Patient s Right And Self Determination
Patient s Right to Self Determination This paper will examine how to recognize the extent to
which a culture s structures and values may oppress, marginalize, alienate, create/enhance
privilege and power, and how to recognize and manage personal values in a way that allows
professional values to guide practice. The interaction between the structure of society and culture
play an integral role in how society decides what is normal and/or acceptable. When the structure
of society impedes a person s right to self determination or services provided, it is important to
reevaluate our value system. Values are directly associated with one s belief system, and in turn
guides behavior. Values play an integral part in choices made in life... Show more content on

This semester I met Mr. X, a twenty six year old African American male who is paralyzed from
the waist down. Mr. X has been in a wheelchair since the age of seventeen and is unable to live
alone. He requires twenty four hour care due to mental health and his physical condition. Mr. X
was in an assisted living facility prior to being admitted to the Behavior Health Pod. He stayed
in B Pod for six weeks then transferred to Cape Fear Hospital for further treatment. He is now
ready for discharge and the staff is having difficulty placing him because the agency he came
from refuse to accept him back. After reviewing Mr. X s chart, it is noted that he came from an
assisted living facility but cannot return due to his abusive behavior and chronic marijuana use.
I met with Mr. X to receive a clear picture of the concerns. He stated he smoked marijuana and
refused to stop, it allowed him to escape and because of his use, he cannot return. He also
disclosed that the facility only had older people, was located in a secluded area surrounded by
trees, and he was uncomfortable. After speaking for several hours, I learned he had been kicked
out of many of the assisted living facilities in the surrounding areas that accepted Medicaid. He
stated he told staff he was going to commit suicide and that is how he ended up in the B Pod. Mr.
X s behavior presents a professional ethical dilemma for Cape Fear

The Girls Are Considered Outcasts
Three hundred girls are considered outcasts every year. They re shipped off into an unknown
area to most people. The girls are only eleven and they re taken away from their families. Their
families are the ones that want them gone. I boarded the cruise ship and I walked in the suite.
There were a huge group of boys walking around. The cruise shipis very warm and it s very cozy.
The boarding event takes about three hours. The girls have to line up and they have to get a
baggage check. I can t wait to go on this journey. I just feel unloved by my parents. The boys are
there to help the girls.
They re outcasts too, but they re much older than the girls. They re either sixteen or seventeen.
There s a front desk and the workers used their computers. The workers are boys and they make
sure the girls are ok. It s been two hours since the boarding event started. I reached my room and it
was a luxury suite. I shared the room with another girl. Her name is Bailey Holland. Her dad is rich
and I heard she is very smart. Bailey greeted me and I smiled.
Hi, Bailey. I said. Hi, Sarina. Bailey said. You know my name? I said. Of course, the workers
told me you would be my roommate. They showed me your picture. You are so pretty. Bailey
said. Thank you. I said. I heard there s a very big restaurant that sells barbecue and steaks. Bailey
said. I love barbecue. I said. There are more restaurants. Bailey said. Let s check them out. I said.

Texas Executive Branch
One thing that a majority of Americans do not realize is that each state has their own constitution
that binds with the laws of the United States constitution. Each of these state constitutions are a
little different in each way and fulfill the needs of the residents in each given state. In many ways
the United States constitutionand the Texas constitution are the same, both documents contain a
bill of rights to help protect Texas residents of their civil and god given liberties. Both have a
system of checks and balances with a separation of powers. But at the same time they could be very
different, for starters they were both designed under very different circumstances.

does over a country. (Robins 2012) Texas governors do not have much power, but historically
they have had larger than life personalities. The Texas governor is probably the most visible state
official and is among the highest paid governors in the nation. The governor, however, is ranked
next to last when it comes to executive powers. Mr. Robins states that yes the Texas governors are

Sex in the Media Essay
Sex in the Media
One of the most important resources of a business is its advertisement team. Due to the fact that
people can and will buy your product only if they know about it. This is the reason that marketing
and advertisement have the biggest budgets in a business. This is the reason that places such as
Amazon.com spend up to four million dollars on advertisement a year, according to Dream
Biz.com written by Burke Hedges. There is a saying that goes Sex sells is this true? Most people
would argue that it does. Since choosing this topic it has forced me to see everything different.

about these commercials that they have invested over 33 million dollars. They obviously must be
working but advertisements are supposed to expose the consumers to your product. Maybe I?m
just a little uptight when I expect the commercial to tell me something about the product. For
years music videos have been venues in which artist can show off other performing skills may it
be acting or dancing. They were originally created for promotional purposes. These promotions
are generally used to show the artist in a different light. Of course there are commercials for
artist?s records as well. One commercial in particular bothered me. There is an R B artist by the
name of ?Tank? it is obvious that he cares about his appearance because of his well chilled
physique, but he has one commercial where he is working out; doing sets of bench presses, push
up, pull ups and so forth. What bothers me about the commercial is that you don?t hear any of his
music and just watch him work out. From my understanding what the consumer is buying is his
music and not his body. I know that sex sells but it seems to me that advertisers no longer want to
do any work, just slap an attractive body on screen or paper and call it a day.

St Augustine and classical education Essay
Saint Augustine and Classical Education
In Saint Augustine s deeply personal work, Confessions, he shares the story of his life up to his
eventual conversion to the Christian faith. His odyssey through life is, at times, one of bitter inner
conflict between his intellect and faith. Augustine s classical education had a profound affect on the
way he viewed the world, and eventually had a major affect on the way he approached Christianity.
He is definitely an intellectual Christian, and viewed many aspects of his faith from this
perspective. Augustine s attitude towards classical literature and thought was at times slightly self
contradictory. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In book five, Augustine spoke of this principle by comparing two men:
A man who knows that he owns a tree and thanks you for the use he has of it, even though he
does not know its exact height or the width of its spread, is better than another who measures it
and counts all its branches, but neither owns it nor loves its Creator. In just the same way, a man
who has faith in you has all the wealth of the world... (V, 95)
It can be argued that his intellectual pursuits further complicated his conversion because he was
tormented by certain philosophical questions that became obstacles to his ultimate goals. In his
youth he was obsessed with counting all the branches, while never seeing the whole tree. At times
Augustine asserted that his pursuit of worldly wisdom was in direct conflict with his journey
towards God.
What, then, was the value to me of my intelligence, which could take these subjects in its stride,
and all those books, with their tangled problems, which I unraveled without the help of any human
tutor, when in the doctrine of your love I was lost in the most hideous error and vast sacrilege? (IV,
89)
Despite all of the negative aspects of his education on which Augustine focused, it is obvious that
his schooling was an essential part of his character. Other than Christianity, his education was the
most important

Essay Napoleon Bonaparte
Napoleon was born on August 15th, 1769 in Ajaccio (Capital of Corsica) which is an island 70
miles west of Italy. His parents were Carlo Bonaparte and Letizia Ramolino. They got married
when Carlo was 18 and Letizia was 14, this was in 1764. Letizia was the one who was always
putting food on the table, Carlowas way to lazy. His father was interested in politics.
Napoleon got sent to military school (Brienne Military Academy) in 1778. He hated it; his peers
were constantly making fun of him. They mostly made fun of him for being a Corsican; this would
make him love his homeland more. Because of the young men constantly making fun of him he
would get very angry and his anger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His mother still looked at him the same and, still, frequently whipped him when he misbehaved.
In 1788, when he was supposed to be sent to return to duty he actually got sent to the Artillery
Training School at Auxonne. During that year he learned all he needed to know about cannons.
The more he learned about them, the more he liked them. He called them Engines of Death
which protected the brave soldiers. He studied many books about war, geology, and other
subjects. His favorite book was the Social Contract written in 1762 by Jean Jacques Rousseau.
Because of this book he hoped for a constitution limiting the kings power and guaranteeing people
rights. Which is ironic because Napoleon would later be a dictator and the book is based on
aristocracies and democracies.
At the end of the eighteenth century the French revolution had spread chaos across France.
Lazy King Louis XVI did little to help France. It is said that his favorite pastimes were hunting,
where he killed 1,274 deer and 189,251 smaller animal, this would take a lot of time doing. His
other favorite pastime was rolling pellets of dirt from between his toes and flicking them at
anyone who came in his range. He spent France s money on his personal luxuries. His wife and
daughter were the same way. They were always buying expensive jewelry and expensive dresses.
Nobles were also treated very well. That is the reason why 21 million

Self-Discovery In Herman Hesse s Siddhartha
In Herman Hesse s Siddhartha, the titular main character journeys to find peace, Nirvana. This self
discovery lends itself to a main theme of the path to finding peace. Hesse used the river, its
ferryman, Vasudeva, and clothing to convey this theme of self discovery and the journey to it. A
river itself symbolizes life; it changes, yet cycles through. Traveling along a river symbolizes the
journey or quest for something. At the river, Siddharthafinally reaches peace and found what he
traveled and looked his life for. His discovery did not occur the his first time at the river; he only
crossed it then during a different attempt at discovery. His epiphany occurs because he interacted
with the river, became another ferryman for a time and listened to it. He heard the life flowing
through it and found his peace: then the great song of the thousand voices consisted of a single
word, which was Om: the perfection (98). Siddhartha spent years and tried various methods to find

suggested listening to the river on multiple occasions, and he gave advice to Siddhartha about his

peace. Siddhartha needed the ferryman to find peace. The ferryman listed to the river and could

Fast Car by Wyclef Jean Analysis
When a Car is More Than Just a Car The first time I heard the song, Fast Car by Wyclef Jean, I
really liked it because it was catchy. After listening to it a few more times, I realized there was a
lot of meaning to it. To me, the main goal of this song is to teach the young listeners a difficult
lesson to be careful before they do something that could potentially ruin their lives. Also, Jean is
showing his listeners there is help out there and tomorrow is not promised everybody needs take
advantage of their available resources so they do not harm themselves. Basically, Jean wants
everyone to be careful with the life that they currently have rather than wasting time here on earth.
Jean explains his story by using a type of music that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

somebody up there, you need a helping hand, look, I m right here. Basically, Jean means
everybody goes to the moon, or heaven, one day. However, a person does not have to be rich to
take a trip up there. We all know people who have passed away and gone to heaven; it is never
easy to say goodbye to people who leave Earth. He wants everyone to know that there is plenty
of help on Earth. Jean does not want anybody to mess up their life to the point that it isn t worth
it to fix it. This part of the song has the most symbolic meaning. Cars symbolize the journey of
life from birth to death, just as they help you travel from one place to another. Jean uses the
verses to show literal meanings of why we need to be careful with cars; he uses the chorus to
show the symbolic meaning associated with fast cars and why they have the ability to be so
dangerous. Also, he prefers not to have any hardships to control his listeners lives either. The
verse goes on to say, ...to help you see clearly now. Jean wants to be the helping hand for
everybody. Why die, when you could fix your problems and live as a happy individual? The
whole purpose of the song is to be smart and not let our cars or problems control us. The bridge of
the song emphasizes the dangers of cars. A person might be drinking or not in the right mental state

The Woman Behind Every Man
Matthew Lee
Mrs. Wong
ENG 3UAA a
16 July 2015 The Woman Behind Every Man Can it be argued that men play a bigger role than
women in life? Through the centuries, women are seen as less valuable than their sexual
counterparts, but time and time again, females have proven themselves as being just as
intellectually capable as men. This concept is present in William Shakespeare s play, Macbeth,
which is a tragic play demonstrating the effects of absolute power and corruption. The characters,
especially the women, are heavily influential and greatly impactful in the growth of others. Lady
Macbeth s actions greatly shape and develop the personality and motivations of Macbeth, leading
to his ultimate demise. Although Duncan dies at the hand of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth plays a
key role in manipulating him to complete the murder. Following the news that her husband will
soon become king, Lady Macbeth realizes she does not want to wait. She wants to be queen as
soon as possible and for Macbeth to be successful, but she is aware that Macbeth is not capable of
killing King Duncan. Thus, Lady Macbeth takes it upon herself to convince her husband that
killing the king is just, which is present in her soliloquy as she says, Hi thee hither, That I may
pour my spirits in thine ear, And Chastise with the valour of my tongue All that impedes thee from
the golden round, (1.4.24 27)
Macbeth has the ambition for power. Nevertheless, he does not have the capability to commit such a

In Plato s Republic, Socrates describes a cave in which men are chained to the ground to the
point where they are not able to move at all, save for their eyes. These men spend their lives
staring at the wall of the cave where shadows are projected due to clay figures sitting atop of a
wall behind the men while a great fire blazes behind the wall, casting shadows of the clay figures
on the cave wall. Due to watching the shadows on the wall for so long, the men perceived the
shadows as the Truth. Outside of the cave, there are hills, trees, lakes, people, the sky, stars, the
moon, and the sun. If one of the men were to be unchained and dragged out of the cave and into the

China s Transition Economy Essay examples
China s transition from a planned economy to a market economy began at the end of 1978. When
China started the process, the government did not have a well designed blueprint , and so the
approach to reform can be characterized as experimental. The process of reform has been gradual
and incremental in nature and is still incomplete. In fact, China can t be treated as a full market
economy nor can it be treated as a centrally planned economyin which the Government substantially
influences prices of goods or monopolises international trade. It is somewhere in between.
Reform measures:
1)The introduction of enterprise taxation.
2)The new wage system which linked with the productivity of workers (this would give workers

Trade was monopolised by centrally controlled Foreign Trade Corporations, under the control of the
central Government ministries. Other trade was not permitted.
Also, exports had state controlled prices set by the Foreign Trade Corporations under the foreign
trade plan. Similarly, imports were sold to domestic firms and consumers at state controlled prices.
Fortunately, the trade regime has been significantly liberalised. China s Open Door policy has
dramatically reversed the self sufficient position of pre 1978, welcoming foreign investment and
trade. Increasingly, China s imports and exports are being determined by market forces. The ratio
of imports and exports to Gross Domestic Product is 42:100 and China is now the 10th largest
trading nation.
Formal trade planning has been abolished, but a number of central foreign trade corporations and
large state owned enterprises have been given selective monopoly powers to export and import
strategic commodities (important resources that China had to ensure a steady supply of). This
process has been termed as canalisation by the World Bank (1994).
These commodities, shown in the table, represented approximately 4.6% of China s exports and
19.4% of imports in

How Did Religion Influence Ancient Greek Society
Religion was a very important factor in Ancient Greek society. The city states had the same
religion. Zeus is the God of Gods according to their belief system. The ancient Greeks have a
polytheistic religion with twelve main Gods. In Greek Mythology, people believe that the gods
are a part of every aspect of life and they influence the events in life. Olympia was a shrine to Zeus.
Greek religion was present in almost all aspects of the Olympics, the religion was accepted by
the majority of Greek society, they made sacrifices and believed that the gods influenced the
victors, the victors were rewarded with sacred items. All of the city states believed in Greek
mythology and it was mostly accepted by Greeks. There was no one book of sacred scripture.
There were no binding social classes from religion because they believed that the Gods and
Goddess would give gifts to those who they saw fit. The religion was very much influenced by
nature. They worshiped in sanctuaries. Often times they made scarifies to the gods at the

Sophie Germain was fiercely independent and intelligent throughout her life. She is an inspiration

Human Cloning Is Not Your Twin
Imagine walking down the street and seeing someone who looks exactly like you. Sam hair,
same eyes same everything. So now you start to question yourself, Is that my brother or is that
my sister am I twin. That would be cool right. Now you are planning out all the fun things you
guys are going to do. But sorry to burst your bubble but no you do not have an identical twin. So
the question is what is it, because this thing that is standing in front of me looks exactly like me.
By now you are all saying am crazy because if am going to say that someone who looks exactly
like you is not your twin then am crazy. But yes it is not your twin. So my topic today is not about
identical twin my topic today is Human cloning.
Now I know that all of you know and have seen identical twins. And at some point you all
wonder what would it be like to have a twin, what would it be like to have someone look exactly
like you? Now with scientist experiment and finding new results in cloning how long will it be
before they clone a human. I want to ask you guy will there be another you?
I have been fascinated with human biology for as long as I can remember. Being in the nursing
field is so interesting. Learning about the human body is just amazing. Scientists have been
experimenting on human cloning for a while now. I have read articles on the topic for example the
article Human cloning and the myth of disenchantment by Laurentiu Staicu discusses the arguments

Gastrointestinal Bleeding (LGIB)
A lower Gastrointestinal Bleed is referred as any bleed that occurs distal to the ligament of Treitz
and superior to the anus. This includes the last 1/4 of the duodenum and the entire area of the
jejunum, ileum, colon, rectum, and anus1. This rectal bleeding may be overt or occult, and overt
bleeding can be acute, massive or chronic.
In patients who presents with gastrointestinal (GI) haemorrhage, about 20 33% are cases of Lower
gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB). In Western countries the annual incidence of LGIB is about 20
27 cases per 100,000 population2. In a recent study that takes place at National University Hospital
of Iceland the incidence of acute lower GI bleed (ALGIB) was 87/100000/year3. Statistically upper

In a retrospective study in Detroit USA, analysis of 1100 patients with acute LGIB was done, all of
whom were admitted to the surgical service of a single urban emergency hospital, Gayer et al
determined that the most common etiologies for bleeding in these patients were diverticulosis
(33.5%), hemorrhoids (22.5%), and carcinoma (12.7%). The investigators also found that most
patients in the study (55.5%) presented with hematochezia, with the next most frequent
presentations being maroon stools (16.7%) and melena (11%) 8. In another study that was done at
National University Hospital of Iceland during 2010. In this study all patient who underwent
colonoscopy were included, 1134 patients underwent 1275 colonoscopies. Overall, 163 patients
had ALGIB. The crude incidence for ALGIB was 87/100 000 inhabitants/year. The most common
findings were diverticulosis (23%) and ischemic colitis (16%) 3. A difference has been noticed
between the West and the subcontinent in the frequency of different findings in patients with rectal
bleeding. In Pakistan, lot of studies were done on aetiology and treatment of upper gastrointestinal
bleeding but little work is done on the lower gastrointestinal tract. In a study carried out in 1990 in
Pakistan, colonoscopy was performed in patients with lower gastrointestinal tract pathologies. The
most common pathologies diagnosed were ulcerative colitis and malignancy, followed by amoebic
colitis, while percentage of Crohn s colitis, polyps and diverticuli were less9. In another study
conducted it was determined that the most common cause of rectal bleeding is proctosigmoiditis10.
Yet in another study carried out in Karachi using flexible sigmoidoscopy to determine the cause of
lower GI bleeding revealed most common findings were hemorrhoids in

Educating The Learner
Educating a Learner
Bastable asserts that educating others is one of the most essential interventions that a nurse
performs (2014, p.114). Although in an interventional situation, the patient is the learner, it is just
as important that the nurses caring for those patients have current, evidence based knowledge. In
either case, two roles exist; educator and learner. Bastable (2014) adds that there are several aspects
of the learner that must be assessed in order to competently achieve the educational goal.
The Learner In an effort to improve team performance and patient outcomes, management and nurse
educators must provide opportunities for the nurse to learn the most up to date information on safe,
quality care for their patients (American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the educator must determine what knowledge is needed by the learner. Second, the level of
readiness to learn must be assessed. Finally, the style of learning that is best suited for the learner

as well as motivation for this age group. Their occupation as nurses, and the commitment to
education inherent to nursing, however, mitigates some of those

The Six Characteristics Of Toulmin s Argument Model
Toulmin s Argument Model
Stephen Toulmin was a twentieth century British philosopher who noticed that good, realistic
arguments typically will consist of six parts. The six parts that Toulmin outline in is model are:
claim, data, warrant, backing, qualifier and rebuttal. According to Toulmin (1969), a claim is a
statement that you are asking the other person to accept. In other words, a claim is the statement
being argued (Rottenberg Winchell, 2012). Toulmin (1969) defined data as the foundation of real
persuasion and is made up of hard facts and highlight the reasoning behind the claim. The data
according to Toulmin is the truth on which the claim is based. The data (grounds) of an argument
may include proof of expertise and the basic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to Aristotle syllogism, Toulmin s model is more effective in make a controversial or
debatable claim (what you want your readers to accept). Toulmin argument also takes into account
the hitches in life where individuals have to qualify their thoughts with words such as sometimes,
often, presumably, unless, and almost. Comparing Aristotle s formal syllogism, Toulmin s model
highlights that logic is often based on probability rather than certainty and focuses on claims. It is
also an effective instrument for writers; since writers can use Toulmin s model to check the logic
of our own arguments. Toulmin model is also a more effective instrument for writers because it is
very useful in reaching the how and why levels of the argument; since it allows writers to
disintegrate an argument into its different parts (such as claim, data, and warrants) so that they can
critically evaluate on how well the different parts work together. As a result, writers will be equip
with the necessary skills in understanding and reacting to various conditions in order to support
claim where it is weak, but also to understand the reasonable objections of people who see the
world differently (Wood,

The Theory Of Progress And Its Components
The optimism of some human s nature has brought forth interpretations such as the progress theory
to reflect it. Looking back on the world and prescribing that it was a primitive existence compared
to the present is an interpretation that has held some ground until the face of adversary reveals
itself. The progress of human history near the common day is not a straight linear progression that
hits abstract checkmarks of movements and revolutions, but it is a more complex study. Historians
such as J.B. Bury, Herbert Butterfield, and John Lukacs talk about the theory of progress and how it
manifests in historical writings. The scientists, C.P Snow wrote in the Two Cultures a framework
of mind of the significant revolutions in science. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ability to look at the past and its developments is invaluable to see the developments play out
and see how progress is a limited ideal. The past might be crystallized now in textbooks, but the
people of the past did not have the future at their grasp to evaluate. The abridgement between time
periods and movements are not times that we can consider as straight forward progressions, but
times in their own right and merit. The luxury of looking back into the past is a convenience
that allows the historian, student, or teacher to read into the times, but that convenience also
draws lines where causes and effects were not as simple. The tendency to patch the new research
into the old story even when the research in detail has altered the bearings of the whole subject is
an effect of the convenience and discredits the past with comparisons to the present. The past is
also held to a standard that keeps the present wondering on how this preceded it. When studying
the past it is desirable to see one s time as superior and one that is pioneering the mantle of
progress, but this is not so when the direction that follows is not a desired one such as Snow s
description of the sciences where if the scientists have the future in their bones, then the traditional
culture responds by wishing the future did not exist. This is common since We live forward, but
we can only think backward , but

Reaction Paper On Hooke s Law
Take a simple idea and take it seriously
Charlie Munger, Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway
This quote taken from Charlie Munger, best describes the invention of the retractable pen. The
mechanism behind the retraction and the extension of a pen may appear straightforward but the
impact it has made in people s lives is larger. As a student, I have to use a pen in my everyday
work and without it I cannot get any of my assignments done. In the process of using it, I always
wonder how a simple spring within a pen, plays a major role in the functioning of the pen. This
led to my interest in finding out that the concept of Hooke s Law is responsible for this. The force

The value in the above equation needs to take into account the mass of the spring as well. This

The Cosmic Race By Jose Vasconcelos
As we begin to go on an excursion through literature, it is important to understand the concept of
what an ethnography is. Ethnography is known to be a descriptive type of work that analyzes
culture and customs of individual people. James Clifford has implemented this work into his
studies and has influenced many others to do the same. I saw through the books I have read,
ethnography makes these books become vivacious for a reader. In The Cosmic Race, by Jose
Vasconcelos, he discusses throughout the book about numerous races and emphasizes that the fifth
raceknown to be mestizo would overpower any race, and dominate the future. Although, throughout
the book he argues reasons why one race would be on top of the pyramid, he contradicts himself
numerous times in his arguments that leaves readers questioning, and a little confused. His writing
style is somewhat jumbled that it takes time to grasp what he is trying to convey. Overall, it was a
bizarre reading that it was hard to grasp his ideas, and had my mind in a labyrinth. First,
Vasconcelos mentions these four main races; Mongols, blacks, whites, and Native Americans. Also,
he states that Latin Americans have begun interracial relationships that have created the mestizo or
a mixed race. In the reading, he mentions that mestizo races will slowly evanescent white people
from the top of the hierarchy or pyramid as the prominent race. He quotes, Whites will try to take

Lao Tzu Oligarchies
Throughout the time of recorded history, humans have had the natural desire for protection and
order. That desire is where government comes in. There have been many forms of government
throughout history, according to Aristotle, there have only been two types, oligarchies and
democracies. Aristotle goes on to say that there are variations of these governments; for example,
an aristocracy is considered to be an oligarchy where the wealthy land owners make the decisions in
government. Later in that same paragraph, he states that a republic is a form of democracy; these are
not the only variations of democracies and oligarchies as there are many variations of these two
types of government along the spectrum (Aristotle 3). Societies all through history have one thing
in common, they all had some form of government; This raises the question though, what is the
difference between a good and bad government? Lao Tzu has an insight on the differences
between a good and bad government in his philosophical writing, Thoughts from the Tao te
Ching, where he states that a good government shall not make their people want, they should
provide everything that their people need. He also states that wars cause chaos and a good
leader would not wage war and sacrifice his or her people and be moral in their decisions (Tzu
19). In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson lists his grievances against King
George III. The first of these grievances is that King George refused to

The Pathophysiology Of Deltoid Muscles
Lowering Phase Once the push up is completed, the person must precisely lower themselves
back down to a prone position. In this phase, the same muscles are used as discussed in the
pushing up phase, except in the opposite direction. Stabilizers The muscles being discussed are
needed to help stabilize the body and keep it straight while doing a push up. The primary muscles
being examined are the abdominal muscles. These muscles are called the rectus abdominis. They
are located in the anterior trunk of the midline. This muscle is divided into two sides and is
separated by the linea alba. They start at the crest of the pubis and insert in the costal cartilages of

This muscle is the only muscle that is on the posterior side of the arm. It is the agonist to the
deltoids during some movements. According to Lippert, the triceps has three heads: long, lateral
and medial. That is why it is commonly called the triceps muscle, tri meaning three. The long
head starts at the inferior rim of the glenoid fossa of the scapula and goes between the teres
minor and major. The lateral head attaches to the lateral side on the posterior surface of the
humerus, just below the greater tubercle. The medial head of the triceps lies deep to the long
and lateral heads. It is attached on the posterior surface below the lateral head. The body of the
triceps are formed when all three heads come together (Lippert, 2011). The action of the triceps
brachii is to extend the elbow and the shoulder, and create shoulder adduction. The origin of this
muscle is in three different places, due to the three heads. The long head origin is the infraglenoid
tubercle of the scapula. The lateral head origin is the posterior surface of the proximal half of the
humerus. Lastly, the medial head origin is in the posterior surface of distal half of the humerus. The

Comparing Nisus And Euryalus In The Aeneid
The story of Nisus and Euryalus in the Aeneid holds so many connections to the episode of
Odysseus and Diomedes that there remains no doubt that the Iliad inspired Vergil s tale. In Book
10 of the Iliad, Agamemnon and Nestor send Odysseus and Diomedes into the Trojan camp in the
middle of the night, where the two heroes slaughter more than a dozen sleeping men. In Book 9 of
the Aeneid, Nisus and Euryalus volunteer to spy on the sleeping Rutulian camp to provide the
Trojans with information on their enemies, killing a number of men in the process. Of course,
the two stories end in drastically different ways. At first glance, the two episodes seem so similar
in their beginnings that it is easy to overlook Vergil s message embedded in his story. His
divergence from Homer s tale is a way of stating his ideas on the meaning of heroism and honor.
The stories from both epics start in almost identical ways: two brave men set out to the enemy s
camp in an attempt to collect information from the enemy. Upon closer review, however, it is
apparent that the intentions of and relationships between the pairs are not quite the same.
Diomedes takes up the challenge because he feels he needs to as one of the most powerful Greek
warriors, saying, Nestor, my pride as a man urges me / To go into the enemy camp over there,
(10.227 228). He chooses Odysseusfor strategic reasons, stating that Odysseus has what it takes for

What did you observe when the popsicle sticks were placed into the bunsen burner flame?
Depending on the compound on the popsicle stick, the reactions emitted lights of all different
colors which shows the amount of energy released on the color scale. 2. Each compound use
consists of a metal component and a nonmetal component. In other words, in lithium chloride, the
lithium component was the metal and chloride component was the nonmetal. Which of the two
components do you think determined the color emitted by the popsicle stick? How does your
data support your answer? I think the metal component produced the color emitted. For example
copper nitrate, and copper sulfate produced the same color as each other. 3. Write a four step

Dr. Sun Yat sen was fortunately able to make it out of China alive. From that day forth he was a

Toyota s Ethical Issue Of Toyota
Hold on and pray. These were the last words spoken to a 911 operator on August 29, 2009,
before the speaker, Christopher Lastrella, and 3 family members died in a horrific car accident
in San Diego, California. The cause of the crash? The pedal of the rented Lexus E350 was stuck
in full throttle, hurtling the car down the highway at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour, rendering
the brakes completely useless. Those who passed away included two adult men, an adult woman,
and a thirteen year old girl. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the floor mat had
caused the accelerator to be caught and unable to be released. This incident would serve as the
initial event that jumpstarted the public s concern for exactly what was going on with many Toyota
models. In this paper, we will explore the ethical issue that was present in this case, whether or not
Toyota acted ethically in its handling of the unintended acceleration of its vehicles. In order to do
this, we will examine the situation in the light of the six step Hosmer s moral reasoning process.
This will include, among other aspects, an examination of the event in consideration of shareholder,
stakeholder, and virtue theory. In addition to that, the authors will apply the Total Integrity
Management model to Toyota s actions in order to examine the moral integrity of the company as it
pertains to trust. To conclude the paper, the authors will provide a normative statement regarding
the actions of Toyota. To

4.No Denial of Medical Care In order to state a constitutional claim under the Eighth Amendment
for lack of proper medical care, a prisoner must meet a three fold test. First, the actions or

Summary Of The Marginal World By Rachel Carson

TLIT 437: Nature and Environment in American Literature
Ellen Bayer
Conversation Essay
As reading this journal the topic that has come to my attention is how a lot of these nature writers
are looking at nature either as a positive or negative experience. Most of these shorts journals are
looking at nature for not only for what it is, but what it offers, for example in the short The
Marginal World written by Rachel Carsonshe portrays The Shore is an ancient world, for as long
as there has been an earth and sea there has been this place of the meeting of land and water. Yet
it is a world that keeps alive the sense of continuing creation and of the relentless drive for life.
Each time that I enter it, I gain some new awareness of its beauty and its deeper meanings,
sensing that intricate fabric of life by which one creature is linked with another, and each with its
surroundings. (481). Based off this quote, we can see that a lot of these authors did not only see
nature as something that could be touched, but rather seen as a spiritual entity. For me I believe the
title The Marginal World was clarified in the first part of the essayby the historic war even between
both surfaces the wave and the land. She viewed both landscapes as both spiritual entities. When
she talks about how the waves would always withdrawal, but never gave up, how the boundary of
the sea was indescribable, this showed us how much Rachel Carson adored the ocean. It seemed

The Characteristics Of Louise From Bob s Burgers
Have you ever seen and a movie or a show that when you watch it makes you feel like you re that
character in the movie or show? And all the characteristics that one character has you see them in
you. People mostly teenagers in my perspective and the ones that connect with the characters more
because they are trying to find themselves. To find who they are and they may change characters
they feel a connotation with and that is okay because they are find themselve and that is the process
of connecting with a character. And not only that but also taking these characteristics and
applying them to their lives forever. The three fictional characters that most represent my
personality are Louise from Bob s Burgers because she lets her voice be heard in any shape or
form, Dina from Girls Trip for her wild being but also for her protect sided for the ones she cares
for, and Ponyo a Japanese character for her braveness from the unknown.
Even though Louise is the smallest one out of three siblings, she is the one who brings everyone

If a sender uses the stream paradigm and always sends 1024 bytes at a time, what size blocks can
the internet deliver to a receiver?
Stream paradigm does not implement any assurance for block sizes. So it is fully dependent on each
and every individual transfer.
2. If a sender wants to have copies of each data block being sent to three recipients,Which paradigm
should the sender choose?
In this case of multiple recipient transfer it is appropriate to use the message paradigm. This because
it allows multifold communication.
3. Give the general algorithm that a connection oriented system uses?
Algorithm for the connection oriented system
a) Setting up connection between two groups. b) Exchange information. c) Terminate the

Assessment Of Country Risk And Opportunities
Assessment of Country Risk Opportunities: UAE
FIN 410 02 Carlos Chuquin, Bryan Lopez, Bailey Martz
The UAE has one of the most diversified economies in the region. Abu Dhabi holds 90% of the
Federation s hydrocarbon reserves. A down side of that is that now the UAE is dependent on the
revenues Abu Dhabi can obtain from the reserves. On the other hand, the service industry in Dubai
has been booming, as Dubai has the 7th largest port in the world and has become the largest
business center in the region. Additionally, there seems to be political stability across the
Federation, which increases the chances of people doing business. There have been reports of the
lack of transparency of para public entities and businesses, which is something ... Show more

After the decrease on the price of oil, Abu Dhabi was the most affected, which made investing in
the oil industry a priority in order to make the price of oil go back up. Additionally, the decline of
the oil price caused the revenues to decrease, which created a public deficit for the country. The
government, however, is dealing with the weak budget revenues well as it has implemented a
reform of energy subsidies, deregulation of domestic hydrocarbon price, and finally, it has
increased the price in electricity and water.
In regards to the account balance, it will remain positive but its levels will be subpar compared
to previous years. The opening of the Iranian market this year will be highly beneficial, as it will
incentivize imports in both the oil and non oil industry. Non oil exports are 60% of the exports of
Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The increase of imports will lessen but it will remain stable, as the local
currency, the Emirati Dirham is pegged to the U.S. dollar which appreciated this year.
The beginning of the UAE s central bank can be traced to the the UAE Currency Board, which
was created in 1973 with the purpose of replacing the UAE s former currency, the Qatari Riyal.
During that period of time, the UAE Currency Board had no central banking powers, and its
focus was on UAE s currency, gold, and foreign exchange. All of that changed in 1980 when a law
was passed, which dissolved the UAE currency and created The Central Bank of the United Arab

An Analysis Of Hoch s Photomontage s Spirit Of Our Time
Hoch s photomontage was one of many collages that criticized the cultural staleness, depravity,
and decaying values of the German state. Through her depiction of German politicians and
technology in a state of chaos and confusion, she was effectively able to convince the German
people to reevaluate their faith in the government and current cultural values. She used the fast
advancing technology of the time (especially mass media) in also advancing her own goals of
sardonically criticizing the failings of the German state as well as pushing for gender equality.
The other Berlin Dadaist, Raoul Hausmann, created the combine, Spirit of Our Time:
Mechanical Head, to criticize the German public s dependence on tools and industry to think
and rationalize, stripping away what he perceived made us human (Crockett, 173). The title,
Spirit of Our Time, is a metaphor for the German people s inability to enact the change and
reform needed to rebuild a better Germany after the horrendous world war (Doherty, 82). The
wooden head represents current state of the German people whose extent of thought and logic
can only be experienced by the mechanical tools affixed to the outside of his head. The tools
attached to his head include a ruler and a tape ruler, a pocket watch, a jewelry box containing a
typewriter wheel, a telescopic beaker, and some brass knobs from a camera (artfactory.com). These
objects each have some significance to the thoughts that the wooden head is capable of

The Increasing Threat from Mercury in Our Aquatic Environment
Mercury contamination in aquatic environments is becoming an increasing threat to both wildlife
and humans (Peterson S. A., 2007). Organisms in the aquatic environment, particularly fish,
bioaccumulate methylmercury from contaminated water and food, but predominately from food
(Peterson S. A., 2007). Mercury in the atmosphereexists in three inorganic forms: gaseous elemental
mercury (GEM: Hg0), oxidized mercury typically called reactive gaseous mercury (RGM: Hg2+),
and particulate mercury (Hgp) (Hyun Deok Choi, 2008). Once emitted, mercury can be transformed
from one species to another via photoreduction, reactions with halides, and other oxidation
/reduction reactions (Hyun Deok Choi, 2008). Methylmercuryis the bioavailable form of mercury,
with well documented adverse effects (Rimmer, 2010). Methylated mercury is known to cause
adverse effects to wildlife and aquatic organisms. Methylmercury can have neurotoxic,
immunotoxic, and developmental effects on fish, birds, and mammals; top consumers may be at
elevated risk (Weir, 2010). Methylmercury is synthesized from inorganic mercury (Hg II) by
aquatic bacteria at oxic/anoxic boundaries such as sedimentwater interface of lakes and rivers
(Hurley JP, 1995). The degree to which an aquatic system is impacted by methylmercury
contamination is a function of a number of factors, including the rate of supply of atmospherically
derived Hg (II), the net rate of mercury methylation by aquatic, the efficiency of transport and

Joe Studwell s How Asia Works
In How Asia Works Success and Failure in the World s Most Dynamic Region, Joe Studwell
explores the East Asian developmental successes of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China by
challenging the prominent theory of developmental economics. He uses the same theory to
examine the lagging behind of Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Studwell
evaluates the performance of these economies by a recipe he has concocted in which he explains
as, an historical review of east Asian economic development shows that the recipe for success has
been as simple as one, two, three: household farming, export oriented manufacturing, and closely
controlled finance that supports these two sectors (Studwell 267). The first stage requires land

The successes are named as South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Malaysia and Thailand are
considered to be moderately performing, but lagging behind. Finally, he classifies the
Philippines and Indonesia as failures. The final section of the book is solely dedicated to China
as it presents a unique case. China has developmental characteristics that are similar to both the
successful countries of Northeast Asia as well as the poorer Southeastern Asian countries. China
has made great progresses and overcome great disasters. It has worked closely alongside the
World Bank and even receives technical support from it when needed. But not without paranoia,
which has actually caused China to prosper. Unlike the northeastern countries, Chinese peasants
do not own their own land as it is collectively owned and is not allowed to be sold under law. In
modern times, China s developmental plan is based off of recognizing the past failures associated
with state led growth, while allowing state companies to play an important role in its economy.
Also, foreign owned companies play a large role because other countries outsource their labor needs
to China because it is much cheaper. Overall, Studwell states that China s government has set the
stage for the enablement of rapid economic development. The author

Revenge Of The Sith
Dust off your Jedi robes, get out your plastic light saber, prepare your popcorn, and brace yourself
for the light speed paced adventure Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Inarguably, the Star Wars
franchise has been the most influential and most beloved saga ever. Unfortunately, director George
Lucas lost his magic touch when it came time to write and filmthe Revenge of the Sith. With stiff
writing and prepubescent acting it was impossible for the incredible visuals of laser blaster fire
and breathe taking scenery, as well as jaw dropping action sequences to save the film. One will
have to strain himself to endure watching this three hour movie, yearning for the days of old when
George Lucas didn t make these mistakes.
In the Revenge of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With its amazing CGI (computer generated images) effects and the awe inspiring sound track the
Renege of the Sith lives up to every viewers expectations. However, when it comes to the acting
and dialog every fan of Star Warshas been let down. The acting comes across as childish and like
it was for a 3rd rate movie rather than a blockbuster. Hayden Christensen is out of his depth
while acting for this film. He is simply inferior to the other actors staring in the film. He and
Natalie Porttman have no chemistry on camera. This is brutal to the film because their romance
is a crucial to the story plot and especial crucial to Anakin s final fate. With almost no prior acting
experience it perplexes the mind as to why he was cast as the lead role in a multi million dollar film.
The Revenge of the Sith is an average movie when all things are considered. Though its dialog
and character interactions are disparagingly done, its visuals and sound track make up for these
shortcomings. The film, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, gets a 6.5/10. While it is not a
particularly good film, it is a nice film to watch with the family. When it comes down to it, it is an
okay movie. However, it is not a proper way to end the Star Wars

Patient s Right And Self Determination Patient s Right to Self Determination This paper will examine how to recognize the extent to which a culture s structures and values may oppress, marginalize, alienate, create/enhance privilege and power, and how to recognize and manage personal values in a way that allows professional values to guide practice. St Augustine and classical education Essay Saint Augustine and Classical Education In Saint Augustine s deeply personal work, Confessions, he shares the story of his life up to his eventual conversion to the Christian faith. His odyssey through life is, at times, one of bitter inner conflict between his intellect and faith. Augustine s classical education had a profound affect on the way he viewed the world, and eventually had a major affect on the way he approached Christianity. He is definitely an intellectual Christian, and viewed many aspects of his faith from this perspective. In book five, Augustine spoke of this principle by comparing two men: A man who knows that he owns a tree and thanks you for the use he has of it, even though he does not know its exact height or the width of its spread, is better than another who measures it and counts all its branches, but neither owns it nor loves its Creator. In just the same way, a man who has faith in you has all the wealth of the world... (V, 95) It can be argued that his intellectual pursuits further complicated his conversion because he was tormented by certain philosophical questions that became obstacles to his ultimate goals. In his youth he was obsessed with counting all the branches, while never seeing the whole tree. At times Augustine asserted that his pursuit of worldly wisdom was in direct conflict with his journey towards God. What, then, was the value to me of my intelligence, which could take these subjects in its stride, and all those books, with their tangled problems, which I unraveled without the help of any human tutor, when in the doctrine of your love I was lost in the most hideous error and vast sacrilege? Through the centuries, women are seen as less valuable than their sexual counterparts, but time and time again, females have proven themselves as being just as intellectually capable as men. This concept is present in William Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, which is a tragic play demonstrating the effects of absolute power and corruption. The characters, especially the women, are heavily influential and greatly impactful in the growth of others. Lady Macbeth s actions greatly shape and develop the personality and motivations of Macbeth, leading to his ultimate demise. Although Duncan dies at the hand of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth plays a key role in manipulating him to complete the murder. Following the news that her husband will soon become king, Lady Macbeth realizes she does not want to wait. She wants to be queen as soon as possible and for Macbeth to be successful, but she is aware that Macbeth is not capable of killing King Duncan. Thus, Lady Macbeth takes it upon herself to convince her husband that killing the king is just, which is present in her soliloquy as she says, Hi thee hither, That I may pour my spirits in thine ear, And Chastise with the valour of my tongue All that impedes thee from the golden round, (1.4.24 27) Macbeth has the ambition for power. However, in this modern day and age, it is unquestionable easily accessed via the internet as technology has gotten better some countries are open about pornography while others ban it outright or only ban some pornography. In the United States only one type of pornography is banned and considered criminal currently and that is child pornography for logical viewpoint children can neither show nor give their consent. However, parents or guardians should dictate what their children are exposed to computers and televisions have blockers and so do cell phones and tablets which are a bit more difficult, but they not fully safe and can be circumvented in many ways. The most common is website names being misleading or the same or similar or close to the same as another website just a different ending notion .com .net .org et.al. Consequently, due to times changing sex education is not really taught in schools anymore and, it is hard to say how many parents still get involved with their child s sex education by having the sex talk or talk about pornography with their children or sexting. Sexting is a crime in many states if teens are involved as it falls under child pornography, but the way the law is written some states could push for teens that commit the sexting crime to be put on the juvenile sex offender list which is rather harsh punishment for participating in a foolish fad. Today television shows are evolving to be more inclusive both sexually and by nature to get the viewers because it keeps people s attention from adult shows and children s shows are coming around slowly Steven Universe on cartoon network is a great example of an inclusive children s show. This includes the last 1/4 of the duodenum and the entire area of the jejunum, ileum, colon, rectum, and anus1. This rectal bleeding may be overt or occult, and overt bleeding can be acute, massive or chronic. In patients who presents with gastrointestinal (GI) haemorrhage, about 20 33% are cases of Lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB). In Western countries the annual incidence of LGIB is about 20 27 cases per 100,000 population2. The investigators also found that most patients in the study (55.5%) presented with hematochezia, with the next most frequent presentations being maroon stools (16.7%) and melena (11%) 8. In another study that was done at National University Hospital of Iceland during 2010. In this study all patient who underwent colonoscopy were included, 1134 patients underwent 1275 colonoscopies. Overall, 163 patients had ALGIB. The crude incidence for ALGIB was 87/100 000 inhabitants/year. The most common findings were diverticulosis (23%) and ischemic colitis (16%) 3. In either case, two roles exist; educator and learner. Bastable (2014) adds that there are several aspects of the learner that must be assessed in order to competently achieve the educational goal. According to Toulmin (1969), a claim is a statement that you are asking the other person to accept. In other words, a claim is the statement being argued (Rottenberg Winchell, 2012). Toulmin (1969) defined data as the foundation of real persuasion and is made up of hard facts and highlight the reasoning behind the claim. Comparing Aristotle s formal syllogism, Toulmin s model highlights that logic is often based on probability rather than certainty and focuses on claims. It is also an effective instrument for writers; since writers can use Toulmin s model to check the logic of our own arguments. Toulmin model is also a more effective instrument for writers because it is very useful in reaching the how and why levels of the argument; since it allows writers to disintegrate an argument into its different parts (such as claim, data, and warrants) so that they can critically evaluate on how well the different parts work together. As a result, writers will be equip with the necessary skills in understanding and reacting to various conditions in order to support claim where it is weak, but also to understand the reasonable objections of people who see the world differently (Wood, ... The progress of human history near the common day is not a straight linear progression that hits abstract checkmarks of movements and revolutions, but it is a more complex study. The ability to look at the past and its developments is invaluable to see the developments play out and see how progress is a limited ideal. The past might be crystallized now in textbooks, but the people of the past did not have the future at their grasp to evaluate. The abridgement between time periods and movements are not times that we can consider as straight forward progressions, but times in their own right and merit. The luxury of looking back into the past is a convenience that allows the historian, student, or teacher to read into the times, but that convenience also draws lines where causes and effects were not as simple. The tendency to patch the new research into the old story even when the research in detail has altered the bearings of the whole subject is an effect of the convenience and discredits the past with comparisons to the present. The past is also held to a standard that keeps the present wondering on how this preceded it. When studying the past it is desirable to see one s time as superior and one that is pioneering the mantle of progress, but this is not so when the direction that follows is not a desired one such as Snow s description of the sciences where if the scientists have the future in their bones, then the traditional culture responds by wishing the future did not exist. I saw through the books I have read, ethnography makes these books become vivacious for a reader. In The Cosmic Race, by Jose Vasconcelos, he discusses throughout the book about numerous races and emphasizes that the fifth raceknown to be mestizo would overpower any race, and dominate the future. Although, throughout the book he argues reasons why one race would be on top of the pyramid, he contradicts himself numerous times in his arguments that leaves readers questioning, and a little confused. His writing style is somewhat jumbled that it takes time to grasp what he is trying to convey. Overall, it was a bizarre reading that it was hard to grasp his ideas, and had my mind in a labyrinth. First, Vasconcelos mentions these four main races; Mongols, blacks, whites, and Native Americans. Also, he states that Latin Americans have begun interracial relationships that have created the mestizo or a mixed race. • 29. Lao Tzu Oligarchies Throughout the time of recorded history, humans have had the natural desire for protection and order. That desire is where government comes in. There have been many forms of government throughout history, according to Aristotle, there have only been two types, oligarchies and democracies. Aristotle goes on to say that there are variations of these governments; for example, an aristocracy is considered to be an oligarchy where the wealthy land owners make the decisions in government. Later in that same paragraph, he states that a republic is a form of democracy; these are not the only variations of democracies and oligarchies as there are many variations of these two types of government along the spectrum (Aristotle 3). Societies all through history have one thing in common, they all had some form of government; This raises the question though, what is the difference between a good and bad government? Lao Tzu has an insight on the differences between a good and bad government in his philosophical writing, Thoughts from the Tao te Ching, where he states that a good government shall not make their people want, they should provide everything that their people need. He also states that wars cause chaos and a good leader would not wage war and sacrifice his or her people and be moral in their decisions (Tzu 19). Comparing Nisus And Euryalus In The Aeneid The story of Nisus and Euryalus in the Aeneid holds so many connections to the episode of Odysseus and Diomedes that there remains no doubt that the Iliad inspired Vergil s tale. In Book 10 of the Iliad, Agamemnon and Nestor send Odysseus and Diomedes into the Trojan camp in the middle of the night, where the two heroes slaughter more than a dozen sleeping men. In Book 9 of the Aeneid, Nisus and Euryalus volunteer to spy on the sleeping Rutulian camp to provide the Trojans with information on their enemies, killing a number of men in the process. Of course, the two stories end in drastically different ways. At first glance, the two episodes seem so similar in their beginnings that it is easy to overlook Vergil s message embedded in his story. His divergence from Homer s tale is a way of stating his ideas on the meaning of heroism and honor. The stories from both epics start in almost identical ways: two brave men set out to the enemy s camp in an attempt to collect information from the enemy. Upon closer review, however, it is apparent that the intentions of and relationships between the pairs are not quite the same. Summary Of The Marginal World By Rachel Carson Andrew Han 10/24/2015 TLIT 437: Nature and Environment in American Literature Ellen Bayer Conversation Essay As reading this journal the topic that has come to my attention is how a lot of these nature writers are looking at nature either as a positive or negative experience. Most of these shorts journals are looking at nature for not only for what it is, but what it offers, for example in the short The Marginal World written by Rachel Carsonshe portrays The Shore is an ancient world, for as long as there has been an earth and sea there has been this place of the meeting of land and water. And not only that but also taking these characteristics and applying them to their lives forever. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Louise from Bob s Burgers because she lets her voice be heard in any shape or form, Dina from Girls Trip for her wild being but also for her protect sided for the ones she cares for, and Ponyo a Japanese character for her braveness from the unknown. Even though Louise is the smallest one out of three siblings, she is the one who brings everyone together because she speaks her mind, and that does not mean that we don t share some of the same characteristics because we do since she speaks her mind just like me, without thinking sometimes. When Bob s Burgers started, Louise was the character that meant no harm when she spoke. For example, when her aunt came to her burger spot and started to complain about her appearance and about how she could not find love, Louise just told her to lose some ... Stream paradigm does not implement any assurance for block sizes. So it is fully dependent on each and every individual transfer. 2. If a sender wants to have copies of each data block being sent to three recipients,Which paradigm should the sender choose? In this case of multiple recipient transfer it is appropriate to use the message paradigm. This because it allows multifold communication. 3. Assessment Of Country Risk And Opportunities Assessment of Country Risk Opportunities: UAE FIN 410 02 Carlos Chuquin, Bryan Lopez, Bailey Martz The UAE has one of the most diversified economies in the region. Abu Dhabi holds 90% of the Federation s hydrocarbon reserves. A down side of that is that now the UAE is dependent on the revenues Abu Dhabi can obtain from the reserves. On the other hand, the service industry in Dubai has been booming, as Dubai has the 7th largest port in the world and has become the largest business center in the region. Additionally, there seems to be political stability across the Federation, which increases the chances of people doing business. There have been reports of the lack of transparency of para public entities and businesses, which is something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the decrease on the price of oil, Abu Dhabi was the most affected, which made investing in the oil industry a priority in order to make the price of oil go back up. Additionally, the decline of the oil price caused the revenues to decrease, which created a public deficit for the country. The government, however, is dealing with the weak budget revenues well as it has implemented a reform of energy subsidies, deregulation of domestic hydrocarbon price, and finally, it has increased the price in electricity and water. In regards to the account balance, it will remain positive but its levels will be subpar compared to previous years. The opening of the Iranian market this year will be highly beneficial, as it will incentivize imports in both the oil and non oil industry. Non oil exports are 60% of the exports of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The increase of imports will lessen but it will remain stable, as the local currency, the Emirati Dirham is pegged to the U.S. dollar which appreciated this year. The beginning of the UAE s central bank can be traced to the the UAE Currency Board, which was created in 1973 with the purpose of replacing the UAE s former currency, the Qatari Riyal. During that period of time, the UAE Currency Board had no central banking powers, and its focus was on UAE s currency, gold, and foreign exchange. All of that changed in 1980 when a law was passed, which dissolved the UAE currency and created The Central Bank of the United Arab ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. An Analysis Of Hoch s Photomontage s Spirit Of Our Time Hoch s photomontage was one of many collages that criticized the cultural staleness, depravity, and decaying values of the German state. Through her depiction of German politicians and technology in a state of chaos and confusion, she was effectively able to convince the German people to reevaluate their faith in the government and current cultural values. She used the fast advancing technology of the time (especially mass media) in also advancing her own goals of sardonically criticizing the failings of the German state as well as pushing for gender equality. The other Berlin Dadaist, Raoul Hausmann, created the combine, Spirit of Our Time: Mechanical Head, to criticize the German public s dependence on tools and industry to think and rationalize, stripping away what he perceived made us human (Crockett, 173). The title, Spirit of Our Time, is a metaphor for the German people s inability to enact the change and reform needed to rebuild a better Germany after the horrendous world war (Doherty, 82). The wooden head represents current state of the German people whose extent of thought and logic can only be experienced by the mechanical tools affixed to the outside of his head. The tools attached to his head include a ruler and a tape ruler, a pocket watch, a jewelry box containing a typewriter wheel, a telescopic beaker, and some brass knobs from a camera (artfactory.com). These objects each have some significance to the thoughts that the wooden head is capable of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Increasing Threat from Mercury in Our Aquatic Environment Mercury contamination in aquatic environments is becoming an increasing threat to both wildlife and humans (Peterson S. A., 2007). Organisms in the aquatic environment, particularly fish, bioaccumulate methylmercury from contaminated water and food, but predominately from food (Peterson S. A., 2007). Mercury in the atmosphereexists in three inorganic forms: gaseous elemental mercury (GEM: Hg0), oxidized mercury typically called reactive gaseous mercury (RGM: Hg2+), and particulate mercury (Hgp) (Hyun Deok Choi, 2008). Once emitted, mercury can be transformed from one species to another via photoreduction, reactions with halides, and other oxidation /reduction reactions (Hyun Deok Choi, 2008). Methylmercuryis the bioavailable form of mercury, with well documented adverse effects (Rimmer, 2010). Methylated mercury is known to cause adverse effects to wildlife and aquatic organisms. Methylmercury can have neurotoxic, immunotoxic, and developmental effects on fish, birds, and mammals; top consumers may be at elevated risk (Weir, 2010). Methylmercury is synthesized from inorganic mercury (Hg II) by aquatic bacteria at oxic/anoxic boundaries such as sedimentwater interface of lakes and rivers (Hurley JP, 1995). The degree to which an aquatic system is impacted by methylmercury contamination is a function of a number of factors, including the rate of supply of atmospherically derived Hg (II), the net rate of mercury methylation by aquatic, the efficiency of transport and ... Joe Studwell s How Asia Works In How Asia Works Success and Failure in the World s Most Dynamic Region, Joe Studwell explores the East Asian developmental successes of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China by challenging the prominent theory of developmental economics. He uses the same theory to examine the lagging behind of Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Studwell evaluates the performance of these economies by a recipe he has concocted in which he explains as, an historical review of east Asian economic development shows that the recipe for success has been as simple as one, two, three: household farming, export oriented manufacturing, and closely controlled finance that supports these two sectors (Studwell 267). Malaysia and Thailand are considered to be moderately performing, but lagging behind. Finally, he classifies the Philippines and Indonesia as failures. The final section of the book is solely dedicated to China as it presents a unique case. China has developmental characteristics that are similar to both the successful countries of Northeast Asia as well as the poorer Southeastern Asian countries. China has made great progresses and overcome great disasters. It has worked closely alongside the World Bank and even receives technical support from it when needed. But not without paranoia, which has actually caused China to prosper. Unlike the northeastern countries, Chinese peasants do not own their own land as it is collectively owned and is not allowed to be sold under law. In modern times, China s developmental plan is based off of recognizing the past failures associated with state led growth, while allowing state companies to play an important role in its economy. Also, foreign owned companies play a large role because other countries outsource their labor needs to China because it is much cheaper. Overall, Studwell states that China s government has set the stage for the enablement of rapid economic development. The author ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Inarguably, the Star Wars franchise has been the most influential and most beloved saga ever. Unfortunately, director George Lucas lost his magic touch when it came time to write and filmthe Revenge of the Sith. With stiff writing and prepubescent acting it was impossible for the incredible visuals of laser blaster fire and breathe taking scenery, as well as jaw dropping action sequences to save the film. One will have to strain himself to endure watching this three hour movie, yearning for the days of old when George Lucas didn t make these mistakes. In the Revenge of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With its amazing CGI (computer generated images) effects and the awe inspiring sound track the Renege of the Sith lives up to every viewers expectations. However, when it comes to the acting and dialog every fan of Star Warshas been let down. The acting comes across as childish and like it was for a 3rd rate movie rather than a blockbuster. Hayden Christensen is out of his depth while acting for this film. He is simply inferior to the other actors staring in the film. He and Natalie Porttman have no chemistry on camera. This is brutal to the film because their romance is a crucial to the story plot and especial crucial to Anakin s final fate. With almost no prior acting experience it perplexes the mind as to why he was cast as the lead role in a multi million dollar film. The Revenge of the Sith is an average movie when all things are considered. Though its dialog and character interactions are disparagingly done, its visuals and sound track make up for these shortcomings. The film, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, gets a 6.5/10. While it is not a particularly good film, it is a nice film to watch with the family. When it comes down to it, it is an okay movie. However, it is not a proper way to end the Star Wars ...
