The Harmful Effects of Student Loan Debt and Attainable Resolutions Largely because of the $1.3
trillion worth of outstanding student loan debt in the United States, most young adult college
graduates are in stressful, limiting, and precarious situations as they attempt to launch their lives into
adulthood. Indeed, some have dubbed the Millennial generation the boomerang generation because
after college so many graduates are moving back in with their parents rather than getting their own
homes and beginning their own independent paths (Austin 329). Some studies show that as many as
one half of college graduates are either unemployed or underemployed, the latter meaning either part

The combination of inadequately paying work together with great outstanding loans limits college
graduates from participating fully in society as adults. For instance, indicators of adulthood and full
participation include a stable career, a long term relationship, family, a home, retirement savings, and
owning material necessities such as a vehicle. When we take into account all of the burdens that tens
of thousands of dollars of student loans, it is apparent that this debt impacts just about every aspect of
life for graduates. One study by American Student Assistant (ASA) found that around a quarter of
student loan debtors have difficulty buying daily necessities because of student loans, while over half
indicated that their debt disallows them to make larger purchases like a car, and three quarters of
respondents said that they were putting off savings for retirement because of their loans (Life
Delayed... 3). Further, almost half reported that student debt has delayed their decision to start a
family (Life Delayed...3). From the normal day to day to the largest and most important aspects of life
such as starting a family, student loan debt is oppressively bearing down on graduates. Another major
way that student loan debt affects graduates is how it influences what kind of jobs they will take. With
debt looming overhead, graduates often do not have time to seek out a job that is

facilities to many and also offer vast recreational and economic activities, and yet, at the same time,
such eco regions require to be managed with special emphasis and consideration of its natural and
cultural resources. Land cover classification of such diverse sea land regions requires a high level of
effort and plays a vital role for the analysis of time based or event based change on certain areas. For
effective utilization of remote sensed images obtained from Earth orbiting satellites, a lot of image
classification methods are available in literature. In this paper, we use the method of unsupervised
classification for the users convenience and flexibility, low computational requirements and moderate
classification accuracy. The objectives of the paper is to classify the land cover by mapping the region
into W S V (Water, Soil, Vegetation) components using the unsupervised K means algorithm, to obtain
land use/cover gray scale image combining the W S V components and thereby finally deriving the
related performance metrics such as histogram and land cover correlation. Keywords Clustering,

Essay on The Comanche Indians
The Comanche Indians
The Comanche have most recently been found in the Southern Plains, which stretches from Nebraska
to the northern part of Texas. They were fully in Texas by the 1700 s. It is believed that the Comanche
derived from the Shoshone Indians, found in Wyoming. The language spoken by the Comanche is
actually a form of Uto Aztecan language that when compared to the Shoshone language, the two are
very similar. The Comanche s were great warriors and did not really indulge in religious practices too
much nor did they use folktales or legends very often. The Comanche s economy was mostly based on
their lifestyle. Comanche s were bands, not tribes, who would raid neighboring villages. This is one of
the reasons why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They migrated from a mountainous region to the plains were they were frequently encountered with
the Jumano, Pueblo and Apache Indians along with the Spanish. The Comanche were such skilled
warriors, that they were able to push the Indian groups further south and further west, they kept the
Spanish in the southern part of Texas and prevented them from venturing north, and they also gave
American settlers a very difficult time. The Comanche were very skilled horsemen. They were the
most feared Indians on horses. It is actually said that the Comanche were the best Indian horsemen
warriors ever. They had remarkable ability and skill on horses. The Comanche first met the Spanish
around the late 1600 s. The most prominent contribution from the Spanish was the horse. The horse
helped strengthen the Comanche. The Spanish would not benefit too much from trading with the
Comanche. Most of the trading done was usually for things or persons stolen by the Comanche, which
the Spanish wanted back. Most of the time it was people. The Comanche would also encounter some
American and German settlers in the late 1700 s early 1800 s. However, the Comanche didn t really
trade with them, they would just steal horses, cattle, possessions and women and children, which they
would sell back to the settlers of course. Traditionally the homeland of the Comanche was the northern
part of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and New Mexico. Currently most

Synthesis Essay On The Catcher In The Rye
Certain things, they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those
big glass cases and just leave them alone. In the novel ,Catcher in the Rye ,by J.D Salinger, Holden
Caulfield a teenage boy has a love for innocence or children and things staying the same. He has no
real idea of what will become of him and no one gives him the answer or even listens to him. This
novel is relevant to today s teenagers because people always try to tell us what we should do or
become but people can never tell you the answer or what you are going to become in the future that is
for you to figure out yourself. Also if you depend on others to tell you what you should do or be your

Change is inevitable, but Holden wants to defy just that although he can t. Holden states that, The best
thing, though, about the museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody d
move. Holden enjoyed everything staying how it was and not changing for him. If everything stayed
the same he would not have to worry about what would become of me or what would happen in the
future, he could just reminisce on the past and all the children would stay safe. This relates to me
because although going to college seems fun the idea of moving on and people I know growing up and
changing is scary and leaves uncertainty but if everything stayed the same there s nothing to fear.
To sum up the Catcher and the rye was a novel about a lost teen that ran away from school looking for
answers. He was caught up in wanting everything to stay the same and saving innocence. This novel is
relevant because it gives insight on a teen although fictional that is having a hard time figuring out his
future and most teens do. He looks at his elders and peers to find answers, but no one ever hears him
and neither can they give him the answer, although he can see what he wants to be it does not really

Benjamin Tappan Research Paper
Ravenna and the Universalist Church Benjamin Tappan, Jr., an attorney from Connecticut, was the
first person to settle in Western Reserve s Township 3, Range 8, now known as Ravenna, Ohio. His
father owned more than 10,000 acres in the southern two thirds of the township. Tappan Jr. moved
there in June 1799, traveling part of the way with David Hudson, who was on his way to settle the
nearby township bearing his name. With his father s power of attorney, Tappan Jr. divided the land
into 66 lots of about 160 acres each to be sold to settlers. He selected a site in the center of his land for
the town. Trumbull County covered the entire Western Reserve when Tappan first settled Ravenna
Township. By 1806, the population had grown enough for the land to be divided and Geauga County
was carved out. In February 1807, the Ohio Legislature passed an act creating Portage County, taking
some land from Geauga but most land came from what remained in Trumbull County. The temporary
county seat was Tappan s home and he was instrumental in convincing the county commissioners to
choose Ravenna as the permanent seat. In April, 1809, Benjamin Tappan, Jr. sold lots 55, 56, and 57 to
the county commissioners for the purpose of a courthouse and jail (Gregory, 34). Benjamin s brothers,
William and John, were contracted to build them. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bessie Coleman Qualities
In the perspective of a citizen of the United States in 1922, it seems almost impossible that a woman,
let alone an African American woman, would be responsible for changing the history of Texas and
greatly impacting the world of aviation. However, Bessie Coleman broke the mold when she became
the first African American to hold a pilot license. Among her qualities of isolation, insubordination,
and imprecision, which would typically viewed by society with a negative connotation, came her title
as one of the strongest women of her time. Throughout a span of 32 years, Coleman, who was born on
January 26, 1892, Coleman began to isolate herself at a young age. Even at a much older age,
Coleman attempted turning her inspirations into reality.

Labeling Deviant Behavior Essay
Introduction: Have you ever experienced a time when your parents called you a genius and you truly
felt like one? How about when a professor pointed fingers at you because he thought you were
cheating on a test? Most certainly you felt some type of shame or guilt; or probably got so tired of
your colleagues negative thoughts that you decided to embrace it and just go along with it. These are
just a few examples of the impact that people s opinions or thoughts can have on your reputation.
Think for a second about the Stanford Prison Experiment, which demonstrates the influential role that
a situation can play in human behavior. The individuals chosen to perform as guards were placed in a
position of power and thus they began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Labeling theorists suggest that labeling individuals as deviant has the potential of becoming a self
fulfilling prophecy (Globokar, 2008). Howard Becker has described deviance as a consequence of the
application by others of rules and sanctions to an offender ; the deviant is one to whom the label has
successfully been applied; deviant behavior is behavior people so label (Clinard Meier, 2011:89).
Culture, sex, age and other elements of identity all shape self conception, but the meanings that an
individual places on various circumstances and interactions certainly play a very important role as
well. It becomes difficult to normally interact with others once there is a negative impact of an
individual s reputation and the conception and expectations of others reinforces that reputation. I am
very familiar with the effect that labeling can have on a person. My uncle in Cuba is a great example
of what labeling can do to your persona. I grew up very close to him and remember always going on
trips and he would play around with all the time; to me he was the greatest uncle in the world. One
day I heard a comment that slipped out of the mouth of some friends and they referred to my uncle as
a thief or ratero . It appeared that my uncle due to the need of food decided to borrow a chicken from a
neighbor s backyard; got caught and from there he obtained a new reputation. I

Current review of VTE prophylaxis
INTRODUCTION
Throughout the surgery, numerous complications arise despite the proper planning. Perhaps, one of the
most dangerous complication is the Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) a broad concept which
encompasses Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE). The risk for VTE after
surgery is further increased and in absence of thromboprophylaxis, it is associated with high mortality
rate of 40 60% (Liu et al., 2016). Hence, VTE prophylaxis guidelines recommends the use of
pharmacological prophylaxis such as warfarin, low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). However, the
chemical therapeutic agents are associated with increased risk of bleeding, intraoperative hemorrhage
and hematoma (Frostick, 2016). This further results in delayed wound healing, infection and high risk
of readmission (Nam et al., 2015). Therefore, this paper explores is the cooperative effectiveness of
mechanical prophylaxis such as mobile Compression Devices

Analysis Of Dave Barry sNorth Dakota Wants Its Place In...
In Dave Barry s satirical essay titled North Dakota wants its place in the sun , he argues that name
changing is a ridiculous concept. Dave Barry immediately claims that changing the name of an object,
subject, or person doesn t change the identity of said object, subject, or person but rather temporarily
deceives the individual. Throughout his essay, Barry utilizes the rhetorical strategies of anecdote,
hyperbole, and sarcasm to strengthen and support his stance on name changing. Although Barry s
article centers on North Dakota, the author uses anecdotes with common themes to make his character
more reliable and credible, although he is not actually a resident of North Dakota. In Barry s article, he
shifts from talking about North Dakota s name change to his own short story about Floridians giving
cockroaches a new name in order to protect their coveted reputation of paradise. Barry s anecdote on
palmetto bugs helps to strengthen his credibility as he stresses the foolishness of name changes as
shown by the following excerpt But we Floridians solved that problem by giving them a new name,
palmetto bugs , which makes them sound cute and harmless (Barry Paragraph 8). This anecdote on
palmetto bugs makes Barry more of a reliable source because the anecdote illustrates how Florida
experienced a similar phase as North Dakota. Seeing that Barry has lived through it, he knows from
experience that a name change will not always result in a positive outcome as he states in a

Syria Is The Heart Of The Middle East
Syria is located in Southwest Asia. According to National Geographic Syria is considered to be the
heart of the Middle East because of its borders. Syria borders Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Turkey,
Cyprus, but most importantly the Mediterranean Sea. Even though, the relationship between Russia
and Syria wasn t the best throughout the years it has become important. Syria has become an
important ally to Russia. Russia and Syria s relationship can be best described as a strategic plan. It
can be viewed as a strategic plan due to Russia s main concerns or interests toward Syria s weapons,
trade, natural resources and the access to the Mediterranean Sea. The Syrian Civil War is a war fought
to bring an end to the Authoritarian practices performed from the Assad family (Sharwood, pg. 1).
From 1971 to 2000 Hafez al Assad was President of Syria. Following the reign of Hafez al Assad his
son Bashar al Assad became President of Syria. Throughout the reign of his father violence was used
to suppress protests. This included the excessive use of police, military and paramilitary forces.
Therefore, these practices have served as a guide to solving problems. It is stated, The malign but
tactically brilliant Hafez al Assad blighted the Middle East with disproportionate Syrian influence for
decades. His son, the feckless Bashar, has continued this pattern since 2000 by sending terrorists to
Iraq, murdering Lebanon s Prime Minister Rafiq al Hariri, overthrowing his son Saad, aiding the

Copyright laws in regards to music should be repealed. The RIAA has misconstrued the perceived

Surrogacy legislation in Queensland
Due to the complications surrounding surrogacy, each state in Austalia has specific legislation which
outlines the requirements for surrogacy. However, commercial surrogacy is prohibited in all states in
Australia apart from Northern Territory which has no legislation which governs this area of law.
Therefore all forms of surrogacy to be allowed. Altruistic surrogacy, which means the surrogate will
not be paid beyond reimbursement of medical and reasonable expenses, is the only form permitted by
law in all seven states.

Epicurus Vs Aristotle
What s the one thing everyone wants to achieve in life and is the ultimate end for every action people
do? Philosophers from almost every generation are trying to figure out what that is, some even
referring to it as the good . But what is the good ? Epicurus would argue that the good is simply
pleasure, honor, and glory; however, that is not the ultimate end for every action people do. According
to Aristotle, the ultimate end that every action seeks is happiness and that s the good everyone desires.
The idea of happiness being the ultimate end, is superior to Epicurus s idea of pleasure, honor, and
glory, due to the fact that all those things are intended to bring forth some form of happiness.
Therefore, happiness must be what everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Colombia is a mainly Spanish speaking, Catholic country, but has a diverse population. Colombia is
the only American nation named for Christopher Columbus. The country strongly reflects its history
as a colony of Spain. Colombia became independent on July 20, 1810 (Kline.) It is often referred to as
the most Roman Catholic of the South American countries, and most of its people are proud of the
relative purity of their Spanish language. Its population is heavily mestizo (of mixed European and
Indian descent) with minorities of European and African ancestry. The economy is traditionally based
on agriculture, particularly coffee and fruit production, but industries and services are increasing in
importance. Colombia is the most populous country of South America. The nation s political
instability has been tied to unequal distribution of wealth and the illicit trade in drugs, specifically

Difference Between Rigid And Rigid Constitution
Rigid and Flexible Constitution
Introduction
The word constitution is commonly used in at least two senses in any ordinary discussion of political
affairs . First of all it is used to describe the whole system of government of a country , the collection
of rules which establish and regulate or govern the government . These rules are partly legal , in the
sense that courts of law will recognize and apply them , and partly non legal or extra legal , taking the
form of usages , understandings, customs , or conventions which courts do not recognise as law but
which are not less effective in regulation the government that the rules of law strictly so called.

They lead us to think that a constitution which contains a number of legal obstacles to its amendment
will be hard to alter and will therefore be less frequently altered than one which contains fewer
obstacles or no special obstacles at all . It is thought that as the name suggest , a rigid constitution
owing to its intricate arrangement of amendment is difficult to amend on the other hand a flexible
constitution can be moulded in the manner a legislature wishes it to. But this type of distinction may
not be true , if the amendment procedure in regard to India is seen , then we can come to the
conclusion that the Indian constitution is not entirely easy to amend , owing to the provision of two
third majority under clause (2) of Art 368, but still we have 100th newest amendment in our
constitution and several other amendments still in pipeleine . The swiss constitution owing to its
amendment procedure can be said as rigid , but in fact it has also been subjected to frequent

amendment as in Swiss constitution , has been amended very few times , as of 2012, 44 referendums

Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer s Essay Pitching Your Praise
In the article Pitching Your Praise , the author Elizabeth Hartley Brewer asserts that it is important for
continues growth in kids, that they are allowed to be self sufficient and taught to become independent
learners, to learn how to self assess themselves and to choose their own goals in life. This is
accomplished by grooming kids to not always have the need to feel validated through someone s
approval through empty praise, but by having them feel encouraged through praise that is focused on
their actual efforts and the success of their efforts. The goal of safe praise is to build on your child s
growing capacity for self belief and self motivation so she can begin to rely less on you and judge her
efforts herself. (Hartley Brewer 3)

The Impact of the Dred Scott Case on the United States
The Dred Scott Case had a huge impact on the United States as it is today. The Thirteenth and
Fourteenth Amendments have called it the worst Supreme Court decision ever rendered and was later
overturned. The Dred Scott Decision was a key case regarding the issue of slavery; the case started as
a slave seeking his rightful freedom and mushroomed into a whole lot more. 65
The reason why Dred Scott decided to pursue his freedom is unknown, but there are a couple theories.
For example, it is believed that most likely, Scott decided to bring his case to court after years of

In conclusion, this case could have been started for monetary reasons, but the initial decision appeared
to be made based on the case being controversial in many areas beyond monetary considerations.

The decision from the first case was reached in just one day, rather expeditiously for a case, which
took fourteen months to get to trial; yet there were valid reason. For Example, the judge ruled, the
testimony could not prove that Irene Emerson owned Dred Scott. (Lukes, 21) This shows that the
burden of proof was on Dred Scott to prove his ownership, in order to have a ruling on his freedom.
This also shows how one tiny oversight by one side can affect the outcome of a case. In addition, the
record indicated, The said defendant is not guilty in manner and form as the plaintiff hath in his
declaration complained against her. (Lukes 22) This shows that because of Scott s attorney s error in
argument, the court had to rule in favor of Mrs. Emerson. This also shows that in a strange twist of
fate, in effect, allowed Mrs. Emerson to keep her slaves because no one had proven they were her
slaves. In conclusion, Dred Scott had lost in the first court appearance, but the case was far from over.

England and France in these productions. The play King Henry V focuses on the the English King and
how he dealt with the war. It expresses ideas of King Henry that are empowering and strong willed.
He motivates his men using his high class position to enter the war and keep them full of hope and
confidence throughout the battles. In Saint Joan, a young peasant girl named Joan believes God has
spoken to her to lead an army and retrieve the crown for the Dauphin of France. Joan has to gain the

She is born a peasant and does not have any power in her society. Joan believes she has heard the
voice of God telling her to lead an army of men to victory. Since she is of the lowest class status her
challenge is to convince the nobles and Dauphine that she is worthy to lead in battle. She states her
claim and gets a response of I suppose you think raising a siege is as easy as chasing cows in a
meadow. You think soldiering is anybody s job? (Saint Joan Act 1 n.pg). The nobles are making an
analogy to farm life because of Joan s class level. She has to somehow prove her worthiness because
she is seen as someone who is incapable due to her societal place. No one in her time of her status
would be given the opportunity to lead an army of men. As a result of this Joan faces the uphill battle

Betsy Ross Speech
Even though Betsy Ross is best known for creating and sewing the American flag, this has never been
officially proven. However, there is a great amount of evidence that she was very influential in the
making of the flag. These words by her say it all, Our hearts aching, our prayers praying, our flags
waving, never forget. 1 Elizabeth Griscom, also known as Betsy Ross was born on January 1, 1752 in
Philadelphia to her loving parents Rebecca and Samuel Griscom. She was the eighth child out of
seventeen.2 The same year she was born was the year the Liberty Bell arrived in Philadelphia. Her
father had the honor to assist in building the tower that surrounded the bell where it was placed. Her
parents were part of the Quaker religion, also known as the Society of Friends, which left Betsy living
differently than the colonist. With the determined Quaker religion, she was not allowed to attend plays
or read storybooks because it promoted a world of fantasy rather than the story of the Bible. The
Quakers also forbid music within their culture because it provided no movement to the people and
developed corrupt thoughts within an individual.3 During this time period many families were fairly
large, but a majority of the children often died from diseases at a very young age. In Betsy s family
only nine of the children survived to be adults. Every Sunday and Thursday the Quakers would attend
a church service that lasted two hours long. The men and women sat facing each other, while

Learning From A Foreign Language
Learning to write in a foreign language Life is weird and unexpected. You don t know what is coming
up or what is going through. You don t know what s next, but you do have choices, plans and Images
of your future. I started reading and writing when I was 4, it was in Arabic and writing in Arabic doesn
t have many rules. So by the age of eight, I was done with learning how to read and write, and started
my science studies. I gained some of my skills through writing in Arabic like meditation and the way
of thinking, but this part of life is barely related to the kind of writer I am now, because writing in
English is completely different. My first experience with reading and writing in English started when I
chose to attend an out siding high school in another city. It was a school for top students. Joining this
school was my start point with the English and academic writing. It was also my start point to be here
in the US, more than 7,000 miles away from home. Looking back, if I didn t join this school, I wouldn
t be able to write and read in English and I wouldn t be able to come here. So life is pretty cool about
that, it s just one choice led to a very long series of events that shaped my writing skills and attitudes.
Starting the high school, one the most significant series of events that shaped my writing skills, was
my academic studies. When I joined the school, I was very weak in English and most of my

Organ Trafficking Research Paper
A Match Made In Your Abdomen As catchy and endearing as the title the matchmaker may seem, it
carries a darker meaning with it in today s discussion. Mr. Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, the matchmaker ,
was in the lucrative business of brokering the sale of kidneys to U.S. patients who were in dire need of
them. The matchmaker would purchase the kidneys from people from Israel at $10,000 U.S. dollars,
then resale them for a much higher and profitable price. Reports say that some may have been sold for
up to $160,000 U.S. dollars. This incredible case is the first reported organ trafficking one in the
United States. The alleged decade long scheme, exposed this week by an FBI sting, rocked the nation
s transplant industry. The charges, if true, would be the first documented case of organ trafficking in

global market. Topics like foreign trade, comparing global to statistics to Canadas, and our impact on
a global market. Another area would be human geography. Discussions on subjects like income
equality, literacy rates, and mortality rates in relation to gender, race, class, and the environment.

Parrots are highly intelligent and intuitive. These birds have been monitored and tested for their
cognitive and intellectual abilities and the results have shown that they possess a similar intelligence
level to that of a young human child. For many owners part of the appeal of parrots is the ability to
teach them tricks. Teaching new parrot tricks is not only entertaining for both the owner and the parrot

Weight Loss Myths
Have you been exercising and dieting and still you don t get the desired results? Well you must have
fallen victim of bad advise that is in the internet concerning weight loss. Some are unproven methods
or literally proven not to work. Here are some common myths.
All calories are the same. Different foods go through a different metabolism pathway therefore have
different effect on hunger and hormones that regulate body weight. Calories found in refined foods are
less filling and require one to eat more leading to weight gain while calories in whole foods are bulky
and more filling.
Carbs make you fat. Refined carbs like fries will result to weight gain but whole carbs like brown rice
are bulky and more filling therefore are healthy.
Fat makes you fat. It seems logic but there is nothing fattening about fat. As long as calories ... Show

Actually it never works in long term. It leads to weight gain in the future. You shouldn t approach
weight loss with a dieting mindset instead make it a life plan to be happier, healthier and fitter.
Eating smaller meals make you burn more calories, well this is a myth too. Eat when you are hungry
and stop when you are full. You should eat to satisfy hunger not appetite.
Eating less and work out more. This may seem true because when calories out surpass calories in fat is
lost but this at times makes the body go into starvation mode. When the body does that it will
conserve every possible calorie, breaking down muscle tissue as well as fat, endangering ones health
and making weight loss difficult. Weight loss should involve eating right, the right kind of food and
the right amount of food.
Losing weight is linear process. This is not true, it may fluctuate. This should not be a cause of
concern. At times you may be carrying more food in the digestive system or more water in the body.
As long as the trend is going downwards eventually you will lose weight in the long term.
Those are some of the common myths

The Three Eras Of The Medieval, Renaissance And Baroque...
The three most well known, and arguably most important, musical eras in western civilizations would
be the; medieval, Renaissance and Baroque time periods. With the basics of music with Gregorian
chant and organum from the medieval era to the newfound polyphony texture from the Renaissance
and the equal temperament and major minor tonality of the baroque era; Each time period brings a part
of the foundation that most past, present, and future music is and will be based on. While it may seem
that these three eras or completely different, they do contain several underlying similarities. Beginning
at around 476 AD, the medieval era is mostly related to the church as most music from this era is
sacred. The style of this era, the Gregorian chant is monophonic only comprising of the plainchant (or
the single line melodies of early church music) in texture only comprising of the plainchant (or the
single line melodies of early church music). It is not until the arrival of the French composers Léonin
and Pèrotin in 1100 and 1200 respectively that polyphony would be incorporated into musical worship
with the decoration of Gregorian chant with one or more simultaneous musical lines, thus transitioning
from Gregorian chant to Organum. During this era, most of the music and roles for musicians
belonged to the church except for the troubadours of southern France and the trouvères of northern
France. The music was responsorial between the mass and the father during church and was

Analysis Of Kim And Mauborgne And Their Blue Ocean Strategy
Introduction:
In the early 21st century, the economic and social context became difficult; it is partly due to the
economic crisis but also by the low consumption. Many companies are struggling to find their place or
event to remain sustainable. Faced to this global economic uncertainty and increased taxes that effect
revenues, the customers; me and you, prefer to save rather than consume. Furthermore, the household
income allocated to consumption continues to decline. In addition to that, this situation makes the
consumers more volatile, looking just for the low cost or even a good plan». Meanwhile, companies
are also struggling to maintain the growth. So then they try to drastically cut costs or suggest different
offers without an added value.
Based on this general assumption, the conventional models including porter s strategic management
seem to have had their day. However, other theories have been created to try to change and renew the
components of market. This is the case of Kim and Mauborgne and their blue ocean strategy which
represented a revolution in the competitive market. This strategic paradigm is presented as a
revolution! Its implementation will lead the company adapted to success by creating new demand and
avoiding competition. This strategy seems to be similar to a dream, do not worry! The dream is
overtaken by reality.
This report is a critical review of Blue Ocean strategy. It examines and explains both the blue ocean
and porter s model as a

How Does Gluttony Consume Our Culture
Gluttony When people think about Gluttony, they picture a fat slob. However, there are two different
types of gluttony, which are gluttonies of delicacy and excess. The medieval s five ways of sinning by
gluttony depicts this dichotomy of gluttony perfectly. These include, eating and drinking too soon, too
expensively, too much, too eagerly, and with too much fuss (Guinness 213). Gluttony has consumed
our culture because we see it as the smallest of the seven deadly sins and most people do not even see
gluttony as a sin! Steering Through Chaos demonstrates how gluttony has pervaded our culture
because of a moral emptiness, how the only cure is courage through suffering, and how gluttony can
affect my life. The gluttony of excess encompasses the first four of the medieval ways to sin through
gluttony. These four problems all associate to people who are gluttonous in that they devour food.
Time magazine gave a stupendous example when they reported, An easy to spot glutton was the

This type of courage counters gluttony thanks to dedication, discipline, and patience. Courage is also
the opposite of gluttony because gluttony devours in an attempt to feel whole yet ends up losing,
whereas; courage is, a form of being consumed that seems to lose, yet ends in finding (Guinness 234).
John of the cross validates this when he says, Men and women consume and are consumed by many
things, some of which only shrink and debase them. But the ultimate consumption and the grand
counterpoint to gluttony is a human being ablaze with the glory of God as if consumed with divine fire
(Guinness 237). John is showing how courage that seemed to lose by giving up everything for Jesus
Christ ends up gaining everything through

Advantages And Disadvantages Of TNT Mineralization
Aerobic TNT biotransformation by bacteria has been exensively researched and leads to the reduction
of 1 or 2 nitro groups. Many studies have proved that many isomers of amino nitro aromatic
compounds such as hydroxyl aminodinitrotoluenes (HADNT), amino dinitrotoluenes (ADNT),
diamino nitrotoluenes (DANT), dinitroaniline (DNA), and polynuclear condensation products like
azoxytoluenes are the aerobic partially reduced products of TNT known to be recalcitrant and

How Did Louis Pasteur Affect The Economy
Louis Pasteur also made a major impact on the agricultural industries of France s economy as well. In

worried, for they were losing money and they were losing money rapidly. Sheep and cattle were not

His interest in rabies began when he eleven years old. In October of 1831, a rabid wolf ravaged
through Pasteur s town, biting and attacking anything in its way. Young Pasteur witnessed this tragic
event and never forgot the seventeen dogs and the six children that were harmed. Around fifty years
later, Pasteur s drive to find a rabies bacillus was still going strong yet throughout France is was
believed that the experiment was inevitable for failure Rabies is a viral and contagious disease. This
did not stop Pasteur s lab from making progress in their experimentation. In their first attempt, Louis
and his team attempted to make dogs immune to the effects of rabies. In doing so, they injected the
disease into different species. They noticed that as the disease was passed to each other, it gradually
weakened in its effects. Pasteur then began to inject animals with a less potent injection of rabies. The
hope was that slowly but surely, immunity would be built up within that animal. The method consisted
of approximately seven to fourteen daily injection of the live rabies virus into the animal to be
observed and analyzed over time. Out of the fifty animals that were tested on, there had been constant
successes in making them resistant to rabies. As a result of this progress and success, Pasteur decided
that it was time to begin human trials. At first, many were skeptical that Pasteur and his team s vaccine
would work. However as more and more cases occurred, and with nowhere else to go, people
requested treatment with the rabies vaccine. By October of 1886, over two thousand people had
received the vaccine. Although the vaccine was not one hundred percent successful, ninety nine
percent of individuals that were infected with rabies survived with the aid of Pasteur s vaccine.

  • 6. Benjamin Tappan Research Paper Ravenna and the Universalist Church Benjamin Tappan, Jr., an attorney from Connecticut, was the first person to settle in Western Reserve s Township 3, Range 8, now known as Ravenna, Ohio. His father owned more than 10,000 acres in the southern two thirds of the township. Tappan Jr. moved there in June 1799, traveling part of the way with David Hudson, who was on his way to settle the nearby township bearing his name. With his father s power of attorney, Tappan Jr. divided the land into 66 lots of about 160 acres each to be sold to settlers. He selected a site in the center of his land for the town. Trumbull County covered the entire Western Reserve when Tappan first settled Ravenna Township. By 1806, the population had grown enough for the land to be divided and Geauga County was carved out. In February 1807, the Ohio Legislature passed an act creating Portage County, taking some land from Geauga but most land came from what remained in Trumbull County. The temporary county seat was Tappan s home and he was instrumental in convincing the county commissioners to choose Ravenna as the permanent seat. In April, 1809, Benjamin Tappan, Jr. sold lots 55, 56, and 57 to the county commissioners for the purpose of a courthouse and jail (Gregory, 34). Among her qualities of isolation, insubordination, and imprecision, which would typically viewed by society with a negative connotation, came her title as one of the strongest women of her time. How about when a professor pointed fingers at you because he thought you were cheating on a test? These are just a few examples of the impact that people s opinions or thoughts can have on your reputation. Labeling theorists suggest that labeling individuals as deviant has the potential of becoming a self fulfilling prophecy (Globokar, 2008). Howard Becker has described deviance as a consequence of the application by others of rules and sanctions to an offender ; the deviant is one to whom the label has successfully been applied; deviant behavior is behavior people so label (Clinard Meier, 2011:89). Culture, sex, age and other elements of identity all shape self conception, but the meanings that an individual places on various circumstances and interactions certainly play a very important role as well. It becomes difficult to normally interact with others once there is a negative impact of an individual s reputation and the conception and expectations of others reinforces that reputation. I am very familiar with the effect that labeling can have on a person. My uncle in Cuba is a great example of what labeling can do to your persona. I grew up very close to him and remember always going on trips and he would play around with all the time; to me he was the greatest uncle in the world. One day I heard a comment that slipped out of the mouth of some friends and they referred to my uncle as a thief or ratero . The risk for VTE after surgery is further increased and in absence of thromboprophylaxis, it is associated with high mortality rate of 40 60% (Liu et al., 2016). Hence, VTE prophylaxis guidelines recommends the use of pharmacological prophylaxis such as warfarin, low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). However, the chemical therapeutic agents are associated with increased risk of bleeding, intraoperative hemorrhage and hematoma (Frostick, 2016). This further results in delayed wound healing, infection and high risk of readmission (Nam et al., 2015). In Dave Barry s satirical essay titled North Dakota wants its place in the sun , he argues that name changing is a ridiculous concept. Dave Barry immediately claims that changing the name of an object, subject, or person doesn t change the identity of said object, subject, or person but rather temporarily deceives the individual. Throughout his essay, Barry utilizes the rhetorical strategies of anecdote, hyperbole, and sarcasm to strengthen and support his stance on name changing. Although Barry s article centers on North Dakota, the author uses anecdotes with common themes to make his character more reliable and credible, although he is not actually a resident of North Dakota. In Barry s article, he shifts from talking about North Dakota s name change to his own short story about Floridians giving cockroaches a new name in order to protect their coveted reputation of paradise. Barry s anecdote on palmetto bugs helps to strengthen his credibility as he stresses the foolishness of name changes as shown by the following excerpt But we Floridians solved that problem by giving them a new name, palmetto bugs , which makes them sound cute and harmless (Barry Paragraph 8). • 26. Organ Trafficking Research Paper A Match Made In Your Abdomen As catchy and endearing as the title the matchmaker may seem, it carries a darker meaning with it in today s discussion. Mr. Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, the matchmaker , was in the lucrative business of brokering the sale of kidneys to U.S. patients who were in dire need of them. The matchmaker would purchase the kidneys from people from Israel at $10,000 U.S. dollars, then resale them for a much higher and profitable price. Reports say that some may have been sold for up to $160,000 U.S. dollars. This incredible case is the first reported organ trafficking one in the United States. The alleged decade long scheme, exposed this week by an FBI sting, rocked the nation s transplant industry. The charges, if true, would be the first documented case of organ trafficking in the U.S., transplant experts said Friday. (Porter and Johnson, 2009). In the past, up to 30% of all potential living donor transplants were considered impossible due to blood group and antibody incompatibilities. Recently however, it has become possible to transplant patients in this situation using specialised techniques. Only a few centres routinely perform this in the UK. The three most well known, and arguably most important, musical eras in western civilizations would be the; medieval, Renaissance and Baroque time periods. With the basics of music with Gregorian chant and organum from the medieval era to the newfound polyphony texture from the Renaissance and the equal temperament and major minor tonality of the baroque era; Each time period brings a part of the foundation that most past, present, and future music is and will be based on. While it may seem that these three eras or completely different, they do contain several underlying similarities. Many companies are struggling to find their place or event to remain sustainable. Faced to this global economic uncertainty and increased taxes that effect revenues, the customers; me and you, prefer to save rather than consume. Furthermore, the household income allocated to consumption continues to decline. In addition to that, this situation makes the consumers more volatile, looking just for the low cost or even a good plan». Meanwhile, companies are also struggling to maintain the growth. So then they try to drastically cut costs or suggest different offers without an added value. Based on this general assumption, the conventional models including porter s strategic management seem to have had their day. The gluttony of excess encompasses the first four of the medieval ways to sin through gluttony. These four problems all associate to people who are gluttonous in that they devour food. Around fifty years later, Pasteur s drive to find a rabies bacillus was still going strong yet throughout France is was believed that the experiment was inevitable for failure Rabies is a viral and contagious disease. This did not stop Pasteur s lab from making progress in their experimentation. In their first attempt, Louis and his team attempted to make dogs immune to the effects of rabies. In doing so, they injected the disease into different species. They noticed that as the disease was passed to each other, it gradually weakened in its effects. Pasteur then began to inject animals with a less potent injection of rabies. The hope was that slowly but surely, immunity would be built up within that animal. The method consisted of approximately seven to fourteen daily injection of the live rabies virus into the animal to be observed and analyzed over time. Out of the fifty animals that were tested on, there had been constant successes in making them resistant to rabies. As a result of this progress and success, Pasteur decided that it was time to begin human trials. At first, many were skeptical that Pasteur and his team s vaccine would work.
