The Sniper In Three Day Road
There are many ways of thinking of military snipers. They can be compared to predators in the
wild, a skillful killing machine that kills out of necessity and has the respect of their companions.
Snipers can also be thought of as prey. They are given a challenging task that requires skill to
elude the enemy and often preys upon their mental toughness. In Boyden s book Three Day Road
the author uses many passages to compare the role of a sniperto the role of both predator and prey
in the wilderness. These comparisons help the reader relate to the experiences of two indigenous
boyhood friends, Elijah and Xavier as snipers in World War 1. Instead of shooting caribou back
home in Canada as boys, they are now shooting German soldiers in the trenches... Show more

He is not so emotionally capable of taking a human life. He uses his experiences as a hunter to
cope with taking his first life as a sniper. He tells Elijah its easier for me to picture soldiers with
antlers on their heads (115). He uses his experiences killing caribou to cope with the stress of
killing enemy soldiers. As a sniper you must be focused on your target and the task at hand.
There is no time for second thoughts or to let your mind wonder. Xavier is not as focused as
Elijah. When Elijah fires a shot across to the Hun sniper, Xavier jumped the concussion makes
me jump a little, even though I am ready for it (118). This shows Xavier is more mentally on
edge. It shows his lack of confidence in his skills. This is reflected in his thoughts after they both
fire at the German sniper at the end of the chapter. Elijah s shot, and Xavier s bullet trailing a
ways behind, the Hun sniper never fired back. Xavier knew Elijah killed him. I can tell he is still
worried about himself being and accepting his role as a sniper. I wonder about myself, though (118).
As a sniper, you can either feel you are the predator or the prey. One mistake and you can give
away your position and you would not make it home. In the book Three Day Road by Joseph
Boyden, Xavier and Elijah find themselves as snipers in WW1. Xavier struggles emotionally with
his role as a killer. This stress preys on his emotions and makes

Shakespeare Sonnet 29 Mood
Shakespeare s Sonnet 29 explores the inner mentality of the speaker as he reflects on his hopeless
state of depression to eventually realize that there is something more important than monetary
wealth and social status. The speaker is introspective and reflective in order to convey his epiphany
of the importance of intangible things. Throughout the sonnet, meaning is achieved through the use
of rhythmic structure, changing tone, and imagery. In the first quatrain, iambic pentametercreates an
introductory rhythm to present the speaker in a depressed state. The speaker begins by stating he
is in disgrace with Fortune, meaning he is having bad luck and believes he is unpopular to men s
eyes. This allusion to Dame Fortuna, the goddess of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker uses the word yet to begin this shift into the solution to his internal frustrations. When
the speaker begins to haply think of thee, it serves as a pun for the word happy. Although this new
thought occurs by chance, it is a happy alternative for the saddening thoughts that once occupied
his mind. Shakespeare also uses a simile of a lark arising from sullen earth at the break of day,
implying that the daytime is much happier than night. The day is compared to the dawning thought
of his beloved, and the very idea is like a lark who sings hymns at heaven s gate. The simile uses
imagery to create an uplifting, hopeful tone. The shift in the speaker s thoughts is reflected in the
tone, as it changes from melancholy to optimistic. Similarly, the heroic couplet at the end serves as
a resolution to the speaker s inner conflictions with depression, for he has an epiphany that he
would rather be with thee than to change [his] state with kings. The speaker s remembrance of thy
sweet love brings him to this conclusion. The enjambment of the last two lines creates flow with the
speaker s clear thoughts, allowing him to determine the most important thing in life, rather than
monetary wealth or status, with an optimistic

Raccoon Research Paper
Mammals strive in just about every climate and environment here on Earth, from the Arctic to the
scolding Savannah desert. Throughout this video, The Opportunists, there were many mammals
portrayed who know how to take advantage of any situation, thriving in this human dominated
landscape. One in such was that of the witty, black masked raccoon. Habitat loss and human
interference has had grave effects on many different speciesof animals throughout the world,
although that can not be said for the raccoon. Raccoon population numbers have risen alongside
humans making them one of the most widespread mammals on the continent. They have an
extraordinary sense of touch that aids them in locating food. Due to the sensitive vibrissae on the

Magical Realism
Two of the most widely recognized major contributors to Latin American Literature are Gabriel
GarcГa MГЎrquez s One Hundred Years of Solitude and Isabel Allende s Eva Luna. Both are
written in the genre of magical realism, a literary form that describes fantasy and imaginary events
in such a way that it becomes believable and real to the reader. Specifically, these books describe
the geopolitical turmoil of Latin Americaduring the early twentieth century and the mid twentieth
century; respectively, dealing with war, suffering and death. Although the authors are of different
genders, both of these books are written from a feminist perspective and merge fantasy with reality
by introducing the reader to myths, prophecies, and legends that... Show more content on

50). On the other hand, there were events that were truly magical, such as Father Nicanor Reyna s
levitation powers and flying carpets. As previously stated, these incidents make it difficult for the
reader to distinguish the boundary between reality and fiction.
Like One Hundred Years of Solitude, Eva Luna uses magical realism in an oppressed Latin
American environment as a means of social change. The book starts out as a myth beginning
with its title and character name. Eva s name is symbolic itself. Eva, which means life and Luna,
which is Spanish for moon is a symbol of the matriarchal power that women possess. The
opening of the book places us in a world of magic to displace us from reality. The mission was a
small oasis in the heart of an expanse of voluptuous vegetation writhing and twisting from the
banks of the river to the feet of the monumental geologic towers that rose toward the firmament
like one of God s mistakes (Allende p. 2). In addition to Eva s name being symbolic, her
conception was brought about by magical realism. Eva was conceived as her Indian father lay
dying from a venomous snake bite. Consuelo, Eva s mother, became aware that notwithstanding
pain, fear of death, and shortness of breath, the gardener responded with ardent enthusiasm when
she rubbed his body...that unexpected erection so moved her mature virgin s heart.... (Allende p.

The Life of Franklin D. Roosevelt
A mention of the name, Roosevelt D. Franklin to most Americans, rekindles the memories of the
Second World War, the Manhattan projects and the subsequent bombing of two Japanese cities.
What most of these people fail to understand is that Roosevelt s presidency was the Second World
War. Turth be told, Roosevelt is one the greatest presidents the United States
ever had based on his
personality and the challenges he faced while in the White House. This paper discusses a number of
aspects about one of the United States celebrated presidents, Foosevelt D. Franklin, including his
life history, challenges he faced, his achievements, as well as, some unique things about him and his
presidency.

Other important legislations enacted by Roosevelt include the Social Security Act, Tax bill, and the
National Labor Act. Most of these legislations were geared towards regulating how the banking
system worked and ensuring trust in the country s financial system. Others were geared towards
giving poor Americans some for of economic relief during their most challenging times (Gunderson
2010).
The second challenge Roosevelt faced was the Second World War that had destroyed most of
Europe. Roosevelt did everything possible to keep the United States of America out of this war
through provided forms of support to countries like Britain and France during this war.
Nonetheless, when Japanses attacked the Unites States itself, Roosevelt was forced to send
American forces to take part in the war. The attach on American soldiers and vessels changes
Roosevelt s calculation. The entry of the United States into the Second World War changed the
face of the whole conflict. It was Roosevelt who commissioned and oversaw the Manhattan
Project that led to the construction of the first atomic bomb. The Manhattan Project is one of the
largest projects ever understaken in the history of the world. Roosevelt wanted the atomic bomb
as one of the way of bringing the war to a quick end, as well as, one way to increase the United Stat

Bus Descriptive Essay
Bus rides are always the worst. You have your loud crowd, then our annoying people, the quiet
ones, and the people that don t want anything except to hurry home, so they sit in the front of the
bus. But for me? I m in the far back, the Cool Kid seat. The seat where when you were younger
you d race to claim. He sat three seats away from me on the opposite side of the bus. He was
new. Everyone in Cascade Locks knows everyone. I was surprised that I didn t know him yet.
Little did I know back then, that he would make an impact on my life. It was around the end of
September that I noticed he rode my bus. He talked to Blake a lot, who I am now friends with.
They were clearly becoming best friends. Blake and I, we didn t talk much last year. He was
more of an acquaintance until this year. Autumn who is one of my good friends and is a
sophomore rides the bus with me. We live about 5 minutes apart, in walking distance. While we
were sitting on the uncomfortable Grey seats that the bus provided, talking about this guy she
liked. I glanced up at his direction to catch him with his chocolaty brown eyes gazed at mine. I
was flustered. I quickly and nervously looked down at my hands, that laid in lap. I felt the heat of
embarrassment raised up to my cheeks. I wasn t embarrassed, though. I was more flustered with the
thought of this cute, new guy on my bus that was looking at me. I looked up again, slowly, but not
in his direction, but toward my friend Autumn s. Who is that? I asked

Food Action Plan
Summary and Action Plan
1.Introduction
I am a full time college student. I take four classes every fall/spring and two classes every winter
/summer. Food is available to me every day; however, I do not have time to consume three full
meals a day because of the busy schedule I have. Sometimes I do not have the option of
choosing what food I want to eat or when to eat. I often buy food on campus because I do not
like the options they have. I spend 15$ a day buying water, snacks and meals at college. When I
have the option of eating out it costs me 15 35$ on meals. Most of the time I take various snacks
and meals with me to college. My main meal, which I eat every day at home, I eat what my mother
cooks because she s in charge of cooking in our household. I m restricted in my selections of food
because I do not have time to go grocery shopping, cooking or driving to eat out. I tend to skip
breakfast most of the time because I am always in a hurry to leave, so I don t miss classes.

Being Bullied And Having No Recollection Essay
The Third Grade: Being bullied and having no recollection Introduction There comes a point in
life when most young students are bullied. Some students experience worse bullying than others
and suffer more greatly from it. According to US studies, One out of every four students (22%)
report being bullied during the school year. (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2015) 64
percent of children who were bullied did not report it; only 36 percent reported the bullying.
(Pacer s, 2016) Most children do not report it, leading to their self esteem dropping to an all time
low. Whether the child turns to God or has a friend as their saving grace, it is important that they
get through those troubles. My Experience The time in my life when I was bullied was a very
rough patch and unfortunately a time that I have no memory of. My brain has seemed to block
out these events from my mind as I have no recollection of the third grade. I was bullied at a
very young age due to my shyness. The second reason I was bullied was due to the fact I was
one of the youngest students in the class and also extremely tiny for my age. I fit in better
playing with the boys because they were more friendly and just as smart as me, and I was much
more girly than the other 8 girls in my class. By the time I was in first grade my only two friends
had moved to other schools. Because of this I was left very secluded. One of the first examples the
bullying that happened was because of my size many of the

Technology And The Interrupted Brain Seeks Out A Professional
Pat Galagan, author of Technology and The Interrupted Brain seeks out a professional to explain
this. Dan Willingham, professor of Psychology at the University of Virginia states, Data from the
last thirty years leads to a conclusion that is not scientifically challengeable: thinking well requires
knowing facts, and that s true not only because you need something to think about. The very
processes that teachers care about most critical thinking processes such as reasoning and problem
solving are intimately intertwined with factual knowledge that is stored in long term memory (not
just found in the environment) (Galagan). This generation of adolescents is so used to looking up
everything in the internetthat their brains don t go the extra mile to think and develop. Therefore,
they don t possess the amount of factual knowledge needed to mold higher level thinking and
analysis.
Take a look at this study done by researchers at the University of Connecticut in 2005. A group of
seventh graders were asked to read information on a website on the Pacific Northwest Tree
Octopus and evaluate the site s credibility and trustworthiness. All but one student deemed the site
to be credible due to extensive cited sources, pictures, and a wide array of scientific words. The
truth? The site was a hoax designed just for this experiment (Galagan). One might ask, why weren t
most of the students able to recognize this? That s because these students didn t have a basic
knowledge and

Hello!
I am ready. My friends and family are ready. America is ready for someone who is different and
ready to lead. I believe Hillary Clinton is that person.
At the age of 24, I know I am young, but I ve seen the United States go through several big
transformations: the second worst recession, skyrocketing college tuition, the death of Osama Bin
Laden, the rise of ISIS and the legalization of same sex marriage. I love this country and what it
stands for, but I believe there is room for improvement. I believe in Hillary Clinton s Four Fights to
redirect and revitalize the United States. Hillary Clinton has the skills and expertise needed to keep

ambition on climbing the mountain he was willing to risk his life, he was ambitious but
unsuccessful. Another quote that goes with the article and theme is, From the time we arrived at

Why Is Shakespeare Still Relevant Today
William Shakespeare is one of the most famous authors in history. After celebrating the 400th
anniversary of his death just last year, many people came to realize just how influential and
important his works are to people. Even after all these years, Shakespeare s work is still so
present and relevant today. What if Shakespeare didn t write any of the plays he has his name on,
however? What if William Shakespearewas never who we thought? That is what some people
believe. Shakespeare did not write any of the plays, and they were all written by the 17th Earl of
Oxford, Edward De Vere. Although some people think that Edward de Vere wrote the plays,
William Shakespeare did write all the plays under his name.
This crazy conspiracy of the plays of William Shakespeare being written by the 17th Earl of
Oxford was started by one man, Thomas Looney. Published in 1920, Looney s book Shakespeare
Identified tells all about how Shakespeare could not possibly have written the plays due to his lack
of education and instead, the Earl of Oxford wrote them. This Oxfordian Theory has been the ...

A Midsummer Night s Dream was written between 1595 and 1596, when Shakespeare would
have been 31 or 32 years old. Oxford was still a child at this time, only nine years old. The only
explanation for that would be that Oxford was indeed a child prodigy, like the movie Anonymous
claims. Many of the plays were also written after the death of Oxford. The movie once again backs
up their claims with the idea that he wrote them all before his death and gave them to another
trusted author to be published later. This theory completely ignores the fact that many of the plays;
including Macbeth and The Tempest, had been written about current events from the times. These
events, like the gunpowder plot, happened after the death of

Humans demand the need for the worlds freshwater supplies to be cultivated as the global

irrigation and damming and reduced water quality. Water managementis the administration of water

Collectively, these are fundamental decisions in which we can improve upon the way we utilise
water as a resource. Individuals, by implementing these decisions, are addressing the issue of water
conservation through the reduction of water use, reducing water pollution and health risks whilst
educating themselves about matters that affect their water supplies (Bliss and Paine, 2010).
Consequently, individuals have been involved in the decision making process, in order to address
the issue of Water management. This is evident through the measures Australian individuals take to
ensure sustainability.
The effective management of water quantity is an urgent issue facing Australia. Therefore, in
response, various groups have been involved in the decision making process addressing the issue.
Supplying Sydney with fresh, abundant and high in quality water is a significant geographical

Dramaturgical Approach By Erving Goffman
Erving Goffman presented the theory of the dramaturgical approach. In general, it insinuates that
people s daily lives can be perceived as performances in action on a stage. People adjust how they
act depending on the situation or audience that is present. As Goffman (1959) explains, when an
individual enters the presence of others they seek to obtain information on the other people and
incorporate information already known to them. Information about an individual helps to define the
situation and what each personexpects of one another in terms of their behaviour and the way they
present themselves. If the people do not know each other prior to the situation, they can take clues
about one another from their appearance and mannerisms. Assumptions can also be made about
people in certain social settings with the presumption that only certain people will be found there.
Goffman s theory is applicable to modern day life and I will be using the example of a school
classroom to depict this throughout the essay.
The individual putting on the performance yearns for the observers to wholeheartedly believe the
impression being given off. They want their observers to believe that they truly possesses these

Why Athletes Are Good Role Models
Why Athletes Are Good Role Models Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and
the hard work that they do to achieve their goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were
more like them. What happens though when the realization sinks in that they are human too and
that some of them do get greedy and selfish? A lot of athletes are model citizens that you should
really look up to, but there are also some bad apples in the bunch that ruin it for everyone.
Athletes can inspire young people to work hard so that their efforts can pay off, but no one is
pure and flawless. Greed does take a hold of some players, but they shouldn t be the ones we

Nobody is forcing athletes to be good people, we just want some of them to use better

of what the NBA is really trying to sell: good players who are even better people. An excellent

The Us Real Estate Industry
Industry Overview: The US real estate industry is a staple in the US economy. It is one of the
main drivers in Economic growth and a telltale sign of the overall health of the United States. For
this reason, this industry is often thought of as cyclical and largely dependent on the health of the
economy and influx of demographics. In 2000 20005 there were large interest rate drops, which
allowed this industry to thrive . Rising demands for real estatepaired with these low interest rates
kept the economy growing as well as residential construction to match. However, in 2006 the
market for residential properties took a large hit in demand and prices began to plummet. This
nationwide crash was realized through the nation, leaving real estate levels at an all time low .
Since then, interest rates have remained extremely low and real estate values and economic
growth has begun to pick up. With the reverse of the real estate industry came the rise of public
storage. People began spending more once we got over the hump of the recession, leading to
crowded homes. As they needed a place to store their items, self storage became the go to
solution. With more than $22 billion in annual revenue in the US alone, self storage has now
stretched itself to over 49,000 facilities worldwide. Total rentable space is almost 2.3 billion
square feet, and about one in 10 households now rent at least 1 storage unit . The size, quality, and

Walt Disney Case Analysis
The Walt Disney Company (DIS) is a well known entertainment and media powerhouse. While its
two most iconic theme parks are located within the US, the company also has parks in France,
Japan, and Hong Kong among other places. The media sector of Disney consists of some of the
biggest names in entertainment. Aside from its namesake Disney outlet, Disney is also the parent
company of ESPN, Lucas Films Ltd., ABC Network, and Marvel Studios. From a broader
perspective, Disney seems poised to make investors happy. While cord cutting (moving from
tradition tv to online streaming services) along with a decrease in subscribers to its ESPN
network has hurt the company, recent moves to enter the media streaming services segment seem
promising. In addition, the current government administration has announced plans to reduce the
corporate tax rate from 35% to 20%. The new administration has also proposed a way for
companies to bring in overseas profits without being taxed. This of course is good news for
Disney and its international operations. With a market cap of $151.4 billion, Disney is without a
doubt a large cap stock. Its beta of 1.34 indicates it is 34% more volatile than the market.
However, this also points to higher potential returns. While Disney s dividend yield of 1.59% isn t
the most impressive, it signifies that the companies is reinvesting its earnings into other business
ventures which would reward investors with capital gains. With a PE ratio of 17.34,

Self Identity In Initiation And Borders
Self identity is the understanding a person has of themselves. The more certain we are of our self
identify, the more likely we will stick with our beliefs and values and not conform. While
individuals often feel obligated to conform to the expectations of society, those that are confident
can overcome these pressures, leading to the findings of one s identity. Obtaining confidence is a
process individuals undergo, once achieved an individual can decide to believe in themselves. The
stories Initiation and Borders support the belief that selfconfident individuals are independent,
optimistic, accepting, and self aware of their abilities. Some may argue that confident individuals
conform to the ways of society. However, it is evident that people with a strong sense of
confidence live according to their values and beliefs rather than conforming. In Borders the

Both stories Initiation and Borders identify characters that have accepted themselves for who
they are. The mother in Borders accepts who she is regardless of others. The son explains: It
would have been easier if my mother had just said Canadian and been done with it, but I could
see she wasn t going to do that (King 49). The mother reveals her pride and acceptance she is not
ashamed of her identity. Correspondingly, in Initiation the author uses heather birds to symbolize
freedom and acceptance as they are all unique. Millicent expresses herself as a heather bird hence,
they are free and accept themselves for who they are. Millicent remains true to her identity: Within
Millicent another melody soared, strong and exuberant ... heather birds that sang so clear (Plath 7).

Total Quality Management ( Tqm )
Total Quality Management (TQM) is a systematic approach that organizations take in order to
implement constant organizational improvements. There are 8 essential points that help an
organization achieve it TQM goals: Training, executive management, Customer Focus, Decision
Making, Methodology Tools, Continuous Improvements, Company Culture and Employee
Involvement. It is important for any modern organization to understand the importance of TQM as
consumers demand better products and services. TQM can differentiate an organization and can
give it a competitive advantage.
A key author in the study of TQM Dr W. Edwards Demingderived 14 points for management
philosophy for management. Deming was influential in Japan when companies like Toyota, Sony
and Fuji adopted his techniques. This led to a rise in demand for Japanese products that represent
what TQM is all about.
Innocent Drinks was founded in 1999 and since then has grown to command 75% of the UK

Dendel Winery Feasibility Study

Study Dr. Sheila Schmitz December 07, 2009 Bendel Vineyard Feasibility Study Lagos Nigeria
Starting your own wine business is not the everyday business opportunity that everyone can simply
jump into, because there are many aspects to consider in starting a winery. Conceivably the most
fundamental problem an entrepreneur will face after expressing an interest in starting a new
business or taking advantage of visible opportunity in an existing business or entirely new venture
will be to conclude the feasibility study of the proposed venture and that study is simply the
evaluation of a plan intended to determine the complexity in... Show more content on

It is believed the amount of wines imported into Nigeria annually is in hundreds of millions of
dollars, however, effort to gather the exact statistic has not been possible because wine import is
grouped along with food and beverages. Liquor houses and bars are open year round. From an
economic standpoint demand for wine and other western alcoholic beverages continue to rise as
the standard of living improves. Establishment It takes roughly about four years to establish the
proposed vineyard and bring grapes to full production. Therefore the primary establishment costs
must be carried forward to be ultimately offset by future income. Based on my investigation, the
net cost for years 1 to 4 is amortized over the life of the vineyard. Since I do not have existing
grape farm, for the first few years, my wine making will be purely based on licensing agreement
with a South African winery to supply grape concentrate that I implement to produce both red and
white wines. While I anticipate very low revenue using the concentrate from South African, much
emphasis will be placed working the vineyard. Resources Land, labor and capital are the
categories of means used in agricultural production. A fifty acre land in the outskirt of Lagos has
been proposed for the winery. The property is owned by the state government, and there is an
incentive of tax break being proposed by the state government.

The Sixth Decade By Jonathan Schell

The Seventh Decade by Jonathan Schell
By: Jordan Petruska
Professor Tom Deligiannis
Friday October 9, 2015
The nuclear bomb is an interesting phenomenon that has captured the fascination of scholars,
academics, politicians, and the media to bring curiosity and fear together. The first and only use
of nuclear weapons occurred in 1945 during the Second World War, wiping out over 200,000
Japanese civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Nuclear bombs, were now viewed as the number
one threat that could potentially destroy our planet and the human race. Since 1945 nuclear
weapons have since been a strong threat that has imposed a psychological anxiety for world leaders
as this threat has expanded to fifty countries with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third and final proposal is taking greater action on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty to
confirm all nations are on the same playing field to dismantle nuclear weaponry. I plan on
providing updated analysis in these issues as well. The Seventh Decade was written in 2007 and
a lot has gone on since then in regards to nuclear activity and I plan on making it clear to the
reader where the U.S. and the rest of the world stands.
It has been seventy years since the last military nuclear bomb was successfully executed and
many of us feel that nuclear threats have decedent or vanished, but Schell informs us that they
are full of life. The Seventh Decade examines how the nuclear bomb has continued to cast a dark
shadow over global politics and has advocated for the non proliferation of nuclear weapons. The
book takes on a robust roadmap to a nuclear bomb free world that looks at the historical dark
uncertainties of the Cold War, where the odds of a nuclear attack were extremely high during the
1962 Cuban Missile Crisis to the spread of nuclear knowledge and technology in the 1990s to
unstable nations like Iraq and Pakistan, increasing the risk and fear of a nuclear war. Schell brings
up some important foundational questions like what can be done? Where are we heading? Why
has the nuclear threat been revived? The Seventh Decade calls into question for a global debate to
end nuclear

The New Business Idea Of Cindy

Date: October 12, 2014 Introduction
The new business idea of Cindy is very innovative but being an intelligent businessman Cindy
should look for all the broad macroeconomic conditions in the U.S economy where he is planning
to begin her contracting business for installing solar panels. Cindy has not only to look for the
growth prospects of solar energy equipment which will make use of solar energy to harness and
convert it into other types of energy which can be used for daily chores work. Being a student of
economics, I would like to give him few ideas and some broad perspectives which Cindy should be
taken care of before investing such a huge amount at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the solar companies have generated good amount of revenues last year. Moreover,
Federal, state and local governments offer incredible solar tax credits and rebates to encourage
homeowners to switch to renewable energy to lower their energy usage and switch to solar power.
The amount of the rebate subsidy varies by program, but some are generous enough to cover up
to 30% of your solar power system cost. Therefore, it would be beneficial for Cindy to set up
such solar installation company. The federal government allows you to deduct 30% of your
solar power system costs off your federal taxes through an investment tax credit (ITC). If you do
not expect to owe taxes this year, you can roll over your credit to the following year. Such huge
incentives and benefits from the side of government will satisfy the social soul of Cindy as she
likes to work for the society.
These incentives dramatically lower the cost of a solar power system or energy efficiency project.
These tax credits and rebates often make solar power less expensive than power from the utility
company. We will start from the overview of the U.S economy, the current GDP volume and the
contribution by each sector. The inflation rate and the unemployment rate would also have great
impact on the growth and the operations of the business in U.S. With crude oil prices

only turned worse about 7 years ago. He is troubled with sleep initiation, which usually takes him
over one hour to fall asleep. As soon as he is asleep, he wakes up several times, which makes him
to struggle again to go back to sleep. He turns in bed without sleep until dawn when he gets up

Non Polar Amino Acid Chromatography Paper
Hypothesis: If a polar amino acid is adsorbed by a polar matrix, then the polar matrix will not move
as far along the matrix as a hydrophobic amino acid. If this is so, the Rf value of a polar amino acid
will be relatively small to that of a non polar amino acid.
Introduction: In order to identify whether an amino acid is polar (hydrophilic) or non polar
(hydrophobic), the process of chromatography is used, which separates the amino acids and
identifies them based on specific chemical traits given by the R groups. The process is preformed
by placing spots of the sample(s) on the origin of a matrix, or chromatography paper, letting it dry,
then placing the edge of the paper with the samples on it into a solvent (in this lab, it was alcohol).

The Power Of Myth By Joseph Campbell
Culture is something that influences everyone s individual behaviorisms, both consciously and
unconsciously. Everybody has a personal culture, often learned from other groups, which then have
their own distinct characteristics. Joseph Campbell was a celebrated American scholar who
studied mythology, having popularized the idea of the hero s journey. The Power of Myth is a
book based on the six episode documentary Joseph Campbelland the Power of Myth, in which
Campbell and interviewer Bill Moyers examine the human world. Both discuss Campbell s thoughts
about mythology, and ultimately culture. Campbell s The Power of Myth introduces important
ideas that don t completely agree with my own values, but still shares notable similarities with...

Moreover, Campbell dedicated his life to studying myth and religion, something that I probably
wouldn t choose to do with my time. Another instance where Campbell shared his dissimilar
observations of myths is his assertion that [i]f you were not alert to the parallel themes, you perhaps
would think they were quite different stories, but they re not. (Campbell 14). Campbell has studied
so many myths that he was able to find the universal lessons that humans have learned. Another
interpretation is that Campbell has made the generalization that all myths are essentially the same. I
believe that while there may be overarching themes found throughout myths, there are still key
differences that make each culture s mythology unique. Trying to group everything into a precise
category or combining all myths into a single monomyth makes any other possibilities obsolete.
For example, both my favorite TV show and book series retell well known fairy tales. Finding new
meanings in a story that is otherwise clichГ© can be eye opening. I think myths and fairy tales
alike reflect the variances between cultures and times, which fluctuate, but Campbell concluded that
all myths tell the same story. This is yet another disparity between Campbell s views on myth and
my own.
Campbell s personal values didn t seem to emphasize independence and diversity as much as mine.
For instance, Campbell said that marriage is the

The duties and roles that have to be carried out by a resource developer are explained by the
figure above. Individual needs of every student have to be identified and plans have to be
developed in order to satisfy the learning needs of all learners. The next step is to design the
resources according to the individual needs that are identified and deliver those resources to the
learners. Once the task in completed by the learners the resource developer then can assess their
performance which will automatically enable the resource developed to identify the effectiveness
of his resources. According to the information given by Turkish online journal of education
technology (2009), two student groups are surveyed where one group of students provided with
the lower level of teaching resources while second group of students are provided with the higher
level of teaching resources. The surveys identified that the students who are provided with higher
level of teaching resources have got much more positive outcome comparing to the other group of
students. We have found that when technologies are thoughtfully integrated with a sound
pedagogical vision, students views of teaching and approaches to learning can be positively
affected. The LeTUS report series (2003) also shows how important it is for the teachers to

This alarming statistic shows that there is a current need to solve this continuing problem haunting
our school systems. The solution to this problem in the state of Florida is the adoption of the
common core standards into our public school systems to bridge this widening gap facing America.
In implementing these new common core standards, the state of Florida would be instituting a
more concrete way of ingraining retention into its students. These standards require much deeper
analysis and thought to arrive at conclusions. This widened view Students cannot simply memorize
facts and formulas that they regurgitate to their teachers, but have to explain and show exactly how
a solution is reached and how they came about solving that problem. It is through this deep level of
thinking that retention and deep learning are truly mastered. These standards are meant to teach
students how to think not what to think. By allowing this independent school of thought and
analysis we are building a foundation for students to excel and take theses skills and run with them.
Many other standards neglect this important aspect and focus and what needs to be taught and how
well students must memorize information for their standardized tests without retaining anything

AIDS Denialism And AIDS Conspiracies
Political leadership is vital to influencing people s beliefs in the credibility of AIDS conspiracies.
Charismatic leaders also plant the seeds of denialism in the minds of the general public, which
fuels AIDS denialism and AIDS conspiracies. For example, influential leaders such as Louis
Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, Will Smith, Spike Lee, and Bill Cosby have stated that HIVis being
used as an agent to harm the black community. For example, Louis Farrakhanㄧleader of The
Nation of Islam promoted the ineffective AIDSdrug Kermon as a nostrum to the black community.
Kermon was introduced in the 1990 s after a clinical trial study conducted by the Kenyan Medical
Research Institution, and published results from the study concluded that the drug improved the
health of AIDS patients and even resulted in some patients sero reverting to an HIV negative status
(Nattrass 2012).
In conclusion, HIV scientists being skeptical about the drug due to the inconsistencies within the
clinical trial, Kermon was heavily promoted in the African American community. Farrakhan sold
Kermon to AIDS patients through clinics operated by the Nation of Islam. During this time, The
Nation of Islam s publication Final Call promoted conspiracy theories about the man made origin
of AIDS, and claimed that FDA approved antiretrovirals were poisonous and a part of a white

So yes, it did, and still can shape and change, the part of our society that has turned against such

The second choice is Empire a television series that plays weekly. The product mass media
channel is, twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and that is due to people wanting to be a part of the
action. Because the networks are creating more shows where you can use your DVR viewing, this
can mean the difference between 100 episodes to 10 for social media.
1.In what way did your example shape, change, or reinforce your own cultural values?
This was a change in my cultural values, Empire has a lot of sexual issues in their episodes and
It doesn t portray who or what I stand for, therefore it made me feel like I must explain myself, or
express my values. If you read some of the responses on twitter and face book, it can get nasty and
yet, not all responses are bad, it s just the language they can use on these channels.
2.In what ways do you think they shape, change, or reinforce the cultural values of our society in
general.
It s obvious that it has changed how society use to be. When there wasn t anyone of these outlets,
society tried to watch what they said, and how they said it, but now, when you have a channel
where you can freely express and show your other side, it has become a welcome mat for a group in
society that doesn t see the wrong in what they say or do.

Another imperative angle, for both endeavors and normal clients is the need of getting to their
information remotely from better places. For this reason, the Ib is a decent arrangement, having at
the top of the priority list how simple is to embed and recover data of any sort from it. This clarifies
the development and accomplishment of on line reinforcement administrations like Dropbox ,
Box.net and Google Docs, that enable customers to have their information safe in the Ib. These
administrations are something other than basic information chronicles. Some of them bolster

Causes And Treatment Of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) develops as a result of an infant
s lungs becoming irritated or inflamed. It is considered a chronic lung disease. BPD progresses
from respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), usually with atelectasis, consolidation, and massive
fibrosis. Bronchopulmonary dysplasia is most common in premature infants who needed
mechanical ventilation and oxygen therapyto survive. Although life saving, these treatments can
also cause lungdamage. BPD has been a severe chronic lung disease in premature infants, going
back to 1967. Northway et al described it a lung injury in premature infants and the classic BPD
had four stages. Each of the stages has radiographically and pathologically differences. The new
versus classic BPD features have changed over the years. The approaches to care, including
surfactant administration, permissive hypercapnia, and noninvasive ventilation have changed. All
these has increased the survival of low birth weight infants as before with classic BPD. The classic
BPD was before surfactant and more management techniques, and inflammation and alveolar septal
fibrosis. All these changes were associated with oxygen toxicity, infection, and barotrauma. Classic
BPD had four stages and each has radiographically and pathologically differences. In Stage 1; Days

of apologizing and owning up his fault! I could cite a whole book full of such scenarios that
aptly describe India s road sense. The street are indeed filled with idiots, be it out of lack of civic
sense or otherwise. And what s even more annoying is the fact that we tend not to care much
about it and take it all in stride as something very normal. It is said that just knowing what is
wrong lays the foundation of the future right (if any). Here is a compilation of the sad state of
our road sense (remember, brevity is a virtue which really tested me here, trying to come up with
as few examples as I could, given our inconspicuous road sense).
HORN NOT OK PLEASE! In this lovely country of ours, no driver of an automobile worth his salt
would shy away from the incessant urge to blissfully honk away as if it is a measure of his oh so
keen driving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When and in which direction they might take a turn is highly unpredictable. And no one s
apparently heard of something as base as Lane Discipline , they switch lanes like Zip Zap Zoom

meant to be broken?). They bring out the zeal they show in their video games on road and drive
like they are playing NFS, as they cannot drive slowly at all. I am sure some of them are too
delusional to know the difference between the real and the virtual

Common Wealth Address ( 1932 )
10.In F. D. R. s Common Wealth Address (1932) he discusses the problems with government and
their solutions starting with the problem that a majority of the men who created national
government were more than not, cruel in how they set things up. The solution is that while they
were cruel, they set up central government, which was a safe haven for the people. The central
government kept out national government to a point on certain issues such as civil disputes, war
and keeping the peace. The national government by many was also thought to only benefit the few
and many of those who founded it to keep the balance of power just the central governments were
also key. The creation of the state or central government balanced the power against the national
government Another problem that was foreseen in the government was the belief that popular
government was dangerous and unfeasible. Government could be a great or awful thing and
protecting people from government in firing on their rights and becoming an awful thing was
Jefferson in the rights that needed to be set. His first rights included those under the name personal
competency and property rights with these right people to an extent could live their life the way
they see fit, but still needed the government in order to protect those rights and to make sure other
powers or people, including the government itself could not infringe upon them. The government
was set to not take people s rights, but to give and protect them,

Homemade Education By Malcolm X Analysis
Trying to communicate, but words aren t used, writing isn t used, it s simply impossible. When
communicating with others we use words, we speak, write, and read. But if one can t perform
those tasks, communication is simply out of reach. The essay Homemade Education by Malcolm
X, a minister and a civil right activist, describes how his experience of learninghow to read and
write in prison changes his life as he became both an articulate speaker and writer. Similarly, Helen
Keller, an author and political activist shares her experience being both deaf and blind in an
excerpt called A Word for Everything. She explains how learning a new languageopened her to all
the joys and horrors of the world. I, like many other authors, also had an experience concerning
language and how it changed my perspective of the world. Speaking Chinese and Vietnamese as
my first languages in the United States made me run into societal barriers and restrictions.
However, by learning English, I could open myself to new possibilities and experiences. By
learning and struggling through the experience of language; new perspectives are opened up such
as how one views themselves, the world, and society. There is a motive each person has that
causes them to want to learn, experience, and struggle with language. Malcolm X lacked writing
skills and claimed that when he tried to write in simple English, [he] not only wasn t articulate, [he]
wasn t even functional (143). Malcolm X learned and

Life Of Pi Film Analysis
Effective film advertisement is achieved via film trailers as they are devoid of intricate storyline
details yet still attract audiences. The film trailer for The Secret life of Walter Mitty (2013),
directed by Ben Stiller and Sean Penn, reveals that Walter Mitty endures frequent daydreams and
lives a relatively monotonous lifestyle until embarking on a mystery driven quest, to carry out
noteworthy experiences. The film trailer for Life of Pi (2012), based on a bestselling novel and
directed by Ang Lee, uncovers a teenage boy who is marooned in the middle of the ocean after a
terrifying shipwreck. Both films focus on the lives of their key characters, who learn a great deal
about themselves through the course of the film.
The film trailers in my study are aimed at family audiences, although they target different age
groups. The Secret Life of Walter Mittyfocuses on comedic shots, which appeals to a vast
demographic from teenagers to young adults. These shots include humorous aspects of Walters
adventures; leaping off a helicopter, riding a skateboard in mountainous surroundings, and
hiking through snowy alp. Walter focuses on his relationship with himself as he receives signals
from people that are important in his life telling him to do something noteworthy . In contrast,
Life of Pi initially presents as a child s film with the emphasis on a child protagonist and a tiger,
but this is not really the case. Life of Pi focusses on Pi s particular relationship with his tiger in a
life boat on the open sea, presenting a far more serious and disturbing atmosphere suitable for a
more mature audience. Life of Pi and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty are both drama/ adventure
movies which show personal growth but each are aimed at distinct target audiences.
At the beginning of the trailer Life of Pi, there is a logo of twentieth Century Fox. Twenty
seconds into the trailer, on screen text appears telling us that this film is from academy award
winning Director Ang Lee and based on the best selling novel . This engages numerous watchers
as it is aimed at a wide target audience who have enjoyed either previous Ang Lee films, or who
have read the book. Contrastingly in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of PFC Transverter
The objective of the control circuit for PFC converter are a near unity power factor should flow and
a steady average voltage should maintain at the output. Literature is abounded with novel PFC
control methods that address these objectives. These control methods can segmented into a few
categories in terms of their implementation approach and structures. Such as the multi loop
multiplier approach, the cycle by cycle integration approach, the single loop control approach and
the sliding mode controlapproach. Under these categories, some common PFC converter control
methods are discussed and their advantages and disadvantages of those methods [].
2.1.1.1Single loop approach
Single loop control methods allowed a single voltage control loop to regulate the output voltage.
The input current shaping is accomplished in an open loop manner, the duty cycle patterns are
predefined by considering in ideal PFC operation. One example in this control method is the duty
phase control (DPC) proposed by Chen [42]. In this method, a phase shift is willingly introduced to
the stored duty cycle patterns. The output voltage is regulated by adjusting this phase shift by using
the output of the voltage error amplifier, which is named the duty phase . This approach simplified
the control structure and eliminated the current loop, without the need to ... Show more content on

In this control method, the error voltage is integrated twice and to generate the reference signal for
current tracking, this signal referred to as the nonlinear carrier signal. In the current shaping,
instead of the sensed switch current for comparison, the sensed current is integrated to obtain an
average value before being compared with the nonlinear carrier signal. This approach reduces the
input current distortion and the noise immunity. Its physical realization is more complicated than

Macro Level Analysis
Sociologists use two levels of analysis: macro and micro. Macro level analysis observes large scale
configurations of society such as, social change and stability. Micro level analysis observes small
scale configurations of society such as, communication or group motivation. Symbolic
interactionism, functional analysis, and conflict theory each fall under either a macro or micro
level analysis category. Symbolic interactionismfocuses on micro level analysis because, it focuses
on face to face interactions; how society establishes social life through the use of symbols.
Functional analysis and conflict theory both fall under the macro level analysis category.
Functional analysis uses macro level analysis because, it focuses on the innner parts of society and
how these parts work together and function as a whole unit. Conflict theory also uses macro level
analysis because, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Symbolic interactionists would focus on the micro level, they would analyze what people do
and what technology does for people on a day to day basis. They would also analyze the way
people use technology to communicate and how social media has dominated real social life. In
contrast, functionalists and conflict theorists would focus more on the macro level, how changes
in the lives of Americans has caused a rise in the obesity rate. Functionalists might stress that
today the upsurge in technology has taken over a lot of jobs which, in turn, causes a decrease in
income forcing people to buy cheap fast food to save their money, especially those who have
several mouths to feed. Functionalist might also analyze the change in lifestyles, that technology
has increased laziness in America, how you can turn the lights on, lock the door, turn the TV on,
order food and necessities that come to your doorstep, feed your pets, talk to friends and family,
and we can do all of that and many more with just the push of a button. Conflict theorists would
stress the war between food

How Does Rob Hall Show Courage In Into Thin Air
I m not going to get killed, I answered. Don t be melodramatic. (Hall, pg. 88) The famous last
words is a clear indication of the doomed future of Rob Hall, but it also shows how courageous he
was throughout the whole expedition. In Into Thin Air , by Jon Krakauer, Rob Hall demonstrates
time and time again his courage by showing nothing but confidence in getting his clients to the
summit, by waiting for Doug Hansen at the summit, and by how long he actually stayed up on the
mountain. First, Rob Hall shows courage by being confident in his ability to get his clients up the
mountain. With so many incompetent people on the mountain, Rob said with a frown one evening
in late April, I think it s pretty unlikely that we ll get through this season without something bad
happening up high. This might have convinced the climbers that they were safe as long as they
were guided by Rob Hall. When he showed that confidence, it assures the climbers that they are in
the best hands possible. His stunning record of getting people to summit was probably directly
related to the way he thought of his climbingskills. And that s what people want in a climbing guide
for Mount Everest, and what people don t want is a non confident guide to have their fate in their
hands.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He knew that he was putting himself at risk by waiting. This also shows how selfless and how
responsible he was for his clients. I know I sound like a bastard for telling Rob to abandon his
client, confessed Cotter, but by then it was obvious that leaving Doug was his only choice. Hall,
however, wouldn t consider going down without Hansen. (Krakauer, pg. 241) This quote shows
that he wouldn t leave anyone on his team behind. It displays his underlying obligation of being a
guide and most people in his shoes would probably leave the client

Best Practices of Network Sercurity Essay
Best Practices for Network Security
Networking is part of our everyday lives now. Weather is us using our phones, computer, using
GPS for directions, watching 3D movies and TV s or in our work environments. Network
Security has become search a big issue since our day to day live started to be more involve with us.
These problems involve in all type of shapes and forms where some of these issues are cyber
attacks, physical attacks, or abuse of policies. People are really exposed due to the amount of
internet activities we have going on in most of our networks. There are two fundamentally different
when it comes to networking, the data networks and the synchronous network comprised of
switches. With that being said there are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also one has to know what type of network has been worked on, what network topologies the
security is going on. The ring topology is going to be different from a bus or star topology. The
hybrid is going to be different from the mesh topology or even wireless, this can be one of the
hardest networks to protect. Also one has to think about size when it comes to building a
network. Most people most of the time can t tell the different between a big network and a small
network. Big networks mostly consist of multiple several servers, computers and other device
which connects to the network from the outside. All these devices need to be protected or
secured when it s connected to the internet and the network. Big networks are used mostly in
bigger institution and organization where by 30 or more computers and server are used and are
all linked to the network. Also speed is a factor when it comes to the internet networks but most
importantly it s important to bigger institutions and companies. Policy is one thing that most
organization needs because if they want their network and the use of internet to be secured.
Policies have to cover all aspect that the network is in. There has to be a lot of thought put in and
all devices and how they connect to the outside world has to be considered. Small networks
sometimes don t have benefits and the down fall bigger networks have. Although speed is a factor,

  • 2. The Sniper In Three Day Road There are many ways of thinking of military snipers. They can be compared to predators in the wild, a skillful killing machine that kills out of necessity and has the respect of their companions. Snipers can also be thought of as prey. They are given a challenging task that requires skill to elude the enemy and often preys upon their mental toughness. In Boyden s book Three Day Road the author uses many passages to compare the role of a sniperto the role of both predator and prey in the wilderness. These comparisons help the reader relate to the experiences of two indigenous boyhood friends, Elijah and Xavier as snipers in World War 1. Instead of shooting caribou back home in Canada as boys, they are now shooting German soldiers in the trenches... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is not so emotionally capable of taking a human life. He uses his experiences as a hunter to cope with taking his first life as a sniper. He tells Elijah its easier for me to picture soldiers with antlers on their heads (115). He uses his experiences killing caribou to cope with the stress of killing enemy soldiers. As a sniper you must be focused on your target and the task at hand. There is no time for second thoughts or to let your mind wonder. Xavier is not as focused as Elijah. When Elijah fires a shot across to the Hun sniper, Xavier jumped the concussion makes me jump a little, even though I am ready for it (118). This shows Xavier is more mentally on edge. It shows his lack of confidence in his skills. This is reflected in his thoughts after they both fire at the German sniper at the end of the chapter. Elijah s shot, and Xavier s bullet trailing a ways behind, the Hun sniper never fired back. Xavier knew Elijah killed him. I can tell he is still worried about himself being and accepting his role as a sniper. I wonder about myself, though (118). As a sniper, you can either feel you are the predator or the prey. One mistake and you can give away your position and you would not make it home. In the book Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden, Xavier and Elijah find themselves as snipers in WW1. Xavier struggles emotionally with his role as a killer. This stress preys on his emotions and makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Shakespeare Sonnet 29 Mood Shakespeare s Sonnet 29 explores the inner mentality of the speaker as he reflects on his hopeless state of depression to eventually realize that there is something more important than monetary wealth and social status. The speaker is introspective and reflective in order to convey his epiphany of the importance of intangible things. Throughout the sonnet, meaning is achieved through the use of rhythmic structure, changing tone, and imagery. In the first quatrain, iambic pentametercreates an introductory rhythm to present the speaker in a depressed state. The speaker begins by stating he is in disgrace with Fortune, meaning he is having bad luck and believes he is unpopular to men s eyes. This allusion to Dame Fortuna, the goddess of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The speaker uses the word yet to begin this shift into the solution to his internal frustrations. When the speaker begins to haply think of thee, it serves as a pun for the word happy. Although this new thought occurs by chance, it is a happy alternative for the saddening thoughts that once occupied his mind. Shakespeare also uses a simile of a lark arising from sullen earth at the break of day, implying that the daytime is much happier than night. The day is compared to the dawning thought of his beloved, and the very idea is like a lark who sings hymns at heaven s gate. The simile uses imagery to create an uplifting, hopeful tone. The shift in the speaker s thoughts is reflected in the tone, as it changes from melancholy to optimistic. Similarly, the heroic couplet at the end serves as a resolution to the speaker s inner conflictions with depression, for he has an epiphany that he would rather be with thee than to change [his] state with kings. The speaker s remembrance of thy sweet love brings him to this conclusion. The enjambment of the last two lines creates flow with the speaker s clear thoughts, allowing him to determine the most important thing in life, rather than monetary wealth or status, with an optimistic ... Both are written in the genre of magical realism, a literary form that describes fantasy and imaginary events in such a way that it becomes believable and real to the reader. Specifically, these books describe the geopolitical turmoil of Latin Americaduring the early twentieth century and the mid twentieth century; respectively, dealing with war, suffering and death. As previously stated, these incidents make it difficult for the reader to distinguish the boundary between reality and fiction. Like One Hundred Years of Solitude, Eva Luna uses magical realism in an oppressed Latin American environment as a means of social change. The book starts out as a myth beginning with its title and character name. Eva s name is symbolic itself. Eva, which means life and Luna, which is Spanish for moon is a symbol of the matriarchal power that women possess. The opening of the book places us in a world of magic to displace us from reality. The mission was a small oasis in the heart of an expanse of voluptuous vegetation writhing and twisting from the banks of the river to the feet of the monumental geologic towers that rose toward the firmament like one of God s mistakes (Allende p. 2). In addition to Eva s name being symbolic, her conception was brought about by magical realism. Eva was conceived as her Indian father lay dying from a venomous snake bite. Consuelo, Eva s mother, became aware that notwithstanding pain, fear of death, and shortness of breath, the gardener responded with ardent enthusiasm when she rubbed his body...that unexpected erection so moved her mature virgin s heart.... • 11. Being Bullied And Having No Recollection Essay The Third Grade: Being bullied and having no recollection Introduction There comes a point in life when most young students are bullied. Some students experience worse bullying than others and suffer more greatly from it. According to US studies, One out of every four students (22%) report being bullied during the school year. (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2015) 64 percent of children who were bullied did not report it; only 36 percent reported the bullying. (Pacer s, 2016) Most children do not report it, leading to their self esteem dropping to an all time low. Whether the child turns to God or has a friend as their saving grace, it is important that they get through those troubles. My Experience The time in my life when I was bullied was a very rough patch and unfortunately a time that I have no memory of. My brain has seemed to block out these events from my mind as I have no recollection of the third grade. I was bullied at a very young age due to my shyness. The second reason I was bullied was due to the fact I was one of the youngest students in the class and also extremely tiny for my age. I fit in better playing with the boys because they were more friendly and just as smart as me, and I was much more girly than the other 8 girls in my class. By the time I was in first grade my only two friends had moved to other schools. Because of this I was left very secluded. • 12. Technology And The Interrupted Brain Seeks Out A Professional Pat Galagan, author of Technology and The Interrupted Brain seeks out a professional to explain this. Dan Willingham, professor of Psychology at the University of Virginia states, Data from the last thirty years leads to a conclusion that is not scientifically challengeable: thinking well requires knowing facts, and that s true not only because you need something to think about. The very processes that teachers care about most critical thinking processes such as reasoning and problem solving are intimately intertwined with factual knowledge that is stored in long term memory (not just found in the environment) (Galagan). This generation of adolescents is so used to looking up everything in the internetthat their brains don t go the extra mile to think and develop. Therefore, they don t possess the amount of factual knowledge needed to mold higher level thinking and analysis. Take a look at this study done by researchers at the University of Connecticut in 2005. A group of seventh graders were asked to read information on a website on the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus and evaluate the site s credibility and trustworthiness. All but one student deemed the site to be credible due to extensive cited sources, pictures, and a wide array of scientific words. The truth? The site was a hoax designed just for this experiment (Galagan). One might ask, why weren t most of the students able to recognize this? That s because these students didn t have a basic knowledge and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After celebrating the 400th anniversary of his death just last year, many people came to realize just how influential and important his works are to people. This crazy conspiracy of the plays of William Shakespeare being written by the 17th Earl of Oxford was started by one man, Thomas Looney. In general, it insinuates that people s daily lives can be perceived as performances in action on a stage. People adjust how they act depending on the situation or audience that is present. As Goffman (1959) explains, when an individual enters the presence of others they seek to obtain information on the other people and incorporate information already known to them. Information about an individual helps to define the situation and what each personexpects of one another in terms of their behaviour and the way they present themselves. If the people do not know each other prior to the situation, they can take clues about one another from their appearance and mannerisms. Assumptions can also be made about people in certain social settings with the presumption that only certain people will be found there. Goffman s theory is applicable to modern day life and I will be using the example of a school classroom to depict this throughout the essay. • 19. The Us Real Estate Industry Industry Overview: The US real estate industry is a staple in the US economy. It is one of the main drivers in Economic growth and a telltale sign of the overall health of the United States. For this reason, this industry is often thought of as cyclical and largely dependent on the health of the economy and influx of demographics. In 2000 20005 there were large interest rate drops, which allowed this industry to thrive . Rising demands for real estatepaired with these low interest rates kept the economy growing as well as residential construction to match. However, in 2006 the market for residential properties took a large hit in demand and prices began to plummet. This nationwide crash was realized through the nation, leaving real estate levels at an all time low . Since then, interest rates have remained extremely low and real estate values and economic growth has begun to pick up. With the reverse of the real estate industry came the rise of public storage. From a broader perspective, Disney seems poised to make investors happy. In addition, the current government administration has announced plans to reduce the corporate tax rate from 35% to 20%. The new administration has also proposed a way for companies to bring in overseas profits without being taxed. This of course is good news for Disney and its international operations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is believed the amount of wines imported into Nigeria annually is in hundreds of millions of dollars, however, effort to gather the exact statistic has not been possible because wine import is grouped along with food and beverages. Liquor houses and bars are open year round. From an economic standpoint demand for wine and other western alcoholic beverages continue to rise as the standard of living improves. Establishment It takes roughly about four years to establish the proposed vineyard and bring grapes to full production. Therefore the primary establishment costs must be carried forward to be ultimately offset by future income. Based on my investigation, the net cost for years 1 to 4 is amortized over the life of the vineyard. Since I do not have existing grape farm, for the first few years, my wine making will be purely based on licensing agreement with a South African winery to supply grape concentrate that I implement to produce both red and white wines. While I anticipate very low revenue using the concentrate from South African, much emphasis will be placed working the vineyard. Resources Land, labor and capital are the categories of means used in agricultural production. A fifty acre land in the outskirt of Lagos has been proposed for the winery. The property is owned by the state government, and there is an incentive of tax break being proposed by the state government. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has been seventy years since the last military nuclear bomb was successfully executed and many of us feel that nuclear threats have decedent or vanished, but Schell informs us that they are full of life. The Seventh Decade examines how the nuclear bomb has continued to cast a dark shadow over global politics and has advocated for the non proliferation of nuclear weapons. The book takes on a robust roadmap to a nuclear bomb free world that looks at the historical dark uncertainties of the Cold War, where the odds of a nuclear attack were extremely high during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis to the spread of nuclear knowledge and technology in the 1990s to unstable nations like Iraq and Pakistan, increasing the risk and fear of a nuclear war. Schell brings up some important foundational questions like what can be done? Where are we heading? Why has the nuclear threat been revived? Therefore, it would be beneficial for Cindy to set up such solar installation company. The federal government allows you to deduct 30% of your solar power system costs off your federal taxes through an investment tax credit (ITC). The Power of Myth is a book based on the six episode documentary Joseph Campbelland the Power of Myth, in which Campbell and interviewer Bill Moyers examine the human world. Another instance where Campbell shared his dissimilar observations of myths is his assertion that [i]f you were not alert to the parallel themes, you perhaps would think they were quite different stories, but they re not. (Campbell 14). Campbell has studied so many myths that he was able to find the universal lessons that humans have learned. Another interpretation is that Campbell has made the generalization that all myths are essentially the same. I believe that while there may be overarching themes found throughout myths, there are still key differences that make each culture s mythology unique. Trying to group everything into a precise category or combining all myths into a single monomyth makes any other possibilities obsolete. For example, both my favorite TV show and book series retell well known fairy tales. Finding new meanings in a story that is otherwise clichГ© can be eye opening. I think myths and fairy tales alike reflect the variances between cultures and times, which fluctuate, but Campbell concluded that all myths tell the same story. The creation of the state or central government balanced the power against the national government Another problem that was foreseen in the government was the belief that popular government was dangerous and unfeasible. Government could be a great or awful thing and protecting people from government in firing on their rights and becoming an awful thing was Jefferson in the rights that needed to be set. His first rights included those under the name personal competency and property rights with these right people to an extent could live their life the way they see fit, but still needed the government in order to protect those rights and to make sure other powers or people, including the government itself could not infringe upon them. • 43. Homemade Education By Malcolm X Analysis Trying to communicate, but words aren t used, writing isn t used, it s simply impossible. When communicating with others we use words, we speak, write, and read. But if one can t perform those tasks, communication is simply out of reach. The essay Homemade Education by Malcolm X, a minister and a civil right activist, describes how his experience of learninghow to read and write in prison changes his life as he became both an articulate speaker and writer. Similarly, Helen Keller, an author and political activist shares her experience being both deaf and blind in an excerpt called A Word for Everything. She explains how learning a new languageopened her to all the joys and horrors of the world. I, like many other authors, also had an experience concerning language and how it changed my perspective of the world. Speaking Chinese and Vietnamese as my first languages in the United States made me run into societal barriers and restrictions. However, by learning English, I could open myself to new possibilities and experiences. By learning and struggling through the experience of language; new perspectives are opened up such as how one views themselves, the world, and society. There is a motive each person has that causes them to want to learn, experience, and struggle with language. Malcolm X lacked writing skills and claimed that when he tried to write in simple English, [he] not only wasn t articulate, [he] wasn t even functional (143). Malcolm X learned and ... • 44. Life Of Pi Film Analysis Effective film advertisement is achieved via film trailers as they are devoid of intricate storyline details yet still attract audiences. The film trailer for The Secret life of Walter Mitty (2013), directed by Ben Stiller and Sean Penn, reveals that Walter Mitty endures frequent daydreams and lives a relatively monotonous lifestyle until embarking on a mystery driven quest, to carry out noteworthy experiences. The film trailer for Life of Pi (2012), based on a bestselling novel and directed by Ang Lee, uncovers a teenage boy who is marooned in the middle of the ocean after a terrifying shipwreck. Both films focus on the lives of their key characters, who learn a great deal about themselves through the course of the film. The film trailers in my study are aimed at family audiences, although they target different age groups. The Secret Life of Walter Mittyfocuses on comedic shots, which appeals to a vast demographic from teenagers to young adults. These shots include humorous aspects of Walters adventures; leaping off a helicopter, riding a skateboard in mountainous surroundings, and hiking through snowy alp. Walter focuses on his relationship with himself as he receives signals from people that are important in his life telling him to do something noteworthy . In contrast, Life of Pi initially presents as a child s film with the emphasis on a child protagonist and a tiger, but this is not really the case. Life of Pi focusses on Pi s particular relationship with his tiger in a life boat on the open sea, presenting a far more serious and disturbing atmosphere suitable for a more mature audience. Life of Pi and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty are both drama/ adventure movies which show personal growth but each are aimed at distinct target audiences. At the beginning of the trailer Life of Pi, there is a logo of twentieth Century Fox. Twenty seconds into the trailer, on screen text appears telling us that this film is from academy award winning Director Ang Lee and based on the best selling novel . This engages numerous watchers as it is aimed at a wide target audience who have enjoyed either previous Ang Lee films, or who have read the book. Contrastingly in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Advantages And Disadvantages Of PFC Transverter The objective of the control circuit for PFC converter are a near unity power factor should flow and a steady average voltage should maintain at the output. Literature is abounded with novel PFC control methods that address these objectives. These control methods can segmented into a few categories in terms of their implementation approach and structures. Such as the multi loop multiplier approach, the cycle by cycle integration approach, the single loop control approach and the sliding mode controlapproach. Under these categories, some common PFC converter control methods are discussed and their advantages and disadvantages of those methods []. 2.1.1.1Single loop approach Single loop control methods allowed a single voltage control loop to regulate the output voltage. The input current shaping is accomplished in an open loop manner, the duty cycle patterns are predefined by considering in ideal PFC operation. One example in this control method is the duty phase control (DPC) proposed by Chen [42]. In this method, a phase shift is willingly introduced to the stored duty cycle patterns. The output voltage is regulated by adjusting this phase shift by using the output of the voltage error amplifier, which is named the duty phase . This approach simplified the control structure and eliminated the current loop, without the need to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this control method, the error voltage is integrated twice and to generate the reference signal for current tracking, this signal referred to as the nonlinear carrier signal. In the current shaping, instead of the sensed switch current for comparison, the sensed current is integrated to obtain an average value before being compared with the nonlinear carrier signal. This approach reduces the input current distortion and the noise immunity. Its physical realization is more complicated than the OCC control ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Macro Level Analysis Sociologists use two levels of analysis: macro and micro. Macro level analysis observes large scale configurations of society such as, social change and stability. Micro level analysis observes small scale configurations of society such as, communication or group motivation. Symbolic interactionism, functional analysis, and conflict theory each fall under either a macro or micro level analysis category. Symbolic interactionismfocuses on micro level analysis because, it focuses on face to face interactions; how society establishes social life through the use of symbols. Functional analysis and conflict theory both fall under the macro level analysis category. Functional analysis uses macro level analysis because, it focuses on the innner parts of society and how these parts work together and function as a whole unit. Conflict theory also uses macro level analysis because, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Symbolic interactionists would focus on the micro level, they would analyze what people do and what technology does for people on a day to day basis. They would also analyze the way people use technology to communicate and how social media has dominated real social life. In contrast, functionalists and conflict theorists would focus more on the macro level, how changes in the lives of Americans has caused a rise in the obesity rate. Functionalists might stress that today the upsurge in technology has taken over a lot of jobs which, in turn, causes a decrease in income forcing people to buy cheap fast food to save their money, especially those who have several mouths to feed. Functionalist might also analyze the change in lifestyles, that technology has increased laziness in America, how you can turn the lights on, lock the door, turn the TV on, order food and necessities that come to your doorstep, feed your pets, talk to friends and family, and we can do all of that and many more with just the push of a button. • 48. How Does Rob Hall Show Courage In Into Thin Air I m not going to get killed, I answered. Don t be melodramatic. (Hall, pg. 88) The famous last words is a clear indication of the doomed future of Rob Hall, but it also shows how courageous he was throughout the whole expedition. In Into Thin Air , by Jon Krakauer, Rob Hall demonstrates time and time again his courage by showing nothing but confidence in getting his clients to the summit, by waiting for Doug Hansen at the summit, and by how long he actually stayed up on the mountain. First, Rob Hall shows courage by being confident in his ability to get his clients up the mountain. With so many incompetent people on the mountain, Rob said with a frown one evening in late April, I think it s pretty unlikely that we ll get through this season without something bad happening up high. This might have convinced the climbers that they were safe as long as they were guided by Rob Hall. When he showed that confidence, it assures the climbers that they are in the best hands possible. His stunning record of getting people to summit was probably directly related to the way he thought of his climbingskills. And that s what people want in a climbing guide for Mount Everest, and what people don t want is a non confident guide to have their fate in their hands.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know I sound like a bastard for telling Rob to abandon his client, confessed Cotter, but by then it was obvious that leaving Doug was his only choice. Hall, however, wouldn t consider going down without Hansen. (Krakauer, pg. 241) This quote shows that he wouldn t leave anyone on his team behind. It displays his underlying obligation of being a guide and most people in his shoes would probably leave the client ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Network Security has become search a big issue since our day to day live started to be more involve with us. These problems involve in all type of shapes and forms where some of these issues are cyber attacks, physical attacks, or abuse of policies. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also one has to know what type of network has been worked on, what network topologies the security is going on. The ring topology is going to be different from a bus or star topology. The hybrid is going to be different from the mesh topology or even wireless, this can be one of the hardest networks to protect. Also one has to think about size when it comes to building a network. Most people most of the time can t tell the different between a big network and a small network. Big networks mostly consist of multiple several servers, computers and other device which connects to the network from the outside. All these devices need to be protected or secured when it s connected to the internet and the network. Big networks are used mostly in bigger institution and organization where by 30 or more computers and server are used and are all linked to the network. Also speed is a factor when it comes to the internet networks but most importantly it s important to bigger institutions and companies. Policy is one thing that most organization needs because if they want their network and the use of internet to be secured. Policies have to cover all aspect that the network is in. There has to be a lot of thought put in and all devices and how they connect to the outside world has to be considered.
