Jeeps-A way of Life Since 1941
The very first Jeep was created in 1941. This Jeep was known as the Military Bantam AKA the
MB Jeep. The United States Department of War needed a new light, cross country, reconnaissance
vehicle. Therefore an American automobile company called Willy s Overland and Motors created
the Army s new vehicle. This vehicle was a 2.2L engine, 4 wheel drive, 2 door, with a 3 speed
manual transmission Jeep. The Willy s Jeep another name for the MB was also a Вј ton vehicle that
was the top of the line military technology. Jeeps were essential to transportation of military
soldiers and equipment to designated spots. With this amazing help of the Jeep, the army was
getting to its peak in World War II. Jeeps grabbed my attention and interest because not only do I
own one, but I believe the iconic history of Jeeps is amazing. It amazes me that this small vehicle
can have such a huge impact on history as becoming the World War II Vehicle . Jeeps have
inspired other similar light utility vehicles and are the oldest off road vehicleever made. Jeeps also
have a huge impact on today s modern society. Jeeps bring society together. Jeep people have a
slang term for themselves called Jeepers . Within today s society there are Jeep Clubs. The
aftermath of the Military Bantam Jeep, the Civilian Jeep, was another start to the legacy of Jeeps.
In 1944 the CJ was brought to life with in the Jeep world. Along with all of its other brothers in
the military this was the first Jeep to be used in public

Essay On Things They Carried
In the list of all the things the soldiers carried, what item was most surprising? Which item did
you find most evocative of the war? Foot powder was most surprising to me. This also shows us
how much these soldiers had to travel in the war. In what sense does Jimmy love Martha? Why
does he construct this elaborate, mostly fictional, relationship with her: What does this reveal
about his character? The sense Jimmy loves Martha is that she gives him perseverance. Martha is
the thing that makes Jimmy get through the war, she s like Jimmy s rock she gives him the
motivation to be with her. Why do the soldiers tell jokes about the war?About killing? I think
soldiers joke to help cope what they re facing out there in the war. Also, to stay in... Show more

THE STRATEGIES What is significant about the poncho in paragraph 2? What effect is created
by its use? The significance of the poncho explains how Ted was shot and how he was brought to
the helicopter in a poncho. This is a fast way to bring up death and sadness into a part of the
story. In paragraph 11 O Brien talks about unweighed fear . What does he mean by that? How
does that further the theme of the text? Unweighted fear includes all of the bad memories that
were made during the war as well as the good memories of the war. This furthers the theme
because we are introduced to physical burden but as the story progress, we slowly see mental
burden are being introduced. what tone is established by the last sentence of paragraph 13?The
tone in the last paragraph is somewhat nostalgic because Jimmy is replaying memories of
Martha and imaging new incidents as his way to escape war and work. What effect is created by
the use of rhetorical questions in paragraph 18? The rhetorical questions further describe how no
one wanted to go down the tunnel. Furthermore, rhetorical question creates a sense of paranoia
because the tunnel wasn t as bad as they anticipated. How would you characterize the diction O
Brien uses? What is the effect the word choice he uses? O Brien word choice emphasizes the hard
work of the soldier. Also, the use of rhetorical question helps us understand the thought process of

Observation Techniques In A Case Study Of Silvanus s...
While working in this case study, I use different types of observation techniques in order to
gather information needed to evaluate Silvanus s challenging behavior in my case study. The
first observation method I am using now is anecdotal notes, and I usually write down his
challenging behaviors with detailed records of what I observed him. A running record is the
second techniques that I frequently used to identify Silvanus s behaviors. Based on my ongoing
observations, I noticed Silvanus has lot of challenging behaviors. For instance, he uses his
shoulders to push his peers, and he usually grasps his classmate s toys while they are still using
those toys. He also runs around the classroom even his teachers encourage him to use walking feet
when he is inside of the classroom. He dumps toys on the floor, but he does not clean them up.
When the teachers ask him to clean his mess, he usually says wao, wao. Then, he pushes the
teachers and run away. In addition, he does not participate or sit still at the circle time, so he walks
around the classroom. He stands far away from the circle time, and looks at the teachers and his
peers. He has sensory disorder, so he doesn t let the teachers to change his diapers or clothes.
Therefore, he usually throws his body one the carpet whenever he is upset. Furthermore, he does
not follow the classroom s routine. He rarely waits for his turns to get in a line to wash hands.

Taking a Look at Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an acquired demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS)
that typically is diagnosed in the second or third decade of life. Normally, nerves are enclosed in
myelin sheaths that help facilitate transmission of nerve impulses within the CNS and the
peripheral nervous system throughout the body. In patients with MS, the myelinsheath is damaged
and eventually degenerates, causing patches of scar tissue called plaques or lesions to occur
anywhere randomly on the myelin sheath (Ruto, 2013). This results in impaired nerve conductivity,
which interferes with message transmission between the brain and the other parts of the body. As a
result, impulse transmission is altered, distorted, short circuited, or completely absent. This
interference in impulse transmission creates muscle weakness, muscle imbalance, and possibly
muscle spasms with partial or complete paralysis. Multiple sclerosisalso can result in visual
impairment and alteration of cognitive abilities, as well as pain, numbness, or tingling sensations
(Ruto, 2013). MS affects about 400,000 persons in the USA and approximately 2.1 million
worldwide. The average age of onset is between 20 40 years, although it can also occur in young
children and in people aged 50 years and more. It is estimated that the direct and indirect healthcare
costs of MS in the United States result in approximately $35,000 spent per year per patient.

Essay about Of Good Faith
And the Lord shall come down and with a fury never seen before and strike down all of you evil
sinners! This was an all too common way Reverend John Marwood would finish his sermons. He
was the reverend of a small town outside of Salem, and was known primarily for his harshness
and apathy towards the general public. Over the years of being a reverend, he became more and
more twisted by the power that came along with the title. He condemned the purest and noblest
people in the town of witchcraft. During his sermons, he would spit venomous words directed to
the congregation, saying how none of them will be saved in the afterlife. He was the most feared
and most disliked man in town. Brian Good was the newly appointed judge, and... Show more

Obviously, this woman is guilty! She has a mole on her nose, which is more than sufficient
proof to sentence her to hang! Reverend Marwood concluded his speech. This was Brian s
moment to start his revenge. That is all well and good, Reverend Marwood, but this woman is
obviously innocent. No one in town has ever accused her of sending her spirit out on anyone,
nor has she ever once done anything remotely questionable. Goody Langley, you are free to go.
On that note though, I have someone I would personally like to sentence. Who may it be? John
was perplexed. Why I am glad you asked John, for it is you. Reverend Marwood, you are hereby
stripped of your position as Reverend, and will be sentenced to death. This is all for your
wrongful imprisonments and hangings of the innocent people living in this town over the years,
including my dear sister! Judge Good screamed, then collected himself. Your execution will be set
one week from today. May the Lord have mercy on your soul, unlike you had with all of your
victims. This court is adjourned! Judge Good exclaimed with the heavy thud of his gavel. Even
though court was adjourned, everyone sat motionless, not believing what they had just heard. The

I Failed Two Accounting Courses
SMO411 Term Paper
Jenny Kim
11 12 2016
Introduction
Last year, I failed two accounting courses which were 400 levels. I tried to retake one of the
courses because my dad was pressuring me so hard that I should be able to understand much
better but I still could not understand the concepts and I found it really hard to catch up with the
class. Since this class was a prerequisite class for my major, I was very frustrated. I was getting so
much stress from my dad and the course that I had to retake. However, several days before I had to
take a midterm, I was overwhelmed and I was not ready to take an exam. I decided to withdraw
from a course because there was no way that I could handle 400 level accounting courses. Since I
failed two accounting courses before, I got an academic probation due to low grades. My dad
thought that I was still retaking one of the accounting courses. When I told him that I withdrew
from a course, he was very mad because I did not discuss this issue with him. I did not know why
I had to discuss with him while I was very stressed out. It was a tough decision for me to
withdraw from a course. I had to discuss with him about changing my major since I was in my last
year. Preparation Stage
The purpose of this stage is to help me use the information to prepare what can be my options if
the negotiation goes well or does not go well. Also, preparation stage also helps me to guess what
the other party s options can be and try to negotiate much better.

Petri Plate Discussion
To obtain some organisms, I took four samples from four different environments and put them
on a petri plate. The petri plate was then put in the incubator at 37В°C for forty eight hours
(Lammert, 2007). Out of four, samples A and D grew nothing and sample B had some growth
but not much. As a result I had to choose two unknown organism, that were possibly different,
from the third quadrant. This quadrant, which I refer to as sample C, was taken using a wet
swab on the border of my right shoe. From a spot where the white border had an orange tint. In
that quadrant, specimen Ca. came from a lone circular spot near the rim whereas specimen Cb.
came from a fibrous colony near the tip of the quadrant. To gather more information on the two
specimens, I incubated each specimen in a petri plate for forty eight hours at 37В°C. After, I
isolated each specimen using a streak plate and incubated them for twenty four hours at 37В°C
(Lammert, 2007). Using the petri plate, I determine that the specimen Ca. has an elevation, which I
considered in between raised and convex. I also notice that the specimen Ca. has a smooth texture
but does have small crack like patterns in it. After incubating the 27В°C and 37В°C temperature
plate, I observed that specimen Ca. has a lobate margin. From the petri plate for specimen Cb, I
determined that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Although for specimen Cb. I have determine that its optimum growth temperature is around
37В°C. As for specimen Ca. it must have an optimum growth temperature ranging between 27В°C
and 37В°C but closer to 37В°C. I have determined this range due to observing possible spores while

The Design Of Roman Aqueducts
The Design of Roman Aqueducts: Pont du Gard
Roman structures dominated the Roman values and power across the landscape of Europe. Many
of these structures, especially the aqueducts, show significant evidence of the Roman architecture
and engineering superiority. Not only that their structures are highly durable, standing
monumentally over thousands of years, the cleverness in the design of their water distribution
system is an achievement to be mesmerized, considering the 200 million gallons of water being
supplied daily to the city of Rome herself by the early 4th century AD . This essay will investigate
Pont du Gard as one of the most magnificent members of the Roman aqueducts, in regard to its
design processes, along with the technological issues in relation to the aqueduct design.
Pont du Gard functioned as an aqueduct bridge, a portion of the Nimes Aqueduct, delivering the
majority of the water supply to the city of Nemausus (Nimes, France), an important colonial city of
Rome. Its unarguably remarkable size, being over 49 m tall, makes it the biggest bridge the Roman
engineers had ever constructed, only a metre shorter than the Colosseum, and it is still standing
until today. Another important feature of this aqueduct is the maintenance of the gradient over the
distance of 50 km. The gradient over the whole course of the aqueduct is only a mere 0.034
percent and the actual gradient on the section downstream of Pont du Gard is no more than 7 mm
per 100 m. This

The United States And Wyoming Economy Essay
The crackling and popping of the large redwood finally falling was a sweet noise to my grandpa
Ray s tired arms. He stood back and watched with satisfaction as the tree began to fall away from
him, but as it fell the large tree hit the branch of another tree and instead of knocking over the
other tree or breaking the branch, this large tree was heading straight for him. He saw this and
stepped back to move out of the way and fell over a stump. He cried out in agony as the log fell
onto his leg. The happenings in the U.S. and Wyoming economy in the 90s and the conditions
my grandmother, Cindy Pittsley, faced caused her to move from Dubois to a few different
places before she settled in Glenrock and led her to where she is today. My grandmother, 62
today, has lived an eventful life very unknown to her 22 grandchildren. Most of us know she was
married to our grandfather, Ray Pittsley, at the young age of 16, however, before and after that is
mysterious. They settled in Dubois, Wyoming and raised a familyof three girls and two boys.
During their children s teens and twenties, my grandparents worked for the Louisiana Pacific
Sawmill in Dubois, Wyoming. This company logged in Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana and
created the job industry in these places. At the sawmill, my grandmother worked the post peeler. I
would generally work eight hours a day. It wasn t hard hard work, but it was work. Cindy would
go to work no matter the weather and no one would ever hear a grumble. While

Examples Of Evil In Macbeth
The definition of evil is profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity, especially when
regarded as a supernatural force. The readers see these qualities in the main character, Macbeth.
This play, written by William Shakespeare, starts off by portraying Macbeth as a hero who helped
to win the battle for Scotland; this is the first impression of Macbeth. Macbeth is not the only
character that readers see profound immorality in; evilis seen in the people around Macbeth as he
makes his journey to the throne.
First, evil is shown in Macbeth when he expresses that he is willing to do anything to obtain
complete power. After the war is won, Macbeth is told by the witches that he will be promoted
to Thane of Cawdor, and even has the opportunity to be king of Scotland. Macbeth is indeed
promoted to Thane of Cawdor and immediately gets anxious to be king, and right now. Macbeth
is willing to kill the current King Duncan to earn his throne. This evil deed is the first time we
see wickedness in Macbeth. Macbeth says, Stars hide your fires! Let not see my black and deep
desires (I. iv. 52 53). Macbeth is now admitting to his own evil thoughts. Macbeth s killing streak is
not over and he will not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second time readers see evil in Macbeth, is when Lady Macbeth tells her husband that he is
not a real man when he is questioning if killing the king is what he needs to do. Yet do I fear thy
nature; It is too full o th milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way: thou wouldst be great,
Art not without ambition, but without the illness should attend it (I. v. 2 7). Lady Macbeth is now
as greedy as her husband for the power. She is the one who convinces him to kill his first victim.
As the show goes on, her less strength and confidence about their reign seems to hinder. Lady
Macbeth ends up committing suicide because she cannot handle the guilt of all the dispare she and
her husband have placed on

Home Depot s Marketing Strategy Essay
The Home Depot s marketing strategy embraces the do it yourself (or DIY) consumers who
desire to perform household improvements, but who either are not experts in home improvement
or cannot afford to hire a construction professional. Former chief executive officer, Robert
Nardelli, restructured Home Depot in hopes to bring some big company muscle to the
entrepreneurial organization (which, with revenue of $46 billion in 2000, was sometimes
referred to as a $40 billion start up ) and put the retailer s growth on a secure foundation (Charan,
2014). Home Depot s current marketing strategy is also performance focused and has undeniably

The competitive strategy and the marketing functional strategy are tightly intertwined (Parnell,
2017). Home Depot, if it remains strategically focused, will not stop improving. It has the products
consumers need, providing them opportunities to do a variety of household projects, or skilled
employees who provide proficient advice about products, materials and techniques necessary to
perform DIY tasks. Competition that fuels Home Depot s strategic focus are direct competitors
such as Lowe s, Lumber Liquidators, Sherwin Williams and Tractor Supply Company, to name a
few. Home Depot s supply chain is getting more productive, resulting in better gross margins.
Inventory management is key to the company s operations. Each Home Depot store stocks about
30,000 to 40,000 different products. An enhanced selection of about 700,000 products is available
through the company s websites, www.homedepot.com and www.homedecorators.com (Soni,

Difference Between Adorno And Max Horkheimer
The Culture Industry Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer Theodor Adorno and Max
Horkheimer are known as two great critical theorists who are primarily known for their work The

members of the Frankfurt School, which was a group of scholars that were a part of the revival of
Marxist thought. Adorno and Horkheimer were third wave scholars of Marxist thought which
meant that they were concerned about the occurrence of the communist revolution. However, the
revolution never took off instead the spread of fascism and Hitler s regime occurred. Adorno and

A criticism made by Adorno and Horkheimer that is still relevant to the modern movie industry is
the criticism that the people at the top are no longer so interested in concealing
monopoly...Movies and radio need no longer pretend to be art (Adorno and Horkheimer). The
modern movie industry is an industry of commodities in sense, what this means is that the
movies produced today are produced simply as means for profit and not as form of art. As
Adorno and Horkheimer stated the movie makers distrust any manuscript which is not
reassuringly backed by a bestseller (Adorno and Horkheimer) this attitude can be seen by simply
observing the Avengers, Spider man and Transformers franchises. These types of movies are
given top priority at movie studios simply because they are movies with large target audiences
and the movie studios know that they will bring in mass amounts of profits. These types of
movies often lack substance of any kind for example take the Avengers franchise, the movie itself
has very little plot or characterization but it is still produced over and over again because it is a
source of revenue. This is an example of how new media technologies how what Adorno and
Horkheimer mean by when they say art is becoming a commodity (Adorno and Horkheimer).

Pirates Of The Caribbean Analysis
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, directed by Gore Verbinski, is one of the
most influential pieces of cinema in the disney movie franchise. The movie was well received
by the majority of people that viewed it. However, not everyone was as impressed with the
movie, like film critic Roger Ebert for example. While Ebert, at the time working as a film critic
for Chicago Sun Times, gave the movie three stars, there are some critiques that are incredibly
incorrect. The article focuses a lot on the stellar performances of Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush,
Jack Sparrow and Barbossa respectively, while making light of the respectable performance of
Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann. He also spends a good segment of his review bashing the
action scenes and deeming them pointless based on the plot of the movie. Overall, Roger Ebert
believes the movie was decent, but went on for far too long, calling it, a nice little 90 minute B
movie trapped inside the 143 minutes of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
(rogerebert.com). There is an argument to be made about Roger Ebert s rollercoaster ride of a
review on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, especially concerning his
opinions on the performances of some of the actors and the fighting. While the performances of
Geoffrey Rush and Johnny Depp were indeed marvelous, Roger Ebert s opinion on the
performance of Keira Knightley could not be more wrong. Ebert describes her

Differences Of Crito By Plato And Leviathan By Hobbes
Theodore Roosevelt once said, justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in
finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong. Justice is a term that
comes from the Latin word jus, which means right. The word justice, according to the Oxford
Dictionary, is defined as just behavior or treatment, quality of being fair and reasonable, and the
administration of the law or authority in maintaining this. There are many concepts linked with the
term, and many different ways it is presented in different cultures and societies. It is believed that
one of the early theorists was none other than the famous Ancient Greek philosopher, Plato. His

He has always lived by the follow the dictates of reason, which is understandable. But Hobbes
explanation of nature of man craving power, Socrates seems to be portraying the opposite. He is
just accepting the fate of execution. Although, when Crito first brought up the plan to escape,
he dismissed it, but with Crito s persuasion, we can see Socrates give escaping a thought. But
then when he goes through the consequences of escaping, he decides that he would rather settle
with the consequences, no matter if it is just or unjust. When Socrates considered escaping
prison with Crito s help and persuasion, we see Hobbes claim of power is what everyone craves
coming into play. By escaping Socrates will be able to gain the freedom and power, while
deserting the injustice he was going to face. But in the end, Crito was not able to coerce
Socrates enough to gain the self justice. Through both of these reading, we see the connection of
Hobbes claim and the story of Socrates. Hobbes says that everyone craves power, and we see that
through Socrates and his enemies, but we can also see the opposite of the claim when Socrates
chooses to stay in prison and face the consequences of execution. There are many situations just
like Socrates faced, in which some are wrongfully punished because others decision and need to

everyday life to calm down, to have fun, but do they really know the progress it takes to make
those songs, to sing them? There is a progress leading up to making the perfect song. Like the
voice pitch, the warm ups so the voice isn t scratchy, but is warmed up and ready for singing, and
the type of genre that the artist is singing. There are many different types of voice tones. Like,

Is it rap, pop, opera? Exactly we need to know, but how many genres are there? Well there s rap/hip
hop music, it isn t really sung more like saying something really fast with a cool beat. Pop is
written songs from the heart based on a tune of the artists choice with meaningful lyrics at times.
Opera is good when singing if a Soprano, Soprano one, or Soprano two. Because of how high the
voice is, but for when it s good for how low the voice is. Country music, well that s another story.
Country is like a mix of all types of voice ranges made into a good song about drinking and
heartbreak. Like Carrie Underwood is a country singer and her voice range is a Soprano. And as for
Luke Bryan he is also a country singer and he is a High Baritone. So as we can see everyone has a

Black Power By Stokely Carmichael
Almost fifty years ago members of the Black Panther Party, carrying shotguns and rifles, marched
into the California State Capitol to protest the Mumford Bill, which would soon severely restrict
their right to carry around these weapons. Months before this show de force, which would soon
become one of the most famous historical depictions of the Black Powerera, reporters and
government agents had already began to follow each and every step of Stokely Carmichael,
chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordination Committee. Carmichael, who had popularized
the slogan Black Power in mid June of 1966, polarized the nation. The media, which largely
portrayed him as an irresponsible proponent of violence over his failure to distance himself from...

Recent scholarship has challenged this notion by scrutinizing the high level of racial discrimination
and segregation that existed in the city despite the lack of codified Jim Crow legislation. Hence, an
examination of the patterns that shaped the reactions to Carmichael s visit, especially those of the
local racial etiquette, which might have been compounded by the fact that Nashville is the capital
of Tennessee, will contribute to our understanding of the local framing of the Black liberation
struggle in the later half of the 1960s. Moreover, scholars have shown that the outsider theme has
been a common and popular notion in regulating and reinforcing the racial status quo in Nashville
and in other place around the nation. Hence, an examination of the complex nature of local
opposition to Black Power has the potential to increase our understanding about the exploits of the
resistance to Carmichael s presence in Music City. Contrary to what most of the literature on the
Black Power movement suggests, the radicals criticism cannot be reduced to a contestation and
negation of the legitimacy of prominent civil rights leadership or White society, it also entailed a
condemnation of the power structure and the lack of solidarity within the Black community.

The Revolution Of The Videogame Industry
There was a brilliant revolution in the videogame industry. The only brilliant thing to occur in this

How Education Has Changed Over The Years
Todays education has changed in many ways over the years. From the behavior of student s
caused by different parenting skills, how teachers teach their classes as well as student s ability to
use fundamentals, media and technology all play a role in how the world of education has evolved.
Robin Lawrence a thirteen year veteran teacher now a curriculum specialist at Bellaire Elementary
has a good insight into how the educational system has changed over time.
Past and present behavior have differed between the generations. Behavior in the past was much
better. In the past children did not have adult problems placed on them. Past parents had better
control to allow their children to be young. Past generations of parents did not have a lack of
parenting skills. Children were allowed to be carefree, unlike in the present day generations.
Today s generations have adult problems caused by poor or lack of parenting and therefore their
behavior reflect this. The poor behavior of today s generations has affected their education. The
poor behavior of one student affects the whole class. Mrs. Lawrence stated, Student behavior was
much better when I attended school than the behaviors I see in students present day. When asking
Mrs. Lawrence why she felt that student s behavior was better in the past than in the present she
stated that Students have so many adult burdens placed on then it is very difficult for them to be a
child. Poor/ lack of parenting has been a major factor in

What are accounting standards? Accounting standards are authoritative statements of how
particular types of transaction and other events should be reflected in financial statements.
Accordingly, compliance with accounting standards will normally be necessary for financial
statements to give a true and fair view. Accounting standards issued by the Accounting
Standards Board are designated Financial Reporting Standards (or FRSs). Those issued by its
predecessor bodies, and adopted by the Board when it was created in 1990, are designated
Statements of Standard Accounting Practice (or SSAPs). Adoption by the Board gave the
SSAPs the status of accounting standards within the terms of Part VII of the Companies Act
1985. The Board reviews these SSAPs individually as appropriate opportunities arise during the
course of its work: so far, of the 22 SSAPs adopted in 1990, four have been withdrawn and
superseded by FRSs. For example the statement that talk about the disclosure of accounting policies
is now called FRS 18. Five more are in the process of withdrawal. Are accounting standards
mandatory? Company s legislation does not directly require compliance with accounting standards.
However, the Companies Act 1985 requires accounts (other than those prepared by small or

South Beach Diet Study
Introduction The South Beach Diet, which originated with Dr. Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist,
began as a response to the growing rate of heart disease patients in the United States. He found that
many of the fad diets were focused on high carbohydrates, which were not affecting the type of
weight loss needed to reduce heart disease. The center, or heart of the diet, is focused on healthy
lifestyle living, and maintenance around nutritional choices. The South Beach diet focuses on three
phases: Phase one is the kickoff to weight loss; eliminating all carbohydrates. Phase two focuses on
the re introduction to carbohydrates; making healthier carb choices. Phase three is about diet

This seems simple enough but the vast majority of people today jump on fad diets due to their
lack of resources and time. They want the quickest way to lose weight fast. The diet does not
involve additional supplementation or specific exercise routines. The diet itself is continually
changing due to new research and frequently asked questions from dieters. In fact the creator of
the South Beach Diet, Dr. Arthur Agatston, provides a website where subscribers can ask
questions and read up on new changes. Critics of the diet argue that the diet does not stress
exercise as much as it should. Dr. Agatston states that only 20 minutes of exercise a day is
enough while on this diet. The critics argue that of those trying to lose weight, 20 minutes is not
enough; especially for those who are already out of shape (Mercola Vaszily, 2007). The South
Beach Diet s mainstay is that through smart food choices, the dieter can maintain his or her
weight. A Case for Legitimacy? Along with the South Beach diet, there are literally hundreds of
other diet programs on the market that supposedly offer a healthy weight loss solution to the
dieter. However, most of these, including the South Beach diet, are considered fad diets simply for
the fact that most of the people that go on them only stay on them a short period of time. Because
of this fact, the legitimacy of these diets must be questioned. In the case of

The aim is to tighten political control and get Internet users to censor themselves by bringing them
face to face with their censors or their agents. (Anonymous) Reporters without Boarders further

(Anonymous) Reporters Without Borders is further stating that someone who might talk about
something the government might find questionable will not do it at all if that person is met by
someone who could put them in prison. On the other hand, the US does not actively regulate the

Twelfth Night Duality
In Act 1, Scene 2 of Twelfth Night, as Viola lays down her plans before the captain, she speaks
about a major theme of the play: the way a person seems outwardly versus their true self. Viola
says she is aware people cannot be trusted based on their looks, but trusts the captain. She then
requests his help so she can be dressed as a boy for the remainder of the play. The way she
behaves also hits on another theme, the contrast between people that can act as a balance.
Through comparison, she can be seen as a counterbalance to Sebastian in the way they both
conduct themselves. The majority of the characters have a twin of their own to act as a sort of
foil. Exploring this passage (1.2.96 108) will help see the double themes of duality that... Show

As if extending the idea of the twins, Viola and Sebastian, nearly everyone seems to have their
complementary twin. As mentioned earlier, Viola takes charge and makes her own plans while
Sebastian seems to operate on whims. There is also a difference in their outlooks. Viola is easily
assured that her brother may still be alive, while Sebastian is certain his sister is dead. Olivia and
Orsino also act as the counterbalance to one another. While both are absorbed in their own
melancholy moods, Orsino does it for the love he desires and Olivia does it for loved ones she s
lost. Despite their opposing approaches towards wooing, they both end up with a love of their
own. Another interesting counterbalance is between the captain and Antonio. The captain
saved Viola, but after accepting money to help her, he went his separate way, never expressing
feelings for her. In contrast, Antonio rescued Sebastian, then gave him money and followed
him, all the while expressing love for him. Then there is Sir Toby and Malvolio, perhaps two of
the most evident opposites in the play because of the way Malvolio actively opposes Sir Toby.
Malvolio is somber and serious. He wants people to respect him and kisses up to Olivia. Sir
Toby, however, is more of a clown than Feste, staying up to all hours of the night, drinking and
carelessly waking the house with his singing. Malvolio does what he can to seem above his
station, but Sir Toby does not worry what others think and often seems below his station. Though,

The modern era stands out as a time of great change. Throughout history, it is undoubtedly the
period of time in which the most advancement has occurred in society, in the shortest amount of
time. The three books, The Interesting Narrative, by Olaudah Equiano, Victors and Vanquished,
by Stuart B. Schwartz, and A Social Contract, by Jean Jeacques Rousseau, each provide a view of
the modern era in their own individual ways. Olaudah Equiano s account of his life as a slave is

Olaudah s writing includes his own take on slavery, and in the conclusion of his book, he
reveals his appeal to the public in order to end slavery. He argues on several bases which would
appeal to the public of modern society. He gives them the account of slavery s horrors, and then
takes on moral, economical, religious, and lawful standpoints, in order to persuade the public that
slavery is an ill to society, especially in a time of positive growth.
Olaudah wrote a revised introduction to his readers,
Pumarejo 3
stating that his purpose, or rather the purpose of his book, is to, be the means, in it s measure,
of showing the enormous cruelties practiced on my sable brethren, and strengthening the
genuine emulation now prevailing in this country, to put a speedy end to a traffic both cruel
and unjust. (Equiano 1745, 5) This is written after the book s first release, and shows the
purpose of his writing, referring to the effect it has had on the fight for slavery s abolishment. In
his writings, Olaudah challenges the practice of slavery by an appeal to the senses. His story is
obviously one of horror, and through telling it he hopes that the readers will evoke in themselves
compassion towards his calling. He admits that his case is a rare one, and alludes to the greater
horrors that many other slaves were forced to endure.
I think the most interesting, and relevant, arguments that Olaudah makes, is not on the basis of the
horrible treatment

feet wide and eleven feet tall, and was placed at the entrance to Spain s pavilion. Picasso did not do

At the extreme right, a woman is falling and has not yet hit the ground. Further left, a woman is
picking herself up after falling. The horse in the center is fatally wounded and will soon die. To
the far left, the child in his mother s arms has already died, and so has the warrior whose head rests
at the bottom of the mural. But again, the strong right to left movement arises from the direction in
which the subjects are looking.
Guernica is monochromatic to make its imagery more powerful. Lack of color keeps the viewer
focused on the subject matter at hand, as well as keeping the mural cold, which agrees with its
general theme of injustice in war. Also, Picasso s flat imagery does not distract the viewer from
concentrating on imagery. The viewer is given no other choice than to concentrate on the subject
matter of Guernica and ponder it s meaning. The flat, grayscale images generalize the imagery and
contribute to the general theme of unnecessary suffering and tragedy.
At the extreme right of Picasso s mural, a woman is falling from a burning building. Flames
appear to be spewing from the top of that building. The flames consist triangles with different
values of gray. The same lighttriangles are coming from the woman s dress. Her arms flail
upwards as she falls, and it is her fall that draws the eye downward and moves the viewer through
the work. Below lies the woman picking herself up off the

Why did War break out between Scotland and England in the Reign of Edward I?
On the 14th of May 1264, the forces of Simon de Montfort, Gloucester and the Londoners were
set arrayed against the loyalist forces of King Henry III, Richard of Cornwall and Prince Edward
(later to become King Edward I). The loyalists suffered a massive defeat at this Battle of Lewes
and among those captured, aside from Richard of Cornwall and perhaps the King (Prestwich
indicates the unsure nature of the King s capture 46), were the northern barons (Scottish lords) of
Balliol, Bruce and Comyn. (Jenks 132) Prince Edward also became a hostage as part of an exchange

The Cult Of True Womanhood In The 19th Century
Throughout all of history there has a been a very important question that many have tried to answer.
What is the role of women in society? In the 19th century, the Cult of Domesticity, also known as
the Cult of True Womanhood, was introduced as an attempt to answer this question. The Cult of
True Womanhood introduced a set of beliefs about genderroles that became so widely popular they
could be found in magazines, newspapers, and throughout all of the famous cultures. Our modern
21st century still recognizes and practices the three factors of purity, submissiveness, and
domesticity, which were greatly upheld by the cult.
Purity is the impression that a True WomanWaits. For the duration of the 19th century a female was
not considered a woman without her sexual purity. Females were seen as fallen woman
unworthy of love and unfit for their company if they did not wait until marriage to have sexual
intercourse. Young ladies were told that they must guard their treasure (virginity) with their life.
During this time, a woman s only power was her sexual virtue for the man bears rule over his
wife s person and conduct. She bears rule over his inclinations: he governs by law; she by
persuasion... [her] empire [is her] softness, her commands are caresses . This notion created a new
purity fetish in which Americans began to talk about limbs instead of legs and white meat rather
than breast meat. Women began covering their furnisher legs with fabric so no one will be

Rehearsal
Memory is a vital area of study. The continuing research conducted in fields such as: psychology
and neuroscience can bring insight that will someday pilot discoveries in new ways to enhance
memory and find treatments or cures to disorders such as Alzheimer, PTSD or memory loss.
Additionally the study of memory and its effects on learning is equally important to research for
some of the very same reasons.
One of the many key questions in the research of memory and learning is what can be done to
improve it and what triggers encoding into memory to help one learn better. One of the most
common methods to increase memory is rehearsal (Rundus, 1971). Rehearsal involves the repeating
of information in order to process the information and store it into memory to recall later. There are
two types of rehearsal; maintenance and elaborative. Maintenance rehearsal is simply repeating
something without thinking about it. This will add the information into short term or working
memory. Elaborative rehearsal transfers information into long term memory. You have to think
about the information and connect a meaning to it in order for this transfer to happen.
In studying the literature regarding memory and learning there is birth of another method of
memory improvement on the rise. It begins with a 1972 study conducted by Hopkins and Edwards.

Schedule Policy For Dialysis Patients
Schedule Policy for Dialysis Patients
The wait times of dialysis patients before and after hemodialysis treatments have been an area of
concern. In a typical morning at an outpatient dialysis clinic, all the patients for the first shift will
begin to gather in a waiting room just prior to a specific time. I will use the start time of 7:00 a.m.
for example. The nurses and patient care staff will arrive a considerable amount of time earlier to
prepare for the oncoming shift of patients. At 7:00 a.m., the nurse in charge will begin calling each
patient in one at a time. An assessment is done. The patient is weighed. His/her lungs are listened
to. Many specific questions are asked. A treatment goal is determined based on protocols. Then,
the assessment data is entered into a networked computer system, which is retrieved at a specific
station for a particular patient. This process continues until every station in the clinic is full.
Typically, a clinic will hold anywhere from 12 to 30 stations. For this example, I will use a 20
station clinic.
Target population There are many Chronic Renal Failure patients who are elderly and have
additional diseases, such as diabetes, chronic pain, and others. Many of these patients have to wait
as much as an hour to an hour and a half before and after treatments. The lack of policy and the
absence of close management of this schedule may potentially put at risk patients in greater danger.
Instead of patients being in the clinic

The Transit Agreement Between Bangladesh And India Essay
Transit is generally the making of mutually beneficial arrangements for the use of waterways, roads
and railways for bilateral trade and passage of goods between two countries or two places in one
countrythrough the territory of the other. This system is not very uncommon since many countries
in the world give transit to others for economic and political development and some countries like
Egypt,Singapore,Russia is making a huge money through this system
Transit Agreement between Bangladesh and India:
Through Protocol on Inland Water Transit and Trade in 1972 (PIWTT) between India and
Bangladesh, India was using Chittagong port for trade since then. For easier trade, India was
demanding transit facilities from Bangladesh but the BNP government was not providing that
facilities at their time.AfterAwami League came into power the request for transit became louder
and when Sheikh Hasina visited India in 2010, discussion was taken place about transit. It was
almost final that during Manmahan Singh visit of Bangladesh in 2011 the agreement would be
signed. But complications with MamataBanerjee(Chief Minister of West Bengal) regarding Teesta
agreement created obstacle. In 2015 this agreement has been signed since NarendiModi solved
1974 land boundary agreement(Bhorer Kagoj,6 june 2015)
According to this transit through Bangladesh India will be able to transport to their land locked
north eastern parts and Bangladesh with Nepal and Bhutan through India. The sea and river ports to

Ragtime And Scott Joplin s Opera Treemonisha
Ragtime is a musical genre in African American communities that was popular between 1895 and
1918. But ragtime became more popular with the revival in the 1970 s with Joshua Rifkin s album
Scott Joplin: Piano Rags, and the motion picture The Sting, along with the first complete
performance of Scott Joplin s opera Treemonisha. The musicin Treemonisha and Scott Joplin s
piano rags are considered to both be in the genre of ragtime, but they both not alike and have many
different components to them such as texture, mood, and purpose. Ragtime comes from jigs and
marches that were played by African American bands and started to become popular in North
America by the 20th century. It was also based off of John Philip Sousa marches with additional
polyrhythms (rhythms that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This production had Marvin Hamlisch soundtrack of some of Joplin s tunes. Joplin s tune The
Entertainer won an Academy Award and was released as a single from the film s soundtrack and
was rated as a top ten chart single. This movie was able to bring ragtime to a wide audience and
encouraged praise for Joplin s works. Around 1910, when Joplin finished Treemonisha and
started showing it around, he got into some copyright trouble. While he was showing it around,
trying to get it published some one stole the theme. Now to get his opera published he had to
rewrite it. Irving Berlin s Alexander s Ragtime Band stole the theme for the closing song in the
Treemonisha opera, a Slow Drag, so Joplin changed some of it and renamed it A Real Slow
Drag. Scott Joplin s piece The Entertainer was also a ragtime piece written in 1902. It was also
part of the ragtime revival and was used as the theme music for The Sting. Its one of the pieces
featured on Joshua Rifkin s Scott Joplin: Piano Rags album. And because of its new popularity, it
was also known to be played on ice cream trucks in the United

Pink Floyd and the Wall
Discussing Pink Floyd and The Wall
Rock Opera
Pink Floyd s the Wall is arguably one of the most intriguing and imaginative albums in the
history of rock music. Since its release in 1979, and the subsequent movie of 1982, the Wall has
become synonymous with, if not the very definition of, the term concept album. Aurally
explosive on record and visually explosive on the screen, the Wall traces the life of the fictional
protagonist, Pink Floyd, from his boyhood days in war torn England to his self imposed isolation
as a world renowned rock star, leading to a climax that is as questionably cathartic as it is
destructive.
From the outset, Pink s life revolves around an abyss of loss and isolation. Born to a ... Show more

The Wall is a stunning synthesis of Waters familiar thematic obsessions: the brutal misanthropy of
Pink Floyd s last LP, Animals Dark Side of the Moon s sour, middle aged cynicism, the surprisingly
shrewd perception that the music business is a microcosm of institutional opportunity, Wish You
were Here, and the dread of impending psychoses that runs through all these records. There is a
strongly felt antiwar sentiment that dates way back to 1968 s A Saucerful of Secrets. However,
where Animals, for instance, suffered from self centered smugness, the even more abject The Wall
leaps to life with a relentless lyrical rage that is clearly genuine. .
Fashioned as a kind of circular maze (the last words on side four begin a sentence completed by
the first words on side one), The Wall offers no exit except madness from a world malevolently
bent on crippling its citizens at every level of endeavor. The process for those of Waters generation,
at least begins at birth with the smothering distortions of mother love. Then there are some vaguely
remembered upheavals from the wartime Blitz:
Did you ever wonder
Why we had to run for shelter
When the promise of a brave new world
Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?
In government run schools, children are methodically tormented and humiliated by teachers whose
comeuppance occurs when they go home at

Oppression Within The Social Workers
Social workers are often on the forefront in the fight against any form of oppression as against
the marginalized society. These demanding but oftentimes unappreciated efforts are often
addressed through the conscious use of skills and knowledge of the problems being solved
against. When such oppression is however committed against them within the organization
where they work, the social worker seems to be mum about the situation, or their efforts perhaps
are rendered inutile. North America social workers experience this form of oppression within
the social service institution. For this reason, I examine the arguments why the social workers
need to be aware of the existence of this unique form of oppression. In order to eliminate
oppression in the social welfare workplace, the social workers, in their pursuit of social change,
must have a competent understanding of the theory around racism and oppression. Racism, as a
social construct, historically and generally creates a generalization based on the culture, ethnicity,
or any objective attributes of a person. Oppression, which is a modern category of racism, is the
use of any form of power to dis empower, marginalize, silence, or otherwise subordinate one social
group, usually to further empower and/or privilege the oppressor. Although oppression can be
defined as a concept, creating a clear definition of what constitutes anti oppression becomes a
challenge even though much as been discussed about it. Much of it has to do

Is Homicide Ever Justified Essay
Is homicide ever justified? Ordinarily no, but in certain circumstances committing a homicide can
be excused due to insanity or be justified because the situation called for self defense or the
defense of others. As with many aspects of the law, there can be ambiguity present about whether
or not a crime meets the criteria of an excuse or justification, as we have seen in the State v.
Norman 378 S.E.2d 8 (1989) case. At issue in the case is whether the danger that the defendant,
Judy Ann Laws Norman, felt was imminent in order to justify the homicide she committed when
she shot her husband. I believe Norman s actions were justified when she shot her husband given
the extensive instances of domestic abuse that her husband inflicted on her over the course of the

Does the store clerk go to prison for manslaughter? Let s break this situation down into its smaller
parts to better understand why this hypothetical situation is clear cut self defense. The threat was
imminent and present as soon as the perpetrator threatened the clerk and the threat continued to
exist throughout the entire situation until the perpetrator was killed. The perception of the threat
was reasonable since any reasonable person would feel in danger if someone brandished a gun at
them. Finally, the store clerk was entitled to use deadly force to defend himself since the
perpetrator was using deadly force as leverage in the situation. In conclusion, the situation contains
all of the elements of self defense and the store clerk cannot face legal repercussions for the death
of the perpetrator. In my analysis of the homicide that took place in the State v. Norman 378 S.E.2d
8 (1989) case, I find that the situation that occurred is analogous to the store clerk versus the

Raskolnikov Foil
Gentry Hale
Raskolnikov is a proud and intellectual man who believes that he is extraordinary enough to
break all social rules and moral standards if he thinks that it will further humanity. Sonia is a shy
and timorous girl who is a devout Christian and is so dedicated to her family that she is willing
to do anything to help them. Sonia s humility and meekness help Raskolnikov to realize that he
may not be as remarkable as he believes. Fyodor Dostoevsky uses Sonia as a foil towards
Raskolnikov, in his novel Crime and Punishment, because she helps him to overcome his pride and
confess to his crime. Sonia and Raskolnikov are both communal outcasts because of the social
injustices that they have committed. Sonia resorted to prostitution ... Show more content on

He immediately convinced himself that it was a sign that he must commit the murder the next
night. The use of coincidence and environment as self justification shows that he feels guilty and
needs validation for his crimes. He cannot turn to God like Sonia because he is a selfish man and
repenting means that he must admit to himself that he had done wrong. Instead of feeling
disappointment in himself he will blame his actions on the world around him. Raskolnikov
askes Sonia to read him a passage out of the Bible and she reads him the story of Lazarus. He
acts as if he does not believe in the story, but he is moved by it. The rising of Lazarus from the
dead is a parallel to Raskolnikovs separation from the world. He relates to this story because his
pride alienates him from those that love him. He longs to be like Lazarus and to be reborn, and
his pride begins to waiver. When he works up the humility to confess to Sonia, she offers him a
cross. He begins to accept it and then quickly gives it back. Although he did not take the cross, he
considered it. In this instance Raskolnikov was able to confess to his crime, even if only to Sonia,
and he almost accepts her religious offering. She is making an impact on his conscious and his
pride is

Part 1: Christian World View According to Del Tackett s article on the Focus on the Family
website, a person with a Biblical world view believes his primary reason for existence is to love and
serve God (Tackett, 2012). Barna Research Group asks the following questions to determine if a
person has a Biblical worldview: Do absolute moral truths exist? Is absolute truth defined by the
Bible? Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life? Is God the all powerful and all knowing Creator of the
universe, and does He still rule it today? Is salvation a gift from God that cannot be earned? Is
Satan real? Does a Christian have a responsibility to share his ... Show more content on

A Christian who has a real Christian worldview should measure what they do in their personal
and professional life against what the Bible says and how the Holy Spirit leads us. This will allow
us to make sure that our Biblical worldview does not get too much of the world within it.

Bedtime Stories As Told By Our Dad Who Messed Them Up
This past December I had the honor of being a clown for Perry High School s children show,
Bedtime Stories As Told by Our Dad Who Messed Them Up which means I watched the show
three different times excluding dress rehearsal and any practices I attended. Two performances
were held on December 1st and one performance was presented on December 2nd. On Friday,
December 1st children from Perry Elementary schools and St. Joan of Arc were bussed to the
high school to watch the show. The clowns were given the job of seating these energetic excited
little youngsters who were hilarious and so interactive. Every time one of the actors would ask an
open ended question the kids would shout what they thought the answer was. There was one
moment when one of the characters was trying to figure out Rumpelstiltskin s name so she listed
names which could be correct. Most of the kids shouted No! when she would list a name but there
was one kid in the back who kept on shouting his name and the clowns in the back were cracking
up. Despite all the distractions coming from the audience, the performers did a great job staying in

There were definitely fewer people at the Saturday showing and the atmosphere seemed different
than it did the day before. I believe this was the case because there was a larger number of adults
which probably made the kids feel less free to show their bubbly enthusiasm. My fellow clowns
and I also felt a bit more awkward because there were fewer kids to entertain and there were a few
preteens and teenagers who most likely thought we looked really stupid. The performers didn t let
the lack of involvement slow them down and put on an incredible

Being Back To School
It s great being back to school. Although I m not too fond of getting up early in the morning I do
prefer to be busy with school than stay at home doing nothing the whole time. I m a new student
at College Park Middle School. I m glad to say that I like being one of your students and I will be
counting on you to teach me. I hope we can get along through this schoolyear. I was born in the
Philippines which is an island in Asia on the year of 2002. I lived there with my grandparents,
aunts, and uncles till I was two years old. My mom came back to the Philippines and flew me to
Korea with her. There I met Shawn, my dad. A few years on 2007 my little brother, Donovan,
was born. In 2009 we moved to Texas and lived there up to 2016. During that time my second
little brother, Jonathan, was born on 2013. My mom saved up enough money to bring her parents
from the Philippines to come live with us and help us take care of my two younger brothers and I

  • 2. Jeeps-A way of Life Since 1941 The very first Jeep was created in 1941. This Jeep was known as the Military Bantam AKA the MB Jeep. The United States Department of War needed a new light, cross country, reconnaissance vehicle. Therefore an American automobile company called Willy s Overland and Motors created the Army s new vehicle. This vehicle was a 2.2L engine, 4 wheel drive, 2 door, with a 3 speed manual transmission Jeep. The Willy s Jeep another name for the MB was also a Вј ton vehicle that was the top of the line military technology. Jeeps were essential to transportation of military soldiers and equipment to designated spots. With this amazing help of the Jeep, the army was getting to its peak in World War II. Jeeps grabbed my attention and interest because not only do I own one, but I believe the iconic history of Jeeps is amazing. It amazes me that this small vehicle can have such a huge impact on history as becoming the World War II Vehicle . Jeeps have inspired other similar light utility vehicles and are the oldest off road vehicleever made. Jeeps also have a huge impact on today s modern society. Jeeps bring society together. Jeep people have a slang term for themselves called Jeepers . Within today s society there are Jeep Clubs. The aftermath of the Military Bantam Jeep, the Civilian Jeep, was another start to the legacy of Jeeps. In 1944 the CJ was brought to life with in the Jeep world. Along with all of its other brothers in the military this was the first Jeep to be used in public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Foot powder was most surprising to me. This also shows us how much these soldiers had to travel in the war. In what sense does Jimmy love Martha? Why does he construct this elaborate, mostly fictional, relationship with her: What does this reveal about his character? The sense Jimmy loves Martha is that she gives him perseverance. Martha is the thing that makes Jimmy get through the war, she s like Jimmy s rock she gives him the motivation to be with her. Why do the soldiers tell jokes about the war?About killing? I think soldiers joke to help cope what they re facing out there in the war. Also, to stay in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... THE STRATEGIES What is significant about the poncho in paragraph 2? What effect is created by its use? The significance of the poncho explains how Ted was shot and how he was brought to the helicopter in a poncho. This is a fast way to bring up death and sadness into a part of the story. In paragraph 11 O Brien talks about unweighed fear . What does he mean by that? How does that further the theme of the text? Unweighted fear includes all of the bad memories that were made during the war as well as the good memories of the war. This furthers the theme because we are introduced to physical burden but as the story progress, we slowly see mental burden are being introduced. what tone is established by the last sentence of paragraph 13?The tone in the last paragraph is somewhat nostalgic because Jimmy is replaying memories of Martha and imaging new incidents as his way to escape war and work. What effect is created by the use of rhetorical questions in paragraph 18? The rhetorical questions further describe how no one wanted to go down the tunnel. Furthermore, rhetorical question creates a sense of paranoia because the tunnel wasn t as bad as they anticipated. How would you characterize the diction O Brien uses? What is the effect the word choice he uses? O Brien word choice emphasizes the hard work of the soldier. Also, the use of rhetorical question helps us understand the thought process of a soldier THE ISSUES How did you view warfare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Observation Techniques In A Case Study Of Silvanus s... While working in this case study, I use different types of observation techniques in order to gather information needed to evaluate Silvanus s challenging behavior in my case study. The first observation method I am using now is anecdotal notes, and I usually write down his challenging behaviors with detailed records of what I observed him. A running record is the second techniques that I frequently used to identify Silvanus s behaviors. Based on my ongoing observations, I noticed Silvanus has lot of challenging behaviors. For instance, he uses his shoulders to push his peers, and he usually grasps his classmate s toys while they are still using those toys. He also runs around the classroom even his teachers encourage him to use walking feet when he is inside of the classroom. He dumps toys on the floor, but he does not clean them up. When the teachers ask him to clean his mess, he usually says wao, wao. Then, he pushes the teachers and run away. In addition, he does not participate or sit still at the circle time, so he walks around the classroom. He stands far away from the circle time, and looks at the teachers and his peers. He has sensory disorder, so he doesn t let the teachers to change his diapers or clothes. Therefore, he usually throws his body one the carpet whenever he is upset. Furthermore, he does not follow the classroom s routine. He rarely waits for his turns to get in a line to wash hands. As Brault and Brault (2005) have noted, The BRAULT Behavior ... • 5. Taking a Look at Multiple Sclerosis Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an acquired demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that typically is diagnosed in the second or third decade of life. Normally, nerves are enclosed in myelin sheaths that help facilitate transmission of nerve impulses within the CNS and the peripheral nervous system throughout the body. In patients with MS, the myelinsheath is damaged and eventually degenerates, causing patches of scar tissue called plaques or lesions to occur anywhere randomly on the myelin sheath (Ruto, 2013). This results in impaired nerve conductivity, which interferes with message transmission between the brain and the other parts of the body. As a result, impulse transmission is altered, distorted, short circuited, or completely absent. This interference in impulse transmission creates muscle weakness, muscle imbalance, and possibly muscle spasms with partial or complete paralysis. Multiple sclerosisalso can result in visual impairment and alteration of cognitive abilities, as well as pain, numbness, or tingling sensations (Ruto, 2013). MS affects about 400,000 persons in the USA and approximately 2.1 million worldwide. The average age of onset is between 20 40 years, although it can also occur in young children and in people aged 50 years and more. It is estimated that the direct and indirect healthcare costs of MS in the United States result in approximately $35,000 spent per year per patient. Multiple sclerosis affects women more ... This was an all too common way Reverend John Marwood would finish his sermons. He was the reverend of a small town outside of Salem, and was known primarily for his harshness and apathy towards the general public. Over the years of being a reverend, he became more and more twisted by the power that came along with the title. He condemned the purest and noblest people in the town of witchcraft. No one in town has ever accused her of sending her spirit out on anyone, nor has she ever once done anything remotely questionable. Goody Langley, you are free to go. • 7. I Failed Two Accounting Courses SMO411 Term Paper Jenny Kim 11 12 2016 Introduction Last year, I failed two accounting courses which were 400 levels. I tried to retake one of the courses because my dad was pressuring me so hard that I should be able to understand much better but I still could not understand the concepts and I found it really hard to catch up with the class. Since this class was a prerequisite class for my major, I was very frustrated. I was getting so much stress from my dad and the course that I had to retake. However, several days before I had to take a midterm, I was overwhelmed and I was not ready to take an exam. I decided to withdraw from a course because there was no way that I could handle 400 level accounting courses. Since I failed two accounting courses before, I got an academic probation due to low grades. My dad thought that I was still retaking one of the accounting courses. When I told him that I withdrew from a course, he was very mad because I did not discuss this issue with him. I did not know why I had to discuss with him while I was very stressed out. It was a tough decision for me to withdraw from a course. I had to discuss with him about changing my major since I was in my last year. As a result I had to choose two unknown organism, that were possibly different, from the third quadrant. This quadrant, which I refer to as sample C, was taken using a wet swab on the border of my right shoe. From a spot where the white border had an orange tint. In that quadrant, specimen Ca. came from a lone circular spot near the rim whereas specimen Cb. came from a fibrous colony near the tip of the quadrant. To gather more information on the two specimens, I incubated each specimen in a petri plate for forty eight hours at 37В°C. After, I isolated each specimen using a streak plate and incubated them for twenty four hours at 37В°C (Lammert, 2007). Using the petri plate, I determine that the specimen Ca. has an elevation, which I considered in between raised and convex. I also notice that the specimen Ca. has a smooth texture but does have small crack like patterns in it. • 9. The Design Of Roman Aqueducts The Design of Roman Aqueducts: Pont du Gard Roman structures dominated the Roman values and power across the landscape of Europe. Many of these structures, especially the aqueducts, show significant evidence of the Roman architecture and engineering superiority. Not only that their structures are highly durable, standing monumentally over thousands of years, the cleverness in the design of their water distribution system is an achievement to be mesmerized, considering the 200 million gallons of water being supplied daily to the city of Rome herself by the early 4th century AD . This essay will investigate Pont du Gard as one of the most magnificent members of the Roman aqueducts, in regard to its design processes, along with the technological issues in relation to the aqueduct design. Pont du Gard functioned as an aqueduct bridge, a portion of the Nimes Aqueduct, delivering the majority of the water supply to the city of Nemausus (Nimes, France), an important colonial city of Rome. Its unarguably remarkable size, being over 49 m tall, makes it the biggest bridge the Roman engineers had ever constructed, only a metre shorter than the Colosseum, and it is still standing until today. Another important feature of this aqueduct is the maintenance of the gradient over the distance of 50 km. The gradient over the whole course of the aqueduct is only a mere 0.034 percent and the actual gradient on the section downstream of Pont du Gard is no more than 7 mm per 100 m. This ... • 10. The United States And Wyoming Economy Essay The crackling and popping of the large redwood finally falling was a sweet noise to my grandpa Ray s tired arms. He stood back and watched with satisfaction as the tree began to fall away from him, but as it fell the large tree hit the branch of another tree and instead of knocking over the other tree or breaking the branch, this large tree was heading straight for him. He saw this and stepped back to move out of the way and fell over a stump. He cried out in agony as the log fell onto his leg. The happenings in the U.S. and Wyoming economy in the 90s and the conditions my grandmother, Cindy Pittsley, faced caused her to move from Dubois to a few different places before she settled in Glenrock and led her to where she is today. My grandmother, 62 today, has lived an eventful life very unknown to her 22 grandchildren. Most of us know she was married to our grandfather, Ray Pittsley, at the young age of 16, however, before and after that is mysterious. • 12. Examples Of Evil In Macbeth The definition of evil is profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity, especially when regarded as a supernatural force. The readers see these qualities in the main character, Macbeth. This play, written by William Shakespeare, starts off by portraying Macbeth as a hero who helped to win the battle for Scotland; this is the first impression of Macbeth. Macbeth is not the only character that readers see profound immorality in; evilis seen in the people around Macbeth as he makes his journey to the throne. First, evil is shown in Macbeth when he expresses that he is willing to do anything to obtain complete power. After the war is won, Macbeth is told by the witches that he will be promoted to Thane of Cawdor, and even has the opportunity to be king of Scotland. Macbeth is indeed promoted to Thane of Cawdor and immediately gets anxious to be king, and right now. Macbeth is willing to kill the current King Duncan to earn his throne. This evil deed is the first time we see wickedness in Macbeth. Macbeth says, Stars hide your fires! Let not see my black and deep desires (I. iv. 52 53). The modern movie industry is an industry of commodities in sense, what this means is that the movies produced today are produced simply as means for profit and not as form of art. As Adorno and Horkheimer stated the movie makers distrust any manuscript which is not reassuringly backed by a bestseller (Adorno and Horkheimer) this attitude can be seen by simply observing the Avengers, Spider man and Transformers franchises. These types of movies are given top priority at movie studios simply because they are movies with large target audiences and the movie studios know that they will bring in mass amounts of profits. These types of movies often lack substance of any kind for example take the Avengers franchise, the movie itself has very little plot or characterization but it is still produced over and over again because it is a source of revenue. The movie was well received by the majority of people that viewed it. However, not everyone was as impressed with the movie, like film critic Roger Ebert for example. While Ebert, at the time working as a film critic for Chicago Sun Times, gave the movie three stars, there are some critiques that are incredibly incorrect. The article focuses a lot on the stellar performances of Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush, Jack Sparrow and Barbossa respectively, while making light of the respectable performance of Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann. He also spends a good segment of his review bashing the action scenes and deeming them pointless based on the plot of the movie. Overall, Roger Ebert believes the movie was decent, but went on for far too long, calling it, a nice little 90 minute B movie trapped inside the 143 minutes of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (rogerebert.com). There is an argument to be made about Roger Ebert s rollercoaster ride of a review on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, especially concerning his opinions on the performances of some of the actors and the fighting. Furthermore, the article within Key Concepts of Medical Sociology addresses the differences between how certain occupations fall within the category of professions while not every occupation is deemed as a profession (Gabe et al. 163). I found this concept to be extremely interesting as I have never studied the idea behind occupation and professions from a sociological perspective as in how not every occupation is considered to hold a title of a profession ... • 19. Differences Of Crito By Plato And Leviathan By Hobbes Theodore Roosevelt once said, justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong. Justice is a term that comes from the Latin word jus, which means right. The word justice, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is defined as just behavior or treatment, quality of being fair and reasonable, and the administration of the law or authority in maintaining this. There are many concepts linked with the term, and many different ways it is presented in different cultures and societies. It is believed that one of the early theorists was none other than the famous Ancient Greek philosopher, Plato. His work, Crito, is one his most recognized and infamous... But Hobbes explanation of nature of man craving power, Socrates seems to be portraying the opposite. He is just accepting the fate of execution. But then when he goes through the consequences of escaping, he decides that he would rather settle with the consequences, no matter if it is just or unjust. When Socrates considered escaping prison with Crito s help and persuasion, we see Hobbes claim of power is what everyone craves coming into play. By escaping Socrates will be able to gain the freedom and power, while deserting the injustice he was going to face. But in the end, Crito was not able to coerce Socrates enough to gain the self justice. Through both of these reading, we see the connection of Hobbes claim and the story of Socrates. Hobbes says that everyone craves power, and we see that through Socrates and his enemies, but we can also see the opposite of the claim when Socrates chooses to stay in prison and face the consequences of execution. Recent scholarship has challenged this notion by scrutinizing the high level of racial discrimination and segregation that existed in the city despite the lack of codified Jim Crow legislation. Hence, an examination of the patterns that shaped the reactions to Carmichael s visit, especially those of the local racial etiquette, which might have been compounded by the fact that Nashville is the capital of Tennessee, will contribute to our understanding of the local framing of the Black liberation struggle in the later half of the 1960s. Moreover, scholars have shown that the outsider theme has been a common and popular notion in regulating and reinforcing the racial status quo in Nashville and in other place around the nation. Hence, an examination of the complex nature of local opposition to Black Power has the potential to increase our understanding about the exploits of the resistance to Carmichael s presence in Music City. From the behavior of student s caused by different parenting skills, how teachers teach their classes as well as student s ability to use fundamentals, media and technology all play a role in how the world of education has evolved. Robin Lawrence a thirteen year veteran teacher now a curriculum specialist at Bellaire Elementary has a good insight into how the educational system has changed over time. Past and present behavior have differed between the generations. Behavior in the past was much better. In the past children did not have adult problems placed on them. Past parents had better control to allow their children to be young. Past generations of parents did not have a lack of parenting skills. Children were allowed to be carefree, unlike in the present day generations. Today s generations have adult problems caused by poor or lack of parenting and therefore their behavior reflect this. The poor behavior of today s generations has affected their education. The poor behavior of one student affects the whole class. Mrs. Lawrence stated, Student behavior was much better when I attended school than the behaviors I see in students present day. Accounting standards are authoritative statements of how particular types of transaction and other events should be reflected in financial statements. Accordingly, compliance with accounting standards will normally be necessary for financial statements to give a true and fair view. Accounting standards issued by the Accounting Standards Board are designated Financial Reporting Standards (or FRSs). Those issued by its predecessor bodies, and adopted by the Board when it was created in 1990, are designated Statements of Standard Accounting Practice (or SSAPs). The way she behaves also hits on another theme, the contrast between people that can act as a balance. While both are absorbed in their own melancholy moods, Orsino does it for the love he desires and Olivia does it for loved ones she s lost. Despite their opposing approaches towards wooing, they both end up with a love of their own. Another interesting counterbalance is between the captain and Antonio. The captain saved Viola, but after accepting money to help her, he went his separate way, never expressing feelings for her. In contrast, Antonio rescued Sebastian, then gave him money and followed him, all the while expressing love for him. Then there is Sir Toby and Malvolio, perhaps two of the most evident opposites in the play because of the way Malvolio actively opposes Sir Toby. Malvolio is somber and serious. • 38. Rehearsal Memory is a vital area of study. The continuing research conducted in fields such as: psychology and neuroscience can bring insight that will someday pilot discoveries in new ways to enhance memory and find treatments or cures to disorders such as Alzheimer, PTSD or memory loss. Additionally the study of memory and its effects on learning is equally important to research for some of the very same reasons. One of the many key questions in the research of memory and learning is what can be done to improve it and what triggers encoding into memory to help one learn better. One of the most common methods to increase memory is rehearsal (Rundus, 1971). Rehearsal involves the repeating of information in order to process the information and store it into memory to recall later. There are two types of rehearsal; maintenance and elaborative. Maintenance rehearsal is simply repeating something without thinking about it. This will add the information into short term or working memory. Elaborative rehearsal transfers information into long term memory. You have to think about the information and connect a meaning to it in order for this transfer to happen. In studying the literature regarding memory and learning there is birth of another method of memory improvement on the rise. It begins with a 1972 study conducted by Hopkins and Edwards. They set about to test an assumption from a 1966 study that recall was better for articulated words because the articulation would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Schedule Policy For Dialysis Patients Schedule Policy for Dialysis Patients The wait times of dialysis patients before and after hemodialysis treatments have been an area of concern. In a typical morning at an outpatient dialysis clinic, all the patients for the first shift will begin to gather in a waiting room just prior to a specific time. I will use the start time of 7:00 a.m. for example. The nurses and patient care staff will arrive a considerable amount of time earlier to prepare for the oncoming shift of patients. At 7:00 a.m., the nurse in charge will begin calling each patient in one at a time. An assessment is done. The patient is weighed. His/her lungs are listened to. Many specific questions are asked. A treatment goal is determined based on protocols. Then, the assessment data is entered into a networked computer system, which is retrieved at a specific station for a particular patient. This process continues until every station in the clinic is full. Typically, a clinic will hold anywhere from 12 to 30 stations. For this example, I will use a 20 station clinic. Target population There are many Chronic Renal Failure patients who are elderly and have additional diseases, such as diabetes, chronic pain, and others. Many of these patients have to wait as much as an hour to an hour and a half before and after treatments. The lack of policy and the absence of close management of this schedule may potentially put at risk patients in greater danger. Instead of patients being in the clinic ... The Transit Agreement Between Bangladesh And India Essay Transit is generally the making of mutually beneficial arrangements for the use of waterways, roads and railways for bilateral trade and passage of goods between two countries or two places in one countrythrough the territory of the other. This system is not very uncommon since many countries in the world give transit to others for economic and political development and some countries like Egypt,Singapore,Russia is making a huge money through this system Transit Agreement between Bangladesh and India: Through Protocol on Inland Water Transit and Trade in 1972 (PIWTT) between India and Bangladesh, India was using Chittagong port for trade since then. For easier trade, India was demanding transit facilities from Bangladesh but the BNP government was not providing that facilities at their time.AfterAwami League came into power the request for transit became louder and when Sheikh Hasina visited India in 2010, discussion was taken place about transit. It was almost final that during Manmahan Singh visit of Bangladesh in 2011 the agreement would be signed. • 41. Ragtime And Scott Joplin s Opera Treemonisha Ragtime is a musical genre in African American communities that was popular between 1895 and 1918. But ragtime became more popular with the revival in the 1970 s with Joshua Rifkin s album Scott Joplin: Piano Rags, and the motion picture The Sting, along with the first complete performance of Scott Joplin s opera Treemonisha. The musicin Treemonisha and Scott Joplin s piano rags are considered to both be in the genre of ragtime, but they both not alike and have many different components to them such as texture, mood, and purpose. Ragtime comes from jigs and marches that were played by African American bands and started to become popular in North America by the 20th century. It was also based off of John Philip Sousa marches with additional polyrhythms (rhythms that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joplin s tune The Entertainer won an Academy Award and was released as a single from the film s soundtrack and was rated as a top ten chart single. This movie was able to bring ragtime to a wide audience and encouraged praise for Joplin s works. Around 1910, when Joplin finished Treemonisha and started showing it around, he got into some copyright trouble. While he was showing it around, trying to get it published some one stole the theme. Now to get his opera published he had to rewrite it. Irving Berlin s Alexander s Ragtime Band stole the theme for the closing song in the Treemonisha opera, a Slow Drag, so Joplin changed some of it and renamed it A Real Slow Drag. Scott Joplin s piece The Entertainer was also a ragtime piece written in 1902. It was also part of the ragtime revival and was used as the theme music for The Sting. • 42. Pink Floyd and the Wall Discussing Pink Floyd and The Wall Rock Opera Pink Floyd s the Wall is arguably one of the most intriguing and imaginative albums in the history of rock music. Since its release in 1979, and the subsequent movie of 1982, the Wall has become synonymous with, if not the very definition of, the term concept album. Aurally explosive on record and visually explosive on the screen, the Wall traces the life of the fictional protagonist, Pink Floyd, from his boyhood days in war torn England to his self imposed isolation as a world renowned rock star, leading to a climax that is as questionably cathartic as it is destructive. From the outset, Pink s life revolves around an abyss of loss and isolation. Born to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Wall is a stunning synthesis of Waters familiar thematic obsessions: the brutal misanthropy of Pink Floyd s last LP, Animals Dark Side of the Moon s sour, middle aged cynicism, the surprisingly shrewd perception that the music business is a microcosm of institutional opportunity, Wish You were Here, and the dread of impending psychoses that runs through all these records. There is a strongly felt antiwar sentiment that dates way back to 1968 s A Saucerful of Secrets. However, where Animals, for instance, suffered from self centered smugness, the even more abject The Wall leaps to life with a relentless lyrical rage that is clearly genuine. . Fashioned as a kind of circular maze (the last words on side four begin a sentence completed by the first words on side one), The Wall offers no exit except madness from a world malevolently bent on crippling its citizens at every level of endeavor. The process for those of Waters generation, at least begins at birth with the smothering distortions of mother love. Then there are some vaguely remembered upheavals from the wartime Blitz: Did you ever wonder Why we had to run for shelter When the promise of a brave new world Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky? In government run schools, children are methodically tormented and humiliated by teachers whose comeuppance occurs when they go home at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Oppression Within The Social Workers Social workers are often on the forefront in the fight against any form of oppression as against the marginalized society. These demanding but oftentimes unappreciated efforts are often addressed through the conscious use of skills and knowledge of the problems being solved against. When such oppression is however committed against them within the organization where they work, the social worker seems to be mum about the situation, or their efforts perhaps are rendered inutile. North America social workers experience this form of oppression within the social service institution. For this reason, I examine the arguments why the social workers need to be aware of the existence of this unique form of oppression. In order to eliminate oppression in the social welfare workplace, the social workers, in their pursuit of social change, must have a competent understanding of the theory around racism and oppression. Racism, as a social construct, historically and generally creates a generalization based on the culture, ethnicity, or any objective attributes of a person. Oppression, which is a modern category of racism, is the use of any form of power to dis empower, marginalize, silence, or otherwise subordinate one social group, usually to further empower and/or privilege the oppressor. Although oppression can be defined as a concept, creating a clear definition of what constitutes anti oppression becomes a challenge even though much as been discussed about it. Much of it has to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Is Homicide Ever Justified Essay Is homicide ever justified? Ordinarily no, but in certain circumstances committing a homicide can be excused due to insanity or be justified because the situation called for self defense or the defense of others. As with many aspects of the law, there can be ambiguity present about whether or not a crime meets the criteria of an excuse or justification, as we have seen in the State v. Norman 378 S.E.2d 8 (1989) case. At issue in the case is whether the danger that the defendant, Judy Ann Laws Norman, felt was imminent in order to justify the homicide she committed when she shot her husband. I believe Norman s actions were justified when she shot her husband given the extensive instances of domestic abuse that her husband inflicted on her over the course of the last... Let s break this situation down into its smaller parts to better understand why this hypothetical situation is clear cut self defense. The threat was imminent and present as soon as the perpetrator threatened the clerk and the threat continued to exist throughout the entire situation until the perpetrator was killed. The perception of the threat was reasonable since any reasonable person would feel in danger if someone brandished a gun at them. Finally, the store clerk was entitled to use deadly force to defend himself since the perpetrator was using deadly force as leverage in the situation. In conclusion, the situation contains all of the elements of self defense and the store clerk cannot face legal repercussions for the death of the perpetrator. In my analysis of the homicide that took place in the State v. Norman 378 S.E.2d 8 (1989) case, I find that the situation that occurred is analogous to the store clerk versus the ... Raskolnikov Foil Gentry Hale Raskolnikov is a proud and intellectual man who believes that he is extraordinary enough to break all social rules and moral standards if he thinks that it will further humanity. Sonia is a shy and timorous girl who is a devout Christian and is so dedicated to her family that she is willing to do anything to help them. Sonia s humility and meekness help Raskolnikov to realize that he may not be as remarkable as he believes. Fyodor Dostoevsky uses Sonia as a foil towards Raskolnikov, in his novel Crime and Punishment, because she helps him to overcome his pride and confess to his crime. Sonia and Raskolnikov are both communal outcasts because of the social injustices that they have committed. Sonia resorted to prostitution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He immediately convinced himself that it was a sign that he must commit the murder the next night. The use of coincidence and environment as self justification shows that he feels guilty and needs validation for his crimes. He cannot turn to God like Sonia because he is a selfish man and repenting means that he must admit to himself that he had done wrong. Instead of feeling disappointment in himself he will blame his actions on the world around him. Raskolnikov askes Sonia to read him a passage out of the Bible and she reads him the story of Lazarus. He acts as if he does not believe in the story, but he is moved by it. The rising of Lazarus from the dead is a parallel to Raskolnikovs separation from the world. He relates to this story because his pride alienates him from those that love him. He longs to be like Lazarus and to be reborn, and his pride begins to waiver. When he works up the humility to confess to Sonia, she offers him a cross. He begins to accept it and then quickly gives it back. Although he did not take the cross, he considered it. In this instance Raskolnikov was able to confess to his crime, even if only to Sonia, and he almost accepts her religious offering. She is making an impact on his conscious and his pride is ... Bedtime Stories As Told By Our Dad Who Messed Them Up This past December I had the honor of being a clown for Perry High School s children show, Bedtime Stories As Told by Our Dad Who Messed Them Up which means I watched the show three different times excluding dress rehearsal and any practices I attended. Two performances were held on December 1st and one performance was presented on December 2nd. On Friday, December 1st children from Perry Elementary schools and St. Joan of Arc were bussed to the high school to watch the show. The clowns were given the job of seating these energetic excited little youngsters who were hilarious and so interactive. Every time one of the actors would ask an open ended question the kids would shout what they thought the answer was. There was one moment when one of the characters was trying to figure out Rumpelstiltskin s name so she listed names which could be correct. Most of the kids shouted No! when she would list a name but there was one kid in the back who kept on shouting his name and the clowns in the back were cracking up. Despite all the distractions coming from the audience, the performers did a great job staying in character.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
