Globalization Of Mongols
Final Essay The first world economy system increased communications and lessened technological
and cultural gaps between societies on different continents. This early form of globalization spread
goods, ideas, and people to new places. For example, long distance trade caused Chinese inventions,
like gunpowder, printing, and the compass, to reach Europe for the first time. The Mongol s
influence over Eurasia during the thirteenth and fourteenth century was one of the main factors led
to those increased global communications. This essay argues that Chinggis Khan s conquests and
style of rule during the early thirteenth century increased globalizing interactions between Eurasian
and African societies. The Mongols rapid conquest of Eurasia increased interactions between
Europe, Asia, and Africa in a short amount of time. Before 1200 C.E., nomadic tribes surrounding
China attacked agricultural cities. These tribes were often small. They preferred raiding cities to
conquering them. In 1206 C.E., one of these nomadic tribes, the Mongols, became united under
Chinggis Khan. Khan was a powerful and charismatic military leader. Through conquest, he built a
large army. His empire grew rapidly, because he preferred conquering to administrating. When
overtaking a group, Khan offered them the opportunity to peacefully assimilate into the Mongol
empire. If they resisted, Khan leveled their cities through mass slaughter. Khan s preference for
conquering a place and moving on caused his

Compare and Contrast Watching a Movie at Home vs. Going to...

CHOOSING TO WATCH A MOVIE AT HOME OR IN THEATRES.
Watching a film on TV is better than watching in theaters this how I m going to prove my
comparisons. It s annoying when you hear from friends what happens in the movie and it ruins
the whole thing. It just isn t the same! It depends on, how good your surround system is and how
big your TV is, and economic hardships today. It does not mean that the enjoyment of watching
movies needs to be sacrificed. There is something to be said for big screen viewing; however, the
home provides a comfortable, intimate, and common place for families to enjoy classic or newly
released movies. Choosing to watch a movie at home is comfortable, ... Show more content on

Let alone deal with the infamous bright light when they would open there cell phone to see who
was text them. Most of all, I won t have to keep looking back at the innocent looking teenager that
keeps kicking my chair, even though I have turned around several times to try to directly let him or
her know it was bothering me.
Being comfortable is another big factor for me in determining whether watching a movie at home
or at a movie theater? At the theater, comfort ability is not an option. All chairs in the theater are
made in a certain way only allowing you to sit in a position in which the chair is made. Comfort
ability at home is another story. When watching a movie at home, you have the choice of sitting on
the floor, couch, and soft chairs or lay down.
When one goes to watch a movie at the theater, they have to plan which theater to go too, the cost
of the movie, and visiting the concession stand, which is over rated and over priced, but I do love
some theater pop corn. Assume a family of two (one adult) (one child)
Cost of Child Ticket: $10.00
Cost of Adult Ticket: $.10.00
Totaling around 22.00
Cost of Concessions for two people= $10.00
It s cheaper to wait for the video to come out on video and watch it at home, then you can also eat
popcorn at home cheaper. I took my son to see the Lion King 3D they charged me $22.00 I still
watched it. My son didn t want to sit too watch so they gave me my money back. Waste of time

Repercussions Of Addiction
In some cases, the abuse of drugs doesn t always make an addict. In fact, addiction can derive
from the disguise of a smiling face and loving eyes. A living, breathing, and screaming reason to
resist the madness and take a leap. However, as A Mad Girl s Love Song by Sylvia Plath portrays,
infatuation coexists within a diminishing nature. Despite the growing lack of love, withdrawal has
found a way to take claim of the heart. In order to amplify the repercussions of a breaking heart,
Plath uses structure to display underlying emotions. Conducted in a verse form called an
villanelle, A Mad Girl s Love Song follows a pattern the repeating rhymes and refrains of I shut my

Society On Differences And The Impact Of Social Factors On...
Impact of Social Factors on Individuals and the Society on Differences in Health, Life
Expectancy and Achievement between Social Groups using two Sociological Perspectives. The
issues of health, life expectancy, and achievement between social groups are very important
components of life for any individual. The World Health Organization defines health as a state of
thorough and total physical, psychological, mental, intellectual, and social well standing.
Therefore, health should not be interpreted as simply the absence of illness or medical infirmity.
Life expectancy refers to an arithmetic or numerical measure of the mean number of years a
person is prospected to live on earth, with respect to factors such as the year of birth, the number
of years already lived, sex, and other demographic determinants. Achievement, on the other hand,
is defined as the level of relative success in the society after the attainment of a certain goal or
objective. This is perceived by and in comparison with the other members of the society. According
to Tajfel (2008, p. 15), achievement is thus measured using certain common parameters. These
three components of life in the society have acute and divergent differences and are majorly
responsible for the dichotomy of social life. There are some vital social factors that control these
differences which include family size and structure, religious beliefs, wealth, lifestyles, education
level, and population growth rate. While discussing the

The Threat Of ISIS
Everyday we see on the news the next terrible thing that has happened involving ISIS. Mothers,
fathers, sons, and daughters are all perishing due to cruelty of this group. We all sit around waiting
for the next attack hoping that it isn t us, living our lives in the fear of the possibility of being a
victim to these people. The US continues to attempt to control ISIS and put them to an end, but no
one can find the right solution.
Now I think that I am among the many when I say we need to put an end to this madness now,
and lay the foundation for a safe future for the generations to come. If we could find a simple way
to eliminate ISIS or the threat of ISIS then I think that the citizens of the United States will be able

There are other ways of dealing with this threat without harming the rest of the world or innocent
people.
First, we could use our advanced technology to get information about where top ISIS targets are
located and investigate them further. Once we have higher priority targets we could send in
scouts or drones to make sure no citizens are around and if there are then we will remove them for
the time being. Then we will send in forces to put a stop to their operations and take into custody
members of ISIS and bring them in for questioning.
Second, we could continue to develop advanced robots that will be able to go into these places
for us. Now we are not quite there yet to having fully operational robots that are battle ready, but
if we continue to put our money and energy into that research then it will be possible one day to
have them. Once they are developed we can send them in and they will be able to get information
and target enemies way better than a human can. This will limit are collateral damage and save our

Ophelia and Hamlet in The Tragedy of Hamlet Essay
Ophelia and Hamlet
In 1600, William Shakespeare composed what is considered the greatest tragedy of all time,
Hamlet, the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark. His masterpiece forever redefined what tragedy
should be. Critics have analyzed it word for word for nearly four hundred years, with each
generation appreciating Hamlet in its own way. While Hamlet conforms, without a doubt, to
Aristotle s definition of a tragedy, one question still lingers. Did Shakespeare intend for the reader
or viewer of Hamlet to feel greater sympathy for Hamlet, or for Ophelia, Hamlet s lover? Both
characters tug at the heartstrings throughout the play, but it is clear that the tragedy of the Prince of
Denmark is a misrepresentation of Shakespeare s true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems clear that Ophelia, in her madness, knows what others may be. She has become
enlightened in her insanity. Unfortunately, because of her suicide, Ophelia is never given the
chance to know what she herself might have been. Clearly though, Ophelia does change greatly
from act 1 to act 4. She transforms from a simple and innocent young girl into a mad, unsettled and
knowing woman. What brings on these changes in Ophelia? One significant cause is the
aforementioned attempted education by Ophelia s brother, Laertes.
When Laertes gives his brotherly advise to Ophelia, in act 1, scene 3, he speaks of more that just
Hamlet s love for Ophelia. Laertes warns Ophelia that Hamlet is toying with her affection in lines
14 18:
... Perhaps he loves you now,
And now no soil nor cautel doth besmirch
The virtue of his will, but you must fear,
His greatness weighed, his will is not his own,
or he himself is subject to his birth. (1.3.14 18)
According to Laertes, Hamlet could not possibly love Ophelia because his is a prince and
Ophelia a mere maid. Hamlet is bound by his regency to love and marry a princess of equal rank
and stature. In lines 30 33, Laertes preaches the importance of Ophelia s chastity:
If with too credent ear you list his songs,
Or lose your heart, or your chaste treasure open
To his unmustered importunity.
Fear it, Ophelia, fear it, my dear

Third Man Setting
The Third Man The Third Man, directed by Carol Reed, takes place in post WWII Vienna. It is
an interesting thriller following a man by the name of Holly Martins. Holly is an out of work
writer that is invited to Vienna by his friend Harry Lime, who promised him a decent job upon
arrival. However, when Holly arrives at Harry s home, he finds out that his friend has died. As he
mourns his friend s passing, he begins to notice discrepancies in the stories surrounding his death,
particularly the suggestion of a third man at the scene of the accident. Holly investigates further,
leading him to the realization that Harry is in fact alive, and a peddler of altered drugs that are
killing sick adults and children. In the end, Holly agrees to assist the police in capturing Harry.
When Harry s lover, Anna Schmidt, interrupts the set up to trap him, he runs into the sewers where
he is eventually shot and killed. This film was successful due to its good setting, supporting
soundtrack, and profound message.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The city is divided into sectors controlled by four different nations: the English, Russians,
Americans, and French. The multiple authorities cause tension and a sense of confusion and fear.
This helps add to the questionable atmosphere as Holly is investigating his friend s supposed
murder. Another important part about the setting is the sewer tunnels that Harry uses to sneak
around while pretending to be dead. This tunnel system was hidden and more intricate than the
police or Holly knew, which mirrors Harry s situation. Holly is less familiar with the city and the
sewer system, much like he is less familiar with Harry s darker

The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy takes the reader on a journey through Mexico and South
Western United States through the eyes of the protagonist Billy Parham, a young cowboy who
began the story as young and naive, wishing for an adventure. He finds it when Billy captures
the wolf that he and his father were hunting and, instead of killing the animal, he instead decides
to take her back to the Mexican Mountains. Along the way, he began to deeply care for it and
believe that it s a being of great order that knew what men do not, willing to risk his own life to
guarantee her safety (McCarthy 59 60). However, on his trip, Billy and the wolf get caught by

From the literary criticism Borders and Boundaries of Religion and the Mind in Cormac McCarthy s
The Crossing by Susan Rojas, the ex priest was seen to exemplify characteristics that made him
both a foundation of the novel s spiritual core and an example of how crossing a border of the
mind can lead to negative effects. While Billy crossing one of his mental boundaries made him
harsher, it allowed him to survive in the harsh environments he was in. However, for the ex
priest, the mental boundaries was what kept him sane and with purpose. Rojas states how the ex
priest illustrates the paradox of the boundaries and borders of the mind as these mental
boundaries are necessary evils because they provide the rigidity needed for a seeking mind and
can liberate and free the mind through containment (Rojas 2). The ex priest continuously crosses
these borders and boundaries which allow him to become more and more aware of his own life
and the actions he takes (7). The ex priest realized that he had conflicts over which religion he
belonged to, Catholic or Mormonism, as he states that I am a Mormon. Or I was, showing that he
was not sure where he belonged, and continuously phasing from a religion to another, crossing
mental borders continuously (Rojas 8, McCarthy 140). These continuous mental crosses between
two boundaries made him lose sanity as his religious life was boundless, unmanaged, making it
hard for him to understand his true purpose, as seen in the literary criticism by Peter Mundik, The
Illusion of Proximity: The Ex:Priest and the Heretic in Cormac McCarthy s THE CROSSING:
Book II (Mundik). This proves the idea that crossing mental boundaries leads to unchangeable
mental alterations that may benefit or hurt a person. While Billy s crossing of his mental boundary
was only temporary

Operation Uranus Scene Analysis
Fighting in the streets in Stalingrad was a hellish scene. The plague of rats that infested the city,
the dead bodies left out in the open and the emergence of skilled snipers greatly affect both German
and Russian forces. With the winter approaching and the halt of the 6th Army and the 4th Panzer
Army in Stalingrad, the Russian Army decides to take action in order to turn the battle. The turning
point of the battle came with a huge Soviet counteroffensive, code named Operation Uranus
(November 19 23), which had been planned by Generals Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov,
Aleksandr Mikhailovich Vasilevsky, and Nikolay Nikolayevich Voronov (Limbach, 2015).

Many of the German soldier are starting to die mysteriously. German medical experts are sent to
the front lines to investigate the cause. The findings conclude that the men are dying from
starvation. German reinforcements attempt to rescue the doomed 6th and 4th Panzer armies but
are unable to break through the Russian forces from the east. The Russian forces soon after
begin to close the encircle enemy. Seeing the inevitability of surrender, Hitler orders Paulus not
surrender and fight to the death (Limbach, 2015). Hitler even goes so far as to promote Paulus to
the rank of Field Marshall and reminding Paulus that now German Field Marshall has ever
surrendered. The Volga River has frozen over solid and the Russian Army starts to transport
troops and equipment on the river to further attack the Germans. By January, the Nazi Armies
were surrounded by seven Russian armies and Paulus has no choice but to surrender. The Soviets
recovered 250,000 German and Romanian corpses in and around Stalingrad, and total Axis
casualties (Germans, Romanians, Italians, and Hungarians) are believed to have been more than
800,000 dead, wounded, missing, or captured (Limbach, 2015). Of the 91,000 men who
surrendered, only some 5,000 6,000 ever returned to their homelands (the last of them a full
decade after the end of the war in 1945); the rest died in Soviet prison and labor camps (Limbach,
2015). On the Soviet side, many historians

The Experience Of An Indian Citizen
As we boarded the plane to India, my father said, Boys, I planned this trip for one specific reason.
When we return home, both of you are going to be different. You just wait. I was not sure what
to expect from this trip, but I did know that my dad was not joking. Somehow he was going to do
something the make this trip a memorable one. The second we landed, I knew how this trip was
going to be different; instead of treating us like tourists, he set everything up so we would
experience Indiafrom the perspective of an Indian citizen.
As a child, my family and I would travel into Philadelphia quite often. We would go to out to
dinner and go sightseeing. I would run up the art museum stairs like Rocky, just not nearly as
fast. The majestic building was created by large stone slabs and magnificently large pillars. We
would sit in the blistering heat of the sun watching the rowers continuously pound away at the
water rowing against the tide, preparing for their big race. There were always beggars,
constantly bombarding you, asking for money. My parents always taught me to never offer less
fortunate people money, but instead, offer them food or a drink. Most of the time when you offer
the beggars money, they will take it to buy drugs or alcohol, or they could pretend to be poor and
pocket the money. I carried these same experiences over to India with me. But India is much
different than America. You cannot walk a foot without seeing a beggar on the side of the road.

Yoga Research Papers
Yoga

First thoughts that come into my head when I think about yoga are body flexibility, body
movements and relaxation. Though yoga is more than that, it has deeper connections to the mind
body. Connecting with the mind body is a great communication to have because knowing what our
bodies feel helps us figure out if we are tired, hungry, or hurting. Finding the connection between the
mind and body is one of the best breathtaking moments. This being said, there are plenty of benefits
that yoga has to offer. For example, yoga helps us with balancing a healthy lifestyle, because we

There are quite a few different yoga posses and each one has a benefit towards the mind body
connection. As of 2011, 1,300 poses had been described and 200 had been video graphed
(Rockwood, Media, 2009). As a beginner it can be tough to perform some poses since there are
different ones with different names. Also, it may be challenging to do complete certain poses if
we are not familiar with how to precede a pose. For example, when I first tried yoga I had no
clue what was going on or how to remain in a certain position. Though not being familiar with
the different poses that were being practice during my first yoga class, helped me relax my body
and tension that I was holding on. In a way that I was able to listen to the teacher and just be
mindful. Yoga poses have been catalogued since before written history. Depictions of yoga
poses were found engraved on soapstone seals in the ruins of the cities of Mohenjo Daro and
Harappa, which flourished at least 5,000 years ago in the Indus River Valley (Rockwood, Media,
2009). Yoga poses have been around for a while and they are being practice in today s life style.
Seems to be famous since many people from different ages are studying and practicing it. For
example, college students may practice yoga to help reduce stress since balancing schoolwork and
personal life might cause stress. Yoga can be practice at any age single women and

Hurricane Katrina Flood Risk Analysis
Article #1: Flood Risk Management in the United States and the Impact of Hurricane Katrina.
Article #1 Major points: The major points that the article focused on were that since people have
first stepped foot on this continent, flooding has always been present. This constant presence has
required the federal and local governments to help assist with the flood control, management, and
the damages that flooding causes. There have been many policies established to help with
floodplain management, but since the terrorist attack on September 11th, the risk analysis approach
has taken precedent over the other policies (Galloway 302). Different disasters in our history have
encouraged a variety of action from the government and other organizations. For instance, failing
dams prompted a national dam safety program and analyzed the risks of those living below dams
(301). Also, after Hurricane Katrina, levee maintenance importance was increased; as there were
major levee malfunctions that heightened the destruction. The integrity of these infrastructures

For instance, flood insurance was established in areas that are located within the floodplain (302),
as well as the relocation and removal of buildings in areas at risk of continual flooding. Furthermore,
after Hurricane Katrina, levee maintenance importance was increased. Hurricane Katrina also
instilled the importance of proper preparation before the disaster strikes. The government has
actively helped with the continual flood management in America; sharing the cost with local, state,
and federal governments (302). There are many factors and policies in the preparation and
management for flooding, but since the attacks on September 11th, the risk analysis approach has

Abstract
Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people
work and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly
led to the creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas,
collaborate, mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed
today. From its humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving
workflows to its rise against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has
gone viral and will likely sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely
regulated environment, also known as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty
of its users to ensure that the door to the information gateway remains open and accessible as it
continues to disrupt all industry and influence all aspects of human conditions. Introduction
The worldwide use of the internet is practically indispensible. Yet, its origin only dates back to the
early 1950s. No invention in history has grown so fast to touch so many lives. In fact, neither the
telephone nor the automobile nor the printing press has the impact of the internet on the human
civilization as a

Consequences Of PBL Corporal Punishment
PBL Corporal Punishment April 19, 2017, will mark the fortieth anniversary of the historic
Ingraham v. Wright ruling. Although perhaps not as well known as other Supreme Court cases
such, as Marbury v. Madison (which will forever be tattooed on any U.S. History student s brain),
it is still a milestone in America s past, one whose repercussions echo to this day. Ingraham v.
Wrightconcluded that corporal punishmentin schools was not a violation of a student s constitutional
rights, as James Ingraham, a student whose severe punishment necessitated medical attention, had

Wright case. Forty years since the United States, the same country whose constitution protects its
citizen from cruel and unusual punishment, defended physical aggression against children. It s been

punishment has continued to be practiced in thousands of schools, despite innumerable case
studies, experiments, and testimonies that deny its validity. Corporal punishment should stop being

Examples Of Satire In Catch 22
The Enactment of Satire in Catch 22
Catch 22 is a fictional novel created to be an aberration from war novels. Laughing in the face of
war and death, literally, is one of the things that make the novel Catch 22 and makes it a notable
satirists novel, an original story. It was written in 1961,during the the second World War, when all
war novels were written with a dark and dreary tone, while also trying to continue the pre conceived
romantic notions about war. Joseph Heller strips away all of the romantic pretense, and pulling
heavily on his own Air Force experience during WWII, presents war in its most raw, un censored
version. He takes away the PG 13 version of war and presents the true paradoxes that arise, and

Aggression is an indirect or direct attack on an issue in society pertaining to an individual or as
situation. It is displayed in the form of humor mixed with play to create paradoxical situations in
the book. For instance, the scene in which Aardvark rapes and kills a woman in chapter 39: I
only raped her once explained Aarfy. I had to do that after I raped her (Heller 418). Heller
strategically creates Aarfy to be a dispassionate individual. He shows no compassion or discomfort
when discussing the murder he just committed. He justifies his actions through selfish means.
When Yossarian confronted Aarfy about his actions his reaction is incongruent with the
abomination that he just committed. Any normal human being would have shown remorse for
the life that was just lost, not Aarfy. By utilizing aggression Heller is able to highlight the loss
of sanity within characters such as Aarfy. His mind has been desensitized to death and he no
longer fears taking an innocent civilian s life because he has distanced himself from pain and any
emotional realm. This satirical example of aggression also shows the flaws in law enforcement.
When Yossarian expresses his anger towards Aarfy and warns him about the fate that awaits him.
Aarfy assures him that he will not get in trouble. Yossarian is acting as a cautionary prophet in this
piece. However, the snarling twist is when Yossarian is the one who is arrested. In fact they

Kitty Ball Character Analysis
When we were first introduced to Kitty, I thought she was a standard, sheltered little princess
with few problems in her life. She seemed like a Bella Swan style bimbo, a perfectly beautiful
airhead from a poorly written fanfiction. Jacob or Edward? Vronsky or Levin? Her life was like
an empty romance story disguised by flowery language. She s loved despite having absolutely no
merit. And in many ways, Kitty truly is a spoiled, overprotected girl. But, when she is rejected by
Vronsky, something inside her fundamentally changes.
Kitty s rejection by Vronsky is not just a single heartbreak; instead, it is representative of growing
up and learning about the harsh realities of life in one blow.
Kitty begins as a character who is very secure in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She isn t some trashy homewrecker who Kitty can bring herself to hate or even brush off; she s a
mature and elegant woman who is far more grown than Kitty is. Even her outfit reflects this: even
though Kitty thought Anna would look most beautiful in a bright, gaudy lilac, Anna chooses to
wear a minimal, and yet ultimately more stunning, black dress. Kitty observes Anna s dance with
Vronsky, and the feelingthat she will never truly come to understand everything in the way Anna
does hits her hard. In comparison to Anna, Kitty is unquestionably a child, and this comes with two
thoughts: first, the thought that she is the inferior woman, and second, the realization that she is
too inexperienced to be making decisions about such important matters as marriage.
She becomes further overwhelmed by the weight of choosing a spouse as it becomes clear to
her that her thought that Vronsky ever loved her was completely wrong. As Kitty observes
Vronsky and Anna s dance, it hits her that Vronsky has never loved her in the first place. She
sees that Anna was drunk with the wine of the rapture she inspired (81) in Vronsky. Vronsky s
admiration and obedience is clear as day to Kitty, and she is horrified (81) to see how he loses
all her confidence in the face of Anna s beauty. As she watches the two dance, she experiences a
feeling she never has before jealousy. She can feel the significance of every motion they make.
Kitty, who has never seen Vronsky s glazed face,

Lucky Luciano Research Paper
Lucky Luciano In the late 1800s and early 1900s, immigration to the United States was rapid.
Many of these immigrants faced discrimination and unfair hiring practices. Due to the shortage of
jobs and earning barely enough to survive, these immigrants started gangs to carry out lucrative
business. This was the birth of the mob in America. The mob started out as loosely held together
gangs and sometimes an overboss was in charge. It later evolved into organized crimeas we know
today. New immigrants joined the already existing gangs and one of those immigrants was
Salvatore Lucania, later known as Lucky Luciano. Luciano turned the mob into a business that
made millions off of America. Salvatore Lucania was born in 1897 in the Sicily. He grew... Show

In your experiment is the KaroВ® hypertonic or hypotonic to the egg? The KARO syrup is
hypertonic to the egg therefore there is a lower concentration outside of the (in the solution) than
inside of the egg. So diffusion will occur here, meaning water will move from inside the egg to the
outside in the KARO solution. This is shown with the obvious size differences in the egg as time
increases. The egg becomes smaller and decreases in mass.
C. Historically certain colligative properties freezing point depression, boiling point elevation, and
osmotic pressure have been used to determine molecular mass. (Now there are instrumental
methods to determine this.) Of these three, osmotic pressure is the most sensitive and gives the best
results. Molecular mass can be found according the following equation:
О = MRT
Where:О = osmotic pressure,
M = molarity of solution,
R = the ideal gas constant (0.0821 LГ—atm/molГ—K), and
T = Kelvin temperature.

0.125 grams of a starch is dissolved in 100 mL of water at 25oC and has an osmotic pressure of
5.15 mmHg. What is its molecular mass?
Since the gas constant, R, requires atmospheres as pressure units, we have to convert 5.15 mmHg to
atmospheres:
5.15 mm Hg * 1 atm/760 mm Hg = 0.00678 atm.
0.00678 atm = M (0.0821) (273 + 25 =

The Second Bank Of The United States During The War Of 1812
Once the completion of the War of 1812 took place, the federal government strive to gain many
policies to build up the national economy. The Second Bank of the US was created in 1816, after
the first national bank s charter had lapsed. It helped level the economy by assisting with creating
currency that worked nationally. The BUS helped create loans for farmers, small manufacturers,
and regulation of state banks to be able to provide their own currency. Also during the time of
1816, Congress ended up creating the Tariff of 1816, which ended up inputting taxes on assorted
imported goods, to help assist with safeguarding America s iron and textile from the competition of
the British. When Monroe, Adams, and Madison, all came together, they advocated for a dynamic
economic role for the federal government, which included, the creation of a nation bank, tariff to be

The Theme Of Neologism In Lewis Carroll s Jabberwocky
As a society, it is seen as important to be pure of actions and mind, a way of life strongly
sponsored by the ideas of Judeo Christian culture. Aiming to commit mostly pure actions in life
when people are watching, this desire to appear pure is shoved to the side when alone or in a
survival situation. Nature provides a place to be alone and can endanger our state of life to some
extent, so when members of society are separated from society as a whole in nature, they are more
likely to commit actions such as the murder of animals with the justification of survival in mind.
Lewis Carroll understood this idea, which he used as an inspiration for writing his poem
Jabberwocky. In order to portray the theme of man vs nature in his poem Jabberwocky , Carroll
utilizes tone, neologisms, and repetition to further the idea that nature can distort the ideas of
humanity to the point of committing foul actions but is not affected by such actions.
Throughout this poem, the tone is used often to create an atmosphere of mystery in the poem. Like
nature itself, the idea of the Jabberwocky is mysterious and malevolent, which Carroll uses to
represent the darkest intentions of humanity itself. With having this dark, mysterious tone, Carroll
utilizes words such as vorpal , uffish , and tulgey to create a sense of entrapment for the speaker by
using harsh sounds. Representing the attack that nature imposes on those that stray into its area,
Carroll uses these harsh words to show how

Reality Of Presidential Election Essay
Reality of presidential candidates Connor Brown With the looming election drawing ever closer

President and only one can keep the title of presidential candidate. Over the past year the country
has seen over 20 different people attempt to become the leader of the free world; and they are all
the same. At the very least they are similar, and by default very easy to categorize. 1. Who is this
guy? This is the candidate no one knows. This is the Lincoln Chaffey, Martin O Malley, and
George Pataki (google him). Lincoln Chaffey who said America needed to get on the Metric

of the Union address. Whether he did well in that speech was not important. The important thing
was that randomly during the speech he leaned over and took a drink of water. This speech was

1. Sole trader businesses are the easiest to set up because there is no complex paperwork. The
business and the owner are the same person in law. The sole trader does not have limited liability
which means that they are responsible for all the debts of the business. The sole trader has to
produce an annual accounting return for the Inland Revenue.
2. Partnerships are set up by a Deed of Partnership which is a document made out by the partners
and witnessed by a solicitor. This Deed sets out the legal relationship between partners e.g. how
profits will be shared out, responsibilities of partners etc. In traditional partnerships the partners had

Organisations are structured in different ways:
1. By function as described above
2. By regional area a geographical structure e.g. with a marketing manager North, marketing
manager South etc
3. By product e.g. marketing manager crisps, marketing manager drinks, etc
4. Into work teams, etc.
Reporting in organisations often takes place down the line. An employee might be accountable to a
supervisor, who is accountable to a junior manager, who is then accountable to a senior manager
communication and instructions can then be passed down the line.
Formal organisation
An organisation chart outlines the formal chain of command and communications within an
organisation. This is the official structure that is backed up by rules and procedures. You must
remember however, that what you see on paper is often very different from the way that things
work in the real world. An individual with a strong personality can play an important part in the
running of an organisation, although he or she may appear near to the bottom of the chart.
In the formal organisational structure there will be patterns of communication and procedures for
decision making. Some organisations will have tall structures with lots of layers of command. Other
organisations are relatively flat.

Various benefits that asparagus has:
Asparagus is very high in nutritional value and thus should be part of one s daily diet chart. When
you take a small cup of asparagus it can fulfill about 70% of ones daily intake of vitamin K. Further
the nutrients within it lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
It helps in digestion as it has high fiber content and it controls the levels of blood sugar. It flushes
out toxins and neutralizes all the harmful effects of free radicals and thus the cells in the body
remain healthy.
Due to high fiber content it keeps your tummy full and helps you in achieving your fitness goals

The Moral Principles Of The American Counseling Association
The moral principles upon which the Ethical Standards of the American Counseling Association
are based is a critical part of knowledge as counselors we must possess. Counselors are often
faced with situations where their ethical morale is tested and they must know how to assure they
will make an ethical decision. There will be situations where it is difficult to identify the problem
and being aware of these principles will guide professional counselors towards an ethical practice.
According to Forester Miller and Davis (1996) the principles, autonomy, the respect for
independence like freedom of choice and action, justice, treating each person according to their
needs, beneficence, to be good and a proactive counselor, to always contribute to the welfare of the
clients, non maleficence, not causing harm to others, this principle is considered one of the most
important and fidelity, taking care of client counselor relationship, being loyal and honoring
commitments in the therapeutic relationship. Those are the five principles that are valuable in
ethical decision making, veracity, dealing truthfully with therapeutic clients, is another principle
that is listed in the American Counseling Association code of ethicsupdated in 2014. These
principles previously mentioned are the base in ethical decision making, they are interdependent of
each other and are of extremely importance to a healthy counseling relationship.

Indigenous And Non Indigenous People
As I was not born or raised in Australia, I had no idea about Indigenous Australian history before I
came across this unit. The only idea I had is that Indigenous Australians receive special treatment
such as more welfare and handouts from the government. Before I started this unit, I was expecting
to learn Indigenous culture and traditions as I have been taught in my diploma unit before.
However, in the very first lecture, Corrinne surprised me by being a white Indigenous people and
the way she made us think in their shoes. She made us think how the Indigenous people felt like
when the invasion began. I started to understand, this is a very crucial topic for both Indigenous
and non Indigenous people as we are learning the history and the presence with heavy hearts. After
listening to lectures, reading articles and communicate on the forum with other students, I had a
better understanding of Reconciliation. As I learned that Aboriginal people are the first people on
this land, however they were excluded, ignored and spurned in Australian written history for the
first 190 years. After the Federation in 1901, Aboriginal people had become victims of colonizer s
indulgence with racial purity. Having been intruded, colonized, quashed, enthralled and animalized,
Aboriginal people became an inconvenient evidence of the crucial eviction. (mentioned in my week

Reflection On Mindfulness
I have a somewhat regular, yet sincere contemplative mindfulness practice that helps me understand
why I experience life the way I do both internally and externally. I get to see my own urges, those I
m not really aware of such as the urge to multi task. Practicing mindfulness meditation and other
mindfulness practices I learned to become in touch with my own urges and to control them through
awareness and self discipline. So, here are a few reflections for your coffee time. As you sip on
your deliciously made aromatic coffee, tea or hot cocoa accept these thoughts for your reflection.
Finally, at the 3rd mindfulness class I took with Daniel, I decided to do the homework he had
suggested to everyone, which was to do one thing we do routinely during the day, mindfully. That
is to be with the experience of it and fully giving it our undivided attention. For example, if we
chose brushing our teeth, he said, to brush slowly, feel every stroke as the brush moved around the
mouth, what it felt like, the taste of the tooth paste, what the mind was doing; observe everything
about that experience, while also focusing on our breath. This was our mindfulness ... Show more

the experience, being with my breath, etc. I observed how absolutely difficult it was for me to
just do one thing at a time. I saw how I could not stay put for twenty seconds to finish this task.
The urge to run and do other things was overwhelming. I d leave the stove to get something from

bread on the fire and rushing to turn it over in between all those other tasks. And of course, it would

Little by little Iago was able to push Othello to the point where he was no longer the person we
saw at the beginning of the play. Othello killed Desdemona because he though Iago was his
friend and would never lie. Iago was a very toxic friend since the start and knew exactly how the
story would end because he had everyone wrapped around his finger.
Rodrigo was another victim that payed for Iago s wrath towards Othello, envy towards Cassio,
and overall greed for money and power, all of which are deadly sins. Iago charmed Rodrigo with
the idea that he could have his one true desire; the fair Desdemona. Iago never cared for Rodrigo
and though he was pathetic as did the audience because he was constantly whiny. Rodrigo was
also gullible and very desperate to win Desdemona s affection. In act 2 scene 3 Rodrigo is very
emotional over that fact he feels he will never get Desdemona because Iago is not giving him
results and ends up saying I will incontinently drown myself. . Iago again out of self need helps
Rodrigo so he will not kill himself. The reason he stops Rodrigo is because he is the source of
his money, and he knows he will need him in the future for his plan. He does end up becoming
part of his plan in helping destroy Cassio, but Rodrigo dies at the hands of Iago so that Iago
would look like a hero and the one person who knew his plan is dead. Iago is a master of
manipulation and which lead to Rodrigo ending in a very unfortunate situation.

The Shield of Achilles was used by Achilles in his fight with Hector. Achilles was given this

But, there is something unusual about the scene, the cattle have been untouched after being
killed which is unlikely, due to the natives belief that nothing should be wasted and everything

in ruins and within the ruins Ethan discovers the mutilated bodies of all of his family excluding
his two nieces. Thereafter, providing a proper burial for his family, Ethan, Martin, and some
others begin their journey of retribution and hatred for the natives as they search for the
remaining survivors of their family. Ethan s developed hatred for the Native Americans is
displayed when he fires his gun at the eyes of a corpse and then says that according to native
belief once one loses his sight they will forever roam the spirit world ceaselessly. This is
especially monstrous as one understands that he is not limited to destruction and hatred on a
physical level, but is willing to spiritually violate members of the native american race. The
proceedings in this film are extremely biased as many characters have assumed the native american
people to be savages. Even the reason for Ethan s hate is highly unlikely due to

Summary Of The Horizontal World By Debra Marquart
Cold, plain, desolate and uninhabited. These are the didactic words Debra Marquart uses to
describe the land she grew up in. In Marquart s essay, The Horizontal World it may seem as
though Marquart is uninterested or dislikes the land she grew up in, however, her ideas are
quickly contrasted by her comparison between the highly criticized and the adventurous people
who inhabited the land. Marquart utilizes juxtaposition, allusion, and didactic language to
characterize the Upper Midwest. Marquart loves the upper Midwest however, her ideas quickly
juxtaposed when describing the flat, endless plain that is the upper Midwest. Marquart s profound
love for the Midwest as hidden as she describes the roads as being, lonely, treeless, and devoid of...

Marquart s references to history continue support the claim that she loves and cares for the land
of the Upper Midwest. The land, also called The Heartland, was a place where Jefferson s idea of

had for the land. It not only shows Jefferson s opinion, but Marquart as well. Marquaart utilizes
quotes like Jeffersons to indirectly convey her own opinions about the Midwest. To further
characterize the Upper Midwest, Marquart uses pathos to connect herself and her family to the
land. She describes the great journey she had to face when her great grandparent had to travel
from Russia to America. Marquart recalled past events when starting, My grandparents wouldn t

excitement as they traveled from Russia to America. With joyous diction such as anticipation and
commentary such as I have found the land it shows how appreciative they were to receive the

Chinese New Year Celebration Festival
Introduction
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, one of the most considerable festival for
Chinese which gains significance and centuries old. It is rooted in religious and cultural elements
which dating back thousands of years. And is now becomes a week long celebration festival for
every Chinese.
It was first a legend born out of myth and fear which the monster called Nian was trying to kill
and attack villagers, years later villagers have found ways to scare the beast away and the passing
of the Nian was known in Chinese as a synonymous with celebrations of Chinese New Year, and
this is how Chinese New Year celebration is born.
Being a Chinese, Chinese New Year means a lot to me which I also fully engaged in this festival
starting from the day I born. I think this cultural activity is important in consumer research, as it has
changed from a myth to festival throughout the years, making it falls within the idea of consumer
fantasyland .
The practices that people do before, during and after Chinese New Year involve a lot of spending
leading this festival to falls within the idea of consumer fantasyland , for instance, making purchase
during the Chinese New Year big sale in stores, spending time walking through the Flower Markets
which offerings Chinese New Year related products, for example, New Year decorations.
In the second part of this essay, I will move on to analysis Chinese New Year in greater detail from

Clearly, religion had a negative impact on Lily Sabbath, but in the real world, does religion have
a positive or negative impact on children? John Bartkowski, a Mississippi State University
sociologist and his colleagues asked the parents and teachers of more than 16,000 kids to rate
how much self control they believed their children showed, how often they exhibited negative or
unhappy behavior and how well they respected and worked with their peers (livescience.com).
The researchers then compared their answers to how often these children s parents said they
attended religious services, talked openly about religion with their child and argued about
religion at home. The kids whose parents regularly attended religious services and talked openly
with their kids about religion were said to have better self discipline, social skills and learning
abilities than kids with non religious parents. The children whose parents often argued about
religion were more likely to have these problems. Bartkowski noted that Religion can hurt if faith
is a source of conflict or tension in the family. If religion has such a positive impact on children,
why is there so much crime? Are crimes often connected to religious preferences?
It was found that young adults who consider themselves spiritual

Trailer Video Analysis
In my movie trailer video I used pictures from shutterstock and google images, the music I used
is off on the wevideo site I used. I chose upbeat music at first to represent that in the book
everything is normal and happy at first. Then I used more sad and suspenseful music, because in
the book you don t know what s going to happen next. In my video I included a lot of pictures of
Sam with her friends, because that s is one of the main elements of her is that she is always
surrounded by her friends. The mood conveyed in the trailer is suspenseful. I tried to make it
suspenseful because in the book it is hard to tell what s going to happen next so it is suspenseful.
To make it suspenseful I changed the music to a sad and slower pace song. I also sped up some
images and the ones I wanted the watcher to really think about I slowed down. That is how I tried

I showed these themes by showing a lot of pictures of Sam and her friends and then the event
that something bad happened to them. Then for the next theme I explained it more in words
about how Sam has to risk it all to save her life. The two symbols were the snow and friends. In
the book the snow changed a lot of the outcomes with the accident. With Sam s friends they
changed a lot of the outcomes as well. This being said it is clear I chose symbols that changed
the path that the story went in and those symbols were mainly the reason why. The main
character is Sam Kingston, this is the only character named in my trailer. Throughout the story it
is mostly just her making decisions on her own. For Sam this is hard and the end of the book
relies on her. So in my trailer I made it seem the book was really just about her and her choices
because it mostly is. Also this makes it seem more suspenseful and

EDM Culture
Millennial Values in EDM Culture
While elements of the millennial mindset like acceptance and kindness were found in the early
stages of Electronic Dance Music, those values are truly evident in this modern EDM culture.
Kindness:
EDM has rebranded itself from the original drugs and underground stigmas that it has come to be
associated with. The basics of why it was created, acceptance and community integration have
been rebranded as PLUR for the current generation. PLUR stands for Peace Love Unity and
Respect. It is often called the new hippy movement and related festivals are branded as the new
Woodstock . EDM Festivals such as the Electric Daisy Carnival promote a strict no drug policy.
[Under the Electric Sky]
Moral Responsibility:
An essential part of EDM s rise to fame in this generation has to do with tech boom. New
technology is everywhere. Electric is a key word that both symbolizes technology and creates a
high energy feeling. Artists feel a new moral responsibility to distribute free or cheap music. Many
popular EDM DJ s such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, and Paul Oakenfield operate free podcast
where they stream their new music for free. The music sharing platform SoundCloud often pays
DJ s to submit their own work, and YouTube is also a main player for free new music releases....

information, including clips, reviews, and sounds, can quickly be accessed. It only makes sense
that the music of the generation reflects this huge generational differentiation

Vaccines And The Anti Vaccine Argument
As healthy as my lifestyle seemed, I contracted measles, mumps, rubella, a type of viral
meningitis, scarlatina, whooping cough, yearly tonsillitis, and chickenpox, some of which are
vaccine preventable (Parker 1). This quote by vaccine advocate Amy Parker, a woman who was
not vaccinated as a child, shows just a glimpse into the life of an unvaccinated individual. Parents
who do not vaccinate their children claim many different reasons for their decision. Three of the
most popular reasons are: religious grounds, health problems as a result from vaccines, and the
belief that the illnesses are rare. Each of these reasons can be proven as nonessential in the anti
vaccineargument. First of all, religion has become a frequently used excuse. Recently, a case arose
in New York City when three families obtained vaccinationexemptions due to religious reasons
(NYC Court 1). Because they chose to not vaccinate their children, their children were not allowed
to attend school during times when another student had a vaccine preventable illness (NYC Court
1). Naturally, this sparked an uproar among the parents, who then sued the city by claiming it was a
violation of their First Amendment right to religious freedom and their 14th Amendment right to
equal protection under the law (NYC Court 1). The dogma of several mainstream religions
references vaccines and whether or not they are necessary. For example, the Catholic Church
strongly supports vaccination, even making it a moral and

Building Codes Analysis
The practice of building codes is to ensure the safety, structural stability and health. Through the
years many codes have been imposed to fix problems have occurred in the construction of the
building or after it been constructed. Building codes are interpenetrated different depending on the
location it s being built. This is due to local officials of the area who have the power to change
codes or arrange than to meet the requirement for the area. The reason every country, state, and the
city have their own way to interpenetrate codes differently is because the buildingmust adapt to the
surrounding area. When the architectbeing designing a set of drawing not only does he or she has
to meet all the requirement for the building itself but the requirement needed to build in the area.
For example, a building in Colorado and a building in Florida will have different codes in place
that give the building many characteristics. One code that would be different is frost line this
mean how depth the ground doesn t freeze in the winter. Since Colorado tend to be very cold in
winter reaching low temperature the frost line will be deeper than Florida that stays warm all most
all year. According to Allen, E., Iano, J. (2013). Local code officials regulate accredited
laboratories and testing facilities to develop safe, cost effective, timely construction methods. With
the help of local official testing new method of construction allow architects to develop a new...

Saint Augustine Of Hippo Once Stated
Saint Augustine of Hippo once stated, The world is a book and those who do not travel read only
one page. It was after stumbling across this statement that I was influenced to call up my friend and
suggest a road trip.
When we started off, it was a beautiful day. The bright morning sun peeked over the Appalachian
mountains to bid us farewell as we packed our belongings into the 2011 Chevy Cruze. Dew still
perched on the delicate leaves of various summer flowers while we rode down the road towards
Tennessee.
My friend Sarah drove. Her fingers tapped the steering wheel in rhythm to the Carrie Underwood
song blaring from the radio. It was the radio s job to keep us awake since we had left so early in the
morning; however, it was not doing a good job as I fell asleep only twenty minutes into the ride.
Sarah had to wake me up at the rest stop just outside of Roanoke, Virginia.
Hey, Allyson, she called as she shook my shoulders, it would be nice if you woke up, so I could
take a nap.
I just mumbled an incoherent string of words in response.
I can just drive right back to Pennsylvania. We don t have to take a road trip.
That got me up. I had so much invested into this trip like money and time.
I sat in the driver s seat and watched the road continuously channel under the car sort of like a
conveyor belt. It was hypnotizing, just keeping my eye on the road. Before either Sarah or I knew
it, we were already parked in front of our hotel in Gatlinburg,

Influences On Victorian Gothic Literature
Influences on Victorian gothic literature; religion, psychology, science and spirituality.
Many great authors such as Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker indulged in the world of the
supernatural with gothic novels such as Dracula and Frankenstein. However the origins of such
tales and the Victorian obsession with the paranormal are not commonly explored. The gothic
genre in fact dates back as far as 1765. The classic English gothic novel began with the author
Horace Walpole and his novel, The Castle of Otranto: A Gothic Story. Walpole claimed that he had
found an ancient manuscript which he then translated, thus creating his story. However, from what
seems to be a recurring theme in Victorian spiritualism, this also was revealed as being false. ...

There is a clear divide within the gothic genre which develops the perception of the church and
religion during the Victorian period. On one hand many gothic novels view the church as an evil
which corrupts society, whereas on the other hand religion and symbolism are the bringers of peace
and eradicators of evil. For example within Bram Stoker s Dracula, the cross of the Christian faith is
seen to drive away evil spirits and even Vampires. This portrays the Christian faith as a saviour of
man, showing the willpower of God. Yet in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, God s creation is
questioned when man essentially takes life into his own hands, in the form of Victor Frankenstein
creating the monster. Both sides of the argument are controversial, forcing gothic literature into
genre which continues to cause controversy today. Although gothic literature and the church seem
be inherently different, there are some featured similarities. Both the church and gothic fiction
depend upon society to drive forwards their success. The gothic feeds upon the confusion of
society, and at the same time the church is fuelled by the idea of safety from the supernatural. The
church is in fact utilised in many gothic novels. For instance the church is a symbol for sanctuary,
peace and rituals, all are common themes of a gothic novel. It is evident that both do not only
depend upon society, but also upon one another for

many young undocumented children achieve many things in America. DACA has provided
undocumented children an opportunity in America to have a decent job, it has given them an
opportunity to go to college and have hope. Trump administration announced that DACA has been

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) states that we will have less crime and Americans will be
able to get higher wages our security will be safer as we take away the opportunities to our

their parent s actions and should have the opportunity to prove their citizenship as they are hard

Admissions Under the Mental Health Act 1983
The process of civil admissions under the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 may be viewed by civil
libertarians as a violation of the individual s freedom. The state s justification for such a violation is
for the need to protect the individual concerned or to protect others in society. The Mental Health
Act 1983 does not explicitly require that an individual would have to be dangerous in order for that

either an approved social worker (ASW) or the nearest relative (NR) of the individual who is to

medical recommendation will suffice in an emergency under s.4). Section 26 (1) of the MHA

The Dove Campaign For Real Beauty And Its Effectiveness
This essay analyses the psychology behind The Dove Campaign For Real Beauty and its
effectiveness. The analysis includes a brief explanation of the elaboration likelihood model and how
it explains attitude formation. The other section of the analysis explores the self concept and its
effectiveness towards the campaign.
The Dove brand was established in 1957 in the U.S. introducing its new innovative cleansing bar
and now with various products such as deodorants, lotions and hair products, the brand has
rooted itself to listen to women. Under the protection of Unilever, Dove has certainly made its
mark and has gained immense success especially when competing along 400 brands. However
there are only 14 brands, including Dove, which generate sales in excess of €1 billion a year
(Unilever, 2015). The first stage of the campaign, which was launched in 2004, targeted women
through the use of billboard advertisements (see Figure 1). Since then, the campaign has expanded
from billboards to television ads and its online videos have gone viral.
Using the tagline Imagine a World Where Beauty is a Source of Confidence, Not Anxiety , the
campaign instigated a global conversation about the need for a broader definition of beauty. The
reason for this was due to the findings found by The Real Truth About Beauty: A Global Report ,
which showed that only 2% of women around the world describe themselves as beautiful however
when the report was revisited this had increased to 4% (Dove,

  • 2. Globalization Of Mongols Final Essay The first world economy system increased communications and lessened technological and cultural gaps between societies on different continents. This early form of globalization spread goods, ideas, and people to new places. For example, long distance trade caused Chinese inventions, like gunpowder, printing, and the compass, to reach Europe for the first time. The Mongol s influence over Eurasia during the thirteenth and fourteenth century was one of the main factors led to those increased global communications. This essay argues that Chinggis Khan s conquests and style of rule during the early thirteenth century increased globalizing interactions between Eurasian and African societies. The Mongols rapid conquest of Eurasia increased interactions between Europe, Asia, and Africa in a short amount of time. Before 1200 C.E., nomadic tribes surrounding China attacked agricultural cities. These tribes were often small. They preferred raiding cities to conquering them. In 1206 C.E., one of these nomadic tribes, the Mongols, became united under Chinggis Khan. Khan was a powerful and charismatic military leader. Through conquest, he built a large army. His empire grew rapidly, because he preferred conquering to administrating. When overtaking a group, Khan offered them the opportunity to peacefully assimilate into the Mongol empire. If they resisted, Khan leveled their cities through mass slaughter. Khan s preference for conquering a place and moving on caused his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Compare and Contrast Watching a Movie at Home vs. Going to... Tricia Fischer English 1010 Professor Busi 9/9/11 CHOOSING TO WATCH A MOVIE AT HOME OR IN THEATRES. Watching a film on TV is better than watching in theaters this how I m going to prove my comparisons. It s annoying when you hear from friends what happens in the movie and it ruins the whole thing. It just isn t the same! It depends on, how good your surround system is and how big your TV is, and economic hardships today. It does not mean that the enjoyment of watching movies needs to be sacrificed. There is something to be said for big screen viewing; however, the home provides a comfortable, intimate, and common place for families to enjoy classic or newly released movies. Choosing to watch a movie at home is comfortable, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let alone deal with the infamous bright light when they would open there cell phone to see who was text them. Most of all, I won t have to keep looking back at the innocent looking teenager that keeps kicking my chair, even though I have turned around several times to try to directly let him or her know it was bothering me. Being comfortable is another big factor for me in determining whether watching a movie at home or at a movie theater? At the theater, comfort ability is not an option. All chairs in the theater are made in a certain way only allowing you to sit in a position in which the chair is made. Comfort ability at home is another story. When watching a movie at home, you have the choice of sitting on the floor, couch, and soft chairs or lay down. When one goes to watch a movie at the theater, they have to plan which theater to go too, the cost of the movie, and visiting the concession stand, which is over rated and over priced, but I do love some theater pop corn. Assume a family of two (one adult) (one child) Cost of Child Ticket: $10.00 Cost of Adult Ticket: $.10.00 Totaling around 22.00 Cost of Concessions for two people= $10.00 It s cheaper to wait for the video to come out on video and watch it at home, then you can also eat popcorn at home cheaper. I took my son to see the Lion King 3D they charged me $22.00 I still watched it. My son didn t want to sit too watch so they gave me my money back. Waste of time that s why ... • 4. Repercussions Of Addiction In some cases, the abuse of drugs doesn t always make an addict. In fact, addiction can derive from the disguise of a smiling face and loving eyes. A living, breathing, and screaming reason to resist the madness and take a leap. However, as A Mad Girl s Love Song by Sylvia Plath portrays, infatuation coexists within a diminishing nature. Despite the growing lack of love, withdrawal has found a way to take claim of the heart. In order to amplify the repercussions of a breaking heart, Plath uses structure to display underlying emotions. Conducted in a verse form called an villanelle, A Mad Girl s Love Song follows a pattern the repeating rhymes and refrains of I shut my eyes and the world drops dead and I think I made you up inside my ... • 5. Society On Differences And The Impact Of Social Factors On... Impact of Social Factors on Individuals and the Society on Differences in Health, Life Expectancy and Achievement between Social Groups using two Sociological Perspectives. The issues of health, life expectancy, and achievement between social groups are very important components of life for any individual. The World Health Organization defines health as a state of thorough and total physical, psychological, mental, intellectual, and social well standing. Therefore, health should not be interpreted as simply the absence of illness or medical infirmity. Life expectancy refers to an arithmetic or numerical measure of the mean number of years a person is prospected to live on earth, with respect to factors such as the year of birth, the number of years already lived, sex, and other demographic determinants. Achievement, on the other hand, is defined as the level of relative success in the society after the attainment of a certain goal or objective. This is perceived by and in comparison with the other members of the society. According to Tajfel (2008, p. 15), achievement is thus measured using certain common parameters. These three components of life in the society have acute and divergent differences and are majorly responsible for the dichotomy of social life. There are some vital social factors that control these differences which include family size and structure, religious beliefs, wealth, lifestyles, education level, and population growth rate. • 6. The Threat Of ISIS Everyday we see on the news the next terrible thing that has happened involving ISIS. Mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters are all perishing due to cruelty of this group. We all sit around waiting for the next attack hoping that it isn t us, living our lives in the fear of the possibility of being a victim to these people. The US continues to attempt to control ISIS and put them to an end, but no one can find the right solution. Now I think that I am among the many when I say we need to put an end to this madness now, and lay the foundation for a safe future for the generations to come. If we could find a simple way to eliminate ISIS or the threat of ISIS then I think that the citizens of the United States will be able to breath easier knowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are other ways of dealing with this threat without harming the rest of the world or innocent people. First, we could use our advanced technology to get information about where top ISIS targets are located and investigate them further. Once we have higher priority targets we could send in scouts or drones to make sure no citizens are around and if there are then we will remove them for the time being. Then we will send in forces to put a stop to their operations and take into custody members of ISIS and bring them in for questioning. Second, we could continue to develop advanced robots that will be able to go into these places for us. Now we are not quite there yet to having fully operational robots that are battle ready, but if we continue to put our money and energy into that research then it will be possible one day to have them. Once they are developed we can send them in and they will be able to get information and target enemies way better than a human can. • 7. Ophelia and Hamlet in The Tragedy of Hamlet Essay Ophelia and Hamlet In 1600, William Shakespeare composed what is considered the greatest tragedy of all time, Hamlet, the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark. His masterpiece forever redefined what tragedy should be. Critics have analyzed it word for word for nearly four hundred years, with each generation appreciating Hamlet in its own way. While Hamlet conforms, without a doubt, to Aristotle s definition of a tragedy, one question still lingers. Did Shakespeare intend for the reader or viewer of Hamlet to feel greater sympathy for Hamlet, or for Ophelia, Hamlet s lover? Both characters tug at the heartstrings throughout the play, but it is clear that the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark is a misrepresentation of Shakespeare s true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems clear that Ophelia, in her madness, knows what others may be. She has become enlightened in her insanity. Unfortunately, because of her suicide, Ophelia is never given the chance to know what she herself might have been. Clearly though, Ophelia does change greatly from act 1 to act 4. She transforms from a simple and innocent young girl into a mad, unsettled and knowing woman. What brings on these changes in Ophelia? One significant cause is the aforementioned attempted education by Ophelia s brother, Laertes. When Laertes gives his brotherly advise to Ophelia, in act 1, scene 3, he speaks of more that just Hamlet s love for Ophelia. Laertes warns Ophelia that Hamlet is toying with her affection in lines 14 18: ... Perhaps he loves you now, And now no soil nor cautel doth besmirch The virtue of his will, but you must fear, His greatness weighed, his will is not his own, or he himself is subject to his birth. (1.3.14 18) According to Laertes, Hamlet could not possibly love Ophelia because his is a prince and Ophelia a mere maid. Hamlet is bound by his regency to love and marry a princess of equal rank and stature. In lines 30 33, Laertes preaches the importance of Ophelia s chastity: If with too credent ear you list his songs, Or lose your heart, or your chaste treasure open To his unmustered importunity.

  • 9. Third Man Setting The Third Man The Third Man, directed by Carol Reed, takes place in post WWII Vienna. It is an interesting thriller following a man by the name of Holly Martins. Holly is an out of work writer that is invited to Vienna by his friend Harry Lime, who promised him a decent job upon arrival. However, when Holly arrives at Harry s home, he finds out that his friend has died. As he mourns his friend s passing, he begins to notice discrepancies in the stories surrounding his death, particularly the suggestion of a third man at the scene of the accident. Holly investigates further, leading him to the realization that Harry is in fact alive, and a peddler of altered drugs that are killing sick adults and children. In the end, Holly agrees to assist the police in capturing Harry. When Harry s lover, Anna Schmidt, interrupts the set up to trap him, he runs into the sewers where he is eventually shot and killed. This film was successful due to its good setting, supporting soundtrack, and profound message.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The city is divided into sectors controlled by four different nations: the English, Russians, Americans, and French. The multiple authorities cause tension and a sense of confusion and fear. This helps add to the questionable atmosphere as Holly is investigating his friend s supposed murder. Another important part about the setting is the sewer tunnels that Harry uses to sneak around while pretending to be dead. This tunnel system was hidden and more intricate than the police or Holly knew, which mirrors Harry s situation. Holly is less familiar with the city and the sewer system, much like he is less familiar with Harry s darker ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Crossing Cormac Mccarthy The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy takes the reader on a journey through Mexico and South Western United States through the eyes of the protagonist Billy Parham, a young cowboy who began the story as young and naive, wishing for an adventure. He finds it when Billy captures the wolf that he and his father were hunting and, instead of killing the animal, he instead decides to take her back to the Mexican Mountains. Along the way, he began to deeply care for it and believe that it s a being of great order that knew what men do not, willing to risk his own life to guarantee her safety (McCarthy 59 60). However, on his trip, Billy and the wolf get caught by Mexican authorities who decide to give the wolf to a circus. When Billy is released,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the literary criticism Borders and Boundaries of Religion and the Mind in Cormac McCarthy s The Crossing by Susan Rojas, the ex priest was seen to exemplify characteristics that made him both a foundation of the novel s spiritual core and an example of how crossing a border of the mind can lead to negative effects. While Billy crossing one of his mental boundaries made him harsher, it allowed him to survive in the harsh environments he was in. However, for the ex priest, the mental boundaries was what kept him sane and with purpose. Rojas states how the ex priest illustrates the paradox of the boundaries and borders of the mind as these mental boundaries are necessary evils because they provide the rigidity needed for a seeking mind and can liberate and free the mind through containment (Rojas 2). The ex priest continuously crosses these borders and boundaries which allow him to become more and more aware of his own life and the actions he takes (7). The ex priest realized that he had conflicts over which religion he belonged to, Catholic or Mormonism, as he states that I am a Mormon. Or I was, showing that he was not sure where he belonged, and continuously phasing from a religion to another, crossing mental borders continuously (Rojas 8, McCarthy 140). These continuous mental crosses between two boundaries made him lose sanity as his religious life was boundless, unmanaged, making it hard for him to understand his true purpose, as seen in the literary criticism by Peter Mundik, The Illusion of Proximity: The Ex:Priest and the Heretic in Cormac McCarthy s THE CROSSING: Book II (Mundik). This proves the idea that crossing mental boundaries leads to unchangeable mental alterations that may benefit or hurt a person. While Billy s crossing of his mental boundary was only temporary ... • 11. Operation Uranus Scene Analysis Fighting in the streets in Stalingrad was a hellish scene. The plague of rats that infested the city, the dead bodies left out in the open and the emergence of skilled snipers greatly affect both German and Russian forces. With the winter approaching and the halt of the 6th Army and the 4th Panzer Army in Stalingrad, the Russian Army decides to take action in order to turn the battle. The turning point of the battle came with a huge Soviet counteroffensive, code named Operation Uranus (November 19 23), which had been planned by Generals Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, Aleksandr Mikhailovich Vasilevsky, and Nikolay Nikolayevich Voronov (Limbach, 2015). Operation Uranus called for Soviet forces to encircle the German forces and attack on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the German soldier are starting to die mysteriously. German medical experts are sent to the front lines to investigate the cause. The findings conclude that the men are dying from starvation. German reinforcements attempt to rescue the doomed 6th and 4th Panzer armies but are unable to break through the Russian forces from the east. The Russian forces soon after begin to close the encircle enemy. Seeing the inevitability of surrender, Hitler orders Paulus not surrender and fight to the death (Limbach, 2015). Hitler even goes so far as to promote Paulus to the rank of Field Marshall and reminding Paulus that now German Field Marshall has ever surrendered. The Volga River has frozen over solid and the Russian Army starts to transport troops and equipment on the river to further attack the Germans. By January, the Nazi Armies were surrounded by seven Russian armies and Paulus has no choice but to surrender. • 12. The Experience Of An Indian Citizen As we boarded the plane to India, my father said, Boys, I planned this trip for one specific reason. When we return home, both of you are going to be different. You just wait. I was not sure what to expect from this trip, but I did know that my dad was not joking. Somehow he was going to do something the make this trip a memorable one. The second we landed, I knew how this trip was going to be different; instead of treating us like tourists, he set everything up so we would experience Indiafrom the perspective of an Indian citizen. As a child, my family and I would travel into Philadelphia quite often. We would go to out to dinner and go sightseeing. I would run up the art museum stairs like Rocky, just not nearly as fast. The majestic building was created by large stone slabs and magnificently large pillars. We would sit in the blistering heat of the sun watching the rowers continuously pound away at the water rowing against the tide, preparing for their big race. There were always beggars, constantly bombarding you, asking for money. My parents always taught me to never offer less fortunate people money, but instead, offer them food or a drink. Most of the time when you offer the beggars money, they will take it to buy drugs or alcohol, or they could pretend to be poor and pocket the money. I carried these same experiences over to India with me. But India is much different than America. You cannot walk a foot without seeing a beggar on the side of the road. ... The sun ... As a beginner it can be tough to perform some poses since there are different ones with different names. Also, it may be challenging to do complete certain poses if we are not familiar with how to precede a pose. For example, when I first tried yoga I had no clue what was going on or how to remain in a certain position. Though not being familiar with the different poses that were being practice during my first yoga class, helped me relax my body and tension that I was holding on. In a way that I was able to listen to the teacher and just be mindful. Yoga poses have been catalogued since before written history. Depictions of yoga poses were found engraved on soapstone seals in the ruins of the cities of Mohenjo Daro and Harappa, which flourished at least 5,000 years ago in the Indus River Valley (Rockwood, Media, 2009). Article #1 Major points: The major points that the article focused on were that since people have first stepped foot on this continent, flooding has always been present. This constant presence has required the federal and local governments to help assist with the flood control, management, and the damages that flooding causes. There have been many policies established to help with floodplain management, but since the terrorist attack on September 11th, the risk analysis approach has taken precedent over the other policies (Galloway 302). Different disasters in our history have encouraged a variety of action from the government and other organizations. For instance, failing dams prompted a national dam safety program and analyzed the risks of those living below dams (301). Also, after Hurricane Katrina, levee maintenance importance was increased; as there were major levee malfunctions that heightened the destruction. The Internet Of Things The Revolutionary Creation The Liberation Of The World Wide Web Gary Kwong 8/11/2014 Dr. Michael Jones CIS 206 Business Software Applications Abstract Much like the telephone or the automobile, the internet has dramatically changed the way people work and live. Unlike the telephone or the automobile, though, the internet has single handedly led to the creation of a relatively free space, where people around the world gather to share ideas, collaborate, mingle, and invent a future with new possibilities that no one knew they needed today. From its humble beginning as a relatively inexpensive lab project aimed at improving workflows to its rise against tyranny in world affairs, a worldwide obsession with the internet has gone viral and will likely sweep non discriminatorily to all parts of the globe. As this loosely regulated environment, also known as Cyberspace, the Net or the Web , matures; it is the civic duty of its users to ensure that the door to the information gateway remains open and accessible as it continues to disrupt all industry and influence all aspects of human conditions. Introduction The worldwide use of the internet is practically indispensible. Yet, its origin only dates back to the early 1950s. No invention in history has grown so fast to touch so many lives. Forty years since the United States, the same country whose constitution protects its citizen from cruel and unusual punishment, defended physical aggression against children. However, corporal punishment has continued to be practiced in thousands of schools, despite innumerable case studies, experiments, and testimonies that deny its validity. Corporal punishment should stop being practiced in schools because it does not fix behavioral issues and because it leaves lasting physical and emotional scars on a child. Aggression is an indirect or direct attack on an issue in society pertaining to an individual or as situation. It is displayed in the form of humor mixed with play to create paradoxical situations in the book. For instance, the scene in which Aardvark rapes and kills a woman in chapter 39: I only raped her once explained Aarfy. I had to do that after I raped her (Heller 418). Heller strategically creates Aarfy to be a dispassionate individual. He shows no compassion or discomfort when discussing the murder he just committed. He justifies his actions through selfish means. When Yossarian confronted Aarfy about his actions his reaction is incongruent with the abomination that he just committed. Any normal human being would have shown remorse for the life that was just lost, not Aarfy. By utilizing aggression Heller is able to highlight the loss of sanity within characters such as Aarfy. His mind has been desensitized to death and he no longer fears taking an innocent civilian s life because he has distanced himself from pain and any emotional realm. This satirical example of aggression also shows the flaws in law enforcement. When Yossarian expresses his anger towards Aarfy and warns him about the fate that awaits him. Kitty observes Anna s dance with Vronsky, and the feelingthat she will never truly come to understand everything in the way Anna does hits her hard. • 26. The Theme Of Neologism In Lewis Carroll s Jabberwocky As a society, it is seen as important to be pure of actions and mind, a way of life strongly sponsored by the ideas of Judeo Christian culture. Aiming to commit mostly pure actions in life when people are watching, this desire to appear pure is shoved to the side when alone or in a survival situation. Nature provides a place to be alone and can endanger our state of life to some extent, so when members of society are separated from society as a whole in nature, they are more likely to commit actions such as the murder of animals with the justification of survival in mind. Lewis Carroll understood this idea, which he used as an inspiration for writing his poem Jabberwocky. In order to portray the theme of man vs nature in his poem Jabberwocky , Carroll utilizes tone, neologisms, and repetition to further the idea that nature can distort the ideas of humanity to the point of committing foul actions but is not affected by such actions. Throughout this poem, the tone is used often to create an atmosphere of mystery in the poem. Like nature itself, the idea of the Jabberwocky is mysterious and malevolent, which Carroll uses to represent the darkest intentions of humanity itself. With having this dark, mysterious tone, Carroll utilizes words such as vorpal , uffish , and tulgey to create a sense of entrapment for the speaker by using harsh sounds. • 33. Indigenous And Non Indigenous People As I was not born or raised in Australia, I had no idea about Indigenous Australian history before I came across this unit. The only idea I had is that Indigenous Australians receive special treatment such as more welfare and handouts from the government. Before I started this unit, I was expecting to learn Indigenous culture and traditions as I have been taught in my diploma unit before. However, in the very first lecture, Corrinne surprised me by being a white Indigenous people and the way she made us think in their shoes. She made us think how the Indigenous people felt like when the invasion began. I started to understand, this is a very crucial topic for both Indigenous and non Indigenous people as we are learning the history and the presence with heavy hearts. After listening to lectures, reading articles and communicate on the forum with other students, I had a better understanding of Reconciliation. As I learned that Aboriginal people are the first people on this land, however they were excluded, ignored and spurned in Australian written history for the first 190 years. After the Federation in 1901, Aboriginal people had become victims of colonizer s indulgence with racial purity. Having been intruded, colonized, quashed, enthralled and animalized, Aboriginal people became an inconvenient evidence of the crucial eviction. I get to see my own urges, those I m not really aware of such as the urge to multi task. Practicing mindfulness meditation and other mindfulness practices I learned to become in touch with my own urges and to control them through awareness and self discipline. So, here are a few reflections for your coffee time. As you sip on your deliciously made aromatic coffee, tea or hot cocoa accept these thoughts for your reflection. Finally, at the 3rd mindfulness class I took with Daniel, I decided to do the homework he had suggested to everyone, which was to do one thing we do routinely during the day, mindfully. That is to be with the experience of it and fully giving it our undivided attention. For example, if we chose brushing our teeth, he said, to brush slowly, feel every stroke as the brush moved around the mouth, what it felt like, the taste of the tooth paste, what the mind was doing; observe everything about that experience, while also focusing on our breath. Vaccines And The Anti Vaccine Argument As healthy as my lifestyle seemed, I contracted measles, mumps, rubella, a type of viral meningitis, scarlatina, whooping cough, yearly tonsillitis, and chickenpox, some of which are vaccine preventable (Parker 1). This quote by vaccine advocate Amy Parker, a woman who was not vaccinated as a child, shows just a glimpse into the life of an unvaccinated individual. Parents who do not vaccinate their children claim many different reasons for their decision. Three of the most popular reasons are: religious grounds, health problems as a result from vaccines, and the belief that the illnesses are rare. Each of these reasons can be proven as nonessential in the anti vaccineargument. First of all, religion has become a frequently used excuse. Recently, a case arose in New York City when three families obtained vaccinationexemptions due to religious reasons (NYC Court 1). Because they chose to not vaccinate their children, their children were not allowed to attend school during times when another student had a vaccine preventable illness (NYC Court 1). Naturally, this sparked an uproar among the parents, who then sued the city by claiming it was a violation of their First Amendment right to religious freedom and their 14th Amendment right to equal protection under the law (NYC Court 1). Through the years many codes have been imposed to fix problems have occurred in the construction of the building or after it been constructed. Building codes are interpenetrated different depending on the location it s being built. This is due to local officials of the area who have the power to change codes or arrange than to meet the requirement for the area. The reason every country, state, and the city have their own way to interpenetrate codes differently is because the buildingmust adapt to the surrounding area. Dew still perched on the delicate leaves of various summer flowers while we rode down the road towards Tennessee. My friend Sarah drove. • 52. Influences On Victorian Gothic Literature Influences on Victorian gothic literature; religion, psychology, science and spirituality. Many great authors such as Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker indulged in the world of the supernatural with gothic novels such as Dracula and Frankenstein. However the origins of such tales and the Victorian obsession with the paranormal are not commonly explored. The gothic genre in fact dates back as far as 1765. The classic English gothic novel began with the author Horace Walpole and his novel, The Castle of Otranto: A Gothic Story. Walpole claimed that he had found an ancient manuscript which he then translated, thus creating his story. However, from what seems to be a recurring theme in Victorian spiritualism, this also was revealed as being false. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a clear divide within the gothic genre which develops the perception of the church and religion during the Victorian period. On one hand many gothic novels view the church as an evil which corrupts society, whereas on the other hand religion and symbolism are the bringers of peace and eradicators of evil. For example within Bram Stoker s Dracula, the cross of the Christian faith is seen to drive away evil spirits and even Vampires. This portrays the Christian faith as a saviour of man, showing the willpower of God. Yet in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, God s creation is questioned when man essentially takes life into his own hands, in the form of Victor Frankenstein creating the monster. Both sides of the argument are controversial, forcing gothic literature into genre which continues to cause controversy today. Although gothic literature and the church seem be inherently different, there are some featured similarities. Both the church and gothic fiction depend upon society to drive forwards their success.
