Auschwitz Birkenau Concentration Camp Analysis
Nestled into the serene Polish countryside, you can find the small town of OЕ›wiД™cim. No one
would never expect that short drive out of town would bring you face to face with the aging
remnants of the most horrific, comprehensive act of human evil committed in the duration that our
species has existed in civilization Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp. This camp was the
crown jewel of a depraved, sickening system designed to extinguish and erase entire ethnic and
religious group from existence and allow the killers to wash their hands of these undesirables the
Jews, the Gypsies, the Poles, the disabled, and anyone else who failed to complement Hitler s
National Socialist Party s twisted fantasy of a racially pure state. Here is where... Show more

Why would it change? We fall for this game every time. It lay within the same calloused hand that
shook an unknowingly Romeo Dallaire s. That hand, molded from the same basic human DNA, the
Rwandan Genocidaire also gripped one of the thousands of machetes that swung in brutal slaughter
of the Tutsi men, women, and children. It wore the face of middle aged working class men the
butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker , and operating from within these regular people it pulled
that levers that operated the symphony of death that was the Holocaust. The normality of evil leaves
us shocked and perplexed, the paradox that something so despicable to could hide and inside
something or someone so unobtrusive leaves us lacking for words. We want to see a monster,
instead we see a man. The face evil could take could be that of our family members, or that of our
friends. When we meet the enemy, we meet ourselves and by hiding within us evil proves itself
even harder to find than we could ever imagine. The face of evil could be our own and again and
again we find ourselves unable to reconcile ourselves with that. When we refuse to see where it
roots itself, continues to grow, continues to thrive its flame continues to

Base 10
There are a variation of different ways numeric and alphanumeric data can be represented within a
computer system.
Base 10 (Decimal)
As humans from an early age we learn to count using the base 10 system, this is a system to tell us
how many times we have counted to 10 with the addition of any extra, for example the number 17
the 1 on the left shows us we have counter to 10 once and the 7 shows we have an additional 7,
the number 52 shows us we have counted to the number 10 five times and an additional 2. As
humans we find this base 10 system easier due to the simplicity of it, and our relation to the
number 10, as we have 10 fingers which can be used as physical representations of the number.
Computer systems can t use this method due to it only being able to recognized and deal with 2
states, on of off (1 and 0).
Base 2 (Binary)
Due to the computer not being able to handle base 10 and only being able to recognized 2 states,
on or off, 1 or 0. It uses a method called base 2. This base 2 method is called binary which uses the
numbers 1 and 0 to calculate. An example of this base 2 system would be the number two which
we know to be 2 which is a base 10 number, in base 2 the number 2 would be 10. Another example
of this is the number 110111 in base 2 is the same as the number 55 in base ten.

The next 6 numbers 10 15 use the characters A F to represent them in hexadecimal. Converting
between the methods of binary, hexadecimal and decimal systems is very simple, taking the hex
8F we can split this up into 2 sections the 8 and the F if we convert each section to binary 4 bit
so 8 in binary is 1000, and the F in binary is 1111 together these 2 four bit sections make one 8 bit
binary number 10001111. Then converting this binary number into decimal would be

Compare And Contrast Amir And Hassan
Although Amir and Hassan are raised in the same household, they live in different worlds. Elaborate
on this statement, living example from the text.
The world is subjected with its fate from birth till death taking its own journey of life. No matter
how equally we are born but the way we live our life determines in accordance to our own fate. It
is the destiny of life that determines the one who are fortunate and less fortunate. While the
fortunate people live a happy life oppositely the other has to encounter difficulty. Similarly, in the
novel the Kite Runner, Amir with his good fate lives a wealthy life while Hassan by his fate lived
a life of servant though they are born in a same house in a same way. There isn t much a similarity

Who Is Lily In The Giver
The character I chose to do for my Character Analysis was Lily. Lily is Jonas sister in the
community. She has dark hair and dark eyes and her hair ribbons are always untied. At the
beginning of the book, Lily is a seven, so she wears a front button coat. Then, later in the novel,
when Lily turns eight, she starts wearing a front button coat with smaller buttons and small
pockets as a sign that they are old enough to start keeping track of small belongings . She has
very long dreams and always tells a lengthy description at breakfast. Since she is only eight, she
says she is looking forward to getting a bicycle when she turns nine. She bickers occasionally with
Jonas because they are siblings, but they always make up, because they live in a perfect world.
When the familystarts taking care of Gabriel, she becomes attached to him and it is clear she
would be a good nurturer, just like her father. She also has a stuffed comfort object that is an
elephant. She usually gets in trouble with her family because of her careless mannerisms. She talks
quickly without thinking and is also very impatient.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other characters in the story think she is talkative and speaks without thinking. However, they also
think she is practical, caring, well informed, and nurturing. Every night, the family units discuss
their feelings throughout the book. Lily almost always has something to say. In the beginning of
the book, Lily is angry because a visiting child from another community kept getting in front of her
in the line to the slide. After she realizes that the other child probably didn t know the rules of the
community, she recalls that she felt stupid when she and her classmates went to another school in a
different community and Lily had not learned what the teacher there was talking about. Lily feels
comforted when she has her stuffed elephant and that s why she doesn t want to give it

Greek Funerals Death
The Loss of a Loved One
Have you ever wondered how other culture s funerals play out? Diverse cultures have different
religions. Therefore, funerals and mourning look different depending on their religion. The Greek,
Roman, and Egyptian mourning and funerals are strange, fascinating, and somewhat gross. Roman
funerals and mourning were precise, and had peculiar ways in completing them. The structure of
the funeral depended on whether the deceased person was rich, famous, or poor. A process called
the Procession was a time of mourning and respect for the dead. If the deceased was wealthy or
famous, they always had flashier funerals then the poor. They would hire musicians, mimes, and
sometimes professional mourners, who would rip ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An Egyptian funerary ritual consists of death and the soul s journey to the afterlife. Historian
Bunson once said, Eternity was the common destination of each man, women and child in Egypt
, however, not an Egypt in the clouds or sky, but one that mirrored one s life on earth. The Fields
of Reeds was the Egyptian afterlife which was a perfect reflection of the deceased s life on earth.
These burial rites were practiced as early as 4000 BCE and help reflect this vision of eternity.
Next was the mummification process, which was practiced in Egypt as early as 3500 BCE.
After a person had died, the family would bring the body to embalmers. Then the embalmers
would offer three choices to the bereaved. The first was (Ikram, 53) which involved the family
agreeing upon a price and leaving the task to the embalmers. For ( Ikram, 53) the embalmers
would have the internal organs removed, to help preserve the body. Then the organs were put in
jars and left in tomb with the wrapped body. The second chose was (Osiris) and it was the most
expensive of the three choices. If this process is chosen the body is laid out on a table and the
brain is extracted from the body, before they deceased is wrapped and buried. The last choice of
the three is (Nardo, 110) which represents the cheapest of them all. In this choice nothing was
removed from the body, the embalmers would simply wash out the intestines

Julius Ceaser Essay
Julius Ceaser Julius Caesar Julius Caesar was born on July 13th in 100B.C. His full name is
Gaius Julius Caesar, which was the same as his father s name. Julius Caesar was the most
famous Roman general and was one of the most influential political and military leaders in
history. He helped establish the vast Roman Empire. Caesar gained all his power in four different
areas. Those areas are politics, government, religion, and in the military. Using these amazing
powers he controlled many aspects of Roman life. In 84B.C. Caesar married Cornelia, the
daughter of Lucis Cornelius Cinna, a noble who was Marious associate in revolution. Lucis
Cornelius Sulla demanded they divorce in 83, but Caesar refused, risking his job and his life....

They gained control of Rome but soon split up by rivalries.
Crassus died fighting in the East and Caesar went to Gaul and Britain. Pompey feared Caesar s
power and allied himself to the Senate. Between 58B.C. and 49B.C. Caesar conquered more
territory in Gaul. He also led two expeditions to Britain. Caesar was going to seize power in
Rome. He crushed an army led by Pompey. This left Caesar in charge of the military in Rome. It
also signified the end of the Roman Republic. In 44B.C he was appointed dictator for life and in
the same year was assassinated. Before his death he introduced reforms that helped strengthen
Rome and protect his own power. He distributed land and money to the poor and granted Roman
citizenship to people in provinces outside Italy. He also reduced unemployment by creating many
building projects and increased the soldiers pay. He introduced a new calendar that was more
accurate. It was based on the Hellenistic astronomy. It was called the Julian Calendar and was used
in Europe until 1582A.D. Even though the Senate and Assembly of tribes continued to exist, he still
had total power.
However many people referred to him as a tyrant and that he was destroying the Republic. Other
people were jealous of all his popularity. Whatever the reason, on March 15th 44B.C. a group of
conspirators that were led by Gaius Cassius and Marcus Brutus stabbed Julius Caesar

Salvador Dali s The Persistence Of Memory
The room was dull, as Ralph knew they often were. When he d first entered the space, his vacant
eyes had scrutinized the walls and found them to be decorated with boring things. An abstract
painting hung next to a floor lamp that was just about as tall as he was, and a well kept copy of
Salvador Dali s The Persistence of Memory clung to the otherwise empty space to his left. A
sickly green yellow color had been painted on the walls. Despite himself, the fair boy found a
grimace twisting his pleasant features. His gaze travelled to the face of a middle aged manwho was
only slightly more interesting than the room itself. Thick, square glasses magnified his eyes and

The world was cruel. Everywhere he went he saw the sickness of mankind that Simon seemed to
understand so well. On the island, Ralph had not known what his dark haired friend had meant, but
after the manhunt and the death of his dear friend Piggy he supposed he had begun to understand.
Maybe it s just us. . . He murmured.
It had not been the island that had spoiled the boys. It had not been the storm, or even the war
that they had been fleeing. Ralph seemed to be able to comprehend it now. Mankind, when all
else was stripped away, was evil. Evil like an atomic bomb, or a camouflaged face, evil like a stick
sharpened at both ends. It was not the island that had poisoned the boys, but the boys that had
poisoned the island.
Ralph stared at the ceiling and inhaled sharply. He shut his eyes as if he never wanted to see the
sun again, and for a moment he attempted not to think. When he opened his eyes once more, he
breathed easier and stared at the Salvador Dali painting that hung in front of him.

The Cause Of Generalized Anxiety Disorders
In the United States, 85% of all adults and teenagers, more females than males, have been
depressed at one point in their life. (Davey) Although the term is used loosely because people
tend to incorrectly self diagnose their sadness as depression, it is actually defined as a common
and serious medical illness that negatively affects how one feels and the way he or she thinks and
acts. (Parekh). In most cases, depression is accompanied with a type of anxietydisorder such as as
generalized anxiety disorderand social anxiety (Facts). The cause of them occurring at the same

Social relationships with close friends have proved to help lower depression rates and even
make it less severe. Relationships are extremely beneficial to depression because they often help
prevent severe depression or even overcome it over time. Relationships boost confidence from
their partner and provide them with the idea that they are not alone. It has been proven that
those who do not have depression also tend to relate more with those that do have it because non

Reflection On Volunteering At Ruth Fyfe Elementary School
For my community service project I will be volunteering at Ruth Fyfe Elementary School. After
contacting the school s administration I was assigned to 3 different classes. My first challenge
was to work with 3rd graders, in my first assigned class, and help them with their multiplication. I
also had to help two other different 4th grade classes. I had to be extremely outgoing for
students to listen. I was a personal tutor for mere minutes because there were many students to
give my attention to. Ruth Fyfe is an elementary on W Bonanza Rd, pretty much on the other
side of town. In my assigned 3rd grade class I didn t exactly participate with every student
equally. I felt a bit biased towards some of the students because some students cared more than
others. I loved how some students were mentally engaged. I talked to all of the kids, however, I
mainly helped those who actually showed effort even if they were incorrect. The 4th grade class
was slightly more advanced but not too much of a difference in regards to maturity. I was
assigned two 4th grade classes for a total of 4 hours (2 hours each). The 4th graders were more
literate, however they still struggled. I tried my best to help them with their reading, but I can only

Dawson Mcallister Gender Stereotypes
Gender Stereotypes The issue of gender stereotypes is a complex one. When people think about this
problem, they think that men and women have to have certain roles in society. The gender
stereotype that women are more emotional than men is a very common gender stereotype that is a
problem in our society. This stereotype was most common around 1952, yet the stereotype still
occurs today through the media. Judging a women to be the more emotional genderis bad for society
because it shapes the woman into being that stereotype. Even though the stereotype that women are
more emotional than men is often portrayed through society and the media, men are just as
emotional as women. In particular, men can get more emotional than women after a breakup....

This stereotype is presented in The Hopeline by Dawson McAllister who writes about how and why
women are more emotional than men. The article states, Women are more prone to talk about what
they are thinking and feeling, and to demonstrate how they are feeling with their tears, facial
expressions, hand gestures, and body language (McAllister 8). After taking time to analyze the
evidence, McAllister is false because even though women often show their emotions, men are more
emotional deep down, but are not willing to show it. According to Elite Daily by Paul Hudson, he
states that, In this study, conducted by neurologists at Mindlab, men are actually much more
sensitive than women when it comes to being presented with emotional stimuli... Boys are taught to
be ashamed of the emotions that they experience, so they grow into men who are both emotional
confused and in denial... Don t cry. Don t pout. Don t complain Be a man an emotionless, stubborn
man (Hudson 13). As can be seen in the evidence, men have a bigger reaction to stimuli.
Furthermore, while men are taught to hide their feelings, women are taught to share their emotions
with others, and this causes men to tend to be more emotional. In conclusion, men are just as,
sometimes more, emotional than women, but they hide their emotions

Robert S. and Daniel L. say: Marginal utility measures the additional satisfaction obtained from
consuming one additional unit of a good. (Robert S. and Daniel L. Microeconomics 2010).
Diminshing marginal utility is the utility from one more unit consumption increase will decrease.
Equal marginal principle, as Robert S. and Daniel L. say: It is maximized when the consumer has
equalized the marginal utility per dollar of expenditure across all goods. [pic]
2.2 The understanding of marginal utility theory
Marginal utility, in other word, is the difference in your satisfaction when you are offered with
an additional one unit of a good or service. For example, when you are hungry, you will be very
happy with someone offering you a piece of bread. If you got the second one, you will still be
happy. So do the third or fourth one. But when it comes to the fifth or sixth piece, you may be
less happy with that. When it reaches to the seventh piece, you may become unhappy with the
offer. It is usual consumers psychology. In the process, people increasing satisfaction of getting
one more piece of bread is marginal utility. And just like full filling a bottle with water, people
will finally reach a point that we are not able to accept more good or service or even the water will
spill out which likes the satisfaction remain the same as the previous one additional unit.
Marginal utility theory has three main features. First, it

Examples Of Archetypes In Manchester By The Sea
Manchester by the Sea directed and written by Kenneth Lonergan is a literal film full with sorrow
and heaviness. This is a story telling about a depressed man asked to be his dead brother s teenage
son s supervisor. A lot of audience are confused after watching the movie, because they can not fully
understand it. People hold different comments and opinions among this movie. Using the
unhealable wound, colors, and the initiates to explain the reason behind Lee Chandler s refusal of
being Patrick s supervisor.
The first archetype explains the film s metaphor is a situation archetype. The Unhealable Wound.
Situation archetype refers to a physically or psychologically wound that can not be fully healed. In
the movie, the unhealable wound perfectly annotates the main character Lee Chandler. One day as

The Colors. This archetype is important to any kinds of book or films. Readers or audience can
receive the messages or emotions that the authors want to convey through this symbolic archetype.
For example, the book cover of Nineteen Eighty Four is black, this makes the readers feel it is
about depress and darkness, which the novel certainly is. In Manchester by the Sea, the color is blue
. Blue usually represents sorrow, melancholy, and depress. An illustration of blue is the film
poster s background, which is a gloomy blue sky. In addition, another scene in the movie that
indicates the color blue. Under the same sky, Lee met his ex wife, Randy. Randy already had
her second marriage and gave birth to a baby. When they talked about past, Randy cried: My heart

Reducing Employee Turnover in Hospitality
Reducing Employee Turnover in Hospitality Introduction High level of employee turnover
continues to be the most serious challenge in the hospitality industry (Hinkin amp; Tracey, 2000;
Wasmuth amp; Davis, 1983). The hospitality industry has an exceptionally high turnover rate
compared to other industries. * Definition of employee turnover Price (1977) defined employee
turnover as the ratio of the number of organization members who have left during the period being
considered divided by the average number of people in that organization during the period.
Meanwhile, Woods and Schmidgall (1995) focused on the entire process in the organization during

Besides, there are negative impacts on customer service and satisfaction (Jang, B. S. J., 2008).
In other words, high turnover is more likely to provide poor customer service and can ultimately
lead to customer dissatisfaction. Anecdotal evidence illustrates that in a company experiencing
150% turnover, customers are continually being served by new employees (Wood amp;
Macaulay, 1989). Strategies of Reducing Employee Turnover Imagine you have been working
late to finish an important project when your project manager walks into your office and tells
you she has been offered a better job. This is the same person you handpicked, trained, and
recently gave a pay raise. As she turns to depart she says, There are others thinking about leaving
too. What went wrong? How are you going to finish this project? Who will be next to leave? The
dread is starting to sink in (Smith, 2007). As Employers, they face enormous challenges when they
consider the increasing difficulty of finding skilled people, a more demanding younger workforce,
and a growing population of older workers heading toward retirement. Money and benefits are
important, but studies show most employees leave for other reasons. Obviously, a certain degree of
turnover is unavoidable, but with a small amount of effort organizations can make a major
difference. For a company to develop a retention strategy, employers must

An Report On Ethical Consumerism
This report analyses what ethical consumerism (EC) is and how it relates to customers
performance. First it provides four types of Ethical buying: positive buying, negative purchasing,
and company based purchasing and fully screened approach. It then takes a look at the position of
Marks and Spencer as a company on how they act ethically, and their social responsibilityinitiatives
based on its core values.
Overall this report will be based on the impact of organic, fair trade, environmental impact and
stewardship council when buying things.
Ethical Consumerism
Ethical consumerism is the moral buying and association where a company imposes to sell
products ethically where it is not just the profit they focus on but the idea of giving ... Show more

However Shaw et al (2005) argued that customers consider to be ethical, affordable and to do
what companies claim they do which is making decisions on the basis of ethical values. For
example people will not buy a product if inot ethically right, they will still consider price and
quality far important to consider for ethical consumers. As shaw reveled that ethical consumers
tend to become aware of other issue and include them in their decision making and effectively
become a habit (e.g. vegetarainism, recycling) An example of a product which falls into an ethical
category is Ethos Home Ware, which develops a range of home ware products that helps children
realise their potential to do anything they dream of recyclying.
Ethical consumerism could either be an individual based activity or an organizational based
activity where a campaign encourages people to act more ethically regarding behaviour. Ethical
consumerism has three major variables: which are listed below
Personal interest
Society interest
Environmental interest
In today s society, ethical consumerism can be seen as a significant way of thinking about the
responsibilities individuals take in respect to fair trade and eco friendly products. The study of
(Chris Arnot, Et al) also shows that fair trade products represent a large and rowing market sector
world wide. Marks and Spencer has also taken interest in ethical in the environment when reporting

Essay about Arguments for Open Adoption Records
For those who are a part of the adoption world one of the most hotly debated issues is whether
birth records should be open or closed to adoptees. With this issue comes strong feelings on both
sides. In most states adoption records are fully sealed and inaccessible, unless the adoptee
petitions the court. In 16 states these records are fully or partially available upon request with no
court involvement, and also may depend upon when you were born. In a few states records are
completely prohibited and the adoptee will never have any access to them. Alaska and Kansas
have always made original birth records available.

Adoption in America been ruled by a stigma. For much too long, those who could not have
children, unwed mothers, and the children born out of wedlock have been shamed and
humiliated. I believe it is time for these supposedly disgraceful ideas to go by the wayside, and we
begin hold onto the idea that all families are beautiful things, no matter how they are composed or
how they came about. There is no shame in being an infertile couple, an unwed mother, or a child
with unwed parents.
Two facets comprise this issue: the social and the legal. Proposed social impacts of open records
are the increase or decrease of abortions and adoptions, birth parents right to privacy, the forcing
of unwanted relationships with adoptee children, and the undermining of the integrity of the
adoptive family. Proposed legal impacts of open records are the violation of privacy to the family,

Joseph Plumb Martin Quotes
We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight
on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we
shall never surrender. Winston Churchill. As this quote shows, wars are often depicted as glorious
moments in the history of our world and are celebrated throughout history, from the conquests of
the Roman Empire to Napoleons domination of Europe. However, in A Narrative of a
Revolutionary Soldier, Joseph Plumb Martin shows from his perspective the Revolutionary Warand
creation of a new nation without romanticizing the situation. He shows realistically the daily

The most destructive and deadly disease that they had the largest problem with was smallpox,
The disorder continued to take hold of our people till there were more than twenty sick with it.

the soldiers who were getting sick. We lay on sacks filled with straw, and our beds mostly upon
the floor, in a rank on each side of the room, with an alley between. (221). Due to the lack of
hospitals and adequate medical care, the sick could not be cared for. They became sicker and
eventually died. The only thing that the soldiers could do that might prevent them from catching
this deadly disease was to inoculate themselves by catching a weaker strain of smallpox. There

The Development of Antibiotic Resistance
For many years people have wondered why the antibiotics that are used so commonly nowadays
are not as effective as they once were. Just like organisms evolve throughout time, resistance to
certain things can also evolve. This resistance however is not something that happens naturally but
rather is a man made process which was caused via the misuse, overuse, and/or underuse of
antibiotics (Davies 2010). The author Davies explains that there is no better example of the
Darwinian notions of selection and survival than the spread of antibiotic resistanceand how the
bacteria have evolved with traits that make them that way. The more people use antibiotics,
especially when not necessary, the higher the chance of bacteria in the body growing resistant to
those antibiotics. Major problems have arisen such as cells becoming resistant to antibiotics
because its selection pressure is reduced or eliminated. This means that one must counteract this by
continually increasing the antibiotic concentration in proportion to the increased resistance
(Rosenthal and Elowitz 2012). To understand how bacteria became resistant to antibiotics, one must
first understand the origin of antibiotics and its introduction into the body. Once these antibiotics
were discovered and first started being used, it was not long after that that they regrettably were
accompanied by the appearance of some resistant strains as well. The development of antibiotic
resistance is persistent especially because

Social Influences On Social And Cultural Context
In todays society, you can not turn on the tv or radio without hearing some type of denigrating
remark. Unfortunately its the cause of all the social norms. Our nation has been brainwashed by so
many factors. Such as tv, radio, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. This topic reminds me a lot of a
section in my psycology class Behavior in Social and Cultural Context . It talks about attributions
within social influences, behavior, ethnic identity, and stereotypes. Which could not fit anymore
perfectly with what is going on in the world today, and this topic.
Imagine walking into a school getting ready to teach a siminar about discrimination. You see that
the teachers have already grouped themselves by ethnicity. How would approach this? What would
you do to get your point across to the audience? this example from the book really hit me.
Once I started thinking about the statement and the questions that followed, I couldn t help but
think strictly of racism and sexism out of all the isms. I thought of this video I saw on Facebook.
The video started off with two babies, one black one white. They were happy and playing. They
didn t see the other as white or black, they just saw a little human like them. The video went on and
talked about how babies are innocent, and hoe we all started off innocent. As we grew, The ones
around us influenced us, to think that whatever race or sex we were, one was better than another. We

Analysis Of The Twilight Saga
The Cullen Family: More than just Blood Sucking Vampires
The Twilight Saga, by Stephanie Meyer, has been viewed as a narrative of either teenage lust or
romantic love characterized by Bella, a private seventeen year old girl, and Edward, a
mysterious vampire who goes to Bella s high school; Yet no one has credited the Cullen s in the
full light they deserve, in the way that they display family loyalty, self control, and altruism
among their family of vampires. The book series infatuated the hearts of teenage girls across the
world, and even expanded upon those horizons to reach an audience so wide that the book series
became a household name. Critics have endlessly discussed the love, or lust, of the two individuals
and are fascinated by the fact that the TwilightSaga falls not just in the genre of romance, but also
in the supernatural/ horror category. Maple, in an article that discusses this barrier breaking love
that Bella and Edward display, states throughout the story Bella and Edward share an unorthodox
relationship, a love above and beyond all others: something more expressive of eternal
commitment (Maple). Maple emphasizes how deep and rare the love between the two adolescents
is, and I would argue that human s innate desire for this kind of love is one of the main reasons
why Twilight became so widespread. However, another basis for the obsession of the books is
simply because The Cullen s, the family in which Edward belongs to, represent vampires in a

Invisible Man Meaning
What does it mean to be invisible? To have your voice silenced, your identity stripped away from
you, to have to answer to somebody who makes decisions for you? Through the power of learning
the truth in several forms of literature, it is apparent that there has been an agenda. A dominant
power structure has tried to put the African American community in a box, limit our
accomplishments and use us as means to justify an end. Ralph Ellison touched on racerelations and
what it truly means to be an African American in his classic book Invisible Man, but the title has
such a deeper meaning than what you see on the surface. In the grander scheme of things, the title
means to have no sense of identity or culture, tying into the much bigger problem... Show more

We come from a culture that does not exist to the upper echelon of society and we are not
expected to climb any further than what we are allowed to. Booker T. Washington s Atlanta
Exposition Address shows that assimilation is just as dangerous to the black mentality as not
embracing your culture at all. The address shows pride in being second class, an unsettling
hunger for trying to reach the glass ceiling without ever breaking it. Washington s belief is that It
is at the bottom of life we must begin, and not at the top. After years of being taken advantage of
by the system, this is a Stockholm Syndrome style mentality designed to keep African Americans
down for as long as possible. Washington overlooks the fact that black people have done what they
needed to throughout history to gain respect and it has never worked. White people never look at
black pride or black interests as positive, and assimilation allows them to ground blacks and keep
them without a true identity, keep them under an oppressive thumb and keep them not knowing
about their true mental gifts. As Washington states, No race can prosper till it learns that there is as
much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem. Preached this way, this man actively encourages
African Americans to remain stuck in a devastating mentality that could have wiped out the race a

Dog fighting needs to have a harsher punishment because it allows owners to train their dogs in
horrible circumstances. In one case in England, there are reports of dogs and owners who come
to children s playgrounds to train the dogs to fight. In the article, it said the people make the
dogs bite on to the equipment and hang off it to strengthen their bite before the illegal fight. I
find it absolutely astonishing that anyone is stupid enough to train fighting dogs but to do so in

which is used by toddlers is one of the most despicable things that I have heard in a long time.

Hopper uses these formalities to depict real life diner in American. Hopper purpose and what he
was trying to say I believe he wanted to create a timeless feel for American art. CafГ© Terrace at
Night was the first painting that Van Gogh painted where he used a nocturnal background. Using
contrasting colors and tones, unlike Nighthawk which used complementary colors, Van Gogh was
able to achieve a luminous surface with an interior light. Because of the brightness of the
luminous surface Van Gogh manage to brighten up the painting with bright yellow stars that
appear to make the sky glow, alongside the lights that pour out of the cafe making it attention
grabbing. Likewise with Nighthawks with its illuminate diner which shows similarities in their
lighting. The lines of composition is also different from Nighthawk which its lines were very
straight and rectangular, the composition in this piece points to the center of the work drawing
the viewer s eye along the pavement as if it were strolling the streets. Van Gogh was able to
recreated the setting directly from his observation, again similar to Hopper when he used the
Greenwich Village diner as inspiration for his work. Both pieces are successful works of art but,
depending on the culture one is more popular than the other. Nighthawks is feature in

The health of the Australian Indigenous Population is a significant domain in Australia that
represents a myriad of issues that affects the integrity of Indigenous Australians as the traditional

Kowal (2015) explores the correlation between early colonisation of the Europeans in the eighteenth

When people encounter conflict situations, they need to be able to accept conflict as a normative
challenge and use effective conflict management approaches and other alternatives to transform
conflict into an opportunity for growth (Pangman Pangman, 2010). It is important for negotiators to
have a clear understanding and working knowledge of the approaches to conflict and to be aware of
various alternatives to managing conflict. Therefore, the process of negotiation is an effective

The Shareholders Of Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Ltd
Earnings per share (also called net income per share) is a ratio that measures net income earned
per share of stock outstanding, and is the money each share of stock would receive if all of the
profits were distributed to the outstanding shares at year end. The higher the EPS, the better the
business is as an investment from a shareholders perspective. EPS could be due to an increase in
profit or a decrease in the number of shares in issue, which causes the return for each share to be
higher.
Application:
Earnings per Share serve as an indicator of a company s profitability. The EPS increased 325 cents
from 773 cents in 2013 to 1098 cents in 2014. The company s profitability increased by 42% in

R5 005 500 000 in 2014, and this played a big role in causing the EPS to increase by 42%. The
shareholders of Aspen Pharmacare Holdings Ltd should be satisfied as the current year (2014) EPS

As with all things, it takes some hard work and effort to keep your garden looking good.
However, there are a few ways to make your maintenance work in the garden quick and easy. 1.
Get the pH of your soil by taking it to your local garden center or even your agriculture
department of the local college or county co op. By formulating your soil to fit your needs, you
will have the best looking garden around. Adding compost and even organic fertilizers are a
great choice for maintaining your garden soil. If you can get the pH right, your plants should
last for ages. 2. Keep like minded plants together based on needs. You should try to keep plants
that need water in one particular area while plants with fewer water needs should be planted in
another place. The same principle goes for sunshine as well. Some plants just need a little bit of
sun while others need the shade. Keeping like minded plants together takes the guessing out of
maintenance. 3. Choose raised bed containers for a controllable approach to gardening. The
raised beds allow for easier weed control as well as the proper drainage, fertilizer, watering and
more. Plus, you don t have to get on your hands and knees to care for your plants. 4. Mulching is
important to plants. Not only is it a material that looks good but also does some great things for
your place as well. For instance, mulch is not only attractive but

Exploring the Purpose of the Indian Gaming Regulation Act...
When the word Native American is mentioned, the first thing most people will think of is Indian
gaming. As many people know, only Native Americans can conduct gaming while people from
other ethnicity cannot. This leads to the belief that it is an indirect way for the American
government to repay the tribal government for taking their lands. This is partially true. The right to
conduct gaming on reservations begins with the Indian Gaming Regulation Act (IGRA). Since its
establishment in 1988, hundreds of tribes are able to negotiate an agreement with the governments
to operate casinos on reservation lands. However, this is not the only intention of IGRA. Although
Congress says that the real purpose of IGRA is to allow Indians to open... Show more content on

It was also created to ensure legality and to protect the financial interests of tribes (Light and
Rand, 44). IGRA is viewed differently among the Native and the non Native people. To many
Americans, IGRA is a compromise between the American government and the tribal government
because it enables tribes to support themselves, while it meets the Congress intention of opening
more jobs to control poverty related crimes. According to a survey by the National Indian
Gaming Association (NIGA) in 2006, as much as 75% of Americans believe that Indians benefit
from gaming ( The Economic Impact of Indian Gaming in 2006 ). It is approximated that the
tribal gaming industry generates $15.9 billion in revenue in 2003 ( National Indian Gaming
Association ), and has created over 550,000 jobs (Light and Rand, 85). Even though there is only
a small change in the number of crimes as a result of casinos, it is enough to conclude that crime
rates were reduced, but not in an overwhelming way (Light and Rand, 97). On the contrary, Native
Americans believe that it is a one sided negotiations that gives the state and federal government
power over tribal authority (Light and Rand, 3). IGRA limits the tribe s ability to fully express its
tribal sovereignty. Most people know that only Native Americans have the right to operate gaming,

The Severe Water Crisis Of Africa Is One Of The World s...
The severe water crisis in Africa is one of the World s leading problems. Kenya and South Africa
have always had limited water resources, and now with their population continuing to grow, an
increase in the demand for water is needed now more than ever before. Water plays a crucial role
in continuing to help the continent of Africa develop and grow. This lack of water affects food
security, impoverished people, and their health.
Imagine spending one third of your day collecting water from the nearest source, which may be
miles away. This is the case for many women and children in Kenya. And, in South Africa, there
is an image of a town lined with buckets of people waiting to collect their water for the day. The
water is brought to these areas by an undependable truck, one that may not show up at all. Most
people in rural South Africa are entirely dependant on groundwater, which comes from wells and
pumps. According to worldbank.org, in 2015, 36.8 percent of people living in Kenya do not have
access to clean drinking water. This lack of water affects the health of millions of Kenyans. The
population of Kenya reaches almost 48 million people, but this need for water is no new issue. It
has been going on for decades. Kenya is a dry country with a humid climate. 17 percent of the land
can be used for agriculture profitability, that supports 75 percent of the population. Since the
economy relies so heavily on agriculture, when a drought happens it affects Kenya as a whole.

getting value for their money (Appendix 3, 4).
BMW and Toyota assess quality differently before they report on their autos, and they perform
different tests to guarantee their quality guidelines.
BMW adjusts multi level quality administration frameworks to guarantee the quality of their

The Importance Of The Post Office
The United States Post Office was established by the Second Continental Congress in 1775. The
Post Office has been part of American society for almost two centuries and through the years it has
been changing with America. It was an important method for people to communicate in the past,
however, is it relevant in today s society? The issue of eliminating or keeping the Post Office
resulted in a controversy among the United States. The Post Office should be eliminated due to the
debt the post office is facing each year, more usage of technology, and slow modifications.
Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution offers the Congress its powers and limits. According to Article I,
Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution, which is known as the Postal Clause,
empowers Congress To establish Post Offices and post Roads. The Postal Clause has been
interpreted to provide Congress the authority to appoint post offices and mail routes. Therefore,
Congress has the power to carry, deliver, and regulate the mails of the United States as a whole.
The first issue the Post Office has been struggling with is accumulated debt. For the past ten years,
the United States Postal Service documented annual losses around $15 billion. (usatoday)
Furthermore, in 2012 the Post Office was unable to pay out their retiree health benefits of $11
billion. In 2013, the Post Service tried to address the issues they have been facing in the past, they
proposed lowering future Federal Employee

Homeostatic Chemokine Research Paper
Homeostatic chemokines are constitutively expressed and regulate tissue specific leukocyte
migration [117]. The homeostatic chemokine CCL27 also called CTACK (cutaneous T cell
attracting chemokine) is specifically expressed by human epidermal keratinocytes in the skin
[118, 119]. CCL27 is expressed in large amounts in basal cells of the epidermis [119]. During the
process of epidermal cell differentiation from the basal layer to the skin surface, the expression
levels of CCL27 decrease [119]. CCL27 binds to its receptor CCR10 and recruits CLA+ skin
homing memory T cells predominantly to the epidermis [118, 120]. During cutaneous inflammation

The Life Of Flannery O Connor Essay
The impact of an author s life on their writing is vast. Many people do not see the large influence
of an author s childhood on their writings, but it plays a major role. The life of Flannery O
Connor is no exception to this. The great Catholic lifestyle of her parents helped persuade her
writing of, A Good Man is Hard to Find. Flannery O Connor is regarded as one of the greatest
supporters of Roman Catholic writings in the twentieth century. O Connor was born in Savannah
on March 25th, 1925 and her parents were very devout Catholics. She was raised to always live
the Catholic lifestyle. O Connor was educated at a local parochial school, and after moving to

O Connor got to know Robert Penn Warren, John Crowe Ransom, Austin Warren, and Andrew
Lytle. They are some of the major writers who taught in the programs at the University of Iowa.
Andrew Lytle became one of the first to like the writings of Flannery O Connor, and mentored
her. Because he was the editor of the Sewanne Review, Lytle published many of O Connor s
stories, along with some critical reviews of her stories (Gordon 1).
Paul Engle was one of the first people to read the first drafts of Wise Blood, O Connor s first
novel. She won the Rinehart Iowa Fiction award for this first novel of hers, and was accepted at
yaddo. Yaddo is a retreat for artists in Saratoga Springs, New York. She became close friends with
Robert Lowell at there. After many months at Yaddo, she moved into the garage apartment of Sally
and Robert Fitzgerald. She lived in this Ridgefield, Connecticut apartment for about two years
(Gordon 1).
In 1950, Flannery O Connor was diagnosed with lupus. This was an incurable disease, which
could only be treated by the use of steroid drugs. She survived the first serious outbreak of the
disease, but she had to move out of the apartment and return to Milledgeville. This is where she
remained for the rest of her life. She spent much of her days writing, and she even took trips to talk
about and read her finished pieces. She wrote many letters to the Fitzgerald s, Robert Lowell,
Caroline Gordon, and many others. She also wrote a great

The Positive Side On Children s Disability Essay
An educator can also help by letting them know to focus on the positive side on their child s
disability. What can the parent and child do together that would be rewarding at the end. A child
must have a consistent learning experience. Educators and parents can work together to build a
schedule that can flow between home life and school life. It is important for a child to be treated
consistently and an educator can aid a parent in the methods used for education to ensure a
similar learning experience at home and at school. Consistency is important for a special needs
child to succeed. Without consistency, a special needs child can feel too overwhelmed and
sometimes unwilling to work because the task might be too hard for the child. Finally, it is very
important for educators to prepare parents beforehand. A parent who is not prepared might see
something that appears far too complex to understand, but with the proper training, they will be
prepped on the concepts behind the teacher s actions before an unconventional method was used.
Why programs? There are many programs that can provide parent training on their special need s
child such as PACER and local centers like Challenge Family Resource Center CFRC in Merced,
Ca. These programs provide large amount of resources. They usually have access to resource
libraries and toy lending libraries. Often they have access to parent mentors, support groups,
playgroups, sibling support, adult day programs, as well as support

King County Emergency Medical Systems Essay
Emergency medical services is the process of treating patients, transporting them to the hospital,
and providing immediate care according to the patient s condition. Without Emergency Medical
Services (EMS), some patients may not survive the trip to the hospital. Thus, the most important
motivator for establishing emergency medical services systems was to reduce losses of life by
providing treatment from specialized medical providers during transportation to the hospital. There
have been many concerns about the effectiveness of operation and the procedures of the emergency
medical systems in providing care to patients. Accordingly, King County Emergency Medical
Services of Washington state have taken great care to develop a system that improves the patient s
outcome through providing immediate medical care.
The emergency care system works under the Seattle Fire Department and operates with emergency
departments at local hospitals, dispatch centers, and private ambulance providers, as well as the
fire departments ( About the EMS Division, 2016). The system consists of many providers who are
working as a team to provide the necessary treatment in both life threatening and non urgent
situations. Providing the best quality care to their residents is a policy.

The Gilded Age And The Second Industrial Revolution
The Gilded Age is known as the Second Industrial Revolution because of the major increase in
factories and production (Foner 593). During this time the United States controlled more than a
third of the world s industrial output. This led to approximately 11 million people moving from
the rural areas to the city, and another 25 million immigrants moving into America (Foner, 596).
Because of the increase in population, freedom and safety were harder to maintain. Freedom
was hard for everyone who was not a wealthy, white male. This was proven when the Indians of
the Gilded Age were fighting for their freedom. One major occurrence was the famous saying
from Chief Joseph, Let me be a free man . Chief Joseph was the leader of the Nez Perce (Foner,
615). He wanted to confront an issue that not only his tribe but also other tribes were struggling
with, which was being confined to reservation life (Foner, 615). This was the U.S. s first
example of a strike. Many more strikes occurred in the progressive era when women were
battling gender roles and individuality. Women established feminism , which was a gender
liberation of females during the progressive era (Foner, 703). Another major idea of freedom
was presented in the workplace called The Miner s Freedom (Foner, 607). It was established in
the Gilded Age for worker s economic independence (Foner, 607). The Miner s Freedom was for
the trustworthy, skilled workers who did not have to have managerial supervision at all times
(Foner, 607, 610). In the progressive era, there was Fordism. Fordism was a step towards mass
production, which fueled the economic system by having more of the same products for the
consumers (Foner, 693). Freedom was hard to maintain because of political corruption and the
mishandling of the economy. Overall, the bourgeois dominated the proletariat. Andrew Carnegie,
John D. Rockefeller, and William Vanderbilt are three examples of political figures. Carnegie had
steel company, in which he was in control of every aspect from raw materials to manufacturing,
distribution, and transportation (Foner, 599). Rockefeller bought out all of the competing oil
companies and controlled every facet of them as well (Foner, 599). Vanderbilt controlled

Ending Welfare
Ending Welfare as We Know It by Meredith Vieira
Before Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) became what it is known as today, it
was called Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC). AFDC was a grant program created
to allow states to fund cash welfare payments for needy children who struggle with parental support
because of a father or mother s absence, unemployment, incapacity, or death. It was established by
the Social Security Act of 1935. When President Clinton signed the Personal Responsibility and
Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) in 1996, it replaced AFDC and its
administration, the Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS) program, and the
Emergency Assistance (EA) program with TANF, a cash welfareblock grant. The belief for this
transition was that Americans should become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of TANF was to discourage teens from having more babies by requiring them to live
at home and also stay in school to qualify for the benefits. The child exclusion law was also
created to reduce the birth of children since the old system allowed access for women to receive
a raise in welfare benefits for every child they had. AFDC seems to work for Elba compared to
TANF. In my opinion, I feel that the policies are actually helpful because it is designed for
women to focus on other ways for support, instead of the sole reliance of welfare. I believe the
policies promote self sufficiency and responsibility by requiring minors to continue their
education. It also encourages women to work towards a more financially stable future. In Elba s
case, however, I find this very difficult for her to attain, considering the fact that she is a minor
and may not have all the education on what resources or services are available. She may not
understand what she actually needs to do in order to receive benefits or have guidance on how to

Native Americans In The Film, Westward Expansion

this trend and receives heat from the film. He is described as an Anti Americanist, and although I
don t agree with this, I do believe he has intentionally written it this way to grasp the attention of the
audience and introduce a concept and point of view they are unfamiliar with. With the film

An Analysis Of Frank Lloyd Wright On Architecture, And...
In life, there are things that happen to us; all of us or some of us that are beyond comprehension
and that leave a lasting impact into our lives. Some of the things are a glimpse of what the future
could imply to us and form a platform from which important things will be built. In the last few
centuries, the dancing industry in the world had not been considered as an important art, and
therefore, dancing was basically done informally for entertaining oneself or for layman s reasons.
That was until a girl was born at the end of the of the 18th century, a girl who would grow into
prominence as far as dancing was concerned; revolutionizing the danceworld and setting new
platforms through which modern dancewould be established. Her influence on the dance and
choreography would last for over seven decades, and her influence has been reminiscent to that of
Picasso on the modern visual arts, Frank Lloyd Wright on architecture, and Stravinsky on music.
The name of this girl who went from heights to heights and established the modern dancing and
choreography in the world was Martha Graham.
Martha Graham was an American dancer and choreographer, born in the city of Allegheny, which
would later become part of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, when Martha turned fourteen years
old, her family moved to Santa Barbara, California. Her father was an alienist, a practitioner of an
early form of psychiatry, or what could be described as using physical movements to treat physical

Talk Therapy For Depression Or Bipolar Disorder ( Manic...
Psychotherapy (also known as talk therapy) can be an important part of treatment for depression or
bipolar disorder (manic depression). A good therapist can help you cope with feelings and
symptoms, and change behavior patterns that may contribute to your illness.
Talk therapy is not just talking about your problems ; it is also working toward solutions. Some
therapy may involve homework, such as tracking your moods, writing about your thoughts, or
participating in social activities that have caused anxiety in the past. You might be encouraged to
look at things in a different way or learn new ways to react to events or people.
Most of today s psychotherapy is brief and focused on your current thoughts, feelings and life
issues. Focusing on the past can help explain things in your life, but focusing on the present can
help you cope with the present and prepare for the future. You might see your therapist more often
at the beginning of treatment, and later, as you learn to manage problems and avoid triggers, you
might go to psychotherapy appointments less often.
Psychotherapy can help you: Understand your illness; define and reach wellness goals; overcome
fears or insecurities; cope with stress; make sense of past traumatic experiences; separate your true
personality from the mood swings caused by your illness; identify triggers that may worsen your
symptoms; improve relationships with family and friends; establish a stable, dependable routine;

Environmental Impacts Of Environmental Disasters
Introduction Environmental damage that is caused by just one individual is exclusively minor
which causes it to be unnoticed, whereas a major group of people, such as a large corporation
harming the environment at once causes major harm to society. More than a century of industrial
development has caused negative environmental impacts such as global warming, ozone depletion,
and air and water pollution. These are recognized as global environmental problems that need
immediate solutions. Climate change, as an international environmental issue, is getting a great
deal of attention as it has become a global issue. In the last few decades, there has been a
heightened awareness of environmental issues by governments, policy makers, advocacy groups,
business firms, and the public all over the world. The corporate role in this, the potentially most
severe and all encompassing of environmental disasters, is quite clear as business activities are
effecting climate change negatively. This paper will argue that in order to minimize the negative
effect of environmental harm and climate change, the undertakings of corporations should be
structured and encouraged to perform in a socially responsible manner. This will be examined
through the discussion on the legal structure of corporations and the desire of regulators and
victims looking to hold them accountable for their environmental harm. It will be followed with a
description of the importance of corporate social responsibility. This

  • 2. Auschwitz Birkenau Concentration Camp Analysis Nestled into the serene Polish countryside, you can find the small town of OЕ›wiД™cim. No one would never expect that short drive out of town would bring you face to face with the aging remnants of the most horrific, comprehensive act of human evil committed in the duration that our species has existed in civilization Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp. This camp was the crown jewel of a depraved, sickening system designed to extinguish and erase entire ethnic and religious group from existence and allow the killers to wash their hands of these undesirables the Jews, the Gypsies, the Poles, the disabled, and anyone else who failed to complement Hitler s National Socialist Party s twisted fantasy of a racially pure state. Here is where... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why would it change? We fall for this game every time. It lay within the same calloused hand that shook an unknowingly Romeo Dallaire s. That hand, molded from the same basic human DNA, the Rwandan Genocidaire also gripped one of the thousands of machetes that swung in brutal slaughter of the Tutsi men, women, and children. It wore the face of middle aged working class men the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker , and operating from within these regular people it pulled that levers that operated the symphony of death that was the Holocaust. The normality of evil leaves us shocked and perplexed, the paradox that something so despicable to could hide and inside something or someone so unobtrusive leaves us lacking for words. We want to see a monster, instead we see a man. The face evil could take could be that of our family members, or that of our friends. When we meet the enemy, we meet ourselves and by hiding within us evil proves itself even harder to find than we could ever imagine. The face of evil could be our own and again and again we find ourselves unable to reconcile ourselves with that. When we refuse to see where it roots itself, continues to grow, continues to thrive its flame continues to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Base 10 There are a variation of different ways numeric and alphanumeric data can be represented within a computer system. Base 10 (Decimal) As humans from an early age we learn to count using the base 10 system, this is a system to tell us how many times we have counted to 10 with the addition of any extra, for example the number 17 the 1 on the left shows us we have counter to 10 once and the 7 shows we have an additional 7, the number 52 shows us we have counted to the number 10 five times and an additional 2. As humans we find this base 10 system easier due to the simplicity of it, and our relation to the number 10, as we have 10 fingers which can be used as physical representations of the number. Computer systems can t use this method due to it only being able to recognized and deal with 2 states, on of off (1 and 0). Base 2 (Binary) Due to the computer not being able to handle base 10 and only being able to recognized 2 states, on or off, 1 or 0. It uses a method called base 2. This base 2 method is called binary which uses the numbers 1 and 0 to calculate. An example of this base 2 system would be the number two which we know to be 2 which is a base 10 number, in base 2 the number 2 would be 10. Another example of this is the number 110111 in base 2 is the same as the number 55 in base ten. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, funerals and mourning look different depending on their religion. The Greek, Roman, and Egyptian mourning and funerals are strange, fascinating, and somewhat gross. Roman funerals and mourning were precise, and had peculiar ways in completing them. The structure of the funeral depended on whether the deceased person was rich, famous, or poor. An Egyptian funerary ritual consists of death and the soul s journey to the afterlife. Historian Bunson once said, Eternity was the common destination of each man, women and child in Egypt , however, not an Egypt in the clouds or sky, but one that mirrored one s life on earth. The Fields of Reeds was the Egyptian afterlife which was a perfect reflection of the deceased s life on earth. These burial rites were practiced as early as 4000 BCE and help reflect this vision of eternity. Next was the mummification process, which was practiced in Egypt as early as 3500 BCE. After a person had died, the family would bring the body to embalmers. Then the embalmers would offer three choices to the bereaved. The first was (Ikram, 53) which involved the family agreeing upon a price and leaving the task to the embalmers. For ( Ikram, 53) the embalmers would have the internal organs removed, to help preserve the body. Then the organs were put in jars and left in tomb with the wrapped body. The second chose was (Osiris) and it was the most expensive of the three choices. If this process is chosen the body is laid out on a table and the brain is extracted from the body, before they deceased is wrapped and buried. Before his death he introduced reforms that helped strengthen Rome and protect his own power. He distributed land and money to the poor and granted Roman citizenship to people in provinces outside Italy. It was called the Julian Calendar and was used in Europe until 1582A.D. Even though the Senate and Assembly of tribes continued to exist, he still had total power. A sickly green yellow color had been painted on the walls. Despite himself, the fair boy found a grimace twisting his pleasant features. He murmured. It had not been the island that had spoiled the boys. It had not been the storm, or even the war that they had been fleeing. Ralph seemed to be able to comprehend it now. After contacting the school s administration I was assigned to 3 different classes. My first challenge was to work with 3rd graders, in my first assigned class, and help them with their multiplication. I also had to help two other different 4th grade classes. I had to be extremely outgoing for students to listen. I was a personal tutor for mere minutes because there were many students to give my attention to. Ruth Fyfe is an elementary on W Bonanza Rd, pretty much on the other side of town. In my assigned 3rd grade class I didn t exactly participate with every student equally. I felt a bit biased towards some of the students because some students cared more than others. I loved how some students were mentally engaged. I talked to all of the kids, however, I mainly helped those who actually showed effort even if they were incorrect. The 4th grade class was slightly more advanced but not too much of a difference in regards to maturity. I was assigned two 4th grade classes for a total of 4 hours (2 hours each). • 13. Dawson Mcallister Gender Stereotypes Gender Stereotypes The issue of gender stereotypes is a complex one. When people think about this problem, they think that men and women have to have certain roles in society. The gender stereotype that women are more emotional than men is a very common gender stereotype that is a problem in our society. This stereotype was most common around 1952, yet the stereotype still occurs today through the media. Judging a women to be the more emotional genderis bad for society because it shapes the woman into being that stereotype. Even though the stereotype that women are more emotional than men is often portrayed through society and the media, men are just as emotional as women. In particular, men can get more emotional than women after a breakup.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This stereotype is presented in The Hopeline by Dawson McAllister who writes about how and why women are more emotional than men. The article states, Women are more prone to talk about what they are thinking and feeling, and to demonstrate how they are feeling with their tears, facial expressions, hand gestures, and body language (McAllister 8). After taking time to analyze the evidence, McAllister is false because even though women often show their emotions, men are more emotional deep down, but are not willing to show it. According to Elite Daily by Paul Hudson, he states that, In this study, conducted by neurologists at Mindlab, men are actually much more sensitive than women when it comes to being presented with emotional stimuli... Boys are taught to be ashamed of the emotions that they experience, so they grow into men who are both emotional confused and in denial... Don t cry. Don t pout. Don t complain Be a man an emotionless, stubborn man (Hudson 13). As can be seen in the evidence, men have a bigger reaction to stimuli. Furthermore, while men are taught to hide their feelings, women are taught to share their emotions with others, and this causes men to tend to be more emotional. In conclusion, men are just as, sometimes more, emotional than women, but they hide their emotions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Robert S. and Daniel L. say: Marginal utility measures the additional satisfaction obtained from consuming one additional unit of a good. (Robert S. and Daniel L. Microeconomics 2010). Diminshing marginal utility is the utility from one more unit consumption increase will decrease. Equal marginal principle, as Robert S. and Daniel L. say: It is maximized when the consumer has equalized the marginal utility per dollar of expenditure across all goods. [pic] 2.2 The understanding of marginal utility theory Marginal utility, in other word, is the difference in your satisfaction when you are offered with an additional one unit of a good or service. For example, when you are hungry, you will be very happy with someone offering you a piece of bread. If you got the second one, you will still be happy. So do the third or fourth one. But when it comes to the fifth or sixth piece, you may be less happy with that. When it reaches to the seventh piece, you may become unhappy with the offer. It is usual consumers psychology. In the process, people increasing satisfaction of getting one more piece of bread is marginal utility. And just like full filling a bottle with water, people will finally reach a point that we are not able to accept more good or service or even the water will spill out which likes the satisfaction remain the same as the previous one additional unit. Reducing Employee Turnover in Hospitality Reducing Employee Turnover in Hospitality Introduction High level of employee turnover continues to be the most serious challenge in the hospitality industry (Hinkin amp; Tracey, 2000; Wasmuth amp; Davis, 1983). The hospitality industry has an exceptionally high turnover rate compared to other industries. * Definition of employee turnover Price (1977) defined employee turnover as the ratio of the number of organization members who have left during the period being considered divided by the average number of people in that organization during the period. Meanwhile, Woods and Schmidgall (1995) focused on the entire process in the organization during a period. They prefer to employee turnover as each time a position is vacated,... In other words, high turnover is more likely to provide poor customer service and can ultimately lead to customer dissatisfaction. Anecdotal evidence illustrates that in a company experiencing 150% turnover, customers are continually being served by new employees (Wood amp; Macaulay, 1989). Strategies of Reducing Employee Turnover Imagine you have been working late to finish an important project when your project manager walks into your office and tells you she has been offered a better job. This is the same person you handpicked, trained, and recently gave a pay raise. As she turns to depart she says, There are others thinking about leaving too. What went wrong? How are you going to finish this project? Who will be next to leave? The dread is starting to sink in (Smith, 2007). As Employers, they face enormous challenges when they consider the increasing difficulty of finding skilled people, a more demanding younger workforce, and a growing population of older workers heading toward retirement. Money and benefits are important, but studies show most employees leave for other reasons. Obviously, a certain degree of turnover is unavoidable, but with a small amount of effort organizations can make a major difference. For a company to develop a retention strategy, employers must ... Adoption in America been ruled by a stigma. For much too long, those who could not have children, unwed mothers, and the children born out of wedlock have been shamed and humiliated. I believe it is time for these supposedly disgraceful ideas to go by the wayside, and we begin hold onto the idea that all families are beautiful things, no matter how they are composed or how they came about. There is no shame in being an infertile couple, an unwed mother, or a child with unwed parents. Two facets comprise this issue: the social and the legal. Proposed social impacts of open records are the increase or decrease of abortions and adoptions, birth parents right to privacy, the forcing of unwanted relationships with adoptee children, and the undermining of the integrity of the adoptive family. Proposed legal impacts of open records are the violation of privacy to the family, right of reproductive privacy, and a birth a mother s equal rights with a father s (because of more birth mother s names being provided in comparison to father s names). Those in opposition to open records say that it will increase abortions and decrease adoption because abortion is confidential and adoption is not. • 20. The Development of Antibiotic Resistance For many years people have wondered why the antibiotics that are used so commonly nowadays are not as effective as they once were. Just like organisms evolve throughout time, resistance to certain things can also evolve. This resistance however is not something that happens naturally but rather is a man made process which was caused via the misuse, overuse, and/or underuse of antibiotics (Davies 2010). The author Davies explains that there is no better example of the Darwinian notions of selection and survival than the spread of antibiotic resistanceand how the bacteria have evolved with traits that make them that way. The more people use antibiotics, especially when not necessary, the higher the chance of bacteria in the body growing resistant to those antibiotics. Major problems have arisen such as cells becoming resistant to antibiotics because its selection pressure is reduced or eliminated. This means that one must counteract this by continually increasing the antibiotic concentration in proportion to the increased resistance (Rosenthal and Elowitz 2012). To understand how bacteria became resistant to antibiotics, one must first understand the origin of antibiotics and its introduction into the body. Once these antibiotics were discovered and first started being used, it was not long after that that they regrettably were accompanied by the appearance of some resistant strains as well. The development of antibiotic resistance is persistent especially because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book series infatuated the hearts of teenage girls across the world, and even expanded upon those horizons to reach an audience so wide that the book series became a household name. Critics have endlessly discussed the love, or lust, of the two individuals and are fascinated by the fact that the TwilightSaga falls not just in the genre of romance, but also in the supernatural/ horror category. Maple, in an article that discusses this barrier breaking love that Bella and Edward display, states throughout the story Bella and Edward share an unorthodox relationship, a love above and beyond all others: something more expressive of eternal commitment (Maple). Maple emphasizes how deep and rare the love between the two adolescents is, and I would argue that human s innate desire for this kind of love is one of the main reasons why Twilight became so widespread. • 37. Exploring the Purpose of the Indian Gaming Regulation Act... When the word Native American is mentioned, the first thing most people will think of is Indian gaming. As many people know, only Native Americans can conduct gaming while people from other ethnicity cannot. This leads to the belief that it is an indirect way for the American government to repay the tribal government for taking their lands. This is partially true. The right to conduct gaming on reservations begins with the Indian Gaming Regulation Act (IGRA). Since its establishment in 1988, hundreds of tribes are able to negotiate an agreement with the governments to operate casinos on reservation lands. However, this is not the only intention of IGRA. To many Americans, IGRA is a compromise between the American government and the tribal government because it enables tribes to support themselves, while it meets the Congress intention of opening more jobs to control poverty related crimes. According to a survey by the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA) in 2006, as much as 75% of Americans believe that Indians benefit from gaming ( The Economic Impact of Indian Gaming in 2006 ). It is approximated that the tribal gaming industry generates $15.9 billion in revenue in 2003 ( National Indian Gaming Association ), and has created over 550,000 jobs (Light and Rand, 85). Even though there is only a small change in the number of crimes as a result of casinos, it is enough to conclude that crime rates were reduced, but not in an overwhelming way (Light and Rand, 97). On the contrary, Native Americans believe that it is a one sided negotiations that gives the state and federal government power over tribal authority (Light and Rand, 3). Kenya and South Africa have always had limited water resources, and now with their population continuing to grow, an increase in the demand for water is needed now more than ever before. Water plays a crucial role in continuing to help the continent of Africa develop and grow. This lack of water affects food security, impoverished people, and their health. Imagine spending one third of your day collecting water from the nearest source, which may be miles away. This is the case for many women and children in Kenya. And, in South Africa, there is an image of a town lined with buckets of people waiting to collect their water for the day. The water is brought to these areas by an undependable truck, one that may not show up at all. Most people in rural South Africa are entirely dependant on groundwater, which comes from wells and pumps. What can the parent and child do together that would be rewarding at the end. A child must have a consistent learning experience. Educators and parents can work together to build a schedule that can flow between home life and school life. It is important for a child to be treated consistently and an educator can aid a parent in the methods used for education to ensure a similar learning experience at home and at school. Consistency is important for a special needs child to succeed. Without consistency, a special needs child can feel too overwhelmed and sometimes unwilling to work because the task might be too hard for the child. Finally, it is very important for educators to prepare parents beforehand. A parent who is not prepared might see something that appears far too complex to understand, but with the proper training, they will be prepped on the concepts behind the teacher s actions before an unconventional method was used. Why programs? There are many programs that can provide parent training on their special need s child such as PACER and local centers like Challenge Family Resource Center CFRC in Merced, Ca. • 49. The Gilded Age And The Second Industrial Revolution The Gilded Age is known as the Second Industrial Revolution because of the major increase in factories and production (Foner 593). During this time the United States controlled more than a third of the world s industrial output. This led to approximately 11 million people moving from the rural areas to the city, and another 25 million immigrants moving into America (Foner, 596). Because of the increase in population, freedom and safety were harder to maintain. Freedom was hard for everyone who was not a wealthy, white male. This was proven when the Indians of the Gilded Age were fighting for their freedom. One major occurrence was the famous saying from Chief Joseph, Let me be a free man . Chief Joseph was the leader of the Nez Perce (Foner, 615). He wanted to confront an issue that not only his tribe but also other tribes were struggling with, which was being confined to reservation life (Foner, 615). This was the U.S. s first example of a strike. Many more strikes occurred in the progressive era when women were battling gender roles and individuality. Women established feminism , which was a gender liberation of females during the progressive era (Foner, 703). Another major idea of freedom was presented in the workplace called The Miner s Freedom (Foner, 607). It was established in the Gilded Age for worker s economic independence (Foner, 607). The Miner s Freedom was for the trustworthy, skilled workers who did not have to have managerial supervision at all times (Foner, 607, 610). In the progressive era, there was Fordism. Fordism was a step towards mass production, which fueled the economic system by having more of the same products for the consumers (Foner, 693). Freedom was hard to maintain because of political corruption and the mishandling of the economy. Overall, the bourgeois dominated the proletariat. Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and William Vanderbilt are three examples of political figures. Carnegie had steel company, in which he was in control of every aspect from raw materials to manufacturing, distribution, and transportation (Foner, 599). Rockefeller bought out all of the competing oil companies and controlled every facet of them as well (Foner, 599). Vanderbilt controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ending Welfare Ending Welfare as We Know It by Meredith Vieira Before Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) became what it is known as today, it was called Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC). AFDC was a grant program created to allow states to fund cash welfare payments for needy children who struggle with parental support because of a father or mother s absence, unemployment, incapacity, or death. It was established by the Social Security Act of 1935. When President Clinton signed the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) in 1996, it replaced AFDC and its administration, the Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS) program, and the Emergency Assistance (EA) program with TANF, a cash welfareblock grant. AFDC seems to work for Elba compared to TANF. In my opinion, I feel that the policies are actually helpful because it is designed for women to focus on other ways for support, instead of the sole reliance of welfare. I believe the policies promote self sufficiency and responsibility by requiring minors to continue their education. It also encourages women to work towards a more financially stable future. Some of the things are a glimpse of what the future could imply to us and form a platform from which important things will be built. In the last few centuries, the dancing industry in the world had not been considered as an important art, and therefore, dancing was basically done informally for entertaining oneself or for layman s reasons.
