My Evidence In My Writing
Throughout quarter 1, I believe that my ability to find and apply evidence to my writings has
improved over the quarter. Although this skill is still a work in progress for me, I have noticed
tremendous growth in my own confidence through it. My credibility of my evidence has improved
through class discussions.
After the disobedience writing, i saw that i performed well on that specific writing. For me this
specific writing was not challenging because I knew historical events that i could use for my
evidence. By having that background knowledge, it made it less challenging to write for that
prompt. I did well because i referenced historical events for my evidence. This created credibility
in my writing because it was a use of historical facts that were connected to the prompt. We learned
evidences to use in argumentative writing: literature, historical events, and personal anecdotes.
Some historical events i used were MLK Jr, Gandhi, and Harriet Tubman. I stated that Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. had an idea of equality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I learned from that first writing by knowing to reference credible historical events, but i also
learned from the second writing by realized that using only personal anecdotes does not create more
credibility and ethos to a argumentative writing. When credibility is applied to an argumentative
essay , the argument of the writer becomes stronger to the strength of the ethos. From learning
about different types of argumentative writing in class, i was able to comprehend and apply more
credible sources to my writings to create a stronger argument.
Overall in quarter 1, my skills have grown in my credibility of evidence. I learned from my
mistakes and was able to fully understand how to create a better argumentative writing. The skill is
still not perfect for me and still needs lots of improvement, but it has grown throughout the quarter
and really has helped me in

Mission San Antonio Analysis
According to one of the friars from Mission Soledad, Native Americans had a fondness for every
kind of music (Geiger and Meighan 1976:135). This was not exclusive to this mission as many of
the padres from the Geiger and Meighan reading said that the natives had an inclination toward
music. This enthusiasm for music gave the padres an opportunity to use this to their advantage as
the natives would be more willing to learn and adopt European music compared to other European
ways. But even with this seemingly perfect opportunity, the padres faced many difficulties in
simply teaching the natives even though all of them had studied music and sung in choirs prior to
coming to the New World. They were simply not professional musicians, according to the padre
from mission San Antonio (Geiger and Meighan 1976:135). Because of this lack of experience or
proper training, many padres were less skilled at teaching and found... Show more content on

This failure to teach the natives music reinforced the padres ethnocentric beliefs. Padre Narciso
Duran, known for his leadership in Mission San Jose, once said, that the boys did not possess the
ability to take up singing (Sandos 2004:136). Despite these widely held beliefs that underestimated
the native s abilities, Duran began to question his notions after seeing some native boys from a
neighboring mission playing European instruments. Because of this observation, he was inspired to
teach the natives from his mission music. But during his first attempt, he was unable to get the
natives to memorize the music, which reinforced his ethnocentric notions and led him to believe
that ... the Indians are so short on memory (Ray and Engbeck 1974:10 meaning that they had

Erikson s Psychosocial Theory And Psychosocial Development
Theories and Theorists
Theories are the building blocks of psychology. Theories whether old or new has allowed us to
know what we know now. There are many theories in the field of psychology or educational
psychology that are important to further understand human behavior. However, this paper will
focus on only two theories which are; Erikson s psychosocial theory and Alfred Adlers Adlerian
theory.
Erik Erikson s psychosocial development has always been a great contribution to the field of
psychology by Erik Erikson (Berk, 2007). Erikson suggested that everyone experiences a series of
psychosocial stages instead of psychosexual stages as proposed by Sigmund Freud. Despite the fact
that Erikson disagreed with Sigmund Freud in so many areas in his psychosexual theory, it was
actually Freud s psychosexual theory that helped Erikson formulate his own psychosocial theory
and Erikson was very much influenced by Sigmund and his work (Erikson, 1968). So even if
Erikson disagreed with Freud, Sigmund actually contributed to Erikson s psychosocial theory
because if it wasn t for Freud s shortcomings in his psychosexual theory, Erikson would not have
come up with his own psychosocial theory (Erikson, 1968).
Freud and Erikson hold opposite views on many things. However, they did agree on a few things
to like how they both believed that personality develops in a series of set stages. But dissimilar
from Freud s theory of psychosexual stages, Erikson s theory depicts the influence of

What Was The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Fall of the Roman Empire
The Roman Empire, at its highest, was prosperous and extremely powerful. Its extensive territories,
strong economy and government structures, and huge bureaucracy, formed a stable empire of
utmost greatness. Augustus formally started the Roman Empire in 27 BC and it was a mighty
empire for a long time until it eventually fell in 476 AD. The fall of the Roman Empire was gradual
and caused by a variety of factors, however leadership failure was the major contributor overall.
The Roman Empire had quite a number of insane and inarguably autocratic emperors, beginning
with Tiberius, Augustus son in law. Tiberius was cold and paranoid, and immediately dissipated
all the prestige of Rome that Augustus had built before him. He disposed of anyone he did not
like and was referred to by the Romans as Old Goat. Next in line was Tiberius grandnephew,
Caligula, who carried the role of Princeps to an extreme. Caligula ordered the public to address
him as God and wanted his horse to be elected as consul to show that the Republic was dead. He
constantly mocked the government and essentially had no real conscience. Then Nero later took
the leadership role as the youngest man to become emperor at the age of 16. At first, his moves
were good, then there was a sudden shift from his virtuous ways to insanity. In 64 AD, there was a
fire in Rome, the cause unknown, and Nero recited lines from Homer as his city went up in
flames. He also regularly had concerts

Developing And Managing Offerings Process
DEVELOPING AND MANAGING OFFERINGS The seven steps in the offering development
process are idea generation, idea screening, features specification, development, testing,
marketing and evaluation. THE ACTIVITIES INVOLVED: 1. Idea generation This is the first
stage and it is easy and less expensive to generate, but the most expensive part of this is making
it a reality. The activities involved are carrying out a research using SWOT analysis (Strength,
Weakness, Opportunities and Threat), focus group and corporate spies to get an idea into
developing a new product. Creating the idea and gathering information from customers by
watching and listening to them is another activity involved in idea generation and determine if
the offering is worth pursuing. The idea can come from anywhere; it could be from employee,
customers, suppliers, competitors and distributors. 2. Idea screening This is the second stage in
the offering development process. At this stage, the idea created, gathered and about to be
developed is looked into properly to determine if: i. it will add value to customer, ii. it will it
meet the need of the customers, iii. it will it be ready, the quantity and the price to sell to the
market iv. it is within the budget of the company; v. the company will make a profit and how much.
The organisation must be able to assess that the offering looks and work right (investment risk) and
fit for the purpose (opportunity risk) and if not, the idea needs

Early Childhood Educator
As a future early childhood educator, I took it upon myself to get a better understanding of what
my future would look like. I began working at the Boys and Girls Club in the early childhood
education program, and it has been one of the most beneficial and inspirational parts of my life.
While there, I have worked with children who come from completely opposite sides of the
socioeconomic, language, and development spectrums. My first year gave me my greatest
teaching dilemma I have faced yet. Preschool girl twins were placed in my classroom after
moving from Africa just days prior. Neither girls nor mom could talk English, both girls wore the
exact same clothing and hair every day, and they always needed to be hand in hand. I was
overwhelmed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the boy and the girl have developmental differences. The girl is incredibly independent, a
quick learner, but is also highly sensitive and socially resistant. Her brother is especially
dependent, slow to learn, and extremely sensitive. I mostly worked with the boy and tried to
understand who he is as a person. I quickly learned that he will have a meltdown if something is
wrong with his clothes like if he spilt milk on his shirt and was wet or if there was a rock in his
shoe and it hurt. I also observed that he constantly has to be touching something whether it be
another child, the pictures on the wall, the rug on the ground, and anything in between. During
a meltdown, I would talk to him on his level face to face and stay calm when asking what is
wrong and what can I do to help him. I continuously reassured him that he has an extra shirt that
is dry and all we have to do is take his shoe off to get the rock out. I also changed the way that I
taught him lessons by giving him physical objects of what we were talking about to hold on to
and feel. When it was circle time, he was given a small ball to hold on to and manipulate as long as
it was not distracting to other children or taking his attention away from the lesson. My strengths in
this experience were understanding his developmental tendencies and adhering to them in a calm
and productive

Media Log Essay
Media Logs
On the weekday, September 8th, I had no plans other than to go to my 11:00 a.m. class and to
make the hour long drive to go to my home town later that night. I had no middle of the day
plans, so I spent my day relaxing and watching internet shows on Netflix. Later, I took some time
to text my stepfather, because my car broke down. Once I got my car mobile, I sang along to the
radio while I drove home. A week later, September 17th on a weekend day, I used the same types of
media again. I spent a few hours watching Netflix, until I became motivated to study for the exams
I had to take the next day. Then I studied for the rest of the day, using google to help me define
and look up information. Late that night I song along to the radio while I shower and decided to
keep it playing as I fell asleep. Although I did different activities through the days, both days I used
many of the same media types, and most were around the same time of day. On these days, the
media that took up most the time was watching Netflix. I spent about 2 hours and 30 minutes
each day watching the online shows. The time I starting watching was roughly 1:00 p.m. and I
did not watch any shows pasted 5:00 or 6:00 pm, on both days. Another media I used on both
days is Snapchat, a form of social media. On both days, I used Snapchat close to when I woke up,
and right before I went to bed. Snapchat wasn t the only media I used right before bed, although
I used text messages at small amounts throughout both days, before bed I d text for a longer
period, between 30 minutes to an hour. The radio was a very prevalent media but it was not
consistent like the other media types at certain times of the day, only while I was driving,
showering, or sleeping. Some of my media usage shocked me. It surprised me how much of my
time I spent watching online shows. I reacted by being disappointed about what I spent my time
doing compared to what I could have spent my time doing. I felt lazy, and embarrassed. Much of
media used in both days were Netflix and the radio. Neither of these types of media are productive,
or helped me accomplish anything. I used the medias for my entertainment. My roommate uses
much more media than I do at one time.

A Human-Friendly Method of Treating Acid Mine Drainage
The worldwide problem of acid mine drainage causes harm to waterways, plants, animals, and even
humans. Acid mine drainage is water with a high acidity content that originates from water coming
in contact with highly acidic bearing materials in rocks. Those rocks are common in mining
regions, which is why acidmine drainage is such a problem for those locations, including the coal
mining region of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The water affected by acid mine drainage becomes
yellow or orange in color due to the presence of dissolved iron in the oxygen rich water and the
water reeks of sulfur. The water from acid mine drainage has a high pHlevel and can be dangerous
if it comes in contact with living organisms. Acid mine drainage occurs gradually, with some
scientists and governmental officials predicting some cases of acid mine drainage may be around
for as long as a thousand years (Earthworks Action). Acid mine drainage is a monetary burden as
well as an environmental one. The materials used in the common chemical treatment processes for
acid mine drainage are very costly, with materials costing nearly $1,000 per gallon. Six primary
chemicals are used to treat acid mine drainage, and they are: calcium carbonate, calcium hydroxide,
calcium oxide, sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide(in solid, 20% liquid and 50% liquid forms),
and anhydrous ammonia (Skousen, Hilton and Faulkner, Overview of Acid Mine Drainage
Treatment with Chemicals). All of these chemicals can be efficient in

Understanding And Acting Upon Consumer Behavior
Consumer Behavior Booking.com Understanding and acting upon consumer behavior is at the
core of becoming a successful retailer. Today s business environment is packed with competing
firms, all seeking to convenience customers to choose them over their competitors. Many
industries, such as the soda, cell phone, and laundry detergent industries are dominated by a just a
few or a sole firm. Therefore, more than ever it is becoming increasingly difficult to disrupt the
large base of habitual consumers. A consumer s buying process is what must be closely analyzed by
any existing or new firm that is attempting to be competitive in today s business environment. A
customer will have both utilitarian and hedonic needs. Often companies will attempt to merge these
two types of needs in order to create an all encompassing experience. For example, the Wegmans
store experience doesn t only satisfy the utilitarian need of purchasing groceries, it also provides
stimulation (an aspect of satisfying hedonic needs) through visuals and well organized displays.
Paying attention to such details and so creating a multi dimensional experience creates a
competitive advantage. Perhaps the most radical change in consumer behavior happened when the
new era of the internet began and the way customers started to search for and evaluate information
changed overnight. Today customers face the challenge of being overwhelmed by information
rather than not being able to access it. The internet has also

Out Of This Furnace Analysis
The book Out of This Furnace by Thomas Bell tells stories of three generations of an immigrant
family in the 19th century. The first part of the book is about the story of Kracha, our first
protagonist. Kracha left Slovakia to come to America for more opportunities. As Kracha settled in
America, he married Elena. Life in the United States was rough for the Kracha s family, and it
turned out just as difficult as in his homeland. Kracha worked different jobs and realized that they
were all low wage. He ended up working at the Mills.
The next story is about Kracha s son in law, Mike Dobrejcak who married to Mary. When Mike
was killed in a terrible accident at the Mills, Mary had to do her best to raise their children. The
next story is about Dobie, one of Mary s sons. As the story progresses the next generation has an
easier life than the previous one. However, they struggled to make a living. For example, Dobie did
illegal work for a living.
The experiences of George Kracha were very similar to those experiences of many immigrants to
the United States in the late 19th century. The Narrator state Kracha left his Hungarian village
because he had no other choices, it may be that he hoped he was likewise leaving behind the
endless poverty in Franz Josef s empire (Bell, p3). Kracha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Donatello s Marble Sculpture Of David By Ghiberti
Renaissance art, as with most art, conveys a message about the present beliefs during the
Renaissance age, both religious and secular, through the central themes and form used in the piece.
For instance, Ghiberti s panels on the baptistery doors provide detailed scenes depicting stories
from the Old Testament, which defines the primary theme of this piece and illustrates the religious
beliefs of the Renaissancetime. This piece also displays an immense level of humanism through the
strong sense of realism and naturalism Ghiberti provides. The figures were rendered as being part
of an actual story with their faces expressing obvious emotions. It is also apparent that Ghiberti was
employing characteristics of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture,... Show more content on

Likewise, Donatello s marble sculpture of David also possesses a religious theme, as it depicts the
biblical figure David and portrays his youthful courage and triumph over his enemies. This in itself
aided in the projection of Florentine beliefs and dreams, both religious and secular, as Florence was
often in conflict with other cities. Additionally, this pieces clearly exhibits Donatello s profound
understanding of sculptural adornment and classic form through his use of naturalism, which
gives the sculpture a sense of liveliness and emotion. Furthermore, the fresco displaying Saint.
Peter healing the sick with his shadow, painted inside the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine by
Masaccio, shares much of the same theme and reveals similar form as the two previously
discussed artworks. Naturally, Masaccio s fresco revolves around the same central theme,
religion, as it portrays a portion of the distinguished St. Peter s life and details a specific scene
from the Book of Matthew. However, most notable is Masaccio s use of realism, which is most
evident through the representation of life like

Improving Performance Appraisal For Employees
Improving Performance Appraisal for Employees
Introduction
One of the most important things in a company or organization is the performance appraisals that
are given to the employees, some management and upper management. A performance appraisal
can give so much information not only to the employer but also to the employee. There are many
different types of performance appraisal out there, also because every job is different the
performance for the different. A performance appraisal is important in any company because the
employee knows how they are doing well as the management staff. Performance appraisal are also
great because it shows it an employee need additional training or show improvement in certain
areas that they was having trouble in also if they are ready to go to the next step like a promotion
or a raise.
Literature Review/Findings
With any company that has employee is working for them they have a standard that they must
abide by. Some companies only do performance appraisals once a year and think that it is
effective way to rate their employees on company standard and to issue compensation and
discipline if need to. This not that very effective to run a business with employees the best way is
to do quarterly performance appraisals that way if an employee needs to be reprimanded it can be
done to correct the behavior before it gets to out of hand. According to Michael Aamodt, the author

The Highly Adaptable Amur Leopard
The leopard species is mostly associated with the stable conditions in the African savannah
however there is a rare exception living in the harsh winters of eastern Russia. This species goes
by the common names of Amur leopard, Far East leopard, Manchurian leopard or the Korean
leopard. The Amur leopard s scientific name is Pantherapardus orientalis, in the family felidaeand
one of ten sub species of leopards. In 2000 the IUCN added the Amur leopardto their Red List of
Threatened Species classifying the subspecies as Critically Endangered, and the CITES has
listed it on Appendix I. This species is down to a population size of roughly thirty adults, making
it the most rare species of big cat in the wild (WWF). Previously the Amur leopard stretched from
southeastern Russia, through Northeast China, and into the Korean peninsula in the 19th century
however after decades of destruction, poaching, and hunting of its prey, the Amur leopard has
been restricted to a tiny fragment of its former range (Klappenbach). Due to this unbalance of
nature the Amur Leopard is struggling to survive. In the period between 1970 and 1983 the
leopard lost eighty percent of its habitat range. Today only 20 25 leopards it inhabit a 5,000 km
squared area in Russian Province of Primorsky Krai while only 7 12 are thought to be scattered in
areas of northern China. The Amur leopard, being highly adaptable, can survive a wide range of
variability in temperature and precipitation. This adaptability

Theories Of Virtue Ethics
Summary of Virtue Ethics. For a non consequential theory, I will use Virtue Ethics. This theory is
developed by philosophers Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. All of them have a different perspective
of the theory, but they have the same central principle of Virtue Ethics, which is a personal
character to lead to happiness and fulfillment in one s life. There are two different types of virtues
in Aristotles Theory: Intellectual virtues and moral virtues. The intellectual virtues reflect what is
unique and important about human nature across the board, but the moral virtues conduct well the

Intrusions Leading to Decays
Although elephants and humans are different species, they share some important psychological
and cultural tendencies from which we can learn. Elephants are not only known for being
religious symbols, but they are also recognized for being a main source of income much like
processed foods in America. In The Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food, Michael Moss
reports on the role of the media and how major food companies use it to get people hooked on
foods that are convenient and inexpensive (Moss 262). Whereas, in Charles Sibert s, An Elephant

Researcher Gay Bradshaw sought to combine traditional research into elephant behavior with
insights drawn from human neuroscience (Siebert 355) in order to understand exactly why
elephants function the way they do. Scientists performed an MRI scan on an elephant brain to
conclude that brain organization and early development of elephants and humans are extremely
similar (Siebert 357). We learn that elephants are capable of exhibiting behavior typically
associated... with trauma related disorders in humans (Siebert 356). This helps us understand that
elephants are developing violent behaviors because, like humans, they can experience trauma. The
discovery of the relations between humans and elephants help understand the severe emotional
affect that human involvement can have on elephants. Scientists and doctors are also realizing that
food industries may have gone too far in creating and marketing products that posed the greatest
food concerns (Moss 260). Food companies are using technology to collect the opinions that
consumers have on their products (Moss 263). This is benefitting food companies because they are
making products that are helping their profit sales since they are appealing to the demands of their
consumers. As the Prego food company is making consumers happy with their sauces, scientists
discover that the largest ingredient, after tomatoes, is sugar (Moss 263). Through this we learn that
companies will do anything, like toxifying their products and increasing obesity risks, in order to

College Football Players Should Get Paid
Football is a challenging sport that not many individuals are blessed with the skills in order to play.
As stated in the article Top 10 Reasons College Football Players Should Get Paid Players who stay
in college for four years might sacrifice a year or two of earnings In order to stay in school long
enough to earn a degree , you must be dedicated to your grades and credits you need to succeed.
There are by far 100 reasons why college footballathlete should get paid. They invest about 50 60
hours a week and lower to 40 50 hours a week once the season and classes begin along with 12 15
hours of weight training and 15 20 hours a week getting ready for the spring season. They invest
their blood, sweat, and tears just to do what they love and put their all into it in order to have a
chance to get drafted to a better school and pursue their dreams. There are thousands of
foundations that are invested in the colleges make money off of the players but the individuals
that are actually doing most of the work, the real hard work, don t and that s unfair and yes we
all know sports are not meant to be fair but when it comes to your career you have to do what
you have to do. Let s talk more about the other factors that claim why college football athletes
should get paid. majority of the coaches make $53.4 million in salaries and 0% goes the
athletes. NCAA College Football Makes Money then so should the college players. The NCAA
and its most well known teams make a profit along with The University of Texas made over $100
million in profit in just a year of 2011. With so much money coming in you would think at least
25% would go to the players, the players are expected to do slave labor without a cut? This
whole debate is coming down to fairness. The logical reason why the college football athletes
don t get paid is that most of them got full ride scholarships to college, I understand that they are
there for education, not money and the sport doesn t have enough money to pay the college
athletes but even a small percentage of some kind of income would be generous. There are athletes
that get their jersey sold for mounts of money but get nothing from it. The jersey they bleed, sweat

9th Grade Year Research Paper
I never would have thought that ninth grade year would be the toughest year of my life. I went
from being able to do all kinds of physical activities to being on crutches. I was on crutches two
weeks longer than my surgeon expected. Even after the crutches nothing seemed the same. The
best way for me to get back to my old self was to attend physical therapy sessions twice a week.
Even to this day I can feel a part of me is missing. I would soon begin to get my mobility back as
my therapy sessions progressed throughout several weeks. Ninth grade year I decided to enter
myself into two separate racing series. One series I attended was the Dirty Foot Adventures
motocross series. The second one would be the top tier of BMX. I had intentions to race my
first every Disney Cup where trophies were the size of small children. I was extremely excited
to have the opportunity to get into BMX which at the time was a new sport to me but easy to
transition into due to my motocross background. At the age of two I got my first ever dirt bike
for Christmas, it was a Honda XR50. Soon my family s passion became mine as I would grow.
Several years go as I would continuously progress in the motorsports world. In my free time as a

Summary Of Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication Of Rights...
Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of Rights of Women is a treatise concerning how she
views society in 1792. She observes the oppression of women and the lack of education in
society. Wollstonecraft is saying that men hold more influence over society than. The society,
community, life itself is organized for men to succeed and be successful.[Oppression and
Women s History, Linda Napikoski and Jone Johnson Lewis, 2017]. Women were used to
pleasing men and only focus on dressing nice and staying quiet[Oppression and Women s

women being under men for everything. Women are still to this day being oppressed and treated
unfairly. Women face issues such as sexual violence, underpaid, or even getting shamed.( 10

Tariff In America
Tariffs have a great need to be fully increased across the board, first of all. If the tariffs were
more costly the money it will costs to outsource the services or products sold by companies will
eventually here in America to then start using more Americans to produce similar goods needed
to make the companies goods and services. I understand it s always better way to have any
country use their own locals to do the work in general to get things instead of getting out of the
foreign companies to make our electronics, shoes, clothes, toys, etc., and yes I can see how China

The end result is that consumers pay more for the goods. With history we have seen many I don
t like the idea of jobs that leave our country, as I have lost a job before, because the medical

it safely here, the company we worked for leased the machine for 2 workers to run not so safely

we would continue to lose jobs to other countries with cheaper labor cost. It is believed that it will
continue to add to the unemployment rate and increase the money lost from the U.S. economy and
not coming back. Tariffs have proven that they can keep the jobs in the U.S. and the money will
stay too, which will be spent on in stores, in local restaurants, housing, entertainment, groceries and
other stuff. In the past and at times some still think of tariffs as a bad word. Yes things here in

Human Trafficking And The Media
Human trafficking has become an emerging worldwide public health crisis that has been
understudied and under published by both society and the media. Human trafficking has affected
men, woman, and children in varying ways. Human trafficking is not solely sex trafficking it is
segmented into various categories. Trafficking includes but is not limited to sexual exploitation,
forced labor, debt bondage, involuntary servitude, and trafficking of cells and organs. The way the
media frames human trafficking has a rippling effect towards the audience and societies
perspective. Positively using the media can influence society and can possibly help fight against
human trafficking. The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), along with the Convention
on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and the 14th
Amendment have all stated their views against human trafficking. The United States Department of
State (2015) states, trafficking in persons, human trafficking, and modern slaveryhave been used as
umbrella terms for the act of recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person
for compelled labor or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud, or coercion (p. 7).
Human trafficking is mostly thought of as sex trafficking of woman and children but this is not the
only way traffickers use woman and children. Women, children, and men are all subject to different
types of servitude. The most widely recognized one

Effects Of Imagination Inflation
Imagination Inflation
Although it may seem feasible for an individual to generate an inaccurate memory of an
experienced event based on misinformation, it may not seem feasible for an individual to create a
complete false memory of an event they have never experienced; however, research has shown that
imagination can be a powerful source of false memories. In the imagination inflation effect,
performed actions versus imagined actions are confused in hindsight. Humans also have the ability
to imagine other people s behavior. (Decety Grezes, 2006).
The typical imagination inflation paradigm occurs in three phases (Sharman, Manning, Gary,
2005). During the first phase, participants complete a Life Events Inventory (LEI, Gary, Manning,
Loftus, Sherman, 1996) questionnaire suggesting the probability that they experienced certain
events as a child. The second phase is the imagining phase during which participants imagine how
and when some of the events could have transpired. The third phase involves completing a LEI
questionnaire again, and most of the time participants are informed that the original copies have
been lost. This paradigm demonstrates how participants can be manipulated into being confident
and believing that certain events occurred during their childhood, which causes them to create a
false memory (Leding 2012). Other studies support the imagination inflation paradigm by
validating that individual s confidence increases because of imagining an event (Heaps

Tone Of The Poem Chicago By Carl Sandburg
Chicago written by Carl Sandburg is an eloquent piece of literature about the lives of the people
in Chicago and the city as a whole. Life in the city is described as a: wicked, crooked, and brutal
way of life. Sandburg describes the poverty and grittiness of what he was exposed to, but also
how the people there are hardworking even if they sometimes have to resort to doing jobs they do
not especially enjoy. Throughout the entire poem Sandburg uses: personification, vivid imagery,
and a shrewd choice of words to portray a proud tone.
The poem begins as Sandburg introduces the specific types of work that would fall into the
category of hard labor, that is often associated with Chicago in late 1800s early 1900s. Hog butcher

The city of Chicago is referred to as if it were a living, breathing, vibrant person. The entire poem
personifies Chicago into a living entity. He describes Chicago as a human with Big Shoulders ,
head singing , white teeth , and the heart of the people . He is so convincing that as you read you
feel like he is talking about a living pulsing person. In the second verse, Sandburg speaks to
Chicago in a way you might discuss someones past. They tell me you are wicked also They tell
me you are crooked .(SANDBUR 727) In each example sandburg agrees with Chicago s less than
perfect reputation. However the poet sees through all the roughness and sees the liveliness and
excitement that existed in the city. Furthering his purpose Sandburg defends the city referring to
its lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning (14 15). In the final
stanza, Sandburg moves from personification to a simile Fierce as a dog with tongue lapping for
action, cunning as a savage pitted against the wilderness (18). Then, as if in a drumming cadence
to make a sort of thumping emotional appeal of how he sees Chicago, Sandburg uses an
astonishingly effective series of words that precisely indicates what he sees in

George s, The And The Axis During World War II
General S. Patton once said, Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they
will surprise you with their ingenuity. Some may argue that his life was cut short while others
may say it was too long. Being a man who fought in World War I and World War II, George S.
Patton, Jr. certainly contained a wealth of experience in warfare. Looking at the written history,
there were those who seemed to undervalue Patton, as well as those who may have held him much
too high. Researchers have many different opinions on Patton s leadership, but the research here
will encompass both the positive and the negative aspects of his leadership and surrounding issues
while addressing the following questions:
1.How was Patton as a leader?
2.Patton versus Politics Did this hold back his true potential?
3.How was Patton viewed by the Allies and the Axis during World WarII?
The research put forth will focus on these three questions.
George Smith Patton, Jr. was born November 11, 1885, well over one hundred years ago. He is
famously known for somewhat outrageous personality and his conduct as a general during World
War II. The family he was born into was wealthy and one with a very extensive military
background, with family members having participated in the Revolutionary War, Mexican War, as
well as the Civil War. This may explain a little about Patton s almost obsessive study of military
history ranging from the Romans to the Napoleonic Wars (CMG Worldwide, Inc., n.d.).

This resulted in a 5.86% error. This percentage error is small enough to know that the usage of
the calculated freezing point of pure p xylene in future equations was going to lead to fairly
accurate data relating to this value. The unknown solute A was identified as Octane with a
molar mass of 1827.65 grams with an actual value of 114.23 grams. This produced an extremely
large percentage error of 1499.97%. The unknown solute C was determined to be Decane with
its calculated molar mass of 137.67 grams compared to the actual value of 142.29 grams. This
led to a percentage error of 3.24%. The unknown solute D had a calculated molar mass of 78.28
grams and was identified to be Hexane with its molar mass close to the actual molar mass of
86.18 grams. This meant that there was a percentage error of 9.17%. Finally, the molar mass of
ethanol was calculated to be 182.70 grams. When compared to the actual molar mass of ethanol
of 46.07 grams, a percentage error of 296.31% is obtained. The reason that these two molar mass
values are so different is because of the properties of the solute ethanol. Unlike the nonpolar
solvent p xylene, ethanol is a polar molecule. In chemistry, likes prefer to dissolve in likes. What
this means is that nonpolar solutes dissolve in nonpolar solvents, while polar solutes dissolve in
polar solvents. Since the polar ethanol is not able

This means that no consumer ends up paying higher prices. This definitely is a positive
consequence of fixed price approach for buyers with high level of income.
There is a big number of the volatile price approaches. According to one of them the price of the
tickets increases as the special event comes closer. This is done in order to motivate the buyers
to purchase the tickets as soon as possible. Buyers are often excited about this opportunity and
purchase tickets immediately after they become available for sale. Sometimes this happens even
a year before the special event. Certainly, such extemporaneous purchases disrupt the budgets of
the ticket buyers. Therefore they are unable to purchase the goods or services they planned to. On
contrast, under fixed price approach the buyers are guaranteed one and the same ticket price at
any moment. Therefore the fixed price approach provides for the buyers the opportunity to budget
the purchase of the tickets. For example, a person can save 10 percents of his or her salary during
a three month period of time and then to use this amount for the purchase of the tickets. This is
another positive consequence of fixed price approach.
Under the second degree price discrimination the seller provides a special discount for buyers who
purchase a big number of tickets (or any other kind of goods)[2]. The

calculated how far away each Cepheid laid as well as how far to each nebula and discovered they

outside of the Milky Way. Lastly, Hubble discovered the Big Bang Theory. He studied ancient light

directions. The support to back this up is light from other galaxies and how the spectral lines
almost shifted towards the red end of the spectrum as red shift galaxies are moving away, making
Earth expand. Hubble s key discoveries have helped many scientists conclude exactly how our

Philosophy of Education Essay
Philosophy of Education
One of the most privileged professions in the world today is teaching. Teachers can influence the
youth of a culture in a way no one else can. Teachers have the honorable responsibility of education.
Students develop mentally, socially, and ethically within the realm of academic education. While in
this critical stage of development, students are given the laboratory of the classroom to test
themselves in ways that are more risky after graduation. Teachers play a crucial rolein this
laboratory. I believe that the most important way I can serve my students while fulfilling this role is

I will treat these students as if they will eventually change perspectives, even if they never do.
Treating all students with respect, I believe that having high expectations and recognizing each
student s positive potential will contribute greatly to the students I teach.
My performance as a teacher is also very important. I believe in continually reflecting on my
teaching practices and improving them as I accommodate to each new class. My teaching habits,
such as organization, consistency, and effective classroom management, will always need to be
revised and improved to create the best classroom learning environment. Meeting national, state,
regional, and school academic standards are also very important to me. As an employee of the
state, I feel obligated to do my best to teach the required knowledge effectively, through creative
activities that are accommodating to all learners. I hold a very high standard for myself
professionally, and hope to constantly improve my teaching strategies through reflection.
Through literature, students can be empowered with the knowledge that no one person could teach
them. Knowledge gained through literature not only prepares students to live in a world where
reading and writing proficiency are required for success, but also helps students mature emotionally,
mentally, and socially. Through the middle and high school years, students

homicides of Duke Lavery, Rivera and a court witness (7/6). Julian finds the wire, takes her to the
docks and nearly slits her throat before Sonny rescues her and she s able to stab him (7/8). As a
result of working in Julian s favor while she was Carlos lawyer, Alexis is temporarily disbarred (8
/17). Leading up to being a star witness for the prosecution in Julian s trial, she has... Show more

She thinks she stabbed and killed him (1/9) until her full memory returns while talking to the
police (1/30). Alexis joins Alcoholics Anonymous (1/11) and tells Sam what s been going on (1
/24). Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) cheats on Aaron and has sex with Parker (Ashley Jones) when
she reveals she may be getting a divorce (7/20). Sonny sees Kristina kissing Parker (7/22) and
they have a heart to heart about her sexual orientation (7/26).When Alexis confronts and reminds
Parker that she has no long term intentions with Kristina (7/26), she sends a Dear John letter (7
/28). Kristina blames Alexis for Parker s change of mind and throws Julian in her face (8/12).
Parker tells Kristina she s going back to her wife, proving Alexis right (8/25). Molly (Haley Pullos)
and TJ (Tequan Richmond) get a place together (6/16).
My Commentary: The downward spiral of JuLexis was exciting, entertaining and fascinating, and
anytime Grahn is given sordid material it s a good day because she slays it, but it was also another
example of detrimental short term writing. Julian was written into a such a hole, that it would be
virtually impossible to get him out or restore the coupling in the way that wouldn t be utterly

The Positive Effects Of Retainment
There have been many studies performed in recent years over the effects of retainment. The
reasoning behind why a student is being retained can be a big deciding factor on whether it will
end with success or not. When a child is behind their peers because of age or numerous absences,
retainment is an option for them. At an older level, kids have a higher rate of success than those
who have been retained (Davis School District, 2011). When repeating a grade, they can have
success the next year, and can gain more confidence. However, retainment works best for students
when at a young, lower elementary age. Research has shown that retaining a studentcan often point
them in a negative direction. Students can experience bad impacts in all areas

Disney And Disney Of Disney Land Essay
When asked about Disney the overwhelming majority will have happy thoughts associated with
Disney. However, my research into Euro Disney radically changes my opinion on such a
glamourous franchise. This is coming from one of the biggest Disney advocates in the world, Euro
Disney is an embarrassment to the Disney name as well as the brand. The disrespectful manner
Disney went about creating a new world in a foreign nation lead directly to its looming demise.
Disney world has invented an immensely strong brand that is easily one of the most recognized
brands in the history of the world. Through making heartwarming movies for families Walt Disney
created characters that were completely embraced and beloved by all. Walt Disney was able to
provide people with an escape to a world full of happiness based on his characters. Most notably he
created Mickey Mouse which allowed the Disney company to spin an entirely new world after
Walt s death in 1955 called Disney Land. From the creation of Disney Land in 1955 the company
has expanded into six different resorts/theme parks making over billions of dollars and one of the
most successful business models of all time.
A way a person behaves and thinks is influenced by where they are raised. The reason for this is
because they are exposed to certain situations that may only be prevalent in the area where they
live. In other terms this can be seen as cultural differences. Cultural differences can vary drastically
from city to city.

Are Animal Experiments For Cosmetic Research Necessary And...
Are animal experiments for cosmetic research necessary and can they be justified?
Abstract:
This report investigates animal is cosmetic testing. The introduction outlines the focus of this
report, the history of animal testing and presenting relevant case studies to illustrate the issue. The
discussion provides in depth information about animal testing by presenting two sides of the story.
The conclusion will highlight the main points learned to help decide if animal experiments are,
indeed, necessary.
Methodology:
Searching online became useful for secondary sources. Websites such as BUAV (British Union for
the Abolition of Vivisection), which offered a useful timeline, like the Cruelty Free International
campaign and how these actions contributed to stopping animal testing in the EU. Cruelty Free
International is supported by a number of celebrities including Ricky Gervais and Sir Paul
McCartney. PeTA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) provided information about the
types and alternatives of testing. The website also listed alternatives to animal testing, such as the
Human skin models, which are considered in this report.
News articles by the BBC were very helpful when considering the pros and cons of animal testing.
A blog by The Beauty Brains provided a scientist s opinion. Social networks e.g. Facebook and
YouTube offered access to video campaigns and the public s opinions.
Primary sources were used to experience face to face research, asking

  • 2. My Evidence In My Writing Throughout quarter 1, I believe that my ability to find and apply evidence to my writings has improved over the quarter. Although this skill is still a work in progress for me, I have noticed tremendous growth in my own confidence through it. My credibility of my evidence has improved through class discussions. After the disobedience writing, i saw that i performed well on that specific writing. For me this specific writing was not challenging because I knew historical events that i could use for my evidence. By having that background knowledge, it made it less challenging to write for that prompt. I did well because i referenced historical events for my evidence. This created credibility in my writing because it was a use of historical facts that were connected to the prompt. • 3. Mission San Antonio Analysis According to one of the friars from Mission Soledad, Native Americans had a fondness for every kind of music (Geiger and Meighan 1976:135). This was not exclusive to this mission as many of the padres from the Geiger and Meighan reading said that the natives had an inclination toward music. This enthusiasm for music gave the padres an opportunity to use this to their advantage as the natives would be more willing to learn and adopt European music compared to other European ways. But even with this seemingly perfect opportunity, the padres faced many difficulties in simply teaching the natives even though all of them had studied music and sung in choirs prior to coming to the New World. They were simply not professional musicians, according to the padre from mission San Antonio (Geiger and Meighan 1976:135). • 4. Erikson s Psychosocial Theory And Psychosocial Development Theories and Theorists Theories are the building blocks of psychology. Theories whether old or new has allowed us to know what we know now. There are many theories in the field of psychology or educational psychology that are important to further understand human behavior. However, this paper will focus on only two theories which are; Erikson s psychosocial theory and Alfred Adlers Adlerian theory. Erik Erikson s psychosocial development has always been a great contribution to the field of psychology by Erik Erikson (Berk, 2007). Erikson suggested that everyone experiences a series of psychosocial stages instead of psychosexual stages as proposed by Sigmund Freud. Despite the fact that Erikson disagreed with Sigmund Freud in so many areas in his psychosexual theory, it was actually Freud s psychosexual theory that helped Erikson formulate his own psychosocial theory and Erikson was very much influenced by Sigmund and his work (Erikson, 1968). So even if Erikson disagreed with Freud, Sigmund actually contributed to Erikson s psychosocial theory because if it wasn t for Freud s shortcomings in his psychosexual theory, Erikson would not have come up with his own psychosocial theory (Erikson, 1968). Freud and Erikson hold opposite views on many things. However, they did agree on a few things to like how they both believed that personality develops in a series of set stages. • 5. What Was The Fall Of The Roman Empire The Fall of the Roman Empire The Roman Empire, at its highest, was prosperous and extremely powerful. Its extensive territories, strong economy and government structures, and huge bureaucracy, formed a stable empire of utmost greatness. Augustus formally started the Roman Empire in 27 BC and it was a mighty empire for a long time until it eventually fell in 476 AD. The fall of the Roman Empire was gradual and caused by a variety of factors, however leadership failure was the major contributor overall. The Roman Empire had quite a number of insane and inarguably autocratic emperors, beginning with Tiberius, Augustus son in law. Tiberius was cold and paranoid, and immediately dissipated all the prestige of Rome that Augustus had built before him. He disposed of anyone he did not like and was referred to by the Romans as Old Goat. Next in line was Tiberius grandnephew, Caligula, who carried the role of Princeps to an extreme. Caligula ordered the public to address him as God and wanted his horse to be elected as consul to show that the Republic was dead. He constantly mocked the government and essentially had no real conscience. Then Nero later took the leadership role as the youngest man to become emperor at the age of 16. At first, his moves were good, then there was a sudden shift from his virtuous ways to insanity. In 64 AD, there was a fire in Rome, the cause unknown, and Nero recited lines from Homer as his city went up in flames. He also regularly had concerts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Developing And Managing Offerings Process DEVELOPING AND MANAGING OFFERINGS The seven steps in the offering development process are idea generation, idea screening, features specification, development, testing, marketing and evaluation. THE ACTIVITIES INVOLVED: 1. Idea generation This is the first stage and it is easy and less expensive to generate, but the most expensive part of this is making it a reality. The activities involved are carrying out a research using SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threat), focus group and corporate spies to get an idea into developing a new product. Creating the idea and gathering information from customers by watching and listening to them is another activity involved in idea generation and determine if the offering is worth pursuing. The idea can come from anywhere; it could be from employee, customers, suppliers, competitors and distributors. 2. Idea screening This is the second stage in the offering development process. At this stage, the idea created, gathered and about to be developed is looked into properly to determine if: i. it will add value to customer, ii. it will it meet the need of the customers, iii. it will it be ready, the quantity and the price to sell to the market iv. it is within the budget of the company; v. the company will make a profit and how much. While there, I have worked with children who come from completely opposite sides of the socioeconomic, language, and development spectrums. My first year gave me my greatest teaching dilemma I have faced yet. Preschool girl twins were placed in my classroom after moving from Africa just days prior. I quickly learned that he will have a meltdown if something is wrong with his clothes like if he spilt milk on his shirt and was wet or if there was a rock in his shoe and it hurt. I also observed that he constantly has to be touching something whether it be another child, the pictures on the wall, the rug on the ground, and anything in between. During a meltdown, I would talk to him on his level face to face and stay calm when asking what is wrong and what can I do to help him. I continuously reassured him that he has an extra shirt that is dry and all we have to do is take his shoe off to get the rock out. I also changed the way that I taught him lessons by giving him physical objects of what we were talking about to hold on to and feel. I had no middle of the day plans, so I spent my day relaxing and watching internet shows on Netflix. Later, I took some time to text my stepfather, because my car broke down. Once I got my car mobile, I sang along to the radio while I drove home. A week later, September 17th on a weekend day, I used the same types of media again. I spent a few hours watching Netflix, until I became motivated to study for the exams I had to take the next day. Then I studied for the rest of the day, using google to help me define and look up information. Late that night I song along to the radio while I shower and decided to keep it playing as I fell asleep. Although I did different activities through the days, both days I used many of the same media types, and most were around the same time of day. On these days, the media that took up most the time was watching Netflix. I spent about 2 hours and 30 minutes each day watching the online shows. The time I starting watching was roughly 1:00 p.m. and I did not watch any shows pasted 5:00 or 6:00 pm, on both days. Another media I used on both days is Snapchat, a form of social media. On both days, I used Snapchat close to when I woke up, and right before I went to bed. Snapchat wasn t the only media I used right before bed, although I used text messages at small amounts throughout both days, before bed I d text for a longer period, between 30 minutes to an hour. The radio was a very prevalent media but it was not consistent like the other media types at certain times of the day, only while I was driving, showering, or sleeping. Some of my media usage shocked me. It surprised me how much of my time I spent watching online shows. I reacted by being disappointed about what I spent my time doing compared to what I could have spent my time doing. I felt lazy, and embarrassed. Much of media used in both days were Netflix and the radio. Neither of these types of media are productive, or helped me accomplish anything. I used the medias for my entertainment. • 10. A Human-Friendly Method of Treating Acid Mine Drainage The worldwide problem of acid mine drainage causes harm to waterways, plants, animals, and even humans. Acid mine drainage is water with a high acidity content that originates from water coming in contact with highly acidic bearing materials in rocks. Those rocks are common in mining regions, which is why acidmine drainage is such a problem for those locations, including the coal mining region of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The water affected by acid mine drainage becomes yellow or orange in color due to the presence of dissolved iron in the oxygen rich water and the water reeks of sulfur. The water from acid mine drainage has a high pHlevel and can be dangerous if it comes in contact with living organisms. Acid mine drainage occurs gradually, with some scientists and governmental officials predicting some cases of acid mine drainage may be around for as long as a thousand years (Earthworks Action). Acid mine drainage is a monetary burden as well as an environmental one. The materials used in the common chemical treatment processes for acid mine drainage are very costly, with materials costing nearly $1,000 per gallon. Six primary chemicals are used to treat acid mine drainage, and they are: calcium carbonate, calcium hydroxide, calcium oxide, sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide(in solid, 20% liquid and 50% liquid forms), and anhydrous ammonia (Skousen, Hilton and Faulkner, Overview of Acid Mine Drainage Treatment with Chemicals). Therefore, more than ever it is becoming increasingly difficult to disrupt the large base of habitual consumers. A consumer s buying process is what must be closely analyzed by any existing or new firm that is attempting to be competitive in today s business environment. A customer will have both utilitarian and hedonic needs. Often companies will attempt to merge these two types of needs in order to create an all encompassing experience. For example, the Wegmans store experience doesn t only satisfy the utilitarian need of purchasing groceries, it also provides stimulation (an aspect of satisfying hedonic needs) through visuals and well organized displays. Paying attention to such details and so creating a multi dimensional experience creates a competitive advantage. The first part of the book is about the story of Kracha, our first protagonist. Kracha left Slovakia to come to America for more opportunities. As Kracha settled in America, he married Elena. Life in the United States was rough for the Kracha s family, and it turned out just as difficult as in his homeland. Kracha worked different jobs and realized that they were all low wage. He ended up working at the Mills. The next story is about Kracha s son in law, Mike Dobrejcak who married to Mary. When Mike was killed in a terrible accident at the Mills, Mary had to do her best to raise their children. The next story is about Dobie, one of Mary s sons. As the story progresses the next generation has an easier life than the previous one. However, they struggled to make a living. For example, Dobie did illegal work for a living. The experiences of George Kracha were very similar to those experiences of many immigrants to the United States in the late 19th century. There are by far 100 reasons why college footballathlete should get paid. They invest about 50 60 hours a week and lower to 40 50 hours a week once the season and classes begin along with 12 15 hours of weight training and 15 20 hours a week getting ready for the spring season. They invest their blood, sweat, and tears just to do what they love and put their all into it in order to have a chance to get drafted to a better school and pursue their dreams. There are thousands of foundations that are invested in the colleges make money off of the players but the individuals that are actually doing most of the work, the real hard work, don t and that s unfair and yes we all know sports are not meant to be fair but when it comes to your career you have to do what you have to do. Let s talk more about the other factors that claim why college football athletes should get paid. majority of the coaches make $53.4 million in salaries and 0% goes the athletes. NCAA College Football Makes Money then so should the college players. The NCAA and its most well known teams make a profit along with The University of Texas made over $100 million in profit in just a year of 2011. With so much money coming in you would think at least 25% would go to the players, the players are expected to do slave labor without a cut? This whole debate is coming down to fairness. The logical reason why the college football athletes don t get paid is that most of them got full ride scholarships to college, I understand that they are there for education, not money and the sport doesn t have enough money to pay the college athletes but even a small percentage of some kind of income would be generous. • 23. 9th Grade Year Research Paper I never would have thought that ninth grade year would be the toughest year of my life. I went from being able to do all kinds of physical activities to being on crutches. I was on crutches two weeks longer than my surgeon expected. Even after the crutches nothing seemed the same. The best way for me to get back to my old self was to attend physical therapy sessions twice a week. Even to this day I can feel a part of me is missing. I would soon begin to get my mobility back as my therapy sessions progressed throughout several weeks. Ninth grade year I decided to enter myself into two separate racing series. One series I attended was the Dirty Foot Adventures motocross series. The second one would be the top tier of BMX. I had intentions to race my first every Disney Cup where trophies were the size of small children. I was extremely excited to have the opportunity to get into BMX which at the time was a new sport to me but easy to transition into due to my motocross background. At the age of two I got my first ever dirt bike for Christmas, it was a Honda XR50. Soon my family s passion became mine as I would grow. Several years go as I would continuously progress in the motorsports world. In my free time as a kid I would get out my X Games ramps I got as a present one Christmas and set them up outside. Women face issues such as sexual violence, underpaid, or even getting shamed.( 10 challenges, Ms. Magazine, 2017). • 27. Human Trafficking And The Media Human trafficking has become an emerging worldwide public health crisis that has been understudied and under published by both society and the media. Human trafficking has affected men, woman, and children in varying ways. Human trafficking is not solely sex trafficking it is segmented into various categories. Trafficking includes but is not limited to sexual exploitation, forced labor, debt bondage, involuntary servitude, and trafficking of cells and organs. The way the media frames human trafficking has a rippling effect towards the audience and societies perspective. Positively using the media can influence society and can possibly help fight against human trafficking. The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), along with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and the 14th Amendment have all stated their views against human trafficking. The United States Department of State (2015) states, trafficking in persons, human trafficking, and modern slaveryhave been used as umbrella terms for the act of recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for compelled labor or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud, or coercion (p. 7). • 28. Effects Of Imagination Inflation Imagination Inflation Although it may seem feasible for an individual to generate an inaccurate memory of an experienced event based on misinformation, it may not seem feasible for an individual to create a complete false memory of an event they have never experienced; however, research has shown that imagination can be a powerful source of false memories. In the imagination inflation effect, performed actions versus imagined actions are confused in hindsight. Humans also have the ability to imagine other people s behavior. (Decety Grezes, 2006). The typical imagination inflation paradigm occurs in three phases (Sharman, Manning, Gary, 2005). During the first phase, participants complete a Life Events Inventory (LEI, Gary, Manning, Loftus, Sherman, 1996) questionnaire suggesting the probability that they experienced certain events as a child. The second phase is the imagining phase during which participants imagine how and when some of the events could have transpired. The third phase involves completing a LEI questionnaire again, and most of the time participants are informed that the original copies have been lost. This paradigm demonstrates how participants can be manipulated into being confident and believing that certain events occurred during their childhood, which causes them to create a false memory (Leding 2012). Other studies support the imagination inflation paradigm by validating that individual s confidence increases because of imagining an event (Heaps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Tone Of The Poem Chicago By Carl Sandburg Chicago written by Carl Sandburg is an eloquent piece of literature about the lives of the people in Chicago and the city as a whole. Life in the city is described as a: wicked, crooked, and brutal way of life. Sandburg describes the poverty and grittiness of what he was exposed to, but also how the people there are hardworking even if they sometimes have to resort to doing jobs they do not especially enjoy. Throughout the entire poem Sandburg uses: personification, vivid imagery, and a shrewd choice of words to portray a proud tone. They tell me you are wicked also They tell me you are crooked .(SANDBUR 727) In each example sandburg agrees with Chicago s less than perfect reputation. However the poet sees through all the roughness and sees the liveliness and excitement that existed in the city. Furthering his purpose Sandburg defends the city referring to its lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning (14 15). In the final stanza, Sandburg moves from personification to a simile Fierce as a dog with tongue lapping for action, cunning as a savage pitted against the wilderness (18). Some may argue that his life was cut short while others may say it was too long. Being a man who fought in World War I and World War II, George S. Patton, Jr. certainly contained a wealth of experience in warfare. Looking at the written history, there were those who seemed to undervalue Patton, as well as those who may have held him much too high. Researchers have many different opinions on Patton s leadership, but the research here will encompass both the positive and the negative aspects of his leadership and surrounding issues while addressing the following questions: 1.How was Patton as a leader? 2.Patton versus Politics Did this hold back his true potential? 3.How was Patton viewed by the Allies and the Axis during World WarII? The research put forth will focus on these three questions. George Smith Patton, Jr. was born November 11, 1885, well over one hundred years ago. He is famously known for somewhat outrageous personality and his conduct as a general during World War II. The family he was born into was wealthy and one with a very extensive military background, with family members having participated in the Revolutionary War, Mexican War, as well as the Civil War. This may explain a little about Patton s almost obsessive study of military history ranging from the Romans to the Napoleonic Wars (CMG Worldwide, Inc., n.d.). He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The unknown solute C was determined to be Decane with its calculated molar mass of 137.67 grams compared to the actual value of 142.29 grams. This led to a percentage error of 3.24%. The unknown solute D had a calculated molar mass of 78.28 grams and was identified to be Hexane with its molar mass close to the actual molar mass of 86.18 grams. When compared to the actual molar mass of ethanol of 46.07 grams, a percentage error of 296.31% is obtained. The reason that these two molar mass values are so different is because of the properties of the solute ethanol. Unlike the nonpolar solvent p xylene, ethanol is a polar molecule. According to one of them the price of the tickets increases as the special event comes closer. This is done in order to motivate the buyers to purchase the tickets as soon as possible. Buyers are often excited about this opportunity and purchase tickets immediately after they become available for sale. Sometimes this happens even a year before the special event. Certainly, such extemporaneous purchases disrupt the budgets of the ticket buyers. Therefore they are unable to purchase the goods or services they planned to. On contrast, under fixed price approach the buyers are guaranteed one and the same ticket price at any moment. Therefore the fixed price approach provides for the buyers the opportunity to budget the purchase of the tickets. For example, a person can save 10 percents of his or her salary during a three month period of time and then to use this amount for the purchase of the tickets.
