Social Penetration
Why do some relationships progress quickly more than others? In order to understand this,
relationship must be defined. According to Merriam Webster s Dictionary, A relationship is a type
of connection existing between people that have a relation or dealing with each other. It is through
the process of communication, which is the process where human beings transmit ideas, information,
and attitudes to one another, that our relationships are forged. Without communication there would
be no relationships involved with people. Many communication scholars have tried to study on how
these relationships develop. Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor had developed a theory, social
penetration, to explain how relationships are established and... Show more content on

With that being said, we move towards the affective exchange where a great deal of open
exchange occurs. Claire finally admits that she is a virgin. Towards the movie the group moves
towards affective exchange when they talk about their attitudes towards their parents. They all
have something in common. They all dislike certain aspects of their parents. They were showing
a form of self disclosure, which involves communication about self that can deepen relationships,
increase self acceptance, and can [help] discover yourself more deeply and in turn you can solve
more problems (Lindsley В¶2); and reciprocity, which is when one person reveals something
about him or herself, the other person tend to reply with similar information (Miller 169).
Reciprocity is seen as a way to establish trust, and once trust is established there is little concern
since unilateral disclosure carries little risk (Porter В¶25 ). Finally at the end of the movie, they
move to stable exchange where in the final scene Claire kisses John and Andrew kisses Allison.
The group of five students, who at first did not get along have become close friends in the end
enriched with communication, candidness [and] emotion (Brown 89)
In most cases people desire to have the stable exchange, which is the final stage of the theory. In
order to obtain the final stage people as we seen in The Breakfast Club one must learn to break
down the barriers that they have built up

Investment Strategy Linear Programming Essay
INVESTMENT STRATEGY REPORT Submitted to J. D. Williams, Inc. By Mizar Gonzalez
Industrial Engineering Department Southern Polytechnic State university 404 519 2792 February
20, 2008 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report is our recommendation for an optimal investment
strategy that would allow J. D. Williams, Inc. to maximize the annual yield of an investment of
$800,000 in a diversified portfolio of funds. To find the investment that would result in the greatest
annual yield we have formulated a linear program that takes into account the requirements for the
client of J. D. Williams, Inc. The requirements for the investment portfolio can be found on the
section titled Problem Description The greatest annual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The client will realize an annual yield on the $800,000 investment of $94,133.33 if it is allocated
in the following manner. The amount to be invested in the growth fund must be $ 248,889. The
income fund must have an investment of $ 160,000 and the money market fund must have an
investment of $ 391, 112. The solution is not surprising given the requirements for the
investments. The amount invested in the growth fund yields the greatest revenue but has to be
less than 50% of the total investment and is also limited by its high risk index. The amount is
greatest when invested in the money market fund because it balances the greater risk the other
funds are subjected to. Problem answers If the client s risk index was increased to.055 the
investment would be affected in the following manner. The optimal solution becomes $ 98, 800
and the funds would be allocated in the following manner: Growth fund $ 293, 334, Income fund
$ 160, 000, and Money Market fund $ 346, 667. If the original problem is consulted and the
annual yield of growth fund is downgraded to 16% the optimal solution would change to $92, 934
with the funds invested in the following manner. Growth fund $ 293, 334, Income fund $ 160, 000,
and Money Market fund $ 346, 667. The yield of the growth fund still justifies having a large
amount of the portfolio

Chapter 1
The statement applies an everyday situation to the reader and give the reader what to apply from
the information they were given. Everyday situation was about giving the salesclerk your credit

had to think about someone who is reliable to use my credit card information. The author attacked
us with a lot of information we might not have understood in order to carefully apply the word they

I noticed a complete change in paragraphs between the draft and final. Paper 2 was completely
different from paper one because Discussion Board started the process for the paper. Discussion
Board three was to input your idea on how to do paper two. It was somewhat of an outline to the
paper. On paper one, I didn t place any thought into the paper. I just went with the flow. On paper
two, I used the discussion as a reference to what to write in the paper. I took more time in editing
the paper two. What I learned that is going to help me created better paper is started my paper with
an outline.
Processes
Thinking back to the beginning of the semester, I improved in fixing my mistakes in my writing.
Whenever I review and edit my drafts, I would usually overlook most mistakes because I would
just read my draft but not look at the mistakes I commit. In my paper one draft, Opening, social
mind bugs are a trait human have developed to become social: human is social animals. In my
paper, one final, Opening, social mind bugs are traits humans have developed to become social:
humans are social animals. In this first paper, I only recognized little mistakes that stood out in
my final paper. I already noticed that I can remove the word opening, and I could have used a
semicolon instead of a colon. I improved on looking for grammar mistakes. I started using a trick
my tutor recommended for me to use when I am editing my paper. I should read my draft slower,
so I

Wilfred Owen Techniques
Wilfred Owens war poetry
Good morning/afternoon teacher and peers,
Wilfred Owen was born in 1893 in Oswestry (United Kingdom). He wanted to be a poet from the
age of nineteen although most of his famous work is that which he wrote in his years spent in the
war where he died in 1918.
The preface to Owens poetry read:
This book is not about heroes. English poetry is not yet fit to speak of them.
Nor is it about deeds, or lands, nor anything about glory, honour, might, majesty, dominion, or
power, except war.
Above all I am not concerned with Poetry.
My subject is war, and the pity of war.
The poetry is in the pity.
To help tell you how Owen uses poetic techniques to achieve the objective stated above i will

Figurative language, as with most poetry, is readily used in much of Owens work because it helps
to create tone and communicate emotion effectively. Let s take a look at the poem mental cases
for a few examples of figurative language. Metaphor, misery swelters surely we have perished.
Simile, bearing teeth that leer like skulls teeth wicked? And also the poem disabled where we see
an example of personification in the line that speaks of how the town used to swing so gay.
Symbolism when it tells of the disabled man wearing his ghastly suit of gray, the gray symbolises
the dullness and shadows that now hang over him.
We often see the use of oxymoron s and paradox when something is being contrasted within a
poem such as a line from the poem dulce et decorum est, gas! GAS! Quick boys! An ecstasy of
fumbling which is used to describe the controlled panic which quickly increases as the men
fumble to put on thier gas masks. A good example of a paradox also from this poem is the line that
Owen writes the devil, sick of sick this is a paradox because the devil is a personification of sin,
this is just another way he portrays how horrific war is.
Rhetorical features are used by Wilfred Owen as it heightens the effect of the language, to create a
more persuasive effect.
Repetition is often used weather this be to make the poem sound monotonous when read such

Caliper Lab Report
In the lab, we hypothesized, To detect two points of touch, the calipers will be separated further
for the forearm than for the finger, showing that sensitivity on the forearm is smaller compared
to the sensitivity on the finger. To prove our hypothesis to be correct, all seven groups used a
ruler and a caliper. In each group, there was one participant who felt the sensation and responded
to the points. In my group, David Wang was the participant and Jacob Gonzalez was the
experimenter. I, on the other, served as the recorder of the group. We began the procedure with
David s forearm. First, Jacob measured the distance between the two points on the caliper using a
ruler. The distance between the two points ranged from zero to five centimeters... Show more

them on their fingers. At 0.5 cm, 14.29% of participants felt two points on their forearms while
94.29% felt them on their fingers. At 1.0 cm, 20% of participants felt two points on their forearms
while 97.14% felt them on their fingers. At 1.5 cm, 28.57% of participants felt two points on their
forearms while 100% felt them on their fingers. At 3.0 cm, 85.71% of participants felt two points
on their forearms while 100% felt them on their fingers. At 5.0 cm, 97.14% of participants felt two
points on their forearms while 100% felt them on their fingers. This proves our hypothesis to be
correct because the fingers of the participants were more sensitive than the forearm. The number of
times a participant felt two points in the fingers increased with the distance between the calipers.
This also happened when they were touched in the forearm, but the percentages were bigger in
terms of the fingers because the fingers contain more sensory neurons than the

What Is The Theme In All Summer In A Day
The short story All Summer in A Day, by Ray Bradbury is about the power of jealousy and
demonstrates if jealousy is not controlled, it will lead to regretful actions upon yourself. Jealousy
is a key topic in the story, and in my opinion, is the main topic of the story. Although, there are
other key topics in the story. All Summer in A Day is about a group of kids, who all their lives
have been living in a world, Venus, with no sunand the constant sound of rain. Then there is
Margot. Margot knows what it is like to have the sun shining down on her skin, she knows what
it is like to feel the warm embrace of the sky. For the first time in seven years the sun is going to
come out and everybody is extremely anxious and excited. The other kids are... Show more content

Going back to the last paragraph, I wrote about the scene where the kids locked Margot in the
closet, and I described that scene as an act of betrayal. Even though that scene is an act of
betrayal, I think the scene is also an act of jealousy. If the kids were not jealous of Margot, they
would have never locked her in the closet. If the kids had decided to just be jealous and not take
action, Margot would have still gotten to see the sun. After the kids locked Margot in the closet
the kids got to go outside and enjoy the sun, the kids remembered about Margot. The rain had
started up again, all the kids were gloomy and sad. But there was an incredible amount of regret
and guilt filling up the kids. If the kids had never decided to take action, they would have never
had to deal with the guilt and

better camera angles. NASCAR has put cameras in the cars with drivers. People want the
experience of being there. Scholars studying history are no exception. Our class on Religion and
Civil Rights has brought me closer to towards a firsthand experience of the Civil Rights
Movement.
One of the sort comings of many history classes is that events or phenomena are usually
oversimplified. When an event is described in a lecture, the person giving the lecture usually
does not take the time to describe an example of the event. For example, with the Civil ... Show

The government collects basic information on a person and then makes sure they
understand how a government functions before they can vote. This would ideally mean that you
would have well educated and informed voters who are easy contact. Having read about Mrs.
Hamer s experience trying to register to vote makes the situation seems, for a lack of a better
term, less black and white. The system doesn t scream corruption. It makes it easy for moderates
to exist. Only people that put some thought into what was going on or went to register to vote
and was denied would start to see the problems that existed and the real motives behind the
system. Often disenfranchisement is presented as this giant splinter in a people s eyes. It is
portrayed on something that was at the forefront all the time and people just lived with the fact
that the system was blatantly corrupt. This course has taught me more and more that inequity is a
wolf that walks around in sheep s clothing.
Many people are quick to over glorify Martin Luther King Jr. They will make him sound

The first and second sources of infection are most common and very important we need to know.
Firstly, the skin site and the catheter hub may contaminate by the patient s endogenous skin flora
and by exogenous flora which on health care workers hands. The organisms may infect blood
stream through the skin insertion site or migrate along the external surface of the catheter and
migrate along the internal lumen of the catheter via the hub. The most common organisms found in
CLABSIs are including coagulase negative staphylococci, staphylococcus aureus, enterococci and
Candida.
Furthermore, the other important pathogenic determinants of CLABSI are the material of which
the device is made, the host factors consisting of protein adhesions such as fibrin and fibronectin
which form a sheath around the catheter and the intrinsic virulence factors of the infecting
organism, including the extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) produced by the adherent
organisms. Catheters made of surface irregularities materials are especially vulnerable to microbial
colonization and subsequent infection. This association has led to emphasis on preventing catheter
related thrombus as an additional mechanism for reducing CLABSIs.

The Most Important Part Of Prescribing An Exercise Program
Exercise Assessment The most important part of prescribing an exercise program is the proper
assessment of the client to ensure they are physically, mentally, and healthy enough to engage in
a certain type of program. With any female client 55 years of age or older, risk for cardiovascular
disease (CVD) should always be assessed. This will help determine how to properly proceed
with the development of an exercise program. According to the ACSM s Guidelines for Exercise
Testing and Prescription, reviewing health and medical history is the first step in assessing risk
for CVD (American College of Sports Medicine, 2014). If there is a known disease this puts a

A normal BMI range is 18.5 24.9; less than 18.5 is underweight; 25 29.9 is overweight; and
greater than or equal to 30 is considered obese. These values are important to remember and
keeping in mind those with a low BMI (less than 18.5) greatly increases their risk for fractures in
the pelvis and ribs (Compston et al., 2014) .
After assessing an individual s health status and risk for CVD, as well as gathering anthropometric
data, getting more specific with evaluating specific risks related to osteoporosis would be the next
step. With individuals who have osteoporosis, assessing their risk for falls and fractures are two
very important objectives to developing an exercise prescription. A low BMI may tell you that
an individual is at an increased risk but there is much more that should be considered in this
assessment process. Knowing the history of a client is important and understanding that with
any type of previous fracture will also automatically increase the individual s risk for reoccurring
fractures. Also, by simply looking at someone s standing stance can be an indicator as well, if their
stance is narrower there is a better chance of losing balance and if the stance is wider the person
will be more stable. I one year study observing the fall predictions in 225 female and 45 male
elderly individuals with an average age of 73 years showed that the

Chris Hedges What Is Artifice
What is artifice? And why is it known as the most essential skill by Chris Hedges from an
excerpt from Empire of Illusion. Artifice is a clever trick to deceive others like what many
politicians used going from the past until nowadays. Because the Americans love to have good
reputation, most politicians that have the ability to do so as Chris Hedges s argues the most
essential skill...is atifice proves to be true. To begin with, Hedges states that politicians
nowadays do not need to have the abilities to make a country to be successful; however, they
only need to have the ability to build a good reputation for the people even if it is a fake one like
how Hedges states, political leaders who use the tools of mass propaganda ...no longer need to be
competent, sincere, or honest. Similar to the 2016 presidential election, Donald J. Trump won the
election was not because he was great; however, he won because he was able to use various
propagrandas and mass medias to build him in front of the American people. In addition, back in

Techniques Used For Salvage A Performance Or Interaction...
E.)Face saving behavior/pg.113: techniques used to salvage a performance or interaction that is
going sour. In the film about what happened in the asbestos disaster in Libby, Montana gives us a
major display of face saving behavior that is almost sickening to watch. We see this behavior
come out in the tapes from the court case in which the owner of W. R. Grace was being questioned
on the events that had transpired in the years in which the plant in Libby was active. The
prosecutors begin to question him routinely on what he knew about everything. They were trying to
figure out if he knew what he was doing to his workers in exposing them to such conditions, or if he
genuinely knew nothing about the harmful effects of exposure to asbestos. This is where we see the
face saving behavior come out. Throughout being questioned he was very short and almost caught
off guard with most of the question being asked. He begins playing dumb and attempting to make
it look like he knew nothing about the harmful effects in an attempt to save face on the issue to
avoid being held accountable for his actions in the company. He was asked whether or not he knew
anything about the harmful effects of asbestos exposure to which he said he knew nothing about.

showing he did receive studies in which the exposure to asbestos was extremely harmful to the
health of his workers. Throughout the interview he

The Contributions And Aspects Of The Persian Empire
Extending from Northeastern Africa to Central Asia, the Achaemenid Empire or the Persian
Empire was very vast. Great leaders led the empire from 500 B.C to 300 B.C and worked together
to build their empire and conquer other civilizations. As the land expanded, the geography of the
Persian Empire changed, the government adopted new methods, and the religion of zoroastrianism
helped maintain order throughout the empire forming one of the greatest empires to ever exist. The
empire was mainly deserts with far away waters, run by a bureaucracy and monarch government,
and followed the Zoroastrian religion. These three features helped form the Persian Empire grow
and conquer making them the most valued aspects of the civilization.
The Persian Empire covered Southwest Asia, Northeast Africa, and extended over 2000 miles
from the Black to the Arabian Sea. The empire was mainly deserts, mountains, and large waters
(Emberling). They relied on the surrounding bodies of water to provide their deserts with a water
supply but the only water source was thousands of miles away. The Persian Empire was like a
crossroad between the Indian and Mediterranean Empires. Being at this location Persians were able
to learn about other civilizations, religions, cultures, and traditions through trading (Bentley 168
170). The geography around the Empire allowed easy trading and the spread of diversity between
the empires.

Reasons And Results Of The Civil War
Reasons and Results of the Civil War
The Civil War was a very critical event in American History. It started by many disagreements
between the North and the South. For blacks as for other Americans, the Civil War was a strong
voice preaching the needs for devotion and allegiance to form a justified nation. After the war ended
there were many results that would forever linger throughout America and the world. The South
was known as the Confederate States of America, seceded from the North, which was known as the
Union. The seceding of the South was because of four decades of intense sectional differences and
conflicts between both South and North. The secession of the Southern states was not an instinctive
act. Situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand the South wanted to withhold all undetermined powers to the individual states
and to withhold all these projects. The predominant issue why the South seceded was the
slavery issue. The South wanted and called for slavery and would do anything they could to
keep it. Cold heartedly the slaves were items and if taken away would put a huge dent in
investments towards Southerners. The value to the slaveholding planter class was
immeasurable. Northerners demanded for collective bargaining to develop goals such as free
education, better salaries and working conditions for workers, and better rights for woman.
Northerners said that slavery revoked the rights of a human to be a free person. The subject of
slavery left, and the North headed for war and eventually defeated the South in the Civil War.
Without this war I sorely would have to say that we could have been in a much more segregated
society than we already are. This war was needed in order to produce a stronger and more stable
country for everyone.
Slavery was abolished in the Union during Abraham Lincoln s presidency. Lincoln called it
Emancipation Proclamation. This movement was definitely a day of awakening for America as a
whole, which finally realized what free meant. All the Southern states would soon rejoin the Union.

Essay about A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah
Hope enables people to move on by providing the thought that maybe tomorrow s events will be
better than today s. Hope is a theme that remains constant in every part of A Long Way Gone by
Ishmael Beah. Ishmael begins the novel optimistic, believing he will find his family again. This
optimism is later lost when Ishmael is recruited by the army to fight against the rebels, causing
him to become addicted to drugs and the thrill of killing. Three years after his recruitment, Ishmael
is rescued by UNICEF a group dedicated to rehabilitating child soldiers. During his rehabilitation,
Ishmael discovers hope once more by relearning how to trust, love, and have the will to survive.

The more people Ishmael loses, the less he has to fight for the less he has to hope for. Upon
finding his family s ashes, Ishmael is enraged not hopeless. Ishmael s hope is alive, but
shrinking as Gasemu indicates when he says, Your forehead used to glow naturally when you
were just a child ... We thought it was because you were happy all the time. Your mother said
you even smiled when you slept. But when you started your troublesomeness and were angry,
your forehead glowed even more...And here you are, it isn t shining anymore, (Beah 92).
Ishmael s forehead did not glow because he was mad or sad or embarrassed or happy. Ishmael s
forehead glowed because he was passionate and hopeful. The angrier he got when he was
younger, the more his forehead glowed seeing as he believed in his anger. Despite the fact that
his hope shrank when he was faced with the death of his family, the threat of the rebels, and the
fear of dying, these events did not destroy Ishmael s hope Ismael s hope begins its descent to
nothingness when he becomes a child soldier and, consequently, a drug addict. When Ishmael no
longer mourns the death of human life, his hope is lost. When Ishmael cannot care less if he lives
or dies, his hope is lost. When he would rather continue killing as

Juvenile Life Without Parole Punishment
Is Juvenile Life Without Parole an acceptable punishment for minors?
As of 2016, 7 states have outright banned Juvenile Life Without Parole, while the rest of the 43
states have laws that allow for it. In recent rulings, this sentencing was seen as unconstitutional in
regards to non homicidal offenses and a clear violation of the 8th amendment, protecting a citizen
from cruel and unusual punishment, referring to homicidal crimes. It was ruled that this
punishment should not be used unless the minor showed clear signs of irreparable corruption.
Studies have shown that juveniles are incapable of processing thoughts the same way adults do
because their brains are fully developed yet, therefore making them more likely to act purely on
impulse, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only thing getting rid of juvenile life without parole would do, is allow an offender s case
to reviewed after a period of time, while also taking into consideration the different
circumstances and characteristics of each individual. The reason behind doing this would be to
ensure an inmate honestly needs to be serving the life sentence and it wasn t just something done
in adolescence idiocy, to show they ve matured. The suggested time frame is 10 to 15 years, if
good enough rehabilitation has not been showcased, then the individual is to remain in jail and
his/her case looked at again in another few years. While getting rid of juvenile life sentences
would be ideal in most cases, it is a necessary evil in terms of juvenile murders, rapists,

Murders in California
In the state of California, according to the CAL. PEN. CODE В§ 187, there are three types of
murders that involve having an intention to kill. They are as listed: premeditated murder, second
degree murder malice aforethought, and murder as a result of provocation. Murder as a result of
provocation is one who states a mental incapacity for either the time being, such as; blacking out, or
they had temporary loss of control of oneself and could not control it. This is only seen though
through murdercases for it to end up being a lesser charge. Second degree murder malice
aforethoughtis a non premeditated killing of a victim who cannot be fully proven there was the
full reasoning of the death. This is also known as having some sort of intent or recklessness.(Cal.
Penal Code В§ 187 [West 1996]). Premeditated murder is someone who sat down and thought the
murder through and went along with it, also known as first degree murder. So with all that
being said, in the scenario about a victim of a DUI accident who had religious beliefs about
blood transfusion died from bleeding out too much in California. The drunken driver was on
probation for a previous DUI he has received, and because of him driving drunk, caused him to be
impaired which caused him to crash into a parked car. Where then the victim was trapped and

blood transfusions due to her religious beliefs, so the doctors than

How Anglo American s Stakeholders Influence Carroll s...
Anglo American hired Cynthia Carroll as chief executive officer in hopes that she would
improve the overall performance of the company. Failing to meet their expectations would
almost guarantee her time at the company would be short lived. As CEO she must juggle the
interests of her stakeholders and make decisions that benefit the company. It can prove to be a
difficult task as certain stakeholders hold more power and have more influence when it comes to
making these decisions. In this paper I will be using stakeholder theory to discuss how Anglo
American s stakeholders influence Carroll s decision. Carroll is well aware of the dangers her
employees face, however she must decide whether it is in her best interest to increase safetyor not.
While increasing safety measures may make the company look better, it will come at great costs.
Although Cynthia Carroll is facing some opposition from it s the South African government and its
employees, when taking in the interests of all the company s stakeholders it is clear that she must
keep the mines up and running without taking more safety precautions. Maintaining a good
relationship between business and government is important to the success every company. In this
case, the South African government is important to think about because they alter how Anglo
American deals with its employees, however they do not have enough power to sway the decision
in their favor. The role of government is to Promote economic development and

The Ethical Philosophy Of The United States
Organizations have disparate marketing strategies when selecting choices that affect stakeholders.
Each approach touches the consumer and the Earth; it defines if the business is socially
accountable for humanity. When the ethical philosophy a company follows is for universal
individual rights regardless of the outcome, it is moral idealism. In contrast, when only considering
the greater good for the greatest number and appraising cost and the benefit of the choice it is
utilitarianism. If the benefits exceed the costs, then the behavior is ethical, if not, then the behavior
is considered unethical. This philosophy underlies the economic tenets of capitalism and is
embraced by many business executives (Kerin, Hartley, Rudelius, 2015,... Show more content on

Slave hands were what made this possible to complete and continue for too long. Not all slaves

An Analysis Of Bette Greene s The Summer Of My German Soldier
An action, a statement, one instant, has the power to alter your life and for young Patricia Bergen
in the young adult fiction novel, The Summer of my German Soldier by Bette Greene, many
different conflicts she had to face caused her to think very poorly of herself. Fortunately, with the
influence of one German soldier her whole mindset was revised. In the beginning of the novel ,
Patty Bergen portrays as an insecure, desperate, and a solitary young girl, but at the resolution of the
story we see Patty as a confident, mature, and hopeful young womanwho dreams of life away from
the hardships she faced.
When Patty Bergen is first introduced, we get an impression of Patty s life at home and her
parent s behavior towards her. Patty s father physically abuses her for misbehaving yet he beats
Patty mercilessly for foolish reasons in particular Mr. Bergen on page 106 and 107, God damn
you! He shouted at me. You ll obey me if it kills you! . In this quote, the harsh treatment Patty had
to experienced is displayed, the reader can notice that at the point, the quote occurs, Henry Bergen
assaults his daughter for a very foolish reason, explaining the reason why Patty is very
unaccompanied and how she is very determined to be adored by her parents. Not only is Patty
physically abused, but her mother verbally abuses her with insults and comments that cause Patty
to think she needs to revise her appearance. Mrs. Bergen s actions are demonstrated when Patty

Chapter 1 Resurgence
Bed bugs are back in a big way. In the past 15 years their numbers have exploded. In the past, bed
bugs ceased to be a problem in North America but they were still alive and well in other countries.
Today, their numbers are on the rise again due to travel and immigration from countries that never
managed to get rid of them like we did. The bed bug can now be found in every U.S. state.
Unfortunately, once you have bed bugs, you re going to need help.
Bed bugs are very tough and while they are not considered a major threat to your health, they can
cause infection because their bites are very itchy, and scratching can also leave scars. Some people

This means you can have many clusters throughout your home. If you see what looks like a pile
of seeds you probably have found adult bed bugs. Remember, the adults are the size of an apple
seed but the nymphs are even smaller.
You may also be able to spot fecal stains, egg cases, and shed skins in crevices and cracks around
your bed. Fecal stains look like small blood stains, either red or black, and these are a sure sign
that bed bugs have at the very least been in the area. Look for them on sheets, pillows, mattress and
box spring. Egg cases and shed skins are transparent but if the infestation is severe there will be
many of them that are easy to spot if you are looking.
If you find any evidence of bed bugs, continue your search in other areas of your bedroom such as
behind picture frames, on other furniture, and in your clothing. A severe infestation is also
accompanied by an unpleasant sweet musty odor. Continue checking systematically throughout
your entire household.
Chapter 4 Can I Treat Bed Bugs Myself?

be mixed, it appears bed bugs can be treated with time and diligence. Of course, exterminators tend
to suggest that eradication requires professional help and chemicals, but you may want to try these

Gene Expression And Its Engineering
Introduction Transformation is the process of allowing a cell to be able to accept a gene into
itself and allow the gene to become part of the cell s whole, thus changing its form and expressing
the gene s function. This process was first discovered by the British bacteriologist Frederick
Griffith, who was able to transform Streptococcus pneumoniae into a different strain of Strep. in
1928 (1928). This discovery was pivotal in the way we understand geneexpression and its
engineering. An example of genetic engineering using transformation that applies to everyday life
is the synthesizing of human insulin, which is a peptide hormone that helps to regulate the amount
of sugar that runs through the bloodstream. In the early 1900s, insulin from other animals was used
to treat diabetes, but human insulin is now able to be easily produced in bulk through genetic
engineering, and has largely replaced animal insulin for the treatment of diabetes. Insulin is made
from cells in the pancreas, and the extraction of insulin from animals used to require taking it
directly from the animal s pancreas glands. It was not until 1977 that synthetic human insulin was
genetically engineered by Arthur Riggs and Keiichi Itakura, and was achieved by the process of
transformation using Escherichia colias a host (1977), which allowed for the easy reproduction of
human insulin. Using this method, the production of human insulin became large scale, faster,
cheaper, and more accessible. A weakened

Beyond Petroleum ( Bp )
Beyond Petroleum (BP) formerly British Petroleum is a company that claims to be devoted to
finding new energy sources with little impact on the environment. Ferrell, Fraderich, and Ferrell,
explain in their Business Ethics textbook in 2012 that after several environmental tragedies in the
mid to late 2000 s, the company had to reassess their ethical standards and make changes to repair
their image and regain the confidence of their stakeholders. During this time, they began investing
in wind, solar, biofuels, and many other new types of energy sources. They also created programs to
educate citizens and stakeholders about environmental awareness. Most importantly, though, they
also tasked their ethicsand compliance team with creating a code of conduct policy and
communicate it out to every employee (p.343 345). Considering that BP is a worldwide
company, with employees of diverse languages and cultures, this was a very difficult task to
complete. Not only would it be a challenge to communicate the new code of conduct out to each
employee, but it was even more difficult for the company to enforce it. Because of the lack of
understanding on how to deal with ethical dilemmas, managers and employees within the
company did not complete proper risk assessment, leading to the worst oil spill in U.S. History.
This would come to be known as the Deepwater Horizon spill. BP commonly outsources
machinery and companies to complete certain tasks. They did in this case by hiring an oil rig

cuisine. A sauce is defined as a liquid or semi solid food served on or in the process of preparing
other foods. Sauces are created to accompany other foods and make them look, smell, and taste

they add flavor, moisture, aromas, and visual appeals to a finished dish. Today there are many

Bechameil had invented BГ©chamel Sauce when trying to come up with a new way of serving
and eating dried cod. Only royalty would use milk in their recopies. Originally it was made by
adding heavy cream to a thick veal veloute. However today it is usually made without veal stock.
It s also known as white sauce. It is a smooth, white sauce made from a white roux made with
flour, butter and boiled milk. It is usually found served with white meats, eggs, and vegetables. It
forms the basis of many other sauces. For example cheese, cream sauce, Mornay, nantua, and
Soubise are all made from BГ©chamel. BГ©chamel sauce is the easiest mother sauce to prepare.
A properly constructed BГ©chamel is creamy, and smooth with no lumps or graininess. You must
use a stainless steel pan to cook in, if an aluminum pan is used it can discolor the white sauce to a
murky grey. The flavor of the onion and clove used to season the sauce should be noticeable, but
not strong enough to overwhelm the milk base. In similarity the sauce should not taste like the

moved around before the black puck collided with it. To overcome this the red puck had to be held
in place and as mentioned before this would have provided and external force acting upon the puck.
The unevenness of the air hockey table also meant that there was a possibility of friction acting on
the pucks while they were moving. In the third collision with the Velcro another systematic error
occurred. When the two pucks collided and stuck together they did not continue straight, instead
they rotated. This is not linear momentum but rather it is angular momentum. This is reflected in
the results as the magnitude of the initial and final momentum of the system is equal, but the

Analysis Of Junot Diaz s The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao
In Junot DГaz s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, one crucial point in the novel is in its
questioning of the well known tension between writers and dictators. The narrator problematizes
the conventional idea that tyrants and scribblers are natural antagonists by claiming that both just
know competition when they see it.... Like, after all, recognizes like (DГaz, 97). The idea that
writers and dictators share similarities is contradictory by itself; but, DГaz plays with this idea
through his representation of the Historical Dominican Dictator Rafael Trujilloand characters such
as Yunior. While the ties between these two political and creative powers can be made clear
through observations of DГaz s story, the same connection can also be made apparent in other
works of art. Written by Hector Oesterheld and drawn by Francisco Lopez, The Eternaut is an
Argentina graphic novelthat revolves around the main character gaining the power of time travel
through his survival of an incoming alien invasion. A subject of various interpretations, The
Eternaut is often understood as a massive metaphor that criticizes the dictatorships and the political
strifes of its time. This paper will analyze the paradoxical connection between writers and dictators
introduced in Diaz s novel; as well as, compare its connection to the political interpretations made in
Oesterheld s The Eternaut.
To understand the comparable relationship between writers and totalitarian leaders in the book, it is

Gun Politics Of The United States
Gun Politics in the United States Despite the United States having the strictest law on guns, yet
mass shooting is still taking place in all states. Not only the country, but also the states have their
own laws, which lawmakers and other jurisdictions around the country have passed. All fifty states
have their own laws regarding guns. For example, Chicago has had a handgun ban for more than
thirty years, yet it is one of top states with shooting murder on rise. Although heaps of rules and
regulations are in place, they still aren t being enforced in a correct matter. Guns indeed are very
powerful firearms, which can cause extreme damage such as death. Even though, a plethora of
individuals have guns from safety purpose, but when the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second amendment was adopted in 1791 and added to the U.S. Constitution to defend
themselves from the enemies; Indian, Spanish and especially British who had tried to overturn the
activities of the Militia. Americans during that time looked for a written right that allowed them to
keep weapons to defend their families and their country. Even though many argue whether guns
should be banned or not in Washington D.C., but in 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court stated in a case
known as District of Columbia v. Heller . The ruling established that the Second Amendment to the
Constitution the right of the people to keep and bear arms means that individuals, and not just the
police and military, may own guns. This rule by the U.S. Supreme Court basically stated that it is
ones right to keep a gun at home for self defense, but didn t state anything about controlling guns.
According to Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the Gun Control Act of 1968 indicates that it is
banned to sell firearms to numerous categories of individuals, which includes people under eighteen
years old, those who have criminal records, the mentally incapacitated, illegal immigrants,
dishonorably discharged military personnel, and others. The website also states that in 1993, the
law was improved by the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, which basically stated that it
was important to have authorized background checks

My Choice Of Organization Is Leaning Toward The Floating...
My choice of organization is leaning towards the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical
Center. I have learned so much about the organization as a solid partner of Tufts NEMC during
one of my Strategic and Planning Management classes. Similar to Tufts NEMC, the Floating
Hospital for Children has a rich history as it was established in 1894 as a hospitalship, sailing in
BostonHarbor. Back then, people believed that fresh air was the most favorable alternative in
treating ailing children. It has continued to provide medical care to sick children while cruising
Boston Harbor for the next three decades. It has then upgraded its facilities and expanded
amenities to having an inpatient service and onboard research facility. However, at some point in
the spring of 1927, the floating hospital was ruined by fire. As luck would have it, none had been
on board. Four years later, another facility was built this time on land providing a comprehensive
service pediatric facility with ongoing research activities. In 1965, the facility has officially merged
with Tufts Medical Center. Tufts is the oldest permanent medical facility in the nation. Samuel
Adams and Paul Revere originally established it at the Boston Dispensary in 1796. Despite the
former s strong historical foundation, Floating Hospital for Children has kept hold of its character
and celebrated tradition. Moreover, it was highlighted in the case analysis that the hospital has been
beset by financial

Julian Thomas Humanism
In the comparison of Julian Thomas chapter Archaeology s Humanism and the Materiality of the
Body , and Joanna R. Sofaer s chapter The Body as an Archeological Resource it was found that
individuals are characterized by cultural identities. In Thomas chapter there was an emphasis on
how individuals view themselves, particularly in regards to associated cultural stigmas. Sofaer
claims that the body is the major archeological source with cultural characteristics.
In Archaeology s Humanism and the Materiality of the Body , the major idea that was highlighted
was the modern era the main philosophy is that of humanism, which led to the idea of post
processual archaeology . Philosophical humanism incorporates the idea of reason and man to ...

However The Body as an Archeological Resource , seemed to be more focused on the
archeological aspects of how bodies are understood and analyzed in archeology for the bigger
picture. Archaeology s Humanism and the Materiality of the Body was more a philosophical
debate about how people perceive archeology and seemed to be very negative and cynical. The
second reading tied more into the overall significance of the class as it highlights how people are
understood in the global and overall context. The first reading, which began by emphasizing that
cultural identifiers should be removed when analyzing humans, did not make sense to me. Our
personalities are shaped by who we are in society and how we have made a change. If the cultural
associations were removed from Alexander the Great, he would no longer be known as the great
divine ruler. Furthermore, the Holocausts was not just caused by a man who wanted power, rather a
man who did not like a specific culture caused it. I personally disagree with Osteoarchaeologists, as
different social barriers created history and the overall importance of archeology is to understand
history and past cultures. Archeology is the study of understanding humans, cultures and the past,
not just focusing on the scientific

Toyota Essay
(b) Company background
Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in
Toyota, Aichi, Japan. Toyota is known as the second largest automotive manufacturer in world,
behind German Volkswagen Group in 2016. Toyota adopted JIT in the Toyota Production System
(TPS) as a means of eliminating the wastes in all aspects of production.
(c) Implementation of JIT by the company
In 1950, Toyota Motor Corporation had a difficulty to predict the size of their warehouse in order
to store their finish products and parts. They have to use large warehouse to store the vehicles
before shipping them to customers. It resulted in expensive inventory cost and waste associated
with keeping dead stock. This becomes the main reason for Toyota to implement JIT and Toyota
Production System (TPS) in their business operation.
The Toyota Production System (TPS) was established based on the philosophy of JIT, in which each
process produces only what is required by the next process in a continuous flow. Toyota aims to
produce high quality products that fulfill the needs of every customer through the complete
elimination of waste, inconsistencies, and unreasonable requirements ... Show more content on

assembly parts for the purpose to reduce cost. They have done several researches to understand
how supermarkets are able to ensure their shelves are always stocked with the items needed by its
customers and in the required quantity, and has all of these items available for sale at any given
time. Customers are assured of a constant supply of desired products would be available whenever
wanted thus they would only select the items that they immediately required. Toyota realized there
would be less of a need to maintain high inventories if they could ensure this same supermarket

The Pros And Cons Of Charlie Gordon s Knowledge
Learning about the world is hard enough, but to unlearn it knowing what is being lost is even
harder. Charlie Gordon is a man that learned the world and lost it all. Is knowledge is good while it
can be retained or is ignorance bliss when it can t? Knowledge is really good, even if it is only for a
little while, even if it is retained for a short period because people know what the world is, even
when that knowledgeis lost, people will retain a certain understandingof the world before they
unlearned it. Some say Knowledge is a wonderful tool in life, but if a man acquires knowledge, but
soon unlearns the knowledge yet understands how the world should be, and then loses it, ignorance
is bliss so the man does not know how people treat them in bad ways, and it shall stay that way
for his/her benefit. . All people deserve to acquire Knowledge, so they have the experience of
how life should be. Charlie Gordon acquires knowledge of how the world is and how people
treat people who have mental setbacks. To come from a position where he is made fun of, to
know this, and then back to being treated as a person that has a mental disability, knowing how he
is treated has multiple pros and some cons. To know information, even if that knowledge hurts you,
is useful. Even though it may hurt, is wonderful, because you get to learn the information. Charlie
Gordon learns that his friends are not really good friends. After becoming smart Charlie realizes his

Relationship Between the Muscular System and Its...
Each body part has a specific role within the community of the human body. When working
properly, each system is contributing to maintaining homeostasis as well. The purpose of this essay
is to discuss the relationship between the muscular system and how it contributes to the overall
health and balance of the body it is placed within. The essay will discuss the function of the
muscular system, the organization of the system and how it contributes to homeostasis. The
muscular system is the part of the body that assists with motor function and movement. There are
three types of muscles in the human body that are included within this system. Smooth muscles are
involuntary and are found inside organs such as the stomach and throat. Skeletal muscles are
voluntary and are located everywhere throughout the body. The third type of muscles are cardiac
muscles that are involuntary and keep your heart beating. While most people associate muscles
with strength, they do more than assist in lifting heavy objects. The 650 muscles in the body not
only support movement controlling walking, talking, sitting, standing, eating and other daily
functions that we consciously perform. Muscles also help to maintain posture and circulate blood
and other substances throughout the body, among other functions. Muscles can also be identified
by their function. The flexor group of the forearm flexes the wrist and the fingers. The supinator is
a muscle that supinates the wrist by rolling it over to

White Rabbit
The song White Rabbit was created in 1967 by the Jefferson Airplane. It is also one of the first
songs to get drug references past radio censors. The overall message of the song is about drug
use and anti war. In the late 1960 s, drug use became popular with young, white Americans, and
they began using drugs for fun. The negative image of drugs lessened as drugs became more
popular, and drug use became a symbol of protest in a time of political unrest. Some references to
drugs in the lyrics are hookah smoking caterpillar and you ve just had some kind of mushroom,
and your mind is moving low. The hookah smoking caterpillar could represent a drug dealer or
another person also involved with drugs like a friend. Also, people began protesting... Show more

The overall message of the song is about materialism. Madonna also said that the song is
supposed to be reflective of her life during that time. The 1980 s was a time when many people
wanted to be conservative in political, social, and economical affairs; it was also a time known
for materialism and consumerism. Although the start of the 1980 s still had people struggling
for money, by 1983, the economy recovered, and U.S. kept a period of economical growth. This
lead to people becoming rich and becoming frivolous with their purchases. Many people
interpreted Material Girl as Madonna being a free willed golddigger since it seemed to reflect a
woman s desire for expensive things and her willingness to use men for that purpose. A line that
people may use as evidence is the boy with the cold hard cash is always Mister Right which
could be viewed as the singer not caring about love and only values money. However, the lyrics
and songs are meant to be ironic since it doesn t represent the true Madonna who wasn t
materialistic and would be fine living anywhere, even a log cabin. The lines Living in a material
world constantly repeats which could symbolize the tedious nature of

Causes Of Hegemony
hegemony will make a strong country easy to launch a war, to seize the colonies, thus breaking the
balance of power.
Hegemony has created a power imbalance for the First World War in one of the causes of the
outbreak. The content of the First World War was the hegemony of the imperialist countries.
Western major powers have strong military and comprehensive strength, so they wantonly plunder
the colonies, bully small countries and regions, carve up the sphere of influence. They all want to
become kingdom to dominate the world of imperialism. By destroying France as a Power,
Germany would destroy the balance of power in Europe, and would threaten to bring Britain s
global supremacy to an end. We can see that when some countries are too powerful to be called the

the defeat of hegemony is equal to save their own. So hegemony to people to bring no good, only
the dispute. The largest empire, the territorial area of about a quarter of the world, France also has
a lot of colonies. Before Europe has been in peacetime, the gradual establishment of alliances

Social Tension Surrounding The United States Essay
Introduction
In what has become known as the issue of the century by many (Buchanan, 2015), immigration
has been a topic of debate and an area of sociological tension for several decades in the United
States. It can be seen daily in our newspapers, television shows and especially in America politics.
In fact, it could be argued that this form of social tension in the United States goes as far back as
1492 when Christopher Columbus first stepped foot on what is now North America. It was from
this point that social tension surrounding immigration into the modern United States truly began
between early European explorers and the existing Native Americans.
Social tension surrounding immigration began to peak when large scale immigration into the
United States started in the late 1800 s. In the early days of immigration into the United States the
social tension surrounded the diaspora of the Native Americans which lead to the creation of indian
reservations (cite US History.org). This early social tension primarily surrounded the obtainment of
land and the establishment of property. As we move forward into history, modern immigration
tension in America is more focused on immigration from Mexico.
This paper will explore immigration into the United States and help determine why it is a source of
social tension. Some groups suggest that immigration threatens America s resources and should be
better controlled while others suggest that immigration is vital to the success of

  • 2. Social Penetration Why do some relationships progress quickly more than others? In order to understand this, relationship must be defined. According to Merriam Webster s Dictionary, A relationship is a type of connection existing between people that have a relation or dealing with each other. It is through the process of communication, which is the process where human beings transmit ideas, information, and attitudes to one another, that our relationships are forged. Without communication there would be no relationships involved with people. Many communication scholars have tried to study on how these relationships develop. Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor had developed a theory, social penetration, to explain how relationships are established and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With that being said, we move towards the affective exchange where a great deal of open exchange occurs. Claire finally admits that she is a virgin. Towards the movie the group moves towards affective exchange when they talk about their attitudes towards their parents. They all have something in common. They all dislike certain aspects of their parents. They were showing a form of self disclosure, which involves communication about self that can deepen relationships, increase self acceptance, and can [help] discover yourself more deeply and in turn you can solve more problems (Lindsley В¶2); and reciprocity, which is when one person reveals something about him or herself, the other person tend to reply with similar information (Miller 169). Reciprocity is seen as a way to establish trust, and once trust is established there is little concern since unilateral disclosure carries little risk (Porter В¶25 ). Finally at the end of the movie, they move to stable exchange where in the final scene Claire kisses John and Andrew kisses Allison. The group of five students, who at first did not get along have become close friends in the end enriched with communication, candidness [and] emotion (Brown 89) In most cases people desire to have the stable exchange, which is the final stage of the theory. In order to obtain the final stage people as we seen in The Breakfast Club one must learn to break down the barriers that they have built up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Investment Strategy Linear Programming Essay INVESTMENT STRATEGY REPORT Submitted to J. D. Williams, Inc. By Mizar Gonzalez Industrial Engineering Department Southern Polytechnic State university 404 519 2792 February 20, 2008 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report is our recommendation for an optimal investment strategy that would allow J. D. Williams, Inc. to maximize the annual yield of an investment of $800,000 in a diversified portfolio of funds. To find the investment that would result in the greatest annual yield we have formulated a linear program that takes into account the requirements for the client of J. D. Williams, Inc. The requirements for the investment portfolio can be found on the section titled Problem Description The greatest annual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The client will realize an annual yield on the $800,000 investment of $94,133.33 if it is allocated in the following manner. The amount to be invested in the growth fund must be $ 248,889. The income fund must have an investment of $ 160,000 and the money market fund must have an investment of $ 391, 112. The solution is not surprising given the requirements for the investments. The amount invested in the growth fund yields the greatest revenue but has to be less than 50% of the total investment and is also limited by its high risk index. The amount is greatest when invested in the money market fund because it balances the greater risk the other funds are subjected to. Problem answers If the client s risk index was increased to.055 the investment would be affected in the following manner. The optimal solution becomes $ 98, 800 and the funds would be allocated in the following manner: Growth fund $ 293, 334, Income fund $ 160, 000, and Money Market fund $ 346, 667. If the original problem is consulted and the annual yield of growth fund is downgraded to 16% the optimal solution would change to $92, 934 with the funds invested in the following manner. Growth fund $ 293, 334, Income fund $ 160, 000, and Money Market fund $ 346, 667. The yield of the growth fund still justifies having a large amount of the portfolio ... On paper two, I used the discussion as a reference to what to write in the paper. I took more time in editing the paper two. What I learned that is going to help me created better paper is started my paper with an outline. In my paper, one final, Opening, social mind bugs are traits humans have developed to become social: humans are social animals. In this first paper, I only recognized little mistakes that stood out in my final paper. I already noticed that I can remove the word opening, and I could have used a semicolon instead of a colon. I improved on looking for grammar mistakes. I started using a trick my tutor recommended for me to use when I am editing my paper. I should read my draft slower, so I ... • 5. Wilfred Owen Techniques Wilfred Owens war poetry Good morning/afternoon teacher and peers, Wilfred Owen was born in 1893 in Oswestry (United Kingdom). He wanted to be a poet from the age of nineteen although most of his famous work is that which he wrote in his years spent in the war where he died in 1918. The preface to Owens poetry read: This book is not about heroes. English poetry is not yet fit to speak of them. Nor is it about deeds, or lands, nor anything about glory, honour, might, majesty, dominion, or power, except war. Above all I am not concerned with Poetry. My subject is war, and the pity of war. The poetry is in the pity. To help tell you how Owen uses poetic techniques to achieve the objective stated above i will provide an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figurative language, as with most poetry, is readily used in much of Owens work because it helps to create tone and communicate emotion effectively. Let s take a look at the poem mental cases for a few examples of figurative language. Metaphor, misery swelters surely we have perished. Simile, bearing teeth that leer like skulls teeth wicked? And also the poem disabled where we see an example of personification in the line that speaks of how the town used to swing so gay. Symbolism when it tells of the disabled man wearing his ghastly suit of gray, the gray symbolises the dullness and shadows that now hang over him. We often see the use of oxymoron s and paradox when something is being contrasted within a poem such as a line from the poem dulce et decorum est, gas! GAS! Quick boys! An ecstasy of fumbling which is used to describe the controlled panic which quickly increases as the men fumble to put on thier gas masks. A good example of a paradox also from this poem is the line that Owen writes the devil, sick of sick this is a paradox because the devil is a personification of sin, this is just another way he portrays how horrific war is. Rhetorical features are used by Wilfred Owen as it heightens the effect of the language, to create a more persuasive effect. Repetition is often used weather this be to make the poem sound monotonous when read such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Caliper Lab Report In the lab, we hypothesized, To detect two points of touch, the calipers will be separated further for the forearm than for the finger, showing that sensitivity on the forearm is smaller compared to the sensitivity on the finger. To prove our hypothesis to be correct, all seven groups used a ruler and a caliper. In each group, there was one participant who felt the sensation and responded to the points. In my group, David Wang was the participant and Jacob Gonzalez was the experimenter. I, on the other, served as the recorder of the group. We began the procedure with David s forearm. First, Jacob measured the distance between the two points on the caliper using a ruler. The distance between the two points ranged from zero to five centimeters... At 0.0 cm, 2.86% of participants felt two points on their forearms while 8.57% felt them on their fingers. At 0.5 cm, 14.29% of participants felt two points on their forearms while 94.29% felt them on their fingers. At 1.0 cm, 20% of participants felt two points on their forearms while 97.14% felt them on their fingers. At 1.5 cm, 28.57% of participants felt two points on their forearms while 100% felt them on their fingers. At 5.0 cm, 97.14% of participants felt two points on their forearms while 100% felt them on their fingers. This proves our hypothesis to be correct because the fingers of the participants were more sensitive than the forearm. The number of times a participant felt two points in the fingers increased with the distance between the calipers. This also happened when they were touched in the forearm, but the percentages were bigger in terms of the fingers because the fingers contain more sensory neurons than the ... What Is The Theme In All Summer In A Day The short story All Summer in A Day, by Ray Bradbury is about the power of jealousy and demonstrates if jealousy is not controlled, it will lead to regretful actions upon yourself. Jealousy is a key topic in the story, and in my opinion, is the main topic of the story. Although, there are other key topics in the story. All Summer in A Day is about a group of kids, who all their lives have been living in a world, Venus, with no sunand the constant sound of rain. Then there is Margot. Going back to the last paragraph, I wrote about the scene where the kids locked Margot in the closet, and I described that scene as an act of betrayal. Even though that scene is an act of betrayal, I think the scene is also an act of jealousy. If the kids were not jealous of Margot, they would have never locked her in the closet. If the kids had decided to just be jealous and not take action, Margot would have still gotten to see the sun. After the kids locked Margot in the closet the kids got to go outside and enjoy the sun, the kids remembered about Margot. The rain had started up again, all the kids were gloomy and sad. It makes it easy for moderates to exist. Only people that put some thought into what was going on or went to register to vote and was denied would start to see the problems that existed and the real motives behind the system. The most common organisms found in CLABSIs are including coagulase negative staphylococci, staphylococcus aureus, enterococci and Candida. Furthermore, the other important pathogenic determinants of CLABSI are the material of which the device is made, the host factors consisting of protein adhesions such as fibrin and fibronectin which form a sheath around the catheter and the intrinsic virulence factors of the infecting organism, including the extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) produced by the adherent organisms. Catheters made of surface irregularities materials are especially vulnerable to microbial colonization and subsequent infection. The Most Important Part Of Prescribing An Exercise Program Exercise Assessment The most important part of prescribing an exercise program is the proper assessment of the client to ensure they are physically, mentally, and healthy enough to engage in a certain type of program. With any female client 55 years of age or older, risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) should always be assessed. According to the ACSM s Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription, reviewing health and medical history is the first step in assessing risk for CVD (American College of Sports Medicine, 2014). This only shows that the Bible has already stated facts long before scientists confirmed them. Another field of science, Ecology, was spoken of in the online article History of Ecology as a new science, having only become prominent in the second half of the 20th Century . Although this much is true, it is quite evident that even before this field of science came into actuality, ecologically related passages already existed in the Bible. The reason why dinosaurs are not written in the Bible is because the word dinosaur was coined by Sir Richard Owen in 1841. These enormous creatures where popularly called as dragons. • 35. Gene Expression And Its Engineering Introduction Transformation is the process of allowing a cell to be able to accept a gene into itself and allow the gene to become part of the cell s whole, thus changing its form and expressing the gene s function. This process was first discovered by the British bacteriologist Frederick Griffith, who was able to transform Streptococcus pneumoniae into a different strain of Strep. in 1928 (1928). This discovery was pivotal in the way we understand geneexpression and its engineering. An example of genetic engineering using transformation that applies to everyday life is the synthesizing of human insulin, which is a peptide hormone that helps to regulate the amount of sugar that runs through the bloodstream. In the early 1900s, insulin from other animals was used to treat diabetes, but human insulin is now able to be easily produced in bulk through genetic engineering, and has largely replaced animal insulin for the treatment of diabetes. Insulin is made from cells in the pancreas, and the extraction of insulin from animals used to require taking it directly from the animal s pancreas glands. It was not until 1977 that synthetic human insulin was genetically engineered by Arthur Riggs and Keiichi Itakura, and was achieved by the process of transformation using Escherichia colias a host (1977), which allowed for the easy reproduction of human insulin. Using this method, the production of human insulin became large scale, faster, cheaper, and more accessible. A weakened ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During this time, they began investing in wind, solar, biofuels, and many other new types of energy sources. They also created programs to educate citizens and stakeholders about environmental awareness. Most importantly, though, they also tasked their ethicsand compliance team with creating a code of conduct policy and communicate it out to every employee (p.343 345). Considering that BP is a worldwide company, with employees of diverse languages and cultures, this was a very difficult task to complete. Not only would it be a challenge to communicate the new code of conduct out to each employee, but it was even more difficult for the company to enforce it. Because of the lack of understanding on how to deal with ethical dilemmas, managers and employees within the company did not complete proper risk assessment, leading to the worst oil spill in U.S. History. This would come to be known as the Deepwater Horizon spill. BP commonly outsources machinery and companies to complete certain tasks. They did in this case by hiring an oil rig ... Another random error occurred in the first experiment where the red puck was initially held down to prevent it from moving and released when the black puck collided with it. Due to the person s reaction time, holding it in place may have interfered with the collision as it was an external force and this may have impacted upon the results. Several systematic occurred in this experiment, but the most important one would have been the fact that the air hockey table was not completely level. This impacted upon the experiment in two ways. In the first experiment where the red puck is initially stationary, as the table was not level it moved around before the black puck collided with it. To overcome this the red puck had to be held in place and as mentioned before this would have provided and external force acting upon the puck. The unevenness of the air hockey table also meant that there was a possibility of friction acting on the pucks while they were moving. In the third collision with the Velcro another systematic error occurred. When the two pucks collided and stuck together they did not continue straight, instead they rotated. This is not linear momentum but rather it is angular momentum. This is reflected in the results as the magnitude of the initial and final momentum of the system is equal, but the ...
