Executive Summary
In order to develop an effective marketing plan a company must understand its best and current
customers. Smart Card LLC, the experts on card solutions, enables companies to perfect frequency
marketing. In the past, loyalty programs have been difficult to implement. Smart Card LLC has
overcome those obstacles and created a one of a kind product that lessen the costs, lowers
complexity, and minimizes bookkeeping; all required to implement a successful loyalty program.

The company s target market is a mass of retail and other industries. They designed their product to
be a one size fits all with the flexibility to match benefits to any consumer. In general, retailers are
the prime candidates for this type of product, however not segmenting further will hinder the
execution of a marketing strategy and overall profitability. A deeper analysis into the target market
is necessary. Problem Statement
Does the company know the size of the market?
Smart Card LLC has failed to correctly identify its target market and understand its size. They want
their product to appeal to the masses. Successfully implementing a one size fits all product without
a specific marketing scheme is likely to fail.
Smart Card LLC did not specify its pricing strategy. A comparison of price strategies with the
competition was not discussed either. One aspect not considered is that smart card users will need
to update their current technology in order to benefit from the company s product. This could
require significant capital which only specific company s would be willing to pay. This severely
limits the potential market size and must be factored into its pricing plan.
Another interesting company decision is the use of regional sales force in the promotion process.
By placing its sales force into regions the company is asking them to sell to both small and large
firms alike. Salespeople with little experience

Research Paper On Left Handedness
Introduction
To begin my research I had to decide on a topic. Using a lotus diagram, I came up with 9 possible
enquiry areas of interest to me and narrowed this down to one by deciding which worked best
and interested me most. I decided on researching left handedness. I then had to decide on a topic
within the area and influenced by my love of science I landed on my research question: In what
ways, physically and psychologically are right handers different to left handers and what causes
this?
Research Processes
After deciding on a topic I brainstormed ideas for primary and secondary sources. An obvious
choice for secondary sources was the internet. There were many articles explaining left handedness,
providing theories for its occurrence and outlining differences present between left handers and
right handers. I narrowed my search to articles directly relevant to my topic. I wanted other
secondary sources (so I went onto the SA library website, where I searched for books relevant to
my research question) and found 2 books that became very valuable resources: Right Hand, Left
Hand by Chris McManus, a Professor of Psychology, specialising in handedness and A left hand
turn around the world, by David Wolman which explained his journey to discover all he could
about left handedness. These resources provided me with diverse knowledge about the causes and
history of left handedness. Right Hand, Left Hand was especially valuable as it introduced me to

Udhr s Article On Lgbt Rights
Article on lgbt rights. Is acceptance of one s sexuality as important as other issues like poverty,
unemployment, global warming, natural disasters and proper health solutions for Ebola, Lyme that
put our survival itself at risk? When meditating on this question, let us also analyse our own sexual
fabric. We set the standards of our own yardsticks to measure a sexual identity as valid/ invalid,
normal/ abnormal, natural/ unnatural, acceptable/ unacceptable, moral/ immoral and finally good
/ bad. Perhaps, upon these standards we define and adopt a sexual identity that belongs to a
privileged position. One tends to overlook these privileges and rights that are available for
heterosexual people. On the other hand, the gayand lesbian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The country can proudly claim the progressive and radical shifts made in response to the demands
of lgbt community. Why even in the twenty first century people have to fight for equal rights as
they encounter discriminations based on sexual attitude and identity in a country that stands for
democratic and secular rules? There are many such questions one needs to ponder on, as we try to
understand the position of the lgbt community of the US juxtaposing its achievements to the ones
made in other countries across the world. Confronting homophobia, eradicating hate crimes and
providing equal rights to the lgbt community are all to be considered considerable achievements of
the society. The United States has been a country, that has seen innumerable radical movements and
fights for lgbt acceptance, presumably progressive as we still have countries that suppress the
existence of sexually marginalised community by all means.
The argument that sexual orientation is already given and it is biological becomes immaterial, when
considering the plethora of sexual cultures that one can find in the US. History makes the evidence
of the existence of variant sexual cultures like tribadism, sadomasochism and so on, available to the
society. Let us not forget that many books based on the theme of homosexualitywere banned, to
suppress the evidence of one such sexual

Essay On Louis Zamperini
This book leaves a special place in my heart do to its patriotism and will power. When you read
this book it leaves you wanting to read more, It s a good read all the way through. This book
tells a story about a soldier and Olympic runner named Louis Zamperini who becomes a captive
to the Japanese and is imprisoned and question throughout his time there. While he is there he is
treated harshly from many of the soldiers they did not take a liking to him. The main antagonize
was a man named the Bird a Japanese head officer who puts Louie zamperini through most of his
trials. When this war is done and settled and Louie is freed he personally meets with every guard

To me this shows how forgiving Louie is and how sorry the guards were that they had done this

how great they were, which is why they had Louie race the Japanese Olympic runner to show all
the other American prisoners and all the Japanese officer how great they were that they could
beat the American Olympic runner which made them think they were better that us. I don t know
how this book could get criticism it Is such a fantastic read. Louie Zamperini faces challenges
such as Having to go to war when he was training for the Olympics, being in a plane crash, Going

the things that have happened to this man and he is able to come back home to his family and tell

Beowulf Analysis
Beowulf, the historical epic, has enlightened historians and captivated readers for centuries, yet
along with its riveting plot and engaging heroes, therein lies one distinct blunder. Throughout the
sequence of Beowulf s adventures, Beowulf himself and his companions address God and Biblical
stories occasionally make their appearance. However, a brief glance at the background of Beowulf
and his people would inform any onlooker of Christianitys absence during this time. This accident
does not alter the plot of Beowulf significantly, nonetheless, they may irritate a well educated
historian. Yet, armed with this literary mishap one could uncover the abundant historical
information, the form of the author s culture, and perhaps ponder upon how the omission of
Christianity would modify the story. Thus, instead of this accident creating a negative impact it has
introduced beneficial information and given a cause to exercise one s brain.
Throughout the previous years, historians have sought to satisfy their insatiable hunger for the past
by the means of ancient literature. Yet, along with the plot of ancient tales, historians also search
for errors in the manuscripts in order to learn the history of the author rather than the characters. To
understand the mistake of the author and the situation of Beowulf s people, the Geats, one must
first recognize the epic s setting: sixth century Sweden. The Norton Anthology Western Literature
Vol. 1 throws light upon the fact that

Theme Of Sex In The Sun Also Rises
The Sun Also Rises is a novel by Ernest Hemingway, which explores the post World War I life of
a group of American and British expatriates. The story follows these expatriates as they journey
from Paris to Pamplona for the Festival of San Fermin. The group indulges in wild nightlife,
which includes drinking, dancing, and watching bullfights. This lifestyle takes the characters
through the emotions of anger, fear, and regret. The lone female character of the group, Lady
Brett Ashley, is an attractive, intelligent, and carefree divorcГ©e that the men in the circle
constantly lust for. Her appeal to the men causes a great deal of sexual jealousy. The concept of
sex is a devastating force that damages the group. Sex is able to destroy relationships, people
internally, and the purpose of life for the characters.
There are many relationships in The Sun Also Rises, each one having similar qualities to the
others. Most of the relationships revolve around Lady Brett Ashley, who is very outspoken
about her love life. She has had sexual relations with many men, and has even had affairs, but
does not feel guilty about her lifestyle. The narrator of the story, Jake Barnes, is very attracted to
Brett, and Brett has mutual feelings about Jake. However, Jake is impotent, because of a wound
he received from serving in World War I. Although Jake and Brett love each other, Brett s sexual
desire is too strong for her to abandon for Jake. She would not be able to leave her sex life, not

Short Term Goals For College
A short term goal I ve set for myself is getting accepted into my first choice college: Colorado
University of Boulder. During my junior year, I was following my cousin around to colleges
that she was interested in. I went along with her to visit Colorado University of Boulder and
from that moment on I knew that I wanted to go there. I can finally say that I got accepted and
couldn t be happier to check off one of my goals on my list. Nonetheless, I ve worked
strenuously in school to maintain an average GPA of 3.76, plus taking rigorous courses, which
accumulates to a GPA of 3.92. I retook my ACT a couple of times in hopes to receive a 28 or

worked day and night for something that seems impossible to accomplish; that is my long term
goal, to graduate from college and medical school and be on my way to my career. However, the
major obstacle that is keeping me from accomplishing that goal is financial problems. Although,
I believe I am someone who can maximize the use of this scholarship to accomplish my dreams
and goals. I want to be someone who has a purpose in society, to help and contribute to the
community. I want to give back to my mother, who works arduously to provide an education for
me. I want to serve my community and to help them have the same chances that I have, or even
better. If I had the option to be a millionaire or to have enough money, I would choose to have
enough money so that I can pay for college to work for something I would be proud of. At the
moment, my goals seem to be a figure of my imagination because it s not like the sky is raining
money. Nevertheless, that s not going to stop me from applying for more scholarships, and

Resource Depletion And Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Lifecycle Analysis
Background
The content of analysis will examine paper. It will look at the harvesting of the materials,
production, distribution, and finally the waste. This lifecycle analysis is to explain a consumer
product s life from production to waste. This is to show the environmental effects that the products
has during its life time. A few of the environmental impacts that will be focused on is resource
depletion and greenhouse gas emissions. These were chosen because of the chain reaction they can
cause. Greenhouse gases are known to be linked to climate change, which is a global problem so
the impacts of these emissions are on a very large scale. Resource depletion is another problem
because more than one species rely on forest. Therefore, the depletion of it is not only bad to
humans but the other organisms that use it for their survival. If this resource was to be
completely used up, then it could lead to a loss of biodiversity which could be bad for the local
ecosystem. In addition, since some ecosystems are linked together the loss of one could have a
huge effect on another causing a domino effect. LCA Inventory Trees are a good source of
paper; there are other materials that can work but for the scope of this paper I ll only focus on
trees. As described in figure 1, the first step is to harvest the trees. To do this, usually heavy
machinery or chainsaws are employed to do the cutting. But this process

Pet Mental Illnesses
Nearly any type of pet will have a very positive impact on people with mental illnesses. They are a
great source of support, comfort, and motivation for their owners. In many ways, a pet can help
people with anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder, live mentally healthier lives.
One of the most common mental illnesses is anxiety, and it affects over 40 million people around
the world. However, simply owning an animal can be life changing for them. A petcan surprisingly
be very powerful, they are capable of greatly reducing anxiousness in many ways. For example,
research shows that when you hold or stroke an animal such as a cat or a dog, it significantly lowers

Tattoos And Piercings Body Art
Are you someone who loves body art? Do you have some tattoos or piercing? Are you wanting to
get some tattoos or piercings done? Proponents argue that tattoos and piercings are a way to
express yourself, that they are fashionable, and that they can be an amazing way to meet new
people; while opponents argue that tattoos are unclean, that you will change over you life, and that
religion forbids altering your body. Either way, you need to know some things first. You need to
know about your artist, and the shop he works at. The risks of getting them done, and not being one
hundred percent for sure that you like it, or that it is a clean tattoo. You also need to look into what
they use to make the pigments and if you are allergic to anything in them. Getting a tattoo is a
personal experience and should not be rushed. Many people believe that if you get a tattoo, you
ll contract some disease. It is true, but only if you artist is not clean about the practice. You can
get HIV, AIDS, and many other blood transmitted diseases because of an unclean shop( Con 1 ).
It is not a safe practice if you choose it not to be. There are people who don t do any research on
what makes the pigments and they can be allergic to some of ingredients. If the piercing
equipment isn t clean, then yes, it can get infected. It would have to be removed and possibly
surgically cleaned out. Tattoos and piercing also can cause a problem becoming employed. A lot

Sobel perseveres through seven years of hard work and bad pay because of his love for Miriam.
Sobel worked overtime often running the shoe store by himself while the owner, Feld, would
go home after an hour or two (Malamud 51). Despite Sobel s hard work he received terrible pay
to the point that even the owner told him he should leave and receive better wages. Yet his
conscious bothered him for not insisting that the assistant accept better wage than he was
getting, though Feld had honestly told him he could earn a handsome salary elsewhere, or
maybe opened a place of his own (Malamud 51). Sobel knew that he was being paid unfairly for
the hours that he worked, but he insisted on staying because he loved Miriam. For the stingy
wages I sacrificed five years of my life so you could have to eat and drink and where to sleep?
Then for what shouted the shoemaker. For Miriam (Malamud 53). Even after working five years
to try and be accepted by Feld and marry Miriam when Feld insists that Sobel wait two more
years Sobel agrees in a heartbeat. But the next morning, when the shoemaker arrived, heavy

Western Front Inhumanity
In All Quiet on the Western Front, one of the themes associated with the war was the inhumanity of
mankind. The motif of animal instincts between characters showcased this abandonment of
humanity. In addition, the strong theme of nationalism throughout this time period encouraged the
loss of individuality. Lastly, men in positions of authority in the novel dehumanized soldiers by
abusing their position of power. Overall, the events of the war promoted the development of the
inhumanity of mankind through recurring animal instincts, nationalism, and power abusive men.

Essay On The American Education System
America, one of the world s super powers and most prosperous nations, is known for its dominantly
huge military, prominent cultural and political influences. Yet, America still ranks only 10th in
education worldwide. Why is this? The education system of the US has stayed relatively the same
for almost 150 years, with no reform. Outdated methods of teaching are still in practice. Though
many may feel that the American educationsystem is a model of success, compared to the
educational system of Finland, the American education system is in dire need of change. For one,
as stated before, America still uses the same methods of education today as nearly two centuries
ago. In this span of time, America has come far in many different ways, such as our military,
economy, and government. Education shouldn t be left behind, as it s the most important for future

Becoming a teacher in Finland is much more difficult and revered than becoming a teacher in
America, as teaching in Finland is considered a very important career. Becoming a teacher is
competitive, and teachers are required a master s degree and pedagogical training. Teachers must
also complete academic studies in their field to maintain their career, while some American teachers
teach subjects that they re unfamiliar about. This is an obvious mistake that could be corrected by
proper training of teachers, and higher requirements needed for teaching. The last main difference
is that in American schools students are expected to learn at the same pace as every other student. In
Finland, one on one training is often practiced between student and teacher, and in most Finnish
schools, classrooms contain multiple teachers to ensure no student is left behind.. Almost all

On a more positive note, gains are being made towards the direction of holding those presumed
guilty of drowsy driving accountable for their reckless behavior. Unfortunately, it has taken a series
of deaths in order to trigger this movement. One of the first laws developed (Maggie s Law,) was
done so by the mother of 20 year old Maggie McDonnell who was hit head on by a van driven by a
drowsy driver in 1997. Mrs. McDonnell (the mother of Maggie,) was infuriated to learn that there
was not a single law created to address the issue of vehicular homicide as a result of sleep
deprivation, and therefore set forth to create one. Her efforts were successful, and in 2003 the
nations first drowsy driving law was implemented. Maggie s Law ammends the spectrum of

Is Man Inherently Evil
The Evil Within In Thomas Hobbes book Leviathan he writes that man is selfish, poor, and
brutish. He believes that man is inherently evil and their selfishness leads to war and negative
things (SAT). I agree with Hobbes. Man is inherently evil because people spread hate and
commit atrocities. One reason it is evident that man is inherently evil is because people spread
hatred. Social media is used today on a day to day basis, it is such a huge platform for
communication and entertainment. What it s supposed to be used for though, may not be how
people are using it. People take advantage of the fact that you can be anonymous on social media

For example the recent Gay Club Pulse shooting in Orlando. In the article Orlando Shooting: 49
Killed; shooter pledged ISIS Allegiance , they describe it as a definitive Act of hate . The
terrorist attack claimed 49 lives of the LGBT community and injured many more. The Pulse
shooting was the biggest Massacre in United States history. This shows how evil man can be
because they commit mass murders without a specific reason or outcome simply because man
feels hate. If man was born good, then why would they commit mass murders? It clearly shows
man is evil because man killed innocent people and a good person would never take someone s
life. Also man destroys the world they live in. In the article Top 10 Environmental Issues Caused
By Humanity The Worst it states that deforestation, industrial mining, and untreated sewage are
just some of the issues man has created for this earth. Take industrial mining, mining for gold is
for man s benefit. They do so much destruction to the surface of the earth just to find a couple
ounces of gold! This is an atrocity! So much surface area is destroyed and mercury is released
into the air harming the planet, only for the benefit and selfishness of humanity. Brutalizing and

My Vocation After High School
Serena Tim English 12 CP Mrs. Mennuti March 1, 2016 Obstetrics Nurse During the past four
years people have asked me what I wanted to do for a vocation after high school. I always had an
answer, but I always transmuted my vocation path. I kenned that I wanted to go into health care,
but I was never genuinely certain on what field I wanted to go into. I am still skeptical on what I
optate to do with the rest of my life, but I cerebrate this research has availed me to decide. There is
one vocation in which I find intriguing which is obstetric nursing. An Obstetrics nurse avails
medicos with the care of enceinte mothers afore and after birth. OB nurses customarily avail with
preparing the distribution room, prepping the patients, preparing instruments, caring for a baby
immediately after birth, expounding after birth care to incipient parents, and keeping track of
family members and partners who are present afore and after the birth. Trained obstetric
professionals are typically the ones that women turn to afore, during, and after their nine month
journeys. Albeit obstetricians play an integral and incontrovertibly paramount role during this time
in a woman s life, obstetric nurses are dedicated professionals that should not be overlooked. Due
to the long and erratic hours along with the infrequent tragedy, obstetric nursing as a vocation is
sometimes as stressful and challenging as it is rewarding. When it comes to taking care of a
mother and child an OB nurse has many

Cultural Values Of Womanhood In Breath, Eyes, Memory By...
The girl she said, I didn t tell you this because it was a small thing, but little girls, they leave their
hearts at home when they walk outside. Hearts are so precious. They don t want to lose them. The
Novel Breath, Eyes, Memory by Edwidge Danticat is about a young Haitian girl named sophie who
was left behind with her Aunt (Tante Atie) by her mother(Martine) whose in New York. Sophie
goes back and forth visiting/living with her mom and she finds out a lot about her culture. Her

Not only that but this pressure also makes sophie believe women all are only good for one thing
and once it s taken from them they are nothing. One example of this is what Tante atie said They
train you to find a husband, she said. They poke at your panties in the middle of the night, to see
if you are still whole. They listen when you pee, to find out if you re peeing too loud. If you pee
loud, it means you ve got big spaces between your legs. They make you burn your fingers learning
to cook. Then still you have nothing. (pg.137) This definitely shows that women are viewed as
dependent to their man. They believe they can t be independent and have a life with someone who
can protect them. Not only that but, this haitian culture builds tension in the relationships of girls
and their parents. Sophie didn t find her mom all that fun while she had to be tested. So that is why
she finally ended the madness entirely and stopped her mom from bothering her after her mother
finds out she is not a virgin.
Tante Atie raised sophie until she was 12 years old in her motherland of Haiti. She was a great
mother for sophie because she taught her many things woman in her culture are valued for. In haiti
they value women to do the house work or take care of babies;so their husband can work hard and

While Baton Rouge, cannot be considered a large city, it is home to a well sized state University.
Considering the amenities that the school has access to and the ever rising demand for fluent

These dietary practices and attitudes affect even those who might not sure the same thoughts
about food as someone. Even the very absence of it, fasting, has a huge impact on not only one s
physical but also mental state. In Islam, it is used as an oppurtunity to remind oneself of the
benevolence of Allah with the prayer Praise to Allah for feeding us, giving us to drink and making
us Muslims. (Raman 2014: 967). For Muslims, fasting is the fourth of the Five Pillars. It is

Essay on The Pros and Cons of Ozone
Here is an environmental question worth asking, Is ozone good or bad? Need more context?
Okay. Has ozone been beneficial or detrimental to humans over the course of the past century?
Unsure? Well read the following and decide. If you re not motivated to do so, consider that if
ozone weren t part of the Earth, neither would we be, and, more immediately, if ozone levels aren t
kept within certain narrow ranges in the future, the biospherewill suffer greatly.
What is ozone? Ozone is the gas in our atmosphere which has the chemical formula, O3, meaning
that each of its molecules consists of three oxygen atoms. Although seemingly similar to the much
more common diatomic oxygen, O2, which we require consumption of in every breath, ozone ...

Let s start in the upper atmosphere and work our way down to the surface. The stratosphere (that
part of the atmosphere above the wispy clouds extending nearly 30 miles above the surface)
contains ~97 percent of the ozone on the planet. This ozone is considered extremely beneficial
and is, in fact, essential for life as we know it. Ozone has the very special property of absorbing
the highly energetic ultraviolet (UV) rays that come from the sun. This partial absorption of UV
light protects life from the complications that result when life forms are exposed to elevated
levels of it. In humans, UV light might be desirous to someone attempting to get a tan, but it is
very damaging to our eyes (via cataracts), contributes in the creation of cancerous skin cells,
produces age spots, and stimulates wrinkles. (Despite the fact that our culture tends to admire
tanned skin, the process of tanning is actually a sign of skin damage.) Many plants also show
signs of reduced productivity when exposed to higher UV levels. Thus, stratospheric ozone is a
blessing to all of life because of its ability to absorb (and therefore block) much of the UV light
from reaching the earth s surface.
In the lower atmosphere, particularly near the surface, ozone isn t so beneficial. Often a primary
ingredient in smog, ozone causes damage in lung when inhaled. The American Lung Association s

As the world s oldest living leader, you might think Mugabe has earned a nice party, but his country

Most Americans don t live in a world where vote rigging, mass emigration, accusations of human
rights abuses and economic decline have been the standard for the last 36 years, and this year 75
percent of their maize crop was destroyed by drought. Maize is the staple food crop for the country.
Mugabe said that he has applied for aid and that no one would starve, but then he added that he
would not accept the aid if the country had to accept gay rights to get it. If aid, as I understand,
is to be given on the basis that we accept the principle of gay marriages, then let that aid stay
where it is. We don t want it. It is rotten aid, filthy aid and we won t have anything to do with it.
In addition to the drought, Zimbabwe suffers from hyper inflation as a result of Mugabe s
reforms . He seized all of the farms from white farmers and redistributed them to his supporters.
When Mugabe took power in 1980 after the British ceded control of the country, Zimbabwe was
poised to be one of the world s most promising economies. Mugabe s policies have thrown the
country into economic chaos, however, with its output less than half of what is was nearly 40 years

Intellectual Property And Copyright Property Rights Essay
Introduction
When we use our mind as the intelligent humans we are, sometimes out of that comes Intellectual
property. Intellectual property is an idea that was created by one with the intention to trademark,
copyright or patent the creation they have made. There are many forms of intellectual property that
exist ranging from artistic sides to mechanical sides and etc. With those many forms intellectual
property is broken down into two factions, industrial property and copyright in which all the forms
of intellectual property lye somewhere in those two factions. To understand intellectual property a
little more we need too look at the two and break down the factions. Also take a look at the
protection and the laws that pertain to copyright, trademarks, and patents.
Discussion
The term intellectual property refers to the innovations of the human mind. Intellectual property
rights protect the interests of these innovators by giving them property rights attached to those
ideas. The term intellectual property rights stands for these legal rights that authors, inventors,
and other creators have. Intellectual property laws relate to a particular way in which ideas or
information is expressed or displayed, but not the actual ideas or exact concept itself. The first use
of the expression intellectual property appears to be October 1845, in Davoll vs. Brown, a patent
case in Massachusetts. Justice Charles Woodbury said that only in this way can we protect

Creation And The Persistence Of Evil By Levenson
In Creation and the Persistence of Evil , Levenson asserts that God s divine omnipotence
originates from his battle with rather than banishment of evil. There are a few textual facts to
consider in analysis of this statement. In an initial class discussion, we examined the fact that
God did not create evil. He created what was and what had the potential to be good (e.g. light,
man), separating it from what is deemed as evil (e.g. darkness). For instance, he did not create the
tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead drew boundaries. Yet this concept from Genesis
conflicts with one that arises in Psalms 104:26. This verse states that Godcreated the Leviathan, a
sea monster, and later kills him in a battle ( thou brakest the heads of

Comparing the Crucible and the Scarlet Letter
The Puritans had a heavily important part in the formation of early America, as well as a religion
that influenced our early American society. This society has been the target which many authors
have picked to set their novels in. The topic of Puritan life contains a broad list of aspects that can
be easily compared to one another in several different books. Two selections that go into detail
about some of the different aspects of the Puritanpeople are The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, and The
Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne. These two particular writers who wrote of Puritan times
conveyed, in their text, the similarities of religion, punishment, and adultery in the Puritan
community of 17th century.

Immediate action had to be taken.
br
br It is because of this strictness that the Puritans were known to have strong morals and religious
beliefs. But was everything perfect and holy all the time? Were there people who really did sin?
According to the novels by Arthur Miller and Nathaniel Hawthorne, not everyone was as saintly as
people nowadays would picture them to be.
br
br Not entirely different from Puritan times, today many people stand to commit the sin of
adultery, as they did in these two novels. In The Crucible, a married man, John Proctor, briefly
cheats on his wife with a much younger girl of the village, Abigail Williams. Goody Proctor
(John Proctor s wife) was feeling ill at the time, so it was convenient for Mr. Proctor. He hides this
sin from society until the end of the novel, but nevertheless, he did in fact take part in that sin and
he is guilty of it. During The Scarlet Letter, Roger Chillingworth (Hester s husband), is away on
business, Hester Prynne finds herself guilty of the same crime as that of John Proctor. While by
herself, she and the Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale commit adultery, and in return Hester gives birth
to a daughter, who she names Pearl.
br
br This act of unholyness is mentioned in both novels to convey to the reader that not everyone of
the Puritan community ever sins. Unfortunately, it is a fact of life, and men and women have been

Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants, By Ernest Hemingway
Hills Like White Elephants is the epitome of Ernest Hemingway s legendarily concise writing.
Comprised of basically only dialogue, the story forces its audience to deduce themes from
microscopic shifts in the conversation between the girl and the American . Through this meticulous
diction, as well as through the use of powerful symbolism, Hills Like White Elephants encapsulates
a recurring theme in Hemingway s works: the superiority of men due to the emotional and
dependent nature of women. Following a short introduction that establishes the scene in Spain, the
story opens with two main characters in a bar. Hemingway describes the surrounding landscape as
long and white with no shade and no trees (1). After ordering drinks, the femalecharacter looks off
into this brown and dry terrain and notes that the contrastingly pale hills look like white elephants
(1). The man quickly responds I ve never seen one, to which she answers No, you wouldn t have
(1). From this exchange, it can be inferred that the white hills represent something beyond face
value, something that only the woman can understand and interpret. As the story progresses, their
conversation begins to revolve around an operation (3), and suddenly a possible symbolism of the
hillsappears: the representation of the emotional and physicals repercussions of abortion. The hills
convey the fear that women have following the procedure about infertility, death, and loss. These
hills are so important,

The HHS is required to oversee IRBs in order to ensure that they are functioning properly.
Institutional Review Boards cannot function properly without being overseen by the HHS, and
therefore lack of oversight would lead to weakened protection of human participants. An
Institutional Review Board may not fulfill its purpose without the HHS s close oversight. Two
agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services, the Office for Protection from
Research Risks (OPRR) and the FDA, are both tasked with reviewing IRBs. The OPRR utilizes an
assurance document to oversee how IRBs are functioning. All IRBs using HHS funding must have

of an institution s requirements for its IRB and human subject protections (Coleman et al. 170).
Meanwhile, FDA uses research investigators to determine whether IRBs are functioning in an
effective manner. The OPRR and the FDA share the task of oversight of IRBs, and do so through

The Importance Of Life In A Boarding School
Boarding school compares to an exclusive club as there is a huge advantage of attending
boarding school for students can garner social and cultural capital. Being in a boarding school,
in of itself, is a privilege. However, the students themselves in Old School see privilege tied
strictly to socioeconomic background. Nonetheless, students divide themselves between the
disadvantaged and privileged, while others put on a facade to appear more wealthy. The book
tells the story of an unnamed narrator, most likely Tobias Wolff himself, who attends a
pretentious male boarding school during the 1960s. Therefore, the narrator, a competitive writer,
competes with other boys alike to gain the attention of famous authors and poets like Ernest
Hemingway and Robert Frost. While social pressures force students to worry with their social
status, the narrator becomes fixated on writing stories that are utopian in nature so not to reveal
his mundane and blue collared lifestyle. Privileged students from upper class backgrounds
experience the utmost respect of the school and simultaneously never have to worry about an
empty future. Specifically, Jeff Purcell is one of the characters in the novel who comes from a
long line of privileged heritage and is proud, stubborn, and judgmental of every other student. In

One of the most recognized names in the home of many food lovers and chefs is Julia Child.
She has overcome several obstacles and challenges on the way up. She started in a time when
women weren t allowed to work and were expected to stay home and play house. Julia didn t grow
up wanting to be the chef, author, or TV personality she is known for today. One woman changed
the way that Americans look at foodand even the way that we prepare our meals at home. She didn
t have the preconceived idea of being a famous person making money. She accomplished what she
has done by simply following the things she became passionate about. If she can go from nothing
to something by simply chasing what she loves, why can t we?
Julia attended college at Smith College in the 1903 s. At that point in time only about 5% of
women went to college with 66.6% not completing a four year program. (Lehman 1997). After
college, she volunteered for a position at the Office of Strategic Services, hoping to become a
spy. Shortly after her placement at OSS (Office of Strategic Service) she was moved to Ceylon,
the country now known as Sri Lanka, where she met her husband Paul. Julia claimed in 1946 that
Paul married her in spite of her cooking abilities. Her husband Paul, who also worked for the OSS,
was transferred to France. After Paul s transfer, Julia uncovered something that would change her
life, food. She then decided to pursue this new passion and enrolled in Corden Bleu cooking school.

US Coast Guard
As the skipper of a vessel you have many responsibilities to reckon with, such as the safety of the
crew, the vessel s seaworthiness, weather, currents, navigation, attentiveness to other vessels and
the appropriate operation of the boat. But, boating can be fun, safe and rewarding if you take time
to learn how to safely operate your boat, and follow the rules. Learning the requisite laws and
regulations is a good starting point. The United States Coast Guard(USCG) distributes a publication
call Navigation Rules: International Inland. This publication, which can be ordered or downloaded
from the USCG website, is also referred to as the navigational Rules of the Road or Coloregs .
These regulations apply to vessels operating on international and inland waters, and include the rules

Drains (or scuppers) should be clear; pulpits or lifelines should be secure; all hoses and clamps
should be tight. Be sure you have all needed components and equipment for the boat, and that
they work things such as spare parts, lights, an appropriately sized anchor (that is attached to the
boat by intact line), and docking lines. These listed precautions only scratch the surface of all
the aspects of a good, sound boat. By the way, is your boat registered or documented as required
by your state or municipality? Speaking of equipment, safety equipment is an important part of
boating and shouldn t be overlooked. Some of the necessary pieces of equipment include: life
vests; sound making devices, such as horns and whistles; visual distress signals, such as flashing
strobes, flares, first aid supplies, and a deployable floating cushion. There should be an adequate
number of each type of safety equipment on board, the equipment should be in good working
order, and all passengers should know how to access and operate the equipment. Get a weather
forecast before you set out on your boat. It s good to know ahead of time, if the fair skies and seas
are going to turn ugly later in

Waking Everything On It Summary
Link, A 2004, Staking everything on it: a stylistic analysis of linguistic patterns in Hills Like White
Elephants , The Hemingway Review, 2, p. 66, Literature Resource Center, EBSCOhost, viewed 23
March 2017. In Staking everything on it: a stylistic analysis of linguistic patterns in Hills Like
White Elephants , Alex Link analyzes the grammatical patterns in Hills Like White Elephants that
open up new ways of interoperating the story. Link gives two explanations on the grammatical
patterns: the repetitious language increases the importance of the couple s argument and that
linguistic patterns undermine the emotional violence, expands the importance, and complicate the
closure of their argument. Arguing that the story s repetitions,

Smart Card Llc Executive Summary Smart Card LLC Marketing Plan David Johnston 50063120 Texas A M Commerce: MGT 581 September 28, 2014 Table of Contents пѓ Executive Summary пѓ Problem Statement пѓ Recommendations Executive Summary In order to develop an effective marketing plan a company must understand its best and current customers. Smart Card LLC, the experts on card solutions, enables companies to perfect frequency marketing. In the past, loyalty programs have been difficult to implement. Smart Card LLC has overcome those obstacles and created a one of a kind product that lessen the costs, lowers complexity, and minimizes bookkeeping; all required to implement a successful loyalty program. Smart Card LLC focuses on activities that assist the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The company s target market is a mass of retail and other industries. They designed their product to be a one size fits all with the flexibility to match benefits to any consumer. In general, retailers are the prime candidates for this type of product, however not segmenting further will hinder the execution of a marketing strategy and overall profitability. A deeper analysis into the target market is necessary. Problem Statement Does the company know the size of the market? Smart Card LLC has failed to correctly identify its target market and understand its size. They want their product to appeal to the masses. Successfully implementing a one size fits all product without a specific marketing scheme is likely to fail. Smart Card LLC did not specify its pricing strategy. A comparison of price strategies with the competition was not discussed either. One aspect not considered is that smart card users will need to update their current technology in order to benefit from the company s product. This could require significant capital which only specific company s would be willing to pay. This severely limits the potential market size and must be factored into its pricing plan. Another interesting company decision is the use of regional sales force in the promotion process. By placing its sales force into regions the company is asking them to sell to both small and large firms alike. Salespeople with little experience ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Research Paper On Left Handedness Introduction To begin my research I had to decide on a topic. Using a lotus diagram, I came up with 9 possible enquiry areas of interest to me and narrowed this down to one by deciding which worked best and interested me most. I decided on researching left handedness. I then had to decide on a topic within the area and influenced by my love of science I landed on my research question: In what ways, physically and psychologically are right handers different to left handers and what causes this? Research Processes After deciding on a topic I brainstormed ideas for primary and secondary sources. An obvious choice for secondary sources was the internet. There were many articles explaining left handedness, providing theories for its occurrence and outlining differences present between left handers and right handers. I narrowed my search to articles directly relevant to my topic. I wanted other secondary sources (so I went onto the SA library website, where I searched for books relevant to my research question) and found 2 books that became very valuable resources: Right Hand, Left Hand by Chris McManus, a Professor of Psychology, specialising in handedness and A left hand turn around the world, by David Wolman which explained his journey to discover all he could about left handedness. Throughout the sequence of Beowulf s adventures, Beowulf himself and his companions address God and Biblical stories occasionally make their appearance. However, a brief glance at the background of Beowulf and his people would inform any onlooker of Christianitys absence during this time. Yet, along with the plot of ancient tales, historians also search for errors in the manuscripts in order to learn the history of the author rather than the characters. • 26. Essay on The Pros and Cons of Ozone Here is an environmental question worth asking, Is ozone good or bad? Need more context? Okay. Has ozone been beneficial or detrimental to humans over the course of the past century? Unsure? Well read the following and decide. If you re not motivated to do so, consider that if ozone weren t part of the Earth, neither would we be, and, more immediately, if ozone levels aren t kept within certain narrow ranges in the future, the biospherewill suffer greatly. Let s start in the upper atmosphere and work our way down to the surface. The stratosphere (that part of the atmosphere above the wispy clouds extending nearly 30 miles above the surface) contains ~97 percent of the ozone on the planet. This ozone is considered extremely beneficial and is, in fact, essential for life as we know it. Ozone has the very special property of absorbing the highly energetic ultraviolet (UV) rays that come from the sun. This partial absorption of UV light protects life from the complications that result when life forms are exposed to elevated levels of it. In humans, UV light might be desirous to someone attempting to get a tan, but it is very damaging to our eyes (via cataracts), contributes in the creation of cancerous skin cells, produces age spots, and stimulates wrinkles. (Despite the fact that our culture tends to admire tanned skin, the process of tanning is actually a sign of skin damage.) Many plants also show signs of reduced productivity when exposed to higher UV levels. Thus, stratospheric ozone is a blessing to all of life because of its ability to absorb (and therefore block) much of the UV light from reaching the earth s surface. In the lower atmosphere, particularly near the surface, ozone isn t so beneficial. Often a primary ingredient in smog, ozone causes damage in lung when inhaled. • 28. Intellectual Property And Copyright Property Rights Essay Introduction When we use our mind as the intelligent humans we are, sometimes out of that comes Intellectual property. Intellectual property is an idea that was created by one with the intention to trademark, copyright or patent the creation they have made. There are many forms of intellectual property that exist ranging from artistic sides to mechanical sides and etc. With those many forms intellectual property is broken down into two factions, industrial property and copyright in which all the forms of intellectual property lye somewhere in those two factions. To understand intellectual property a little more we need too look at the two and break down the factions. Also take a look at the protection and the laws that pertain to copyright, trademarks, and patents. Discussion The term intellectual property refers to the innovations of the human mind. Intellectual property rights protect the interests of these innovators by giving them property rights attached to those ideas. The term intellectual property rights stands for these legal rights that authors, inventors, and other creators have. Intellectual property laws relate to a particular way in which ideas or information is expressed or displayed, but not the actual ideas or exact concept itself. The first use of the expression intellectual property appears to be October 1845, in Davoll vs. Brown, a patent case in Massachusetts. Creation And The Persistence Of Evil By Levenson In Creation and the Persistence of Evil , Levenson asserts that God s divine omnipotence originates from his battle with rather than banishment of evil. There are a few textual facts to consider in analysis of this statement. In an initial class discussion, we examined the fact that God did not create evil. He created what was and what had the potential to be good (e.g. light, man), separating it from what is deemed as evil (e.g. darkness). For instance, he did not create the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but instead drew boundaries. Yet this concept from Genesis conflicts with one that arises in Psalms 104:26. • 35. Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants, By Ernest Hemingway Hills Like White Elephants is the epitome of Ernest Hemingway s legendarily concise writing. Comprised of basically only dialogue, the story forces its audience to deduce themes from microscopic shifts in the conversation between the girl and the American . Through this meticulous diction, as well as through the use of powerful symbolism, Hills Like White Elephants encapsulates a recurring theme in Hemingway s works: the superiority of men due to the emotional and dependent nature of women. Following a short introduction that establishes the scene in Spain, the story opens with two main characters in a bar. Hemingway describes the surrounding landscape as long and white with no shade and no trees (1). After ordering drinks, the femalecharacter looks off into this brown and dry terrain and notes that the contrastingly pale hills look like white elephants (1). The man quickly responds I ve never seen one, to which she answers No, you wouldn t have (1). From this exchange, it can be inferred that the white hills represent something beyond face value, something that only the woman can understand and interpret. As the story progresses, their conversation begins to revolve around an operation (3), and suddenly a possible symbolism of the hillsappears: the representation of the emotional and physicals repercussions of abortion.
