Women In Congo
The French term Fond de Commerce in English means stock and trade. However, in Congo, the
phrase has another meaning about the stock and trade of rape victims with international aid
organizations Warner. The Congo We Listen To.(2017).
. International aid organization listened to stories of rape. Communities and women decided that
they need access to international aid, so women started lying. The marketization and
commercialization of rape have caused an increase in women claiming to have been raped. Lying
about being raped became a job women and communities use rape as a source of income and
access to other resources. Complexity of violence

Congolese see the issues of rape and knew that women lied. Congolese worker knows when
women were lying about being raped but did not say anything given that Congolese aid workers
know that these women needed help. The only way for these women to get help was to lie.
There is an issue of statistical data in Congo given that the data is very hard to come by, and most
assume the numbers are likely higher than reported. Heaton, What Happened in Lunvigi? (2013).
However, Congolese aid workers questioned whether data was over reported are formed Congolese
aid workers. Rather the international aid organization is assumed that data is under reported and
that the number is probably much higher. Importantly, in 2002 there were ten organizations
working on sexual violence by 2010 there were three hundred organizations. Heaton. What

low number was reported by local doctors, and the high number reported by United Nations
officials. Warner. The Congo We Listen To.

The Sun And Moon Are Not Present Until The Fourth Day
Given that the Sun and Moon are not present until the fourth day, how can it be maintained that
the first three days are days in the sense that we now understand them? Our current day is
delineated via the earth s rotation in relation to the Sun no Sun, no 24 hour days. Even the
passage itself says this, for it says in Gen. 1:14: Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens
to separate the day from the night. And let them be . . . for days . It may be objected that,
regardless of whether or not we had a distant object in relation to which we might measure the
progression of the earths rotation, it nonetheless remained similar to what it is now. But this is by
no means clear, for the text itself maintains that the earth was radically and fundamentally different
at that time, being without form and void (v. 2). As such, any claim that the earth s rotation then
was similar to what it is now is based on an assumption: namely, that in spite of the fact that the
earth itself was physically different, natural processes such as its rotation were the same then as now.
This is a rather curious claim to make, for it is one of the primary charges leveled against those who
adhere to other interpretations of the days (and correspondingly, the age of the earth) by those with
whom we are disputing. Proponents of the calendar day interpretation frequently charge those with
whom they disagree, whether secular scientists or other believers, of assuming that natural
processes in

Examples Of Sexism In Television Shows
Nowadays, many of the television programs that many of us watch are usually sexist within their
dialogue. However, many of us are unaware of this because our attention is being entertained by the
show itself; so, we do not take the time to analyze and notice what we are truly watching. Many of
us are being sidetracked by the different situations/entertainment found in the show. For instance,
some examples used to cover up sexism in a television show are: comedy/humor, drama, sexuality,
and violence; however, television shows are not the only ones that use this, movies and
advertisements do too. The different examples, pull one s attention into the situation, rather than the
dialogue occurring between characters and how they speak to one another. However, there are
ways to unravel the sex linked differences between characters in television programs; we can
analyze the different forms in which different sex, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and
educational level individuals speak to one another. The intent of analyzing a television show is to
demonstrate the sex linked differences between a familyand their genderroles and humor and drama
are used to hide sexism. Furthermore, the sitcom The Middle will be used in order to prove and
evaluate the sexism that still occurs in many television programs.
The television program: The Middle, is a sitcom based on a family (the Hecks) of five, whom are:
mother (Frankie, 52), father (Mike, 54), son (Axl, 23), daughter (Sue, 21),

The Death Of Ivan And By Leo Tolstoy
In The Death of Ivan Ilych , Leo Tolstoy purposely focuses on Gerasim, the assistants Butler, to
establish a transformation in Ivan Ilych that makes him realize the true meaning of life. Gerasim is
used as an important tool through the events that lead up until Ivan s death. Through Gerasim, the
author conveys the themes of death, family, and propriety by emphasizing the impact that he
brings upon Ivan s life. Gerasim acts as a guide in the shift of Ivan s perception by helping Ivan
change his views and perspective towards death which no other person could have done if Gerasim
was removed from the novelette.
Ivan Ilych does not live his last years before death to his fullest potential and it is as if he is not
living at all. Ivan can not bring himself to accept death because he believes he does not deserve
to die and questions why this is happening to him. Ivan is not ready to face death so soon since
his life is going as planned. Ivan is lying to himself about him dying and tries to avoid the word
death by saying it, He went to his study, lay down, and once again was left alone with it. Face to
face with It, unable to do anything with It. Simply look at It and grow numb with horror
(Tolstoy 80). Ivan is referring to death as it because he can not fully grasp the idea that death is
really and seriously a lot closer than he expected. Instead of Ivan living each remaining years like
it is his last, he makes himself miserable and depressed by the thought of dying.

Literature Review On Glass Ceiling
Literature Review: A lot of previous studies show that the women are intentionally stopped from
achieving higher level positions in the organizations. This is called glass ceiling. In my study the
Glass Ceiling is my independent variable and I am trying to see its affect on the two dependent
variables of my study which are Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment . There comes a
mediating variable between glass ceilingand job satisfaction which is Job performance . Because
when employees job performance gets affected by the practices of glass ceiling in the organization
badly then ultimately their satisfaction level decreases. Glass ceiling also includes the gender
discrimination but my main focus would be gender... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

developed according to previous studies relating this topic of glass ceiling (Bergman Bodil 2003,
Dimovski Skerlavaj and Man 2010, Smith and Crimes 2007). This study includes Organizational
Practices , Male Culture Family and Social Commitments as the independent variables and their
affect was shown on Women Career Progress which is the primary dependent variable of the study.
The study was conducted on the mid aged Jordanian female managers employed in different
sections of the different organizations. Researchers received 117 useable responses of those
structured questionnaires. This research was an exploratory and analytical study. Reason for calling
it an analytical study is that its interest is finding the factors that influence women career progress.
A simple regression test s results showed that the first, second and third hypotheses were confirmed
as expected earlier but when the researcher applied a multiple regression test the results supported
the fourth hypothesis of the study. The study further shows the strong and significant relation of
male culture and organizational practices with the women career progress. Women family
commitments had the weakest positive relation with the women career progress. In this study
ANOVA results confirmed the impact of glass ceiling barrier on the women

United States, U.s. V. Nixon
Not to be confused with Nixon v. United States, U.S. v. Nixon was a crucial case of the
Supreme Court during a time of political scandal. On the night of June 17th, 1972, five men
broke into the Democratic National Committee in an attempt to gain secrets that would help
Nixon win the re election. The men were found to be connected to Nixon himself. Upon being
caught, all hell broke loose for Nixon s presidency and there was no turning back. Upon further
investigation by Congress, Nixon was committing illegal acts other than that of burglary. It was
discovered that the tapes Nixon used to record his conversations in the Oval Office would be
beneficial in the sense that they contained all the proof needed to impeach the president. The
president argued that this damning information needed not be shared with the community and
was protected by his executive privileges. The entire situation became known as the Watergate
scandal and exploded in popularity with the help of the media. After it was all said and done, the
Supreme Court ruled that Nixon was being unconstitutional. This is undoubtedly true due to the
fact a president is supposed to help a country grow stronger, not tear it apart.
In November of 1968, Richard Nixon, a former vice president, gains the title of president
beating Hubert Humphrey in a strikingly close election. However, his presidency was soon met
with difficulty and scandal. By 1971, the Pentagon Papers had been leaked to the

Detecting Fetal Abnormalities Through Ultrasound
Detecting Fetal Abnormalities Through Ultrasound Birth defects can have life threatening
consequences for the fetus. Many birth defects can be detected during pregnancy by an ultrasound.
Some of these abnormalities include abdominal wall defect, orofacial cleft, anencephaly, and down
syndrome. Although at this time ultrasound is the safest way to observe a fetus, risks are still
associated with it.
Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a test that sends sound waves into the woman s abdomen or vagina in order to
create an image to observe how the fetus is developing within the womb ( Pregnancy Ultrasound,
n.d.). Some of the many names for an ultrasound include pregnancy ultrasound, babi, obstetric

Exomphalos can be linked to genetic abnormalities and it may occur with any age of the mother
( Contact a Family, 2012). Gastroschisis is characterised by a defect in the abdominal wall and
it is positioned to one side of the umbilical cord, typically the right side. In most cases the bowel
will develop out of the abdomen. The bowel will remain out of the abdomen for the remaining
time of the pregnancy. In some cases, the amniotic fluid irritates the bowel and makes it
inflamed and thick, so that it does not work properly. Sometimes the bowel becomes twisted as it
floats in the fluid and the blood supply is restricted. ( Contact a Family, 2012). At birth, the bowel
can become further irritated when it is exposed to the air. Gastroschisis is associated with younger
mothers; if the mother is under 20 years old, the risk of her child having gastroschisis is twelve
times more likely ( Contact a Family, 2012). Gastroschisis is typically not linked with any other
abnormality, which means that is almost always an isolated abnormality ( Contact a Family, 2012).
After birth, both types of abdominal wall defects can be treated. The exposed organs are
typically wrapped in a surgical cling film, which helps prevent infection. A primary repair surgery
can be performed as soon as the baby is stable enough. This surgery is performed if a small portion
of the bowel was exposed. During this surgery, the bowl is simply returned to the abdomen and the

The Witch And Witchcraft
For many centuries, witches have been around. The meaning of the word witch has changed over
time. Before, it was a gender neutral term but it is now associated with women. There are
different types of witches and they each had different powers. The word witch came from the
word Wicca which is an old English word and slowly, it was changed to wicked by the Catholic
Church. For as long as it was around, witches and witchcraftwere looked at negatively and those
who practiced witchcraft were poorly treated. Despite the time difference and geographical areas,
there were similarities in how women, witches, and those who were accused were treated.
Treatment towards witches was influenced by oral stories, experiences, and pop culture.
The word Wicca means wisdom. The witches were turned to when one needed help. Witches of
different types used spells, magic, and potions. Many had feared witches, especially the
Catholic church. Slowly the meaning was changed to wicked. Some types of witches included
witch doctors, Halloween witch, seductress or sire, Wiccan, voodoo witch, satanist, and many
more. A witch doctor and voodoo witch are someone who uses power to heal and protect against
other s magic. A Halloween witch is is a stereotypical witch that is portrayed as the complete
opposite of what a woman should be, and is represented as an ugly, old, evil, hag. A seducing
woman who uses her looks as a mean to lure one in is a seductress or sire. A Wiccan is one who
practices the old religion and believes in the power of the Earth. One who worships the Devil is a
satanist. Harmless or not, witches and those accused of witches were poorly treated. In different
places, treatment was similar. Treatment included beatings, imprisonment, and death. Many were
accused, outed, interrogated, shamed, arrested, tortured, segregated, or killed. Anyone and
everyone could be accused but the major targets were women, widows, the poor, the elderly, those
who used herbal remedies, and those with knowledge in medicine and astrology.
In Africa, specifically Northern Ghana, women were terrorized when accused of witchcraft (
Witches In Exile ). Women who were accused were cast from their family, sent to witch camps, and
were abused or even

How To Visit To Iowa
Iowa is known for its agriculture and flat land. If Anthony Bourdain was to visit Iowa he would
grab a good understanding of what is important to the people in Iowa and how people make a
living. If Anthony came to Iowa we would first go to the Capitol in Des Moines, and another
historical site The Surf Ballroom. Big events in this state include Ragbrai, IowaState Fair, and Tree
Town.
The First stop for Anthony s visit would be the Capitol. The Capitol In Des Moines was
constructed in 1871 and it took 15 years to build. In 1904 there was a fire in the North Wing of
the building that was believed to have been caused by a candle. The gold dome on the top is real
but it is only 1/250,000 of an inch thick and has to be covered with a protective coating to help
protect it. The Capitol contains the Civil War and Pearl Harbor monuments. Lots of people come

Human Factors Affecting Your Largest Operating Expenditure
Introduction Manual order picking is still the most common way to fulfill orders from customers.
This process of order picking is highly labor intensive, repetitive and time consuming, resulting in
one of the largest organizational expenses in a warehouse environment. Traditionally, order picking
systems have been designed to limit travel time, search time, and pick time. The theory is that by
reducing travel, search, and pick time, the process should become more productive, limiting costs,
reducing errors, and being user friendly. So why design a system that is dependent on your largest
operating expenditure without taking into account various human factorswhich can lead to lower
productivity, increased errors, system constraints,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We installed new racking which enabled us to store our inventory higher than before, allowing us
to increase our product offerings. We changed our aisle configuration to decrease travel time. We
implemented a new system to locate our product which reduced search time. We configured our
layout of products so that the best sellers are on the floor which lowers our pick times. We even
implemented a new hand held scanner technology to reduce our pick errors.
With our new order picking system we were trying to increase production. During our planning of
the system, we never took into account how the human factor would affect our productivity. We
designed it to maximize our efficiency, increase pick rates, lower pick errors and be user friendly.
We did not take into account how our employee s learning curve, acceptance, and engagement
would affect the system. We realized that the system was still manual and that human error would
be a factor, but we did not fully consider the human factor in designing the system.
Question
Should human factors, which are traditionally overlooked, be more highly considered when
designing an order picking system to optimize productivity and reduce inefficiencies in a warehouse
setting? This question was reached with the help of the following PICOC:
Population Employees that pick orders
Intervention Impact of human factors on order picking

Two years later, however, President Ronald Regan ordered the solar panels to be removed as one

consumption. Similarly, January 20th, 2017, marked a transition into a new era of U.S. energy
policy. With the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump, came a new energy plan with a heavy
focus on non renewable energythat contrasts the previous administration s ideals. The Trump

Renewable energy s increasingly greater power output has made wind and solar more
competitive with fossil fuels in many regions (Warrick). In fact, renewable energy has improved
so much, both financially and technologically, that many developing economies will ultimately
choose renewables over cheap coal , enabling them to skip over a generation of technology
(Warrick). Hydropower, geothermal energy, solar energy, and wind energy will only keep
improving in power output until they inevitably become the best choice for electricity. Now that
private tech companies have begun to back renewables, their technology is increasing at an
extraordinary pace. With more prominent business leaders supporting renewables, the public is
more inclined to accept them. People like Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla (and many other
companies), fund and promote clean energy projects to raise popular support and develop new
renewable technologies. Some people argue, however that renewable energy will never produce
enough energy to power the entire United States. After all, by 2016, wind energy accounted for
just over 6.7 percent of U.S. electricity production and solar energy sits at just 0.6 percent
(Renewable). While this number seems extremely low, it has been increasing rapidly. In 2012,
solar energy accounted for only 0.2 percent of the electricity

Ancient Egypt and Beauty Accessories
English Project on Ancient Egypt
Layana: Makeup;
Ancient egyptians wore makeup. They regarded beauty as a sign of holiness. Both men and
women in Egypt wore makeup, and even the statues of God wore makeup. Cleanliness and
appearance of people, were highly regarded. Architects would even find tiny clay pallets in some
tombs, and yes beauty was really important to the Ancient Egyptians, but makeup was a different
story. Some of their makeup would be a sign of helping them with the elements, for example:
repelling insects, or when the sun s rays hit their eyes, the makeup would help them not get
affected by the sun. Also, makeup may be served as a routine to honor their god/goddesses. The
Ancient Egyptians also created black eye makeup, and they used it with galena and kohl. What
galena is, is that it is a bluish gray color, with natural minerals, and kohl is a mix between galena
and soot. They also created green eye makeup using malachite. Malachite is a bright green
mineral, which is made by copper hydroxyl carbonate. The Ancient Egyptians had many reasons
to wear makeup. They would wear eye makeup to define the eye, and to give the eye a more cat
like look. It was also a good way to prevent diseases, or any bad minerals to get into your eyes.
Ancient Egyptians also wore lip gloss, or nail polish but wore them only on special occasions. As

Determined journalists, travelers, and people of other professions believe in exploring the natural
world, conducting research, and performing experimental errors. Scientists, especially, will often
embrace their passions with certainty that they will discover something worthwhile, ignoring the
challenges they may come across. In The Great Influenza by John M. Barry, he describes these
scientists with the utmost respect. Barry characterizes scientific research as a devoted activity
where it is crucial to embrace uncertainty in order to yield solutions; this outlook is seen through his
subtle figurative language, specifically, allusions along with the direct characterization of the
qualities that successful scientists must hold, and comparisons.

Introduction
Postpartum Depression
Depression is a major public health problem that is twice as common in women as men during the
childbearing years. Postpartum depression is defined as an episode of non psychotic depression
according to standardized diagnostic criteria with onset within 1 year of childbirth (Stewart D., et.
al, 2003, p. 4). For women aged 15 to 44 years around the world, Postpartum Depression is second
to HIV/AIDS, in terms of total disability (World Health Organization, 2001). Depression has a

42). The stress of caring for a newborn or even the circumstances surrounding labor and delivery
may cause the first symptoms of PPD. Initial stressors related to labor, delivery, and bringing the
baby home give way to new triggers (Dieta et al., 2007, 1516). Infant temperament can intensify
or minimize a new mother s PPD symptoms depending on the child s sleep patterns, frequency
of crying, being easygoing or demanding, and whether or not baby is socially reinforcing with
smiles and coos (Perfetti et al., 2004, p. 57). Increasing guilt, overwhelmed feelings by child
care responsibilities, and fear of being unable to cope can cause the mother to show less
affection to her baby, and be less responsive to his cries (Kabir, 2006, p. 698). The infants in turn

There are many different implications for why infants of mothers with PPD would be at risk for

The American Dream has become a death sentence of drudgery, consumerism, and fatalism: a

It s unequivocally absurd. Zoltan Istvan. In both This Side of Paradise and This Beautiful and

beautiful text and prose of his first and second novels, respectively, Fitzgerald mocks the ghastly

The whole idea of rags to riches embodied the work ethic of the 1920s and previous decades as
the idyllic Golden Age of flappers and mobsters thrived. However, the ideology was flawed in
itself that people were striving for money and not happiness. The average American assumed that
happiness was money and were therefore obsessed with the culture of the attaining money. While
this was also mostly a time of attempted moral reinvigoration in the older generations, baring the
Prohibition and all, many would do whatever they could to get what they wanted, which in most
cases was money to buy nice things. Everyone s goal was to become extravagantly wealthy or to
die trying. The saddest part of it all is many went to the grave unable to fulfill their actually quite
impossible dream.
Fitzgerald presents these stories in the format of citizens who are already wealthy and actually
living the American Dream so as to make it more glamorous than having seen the grueling work
done by some close relative. This almost further empowers the culture of materialism as it sets the
scene, only to deplore it as the books go on. These people start out pampered and are presumed to
become even more wealthy and powerful but spiral downward as they fail to find happiness in their
lavish lifestyles.
In This Side of Paradise, this is exactly the case. In one aspect, Amory Blaine is already

Li Ka-Shing Essay
We will talk about the iconic figure Li Ka shing, a famous investor from Hong Kong. There are
specific analysis two classic cases of Li Ka shing. In 1970, after two oil shocks, the global oil
prices and oil stocks were in the doldrums, but Li Ka shing was optimistic about the oil industry
at that time and made the biggest overseas investment. Then, Husky Energy had more than 5,000
ports and oil concessions gas production wells, of which about 40% were owned by the mining
company that also held a 26.67% stake in heavy oil refineries and 343 petrol stations. The
downturn in oil prices caused cash flow difficulties. After the acquisition of Husky Energy
Company, he made a series of rapid expansion, took advantage of low prices to buy and drill
more oil in order to reduce debt. In June 1988, he spent 375 million Canadian dollars in fully
acquiring another Canadian oil company Cantera Energy and thus Husky Energy doubled its asset

The Theory That Best Explains Jimmy s Life On A Micro Level
Micro Level The theory that best explains Jimmy s life on a micro level, is Resiliency theory.
Resilience is described as the capacity of a dynamic system to adapt successfully to disturbances
that threaten the viability, the function, or the development of that system (Southwick, Bonanno,
Masten, Panter Brick Yehuda, 2014, p.4). This means that resilience can be shown by the person s
capacity to adjust himself to new and difficult situations. In Jimmy s case, during his life, he had to
adapt himself to different environmental conditions.
Jimmy was raised in Japan, but he came back to the United States. That means he had to experience
a new culture and traditions. Jimmy lost his family at some point in his life, therefore, he had

camps and experience difficult living conditions. After, he went through that, he lived as a
homeless man. It is notable that Jimmy had to live in difficult environments and he had to adjust
himself to every single one of those scenarios in order to survive. He had to learn how to live in
each different environment and confront each obstacle in his life. In addition, Jimmy showed
resilience by being independent, even though he was homeless, he used his art as a way to survive
and was able to live as an independent person. He used his strengths to handle his personal
situations and remain strong. For example,

Dream Catcher Research Paper
Dream Catcher
Background
Dreams are series of thought, stories, ideas, emotions that happen unintentionally in the mind
during certain stages of sleep. Human sleep occurs in several cycles during the night, each
cycles consisting of five stages. Light sleep to very deep sleep are ranging during the first four
stages, EEG machine shows that the brain activities are decreasing by demonstrating the
electrical wave rhythms from first to fourth stage. The four stages can categorized as non REM
sleep (or slow wave sleep). However, during the fifth stage, there are increased activity of the
brain which is associated with rapid eye movement (REM). Due to the increased activity of the
brain, most of the dreams happen during REM sleep. People dreams all night long. According to
scientific American, each person dreams three to five times per night, some may up to seven ...

The Role Of Critical Thickness Subordinate Impacts Acting...
What is intriguing is the nearness of critical thickness subordinate impacts acting in a deferred way
on the diverse conceptive parameters broke down. The part of conceptive females, the proliferation
file, and the regenerative rate were to a great extent dictated by the populace thickness the prior
year. The generation record and the regenerative rates were not affected by the precipitation design.
The multiplication list speaks to the extent of regenerative females and adolescents in the populace.
Therefore, one conceivable reason for the non huge relationship amongst precipitation and
multiplication record might be the expansion of grown up movement after stormy winters (Lima
and Jaksic unpublished work). Then again, the regenerative rate is a gauge of the quantity of
adolescents delivered by a female amid the reproducing season, and includes the litter size, litter
number and the survival rates of the posterity. Consequently, our outcomes propose that
precipitation does not impact these parameters. This is a fascinating result, in light of the fact that
an expansion in the quantity of litters created by females after abnormally stormy winters has been
hypothesized as one of the instruments activating populace episodes of this species. A few studies
have discovered abundant proof of social cooperation s in microtine rodents, including spatial
conduct, territoriality and forceful experiences. In general, these components appear to create quick

Saturn Devouring His Son Research Paper
The Myth of Saturn Devouring His Son
The myth of Saturn devouring his son is a dark, morbid, and ghoulish story. The Greek Titan,
Saturn overthrew is father and married the goddess of fertility. Saturn then learned of a prophecy
that one of his sons would overthrow him like he did his father. He then became obsessed with
thwarting the prophecy. At the birth of each child, Saturn would devour the infant. Saturn s wife
hid their last child, Zeus, whom fully grown, fulfilled the prophecy and became ruler of the
Olympians. There are rumors that Saturn would get sexual pleasure out of consuming his children
but that has never been confirmed. Many artists over the years have painted this myth, putting their
own creative twist on it. Two very well known artists who drew inspiration from the myth are
Francisco Goya with his work Saturn Devouring His Son (1819 1823) and Peter Paul Rubens Title

To render justice case by case is the primary task of our courts. Other courts and branches of
government also, the social and economic fabrics of our lives are impacted by court decisions.
The justice that is done in individual cases helps and aids to bring order to the society in which

The animal populations are main source of nutrition for the human communities living in the
region, but harvesting has been regulated and managed to prevent depletion of the natural stores of
fish, crustaceans, and mammals in the Arctic waters (Arctic Biodiversity Assessment). Because the
health of the Arctic had an impact on all of Earth, it is important that we work towards preventing,
or at least delaying the effects of climate change on the region. Many corporations, governments,
and international organizations have already worked to reverse the issue that the Arctic faces with
concern to its biodiversity. For example, in the past year, the Coca Cola Journey foundation has
raised over Two million dollars with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to help manage the Arctic ice

reverse the path of extinction that polar bears are currently on, citing the U.S. Geographical Survey

The school boy unwillingly attends school and lack discipline. As he grow, he grows into a more

Universal Truth In Times Of Hardship

these things. This quote personally resonated with me when I reflect on the situations that I

Although, it is debated often if sports are good or bad for kids, they unfortunately are bad. This is
because of the overwhelming injuries, pressure and academics, and poor effort in school, although
some will say it brings them closer to school. The first reason sports are bad is injuries. When you
play sports, you have a very big possibility of getting hurt. Primary Investigator, R. Dawn Comstock

Comparing Hegel s And Kierkegaard
Hegel s and Kierkegaard s philosophies can be attributed to the Romantic influences of the late
eighteenth century. Each were also opposed to their predecessor; aspects of Romanticism were
criticized by Hegel, while Kierkegaard had a negative disposition to Hegel s ideas as he deemed
them inapplicable to one s personal life. In Sophie s World, Hegel s world spirit is described as
the sum of human utterances. In the same context, Kierkegaard s existentialism is described as
the only important thing [is] each man s own existence. It is also worth noting, though
Kierkegaard rebuked Hegelianism, the man himself was dead a decade before Kierkegaard was
thirty years old, so it could not be said the two men were direct contemporaries. Thusly it is seen
that Kierkegaard seemed to almost be fixated on discrediting Hegel and the Romantics.
Comparisons of such dialectically opposed philosophies are difficult to explore, since one is so
critical of the other. However, as mentioned above, both must be credited to the influences of
Romanticism. Hegel redefined their world spirit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Somewhat unsurprisingly, the meaning of subjectivity of truth was another point of contention.
Hegel derived his opinion from history, noting that each successive generation changed where their
knowledge came from thus making it s origin fluid and unabsolute. Kierkegaard derived his opinion
from within, another point of existentialism, and thought that truth was something an individual
must discuss from within and be wholly passionate with the decision. Nevertheless, both resulted in
the conclusion that truth is not absolute, but Hegel regarded the Truths of humanity with
prominence, while Kierkegaard conversely regarded the truths of an individual as much more

Electronic Medical Record ( Emr ) System
For as long as any of us can really remember, paper based medical records have been the way to
go. Sadly if changes had to be made to the files then the files would need to be physically taken out
of storage and then returned after. More times than not patients will have more than one health care
provider and in this case, the patient files are not necessarily being successfully shared among them
due to the fact that the files are tangible. Fortunately the implementation of Electronic Medical
Record(EMR) system is the answer to increasing efficiency and reducing the need for storage.
The EMR allows the medical records to be retrieved and accessed by any of the health care
professionals that need the information to help a patient. Implementing an EMR would have
improved diagnosis and treatments, significantly reduce errors found within personal health
records, and improve the speed of care and decision making responses from assigned medical
professionals. As with everything there are always cons as well as the pros. The unfortunate cons
of an EMR are the technological side. It may be difficult to teach all of the people who will be
using it how to use the EMR and more importantly getting a majority of people on board with it.
After weighing out the pros and cons, there are series of steps that are conducted through stages
otherwise known as phases. EMR implementation require making sure that the organization is
ready for the commitment, making an outline, creating a system

Gasoline, Natural Gas, Kerosene as well as other components present in crude oil leads to some
forms of environmental pollution. This has led to devastating climatic changes around the world
which has in turn led to loss of lives and property. In the course of transporting crude oil to

Oil companies operate in defined regions where oil exploration and possible drilling is done.
However some companies such as Shell BP engage in international drilling and distribution of oil
products. Below are some of the most renowned oil companies in their constituent continents:
Africa: Sasol of South of South Africa and National Petroleum Company of Congo. In Asia some
of the leading oil companies include Nobel Group and the Bahrain Oil Company. It is important
to note that Asia has a lot of oil resources and hence have extensive oil drilling activities. In
Europe we have Partex oil and Gas Company, in South America three is Bridas Corporation
based in Argentina. North America has one of the most advanced technology in the oil industry.
These companies have extended their activities around the globe in a bid to discover more oil
resources to sustain future energy requirements. Some North America companies include Shell
Oil Company and the Apache Corporation. This paper will focus on the importance of oil
companies over and above the problems that they pose to the environment as well as the political
stability of the world. For practical examples I chose to use the state of Alaska where oil

demonstrated the owner s wealth and prestige, on one hand, but on another level, their intention
was to genuinely arouse curiosity and wonder. Then along came the Enlightenment and the French
and American Revolutions. A new museum order responded to, and even served to make manifest,
a new world order. Museums including Louvre, the British Museum and Peale s Museum, began to

Refrigeration Systems That Use Environment Friendly...
Refrigeration systems that use environment friendly refrigerants provide a sustainability advantage
when compared to other refrigerant selections. However, the energy use associated with
refrigeration system operation and the environmental impacts associated with its generation and
distribution often outweigh the choice of refrigerant. To minimize environmental impacts
associated with refrigeration system operation, it is reasonable to evaluate the prospects of a
clean source of energy. Research has demonstrated that solar energy is an ideal source for low
temperature heating applications such as space and domestic hot water heating. From a
sustainability perspective, directly using solar as a primary energy source is attractive because of
its universal availability, low environmental impact, and low or no ongoing fuel cost. Research has
demonstrated that solar energy is an ideal source for lowtemperature heating applications such as
space and domestic hot water heating. Solar heating applications are intuitive since, when solar
energy is absorbed on a surface, the surface temperature rises, providing a heating potential. The
use of solar energy to provide refrigeration is less intuitive. In this article, we review three
approaches that use solar energy to provide refrigeration at temperatures below 0В°C (32В°F). In
addition to reviewing the potential technologies, we compare their operating characteristics. We
conclude that only one of the three

Introduction Violence is one of humanity s oldest problems, but the neural pathways that underlie
violence are not well understood. Aggression stems from evolutionary roots, ranging from
simplistic behaviors such as defending offspring to potentially more complicated human mental
disorders. The study of aggression should improve not only our understanding of the properly
functioning mind, but also characterize poorly understood mental disorders.1
Laboratory experiments have been run on mice to identify cells that mediate aggression, but these
areas were difficult to find due to their small size.1 After discovering these areas, researchers are
beginning to study the underlying genetic pathway of aggression. Increasingly genetic approaches

The United States (and Canada) recently began this whole Clean Coal Technology Program

2013) Since many of the pollutants that formed acid rain were coming from big coal burning
power plants in the United States, the U.S. Government took the lead in finding a solution. (Fossil
Energy Office of Communications, 2013) One of the actions by the United States Department of

Mary Wollstonecraft Her Legacy Essay examples
Mary Wollstonecraft Her Legacy
Following the Enlightenment, Mary Wollstonecraft wrote the feminist novel The Vindication of
the Rights of Woman. In this novel she applied rights to females that had formerly been reserved

Wollstonecraft called for the advancement of women s rights in areas such as education, work,

she feels that if women advance in society, following their wishes and desires, society as a whole
will become better. She explains the inequality and unrest within her contemporary society. Despite
advancements for both genders, women remain behind due to

  • 3. The Sun And Moon Are Not Present Until The Fourth Day Given that the Sun and Moon are not present until the fourth day, how can it be maintained that the first three days are days in the sense that we now understand them? Our current day is delineated via the earth s rotation in relation to the Sun no Sun, no 24 hour days. Even the passage itself says this, for it says in Gen. 1:14: Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be . . . for days . It may be objected that, regardless of whether or not we had a distant object in relation to which we might measure the progression of the earths rotation, it nonetheless remained similar to what it is now. But this is by no means clear, for the text itself maintains that the earth was radically and fundamentally different at that time, being without form and void (v. 2). As such, any claim that the earth s rotation then was similar to what it is now is based on an assumption: namely, that in spite of the fact that the earth itself was physically different, natural processes such as its rotation were the same then as now. This is a rather curious claim to make, for it is one of the primary charges leveled against those who adhere to other interpretations of the days (and correspondingly, the age of the earth) by those with whom we are disputing. Proponents of the calendar day interpretation frequently charge those with whom they disagree, whether secular scientists or other believers, of assuming that natural processes in ... • 4. Examples Of Sexism In Television Shows Nowadays, many of the television programs that many of us watch are usually sexist within their dialogue. However, many of us are unaware of this because our attention is being entertained by the show itself; so, we do not take the time to analyze and notice what we are truly watching. Many of us are being sidetracked by the different situations/entertainment found in the show. For instance, some examples used to cover up sexism in a television show are: comedy/humor, drama, sexuality, and violence; however, television shows are not the only ones that use this, movies and advertisements do too. The different examples, pull one s attention into the situation, rather than the dialogue occurring between characters and how they speak to one another. However, there are ways to unravel the sex linked differences between characters in television programs; we can analyze the different forms in which different sex, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and educational level individuals speak to one another. The intent of analyzing a television show is to demonstrate the sex linked differences between a familyand their genderroles and humor and drama are used to hide sexism. Furthermore, the sitcom The Middle will be used in order to prove and evaluate the sexism that still occurs in many television programs. The television program: The Middle, is a sitcom based on a family (the Hecks) of five, whom are: mother (Frankie, 52), father (Mike, 54), son (Axl, 23), daughter (Sue, 21), ... The Death Of Ivan And By Leo Tolstoy In The Death of Ivan Ilych , Leo Tolstoy purposely focuses on Gerasim, the assistants Butler, to establish a transformation in Ivan Ilych that makes him realize the true meaning of life. Gerasim is used as an important tool through the events that lead up until Ivan s death. Through Gerasim, the author conveys the themes of death, family, and propriety by emphasizing the impact that he brings upon Ivan s life. Gerasim acts as a guide in the shift of Ivan s perception by helping Ivan change his views and perspective towards death which no other person could have done if Gerasim was removed from the novelette. Ivan Ilych does not live his last years before death to his fullest potential and it is as if he is not living at all. Ivan can not bring himself to accept death because he believes he does not deserve to die and questions why this is happening to him. Ivan is not ready to face death so soon since his life is going as planned. Ivan is lying to himself about him dying and tries to avoid the word death by saying it, He went to his study, lay down, and once again was left alone with it. Face to face with It, unable to do anything with It. Simply look at It and grow numb with horror (Tolstoy 80). This study includes Organizational Practices , Male Culture Family and Social Commitments as the independent variables and their affect was shown on Women Career Progress which is the primary dependent variable of the study. The study was conducted on the mid aged Jordanian female managers employed in different sections of the different organizations. Researchers received 117 useable responses of those structured questionnaires. This research was an exploratory and analytical study. Reason for calling it an analytical study is that its interest is finding the factors that influence women career progress. A simple regression test s results showed that the first, second and third hypotheses were confirmed as expected earlier but when the researcher applied a multiple regression test the results supported the fourth hypothesis of the study. The study further shows the strong and significant relation of male culture and organizational practices with the women career progress. • 7. United States, U.s. V. Nixon Not to be confused with Nixon v. United States, U.S. v. Nixon was a crucial case of the Supreme Court during a time of political scandal. On the night of June 17th, 1972, five men broke into the Democratic National Committee in an attempt to gain secrets that would help Nixon win the re election. The men were found to be connected to Nixon himself. Upon being caught, all hell broke loose for Nixon s presidency and there was no turning back. Upon further investigation by Congress, Nixon was committing illegal acts other than that of burglary. It was discovered that the tapes Nixon used to record his conversations in the Oval Office would be beneficial in the sense that they contained all the proof needed to impeach the president. The president argued that this damning information needed not be shared with the community and was protected by his executive privileges. The entire situation became known as the Watergate scandal and exploded in popularity with the help of the media. After it was all said and done, the Supreme Court ruled that Nixon was being unconstitutional. This is undoubtedly true due to the fact a president is supposed to help a country grow stronger, not tear it apart. Before, it was a gender neutral term but it is now associated with women. There are different types of witches and they each had different powers. The word witch came from the word Wicca which is an old English word and slowly, it was changed to wicked by the Catholic Church. For as long as it was around, witches and witchcraftwere looked at negatively and those who practiced witchcraft were poorly treated. Despite the time difference and geographical areas, there were similarities in how women, witches, and those who were accused were treated. Treatment towards witches was influenced by oral stories, experiences, and pop culture. The word Wicca means wisdom. The witches were turned to when one needed help. Witches of different types used spells, magic, and potions. Many had feared witches, especially the Catholic church. Slowly the meaning was changed to wicked. Some types of witches included witch doctors, Halloween witch, seductress or sire, Wiccan, voodoo witch, satanist, and many more. A witch doctor and voodoo witch are someone who uses power to heal and protect against other s magic. A Halloween witch is is a stereotypical witch that is portrayed as the complete opposite of what a woman should be, and is represented as an ugly, old, evil, hag. A seducing woman who uses her looks as a mean to lure one in is a seductress or sire. A Wiccan is one who practices the old religion and believes in the power of the Earth. One who worships the Devil is a satanist. Harmless or not, witches and those accused of witches were poorly treated. In different places, treatment was similar. Treatment included beatings, imprisonment, and death. Many were accused, outed, interrogated, shamed, arrested, tortured, segregated, or killed. Anyone and everyone could be accused but the major targets were women, widows, the poor, the elderly, those who used herbal remedies, and those with knowledge in medicine and astrology. This process of order picking is highly labor intensive, repetitive and time consuming, resulting in one of the largest organizational expenses in a warehouse environment. Traditionally, order picking systems have been designed to limit travel time, search time, and pick time. The theory is that by reducing travel, search, and pick time, the process should become more productive, limiting costs, reducing errors, and being user friendly. The stress of caring for a newborn or even the circumstances surrounding labor and delivery may cause the first symptoms of PPD. Initial stressors related to labor, delivery, and bringing the baby home give way to new triggers (Dieta et al., 2007, 1516). Infant temperament can intensify or minimize a new mother s PPD symptoms depending on the child s sleep patterns, frequency of crying, being easygoing or demanding, and whether or not baby is socially reinforcing with smiles and coos (Perfetti et al., 2004, p. 57). Increasing guilt, overwhelmed feelings by child care responsibilities, and fear of being unable to cope can cause the mother to show less affection to her baby, and be less responsive to his cries (Kabir, 2006, p. 698). The infants in turn tend to be fussier and distant making less positive facial expressions and vocalizations (Beck C., 2006, p. 42). Hostile effects on the child continue throughout the first year after birth, but PPD places children of all ages at risk for impaired cognitive and emotional development as well as psychopathology (Beck C., 2006, p. 42). There are many different implications for why infants of mothers with PPD would be at risk for developing the inability for emotional regulation and healthy attachment relationships. In Jimmy s case, during his life, he had to adapt himself to different environmental conditions. Jimmy was raised in Japan, but he came back to the United States. That means he had to experience a new culture and traditions. The part of conceptive females, the proliferation file, and the regenerative rate were to a great extent dictated by the populace thickness the prior year. The generation record and the regenerative rates were not affected by the precipitation design. The multiplication list speaks to the extent of regenerative females and adolescents in the populace. Therefore, one conceivable reason for the non huge relationship amongst precipitation and multiplication record might be the expansion of grown up movement after stormy winters (Lima and Jaksic unpublished work). Then again, the regenerative rate is a gauge of the quantity of adolescents delivered by a female amid the reproducing season, and includes the litter size, litter number and the survival rates of the posterity. Consequently, our outcomes propose that precipitation does not impact these parameters. This is a fascinating result, in light of the fact that an expansion in the quantity of litters created by females after abnormally stormy winters has been hypothesized as one of the instruments activating populace episodes of this species. A few studies have discovered abundant proof of social cooperation s in microtine rodents, including spatial conduct, territoriality and forceful experiences. The Greek Titan, Saturn overthrew is father and married the goddess of fertility. Saturn then learned of a prophecy that one of his sons would overthrow him like he did his father. He then became obsessed with thwarting the prophecy. At the birth of each child, Saturn would devour the infant. There are rumors that Saturn would get sexual pleasure out of consuming his children but that has never been confirmed. Each were also opposed to their predecessor; aspects of Romanticism were criticized by Hegel, while Kierkegaard had a negative disposition to Hegel s ideas as he deemed them inapplicable to one s personal life. In Sophie s World, Hegel s world spirit is described as the sum of human utterances. In the same context, Kierkegaard s existentialism is described as the only important thing [is] each man s own existence. It is also worth noting, though Kierkegaard rebuked Hegelianism, the man himself was dead a decade before Kierkegaard was thirty years old, so it could not be said the two men were direct contemporaries. Thusly it is seen that Kierkegaard seemed to almost be fixated on discrediting Hegel and the Romantics. Sadly if changes had to be made to the files then the files would need to be physically taken out of storage and then returned after. More times than not patients will have more than one health care provider and in this case, the patient files are not necessarily being successfully shared among them due to the fact that the files are tangible. Fortunately the implementation of Electronic Medical Record(EMR) system is the answer to increasing efficiency and reducing the need for storage. The EMR allows the medical records to be retrieved and accessed by any of the health care professionals that need the information to help a patient. Implementing an EMR would have improved diagnosis and treatments, significantly reduce errors found within personal health records, and improve the speed of care and decision making responses from assigned medical professionals. As with everything there are always cons as well as the pros. The unfortunate cons of an EMR are the technological side. It may be difficult to teach all of the people who will be using it how to use the EMR and more importantly getting a majority of people on board with it. Refrigeration systems that use environment friendly refrigerants provide a sustainability advantage when compared to other refrigerant selections. However, the energy use associated with refrigeration system operation and the environmental impacts associated with its generation and distribution often outweigh the choice of refrigerant. To minimize environmental impacts associated with refrigeration system operation, it is reasonable to evaluate the prospects of a clean source of energy. Research has demonstrated that solar energy is an ideal source for low temperature heating applications such as space and domestic hot water heating. From a sustainability perspective, directly using solar as a primary energy source is attractive because of its universal availability, low environmental impact, and low or no ongoing fuel cost. Research has demonstrated that solar energy is an ideal source for lowtemperature heating applications such as space and domestic hot water heating. Solar heating applications are intuitive since, when solar energy is absorbed on a surface, the surface temperature rises, providing a heating potential. The use of solar energy to provide refrigeration is less intuitive. In this article, we review three approaches that use solar energy to provide refrigeration at temperatures below 0В°C (32В°F).
