Marketing Plan For The Local Grocery
Philadelphia, another metropolitan area with its share of struggling neighborhoods, has tried to
find success by partnering with Food Trust. In 2012, the local grocery, Olivares signed up for a
program run by The Food Trust, a regional advocacy group that gets funding from a variety of
public and private sources. The Food Trust provided money and expertise, sprucing up the store
with a new refrigerated display case, awning, vegetable kiosk, as well as signs throughout
directing customers to the healthy eats (Hargreaves, 2015). The Trust provides training on how
to handle and fresh produce such as not storing the bananas next to the apples, as apples give off
ethylene, which rots the bananas. In addition, the Trust gives advice on how to sell produce, like
never letting just a few pieces of fruit linger at the bottom of a big box, as well as training with
ordering and book keeping (Hargreaves, 2015). Since partnering with Philadelphia s health
department in 2010, the Trust has done varying degrees of renovations on over 200 stores. A full
on conversion like Olivares cost about $60,000 (Hargreaves, 2015). Though somewhat costly and
no guarantee, preliminary data suggests the makeovers are having a positive impact on health.
Some stores in the program offer monthly neighborhood health checkups, and early indicators are
that people who shop in these stores are losing weight and lowering their blood pressure
(Hargreaves, 2015). Nationwide, at least a dozen other cities are

Report Assignment
This report comprises the Emissions Inventory of Stationary Sources for the United States Army
Garrison Kwajalein Atoll (USAG KA). The report was prepared according to Section 3 1.11.3 of
the USAKA Environmental Standards (UES) to update the inventory of stationary sources of air
pollutants following issuance of a DEP 13 002.0, Construction and Operation of Space Fence
Radar System. As appropriate for the additional new sources this update contains the appropriate
information as required by Section 3 1.11.3. This update also reflects reductions in the USAG KA

1.3Methods and Assumptions Emission rates were estimated using either an emission factor or
mass balance technique. Emission factors were primarily taken from USEPA s Compilation of Air
Pollutant Emission Factors (AP 42), Fifth Edition. Actual annual emission rates in tons per year are
calculated using the best available information such as annual throughput or hours of operation, as
appropriate for the source. Annualized hourly emission rates in pounds per hour are generally
calculated by dividing the actual annual emission rates by the number of hours in one year (8,760).
This provides the average hourly emission rate during the entire year, regardless of whether the
source was in operation. In general, maximum hourly emission rates are calculated as a function of
predetermined peak operational parameters, such as the maximum hourly charging rate and
maximum hourly fuel throughput for incinerators. For other sources, where maximum hourly
operational parameters are unknown, maximum hourly emission rates are generally calculated by
dividing the actual annual emission rates by the number of operating hours during the calendar
year. This provides the maximum emission rate for a one hour operating period, though the rate is
effectively averaged over the operational time frame. Maximum allowable hourly and annual
emissions are calculated by determining the maximum emission rate of a pollutant that can occur at
a source when operated at its

Stress is a common theme in my life. I have to admit that, for me, personally, it has become a
chronic condition. Recently, I have finally made the step of realizing that stress is the evil dictator
ruling a vicious cycle. A revolution is necessary:
Stress is something we have all experienced at some point in our lives. From a biological
perspective, stress is a phenomenon that occurs when we experience circumstances that disturb our
physical and mental equilibrium. These circumstances, which are referred to as stressors, include
heavy workloads, relationship problems, illnesses or upcoming, life changing events such as
weddings, divorces or childbirth. Stress is naturally occurring and can even be helpful in certain
situations such as being under pressure to finish an essay, but if stress is not relieved it becomes
chronic. Chronic stress can have negative effects on our physical and psychological condition,
relationships, work or school situation and other aspects of our social life.

History and Albert Einstein Albert Einstein was one of the greatest physicists of all time. His early
life demonstrated his fascination with science. Einstein s work changed how people viewed the
entire universe.
Einstein s was born on the 14th of March in 1879. He grew up in Ulm, Germany. Einstein had an
irregular education because he was always moving schools. Though being thrown around to many
schools he read many popular books on science. By the age of 17 he started attending the Federal
Polytechnic Academy in Zurich, Switzerland. While there Einstein studied physics and mathematics.
In 1905 Einstein was awarded his PH.D. from the University of Zurich. 1905 was also the year
that historians refer to has Einstein s miracle year . During this time he was wrote and published
five theoretical papers. One of these papers titled On a Heuristic Viewpoint Concerning the
Production and Transformation of Light, Einstein talked about how he believed that light is made
up of many photons that have particle like properties and behave like a wave. Einstein s work
would eventually lead to him getting the Nobel Prize in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

time and space are not absolute, but relative to the motion of the observer. Thus, two observers
traveling at great speeds in regard to each other would not necessarily observe simultaneous events
in time at the same moment, nor necessarily agree in their measurements of space. History.com also
stated In Einstein s theory, the speed of light, which is the limiting speed of any body having mass,
is constant in all frames of reference. In the fifth paper that year, an exploration of the mathematics

Should College Should Be Not Free For College Students
Over the years there has been the question whether college should be completely free for all
college students. Just this year the excelsior scholarship was introduced in which eligible college
students can attend a SUNY or CUNY college tuition free (Higher Education Services
Corporation). The other ways to get partially or completely free collegetuition is through the
programs of financial aid, opportunity programs and scholarships. All of these programs help
make college cheaper in order to make it easier for students to pursue a career. The issue with all
of these offers is that not every students is eligible for these programs. This hardship to afford a
college career guides them to their last and final resource, a student loan. According to the Federal
Student Aid a loan is borrowed money from the government that must be payed back with interest
(U.S Department of education). These loans can take up many years to pay back even many years
after the student has received their college diploma. For college students a loan is the last option
they have in order to be able to stay in college, the majority when they are faced with this option
they prefer to drop out because they cannot afford to pay. The government should take the
proposal into consideration of making public college education free for all college students. Every

career. Based upon the evidence from the huff

Fun House, Not So Fun
The autobiographical graphic novel Fun Home, by Alison Bechdel presents characters evolving to
the reader in an intimate way. She reveals within her novel the high cost of claiming to be gay or
lesbian within America. Instead of reading the author s recollection of her experiences, her graphic
novel connects the reader within the experience as the observer. This allows the reader to look at
both the personality of the novelist and the developmental impacts that have shaped her. Fun Home,
is a distinctively persuasive novel that is entangled within the lives of Alison s family. While
presenting to the reader the explanations of Bruce s death, Alison endeavors to adjust to the reality
of her father s death by remembering family life at the Fun House.
Alison introduces the mourning of her father to the readers as the central event of the story in
the first chapter. She proclaims her father s demise by saying; His death was quite possibly his
consummate artifice, his masterstroke. In essence she is broadcasting Bruce Bechdel death as a
clever move, while trying to acclimate to the reality of her father s death. Her lack of emotions
shows she has not adapted to reality, the comic strip illustrates her dead stair looking away from
her father s coffin. At the same time, family and friends believe Bruce was run over by a truck and
his death is an accident, but Alison is convinced

How Customer Service Has Grown And Changed Over The Years
This paper explores three published articles that report on subjects having to do with customer
support. Be the relationships online (Internet) and offline (non Internet) and how they relate to
customer service and the help desk environments. The articles have little variance in how they treat
and face the subject matter as this is more about the history and thus not a very subjective topic.
This paper examines these three works in relation to each other and to show how customer service
has grown and changed over the years, from face to face interactions to computer mediated
communication.
Keywords: customer service, help desk
The modern help desk is something most every consumer of technology will experience now
days, be it through toll free numbers, websites, instant messaging or e mail. However this is just
what a help desk has evolved into in the modern day. The need for good customer relations has
been around since the client customer model came into use. Known as customer support , it has
changed dramatically over the past 100 years.
The term help desk originally meant the place where employees would get technical support
relating to their company s information technologies infrastructure, recently the scope of this term
has expanded in its meaning and use. For instance in some educational settings the term could refer
to help provided in the reference library. Before the turn of the century customer and client
interaction relied on a

The Elements Of Robbery Under Common Law
Throughout history violent crimes against person had been an ever growing concern among the
populous. In response to this concern, English judges created the common law felony of robbery.
While the common law of robbery has existed throughout the centuries, not much has changed in
some of the modern state statues found today with the exception of creating degrees.
Robbery, under common law is the face to face threat or use of force to obtain property directly
from an individual or from their proximity with the intent to permanently deprive them of that
property (Bower, 2014). The elements of robbery under common law are robbery actus reus and
robbery mens rea (Samaha, 2013). The actus reus refers to the criminal act of use of force, or
threat of force during the crime. However, the amount of force used has to be greater than the
force necessary to take and carry away the person s property. For example, taking a woman s
wallet from inside of her purse would not constitute a robbery since the amount of force used was
enough to acquire it. Conversely, if the woman resisted and the person pushed or made a threat,
then it would be considered robbery. The second element, mens rea, is the intent to take someone
else s property and permanently depriving them of it. Additionally, unlike normal theft, robbery
mens rea includes the additional intent to use force or threat of force to acquire it (Samaha, 2013).
Similarly, other than creating degrees and types of robberies,

story starting on Page 6. Santiago deals with a recurring dream and he does not understand why
he is having it. This dream occurs every time Santiago sleeps under a sycamore tree that grows out
of the ruins of a church. In this dream a child tells Santiago to go after a treasure located by the
Egyptian pyramids. Santiago is confused by the message of the dream and goes to a gypsy woman
to try and understand the dream. She says that he should go to Egyptin pursuit of the treasure. This
leads to Santiago meeting a magical man who turns out to be the King of Salem. He says that
going to Egypt is Santiago s personal legend and he should set off for his journey tomorrow. This

Explain Three Ways To Reduce The Cost Of Buying A New Home
Three Ways to Reduce the Cost of Buying a New Home Through Builder Incentives
There are many great advantages to buying a new home versus a pre owned home. But they do
tend to cost more, and the location is limited. Although there is not much that can be done about
where the new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of
a home down. Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few
ways you can do this.
New home purchase rebates
Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates.
Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state
or even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them
are related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their
commission, and share it with the home buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a
reduction in closing costs, but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the
real estate agent that pays you the rebate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will sometimes do this for the slower moving homes in a new tract. Often these are the
homes that didn t have some of the options other homes in the same tract had. In order to sell
these homes, they may offer free upgrades for one or two features. This will add value to the home
without an increase in the home s price tag. Examples of these upgrades include a skylight,
appliance upgrades, and additional

The Importance Of The Heroic Tale Of Sundiata
Throughout history, storytellers have used fantastic fables to entertain his or her audience. Filled
with larger than life characters and amazing tales of heroism, on the surface these fables simply
seem like mass entertainment much in the same way comic book heroes entertain us today on the
silver screen. However, most of the time these epic, fantastic tales have a much deeper purpose for
both the storyteller and the audience. While the stories aim to entertain, more importantly, the epic
tales exist to hand down crucial histories from generation to generation. This is important to the
culture in which the story takes place, and is a true observation for the story of Sundiata, the
founding of the MaliEmpire, and the descendants of these Mali people. While on the surface, the
story is a heroic tale of Sundiata s early life as he overcomes many obstacles, defeats mystical and
magical foes, and finally emerges triumphant, it is really a tale designed to teach the audience the
history of the Mali Empireand the values and culture of the Mali people. This is tremendously
important to the Mali people back when the story was first told and is still important to them today.
As a historical oral epic, the tale of Sundiata tells the reader the story of the creation of the Mali
Empire. The events of the tale take place during the early 13th century and detail the early, difficult
life of Sundiata up until his final victory over the evil Soros. After this victory, Sundiata

Garden Gnome Research Paper
SUMMERTIME HAS ARRIVED, AND ON the cooler days, we can work in our gardens and
spruce up our lawn decorations. For some of us, that means we can fuss over our garden gnomes
and other colorful knick knacks and statues. Mankind has been adorning their gardens with small
statuary ever since antiquity. Historically, many of these early figurines were religious in nature;
but, over the centuries, these gardenprotectors were embraced by the whimsical world of folklore.
Modern garden gnomes, as we think of them today, first became truly popular in the 1800s in
Germany. By some accounts, these German Gartenzwerge (garden dwarfs) were commercially
produced as early as 1841, and they were viewed as happy, helpful creatures. Appearing in their
ever stylish hats, these German figurines spread across Europe and eventually caught the eye of a
well to do Englishman, Sir Charles Edmund Isham, 10th Baronet. In 1847, Isham purchased twenty
one garden gnomes from Nuremberg and displayed them at his home, Lamport Hall,
Northamptonshire. Only one gnome (named Lampy) survives to this very day, but he was a part of
the original crew who has been credited with starting the garden gnome craze in the UK (and, later,
the world). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next change came along in the 1960s when telephones were first being converted from rotary

Abstract
In the present work AISI 316L stainless steel samples have been welded by MIG welding. Butt
joints have been made. Plate thickness is kept constant (= 3mm). Some important parameters have
been varied during welding. Thus several butt welded joints have been made. Each sample of the
joints has been prepared under certain combination of welding parameters. The parameters
considered for variation, in the present work have been welding current, gas flow rate and nozzle
to plate distance. The design of experiment has been done using L9 Taguchi design of experiment.
The influence of the process parameters (mainly current, gas flow rate and nozzle to plate distance)
has been examined visually and also through X ray radiographic tests. Next, samples have been cut,
machined to conform to some specified dimensions for tensile testing. The quality of the weld has
been evaluated in terms of ultimate strength, yield strength and percentage of elongation of the

Improv Satire
This is the most underrated film of 2016. It s perfect for anyone feeling a bit lost, looking for a
laugh, or suffocating under the weight of career failure. (Guess who s three for three?)
The story follows a group of friends that work together as an improv troupe at a sinking theater.
Improv can often come with the stigma of being awkward and unfunny, but the improv scenes are
some of the strongest throughout the entire film. Although the humor does fall flat in some spots
(sometimes people just need to know when to let it go and move on) overall the jokes are funny
and in good taste. Most are situational rather than offensive.
Past all of that, what makes the movie spectacular are the people, relationships, and the messages

Sometimes a wrench can be thrown into your plans and where you end up may not be where
you thought you d end up in a million years. However, like one of the first rules of improv, going
with the flow is the best way to live an unpredictable life. It s important to dream big and have
goals, but one person s dream is not always another s. Sometimes staying in a small improv troupe
with friends is a better life path than making it onto national television, and that s okay. There s
more than one road to happiness.
It also shows that on the road to living your best life, sometimes people or things can get left
behind. Change is good, people have different goals, and even though it can hurt, sometimes you
have to leave someone behind in order to move both of your lives forward. Although every
character began with the same goal and only two actually reached it, each character s ending felt
fitting and fulfilling. There s more than one path to happiness and success in life, and this movie
showed it well.
Overall, as someone who s going with the flow but has no idea where life is taking me, this movie
was a comfort and a learning tool. The rules of improv are universal and great life advice that I m

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Dual Citizenship
Dual citizenship refers to an individual who is recognised as a national in two countries
concurrently (U.S. Department of State). It exists when one applies for citizenship in a country
other than the one they were born in. There has been much controversy shrouding the topic because
some feel that restricting dual citizenship violates human rights, while others see it as something
that would potentially dilute national identity. However, Singapore has taken a firm stand, and
opposed such laws. This essay will explore both the advantages and disadvantages of dual
citizenship, but contend that dual citizenship poses more as a threat than a benefit to Singapore s
society. Due to the influx of permanent residences, the demand for the consent... Show more content

Therefore, it is to be ensured that Singaporeans are loyal to their home country. Having
Singapore citizens with dual citizenship means that those people have divided allegiance to two
countries. This leads to another question. Do the people with dual citizenship see themselves as
Singaporeans or Americans (for example)? What happens if Singapore faces a war? Who is to
say that they will remain steadfast and defend Singapore? They might just flee to their second
home . Then does this not serve as a disadvantage to citizens who were born and raised in
Singapore? Albeit unlikely to happen, the safety that we experience in Singapore must not be
taken for granted. Singapore needs unwavering citizens who will not abandon it when times get
tough. It gives other countries the excuse to bully and look down upon Singapore. Another issue
that arises which is also related to Singapore s defense is the requirement for males with dual
citizenship to serve National Service (NS). Is it still mandatory for them to serve NS even if they
are living abroad? Thus, there are many complexities that need to be ironed out, should dual
citizenship be allowed in

Lord Capulet To Blame In Romeo And Juliet
The story of Romeo and Juliet, tragedy no doubt, but this 421 year old play doesn t have a
defined cause, until now. At the end of the novel, star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet take their
own lives. What drew them to this, who got them in this position, is a hard question. My claim
is that it was Juliet s father Lord Capulet who should be blamed. He pressures Juliet, he s hasty
and sporadic, and is already half of the problem in the beginning. Lord Capulet isn t the best
father. He pressures a forced marriage on Juliet, when she is already married to Romeo. When she
protests he throws a tantrum and yells at Juliet. Proud, and I thank you, and I thank you not, And
yet not proud ? Mistress minion you... (167 Shakespeare). He does not have much regard towards
her opinion.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book he advances the wedding of Paris and Juliet a day earlier. He doesn t take no for an
answer. Lady Capulet: No not till Thursday. There is time enough. Capulet: Go, Nurse. Go with.
We ll to church tomorrow. (189 Shakespeare). Lord Capulet straight up ignores his wife. Also, as
seen in paragraph 2, he throws a tantrum when he doesn t get what he wants. However, I do
have a counter argument. Who killed Romeo and Juliet is a grey area. It is a common theory
that it was both of the teens fault. Aristotle concluded more than 2,300 years ago that the young
are heated by Nature as drunken men by wine. (Beautiful Brains, Dobbs). Them dying could be
easily avoidable if they didn t kill themselves. On top of the 2 reasons I have presented, I have
another. He was already the problem when the book started. It was in fact Capulet s servants that
started the fight at the beginning of the book. If he was nice and pushed the family feud behind
him, then Romeo and Juliet might have been able to be public about their marriage. If he was a
good father he would have done the right

Sociological Perspective Of A Deviant Subculture

sociological perspectives like functionalist, post modernist, Marxist, feminist, left and right realist
and labelling explain deviant subcultures in various ways. In this report, I am going to look at a
post modernist and functionalist sociological perspective and analyse their explanations.
A deviant subculture is a subculture that has different norms and values which are totally the
opposite from norms and values that the majority of people would follow in the wider society.
Subcultural theories explain about set deviant norms and values and how these norms and values

Drift.
Drift is the final concept of Matza s theory which explains delinquency (developing idea s that
youths are loosened from society, they lack control over their own lives and are just drifting along
as they don t have a place within society, but lust to gain some control within their lives). This
suggests that they are more influenced to commit deviant behaviours specially if it has been
suggested by a peer group so by doing this they feel they will some control within their life.
Evaluation.
Downes did some of his own research a study on East end adolescents and backs up Matza s
theory, he found that these youths had a lack of satisfaction in their jobs or school which led to
stress, Downes called this leisure values which are very like Matza s subterranean values.
Matza did not look to attempt to place delinquency within a wider framework of structural location
or economic/social situations this could explain why young working class youths who seem to be

The Catholic Church Should Accept That Gay Marriage
The Catholic Church should accept that gay marriage is morally acceptable and doesn t
contradict their beliefs. Gay marriage has been a topic of controversy ever since the 1970 s. May
of 1970 to be exact. Around This time two men named Richard John Jack Baker and James
Michael McConnell in Minnesota applied to Hennepin County District Court clerk Gerald Nelson
for a marriagelicense. They were denied because they both were men. This issue of two people
of the same sex getting married is still a topic of debate to a lot of people even after the U.S.
Supreme court made gay marriage legal in all 50 states in 20151. The Catholic Church teaches to
treat homosexuals with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. That every act of hate, violence, and
persecution toward them is condemned. The Church doesn t view homosexuals no poorly than
they do everyone else but it is their views on marriage that are in question. They believe that all
sexual activity outside of marriage as a sin and an immoral act. So, if we restrict marriage from

Johnny Cash Research Papers
Johnny Cash may have grown up working on a cotton farm, but he had big dreams. Johnny Cash
was born on February 26, 1932 in a small town called Dyess, just outside of Kingsland, Arkansas
( Johnny Cash 1). Growing up in a small town may have been one of the major factors that kept
Cash humble in his later years. Cash grew up in poverty with his mom, Carrie, his dad, Ray, and
his seven brothers and sisters ( Johnny 1). Because Cash was raised this way, he did not care
about the money that was involved in his future career. He always knew that he would become a
star even if it took a while. Cash graduated from Dyess High School in 1950 ( Johnny 2). Cash
didn t go to college but he joined the Air Force right after high school graduation ( Johnny Cash1).
Cash was always passionate about his music; even when he was in the military he dreamed of
playing his music for a living.
There are a few major things that influenced Cash in his youth. When Cash was twelve years old,
his brother Jack was killed in a farming accident ( Johnny Cash 1). Most people believe that this
accident caused the pain and rebellion Cash shows in his music. Not only did Jack s death
influence Cash s personality, it influenced his style of music as well. By listening to Cash s music,
it is very evident that there is sorrow and wonder in his heart. Cash grew up listening mainly to
hymns in his Baptist church ( Johnny 2). He listened to hymns by all of the great country music

Scarlet Letter Pearl Quotes
Little innocent Pearl. The baby born into one of the worst sins possible and has to stand with her
mother while she is humiliated publically. Pearl is the one that helps Hester get through this
tough time and she makes the story. Without Pearl, Hester would have given up on life and left
all good morals behind. Through Pearl s actions and encounters with people readers learn how
important she is as a character in The Scarlet Letter. In the novel, readers are told about Pearl s
appearance. (quote on how Pearl looks) Pearl resembles the scarlet letter that is upon her mother s
bosom. Hawthorne does this because she is a symbol of adultery just like the A is. She admires the

She screamed and shouted, too, with a terrific volume of sound which, doubtless, caused the
hearts of the fugitives to quake within them. The victory accomplished, Pearl returned quietly to
her mother, and looked up, smiling, into her face. (96). Pearl yells at the kids who are throwing
mud at her mother because she is a child and doesn t know any better. At first, as already told,
she had flirted fancifully with her own image in a pool of water, beckoning the phantom forth,
and as it declined to venture seeking a passage for herself into the sphere of impalpable earth and
unattainable sky.(168). Now that she is older, she has noticed how her mother acts around other
people and plays by herself. She has fun even though she is her only friend. Pearl begins to care
about other things than just herself. Perceiving a flock of beach birds that fed and fluttered
along the shore, the naughty child picked up her apron full of pebbles, and creeping from rock to
rock after these small seafowl, displayed remarkable dexterity in pelting them. (168). When she
sees that she has hurt the poor creature she stops throwing the pebbles. Her emotions build due to
her being alone for so long. Pearl wants a friend, but Hester knows that if Pearl has friends they
will tell her the true meaning of the scarlet

Alicia Zakon’s Poem, Remote Control Essay
Two of the main elements in any poem are theme and symbolism. This holds true in Alicia Zakon s
poem titled Remote Control . It essentially tells about the relationship between a man and a woman,
and how the man has the remote control to the woman s life. The symbols used are very
meaningful to the overall theme. The theme of Remote Controlis also very important, and not just a
topic for a good poem but a real problem in society too. The writing would be much less effective
if not for the symbols used throughout the very strong overall message.
Symbolism is defined as the practice of representing things by means of symbols or of attributing
symbolic meanings or significance to objects, events, or relationships. The whole ... Show more

Zakon tells the woman to look back to when she gave the man the remote control to her life, and
how she could have prevented it. She then makes the reference to fast forward your life , and tells
the woman how things will be the same as they are today, and the woman will still hurt inside and
the man will still control her life. Reset you is one of the strongest lines in the poem, informing the
woman to reset her life and take back control. Zakon then tells the woman to push play , and start
her life anew.
The theme is very important in a poem, because it is the implicit or recurrent idea throughout the
writing. The theme in Remote Control is how not only the man in the poem controls the woman s
life, but how it happens all over the world everyday. Many women suffer day in and day out,
whether it is because they are afraid of what will happen if they do not let their man control them, or
if it is because they are too insecure to change. When men try to control women, they are
demonstrating their own weakness in this regard. In other words, the implicit assumption is that
men are too weak to control themselves. When a man cannot control himself, he turns to other
options, most of the time the female in his relationship.
In conclusion, almost no poem is complete without the use of symbolism. Symbols are often used
to take the poem to a higher level. Furthermore, the theme of a poem is equally important. The
theme lays out the meaning or message

Urban Poverty In Planet Of Slums By Mike Davis
In the passage, Planet of Slums by Mike Davis, the author has a dystopic view on urbanization
and argues that urban poverty is increasing and has a negative impact on the world. His dystopic
vision can be written off as a society with undesirable traits such as poverty, oppression, and
overcrowding. Davis s vision on these people s lifestyle can be compared and contrasted with
Robert Neuwirth s view of this lifestyle in his passage, Shadow Cities and the film Sleep Dealer by
Alex Rivera.
The author Mike Davis has done countless research on the topic of urban poverty. In his studies he
collects and receives his information from other sources. Perhaps this is the reason why he has a
negative view on slums. This is illustrated in his piece Planet of Slums as he discusses the politics,
urban development, and methods within the slums population. According to Davis, slums and
urban poverty have and will continue to significantly increase. While doing so, the gap in
exclusion and inequality will grow. As a result, this will weaken urban elites in their work to utilize
cities as engines of growth. Slums and slum population are classified as those who are living below
the poverty lines, all while, being associated with overcrowding, having poor or informal housing,
inadequate access to safe water and sanitation, and insecurity of tenure. This is being recognized as
an international phenomenon. To emphasis this phenomenon, approximately half of the slum

Harvey V. Hadfield 13 Utah 2d 1979
It is likely that a court will find Caterers Unlimited did not contract with Kris Hamilton for items
deemed as necessaries under Utah s Legal Capacity of Children statute. The statute states a minor
is bound not only for reasonable value of necessaries but also by his contracts, unless he
disaffirms them. Utah Code Ann. В§ 15 2 2 (1953). The Utah court further explains this
legislation in Harvey v. Hadfield, where the court specifically recognizes the justice and propriety
of refusing to enforce contracts against minors, except for necessities and reaffirms that the
purpose of the 15 2 statute is to protect minors from imprudent acts until they have the maturity of
judgment necessary to deal with opposing parties on equal terms so that it is fair and equitable to
bind them by their acts. Harvey v. Hadfield, 13 Utah 2d 258, 372 P.2d 985 (1962). Although the
Utah courts have failed to explicitly define the term necessaries, authority from the Arizona Court
of Appeals in the Valencia v. White case determined that necessaries constitute items such as food,
clothing, housing, and other basic requirements to sustain life Valencia v. White, 134 Ariz. 139, 654
P.2d 287 (Ct. App. 1982). It should be noted that the Arizona court did not created a strict test to
determine necessaries, instead choosing to determine each case on a factual and reasonable basis.

Causes Of Colorectal Cancer
Discussion
Colorectal cancer is still a critical issue and threatening society s health (36,37). Tumors have
developed different mechanisms for deceiving, counteracting, and onslaught the immune defense
(38). Tumor cells secret different soluble factors, cytokines, chemokines (16,38,39), and exosomes
(40) that recruit different heterogeneous supporting inflammatory cells such as B cells, T cells,
mast cells, fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, mononuclear cells (MNCs), macrophages and MDSCs in
the TME. The TME infiltrate with the recruited different cells by secreted factors from tumors

5, 6). These enhancement and decline in secreted cytokines level are probably are due to the
autocrine and paracrine impact of secreted soluble factors, exosomes, and cytokines releasing from
tumour cells. Secreted factors from tumor cells recruited monocytes from peripheral blood toward
TME. Hence, the level of secreted inflammatory cytokines related with inflammatory monocytes
and M1 macrophages increased (Table. II). Whereas, the level of secreted anti inflammatory
cytokines related with anti inflammatory monocytes and M2 macrophages decreased (Table. II).
This study, with consideration of inflammatory and anti inflammatory genes associated with
inflammatory and anti inflammatory monocytes, indicated that mononuclear cells were
differentiated towards inflammatory monocytes. Hence, we hypothesized that colorectal cancer
conditioned media (HT 29, and Caco 2) have an impact on the differentiation of monocytes isolated
from PBMCs towards inflammatory phenotype. Additionally, inflammatory monocytes secreted
more inflammatory cytokines.
Moreover, inflammatory and anti inflammatory monocytes and M1/M2 macrophages ratio were
increased through increasing inflammatory cytokines panel. Suggesting that M1/M2 ratio was
higher in CRC and infiltrating inflammatory monocytes and M1 macrophages might be dominating

Jack Ma Leadership Analysis
INTRODUCTION
The objective of this paper is to apply the knowledge learned in class by studying the leadership
characteristics and styles of a leader and what contributed to his/her successes and failures.
In my case I have chosen Jack Ma, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group. He has
become one of the most influential businessmen and is a global example of leadership. However,
his road to success was not easy. He had to overcome failure in several occasions and work hard to
build his own company and become an influential and powerful global leader.
The first thing that will be covered in this paper is his biography. This will help to understand what
kind of person he is, how he was able to arrive to a position of power and give an idea of his traits
and behaviors. Next, an in depth leadership analysis will follow. This analysis will be based on the
theories seen in class.
BIOGRAPHY
Jack Ma was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. He started studying English at an early
age and practiced English every day talking with English speakers at the Hangzhou International

found it difficult to pronounce his Chinese name.

Normative Ethical Relativism
The objective of this essay is to provide reasons as to why normative ethical relativism provides an
unattractive view on the nature of morality and why it should be rejected. In order to see this
negative relationship, this essay will identify three features of this theory that makes it problematic.
The first problematic feature of normative ethical relativism is based on the claim that moral
principles cannot be validated on a universal level. This means that different cultures should be free
to establish their own principles and basic values as a foundation for morality. As a result, correct
moral principles are based on the views of the majority or predominant population. Therefore it
would be wrong for any minority group to criticise against the moral views held by the majority
population in a society at any given time because the minority will always be wrong in virtue by
default because they hold the minority view. It is easy to see why this feature is problematic. This
feature in practice leads to inequality and unfairness towards the people within a society. This may
result in minorities being faced with a great danger of being oppressed by the majority. An example
of this is Nazi Germany and the holocaust. This feature is contradictory with the main message
behind normative ethical relativism in terms promoting equality among all.
Because minority criticism against the views of the majority does happen, this feature of normative
ethical relativism is criticized

Medicine And Placebos Pills Treat Migraine Headaches
Placebos are used as a form of treatment for patients; placebos offer no medication but seem to
relieve patents of the pain and symptoms they have (Seymour, 2011). Medication has down sides,
such as creating drug dependencies and increased tolerance for the drug resulting in a decrease in
the amount of success that drug has to treat the pain. Placebos offer a medicine free treatment to
help patients deal with pain. Many studies have been done to examine the difference between
medicine and placebos pills to treat migraineheadaches. Placebos have been found to have similar
pain relieving effects to medicine, without the harmful risks the medication has (Seymour, 2011).
Title
Placebos were first introduced into the medical world in the late 18th century (Seymour, 2011).
Placebos are used as a therapeutic procedure that affects a patient and removes symptoms of an
illness or pain by giving them a sham pill with no actual medication in it (Seymour, 2011). A
placebo effect is therefore a change in the patient s symptoms or illness after a placebo is given
(Seymour, 2011). A nocebo on the other hand, is the negative equivalent of the placebo effect; when
a patient expects a negative outcome of a treatment he or she will experience the undesirable
outcome that was expected (Benedetti, Durando, Vighetti, 2014). Both placebo and nocebo effects
can be provoked by observing others, which causes the release of several neurotransmitters, such as

Teaching Bilingual Students At The Elementary School Level
Based on my experience, the findings of this study are not surprising. Science has become a major
challenge for bilingual students at the elementary school level particularly those in fifth grade who
are scheduled to take the Science STAAR (in the past the TAKS) for the first time. In the schools I
taught, many students struggled with the Spanish version of the test. Teachers and administrators
claim that the reason for the students failure is the vocabulary. According to them, the Spanish
version contains science terms that are too sophisticated which make this test harder than the
English version. Coming from a science background and having received science educationin both
Spanish and English I found this intriguing. Soon I discovered that many teachers lack of basic
science skills and knowledge. Consequently, they rely on the resources provided by the district,
which were in occasions erroneous. In addition, most bilingual teachers in these schools did not
have teaching degrees or significant teaching experience. In situations like this the availability of
professional development for science bilingual teachers becomes of critical importance. However,
most training is designed for monolingual English speaking students. Bilingual educators are left
with the task of adapting materials in order to satisfy the needs of their students. This attempt often
causes translated materials to be inaccurate and inconsistent with the original materials. Another
factor that I noticed

Tort Reform Tort reform is very controversial issue. From the plaintiff s perspective, tort reforms

Why Are Women Naturally More Nurturing Than Men
I believe that women are not naturally more nurturing than men. Instead, this idea is a cultural
construct. From the archaeological record, it shows that women were the main contributors to
child care in the past societies. This was shown by ethnographic analogies, symbolic images,
written records, and burials (lecture.) From a biological perspective, women are pregnant for nine
months and during that time they are weak and fragile. This leads for the women to stay back and
take care of the children. It is essential for the women to take care of children, for they are to be an
increase into the population. Because of the high infantmortality in certain societies, it is important
to have children being cared for.

Analysis Of Disney s The Outer Shell Of Innocence
Females everywhere are obsessively trying to alter their appearance to mirror the perfect body
images surrounding us in today s media. Body image dominates media everywhere you look,
every time you turn your head we are pestered with beautiful women and perfect figures. The
overwhelming urge for women to have a body just like the perfect models and idols we see
plastered in media has spilled over into our children. Despite the outer shell of innocence, the
psychological and sociological effects of Disney figures misrepresent the ideal body image as
distorted to perfection and airbrushed to unrealistic; the iconic body image warping an adolescent
mind into aiming for unobtainable goals. Although advances on race and gender through
becoming more culturally rounded and balancing the demands of the public Disney fails in
forwarding their portrayal of accurate body image. Princesses along with other female
protagonists are displayed with size double zero waists, skinny limbs, and even small feet to the
point where bone structure is nonexistent. This unnatural, body size presented in Disney s
animated characters however, is what society calls for and demands. The thin ideal has existed in
American culture since the 1960s, and it is still increasingly popular today in numerous forms of
media; forty years later its impact has been so devastating it has become an expected norm. Our
society views a narrow, fragile figure as beautiful, and the media reflects that. In addition to

3.What different methods of worship does your religion practice?
Answer: Traditionally, Jews use certain rituals on a daily basis, too. Some of these are: putting on
the Tallit (a prayer shawl) and Tefillin (phylacteries, which are small leather boxes containing
verses from the Bible that remind Jews of their duties one worn on the forehead and one on the

4.Is there a particular day you practice these methods of worship?
Answer: Yes of course. Jews have long revered Shabbat, the Sabbath, as a taste of the world to

on Saturday night, observant Jews set aside time to pray and study a day to refrain from work and

Since the beginning of time, people have played sports. Unfortunately, some people can t play,

Essay on Positives of the Law
Positives of the Law
When President Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act in 2002, he promised that his education
reform would bring hope to children. The law calls for more testing in third to eighth grade each
year in reading and math (Bacon, 2003). Students will be tested to make sure that the schools are
adequately teaching them the information they should know.
In 53% of American schools, which receive direct Federal Government financial support because
they have large numbers of low income students, students can now transfer to another school or
receive free tutoring if their school fails for two years in a row to improve the test scores of its
students (Bacon, 2003).
The plan also ensures that teacher quality will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The President is also trying to make sure parents are more involved. Each state and school district is
required to give parents easy to read, detailed report cards about schools and school districts, telling
them which ones are succeeding and why. Included in the report cards are student achievement data
broken out by race, ethnicity, gender, English language proficiency, migrant status, disability status
and low income status, as well as important information about the professional credentials of
teachers (U.S. Department of Education, 2003). This makes sure that parents are involved in their
child s education and that they are able to make clear decisions on whether or not they want their
child at that specific school.
States are now receiving more funds than ever before for education. An estimate of about $23.7
billion will be used during this 2003 04 school year. Most of this money is being used to turn
around low performing schools, improve teacher quality and increase options for parents (U.S.
Department of Education, 2003). For the President s Reading First initiative, he has increased
funding from $300 million to $900 million to make sure schools are using systematically proven
methods of reading instruction (Bush, 2002).
In particular, New York State will receive $129

The Film Twelve Angry Men Which Was Produced In 1957,...
The film Twelve Angry Men which was produced in 1957, demonstrates how a jury room took
place in the 1950 s. The whole film except the first few minutes of it, takes place in a jury room
without air conditioning. It demonstrates how steamy and tense things can get between jurors when
it comes to deliberating a case. It is apparent that the theme of this film is justice. Why should this
18 year old boywho could possibly be innocent, receive the death penalty when he still has a
whole life ahead of him? The jurors deliberated on the trial of a first degree murder case of this
young boy who was accused of stabbing and killing his father. Their opinions are expressed and all
evidence is presented in order to conclude the verdictof the boy.... Show more content on

This was when the film becomes interesting. The argument of the film is the jurors deliberating
whether the boy is guilty. After juror number 8 stated the boy could be innocent, the other jurors
were stubborn and kept insisting to send the boy to the chair. The fact that all the other jurors
assumed that the boy was guilty was quite unfair. This was when the major conflict arose in the
film, when all but one juror disagreed with the punishment which then forced them to discuss the
case.
Since juror number 8 didn t agree with the rest of the jurors, he had to support his claim with the
evidence that was presented. He talked about the evidence that was collected from the crime.
Some of the evidence is strong and makes sense. Juror number 8 made several good points and
one of them was that it was not possible for the old man to have heard the yell. The juror claimed
that the old man had poor hearing and there was a train that passed by the house around the same
time the killing occurred. Therefore, how was it possible for the yell to have been heard? This
evidence relates to the rest of the evidence collected. The old man was not a good witness to the
case and so the juror had to continue to state the rest of the evidence in order to convince the other
men that the boy was not guilty. Another strong point that the writer made in this film is the
physical evidence that was used in the case. There was not much

Response To The Bible
This is how I would respond to my friend in option one:
The Bible is indeed made up of many different stories that are compiled in the sixty six books of
the Bible, but they all tell one overarching story; God s story. All the stories of the Bible, while not
seeming to fit together at first glance, flow together to create the story of God. From the beginning
of Genesis to the end of Revelation, God is there, and He reveals Himself and His plan for us
through the different stories (Everyday Bible Study, pg. 3 4). The Old Testament tells us the history
of humans and why we need a Savior and also points to the coming of that Savior, Jesus, whose life
is recorded in the gospels of the New Testament.
Because the Bible is God s story and not ours, if we begin reading the Bible expecting it to lay out
specific and easily followed guidelines for our lives, we miss the point of the Bible in the first
place. Yes, the Bible can help us navigate through our daily lives, but it s not a road map that
helps us choose the best path to take, its purpose is to show us what God s plan for us is ... Show

The Bible is God s word to us, and He is a kind and loving God. He wants us to know that we are
loved unconditionally and that He will never abandon us. As the Lord told us through Moses;
Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who
goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6). Yes, the Bible s stories
can help you cope with life in the real world, but the Bible is not just a self help book. Because
God is the focus of the Bible, the reassurances and words of encouragement have meaning and
substance. Instead of simply saying you re strong, you can get through this! the Bible tells me that I
can do all things through Him who strengthens me, (Philippians 4:13). Our strength does not come
from ourselves, but from

Tornado Wind Poem
Furthermore, in the fourth portion of the poem shows the speakers obligations to maintain her
freedom. In stanza four the speaker then states, I am a tornado child born in the whirl of clouds;
the center crumbled then I came. My lovers know the blast of my chaotic, giving that they
tremble at the whip of my supple thighs; you cross me at your peril, I swallow light when the
warmth of anger lashes me into a spin, the pine trees bend to me swept in my gyrations... (Lines
16 22). The speaker discusses his sexual encounters in lines sixteen through twenty two with the
Rosalie Richardson. The speaker explains how to maintain a sense of freedom through
sexuality, which was one of the ways that black southerners maintained their freedom. The last
lines of the poem which is in stanza five states, I am a tornado child. When the spirit takes my
head, I hurtle into the vacuum of white sheets billowing and paint a swirl of color, treaked with
my many songs (23 26). According to the text, stanza five just outlines the seemingly
purposeless nature of Rosalie s life. The speaker becomes creative by adding the use of colors to
describe the tone and Rosalie s feeling throughout the poem. The speaker uses white to describe
Rosalie life as a blank canvas and the swirl of color shows how she is open to various cultures,
which are greatly influenced by Dawes because he is exposed to numerous cultures. While
freedom is manifested in Dawes s poem, hopelessness is shown in Brooks poem. Therefore, in
Brooks poem We Real Cool, wickedness is defined through hopelessness. Throughout the poem
darkness manifests itself as the narrator discusses a group of teenagers that s all about living wild
and dying young because of hopelessness. The narrator starts off by displaying that they seem like
they are content with the alternative lifestyle that they outline throughout the poem, but that defiant
mood abruptly ends at the last line, when their demise seems to be an effect of all the
responsibility they had been putting off over the years. The poem describes the men s fears, their
motivations, and who they think they are, as opposed to who they really are. The first part of the
poem begins with, We real cool. We Left school (Lines

Kanner s Theory Of Autistic Children
In the mid 1900s, psychiatrist Leo Kanner and a pediatrician Hans Asperger used the same word
autism for a condition where children had deficits in socializing and forming contact. Stemming off
the greek word autos meaning self, Kanner stated that autistic children had good cognitive potential
yet they had islets of ability meaning their intelligence was focused in silos. There was an
assumption that autistics were incapable of intelligence and were mentally disabled. Later, Laurent
Mottron discredited the theories that autismis caused parents or refrigerator mothers and shed light
on the fact that neurotypicals lack the abilities of autistic savants. The view of individuals with
autism is skewed and as Amanda Baggs shows in her vivid video describing her behaviour, it...

These prodigies, who had reached professional status at a very young age had varying theories of
causation ranging from nurture to nature. The results indicated they had elevated level of
intelligence, working memory and attention to detail. Interestingly, however, their family pedigrees
showed an over representation of relatives with autism. This indicates a potential commonality
between child prodigies and savants genetically leading to the conclusion that child prodigies
possess a form of autism but suppress typical signs. In Carly s Voice , a book written by the father
of an autistic child, the chapter From the Horse s Mouth is Carly s own words on her experience
with autism. The challenge to understand autism comes from a lack of communication with autistic
individuals but as Carly walks through her processing she explains her behaviours. The
overstimulation that autistic individuals experience and the need for audio filtering, sorting out
sensory information, helps tear down barriers of the view of what autistic individuals are capable of

Minor Squabbles
Huber states that creative problem solving is the most effective mode of conflict management
(2014, p. 175). Initially, the nurse manager should allow all parties involved an opportunity to
explain their position. This projects an authentic interest and commitment to fairness on the part of
the manager, as the manager attempts to reframe the conflict into a productive outcome.
Not all conflict needs to be addressed. Small, minor squabbles can sometimes be left to extinguish
on their own, this is using the avoiding technique. However, minor squabbles that draw the
attention and added investment of others may fan the flames of conflict and require an intervention
by the nurse manager. Accommodation is another technique used in conflict management.

Trinity Theory
The Trinity
The Trinity is the foundation in which Christianity is laid upon. Each of the three figures are
crucial to understanding the religion. Without understanding one of these, a person cannot fully
grasp Christianity. The Trinity is a theory that attempts to explain exactly what is Jesus to God and
God to the Holy Spirit. Having said that, it begs the question, what is the explanation given by the
Trinity?
The Trinity is a representation of the holy or godly figures in Christianity; The Father , Jesus The
Son , and the Holy Spirit. (Christian Beliefs PowerPoint). Specifically, it states that The Father ,
Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all God (Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity). Bart states in his
YouTube video, Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity, that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are
all equal in power because they are all embodiments of God himself but, he reiterates that, there is
still only one God. This conundrum basically equates to a theorem stating that 1=1 and at the same
time, 1=3. After coming to that conclusion, Bart Ehrman offers a ground for solace, stating The
Trinity is a mystery, a person cannot understand it, that is why it is a mystery. (Bart Ehrman on the
Origins of the Trinity)
This contradicts the statements in the beginning of the essay, saying a person must understand the
Trinity in order to grasp Christianity. Although, a person cannot understand how the Trinity is
possible, they can understand the whole

Essay about Prime Minister vs. Usa President
Many people would like to believe that the president is the most powerful person in the world.
However, the structure of America has put restraints on the president that a Prime Minister would
not have. There are many differences between the President of the United States and the Prime
Minister of Canada. These differences include regulations, term of office, powers, and cultures.
Throughout this paper you will learn that just being the leader of their country is about as similar
as these two people get.
Here in the United States, we have had many presidents throughout the years. Starting with George
Washington, and finishing up with George Bush. Our presidentis the chief executive, with the
legislative and judicial branches to keep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A president has a limit of time in office, and can serve up to two terms, four years at a time. I
believe like this is a good and bad thing. While it gives our president time to make good decisions,
and time to actually change things in our country, if the president has bad ratings, there is nothing
we can do about it until his term is up. There is only one circumstance when a president can be
voted out of office before his term is up, and that is called impeachment. This can happen when the
president has committed acts treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors, thus giving
the power to the house of representatives to impeach him, and the senate the power to remove him
for office, given a two thirds vote to convict. This rarely happens though, and throughout history
only two presidents have ever been impeached; Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998
(http://biden.senate.gov). In Canada, the Prime Minister s terms of office are determined much
differently. The prime minister is appointed by the Governor General on behalf of the queen. The
governor general will typically pick the leader of the party that has the most seats in the house to
maintain stability in the government. Unlike the president, the prime minister does not have a fixed
term of office. Canada s constitution, The Constitution of Canada, limits each parliament member
to five years, and then a general

Leadership Opportunities Of The Youth Association Pee Wee...
Leadership opportunities abound not only in the work setting, but in churches, communities, and
neighborhoods as well. By taking on community leadership roles, individuals give back to the
community and gain valuable experience that will serve them well in the workplace. In my own
experience, I led the Chantilly Youth Association Pee Wee Soccer program for three years. In this
capacity, I created schedules, reserved fields and gyms, ordered uniforms, arranged for the
training of officials, collected money, and created teams for over 500 young children. I had a
vision for the program and helped it grow.
While Pee Wee Soccer is not rooted in a faith filled tradition, faith based leadership skills apply.
Running such a large program affords the opportunity to teach as Jesus did, at least with respect to
community and service, and gain valuable insight into organizational behavior. Perhaps the most
essential lesson learned is that to be successful, it is important to consider the needs of everyone
involved, and not merely the needs of a few.
Catholic School Leadership
The skills gained through Pee Wee Soccer prepared me well for the leadership roles I undertook
in my early years as a Catholic school teacher. Whether in the role as Math Committee chairperson
or as leader of the Word Study program, developing a vision, articulating that vision, and seeing it
through to completion helped me gain support from my peers and colleagues as I took on more
responsibility and further

as my teammates. As I walked, I looked ahead of the group for the best place to get out of the

it had plenty of shade. When I arrived at the stump, I set my rifledown and quickly took off my

Just like me, most of the other deployed troops had a weird obsession with wanting to eat at a
fast food restaurant again. After spending over 12 hours flying from the Middle East back to
America, we finally landed at Dallas International Airport. This was the first time we were able
to eat real American food in what felt like a lifetime. As we began to get off the plane, emotions
ran high. We finally made it! The sense of joy was almost too hard to handle. All 150 of us
dispersed around the airport looking for the restaurant we wanted. I went off by myself and
walked around aimlessly with a shock and awe feeling. I felt like a foreigner in my own country.
There were so many choices that I could not make up my mind. I went from restaurant to
restaurant looking at all the menus. I was overwhelmed by all the choices and began to get
flustered. As I started to give up on finding a spot due to an uncontrollable anxiety, I heard the
same trainee that tossed the MRE to me yell Taylor! I looked over and he was sitting with some
other troops at a table at TGI Fridays. I went over and sat down with them with a sense of relief.
I ordered a medium rare bacon double cheeseburger with fries. When the food arrived at our table,
the smell of the bacon on top of two cheesy beef patties was heavenly. I was so excited that I

An Analysis Of Sherman s Unorthodox Tactics Of The Civil War

Dr. Lisa Arter
ENGL 2010: Toulmin Argument
20 July 2015
General Sherman s Unorthodox Tactics that Ended the Civil War
Scorched farms, slaughtered livestock, uprooted railway lines and cities set on fire was not typical
battle strategy previously seen on American soil. However, the Civil War was dragging on and
General William Tecumseh Shermanwas determined to finally end the fighting. The circumstances
that initiated the war created a figurative and literal divide unlike America had ever seen. The
American Civil Wartook heavy tolls on the Union and Confederate States of America. Desperate to
end the bloodshed, President Abraham Lincoln trusted Ulysses S. Grant control of the Army and
Grant authorized Sherman the freedom to do whatever necessary to bring conclusion to the
conflict (Davis 22). In the military mind of Sherman, the end justified the means and this belief is
well documented throughout his 1864 and 1865 campaign through Georgia, concluding in
Goldsboro, North Carolina (Phillips 11). Sherman despised war and the fact that America had
entered into a civil war in the first place. However, Sherman knew the conflict was unavoidable
(Meiers 26). He made the decision to follow his allegiance to the Union and eventually became the
general to lead the Armies of the Cumberland, the Ohio, and the Tennessee into the heart of Georgia
(Moody 22). During this event the wrath of general Sherman would be implanted in the South s
memories. By the use of unorthodox

Innocence In The Quiet American
Innocence is blindness. To be innocent is to be unaware of important parts of a situation. When
someone is innocent to a problematic situation or crisis, they do not have enough knowledge to
form an opinion that could help find a solution. As a result, that person becomes problematic if
they attempt to help find a solution. People are always biased to the knowledge they have,
whether it is true or false, a lot or a little. When innocent people look to solve a problem, they are
biased to their innocence, which often causes more harm than good. In The Quiet American, by
Graham Greene, Alden Pyle is an innocent, and therefore problematic, character. The novel is set in
1950s Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Pyle is representative of the American

It is necessary to justify the means of achieving their goal. Because they believe that it is their duty

people, even though the number of deaths does not determine who wins the war. They cause excess
damage that outweighs the good they are doing. They are trying to help Vietnam, but at the same
time, they cannot recognize the destruction they are bringing to the nation. They believe that they
are not causing any serious harm because they are different in their cause. That is what American
exceptionalism encompasses. Pyle and those like him want to be the ones who save Vietnam: the

How do William Blake and William Wordsworth respond to...
How do William Blake and William Wordsworth respond to nature in their poetry? The Romantic
Era was an age, which opened during the Industrial
(1800 1900) and French Revolution (1789). These ages affected the romantic poets greatly by
disrupting and polluting nature. Before the
Industrial Revolution, William Blake wrote about Songs of Innocence.
He also wrote Songs of Experience but after the Industrial
Revolution. William Wordsworth, on the other hand, continued on an optimistic route and ignored
the Industrial Revolution in his poems.
He instead wrote about nature only and its beauty. Previous Augustan poets were more controlled
and rule governed. They were also concerned with order.
In Blake s London , he describes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wordsworth talks about the mind being free and relaxed, Ne er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep!
The adjective
deep shows how immense the tranquility is. It also shows how the poem is personal, Ne er saw I.
He sets the scene in the morning, creating a feeling of calmness and peace, The beauty of the
morning; silent, bare. The noun beauty implies splendor and magnificence, showing the opposite
of what Blake writes about London . The adjective silent is also the opposite of what Blake writes in
London , How the youthful Harlot s curse . Wordsworth mentions the daffodils as people, When
all at once I saw a crowd. Similarly, he uses personification, crowd , to imply that everyone is
unified in nature. He uses color in his poem to indicate a deeper meaning, A host, of golden
daffodils. The adjective golden illustrates purity as well, therefore connecting it to innocence. The
noun host has a slight religious tone, which also relates to purity. The Daffodils has eight syllables
in each line. This makes the poem seem more complex than Spring .
In Spring , a lively tone is repeated throughout the poem, Merrily, merrily we welcome in the year.
The adverb merrily is repeated to highlight the positive tone of the poem and to make it last longer.
The pronoun we welcome in the year also shows us how everyone is unified in nature. Blake uses
colour to expand the meaning of the sentence, Come and

  • 2. Marketing Plan For The Local Grocery Philadelphia, another metropolitan area with its share of struggling neighborhoods, has tried to find success by partnering with Food Trust. In 2012, the local grocery, Olivares signed up for a program run by The Food Trust, a regional advocacy group that gets funding from a variety of public and private sources. The Food Trust provided money and expertise, sprucing up the store with a new refrigerated display case, awning, vegetable kiosk, as well as signs throughout directing customers to the healthy eats (Hargreaves, 2015). The Trust provides training on how to handle and fresh produce such as not storing the bananas next to the apples, as apples give off ethylene, which rots the bananas. In addition, the Trust gives advice on how to sell produce, like never letting just a few pieces of fruit linger at the bottom of a big box, as well as training with ordering and book keeping (Hargreaves, 2015). Since partnering with Philadelphia s health department in 2010, the Trust has done varying degrees of renovations on over 200 stores. A full on conversion like Olivares cost about $60,000 (Hargreaves, 2015). Though somewhat costly and no guarantee, preliminary data suggests the makeovers are having a positive impact on health. Some stores in the program offer monthly neighborhood health checkups, and early indicators are that people who shop in these stores are losing weight and lowering their blood pressure (Hargreaves, 2015). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.3Methods and Assumptions Emission rates were estimated using either an emission factor or mass balance technique. Emission factors were primarily taken from USEPA s Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors (AP 42), Fifth Edition. Actual annual emission rates in tons per year are calculated using the best available information such as annual throughput or hours of operation, as appropriate for the source. Annualized hourly emission rates in pounds per hour are generally calculated by dividing the actual annual emission rates by the number of hours in one year (8,760). This provides the average hourly emission rate during the entire year, regardless of whether the source was in operation. In general, maximum hourly emission rates are calculated as a function of predetermined peak operational parameters, such as the maximum hourly charging rate and maximum hourly fuel throughput for incinerators. For other sources, where maximum hourly operational parameters are unknown, maximum hourly emission rates are generally calculated by dividing the actual annual emission rates by the number of operating hours during the calendar year. This provides the maximum emission rate for a one hour operating period, though the rate is effectively averaged over the operational time frame. Maximum allowable hourly and annual emissions are calculated by determining the maximum emission rate of a pollutant that can occur at a source when operated at its ... I have to admit that, for me, personally, it has become a chronic condition. Recently, I have finally made the step of realizing that stress is the evil dictator ruling a vicious cycle. A revolution is necessary: Stress is something we have all experienced at some point in our lives. From a biological perspective, stress is a phenomenon that occurs when we experience circumstances that disturb our physical and mental equilibrium. These circumstances, which are referred to as stressors, include heavy workloads, relationship problems, illnesses or upcoming, life changing events such as weddings, divorces or childbirth. Stress is naturally occurring and can even be helpful in certain situations such as being under pressure to finish an essay, but if stress is not relieved it becomes chronic. Chronic stress can have negative effects on our physical and psychological condition, relationships, work or school situation and other aspects of our social life. Stressors initiate ... Just this year the excelsior scholarship was introduced in which eligible college students can attend a SUNY or CUNY college tuition free (Higher Education Services Corporation). The other ways to get partially or completely free collegetuition is through the programs of financial aid, opportunity programs and scholarships. All of these programs help make college cheaper in order to make it easier for students to pursue a career. The issue with all of these offers is that not every students is eligible for these programs. This hardship to afford a college career guides them to their last and final resource, a student loan. According to the Federal Student Aid a loan is borrowed money from the government that must be payed back with interest (U.S Department of education). • 8. Fun House, Not So Fun Linda Ray English 230 Instructor: Dr. Hernandez Date: November 6, 2016 Fun House, Not So Fun The autobiographical graphic novel Fun Home, by Alison Bechdel presents characters evolving to the reader in an intimate way. She reveals within her novel the high cost of claiming to be gay or lesbian within America. Instead of reading the author s recollection of her experiences, her graphic novel connects the reader within the experience as the observer. This allows the reader to look at both the personality of the novelist and the developmental impacts that have shaped her. Fun Home, is a distinctively persuasive novel that is entangled within the lives of Alison s family. While presenting to the reader the explanations of Bruce s death, Alison endeavors to adjust to the reality of her father s death by remembering family life at the Fun House. Alison introduces the mourning of her father to the readers as the central event of the story in the first chapter. She proclaims her father s demise by saying; His death was quite possibly his consummate artifice, his masterstroke. In essence she is broadcasting Bruce Bechdel death as a clever move, while trying to acclimate to the reality of her father s death. Her lack of emotions shows she has not adapted to reality, the comic strip illustrates her dead stair looking away from her father s coffin. At the same time, family and friends believe Bruce was run over by a truck and his death is an accident, but Alison is convinced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. How Customer Service Has Grown And Changed Over The Years This paper explores three published articles that report on subjects having to do with customer support. Be the relationships online (Internet) and offline (non Internet) and how they relate to customer service and the help desk environments. The articles have little variance in how they treat and face the subject matter as this is more about the history and thus not a very subjective topic. This paper examines these three works in relation to each other and to show how customer service has grown and changed over the years, from face to face interactions to computer mediated communication. Keywords: customer service, help desk The modern help desk is something most every consumer of technology will experience now days, be it through toll free numbers, websites, instant messaging or e mail. However this is just what a help desk has evolved into in the modern day. The need for good customer relations has been around since the client customer model came into use. The term help desk originally meant the place where employees would get technical support relating to their company s information technologies infrastructure, recently the scope of this term has expanded in its meaning and use. • 10. The Elements Of Robbery Under Common Law Throughout history violent crimes against person had been an ever growing concern among the populous. In response to this concern, English judges created the common law felony of robbery. While the common law of robbery has existed throughout the centuries, not much has changed in some of the modern state statues found today with the exception of creating degrees. Robbery, under common law is the face to face threat or use of force to obtain property directly from an individual or from their proximity with the intent to permanently deprive them of that property (Bower, 2014). The elements of robbery under common law are robbery actus reus and robbery mens rea (Samaha, 2013). The actus reus refers to the criminal act of use of force, or threat of force during the crime. However, the amount of force used has to be greater than the force necessary to take and carry away the person s property. For example, taking a woman s wallet from inside of her purse would not constitute a robbery since the amount of force used was enough to acquire it. Conversely, if the woman resisted and the person pushed or made a threat, then it would be considered robbery. The second element, mens rea, is the intent to take someone else s property and permanently depriving them of it. Additionally, unlike normal theft, robbery mens rea includes the additional intent to use force or threat of force to acquire it (Samaha, 2013). Similarly, other than creating degrees and types of robberies, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although there is not much that can be done about where the new housing tract is located, there are a few things you can do to try and get the cost of a home down. Your best options will relate directly to builder incentives. The following are a few ways you can do this. New home purchase rebates Just like the automotive industry, when new homes sales are slow, builders may offer rebates. Sometimes it s due to the general economy, but new home sales can be slow in a particular state or even a particular new tract of homes. These rebates can take different forms, but most of them are related to a reduced commission from the real estate agent. They agree to reduce their commission, and share it with the home buyer. The way this works varies. Sometimes it can be a reduction in closing costs, but it can also be a cash amount paid to you. In this case, it will be the real estate agent that pays you the rebate. ... • 13. The Importance Of The Heroic Tale Of Sundiata Throughout history, storytellers have used fantastic fables to entertain his or her audience. Filled with larger than life characters and amazing tales of heroism, on the surface these fables simply seem like mass entertainment much in the same way comic book heroes entertain us today on the silver screen. However, most of the time these epic, fantastic tales have a much deeper purpose for both the storyteller and the audience. While the stories aim to entertain, more importantly, the epic tales exist to hand down crucial histories from generation to generation. This is important to the culture in which the story takes place, and is a true observation for the story of Sundiata, the founding of the MaliEmpire, and the descendants of these Mali people. While on the surface, the story is a heroic tale of Sundiata s early life as he overcomes many obstacles, defeats mystical and magical foes, and finally emerges triumphant, it is really a tale designed to teach the audience the history of the Mali Empireand the values and culture of the Mali people. This is tremendously important to the Mali people back when the story was first told and is still important to them today. As a historical oral epic, the tale of Sundiata tells the reader the story of the creation of the Mali Empire. The events of the tale take place during the early 13th century and detail the early, difficult life of Sundiata up until his final victory over the evil Soros. After this victory, Sundiata ... For some of us, that means we can fuss over our garden gnomes and other colorful knick knacks and statues. Mankind has been adorning their gardens with small statuary ever since antiquity. Historically, many of these early figurines were religious in nature; but, over the centuries, these gardenprotectors were embraced by the whimsical world of folklore. Modern garden gnomes, as we think of them today, first became truly popular in the 1800s in Germany. By some accounts, these German Gartenzwerge (garden dwarfs) were commercially produced as early as 1841, and they were viewed as happy, helpful creatures. Appearing in their ever stylish hats, these German figurines spread across Europe and eventually caught the eye of a well to do Englishman, Sir Charles Edmund Isham, 10th Baronet. In 1847, Isham purchased twenty one garden gnomes from Nuremberg and displayed them at his home, Lamport Hall, Northamptonshire. Only one gnome (named Lampy) survives to this very day, but he was a part of the original crew who has been credited with starting the garden gnome craze in the UK (and, later, the world). ... It exists when one applies for citizenship in a country other than the one they were born in. There has been much controversy shrouding the topic because some feel that restricting dual citizenship violates human rights, while others see it as something that would potentially dilute national identity. Having Singapore citizens with dual citizenship means that those people have divided allegiance to two countries. This leads to another question. Do the people with dual citizenship see themselves as Singaporeans or Americans (for example)? What happens if Singapore faces a war? Who is to say that they will remain steadfast and defend Singapore? They might just flee to their second home . Then does this not serve as a disadvantage to citizens who were born and raised in Singapore? Albeit unlikely to happen, the safety that we experience in Singapore must not be taken for granted. Singapore needs unwavering citizens who will not abandon it when times get tough. It gives other countries the excuse to bully and look down upon Singapore. Another issue that arises which is also related to Singapore s defense is the requirement for males with dual citizenship to serve National Service (NS). At the end of the novel, star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet take their own lives. What drew them to this, who got them in this position, is a hard question. My claim is that it was Juliet s father Lord Capulet who should be blamed. He pressures Juliet, he s hasty and sporadic, and is already half of the problem in the beginning. Lord Capulet isn t the best father. He pressures a forced marriage on Juliet, when she is already married to Romeo. When she protests he throws a tantrum and yells at Juliet. Also, as seen in paragraph 2, he throws a tantrum when he doesn t get what he wants. However, I do have a counter argument. Who killed Romeo and Juliet is a grey area. It is a common theory that it was both of the teens fault. Aristotle concluded more than 2,300 years ago that the young are heated by Nature as drunken men by wine. (Beautiful Brains, Dobbs). Them dying could be easily avoidable if they didn t kill themselves. On top of the 2 reasons I have presented, I have another. He was already the problem when the book started. Gay marriage has been a topic of controversy ever since the 1970 s. May of 1970 to be exact. Around This time two men named Richard John Jack Baker and James Michael McConnell in Minnesota applied to Hennepin County District Court clerk Gerald Nelson for a marriagelicense. They were denied because they both were men. This issue of two people of the same sex getting married is still a topic of debate to a lot of people even after the U.S. Supreme court made gay marriage legal in all 50 states in 20151. The Catholic Church teaches to treat homosexuals with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. That every act of hate, violence, and persecution toward them is condemned. The Church doesn t view homosexuals no poorly than they do everyone else but it is their views on marriage that are in question. They believe that all sexual activity outside of marriage as a sin and an immoral act. So, if we restrict marriage from homosexuals then if they are in a sexual relationship with another they are in turn an immoral person. Therefore, the Catholic Church should view gay marriage the same as heterosexual marriage, with reverence and sanctity. The theme of Remote Controlis also very important, and not just a topic for a good poem but a real problem in society too. Reset you is one of the strongest lines in the poem, informing the woman to reset her life and take back control. Zakon then tells the woman to push play , and start her life anew. The theme is very important in a poem, because it is the implicit or recurrent idea throughout the writing. The theme in Remote Control is how not only the man in the poem controls the woman s life, but how it happens all over the world everyday. Many women suffer day in and day out, whether it is because they are afraid of what will happen if they do not let their man control them, or if it is because they are too insecure to change. When men try to control women, they are demonstrating their own weakness in this regard. In other words, the implicit assumption is that men are too weak to control themselves. When a man cannot control himself, he turns to other options, most of the time the female in his relationship. In conclusion, almost no poem is complete without the use of symbolism. Urban Poverty In Planet Of Slums By Mike Davis In the passage, Planet of Slums by Mike Davis, the author has a dystopic view on urbanization and argues that urban poverty is increasing and has a negative impact on the world. His dystopic vision can be written off as a society with undesirable traits such as poverty, oppression, and overcrowding. Davis s vision on these people s lifestyle can be compared and contrasted with Robert Neuwirth s view of this lifestyle in his passage, Shadow Cities and the film Sleep Dealer by Alex Rivera. The author Mike Davis has done countless research on the topic of urban poverty. In his studies he collects and receives his information from other sources. Perhaps this is the reason why he has a negative view on slums. This is illustrated in his piece Planet of Slums as he discusses the politics, urban development, and methods within the slums population. According to Davis, slums and urban poverty have and will continue to significantly increase. While doing so, the gap in exclusion and inequality will grow. As a result, this will weaken urban elites in their work to utilize cities as engines of growth. Slums and slum population are classified as those who are living below the poverty lines, all while, being associated with overcrowding, having poor or informal housing, inadequate access to safe water and sanitation, and insecurity of tenure. Normative Ethical Relativism The objective of this essay is to provide reasons as to why normative ethical relativism provides an unattractive view on the nature of morality and why it should be rejected. In order to see this negative relationship, this essay will identify three features of this theory that makes it problematic. The first problematic feature of normative ethical relativism is based on the claim that moral principles cannot be validated on a universal level. This means that different cultures should be free to establish their own principles and basic values as a foundation for morality. As a result, correct moral principles are based on the views of the majority or predominant population. Therefore it would be wrong for any minority group to criticise against the moral views held by the majority population in a society at any given time because the minority will always be wrong in virtue by default because they hold the minority view. It is easy to see why this feature is problematic. This feature in practice leads to inequality and unfairness towards the people within a society. This may result in minorities being faced with a great danger of being oppressed by the majority. An example of this is Nazi Germany and the holocaust. This feature is contradictory with the main message behind normative ethical relativism in terms promoting equality among all. Because minority criticism against the views of the majority does happen, this feature of normative ethical relativism is criticized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Medicine And Placebos Pills Treat Migraine Headaches Placebos are used as a form of treatment for patients; placebos offer no medication but seem to relieve patents of the pain and symptoms they have (Seymour, 2011). Medication has down sides, such as creating drug dependencies and increased tolerance for the drug resulting in a decrease in the amount of success that drug has to treat the pain. Placebos offer a medicine free treatment to help patients deal with pain. Many studies have been done to examine the difference between medicine and placebos pills to treat migraineheadaches. Placebos have been found to have similar pain relieving effects to medicine, without the harmful risks the medication has (Seymour, 2011). Title Placebos were first introduced into the medical world in the late 18th century (Seymour, 2011). Placebos are used as a therapeutic procedure that affects a patient and removes symptoms of an illness or pain by giving them a sham pill with no actual medication in it (Seymour, 2011). A placebo effect is therefore a change in the patient s symptoms or illness after a placebo is given (Seymour, 2011). A nocebo on the other hand, is the negative equivalent of the placebo effect; when a patient expects a negative outcome of a treatment he or she will experience the undesirable outcome that was expected (Benedetti, Durando, Vighetti, 2014). Both placebo and nocebo effects can be provoked by observing others, which causes the release of several neurotransmitters, such as opioid, endocannabinoids and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Teaching Bilingual Students At The Elementary School Level Based on my experience, the findings of this study are not surprising. Science has become a major challenge for bilingual students at the elementary school level particularly those in fifth grade who are scheduled to take the Science STAAR (in the past the TAKS) for the first time. In the schools I taught, many students struggled with the Spanish version of the test. Teachers and administrators claim that the reason for the students failure is the vocabulary. According to them, the Spanish version contains science terms that are too sophisticated which make this test harder than the English version. Coming from a science background and having received science educationin both Spanish and English I found this intriguing. Soon I discovered that many teachers lack of basic science skills and knowledge. Consequently, they rely on the resources provided by the district, which were in occasions erroneous. In addition, most bilingual teachers in these schools did not have teaching degrees or significant teaching experience. In situations like this the availability of professional development for science bilingual teachers becomes of critical importance. However, most training is designed for monolingual English speaking students. Bilingual educators are left with the task of adapting materials in order to satisfy the needs of their students. This attempt often causes translated materials to be inaccurate and inconsistent with the original materials. Another factor that I noticed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the archaeological record, it shows that women were the main contributors to child care in the past societies. From a biological perspective, women are pregnant for nine months and during that time they are weak and fragile. This leads for the women to stay back and take care of the children. Body image dominates media everywhere you look, every time you turn your head we are pestered with beautiful women and perfect figures. The overwhelming urge for women to have a body just like the perfect models and idols we see plastered in media has spilled over into our children. Despite the outer shell of innocence, the psychological and sociological effects of Disney figures misrepresent the ideal body image as distorted to perfection and airbrushed to unrealistic; the iconic body image warping an adolescent mind into aiming for unobtainable goals. Although advances on race and gender through becoming more culturally rounded and balancing the demands of the public Disney fails in forwarding their portrayal of accurate body image. Princesses along with other female protagonists are displayed with size double zero waists, skinny limbs, and even small feet to the point where bone structure is nonexistent. This unnatural, body size presented in Disney s animated characters however, is what society calls for and demands. The thin ideal has existed in American culture since the 1960s, and it is still increasingly popular today in numerous forms of media; forty years later its impact has been so devastating it has become an expected norm. The whole film except the first few minutes of it, takes place in a jury room without air conditioning. It demonstrates how steamy and tense things can get between jurors when it comes to deliberating a case. It is apparent that the theme of this film is justice. Why should this 18 year old boywho could possibly be innocent, receive the death penalty when he still has a whole life ahead of him? Their opinions are expressed and all evidence is presented in order to conclude the verdictof the boy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was when the film becomes interesting. The argument of the film is the jurors deliberating whether the boy is guilty. After juror number 8 stated the boy could be innocent, the other jurors were stubborn and kept insisting to send the boy to the chair. The fact that all the other jurors assumed that the boy was guilty was quite unfair. This was when the major conflict arose in the film, when all but one juror disagreed with the punishment which then forced them to discuss the case. Since juror number 8 didn t agree with the rest of the jurors, he had to support his claim with the evidence that was presented. He talked about the evidence that was collected from the crime. Some of the evidence is strong and makes sense. Juror number 8 made several good points and one of them was that it was not possible for the old man to have heard the yell. The juror claimed that the old man had poor hearing and there was a train that passed by the house around the same time the killing occurred. Therefore, how was it possible for the yell to have been heard? This evidence relates to the rest of the evidence collected. The old man was not a good witness to the case and so the juror had to continue to state the rest of the evidence in order to convince the other men that the boy was not guilty. • 45. Response To The Bible This is how I would respond to my friend in option one: The Bible is indeed made up of many different stories that are compiled in the sixty six books of the Bible, but they all tell one overarching story; God s story. All the stories of the Bible, while not seeming to fit together at first glance, flow together to create the story of God. From the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelation, God is there, and He reveals Himself and His plan for us through the different stories (Everyday Bible Study, pg. 3 4). The Old Testament tells us the history of humans and why we need a Savior and also points to the coming of that Savior, Jesus, whose life is recorded in the gospels of the New Testament. Because the Bible is God s story and not ours, if we begin reading the Bible expecting it to lay out specific and easily followed guidelines for our lives, we miss the point of the Bible in the first place. Yes, the Bible can help us navigate through our daily lives, but it s not a road map that helps us choose the best path to take, its purpose is to show us what God s plan for us is ... The last lines of the poem which is in stanza five states, I am a tornado child. When the spirit takes my head, I hurtle into the vacuum of white sheets billowing and paint a swirl of color, treaked with my many songs (23 26). According to the text, stanza five just outlines the seemingly purposeless nature of Rosalie s life. The speaker becomes creative by adding the use of colors to describe the tone and Rosalie s feeling throughout the poem. The speaker uses white to describe Rosalie life as a blank canvas and the swirl of color shows how she is open to various cultures, which are greatly influenced by Dawes because he is exposed to numerous cultures. Without understanding one of these, a person cannot fully grasp Christianity. The Trinity is a theory that attempts to explain exactly what is Jesus to God and God to the Holy Spirit. Having said that, it begs the question, what is the explanation given by the Trinity? The Trinity is a representation of the holy or godly figures in Christianity; The Father , Jesus The Son , and the Holy Spirit. (Christian Beliefs PowerPoint). Specifically, it states that The Father , Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all God (Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity). Bart states in his YouTube video, Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity, that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all equal in power because they are all embodiments of God himself but, he reiterates that, there is still only one God. While it gives our president time to make good decisions, and time to actually change things in our country, if the president has bad ratings, there is nothing we can do about it until his term is up. There is only one circumstance when a president can be voted out of office before his term is up, and that is called impeachment. This can happen when the president has committed acts treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors, thus giving the power to the house of representatives to impeach him, and the senate the power to remove him for office, given a two thirds vote to convict. By taking on community leadership roles, individuals give back to the community and gain valuable experience that will serve them well in the workplace. In my own experience, I led the Chantilly Youth Association Pee Wee Soccer program for three years. In this capacity, I created schedules, reserved fields and gyms, ordered uniforms, arranged for the training of officials, collected money, and created teams for over 500 young children. I had a vision for the program and helped it grow. While Pee Wee Soccer is not rooted in a faith filled tradition, faith based leadership skills apply. Running such a large program affords the opportunity to teach as Jesus did, at least with respect to community and service, and gain valuable insight into organizational behavior. Perhaps the most essential lesson learned is that to be successful, it is important to consider the needs of everyone involved, and not merely the needs of a few. Catholic School Leadership The skills gained through Pee Wee Soccer prepared me well for the leadership roles I undertook in my early years as a Catholic school teacher. Stump Narrative As I stood there exhausted, holding a blank stare with my arms to my sides and the sound of mumbling in the background, I only heard three words of the entire training brief my supervisor gave us, time for chow! I immediately snapped back to reality and walked in the same direction as my teammates. As I walked, I looked ahead of the group for the best place to get out of the 103 degree hot Texas sun. I noticed a tree and a stump that would be great to rest my back on and it had plenty of shade. When I arrived at the stump, I set my rifledown and quickly took off my training gear that felt like an extra body hanging on my shoulders. At the same moment that I felt like I could take a break from the training day and let my guard down, I heard... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just like me, most of the other deployed troops had a weird obsession with wanting to eat at a fast food restaurant again. After spending over 12 hours flying from the Middle East back to America, we finally landed at Dallas International Airport. This was the first time we were able to eat real American food in what felt like a lifetime. As we began to get off the plane, emotions ran high. We finally made it! The sense of joy was almost too hard to handle. All 150 of us dispersed around the airport looking for the restaurant we wanted. I went off by myself and walked around aimlessly with a shock and awe feeling. I felt like a foreigner in my own country. There were so many choices that I could not make up my mind. I went from restaurant to restaurant looking at all the menus. I was overwhelmed by all the choices and began to get flustered. As I started to give up on finding a spot due to an uncontrollable anxiety, I heard the same trainee that tossed the MRE to me yell Taylor! I looked over and he was sitting with some other troops at a table at TGI Fridays. I went over and sat down with them with a sense of relief. I ordered a medium rare bacon double cheeseburger with fries. When the food arrived at our table, the smell of the bacon on top of two cheesy beef patties was heavenly. I was so excited that I ... • 55. An Analysis Of Sherman s Unorthodox Tactics Of The Civil War Aaron Ganss Dr. Lisa Arter ENGL 2010: Toulmin Argument 20 July 2015 General Sherman s Unorthodox Tactics that Ended the Civil War Scorched farms, slaughtered livestock, uprooted railway lines and cities set on fire was not typical battle strategy previously seen on American soil. However, the Civil War was dragging on and General William Tecumseh Shermanwas determined to finally end the fighting. The circumstances that initiated the war created a figurative and literal divide unlike America had ever seen. The American Civil Wartook heavy tolls on the Union and Confederate States of America. Desperate to end the bloodshed, President Abraham Lincoln trusted Ulysses S. Grant control of the Army and Grant authorized Sherman the freedom to do whatever necessary to bring conclusion to the conflict (Davis 22). In the military mind of Sherman, the end justified the means and this belief is well documented throughout his 1864 and 1865 campaign through Georgia, concluding in Goldsboro, North Carolina (Phillips 11). Sherman despised war and the fact that America had entered into a civil war in the first place. However, Sherman knew the conflict was unavoidable (Meiers 26). He made the decision to follow his allegiance to the Union and eventually became the general to lead the Armies of the Cumberland, the Ohio, and the Tennessee into the heart of Georgia (Moody 22). During this event the wrath of general Sherman would be implanted in the South s memories. By the use of unorthodox ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Innocence In The Quiet American Innocence is blindness. To be innocent is to be unaware of important parts of a situation. When someone is innocent to a problematic situation or crisis, they do not have enough knowledge to form an opinion that could help find a solution. As a result, that person becomes problematic if they attempt to help find a solution. People are always biased to the knowledge they have, whether it is true or false, a lot or a little. When innocent people look to solve a problem, they are biased to their innocence, which often causes more harm than good. In The Quiet American, by Graham Greene, Alden Pyle is an innocent, and therefore problematic, character. The novel is set in 1950s Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Pyle is representative of the American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is necessary to justify the means of achieving their goal. Because they believe that it is their duty to stop the communist forces in Vietnam, they believe that it is okay to take any actions necessary to do so. The destruction is justified because they believe that they are helping the Vietnamese people, even though the number of deaths does not determine who wins the war. They cause excess damage that outweighs the good they are doing. They are trying to help Vietnam, but at the same time, they cannot recognize the destruction they are bringing to the nation. They believe that they are not causing any serious harm because they are different in their cause. That is what American exceptionalism encompasses. Pyle and those like him want to be the ones who save Vietnam: the heroes. They choose to ignore the costs in the hopes that they will benefit the nation in the end. As long as their forces eliminate communism and all traces of it, they will believe that have succeeded, despite the harm they caused along the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. How do William Blake and William Wordsworth respond to... How do William Blake and William Wordsworth respond to nature in their poetry? The Romantic Era was an age, which opened during the Industrial (1800 1900) and French Revolution (1789). These ages affected the romantic poets greatly by disrupting and polluting nature. Before the Industrial Revolution, William Blake wrote about Songs of Innocence. He also wrote Songs of Experience but after the Industrial Revolution. William Wordsworth, on the other hand, continued on an optimistic route and ignored the Industrial Revolution in his poems. He instead wrote about nature only and its beauty. Previous Augustan poets were more controlled and rule governed. They were also concerned with order. In Blake s London , he describes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wordsworth talks about the mind being free and relaxed, Ne er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep! The adjective deep shows how immense the tranquility is. It also shows how the poem is personal, Ne er saw I. He sets the scene in the morning, creating a feeling of calmness and peace, The beauty of the morning; silent, bare. The noun beauty implies splendor and magnificence, showing the opposite of what Blake writes about London . The adjective silent is also the opposite of what Blake writes in London , How the youthful Harlot s curse . Wordsworth mentions the daffodils as people, When all at once I saw a crowd. Similarly, he uses personification, crowd , to imply that everyone is unified in nature. He uses color in his poem to indicate a deeper meaning, A host, of golden daffodils. The adjective golden illustrates purity as well, therefore connecting it to innocence. The noun host has a slight religious tone, which also relates to purity. The Daffodils has eight syllables in each line. Blake uses colour to expand the meaning of the sentence, Come and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
