INTRODUCTION Mass Media reaches a large part of our audiences today, whether it be from the
movies, advertising, the internet, newspapers, magazines, twitter, you tube, Instagram, Facebook
and so forth and because of this it can affect how we think and believe, both personally and as a
society. Today, I will address three specific areas that product mass mediachannels have been used
and has made a difference, either to me personally, or in society in general.

lives a relatively monotonous lifestyle until embarking on a mystery driven quest, to carry out
noteworthy experiences. The film trailer for Life of Pi (2012), based on a bestselling novel and
directed by Ang Lee, uncovers a teenage boy who is marooned in the middle of the ocean after a
terrifying shipwreck. Both films focus on the lives of their key characters, who learn a great deal
about themselves through the course of the film.
The film trailers in my study are aimed at family audiences, although they target different age
groups. The Secret Life of Walter Mittyfocuses on comedic shots, which appeals to a vast
demographic from teenagers to young adults. These shots include humorous aspects of Walters
adventures; leaping off a helicopter, riding a skateboard in mountainous surroundings, and
hiking through snowy alp. Walter focuses on his relationship with himself as he receives signals
from people that are important in his life telling him to do something noteworthy . In contrast,
Life of Pi initially presents as a child s film with the emphasis on a child protagonist and a tiger,
but this is not really the case. Life of Pi focusses on Pi s particular relationship with his tiger in a
