The Horrors of War Exposed in Homer s Iliad
The Horrors of War Exposed in Homer s Iliad
There Harpalion charged Menelaus King Pylaemenes son
Who d followed his father into war at Troy
But he never reached his fatherland again.
He closed on Atrides, spear stabbing his shield
Right on the boss but the bronze could not drive through,
So back he drew to his ranks, dodging death, glancing
Left and right, fearing a lance would graze his flesh.
But Meriones caught him in full retreat, he let fly
With a bronze tipped arrow, hitting his right buttock
Up under the pelvic bone so the lance pierced the bladder.
He sank on the spot, hunched in his dear companion s arms,
Gasping his life out as he writhed along the ground
Like an earthworm stretched out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though Homer violates one of his mores by failing to glorify the death of young Harpalion, in
nearly every other way he maintains his traditional devices in recording his demise. Within the
passage, Harpalion undergoes a graphic death, much the same as many heroes and captains
undergo upon their introduction to the audience. He is pierced by an arrow, which slants upward,
virtually disemboweling him and causing him to instantly begin writhing in throes of agony. His
life blood oozes out slowly, as he undergoes bitter pain, and none of his comrades are able to do
more than watch helplessly. Harpalion takes a long time dying, and his father stands by weeping
as his lifeless body is hoisted onto a chariot bound for Ilium. This highly graphic and catharsis
inspiring death scene is further typified by the fact that Harpalion had received no previous
mention in the annals of Homer, and like so many of the heroes of the Trojan war is featured only
in the context of death.
Also located within the passage is one of Homer s epic similes, which are featured throughout the
poem, and are a central theme in all chapters and scenes.

Personal Statement Essay
People who know me typically find out pretty quickly that next to my passion for medicine, I am
actually one of the world s hugest computer geeks. In fact, when I first entered college, I toyed
with the idea of studying computer science before I realized that the study of the human body was
so much more exciting because it allows me to combine my fervor for computers and merge it with
my interest in medicine.
Once I began medical school, I started to see the human body like the hardware of a computer
system. For example, the nervous system the midbrain is the CPU and the cortex acts as RAM.
The spinal cord acts as the motherboard, creating a system for impulses to travel back and forth.
The eyes and ears act like the mouse and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once that diagnosis has been hypothesized, appropriate treatment acts as the debugging phase. If a
treatment plan is not working, then another diagnosis needs to be developed. A patient s objective
is fulfilled when the appropriate illness has been revealed and eliminated.
With the ability and appreciation for contemplating a particular pathway from my computer science
background, I found the task of organizing a patient s multiple complaints into a particular
pathology to be most fascinating. This obsession has sparked anticipation to specialize in
endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. Similar to how a computer algorithm may flow from one
level down to the next, the endocrine system involves a delicate system of hormones in the
hypothalamic pituitary axis. Any disruption in the pathway resulted in a symptomatic change that
can be elicited from the patient. The objective simply becomes identifying these symptoms and
associating it with the appropriate disruption in the pathway.
Methodical thinking has also helped me to comprehend the careful equilibrium of the body s
metabolism. I used to be one who paid very little attention to my own health, especially when I
was more focused on a particular activity. By the time I had reached my second year of medical
school, I noticed my weight had increased to about 210 pounds. With a height of 69 inches, my
BMI was 31 and I was categorized as obese. While studying

Carnaval Em Madureira
Carnaval em Madureira
Most obviously, Tarsila spotlights the black and brown skin tones of Carnaval em Madureira s
figures to say that positive emotions exist in Brazilian communities of color. Many viewers might
be predisposed to assume that favela neighborhoods are frustrating places to live, with high
unemployment and brutal racial profiling of local residents by military police. However, Carnaval s
figures work together on daily activities with heads held high and not a frown in sight. As Fatima
Brecht claims, Tarsila has figures of humans...inhabit th[is] scene...[to] express...Afro Brazilian
vernacular culture to viewers. With this painting s vibrantly colored skin tones and active bodies,
Tarsila shows that favela residents might feel proud to live in this working class area.
Furthermore, the piece lacks harsh negative social criticism towards the aforementioned favela
inequalities. Here, Tarsila tells foreign viewers that Brazilian people of color should not be

Using the structure s mechanical basket feature, the favela residents standing on the ground can
receive flowers from the top of the tower. This feature communicates to viewers that modern
technology can help beautiful natural objects to circulate in even the most supposedly destitute
neighborhoods. Regarding the edifice s towerlike design, state critics said that it [was] curious to
see that [Tarsila] placed the famous Eiffel Tower in the Rio de Janeiro favela. Essentially, Tarsila
erected a Western style landmark to say that modern industry had arrived in the favela, yet local
people appreciated that it offered them local flora instead of dull grey material. Consequently,
Tarsila featured the tower in Carnaval em Madureira to suggest that industrialization could co exist

Leadership and Coach Norman Dale
Hoosiers
There are several leadership styles represented in the film Hoosiers. This movie brings two different
concepts called transactional leadership and transformational leadership. Transactional leadership
styles are more concerned with maintaining the normal flow of operations, whereas a
transformational leader goes beyond managing the daily tasks for leading their followers to success.
Transactional leadership styles also include trying to establish direction, aligning people, they are
dedicated to communication, creating teams, motivation and inspiration. A transformational
leadership styles basically turn towards to creating the agenda and requests, they are dedicated to
planning, policies and procedures. The leader s job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way that Coach Norman Dale encouraged confidence in his followers was by keeping
them focused on their present task and familiarizing each one of them with their particular job
on the court. It is important to mention some of the characters such as Jimmy, the shooter, and
the teacher (Myra Fleeter). Jimmy is one of the best players in the team but he rejects to play
with new coach. Therefore, coach needs to find a way to bring him back to the team. He uses
reverse psychology in the situation when he explains Jimmy that team is all of them, not just
him . Here coach shows expert power because he uses prior knowledge probably from previous
situations in his life. When we talk about the shooter and his relationship with the coach, we can
say that coach chooses the shooter for his assistant for several reasons. Firs of all, the shooter
knows a lot about basketball so he shows the expert power. Also, Coach Dale gives him another
chance because people deserve another chance . Also, some other people have previously put
their trust in him by giving him, Coach Dale, a second chance. In the case of Myra Fleener, it
can be said that she displays a very autocratic leadership style. She attempts to lead Coach
Norman Dale with a firm hand with very little input. She pretends to ignore and put off what the
coach has to say, but towards the end of the film she takes Norman s side and adjusts her
leadership style to a more democratic view. She agrees with the coach that

What Are The Importance Of Countries Around The World
Every once in a while we come across facts that change our perspective of the world. One such
fact is the existence of countries which when put together can probably cover half of the area of
some cities from the rest of the large countries around the globe. These countries, like most
countries, have their own set of laws, governance, cultures and picturesque locales.
1.Vatican City.
Spread across an area of 110 acres, the Vatican City is a country within the city of Rome. With a
population of 1,000, the country is the smallest, not just in terms of area but also population. The
centre of the Catholic Church, this country supports its economy by the sale of mementos, postage

4.Tuvalu.
Formerly known as the Ellice Islands, Tuvalu is a Polynesian island nation located in the Pacific
Ocean. The total land area of the islands of Tuvalu is 26 square kilometres and has a population of
10,640. The country was once a British territory but became independent in 1978. Tourism is not
very significant due to the location of the island. In 2010, less than 2,000 visitors came to Tuvalu,
with 65% of them coming for business. The official languages are Tuvaluan and English.
5.San Marino.
The Republic of San Marino, also known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino is an
enclaved microstate surrounded by Italy, situated on the Italian Peninsula on the north eastern side
of the Apennine Mountains. Its size is just over 61 square kilometres with a population of 33,
562. It is said to be the oldest surviving sovereign state in the world, and is also one of the
wealthiest in terms of GDP per capita. The country s economy mainly relies on finance, industry,
services and tourism.
6.Liechtenstein.
The Principality of Liechtenstein is a doubly landlocked German speaking microstate in Central
Europe. It has an area of just over 160 square kilometres and an estimated population of 37,000. It
is an alpine country and mainly mountainous, making it a winter sport destination. Tourism makes
up for a large part of the country s economy.

Implementing The Millennium Development Goals
Considering the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) faced major criticism, the pressure lies
on the post 2015 development goals to provide a new and efficient set of criteria for global
development. The MDGs were perceived as limited and incomplete, and while there is a more
extensive list of SGDs, they remain vague. Once gain the goals are high achieving and unattainable
within a 15 year span. Although the world has succeeded in significantly reducing poverty, since
the creation of the Millennium Development goals, the world remains a highly unequal place on
many levels. The global goals seem to be put in place simply as guidelines in that they are
announced world wide to gain uniformity in our developmentpriorities however actually attaining
them is not expected. To put things into perspective, the fight to mediate issues such as the right
for women to vote, social equality for people of colour and same sex marriage took decades to
accomplish and at that, the cases are not perfect. These are issues that do not require resources
such as food or infrastructure to resolve. By contrast, the SDGs comprise a range of issues that
require technology, natural resources, money, infrastructure, and more to be resolved. There are
many negative critiques on the goals outlining why the global goals are not complete and although
I believe they are not attainable within 15 years, I would like to outline what we can do to best
focus on the goals. The post 2015

A Systematic Search Of The Database Psycinfo
Investigatory Design A systematic search of the database PsycINFO was conducted, as this
research repository is considered the leading scholarly file of research in the social and
behavioral sciences worldwide. Table 1 presents the volume of reference citations regarding
drawing tests indexed in PsycINFO. This output illustrates that 73% of all references have
appeared since 1989 (614 of 840 citations) based on Total output; for journal references (69%),
for books (88%), for dissertations (89%). Based on this analysis there has been no decline on the
volume of research on drawing techniques evident in journal publications or books over the past
decade. Table 2 summarizes survey findings of both academic and applied settings on training
emphasis andusage of drawing techniques since 1989. This analysis includes the 60 published
studies that were identified in journal publications, based on clinician/practitioner and academic
/trainingsamples, although the vast majority of the data pool is based on research conducted in
the USA. Findings Of note, 2 caveats are in order: First, survey results are almost always based
only on those respondents who use tests or based on official clinical records;hence, many studies
report data on less than 50% of sample surveyed due to a high percentage of non responders. Thus,
in the aggregate, individual tests may be popular , but only within the parameters of professionals
who rely on tests in assessment. Second, an individual test s ranking is

Third-Degree Assault
Sometimes, arguments between people in Greeley, and throughout Colorado, may become physical.
Depending on the circumstances, those involved in physical confrontations with others may be
charged with assault. A serious criminal offense, being convicted of this crime could carry severe
penalties with lasting implications.
Colorado state law establishes three variations of assault offenses third degree, second degree and
first degree assault. Each of these charges has differing levels of severity and carry different
penalties for a conviction.
Third degree assault
The least severe of the assault variations is assault in the third degree. According to the Boulder
County Bar Association, people may be accused of third degree assault if they knowingly,
negligently or recklessly cause others to suffer injuries using deadly weapons. Additionally,
causing a law enforcement officer, firefighter or emergency medical service worker to come into
contact with certain bodily or hazardous fluids may also qualify as third degree assault.
Under most circumstances, third degree assault is a class one misdemeanor. As an extraordinary
risk crime, people may be subject to enhanced penalties if convicted of this crime. Colorado state
law stipulates that those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

their lawful duties. People who are legally being held in jail or prison and use violent force against
detention facility employees, law enforcement officers, firefighters, court officers or judges may

cash from sales) and external sources of finance from outside the business (e.g. a bank loan).
There is a need of external financing for the expansion through acquisition. External financing is
a good source of raising money besides internal funds. As per business finance, external
financing can take the shape of two different types of financing, debt or equity. Debt financing
includes bank loans where a company gets financed by issuing debentures which they have to
pay back after a certain period of time. It is called debt financing because the company is in debt
to the bond holders and if they were to go bankrupt, the bond holders would have claim to any
remaining assets. In this case these are secured business loans. Equity financing is when a
company decides to give up ownership in the company to raise funds. This is usually done by
selling company stock to investors. Sometimes this could include seeking out angel investors or
venture capitalists. If you are expecting to get external financing through equity financing make
sure that your business has a product or service that is unique, and that there is a high demand for
your product or service. Most venture capital investors or even angel investors will not look at an
offer unless they see a large growth potential. (2)

Art Briles Case Study
It s a crazy world that we live in.
So crazy, in fact, that even when a coach turns a blind eye while a massive sexual assault scandal
implodes the very program he helped turn into a national powerhouse, is still considered one of the
premiere coaching candidates in college football.
Art Briles, the soon to be 61 year old former Baylor Head Coach is looking for work. His entire
life, both playing and coaching has been spent in the state of Texas, dating back to his playing days
from 1974 1977 for Houston. Since then, Briles has worked his way through the ranks to a 99 65
record, as well as becoming one of the best talent developers in the entire country.

Since 2013, Briles compiled some pretty impressive recruiting classes given the state of Baylor as a
less attractive version of the Texas Longhorns. Respectively, Baylor ranked 41st, 36th, 26th, and
27th from 2013 2016 according to 247Sports. In that same span, Malzahn managed the 10th, 8th,
6th, and 9th best recruiting classes in the country.
The kicker between the two class rankings is what was done with them. From 2013 2016, Briles
compiled a 32 7 record at Baylor, while Malzahn was 28 15 with a 13 12 SEC record as mentioned
before. In conference, Baylor was 22 5 under Briles from 2013 2016. One thing Briles knows how
to do is win inside his conference, something Malzahn has struggled with mightily since taking over
for the Tigers.
If Malzahn does lose his job at Auburn, and Briles is considered, it may just be the best move the
Tigers could make from a football standpoint. If you re looking at the media scrutiny and off field
issues Briles brings with him, then it makes no sense at all. Briles is a public relations disaster
right now, but could soon begin repairing his image through speaking and apologizing if he even
remotely hears or feels that he s in the running for major coaching

The Laptop Market Is A Thoroughly Saturated One
The laptop market is a thoroughly saturated one. The range of uses of a laptop today is quite
diverse. The low end being the Chromebook and netbooks, an ultra light and ultra portable PC.
These devices are used for surfing the web and some light word processing. Then we have the
high end, being the enthusiast laptops; Asus ROG and MSI have cornered the market in this
group. They are not so portable and are generally heavier machines, but are the best of the best for
on the go hardcore performance. This laptop, the Eluktronics P670RP, was designed for the top of

When compare to Asus, a much more established company, they pale in comparison. The color
theme of the logo is a quite dismal looking yellow and black. One could safely assume they don t
expect many consumers to visit the site based solely on this poor presentation. There is no
excuse for any company, whose best selling product comes in just under a thousand dollars, to
have such a disappointing website. Even still amongst the amalgamation of gray and light gray,
there is a reprieve. Their products are well organized on the site and rightfully so; they had to get
it right somewhere. They offer a fairly large range of laptops for different budgets. Among their
proprietary offerings, they have some third party products as well. One might think this may be
the path chosen to obtain the capital for the Deleware based company in a market so thoroughly
glutted with overseas based companies. It begs the question, however, if more time and
resources were spent on presentation and advertising would they not show better sales? When
searching for a laptop a decision must be made on the use case. This decision will be directly
related to the components needed for the laptop. Someone looking to just browse the internet need

An Essay About Michelangelo
Michelangelo was born in March, 1475 in Caprese. He was an Italian painter, sculptor, architect,
and poet. He is one of the biggest contributors to the development of Western art today. He was
also called the divine one and The Renaissance Man . Michelangelo s ancestors before that were
small time bankers. The bank that his family was working with failed and his father had to get a
temporary governmental job. A couple of months after Michelangelowas born, his family moved
back to Florence, Italy. His mother was ill for a long time and died in 1481 when Michelangelo
was just six. He then went to go live his nanny and her husband who was a stonecutter in
Settignano. Michelangelo began to admire marble in Settignano because his father owned a marble

Michelangelo was constantly distracted by other tasks. This caused Michelangelo to go from
finishing it in five years to him taking a whole forty years. Michelangelo was never satisfied with
it though, and he never did get to finish it to his full satisfaction. The tomb is mostly known for its

such as a push for state accreditation in California during the late 1970s, aided the pushed for
national accreditation. This is just a brief history of how CACREP was developed though
agreements with existing accreditation programs, multiple professional and political maneuvers,
and a determination to further develop the counseling discipline (Sweeney, 1992).
CACREP s first meeting was held in September 1981 and the organization adopted the ACES
standards as the first set of standards for CACREP (Bobby, 2013). By 1986, CACREP had
received several requests to include specialty standards, CACREP created a policy that stated
standard revisions would occur on a scheduled basis. The purpose of this new policy was to
organize the review and implementation of new or revised standards as well as provide time for
the CACREP Board to review the validity and reliability of current requirements and processes. In
May 1987, CACREP presented its new standards and has continuously added

Juvenile Crimes Face Harsh Punishments
There are serious flaws with the way the US judicial system prosecutes juveniles. Although there is
a juvenile court system in place to try youth offenders, the way it is being implemented is different
between each state. In addition, some states even go further and try youth offenders, depending on
the crimethey committed, in an adult criminal court. In recent years, juvenile crimes face harsh
punishments in the US, and the number of juvenile offenders sent to youth courts is decreasing,
based on the data ( The Sentencing Project Juvenile Justice, 2015). This decline of cases being
sent to the juvenile courts indicates that more cases of youth crime are being transferred to adult
courts. Trying a child as an adult contradicts to UN s rights of the child as listed on FACT SHEET:
A summary of the rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child (p.1 4), which shows that
by transferring a child to an adult correction facility, we are denying that child of his/her rights.
A child has a limited understanding of how the world functions. It is difficult for a child to
distinguish right from wrong. Therefore, it would be common sense to try a child, under the age
of 18, differently than an adult, with some exceptions being made to frequent offenders and very
serious crimes. But that is not the way it is being implemented in the US. There are three ways a
youth offender can be transferred from a juvenile court to an adult court in the US. Brink (2004)

Similarities And Differences Between Socialism And Socialism
Socialism
Socialism is a economic and political system in which the means of production operate under public
political ownership, sometimes called common ownership. Common ownership under socialism
may take shape through technocratic, oligarchic, totalitarian, democratic or even voluntary rule. All
legal production and distribution decisions are made by the ruling class.
Historical examples of socialist countries include the Nazi Germany and Soviet Union. Today s
examples include Venezuela, Cuba and China. Due to its practical challenges and poor track
record, socialism is sometimes referred to as a utopian or post scarcity system, although modern
adherents believe it could work if properly implemented.
A slogan for socialism is from each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government should not interfere in the economies of the free market, meaning, the market
determines investments, production, distribution and decisions, and government interference is
only allowed when making and enforcing rules or policies governing the conduct of business.
There is a need for continual production and purchase for a capitalistic economy to operate
efficiently, and Capitalists believe that government does not use economic resources as efficiently
as private enterprise.
Differences between Capitalism and Socialism
1.The economic system, in which the trade and industry are owned and controlled by private
individuals is known as Capitalism. Socialism, on the other hand, is also an economic system,
where the economic activities are owned and regulated by the state itself.
2.The basis of capitalism is the principal of individual rights, whereas socialism is based on the
principle of equality.
3.Capitalism encourages innovation and individual goals while Socialism promotes equality and

Buffalo Bill Thesis
The wild west was time in which people really started heading towards the west of the U.S. They
headed to the west because they wanted land and money. The west was starting to populate and
getting popular the little towns started to grow bigger and bigger. Eventually some of these
overpopulated towns became ghost towns because people started to move in the cities. The
wild west started roughly around 1840s with the rise of the Gold rush, Manifest Destiny, and the
Homestead act. During this time a lot of people were either looking for land in the west because of
the Homestead act or they were looking for gold during the gold rush. William Frederick Cody was
born west of the Mississippi River near LeClaire, Iowa, on February 26, 1846. He would... Show

of Cody s children would survive him. In 1904 Cody sued Louisa for divorce claiming she had
attempted to poison him. When Buffalo Bill was 8 years old he moved to kansas with his family.
Since the Homestead act was in full effect his family wanted to move to get land and have a better
life. When he was 12 years old he was working for a wagon train headed to Fort Laramie,
Wyoming; the next year, he participated in the gold rush to Colorado; and at 15, he reportedly rode
for the Pony Express. He also was part of the Civil War but only a little bit towards the end. Buffalo
Bill opened his own wild west show when he was 37 years old. At age 11 his father died and
because of this as a young boy his family did not have a lot of money. When his father died in
1857, his mother moved to Kansas, where Cody worked for a wagon freight company as a
mounted messenger and wrangler. In 1859, he tried his luck as a prospector in the Pikes Peak
gold rush, and the next year, joined the Pony Express, which had advertised for skinny, expert
riders willing to risk death daily. In 1867 68 he was hunter

Imagination; a Human s Special Sence Essay

Imagination: A Human s Special Sense
Human beings have the ability to create their own individual worlds through imagination.
However, the imagination is limited because of the constant use of technology and the reliance on
vision. The technological culture has separated humans from the actual world and their senses;
much like vision has done. In the essay The Eyes of the Skin: Architecture and the Senses , Juhani
Pallasmaa focuses on the exploration of the senses and how they interact with one another. We also
see his discussion on how vision can affect the human experience. The more visually capable we
are, the more we begin to lose our sense of imagination. Similarly in the essay ... Show more content

We see that our imagination comes into play when our vision is obscured. Without the sense of
vision, our other senses quickly assume richness and power. This occurs to blind people such as
Hull, who at the age of forty eight became completely blind. Sacks states that Hull speaks of how
the sound of the rain, never before accorded much attention, can now delineate a whole landscape
for him...it throws a coloured blanket over previously invisible things (304). In other words, we
see that Sacks is showing us how strong Hull s imagination was after becoming blind. Just
because Hull became blind, it did not mean that Hull s life was over. On the other hand, it was a
new beginning for Hull. He was able to make use of his other senses and see how important they
are. With Hull s imagination also came a sense of intimacy with his surroundings. He felt as
though with his strong visual imagery, he had a strong sense of closeness, which evolves from
imagining. The term delineate has a significant meaning in Sack s text because imagination is what
led Hull to be able to portray the images precisely in his mind. Similarly, Pallasmaa states, anyone
who has half woken up to the sound of a train or an ambulance in a nocturnal city, and though his
/her sleep experienced the space of the city with its countless inhabitants scattered within its
structures, knows the

Extreme Sports Not About Risk Taking Study
A wise person once said, The proper function of man is to live, not exist. I shall not waste my
days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time. This quote explains that we should not waste
our time and actually do something worth living for. That we should use the time we have to do
or become something, instead of wasting it. We should use this in our life just like how extreme
sports athletes did. The only difference is that their path is riskier than ours because they do many
dangerous activities such as Base Jumping, Cave Diving, and BMX. Extreme sports are a good
idea because you get to be in the moment and feel the rush, but you should take some precautions
because it can be very dangerous.
One reason why extreme sports should be participated in is because many people find their
motivations and motives of life in it. In Extreme Sports Not About Risk taking: Study ... Show

Yet again, there is no singular answer, but it may be rooted in traditional perspectives of women
s health. Until very recently, women s bodies had been perceived as analogous to those of men,
aside from reproduction, and therefore they did not merit study. It was not until 1993 that
women were even included in medical trials. The uniqueness of individuals was completely
overlooked, despite the impact of individual experiences have on every aspect of health
(Goldstein, 2002). Meanwhile, women s reproductive health has been viewed in western
medicine as difficult and described as natural abnormal. (Wiley, 2009). It is clear that this stems
from male domination in the biomedical field over the years it is a sort of ethnocentrism of the
sexes. Women s health has been medicalized for years, from hysteria to premenstrual syndrome.
Because these syndromes do not appear worldwide, it appears that they are cultural constructs
developed to explain women s bodies in a way that medical science can easily understand. Even the
mundane of women s health is treated medically: menstruation is regularly described in negative
terms, focusing upon the associated problems; the experience of pregnancy has become
increasingly medicalized, with extensive testing, hospitalization, and surgery; and menopause is
treated as a disease of aging, with hot flashes being described as an estrogen

Children s Ethical Reasoning Correlate With Their Moral...
In the study conducted by Baird and Astington (2004), their purpose of their two studies was to
answer two questions. The first question was asking when do children mentally understand an
individual s actions and how that child considers that individual s beliefs, desires, and intentions.
The second question was whether and how children s motivated based moral reasoning correlates
with their moral behavior.
In study one, the researchers wanted to address whether children can evaluate identical actions
differently when considering another person s motivation. The children s ages range from four,
five, and seven years old. Each participant heard six stories and the two characters in each story
performed identical actions, but each person had a different motivation for performing the action.
The two characters in the story had two different kinds of moral quality, one having a good motive
and the other having a bad motive. The researchers were interested in seeing how the participants
would differentiate between the good and bad motives the characters had in each story. The
researchers measured the participant s moral judgement in two ways, the first being the act
evaluation measure and the second being the punishment measure. The act evaluation measure

Adversity In The Glass Castle, Art Spiegelman, And Mother...
Throughout the literary works of The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Maus by Art Spiegelman,
and Mother to Son by Langston Hughes, different characters deal with adversity differently. In The
Glass Castle the characters must overcome family hardships. Likewise, Spiegelman writes about his
father s struggle during the Holocaust. Lastly, in Motherto Son the speaker informs her son about
her own hardships she had to face. Challenges that characters face can impact them both negatively
and positively. Characters from all three literary works deal with adversity by having courage,
being resilient, and making poor choices. The quality of courage helps the characters overcome

Examples Of Propaganda In Augustus Of Primaporta
Throughout history, propaganda has been used as a means to spread a political message. Shown
above are two different examples of propaganda, each from a different time period and society. On
the left is Augustus of Primaporta, a marble statue carved in Rome during the 1st century C.E. To
the right is Chairman Mao en Route to Anayan, an oil on canvas painted by Liu Chunhua in the
People s Republic of China during 1967. While seemingly distinct in visual appearance, both pieces
incorporate similar aspects from society that contribute to the overall intent. Each piece implements
certain elements from society that are considered to be idealized, resulting in an almost god like
representation of their respective leader. As the first emperor of Rome, Augustus sought to
demonstrate his military and physical strength. In Augustus of Primaporta, he is portrayed as
muscular and commanding, with his hand outstretched as if he is addressing his troops. Then,
shown to his right is a dolphin, symbolizing his recent naval victory at the Battle of Actium.
However, due to the differences between societies, Mao chose to be depicted as wise rather than
strong. Directly before Mao en Route to Anayan was created, Mao launched the Great Proletarian

Describe How The Design Of Respiratory System Facilitates...
DESCRIBE HOW THE DESIGN OF RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FACILITATES GAS
EXCHANGE?
SID:
Process of respiration involves supply of oxygen to blood cells (oxygen intake) and excretion of
carbon dioxide and other waste (CO2 excretion). Purified blood is carried to all parts of the body
by blood vessels in order to achieve gaseous exchange at cell level. This process is carried out
through a complex system called Respiratory System. Organs which comprise respiratory system
include mouth, nasal passage, glottis, trachea, larynx, pharynx, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli and
last but not the least lungs.
In the following lines, we ll discuss in details how the structures of respiratory system accomplish
exchange of gases.
The upper respiratory tract comprises those organs that bring the air in and lower respiratory tract
comprises those parts that process the air. Upper respiratory tract starts from the nose and the
mouth. They enable the air to enter through external nares (nostrils). Behind the nostrils there are
little shelves of bone called nasal conchae (superior, middle and inferior). They divide the nasal
cavity into thin passages called meatuses. (Jahangir, 2015). Surface areas of nasal conchae creates
turbulence, forcing the air to get bounced in the nasal cavity and increase the surface area of these
cavities, thus allowing the mucus to trap the dirt, bacteria and enable only warm, clean and moist
air as it passes down to the lungs. (Rogers, 2012)

Young Men s Interpretation of fashion According to Frith and Gleeson, men choose fashion trends
that help them to manipulate their appearances in order to meet cultural masculine ideals.
Generally, men believe that masculinity entails not caring about how they look (2004). However,
they also seem to be concerned with meeting a cultural ideal with their fashion choices. Frith and
Gleeson found that men made conscious fashion choices to either hide or emphasize certain body
parts in order to attain what they perceived as the ideal body image. In addition, it appears that men
value practicality over aesthetic (Frith Gleeson, 2004). Similarly, Galilee discovered that despite the
theory of the masculinization of consumption (the idea that in recent years, men are increasingly
being viewed as consumers), young men viewed an interest in fashion and consumption as lacking
masculinity (2002). Galilee found that young men are unlikely to admit an interest in fashion
magazines because they viewed an interest in fashion as not masculine. Nonetheless, young men
appeared to utilize fashion to highlight their individuality as well as their collective identity with
their peers (2002). The results from his interviews suggest that young men often admit to

The First Homeric Hymn Of Aphrodite
The first Homeric Hymn of Aphrodite tells the story of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love,
desire, and beauty. She is the daughter of Zeus and highly regarded among both immortals and
mortal men. The story recounts the power that Aphrodite possesses as well as the limitations of her
power. One limitation this hymn primarily focuses on is a situation in which Aphrodite is
humiliated. This myth utilizes strategies such as story structure and word choice in order to
describe how Aphrodite is humiliated.
The structure of a myth is imperative to understanding the sequence of a story. In this hymn, the
structure begins with discussing Aphrodite s beauty from lines 1 to 29. The remainder of the myth
discuss the situation that embarrasses Aphrodite. Already, the amount of time spent discussing both
perspectives of Aphrodite s narrative indicates that the story of her humiliation outweighs her
power. Additionally, the order in which the narrative is presented affects how each perspective is
received. Aphrodite s power is built up in the beginning of the narrative; she taught earthly men the
fashioning of chariots (7) and received a good share of honor (18) from her father Zeus. All of this is
outweighed when the hymn recounts the humiliation of Aphrodite where Zeus sent sweet desire

We Should Not Take Technology And Computer s Usefulness...
We should not take technology and computer s usefulness for granted. Billions of people use
computers every day, yet only a fraction have the patience to understand what they are doing. Or,
the actual consequences of their actions and in turn cause problems for themselves and others. As a
result the same precautions that are made to protect themselves are not applied when using a
computer. More people need to treat these computers as tools that can be used to make our lives
and the world better even if the world is changing, for better or worse. As such, people must
learn what a computer is to recognize it, what these computers need to stay maintained, and how,
as an individual, people must take control of their technology to bring themselves into the
modern world. Computers are defined in the Webster dictionary as a programmable usually
electronic device that can store, retrieve, and process data. These could be anything from as
small as calculators to cabinets the size of buildings. They are well established into the daily
lives of most of the people in the world, if you tried to avoid computers entirely you would find it

Within the trash sample I analyzed there were around 234 items thrown away within a week s
period. Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live
in the dwelling that the sample was taken in. Some examples of items thrown away in pairs include,
Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and
paper towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over
three times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often
include Green Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there
are six plastic ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their
lunch to work or school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church
bulletins, and church offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to
church once the week they took their trash sample. Another interesting item thrown away was an
old Tommy Hilfiger brand shirt. The members of this household make enough money to throw
away old clothes, suggesting that they live comfortably. We also can tell what bank they use

Male Privilege Analysis
2.Privilege can mean different things depending on whom you ask. So, with its various
associations, should we be using the word privilege in feminist discussions of WGS? After careful
consideration, I would argue that, yes, it should. In fact, rather than a new word, we need further
education about the feminist definition of privilege.
In her piece White Privilege and Male Privilege Peggy, McIntosh defines white privilege as an
invisible package of unearned assets that I can count on cashing in each day, but about which I
was meant to remain oblivious...like an invisible weightless knapsack of special provisions . In
using the term privilege as WGS scholars define it, one then begins to realize and look for the
invisible instances of exercised privilege in one s own life. McIntosh does this in her article,
metaphorically unpacking the [invisible knapsack] ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is essential because it is through unpacking these individual acts and experiences that we can
begin to realize the larger institutionalized systems of power that are at play, a major advantage of
the word privilege and its meaning. For instance, McIntosh observes, I can, if I wish, arrange to be
in the company of people of my race most of the time. This specific realization then implies that
there are people who cannot make such arrangements, who do not have this specific unearned
asset . In turn, we can begin to see the inherent relationship between privilege and oppression,
another advantage of the term privilege and its meaning. Indeed, Launius and Hassel define
privilege as benefits, advantages, and power that accrue to members of a dominant group as a
result of the oppression of the marginalized group. If WGS scholars were to define privilege
without acknowledging oppression, they would be

offers many hidden meanings within their stories, Suburban and Homecoming are no different
offering two distinct takes on the meaning of life. Whether that be shown through war, or a
Sunday morning after a long night out, both poems convey the emotions of life, both positively
and negatively. Homecoming by Bruce Dawe describes the homecoming of dead Australian
Soldiers from the Vietnamese War, (lines 2 3). The poem has its poet expressing his opinions on
man s response to wars and how vital human life is, the soldier need to be brought home and the
brutality and futility of wars between the human s race. In contrast, Suburban, by David Malouf,
expresses to the reader the facade of modern suburbia, lukewarm residency clouded by public
idealism and picket fences. Suburban suggests similar themes of masked anxieties by apparent
political or social orders, which is clearly expressed through the way Malouf describes modern
suburbia; as dull and emotionless. Homecoming directly contrasts this and describes a chaotic and
destructive, this is demonstrated through the entirety of the poem, poetic

Tennessee Williams Research Paper
Tennessee Williams was born Thomas Lanier Williams, on the 26th of March, 1911 in Columbus,
Mississippi and was the second of three children to Cornelius and Edwina Williams. Tennessee
recalls his father as a womanizing alcoholic , and his mother to be overbearing, sexually repressed
and mentally disturbed, and believed there have been too many instances of extreme eccentricity
and even lunacy in my family. Tennessee Williamshad a younger brother named Dakin and an
older sister Rose, who he loved more dearly than anyone. Rose was diagnosed with Schizophrenia,
and spent most of her life in mental institutions following a prefrontal lobotomy as authorized by
Edwina. Rose was his muse, and the haunting inspiration for many of his female... Show more

The 1960 s proved to be tumultuous. Williams hit a creative and emotional collapse, and became
depressed, disillusioned and addicted to prescriptive drugs, and in 1969, his brother Dakin
admitted him to the psychiatric ward at Barnes Hospital in Saint Louis for three months, to
which Williams called a snake pit . After dismissal he started writing again in an attempt to
reclaim fame, however a deep paranoia set in which alienated him from loved ones. After more
poor reviews, he turned back to alcohol, amphetamines and sedatives as a means of coping. Lyle
Leverich believes that, the greatest indignity Williams was made to suffer in his last years was
seeing his reputation as a playwright tarnished by his dissolution . On the 24th of February in
1983, Williams was found dead in his room of Hotel ElysГ©e, New York, where it was later
believed that he had choked on a prescription bottle cap. Tennessee Williams remains one of the
most exciting and articulate American dramatists who, according to renowned literary critic Stark
Young, was a poetic innovator who refused to be confined to the usual sterilities of our playwriting
patterns . Williams was widely acknowledged as being ahead of his time, with a

Comparing Prometheus And Atlas
Many a few have heard of Atlas, the almighty titan. After the gods of olympus, led by Zeus
defeated the titans, Atlas was charged to eternally bear the weight of the world on his shoulders.
To be a bit more specific, Atlas was mandated to keep apart the heavens and the Earth. This was the
predicament of a number of titans at the hands of Zeusand the other Gods. For example, Prometheus
, creator of the Earth is tortured eternally. Every Day, a murderous phoenix attacks him and steals
his liver, and everyday, his liver grows back so that he suffers the pain each and every day. Well,
both Prometheus and Atlas helped our beloved heroHercules with his 12 labors. His eleventh labor
was to retrieve some golden apples from the Garden of Hesperides. However, this garden was
protected by a powerful fire breathing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hercules was well aware of this and tried to find help. He was told by a group of Nymphs to find
Prometheus. They said that if Hercules were to kill the Eagle that returned everyday to torture
Prometheus, he would in return tell him how to complete his task. So, Hercules set off to find
Prometheus. After slaying the murderous bird, Hercules was informed that Atlas was his best
chance at procuring some golden apples. So Hercules again set off in search of Atlas. Hercules
struck a deal with Atlas. It basically said that Hercules would bear the burden of Atlas for a short
while, meanwhile Atlas would enter the garden and get the apples for Hercules. After Atlas had
successfully made it back with the apples, he told Hercules that he would just take them to
Eurystheus himself. Hercules slyly agreed, but asked if Atlas could hold it long enough for
Hercules to place some padding on his shoulders to help with the load. But Hercules took the
apples and ran without looking back and returned to Eurystheus with the apples prepared to tackle
his final labor before he was accepted into Olympus as a God. And Atlas was left to bear the weight
of the heavens forever in

Companies are required to satisfy the customer by providing appropriate services and value added
for customers. A strong commitment to quality service and customer oriented is a major
prerequisite in supporting business success. Implementation of the upcoming open sky policy, all
international airlines that had allowed only airlines serving the route point to point in Indonesia,
such as; Lufhansa, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines will be able to freely serve the domestic
flight routes directly to become a threat that must be anticipated by the national airline industry in
Indonesia through the creation of competitive advantage. International airlines have a good
competitive advantage and very concerned about the quality of service and customer satisfaction
and supported by various recent fleet average age of no more than 7 years. Form a highly
preferred service is the ease of check in, comfortable waiting room arrival and departure, transfer,
seat cabin, cabin cleaning, supply dipesawat food, entertainment and services in the aircraft cabin
(Angkasa no.8, XIII in May 2003, p. 30 32). Quality of services provided is the most important
parameters in determining the ranking of the Reputation Quotient (RQ) and will affect the
competitiveness of each airline in the implementation era of open sky policy.

Vanadyl Sulfate Lab Report
The experimental started out with the synthesis of VIVO(acac)2. The vanadyl sulfate was
dissolve in distilled water and mixed with acetylacetone, which gave a dark blue solution. From
the reaction, sulfate anion was present in the solution, which could react with water in the
solution to make the acid, hydrogen sulfate. Therefore, the acid had to be neutralized with sodium
bicarbonate. Upon adding sodium bicarbonate, the reaction bubbled releasing CO2 gas and the
solution slightly increased to a lighter blue color. Upon completion of the reaction, the greenish
blue precipitate was vacuum filtered and weighed. A mass of 0.4194g of VIVO(acac)2 with a
percent yield of 24.8%. The percent yield was low, but that was most likely due to not allowing...

A third sample of zinc acetate dihydrate was used for benchtop magnetic susceptibility. By using
the data from Table 1, the experimental magnet moment (Вµeff) was calculation using the
equations in Appendix A. In the order of zinc acetate dihydrate, VIVO(acac)2 and FeIII(acac)3,
the respective magnet moments were determined to be 2.96, 1.20 and 4.73. The data agrees with
what would be expected looking at the electronic states of the metal atoms. Vanadium is in the D5
group of the period table so it is had five unpaired electrons in the D orbital. Since experimentally
V(IV) is produced, that means vanadium has a positive four oxidation state reducing its unpaired
electrons in the D orbital to one. For iron, it is in the D8 group and has a positive three oxidation
state so it has a total of five unpaired electrons in its D orbital. Zinc is in the D10 group and is in the
ground state, where all its electrons are paired. Since the magnetic susceptibility is measuring the
number of unpaired electrons reacting with a magnetic field, the results demonstrate that by an
increase in magnetic moments with the increase in the number of unpaired electrons. The only
discrepancy with the data is that the two water molecules in the zinc acetate dihydrate wasn t
accounted for in determining magnetic susceptibility. The magnetic moment of zinc acetate
dihydrate was higher than

  • 2. The Horrors of War Exposed in Homer s Iliad The Horrors of War Exposed in Homer s Iliad There Harpalion charged Menelaus King Pylaemenes son Who d followed his father into war at Troy But he never reached his fatherland again. He closed on Atrides, spear stabbing his shield Right on the boss but the bronze could not drive through, So back he drew to his ranks, dodging death, glancing Left and right, fearing a lance would graze his flesh. But Meriones caught him in full retreat, he let fly With a bronze tipped arrow, hitting his right buttock Up under the pelvic bone so the lance pierced the bladder. He sank on the spot, hunched in his dear companion s arms, Gasping his life out as he writhed along the ground Like an earthworm stretched out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though Homer violates one of his mores by failing to glorify the death of young Harpalion, in nearly every other way he maintains his traditional devices in recording his demise. Within the passage, Harpalion undergoes a graphic death, much the same as many heroes and captains undergo upon their introduction to the audience. He is pierced by an arrow, which slants upward, virtually disemboweling him and causing him to instantly begin writhing in throes of agony. His life blood oozes out slowly, as he undergoes bitter pain, and none of his comrades are able to do more than watch helplessly. Harpalion takes a long time dying, and his father stands by weeping as his lifeless body is hoisted onto a chariot bound for Ilium. This highly graphic and catharsis inspiring death scene is further typified by the fact that Harpalion had received no previous mention in the annals of Homer, and like so many of the heroes of the Trojan war is featured only

In fact, when I first entered college, I toyed with the idea of studying computer science before I realized that the study of the human body was so much more exciting because it allows me to combine my fervor for computers and merge it with my interest in medicine. Once I began medical school, I started to see the human body like the hardware of a computer system. For example, the nervous system the midbrain is the CPU and the cortex acts as RAM. It is important to mention some of the characters such as Jimmy, the shooter, and the teacher (Myra Fleeter). Jimmy is one of the best players in the team but he rejects to play with new coach. Therefore, coach needs to find a way to bring him back to the team. He uses reverse psychology in the situation when he explains Jimmy that team is all of them, not just him . Here coach shows expert power because he uses prior knowledge probably from previous situations in his life. When we talk about the shooter and his relationship with the coach, we can say that coach chooses the shooter for his assistant for several reasons. Firs of all, the shooter knows a lot about basketball so he shows the expert power. Also, Coach Dale gives him another chance because people deserve another chance . Also, some other people have previously put their trust in him by giving him, Coach Dale, a second chance. In the case of Myra Fleener, it can be said that she displays a very autocratic leadership style. She attempts to lead Coach Norman Dale with a firm hand with very little input. There is a need of external financing for the expansion through acquisition. External financing is a good source of raising money besides internal funds. As per business finance, external financing can take the shape of two different types of financing, debt or equity. Debt financing includes bank loans where a company gets financed by issuing debentures which they have to pay back after a certain period of time. It is called debt financing because the company is in debt to the bond holders and if they were to go bankrupt, the bond holders would have claim to any remaining assets. In this case these are secured business loans. Equity financing is when a company decides to give up ownership in the company to raise funds. This is usually done by selling company stock to investors. Sometimes this could include seeking out angel investors or venture capitalists. If you are expecting to get external financing through equity financing make sure that your business has a product or service that is unique, and that there is a high demand for your product or service. • 22. Juvenile Crimes Face Harsh Punishments There are serious flaws with the way the US judicial system prosecutes juveniles. Although there is a juvenile court system in place to try youth offenders, the way it is being implemented is different between each state. In addition, some states even go further and try youth offenders, depending on the crimethey committed, in an adult criminal court. In recent years, juvenile crimes face harsh punishments in the US, and the number of juvenile offenders sent to youth courts is decreasing, based on the data ( The Sentencing Project Juvenile Justice, 2015). This decline of cases being sent to the juvenile courts indicates that more cases of youth crime are being transferred to adult courts. Trying a child as an adult contradicts to UN s rights of the child as listed on FACT SHEET: A summary of the rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child (p.1 4), which shows that by transferring a child to an adult correction facility, we are denying that child of his/her rights. A child has a limited understanding of how the world functions. It is difficult for a child to distinguish right from wrong. Therefore, it would be common sense to try a child, under the age of 18, differently than an adult, with some exceptions being made to frequent offenders and very serious crimes. Imagination; a Human s Special Sence Essay Daimaly Gines 10/25/12 FD #3 Expos, Section Imagination: A Human s Special Sense Human beings have the ability to create their own individual worlds through imagination. However, the imagination is limited because of the constant use of technology and the reliance on vision. The technological culture has separated humans from the actual world and their senses; much like vision has done. In the essay The Eyes of the Skin: Architecture and the Senses , Juhani Pallasmaa focuses on the exploration of the senses and how they interact with one another. We also see his discussion on how vision can affect the human experience. The more visually capable we are, the more we begin to lose our sense of imagination. Similarly in the essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We see that our imagination comes into play when our vision is obscured. Without the sense of vision, our other senses quickly assume richness and power. This occurs to blind people such as Hull, who at the age of forty eight became completely blind. Sacks states that Hull speaks of how the sound of the rain, never before accorded much attention, can now delineate a whole landscape for him...it throws a coloured blanket over previously invisible things (304). In other words, we see that Sacks is showing us how strong Hull s imagination was after becoming blind. Just because Hull became blind, it did not mean that Hull s life was over. On the other hand, it was a new beginning for Hull. He was able to make use of his other senses and see how important they are. With Hull s imagination also came a sense of intimacy with his surroundings. He felt as though with his strong visual imagery, he had a strong sense of closeness, which evolves from imagining. The term delineate has a significant meaning in Sack s text because imagination is what led Hull to be able to portray the images precisely in his mind. Similarly, Pallasmaa states, anyone who has half woken up to the sound of a train or an ambulance in a nocturnal city, and though his /her sleep experienced the space of the city with its countless inhabitants scattered within its structures, knows the ... This quote explains that we should not waste our time and actually do something worth living for. That we should use the time we have to do or become something, instead of wasting it. We should use this in our life just like how extreme sports athletes did. The only difference is that their path is riskier than ours because they do many dangerous activities such as Base Jumping, Cave Diving, and BMX. Extreme sports are a good idea because you get to be in the moment and feel the rush, but you should take some precautions because it can be very dangerous. Until very recently, women s bodies had been perceived as analogous to those of men, aside from reproduction, and therefore they did not merit study. It was not until 1993 that women were even included in medical trials. The uniqueness of individuals was completely overlooked, despite the impact of individual experiences have on every aspect of health (Goldstein, 2002). Meanwhile, women s reproductive health has been viewed in western medicine as difficult and described as natural abnormal. (Wiley, 2009). It is clear that this stems from male domination in the biomedical field over the years it is a sort of ethnocentrism of the sexes. Women s health has been medicalized for years, from hysteria to premenstrual syndrome. Because these syndromes do not appear worldwide, it appears that they are cultural constructs developed to explain women s bodies in a way that medical science can easily understand. Even the mundane of women s health is treated medically: menstruation is regularly described in negative terms, focusing upon the associated problems; the experience of pregnancy has become increasingly medicalized, with extensive testing, hospitalization, and surgery; and menopause is treated as a disease of aging, with hot flashes being described as an estrogen ... The first question was asking when do children mentally understand an individual s actions and how that child considers that individual s beliefs, desires, and intentions. The second question was whether and how children s motivated based moral reasoning correlates with their moral behavior. In study one, the researchers wanted to address whether children can evaluate identical actions differently when considering another person s motivation. The children s ages range from four, five, and seven years old. Each participant heard six stories and the two characters in each story performed identical actions, but each person had a different motivation for performing the action. • 33. Describe How The Design Of Respiratory System Facilitates... DESCRIBE HOW THE DESIGN OF RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FACILITATES GAS EXCHANGE? SID: Process of respiration involves supply of oxygen to blood cells (oxygen intake) and excretion of carbon dioxide and other waste (CO2 excretion). Purified blood is carried to all parts of the body by blood vessels in order to achieve gaseous exchange at cell level. This process is carried out through a complex system called Respiratory System. Organs which comprise respiratory system include mouth, nasal passage, glottis, trachea, larynx, pharynx, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli and last but not the least lungs. In the following lines, we ll discuss in details how the structures of respiratory system accomplish exchange of gases. The upper respiratory tract comprises those organs that bring the air in and lower respiratory tract comprises those parts that process the air. Upper respiratory tract starts from the nose and the mouth. They enable the air to enter through external nares (nostrils). Behind the nostrils there are little shelves of bone called nasal conchae (superior, middle and inferior). They divide the nasal cavity into thin passages called meatuses. (Jahangir, 2015). Surface areas of nasal conchae creates turbulence, forcing the air to get bounced in the nasal cavity and increase the surface area of these cavities, thus allowing the mucus to trap the dirt, bacteria and enable only warm, clean and moist air as it passes down to the lungs. Young Men s Interpretation of fashion According to Frith and Gleeson, men choose fashion trends that help them to manipulate their appearances in order to meet cultural masculine ideals. Generally, men believe that masculinity entails not caring about how they look (2004). However, they also seem to be concerned with meeting a cultural ideal with their fashion choices. Frith and Gleeson found that men made conscious fashion choices to either hide or emphasize certain body parts in order to attain what they perceived as the ideal body image. In addition, it appears that men value practicality over aesthetic (Frith Gleeson, 2004). She is the daughter of Zeus and highly regarded among both immortals and mortal men. The story recounts the power that Aphrodite possesses as well as the limitations of her power. One limitation this hymn primarily focuses on is a situation in which Aphrodite is humiliated. This myth utilizes strategies such as story structure and word choice in order to describe how Aphrodite is humiliated. The structure of a myth is imperative to understanding the sequence of a story. In this hymn, the structure begins with discussing Aphrodite s beauty from lines 1 to 29. The remainder of the myth discuss the situation that embarrasses Aphrodite. Already, the amount of time spent discussing both perspectives of Aphrodite s narrative indicates that the story of her humiliation outweighs her power. Additionally, the order in which the narrative is presented affects how each perspective is received. Aphrodite s power is built up in the beginning of the narrative; she taught earthly men the fashioning of chariots (7) and received a good share of honor (18) from her father Zeus. So, with its various associations, should we be using the word privilege in feminist discussions of WGS? After careful consideration, I would argue that, yes, it should. Poetry offers many hidden meanings within their stories, Suburban and Homecoming are no different offering two distinct takes on the meaning of life. Implementation of the upcoming open sky policy, all international airlines that had allowed only airlines serving the route point to point in Indonesia, such as; Lufhansa, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines will be able to freely serve the domestic flight routes directly to become a threat that must be anticipated by the national airline industry in Indonesia through the creation of competitive advantage. International airlines have a good competitive advantage and very concerned about the quality of service and customer satisfaction and supported by various recent fleet average age of no more than 7 years. Form a highly preferred service is the ease of check in, comfortable waiting room arrival and departure, transfer, seat cabin, cabin cleaning, supply dipesawat food, entertainment and services in the aircraft cabin (Angkasa no.8, XIII in May 2003, p. 30 32). Quality of services provided is the most important parameters in determining the ranking of the Reputation Quotient (RQ) and will affect the competitiveness of each airline in the implementation era of open sky policy. • 45. Vanadyl Sulfate Lab Report The experimental started out with the synthesis of VIVO(acac)2. The vanadyl sulfate was dissolve in distilled water and mixed with acetylacetone, which gave a dark blue solution. From the reaction, sulfate anion was present in the solution, which could react with water in the solution to make the acid, hydrogen sulfate. Therefore, the acid had to be neutralized with sodium bicarbonate. Upon adding sodium bicarbonate, the reaction bubbled releasing CO2 gas and the solution slightly increased to a lighter blue color. Upon completion of the reaction, the greenish blue precipitate was vacuum filtered and weighed. A mass of 0.4194g of VIVO(acac)2 with a percent yield of 24.8%. The percent yield was low, but that was most likely due to not allowing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A third sample of zinc acetate dihydrate was used for benchtop magnetic susceptibility. By using the data from Table 1, the experimental magnet moment (Вµeff) was calculation using the equations in Appendix A. In the order of zinc acetate dihydrate, VIVO(acac)2 and FeIII(acac)3, the respective magnet moments were determined to be 2.96, 1.20 and 4.73. The data agrees with what would be expected looking at the electronic states of the metal atoms. Vanadium is in the D5 group of the period table so it is had five unpaired electrons in the D orbital. Since experimentally V(IV) is produced, that means vanadium has a positive four oxidation state reducing its unpaired electrons in the D orbital to one. For iron, it is in the D8 group and has a positive three oxidation state so it has a total of five unpaired electrons in its D orbital. Zinc is in the D10 group and is in the ground state, where all its electrons are paired. Since the magnetic susceptibility is measuring the number of unpaired electrons reacting with a magnetic field, the results demonstrate that by an increase in magnetic moments with the increase in the number of unpaired electrons. The only discrepancy with the data is that the two water molecules in the zinc acetate dihydrate wasn t accounted for in determining magnetic susceptibility. The magnetic moment of zinc acetate dihydrate was higher than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
