The Determinant Of A Successful Career
The sports industry is an intense, highly competitive field of work which involves a great deal
of patience, dedication, and hard work. Not a lot of people have what it takes to stay in the
business for long but Mike Tomlin knows exactly what it takes. He is a wonderful role model
for people looking to do something similar or to be a coach like himself. Being able to
communicate properly with the players as well as other people in this area of work is what will
be the determinant of a successful career. By watching how Tomlin conducts himself I can learn
what I have to do in order to be a successful coach one day. Mike Tomlin was born in Hampton,
Virginia, on March 15th, 1972, and is currently 44 years old. He has two brothers and is the
youngest in his family. In high school, Tomlin was an all star, he set his school record with 20
touchdown catches. Due to his success in high school, he continued his academic career at the
College of William and Mary. During his time in college, he joined the fraternity Kappa Alpha
Psi and was also a member of the football team as a tight end and wide receiver. In 1994, he was a
second team All Yankee Conference selection. Also during college, Tomlin coached for the
Virginia Military Institute for the wide receivers. The next year he was a coach for the defensive
backs and special teams as graduate assistant for the University of Memphis. In 1997, Tomlin
worked for Arkansas State University, where he was a coach for the

Pocahontas Research Paper
My first choice is Pocahontas. The exact date of her birth is unknown, but she is believed to have
been born between 1595 1596. Her father is Wahunsenaca , the chief of the Powhatan Chiefdom,
her mother is not known. Pocahontas got her nickname by being naturally curious and playful. As a
child she was taught her duties as a women, and learned how to distinguish the edible plants from
the non edible ones.
When Pocahontas was 11 years old, the English arrived in Jamestown. In 1607 John Smith was
captured and as he told it stopped his execution . On the day he was to be killed it is said that his
head was placed on a stone to be bashed, and Pocahontas laid her head on his and saved him.

Evolution Of The Internet And Network Protocols
The Evolution of the Internet and Network Protocols The internet has revolutionized the modern
world like no other invention has before, except perhaps, electricity. The internet allows sharing
and collaboration to take place between people on opposite sides of the globe. Vinton G. Cerf,
often called the Father of the Internet , admits that when the original idea of an intranet was in
its infancy, there was no possible way to imagine all of the ways we would come to use it
(NDTV, 2013). But how does it work? The internet, based on the concept of packet switching ,
involves the travelling of small packets of data over one or more networks (Frenzel, 2013). This
can be compared to electronic postcards , meaning that a computer generates a piece of data and
flings it into the net, just like the postal system, except 100 million times faster (Cerf, 2013).
This concept allows one computer to speak to many different computers around the network by
sending out these electronic postcards . However, before these networks can work seamlessly
together, they must use a common protocol, or set of rules for transmitting and receiving these
packets of data. There are several protocols currently in use, including the OSI Model, the TCP/IP
Model, UDP, HTTP, and FDP (Mitchell, 2014), but the most commonly used is Transmission
Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (Gilmer, 2011). Even as early as 1977, TCP/IP was
being used by other networks to link to ARPANET (Kozierok,

The Movie Moonlight By Barry Jenkins
Imagine if you go outside your front door and you look left. There are two people dealing
cocaine. You look right and there is someone being robbed with a gun. The movie Moonlight
tells a story about a kid named Chiron who was different from everyone else, because he is
different he got picked on and got taken advantage by everyone else including his mother, Paula.
When Chiron had an opportunity to start all over he pretended to be someone he wasn t so he
could survive and be respected by others. The film shows Chiron in the parts of his life, when he
was a kid the others called him Little, throughout his teenage years he was called Chiron, and as
an adult he was Black. The movie took place in Miami, Florida in the hood around the 1980 s...

In the scene where Chiron is driving around in his car with a man it is clearly visible that Chiron
has changed. He is wearing baggy shorts with a tank top showing off his muscles and has a gold
grill. He passes some hood members and he pulls out a pistol for protection. This proves if
Chiron didn t adapt and become tough then he would ve still been taken advantage of and
probably killed. Another very important scene within the movie is when he meets his mother
when he is older. His mother emphasizes I messed up. I fucked it all the way up. I know that.
But yo heart ain t gotta be black like mine baby. This shows that Chiron s mother knows she
messed up and adapted to the way of life within their city and she is noticing that he is changing
as well. This relates to society because in all different places around the world especially in
dangerous areas, if the people who live within those areas adapt to the lifestyle than they could be
in huge danger. Violencehas a major existence in these areas which is a big cause of people needing
to adapt, In communities where gangs thrive, violence and intimidation are common
occurrences...Other behaviors in which gang members engage that present serious threat to law
abiding communities include assault with deadly weapons, home invasion, arson, intimidation of
victims and witnesses, and car theft. Moreover, respectable residents are confronted by a growing
street culture that increase community

Essay Writing Process Analysis
Using the four steps in essay writing will help you make your essay a better paper to read (Bethel
University, 2014). By having a point, supportive evidence, organized with specific evidence, and
write sentences clear and free of errors.
Summarize the information you learned about The Four Steps in Essay Writing.
What I have learned in essay writing is first you want to ensure you have a point or thesis (Bethel
University, 2014). This is so you can develop a single idea the readers can understand. You want to
write statements and ensure you that the topic is easy to discuss.
The second step I learned is; while writing, my essay needs to be specific with the evidence (Bethel

My Best Moments In My Life Of My Family
Do you have that special person in your life that no matter what situation you are going through
they manage to put a smile on your face? There are some people in life that makes you laugh a
little louder, smile a little bigger, and live a little better. For me, this special person happens to
be my best friend Alexia Reese. Some of my best moments in life involves her. She is so full of
laughter and joy. Her humor style is definitely one of a kind, very weird and crazy. The one time
Alexia could not stop laughing was one of the most embarrassing days of her life. She had just
applied and received an interview at her dream job in the beauty department. She was beyond
excited and nervous all at once. Alexia said The one thing that makes me truly happy other than
making people laugh is beating my face . I remember receiving over twenty phone calls from her
right before her interview that morning. We tried serval techniques trying to get her to calm
down a little. Once her name was called her stomach immediately sunk to her feet. Sitting across
from the store manager answering question after question she felt sweat dripping from her
forehead. Then he asked her Why should we hire you for this job ? Alexia was not prepared for
this question. Her mind went completely blank. The room was super quiet. Next thing you know
she let out a huge fart that sounded like a gun being fired. She finally responded, I shouldn t have
eaten McDonald s before I came here huh ? Her face was full

The Meaning Of Islam And Islam
The meaning of Islam is submission to one God. The central point or belief in Islam is to believe
in the existence of only one God or Allah. The religion revolves around this one belief known as
tawhid. This idea occurs in other religions such as Judaism and Christianity. All of these authentic
religions speak of the same God as Islamis the reassertion of the revelation of God to Abraham,
Noah and Christ. Islam considers these great figures as prophets and they are included in the
Quran, the holy book of Islam. Quran which is the word of God says that there are ninety nine
names of God which are distributed into Perfection, Majesty, and Beauty. Some of them include: the
Just, the Majestic, the Giver of Death, the Victorious, the All Powerful, the All Merciful, the
Forgiver and the Generous.
The belief in the Oneness of God is very essential as the most basic testifications or shahadas state:
There is no god but God (Allah) and Muhammad is the messenger of God. Allah has defined
human beings not as sinful but as beings that carry their primordial nature but negligence has
made them forget that nature. Islam was sent for remembrance of the knowledge of the One. For
this reason, the greatest sin acquired by human beings is not disobedience as said in Christianity
but it is shirk which is denying the Oneness of God and taking a partner onto God. God has
provided the human race with the intelligence for them to know the One and no forget and shirk is
a crime that would

The Role Of Animals In Egyptian Mythology
According to the ancient myth, Seth ruled over the Upper Egypt, while Horus ruled over the
Lower Egypt. There are also other gods in Egyptian mythology that possess the animalistic
appearance. Some of the most well known examples are: Anubis, the god of embalming and the
dead, Thoth, the god of writing and knowledge, Sobek, the godof the Nile, Bastet, the protective
goddess and many other gods. All of these gods have their animal forms and manifestation, their
significance was closely connected to animals they stood for. Actually, the animal they represented
was determining the characteristics of a certain deity, for example, the birds such as hawk or ibis
were often considered the symbol of wisdom and protection. Horus, for instance, was often listed as
the protective god of the Egyptians, the one who protects the pharaoh, and he possesses the head of
the hawk.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Heavy Metal Assessment Of Cosmetic Products Essay
Heavy metal assessment of some cosmetic products by ICP/OES
Abstract:
It has been shown that heavy metals toxicity to humans is as a result of long term or high level
exposure to pollutants common in the environment including the air, water, food and numerous
consumer products such as the cosmetics and toiletries. Cosmetics are seen as one of the most
important sources of releasing heavy metals into the environment and the human biological
system. Thus Cosmetic products must not be harmful under normal or foreseeable conditions of
use. Four different samples of cosmetics (Foundation, Kohl, Blusher, and Lipstick) were
analyzed in Al Madina SAES laboratory for water and food analysis to determine the levels of
heavy metals (As, Pb, Zn, Hg, and Cu) in the products. Concentrations of the selected heavy metals
were determined by using inductively coupled plasma/optical emission spectroscopy (ICP/OES).
As and Cu were not found in all samples except in foundation sample found in concentration
0.0056 ppm for as and 0.006116 ppm for Cu, lead ranged between 0.03 0.92 ppm. Mercury ranged
between 0.04 1.49 ppm, and Zinc ranged between 0.026 0.091ppm.
1. Introduction: Personal care products and facial cosmetics are commonly used by millions of
consumers on a daily basis. These products are directly applied to human skin and mainly produce
local exposure to certain ingredients. Numerous consumer products like cosmetics and toiletries
have been reported as a source of heavy metal

The Revolution Of The 1905 Revolution Essay
This along with his eagerness to arrest, imprison, exile, and hang his opponents only further divided
the tsar from the working class, earning him the nickname Nicholas the Bloody (Khrustalev and M.
Steinberg 25). The Russian people no longer felt safe under the tsar s rule. With more instances of
brutality accumulating on top of one another, the 1905 Revolution was inevitable.
Albeit the violent suppression of the 1905 Revolution, in the end it was regarded by
revolutionaries as semi successful. Nicholas II agreed to the institution of the State Duma, a
limited form of representative democracy, citing it as the revival of a custom and as a means to
better hear the voice of the Russian people. (Khrustalev and M. Steinberg 19). Although the Duma
allowed for slightly more political involvement by the people, the tsar remained the supreme
autocrat (Chamberlin). Nicholas II s rule continued, albeit much shakier than before. He decided to
convene the Duma four times altogether, each time experiencing conflict stemming from their calls
for liberal reform and Nicholas s refusal to compromise (Chamberlin). In the wake of the 1905
Revolution, Nicholas II was committed to the ideal that traditionally conservative values and
structures were necessary for Russia s survival, and that failure to maintain these policies would be
the cause of the decline of Russia sovereignty (Khrustalev and Steinberg 5). Nicholas s conservative
response to the revolution was misguided, completely

The Code Of Chivalry In The Lord Of The Green Knight
The implementation of this code is heavy throughout the poem, we are faced with few truly
prominent characters, but what characters we are presented with by the narrator exemplify both
the positive and negative aspects of upholding the Code of Chivalry, while also enforcing ideas
of Christianity as well. The first element of the chivalric code, while not inherently Christian in
nature, it still holds bearing as one of the key elements throughout, is when the Lord of the castle
that Gawain stumbles upon, lets him stay and have a place to rest before he heads off to Green
Chapel (the area where the Green Knight resides) to battle the Green Knight. This is a critical
form of feudalism at a time and establishes the relationship between a lord and his vassal, the
Lord is providing a place to stay while Gawain promises that he shall dwell here and do what you
deem good for me , this establishes the chivalric relationships between the two men. Not only does
this interaction establish the importance of the chivalric code between these two men, but when
they make the promise to exchange whatever the Lord hunts for in the woods and whatever
Gawain receives during his time in the castle during the day, also solidifies this vassal/lord
relationship. There is also an establishment of the courtly love theme in this section, which is key
to most chivalric tales told at this time and would ve been essential to audiences at this time, we
are presented with the lady of the castle, who had

Justice System In 12 Angry Men
On October 3, 1955 one of America s most immense juror cases had finally announced a verdict ,
O.J Simpson was found not guilty in killing his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman
Nicole s friend. Only to find out years later that O.J. was actually guilty for this crime, when
detectives went to O.J. s estate home they found multiple evidence such as blood all over his white
Bronco, hairs of his on Ron s shirt, and even footprints of Simpson s shoe size. Was the United
States justicesystem so corrupt and prejudice to the point that they let a guilty man free just because
of his social status and money. Simpson displays the main topic in the short story 12 Angry Men
which is whether the United States has a prejudice unfair justice system. Sidney Lumetand Reginald
Rose the writers and directors of 12 Angry Men wrote and produced a play about 12 jurors that
briefly discuss a trial and come to a verdict , personal issues develop which causes conflict and
only makes the process more grueling. The accused boy is being found guilty for murdering his
father, 12 jurors are put in a hot room in New York and spend hours briefly viewing the scenario.
Although one might think that the justice system should be left in the hands of citizens ,the
director of 12 Angry Men , Sidney Lumet demonstrate that the United States justice system is unfair
and is simply corrupt , inefficient , and unjust due to the jurors biased way of thinking, ignorant
attitude ,and the lack of

Similarities between Frankenstein and A Work of Artifice
Frankenstein and the poem A Work of Artifice portray almost the same message. These pieces by
Mary Shelley and Marge Piercy include both similar themes and ideas. The stories both involve a
theme of misconception, similar characters in which is easily depicted, and the theme of alienation
and loneliness presents itself in both pieces. The tree in A Work of Artifice and the monster in
Frankensteinare outcasts on society itself, the main characters of each are actually very similar and
so is the misconception that falls on both main characters in both pieces of work.

Both the creature from Frankenstein and the bonsai tree from A Work of Artifice hold similar traits
and characteristics. Victor Frankenstein, the creature s creator, and the gardener, the bonsai tree s
creator hold similar traits and characteristics as well.
The theme of alienation and loneliness both present themselves in these pieces. The tree longs
for freedom and to grow and stretch out as long as it wants to. Could have grown eighty feet tall
on the side of a mountain (Piercy 3 4). This quote shows exactly the longing for growth upon it.
But a gardener carefully pruned it. It is nine inches high. Every day as he whittles back the
branches the gardener croons, It is your nature to be small and cozy. (Piercy 6 13). Instead of the
tree expanding out and growing to its full potential like it would like to do, the gardener cuts it
down every day and prevents it from growing at all. The tree has to sit alone in a pot, and not
prosper and thrive to be the biggest and tallest tree there it wants to be. This theme presents itself
in Frankenstein also, All men hate the wretched; how, then, must I be hated, who am miserable
beyond all living things! Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature, to whom thou art
bound by ties only dissoluble by annihilation of one of us (Shelley 95). Right here the creature is
basically saying I have no freedom at all, how

Views On Humanity
In the beginning God made all of creation and looked around and saw that it was good, and this
includes us, humanity. We were good in the beginning, created perfect, holy, and righteous,
made in the image of God s own self. God also gave us the freedom of choice, the free will to
decide to follow our selfish desires or to follow the will of God. Back in the beginning Adam
made that choice, biting into the forbidden fruit and bringing sin into the world. Humanity fallen
from holiness was cast out of the garden and so we find ourselves broken and blinded to God by
our own sin. Since that time humanity has been torn between the righteousness we were created
for and the desires of our own flesh, each day confronted with the same choice as Adam. Opening
my Facebook today I see humanity for all that it is. I see the ugly side in arguments about
abortion, discrimination of many kinds, animal life vs. human life, war, marriage, poverty, and
violence. Then I also see posts from mission trips and the good works being done. I see a post
about street pastors who go out on weekends to care for others and in their words this means
sometimes someone needs to talk and sometimes they just needa bottle of water but whatever it is
that is their need they are there to try to meet it. I see posts about new life and growing babies. I
see posts about those who are dealing with loss. Laughing and crying, yelling and sighing, anger
and joy. This is humanity the huge complexity of God s good

Analysis Of John Was An American Comic Book Artist
John was an American comic book artist known for his work with EC Comic on Two Fisted
Tales and Frontline Combat, Marvel Comics on war and western comics, and a 45 year stint with
the magazine Cracked. He was also one of the founding artists of Mad in 1952. Severin was
insucted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2003 before passing away in 2012.
Severin s strongest aspects of this piece are framing, line work, and detail. The framing is
successful with the archway in the foreground of the environment. This black arch frames the
whole piece. Within the arch, the skeletons create a secondary framing device, calling attention to
the men on the stains. The immense detail in the skeletons allow them to work with the top arch ...

The black placement is almost nonexistent except for inside the building in the background. This
pulls the viewer to this spot, which is rather unimportant in the image, while the focus should be on
the woman.
This piece successfully utilizes hatching, black placement, and has reproduced a character who is
identifiable. The hatching in the cloak of the character shows directionality without becoming too
complicated can being distracting. The black placement in the cloak weights the character provides
ground for him and the mailbox to sit on. The reproduction of a character is sometimes difficult to
achieve without matching a certain style. Severin successfully achieves drawing Bilbo Baggins and
having him recognizable, despite the name on the mail box to push recognition. The weakest
aspect of the piece is acting. Bilbo is stiff, and white he is in the act of taking the mail out of the
mailbox, he breaks the fourth wall by looking at the viewer. It would be more successful acting if
he was looking at the action he was performing.
The strongest aspect of this piece is line direction. In the water they encircle the action, and in the
rocks they lead the viewer down into the water. They also aid in the creation of texture, rhythm,
pattern, and framing. The texture created by the lines in the water reflect ripples that would
actually occur in the real world.

Catholics Confession Of Beliefs
Catholics believe that there are three ways to express the Christian faith: through the confession
of beliefs, in spiritual practices and ways of beliefs....and in a code of ethic (Groome 174). The
confession of beliefs is the first step to becoming a Christian. This step requires individuals to
believe in a higher power and form a relationship with the higher power. A confession of beliefs
requires the attendance to a local church, to help build a relationship with Godand Jesus. Jesus may
play the most important role in this stage because he walked in the life of a human and understands
the struggles that individuals face. When someone is scared to talk with God they can speak with
Jesus because he is understanding. Spiritual practices and

Analytical Essay On Measure For Measure
Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare is a play about two lovers who bear a child out of
wedlock during an era when it was considered illegal. Even though the play centers around the
two characters of Claudio and Juliet, they are hardly ever seen. Measure for Measure is a
comedic play which underscores moral dilemmas in a Christian world. Comedic features such as;
the Duke disguising himself as a common friar in the play, which is how the play starts to develop
inner problems, and unsavory characters are introduced. Practical jokes are used within the play to
lighten the tragedy of Claudio being executed. Angelo is the temporary leader while the Duke is

Therefore, we beg to question what is true? What is true in the play is in the thickening of the plot
and the characters itself. The characters in Measure for Measure have chosen to challenge culture,
law, and standing before God in an effort to experience temptation. The state, the family, and the
individual are at odds with each other. Isabella and her group believe in letting people decide
how they want to live, whereas the government under Angelo s new reign; believe in freedoms
that need to be regulated. The law pertains to justice, mercy, and significance of title. Is there a
significance of title for what is legal and illegal for the characters in the play? Is Angelo allowed
to freely have premarital relations and not a commoner like Claudio and Juliet? The hope for
mercy is at question here for what is deemed to be true. The questioning of truth in Measure for
Measure relies on the path that the characters have chosen to challenge politics. Claudio and Juliet
have challenged the law. Angelo is at depths with temptation and the act of redemption on Claudio s

Which angered the colonist because it was done without their consent and without a representative
in the parliament to speak for them. This was the beginning of open hostilities between the colonies
and Great Britain. After months of protest, and an appeal by Benjamin Franklin before the British
house of Commons, Parliament voted to repeal the Stamp Act in March, 1766. However, the very
same day, Parliament passed other act. The Declaratory act.
The Declaratory Act was passed by the British parliament to affirm its power to legislate for the
colonies in all cases whatsoever . According to Berris (2015), the declaration stated the Parliament
authority was the same in America as in Britain and asserted Parliament s authority to pass laws that
were binding on the American colonies. The colonies did not dispute the notion of Parliamentary
supremacy over the law. In fact, most of the colonist at that time wanted to be part of the British
empire, and were horrified at the idea of breaking away from England. But the Declaratory Act
allowed the colonies to be taxed without representation. Which infuriated the colonist and caused
them to truly start thinking about breaking away.
By 1767, a series of taxations were introduced to the English Parliament by Charles Townshend
called The Townshend Revenue Acts. These

William Shakespeare s Power Of Power
What does it take to stay in power in Ancient Rome? Power is inequitably distributed between those
who rule and those who are subjects. However, one individual controlling many citizens is a
tenuous circumstance. Controlled chaos, hyperbolized real life theater, maintains the power of
leaders by promoting a sense of fear, unpredictability and helplessness amongst constituents. Many
Roman leaders perceive their hold on power to be tenuous at best, and this insecurity also drives
rash actions. On the other hand, powerful leaders rely on certain structures that serve their power.
Indeed, these structures also support the illusion and confusion. This tension, between the
unordered and ordered demonstrates the psychotic and ruinous character of... Show more content on

Tacitus notes, These and the like sentiments suited the people, who craved amusement, and feared,
always their chief anxiety, scarcity of corn, should he be absent (Annals, 15.36). Just as many of
Trimalchio s guests are dependent on his food, many laypeople in Rome are dependent on Nero s
handouts, giving him absolute control over their psyche. Nero finds what people need and then
seeks to control that need for his own benefit. To build his own house he exerts tremendous
control by taking away something that matters to the populace. Seutonius writes, He also coveted
the sites of several granaries, solidly built in stone...having knocked down their walls with siege
engines, he set the interiors ablaze. (Seutonius, Book VI, p. 38). Nero is blatantly aware that these
citizens need grain, but his needs trump theirs and also his exercise of power makes him stronger
in this instance. Along with this notion of control and psychological power, Nero also introduces
an element of unpredictability to prey on his populace further. Tacitus writes of the great fire, A
disaster followed, whether accidental or treacherously contrived by the emperor, is uncertain, as
authors have given both accounts, worse, however, and more dreadful than any which have ever
happened to this city by the violence of fire (Annals, 15.38). That writers allude to Nero s possible

Cannabis Use For Teenage Years
According to Meier (2012) cannabis use in teenage years can lead to cognitive decline. Heavy
cannabis use at a younger age can lower a person s IQ and as an adult this decline is not seen.
Cannabis use can be associated or connected to many things involving cognitive function. One
relationship that can be correlated is the relationship among cannabis use and neuropsychological
impairment for teenagers. In the present paper, I will explain the role that cannabis plays on
neuropsychological testperformance. It is hypothesized that persistent cannabis use at a younger
age can be associated with neuropsychological impairments. I will explain my findings by
examining a peer reviewed article and news article that was closely related to this article and study
to support this thesis.
In the Nature News article by Leigh Phillips (2012) it discusses two specific ideas that were in
need of evaluation. First, is heavy cannabis use at an early age linked to IQ drops? Second, does
decline mostly occur with users who start as teenagers? When looking at the Dunedin
Longitudinal Study, an ongoing multi factor survey involving a cohort of 1,037 New Zealanders
followed from birth, which now has over 40 years worth of data (Phillips, 2012). Participants in
the Dunedin Study had been periodically tested for IQ and other neuropsychological indices as well
as being asked about drug taking behaviors (Phillips, 2012). By looking at the Dunedin
Longitudinal Study, we can see that frequent cannabis

Essay on Appearance Vs. Reality
One of the characteristics of Realism, in American literature at least, is the ironic use of
perceptions of appearance vs. reality. With this in mind, Henry James s The Real Thing and The
Beast in the Jungle are two works wherein such characteristics can be shown to operate as James
employs cleverly woven twists of appearance and reality in each of the plots.
In James s The Real Thing, the plot is centered on an unnamed artist and his interactions with two
sets of models: the Monarchs (members of genteel society), and Miss Churm and Oronte (members
of the working class). The ironically named Monarchs are a couple who appear as though they
have ten thousand a year but whose lives diverge dramatically from the literal ... Show more content

Monarch.
Miss Churm (a phonetically guttural name that is perhaps a word play on charm by the author)
is a working class native of London and Oronte is an out of work penny ice vendor. James s
introduction of Miss Churm and Oronte to the reader is performed with divergent
characterizations of appearance and reality between the two sets of models. While the Monarchs
are introduced to the readers in a sterile appearance of spotless perfection, and gentility, Miss
Churm (a freckled cockney who couldn t spell and loved beer ) unceremoniously intrudes into the
studio. And Oronte s introduction leads the artist to conclude that the fellow s a bankrupt orange
monger ... a telling comparison from the artist s first impression of the Monarchs, when he believed
them to be sitters. But the success of Miss Churm and Oronte as models of nobility, compared to the
analogous failure of the Monarchs, attributes to the most ironic point of departure in James s
characterizations.
The artist s ability to transform Miss Churm into everything from a fine lady to a shepherdess, and
the Italian Oronte into an Englishman compared with his inability to perform the same
transformation with the Monarchs serves as a

Jade Stadium Redevelopment (project management)
Introduction
The redevelopment of Jade Stadium, formally Lancaster Park, has been a project in development
for a number of years. It is interesting to view the processes and changes in approaches to reach
compromises, that have occurred in the lead up to this project especially with the stage the
redevelopment is at now, (near completion). The emphasis placed upon planning and funding has
had a huge impact to not only the time frame for completion of project but at a more basic stage
of whether the redevelopment would even go ahead. The information used for this review dates
back only as far as January 99, but even by that stage several years work had gone into pushing and

Revenue
The funding of the redevelopment of jade stadium has played one of the most contentious roles in
the planning of the entire project. The sticking point for many was the level of input by the city
council, of tax payers money into the Jade Stadium project. This process is shown to have been
very political and taken more time than any other part of the planning chain.
$43 million was needed to fund the redevelopment of Jade Stadium. $4 million of this was
provided by the Christchurch city council, which was also responsible for underwriting the loan
for the rest of the project. This loan has been planned to be fully repaid in 16 years, according to
the business plan.
Other major sources of revenue for the Jade Stadium redevelopment have been, Canterbury Rugby,
Canterbury and New Zealand Cricket and the catering licensee, Spotless Services Limited.
All were involved in providing a business plan, which proved the viability of the project and the
capability of Jade Stadium Limited to repay the loan in the prescribed time frame.
Grants were also received for the project from other sources, including The Community Trust, The
Canterbury Foundation and the
Lotteries Grants Board. The business plan also explored other avenues for gaining additional
revenue; these included the possibility of naming rights, and by way of rental and the use of the
corporate facilities. With

Analyzing The Strengths Of Qualitative And Quantitative...
Q methodology was first introduced by psychologist William Stephenson (1902 1989). Q
methodology combines the strengths of both qualitative and quantitative methods (Brown,
1996). The method is one that studies subjectivity and can be used on various researches.
Subjectivity can be defined as a person s communication of his or her point of view and it is
always stems from a person s internal frame of reference (McKeown Thomas, 1988). An internal
frame of reference can refer to the personal viewpoint of the respondent; in this research, it is the
viewpoint of several people for reasons why project are delayed. This frame of reference has been

Hence, this reference provides much more information than a yes, no question ever did
(McKeown Thomas 1988). Q methodology uses the concept of ranking as simplified in Table 4.2.
By asking multiple people from SHTC to rank the 40 statements, the prioritization of these criteria
comes forth. All statements are based on people s opinion on why project delay, yet the
comparison with other people s opinions and ranking the statements will bring about the real
subjectivity (Brown, 1993). 4.1.2 The Q analysis process As the method revolves around the
ranking of statements, the process starts by defining these statements. This set of statements, also
referred to as the Q sample, should comprehensively represent the concourse: the sum of all things
people say or think about the issue being investigated. The concourse is most typically collected
through interviews and focus group discussions. In addition, sources such as publications, essays,
or any other sources related to the issue may be used. The collection of the concourse and the Q
sample is described in the previous chapter. What is in fact investigated is not just the concourse
itself, but the inherent operant structure that exists in the concourse or the Q sample (Dryzek,
Clark, McKenzie, 1989). The Q sample often exists of statements, however, it can be created from
basically anything: from words to paintings or even songs (Brown, 1996). With the Q sample, the
respondents can participate in the

Nonexistent Guidance In Antigone
Nonexistent Guidance There are multiple examples within literature where a character guides
the story directly without saying a single word. This is shown in Antigone by the characters of
the gods. Though the gods never speak directly in the play it is increasingly evident that their
presence is near to the heart of the story. Although, he is only mentioned once Dionysus has a
major role in the action of this work of tragic drama. Firstly, it is displayed to the reader that
Dionysus has a major part in the main events of the play when Antigone s reasoning for burying
Polyneices was related to the gods. During the time period of the play all audience members would
have known that to leave a body unburied was to allow its soul to wander aimlessly on earth
forever. Therefore, Creon s law prohibiting such action would be a violation of Polyneices eternal
future. In turn this caused Antigone s emotions for her brother to be aroused. Without the agitation
of such emotion Antigone would have stayed dormant and then these extremely tragic occurrences
would have never taken place. Without the involvement of Dionysus or any of the other gods the
sobering deaths of many other human beings would have been prevented. Though the gods have
none to say they have a major impact on the entire play and its events.... Show more content on

African Americans, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, American Indians and seniors (The National

Injury to the glomerulus and the tubules presents the onset of Intra renal failure (Matzke, 2011).
Some of the frequent causes for Intra renal failure are glomerulonephritis; pyelonephritis; and
tubular injury. Post renal failure develops from things like ureteroliths, tumors, or anatomic
impediments. Opposite of the acute form, the chronic form has a slow onset that has no early stage
symptoms. It is important to know that following an acute episode a chronic renal episode often
follows, and at this juncture the damage is irreversible. Glomerulonephritis and pyelonephritis
combined, has been reported to be the forerunner in as much as half the cases from acute to chronic
renal failure. Diabetes mellitus, renal vascular disease, such as atherosclerosis, hypertension,
polycystic kidney disease, drug damage, and nephrolith are all examples of other causes of
CKD (Pradeep, 2014). Biopsies of kidneys that suffered with CKD reveal smaller kidneys with
scarring on the tubules. Causes of kidney disease are wide ranging in number; however diabetes,
high blood pressure, inherited disease, and infection remain to be the contenders of cause
(Davidson, 2011). Acute kidney disease can be identified by anuria and oedema. CKD is often
called a silent killer, because instead of a sign, that would render immediate evidence, CKD only
provides symptoms that many don t know to correlate to renal issues. The symptoms may also

Managerial And Behavioural Theory Of The Firm
Introduction
With the roots of the neoclassical theory of the firm dating back to the 1770 s and some of the
more recent developments being some 80 years ago, it is understandable that economists have
begun to question how applicable the Neoclassical theory of the firm is to present day
corporations. (Lipczynski, Wilson, Goddard, 2009) Managerial and behavioural theories have been
developed with the intention of providing a more realistic insight into how contemporary
organisations function. This paper will address how the managerial and behavioural theories differ
to the neoclassical approach of the firm, and to what extent they enhance our understanding of
firms. In doing so Baumol s sales revenue maximisation and Williamson s ... Show more content on

At its most basic, neoclassical is reliant upon the surrounding market conditions controlling the
decisions of firms. The Neoclassical approach to the firm provides us with a market wide
framework from which we can make predictions on future outcomes.
During the eighteenth century economic thinking was heavily influenced by the growing textile
industry, where the majority of suppliers were producing homogenous products; leaving no motive
for the economic theory being developed to account for diverse market conditions. (Lipczynski,
Wilson, Goddard, 2009) According to The Modern Corporation and Private Property Revised
Edition (1969) written by Berle and Means, out of The 200 Largest Non Financial Corporations in
the United States the number classed as Management Controlled increased from 88 to 169 from
1929 to 1963 respectively. (Berle and Means, 1968) Amidst the globalisation of firms and the rise
of the stock exchange, firms have become more complex and there ownership has become more
diluted. The supermarket industry is an example of how firms have become more multifaceted;
selling thousands of heterogeneous products, buying from countless suppliers and being owned by
whoever chooses to buy shares on the stock exchange. Due to firms increasing in both size and
complexity, owners of firms often employ teams of managers to run their

Cultural Revolution Mao
A revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall
Evaluate the accuracy of this statement in relation to the causes of the Chinese cultural revolution
A revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall. This statement by
Che Guevara suggests that in order for a revolution to occur, the leaders must not hesitate, but
rather, they should take immediate and effective actions. This quote is particularly accurate for the
Chinese Cultural Revolution, because the main leader of the Revolution Mao Zedong was able to
manipulate the public, thus enabling him to bring about a revolution. The Cultural Revolution
occurred as a result of the failures in the Great Leap Forward, and officially, Mao claimed that the
goal of the Chinese Cultural Revolution is to build a society surrounding the proletariats by
bringing back revolutionary spirit. However, it became increasingly clear that Mao s real intentions
were rather personal, as he used the Cultural Revolution to re establish his power as the Chairman
of the Communist Party of China.
The Cultural Revolution was Mao s response to the disasters of the Great Leap Forward, during
which at least 30 million Chinese people starved to death in the span of 5 years (Ben Walsh). In
1959, Mao admitted that I also have an indirect share of the blame... I don t want other people to
shirk their responsibility. (Phillip Short). This suggests that even though Mao was aware that his

Napoleon Hero or Tyrant?
Napoleon Bonaparte goes down in history as one the greatest military commanders of all time.
Many consider him a hero of the French people and the people of the conquered lands spreading
his reforms everywhere. Others believe that he is a tyrant, oppressing citizens and engaging in
aggressive unnecessary wars. This is a controversial topic and both sides can bring up
compelling arguments. First we must define a hero and tyrant, a hero is someone who is
courageous, brave and positively impacts people around him and leaves a legacy. Napoleon
directly fits that definition. A tyrant is a cruel oppressive ruler who treats people unfairly.

My Understanding of Extremism and Domestic Terrorism Essay

individuals or groups outside the perceived political center of a society; or otherwise claimed to
violate common moral standards. In democratic societies, individuals or groups which advocate that
democracy should be replaced with some kind of authoritarian regime are usually branded
extremists.
There have been several terrorist acts committed in the United States of America, not by terrorists

Americans feel that after 911, the sense of patriotism and support for the government should have
been at an all time high. However, strict government reforms and new laws that have tightened
and, what some feel, interfere with some of our freedoms since 911 have drastically upset many of
the extremist groups and militias. Militia members have intense hatred or fear toward the
government and believe that there are federal conspiracies in which the government is planning to
disarm its citizens. Hatred for the government grows out of these faucets as it faces these groups
with opposition and attempts to expose them. Anti government extremists are a large part of the

He got his first chance when Assisi declared war on their longtime enemy, the nearby town of
Perugia. When Francis was just barely twenty years old, he fought in the war between Assisi
and Perugia and was taken prisoner. Most of the troops from Assisi were butchered in the fight.
Only those wealthy enough to expect to be ransomed were taken prisoner. At last Francis was
among the nobility like he always wanted to be, but chained in a harsh, dark dungeon. All
accounts say that he never lost his happy manner in that horrible place. Finally, after a year in
the dungeon, he was ransomed. Strangely, the experience didn t seem to change him. He gave
himself to partying with as much joy and abandon as he had before the battle. That period
shaped the young man s soul and the weaker his body became, the more deeply his sense of
charity and love towards others took root in him. By the time he returned to Assisi, he was
seriously ill. His mother s loving care and time itself brought him back to health, but the carefree
life he had led before and which had started again by now, seemed empty to him. Driven by his
dreams of being a soldier, he decided to follow a condottiere to the southern region of Apulia, but
when he had gotten as far as Spoleto, the Lord appeared to him one night in a dream and ordered
him to turn back. The words of God echoed in his mind like a summons. This marked the beginning
of his gradual

Tang Dynasty Achievements
Humans have made huge accomplishments throughout history. Many of these accomplishments
have changed the world. Some of these accomplishments have come from dynasties and empires
that wanted to expand their knowledge and ideas. Some of these things have affected other
civilizations after them and some didn t have that much of an impact. A lot of these achievements
and accomplishments are basic things in our everyday lives that these civilizations have took time
and effort to come up with. Ancient Chinahas been one of the numerous places that have made

Many civilizations made accomplishments in farming but the Tang s accomplishments were
very important. One of the biggest advancements in farming was the three field system. The
three field system was a system in the Tang dynasty where everyone gets enough arable land to
farm and produce food for themselves. This was important because it allowed every family to
have a food and it prevented the very wealthy people from buying up all of the land. In other
dynasties and empires, rich people buying all of the land was a major problem. The Tang wanted
to avoid this because they knew the outcome of having a rich people controlling all of the
farming land. The middle class and poor people wouldn t be able to live and the economy would
be very bad. This system gave people land according to their needs. For example, older people
and widows got less land than a man with a family. (Theobald, 2015) Every adult male was
allowed eighty mu, which was a measurement of land, old and sick people were allowed forty mu,
widows received thirty mu, and lower class merchants and craftsmen got ten mu. This system
benefited the economy because since everyone had enough food, they could specialize in their own
crafts like blacksmithing and art. Another benefit from the food surplus that this system brought is
that the government found a new strain of rice that grew much quicker and was less work to grow.
This gave the Tang an

Looking For Alaska Challenges
Challenges are a part of everyday life, and they change us in different and unexpected ways. The
theme challenges create change (within individuals) can be a pivotal part of a text. Characters
and people that face challenges have to change their ways of thinking, or even their lives in order
to overcome these challenges. The texts Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, Every Day by David
Levithan, Looking for Alaska by John Greenand Not If I See You First by Eric Lindstrom all show
how challenges create changein not just one individual but multiple people throughout the texts.
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell is a text that has excellent examples of how challenges can create
change. One challenge faced is when Baz s mother comes back from the dead and gives ... Show

In his book, A is a person that moves from body to body every day but never having a body or life
of their own. David Levithan shows us how the challenge of love creates change through Rhiannon
and A. It s as if when you love someone, they become your reason (pg 76). A lets this love define
them, risking other people s lives in order to be with the person they love, even though they
know they shouldn t I know I am not supposed to interfere (pg 127). This shows how A has
changed, because, before A met Rhiannon, they would never have strayed from the daily
routine of another person s body. Now I m letting my life hijack all these other lives for a day. I
am no staying within the parameters. Even if that s dangerous (pg 68). A is also incredibly
challenged by not having their own body and their own life. I am not a part of this and will
never be a part of something like this (pg 268). I can never have these things (pg 302). They
know that they will never be able to have their own friends, their own job or their own life.
Because of this, it is hard for A to find themself. When A was younger it was incredibly difficult
for them to not have a tomorrow, because everyone around them did. This is because instead of
living thinking of the next day, or the next week, or the next month like we do, A lives day to day,
assuming people s personalities and bodies. A s lack of body also

Death of General Wolfe Essay
Analysis of The Death of General Wolfe by Benjamin West
In 1770, artist Benjamin Wolfe completed what would become his most controversial and talked
about piece of artwork, an oil on canvas painting titled The Death of General Wolfe, the purpose of
which was to teach a moral lesson. The Death of General Wolfe portrays the Battle of Quebec, but
more specifically it details the moment when Major General James Wolfewas on his deathbed
shortly after the British had driven the French away in victory. Although this piece is considered
to be historical since it details a true event, the details in it prove to be fabricated for the sake of
art. Benjamin West was truly a remarkable artist who required no formal art education to learn how

The fact that the clouds are passing by and opening can represent two things. The first is that it
can be a symbol of General Wolfe, and as the clouds pass over head, his soul will similarly pass
over and die. Second is that the passing clouds can be viewed as a sign of hope that the battle is
now over and people can live peacefully. One other piece of symbolism is the flag behind
General Wolfe, which serves as a directional force. Since it is pointed at both General Wolfe and
the sky, it signifies the fact that Wolfe s soul will go up onto Heaven. The colors in this piece are
instrumental in moving the eye across the piece and drawing attention to specific parts of the
piece. For instance, for the most part, the colors that are used are dark. However, to emphasize
General Wolfe, the focal point in the middle, his outfit is painted in a brighter red and yellow
and the ground beneath him is light as well. Also, in order to allow the eye to glide across the
painting almost all of the soldier s uniforms are red, creating rhythm. One solider, who is
apparently rushing into see Wolfe, is painted in green, which is the complimentary color to red.
The use of complimentary colors brings the eyes attention to the panicked solider, emphasizing
the overall sense of urgency in the piece. The piece is also well balanced and uses appropriate
scales and proportions. Overall I think West was successful in his piece. I admire the

Jean Renoir Rules Of The Game Film Techniques
Film has often been an accurate representation of a time period s culture. Rules of the Game is no
exception with its portrayal of women and their relationships with each other and with men. Jean
Renoir uses Rules of the Game to make statements on the expectations and perceptions of women
by techniques of cinematography. Although often not a favorable representation, Renoir portrays
women differently than society would have expected. Through camerafocus, angles, and distance,
Jean Renoir demonstrates the contradictions between the expectations of women and the reality of
their behavior, but with negative undertones. Renoir uses mirrors and camera angles to represent
Christine and Lisette s flaws of character and the deception in their

A Brief Look at Charlie Chaplin
Every day millions of Americans go to theaters with their families to enjoy movies. Watching films
has become one of the most popular activities to do. Although plenty of people know of Charlie
Chaplin, most do not know any real information about him. Charlie Chaplin has been a major
contributor to America s advancement in the filmindustry from his innovative beginnings, and
perseverance to improve and succeed, to his overall achievements in history. Charlie Chaplin
was born in South London on April 16, 1889. He was the first child of Hannah and Charles
Chaplin. Charles was vaudeville actor. Hannah was a vaudeville singer. Charlie s father was a
drunk and he later left his family when he was three years old when he found out his wife had an
affair with another actor, Leo Dryden. They soon had a child named George, who left to live
with his father. Since Hannah was now a single mother, she was struggling to find a way to
provide for her children. She had another son that was older than Charlie, from a previous
relationship (Schwartz). Hannah s singing alone was not enough to earn her the money to care
for two boys. She took up sweatshop work on a sewing machine she rented to earn extra income.
Due to the small amount of income they had, Charlie s family moved in and out of orphanages
and boys homes on a regular basis. Hannah s career as a singer ended abruptly in 1894. She lost
her voice during a performance. While the crowd was getting rowdy and starting to throw things

Stereotype Threat And Self Handicapping
For the past century, stereotype threat and self handicapping have been of extreme interest to
social psychologists. The reasoning behind why people react in certain ways due to the
circumstances they are in is a huge discussion topic that interests the field in big way. Stereotype
threat occurs when an individual is at risk of confirming a negative stereotypeabout them or about
one s group (Steele Aronson, 1995). Previous research has shown that being the victim of a
stereotype threat can actually alter one s performance (Spencer,Steele, Quinn, 1998). Studies have
shown an effect of stereotype on performance in relation to many different domains. One particular
experiment done by Spencer, Steele Quinn (1998) wanted to observe if the stereotype that women
have weaker math ability compared to men would hinder math performance. The results showed
that being explicitly primed of this stereotype prior to taking a difficult math test led to an
impairment in math performance within women compared to men. This suggests that being the
victim to a negative stereotype can indeed affect one s performance. The previously stated evidence
shows that negative stereotypesmight have a much bigger impact on individuals than we may think.
Previous research has furthered this notion and shown that self handicapping is often used in order
to cope with being the victim of a stereotype threat (Stone, 2002). Self handicapping is defined as
the opportunity to excuse failure and internalize

Alexander The Great Greek Crusader
Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his homeland. He
established an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent
to which Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek
Crusader and Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and
replaced them with the democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it
meant to be Greek had become estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able
to embody this Greek culture as the King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an
issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek
Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of vengeance against the Persian sacrilege
or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the use of force. The term Persian King
could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but also their customs and the
favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the way they were viewed
and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the statement is. First of all,
we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could trace his ancestry
through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire his later
actions. From a young age he was influenced by Hellenic culture; under the reign

Theme Of Colour In The Great Gatsby
L1 Essay The importance of colour in The Great Gatsby
In the following essay, I will write about the usage and the importance of colour in F. Scott
Fitzgerald s novel, basing my arguments on the text and giving examples from it.
Colour plays a vital part in The Great Gatsby as it helps to illustrate many of the passages and
helps the reader to create a clearer image of what is taking place. It also plays a significant role in
the shaping up of the characters as colour is also associated with them.
The colours that are most frequently used throughout the novel are green, white, blue, yellow and
grey. Each colour has a symbolic meaning and they add to make the novel more colourful and also
more surreal.
In Western culture, the colour green... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Involuntarily I glanced seaward and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and
far away, that might have been the end of a dock. When I looked once more for Gatsby he had
vanished, and I was alone again in the unquiet darkness. (p.25)
The light is described as minute and far away , which portrays the impossibility of achieving this
dream. Nevertheless, Gatsby seems hopeful throughout the entire novel.
Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded
us then, but that s no matter tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther . . . And one
fine morning So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. (p. 171)
In The Great Gatsby, white is mainly associated with Daisy and Jordan and represents beauty and
innocence. When Nick meets Daisy and Jordan for the first time, they both wear rippling and
fluttering white dresses. White is often used to symbolize purity and cleanliness but also emptiness

Demand And Supply Of Oil Prices
The sporadic nature of oil prices has over the years posed as a great deal of concern to
economists, investors, financiers, consumers, analysts and other relevant stakeholders. In a perfect
market, the price of a commodity is an indication of the present circumstances as well as future
signals that could impact demand and supply. Ordinarily, we expect prices of commodities to
move in response to changes that affect demand and supply at a relatively normal rate. When
prices change drastically within a short period and consistently over time, then such market is
fraught with high volatility a typical case of the crude oil market. A sudden increase in oil price
becomes a concern for the consumer as it results into a reduction in his purchasing power; thereby
struggling with allocation of income among competing demands. For an investor, high price
volatility increases risk associated with the investment and also creates uncertainties. High volatility
will impact the macroeconomic variables in an economy including but not limited to
unemployment, inflation, consumption, investment and industrial output (Ebrahim, Inderwildi et
al. 2014a). This paper seeks to evaluate oil price volatility by examining the trend of oil price
from 1970 to 2013. Attempts will be made to explain the causes and root factors influencing price
changes. Finally, a view on whether oil price volatility is inevitable will be established. Annual

Norris And Soloway Analysis
Professor Cathleen A. Norris and Professor Elliot Soloway write positive information about the
benefits of the Internet in education. They say that, wealthy or not, the internet provides our youth
with an unequivocal access to knowledge and unmatched ability to communicate. Specifically,
Norris and Soloway argue that, For a youth living below the poverty line in Detroit, an Internet
connected smartphone is arguably the most empowering opportunity in that child s life (qtd. in
Greenblatt). While they point out the positive benefit of connectivity and access to information,
they also touch on the need for a guiding hand. Norris and Soloway go on to say how educationwill

An Article On The Point Of Flashpoint
The Point of Flashpoint While searching for the right research topic for me, I took into
consideration everything I had written about in all of my essays before. From dogs to Walmart
nothing seemed to stick with me. Every topic I chose seemed to fall through within the first 5
minutes of brainstorming. At first I wanted to write about cockatoos, which in hindsight was a
poor decision on my part. Then I thought about religion and was interested in the topic,
unfortunately Logan was already writing about Christianity and Buddhism. So once again I was
left without a topic and nowhere to begin looking for one. So while I was researching for topics I
stumbled upon an article about the new season of the flashon Netflix, and then it hit me! A... Show

knowledge I have learned, there is also so much I have not.
What I want to Know After all the comics and tv shows that I have seen, I have never heard the
origin stories of the other three Flash s. Who were they? Did they all get their speed the same
way as Barry? In the comics, shows and films I have seen, it is never stated what The Flash s top

  • 2. The Determinant Of A Successful Career The sports industry is an intense, highly competitive field of work which involves a great deal of patience, dedication, and hard work. Not a lot of people have what it takes to stay in the business for long but Mike Tomlin knows exactly what it takes. He is a wonderful role model for people looking to do something similar or to be a coach like himself. Being able to communicate properly with the players as well as other people in this area of work is what will be the determinant of a successful career. By watching how Tomlin conducts himself I can learn what I have to do in order to be a successful coach one day. Mike Tomlin was born in Hampton, Virginia, on March 15th, 1972, and is currently 44 years old. He has two brothers and is the youngest in his family. In high school, Tomlin was an all star, he set his school record with 20 touchdown catches. Due to his success in high school, he continued his academic career at the College of William and Mary. During his time in college, he joined the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi and was also a member of the football team as a tight end and wide receiver. In 1994, he was a second team All Yankee Conference selection. Also during college, Tomlin coached for the Virginia Military Institute for the wide receivers. The next year he was a coach for the defensive backs and special teams as graduate assistant for the University of Memphis. In 1997, Tomlin worked for Arkansas State University, where he was a coach for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1607 John Smith was captured and as he told it stopped his execution . • 4. Evolution Of The Internet And Network Protocols The Evolution of the Internet and Network Protocols The internet has revolutionized the modern world like no other invention has before, except perhaps, electricity. The internet allows sharing and collaboration to take place between people on opposite sides of the globe. Vinton G. Cerf, often called the Father of the Internet , admits that when the original idea of an intranet was in its infancy, there was no possible way to imagine all of the ways we would come to use it (NDTV, 2013). But how does it work? The internet, based on the concept of packet switching , involves the travelling of small packets of data over one or more networks (Frenzel, 2013). This can be compared to electronic postcards , meaning that a computer generates a piece of data and flings it into the net, just like the postal system, except 100 million times faster (Cerf, 2013). This concept allows one computer to speak to many different computers around the network by sending out these electronic postcards . However, before these networks can work seamlessly together, they must use a common protocol, or set of rules for transmitting and receiving these packets of data. There are several protocols currently in use, including the OSI Model, the TCP/IP Model, UDP, HTTP, and FDP (Mitchell, 2014), but the most commonly used is Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) (Gilmer, 2011). Even as early as 1977, TCP/IP was being used by other networks to link to ARPANET (Kozierok, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Movie Moonlight By Barry Jenkins Imagine if you go outside your front door and you look left. There are two people dealing cocaine. You look right and there is someone being robbed with a gun. The movie Moonlight tells a story about a kid named Chiron who was different from everyone else, because he is different he got picked on and got taken advantage by everyone else including his mother, Paula. When Chiron had an opportunity to start all over he pretended to be someone he wasn t so he could survive and be respected by others. The film shows Chiron in the parts of his life, when he was a kid the others called him Little, throughout his teenage years he was called Chiron, and as an adult he was Black. The movie took place in Miami, Florida in the hood around the 1980 s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the scene where Chiron is driving around in his car with a man it is clearly visible that Chiron has changed. He is wearing baggy shorts with a tank top showing off his muscles and has a gold grill. He passes some hood members and he pulls out a pistol for protection. This proves if Chiron didn t adapt and become tough then he would ve still been taken advantage of and probably killed. Another very important scene within the movie is when he meets his mother when he is older. His mother emphasizes I messed up. I fucked it all the way up. I know that. But yo heart ain t gotta be black like mine baby. This shows that Chiron s mother knows she messed up and adapted to the way of life within their city and she is noticing that he is changing as well. This relates to society because in all different places around the world especially in dangerous areas, if the people who live within those areas adapt to the lifestyle than they could be in huge danger. Violencehas a major existence in these areas which is a big cause of people needing to adapt, In communities where gangs thrive, violence and intimidation are common occurrences...Other behaviors in which gang members engage that present serious threat to law abiding communities include assault with deadly weapons, home invasion, arson, intimidation of victims and witnesses, and car theft. • 7. My Best Moments In My Life Of My Family Do you have that special person in your life that no matter what situation you are going through they manage to put a smile on your face? There are some people in life that makes you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger, and live a little better. For me, this special person happens to be my best friend Alexia Reese. Some of my best moments in life involves her. She is so full of laughter and joy. Her humor style is definitely one of a kind, very weird and crazy. The one time Alexia could not stop laughing was one of the most embarrassing days of her life. She had just applied and received an interview at her dream job in the beauty department. She was beyond excited and nervous all at once. Alexia said The one thing that makes me truly happy other than making people laugh is beating my face . I remember receiving over twenty phone calls from her right before her interview that morning. We tried serval techniques trying to get her to calm down a little. Once her name was called her stomach immediately sunk to her feet. Sitting across from the store manager answering question after question she felt sweat dripping from her forehead. Then he asked her Why should we hire you for this job ? Alexia was not prepared for this question. Her mind went completely blank. The room was super quiet. Next thing you know she let out a huge fart that sounded like a gun being fired. She finally responded, I shouldn t have eaten McDonald s before I came here huh ? Her face was full ... • 8. The Meaning Of Islam And Islam The meaning of Islam is submission to one God. The central point or belief in Islam is to believe in the existence of only one God or Allah. The religion revolves around this one belief known as tawhid. This idea occurs in other religions such as Judaism and Christianity. All of these authentic religions speak of the same God as Islamis the reassertion of the revelation of God to Abraham, Noah and Christ. Islam considers these great figures as prophets and they are included in the Quran, the holy book of Islam. Quran which is the word of God says that there are ninety nine names of God which are distributed into Perfection, Majesty, and Beauty. Some of them include: the Just, the Majestic, the Giver of Death, the Victorious, the All Powerful, the All Merciful, the Forgiver and the Generous. The belief in the Oneness of God is very essential as the most basic testifications or shahadas state: There is no god but God (Allah) and Muhammad is the messenger of God. Allah has defined human beings not as sinful but as beings that carry their primordial nature but negligence has made them forget that nature. Islam was sent for remembrance of the knowledge of the One. For this reason, the greatest sin acquired by human beings is not disobedience as said in Christianity but it is shirk which is denying the Oneness of God and taking a partner onto God. God has provided the human race with the intelligence for them to know the One and no forget and shirk is a crime that would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of these gods have their animal forms and manifestation, their significance was closely connected to animals they stood for. Actually, the animal they represented was determining the characteristics of a certain deity, for example, the birds such as hawk or ibis were often considered the symbol of wisdom and protection. • 11. Heavy Metal Assessment Of Cosmetic Products Essay Heavy metal assessment of some cosmetic products by ICP/OES Abstract: It has been shown that heavy metals toxicity to humans is as a result of long term or high level exposure to pollutants common in the environment including the air, water, food and numerous consumer products such as the cosmetics and toiletries. Cosmetics are seen as one of the most important sources of releasing heavy metals into the environment and the human biological system. Thus Cosmetic products must not be harmful under normal or foreseeable conditions of use. Four different samples of cosmetics (Foundation, Kohl, Blusher, and Lipstick) were analyzed in Al Madina SAES laboratory for water and food analysis to determine the levels of heavy metals (As, Pb, Zn, Hg, and Cu) in the products. Concentrations of the selected heavy metals were determined by using inductively coupled plasma/optical emission spectroscopy (ICP/OES). As and Cu were not found in all samples except in foundation sample found in concentration 0.0056 ppm for as and 0.006116 ppm for Cu, lead ranged between 0.03 0.92 ppm. Mercury ranged between 0.04 1.49 ppm, and Zinc ranged between 0.026 0.091ppm. 1. Introduction: Personal care products and facial cosmetics are commonly used by millions of consumers on a daily basis. These products are directly applied to human skin and mainly produce local exposure to certain ingredients. The Revolution Of The 1905 Revolution Essay This along with his eagerness to arrest, imprison, exile, and hang his opponents only further divided the tsar from the working class, earning him the nickname Nicholas the Bloody (Khrustalev and M. Steinberg 25). The Russian people no longer felt safe under the tsar s rule. With more instances of brutality accumulating on top of one another, the 1905 Revolution was inevitable. Albeit the violent suppression of the 1905 Revolution, in the end it was regarded by revolutionaries as semi successful. Nicholas II agreed to the institution of the State Duma, a limited form of representative democracy, citing it as the revival of a custom and as a means to better hear the voice of the Russian people. (Khrustalev and M. Steinberg 19). Although the Duma allowed for slightly more political involvement by the people, the tsar remained the supreme autocrat (Chamberlin). Nicholas II s rule continued, albeit much shakier than before. He decided to convene the Duma four times altogether, each time experiencing conflict stemming from their calls for liberal reform and Nicholas s refusal to compromise (Chamberlin). In the wake of the 1905 Revolution, Nicholas II was committed to the ideal that traditionally conservative values and structures were necessary for Russia s survival, and that failure to maintain these policies would be the cause of the decline of Russia sovereignty (Khrustalev and Steinberg 5). • 13. The Code Of Chivalry In The Lord Of The Green Knight The implementation of this code is heavy throughout the poem, we are faced with few truly prominent characters, but what characters we are presented with by the narrator exemplify both the positive and negative aspects of upholding the Code of Chivalry, while also enforcing ideas of Christianity as well. The first element of the chivalric code, while not inherently Christian in nature, it still holds bearing as one of the key elements throughout, is when the Lord of the castle that Gawain stumbles upon, lets him stay and have a place to rest before he heads off to Green Chapel (the area where the Green Knight resides) to battle the Green Knight. This is a critical form of feudalism at a time and establishes the relationship between a lord and his vassal, the Lord is providing a place to stay while Gawain promises that he shall dwell here and do what you deem good for me , this establishes the chivalric relationships between the two men. Not only does this interaction establish the importance of the chivalric code between these two men, but when they make the promise to exchange whatever the Lord hunts for in the woods and whatever Gawain receives during his time in the castle during the day, also solidifies this vassal/lord relationship. There is also an establishment of the courtly love theme in this section, which is key to most chivalric tales told at this time and would ve been essential to audiences at this time, we are presented with the lady of the castle, who had ... • 14. Justice System In 12 Angry Men On October 3, 1955 one of America s most immense juror cases had finally announced a verdict , O.J Simpson was found not guilty in killing his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman Nicole s friend. Only to find out years later that O.J. was actually guilty for this crime, when detectives went to O.J. s estate home they found multiple evidence such as blood all over his white Bronco, hairs of his on Ron s shirt, and even footprints of Simpson s shoe size. Was the United States justicesystem so corrupt and prejudice to the point that they let a guilty man free just because of his social status and money. Simpson displays the main topic in the short story 12 Angry Men which is whether the United States has a prejudice unfair justice system. Sidney Lumetand Reginald Rose the writers and directors of 12 Angry Men wrote and produced a play about 12 jurors that briefly discuss a trial and come to a verdict , personal issues develop which causes conflict and only makes the process more grueling. The accused boy is being found guilty for murdering his father, 12 jurors are put in a hot room in New York and spend hours briefly viewing the scenario. Although one might think that the justice system should be left in the hands of citizens ,the director of 12 Angry Men , Sidney Lumet demonstrate that the United States justice system is unfair and is simply corrupt , inefficient , and unjust due to the jurors biased way of thinking, ignorant attitude ,and the lack of ... The tree in A Work of Artifice and the monster in Frankensteinare outcasts on society itself, the main characters of each are actually very similar and so is the misconception that falls on both main characters in both pieces of work. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the creature from Frankenstein and the bonsai tree from A Work of Artifice hold similar traits and characteristics. Victor Frankenstein, the creature s creator, and the gardener, the bonsai tree s creator hold similar traits and characteristics as well. The theme of alienation and loneliness both present themselves in these pieces. The tree longs for freedom and to grow and stretch out as long as it wants to. Could have grown eighty feet tall on the side of a mountain (Piercy 3 4). This quote shows exactly the longing for growth upon it. But a gardener carefully pruned it. It is nine inches high. Every day as he whittles back the branches the gardener croons, It is your nature to be small and cozy. (Piercy 6 13). Instead of the tree expanding out and growing to its full potential like it would like to do, the gardener cuts it down every day and prevents it from growing at all. The tree has to sit alone in a pot, and not prosper and thrive to be the biggest and tallest tree there it wants to be. This theme presents itself in Frankenstein also, All men hate the wretched; how, then, must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all living things! Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature, to whom thou art bound by ties only dissoluble by annihilation of one of us (Shelley 95). • 16. Views On Humanity In the beginning God made all of creation and looked around and saw that it was good, and this includes us, humanity. We were good in the beginning, created perfect, holy, and righteous, made in the image of God s own self. God also gave us the freedom of choice, the free will to decide to follow our selfish desires or to follow the will of God. Back in the beginning Adam made that choice, biting into the forbidden fruit and bringing sin into the world. Humanity fallen from holiness was cast out of the garden and so we find ourselves broken and blinded to God by our own sin. Since that time humanity has been torn between the righteousness we were created for and the desires of our own flesh, each day confronted with the same choice as Adam. Opening my Facebook today I see humanity for all that it is. I see the ugly side in arguments about abortion, discrimination of many kinds, animal life vs. human life, war, marriage, poverty, and violence. Then I also see posts from mission trips and the good works being done. I see a post about street pastors who go out on weekends to care for others and in their words this means sometimes someone needs to talk and sometimes they just needa bottle of water but whatever it is that is their need they are there to try to meet it. I see posts about new life and growing babies. I see posts about those who are dealing with loss. Laughing and crying, yelling and sighing, anger and joy. This is humanity the huge complexity of God s good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was also one of the founding artists of Mad in 1952. Severin was insucted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2003 before passing away in 2012. Severin s strongest aspects of this piece are framing, line work, and detail. The framing is successful with the archway in the foreground of the environment. This black arch frames the whole piece. The hatching in the cloak of the character shows directionality without becoming too complicated can being distracting. The black placement in the cloak weights the character provides ground for him and the mailbox to sit on. The reproduction of a character is sometimes difficult to achieve without matching a certain style. Severin successfully achieves drawing Bilbo Baggins and having him recognizable, despite the name on the mail box to push recognition. The weakest aspect of the piece is acting. Bilbo is stiff, and white he is in the act of taking the mail out of the mailbox, he breaks the fourth wall by looking at the viewer. It would be more successful acting if he was looking at the action he was performing. The strongest aspect of this piece is line direction. In the water they encircle the action, and in the rocks they lead the viewer down into the water. They also aid in the creation of texture, rhythm, pattern, and framing. The texture created by the lines in the water reflect ripples that would actually occur in the real world. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, one individual controlling many citizens is a tenuous circumstance. Controlled chaos, hyperbolized real life theater, maintains the power of leaders by promoting a sense of fear, unpredictability and helplessness amongst constituents. Many Roman leaders perceive their hold on power to be tenuous at best, and this insecurity also drives rash actions. On the other hand, powerful leaders rely on certain structures that serve their power. Indeed, these structures also support the illusion and confusion. Nero finds what people need and then seeks to control that need for his own benefit. To build his own house he exerts tremendous control by taking away something that matters to the populace. One relationship that can be correlated is the relationship among cannabis use and neuropsychological impairment for teenagers. In the present paper, I will explain the role that cannabis plays on neuropsychological testperformance. It is hypothesized that persistent cannabis use at a younger age can be associated with neuropsychological impairments. I will explain my findings by examining a peer reviewed article and news article that was closely related to this article and study to support this thesis. Second, does decline mostly occur with users who start as teenagers? With this in mind, Henry James s The Real Thing and The Beast in the Jungle are two works wherein such characteristics can be shown to operate as James employs cleverly woven twists of appearance and reality in each of the plots. In James s The Real Thing, the plot is centered on an unnamed artist and his interactions with two sets of models: the Monarchs (members of genteel society), and Miss Churm and Oronte (members of the working class). Q methodology combines the strengths of both qualitative and quantitative methods (Brown, 1996). The method is one that studies subjectivity and can be used on various researches. Subjectivity can be defined as a person s communication of his or her point of view and it is always stems from a person s internal frame of reference (McKeown Thomas, 1988). By asking multiple people from SHTC to rank the 40 statements, the prioritization of these criteria comes forth. All statements are based on people s opinion on why project delay, yet the comparison with other people s opinions and ranking the statements will bring about the real subjectivity (Brown, 1993). 4.1.2 The Q analysis process As the method revolves around the ranking of statements, the process starts by defining these statements. This set of statements, also referred to as the Q sample, should comprehensively represent the concourse: the sum of all things people say or think about the issue being investigated. The concourse is most typically collected through interviews and focus group discussions. In addition, sources such as publications, essays, or any other sources related to the issue may be used. The collection of the concourse and the Q sample is described in the previous chapter. What is in fact investigated is not just the concourse itself, but the inherent operant structure that exists in the concourse or the Q sample (Dryzek, Clark, McKenzie, 1989). Although, he is only mentioned once Dionysus has a major role in the action of this work of tragic drama. Firstly, it is displayed to the reader that Dionysus has a major part in the main events of the play when Antigone s reasoning for burying Polyneices was related to the gods. During the time period of the play all audience members would have known that to leave a body unburied was to allow its soul to wander aimlessly on earth forever. Therefore, Creon s law prohibiting such action would be a violation of Polyneices eternal future. In turn this caused Antigone s emotions for her brother to be aroused. You have to make it fall Evaluate the accuracy of this statement in relation to the causes of the Chinese cultural revolution A revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall. This statement by Che Guevara suggests that in order for a revolution to occur, the leaders must not hesitate, but rather, they should take immediate and effective actions. This quote is particularly accurate for the Chinese Cultural Revolution, because the main leader of the Revolution Mao Zedong was able to manipulate the public, thus enabling him to bring about a revolution. The Cultural Revolution occurred as a result of the failures in the Great Leap Forward, and officially, Mao claimed that the goal of the Chinese Cultural Revolution is to build a society surrounding the proletariats by bringing back revolutionary spirit. However, it became increasingly clear that Mao s real intentions were rather personal, as he used the Cultural Revolution to re establish his power as the Chairman of the Communist Party of China. The Cultural Revolution was Mao s response to the disasters of the Great Leap Forward, during which at least 30 million Chinese people starved to death in the span of 5 years (Ben Walsh). My Understanding of Extremism and Domestic Terrorism Essay My understanding of extremism is that it s a term used to describe the actions or ideologies of individuals or groups outside the perceived political center of a society; or otherwise claimed to violate common moral standards. In democratic societies, individuals or groups which advocate that democracy should be replaced with some kind of authoritarian regime are usually branded extremists. There have been several terrorist acts committed in the United States of America, not by terrorists that live in other countries and despise the American ways and ideas, but by our own citizens who live and work in the United States of America. However, strict government reforms and new laws that have tightened and, what some feel, interfere with some of our freedoms since 911 have drastically upset many of the extremist groups and militias. Militia members have intense hatred or fear toward the government and believe that there are federal conspiracies in which the government is planning to disarm its citizens. Hatred for the government grows out of these faucets as it faces these groups with opposition and attempts to expose them. Anti government extremists are a large part of the radicals that cause a lot of the domestic terrorism. They are driven by their strong beliefs and goals and believe that they are correct in their thinking and the government is wrong. Domestic extremists are driven by internal factors and pursue a domestic agenda. Although anti government extremists are a large part of the domestic terrorism group. • 41. francis of assisi Essay Francis of Assisi was a poor man who astounded and inspired the Church by taking the gospel literally not in a narrow fundamentalist sense, but by actually following all that Jesus said and did, joyfully, without limit and without a mite of self importance. Francis was famous for his love of all creation. He called for simplicity of life, poverty, and humility before God. He worked to care for the poor. Thousands were drawn to his sincerity, piety, and joy. In all his actions, Francis sought to follow fully and literally the way of lifedemonstrated by Christ in the Gospels. When Francis was just barely twenty years old, he fought in the war between Assisi and Perugia and was taken prisoner. Most of the troops from Assisi were butchered in the fight. Only those wealthy enough to expect to be ransomed were taken prisoner. At last Francis was among the nobility like he always wanted to be, but chained in a harsh, dark dungeon. All accounts say that he never lost his happy manner in that horrible place. Finally, after a year in the dungeon, he was ransomed. Strangely, the experience didn t seem to change him. He gave himself to partying with as much joy and abandon as he had before the battle. That period shaped the young man s soul and the weaker his body became, the more deeply his sense of charity and love towards others took root in him. By the time he returned to Assisi, he was seriously ill. His mother s loving care and time itself brought him back to health, but the carefree life he had led before and which had started again by now, seemed empty to him. Driven by his dreams of being a soldier, he decided to follow a condottiere to the southern region of Apulia, but when he had gotten as far as Spoleto, the Lord appeared to him one night in a dream and ordered him to turn back. Many civilizations made accomplishments in farming but the Tang s accomplishments were very important. One of the biggest advancements in farming was the three field system. The three field system was a system in the Tang dynasty where everyone gets enough arable land to farm and produce food for themselves. This was important because it allowed every family to have a food and it prevented the very wealthy people from buying up all of the land. In other dynasties and empires, rich people buying all of the land was a major problem. The Tang wanted to avoid this because they knew the outcome of having a rich people controlling all of the farming land. The middle class and poor people wouldn t be able to live and the economy would be very bad. This system gave people land according to their needs. For example, older people and widows got less land than a man with a family. (Theobald, 2015) Every adult male was allowed eighty mu, which was a measurement of land, old and sick people were allowed forty mu, widows received thirty mu, and lower class merchants and craftsmen got ten mu. This system benefited the economy because since everyone had enough food, they could specialize in their own crafts like blacksmithing and art. Another benefit from the food surplus that this system brought is that the government found a new strain of rice that grew much quicker and was less work to grow. This gave the Tang an ... The Death of General Wolfe portrays the Battle of Quebec, but more specifically it details the moment when Major General James Wolfewas on his deathbed shortly after the British had driven the French away in victory. The fact that the clouds are passing by and opening can represent two things. The first is that it can be a symbol of General Wolfe, and as the clouds pass over head, his soul will similarly pass over and die. Second is that the passing clouds can be viewed as a sign of hope that the battle is now over and people can live peacefully. One other piece of symbolism is the flag behind General Wolfe, which serves as a directional force. Since it is pointed at both General Wolfe and the sky, it signifies the fact that Wolfe s soul will go up onto Heaven. The colors in this piece are instrumental in moving the eye across the piece and drawing attention to specific parts of the piece. For instance, for the most part, the colors that are used are dark. However, to emphasize General Wolfe, the focal point in the middle, his outfit is painted in a brighter red and yellow and the ground beneath him is light as well. Also, in order to allow the eye to glide across the painting almost all of the soldier s uniforms are red, creating rhythm. One solider, who is apparently rushing into see Wolfe, is painted in green, which is the complimentary color to red. The use of complimentary colors brings the eyes attention to the panicked solider, emphasizing the overall sense of urgency in the piece. The piece is also well balanced and uses appropriate scales and proportions. Overall I think West was successful in his piece. I admire the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. A Brief Look at Charlie Chaplin Every day millions of Americans go to theaters with their families to enjoy movies. Watching films has become one of the most popular activities to do. Although plenty of people know of Charlie Chaplin, most do not know any real information about him. Charlie Chaplin has been a major contributor to America s advancement in the filmindustry from his innovative beginnings, and perseverance to improve and succeed, to his overall achievements in history. Charlie Chaplin was born in South London on April 16, 1889. He was the first child of Hannah and Charles Chaplin. Charles was vaudeville actor. Hannah was a vaudeville singer. Charlie s father was a drunk and he later left his family when he was three years old when he found out his wife had an affair with another actor, Leo Dryden. They soon had a child named George, who left to live with his father. Since Hannah was now a single mother, she was struggling to find a way to provide for her children. She had another son that was older than Charlie, from a previous relationship (Schwartz). Hannah s singing alone was not enough to earn her the money to care for two boys. She took up sweatshop work on a sewing machine she rented to earn extra income. Due to the small amount of income they had, Charlie s family moved in and out of orphanages and boys homes on a regular basis. Hannah s career as a singer ended abruptly in 1894. • 47. Stereotype Threat And Self Handicapping For the past century, stereotype threat and self handicapping have been of extreme interest to social psychologists. The reasoning behind why people react in certain ways due to the circumstances they are in is a huge discussion topic that interests the field in big way. Stereotype threat occurs when an individual is at risk of confirming a negative stereotypeabout them or about one s group (Steele Aronson, 1995). Previous research has shown that being the victim of a stereotype threat can actually alter one s performance (Spencer,Steele, Quinn, 1998). Studies have shown an effect of stereotype on performance in relation to many different domains. One particular experiment done by Spencer, Steele Quinn (1998) wanted to observe if the stereotype that women have weaker math ability compared to men would hinder math performance. The results showed that being explicitly primed of this stereotype prior to taking a difficult math test led to an impairment in math performance within women compared to men. This suggests that being the victim to a negative stereotype can indeed affect one s performance. The previously stated evidence shows that negative stereotypesmight have a much bigger impact on individuals than we may think. Previous research has furthered this notion and shown that self handicapping is often used in order to cope with being the victim of a stereotype threat (Stone, 2002). Self handicapping is defined as the opportunity to excuse failure and internalize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Alexander The Great Greek Crusader Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his homeland. He established an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent to which Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek Crusader and Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and replaced them with the democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it meant to be Greek had become estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able to embody this Greek culture as the King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of vengeance against the Persian sacrilege or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the use of force. The term Persian King could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but also their customs and the favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the way they were viewed and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the statement is. First of all, we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could trace his ancestry through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire his later actions. From a young age he was influenced by Hellenic culture; under the reign ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It also plays a significant role in the shaping up of the characters as colour is also associated with them. Demand And Supply Of Oil Prices The sporadic nature of oil prices has over the years posed as a great deal of concern to economists, investors, financiers, consumers, analysts and other relevant stakeholders. In a perfect market, the price of a commodity is an indication of the present circumstances as well as future signals that could impact demand and supply. Ordinarily, we expect prices of commodities to move in response to changes that affect demand and supply at a relatively normal rate. When prices change drastically within a short period and consistently over time, then such market is fraught with high volatility a typical case of the crude oil market. A sudden increase in oil price becomes a concern for the consumer as it results into a reduction in his purchasing power; thereby struggling with allocation of income among competing demands. For an investor, high price volatility increases risk associated with the investment and also creates uncertainties. High volatility will impact the macroeconomic variables in an economy including but not limited to unemployment, inflation, consumption, investment and industrial output (Ebrahim, Inderwildi et al. 2014a). This paper seeks to evaluate oil price volatility by examining the trend of oil price from 1970 to 2013. Attempts will be made to explain the causes and root factors influencing price changes.
