Across the different field of applications, several routing protocols have been proposed to achieve
enhanced network lifetime via energy efficient transmission [5]. The main cause for the energy
depletion in batteries in WSN is the communication required to transmit and receive data to other
nodes. Mostly the energy consumption in the network is due to transmission and reception
activities. However, the energy consumed for the processing operation is less important than the
energy used for communication [6].
The wireless sensor networks mainly comprise stationary and mobile sensors that are deployed
randomly inside the network and they collect data from the surroundings via wireless
communication links [7, 8].
Single hop or multi hop protocols are used to further transmit collected data to one or more base
stations or sink [9]. An enormous amount of structured and unstructured data known as big data
is generated rapidly that requires a flexible and reliable storage infrastructure [10]. Sensor nodes
transfer the obtained useful information from a defined network either directly or via a chain of
CHs to the BS [11]. In designing a routing protocol for WSN the main concern is the energy
efficiency [12]. Thus, energy depletion of one node may vary from other, i.e., nodes near the BS or
sink have more energy depletion than the other nodes. This results in the creation of energy holes
near the sink [13].
Further transmission of data towards the sink is not

The Three Stages Of Behaviorism
BEHAVIORISM
Behaviorism is a type of psychology and a theory of learning. Everything we know about
behaviorism is through observation and experimentation. It is not concerned with internal thoughts
like thinking, feeling, knowing or emotions. What behaviors believe is people have no free will. A
person s environment determines their behavior Behaviorism is the idea that all behavior is the
result of our environmental surroundings. On other words, the things that happened in the
environment leading up to the behavior are what caused it. The environment provides a stimulus,
and our behavior is a response to that stimulus. It focuses on the objective and observable
components of behavior

Classical conditioning is defined as a learning process where two stimuli are repeatedly paired and
eventually a response originally elicited by the just the second stimuli is elicited beforehand by the
first stimuli.
Classical conditioning theory involves learning a new behavior via the process of association. In
simple terms two stimuli are linked together to produce a new learned response in a person or
animal. There are three stages of classical conditioning. At each stage the stimuli and responses are
given special scientific terms.
Before Conditioning:
In this stage, the unconditioned stimulus produces an unconditioned response in an organism. In
basic terms, this means that a stimulus in the environment has produced a behavior / response
which is unlearned (i.e. unconditioned) and therefore is a natural response which has not been
taught. In this respect no new behavior has been learned yet.
During Conditioning:
During this stage a stimulus which produces no response (i.e. neutral) is associated with the
unconditioned stimulus at which point it now becomes known as the conditioned stimulus.

Roald Dahl s Visit To Matilda The Musical
On Saturday, September 26, 2015, Sarah, my uncle and I traveled to the Winspear Opera House
in downtown Dallas to see Matilda the Musical. Audience members observed the beloved story
by Roald Dahl come to life on stage. This is the musical s first national tour filled with an
incredibly young and talented cast that draws readers into the story. One exciting detail worth
mentioning is I ve had the pleasure of personally meeting two of the talented cast members,
Michael Fatica and John Michael Fiumara in 2014 in New York City when they were ensemble
members of the Broadway musical Newsies. This cast did an amazing job creating a fun
atmosphere while showing excellent musicianship and telling the iconic story. The piece that opens
the show is Miracle. This song begins with the children... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She demonstrated very nice diction and did an incredible job at staying in character. The Hammer
is the first song in which the audience members are introduced to the hilarious Miss Trunchbull.
Interestingly, Miss Trunchbull s character is played by a male tenor and she/he is an absolute
blast to watch! He did an excellent job in staying in falsetto and adding vibrato. Bruce is a song
that highlights one of the most well known scenes in the book in which Bruce gets in trouble for
eating a piece of Miss Trunchbull s cake and therefore must to eat the entire cake. Telly is
performed by Mr.Wormwood, Matilda s dad, in which he pokes fun at people who read instead of
watching television. This hilarious number was executed perfectly by the actor. He had great
sliding notes and made the number very fun to experience. When I Grow Up is a beautiful song that
sends a heartwarming message with its sweet melody. One thing that astounded me was that the
actors were singing while sitting and standing on moving swings. Not only did they have nice
diction, they maintained excellent phrasing along with crescendos and decrescendos. Quiet and My

The Fall Of The House Of Usher Essay
This Obscure Story The Gothic and Romantic themes in The Fall of the House of Usher are
presented in an unusual way. From its landscape to its atmosphere, the author, Edgar Allan Poe,
successfully includes darkness and horror in several dramatic events and objects. Edgar Allan
Poe in The Fall of the House of Usher testifies the darkness of its landscape and the symbolism of
numerous objects in order to show how people react to the belief of Gothicism. The landscape
plays a valuable role on how the belief of Gothicism signifies the mood of this haunted short story.
The landscape of The Fall of the House of Usheris expressed with possessions of feelings of its own
sadness and soul (ThГ©rio 7). The narrator himself evaluates it as very... Show more content on

Edgar Allan Poe illustrates the idea of symbolism of the house and Usher twins through the
condition of the house and the twins, the collapse of the twins, and the strong bond between the
twins, the house and the darkness and evil throughout the story. First, the man made object may
have symbolizes the condition of the house and twins. The house of Usher was described
throughout the story as old and cracked. The same description is indirectly stated to the Usher
twins, Roderick and Madeline Usher. They are both old in age and ill. Next, the house
symbolized the twin s collapse, which led to the collapse of the house itself. The state that
Madeline was in caused her death, which also lead to Roderick s death. The disintegration of the
twins minds was, most likely, the cause of the catastrophic breakdown of the house. The twins
were also in the same condition as the house, which might also be another cause to the collapse of
the house since both were, again, described as old and cracked. The separation of the twins disrupts
the balance, destroying both [the house and the Usher twins] (Timmerman 168). The vitalities of
the Ushers had brought about the decay of the family line (Abel 381) and the strong bond between
the Usher family and their house destroyed the

Political Participation Case Study
3. Write an essay in which you discuss how public opinion differs among various groups in
America according to race and ethnicity, religion, and region. What impact, if any, may this have
on each group s level of political participation and responsiveness by elected officials?
Public Opinion differs greater among various groups in America according to race and ethnicity,
religion, and region. This has a great effect on group s level of political participation and
responsiveness by elected officials. This can be seen especially in the case of race and ethnicity. An
example of this is the Mexican community and the issue of immigration. As many individuals a part

##blacklivesmatter movement against the #blacklivesmatter movement. Caucasians also have
more political influence, as many elected officials are caucasian, and therefore there is a quicker
response time compared to other races and ethnicities. This distinction is also seen in religion, in
the case of Islam and Christianity. For example, the islamic community takes offense to the term
radical Islam, however many individuals not a part of that community view it as dangerous.
This is partially due to terrorism efforts, such as that of I.S.I.S., and the 9/11 attacks. Meanwhile
we can see that there is a larger response by the media on the war on Christmas against
Christianity, in which Christmas novelties are being removed from public spaces. This has
garnered the response of media groups such as Fox, who are against the war on Christmas. This
has all led to an increase in political participation by Christians compared to Muslims, due to the
fact that the communities are being persecuted when they do participate. We can also see that
Christians see a quicker response time in this. Region also plays a major

Training (HiIT) is a highly intensive workout that is done infrequently using heavier weight and
shorter brief rest periods between sets. Most people who train use typical training methods which
involve more frequent work outs, using lighter weights at a lower intensity. HiIT became a big hit
in the 1970 s when the inventor of Nautilus machines said that if you train harder, briefer, and less

Private Ryan Ethical Dilemma
Ethical Dilemma Paper
In the movie, Saving Private Ryan , by Steven Spielberg, there are a lot of moments in the video
that would raise an ethical dilemma issue. The one that stands out the most is when a squad of
Army Rangers that was involved in the Omaha Beach invasion, is ordered to cross through Nazi
occupied France to search and bring home the last surviving brother of the Ryan family, Private
First Class Ryan.
It raises an ethical dilemma because many would ask, why risk the lives of many for one? Does
risking the lives of a squad of United States (US) Army Rangers justify the means to save just one
US Private? What if you add that this one US Private is the last surviving member out of four
brothers? That if this last brother dies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do I send in more men into danger to risk their lives to save one? Before I commit to a decision,
I would have to evaluate the situation, identify the ethical and moral conflicts involved in this
decision. Giving the order to send out the Rangers would not be in violation of any rules or
regulations, in fact, would back up the Army standards of leaving no person behind. Private Ryan
went in behind enemy lines as a paratrooper. As his platoon went into heavy fire, they lost
communication. The Army has a standard of sending in reinforcements to help fellow soldiers.
Now, seeing that family is important to the Army, and Private Ryan is the last in the family s
lineage, you can rule out moral conflict in the decision. You know that by saving this Soldier, would
alleviate the burden on the family. I would say that the family has contributed to the Army values,
selfless service, honor, and duty. They risked their lives in the goal of completing the mission.
I would give the order to send in a squad of Rangers to search and retrieve Private Ryan, based on
family virtues. Rangers are trained to go behind enemy lines undetected. They are highly skilled
soldiers, able to take on unconventional

Noise Sensor Essay
Abstract In this Paper, issues related to noise sensor application of instrumentation amplifier
through substrate coupling in system on chip design are described and demonstrated including the
physical phenomenon responsible for its creation, coupling transmission mechanism and media,
parameter affecting coupling strengths and its impact on mixed signal integrated circuits. Basic
aim is to find out magnitude of interference happening when analog and digital circuit is placed
nearby on a common substrate. It has been design to have a broad bandwidth (1 KHz to 1MHz)
with very high CMRR to cancel out the unwanted noise at its both inputs and deliver single output.
MOSFET capacitors are used for the picking of substrate interference.
Key words CMOS, , noise sensor, Substrate Coupling, Guard Banding.
Introduction
The wireless sensor network is applicable in numerous life saving critical field because of low
cost long battery life sensors. A sensor network comprises of sensors and routers to choose the
administrator host that is called the coordinator [2]. A wireless sensor network is easy to use in the
desired environment [6], and the information can be collected then processed and sent to a desired
location. Recent break trough in wireless communication and micro electro mechanical systems
(MEMS) [3 5] provides large scale, low power, multi functional, and low cost network

Complicated Relationship Between the Federal, State, and...
The relationship between the federal government of the United States and the state and local
governments is unique. This relationship in the modern age has become more interconnected and
complicated than ever before. The weaknesses of American Federalism has never been as glaringly
obvious as it was in the response by state, local and federal governments to the devastation of
Hurricane Katrina. Failures by multiple elected officials and government agencies exacerbated an
already dire situation by delaying much needed aid to the gulf region. This, combined with a
fundamental misunderstanding of the physical geography of the region, led to policies that
weakened the coastline and made New Orleans extremely susceptible to hurricane damage.... Show

Federal agencies failed to respond to multiple attempts by both private and public institutions to
warn of the possibility of a large scale disaster spurred by a land falling hurricane. An independent
study financed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and completed more than
a year before Katrina, found that New Orleans was the U.S. city most susceptible to hurricane
damage. FEMA elected to take no further action than to circulate the results of the report to the
organization. Some think this may have been worsened by the decision to place FEMA under
Department of Homeland Security, which decreased funding and restricted natural disaster
response resources.
The federal government also failed the gulf region in the policy decisions made concerning the
management of natural resources in the area and the effect on its physical geography. One of these
programs was called the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet or MRGO. The purpose of this project was
to provide an economic boost to the region by increasing river traffic, and also aid in the
recurring flood water issues in the Mississippi Delta Region. A byproduct of the project was that
it increased the flow of water south to New Orleans. Government subsidies were given to
companies drilling in the New Orleans region for oil and natural gas even though this was causing
the city to slowly

Grapes Of Wrath Chapter 12
When examining John Steinbeck s, Grapes of Wrath he details the story of the Joads an Oklahoma
family on their way to California in the midsts of the Dust Bowl. As he discusses their journey
towards the american dream he inserts several intercalary chapters that break up the discussion of
the Joads and shifts the focus towards the things that symbolizes them. In the novel there are several
intercalary chaptersthat are used to depict the lies and deceit that occurs to the Joads right under
their nose.
One intercalary chapter that relates to the message of the whole book is a quote from chapter
12. The quote states, That rattle that s tappets. Don t hurt a bit. Tappets can rattle till Jesus comes
again without no harm. But that thudding as the car moves along can t hear that just kind of feel
it. Maybe oil isn t gettin someplace. Maybe a bearing s startin to go. Chapter 12 is written from
the perspective of Steinbeck. The Joads are on the road to California and the narrator begins
talking about California gas stations. Steinbeck says that there are used car salesman who try and
get the farmers to buy parts from them and insist to the farmers that they need will need the parts
and how their cars are the best in town. In this particular scene a family is listening to the sound of
the engine in the car. The author uses a euphemism in this passage when he is speaking as the used
car salesman in order to make the travelers believe that the car is better than it is

Pros/advantages and Cons/disadvantages
An advantage to the Nutrisystem diet would be steady weight loss and a convenient way to get
oneself on track. In addition, no food is restricted in and of itself. Other foods besides the
package system are available for the participant to enjoy. There are specific concepts for each
dieter based on their other types of conditions. Different tracks for older adults and diabetics are
made available ( health and wellness, 2014).
Disadvantages to this diet, as well as diets like Jenny Craig, would be first and foremost the cost
that is needed in order to purchase the food. In addition with the Nutrisystem diet, dining out is not
a part of the plan. The diet is restricted in the fact that your meals are prepared and delivered but
there is not an avenue for creativity in preparing meals, this may make things difficult for a family.
Recommendations
I would only recommend Nutrisystem to a person who needed to lose a considerable amount of
weight, and only if they were willing to spend the money for the guaranteed calorie restriction.
Those who are willing to make a large commitment in the form of money may benefit from having
the work of food prep done for them. However, this is not a long term solution. Nutrisystem does
claim that they have made enhancements in their plan and are continually researching in order to
make it healthy and safe for participants ( health and wellness, 2014).

Affordable Housing For Elderly Or Disabled Persons Essay
Affordable housing for elderly or disabled persons The United States government provides housing
assistance for the elderly or disabled with low income statues through various programs in the form
of rental assistance or affordable housing. However, most of these governments housing assistance
for the disabled or elderly persons are managed through the local public housing authorities (PHAs).
Several other agencies providing the same government benefits includes the local Department of
Housing and Community Development, the individual State Housing Finance Agencies and the
Rural Development offices through the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA). Additionally,
some financial aid channeled toward the housing assistance programs are retrieved from the U.S
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as well as the USDA s Rural Housing
Services. Within this paper, several aspects of the housing policy for the disabled and the elderly
persons will be delved into in brooder details. One major characteristic of the government housing
aid for the elderly persons is that they are overly subscribed with waiting lists that differ in length.
Currently, the government housing assistance accessible to elderly persons with low income status
include: the Housing Choice Voucher Program, the HOPE for elderly independence program, the
Rural Housing Services Rental Assistance Program, Local Rental Assistance Programs and the
Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program.

Why Franklin Was A Thoroughbred Renaissance Man
During Benjamin Franklin s illustrious 84 years of life he achieved success that seems practically
unachievable today. Franklin found success in business, going from a teenager traveling colonial
America looking for work as a printer, to building his own printing empire. Aside from business,
Franklin also had a knack for inventing. He developed products such as the Franklin stove,
bifocals, lightning rod, and the glass harmonica. Include the fact that he was also heavily involved
in politics, is one of the founding fathers of our nation, and also one of the most intelligent men of
all time, and it is easy to see that Benjamin Franklinwas a thoroughbred renaissance man. It is one
thing to know about the story of Benjamin Franklin, but it is completely different to understand
the potential benefits of following his way of life. This essay will focus on the benefits that
Franklin s story could have on the typical college student. College is a time of immense personal
growth, and what better way to grow than with the guidance from the author of the American
dream Benjamin Franklin. After four short years, students are let out into the real world so it is
important to be prepared. That is why it would be wise for college students to follow the life of
Benjamin Franklin as presented in his autobiography. Franklin s work ethic, emphasis on personal
growth, and frugality are relevant to college students today, and provide an outline for helping
students find success.

million African American slaves were forcefully brought to America on ships. The ships had such

Carlsbad Desalination Case Study
Did you know that the Carlsbad Desalination Project by Poseidon will cost over $1 billion? This
is one of the many reasons stated in the article, California tries one solution to water problems
treating seawater, by The Sacramento Bee, on why the government should pull the plug on the
Carlsbad Desalination Project. The project is expensive, dangerous, and unreliable, so we should
heavily consider how toxic the aftermath of the project will be, before we make the poor decision
to withdraw 100 million gallons of seawater from the ocean to meet Californias water needs. One
reason why we should not move forward with the water desalination plant is because it is
expensive for everyone. The article by The Sacramento Bee states that Customers

Micro Parties In Australia Essay
Micro parties have been apart of the democratic landscape in Australia for many years but rose to
prominence in Australia during and after the 2013 Federal election where the election delivered the
biggest Senate crossbench in modern history. Due to their size the micro parties have no real
chance of forming government but they do have a huge opportunity in influencing electoral
outcomes. Competition in any industry is positive and with the influx of micro parties in Australia,
most having an impact on the electorate and appealing to voters the new look Senate can be seen
as a major win for Australian democracy.

Larger and unpredictable cohorts of swinging voters now characterize our democratic system. Their
political preferences and voting intentions constantly change, often heavily influenced by a single
issue or narrower policy platform.
The major parties, as a result, become less flexible and responsive. They can be held up by
procedural delays, adherence to party rules or structures, and even the need for cabinet solidarity.
All this suggests micro parties may not be some kind of unwelcome or unrepresentative intrusion
into our democratic system, as conventional views would have it.
Criticism of the major parties has also been directed toward the type of candidate put up for
election by the major political parties. Matthewson (abc 2014) states that there has been an influx
of the professional political elite such as former political advisers, party apparatchiks and trade
union leaders who have very little real life experiences which alienates them from the general voters
and makes them difficult to relate

How Did Sherman s March To The Sea Cut A Swath Of Destruction
Sherman s march to the sea cut a swath of destruction sixty miles wide and two hundred eighty
five miles long from Georgia s industrial hub, Atlanta, to the coastal city of Savannah. During his
march Sherman estimated his forces caused at least one hundred million dollars worth of damage
adding up to a little more than one and a half billion by today s standards. Major General William
Tecumseh Shermanbegan his military career at the United States Military Academy where he
graduated in 1840 as a Second Lieutenant. Once the Civil War broke out he was sent to the
Mississippi area where he quickly distinguished himself and rose through the ranks. He was
eventually placed in command of the forces charged with taking the Mississippi River and gained
the respect of Lincoln. This gained him command of the Army of Tennessee and Georgia with
which he was to split the deep south from the upper south, keeping the Confederate armies busy

Hannibal Lecter Animal Roles
The distinction between human and animal has always been blurred in NBC s Hannibal. The TV
show, written and produced by Bryan Fuller, acts as a modern day prequel to the events that take
place in Thomas Harris s series about the fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter. In this TV series,
Hannibal the cannibal Lecter has not been caught yet though Will Graham, an FBI consultant,
knows he is a dangerous man who must be stopped.
In episodes nine ( Shiizakana ) and ten ( Naka Choko ) from the second season, the story of Randall

Randall Tier s vicious mauling of his victims almost seems tame in comparison except that in
order to kill, Tier must become an animal through the use of his exoskeleton suit. Tier s
character, whose last name already categorizes him as an animal in a playful yet blunt reference,
questions the very limitations of the categories human and animal. He asks, through the donning
of his animal suit, how exactly we perform our humanity and how we perceive the animals
around us. Like Franz Kafka s ape in the short story, Report to An Academy, Randall Tier is a
liminal figure, trapped inside his body and inside other s perceptions of what being an animal
means. Borrowing from old tropes in Thomas Harris s early work on the character Buffalo Bill,
Randall Tier also represents the stasis of the psychiatric discourse which seeks to pathologize his
need for transcendence by placing him on a spectrum of Sane/insane and quantifying his condition
in science, which eventually leads to his downfall and death. In the same way that Red Peter

Analysis Of Me Before You By William Traynor
Me Before You is about a young woman who takes a job as the caretaker for a quadriplegic man
who intends to commit suicide and falls in love with him. Her name is Louisa Clark and the guy
who she falls in love with is named William Traynor.
In Me Before You William Traynor is like James Bond, which means that guys wantto be him and
all ladies want to be with him. Before his accident, Will lived a full life in every sense of the
phrase. He was a successful international businessman, he was having enthusiasm and in his
personal time. So after he had an accident, he lost everything in his life, because he had such a
hard time of adapting to quadriplegic life, he could not do anything beside sitting on his
wheelchair. As he said, No, Clarke. This could be a good life, but it s not even close. You never
saw me before. I loved my life. I really loved it. I can t be the kind of man who just accepts this .
I empathise William s feeling because he was never a man who was content to just sit around
and think what he always had to be doing, but now he can not do very much at all, and so his

Hoovers Relief Efforts In the early years of the Great Depression, before 1932, President Herbert
Hoover was faced with a terrible problem. The entire country, and to a large degree the entire
world, was in the midst of one of the worst economic recessions in current history. All around the
country, people were out of work, down on their luck, and starving. One in every six American
males was unemployed, and the future outlook was not much better.
In 1930, drought struck Arkansas, worsening the already terrible conditions under which the poor
sharecroppers and landowners lived in. The Depression had already been had on these farmers, who

major tragedy was avoided, and the farmers and their families were fed. The national media,

The negative portrayal of the scene led an already worn and frightened public to worry about unrest

Example Of Artificial Sweeteners
Final Draft
Sweeteners come in different forms. There are natural sweeteners and artificial sweeteners
Do we understand what we consume?
Is our reliance on sweeteners detrimental to our society?
We created artificial sweeteners to cope with our addiction to sugar. One of the appeals of artificial
sweeteners is that it comes with less calories than sugar and that it does not cause your insulin levels
to spike.
We should cut down our sugar intake in America. We should start small by starting locally in our
communities. Shopping from a farmer s markets
According to heart.org, Sugars in your diet can be naturally occurring or added. Naturally
occurring sugars are found naturally in foods such as fruit (fructose) and milk (lactose). Added
sugars are sugars and syrups put in foods during preparation or processing, or added at the table.
Too much added sugar may cause your liver to reject insulin. Insulin is an important hormone that
helps turn glucose(sugar) in your bloodstream into energy. If your body can t control your blood
sugar levels, it can lead to type 2 diabetes. Although research has overconsumption of sugar is bad
for your health, artificial sweeteners should not be considered as a safer alternative.
Artificial Sweeteners tend to help avoid the problem rather than fix it. Diet sodas are an example
of this. People would drink a Diet Coke or a Coke Zero thinking that it is healthier than a regular
Coke. Diet Coke gives off a connotation that it is better for your body

Compare And Contrast Brutus And Julius Caesar
We know what we are, but know not what we may be, William Shakespeare. Marcus Junius

Brutus a character from Shakespeare s Julius Caesar was surprisingly similar to his historical

In the play, we see that Brutus was on good terms with Caesar and historically that was also true.
Brutus was soon pardoned by Caesar likely thanks to his mother s influence and he and Gaius
Cassius Longinus were appointed the positions of high ranking magistrate in 44 BC. Then they
were later appointed the positions of consuls in 41 BC. Finally, what Brutus is most known for in
fiction and history is killing Caesar. After Caesar s assassination, the conspirators were driven out
of Rome by the outraged citizens and fled to Italy. Where they stayed until Mark Antonyforced
them to leave. They then were assigned positions in Greece by the Senate, where they slowly
conquered the entire Roman east. (Eastern Rome.) In 42 BC. Brutus and Cassius fought two battles
at Philippi against Mark Antony and Otavia. Cassius killed himself after being defeated in the first
battle and Brutus killed himself after his defeat in the second. Mark Antony gave Brutus an
honorable burial. Brutus was a descendant from Lucius Junius Brutus, who drove the Etruscan
kings from Rome and who founded the Roman Republic. This could have been a contributing

Utilitarianism Vs Environmental Ethics
An individual will be considered virtuous if he/she is able to make appropriate moral actions or
carry himself/herself in an ethical way that is in accordance to his/her personality (Mosser, 2013).
These decisions are solely based on serving others and therefore it is contrary to utilitarian
perspective. Possessing virtues is paramount in discussing issues surrounding environment, for
instance, making the environment the comfortable habit. Also, virtues will help an individual make
moral decisions that will aim at coming up with lasting solutions to environmental issues. There are
two categories of people: those who are conversant and appreciate their contribution to the better
environment and those holding contrary views on the betterment of the environment.
Aristotle highlighted virtues which are important to a person. These virtues are as follows:
temperance, proper judgment, and courage. For an individual to be virtuous he/she has to put into
practice these qualities in a balanced manner, and this person is referred as phronesis (Mosser,
2013). When these values are applied in real life situation, it will be of great help to an individual
especially environmentalists who aim at making the environment a better place in which
environment constituents live. According to Hill, (2013), we as human are the ... Show more content

The Flood of Noah and the Gilgamesh Flood
The Sumero Babylonian version of the epic of Gilgamesh, after two and a half millennia of
dormancy, was resurrected by British archaeologists in the nineteenth century. Amid the rubble of
an Assyrian palace, the twelve clay tablets inscribed the adventures of the first hero of world
literature King Gilgamesh, whose oral folk tales go back to at least 3000 years before Christ (Harris

In Column 2 of Tablet 11 the Sumero Babylonian Flood narrative continues with the measurements
and construction of the ark:
One acre was its whole floorspace; ten dozen cubits the height of each wall; ten dozen cubits its
deck, square on each side.
I [Utnapishtim] laid out the contours, drew it all.
I gave it six decks and divided it, thus, into seven parts.
Its innards I divided into nine parts.
I struck water plugs into it.
I checked the poles and laid in all that was necessary.
I poured 24,000 gallons of bitumen into the kiln; the same amount I laid on the inside.
The basket bearers brought on three shars of oil in addition to the shar of oil consumed in the seed
meal and the two shars of oil stowed away by the boatman.(Gardner 231)
On the seventh day the ark was completed. It was launched, and then loaded with all my kin and
family and with the animals of the fields. This ark has twice the number of floors as Noah s ark.
After the Jewish Old Testament establishes reasons for the Flood, then it proceeds with specific
building instructions to Noah in Genesis 6:14:
Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with
pitch. This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty
cubits, and its height thirty cubits. Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above; and set

Why Did Salt Grow In River Essay
The Effect of Salt on Radish Seed Growth along the Nelson River in Ensi county, Indiana.
Autumn Acord
Radish farms along the Nelson river had a recent lack of growth of their radishes. A landfill and
a salt storage facility had recently opened along the river near the farms. Samples from the river
were taken and used to grow radishes to see what caused the lack of growth. The salt storage
facility had leaked into the river, causing samples B and D not grow.

It was in the middle of Nelson River between irrigation pumps. There was an abundance of salt
and it was not able to dissolve or become diluted enough for the plants to grow. This helps prove
that the salt is the reason why the radish seeds were not growing on this farm.
Each seed with Site E water grew on average 7.625 centimeters. Site E was located after Kimmel
s Creek joined in with the river, where Kimmel s Creek brings fresh water and helps dilute or
dissolve the salt. All this data helps find the reason why the farmers are having problems with
growing their crops by the Nelson River.
The hypothesis that was being tested was if the salt facility was leaking salt, then the crops will
not grow. The hypothesis was supported by the data gathered because it proves that the seeds in
the sites located near the salt facility did not grow at all, but the other seeds did when they were
not affected. Site B and D s seeds did not even sprout and they were located either by the salt
facility or slightly downstream. Site Cand E was farther down the river and was not affected by
the salt. Site A was completely before the storage facility and was not affected in anyway since it

Impact Of The Gilded Age
Stemming from the end of the Civil War, the age of Reconstruction boomed. Some industries were
starting to populate prior to and during the War, such as the iron industry and the California Gold
Rush. However, the idea of Big Businesses and their large impact on America was greatly noticed
in the years to come called the Gilded Age, coined by Mark Twain as America started to gleam
with gold. The start of such growth in American happened as businesses wanted to expand and
workers began discovering new crops and demand for them increased. Farming so many crops
quickly became more of a hindrance and required more hands to help harvest the crop. Then, as
more crops grew, so did the demand, and the natural human pace no longer sufficed for harvesting.
Such demand required better technology and faster transport on top of more workers to lend a
hand. As technology also boomed during this era, it helped fuel the industries capability to flourish
beyond belief. Industrialization grew like no one thought it could bring in a thriving economy,
expanding cities, and with such growth a challenging workforce. Beginning with an expanding
economy, many individuals like Andrew Carnegie and his steel industry lead the way into the
Gilded Age. So much, that near the end of the century, America was completely dominated by
successful businessmen; John Rockefeller and J.P. Morgan also became common household names.
As the businesses grew, more job opportunities were available to citizens.

In the film, Chaplin also puts the blind girl and her grandmother in a place where they are
struggling to pay the bills. Even though the tramp is the tramp and poor as well he gets the
money from the rich man. This could be viewed as a sexist little bit of the movie as the women
can t pay the rent because she doesn t make enough money to support them and then a man
comes in and saves the day even though the man is in a much more dire situation than the two
girls. Through all of that we still never see how it turns out between the two. After the woman
gets the surgery and finally sees the tramp for who he really is we see her wondering what to do
next. Before we get to that moment we see the woman eyeing all of the men that are wearing nice
clothes and appear wealthy, and doesn t know what to do when the poor tramp reveals that it is
him who gave her that money. This could be interpreted as woman are attracted to money and don t
really care what s in your heart.
The main woman in Modern Times is opposite of the woman in City Lights. Just like the Tramp
she gets into trouble and is poor just like him. Compared to the other movie it seems like this girl
is a much better fit for the tramps character than the woman in City Lights. This girl sparks scenes,
jokes, and opportunities for the tramp while the other woman was mainly just a romantic set piece.

Digital Technology Into The Learning Process Essay
Academia has been slow to incorporate digital technology into the learning process, and English
courses seem to lag behind most other subject areas. Even when trying, College professors are
challenged because post secondary students separate into different stratifications... according to
their previous academic, social, and professional experiences with computers experiences that, in
turn, are often dependent on age, class, race, and gender (Bancroft, 2016, p. 47). These
stratifications create Rainie s definition of the digital divide: the gap between those who access and
use computers and the internet and those who do not (Bancroft, 2016, p. 47). Many students can
access the internet or computers, but there is an additional expectations in collegiate education.
Writing centers regularly work with students who cannot confidently or successfully use technology

Evolutionary Theories Of Human Behavior
Before discussing this question it is important to understand how neurotransmission occurs. Firstly,
the neuron impulse needs to be triggered, dopamine for example can be triggered by something a
human finds pleasurable such as cigarettes or food. After the neuron is triggered it fires the impulse
across the neuron releasing dopaminetransmitters into the synaptic gap. From there, the
neurotransmitterbinds with specific receptor sites to activate the dopamine. Almost immediately
after the human is filled with joy and pleasure. This explains how (especially in addicts) the site of
things can cause pleasure and affect human behavior in a positive way. Contradicting this however
if there is a problem or lack of dopamine, the human will have feelings... Show more content on

Historically disgust would have allowed human ancestors to survive long and produce strong
offspring because they would avoid harmful or rancid food or animals. Because of this, similar
genes would have been passed to the next generation. One case study that represents how disgust
has become an acquired and evolutionary trait that explains human behavior is Fessler (2006). In
this cases study Fessler hypothesized that disgust would help in keeping the potential fetus safe
from harm. In order to best prove this 496 healthy pregnant women from ages 18 to 50 in an
online survey were given different images and asked to rank them on the scale system of disgust.
This study discovered that women in their first trimester largely scored higher on the level of
disgust compared to that of women in the second and third trimester. Furthermore, when the study
was controlled more greatly it was found that higher levels of sickness were in response to that of
food. This study helps supports disgust being an evolutionary trait passed on by humans because it
helps young offspring fight potential disease as well as assist in the reproduction of offspring for
having a greater survival chance.Within biological psychology, one of the primary principle states
that there are biological correlates on behavior. By this, there are genetically acquired
behavioral traits such as hormones and neurotransmitters that explains why humans have
particular behaviors. One case study that helps to prove this theory is newcomer et al 1999. In
this study participants were broken up into three groups, group one given the highest amount of
cortisol had tablets that were 160 mg of cortisol for four days. Following this was group two who
were given 40 mg of cortisol for also for 4 days, and lastly group three was given a placebo tablet.

her time. She, also, was one of the prime female mathematicians, in her time, to have existing
records of her life and work. Hypatia was born 350 or 370 CE in Alexandria, Egypt and died in 414
CE. During that time period, Hypatiadefied all odds in the educational field. However, even though
Hypatia made many achievements, she is most known for her infamous death.
Her father Theon of Alexandria was also a mathematician and an astronomer. He was one of the
last professors who taught at the University of Alexandria before the tragedy took place. Theon, in
his field of work, edited and commented on the final solutions text in math to make it easy for his
students to learn. Later on, Hypatia contributed to his later edition according to Hypatia: Great
Mathematician or Geometry Teacher? article by Faith L. Justice. Hypatia was raised in a way
where her father treated her as a son rather than a daughter. Theon in a sense... Show more content

As an apprentice to her father, Hypatia continued to preserve the Greek mathematical and
astronomical heritage just as her as her father did. According to the article Hypatia by Michael
Deak, She is credited with commentaries (comments and explanations) on Apollonius of Perga s
Conic and Diophantus of Alexandria s Arithmetic, as well as an astronomical table. Apollonius of
Perga s Conic are theories created by Apollonius of Perga who was a Greek geometer, meaning he
was a mathematician who studied geometry. Specifically, the conic section dealt with hyperbolas,
parabolas, and ellipses. Diophantus of Alexandria s Arithmetic are theories created by Diophantus
of Alexandria, who was a Greek mathematician who studied algebra. Diophantus essentially
brought symbolism to the algebraic world. Hypatia, also, did a lot of commentaries on her father s

Cubism In Pablo Picasso s Les Demoiselles DAvignon
Pablo Picasso s painting, Les Demoiselles D avignon uses the elements of color, line, and shape
to make the statement: Of young women in avignon. Picasso spent nine months painting Les
Demoiselles D avignon, this paintings one of his most famous examples of cubism. Picasso
proved to exist as one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. He also
joined an artist production that he spiritually believed would keep him alive. Picasso spent 80
out of his 91 years of living devoted to this group. While devoted to this group, he painted Les
demoiselles d avignon . The painting consists of five prostitutes that stood on the street corner
named Avignon, the red light district of Barcelona, a street that Picasso would frequently visit. The
females in this painting fill the entire space, and they almost look as if they could be trapped. I
believe that picasso made these women fill the space completely, attempting to symbolize the fact
that the women were trapped in a lifestyle that they did not want to exist in.
Picasso, much like the women of avignon, did not enjoy life during the time of this painting.
Every painting Picasso did encouraged him to make it better than the previous, which I believe he
truly captured all of that inside this painting. Picasso used colors to express the emotions he
experienced during this period of time. He mainly used red, blue, white, and black. Picasso tried to
keep the paint color as accurate to skin tone as he could

Essay On The Godfather

Contemporary Literature
18 October 2014
Film Review The film, The Godfather, was released on March 24, 1972. The time period that the
movie was set in was 1945, which was the time period of the Mafia. This film is based around two
families fighting throughout the film. One of the main characters, Michael Corleone, changes
throughout the movie deciding whether or not he should join in on the family business and take his
fathers position (Vito Corleone) as Godfather. As a viewer, I did not enjoy this film due to the
darkness and wickedness behind it. Although, many believe it to be one of the greatest movies of
all time, in my opinion, the film was not a success.

Color being one element, was really used in the film helped and played a major role to help the
viewer see the obscurity and wickedness that lied within all of the characters. The colors were
used to also manipulate the way your mood fluctuated throughout the movie. Another strong
element used was the set design. The set was used to show what time period the movie was set
in, but also where the Mafia was mainly located throughout the movie. The dialogue furthermore
showed and helped the viewer really get the feel of where the characters are from, and their
culture. The costumes additionally played a major role in showing where the characters were
from in the movie. The costumes helped audiences get the full ambiance of the time period and
moods of the characters. Also, there are many scenes in the movie that make you anxious and
on the edge of your seat. A specific example would be the scene of the shooting of Sollozo and
Mcclusky. This scene makes you question many things and you do not know what is happening
when Sollozo is speaking in Italian, which just adds suspense to the viewer s emotions. The
camera pans out of Michael s face and then, BOOM! Sollozo and Mcclusky are dead. This is just
one of the scenes that kept you in the verge of your seat and through all of these elements, there was
a permutation that worked in harmony to make

The s Theory Of Evolution
With one discovery, the battles began. When Galileo published a book defending Copernicus idea
that the Earth revolves around the sun, he was put on trial by the Catholic Church. This scientific
finding threatened the beliefs and teachings of religious institutions, which was the first battle in a
never ending war. Today, America exercises freedom of religion. However, this freedom is
restricted in schools where Darwin s Theory of Evolutionis taught. With many advancements in
science, to many, the coexistence of science and religion, specifically Christianity, is questionable.
To some, developments in science, such as evolution, threaten the core beliefs of religious
institutions. Several scientists also believe that it is possible to believe in God and that humans
evolved over time. Lastly, others, including me, believe that science and religion can coexist and
that both miracles and new scientific discoveries can strengthen Christian faith. As Albert Einstein
said, science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind. This paper will further
explore this question and provide evidence that science and religion can coexist: are science and
religion comparable? What do scientific discoveries say?
In the beginning, there was light. This light created a spark, which started the fire of science and
religion. The light is the existence of science, the spark is the advancements in and applications of
science, and the fire is the controversy that

A Report On The Enzyme Classification Of Enzyme And The...
L Lactate Dehydrogenase L lactate dehydrogenase, or LDH, is an oxidoreductase that occurs in
many organism and is a reaction that is important to many cells. From the peptide sequence, this
specific enzyme catalyzes the pyruvate to lactate reaction along with the coenzyme NAD+/ NADH.
The enzyme classification for this sequence is EC: 1.1.1.27, these numbers each identify a specific
part of the enzymeand the reaction is a part of. The first one identifies that this is and
oxidoreductase reaction, which accounts for the dehydrogenase in the name. The second number is
the labeling that a hydrogen is undergoing the oxidation reduction and the final one is indicating
that the l lactate is the acceptor of the hydrogen. The final digit, 27, is specific to the pyruvate
reaction that the L lactate dehydrogenaseis catalyzing. Each peptide sequence was run through
BLAST technology both forward and backwards. The sequence was examined multiples ways to
understand that the order of a sequence is important, and to guarantee the correct enzyme is found.
The BLAST database compares the sequence to many different organism and their different
cellular reaction and rates each enzyme on their similarities and the likelihood of getting a certain
result of a different database (E value). The LDH was the top 100% match with a low E value of
2e 11. This connected the sequence to an enzyme in the organism Mus Musculus in the muscle and
heart cells. It occurs in different regions of the house

The argumentthat asset prices are set by rational investors is part of the grand oral traditionin
economics and is often attributedto Milton Friedman, one of the greatesteconomists of the century
and one of the greatestdebatersof all time. But the argument has two fundamental problems. First,
even if asset priceswere set only by rationalinvestors in the aggregate, knowing what individual
investors are doing might still be of interest. Second, although the argumentis intuitively appealing
and reassuring, its adherents have rarely spelled it out carefully. Suppose a markethas two kinds of
investors: rational investors (rationals), who behave like agents in economics textbooks, and quasi
rational investors (quasi s),people who are trying as hard as they can to make good
investmentdecisions but make predictablemistakes. Suppose also that two assets in this market,X
and Y, areobjectivelyworth the same amount but cannotbe transformedfrom one into the other.
Finally, assume that the quasi s thinkX is worth more thanY, an opinion thatcould change (quasi

Marburg Hemorrhagic Fever Research Paper
In the year 1967 a disease called the Marburg virus (MVD), formerly known as Marburg
hemorrhagic fever, was discovered. MVD was identified during epidemics in Marburg and
Frankfurt in Germany and in Belgrade in the former Yugoslavia (now Serbia) from importation of
infected African green monkeys from Uganda. Thirty one people became sick, first the laboratory
staff, followed by several family members and medical personnel who took care of the ill
laboratory workers. Seven deaths were reported. The very first people infected were researching the
imported African Green monkeys or the tissue of the monkeys while conducting research.

Juveniles in the Adult Justice System
Topic: Juveniles do not belong in the Adult Justice System. Authorities who waive Juveniles into
the Adult Justice System are making a devastating impact on their futures
Abstract
This paper is about the most controversial subject in the penal system today, i.e. should juveniles be
treated as adults and be tried in the adult justice system and the negative impact on their lives. This
becomes relevant after the judgment in Roper Vs Simmons (1995) which states that there is a
doubt as to when the adolescent becomes an adult. The paper further analyses whether juveniles are
different from adults and the conclusion arrived at is that the adult world is different from the
world of minors and hence there must be total differentiation between the justice systems for
juveniles and adults.
A) Introduction
This paper is an attempt to understand and point out the flaws in the legal system that has of late
in many cases begun to treat juveniles in the same footing as adult offenders. There is a raging
controversy over this move that makes young offenders to be tried and incarcerated just as if the
crime was done by an adult. The arguments over this have been made in the Supreme Court and
the land mark judgement Roper Vs Simmons (1995). However it is submitted that simple
observations of the post procedure effects on young persons have not been verified or recorded
properly. If this system continues, would it not be against the logic of creating the juvenile justice
system

Sonnet 146
Sonnet 146 is well known for its deeply intriguing religious aspect, as it is one of Shakespeare s
religious sonnets and almost the only religious one. It is religious as its tone mentions its concern
with heaven, asceticism and also the progress of the soul all through out the sonnet. The idea that
the poet was trying to convey to his audience is that the body exists at the expense of the soul, so
that adorning or worrying about its beauty can only be accomplished at the souls expense. The
poem is an internal monologue, which makes it first person point of view. This helps the audience
understand that he is talking to himself and whom he is talking about. This sonnetcan also be
referred to as mediation between the soul and the body... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words poor and sinful are both negative. We can understand through this negative tone that the
poet or the earth in this sonnet is a bad place and we then link sinful to ungodliness, which is what
the whole poem is about.
Another example of metaphor used in this poem is found in the second quatrain; fading mansion
which is used the represent our body. This metaphor explains that our souls are slowly dying and
becoming very dull and fading as we do not live our lives like we are suppose to, according to the
poet.
In line 13 so shalt thou feed on death , gives us the audience a thought that we must constantly be
thinking about death and also as a part of human nature we ponder about life. In other words, for
this metaphor, we as humans feed on death, which in turns feeds on us.
Why so large a cost, having so short a lease this lease refers to life, which is short as we as
humans are not immortal. This metaphor asks why we as humans put so much effort into life when
death comes so quickly.
Closing couplet:
The metaphor from the 3rd quatrain is continued and expanded in the closing couplet. It finishes
from the 1st quatrain of the starving person within the mansion and then turns into irony of the
idea that death feeds on humans. And in the last lines, death and dying are words used as imagery
to describe and give us the final image of eternal life.
Shakespeare, with the use of vivid imagery,

The Evolution Of Human Species Essay
In recent years, anthropologists have made great progress in discovering all of the different kinds of
human species. The discovery of a certain early human species, Australopithecus afarensis was
initially credited to the finding of a single individual, AL 288 1, or Lucy. She has helped
anthropologists to understand the diet, anatomy, environment, sexual dimorphism, the technology
or tools used during their time, and bipedalism of this early hominin species. The evolution of
humans is interesting due to the questions we are trying to find and the answers we might never
find. With the finding of Australopithecus Afarensisand Lucy, we can understand what our early
hominin ancestors were like and the significant changes that were made from them to us today.
Humans created a theory that millions of years ago humans walked the earth, but it was not until
recently that theory became a fact. In 1974, a partial skeleton was uncovered in Hadar, Ethiopia, by
American paleoanthropologist Donald Johanson. This skeleton was named AL 288 1 and later
given the nickname, Lucy. She received the name Lucy from a popular song at the time of her
discovery, Lucy in the sky with diamonds , by The Beatles. After a series of tests, the age of
Lucy was soon determined to be an estimated 3.2 million years old (Dorey Blaxland, 2015). Her
sex was established by using one of the pelvic bones and sacrum that was discovered at the Hadar
dig site. The weight and height of Lucy have been

John Hay Open Door Policy
John Hay, the Secretary of State, first articulated the Open Door Policy in 1899. The Secretary of
State s intentions for the Open Door Policy was aimed to secure international agreements for
policy, trade and commerce with China. Prior to John Hay, American policies with China were
conducted under similar principles however, were not official until he put the policy in writing and
proposed it to the powers in Europe. The Open Door was not an official United Statespolicy but was
considered notes sent between the Far East in the late 1800 s and half of the 1900 s. The Open
Door notes were never a policy and were only drafts of notes sent between John Hayand European
countries in an attempt to establish equal trade commerce and equal port availability regardless of
nationality. John Hay battled for years throughout the 19th century putting these notes into place.

among European powers. During the same time the United States had just won the Spanish
American war and had gained control of Guam, Philippines and Hawaii. With growing economical

proposed their ideas to John Hay. Hay would construct and draft the initial agreement. John Hay

It provides the improvement in ETSSEP protocol by dividing the sensing area into nine regions and these are dedicated to the different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Across the different field of applications, several routing protocols have been proposed to achieve enhanced network lifetime via energy efficient transmission [5]. The main cause for the energy depletion in batteries in WSN is the communication required to transmit and receive data to other nodes. Mostly the energy consumption in the network is due to transmission and reception activities. However, the energy consumed for the processing operation is less important than the energy used for communication [6]. The wireless sensor networks mainly comprise stationary and mobile sensors that are deployed randomly inside the network and they collect data from the surroundings via wireless communication links [7, 8]. Single hop or multi hop protocols are used to further transmit collected data to one or more base stations or sink [9]. An enormous amount of structured and unstructured data known as big data is generated rapidly that requires a flexible and reliable storage infrastructure [10]. Sensor nodes transfer the obtained useful information from a defined network either directly or via a chain of CHs to the BS [11]. In designing a routing protocol for WSN the main concern is the energy efficiency [12]. Thus, energy depletion of one node may vary from other, i.e., nodes near the BS or sink have more energy depletion than the other nodes. This results in the creation of energy holes near the sink [13]. Further transmission of data towards the sink is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Three Stages Of Behaviorism BEHAVIORISM Behaviorism is a type of psychology and a theory of learning. Everything we know about behaviorism is through observation and experimentation. It is not concerned with internal thoughts like thinking, feeling, knowing or emotions. What behaviors believe is people have no free will. A person s environment determines their behavior Behaviorism is the idea that all behavior is the result of our environmental surroundings. On other words, the things that happened in the environment leading up to the behavior are what caused it. The environment provides a stimulus, and our behavior is a response to that stimulus. It focuses on the objective and observable components of behavior Behaviorism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Classical conditioning is defined as a learning process where two stimuli are repeatedly paired and eventually a response originally elicited by the just the second stimuli is elicited beforehand by the first stimuli. Classical conditioning theory involves learning a new behavior via the process of association. In simple terms two stimuli are linked together to produce a new learned response in a person or animal. There are three stages of classical conditioning. At each stage the stimuli and responses are given special scientific terms. Before Conditioning: In this stage, the unconditioned stimulus produces an unconditioned response in an organism. In basic terms, this means that a stimulus in the environment has produced a behavior / response which is unlearned (i.e. unconditioned) and therefore is a natural response which has not been taught. In this respect no new behavior has been learned yet. During Conditioning: During this stage a stimulus which produces no response (i.e. neutral) is associated with the unconditioned stimulus at which point it now becomes known as the conditioned stimulus. • 4. Roald Dahl s Visit To Matilda The Musical On Saturday, September 26, 2015, Sarah, my uncle and I traveled to the Winspear Opera House in downtown Dallas to see Matilda the Musical. Audience members observed the beloved story by Roald Dahl come to life on stage. This is the musical s first national tour filled with an incredibly young and talented cast that draws readers into the story. One exciting detail worth mentioning is I ve had the pleasure of personally meeting two of the talented cast members, Michael Fatica and John Michael Fiumara in 2014 in New York City when they were ensemble members of the Broadway musical Newsies. This cast did an amazing job creating a fun atmosphere while showing excellent musicianship and telling the iconic story. The piece that opens the show is Miracle. The Hammer is the first song in which the audience members are introduced to the hilarious Miss Trunchbull. Interestingly, Miss Trunchbull s character is played by a male tenor and she/he is an absolute blast to watch! He did an excellent job in staying in falsetto and adding vibrato. Bruce is a song that highlights one of the most well known scenes in the book in which Bruce gets in trouble for eating a piece of Miss Trunchbull s cake and therefore must to eat the entire cake. Telly is performed by Mr.Wormwood, Matilda s dad, in which he pokes fun at people who read instead of watching television. This hilarious number was executed perfectly by the actor. He had great sliding notes and made the number very fun to experience. When I Grow Up is a beautiful song that sends a heartwarming message with its sweet melody. One thing that astounded me was that the actors were singing while sitting and standing on moving swings. Not only did they have nice diction, they maintained excellent phrasing along with crescendos and decrescendos. Quiet and My House are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Fall Of The House Of Usher Essay This Obscure Story The Gothic and Romantic themes in The Fall of the House of Usher are presented in an unusual way. From its landscape to its atmosphere, the author, Edgar Allan Poe, successfully includes darkness and horror in several dramatic events and objects. Edgar Allan Poe in The Fall of the House of Usher testifies the darkness of its landscape and the symbolism of numerous objects in order to show how people react to the belief of Gothicism. The landscape plays a valuable role on how the belief of Gothicism signifies the mood of this haunted short story. The landscape of The Fall of the House of Usheris expressed with possessions of feelings of its own sadness and soul (ThГ©rio 7). The narrator himself evaluates it as very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Edgar Allan Poe illustrates the idea of symbolism of the house and Usher twins through the condition of the house and the twins, the collapse of the twins, and the strong bond between the twins, the house and the darkness and evil throughout the story. First, the man made object may have symbolizes the condition of the house and twins. The house of Usher was described throughout the story as old and cracked. The same description is indirectly stated to the Usher twins, Roderick and Madeline Usher. They are both old in age and ill. Next, the house symbolized the twin s collapse, which led to the collapse of the house itself. The state that Madeline was in caused her death, which also lead to Roderick s death. The disintegration of the twins minds was, most likely, the cause of the catastrophic breakdown of the house. The twins were also in the same condition as the house, which might also be another cause to the collapse of the house since both were, again, described as old and cracked. The separation of the twins disrupts the balance, destroying both [the house and the Usher twins] (Timmerman 168). The vitalities of the Ushers had brought about the decay of the family line (Abel 381) and the strong bond between the Usher family and their house destroyed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Political Participation Case Study 3. Write an essay in which you discuss how public opinion differs among various groups in America according to race and ethnicity, religion, and region. What impact, if any, may this have on each group s level of political participation and responsiveness by elected officials? Public Opinion differs greater among various groups in America according to race and ethnicity, religion, and region. This has a great effect on group s level of political participation and responsiveness by elected officials. This can be seen especially in the case of race and ethnicity. This distinction is also seen in religion, in the case of Islam and Christianity. For example, the islamic community takes offense to the term radical Islam, however many individuals not a part of that community view it as dangerous. This is partially due to terrorism efforts, such as that of I.S.I.S., and the 9/11 attacks. Meanwhile we can see that there is a larger response by the media on the war on Christmas against Christianity, in which Christmas novelties are being removed from public spaces. This has garnered the response of media groups such as Fox, who are against the war on Christmas. This has all led to an increase in political participation by Christians compared to Muslims, due to the fact that the communities are being persecuted when they do participate. We can also see that Christians see a quicker response time in this. Region also plays a major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hi Intensity Weight Training (HiIT) is a highly intensive workout that is done infrequently using heavier weight and shorter brief rest periods between sets. Most people who train use typical training methods which involve more frequent work outs, using lighter weights at a lower intensity. HiIT became a big hit in the 1970 s when the inventor of Nautilus machines said that if you train harder, briefer, and less often, your physical gains will outdo the typical training methods. • 8. Private Ryan Ethical Dilemma Ethical Dilemma Paper In the movie, Saving Private Ryan , by Steven Spielberg, there are a lot of moments in the video that would raise an ethical dilemma issue. The one that stands out the most is when a squad of Army Rangers that was involved in the Omaha Beach invasion, is ordered to cross through Nazi occupied France to search and bring home the last surviving brother of the Ryan family, Private First Class Ryan. It raises an ethical dilemma because many would ask, why risk the lives of many for one? Do I send in more men into danger to risk their lives to save one? Before I commit to a decision, I would have to evaluate the situation, identify the ethical and moral conflicts involved in this decision. Giving the order to send out the Rangers would not be in violation of any rules or regulations, in fact, would back up the Army standards of leaving no person behind. Private Ryan went in behind enemy lines as a paratrooper. As his platoon went into heavy fire, they lost communication. The Army has a standard of sending in reinforcements to help fellow soldiers. Now, seeing that family is important to the Army, and Private Ryan is the last in the family s lineage, you can rule out moral conflict in the decision. You know that by saving this Soldier, would alleviate the burden on the family. I would say that the family has contributed to the Army values, selfless service, honor, and duty. They risked their lives in the goal of completing the mission. I would give the order to send in a squad of Rangers to search and retrieve Private Ryan, based on family virtues. Noise Sensor Essay Abstract In this Paper, issues related to noise sensor application of instrumentation amplifier through substrate coupling in system on chip design are described and demonstrated including the physical phenomenon responsible for its creation, coupling transmission mechanism and media, parameter affecting coupling strengths and its impact on mixed signal integrated circuits. Basic aim is to find out magnitude of interference happening when analog and digital circuit is placed nearby on a common substrate. It has been design to have a broad bandwidth (1 KHz to 1MHz) with very high CMRR to cancel out the unwanted noise at its both inputs and deliver single output. MOSFET capacitors are used for the picking of substrate interference. Key words CMOS, , noise sensor, Substrate Coupling, Guard Banding. Introduction The wireless sensor network is applicable in numerous life saving critical field because of low cost long battery life sensors. A sensor network comprises of sensors and routers to choose the administrator host that is called the coordinator [2]. A wireless sensor network is easy to use in the desired environment [6], and the information can be collected then processed and sent to a desired location. • 10. Complicated Relationship Between the Federal, State, and... The relationship between the federal government of the United States and the state and local governments is unique. This relationship in the modern age has become more interconnected and complicated than ever before. The weaknesses of American Federalism has never been as glaringly obvious as it was in the response by state, local and federal governments to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Failures by multiple elected officials and government agencies exacerbated an already dire situation by delaying much needed aid to the gulf region. This, combined with a fundamental misunderstanding of the physical geography of the region, led to policies that weakened the coastline and made New Orleans extremely susceptible to hurricane damage.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Federal agencies failed to respond to multiple attempts by both private and public institutions to warn of the possibility of a large scale disaster spurred by a land falling hurricane. An independent study financed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and completed more than a year before Katrina, found that New Orleans was the U.S. city most susceptible to hurricane damage. FEMA elected to take no further action than to circulate the results of the report to the organization. Some think this may have been worsened by the decision to place FEMA under Department of Homeland Security, which decreased funding and restricted natural disaster response resources. The federal government also failed the gulf region in the policy decisions made concerning the management of natural resources in the area and the effect on its physical geography. One of these programs was called the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet or MRGO. The purpose of this project was to provide an economic boost to the region by increasing river traffic, and also aid in the recurring flood water issues in the Mississippi Delta Region. A byproduct of the project was that it increased the flow of water south to New Orleans. Government subsidies were given to companies drilling in the New Orleans region for oil and natural gas even though this was causing the city to slowly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Grapes Of Wrath Chapter 12 When examining John Steinbeck s, Grapes of Wrath he details the story of the Joads an Oklahoma family on their way to California in the midsts of the Dust Bowl. As he discusses their journey towards the american dream he inserts several intercalary chapters that break up the discussion of the Joads and shifts the focus towards the things that symbolizes them. In the novel there are several intercalary chaptersthat are used to depict the lies and deceit that occurs to the Joads right under their nose. One intercalary chapter that relates to the message of the whole book is a quote from chapter 12. The quote states, That rattle that s tappets. Don t hurt a bit. Tappets can rattle till Jesus comes again without no harm. But that thudding as the car moves along can t hear that just kind of feel it. Maybe oil isn t gettin someplace. Maybe a bearing s startin to go. Chapter 12 is written from the perspective of Steinbeck. The Joads are on the road to California and the narrator begins talking about California gas stations. Steinbeck says that there are used car salesman who try and get the farmers to buy parts from them and insist to the farmers that they need will need the parts and how their cars are the best in town. In addition, no food is restricted in and of itself. Other foods besides the package system are available for the participant to enjoy. There are specific concepts for each dieter based on their other types of conditions. Different tracks for older adults and diabetics are made available ( health and wellness, 2014). Disadvantages to this diet, as well as diets like Jenny Craig, would be first and foremost the cost that is needed in order to purchase the food. In addition with the Nutrisystem diet, dining out is not a part of the plan. The diet is restricted in the fact that your meals are prepared and delivered but there is not an avenue for creativity in preparing meals, this may make things difficult for a family. Recommendations I would only recommend Nutrisystem to a person who needed to lose a considerable amount of weight, and only if they were willing to spend the money for the guaranteed calorie restriction. Those who are willing to make a large commitment in the form of money may benefit from having the work of food prep done for them. However, this is not a long term solution. This essay will focus on the benefits that Franklin s story could have on the typical college student. • 36. Impact Of The Gilded Age Stemming from the end of the Civil War, the age of Reconstruction boomed. Some industries were starting to populate prior to and during the War, such as the iron industry and the California Gold Rush. However, the idea of Big Businesses and their large impact on America was greatly noticed in the years to come called the Gilded Age, coined by Mark Twain as America started to gleam with gold. The start of such growth in American happened as businesses wanted to expand and workers began discovering new crops and demand for them increased. Farming so many crops quickly became more of a hindrance and required more hands to help harvest the crop. Then, as more crops grew, so did the demand, and the natural human pace no longer sufficed for harvesting. Such demand required better technology and faster transport on top of more workers to lend a hand. As technology also boomed during this era, it helped fuel the industries capability to flourish beyond belief. Industrialization grew like no one thought it could bring in a thriving economy, expanding cities, and with such growth a challenging workforce. Beginning with an expanding economy, many individuals like Andrew Carnegie and his steel industry lead the way into the Gilded Age. • 37. Modern Times And City Lights Essay The role of women in Modern Times and City Lights is compelling compared to the roles of men in the films. Chaplin uses women as a set piece to set up jokes for him and other male characters, and drops little sexist aspects into what is the larger body of the two films. Chaplin uses women to diversify the types of jokes he can use and the aspect of a womancharacter in the filmcan alter what he does, where he can go, and it modifies the tramps moods throughout the films In both of the films we watched Chaplin uses the aspect of women to set up the tramps jokes. Even though the tramp is the tramp and poor as well he gets the money from the rich man. This could be viewed as a sexist little bit of the movie as the women can t pay the rent because she doesn t make enough money to support them and then a man comes in and saves the day even though the man is in a much more dire situation than the two girls. Through all of that we still never see how it turns out between the two. After the woman gets the surgery and finally sees the tramp for who he really is we see her wondering what to do next. Before we get to that moment we see the woman eyeing all of the men that are wearing nice clothes and appear wealthy, and doesn t know what to do when the poor tramp reveals that it is him who gave her that money. This could be interpreted as woman are attracted to money and don t really care what s in your heart. The main woman in Modern Times is opposite of the woman in City Lights. Just like the Tramp she gets into trouble and is poor just like him. Compared to the other movie it seems like this girl is a much better fit for the tramps character than the woman in City Lights. This girl sparks scenes, jokes, and opportunities for the tramp while the other woman was mainly just a romantic set piece. However, he still uses women as set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Digital Technology Into The Learning Process Essay Academia has been slow to incorporate digital technology into the learning process, and English courses seem to lag behind most other subject areas. Even when trying, College professors are challenged because post secondary students separate into different stratifications... according to their previous academic, social, and professional experiences with computers experiences that, in turn, are often dependent on age, class, race, and gender (Bancroft, 2016, p. 47). These stratifications create Rainie s definition of the digital divide: the gap between those who access and use computers and the internet and those who do not (Bancroft, 2016, p. 47). Many students can access the internet or computers, but there is an additional expectations in collegiate education. Writing centers regularly work with students who cannot confidently or successfully use technology for academic purposes, which becomes a primary barrier to their academic success. Writing centers need to actively attempt to reduce this divide through instruction, application, and adaptation to help struggling students. Recognizing the Divide Literacy with technology takes on additional expectations when considering collegiate academics which creates a digital divide. • 40. Evolutionary Theories Of Human Behavior Before discussing this question it is important to understand how neurotransmission occurs. Firstly, the neuron impulse needs to be triggered, dopamine for example can be triggered by something a human finds pleasurable such as cigarettes or food. After the neuron is triggered it fires the impulse across the neuron releasing dopaminetransmitters into the synaptic gap. From there, the neurotransmitterbinds with specific receptor sites to activate the dopamine. Almost immediately after the human is filled with joy and pleasure. This explains how (especially in addicts) the site of things can cause pleasure and affect human behavior in a positive way. Contradicting this however if there is a problem or lack of dopamine, the human will have feelings... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historically disgust would have allowed human ancestors to survive long and produce strong offspring because they would avoid harmful or rancid food or animals. Because of this, similar genes would have been passed to the next generation. One case study that represents how disgust has become an acquired and evolutionary trait that explains human behavior is Fessler (2006). In this cases study Fessler hypothesized that disgust would help in keeping the potential fetus safe from harm. In order to best prove this 496 healthy pregnant women from ages 18 to 50 in an online survey were given different images and asked to rank them on the scale system of disgust. This study discovered that women in their first trimester largely scored higher on the level of disgust compared to that of women in the second and third trimester. Furthermore, when the study was controlled more greatly it was found that higher levels of sickness were in response to that of food. This study helps supports disgust being an evolutionary trait passed on by humans because it helps young offspring fight potential disease as well as assist in the reproduction of offspring for having a greater survival chance.Within biological psychology, one of the primary principle states that there are biological correlates on behavior. By this, there are genetically acquired behavioral traits such as hormones and neurotransmitters that explains why humans have particular behaviors. One case study that helps to prove this theory is newcomer et al 1999. In this study participants were broken up into three groups, group one given the highest amount of cortisol had tablets that were 160 mg of cortisol for four days. The painting consists of five prostitutes that stood on the street corner named Avignon, the red light district of Barcelona, a street that Picasso would frequently visit. The females in this painting fill the entire space, and they almost look as if they could be trapped. I believe that picasso made these women fill the space completely, attempting to symbolize the fact that the women were trapped in a lifestyle that they did not want to exist in. Picasso, much like the women of avignon, did not enjoy life during the time of this painting. Every painting Picasso did encouraged him to make it better than the previous, which I believe he truly captured all of that inside this painting. When Galileo published a book defending Copernicus idea that the Earth revolves around the sun, he was put on trial by the Catholic Church. This scientific finding threatened the beliefs and teachings of religious institutions, which was the first battle in a never ending war. Today, America exercises freedom of religion. However, this freedom is restricted in schools where Darwin s Theory of Evolutionis taught. With many advancements in science, to many, the coexistence of science and religion, specifically Christianity, is questionable. To some, developments in science, such as evolution, threaten the core beliefs of religious institutions. Several scientists also believe that it is possible to believe in God and that humans evolved over time. Lastly, others, including me, believe that science and religion can coexist and that both miracles and new scientific discoveries can strengthen Christian faith. As Albert Einstein said, science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind. This paper will further explore this question and provide evidence that science and religion can coexist: are science and religion comparable? What do scientific discoveries say? L Lactate Dehydrogenase L lactate dehydrogenase, or LDH, is an oxidoreductase that occurs in many organism and is a reaction that is important to many cells. From the peptide sequence, this specific enzyme catalyzes the pyruvate to lactate reaction along with the coenzyme NAD+/ NADH. The enzyme classification for this sequence is EC: 1.1.1.27, these numbers each identify a specific part of the enzymeand the reaction is a part of. The first one identifies that this is and oxidoreductase reaction, which accounts for the dehydrogenase in the name. The second number is the labeling that a hydrogen is undergoing the oxidation reduction and the final one is indicating that the l lactate is the acceptor of the hydrogen. The final digit, 27, is specific to the pyruvate reaction that the L lactate dehydrogenaseis catalyzing. Each peptide sequence was run through BLAST technology both forward and backwards. The sequence was examined multiples ways to understand that the order of a sequence is important, and to guarantee the correct enzyme is found. The BLAST database compares the sequence to many different organism and their different cellular reaction and rates each enzyme on their similarities and the likelihood of getting a certain result of a different database (E value). • 49. Juveniles in the Adult Justice System Topic: Juveniles do not belong in the Adult Justice System. Authorities who waive Juveniles into the Adult Justice System are making a devastating impact on their futures Abstract This paper is about the most controversial subject in the penal system today, i.e. should juveniles be treated as adults and be tried in the adult justice system and the negative impact on their lives. This becomes relevant after the judgment in Roper Vs Simmons (1995) which states that there is a doubt as to when the adolescent becomes an adult. The paper further analyses whether juveniles are different from adults and the conclusion arrived at is that the adult world is different from the world of minors and hence there must be total differentiation between the justice systems for juveniles and adults. A) Introduction This paper is an attempt to understand and point out the flaws in the legal system that has of late in many cases begun to treat juveniles in the same footing as adult offenders. There is a raging controversy over this move that makes young offenders to be tried and incarcerated just as if the crime was done by an adult. The arguments over this have been made in the Supreme Court and the land mark judgement Roper Vs Simmons (1995). However it is submitted that simple observations of the post procedure effects on young persons have not been verified or recorded properly. If this system continues, would it not be against the logic of creating the juvenile justice system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Sonnet 146 Sonnet 146 is well known for its deeply intriguing religious aspect, as it is one of Shakespeare s religious sonnets and almost the only religious one. It is religious as its tone mentions its concern with heaven, asceticism and also the progress of the soul all through out the sonnet. The idea that the poet was trying to convey to his audience is that the body exists at the expense of the soul, so that adorning or worrying about its beauty can only be accomplished at the souls expense. The poem is an internal monologue, which makes it first person point of view. This helps the audience understand that he is talking to himself and whom he is talking about. This sonnetcan also be referred to as mediation between the soul and the body... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The words poor and sinful are both negative. We can understand through this negative tone that the poet or the earth in this sonnet is a bad place and we then link sinful to ungodliness, which is what the whole poem is about. Another example of metaphor used in this poem is found in the second quatrain; fading mansion which is used the represent our body. This metaphor explains that our souls are slowly dying and becoming very dull and fading as we do not live our lives like we are suppose to, according to the poet. In line 13 so shalt thou feed on death , gives us the audience a thought that we must constantly be thinking about death and also as a part of human nature we ponder about life. In other words, for this metaphor, we as humans feed on death, which in turns feeds on us. Why so large a cost, having so short a lease this lease refers to life, which is short as we as humans are not immortal. This metaphor asks why we as humans put so much effort into life when death comes so quickly. Closing couplet: The metaphor from the 3rd quatrain is continued and expanded in the closing couplet. It finishes from the 1st quatrain of the starving person within the mansion and then turns into irony of the idea that death feeds on humans. And in the last lines, death and dying are words used as imagery to describe and give us the final image of eternal life. Shakespeare, with the use of vivid imagery, ... The discovery of a certain early human species, Australopithecus afarensis was initially credited to the finding of a single individual, AL 288 1, or Lucy. She has helped anthropologists to understand the diet, anatomy, environment, sexual dimorphism, the technology or tools used during their time, and bipedalism of this early hominin species. The evolution of humans is interesting due to the questions we are trying to find and the answers we might never find. With the finding of Australopithecus Afarensisand Lucy, we can understand what our early hominin ancestors were like and the significant changes that were made from them to us today. Humans created a theory that millions of years ago humans walked the earth, but it was not until recently that theory became a fact. In 1974, a partial skeleton was uncovered in Hadar, Ethiopia, by American paleoanthropologist Donald Johanson. This skeleton was named AL 288 1 and later given the nickname, Lucy. She received the name Lucy from a popular song at the time of her discovery, Lucy in the sky with diamonds , by The Beatles. After a series of tests, the age of Lucy was soon determined to be an estimated 3.2 million years old (Dorey Blaxland, 2015).
