Analysis Of The Mouse By H. H Munro
The Mouse is a short story written by H.H Munro. The main characters are Theodoric, the mouse,
and the blind lady. The author Munro writes the story in third person and uses an omniscient view.
The setting of the story takes part in the vicarage, the stable, and the ends in train compartment. The
tone used by the author to engage his readers is an exciting, thrilling fast paced tone that bring the
characters to life. To strengthen the thrilling exciting tone, the author uses phrases such as: he was
not even alone in his own clothes. A warm, creeping movement over his flesh betrayed the
unwelcome and highly resented presence, unseen but poignant, of a strayed mouse. After reading
the quote above, I as the reader was drawn into the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the dual ownership (Munro, 1). As the struggle continues Theodoric realizes he is in a delimma,
Theodoric still has an hour before he will possibly be able to rid the mouse (Munro, 1). It was
unthinkable to that he should continue for the space of the whole hour... and how can he
undress in front of a lady without a reasonable explanation: an idea that made his ears tingle in a
blush of abject shame (Munro, 1). The author continues to thrill his audience as thoedoric
undresses to get rid of the mouse: As the unravelled mouse gave a wild leap, the rug slipping it s
fastening at either end (Munro, 1) The author gives an action packed scene that the author
literally is playing a movie through his words (Munro, 1). After Theodoric had taken the clothes
off, mouse was gone and the lady wakes up, Theodricra uses rug to the cover himsel in full
shame and terror Munro, 1). Theodoric starts by trying to explain to the lady why he was
covering himself in a rug, and half clothed (Munro, 1). Theodore stsrts by saying maybe he had
gotten malaria and and that he was feeling chilly, later to give in and explain that it was the mouse
(Munro, 1). After all the ackwardness and shame from Theodoric, the lady did not seem to care
one way or another about Theodoric being half naked (Munro, 1). Once the scene

Essay about Mentorship In Louise Erdrich s Tracks
Mentorship: From Childhood to the Man
Louise Erdrich explores the inner conflicts of an Indian tribe in her novel Tracks. By the end of
the novel, the tribes accord is broken by the lure of the white man s money and land reform. The
divisions among the tribe are epitomized by the physical separation of the Chippewa people into
different colors that correspond to their different land allotments. However, one chapter in
particular contrasts with the tribe s tendency towards discord. Chapter 5, in which Nanapush and
Eli overcome their differences and unite in an attempt to avoid starvation lends hope to the ominous
series of events throughout Tracks which show conflict developing from unity. The great snow
storm they experience together not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that the interpretation here is very strong because Nanapush is going through his own
personal struggles from within that he now has a decision to make. Does he write Eli off and
deal with his own issues or does he put his own issues aside and deal with Eli? Instead of the
typical either or, he incorporated the two issues. He addressed the issue of land ownership and
illiteracy amongst the people of the tribe to Eli, as well as helping him the concept that Fleur wasn
t going to stop living her life because he wasn t around in her life anymore either.
But Eli still didn t bounce back to reality just yet, there were still more lessons to be learned. For
instance, coming over to another man s house as a visitor and eating up all of his food. The book
records that 6 days later that they were without food. And Nanapush new that first in order to
survive, one must have nutritional food. Nanapush wasn t going to sit there and starve to death
because of one man agony. He believed it was time for Eli to face his adversities head on, and
deal with consequences at they followed. This is a wonderful part in the story because we see that
Nanapush is fed up.
On the seventh day I handed him his gun. He looked at it in surprise, but finally went north. (P.100

Within this moment, Eli realized that wallowing in agony, pity, and shame wouldn t put food on
the table. It wasn t going to solve any of his problems. And by recognizing this he was able to clear

The International Monetary Fund And The World Bank Were
The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank were formed at the Britton Woods
Conference in New Hampshire, United States, in 1944. They were designed as the mainstay of the
post war global economic order. The World Bank s focus is the provision of long term loans to
support development projects. The IMF concentrates on providing loans to stabilize countries with
short term financial crises
Critics of the World Bankand IMF have argued that policies implemented by African Countries,
intended to control inflation and generate foreign exchange to help pay off the IMF debts, often
result in increased unemployment, poverty and economic polarization thereby impeding
sustainable development.

In 1980, Zimbabwe after being liberated, the government vigorously invested in all sectors of the
economy (health, education, mining, universal access to services but this in turn led to the
government budget deficits in the mid 1980s and forced the government to look for ways to
finance its excessive expenditure. Zimbabwe was then persuaded to implement ESAP. The
programme was to run from year 1991 to 1995.
ESAP was a package with instruments to be adhered to, and these were the components:
1.Reduction of government expenditure through privatization
2.Removing wage controls
3.Removing controls on exchange rates
4.Removing subsidies on basic goods
5.Removal of price control measures
The basis of these components was to let the market control the economy and reduce government
bills thereby cutting the expenditure. Although the neo liberalists favor the IMF and WB reform
packages, the ESAP were to a larger extent disastrous in the different sectors of the economy
ranging from people s lives, health, education, agriculture and the macro and micro economy in
Zimbabwe. According to Dhliwayo (2001), the decision to want a major economic reform
programs in Zimbabwe dates back to the beginning of the 1980s, with the main aim of attracting aid
from international donors so that the country might close both the resource and trade gaps in order
to meet its economic targets. The ESAP was sought to transform Zimbabwe s

Supply Chain 2
Supply Chain Management plays a vital role in our hospitals today. With the growing cost of
healthcare and new technologies, it is vital for hospitals to run as efficiently as possible and
without jeopardizing care. To the materials manager and to the financial minds of a hospital the
area of supply chain is a tedius task at best, the kind of planning, strategizing and measuring that
seldom goes recognized and rewarded. The work involved with inventory control fits tightly within
that description.
In many hospitals today, it is easy for inventory control to go astray and ... Show more content on

Until that time comes, if ever, there needs to be another solution.
There is no quick fix, but I will start with a list of criteria that will help us better control I Cares
inventory, understand what is being spent, where it is being spent and areas where we can cut
costs on supplys, which according to ASCET (Achieving Supply Chain Excellence through
Technology) makes up between 25 and 30% of a hospitals operating costs.
1. Understand your spend. Knowing exactly what you are keeping in inventory, where it comes
from, and how it s received, handled and stored is critical to inventory reduction efforts. There are
many programs that can gather and track this data, but technology is an enabler not a solution.
There must still be business processes in place to analyze this data to make it worthwhile.
2. Rationalize SKUs. This requires data about what SKUs are being used, by whom, and for what.
This is the biggest challenge, but armed with this information, you ll be able to impact inventory
levels, SKU proliferation, leverage substitutes and alternates or even the need to stock certain
materials at all.
3. Leverage key strategic partners/distributors for information and just in time services which will
substitute inventory stockpiles. This means you get only what you need. And, should you need
more of a product on occasion, you know exactly where to find it.

A Response To Sunset Boulevard
A Response to Sunset Boulevard (1950) A film noir is defined by Webster dictionary as: a type
of movie about crime that uses dark shadows and lighting to show the complicated moral nature
of the subject. Sunset Boulevard is an excellent example of this type of film due to the intense
atmosphere, the suspenseful and melancholy background music that coordinates with the scenes,
and also other things. The film is centered around one main idea: the characters tiptoeing around
Norma Desmond s mental illness. Though Norma has been out of the acting career for 20 years,
her biggest dream is to make a comeback. She still considers herself a star, and believes her way of
redeeming herself is by writing a film and starring in it. However, after hiring

#3. The valley passage is a safer option than going over the mountain. For example, there is a
greater possibility of injury traveling over the mountain. The mountain route is even more
difficult because I have an injured left hand. There is the possibility of a storm, making the trail
more difficult. However, one disadvantage of the valley passage is time. I need to be back at the
claims office in two weeks. The valley passage takes at least two weeks of travel time. Therefore
the likely hood of getting there time is slim. Going over the mountain will take 7 to 10 days. I

I would choose to send Pat. The goal is to get back to the claims office within two weeks. By
taking the valley passage, it takes 14 days to get back. Now with the ankle injury, it will slow me

would be back in time for the claims office. However, Pat has a drinking issue, and is not bright.
I would rather have a 50 50 split with Pat, than not get any money at all. Even if I do not arrive in
time, there is still the possibility I could end up with the money. Although, I would most likely
get out bid at auction. First, I would work with Pat to come up with a plan. Then I would have to
communicate with him and teach him how to correctly file a claim. I would advise him to not
drink until after he has made the claim and communicate the importance of getting the claims
office before the 14 days are up. I would reward Pat by offering a 50 50 split. I believe that offering
a 50 50 split may steer him away from drinking. After he feels confident that he can file a claim
correctly, I would send him on his way. I would give my ankle a few days rest to heal up, and then
I would finish the rest of the

The I-Other Duality
Zygmunt Bauman best describes the self/other duality where identities are set up in dichotomies in
this quote:
Woman is the other of man, animal is the other of human, stranger is the other of native,
abnormality the other of norm, deviation the other of law abiding, illness the other of health,
insanity the other of reason, lay public the other of the expert, foreigner the other of state subject,
enemy the other of friend.
The question of the Other the one different from yourself and those similar to yourself is ideal for
exploration within science fiction, which has always stretched the boundaries of what is possible
and imaginable. The Other can be different from the Self in its sex, income, language, race,
anatomy, etc., and Le Guin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Gethenians, being unique in the Hainish universe should by all accounts be the ultimate Other,
different in not only culture but in their physiology, but the Ekumen subverts the I Other duality
metaphorized as androgyny , by sending the Envoy alone, isolated from his own world to
experience Gethen as an Other himself. Gethenians themselves struggle with the fear of the other in
the face of the Envoy and patriotism , but it is Genly Ai himself who undergoes the biggest change
as he begins to see Gethenians, and his comrade Estraven especially, as fellow human beings. In a
scene on the ice, after Estraven and Ai have become closer, they say good night to each other
using first names, and Ai is so alienated by the whole experience, that he describes them both as
aliens as if he was a third person narrator . The sense of slowly becoming equals matures even more
when they discover that they have similar motivations that made them exiles from their

Example Of A Zombie Apocalypse
My neighbors and extended family members are not ready for a catastrophe. They have no
emergency kits for each of the members in their household, and have never attended any survival
classes. Some member s believe that owning guns and some cans of food is sufficient for a
catastrophe. In the event that a major catastrophe does happen I want my familyand neighbor s
prepared with survival skills and supplies until help comes, if at all.
The four resources I found regarding a zombie apocalypse provided some background about the
same topic but not the same solution. Some give examples such as an emergency list provided by
the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for citizens, incase of a zombie apocalypse. Others
give examples such as shooting ranges that are currently luring people in, to prepare for zombies
by changing their targets to zombies instead of humans or animals. What these four resources do
not provide are ideal emergency plans depending on the amount of family members per household,
and recommended survival classes for civilians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A person s house can show you a lot about that person. In my own room you would probably find
that I have a big appreciation for books, but don t you wonder what the inventor and third president

are many more sides to him than you think. Initially, the Northeast Portico displays Thomas
Jeffersons deep appreciation for Architecture. Jefferson himself got the idea for this wall from
James Gibb s Book of Architecture. He used the book and designed a wall based on one of his
designs. The original blueprint was supposed to be used for an octagonal structure, and Jefferson

Next, his Mandan Buffalo Robe also shows his understanding of history and the arts. Most
painted robes were used as traditional clothing and articles of trade for Native Americans. Some
of these robes are painted with a scene usually a scene that the person receiving the robe fought
in. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark sent a package to Thomas Jefferson filled with seven
buffalo robes one that had a painted scene. Putting a piece from a famous expedition shows that
he is aware that he must preserve a piece of history so that s other can look back at this piece of
history. Thomas Jefferson understands the History and Arts very much, so his Entry Hall reflects
this part of him.
Jefferson s love of people and games are evident in the parlor room. The Parlor Room was filled
with many paintings of important figures and friends of Jefferson s. Benjamin Franklin, George
Washington, and Thomas Jefferson Randolph are just some of the many paintings included in
the parlor. He had used this room as a place to invite friends and colleagues to come over and
play games and have fun. Jefferson included many chairs, in this room to have lots of people over
and allow them to sit down whenever they would like too. The parlor room was often a place for
family weddings, dances, and christenings. A wedding is a cheerful ceremony between two families

Corruption Of Independence In William Bradbury s...
Montag gained a further understanding of what independence meant from this example. Soon
after that initial conversation, Clarisse and Montag have another shocking conversation.
Clarisse questions Montag s occupation and why he is a firefighter, which upsets him, and
makes him uncomfortable. On page 23, Clarisse states, How did it start? How did you get into
it? How did you pick your work and how did you happen to think to take the job you have? You
re not like the others. I ve seen a few; I know. When I talk, you look at me. When I said
something about the moon, you looked at the moon, last night. The others would never do that.
The others would walk off and leave me talking. Or threaten me. No one has time anymore for
anyone else. You re one of the few who put up with me. That s why I think it s so strange you re
a fireman, it just doesn t seem right for you, somehow. Clarisse deeply questions Montag s
behavior, and exposes his potential independence. She asks about why he chose the work that he
did, followed by her interpretation of Montag. She notices that Montag listens to her, and that he
does things that other firemen don t do. He respects Clarisse, and lets her speak her mind. Clarisse
mentions that he is different from the others, and this is very important. He was independent, and

Mythology And Its Impact On Society
Mythology has and always will play a huge role in a people s life. It is human nature to ask
questions and want answers. This is where mythology comes in and gives people that answers.
Mythology also can take form in religion which has been practiced over 300,000 years ago (Wise
Geek, 2014). Belief, and knowledge that a person has, has a huge impact the choices and beliefs of
mythologyand religion. Even in the contemporary culture of today mythology still plays a huge role
in.
Myths are a way that humans can explain the impossible or the unexplainable. Callisto and Ursa
Major is a myth that was used in the past to explain the stars and the constellations. Myths also
help people through life by giving them hope, something to believe in, or my inspiring them. An
example of a doctor telling a very sick patient that it is possible to get better or that a cure will
soon be found for their illness. Myths can be used to explain the origin of life and many other
things. The bible for example explains how lives begin on Earth.
One of the most common mythological themes across the different cultures, and throughout
history is origin of people and who created people also known as religion. The earliest evidence of
religion was 300,000 years ago. It was speculated that a ritual burial site that was found from
300,000 years ago was due to religion (Wise Geek, 2014). Two of the oldest religions are
Shamanism, and Animism. Some of the oldest religions are still practiced today.

Trade Barriers In International Trade
With economic globalization, international trade is developing and growing at an unprecedented
rate. After China joined the WTO, international trade tariffs reduced significantlyпј›many non tariff
barriers were also reduced. However, some countries have adopted some new trade restrictions in
order to protect their industries and markets. The green barrier policy is a kind of trade protection
means which has been frequently used by the developed countries since the 1990s, it has created
unequal trade relations for a vast number of developing countries and caused huge economic losses
to these developing countries. It has become the new obstacle for international trade. Briefly, the
problems are: first, an increase in the cost of enterprises, affecting the international competitiveness
of enterprises and second, the implementation of green trade barriers hindering the development of
the Chinese export trade. This essay will examine these problems in more detail and seek to offer
possible solutions. One problem that trade barriers have caused is that they increase the cost of
enterprises, affecting the international competitiveness of enterprises. For a long time, due to the
low technological content of Chinese export products, mainly to win international markets at low
prices, the developed countries have adopted some ways, such as the green subsidy system, the
green packaging system, the green fortress and so on. By imposing import surcharges, increasing

Personal Narrative My Discovery While Fishing with Dad
Go get in the boat, I told my twenty month old son, Adam.
I finished grabbing his lifejacket, toys and the snacks out of the car. I caught up to him just before

Do you need help up? I asked him, stooping down to his level.
He replied by lifting his arms up. We walked down the flimsy dock with me balancing everything
and stopped when we reached the boat.
Will you help him into the boat? I asked my mom.
Sure, she responded and alley ooped him over the side. I handed my armload in and sat down in

Adam gave it kisses .
By this time it s been about fifteen minutes and my impatient self is getting a little restless.
Dad, I called. Why am I not catching fish? Why aren t they bitin?
I guess I don t have an answer for you, Dad sarcastically said.
Hey Dad? I asked again. Why is it so windy?
Again daughter of mine, I do not know the answer.
So I let off a little. Knowing that if I didn t, he would use me for fish bait. I then turned my

Carrie, I called to the front of the boat, How s the fishin going?
Not to good, she answered. I m not catchin nothing.
Hearing her say this, made me feel a lot less like a loser. I stuck with it for a time longer and I

The Importance Of Civilization In Iowa City
Civilizations are culturally created environments in which we follow rules, standards, and ethical
behaviors. Iowa City offers multiple signs of civilization, including public vs. private land,
religious vs. secular, and the presence of central control. Through these five characteristics we can
identify and interpret what the environment is explaining to us. My area of choice is northern Iowa
City, which has an environment that tells me it is a civilization through rhetorical elements
provided in the use of space and materials that create it. In Northern IowaCity public space is
common. Happy Hollow Park offers an open landscape with sidewalks and free access. The
pathways invite civilians in and show them where they may go, but do not impose any rules on
where they must go. The basketball court and baseball field have no walls or barricades
blocking entry, allowing us to know they are available for whoever pleases. An outdoor pavilion
could be used for family gatherings and parties at no cost. A free parking lot with good lighting
tells civilians that there is nothing restricting their access to the space. This space is known as
public due it s ease of entry and the way the park invites civilians in with pathways and block free
attractions. Therefore, Happy Hollow Park represents public space as an area that invites every
civilian to explore and go as they please. Private space is popular in IowaCity due to the amount of
residential housing. The housing in Iowa City

Auteurism In The Dark Knight
Introduction Considering the collaborative process of filmmaking, especially nowadays in most
film production, the concept of there being a singular creative supervisor is debatable.
Nonetheless one cannot deny the existence and driving force of directional motifs and instances of
thematic and stylistic elements within the work of filmmakers like Tim Burton and Alfred
Hitchcock. These directors indicate that within traditions and genres lies the overall definition of
an auteur: a director whose inventive traits are listed throughout his or her work like a signature.
Auteurism rose to the surface in the 1950s French New Wave criticism as an appraisal of
Hollywood directors who were ready to deny the rules of the studio system and create films... Show

Analysis Of The Tomb Painting Queen Nefertari And Isis
Analysis of the tomb painting Queen Nefertari and Isis, by an unknown artist.
Pigment painting on tomb walls.
Queen and Goddess
In this formal analysis, the subject is the wall painting Queen Nefertari and Isis, located in
Nefertaris tomb. The painting shows the ancient Egyptian Goddess Isis leading the Queen by the
hand. Nefertari lived around 1300 1255 BC and was the first and exclusively claimed wife of the
Egyptian pharaoh Ramses II.
When analyzing the artwork one can see the influence of what we now understand to be art form,
through the numerous art elements the painting of Queen Nefertari and Isis has. Starting with lines,
the artist uses many types of both regular and irregular, to create the hieroglyphics and the shape of
the women along with what they wear. The ancient Egyptians liked to have things in order and
consistent. We see the proof for this behind their canon of proportions method. In order to make
complex figures easier to depict, the traditional style and trademark of ancient Egyptian
artworks show everything drawn or carved to be two dimensional in shape. However, they also
wanted to show the aspects they valued the most as a society. As stated in the film How Art
Made The World, in the case of the human body ancient Egyptian chose to show each body part
from its clearest angel; and as a result of a keeping the figures 2 D, the chest is shown straight on,
the face is shown in profile but the eyes were drawn straight on, the arms and hands can be

Formaldehyde Research Paper
Formaldehyde is a colorless and flammable gas. It is used in many cosmetic products to aid in
preventing bacteria growth. This chemical can be found in many different personal care products
including nail polish, body washes, shampoos, cleansers, eye shadows, and nail polish treatments.
The most common side effect of Formaldehyde are allergic skinreactions. It has been found to
cause irritation of the eyes, nose, and skin. But, it as also been linked to nasal and nasopharyngeal
cancers.
It is somewhat difficult to figure out if your cosmetics contain Formaldehyde because most product
labels won t tell you if it is or isn t present. However, you can figure it out yourself by checking for
various chemicals. Some chemicals that are related to Formaldehyde are DMDM hydantoin,
Imidazolidinyl urea, and Bronopol. In addition, there are some nail polish companies who do not

Hydroquinone
Hydroquinoe is a compound found in numerous skin products that is used for lightening skin. It is
contained in a lot of products that are aimed towards reducing the appearance of dark spots,
freckles, and acne scars. Hydroquinoe unfortunately does cause some dangerous health concerns.
For one, it causes skin irritation. Using this ingredient regularly can result in your skin starting to
irritate. Some people have even experienced extreme redness and itching when they applied it to
their skin.
There are many alternatives to using products that contain hydroquinone. If you are searching for a
skin whitening product, look for one that is made of natural ingredients such as mandelic acid and
alpha hydroxy acids. Using products with these natural ingredients are way safer than using
products that contain hydroquinone. However, remember that even though skin whitening can help
many skin problems, it should only be used for treating problem regions, not for using all over. Try
your best to be comfortable in the skin you already

Analyzing Carper s A Good Death
A Good Death by Carolyn Adams talks about being present while assessing a patient. Carolyn
Adams sits on the side of the patient s bed to talk to them so they feel like she is not in a rush to
get out of the room. Sometimes peoples standing posture shows that they are in a hurry to get
somewhere else. In this story is it expressed that palliative care nurses are not miracle workers,
they are there to allow the palliative patients to have a good death(SOURCE, PICARD, 2000). The
purpose of this assignment is to effectively reflect on a nurse s story, identify the themes that are
present and to integrate Carper s (1978) ways of knowing into the story. Throughout the nurse s
story there are multiple storied themes present, the ones that stuck... Show more content on

The nurse has to do research in order to know which method would be the best for each patient,
and to learn all the new strategies to keep the patients comfortable. The nurse s knowledge is
also up to date on all the kinds of new equipment such as mattresses that help prevent the patient
from getting bedsores. The nurse is aware that the only physical pain that is hard to treat and
control is neuropathic, this is determined through research. The nurse has gained knowledge
through their own person understanding and empath which is part of Carper s (1978) ways of
knowing through their experience of when their own grandfather was a patient before they were
in palliative care. They had an experience that they would never want a family to go through
when their loved one is dying. Through this experience it made the nurse want to go into
palliative care so they could use their new knowledge to try their best to make a family with a
dying loved one witness a good death . The nurse uses knowledge and attitudes built by an ethical
framework. The nurse listens to what the patients want allowing them to be in control of their life,
respecting their life, and doing what is right for the patient s well being. The nurse knows what the
patient wants in order to die a good death even if it means stopping treatment so that there is no
more pain but possibly a shorter life span. The nurse shows knowledge through the awareness of the
immediate situation and the awareness of the patient and their awareness of their circumstances as
a unique individual. The nurse takes their time with each patient in order to understand them. The
nurse has learned that during bath time is when the patient usually seems to speak the most and that
is when the nurse learns the most about the patient. (SOURCE)(CARPERS WAY OF

Film Techniques Used In 1984 And Metropolis By Fritz Lang
Language, history and belief are easily changed. It is through the manipulation and
representation of language, history and belief that gives elite, governing bodies power over the
masses. In Nineteen Eighty Four a novel by George Orwell, Orwell takes this readers to Airstrip
One, which is what remains of London in the year 2060 after many years of war. Airstrip one is
under constant surveillance through telescreens under the watchful eye of the Party and Big

futuristic mega city, which is operated by machines below the surface by many workers slaving
away in the subterranean workers city. In both Nineteen Eighty Four and Metropolis language,...

In the film Metropolis, Fritz Lang uses film techniques and specific genre devices to communicate
to the audience the ideas and concepts featured in Metropolis. Lang uses elements from both
Science Fiction and Dystopian film genres, as well as elements of German Expressionism to warn
future generations about the dangers of technology and science, human ambition and
industrialisation. The science fiction genre typically uses a futuristic setting, feature characters
that try to challenge or test the morals and boundaries of human ambition and science, has
technology that is incongruous with the time period of release and has a new political and
societal structure. The futuristic setting used in Metropolis is based upon New York City, which
Lang visited before making the film, the large skyscrapers represent man s ambition and are
symbolic of the Tower of Babel, from the Old Testament, which is a story about ambition and
rebellion. It is through these motif and techniques that Lang expresses his concerns for the future.
Elements such as the use of chiaroscuro, use of reflective surfaces, anthropomorphism and art
deco elements (seen in the long shots of the city) are all example of German Expressionism. The
use of chiaroscuro in the establishing shot of the city as well as the low key lighting created long,
deep shadows being cast across the city scape, which highlighted the grandness of the buildings and
also brings to attention the underlying message about ambition. The Robot Maria is an example of
anthropomorphism, by giving Maria s human like characteristics to the robot, Rotwang s
characterisation is also another science fiction element because of the use of futuristic technology
and he also tries to overstep ethical boundaries in creating the Robot Maria. Lang used all of these
elements in order to convey his very clear message about the dangers that technological

Essay on School Prayer Should Be Allowed
School Prayer Should Be Allowed
I attended twelve years of Catholic School. My parents consented to the decision of my
enrollment and they knew what was involved. They knew that the study of God and prayer was
mandatory. Prayer in school in my case produced and environment of discipline and respect for the
teachers. The involvement of my parents and the faculty in the use of prayer was in full agreement.
However, my view was not even considered important. My rights had been violated.

With the permission of the school a group of students could establish a prayer club. All these things
are legal, but what the government is trying to avoid is mandatory school prayer. Mandatory school
prayer is illegal and violates the constitution. It would contradict all separation between church and
state. If prayer in public school was made necessary the country would most likely be divided. You
would have the religious leader ecstatic about the freedom of prayer. Then you would have
offended non believers or believer of other denominatio ns or people who find the government too
controlling. With legalization of prayer, would come disruption in the way the government is run.
Whereby the beliefs of an individual, like the president or a member of congress, would set goals

religious beliefs would be against anything dealing with moral issues. The ideals of an individual
would then be imposed on another. Also the government, in giving permission to a prayer in

each major religion a prayer and read separately by individuals.
School prayer should be decided by the parents and the individual.

Invest In Driverless Cars
Driverless cars have long been in debate since Google made its announcement for an autonomous
car. Although driverless cars are feared because they may cause more accidents, the first
autonomous car accident was at the fault of a human. The advancements that driverless cars offer to
modern technology and its potential market deems itself more beneficial than not. Therefore,
automobilemanufacturing companies should invest in driverless cars.
Autonomous cars would be labeled as a disruptive innovation since its implementation could lead
to a lower demand for normal cars. This never before seen technology may very well be the new hit

has failed had been that it failed to commercialize its film technology due to its inability to adapt to

more insight on the profitability of the technology and train employees of its uses. Additionally, the
manufacturer could assess the demand for driverless cars by releasing a few self driving cars as a

the technology. The automobile manufacturer also would not fall too far behind in terms of

My Landslide Poem Meaning
The song Landslide performed by Fleetwood Mac has been a piece of my life for as long as I can
remember. I recall my sisters and I sitting at our kitchen table in Orlando reciting the words to
the song as easily as reading a book. Once we moved to Connecticut, this song still stayed apart
of our lives and I have continued to listen to this song consistently to this day. Over the years, the
meaning of the song has adapted to what I was going on to in life. As I grew older, the song
gained more meaning than when I would listen to it as child. When I was younger, around the age
of five, the song did not have much meaning to me. It was simply another song with a catchy
melody. I truly did not understand the point the artist was attempting to get across to the listener
through the metaphors in the lyrics. The meaning behind it was alien to me. I would sing the
words, but the significance behind the words I sang rung blank in my brain.... Show more content on

nothing I could do about it and I had to go no matter what. In the song, the songwriter questions
her ability to handle the next part of her life. She asks herself if she can handle whatever life has

the entire hierarchical structure of the castlerevolves around the ideals of serving those above me,

Ewing s Sarcoma Case Study
Ewing s sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that grows in the bones. It is usually found in longer
bones of the arms or legs. The thigh bone (femur) is the bone most often affected, followed by the
bones of the pelvis, lower leg, upper arm (humerus) and chest.
It is the second most common type of cancer found in children. Ewing s sarcoma typically occurs in
people between 10 and 20 years old. However, it can occur at any age.
CAUSES
No one knows exactly what causes Ewing s sarcoma. Certain changes in genes seem to cause this
cancer; but what causes those changes is not known. The cancer occurs in white males more than
any other group of people.
Other possible causes include:
Injury or damage to the bone.
Radiation from an earlier cancer treatment.
SYMPTOMS
The major signs and symptoms of Ewing s Sarcoma are:

The Problem Of Teen Suicide
Teen suicide is one of the leading causes of death among teens and a significant problem in the
United States. Consequently, suicide is a tragedy not only for that person, but also for their family
and friends that are left behind (Bell). Many teens of all races are affected by this intentional, self
inflicted death. Even though the causes of suicidecan be hard to isolate, the signs can be linked to
depression, drug abuse, emotional neglect of their parents, bullying, parents divorcing, sexual and
domestic abuse.
Sadness, feelings of lack of worthiness, uninterested in activities are all signs of depression.
Depression is a mood disorder and it is one of the most common signs that lead to suicide.
Teenagers let problems take over their live. If this mental disorder is identified in the early
stages, professional guidance may solve the problem (Bell). Time is the main factor for
depression. Emotional distress is usually what the teenager feels before attempting or completing
the act. The only way their behavior will improve is through professional help. Emotional neglect
of parents can affect teens in a way that is hard to believe. Parents are busy with their lives and
sometimes forget about their children s emotional needs. Therefore, the child feels their existence
no longer matters (Bell). Divorce is another catalyst in teen suicide. Teens that are in a middle of a

Some Of Common Misconceptions In Lullaby By Leslie Marrman...
1.)What are some of the common misconceptions about indigenous writers? In what ways do the
writers we ve read play on those stereotypes? Some of the common misconceptions is that
indigenous writers are that they could not speak English, uneducated, all lived in teepees, and
their medicine was primitive. The writers that we have read about dealt with these stereotypes
was by including hints and lines that these stereotypes are false. Lullaby by Leslie Marmon
Silko has a line about where the Indians stayed showing that they did not live in teepees. In this
story they lived in a boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live (pg 1545). Pawn Shop by
Sherman Alexie is a very short work that demonstrates that Indians are civilized. The man in the
story goes into a bar looking for all of his friends but can not find them so he leaves after the
bartender gives him a free drink for all of his troubles. I leave, searching the streets, searching
storefronts, until I walk into a pawn shop, find a single heart beating under glass, and I know
who it used to belong to, I know all of them (pg 1647). This works demonstrates that Indians are
just like normal people who go to shops, bars, and lose people along the way that they miss
dearly. 2.) Select one writer and write an extended reader response to his/her work. Why did you
like/dislike the work? Why? Lullaby by Leslie Marmon Silko is a work that is depressing. There
is real truth within it but it is saddening. The beginning of the story a woman is remembering
happier times and her family members. Jimmie, which I was not able to identify the relationship
between the women and Jimmie was being remembered and thought upon by the women. She
realizes that she should not dwell on him since he is not dead. Yet, one day a dark blue sedan
with white writing on its doors pulled up in front of the boxcar shack where the rancher let the
Indians live. A man in a khaki uniform trimmed in gold gave then a yellow piece of paper and
told them that Jimmie was dead (pg. 1545). The fact this woman found of that Jimmie was dead
and she was just telling herself that he was still alive to give herself hope is heartbreaking. I did

  • 4. Essay about Mentorship In Louise Erdrich s Tracks Mentorship: From Childhood to the Man Louise Erdrich explores the inner conflicts of an Indian tribe in her novel Tracks. By the end of the novel, the tribes accord is broken by the lure of the white man s money and land reform. The divisions among the tribe are epitomized by the physical separation of the Chippewa people into different colors that correspond to their different land allotments. However, one chapter in particular contrasts with the tribe s tendency towards discord. Chapter 5, in which Nanapush and Eli overcome their differences and unite in an attempt to avoid starvation lends hope to the ominous series of events throughout Tracks which show conflict developing from unity. Zimbabwe was then persuaded to implement ESAP. The programme was to run from year 1991 to 1995. ESAP was a package with instruments to be adhered to, and these were the components: 1.Reduction of government expenditure through privatization 2.Removing wage controls 3.Removing controls on exchange rates 4.Removing subsidies on basic goods 5.Removal of price control measures The basis of these components was to let the market control the economy and reduce government bills thereby cutting the expenditure. To the materials manager and to the financial minds of a hospital the area of supply chain is a tedius task at best, the kind of planning, strategizing and measuring that seldom goes recognized and rewarded. There are many programs that can gather and track this data, but technology is an enabler not a solution. There must still be business processes in place to analyze this data to make it worthwhile. 2. Rationalize SKUs. This requires data about what SKUs are being used, by whom, and for what. This is the biggest challenge, but armed with this information, you ll be able to impact inventory levels, SKU proliferation, leverage substitutes and alternates or even the need to stock certain materials at all. 3. It is through the manipulation and representation of language, history and belief that gives elite, governing bodies power over the masses. In Nineteen Eighty Four a novel by George Orwell, Orwell takes this readers to Airstrip One, which is what remains of London in the year 2060 after many years of war. Airstrip one is under constant surveillance through telescreens under the watchful eye of the Party and Big Brother. In the film Metropolis, Fritz Lang uses film techniques and specific genre devices to communicate to the audience the ideas and concepts featured in Metropolis. Lang uses elements from both Science Fiction and Dystopian film genres, as well as elements of German Expressionism to warn future generations about the dangers of technology and science, human ambition and industrialisation. The science fiction genre typically uses a futuristic setting, feature characters that try to challenge or test the morals and boundaries of human ambition and science, has technology that is incongruous with the time period of release and has a new political and societal structure. The futuristic setting used in Metropolis is based upon New York City, which Lang visited before making the film, the large skyscrapers represent man s ambition and are symbolic of the Tower of Babel, from the Old Testament, which is a story about ambition and rebellion. It is through these motif and techniques that Lang expresses his concerns for the future. Elements such as the use of chiaroscuro, use of reflective surfaces, anthropomorphism and art deco elements (seen in the long shots of the city) are all example of German Expressionism. The use of chiaroscuro in the establishing shot of the city as well as the low key lighting created long, deep shadows being cast across the city scape, which highlighted the grandness of the buildings and also brings to attention the underlying message about ambition. The Robot Maria is an example of anthropomorphism, by giving Maria s human like characteristics to the robot, Rotwang s characterisation is also another science fiction element because of the use of futuristic technology and he also tries to overstep ethical boundaries in creating the Robot Maria. Lang used all of these elements in order to convey his very clear message about the dangers that technological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It would contradict all separation between church and state. If prayer in public school was made necessary the country would most likely be divided. You would have the religious leader ecstatic about the freedom of prayer. Then you would have offended non believers or believer of other denominatio ns or people who find the government too controlling. With legalization of prayer, would come disruption in the way the government is run. I recall my sisters and I sitting at our kitchen table in Orlando reciting the words to the song as easily as reading a book. Once we moved to Connecticut, this song still stayed apart of our lives and I have continued to listen to this song consistently to this day. Over the years, the meaning of the song has adapted to what I was going on to in life. As I grew older, the song gained more meaning than when I would listen to it as child. When I was younger, around the age of five, the song did not have much meaning to me. It was simply another song with a catchy melody. • 39. Some Of Common Misconceptions In Lullaby By Leslie Marrman... 1.)What are some of the common misconceptions about indigenous writers? In what ways do the writers we ve read play on those stereotypes? Some of the common misconceptions is that indigenous writers are that they could not speak English, uneducated, all lived in teepees, and their medicine was primitive. The writers that we have read about dealt with these stereotypes was by including hints and lines that these stereotypes are false. Lullaby by Leslie Marmon Silko has a line about where the Indians stayed showing that they did not live in teepees. In this story they lived in a boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live (pg 1545). Pawn Shop by Sherman Alexie is a very short work that demonstrates that Indians are civilized. The man in the story goes into a bar looking for all of his friends but can not find them so he leaves after the bartender gives him a free drink for all of his troubles. I leave, searching the streets, searching storefronts, until I walk into a pawn shop, find a single heart beating under glass, and I know who it used to belong to, I know all of them (pg 1647). This works demonstrates that Indians are just like normal people who go to shops, bars, and lose people along the way that they miss dearly. 2.) Select one writer and write an extended reader response to his/her work. Why did you like/dislike the work? Why? Lullaby by Leslie Marmon Silko is a work that is depressing. Yet, one day a dark blue sedan with white writing on its doors pulled up in front of the boxcar shack where the rancher let the Indians live. A man in a khaki uniform trimmed in gold gave then a yellow piece of paper and told them that Jimmie was dead (pg. 1545).
