note. This naturally shows a cadence as it slows down the line and then continues with a change

phrases are therefore quick but also give a solemn downwards feel. The lieder captures this as
well. The text is very calm and reflective and for the only phrase that ends up it puts emphasis on

historical movement the, Abolitionist Movement but, are they aware of the women that were
involved? When the abolitionist movement started, its goal was to immediately emancipate all
slaves and the end racial discrimination and segregation in the North and South. However, they
weren t granted emancipation until the 1870s. During this movement there were many men
activists involved as well as women activists. Women during this era, fought not only in the front
line for rights, but also behind the scenes as they integrated their rights for freedom in their daily
lives. Women abolitionists fought for freedom through educating blacks, both free and enslaved,
circulating petitions, writing letters/poems, and publishing articles about anti slavery into
periodicals such as the Liberator. There was such diversity in the women, who participated in anti

Abstract
Affinity purification is a powerful method of isolating a protein of interest from a complex
mixture of proteins. the aim of this experiment was to isolate the enzyme GAPDH from a complex
mixture of proteins, in this case yeast lysate. in order to achieve this, a range of methods were used
such as protein, GAPDH activity and ADH assays, SDS PAGE and imumunodetection of ADH and
GAPDH on western blot. The results showed that the isolation of GAPDH was achieved albeit,
extremely with the % recoveries of the elution being abnormally high due to abnormally low initial
material values. The results suggested overall that isolation GAPDH from yeast lysate using
affinity purification is in fact a somewhat effective method.

most likely that the initial material had abnormally low values. It was expected that elution 3
(YNE3) would have the lowest activity in GAPDH, from table 2 it is clear that it had the highest
specific activity but the lowest total activity and thus the lowest % protein recovery.

Introduction
Crime events have the propensity of occurring in our daily routine activities. In order for a crime
event to occur there must be three elements: a motivated offender, a potential target or victim,
and lack of guardianship (Wilcox, 2015). Evaluating my own activity space, I was able to
determine my nodes and paths. By analyzing my nodes and space, I was able to establish a hot
spot, which created a place where criminal activity was prevalent. Using the Routine Activity
Theory and Offender Search Theory I was able to understand crime is prevalent in this area not only
because of the motivated offender but also because of the lack of guardianship, and pro criminal
social and environmental factors, which contribute to a continuous encouragement of criminal
activity.

I live in a small coastal town called Toledo, Oregon. The town has about 3,500 people and is
located approximately four miles east of Newport, Oregon. I live in a single story wood built
home nestled in a remote section of a neighborhood. The places I frequent on a regular basis in my
community is my work (Toledo Police Department; Toledo Oregon), my wife s work (Fred Meyers;

When one thinks of the word medieval, there appear to be almost an instantaneous reaction. Some
may see the period associated with the gothic architecture, Crusades, brutalism, death, the Black

If a new word or neologism is not created by a lexicographer (the person who compiles a
dictionary), or any individual, then who decides what words will be a part of the English
language? The speakers of the language are who choose what words are used and which are not. It
s the day to day users of the language introducing and maintaining words, this is what evolves and
shapes the way the English language is spoken and understood by the people who use it.
There are a number ways in which a new word can be introduced into any given language, in this
post I will focus on the English language and the techniques commonly used to make new words
in the language. Not only does a word need to be created to be part of a language but it needs to be
used as part of the language regularly to be well recognised and accepted by the speakers, and there
for an official word in the language.
Shared Words
The first way a word can be made is through a different language sharing or donating a word with
another language or country. An English example of this technique would be the word ninja
which English speakers took from the Japanese and now is sometimes recognised as an English
word. Once the word is taken from a language the pronunciation and origins of the word become
lost with time and people can forget or are not able to tell that the word has foreign origins.
