Motivated During Winter
3 Tips to Stay Motivated During Winter During winter, many struggle to sustain the fitness that
they worked so hard to obtain when the weather was warm. Cold temperatures, rain, and daylight
savings are the common factors ruining cyclists motivation to train. However there are ways to
still sustain a high fitness level, even through bad weather. On cold winter mornings, the
temptation of sleeping through your alarm to stay warm in the comfort of your bed is often too
much. A good way to force yourself to get out of bed on these mornings is to have organised a
ride with a friend. That way you will have to get out of bed unless you want to abandon your mate.
Indoor trainers are very helpful to have when the weather goes bad but using them

Julie Taymor s Titus Andronicus
Julie Taymor s film adaptation of Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus has many theatrical elements that
aid in creating an interpretation of the written play. One of the most prominent elements that
Taymor uses is color. Taymor uses color to develop Shakespeare s characters. Many times
throughout the film, coloris used to represent a character s mood or their hidden agenda during a
scene. We also see color used to represent good versus evil. The three colors that are most widely
used during the movie to show symbolism and imagery are black, white, and red. While there are
some references to color in the written text of Titus Andronicus, Taymor s use of color allows the
viewers to see a more clear representation of mood, tone, and character.... Show more content on

Again, the color black is used to represent inferiority. Had the fly been a color other than black,
like Aaron as Lucius compares it, Titus would have been angry at Lucius for killing the fly.
When the child of Aaron and Tamora is brought in (1:43:00), viewers see another instance in
which black is used as a negative color. Since the child s skin is black, like Aaron s, the child
must be killed. The black skin of the child will contrast with the white skin of its mother and
therefore will bring negative views upon Tamora. Had the child been white, regardless of if it
was Saturninus s or not, Tamora could have passed the child off as being Saturninus s. Since the
child has black skin, she can no longer do that and since black is viewed as an inferior color, the
baby must be killed. One of the most prominent times that the color black is used is during the
scene in which Tamora, Demetrius, and Chiron come to Titus s house (2:11:00). Tamora is in all
black attire and her face is painted black. Not only is she representative of death through her
outfit, she actually is death according to Titus. Her job is to bring death onto people. Throughout
the film, black has been unanimously viewed as a negative color. In this scene, we see black
being used in the most negative way possible: representative of death. Little do the character s
know, the usage of black and death is simply foreshadowing what is to come. White is

Essay on The Impact of Refugees on a Society
The Impact of Refugees on a Society
The argument that refugees have a negative effect on society has been a topic of great debate for
many years, both in the UK and across many other countries. Almost since time began, the human
race has had problems when the situation in their area has changed for the worse, and they have
had to make tough decisions about where they should go next, and the problem has never been a
more prominent issue than in today s society. It is an argument with two clearly defined sides. On
one hand, the refugees, tortured, poverty stricken and living in fear day and night. On the other
hand, the general public, worried about the cost of looking after the asylum seekers, the ... Show

Many of the asylum applications in the last three months have not come from Europe, but from
Africa and Asia. Statistics show that applications from the rest of the EU fell by 14% compared to
the previous three months. Top nationalities for asylum applications were nations where politics
and poverty have forced people to move out, such as Iran, Zimbabwe and Iraq. Every year, tens and
thousands of these refugees pour into Britain, seeking aid and support, but should they leave their
country? Is the situation in their country really bad enough to make them have the right to move
here?
The main opposition to refugees coming to the UK is not the Tories or any Government party, but
the British taxpayer. Almost weekly, a new story hits the headlines detailing more statistics to
make their readers grimace, usually about the cost that each family has to pay to house asylum
seekers, as proved in the article Refugees cost us ВЈ13 each (Michael Lea, The Sun, March 2000),
where phrases such as Shocking , Chaos and staggering are deliberately used to turn the reader
against refugees. Some believe that people such as Lea use all of this emotive language simply to
help sell papers by printing headlines that do not shock the reader, the papers won t sell, so are the

Differences Of The First Language Acquisition
Since, the second language is an additional language after we acquire the first language, the L2
learning process can be influenced by the L1 learning process This essay will demonstrate the
similarities and differences in L1 and L2 acquisition by discussing various theories. Then, draw a
conclusion based on the evidence provided and my own experience. First Language Acquisition

Skinner and his colleagues (Gass Larry, 2008), learning or a change of behaviour on the part of the
learner, is brought about by a process known as operant conditioning which is the result of repeated
training. Operant means voluntary behaviour which is the result of learner s own free will and is
not forced by any outsider or thing (Ortega, 2009). The learner will demonstrate the new behaviour
first as a response to a system of a reward or punishment, and finally it will become an automatic
response. Behaviourists believe that learning a language is no different from learning anything else.
It becomes a habit by the stimulus response reinforcement repetition process (Cook, 2001). The
behaviourists also claim that we learn by imitation and by association (Lightbown Spada, 2006).
However, psycholinguists argue that imitation is not enough because it is not only the mechanical
repetition but also natural exposure that children acquire language (Cook, 2001). Therefore, from
the behaviourist approach, language acquisition can be seen as a stimulus response process.
Children learn language by immitation and analogy. The roles of imitation, repetition,
reinforcement, and motivation are essential in learning the language. The First Language
Acquisition is thus the result of nature which based on practicing. Nativist or Innateness

trusting of man, Elizabeth is brisk to moment out the weaknesses of others. Truly, Elizabeth is
quick to judge. She does not believe Darcy. On the other side, Jane sees the best in companions.
She is intensely caring about individuals. She is one who easily inspect one s weakness.

The Influence Of Political Socialization
Growing up, our views on politics and the government were always one sided because of the
fact, that we didn t understand much about any political situation but just hear what our parents
or family members had to say and agree with it. As we got older we started to develop and
interest for politics and become more active in it as it will later shape our futures. This process,
in which we form ideas about politics is what we call, political socialization. Given a quiz before
hand, we were tested on out political socialization to be shown what our views lean towards. Our
group was tested to see where they thought they stood on a scale labeling us to either be more
liberal or more conservative. Later during the quiz, we were given specific questions that would
place place us on a two dimensional ideology diagram to see where we actually stood from
answering the questions truthfully. Our group will compare and contrast each other s personal
results from taking the quiz and also talk about the publics placement. Knowing that we all live a
different life growing up, we will always have our own experiences and develop new ideas and
views towards our politics and government. With attention to, political socialization is mainly
shaped during our childhood, people continue to shape their political views throughout their lives.
Being that family is the most political influence through our lives we always look to them when we

The Semantic Phenomena Of The Human Language Essay
Introduction
Semantics is the study of meaning that is used to understand people s words and linguistic theories
developed in modeling human language to understand the pragmatic semantic relations that exist
between the words. Sense relations have been the interest of philosophers, psychologists, linguists
and language teacher and each of them provided theories about lexicon relations related to their
own field and some approaches were made in order to study sense relations and they were 1
Pragmatic: the linguistics phenomena are focused on the use of sense relations and their position in
the human mind2 Psycholinguistic: providing a psychological model of the information and
procedures involved in the semantic phenomena of the human language. Sense relations are
considered with the meaning of the words, how they man what they suppose to mean, how they
happen inside the human mind and how they are used in writing and speaking. This can be helpful
for linguists, translators, teacher and lexicographers when they are compiling and revising a
dictionary. Also sense relations are considered an open set items, which means there s no restriction
on the richness of their meaning because they belong to a huge substitution sets and they are
constantly updated on the syntactic and semantic levels. Chaffin and Herrmann (1988) noted that
sense relations have characteristics of concepts and they tend to be abstract ones, which means that
these sense relations don t come out of

Bartleby the Scrivener, Deeply Symbolic Essay examples
Bartleby the Scrivener, a Deeply Symbolic Work
Bartleby the Scrivener, is one of the most complicated stories Melville has ever written, perhaps
by any American writer of that period. It id a deep and symbolic work, its make you think of
every little detail differently. It makes you realize that a little detail actually make a difference
and give a meaning to the story analysis. The walls are controlling symbols of the story; in fact
some had said that it s a parable of walls. Melville tells us explicitly that certain prosaic facts are
indispensable to understand a story (Leo Marx 1970). One of the walls, which is part of sky light
shaft, is white. And it provides the best light available, with the sky invisible. There is no ... Show

Some had interpreted his phrase as a scream for help, as if he is shouting I am a human being, I
can and will make choices concerning my own life. But when his preferences are completely
ignored and he is sent to the city prison, he gives up on life and dies. It appeared to him as if he
had lost the one element of humanity he seemed to possess. Others said that, his refusal of the
lawyer s request has been read as a critique of the materialism of American culture that was
growing at this time. Where it is pretty much significant in the story that the lawyer s office is on
Wall Street and Wall Street was at that time becoming the hub of financial activity in the U.S. His
refusal amounts to a heroic opposition to economic control. That shows how the theme of this
story is extremely subtle, and that gives the story its popularity among readers allover the world.
The last paragraph can t be left without analysis; it s where a new mystery was revealed. It is the
one thing the lawyer had discovered about Bartleby; the rumor that Bartleby once worked in the
Dead Letter office, and was fired in an administrative shake up. Dead letters! Does it not sound
like dead men? В… On errands of life, these letters speed to deathВ… The lawyer wonders
whether it was the lonely depressing job, reading letters meant for people now gone or dead,
which drove Bartleby into his final stillness beneath a prison yard tree

Effects Of Teen Pregnancy On Children s Reproductive System
The United States has the highest rate of unplanned teen pregnancies amongst the most
developed countries in the world. Approximately 750,000 teens will become pregnant this year
and with the lack of resources to terminate those unwanted pregnancies more than ninety two
percent of those teens will become parents before graduating high school. Plan B one step
emergency contraception is now available over the counter as of August 2013 an although there
has been a great debate on whether or not the open availability to teens as young as fifteen will
do more harm than good it does seem that the positives have out weighted the negative since
lowering the age restriction and making it available over the counter. Since talk about raising the
age limit back to seventeen with a prescription and turning it back over to pharmacy counters the
controversy has resurfaced. The subject of harm Plan b may or may not be contributing to women
s reproductive system as well as allowing minors to put themselves at risk without their parents
knowledge have been main topics of decision. Plan B one step has been proven to be safe and
effective and has minimized teen pregnancysince being approved in 2013.
Plan B emergency contraception is an oral pill used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex. If
used properly, which means as soon as possible up 72 hours of unprotected sex pregnancy is not to

American Fur Trade
There are a plethora of news sites, organizations, and establishments, all within the American fur
trade, that enjoy deceiving the general public with claims of a humane and safe fur trade. While
these claims seem to hold credibility, they fall flat once challenged with heavy evidence of cruelty
and peril. The furtrade should be outright banned from the United Statesas it excludes humane
methods of euthanasia, utilizes wretched methods of confinement, and as it acts as an extreme
health hazard. Trappers, farmers, retail stores, and any individual who accommodates this cruelty,
fails to take into consideration the lives of millions of animals, as well as their own health.

Because of the fact that fur sheared from a dead animal will rot, manufacturers fight off decay
through the application of a slew of chemicals that are designed to prevent decomposition. The
main processing chemicals used are formaldehyde and chromium which are both linked to cancers,
such as leukemia. In addition, the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA, in the United States,
has previously fined six fur processing plants for causing high levels of pollution and for using
solvents in fur dressing that may cause respiratory problems... (Hoskins, Tansy. Is the Fur Trade
Sustainable? The Guardian. Guardian News and Media, 29 Oct. 2013. Web. 20 Mar. 2016.). Even
more unacceptable is the fact that fur production is unregulated. This leads to the incorrect labeling
of fur clothing which essentially leaves consumers ignorant about the severe chemicals that are
exposed. This horrid fashion statement not only threatens animals, even those that existed in
tremendous numbers, with extinction, but also threatens consumers with respiratory issues and
cancer. Essentially, both humans and animals encounter ultimate death as it has been found that fur
clothing contains carcinogens, which is any substance that is directly involved in causing cancer.
Altogether, it is more than apparent that the hazardous fur trade causes a greater amount of harm
than good.

The Operational Characteristics And Functionality Of A...
The operational characteristics and functionality of a variable speed pump compared to a
centrifugal pump. Sultan aljulaud Instructor: Joseph P. Ruane ME323: Fluid Mechanics
Laboratory 12 08 2015 Abstract Pumps and its functions are a necessity in industries and homes
nowadays. Buildings and lands with distinct topographical characteristics need pumps to
provide water to users. The basic function of a pump is to transfer liquid from a low pressure
area to a higher one. Without the application of a pump, it is impossible to move a liquid to a
high pressure zone because of the force that prevents the liquid to move. The old clichГ© goes
that water, or liquid, seeks its own level. This can only be countered by means of a pump. There
are different types of pump that facilitate this operation. In this paper, we are concerned with
centrifugal pump and pumps applied with variable speed drive. How it works and which one is
more applicable, whether in homes or industries, is the aim of this essay. A variable speed pump
is operated by a circuit consisting of a rectifier that converts alternating current (AC) to direct
current (DC), and another circuit known as inverter circuit to transform the DC into a different
version of the AC. Then, the AC produced by the inverter controls the speed of an electric motor.
This is the operation of the variable frequency drive (VFD) which is also known as variable speed
drive (VSD). By controlling the speed of the centrifugal pump

The Lost Boys Metaphors
Teenagers as metaphors for Vampires
Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It s fun to be a vampire. (The Lost
Boys, 1987). The tagline to Joel Schumacher s 1987 film, The Lost Boys, glorifies the allure of
being a member of the undead. The transformation into a teenager, or vampire, are both marked by a
turbulent time of sexual development, peer pressure, and is an important phase in the formation of
their identity. In literature, and in film, the vampire can be perceived as the perfect metaphor for a
teenager due to the parallel nature that they both share and the hardships they endure.

Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
Walt Whitman s Song of Myself helps inspire my body and soul, activates my mind, and
encourages individual discovery for the sake of creating a better world for all to live in. It also
acts as a form of instruction for becoming an American in ideal and in action. Through his free
form verse and tone that reflects more of a wizened and rosy cheeked grandfather than
controversial poet, Whitman s writing acts as a refreshing breath to all, including myself, that are
searching for an empathetic peace of mind. I celebrate myself, and sing myself,/ And what I
assume you shall assume,/ For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you./ , Whitman
begins, inviting the reader to a conversation by the fireside, as we are equal in spirit, matter, and
creation, which should obviously be celebrated and shared.
Whitman provides a view of the world around him in which every action, person, object, and
event is held as a miracle. He harkens back to Emersonian ideals of the divine being a part of all,
reflecting, I hear and behold God in every object, yet understand God not in the least, and further
on, I see something of God each hour of the twenty four, and each moment then . This challenges
me to open my mind to a worldview not limited to my own origin or upbringing, but to view the
world with a universal love and positive connection. This includes looking onto traditionally
repulsive concepts, including body odor, the butcher shedding his clothes, and a prostitute stricken
with pox, as signs of the divine. Pages are dedicated to describing the sights he assigns as portions
of the song of myself . He, and by extension, me, have a personal connection to the boy that lies
awake in the cedar roof d garret and harks to the musical rain , and have just as close a bond to
the aforementioned prostitute as her bonnet bobs on her tipsy and pimpled neck . John Paul Jones
is as much a part of us as the numberless unknown heroes that have perished without memory. All
are equal parts of himself and myself, as every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.
Whitman wrote in a manner to educate every person, and more specifically, every American, on
how to embrace each moment and forge a path to understand their

Night in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream...
Night in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream One of the recurring themes
throughout Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream is the time of day during which the play s
major action takes place: night. This being the case, there are certain words that are directly linked
to this theme that appear numerous times throughout the script. Four such words are moon,
moonlight, moonshine, and lunatic. Each comes from a feminine root that serves to identify the
women in the play as prizes to be won and controlled. It becomes clear when looking up the term

Theseus looks to the moon to measure how soon he will wed his fiancГ©, Hippolyta. Hippolyta
responds in kind, commenting, And then the moon, like to a silver bow / New bent in heaven,

as a measurement (for when it becomes a silver bow, or crescent, they wed), but she also speaks
of the night when the moon wanes as a time of festive marriage ceremonies. It is important to
take into account the character of Hippolyta in this instance. Having Theseus wed Hippolyta,
Queen of the Amazons, takes away Hippolyta s power as a strong female. She, too, is counting
the nights by the waning of the moon until she is legitimately wed and under the control of a
husband. The lesser characters, below royalty in the social order, take part in illicit happenings
veiled by night, as the moon oversees the activities of May Day/Midsummer s Eve. The moon is
considered a passive overseer or witness to (the actions of humankind) (Brown 1645). In the
forest of Oberon and Titania, the moon is truly an observer. Within a monologue by Titania, the
fairy queen announces, Therefore the moon, the governess of floods, / Pale in her anger, washes
all the air, / That rheumatic diseases do abound (2.1.102, 29). Titania speaks of her quarrel with
Oberon in this instance and how it affects all of nature. Their effect on the natural world is so

According to The Economist, on 28th June, 2014, Netherlands has been fighting against
inequality for the past few years owing to the differential taxation system. Researchers say that
the wealth distribution of Netherlands is one of the most unequal in Europe. Quoting the OECD
report on Inequality within countries, of 21st May, 2015, Inequality is high in the Netherlands:
the top 10% owns 60% of all net wealth, while the bottom three quintiles own almost no wealth.
Belgium has not seen a drop in inequality levels in the past 25 years. According to the EU

Analysis Of Night Flying Woman By Ignatia Broker

book that I decided to read was Night Flying Woman by Ignatia Broker. The tribal identity in the
book was Oibwe from the White Earth Band. Ms. Broker started out the book from the present day
in Minneapolis where she grew up. There wasn t much culture to be seen, and the younger
generations were getting too lost in the new world. Ms. Broker made sure to mention that she still
taught her children the Ojibwe ways, and told them the stories that her grandmother had once told
her. Throughout Ignatia Broker s introductory chapter, we got a sense of the amount of respect she

When the European settlers came over and started taking over the land, it served as a turning
point of the Ojibwe culture and the way that they practiced their ways. When the Europeans
came over, Oona and her relatives were forced to pack up and move their things twice. The land
that belonged to them their whole lives were being taken over by settlers that thought they
found the land. After they had moved, they were forced to start living the way that the new
settlers were. While the children were learning the new ways, the adults were as well. Oona s
father had gone to a lumber camp to work. He went to try and earn enough money to build the
kinds of houses that the new settlers had already built for themselves. The Native woman began
to learn the household needs, and the English language as well. They made clothes similar to the
new settlers, and even friended many of them. The way of life that they were once used to was
becoming just a speck in their memories. As the generation passes, Oona always remembered to
tell the children of how life used to be, and the traditions that were practiced. She recognized that
the children would bring the culture with them in the generations to come, but it would never be as
traditional as it once was. Oona s family coped with the changes by having meetings with the

Analysis Of Ben Franklin And The Middle Of The Storm
Electronics and electricity have come a long way since they were first being discovered. That is
not to say that what was originally thought is now wrong or obsolete, but rather has been added
to or has been more refined. When most people think of electricity what comes to mind is Ben
Franklin with his kite and a key in the middle of the storm. However, that is only one completely
minor detail which led to the discovery and the ability to harness and use what was already
happening in nature. Only on a scale that could be used by an everyday person. Although it is
something we all use every day, most people do not really know who or what has been done in the
field of electronics and electricity. Most just take for granted the fact... Show more content on

A galvanic cell is an electrochemical cell that derives electrical energy from spontaneous redox
reactions taking place within the cell. Although it is not certain whether the artifact was
electrical in nature or used for some other use that was needed within the culture (Britannica,
2014). The history of electricity had little if any advancement for many years since the time of
Thales. In fact it was nothing more than thought and curiosity until the 1600 s. It was at this
point English scientist William Gilbert made a careful study of electricity and magnetism,
distinguishing the lodestone effect from static electricity produced by rubbing amber. He later
coined the new Latin word electricus meaning ( of Amber or like Amber ) (Stewart 2001). We
skip ahead another century to the times of such great minds as Otto von Guericke, Robert
Boyle, Stephen Gray, C. F. du Fay, and Benjamin Franklin. Franklin conducted extensive studies
and performed hundreds of experiments. He even went as far as to sell off many of his own
possessions in order to fund his work. Meanwhile it was in of June 1752 that he has been reputed
to have attached a metal key to the bottom of a dampened kite string and had flown the kite in a

The Pros And Cons Of Religion And Atheism
Recently, I was able to go on a religious retreat. The topic of religion and atheism came into
existence and I thought that this was a topic I would like to go into more depth about so I took
part of the argument. This question was asked: Is atheism a religion? We argued if these two
subjects are related. Some said no and some said yes. Though I am not an Atheist my response to
this question is, yes I do believe that atheismis a religionbecause it has the incorporation of gods
and afterlife in the belief. Let us begin with the Miriam Webster Dictionary defining these two
nouns for us exactly. Atheism (noun): a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a
god or any gods ( Atheism. ). Religion (noun): the service and worship of God or the
supernatural commitment/devotion to religious faith/observance ( Religion. ). Comparing these
two words, they seem like they are complete opposites. The fact that religion means to believe in
a higher power, and atheism means the disbelief in a higher power, makes it seem impossible for
atheism to be a religion itself. However, when a person asks someone the question Are you a
Christian? , their response may be Yes, I am a Christian . On the other hand if one ask a person
Are you Christian? they can also respond with No, I am an Atheist . The two responses have the
same structures yet different meanings. Jimmy Akin (who is a catholic author and editor) said, A
belief is a religion if it asserts the existence of the

The Invention Of Phase Contrast Microscopy By The Nobel...
Abstract
In the last century with the invention of phase contrast microscopy by the Nobel Prize winner Frits
Zernike, nucleoli were among the most con spicuous structures. The nucleolus was first de scribed
between 1835 and 1839, but it had to go through another century before it was discovered to be
related with a specific chromosomal locus, which marked it as a cytogenetic entity.1
At the end of the 18th century, Montgomery was the first to publish the monumental monograph,
which included color figures of nuclei and nucleo li.1
Based on the Montgomery work, further studies where conducted to analyze the function of the
nucleolus in the next century. In fact himself has studied nucleoli in the oocytes of over 175 differ
ent species and had approached at three re markable conclusions that still hold true today: 1) In one
cell there can be more than one nucleolus;
2) Cells with higher growth are presented with more and larger size;
3) The last conclusion was, the size of the cells interfere with the size of nucleolus.2
After the 1960 numerous discovers made a huge impact in the modern science, one of these is the
study on the rRNA which lead to the conclusion that the nucleolus is the site of ribosomal RNA
synthesis and nascent ribosome assembly.1
In the early 70s it was observed that the ribonu cleoprotein precursors to ribosomes contain two
classes of protein. The difference between these proteins was thought to be that one class could be
recognized as ribosomal proteins,

perspectives on it. This critical response will examine how liberals and conservatives have

completely unacceptable and altogether distasteful. Conservatives would interpret this as
something utterly horrible because the men are going out and being unfaithful to their wives and
being a disgrace to the community. They would find it shameful that the eyes, spies around
Gilead making sure everyone is following the rules, are not doing anything about this and are just
letting the men get away with this distasteful act. Conservatives would point out the fact that
Jezebels should not have been allowed in the first place. Anyone who rebels should either be
executed or exiled. Liberals would also find this distasteful, mostly for the fact that men are being
allowed to act out but women are not. Not to forget the fact that the Jezebels are looked down on

Relevance Of Shakespeare
As a teaching aid, Shakespeare s innovative use of vocabulary helps show children how to use
the language they are born with better than a bland textbook, even when used without this aim in
mind. William Shakespeare is an English poet, playwright, and is often referred to as a national
poet. He is considered to be one of the greatest writer and dramatist in the English language/ world
wide. Shakespeare s innovative writing is what makes up his plays and poems such as Hamlet,
Othello, Richard III, etc. Shakespeare should continue to be taught in the ninth grade curriculum
because his work goes on a deep understanding with people s lives today, his work has influenced
individuals, movie industries, countries, etc., and his work is focused mainly on teenagers lives.
First and foremost, Shakespeare s works should be included in the 9th grade curriculum because
her works are still relevant today because his plays and characters portray issues. . . and are like

The Fashion Design Of Chanel
It has been over a century since Mademoiselle Chanel, determined to reform the concept of
femininity as much in style as in the essence, commissioned the chemist Ernest Beaux to develop
what will become the symbol of international perfumery. Chanel No. 5 is unquestionably the most
legendary ever made fragrance, described as an opera of olfactory art. Independent, unconventional,
and provocative, CocoChaneltransformed her unfamiliar name into an obligatory reference point
for fashion design of the twentieth. As an icon of female strength, she translates the complexity and
elegance that characterize the woman, with the creation of what would become the scent par
excellence. Her way of conceiving the perfumeis peculiar. When asked where to put the perfume
she replies: A woman should wear a fragrance wherever she expects to be kissed ( A Woman ). Coco
also launches what turned out, according to the instructions of the designer, had to embody a
concept of femininity timeless, unique, and fascinating. The avant garde idea of Chanel breaks
every scheme imagining her fragrance for a modern and independent woman, far from the
stereotype that envisages she should perfume of roses. Hence, Chanel No. 5 is the first perfume that
rejects the convention and symbolizes the technological and cultural innovation, furthering the
women s empowerment.
Chanel No. 5 is a concentration of absolute femininity that shook the world of fragrances forever

Essay on Donner Company
Central Issues
When looking at the Donner Company in 1987, there are some initial concerns. The company as
a whole does not have a true sense of how long it takes them to do what they do, and their
process flow table is made up of guesstimates , as throughput time at individual processes have not
been formally taken. The company appears to be operating below capacity based on their need to
rework their products often, find things for people to do, and meet deadlines that are based on
fuzzy estimates, which only adds to the chaos. In short, there are three main issues facing the
Donner Co.:

Quality Control В– Errors Missed Processes
The highest of standards demanded should be set, and an additional inspection area should be
added behind the most sensitive portion of the process, the Dry Film Photoresist(DFPR). This
would allow items to be caught before the entire process has been completed. Additionally,
upgrades in the air filtration systems of the company, and the amount of time spent cleaning the
machines would likely aid in the reduction of production errors, such as the reported nicks and
scratches found on reworked and returned items. Processes that run the potential of contaminating
each other could also be further separated through the addition of barriers. For example, the tin
striping process, which utilizes special corrosive chemicals, has the potential to contaminate the
boards and should be performed in a separate room (see Exhibit XX) so that the air within that
area is kept localized and filtered, and the corrosive materials in the air are removed.
Labor Utilization Improvements
The labor utilization rate is currently at 15.78%Q7 and could be improved dramatically by
reassigning people to the various tasks mentioned in the examples above. Additionally, the lower
cycle times would improve utilization, but a closer look at the overall process might indicate that
not as many people are needed to work at any particular time. We question the need for 22
employees and feel that with a better understanding

Why The United States Won The War Of 1812 Dbq
On July 18, 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain which started the War of
1812. The war began because of a military conflict between the United States and Great Britain.
The war lasted from 1812 to 1814. The War started when the colony of Great Britain and Canada,
got invaded by the Americans. The war was fought in many different places such as, Upper
Canada, Lower Canada, on the Great Lakes, the Atlantic, and in the U.S. The war was a big
dispute between the U.S. and the British Empire. The British limited the American trade system
because they were afraid it would be damaging to their war with France. They also wanted to have

Since the issues of rights were not determined in the peace treaty, the war was considered a
failure. However, the Americans had some impressive victories at sea, which gave them the
potential of becoming an American power (i.e., footnote 1). The war was definitely a failure for
the War Hawks, who desired to invade Canada. The war proved that this was not doable for their
military to do. In conclusion, the war was a war of honor and respect and not to be judged (i.e.,
footnote 1).
The War of 1812 had a big effect on America and how the world viewed the developing nation.
America was now viewed as a nation that was strong and capable to endure two wars with the
British (i.e., footnote 2). America as a nation had also changed. There was an extended faith in
America and their abilities. Without a doubt, the War of 1812 played a huge role in the

Everything that you can taste, touch, see or smell is composed of chemicals. All the chemicals
around you are made from various combinations of the elements on the periodic table. These
elements can range considerably in size; specifically, atoms at the top of the periodic table are

Animals all around the world are abused everyday, with 100 million animals being poisoned,

with for several years. Sarah is my favorite cousin because she is such a good person, it is just she
feels like she cannot stop smokingcigarettes. In spite of all her qualities, she cannot quit smoking.
Sarah says she is under a lot of stress right now and smoking relaxes her. She also explained she
doesn t know where to start and all the methods she has already tried have not worked for her.
Finally, Sarah does not feel like she has the strength to quit smoking. I love my cousin dearly
and want to help her quit, so I have some advice for her. Sarah says she is under a lot of stress
right now and smoking relaxes her. I understand that she is stressed with completing her final
classes, but there are other ways. Cigarettes only relax her because she s giving her body a
substance that it has become dependent on. First, I would suggest to Sarah that instead of
smoking to rid her of stress she should try to exercise instead. Exercising is a great stress reliever
and it doesn t have to be more than a minute long. I would also suggest that she begins to drink
green tea or any other tea that relieves stress. Drinking tea is a much healthier way to rid stress and
it is way more convenient than

KITTISUKSATHIT, Ph. D.; CHARAMPORN HOLUMYONG, Ph. D. ABSTRACT The number
of Indonesian adolescents practicing sex before marriage is relatively low compared to the rate in
other countries (less than 6.5%). However, this issue should be given attention because the rate
increased from 5% to 6.4% between 2002 and 2007. Therefore, the main aim of this study is to
analyze factors influencing premarital sexual intercourse among in school late adolescents in
Indonesia. This study uses secondary data from the research of the Indonesian Young Adult
Reproductive Health Survey (IYARHS) 2007. The study population of 6,792 in school late
adolescents aged 15 19 years was selected from a total of 19,311 unmarried Indonesian young
adults that were interviewed. The findings illustrate that 2.4% of the in school late adolescents have
engaged in premarital sexual intercourse. Evidence indicated that sex, age, place of residence,
knowledge of sexual reproductive health (SRH), knowledge of contraceptive methods, source of

Who Is The Narrator In Cathedral
Cathedral I wasn t enthusiastic about his visit. He was no one I knew. And his being blind
bothered me (99) the narrator tells us in Raymond Carver s Cathedral. An old friend of the
narrator s wife, Robert, is coming to visit them at their home. The narrator is not at all pleased
with this situation and lets us know it from the beginning. Throughout the story, the narrator
begins to see the blind man in a different light and his mind set begins to change to admiration.
The narrator seems to be somewhat jealous at first of the relationship between his wife and their
visitor. He says, She told him everything, or it seemed to me (100). His wife had worked for the
blind man for one summer ten years ago, yet she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
these past ten years (103). Robert had done a little of everything, it seemed, a regular blind jack
of all trades (103). In this quote, the narrator is both envious, because of all the talk about
Robert, and admiring of all the things that Robert has accomplished although blind. As the night
progresses, the wife begins to get sleepy and goes upstairs to change. The narrator tells us, I
wished she s come back downstairs. I didn t want to be left alone with a blind man (104). At this
point, the narrator does not know how to react to this man let alone what to say to him. His wife
is no longer there to act as the link between the two. The narrator keeps the conversation going by
offering more drinks and rolling two fat numbers (104). His wife falls asleep on the couch and
the blind man stays up with the narrator because he feels as though they had not had a chance all
night to talk. The narrator says he is glad for the company (105). He really means this when he
says it too. They continue to watch TV for a while and the narrator, sensing the quiet, tries to tell
Robert what it is that he is seeing on the television at the moment. The narrator tries to explain to
Robert what a cathedral looks like but cannot think of better descriptions than big and massive .
Robert suggests to the narrator that they could draw one together (108). At first the narrator draws
a simple box with a roof. Then he begins to

Warpaint Influence
Warpaint, the indie rock band hailing from Los Angeles, California have been known for their
moody, reflective lyrics and their intricate, ethereal, mantra like guitar riffs. Their first full length
release, 2010 s The Fool, and their latest album, Heads Up, differ in terms of the overall feel and
influence. However, their signature contemplative lyrics and one of a kind musical style in addition
to their main influences are present in both releases.
Warpaint s The Fool contains their signature tense, dreamy style of music. Songs like Set Your
Arms Down and Majesty are prime examples of this, with yearning lyrics and an overall calm,
sleepy sound that leaves you with an almost ghostly feeling. However, on Heads Up, though there
are songs that are reminiscent of that feeling (Today Dear, Dre), the overall atmosphere of the
majority of the record is quite different. Present in this album is a more pop y, get out of your seat
and dance type of sense; the songs New Song, So ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the influences that contribute to the undertones of each album may vary, they still draw
mainly from their primary influences. In addition, across all of their albums, they sustain their
reputation for the moody, almost brooding element of their music. Regardless of which album
someone should choose to listen to, that distinct Warpaint ambiance is there on both of them.
Though their influences and undertones of their music may differ from album to album, Warpaint
stays true to their roots. They keep their ethereal and temperamental atmosphere present in all of
their records, but add an extra flare to each one. Throughout both The Fool and Heads Up, Warpaint
holds onto their signature sound that one could only describe as Warpaint. Though their sound has
evolved and they continue to experiment with different styles, the output is always uniquely

Benefits Of Raising The Driving Age
Being able to drive your first car is an amazing, once in a lifetime experience that most under the
age of 16 excitingly wait for. If you weren t aware, you are able to legally start driving, but what
if that was taken away? There is an idea that in order for you to drive, you have to be at least
twenty one. This will bring on a slough of consequences. Some consequences may be fantastic like
decreased accidents. Some consequences may seem minor like invalidating younger drivers, but
they will turn into a worse situation. Intriguing isn t it? This idea should not even be considered.
Therefore, they should not raise the drivingage and should keep it the way it is. This is necessary
because young adults deserve the right to drive. In addition,... Show more content on

In an article titled, Pro/Con! Should 16 Be the Driving Age, which is written by Laura Sky
Brown (who happens to be a mother of teenagers) in 2014. The article states, I am in favor of
graduated driver s license programs, which have been rolled out all over the United States...This
allows students to get driving privileges gradually over a period of time, not all at once... The
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety feels strongly that the older teenagers are when they
start driving, the fewer accidents they will get in. If you want your eyes opened, spend some
time on the IIHS s risk calculator for teen drivers. You can dial in your state and see how many
fewer accidents there d be with more supervised driving hours, a longer time between permit and
license, and other scenarios. Further in the passage, it states, So, yes, graduated driver s license
laws, which require teens to spend a long time practicing with an adult co driver and to take a
second segment of driver education before the test, are a good way to drag out the process so
kids have as much practice time as possible before they re allowed to go solo. But when should
they start the process? Young, when parents and teachers can still have an influence. These pieces
of evidence prove that measures have already been taken that brought down the accidents, will
continue to bring down accidents and will soon bring down accidents. To

Edward Thatch s Revenge In Treasure Island
It was a clear August afternoon and Edward Thatch stood aboard his ship, the Queen Anne s
Revenge, holding a spyglass to his eye. He was looking at a small white speck on the horizon
that he assumed to be a brig, either Spanish or British. She s a Spanish Brig, sir! the lookout
yelled from the crow s nest, corroborating Edward s assumption. He was quite avid when it came
to taking prizes, and he was the most feared, despicable pirate in the West Indies. During battle,
Edward became Blackbeard, as he is better known, putting slow burning fuses in his hair and long
black beard and lighting them on fire to simulate him being the devil or a demon. All of his
enemies were terrified of him, and the very sight of him evoked terror, causing his enemies to run
away. Blackbeard was, even without the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two ships both fired several more volleys, but the Spanish ship was quickly incapacitated.
The Queen Anne s Revenge pulled alongside it, and the crew members fired muskets and threw
grappling hooks. Heave! Heave! one of the crew members exclaimed. The brig was slowly
pulled closer, and the Spaniards returned fire and prepared to defend the ship. Once the two
ships were close enough, Blackbeard s crew members jumped aboard. Blackbeard lit the fuses in
his beard and jumped aboard as well. The enemies cowered in fear at the very sight of him. Soon
enough, the enemy surrendered, crushed by the sheer power of Blackbeard s crew. The deck of
the brig was a gruesome sight. Several bodies lay on the deck, some of them still conscious, in
agony. One Spanish Soldier missing one leg was screaming in pain. Some of Blackbeard s crew
grimaced at the sight, but Blackbeard smiled. Blackbeard s crew suffered no injuries aside from a
few minor abrasions and cuts. They took the brig s supplies, locked the surviving crew in the hold,
and continued on their business as if nothing happened. Just an average day for a not so average

What Are The Major Changes Of The Sui Tang And Song Dynasty
Major changes in political structure, social and economic life define the Sui, Tang, and Song
dynasties. Each period laid the foundation for the next, with changes and improvements to create a
new order. China is one of the world s richest historical countries boasting of ancient civilization.
China has a mysterious and long history, about 5,000 years. China traces her culture to a blend of
small tribes like any other great civilizations of the world. These small original tribes expanded to
what is China today. The history of China records that Xia Dynasty is the oldest dynasty with
Yuanmou man being the oldest hominoid in China. The country also documents a number of
eminent people who contributed to the nation s enrichment and development experienced today.
However, this essay seeks to discuss the major changes in political structures, social and economic
life that occurred during the Sui dynasty, the Tang dynastyand the Song dynastyin China. The Sui
dynasty reigned from 581 618 A.D. The emperor built monasteries for both Buddhism and
Daoism throughout the land, and appointed Buddhist monks as his key advisors. The Han
system of examination based on the Confucian classics were revived. Taxation was reformed,
and a census was introduced to create equitable tax collection. Also, a land grant was given to
every taxable male. Once a male turned 60 years old, part of the land was returned to the
government, the rest could be passed on to his heirs. This was also a

The Results Of Gothic Architecture
The results of Gothic architecture in York
In the 12th century architecture saw the progression from Romanesque architecture to the Gothic
era, which saw the forthcoming of the prodigious cathedrals that were to become the architectural
symbol of the middle ages. This was during a time of high aspirations. As well structural
developments Gothic architecture is also associated with a change in thinking and social attitudes
that are represented in numerous ways, essentially appealing to emotions.
After the fall of the Roman Empire the political culture shifted from the feudal system to
monarchy, bringing forth a cultural identity. Poetry and art became more personal and intimate,
giving people individuality. It reflected the social sustainability of the modern age and the
growing confidence of the Christian Church of Rome, which successfully lead crusades to
reclaim the Holy land from the Islamic occupants. The representation of Christ changed from a
godlike hero in the battle between good and evil to a tortured human figure that sacrificed him
self on the cross for the sins of mankind. To respond, architects believed that light was the closest
substance to God s true presence and focused on making a network of ribs and vaults reaching
towards heaven. Pointed arches looked towards the sky as the city had no need of the sun, neither
of the moon, to shine on it: for the glory of God did lighten it . (The Bible. Revelation 21:23) The
results were specific elements, such

What Is A Refugee Boy Essay
A)
There are many ways to describe and explain what a refugee is. A refugee is a person who has
been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. A
refugee has a fear of being persecuted for various reasons, such as; race, religion, political issues.
Majority of refugees prefer to return back home as soon as it is safe and when the problem is
being resolved. An asylum seeker is someone who flees their own country and seek for sanctuary
in another country, usually in neighbouring countries. Refugees travels by land and sea. It is really
risky to be a refugee, especially if it is by sea, since they travel using a small boat. Overcrowding is

The Changing Lives Documentary Analysis
No treatment plan is the same for every person and every recovery is different as well for
everyone. The changing lives is a transformational documentary about the lives of a few people on
how they got out of addiction. It shows the process through their very compelling group therapy.
But most importantly, what really caught me was the program for the women, that helped them
with treatment when they were at the verge of losing their children.
Body
The group therapy was very compelling to me. I really saw that they were helping one another to
get to the root of each other s problems, digging deep and peeling at the source. Some were very
uncomfortable at first but once they saw that they had a lot of similarities with others, they slowly
started opening up. The therapist was also going deep, but it was for a cause. It was to help them
heal and move on with their lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

program helps these women through treatment and helps their children too by keeping them in a

an inspiration for the many ladies that have walked in it, changing so many lives around. The part
of their change that struck me the most was the day they graduate. This day signifies a milestone
in their lives of how far they ve come in their journey and how successful they been in it. It s the
sign that shows that they have finally made to the finish line and are to keep it

  • 3. Julie Taymor s Titus Andronicus Julie Taymor s film adaptation of Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus has many theatrical elements that aid in creating an interpretation of the written play. One of the most prominent elements that Taymor uses is color. Taymor uses color to develop Shakespeare s characters. Many times throughout the film, coloris used to represent a character s mood or their hidden agenda during a scene. We also see color used to represent good versus evil. The three colors that are most widely used during the movie to show symbolism and imagery are black, white, and red. While there are some references to color in the written text of Titus Andronicus, Taymor s use of color allows the viewers to see a more clear representation of mood, tone, and character.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, the color black is used to represent inferiority. Had the fly been a color other than black, like Aaron as Lucius compares it, Titus would have been angry at Lucius for killing the fly. When the child of Aaron and Tamora is brought in (1:43:00), viewers see another instance in which black is used as a negative color. Since the child s skin is black, like Aaron s, the child must be killed. The black skin of the child will contrast with the white skin of its mother and therefore will bring negative views upon Tamora. Had the child been white, regardless of if it was Saturninus s or not, Tamora could have passed the child off as being Saturninus s. Since the child has black skin, she can no longer do that and since black is viewed as an inferior color, the baby must be killed. One of the most prominent times that the color black is used is during the scene in which Tamora, Demetrius, and Chiron come to Titus s house (2:11:00). Tamora is in all black attire and her face is painted black. Not only is she representative of death through her outfit, she actually is death according to Titus. Her job is to bring death onto people. Throughout the film, black has been unanimously viewed as a negative color. In this scene, we see black being used in the most negative way possible: representative of death. Little do the character s know, the usage of black and death is simply foreshadowing what is to come. White is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on The Impact of Refugees on a Society The Impact of Refugees on a Society The argument that refugees have a negative effect on society has been a topic of great debate for many years, both in the UK and across many other countries. Almost since time began, the human race has had problems when the situation in their area has changed for the worse, and they have had to make tough decisions about where they should go next, and the problem has never been a more prominent issue than in today s society. It is an argument with two clearly defined sides. On one hand, the refugees, tortured, poverty stricken and living in fear day and night. On the other hand, the general public, worried about the cost of looking after the asylum seekers, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the asylum applications in the last three months have not come from Europe, but from Africa and Asia. Statistics show that applications from the rest of the EU fell by 14% compared to the previous three months. Top nationalities for asylum applications were nations where politics and poverty have forced people to move out, such as Iran, Zimbabwe and Iraq. Every year, tens and thousands of these refugees pour into Britain, seeking aid and support, but should they leave their country? Is the situation in their country really bad enough to make them have the right to move here? The main opposition to refugees coming to the UK is not the Tories or any Government party, but the British taxpayer. Almost weekly, a new story hits the headlines detailing more statistics to make their readers grimace, usually about the cost that each family has to pay to house asylum seekers, as proved in the article Refugees cost us ВЈ13 each (Michael Lea, The Sun, March 2000), where phrases such as Shocking , Chaos and staggering are deliberately used to turn the reader against refugees. Some believe that people such as Lea use all of this emotive language simply to help sell papers by printing headlines that do not shock the reader, the papers won t sell, so are the views printed in the ... Then, draw a conclusion based on the evidence provided and my own experience. First Language Acquisition First Language Acquisition or also known as the Child Language Acquisition is a process whereby children from infancy through early school years acquire their first languages (Lightbown Spada, 2006). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Skinner and his colleagues (Gass Larry, 2008), learning or a change of behaviour on the part of the learner, is brought about by a process known as operant conditioning which is the result of repeated training. Operant means voluntary behaviour which is the result of learner s own free will and is not forced by any outsider or thing (Ortega, 2009). The learner will demonstrate the new behaviour first as a response to a system of a reward or punishment, and finally it will become an automatic response. Behaviourists believe that learning a language is no different from learning anything else. It becomes a habit by the stimulus response reinforcement repetition process (Cook, 2001). The behaviourists also claim that we learn by imitation and by association (Lightbown Spada, 2006). However, psycholinguists argue that imitation is not enough because it is not only the mechanical repetition but also natural exposure that children acquire language (Cook, 2001). Therefore, from the behaviourist approach, language acquisition can be seen as a stimulus response process. Children learn language by immitation and analogy. The roles of imitation, repetition, reinforcement, and motivation are essential in learning the language. The First Language Acquisition is thus the result of nature which based on practicing. Bartleby the Scrivener, Deeply Symbolic Essay examples Bartleby the Scrivener, a Deeply Symbolic Work Bartleby the Scrivener, is one of the most complicated stories Melville has ever written, perhaps by any American writer of that period. It id a deep and symbolic work, its make you think of every little detail differently. It makes you realize that a little detail actually make a difference and give a meaning to the story analysis. The walls are controlling symbols of the story; in fact some had said that it s a parable of walls. Melville tells us explicitly that certain prosaic facts are indispensable to understand a story (Leo Marx 1970). One of the walls, which is part of sky light shaft, is white. • 15. The Operational Characteristics And Functionality Of A... The operational characteristics and functionality of a variable speed pump compared to a centrifugal pump. Sultan aljulaud Instructor: Joseph P. Ruane ME323: Fluid Mechanics Laboratory 12 08 2015 Abstract Pumps and its functions are a necessity in industries and homes nowadays. Buildings and lands with distinct topographical characteristics need pumps to provide water to users. The basic function of a pump is to transfer liquid from a low pressure area to a higher one. Without the application of a pump, it is impossible to move a liquid to a high pressure zone because of the force that prevents the liquid to move. The old clichГ© goes that water, or liquid, seeks its own level. This can only be countered by means of a pump. There are different types of pump that facilitate this operation. In this paper, we are concerned with centrifugal pump and pumps applied with variable speed drive. How it works and which one is more applicable, whether in homes or industries, is the aim of this essay. A variable speed pump is operated by a circuit consisting of a rectifier that converts alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC), and another circuit known as inverter circuit to transform the DC into a different version of the AC. Then, the AC produced by the inverter controls the speed of an electric motor. This is the operation of the variable frequency drive (VFD) which is also known as variable speed drive (VSD). By controlling the speed of the centrifugal pump ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Miranda Smith has a spousal relationship with Timothy, who is a Canadian Citizen. Moreover, Esther is Timothy s daughter. Furthermore, the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations also explains the circumstances that need to be in place in order for a foreign national to fall under the familyclass. Miranda would fall under section 171(1)(a), which states, A foreign national is a member of the family class if, with respect to a sponsor, the foreign national is the sponsor s spouse, common law partner or conjugal partner. The Immigration and Refugee Protections Regulations also state that, A foreign national is a member of the family class if, with respect to a sponsor, the foreign national is a dependent child of the sponsor (s. 171(1)(d)). Esther is Timothy s daughter and she is also 15 years old and therefore would be a dependent. • 20. Analysis Of Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself Walt Whitman s Song of Myself helps inspire my body and soul, activates my mind, and encourages individual discovery for the sake of creating a better world for all to live in. It also acts as a form of instruction for becoming an American in ideal and in action. Through his free form verse and tone that reflects more of a wizened and rosy cheeked grandfather than controversial poet, Whitman s writing acts as a refreshing breath to all, including myself, that are searching for an empathetic peace of mind. I celebrate myself, and sing myself,/ And what I assume you shall assume,/ For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you./ , Whitman begins, inviting the reader to a conversation by the fireside, as we are equal in spirit, matter, and creation, which should obviously be celebrated and shared. Whitman provides a view of the world around him in which every action, person, object, and event is held as a miracle. He harkens back to Emersonian ideals of the divine being a part of all, reflecting, I hear and behold God in every object, yet understand God not in the least, and further on, I see something of God each hour of the twenty four, and each moment then . This challenges me to open my mind to a worldview not limited to my own origin or upbringing, but to view the world with a universal love and positive connection. This includes looking onto traditionally repulsive concepts, including body odor, the butcher shedding his clothes, and a prostitute stricken with pox, as signs of the divine. Pages are dedicated to describing the sights he assigns as portions of the song of myself . He, and by extension, me, have a personal connection to the boy that lies awake in the cedar roof d garret and harks to the musical rain , and have just as close a bond to the aforementioned prostitute as her bonnet bobs on her tipsy and pimpled neck . John Paul Jones is as much a part of us as the numberless unknown heroes that have perished without memory. All are equal parts of himself and myself, as every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. Whitman wrote in a manner to educate every person, and more specifically, every American, on how to embrace each moment and forge a path to understand their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Night in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream... Night in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream One of the recurring themes throughout Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream is the time of day during which the play s major action takes place: night. This being the case, there are certain words that are directly linked to this theme that appear numerous times throughout the script. Four such words are moon, moonlight, moonshine, and lunatic. Each comes from a feminine root that serves to identify the women in the play as prizes to be won and controlled. It becomes clear when looking up the term moon in the Oxford English Dictionary that the word is associated with the feminine. Theseus looks to the moon to measure how soon he will wed his fiancГ©, Hippolyta. Hippolyta responds in kind, commenting, And then the moon, like to a silver bow / New bent in heaven, shall behold the night / Of our solemnities (1.1.7, 14). Not only does the bride speak of the moon as a measurement (for when it becomes a silver bow, or crescent, they wed), but she also speaks of the night when the moon wanes as a time of festive marriage ceremonies. It is important to take into account the character of Hippolyta in this instance. Having Theseus wed Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, takes away Hippolyta s power as a strong female. She, too, is counting the nights by the waning of the moon until she is legitimately wed and under the control of a husband. The lesser characters, below royalty in the social order, take part in illicit happenings veiled by night, as the moon oversees the activities of May Day/Midsummer s Eve. The moon is considered a passive overseer or witness to (the actions of humankind) (Brown 1645). In the forest of Oberon and Titania, the moon is truly an observer. Within a monologue by Titania, the fairy queen announces, Therefore the moon, the governess of floods, / Pale in her anger, washes all the air, / That rheumatic diseases do abound (2.1.102, 29). The topic of religion and atheism came into existence and I thought that this was a topic I would like to go into more depth about so I took part of the argument. This question was asked: Is atheism a religion? We argued if these two subjects are related. Some said no and some said yes. Though I am not an Atheist my response to this question is, yes I do believe that atheismis a religionbecause it has the incorporation of gods and afterlife in the belief. Let us begin with the Miriam Webster Dictionary defining these two nouns for us exactly. Atheism (noun): a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods ( Atheism. ). Religion (noun): the service and worship of God or the supernatural commitment/devotion to religious faith/observance ( Religion. ). Comparing these two words, they seem like they are complete opposites. The fact that religion means to believe in a higher power, and atheism means the disbelief in a higher power, makes it seem impossible for atheism to be a religion itself. However, when a person asks someone the question Are you a Christian? , their response may be Yes, I am a Christian . On the other hand if one ask a person Are you Christian? they can also respond with No, I am an Atheist . The two responses have the same structures yet different meanings. Abstract In the last century with the invention of phase contrast microscopy by the Nobel Prize winner Frits Zernike, nucleoli were among the most con spicuous structures. The nucleolus was first de scribed between 1835 and 1839, but it had to go through another century before it was discovered to be related with a specific chromosomal locus, which marked it as a cytogenetic entity.1 At the end of the 18th century, Montgomery was the first to publish the monumental monograph, which included color figures of nuclei and nucleo li.1 Based on the Montgomery work, further studies where conducted to analyze the function of the nucleolus in the next century. In fact himself has studied nucleoli in the oocytes of over 175 differ ent species and had approached at three re markable conclusions that still hold true today: 1) In one cell there can be more than one nucleolus; 2) Cells with higher growth are presented with more and larger size; 3) The last conclusion was, the size of the cells interfere with the size of nucleolus.2 After the 1960 numerous discovers made a huge impact in the modern science, one of these is the study on the rRNA which lead to the conclusion that the nucleolus is the site of ribosomal RNA synthesis and nascent ribosome assembly.1 In the early 70s it was observed that the ribonu cleoprotein precursors to ribosomes contain two classes of protein. This would allow items to be caught before the entire process has been completed. Additionally, upgrades in the air filtration systems of the company, and the amount of time spent cleaning the machines would likely aid in the reduction of production errors, such as the reported nicks and scratches found on reworked and returned items. Processes that run the potential of contaminating each other could also be further separated through the addition of barriers. For example, the tin striping process, which utilizes special corrosive chemicals, has the potential to contaminate the boards and should be performed in a separate room (see Exhibit XX) so that the air within that area is kept localized and filtered, and the corrosive materials in the air are removed. • 38. sgsdfg Essay What is the Scale of Chemistry? Chemistry is the study of matter and its transformations. Everything that you can taste, touch, see or smell is composed of chemicals. All the chemicals around you are made from various combinations of the elements on the periodic table. These elements can range considerably in size; specifically, atoms at the top of the periodic table are smaller than those near the bottom. The study of atoms and the reasons for the trend in their sizes will be covered in class later this semester. Many of the chemicals we encounter everyday are molecular in structure. Molecules are specific combinations of atoms. The oxygen we breathe in and the carbon dioxide we breathe out are both molecular in their structure.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You may have different numbers of measurements for each entry in your table. Make sure to leave enough room to fit all of your measurements when drawing your table! This information is very cruel indeed, but what people don t know is that large meatpacking industries are the cause of this abuse. Organic farmers, on the other hand, treat their animals with more respect, and allow animals to be free range, resulting in healthier meat. Sarah has her head on straight and is on a track to a very successful career as an actuary. She is also a very family oriented individual. Sarah has a daughter that is two years old and a fiancГ© that she has been with for several years. Sarah is my favorite cousin because she is such a good person, it is just she feels like she cannot stop smokingcigarettes. In spite of all her qualities, she cannot quit smoking. Sarah says she is under a lot of stress right now and smoking relaxes her. She also explained she doesn t know where to start and all the methods she has already tried have not worked for her. Finally, Sarah does not feel like she has the strength to quit smoking. I love my cousin dearly and want to help her quit, so I have some advice for her. Sarah says she is under a lot of stress right now and smoking relaxes her. I understand that she is stressed with completing her final classes, but there are other ways. Cigarettes only relax her because she s giving her body a substance that it has become dependent on. First, I would suggest to Sarah that instead of smoking to rid her of stress she should try to exercise instead. Exercising is a great stress reliever and it doesn t have to be more than a minute long. I would also suggest that she begins to drink green tea or any other tea that relieves stress. Drinking tea is a much healthier way to rid stress and it is way more convenient than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Results Of Gothic Architecture The results of Gothic architecture in York In the 12th century architecture saw the progression from Romanesque architecture to the Gothic era, which saw the forthcoming of the prodigious cathedrals that were to become the architectural symbol of the middle ages. This was during a time of high aspirations. As well structural developments Gothic architecture is also associated with a change in thinking and social attitudes that are represented in numerous ways, essentially appealing to emotions. After the fall of the Roman Empire the political culture shifted from the feudal system to monarchy, bringing forth a cultural identity. Poetry and art became more personal and intimate, giving people individuality. It reflected the social sustainability of the modern age and the growing confidence of the Christian Church of Rome, which successfully lead crusades to reclaim the Holy land from the Islamic occupants. The representation of Christ changed from a godlike hero in the battle between good and evil to a tortured human figure that sacrificed him self on the cross for the sins of mankind. To respond, architects believed that light was the closest substance to God s true presence and focused on making a network of ribs and vaults reaching towards heaven.
