Social Observation Of The Southlands Mall In Centennial
Social Observations I decided to go the Southlands Mall in Centennial, to observe people
interactions. I choose to head over to the mall around 11 am on Friday, September 15th. This
was a great time for me because my son was in school and I knew I needed at least two hours
where I could just sit and observe people without any distractions. When I was observing, I was
looking for norms of behavior and American values. To Begin, let me give you a visual of the
mall. The Southlands mall is a large outdoor mall that s filled with shops, diners and
entertainment. I thought I would sit near Town Square which is in the center of the mall. I
could see majority of the store from here. There were a lot of mothers out watching their
children play in the water fountain and at the park. Norms are how values tell us to behave
(Conley, 2017, pg. 90). They are like rules or guideline to what kind of behavior is acceptable.
Norms can be informal or formal. Informal norms are unspoken for example, as I observed my
surroundings I saw children taking turns going down the slide. I also saw families standing in line
getting Pretzels. These are norms that are not written down but we learn them when we are young.
Informal norms are viewed as what is right verses what is rude. Formal norms are written down
like laws.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I looked around I noticed all the expensive cars that were coming and going and parked along
the stores. Expensive cars can represent ones success. Another example of this shown through the
number of mothers that are out with their children. They have the leisure of enjoying a sunny
afternoon with their kids. People seem to use material possessions for comfort or to compete
with others. I saw women wearing Coach and Michael Kors bags. People were walking around on
their IPhones, which we all know these items are not cheap. I also saw tons of women leaving
stores with lots

A Laboratory Report on Body Composition
This is a laboratory report on measuring body composition. The aim of the laboratory report was
to compare two different field methods skinfolds and bioimpedance analysis to measure body
composition and evaluate the most reliable doubly indirect method to measure body
composition. A number of studies such as Kitano,T have shown a strong correlation between
skinfold and bioelectrical impedance analysis and tend to have an average body fat difference
of less than 0.6. Body composition is a combination of numerous components these are: Fat
mass, fat free mass, Adipose tissue mass, Lean body mass and relative body fat. Fat mass is
defined as all the extractable lipids from adipose and other tissue. Fat free mass is all the left over
chemicals and tissues, including water, muscle, bone, connective tissue and internal organs.
Adipose tissue mass are connective tissue that work as the major storage site for fat. Lean body
mass is everything in the body apart from body fat. Lean body mass includes organs, blood, bones,
muscles and skin. Relative body fat is the ratio between fat mass and total body mass. Body
composition is measured in many ways. Anthropometry refers to human body composition
measurement. The most accurate and direct form of measuring body composition is cadaver
dissection which involves dissecting a dead human body and determining the fat percentage. In
vivo or indirect, doubly indirect methods do not measure body composition directly, however

Hepatitis B
Page 2 Hepatitis B is a potentially life threatening liver infection caused by the virus HBV. A
Hepatitis B infection could potentially become a chronic disease for some people because they
run the risk of developing liver failure, cirrhosis of the liver or liver cancer if precautions are not
taken. Cirrhosiscauses permanent scarring to the liver. Some adults that have become infected with
Hepatitis Bdo fully recover even if their symptoms are relentless. Symptoms can be mild to more
severe and can be very unpleasant. These symptoms typically appear one to four months after a
person has been infected and this is when symptoms will begin. Symptoms include abdominal pain,
fever, joint pain, dark urine, loss of appetite,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If someone s liver has been severely damaged by the virus, a liver transplant may be an option.
Research on this disease continues and more drugs to treat the infections are being developed.
Getting the Hepatitis B vaccination is a sure way in preventing infection, and taking precautions is
important to follow to keep yourself safe. It is important to understand that a person cannot
contract Hepatitis B from the vaccination, but can surely contract the virus by having
unprotected sex. Precautions include wearing a condom either latex or polyurethane, paying
extra special attention to where you would go if you want to get a tattoo or piercing by making
sure they adequately sterilize their equipment. Other ways to stop the spread of the Hepatitis B
are that if a person comes in contact with blood or bodily fluids, it is very important that they
wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water and discard any type of soiled clothing or
items into a bag. Another thing to help prevent the spread of the virus is by cleaning blood and
body fluids off surfaces by using a diluted bleach solution. If a person plans on traveling to an
area that has a high rate of Hepatitis B, they should talk to their doctor about getting vaccinated
which is a series of three to four shots over the course of a six month period. The consequences of
people not taking precautions and steps to keep

Private Peaceful Essay
Charlie and Tommo are the main characters of the novel Private Peaceful, written by Michael
Morpurgo. The boys head off in search of their great adventure, spending time training in the
Salisbury Plains, England and in Etaples, France. Life in the training camps was a complete new
experience from their normal day to day life in rural England. The training camps are very strict,
they are run by Sergeant Hanley. Everything in the training camps was in lines, straight and
organised. We see this when Tommo explains that we lived every moment of every day together,
and usually in lines. We lined up together for shaves, for food, for inspections. Even when we dug
trenches, they had to be in lines, straight trenches with straight edges. Life

Southwest Airlines Case
Southwest Airlines Case Study
1. Company Overview
Southwest airlines began in 1967 as a low cost, low fare, customer friendly air service shuttling
passengers between San Antonio, Dallas and Houston, Texas. Founded by Rollin King and Herb
Kelleher, Southwest moved from a small commuter transport of 18 round trip flights within Texas
to a bustling market share leader providing more domestic flights than any other airline within the
industry. Within two years of its first flight the airline was able to report profits in a trend that has
continued since 1973, despite industry downturns, economic recessions and intense rivalry attacks.
No longer the quirky underdog, Southwest has established itself as the low fare, low cost industry ...

Emily Grierson s Resistance To Change
In this southern setting after the Civil War, Faulkner exposes the theme of resistance to change.
A Rose for Emily is an assessment of the way some people deal with vicissitudes in their lives.
Miss Emily Grierson who always subsisted under her father s wings, displays serious issues after
his death. The story begins with the end of Emily s life. Poor Emily s sentimental clutter and
grotesque demeanor bring pity on her character. Some may argue that she was just misunderstood,
others may see in her a psychologically unbalanced person, and that her attitude was simply a way
of crying out loud for help. In any cases, Emily appears to be someone that the common mortal
would feel compassion for, enough to deposit flowers on her grave. Her inability

Screws- Different Types and Their Uses

SCREWS
Introduction
A screw, or bolt, is a type of fastener characterized by a helical ridge, known as an external thread or
just thread, wrapped around a cylinder. Some screw threads are designed to mate with a
complementary thread, known as an internal thread, often in the form of a nut or an object that has
the internal thread formed into it. Other screw threads are designed to cut a helical groove in a
softer material as the screw is inserted. The most common uses of screws are to hold objects
together and to position objects.

Music Concert Review
Music has been around for centuries and has taken many, unique forms over the past hundreds of
years. Every culture, big or small, has their own different style of music. Music has evolved to
become a fundamental constituent of human life. I have been to many different instrumental
performances, but this was my first concertthat I attended since I have been at LSU. The setting of
this event was that it was located at the Union Theatre, and it started at 7:30 pm. The Union
Theatre was an amazing venue. I walked through the front doors and into the lobby of the theatre,
where a person was waiting in the box office to take my money and give me a ticket. When I
received by ticket, I was handed a program and went inside the theatre. The theatre... Show more

The first family of instruments was the percussion section. This family caught my attention because
I used to play percussion in high school. They also caught my attention because this family
emphasizes and sets the rhythm of the piece. I really enjoyed the xylophone instrument during this
concert because the xylophone brought out the melodies in each piece. Another family of
instruments that caught my attention was the low brass section. I enjoyed this when the intense
moment of a song came on because the low brass instruments emphasized the dark moments of the
intense sections of each song. This emphasis brought out strong emotions out of me towards the
songs. There were 5 guest conductors during this concert, but each one had their unique style of
conducting their songs. All five conductors wore tuxedos with a white bowtie. When the
conductor approached his podium, the band was stomping their feet to applaud him. He
approached his podium and bowed to everyone. These conductors pointed at a certain family of
instruments during a part of a song to emphasize those instruments to play louder, or softer. The
conductors also raised their hands when they wanted the band to perform a louder dynamic
change, or lower their hands when they wanted the band to perform a quitter dynamic change. I
was really impressed about how the band had a lot of respect for the conductor. The band followed

The Ascent Of Money Summary
In The Ascent of Money Niall Ferguson gives an in depth historical look at money and finance. He
begins with ancient banking practices in ancient Mesopotamia, and finishes his book with his
predictions for the near future based on patterns that he sees. In the book he discusses the rise of
money and credit; the bondmarket; the stock market; insurance; real estate; and international
finance.
Niall Fergusson believes that finance and money was made as a necessity for urbanization and
development, but that every time there has been an international globalized system set up, that it
results in disaster. There has always been trade between people from different areas, but when it is
on a massive global scale it results in disaster. His premise is that the first true globalized economy
led to WWI, and that the United States is headed for a military showdown with China.
In the first chapter titled Dreams of Avarice: the Rise of Money and Credit discusses the origins
of money and credit and how it has come to help shape the modern economy. Fergusson says that
money had its origins in Mesopotamia as clay tablets which were recording transactions such as
for agrarian. He also says that credit was given by a Mesopotamian family to people as far away
as in Persia in order to purchase homes. I thought that that was very interesting. He then goes on to
say that the early Christians were not allowed to practice interest or usury, but Jewish law allowed
for the Jews to give loans to

Robert Frost Metaphors
Robert Frost is a poet who typically writes poems of saddened tone with losses being a
significantly recurring motif. After seeing his wife and four children die before him for various
reasons and unsuccessfully attempting several endeavors, Frost lived this life of depression, which
he translated into many of his poems such as Goodbye and Keep Cold, Dust of Snow, Oven Bird,
and Nothing Gold Can Stay. Throughout his poems, Frost utilizes various rhetorical strategies, such
as metaphors and allusions to present the theme that one must learn to treasure his or her valuables
and loved ones while they still exist. Outside of his poetry, Frost had a profound passion for
growing apples. In Goodbye and Keep Cold, Robert Frostdiscusses the safety... Show more content

When an orchard is located near the outskirts of a large farm property, the farmer probably does
not preserve it as proficiently as he or she would with the trees closer to the heart of the farm.
The speaker s orchard lies at the edge of the dark... so young in the bark... at the end of the farm
(1,2,4). The physical location that the speaker describes sounds as though the speaker has
forgotten or rejected the orchard at a young age, or has almost disowned it, as Richard Poirer
puts it in his critical essay, On Goodbye and Keep Cold. Furthermore, the statement at the edge
of the dark implies that the speaker is interacting with the orchard late at night when it is dark
and cold as if he or she had other important business outside of the orchard during the day; the
speaker waited for a later time to deal with the orchard. With that being said, Frost wants his
readers to believe that this is an absurd ideal to keep an orchard which provides fruit for those
living in the farm out in the distance. This relates to Frost s theme that one must learn to treasure
his or her belongings while they still exist. If the speaker continues to reject the orchard, the
orchard will not continue to bear fruit for the speaker. This also pertains to Frost s extended
metaphor that relates to the death of his daughter. Out of experience, Frost indirectly informs his
readers that it is wise for one to treasure his or her valuables and loved ones as they still

Competitive Advantage And Competitive Advantages
With the breakneck advancements in today s market, having sustainable competitive advantage has
become imperative so as to survive. The metamorphosis of technology has made the job further
challenging to have a competitive advantage and sustain it. Competitive advantage is defined as an
idiosyncratic lead a firm has over its fellow challengers and emulators. This lead enables the firm to
vanquish its challenger. In other words it is something that distinguishes an organization from the
competitors. For a competitive advantage to be sustainable, the firm has create value creating
products or services that cannot be mirrored or matched by its fellow competitors and thereby it
will able to outlast for a longer period of time (Bharadwaj, S, Varadarajan, P, Fahy, J 1993)
Sustainable competitive advantage entirely depends on how an organization performs in a
competitive environment. In order to sustain and consolidate the company s position, innovation
becomes crucial. Companies should be in a position to embrace the changes in order to be abreast
of the competition and hold its position (Daniela, P ,2014). Apart from innovation, the internal and
the external forces along with the knowledge managementform the vital factors. For an organization
to gain the competitive advantage and sustain it, it has to innovate and globalize the vital factors
mentioned.

The Fifa World Cup Event
The FIFA World Cup, as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world that comes around
every four years, is often assumed by potential host countries as highly profitable. Current research,
however, suggests that the economic growth experienced by these host nations due to the World
Cup event is lower than the expectations they had. Specifically, a number of economists assert that
no observable short termeconomic growth exists within the tourism, retailing, accommodation, and
employment sectors of each one of the host countries (Allmers Maennig, 2009). As for the long
term impacts, some scholars insist that the World Cup cannot boost the four sectors listed above
(Baumann, Robert, Bryan Engelhardt, and Victor A. Matheson 2012), while others argue that other
beneficial factors, that do not affect the host countries in the short term, generate economic profits
for host countries in the long term (Maennig, 2009). Some scholars even critique this claim,
however, arguing that the new factors won t bring profits to host countries.
In my opinion, the World Cup seems to give the allusion that it will benefit the economy right away
in the short run, but this not necessarily true. On the other hand it is beneficial to the host countries
and the international economy in the long run, assuming that different factors are considered in the
long term analysis. These factors include the novelty effect of new stadiums, the feel good effect
on citizens, and the World Cup s effect

Scandal. President Nixon was the 37th President of the United States and served two terms. He

Eleanor B. Leacock
Within anthropology there are two main schools of thought. These different views shape the
philosophies of anthropologist who are classified as materialist, idealist, or falling in between. The
materialist approach focuses on positivistic knowledge and empirical truths. Materialists use
science and material elements within society to explain the basis for human culture and life; they
consider anthropology one of the sciences. On the other hand, idealists consider anthropology one
of the humanities. Idealists view culture and behavior as a pattern of interpretation of beliefs and

Leacock s approach to anthropology stemmed from materialist theories, but her ethnographical
works were a detailed mix, which focused on historical processes. In Women s Status in Egalitarian
Society: Implications for Social Revolution, She argues that ethnographies presented on the topic
were misguided due to their ahistorical approach, ethnocentric perspectives concerning social
economic notions attributed to Western societies, and the oversight of the effects of capitalism.
Leacock claims taking a historical approach when analyzing women s status in egalitarian band
societies will lead to a less oppressed view of women s standing. She rejects the idea that women
s roles are submissive and subservient to men, pointing out they are assumptions that ...both derive
from and perpetuate a view of such society as merely an incipient form of our own (Moore, 2009,
p.246). Leacock points to the lack of evidence in research stating that, Women are commonly stated

Ruth Landes Objiwai Women ; women of the same society are initially portrayed to be self
sufficient and independent , but later are described as inferior to men, unskilled, and dependent on
men. In this piece Leacock concludes that ahistorical approaches do not correctly describe women s

the background of the cult group Aum Shinrikyo, now known as the group Aleph, and several other

The articles focus on the beginnings of the group as a peaceful yoga group and lead up to the most
recent events with the chemical attacks of the Tokyo subway systems. Shoko Asahara, who was
born Chizuo Matsumoto, during his stay in India in 1986, while he was on various religious
retreats in the Himalayan Mountains, claimed to have found enlightenment and upon his return to
Japan founded the group Aum Shinrikyo in 1987. The group started out with a small following
from the yoga studio, Aum Shinsen no kai, he and his wife, Kazuko, owned and operated.
Eventually word starting spreading about his so called teachings of the supreme truth (World
Religions and Spirituality Project VCU, Jackie Fowler, 2001). Asahara claimed that he had the
power to read minds and because of his enlightenment, claimed to have visions or prophesies, as he
would call them, about future events.

So Lashy ! Blastpro Mascara Advert Analysis
Diversity is a genre of advertising seldom used in the advertising world, especially in cosmetic
advertising. An example of diversity in cosmetic adverting would be the CoverGirl mascara
advertisement titled So Lashy! BlastPRO Mascara. This commercial features 7 models who don
shirts professing lash equality. More significantly, however, is the diversity of models portrayed in
the advertisement. advertisement So Lashy! BlastPRO Mascara CoverGirl differs from the
traditional conventions of cosmetic advertisements, using diversity to engage diverse customers,

Fighting Inequality and Oppression with Non-Violence Is...
An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so. Now the law of
nonviolence says that violence should be resisted not by counter violence but by nonviolence. This
I do by breaking the law and by peacefully submitting to arrest and imprisonment. (Mahatma
Gandhi) Since Americas independence until today people try to find different approaches to defeat
the inequality and the oppression. An old traditional thought is that violence can only be treated
with violence, there is no room left for an analysis of the situation and try to approach it
differently. Yet, there are ways like Gandhi quote states if we have to break the law and accept the
consequences to counter violence by non violence might as well accept this method; either way
people suffer the consequences for breaking the law . On the onther hand, a nonviolencemovement
will shift people view on the positive side rather than the negative side; demonstrating that
nonviolence method will achieve justice in a peaceful way without the consequences of violence.
The best method to advocate justice is by fostering a Non violent character to people and to stand
up against the enemy with intelligence.
Fighting inequality and oppression with violence has being an old school thought that had been
penetrated in the people mid since they were little, and the consequences of such thought had been
showed through the course of history. For instance in the letter from a Birmingham Jail, Martin

Warrior Archetype Research Paper
What makes a warrior is it:being able to push through hardships to the end, perhaps it s the ability
to be disciplined enough to deny any incentives that would deter you from your goals,or maybe it s
something not as positive maybe it s the ability to ruthlessly pursue your goals regardless of who s
in your path.Having similar qualities to the warriorarchetype is not necessarily a bad
thing, however the same can be said for it being good also. Take for example Wonder Woman she
fights for the greater good, but she is not afraid to kill for the greater good.
The archetype that was chosen for me based on the quiz was the warrior.A warrior is someone
who does anything necessary to achieve their dreams and goals.I do not believe I fully resemble ...

A character that immediately comes to mind for ruthlessness is Blaine from Izombie. Blaine is a
psychopathic zombie that infects humans only to force them to buy brains for an outrageous price
from him just to stay alive. That is a perfect example of ruthlessness and I hope to never stoop to
the point where I have to bring others down to achieve my goals in life.
I ve already said many bad things about this archetype implying that it is only bad, however it s
quite the contrary.A warrior is also courageous, competitive, and disciplined. Courageousness go
hand and hand usually when a person is courageous they have morals so they can stay on the right
path and stay courageous so they have to be very disciplined to keep these morales intact.
My favorite trait of this archetype is competitiveness I view myself as a very competitive
person.I believe we all need a friend who keeps us motivated to be the best at something. When I
work at something I love I don t want to stop halfway and call it done I want to ace it and work
as hard as possible at it until eventually I am considered the very best at it. I want to be known as
a somebody in this world, be someone who impacts someone else s life in a positive manner. In
my opinion being a non competitive person is how you fail to achieve your highest expectations
and goals.Which is something I never hope to happen to me or anyone

Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town by E.E. Cummings
anyone lived in a pretty how town by E.E. Cummings can be interpreted both literally and
figuratively. Literally, the poem can be read to mean that someone lived in a town where everyone
was unhappy, unloving, and cruel. The people went through life growing up, forgetting their
lonely, loveless childhoods, while others died unloved with nobody missing them, therefore the
town continued to repeat the cycle of unhappiness for every following generation. Figuratively, the
poem can be viewed as a love story between Anyone and Noone, how they fell in love, lived in
happiness, and died together, even though everyone else in their town was unhappy and just going
through the motions of life. Some of the possible themes of anyone lived in a pretty how townare
individuality, live as you want to live, live purposefully, be happy, and do not let others affect
your own happiness. The poetic form of this poem is a free verse narrative with quatrains. Some

Tess of the D Urbervilles Essay
Tess of the D Urbervilles was first published in 1891 to mixed reviews. The book is about the
character Tess and it is a haunting and tragic tale set in England in the Victorian times in around
about the mid 1800 s. The book was intially turned down by publishers because the story included
seduction and illegitimate birth. In the book Hardy uses a lot of symbolism, some of which
foreshadows the events that occur later in the story. Tess s world is rural Wessex where agriculture
was the most important industry. The story contains many rustic characters which are linksback to
Hardy s own life; the rustic characters are friendly and understanding and do not judge other people
as much as the aristocratic chracters.

There is another point in the book where Tess prays at what she thinks is some sort of holy relic
but later finds out it was the grave of an evil man, Tis a thing of ill omen, Miss. It ws put up in

and afterwards hung. the bones lie underneath. They say he sold his soul to the devil, and that he
walks at times , this foreshadows when she is hung at the end of the book.
Another use of symobolism is used late in the book where Tess and Angel are at stonehenge, But
Tess, really tired by this time, flung herself upon an oblong slab that lay close at hand, and was
sheltered from the wind by a pillar , some people speculate that ritualized funerary processions
where held at stonehenge which could foreshadow her coming death or this could be a reference
to sacrifice, and the stone of sacrifice midway . Also when Tess spends a night in the woods she
is described like she is hiding and there is also the story of the deer, this is foreshadowing to
when she becomes a wanted criminal and is hunted by the authorities, It is no use, sir, he said.
There are sixteen of us on the plain, and the whole country is reared.

The Mongol Empire And The Impact Of The Mongol Empire
Revised paper proposal and bibliography
The Mongol empire was one the greatest empires of all time expanding all over Central Asia.
Bordering Chinese states, the Khwarazmian empire, present day Afghanistan, Siberia, Iran, and
many more, at its height the mongol empire was over 20,000,000 square kilometers. This was all
possible due to extraordinary men in Central Asia, ruled by Genghis khan emperor of the Mongol
empire. These Asian nomads along with their fearless and intelligent leader, flourished against
numerous odds impacting all those whom they waged war against. A recipient of this impact in
particular was Russia. It was around 1219 when the Mongols first entered the Kievan Russia
marking the beginning of the interactions of the two. With the Mongols rise in establishing one of
the largest contiguous empire in history and having Russia only distances away the collision of the
two were inevitable. As history shows this collision did happen in the year 1236 which marked the
beginning of great impact that the Mongols would have on the Russian empire culturally,
politically, and economically.
Prior to the rise of the Mongol empire and their invasion of Russia, was a time of violence.
Mongolia separated by tribes and provinces was a non unified empire with little impact to Central
Asia. Being separated, feuds between provinces of power and money were the reason why
Mongolia remained separated. The provinces after a long a grueling process eventually became

I got this feeling because of his eyes, in the book it had a symbolic meaning. The symbolic
meaning in the book was that his eyes were cold blue and icy, it lost that meaning in the movie.
Additionally, plot relationships differed between the book and movie. For example, the
relationship between Soda and Sandy was very different in the movie. In the movie, Sandy is
barely mentioned, and nothing is known about Sandy going to Florida and her reason for going.
This has both an effect on the plot and understanding the relationship between Soda and Sandy.
Coppola does not develop these characters in the movie as well as Hinton does in the book.
Overall, director Francis Ford Coppola did a great job of selecting actors to play the roles. Coppola
s pick of C.Thomas Howell, as Ponyboy was a very good pick because I imaged Pony the exact
same as it was described in the book. Also, I liked the flow of the movie and the fact that it was
very similar to the book. Coppola set up the scenes beforehand and made sure that the scenes
closely depicted the action in the book. For example, he made sure that the actors that were
playing the Socs, they had all the best clothing. For the greacers, they only had sweat pants. This
made the actors almost feel like they were back at that time and I think this made the movie a
100% better than it could ve been. All in all, when reading a book and then watching the

3).
Causes Behind the Ultimate Problem There were several causes behind the ultimate problems
Magnolia suffered. This seems to have stemmed from the lack of accountability and responsibility
with the financial management. First, Mary had written a budget based on funds that were not
guaranteed. She even based raising money for the organization on higher grants for 2002. Since
the 2002 budget was written on false grants, this caused a huge problem and several staff
members got laid off. This caused the organization to come to a stand still. This problem could
have been solved a few different ways. Either by writing a budget with the grants and funds
Mary knew 100% would be available. Or she could have written the budget with the NYC grant
and had a back up budget incase it was not renewed. This way the board of directors could have
seen either way Mary had a budget that could actually be carried out. Secondly, in 2001 the
organization used the remainder of the grant to increase other administrative services. The surplus
from the grants in 2001 should have been budgeted into the growing organization and the services
provided, not administrative services. The identification of a human service agency s programs, the
creation of a program structure, the assignment of program managers, and the designation of
responsibility centers are the basic building blocks of

Licensing will also be more difficult to obtain, since adult entertainment is involved. These
additional fees as well as the additional talent required will cause Dirty Deeds prices to be higher
than traditional cleaning services. Another weakness is that Tucson s older population may be
more conservative than anticipated which may cause them to reject the service. The last
weakness is there may be a staff shortage during the summer and holiday months when college
students are out of town. Not having employees to clean houses means less productivity and
profitability. Among the external opportunities that Dirty Deeds may enjoy are that this type of
service has never been offered in Tucson before. If the service is widely accepted, the company
can be very profitable. Furthermore, Tucson s diverse population is consistently expanding which
offers a growing customer base. Dirty Deeds may also be able to utilize the new ideas that today s
college student have to offer. Applying new concepts to current cleaning methods will boost Dirty
Deeds Inc. reputation as an innovative cleaning company. Since customer satisfaction is
guaranteed, clients will likely refer Dirty Deeds Inc. to their friends which may also contribute to
an increased workflow. Threats exist that Dirty Deeds must convert into opportunities in order to
realize sufficient profit. One such threat is that people may not be willing to pay

Dunbar in another article (undated) included expertise as part of the scientific thinking. Ayalon and
Even (2008) notes association and plausible inference as other processes. Further reading, though,
indicates that the processes mentioned may not be clear cut in their use, that is, one process may

Dunbar (undated) highlighted three aspects scientific thinking, one of which is hypothesis testing.
In hypothesis testing logic is applied to a set of statements. These statements or propositions are a
combination of premises and conclusions. The premises and their conclusions are evaluated for
their truthfulness or justifiability of explanation. How these propositions are examined is referred
to as reasoning strategies. There are three strategies in hypothesis testing: induction, deduction and
abduction. These three processes also referred to as Peirce s Inferential Triad, can be used under
other reasoning processes such as causal reasoning. In addition, hypothesis testing may be on an
individual level or collaboratively (note that collaborative reasoning is mentioned as a reasoning
process by Dunbar and Klahr (2012)).

My Dream Of A Fashion Institute Of Technology
When applying to colleges, everyone has a goal in their mind that they are looking forward to
accomplishing. I also have an aim and plan which I want to execute in the best way possible.
The first and most crucial thing that holds immense importance in fulfilling your dream is the
college one chooses to go to. I chose Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) for many reasons,
Starting off by mentioning the wide variety of business and marketing programs they provide.
Moreover, the community of the college is known to be one of the best in New York, with a
beautiful campus and especially for me, the commute is a great steal. While applying to
colleges, FIT caught my attention the most. This was the only college, whom I see myself
graduating from in four years with my dream of a bachelor degree in marketing. The reason why
I chose marketing is that I have always been a social person who loves talking and most
importantly I am an extremely organized person who knows how to perform her tasks very well.
So that is why I see myself working as a marketing manager for big companies like Google and
Apple.
While thousands of students will be applying to FIT, the question is What makes me the perfect
candidate for FIT and what makes me stand out? Well, unlike most students that mainly only are
concerned about their GPA and spend all their high schoolyears in studying, I just did not study but
also took all advantages of my school clubs and community service opportunities. During my

My mom sat beside me as I recovered from surgery. I could tell something serious was being
conveyed. I watched tears begin to stream down her face as she spoke on the phone. My dad
reluctantly informed her of the outcome of Belle s veterinarian appointment.
Belle was introduced to our family in 1994 when a friend of my middle school aged sister needed
someone to rescue an unwanted litter. This was crazy to me because my dad, who had a horrible
memory of wild cats attacking him as a boy under his family farmhouse, hated cats. My mom on
the other hand, loved cats. I never imagined he would allow my young sister to have this pet.
Despite my assumptions, he did.
My mom convinced him the circumstances would only be for a few months. Despite my dad s
hope in this temporary adoption,16 years later, we still had Belle!
Named after a Disney movie s princess, our cat, Belle! was far from princess like. She made
Garfield look compassionate. For instance, she would meow as if she wanted you to pet her, but

I noticed after we had her for almost a year, she wasn t fond of me. As I sat talking on the phone

Death in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening Essay
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening A Stop for Death
Everyone feels burdened by life at some point. Everyone wishes they could just close their eyes
and make all the problems and struggles of life disappear. Some see death as a release from the
chains and ropes with which the trials and tribulations of life bind the human race. Death is a
powerful theme in literature, symbolized in a plethora of ways. In Stopping by Woods on a Snowy
Eve Robert Frost uses subtle imagery, symbolism, rhythm and rhyme to invoke the yearning for
death that the weary traveler of life feels.

Winter is a time of cold, when forests die and animals hide from the shrieking winds and biting
cold. Winter is a time for survival against the odds. How apt that the speaker is struggling against
the lovely, dark and deep woods to remember that he has miles to go before [he] sleep[s]. The
easy wind calls to him, and the downy flake beckons him to a comfortable sleep. If the speaker
had paused on a bright summer day, the sleep might be just a short rest, but the poem is set on the
darkest evening of the year while the woods fill up with snow, and any rest taken in the lovely,
dark and deep woods would result in the eternal sleep of death (474).
Sleep is another common symbol for death, and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is
filled with the essence of sleep. Every element of the poem works together to create a lullaby
effect, calling the speaker and reader to a lovely, dark and deep sleep (474). The gentle imagery
of the downy soft snow and easy wind, combined with the cadence and meter of the poem creates a
lulling, rocking, soothing effect. The AABB rhyme scheme and the iambic quatrameter create a
lullaby feeling, easing the reader in to a comfortable sleep.
The last two lines act as a slap in the face. Every element works toward death, and the speaker
almost slips into eternal rest. One can see him, putting the

I seized this opportunity to learn everything I could about pitching, securing, and managing
promotions from the head of the promotions agency. I worked with the consultants to pitch new
promotions and helped secure a global promotion with Burger King for a Kids Meal program.
Burger King was resistant at first but our determination to build a relationship and show our
brands strength helped secure the promotion. I supervised the development of all the marketing
collateral, point of sale displays, toys and trading cards that lead up to the promotion. Working
with Burger King and their agencies was a great opportunity that expanded my perspective on the
quick serve restaurant industry. The promotion generated 25 million toys in kid s meals around
the world and was so successful it was renewed for a second year. Working on this promotion was
not only a great opportunity to learn about a new industry, but also helped me become a better
leader with more confidence and a new ability to secure cross promotions.
Another significant project I worked on at PokГ©mon involved helping to lead a task force to

The movie North Country was inspired by Jenson v. Eveleth Taconite Co. a Supreme Court Case

Wildlife Corridor Essay
Abstract
Proponents of the wildlife corridor concept suggest that by connecting otherwise isolated portions
of habitat, species benefit through gaining access to a larger gene pool, thus increasing their
chances of reproductive success. Despite the popularisation of this idea over the last several
decades, a lack of long term scientific research has led some to question this assumption.
Factors including the territorial, mating and migration behaviours of individual species of animal
as well as the lengths and breadths of corridors are all assumed to influence the effect of a corridor
individually. As such, a specific corridor may assist in defragmenting the population of one species,
but may not affect another in any significant way.
The vast tracts of land required by wildlife corridors make a considered assessment of their
assumed benefits an absolute necessity.
Introduction
The following paper aims to critique assumptions commonly made about wildlife corridors and to
assess claims that they make a significant impact to the defragmentation of wildlife populations.
Information from a variety of sources will be assessed in terms of its accuracy and relevance in an
attempt to determine if wildlife corridors are an effective method to increase localised biodiversity
levels. After key evidence both in favour against the concept has been presented, any relevant ideas
will be synthesised into a recommendation made at the end of the paper.
How the Wildlife Corridor Strategy Works

Quantitative And Quantitative Risk Analysis
Quantitative Risk Analysis Ebony The quantitative risk analysis is a method for further evaluating
the effect of proposed risks identified by project stakeholders and teams on the ability to achieve
project objectives (Heldman, 2013, p. 274). Project teams use methods including sensitivity
analyses or predictive modeling and simulation techniques to determine how the riskwill affect
project progress (Heldman, 2013, pp. 276,278). During the quantitative analysis processes, each risk
is rated based on its characteristics using an impact scale (Project ManagementInstitute, 2013, p.
318). The analysis ratings are divided into two categories, probability and impact, whose product
indicates the risk s severity. Moreover, project teams use an impact scale to organize and prioritize
risks in a probability and impact matrix by project objective and impact categories (e.g. low,
medium, high) (Project Management Institute, 2013, p. 318). If the risk severity exceeds the
stakeholder or project team s risk tolerances, then the project teams can proactively monitor and
mitigate risks based on their priority (Project Management Institute, 2013, p. 318).
Private Financing. The Chunnel Tunnel project team and stakeholders failed to implement risk
management practices to mitigate the potential adverse impacts of its complex project financing.

Zinn Chapter 1 Questions
1.According to Zinn, what is the purpose for writing A People s History of the United States?
Zinn does not want to grieve for the victims and condemn the executioners. He will not overlook the
cruelties that people inflicted upon one another throughout history. He will not romanticize the
harsh truths of the world. Zinn says that his book will be quite skeptical of government, politics,
and culture. He tells the reader that before they continue to read they should know that his book
will be a blunt recollection of history and nothing more.
2.What is Zinn s thesis?
Zinn s tone is very evident from the first few paragraphs. However, his thesis is revealed slowly
throughout the chapter. While his thesis consists of multiple parts, Zinn is still able ... Show more

He claims that all the books start out with some heroic tale of an adventurous man discovering the
Americas. There is no mention of the bloodshed or the millions of lives that were lost. In most
history books, Columbu Day is a marked celebration.
4.What is Zinn s criticism of Samuel Eliot Morison s book, Christopher Columbus?
In Morison s popular book, written in 1954, he does talk about the enslavement and killing.
However, on the last page of the book, Morrison shares his opinion. He claims that COlumbus had
his faults, but they were large the parts that made him great. Zinn uses several paragraphs to
explain his own feelings on Morison s book. Zinn says that Morison doesn t lie about Columbus or
omit the murderous stories. In fact, he describes the actions the the harsh word of genocide.
However, Morison quickly mentions the truth and then he goes on to the other things that are more
important to him. In Zinn s opinion, Morison is stating the facts and then burying them under a
mass of irrelevant information. He believes that Morison s distortion of history is ideological
instead of purely

Global Climate Change Is The Future Of The Entire Generation
Global climate change transcends the future of the entire generation. Yunjing Wang mentions that
the world is expecting warming that could be dangerous throughout the century (Wang et al.,
2015). Not only effecting species of animals but also determining the presence of human existence.
New diseases prevail on a daily basis specifically vector borne. These vector borne illnesses adapt to
climate changedue to temperature fluctuations, constant precipitation, and population adjustments.
Although diseases such as Malaria and Zika are being researched on a daily basis, preventative
measures for diseases caused by climatechange are being acted upon by many organizations. If a
steady climate can arise in the near future, virulence of many climate related diseases will
eventually decline. The dynamics of climate influence virulence due to unstable temperatures. The
effects on the quality of life creates vulnerability to those that surround these virulent environments.
It is referenced that extreme outbreaks occur after major disturbances to the population
(McMichael, 2015). These climatic events tend to trigger microbes, pathogens, and hosts to start
infecting the nearest populous whether it be animal or human. As McMichael mentions, microbes
have the capacity that is stronger willed than any biotechnological application and can reproduce a
stable metabolism and maintain a relationship in the most severe disturbance (2015). McMichael,

The Tin Flute Analysis
Gabrielle Roy s novel the tin flute takes place in Saint Henri neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec
during the Second War World. This novel examines many themes, literary devices and important
aspects seen through the perspective of the Lacasse family as they struggle through life in
poverty. At the beginning, it is seen that a 19 year old girl, who works as a waitress at the Five
and Ten restaurant named Florentine is the main focus, but the novel revolves around Florentine
s mother, Rose Anna. Rose Anna represents many themes throughout the story such as, personal
loss, struggle and solitude, which presents her as a round character. Firstly, Rose Anna
experiences loss when she loses three of her eleven children at a young age, she lost her son
Daniel who died from Leukemia, her son EugГЁne and her husband Azarius to the war and
Florentine to marriage. Her loss is only a part of her struggles, Rose Anna and her family
struggle through life because they live in poverty. Rose Anna represents struggle because she
must take care of eleven children as well as another one coming on the way. While, Florentine
and EugГЁne are forced to work for a living to earn money for rent and food, instead of going to
school. This demonstrates Rose Anna as a round character because she always blamed Azarius for
their poverty, but by the end, she realized that she always held [Azarius] responsible for their
poverty, but now it seemed to her he had done his part (Roy 372). The last theme that

The Anna s hummingbird (Calypte Anna) is a green and grey ball of feathers with the agility of
a fighter pilot. They can hover, fly backwards, and even upside down for a short time. They are a
medium sized species with the males sporting an iridescent ruby red throat patch and the females
sport a lovely iridescent green and grey. They are stocky for a hummingbird, and are better suited
for Northern climates. They range from western North America to Baja California, from the
southern tip of Alaska to southern California. The males can even sing, but it sounds more like
high pitched little squeaks and screeches. They are most often found in forests, backyards, fields,

If a bird returns to the same area every year and expects to find food, it would really have a hard
time if all of a sudden its field of wildflowers became a new housing development. Migration is
energy intensive and exhausting, the bird might not be able to find food before it simply runs
out of fuel and perishes in its sleep. With pesticides and round ups being sprayed in ever higher
concentrations on wildflowers and weeds, more of it is entering the systems of these
hummingbirds. Not only are the flowers being effected, but the small insects the hummer preys
on as well. They carry the pesticide/pollen from the round up ready crops, and it is ingested with
the insect. Cats and other predators such as hawks pose threats to the hummers while they are
distracted during feeding, especially if the feeder is less than five feet off the ground.
Hummingbirds thrive on an array of different wild shrubs and flowers. Modern farming techniques
such as Mono cropping create forage deserts. This is due to the fact that there is only one crop for
acre upon acre that may not be hummingbird friendly or in

Auslan Influence On Deaf People
From the twentieth century until the present of 2015, the people often wonder about how sign
language started. Sign language is described as a visual language that is used in combination
with facial and body movements to communicate with other Deaf people. The definition of Deaf
people are the people who use sign language as their spoken language everyday life (World
Federation of the Deaf 2014, В¶ 1). It is estimated there are about 130 Deaf sign languages (UCL,

Other goods, including guns were also sold to the African dealers, which facilitated their obtaining
more slaves. The shipment of the African slaves were brought from Senegambia, Sierra Leone, the

language groups along some coast of Africa. A typical idea believed by the English planters was
that the African slaves did not hold to a system of beliefs that could be seen as a religion. The
members of the plantation and the church that served them felt, their beliefs amounted to nothing
more than heathenish superstition. But the Africans held religious beliefs derived from their
homeland. It may be useful to note that some of the slaves, particularly these who came from the
Fula speaking area of Senegambia, were Muslims. The Europeans not only expanded their land and
economy they were also expanding their minds with new ways of thinking such as Enlightenment .
Major ideas of the actual 18th century Enlightenment had a lot to do with democratic ideals, a

The Enlightenment was the product of a vast set of cultural and intellectual changes in Europe

  • 2. Social Observation Of The Southlands Mall In Centennial Social Observations I decided to go the Southlands Mall in Centennial, to observe people interactions. I choose to head over to the mall around 11 am on Friday, September 15th. This was a great time for me because my son was in school and I knew I needed at least two hours where I could just sit and observe people without any distractions. When I was observing, I was looking for norms of behavior and American values. To Begin, let me give you a visual of the mall. The Southlands mall is a large outdoor mall that s filled with shops, diners and entertainment. I thought I would sit near Town Square which is in the center of the mall. I could see majority of the store from here. There were a lot of mothers out watching their children play in the water fountain and at the park. Norms are how values tell us to behave (Conley, 2017, pg. 90). They are like rules or guideline to what kind of behavior is acceptable. Norms can be informal or formal. Informal norms are unspoken for example, as I observed my surroundings I saw children taking turns going down the slide. I also saw families standing in line getting Pretzels. These are norms that are not written down but we learn them when we are young. Informal norms are viewed as what is right verses what is rude. Formal norms are written down like laws.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I looked around I noticed all the expensive cars that were coming and going and parked along the stores. Expensive cars can represent ones success. Another example of this shown through the number of mothers that are out with their children. They have the leisure of enjoying a sunny afternoon with their kids. People seem to use material possessions for comfort or to compete with others. I saw women wearing Coach and Michael Kors bags. People were walking around on their IPhones, which we all know these items are not cheap. I also saw tons of women leaving stores with lots ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Laboratory Report on Body Composition This is a laboratory report on measuring body composition. The aim of the laboratory report was to compare two different field methods skinfolds and bioimpedance analysis to measure body composition and evaluate the most reliable doubly indirect method to measure body composition. A number of studies such as Kitano,T have shown a strong correlation between skinfold and bioelectrical impedance analysis and tend to have an average body fat difference of less than 0.6. Body composition is a combination of numerous components these are: Fat mass, fat free mass, Adipose tissue mass, Lean body mass and relative body fat. Fat mass is defined as all the extractable lipids from adipose and other tissue. Fat free mass is all the left over chemicals and tissues, including water, muscle, bone, connective tissue and internal organs. Adipose tissue mass are connective tissue that work as the major storage site for fat. Lean body mass is everything in the body apart from body fat. Lean body mass includes organs, blood, bones, muscles and skin. Relative body fat is the ratio between fat mass and total body mass. Body composition is measured in many ways. Anthropometry refers to human body composition measurement. The most accurate and direct form of measuring body composition is cadaver dissection which involves dissecting a dead human body and determining the fat percentage. In vivo or indirect, doubly indirect methods do not measure body composition directly, however predict it from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Private Peaceful Essay Charlie and Tommo are the main characters of the novel Private Peaceful, written by Michael Morpurgo. The boys head off in search of their great adventure, spending time training in the Salisbury Plains, England and in Etaples, France. Life in the training camps was a complete new experience from their normal day to day life in rural England. The training camps are very strict, they are run by Sergeant Hanley. Everything in the training camps was in lines, straight and organised. We see this when Tommo explains that we lived every moment of every day together, and usually in lines. We lined up together for shaves, for food, for inspections. Even when we dug trenches, they had to be in lines, straight trenches with straight edges. Life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Emily Grierson s Resistance To Change In this southern setting after the Civil War, Faulkner exposes the theme of resistance to change. A Rose for Emily is an assessment of the way some people deal with vicissitudes in their lives. Miss Emily Grierson who always subsisted under her father s wings, displays serious issues after his death. The story begins with the end of Emily s life. Poor Emily s sentimental clutter and grotesque demeanor bring pity on her character. Some may argue that she was just misunderstood, others may see in her a psychologically unbalanced person, and that her attitude was simply a way of crying out loud for help. In any cases, Emily appears to be someone that the common mortal would feel compassion for, enough to deposit flowers on her grave. Her inability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Music Concert Review Music has been around for centuries and has taken many, unique forms over the past hundreds of years. Every culture, big or small, has their own different style of music. Music has evolved to become a fundamental constituent of human life. I have been to many different instrumental performances, but this was my first concertthat I attended since I have been at LSU. The setting of this event was that it was located at the Union Theatre, and it started at 7:30 pm. The Union Theatre was an amazing venue. I walked through the front doors and into the lobby of the theatre, where a person was waiting in the box office to take my money and give me a ticket. When I received by ticket, I was handed a program and went inside the theatre. The theatre... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first family of instruments was the percussion section. This family caught my attention because I used to play percussion in high school. They also caught my attention because this family emphasizes and sets the rhythm of the piece. I really enjoyed the xylophone instrument during this concert because the xylophone brought out the melodies in each piece. Another family of instruments that caught my attention was the low brass section. I enjoyed this when the intense moment of a song came on because the low brass instruments emphasized the dark moments of the intense sections of each song. This emphasis brought out strong emotions out of me towards the songs. There were 5 guest conductors during this concert, but each one had their unique style of conducting their songs. All five conductors wore tuxedos with a white bowtie. When the conductor approached his podium, the band was stomping their feet to applaud him. He approached his podium and bowed to everyone. These conductors pointed at a certain family of instruments during a part of a song to emphasize those instruments to play louder, or softer. The conductors also raised their hands when they wanted the band to perform a louder dynamic change, or lower their hands when they wanted the band to perform a quitter dynamic change. • 11. The Ascent Of Money Summary In The Ascent of Money Niall Ferguson gives an in depth historical look at money and finance. He begins with ancient banking practices in ancient Mesopotamia, and finishes his book with his predictions for the near future based on patterns that he sees. In the book he discusses the rise of money and credit; the bondmarket; the stock market; insurance; real estate; and international finance. Niall Fergusson believes that finance and money was made as a necessity for urbanization and development, but that every time there has been an international globalized system set up, that it results in disaster. There has always been trade between people from different areas, but when it is on a massive global scale it results in disaster. His premise is that the first true globalized economy led to WWI, and that the United States is headed for a military showdown with China. In the first chapter titled Dreams of Avarice: the Rise of Money and Credit discusses the origins of money and credit and how it has come to help shape the modern economy. Fergusson says that money had its origins in Mesopotamia as clay tablets which were recording transactions such as for agrarian. He also says that credit was given by a Mesopotamian family to people as far away as in Persia in order to purchase homes. I thought that that was very interesting. He then goes on to say that the early Christians were not allowed to practice interest or usury, but Jewish law allowed for the Jews to give loans to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After seeing his wife and four children die before him for various reasons and unsuccessfully attempting several endeavors, Frost lived this life of depression, which he translated into many of his poems such as Goodbye and Keep Cold, Dust of Snow, Oven Bird, and Nothing Gold Can Stay. Throughout his poems, Frost utilizes various rhetorical strategies, such as metaphors and allusions to present the theme that one must learn to treasure his or her valuables and loved ones while they still exist. Outside of his poetry, Frost had a profound passion for growing apples. In Goodbye and Keep Cold, Robert Frostdiscusses the safety... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When an orchard is located near the outskirts of a large farm property, the farmer probably does not preserve it as proficiently as he or she would with the trees closer to the heart of the farm. The speaker s orchard lies at the edge of the dark... so young in the bark... at the end of the farm (1,2,4). The physical location that the speaker describes sounds as though the speaker has forgotten or rejected the orchard at a young age, or has almost disowned it, as Richard Poirer puts it in his critical essay, On Goodbye and Keep Cold. Furthermore, the statement at the edge of the dark implies that the speaker is interacting with the orchard late at night when it is dark and cold as if he or she had other important business outside of the orchard during the day; the speaker waited for a later time to deal with the orchard. With that being said, Frost wants his readers to believe that this is an absurd ideal to keep an orchard which provides fruit for those living in the farm out in the distance. This relates to Frost s theme that one must learn to treasure his or her belongings while they still exist. If the speaker continues to reject the orchard, the orchard will not continue to bear fruit for the speaker. This also pertains to Frost s extended metaphor that relates to the death of his daughter. Out of experience, Frost indirectly informs his readers that it is wise for one to treasure his or her valuables and loved ones as they still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The metamorphosis of technology has made the job further challenging to have a competitive advantage and sustain it. Competitive advantage is defined as an idiosyncratic lead a firm has over its fellow challengers and emulators. This lead enables the firm to vanquish its challenger. In other words it is something that distinguishes an organization from the competitors. For a competitive advantage to be sustainable, the firm has create value creating products or services that cannot be mirrored or matched by its fellow competitors and thereby it will able to outlast for a longer period of time (Bharadwaj, S, Varadarajan, P, Fahy, J 1993) Sustainable competitive advantage entirely depends on how an organization performs in a competitive environment. In order to sustain and consolidate the company s position, innovation becomes crucial. Companies should be in a position to embrace the changes in order to be abreast of the competition and hold its position (Daniela, P ,2014). • 15. The Fifa World Cup Event The FIFA World Cup, as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world that comes around every four years, is often assumed by potential host countries as highly profitable. Current research, however, suggests that the economic growth experienced by these host nations due to the World Cup event is lower than the expectations they had. Specifically, a number of economists assert that no observable short termeconomic growth exists within the tourism, retailing, accommodation, and employment sectors of each one of the host countries (Allmers Maennig, 2009). As for the long term impacts, some scholars insist that the World Cup cannot boost the four sectors listed above (Baumann, Robert, Bryan Engelhardt, and Victor A. Matheson 2012), while others argue that other beneficial factors, that do not affect the host countries in the short term, generate economic profits for host countries in the long term (Maennig, 2009). Some scholars even critique this claim, however, arguing that the new factors won t bring profits to host countries. In my opinion, the World Cup seems to give the allusion that it will benefit the economy right away in the short run, but this not necessarily true. On the other hand it is beneficial to the host countries and the international economy in the long run, assuming that different factors are considered in the long term analysis. These different views shape the philosophies of anthropologist who are classified as materialist, idealist, or falling in between. The materialist approach focuses on positivistic knowledge and empirical truths. Materialists use science and material elements within society to explain the basis for human culture and life; they consider anthropology one of the sciences. On the other hand, idealists consider anthropology one of the humanities. Idealists view culture and behavior as a pattern of interpretation of beliefs and ideas by the participants. Leacock s approach to anthropology stemmed from materialist theories, but her ethnographical works were a detailed mix, which focused on historical processes. In Women s Status in Egalitarian Society: Implications for Social Revolution, She argues that ethnographies presented on the topic were misguided due to their ahistorical approach, ethnocentric perspectives concerning social economic notions attributed to Western societies, and the oversight of the effects of capitalism. Leacock claims taking a historical approach when analyzing women s status in egalitarian band societies will lead to a less oppressed view of women s standing. She rejects the idea that women s roles are submissive and subservient to men, pointing out they are assumptions that ...both derive from and perpetuate a view of such society as merely an incipient form of our own (Moore, 2009, p.246). Leacock points to the lack of evidence in research stating that, Women are commonly stated or implied to hold low status in one or another society without benefit of empirical documentation (Moore, 2009, p.247). Another major fault she uncovers is in the contradictory findings within Ruth Landes Objiwai Women ; women of the same society are initially portrayed to be self sufficient and independent , but later are described as inferior to men, unskilled, and dependent on men. Now the law of nonviolence says that violence should be resisted not by counter violence but by nonviolence. This I do by breaking the law and by peacefully submitting to arrest and imprisonment. (Mahatma Gandhi) Since Americas independence until today people try to find different approaches to defeat the inequality and the oppression. An old traditional thought is that violence can only be treated with violence, there is no room left for an analysis of the situation and try to approach it differently. Yet, there are ways like Gandhi quote states if we have to break the law and accept the consequences to counter violence by non violence might as well accept this method; either way people suffer the consequences for breaking the law . On the onther hand, a nonviolencemovement will shift people view on the positive side rather than the negative side; demonstrating that nonviolence method will achieve justice in a peaceful way without the consequences of violence. This seems to have stemmed from the lack of accountability and responsibility with the financial management. First, Mary had written a budget based on funds that were not guaranteed. The Caribbean has had celebrated economists who, in their works, always sought to define the Caribbean experience and produce solutions to the region s problems. Their achievements arose out of a need for a Third World economic story that was separate from that developed in more advanced nations. Economics, however, has been regarded as a dismal science (Carlyle 1849) and some have questioned if it is a science at all. For this essay, we assume that economics is a science and ask Is and was scientific reasoninga part of economic reasoning in the Caribbean? • 45. Wildlife Corridor Essay Abstract Proponents of the wildlife corridor concept suggest that by connecting otherwise isolated portions of habitat, species benefit through gaining access to a larger gene pool, thus increasing their chances of reproductive success. Despite the popularisation of this idea over the last several decades, a lack of long term scientific research has led some to question this assumption. Factors including the territorial, mating and migration behaviours of individual species of animal as well as the lengths and breadths of corridors are all assumed to influence the effect of a corridor individually. As such, a specific corridor may assist in defragmenting the population of one species, but may not affect another in any significant way. The vast tracts of land required by wildlife corridors make a considered assessment of their assumed benefits an absolute necessity. Introduction The following paper aims to critique assumptions commonly made about wildlife corridors and to assess claims that they make a significant impact to the defragmentation of wildlife populations. Information from a variety of sources will be assessed in terms of its accuracy and relevance in an attempt to determine if wildlife corridors are an effective method to increase localised biodiversity levels. After key evidence both in favour against the concept has been presented, any relevant ideas will be synthesised into a recommendation made at the end of the paper. Project teams use methods including sensitivity analyses or predictive modeling and simulation techniques to determine how the riskwill affect project progress (Heldman, 2013, pp. 276,278). During the quantitative analysis processes, each risk is rated based on its characteristics using an impact scale (Project ManagementInstitute, 2013, p. 318). The analysis ratings are divided into two categories, probability and impact, whose product indicates the risk s severity. Moreover, project teams use an impact scale to organize and prioritize risks in a probability and impact matrix by project objective and impact categories (e.g. low, medium, high) (Project Management Institute, 2013, p. 318).
