Dress Code Discrimination
Introduction The way in which females dress has played a large role in the sexualization of girls.
Recently, researchers have observed that the increase in production and marketing of sexy clothing
for females has resulted in the inducement of discrimination and sexualization towards girls
(Harbach, 2016). In the educational setting, these ideas have been laid out in policies such as dress
codes. The main purpose of school dress codes is to reduce disruption by removing the stimulus
that is causing the distraction (Arns, 2017). Moreover, as clothing has induced genderbased
discrimination towards females, their body has become the distraction. However, gender based
discrimination is not the only discrimination present in the dress... Show more content on

In earlier years, those of African American race were the main targets in schools. Gangs were
known to be made up of African American members. This steered schools to make their dress
codes stricter against African Americans in order to prevent and decrease gang violence in
schools (Wilson, 1998). During the 1960 s, immigrants from Mexico rapidly began to migrate to
America. This led to an augmentation in discrimination and exclusion of those of Hispanic race
(Mora, 2008). In recent years, sociologists have suggested that club owners have utilized dress
codes to discriminate against Hispanic and African Americans. The systematic evidence found
that African Americans and Hispanics were denied access to the clubs more often than those of
white race were (Goldsmith, 2017). In recent years, researchers have found that states such as
Oklahoma, Idaho and Florida have increasingly implemented stricter policies restricting natural
Black hairstyles such as dreads and afro puffs (Macon, 2015). On the other hand, in a poll
released last year through NPR by Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health, a majority of whites
say discrimination against them exists in America today (Gonyea, 2017). Notable, however, is that
from those who stated that their race is discriminated upon, a much smaller percentage says that
they have experienced it. Furthermore, racial discrimination seems to be present in every race,
even if it is

Copper Is A Natural Resource Essay
Copper
The reasons why copper is a natural resource. Copper is one the most used natural resources.
Copper is used for many things. It is considered a natural resource because the Earth makes it.
Copper is formed when molten rock has copper fluid crystalizes and forms into a solid substance. It
is turned into copper because copper solidifies sooner than any other materials. Then the final
deposits at a high concentration. A natural resourceis: materials or substances such as minerals,
forests, water, and fertile land that occur in nature and can be used for economic gain.
Is copper renewable or not renewable? Copper is not renewable. You cannot keep making copper
because copper is made from the Earth. We end up using copper... Show more content on

We use about 5.8 billion pounds of copper each year. We use copper for our money here in the
United States. The copper is used in our pennies. Just in pennies we make about 13 billion
pennies a year. All of that is copper. A penny weighs about 0.088 ounces. Another thing that we
use copper for is electricity. Copper is a great conductor of electricity. Copper is able to take heat
very well when running electricity because the conduct electrons. Copper is malleable and
ductile. Since it is very ductile it allows us make wiring out of it. It is very well good at conducting
heat so you will see it a lot in motor vehicle radiators and home heater systems. It is also used in air
conditioning. Copper is not really corrosive so that is why people will see it in pipes, water pipes.
The only problem with the pipes made out of copper is that copper will bend and break really
easy. Some copper is used in gun designs. They were also used for making swords and shields.
Very few were made out of helmets but it was still used for that way back when. Also copper was
well known for killing bacteria. So in the past they used it to treat wounds for patients because it
could kill the bacteria. It was also used on the sides of ships to protect it from algae and other
bacteria that may have harmed the boat. Copper has been used for a long time. It dates back to
about ten thousand years

Herberger And Hale
Hale s production of You Can t Take It With You was breathtaking with its core concepts,
portrayal of emotion, and plot. When comparing this with Herberger s production of You Can t
Take It With You, you can begin to see the ideas mixing together as they bounce of one another so
well. However, not all things were exactly alike in the two seemingly identical versions of the
same play. The first concept in which ideas were ever changing was the interpretation of characters
in both plays. In Hale s production, Grandpa as seen as an slow, semi serious man; but when
looking at Grandpa in Herberger s production, you can see him as a more of a lively, humorous
character. This change in portrayal can also be seen in Rheba. In Herberger s play,... Show more

Some props that I felt were used differently in both productions mostly pertain to the aspect of
music. In the Herberger s production of You Can t Take It With You, music is incorporated a lot
in ways such as commercials, cello, and guitar. Hale s show lacked all of these elements that I felt
really helped contribute to the sense of family and fellowship in You Can t Take It With You. By
incorporating the commercials, the audience could effectively be transported to a place in which it
is 1938. This really helped change the mindset of the audience into allowing them to connect with
the characters in the production on a deeper level. The guitar was also very important, because it
also introduce a new member into this family. By adding the guitar, Herberger s production was
able to give the Vanderhoff s a range of kindness/generosity. This showed the audience that the
Vanderhoff s would take in anyone no matter background, personality, or timing of arrival. This
really secured the bond in this wonderfully bizarre group of people, allowing a connection to be
formed between the audience and

Ivo Perelman Living Jelly Analysis
Ivo Perelman continues exhibiting his musical virtue with a variety of different projects throughout
New York.
This time around, the venue was the Manhattan Inn, located in Brooklyn, where he performed with
a trio of frequent collaborators: the bassist Joe Morris and the drummer Gerald Cleaver, also
dominant figures in the free jazz scene.
In a few months, the highly expressionist saxophonist is going to release another five albums on
Leo Records, entitled The Art of the Improv Trio Volumes 1 to 5. One of them will feature this
powerhouse trio with one difference: Morris will be playing guitar instead of bass, exactly as it
happened in 2012 with the album Living Jelly .

How Different Gender Will Affect The Reaction Rate Of 13
YR 12
INVESTIGATION: REACTION TIMES.
BY CAITLIN DAWSON
TITLE: How different gender will affect the reaction rate of 13 to 17 years olds.
ABSTRACT: This investigation entailed the study of wether gender will affect the reaction times
when tested. The average visual reaction time for a human is 0.25 seconds (250 milliseconds) and
the average touch reception is 0.15 seconds (150 milliseconds), adding both these figures gives
and estimated group time of 0.40 seconds (400 milliseconds). The average reaction speed for the
boys was 342 and the average reaction speed for the girls was 392, in relation to average reaction
speed these results are quite accurate as the age bracket was younger and smaller than the expected
averages for humans. This investigation is well related to society as the measurement of visual
reaction time has been used to evaluate the processing speed of Central Nervous System and the co
ordination between the sensory and motor systems, when shown a visual stimulus.
Stimulus Sensory Neuron Spinal Cord/Brain Motor Neuron = Response.
INTRODUCTION: Reaction time plays a very important role in our lives as it determines our
every day life, factors that can affect the average human reaction time including age, gender,
exercise/ health, distractions, height etc. Reaction time is a measure of how quick organisms can
respond to types of stimulus, e.g visual or auditory. A reflex is a rapid, automatic response to a

High School Vs. College Life
As we go on in life we face many challenges and new situations that we deal with. A new situation
that most people deal with is on college and high school. School plays one of the most significant
stages in our lives. Many people spend more than 16 years to get an education in their life. Those
years are different levels, some of them are more entertaining than others. A student must pass
through high school and college life in their student life. Even though people think that high school
and college level are same, there is an important difference between them. Although high school and
college life are divided among academic point of view, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hours of credit classes are fixed by the administration in high school, without any flexibility.
Classes are distributed on annual basis. Students get many excuses from missing classes, late
submission of homework in high school whereas they get to lose their grades in college life. In
High School, teacher manages to take their students to different educational excursion program,
visit new places, parks, etc., whereas these are not done in college life. Parents can check for the
grades of their kids in high school, but in college life, it is considered as privacy. It is easy to
make friends in high school but in college life, it depends on common interest. These are some of
the experiences done by almost every individual in high school life. College, on the other hand,
is a choice if one wants to attend or not. An individual who is attending college life usually pays
for his own education. Since they pay for their own education, they work hard enough to get
success in their career. College life has much freedom of time schedule. They are flexible to work
and study as per their need. This level prepares every individual to develop understanding and
maintain a good career in life. Therefore, an individual after finish college degree can easily get a
job. As soon as a person entered in college a sense of maturity comes to him. They realize
everything in college is materialistic and college level is very practical. College life prepares

Call Of Duty Vs Snapchat
The PR case study I have chosen to write about is from Prnewsonline.com , the article is called
How Call of Duty Used Snapchat to Ignite its community. This case study talks about how the
two companies teamed up to get Call of Duty players interested in Black Ops 3. Working
together the duo was even able to win a 2015 PR News Digital PR Award. I chose this case study
because I love playing video games and Call of Duty is one of my favorite games. Now Call of
Duty and Snapchat are both majors companies, with too many people still focused on Black Ops
2 Call of Black Ops 3 was in trouble. While Snapchat is a growing company they were a perfect
choice to help with the games demographic. Now every gamer loves hacks weather they admit it
or not, the campaign team used that to their advantage. By appearing as a hack they knew it would
gather more people s attentions. Public relations practitioners should be familiar with their

was disguised as a standard game update. All gamers will always upgrade because it means better

the sixth floor, and what building I was in in general, but the remembrance of the floor number
button six lighting up separately three times is etched into my memory. For a second the elevator

complete darkness consumed the machine, I felt it abruptly jolt and begin to descend. Within

Warren G. Harding
Daniel Butchen Essay # 8 The 1920 s were a time of prosperity in our country. War was over,
businesses were booming, and everybody seemed to be having a good time. This was especially
true for president Warren G. Harding. He was a man that enjoyed women, poker, and drinking
during a time when alcohol was supposed to be illegal. More controversial was his use of liquor.
Throughout his adult life Harding drank and saw nothing wrong in it. He was never personally
committed to Prohibition, even though he had voted for it and, like many Americans, pretended
the law did not apply to him. He was careful to serve liquor only in his private rooms in the White
House and would sometimes take visitors there for that purpose. It was later claimed... Show more

This was known as the Teapot Dome Scandal . Fall was found guilty in court and was even
sentenced to jail time. While this wasn t directly Harding s fault, it dealt a huge blow to his
reputation. This was Harding s biggest mistake; the people he hired. Still, Harding did manage
to do some damage to his own reputation with his actions. After Harding passed away a women
named Nan Britton had come out publicly saying Harding had an affair with her, and had
fathered her child. While it was swept under the rug successfully during his years in office, it
was pretty well known that this was true. While Harding is mostly known for his scandals and
inactivity, he did accomplish some things in office. He had kept a very successful watch over
the budget and government spending. He had fought for civil rights and had gone into America
s most racist city, Birmingham, Alabama, and delivered a key civil rights speech. However, his
successes are overmatched by his scandals, and in 1923, 3 years after being elected, Harding had
been through enough physically and mentally, and died while in office. He was succeeded by his
vice president, Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge had a very different personality than Harding. Coolidge
was a rather cold person. He spoke in a high pitched, squeaky voice and spoke as little as possible.
He had a dry sense of humor and was

Clinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss )
Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve
the decision making ability of people interacting with it(NiГЁs et al., 2010). Hospitals with
integrated Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS(Jonathan Teich,
Saldana, Levick, 2012). Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record(EHR), laboratory
information system, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system
and pharmacy information system combine together to form an integrated HIS(NiГЁs et al.,
2010). Each piece of the HIS is essential to generate proper CDSS suggestions in the form of on
screen alerts, that have been found to be most effective(Shojania et al., 2009). Diagnostic
laboratory testing has been steadily increasing over time in many medical settings all over the
world. Hence, proper laboratory testing is crucial for better patient health(van Walraven Naylor,
1998). Laboratory testing of patients can be inappropriate, and mostly it is repetitive
testing(Neilson, 2004). The integrated HIS itself can also be a factor in encouraging repetitive
examination, it can be based on different factors such as, when there is a disconnect between the
HIS workflow and the physician s workflow, test ordered in another department may not be shown
in another department, tests taken by the patient at a different location of the same hospital group,
patient recently taking the test in a different hospital group(Koppel Ross,

Durability Implants can last many years and even a lifetime.
Convenience Dental implants get rid of the inconvenience of removing dentures. Also, Implants
don t require adhesives to keep them in place.
But Are There Risks in Dental Implant Surgery?
There is nothing like risk free surgery. Fortunately, problems in dental implant surgery are rare, and
usually minor and easily treated. Dental implant surgery may pose the following health risks:
Infection at the site of the implantation.
Injury to surrounding teeth or blood vessels.
Sinus problems Sinus problems can occur when dental implants sited in the upper jaw protrude into
one of the sinus cavities.
Nerve damage The risk of nerve damage varies with the implant site. Symptoms of nerve damage
include pain, numbness or tingling in the patient s natural teeth, gums, lips or chin.
Dental implant surgery offers numerous benefits and has a general success rate of up to 98%. If

ENERGY IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
Abstract
This report discusses the role of energy in sustainable development goals. The report highlights on
the target set by the United Nations and the time frame given to achieve these targets. Some of the
challenges hindering sustainable development especially in the poor sections of the population and
measures needed to be taken have also been identified. It concludes with the primary principles and
basic practices needed to be taken in order to achieve the sustainable development goals.
Introduction
Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland report,
1987). This really emphasizes on the needs and the idea of limitations often related to the world
s poor on how to bridge the gap of needs and the environment (including climate) now and the
future. Basically, it elaborates on the equality of the life between the rich and the poor (that is,
how the poor can be on par with the rich) in terms of standard of living. Also, it draws attention to
the use of green technologies in order to build a better and brighter future. I believe this cannot be
achieved easily, therefore the possibility of achieving this can be very low, but with strong
initiatives and plans, the bridge can be narrowed. An effective tool for this can

The Aircraft Manufacturing Industry During World War II
During World War II, the aircraft manufacturing industry took off. According to Dr. Bright (1978),
by the year 1944 it was the largest industry in America (p. 1). It soon declined in the years following
due to material flaws, lack in engine performance, and production manufacturing methods. One
contributing factor was metal fatigue, this occurs when metal parts that undergo many repeated
strains eventually fail at a loading far below their original ultimate strength , Garrison (2005) (p. 1).
Manufacturers at the time primarily used aluminum and steel, because of their overall strength and
how readily they were available. What engineers did not consider was the abuse the airframes
would take over time. This factor went overlooked, resulting in numerous crashes with fatalities.
Although cheaper to manufacture, piston type airplane engines require more maintenance than that
of their jet enginecounterparts. In fact, a jet engine can go for 3,000 hours while an overhaul for
a piston aircraft is generally 2,000 hours , Piston Engine (2011). This source goes on to compare
the average top speed of a piston engine driven aircraft which is usually around 200 KIAS. This is
relatively slow when compared to the average jet engine that can reach 300 KIAS.
The manufacturing industry took a big hit after the war, Bugos (2001) found that total sales by
American aircraft firms were $16 billion in 1944; by 1947 they were only $1.2 billion, . However,
finances weren t the only

Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome Phenotypes
Investigation As stated in the introduction there are multiple ways in which a gene can and does
mutate. Some go unnoticed for the affected individual s life. Others, like cancer causing mutations,
are detrimental and occasionally deadly. These mutations are either categorized as somatic or
hereditary and each effect individuals in different manners. Somatic mutations are acquired. This
means they happen later in life, cannot be passed down, and only affect certain cells. Hereditary
mutations are inherited from parents and can continue for generations. They affect almost every
cell in the body and are with the affected individual for life. With androgeninsensitivity the
inheritance pattern is X linked recessive making it hereditary and passed... Show more content on

While there are three phenotypes for androgen insensitivity, for the purpose of this particular paper,
the complete androgen insensitivity syndrome phenotype will be the one elaborated upon. The
typical phenotype for someone with androgen insensitivity is hyper feminization of a male (with
XY sex chromosomes) to the point where the genitalia are not masculine and may contain
elementary mГјllerian structures (Gottlieb et al. 1999). The male embryo should produce a protein
in the womb known as the Anti MГјllerian hormone which is facilitated by the AMH gene a cluster
of proteins that ensures sex differentiation occurs in fetal development. It is entirely possible that a
male embryo does not release the Anti MГјllerian hormone because the testis are not suppressing
the mГјllerian structures. In turn the wolffian ducts, structures that include the epididymis, vas
deferens, and seminal vesicles, only partially die. Partially is used here because there are both male
and female characteristics presented by those with androgen insensitivity. AMH should interact with
the Anti MГјllerian hormone receptors to target the MГјllerian ducts and kill the structures. Without
the supressment rudimentary MГјllerian structures begin to present themselves, since the embryo is
genetically male and has more development to do to characterize itself as such the structures do not
get fully finished. These structures would hold the ability to produce female characteristics as they
would need to serve their purpose in the

The Importance Of Natural Disasters
Natural disasters play a significant role in the world. Natural disasters have demonstrated to be a
force that humanity has no control over. Regardless of the technological advances natural disasters
continue to exist and occur through the world. Several technology advances have been created to
predict natural disasters; however these occurrences cannot be controlled.I live in the state of
California. A state that is earthquakeprone. Earthquakes occur at any time, they are forceful and

FEMA California experiences the most recurrent damaging earthquakes, but Alaska experiences the
highest amount of large earthquakes that are mostly located in unpopulated areas. Besides
California there are other parts of the world that are affected by earthquakes. According to USGS,
Japan is a country that resides in a very active seismic area; therefore Japan is a country that
experiences earthquakes regularly. Indonesia is another part of the world that is located in a

Children s Responsibilities For Children
Every adult who has children knows it is a challenging experience and extremely rewarding,
especially when the children grow to be responsible, independent, caring, productive adults and
parents in their own right. After helping raise my own children, being a professional martial arts
instructor since 1979, teaching thousands of children and helping other parents raise their children
(so they tell me), here are 10 keys I feel are important to raising children successfully.
1. Leadership
Kids need a leader, someone who is strong, responsible, caring and committed to their highest and
best good. What children do not need is to be the parent to their parents. Children do not need to
be buddies, pals or best friends with their parents until they, the children, are adults. Children are
children. They need leaders to lead, guide and direct them through their early life. Those leaders
are the parents who need to take a front row in raising their kids. For children to be successful in
life, they need a strong parental foundation, one that puts them before their parent s careers,
activities, relationships and jobs. Children should never be thought of as appendages to a parent s
life. Until the children are of legal age, the children are the parent s life. When this commitment is
given to children, it is a boon to their early development and later success as responsible and
independent adults.
2. Structure
Children need structure. They need foundational guidelines. They need to

Responsive Reading Assignment Sociology 101
The purpose of this essay is to discuss the key ideas presented in the two articles written by Poata
Smith (2004) and Richard Pringle (2007) and to explore how these key ideas link to the central
themes and discourses introduced throughout the duration of the course so far. In sight of the word
limitations, this essay will attempt to cover fewer key ideas highlighted within these texts, but in
much more detail. Some key ideas addressed in this essay include neo liberalism, class inequalities,
biculturalism, and in part two hegemonic masculinities, gender order and negative male identities.
At the conclusion of this discussion, I will take the opportunity to reflect on my personal
engagement with the two texts.
Evan Poata Smith (2004) Maori Protest Politics and the Waitangi Settlement Process
In his article, Poata Smith (2004) acknowledges that the Crown alongside the New Zealand
Government, although not responsible for the actions of its predecessors, has taken steps to accept
its obligations to the Treaty of Waitangiand to the Maori people and to recognise breaches of the
treaty principles that it has made (p.59). The New Zealand Government, in its attempt to settle past
treaty grievances surrounding wrongful confiscation of land has divided Maori society in two: a
division between the Maori working class and the smaller Maori elite. Through neo liberal reforms

Differences And Similarities Between Vinny And Joe-Boy
Have you ever had a friend who was mean to you and argued with you? Vinny and Joe Boy are
both characters in a story called The Ravine . They are best friends who live in Hawaii and go to a
ravine to cliff jump and swim. There was a boy who died there two weeks and one day before they
arrived. Joe Boy and Vinny are different in many ways and they are similar in some ways.
Vinny is weak because he couldn t stand up to his friends and say no. One example from the text
is, Vinny smashed his lips. He was so weak. Couldn t even say no. But if he d said, I can t go,
my mother won t like it. they would ve laughed him right off the island. No, he had to go. No
choice. Vinny is weak and can t stand up to his friends. In the same way, Vinny is compassionate
because he feels scared for Starlene. On page 7, it says She has no fear, Vinny thought, no fear at
all. Pleasepleaseplease,Starlene. I don t want to see you die. He feels very nervous about Starlene
jumping off the 50 foot ledge. On the other hand, Vinny is worried about Starlene jumping and
getting hurt. The author wrote, Vinny s stomach tingled just watching her. He couldn t imagine
what it must be like to be up there, especially if you were afraid of heights, like he was. Vinny is
scared of heights and can t stand watching Starlene jump.
Joe Boy is confident. He went to the ravine because he wanted to, not because his friends want him

Soldiers come in all shapes and sizes and all deserve to be treated fairly.
There is no place for any form of harassment or discrimination in an Army that claims to Be the

Discrimination damages teams; it excludes members and does not give them a chance to contribute.
The Army recognises the importance of humour, but humour must be inclusive. Humour that
insults, ridicules or intimidates people is destructive and damages the team.
Respecting others is part of the trust that has to exist between you and your teammates; you must
judge people on their abilities and not on their race, religion or sex.

Essay on Citizen Kane Scene Analysis
Citizen Kane Scene Analysis The scene we re analyzing starts off with a shot of the New York
Daily Inquirer. It s a close shot, taking up the entire screen. I feel this close up is to show the
viewer that the newspaper company is going to be the primary focal point for Kane, and his two
partners at this point in the film. After the close up, the camera pans down to show Kane and
Leland sitting in a car looking up at the building. Kane says Take a good look at it Jedidiah, it s
going to look a lot different one of these days. Despite the look on Kane s face being one of
optimism and promise, this statement gives leeway to all of the bad things to follow. Kane

with Bernstein falling into the room, the dialogue being loud, and hurried, whimsical music

INTRODUCTION
Brazil and Mexico are two emerging markets that are becoming increasingly prevalent and
influential on the international stage. These nations share many similarities. Both are newly
industrialized developing economies, share similar cultural and societal norms and are considered
the top economies of Latin America. Brazil and Mexico both have crumbling infrastructures in dire

It has a comprehensive legal structure dividing powers among the federal, state and municipal
levels. However, its rigid and complex regulatory laws pose significant barriers for start up
businesses. In Brazil, the average time needed to start a business is 120 days, compared to a
regional average of 56.7 days. Furthermore, it takes an average of 14 days to register property in
Brazil, while the regional average is 6.8 days. This means that on average, starting a business and
registering property in Brazil takes twice as long as it would in other Latin American and
Caribbean states (Datamonitor, 2011a). Brazil s implementation of the VAT tax system also has its
flaws; the latest Latin Tax Index designated it the worst tax regime in Latin America (Datamonitor,
2011a).
Cultural Analysis
Brazil is a highly diverse and multicultural nation, consisting mostly of Native Americans,
Portuguese, and Africans. In the late 19th and early 20th century, many immigrants from Italy,
Germany and Japan migrated into the South American nation, which resulted in a multicultural and
multi ethnic society (Culture of Brazil, 2012). Because Brazil was originally a Portuguese colony
for nearly three centuries, many aspects of Brazilian culture is derived from Portuguese culture.
The Portuguese language and architectural style are examples of things that indicate a strong
Portuguese influence (Culture of Brazil, 2012).
Portuguese is spoken by nearly 99%

Eyewitness Testimony On The Criminal Justice System
Psychological research shows that eyewitness testimony is not always accurate; therefore it should
not be used in the criminal justice system. Discuss.
Word Count: 2,589
There has been considerable interest and study in the accuracy or inaccuracy of the use of
eyewitness testimonies in the current criminal justice system. Results collated by several studies
add to the bulk of literature suggesting that the current usage of eyewitness testimony by the legal
system is far from ideal. Currently, high emphasis is being placed on reviewing and reconsidering
eyewitness accounts (Leinfelt, 2004). In particular, recent DNA exoneration cases have
substantiated the warnings of eyewitness identification researchers by showing that mistaken
eyewitness identification was the largest single factor contributing to the conviction of innocent
people (Wells Olson, 2003). In this essay, the use of eyewitness testimony in the criminal justice
system will be explored, with a particular focus on the impreciseness of this practice.
Although Although theoretically conferencing may be seen as a viable alternative for adolescents
to court proceedings, and indeed some evidence suggests it reduces recidivism, it will ultimately be
concluded that the success of restorative justice programs depends on more than just its ability to
reduce recidivism, and thus it will not always provide a useful alternative to more traditional
criminal justice approaches.

The Rise of Mass Democracy
I. The Corrupt Bargain of 1824
i. After the Era of Good Feelings, politics was transformed. The big winner of this transformation
was the common man. Specifically, the common white man as universal white manhood suffrage
(all white men could vote) became the norm. ii. In the election of 1824, there were four towering
candidates: Andrew Jackson of Tennessee, Henry
Clay of Kentucky, William H. Crawford of Georgia, and John Q. Adams of Massachusetts.
1. All four called themselves Republicans.
2. Three were a favorite son of their respective region but Clay thought of himself as a national
figure (he was Speaker of the House and author of the American System ). iii. In the results,
Jackson got the most popular votes and the most electoral votes, but he failed to get the majority in
the Electoral College. Adams came in second in both, while Crawford was fourth in the popular
vote but third in the electoral votes. Clay was 4th in the electoral vote. iv. By the 12th Amendment,
the top three electoral vote getters would be voted upon in the House of
Reps. and the majority (over 50%) would be elected president.
v. Clay was eliminated, but he was the Speaker of the House, and since Crawford had recently
suffered a paralytic stroke and Clay hated Jackson, he threw his support behind John Q. Adams,
helping him become president.
1. When Clay was appointed Secretary of the State, the traditional stepping stone to the presidency,

scientific report (written by the paleontologist who studied it) was published. The dinosaur was
given it s name after Zhenyuan Sun who took it s fossils for a deep study upon being discovered
by a local farmer. The fossils were taken to Jinzhou Paleontological Museum by Zhenyuan Sun for
further examination. The specimen was further studied by paleontologists Stephen Brusatte of the
University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom and LГј Junchang of the Chinese Academy of
Geological Sciences in Beijing. According to researchers Zhenyuanlong Suni is the largest winged
dinosaurto be discovered so far, and it was known to be carnivorous. In this paper we will examine
the time period which it lived, the climate and the area, and finally it s unique anatomical features.
Based on the researches and labs results, it is determined that Zhenyuanlong Suni lived in the
Mesozoic Era. This is one of the newest species of dinosaur that had been recovered. Its fossils
was estimated to be at around 125 to 130 million years old. This bring us to a conclusion that
Zhenyuanlong Suni exist during the Barremian Stage of the Early Cretaceous Period. Zhenyuanlong

Public Safety Outweigh Petitioner s First Amendment Right
C.The interest of public safety outweighs Petitioner s First Amendment right to record.
Petitioner s recording posed an unreasonable risk to bystanders, passing motorist, and the police,
essentially creating an inherently dangerous situation. Kelly v. Borough of Carlisle, 622 F.3d 248,
262 (3d Cir. 2010). The Third Circuit has firmly recognized that traffic stops are especially fraught
with danger to police officers. Id. A traffic stop always poses danger because of its unpredictable
nature, but even more so, when a potential suspect is on the loose. Petitioner was a suspect for a
crime of several residential break ins, which a reasonable office would assume is armed and
dangerous; thus creating a heightened risk to the officers safety. Furthermore, the Petitioner was
stopped on the side of a road congested with traffic. If the officers do not maintain control of the
situation, any unpredictable movement could result in grave injury; therefore, the police officers
acted reasonably by minimizing the unnecessary danger added by Petitioner s recording during an
already dangerous situation.
D.Petitioner s recording is not a matter of public interest that carried any expressive or
communicative purpose.
The encounter Petitioner recorded is not a matter of public interest. Although there is a broad First
Amendment right to film matters of public interest, the extend of that right to film public officials

Foreign Banking in the United States
There are several basic organizations through which a foreign banking organization such as D.
Beers Bank of South Africa may engage in banking activities or business to varying degrees in the
United States under federal law. Options for entity formation include: representative offices,
agencies, branches, Edge Act and Agreement international banking corporations, commercial

the offices of foreign banks are divided into classes and ranked roughly according to the activities
that each class may engage in. These categories are: representative offices, non depository agencies,
depository agencies, limited branch offices, wholesale branch offices, and retail branch offices. D.
Beers has narrowed down that he wants a branch or subsidiary, but within those types of bank
charters there are further distinctions
A branch is a legal and operational extension of its parent foreign bank. A branch may engage in a
wide range of bank activities such as: trading and investment activities, accepting wholesale and
foreign deposits, granting credit and acting as a fiduciary. A branch may not engage in retail
deposit taking activities. A branch is cheaper to establish than a separately chartered bank
subsidiary because a separate capital investment is not required, and the legal and accounting costs
of maintaining a separate corporation can be avoided. In addition, a branch may make larger loans

Feasibility And Merit Criteria For Our Recycling Program
The facility would contain an office area for the Sustainability Supervisor, a paid employee of
Mercer University who would be responsible for the recycling and sustainability efforts at Mercer
University. They would oversee interns responsible for maintaining and updating the website as
well as student workers who would sort recyclable materials. It would be outfitted with three

Geologists And Tourists At The Taupo Volcanic Zone ( Tvz...
Introduction In this report, I will be explaining two surface features which are visually
interesting to geologists and tourists in the Taupo Volcanic Zone (TVZ), Lake Taupo, and Mt
Ruapehu. Lake Taupo is a main tourist attraction as it is the largest lake in New Zealand with a
beautiful scenery perfect for activities like recreational fishing and sky diving. Furthermore, it
generates electrical energy via the Waikato river that is used by people all around waikato. Mt
Ruapehu is also a tourist attraction as the highest peak on the North Island with two major ski
fields and only glaciers on its slopes. Creation Believe it or not, both surface features are active
volcanoes. Lake Taupo a caldera, and Mt Ruapehu a stratovolcano. These volcanoes were
formed because TVZ is a convergent plate boundary where the Pacific (Oceanic) plate which is
more dense ,is getting subducted under the Australian (Continental) crust which is less dense.
This is being driven by a force called convection which happens in the asthenosphere which is
fluid. It is when the fluid near the core heats up, and rises due to it s low density compared to the
surrounding fluid. This fluid then cools down and sinks due to it s high density compared to the
surrounding fluid. It therefore gets near to the core again and so, repeats the cycle. The direction
of the convection can cause plate boundaries opposite and away from each other will result in
divergent plate boundaries and opposite but towards each

Information From The Caselet, Deep Blue Robotics ( Dbr )...
Response 1:
According to the information from the caselet, Deep Blue Robotics (DBR) might be facing the
following threat:
1.Malicious Software (Malware)
Malware is a class of malicious code that incorporates viruses, worms, and Trojan horses.
Specialized communication tools are used by destructive malwares in order to spread. Malwares
could be distributed by means of email and texts, Trojan horses dropped from web sites, and virus
infected records obtained from peer to peer connections. Malwares looks for existing flaws and
loopholes in the system architecture to make a peaceful and simple entrance.
Head office and manufacturing company resources are connected through Virtual Private

transmission between connected devices. A security threat still exists if either end of the connected
devices is infected by a malware. This can potentially result in loss of information, information
damage, or even equipment damage.
2.Social Engineering
Social engineering is the ability of manipulating people to give up confidential information. The
most common Social Engineering attack is targeted to trick the victim into giving away their
passwords or bank information or having someone access your computer to secretly install a
malware which can access your passwords, bank information and other sensitive information stored

The Value Of Interpersonal Skills
The Value of Interpersonal Skills in Everyday Life and Business
Lisa Roberts Nicholas
University of the People
Assignment 6
Abstract
Thomas Malone of MIT Solan School discussed impersonal skills importance and his research,
measuring intelligence groups. He felt that interpersonal skill are more important than before
because it has become more important to think of businesses, and organizations not just in terms
of how efficient or how productive they are but also in terms of their intelligence. Findings to his
research lead to the discovery that for a group to be collectively intelligent it must have a lot of
people who are socially perceptive. So even though his test was done based on reading emotions
and eyes it must be completed with a much broader range of interpersonal skills, what you might
call intelligence. (H. (n.d.). Why Interpersonal Skills Are More Important Than You Think). The
following skills which we use in our personal and business communications are valuable to
interpersonal skills.
Listening is the ability to accurately receive and interpret messages during the communication
process. For there to be effective communication, listening must play the essential part. The inability
to listen effectively can contribute to easily misunderstanding messaged.
Example: A bosswho listens to his employees overheard his assistant complaint of feeling unwell

tool takes state chart represented in DSL as an input. It consists of three components known as
interpreter, transformer and code generator. The interpreter takes DSL as an input and generates
intermediate transition table. The transformer generates transformed transition table from the
intermediate transition table. The transformer focuses on resolving concepts like state hierarchy,
state composition, compound transition, etc in the intermediate transition table. The transformed

Judith Lasater Biography
In the midst of the current yoga trend, a new book on the subject seems to be popping up every
week. The once small yoga section of the local bookstore seems to be quickly expanding with
books on philosophy, sanskrit, anatomy, yoga posture s, how to take yoga photos, and the list goes
on and on. However, I question whether or not our society needs more general information about
the subject of yoga. Instead, I think we are in desperate need of the guidance that teaches us how
to use yoga and mindfulness in a way that will improve our relationship with life. What we need
are tools, and tools are exactly what Judith Lasater offers in her book Living your Yoga, Finding
the Spiritual in Everyday Life.
Judith Lasater was an early pioneer in the Western Yoga Movement in the 70 s, and she is also
the founder of Yoga Journal, one of the most successful and widely known yoga publications in
existence. She has walked a spiritual path for over forty years; and, in her book, she has drawn
from both her life experience and her deep knowledge of ancient spiritual teachings and filtered it
all through a western lens, ultimately providing readers with an accessible and useable handbook
on how to live life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In each section she approaches different life themes organized by chapters, such as Faith, Fear,
and Truth. In each chapter, she provides a very relatable perspective on the subject, as she writes
from her role as a wife, a mother, a teacher, or even just a driver stuck in traffic. She uses every day
examples of life ups and downs, and she provides a yogic perspective on how to navigate through it

A Sunrise On The Veld Poem Analysis
How Two Completely Different Stories Can Have So Many Similarities
The short stories, A Sunrise on the Veld and At the Pitt Rivers , have nothing in common if you
analyze them on a shallow literature level. A Sunrise on the Veld by Doris Lessing, highlights
some of the reasons why life is so valuable. Lessing hints her readers that this short story is set
somewhere in the desert by, ... the flesh of his soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs
began to ache with cold... He slung the shoes over his shoulder... they would be necessary when
the ground became too hot to bear, (Lessing, pg. 1212). Most deserts get heated by the sun by day,
but loses the heat at night. The boy starts hunting, at first, but then is distracted by a wounded buck.
Seeing this buck suffer, depicts him especially sad. A boy is also the protagonistin At the Pitt
Rivers by Penelope Lively. This boy spends his time in a museum, observing people and writing
poems as the time passes. He keeps track of a couple he sees at the museum. The couple catches his
attention because they are not his ideal of what a couple should look like. If a kindergartener read
these two short stories, he/she would find nothing in common with the stories. But, if the reader has
the ability to analyze the text in more depth, he/she would find that they are more similar than the
kindergartener would think.
As an advanced reader, a comparison that is prevalent in both stories is, society s thinking of the
ideal

Jane Addams And The Movement Of The Progressive Movement
The progressive movement began in 1890 and went to around 1920. The purpose of this was to
fix some serious issues that were happening in the country. This includes corruption, sexism
towards women, racism, discrimination against religion, big businesses and corporations, etc.
The people realized that things needed to change fast. For things to move into the right
direction, people needed to start making the right moves. Having the president on this side was
crucial as well. The leaders needed to know exactly who and what to go for to better the country
and prevent it from getting worse for the poor and common people. While not everything was
able to get fixed under the progressive movement, it served its purpose and did change a great
deal of horrible things going on in the US at the time. There are countless things that the
progressive movement had tried to fix. Protecting social welfare was one of its goals. Big issue
was the poor communities were not given the same treatment as the middle and upper class
communities. For this, Jane Addams took to a poor neighborhood and built a settlement house
that provided for the community. Instead of living and working from home, she lived in the
house herself to see what these people had to go through in their daily lives. Such reformers
believed that only by living among the poor could they help bridge the growing class divide.
(Textbook. Pg. 585). In doing so, Addams helped and inspired more women to help the poor
communities

  • 2. Dress Code Discrimination Introduction The way in which females dress has played a large role in the sexualization of girls. Recently, researchers have observed that the increase in production and marketing of sexy clothing for females has resulted in the inducement of discrimination and sexualization towards girls (Harbach, 2016). In the educational setting, these ideas have been laid out in policies such as dress codes. The main purpose of school dress codes is to reduce disruption by removing the stimulus that is causing the distraction (Arns, 2017). Moreover, as clothing has induced genderbased discrimination towards females, their body has become the distraction. However, gender based discrimination is not the only discrimination present in the dress... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In earlier years, those of African American race were the main targets in schools. Gangs were known to be made up of African American members. This steered schools to make their dress codes stricter against African Americans in order to prevent and decrease gang violence in schools (Wilson, 1998). During the 1960 s, immigrants from Mexico rapidly began to migrate to America. This led to an augmentation in discrimination and exclusion of those of Hispanic race (Mora, 2008). In recent years, sociologists have suggested that club owners have utilized dress codes to discriminate against Hispanic and African Americans. The systematic evidence found that African Americans and Hispanics were denied access to the clubs more often than those of white race were (Goldsmith, 2017). In recent years, researchers have found that states such as Oklahoma, Idaho and Florida have increasingly implemented stricter policies restricting natural Black hairstyles such as dreads and afro puffs (Macon, 2015). On the other hand, in a poll released last year through NPR by Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health, a majority of whites say discrimination against them exists in America today (Gonyea, 2017). Notable, however, is that from those who stated that their race is discriminated upon, a much smaller percentage says that they have experienced it. Furthermore, racial discrimination seems to be present in every race, even if it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Copper Is A Natural Resource Essay Copper The reasons why copper is a natural resource. Copper is one the most used natural resources. Copper is used for many things. It is considered a natural resource because the Earth makes it. Copper is formed when molten rock has copper fluid crystalizes and forms into a solid substance. It is turned into copper because copper solidifies sooner than any other materials. Then the final deposits at a high concentration. A natural resourceis: materials or substances such as minerals, forests, water, and fertile land that occur in nature and can be used for economic gain. Is copper renewable or not renewable? Copper is not renewable. You cannot keep making copper because copper is made from the Earth. We end up using copper... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We use about 5.8 billion pounds of copper each year. We use copper for our money here in the United States. The copper is used in our pennies. Just in pennies we make about 13 billion pennies a year. All of that is copper. A penny weighs about 0.088 ounces. Another thing that we use copper for is electricity. Copper is a great conductor of electricity. Copper is able to take heat very well when running electricity because the conduct electrons. Copper is malleable and ductile. Since it is very ductile it allows us make wiring out of it. It is very well good at conducting heat so you will see it a lot in motor vehicle radiators and home heater systems. It is also used in air conditioning. Copper is not really corrosive so that is why people will see it in pipes, water pipes. The only problem with the pipes made out of copper is that copper will bend and break really easy. When comparing this with Herberger s production of You Can t Take It With You, you can begin to see the ideas mixing together as they bounce of one another so well. However, not all things were exactly alike in the two seemingly identical versions of the same play. The first concept in which ideas were ever changing was the interpretation of characters in both plays. Some props that I felt were used differently in both productions mostly pertain to the aspect of music. In the Herberger s production of You Can t Take It With You, music is incorporated a lot in ways such as commercials, cello, and guitar. Hale s show lacked all of these elements that I felt really helped contribute to the sense of family and fellowship in You Can t Take It With You. By incorporating the commercials, the audience could effectively be transported to a place in which it is 1938. This really helped change the mindset of the audience into allowing them to connect with the characters in the production on a deeper level. The guitar was also very important, because it also introduce a new member into this family. By adding the guitar, Herberger s production was able to give the Vanderhoff s a range of kindness/generosity. This showed the audience that the Vanderhoff s would take in anyone no matter background, personality, or timing of arrival. BY CAITLIN DAWSON TITLE: How different gender will affect the reaction rate of 13 to 17 years olds. ABSTRACT: This investigation entailed the study of wether gender will affect the reaction times when tested. The average visual reaction time for a human is 0.25 seconds (250 milliseconds) and the average touch reception is 0.15 seconds (150 milliseconds), adding both these figures gives and estimated group time of 0.40 seconds (400 milliseconds). The average reaction speed for the boys was 342 and the average reaction speed for the girls was 392, in relation to average reaction speed these results are quite accurate as the age bracket was younger and smaller than the expected averages for humans. This investigation is well related to society as the measurement of visual reaction time has been used to evaluate the processing speed of Central Nervous System and the co ordination between the sensory and motor systems, when shown a visual stimulus. Stimulus Sensory Neuron Spinal Cord/Brain Motor Neuron = Response. INTRODUCTION: Reaction time plays a very important role in our lives as it determines our every day life, factors that can affect the average human reaction time including age, gender, exercise/ health, distractions, height etc. Reaction time is a measure of how quick organisms can respond to types of stimulus, e.g visual or auditory. Hospitals with integrated Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS(Jonathan Teich, Saldana, Levick, 2012). Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record(EHR), laboratory information system, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system and pharmacy information system combine together to form an integrated HIS(NiГЁs et al., 2010). Each piece of the HIS is essential to generate proper CDSS suggestions in the form of on screen alerts, that have been found to be most effective(Shojania et al., 2009). ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT ENERGY IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS Abstract This report discusses the role of energy in sustainable development goals. The report highlights on the target set by the United Nations and the time frame given to achieve these targets. Some of the challenges hindering sustainable development especially in the poor sections of the population and measures needed to be taken have also been identified. It concludes with the primary principles and basic practices needed to be taken in order to achieve the sustainable development goals. Introduction Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland report, 1987). This really emphasizes on the needs and the idea of limitations often related to the world s poor on how to bridge the gap of needs and the environment (including climate) now and the future. Basically, it elaborates on the equality of the life between the rich and the poor (that is, how the poor can be on par with the rich) in terms of standard of living. Also, it draws attention to the use of green technologies in order to build a better and brighter future. I believe this cannot be achieved easily, therefore the possibility of achieving this can be very low, but with strong initiatives and plans, the bridge can be narrowed. • 16. The Aircraft Manufacturing Industry During World War II During World War II, the aircraft manufacturing industry took off. According to Dr. Bright (1978), by the year 1944 it was the largest industry in America (p. 1). It soon declined in the years following due to material flaws, lack in engine performance, and production manufacturing methods. One contributing factor was metal fatigue, this occurs when metal parts that undergo many repeated strains eventually fail at a loading far below their original ultimate strength , Garrison (2005) (p. 1). Manufacturers at the time primarily used aluminum and steel, because of their overall strength and how readily they were available. What engineers did not consider was the abuse the airframes would take over time. This factor went overlooked, resulting in numerous crashes with fatalities. Although cheaper to manufacture, piston type airplane engines require more maintenance than that of their jet enginecounterparts. In fact, a jet engine can go for 3,000 hours while an overhaul for a piston aircraft is generally 2,000 hours , Piston Engine (2011). This source goes on to compare the average top speed of a piston engine driven aircraft which is usually around 200 KIAS. This is relatively slow when compared to the average jet engine that can reach 300 KIAS. This means they happen later in life, cannot be passed down, and only affect certain cells. Hereditary mutations are inherited from parents and can continue for generations. The typical phenotype for someone with androgen insensitivity is hyper feminization of a male (with XY sex chromosomes) to the point where the genitalia are not masculine and may contain elementary mГјllerian structures (Gottlieb et al. 1999). The male embryo should produce a protein in the womb known as the Anti MГјllerian hormone which is facilitated by the AMH gene a cluster of proteins that ensures sex differentiation occurs in fetal development. It is entirely possible that a male embryo does not release the Anti MГјllerian hormone because the testis are not suppressing the mГјllerian structures. In turn the wolffian ducts, structures that include the epididymis, vas deferens, and seminal vesicles, only partially die. Partially is used here because there are both male and female characteristics presented by those with androgen insensitivity. AMH should interact with the Anti MГјllerian hormone receptors to target the MГјllerian ducts and kill the structures. Without the supressment rudimentary MГјllerian structures begin to present themselves, since the embryo is genetically male and has more development to do to characterize itself as such the structures do not get fully finished. Children s Responsibilities For Children Every adult who has children knows it is a challenging experience and extremely rewarding, especially when the children grow to be responsible, independent, caring, productive adults and parents in their own right. After helping raise my own children, being a professional martial arts instructor since 1979, teaching thousands of children and helping other parents raise their children (so they tell me), here are 10 keys I feel are important to raising children successfully. 1. Leadership Kids need a leader, someone who is strong, responsible, caring and committed to their highest and best good. What children do not need is to be the parent to their parents. Children do not need to be buddies, pals or best friends with their parents until they, the children, are adults. Children are children. They need leaders to lead, guide and direct them through their early life. Those leaders are the parents who need to take a front row in raising their kids. For children to be successful in life, they need a strong parental foundation, one that puts them before their parent s careers, activities, relationships and jobs. Children should never be thought of as appendages to a parent s life. Until the children are of legal age, the children are the parent s life. When this commitment is given to children, it is a boon to their early development and later success as responsible and independent adults. 2. Structure Children need structure. It s a close shot, taking up the entire screen. I feel this close up is to show the viewer that the newspaper company is going to be the primary focal point for Kane, and his two partners at this point in the film. After the close up, the camera pans down to show Kane and Leland sitting in a car looking up at the building. Kane says Take a good look at it Jedidiah, it s going to look a lot different one of these days. The scene immediately becomes chaotic with Bernstein falling into the room, the dialogue being loud, and hurried, whimsical music being played, and a very broken conversation being had between Kane and Mr. Carter at the entrance to his office, while people are moving things into the office. The next shot is a continuation of showing how Kane is making immediate changes to the company. It starts with Kane sitting at his desk (Mr. Carter s previous office), while a weary and exasperated Mr. Carter standing at the desk, being given another broken and chaotic conversation, while Leland interrupts with a cartoon drawing, Kane interrupts twice in regards to being hungry, and Bernstein budding in to agree with Kane. In Brazil, the average time needed to start a business is 120 days, compared to a regional average of 56.7 days. Furthermore, it takes an average of 14 days to register property in Brazil, while the regional average is 6.8 days. This means that on average, starting a business and registering property in Brazil takes twice as long as it would in other Latin American and Caribbean states (Datamonitor, 2011a). Brazil s implementation of the VAT tax system also has its flaws; the latest Latin Tax Index designated it the worst tax regime in Latin America (Datamonitor, 2011a). Cultural Analysis Brazil is a highly diverse and multicultural nation, consisting mostly of Native Americans, Portuguese, and Africans. In the late 19th and early 20th century, many immigrants from Italy, Germany and Japan migrated into the South American nation, which resulted in a multicultural and multi ethnic society (Culture of Brazil, 2012). Because Brazil was originally a Portuguese colony for nearly three centuries, many aspects of Brazilian culture is derived from Portuguese culture. The Portuguese language and architectural style are examples of things that indicate a strong Portuguese influence (Culture of Brazil, 2012).

Eyewitness Testimony On The Criminal Justice System Psychological research shows that eyewitness testimony is not always accurate; therefore it should not be used in the criminal justice system. Discuss. Word Count: 2,589 There has been considerable interest and study in the accuracy or inaccuracy of the use of eyewitness testimonies in the current criminal justice system. Results collated by several studies add to the bulk of literature suggesting that the current usage of eyewitness testimony by the legal system is far from ideal. Currently, high emphasis is being placed on reviewing and reconsidering eyewitness accounts (Leinfelt, 2004). In particular, recent DNA exoneration cases have substantiated the warnings of eyewitness identification researchers by showing that mistaken eyewitness identification was the largest single factor contributing to the conviction of innocent people (Wells Olson, 2003). In this essay, the use of eyewitness testimony in the criminal justice system will be explored, with a particular focus on the impreciseness of this practice. Although Although theoretically conferencing may be seen as a viable alternative for adolescents to court proceedings, and indeed some evidence suggests it reduces recidivism, it will ultimately be concluded that the success of restorative justice programs depends on more than just its ability to reduce recidivism, and thus it will not always provide a useful alternative to more traditional criminal justice approaches. The big winner of this transformation was the common man. Specifically, the common white man as universal white manhood suffrage (all white men could vote) became the norm. ii. In the election of 1824, there were four towering candidates: Andrew Jackson of Tennessee, Henry Clay of Kentucky, William H. Crawford of Georgia, and John Q. Adams of Massachusetts. 1. All four called themselves Republicans. 2. Three were a favorite son of their respective region but Clay thought of himself as a national figure (he was Speaker of the House and author of the American System ). iii. In the results, Jackson got the most popular votes and the most electoral votes, but he failed to get the majority in the Electoral College. Adams came in second in both, while Crawford was fourth in the popular vote but third in the electoral votes. Clay was 4th in the electoral vote. iv. By the 12th Amendment, the top three electoral vote getters would be voted upon in the House of Reps. and the majority (over 50%) would be elected president. v. • 35. Public Safety Outweigh Petitioner s First Amendment Right C.The interest of public safety outweighs Petitioner s First Amendment right to record. Petitioner s recording posed an unreasonable risk to bystanders, passing motorist, and the police, essentially creating an inherently dangerous situation. Kelly v. Borough of Carlisle, 622 F.3d 248, 262 (3d Cir. 2010). The Third Circuit has firmly recognized that traffic stops are especially fraught with danger to police officers. Id. A traffic stop always poses danger because of its unpredictable nature, but even more so, when a potential suspect is on the loose. Petitioner was a suspect for a crime of several residential break ins, which a reasonable office would assume is armed and dangerous; thus creating a heightened risk to the officers safety. Furthermore, the Petitioner was stopped on the side of a road congested with traffic. If the officers do not maintain control of the situation, any unpredictable movement could result in grave injury; therefore, the police officers acted reasonably by minimizing the unnecessary danger added by Petitioner s recording during an already dangerous situation. D.Petitioner s recording is not a matter of public interest that carried any expressive or communicative purpose. The encounter Petitioner recorded is not a matter of public interest. Introduction In this report, I will be explaining two surface features which are visually interesting to geologists and tourists in the Taupo Volcanic Zone (TVZ), Lake Taupo, and Mt Ruapehu. Lake Taupo is a main tourist attraction as it is the largest lake in New Zealand with a beautiful scenery perfect for activities like recreational fishing and sky diving. Furthermore, it generates electrical energy via the Waikato river that is used by people all around waikato. Mt Ruapehu is also a tourist attraction as the highest peak on the North Island with two major ski fields and only glaciers on its slopes. Creation Believe it or not, both surface features are active volcanoes. Lake Taupo a caldera, and Mt Ruapehu a stratovolcano. These volcanoes were formed because TVZ is a convergent plate boundary where the Pacific (Oceanic) plate which is more dense ,is getting subducted under the Australian (Continental) crust which is less dense. This is being driven by a force called convection which happens in the asthenosphere which is fluid. It is when the fluid near the core heats up, and rises due to it s low density compared to the surrounding fluid. This fluid then cools down and sinks due to it s high density compared to the surrounding fluid. It therefore gets near to the core again and so, repeats the cycle. The direction of the convection can cause plate boundaries opposite and away from each other will result in divergent plate boundaries and opposite but towards each ... Lessing hints her readers that this short story is set somewhere in the desert by, ... the flesh of his soles contracted on the chilled earth, and his legs began to ache with cold... The purpose of this was to fix some serious issues that were happening in the country. This includes corruption, sexism towards women, racism, discrimination against religion, big businesses and corporations, etc. The people realized that things needed to change fast. For things to move into the right direction, people needed to start making the right moves. Having the president on this side was crucial as well. The leaders needed to know exactly who and what to go for to better the country and prevent it from getting worse for the poor and common people. While not everything was able to get fixed under the progressive movement, it served its purpose and did change a great deal of horrible things going on in the US at the time. There are countless things that the progressive movement had tried to fix. Protecting social welfare was one of its goals. Big issue was the poor communities were not given the same treatment as the middle and upper class communities. For this, Jane Addams took to a poor neighborhood and built a settlement house that provided for the community. Instead of living and working from home, she lived in the house herself to see what these people had to go through in their daily lives. Such reformers believed that only by living among the poor could they help bridge the growing class divide. (Textbook. Pg. 585).
