen are very selfless, unlike small men, and strive to be better men and better
citizens. People in turn strive to be like a gentleman. In early interpretations, a gentleman was viewed
as inherently superior to a small man and seen as a prince. The later interpretation translated it, not as
a ruler, but as a moral person who leads by his actions and honor. Society is built up by gentlemen and

Suburban Expansion
Everyone can take notice to the cookie cutter housing that is springing up with every new
neighborhood. This suburban utopia that is rapidly expanding from dense cities is great for families,
but there are downfalls attached to these type of development. With neighborhoods quickly turning
rural areas into suburban havens, there is less room to farm; which eventually leads to over farming
and mineral leaching of the soil, as well as widening the gap that people have of their knowledge of
where their food comes from.
With this suburban expansion, there is a lack of agricultural land, because the available land that was
normally used to farm is being bought up by developers to create new housing and communities.
Over farming the soil explains the depleted of viral nutrients that are needed to support plant growth
that causes decreased plant output and production. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With such a widening gap between rural and suburban environments due to suburban expansion, it

Philip Zimbardo s Temptation Of Evil
Zimbardo raises the question what happens to average, ordinary human beings that make them turn to
the dark side of human nature. Within his book he uses research as well as many examples to show a
showcase of studies and experiments in which an individual(s) are lured to the dark side due to the
situation they are in and other affecting elements. As well as listing evidence from historical events,
Zimbardo also writes about how we can shut down the temptation to give in to evil. The book may
have a name for a difficult read just because many can t believe the simplicity of evil behavior.
Zimbardo s purpose of this novel is to illuminate the idea of how easy it is to give in to the temptation
of evil. A great number of our societies individuals moral views are based on their religion which
make them very narrow minded to the topic of temptation of evil. Zimbardo tries to open people s
mind to make them see how evil may not be born into an individual but created from the environment
they are in. Philip Zimbardo uses a section of the book to speak about his famous Stanford Prison
Experiment which supported his thesis of evil being created through the individual s ... Show more

place in the incidents that occured and brought up some questions that reference with Unit 3:
Developmental Psychology. Overall Zimbardo s book has a great affect on expanding the minds of

Nwabueze | Skype versus AT amp;T and the Future of Telecommunications | 4/8/2012 | Prepared by:

Executive Summary
This report was written to analyze the competition among the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
industry segment, especially as it relates to the relationship between Skype and AT amp;T and the
competition between the VoIP market and the land line market. In analyzing this segment we found
that VoIP is a growing industry in what has historically been predominately a land line
telecommunication company such as AT amp;T.
The industry segment is faced with a rivalry type competitive market that is ... Show more content on

With a roughly 5 percent market share by the end of 2010, VoIP was still a small competitor in the
industry.
A major opportunity for VoIP providers was to capitalize on the cellular market. Experts predicted
that, by 2019, half of all mobile calls would be over IP networks. The IP connections would be
available through VoIP applications that ran through a cellular device. Mobile VoIP applications are
expected to reach 278 million users, generating a $32.2 billion profit.
What does the five forces analysis reveal about the chances for profitability in the VoIP industry?3
1. Current sellers competing in the market * It s been good times to be a VoIP user, and bad ones to be
Skype. * To a great extent, up until now Skype has had a lock on the consumer P2P VoIP market, and
even though it s recent move into business VoIP hasn t been universally well received, things looked
rosy for the company in that market as well. * But a trio of competitors makes the future less rosy for
Skype. Yahoo, the well financed startup Jajah, and the big Web site Lycos have all released no cost or
low cost VoIP P2P solutions recently, attempting to muscle in on Skype.
2. Threat of new competitors market entry * Possibly the most intriguing of the group is the European
based Jajah. The service requires no client to

Hodgkin s Disease Research Paper
Risk Factors Scientists have found a number of risk factors that may influence the probability of
someone getting Hodgkin s disease, but it is still not clear how these factors increase the risk (4). For
example, some researchers think that infections with the Epstein Barr virus may sometimes cause
damage to the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in the B lymphocytes, which leads to the creation of
Reed Sternberg cells (4). DNA is the set of instructions sent to the genes that dictates cell functions.
Some genes are responsible for controlling when cells grow, divide, and die (4). Genes that assist the

The reasons for the establishment of Muslim league are as follows:
1. INDIFFERENT ATTITUDE OF THE CONGRESS TOWARDS MUSLIMS:
All India National Congress was dominantly Hindu body from scratch. Their interests were always

Summary Of Troubling Clarity
Another important research issue that is important in the research process is the writing style and the
use of language. In her work Troubling Clarity: The Politics of Accessible Language , Patti Lather

make a message more or less accessible. To this end, Lather discusses her experimental approach of
writing research. In this approach, she attempts to write a text with multiple voices and one that can

The question of based on multiple texts/ entertainment ( movies, TV) how has the meaning or
requirements for the island archetype change throughout time has been answered throughout this
paper. Let s break this down one more time. From the nature of the island archetype we can see that
C.G Jung created this for insight on a character which probably is a reason why many of today s origin
stories model after this archetype. The Odyssey and the TV show Arrow were clearly made in seperate
times, and although they have differences, the two stories share similarities, so just look at how the
characters develop. Yes they develop at different times, but the way is basicly the same. The two
Batman stories really show a difference, we see a major emotional change from a confident playboy
millionaire to a angery almost murderer. Finally, we sum this up and see that the island archetype
origin story is basically essential to a character s development. C.G Jung painted the way for literature
for growth and new ideas, but he didn t realize that his idea, the island archetype was the revolutionary
idea that used the entire paint can of the

William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116
Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare and What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why by
Edna St. Vincent Millay are both sonnets that discuss companionship and a glimpse of the poets
experiences. In Sonnet 116 , Shakespeare illustrates how capability is weakened by its metaphysical
stereotype and ideals such as, love which never seems to wither away according to Shakespeare while
on the contrary, in What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why Millay feeds on the chaos
between the ideal of love and its harsh reality, heartbreak. Both poets seem to be love struck but there
is a significant difference in the two. I will compare and contrast Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare
and What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why by Edna St. Vincent Millay. I will also
inquire and analyze why this particular form of poetry established different effects.
What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why and Sonnet 116 are, in fact, two different
sonnets. What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why is a Petrarchan or Italian sonnet; Due
to the fact, that this sonnet has a rhyme scheme that divides the first eight lines from the last six lines.
By dividing the poem, the rhyme scheme helps to emphasize the theme. The overall theme of the
poem is loss, which occurred in the past. Since the rhyme scheme is divided into two parts; the first
part uses the metaphor of lovers while the second part uses the metaphor of a tree. On the

The Effects Of Global Warming On The Earth
Presently, climate change is one of the largest threats to the Earth, and all recent research points to an
anthropogenic cause. As humans burn fossil fuels, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases enter
the atmosphere where they remain at unprecedented levels. As a result, greenhouse gases absorb
infrared radiation emitted by the Earth and trap the radiation as heat, which should have left the
atmosphere and entered outer space. This heat causes a gradual increase in the average temperature of
the oceans and atmosphere, which scientists believe is permanently changing the climate of the Earth.
Global warming is already greatly altering the surface of the planet, with many observable effects that
include sea level rise, droughts, species loss, glacier melt, and ocean acidification (U.S. National
Aeronautics and Space Administration 2016b). Recent studies also indicate that global warming is
also responsible for altering the frequency and intensity of tropical cyclones. Observation has pointed
towards warming ocean temperatures as responsible for fueling stronger hurricanes and the creation of
fewer storms annually. This phenomenon is of concern due to the historically immense damage caused
by high intensity tropical cyclones. A tropical cyclone is a low pressure system that typically forms in
the tropics, and is frequently accompanied by thunderstorms, heavy rain, and wind speeds as high as
190 miles per hour (Ahrens 2015). This type of storm system begins with a

The research is a technique that includes discovery, study, testing hypothesis, gathering information
and explaining phenomenon by using science as a method.
The researchers during the exploration, investigation or research usually use different kinds of
research methods like qualitative and quantitative methods. Each method depends on the assigned
task, discipline, research question, budget and many other factors. For example, in disciplines that are
entirely scientific such as chemistry, quantum mechanics or physics the quantitative research method
is usually applied but in other disciplines such as psychology, zoology or botany the qualitative
research method is usually applied. The formal definition of the both methods is following, the ...

Candide by Voltaire Essay example
Voltaire was the author of the novella Candide, also known as Optimism . The the novella, Voltaire
portrays the idea of Optimism as being illogical and absurd. In Candide, Voltaire satirizes the doctrine
of Optimism, an idea that was greatly used during the Enlightenment time period by philosophers. In
this narrative, Candide is a young man who goes through a series of undertakings and ventures around
the the globe where he experiences evil and adversity. Throughout his journeys, Candide maintained
the ideas of the teachings of his tutor, Pangloss. Candide and Pangloss believed in the idea that All is
for the best in the best of all possible worlds... (Voltaire 4). This belief is what Voltaire pointed out to

To Voltaire, this type of optimism was foolish.
Even though many people practiced this doctrine Voltaire did not aside with it instead, he implanted
doubts on the chances of achieving true happiness and real conformism. Voltaire s opinion was that
one could not achieve true happiness in the real world but only experience it in an utopia. With the
many hardships that Candide goes through ultimately leads him to abandon his attitude of optimism.
Candide s misfortunes and adversities often contrasted with his optimistic view on life. Noticeably,
Voltaire uses this satirical piece as a way to criticize this exaggerated optimism. This tale as stated by
William Bottiglia, Has had a great effect on modern writers who confront mankind s inhumanity to
fellow human beings by presenting the human condition absurdly, ironically, and humorously...
(Bottiglia 112).
The theme of criticism the best of all possible worlds is present through the whole story. Throughout
the novel, Voltaire uses optimism satire to contrast with the catastrophes and human affliction in the
story. When Candide finds a moribund and sick Pangloss, Candide asks who is at fault for his tragedy
and Pangloss replies that The disease was a necessity in this the best of all possible worlds , for it was
brought to Europe by Columbus men, who also brought chocolate and cochineal, two greater goods
that well offset any negative effects of the disease, (Voltaire 17). With all the

Fundamental Elements to Consider When Making Medical...

fundamental elements an individual is to consider when making medical decisions. Following the
Canadian legal system, adults who understand the consequences of their medical choice have the

That is the idea of an individual being a self proprietor. The Canadian common law acknowledged that

The Need Of Cellular Reproduction
Essentially if a species were not able to reproduce, that species would quickly become extinct.
Cellular reproduction is the process by which all living things produce new organisms similar or
identical to themselves (O neil, 2014). The need of cellular reproduction is key to any further
techniques with biotechnology and genetic modification. Always, reproduction consists of a basic
pattern of the conversion by a parent organism of raw materials into offspring or cells that will later
develop into offspring. Sexual reproduction and growth repair maintain all species lives.
Beginning with a cell, which is the smallest structure known to man, cells are able to grow and
reproduce. Cells reproduce by splitting and passing on their genes to daughter cells. The nucleus
always divides before the rest of the cell divides. Therefore, each daughter cell contains their own
nucleus. The nucleus controls the cell s activities through the genetic material DNA. The cells in a
body are all the same except the gametes they were all made from one cell, the zygote. The cells are
needed in order for cellular reproduction to occur. ( Cell 1:1)
Cellular reproduction keeps species from extinction. Reproduction consists of a basic pattern of
conversion. The reproductive process, whether asexual or sexual always involves an exchange in
hereditary material from the parents so that the new organism may also be able to reproduce. Cells are
constantly dying and being replaced by identical cells. In

Preamble Persuasive Essay
The Preamble is an encouraging document. I believe the tone of the writing is determined and
idealistic. The government might not do things for us. For America to be free, people have to be

the Congress has the most power. First, I think this because the Congress makes the laws. Secondly,
the Congress can impeach the people that serve for the United States. Lastly, the Congress can amend

The first subclaim I think would defend my claim is that the Congress makes the laws. I used articles
to find evidence to backup my claim. In the articles it stated that the Congress makes the laws then the
president approves and executes them. Which in my words means that the congress makes the laws
and the president says it s okay. This is one subclaim that I used to maintain my claim that the

Break Down Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are one of the main types of macronutrients that move throughout the digestive system.
Starting inside of the mouth, the carbohydrate travels through the body until it gets broken down. The
mouth has two forms of digestion, mechanical or chemical. Mechanical digestion includes chewing
food, while chemical digestion uses saliva. The salivary glands belong to the accessory organs of the
digestive tract, but play a very important role in digestion. They produce amylase, which breaks down
the starch amylose and amylopectin into smaller portions. Breaking down starch, is an example of
where chemical digestion occurs in the mouth. When carbohydrates go through the esophagus,
mechanical digestion takes place by the use of peristalsis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fiber is the only remaining carbohydrate that travels inside of the large intestine. The body eliminates
the leftover fiber in stool. Just like carbohydrates, fats also travel through the digestive tract. The only
organ not involved with fats is the large intestine. Beginning in the mouth, chemical digestion occurs
due to the lingual lipase melting some of the fat in the food. Once the food enters the esophagus,
chemical and mechanical digestion takes place. Like discussed earlier, peristalsis mixes the food, but
in this case it involves mixing the fat with gastric juices. Chemically, gastric lipase breaks down the
fats. Before the fat can move to the small intestine, a few important accessory organs play a role with
fat and bile. Bile is produced in the liver, and then sent to the gallbladder. Once in the gallbladder, the
bile gets released into the small intestine. The small intestine, helps the bile emulsify the fat into small
globules. Lastly, pancreatic lipase, from the pancreas breaks down the fats into monoglycerides,
glycerol, and free fatty

  • 4. Theme Of Politics And The English Language By George Orwell George Orwell s 1946 essay, Politics and the English Language, brings forth themes of deception, honesty, and political bias through the eyes of the author himself. Orwell begins the narrative by refuting standard assumptions of the English Language, and that language is a reflection of the shape of society. Our civilization is decadent and our language so the argument runs must inevitably share in the general collapse (127). The essay s deeper concerns of how language is shifting and perhaps limiting expression are troubling yet serves as a reminder of Orwell s Newspeak in 1984. Orwell s extensive use of metaphors, similes, and imagery depict his growing concerns of contemporary writing styles. Orwell s introduction gives insight into his beliefs of the collapse of the English language through his distaste for meaningless words. Most people who bother with the matter at all would admit that the English language is in a bad way, but it is generally assumed that we cannot by conscious action do anything about it (127). He argues that English is a tool and its erosion is human made rather than a natural process. Orwell further suggests simplifying language without convoluting the meaning. Complex words such as loquacious or ebullient could be better understood by readers if simplified to talkative or cheerful. The essay begins to shift its focus from Orwell s view of contemporary English to bringing five examples of written pieces that exemplify the prior ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Van Gogh And Olive Christ In The Garden Of Olives Van Gogh got excited over the look of these trees and painted them. Some of his paintings of the trees represented life, others represented how he felt about Christ in Gethsemane, and others represented a combination of both of these things. An example of an art piece that had a lot to do with religion was Olive Trees with Alpilles in the Background (Fig. 6). This piece was painted with Christ in Gethsemane in mind. He wanted to create a piece that used a more purer and serence sense of nature without using religious imagery. With this piece he wanted to show it was possible to paint the meaning of Christ in the Garden of Olives, the garden of Gethsemane where Christ prayed the night before his crucifixion, without aiming straight for the historical Garden of Gethsemane. Vincent had done religious paintings before, he actually painted Christ in the arden of Olives twice before, but both times he decided not to paint the images of Christ since, as he said in a letter to his brother Theo, he did not want to do figures of such importance without a model. Van Gogh actually had begun to avoid doing religious work around this time for both aesthetic and moral reasons. Van Gogh had rejected what he believed to be his parents narrow religionious views and went for a much different view, one where life itself almost didn t seem to matter of have purpose, something close to Nihilism. Vincent instead tried to find meaning in the cycles of nature and how they related to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tilikum was an eccentric, playful, and docile baby whale. He would swim for days with his pack, playing around with the other baby whales and cuddling up with his parents whom he loved so much. • 7. The French Revolution Was Inspired By The Ideas From The... The French Revolution was inspired by the ideas from the Enlightenment. The main goal that the Enlightenment tried to reach was to promote scientific reasoning and end the injustice in the way governments were performing. The French Revolution was mainly a series of upheaving s aiming to gain social and political reforms, along with ways to govern more justly. Due to the previous era, being the Enlightenment, French Revolutionists saw that Enlightenment participants, such as Rousseau, Voltaire, Robspierre ,and Beccaria, along with works such as Declaration of the Rights of Man and multiple posters, took a step towards new reforms and follow in their path and ideas. These French Revolutionists succeeded in some ways, yet remained unsuccessful in more ways. Document 1 from Jean Jacques Rousseau concludes that a man needs to control his own freedoms. Rousseau, a philosopher, believed in a Republic because he believed that people need to have more power and individual freedoms must be improved. These terms have been widely interpreted throughout time, and make up most of this concept. In order to understand Confucianism, one must first understand the significance of these two notions. A junzi (gentleman) and xiaoren (small man) are very important aspects of Confucianism and have distinct meanings, qualities, and modern day societal attributes. While a junzi (gentleman) is defined one way by Confucius, a xiaoren (small man) would be considered the contrary. As defined by Confucius, a gentleman is an individual who lives by a moral code, not motivated by gain, but by what is right. A small man is the complete opposite. A small man is an individual who lives to benefit and for selfish reasons. Confucius states that gentlemen lead others through their actions demonstrated through: When gentlemen perform well, all their duties to their relations, the people are inspired to virtue (Chichung).1 Gentlemen are very selfless, unlike small men, and strive to be better men and better citizens. People in turn strive to be like a gentleman. In early interpretations, a gentleman was viewed as inherently superior to a small man and seen as a prince. The later interpretation translated it, not as a ruler, but as a moral person who leads by his actions and honor. Society is built up by gentlemen and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will also inquire and analyze why this particular form of poetry established different effects. What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why and Sonnet 116 are, in fact, two different sonnets. What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why is a Petrarchan or Italian sonnet; Due to the fact, that this sonnet has a rhyme scheme that divides the first eight lines from the last six lines. By dividing the poem, the rhyme scheme helps to emphasize the theme. The overall theme of the poem is loss, which occurred in the past. Since the rhyme scheme is divided into two parts; the first part uses the metaphor of lovers while the second part uses the metaphor of a tree. On the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Effects Of Global Warming On The Earth Presently, climate change is one of the largest threats to the Earth, and all recent research points to an anthropogenic cause. As humans burn fossil fuels, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases enter the atmosphere where they remain at unprecedented levels. As a result, greenhouse gases absorb infrared radiation emitted by the Earth and trap the radiation as heat, which should have left the atmosphere and entered outer space. This heat causes a gradual increase in the average temperature of the oceans and atmosphere, which scientists believe is permanently changing the climate of the Earth. Global warming is already greatly altering the surface of the planet, with many observable effects that include sea level rise, droughts, species loss, glacier melt, and ocean acidification (U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration 2016b). Recent studies also indicate that global warming is also responsible for altering the frequency and intensity of tropical cyclones. Observation has pointed towards warming ocean temperatures as responsible for fueling stronger hurricanes and the creation of fewer storms annually. This phenomenon is of concern due to the historically immense damage caused by high intensity tropical cyclones. A tropical cyclone is a low pressure system that typically forms in the tropics, and is frequently accompanied by thunderstorms, heavy rain, and wind speeds as high as 190 miles per hour (Ahrens 2015). This type of storm system begins with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cellular reproduction is the process by which all living things produce new organisms similar or identical to themselves (O neil, 2014). The need of cellular reproduction is key to any further techniques with biotechnology and genetic modification. Always, reproduction consists of a basic pattern of the conversion by a parent organism of raw materials into offspring or cells that will later develop into offspring. Sexual reproduction and growth repair maintain all species lives. Beginning with a cell, which is the smallest structure known to man, cells are able to grow and reproduce. Cells reproduce by splitting and passing on their genes to daughter cells. The nucleus always divides before the rest of the cell divides. Therefore, each daughter cell contains their own nucleus. The nucleus controls the cell s activities through the genetic material DNA. The cells in a body are all the same except the gametes they were all made from one cell, the zygote. The cells are needed in order for cellular reproduction to occur. ( Cell 1:1) Cellular reproduction keeps species from extinction. Reproduction consists of a basic pattern of conversion. The reproductive process, whether asexual or sexual always involves an exchange in hereditary material from the parents so that the new organism may also be able to reproduce. Starting inside of the mouth, the carbohydrate travels through the body until it gets broken down. The mouth has two forms of digestion, mechanical or chemical. Mechanical digestion includes chewing food, while chemical digestion uses saliva. The salivary glands belong to the accessory organs of the digestive tract, but play a very important role in digestion. They produce amylase, which breaks down the starch amylose and amylopectin into smaller portions. Breaking down starch, is an example of where chemical digestion occurs in the mouth. When carbohydrates go through the esophagus, mechanical digestion takes place by the use of peristalsis. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fiber is the only remaining carbohydrate that travels inside of the large intestine. The body eliminates the leftover fiber in stool. Just like carbohydrates, fats also travel through the digestive tract. The only organ not involved with fats is the large intestine. Beginning in the mouth, chemical digestion occurs due to the lingual lipase melting some of the fat in the food. Once the food enters the esophagus, chemical and mechanical digestion takes place. Like discussed earlier, peristalsis mixes the food, but in this case it involves mixing the fat with gastric juices. Chemically, gastric lipase breaks down the fats. Before the fat can move to the small intestine, a few important accessory organs play a role with fat and bile. Bile is produced in the liver, and then sent to the gallbladder. Once in the gallbladder, the bile gets released into the small intestine. The small intestine, helps the bile emulsify the fat into small globules. Lastly, pancreatic lipase, from the pancreas breaks down the fats into monoglycerides, glycerol, and free fatty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
