Positron emission tomography (PET) is a type of nuclear medicine imaging which uses
radiotracers or also called as radiopharmaceuticals в€’ minute amount of radioactive substances
labelled bio compounds. This test shows the function of tissues and organs such as sugar
metabolism, oxygen use and blood flow instead of mere structural images of, for instance blood
flow to and from organs illustrated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed

Child Protective Services And Foster Care
A child living in the 21st century is no stranger to poverty and the desperate lifestyles it promotes.
Too often the case, children, living in families with incomes below the nation s poverty line, are
limited to criminal activities, low level education, and blue collar employment. Furthermore, years
of economic strife in the United States have invited a cycle of povertyto predetermine the lives of
children in poverty stricken families, where they are raised with insufficient care and inadequate
resources in unstable environments. Not that it is in any way the fault of the parents, whose
financial situation isn t always an accurate reflection of their parental capability, the government s
assumes the responsibility of removing children... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In accordance to Dorothy Roberts, professor of Law and Sociology at the University of
Pennsylvania, Foster Care addresses family economic deprivation with child removal rather than
services and financial resources. Moreover, the activities of the Foster Care system, despite it
being a vital component of the nation s child welfare systems, offers a temporary solution to
treat the cycle of poverty, removing children, like one would in the case of an earthquake, away
from the vicinity, except in this case it s their homes and families. This is done when the
providing of services and financial resources would do more than suffice, and as a result one
third of children in foster care are black, despite black children making up only 15 percent of the
nation s children. (Roberts) In addition to this, the racial imbalance present in the child welfare
system feeds off the notion that children with African American parents are more at risk than
children with white parents. A study done by PBS showed that in Chicago 95 percent of
children in foster care are black., and in 1997, New York City s foster care system had only
1,300 white children, with black children 10 times as likely as white children to be in state
protective custody. (Roberts) black children in the child welfare system are placed in foster care at
twice the rate for white children., and a national study of child protective

The Pepsi Of Coca Cola
History Coca Cola was founded in 1886 by Dr. John S. Pemberton. After creating flavored syrup,
he took it to his neighborhood pharmacy where it got mixed with carbonated water. Frank M.
Robinson, Dr. Pemberton s partner and bookkeeper, is credited with naming the beverage Coca
Cola. After a couple years, Dr. Pemberton began selling portions of his business. The majority
was sold to Asa G. Candler who decided to expand the product to soda fountains outside of
Atlanta, Georgia. From here, he noticed there was a growing demand for Coca Cola which
brought about the aspiration to make Coca Cola portable. Joseph Biedenharn became the first
person to put Coke in a bottle and sell it. Within five years, the bottles were in large scale
production.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Dispute Over The Diaoyu Islands
Origins of the Conflict the US s Policy Mistakes that BiteThe dispute over the Diaoyu Islands is
an instance of imprudent United States (US) policies coming back to bite several decades later.
The Diaoyu Islands are no more than five uninhabited islands that lie close to China and Taiwan
s coast. Today, these tiny islands are the source of intense conflict between China and Japan. The
US made two bad policy decisions that led to the stalemate today. First was the poor post war
treatment of Japanese territory in 1951, and second was to allow the problem to go unresolved
when the issue re emerged in 1972. After Japan s defeat in World War II, the US was given
jurisdiction over Japan s territory until settlements were made. In 1951, the US and Japan signed
the San Francisco Peace Treaty that returned to Japan all the islands south of the 29В°N line. The
Diaoyu Islands, which were south of that line, were partitioned to Japan. Neither China nor Taiwan
was party to the negotiations that led to the treaty. The Diaoyu Islands conflict resurfaced in the
1970s as China and Japan talked about normalizing relations. 1972 marked the first time that mass
protests over the Diaoyu Islands occurred in Taiwan, China, and among certain groups in Japan, but
those protests were ignored. The short term political concerns at the time were to normalize
relations between China and Japan, and the details did not matter as much as building an alliance
between the two countries to

Diageo Executive Summary
Diageo s stock price increased $1.74 from $21.10 as of December 31, 2017 to $22.84 as of
March 31, 2017. The increase can be primarily attributed to the company s reported growth in
profit for the first half of its 2017 fiscal year. Better than expected revenue growth, fueled by
favorable exchange rates, drove the increase in profitability. Surprisingly, the company reported
that revenues increased in each of its geographic markets. Such growth may mark the reversal of a
period of relatively flat growth for the company. Investors responded positively to the news, thus
fueling the quarterly increase in price.

The 5% increase can be primarily attributed to two factors: the company s strong financial
performance for Q4 2016 and speculation regarding the company s next moves as it remains on
the sidelines of the mergers and acquisitions wave that has been dominating industry news
cycles. On February 24, 2017, BASF reported its Q4 2016 and full year results. One highlight
from the announcement included a reported 7% increase in sales for the fourth quarter of 2016 as
compared to the fourth quarter of 2015. Additionally, the company reported an increase of 15% in
EBIT as compared to the fourth quarter 2015. As for the full year, the company reported that sales
had decreased by 18%. However, it is important to note that the company divested its gas trading
and storage business as part of an asset swap with Gazprom at the end of September 2015. The
aforementioned business unit had contributed 10.1 billion in sales in 2015. As such, the
portfolio effects noted above accounted for 15% of the decline in overall sales. Sales prices
decreased, but the company was able to consistently raise sales volumes over the course of the
year. Dr. Kurt Bock, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, stated that the rise in sales
volumes quarter to quarter shows that the high investments we made in research and development
and new production capacity in recent years are paying off. Given the substantial increase in
profitability and sales volume, the Chairman expressed that the company was cautiously
optimistic for 2017. Investors seemed to respond positively to the company s performance. On
Friday, February 24, 2017, the company s closing stock price was 87.36. By March 3, 2017, one
week later, the closing stock price had risen to 90.27. In regards to the aforementioned second
factor contributing to the company s increase in stock price, speculation regarding the company s

The Search for Inhabitable exoplanets
Throughout the history of humanity, numerous scientists have been intrigued by the search for
inhabitable exoplanets. To date, such ventures are still in the developmental stages and the
discovery of life beyond earth and the solar system , regardless of how primitive it may be, may
soon be regarded as a fundamental breakthrough in astronomy (Jones Mukai, 2007). The
fundamental properties to be considered if a place is habitable are: presence of organic materials,
water and energy sources. Habitability of the planet also takes into consideration, nearness of the

2011). The closest known exoplanet orbiting star is called Epislon Eridani, which is 63 trillion
miles away it is close to 14,000 times away from Neptune, the farthest planets in our solar system
(Horner Jones, 2010). Due to the great distance, exoplanets cannot be viewed directly since the
amount of light they reflect is too faint to be detected from a far off distance (Horner Jones,
2010). Alternatively, scientists infer the presence of an exoplanet from the changes in wavelength
of light illuminating from the star, this may be caused by the gravitational pull from an orbiting
planet or the regulation of brightness of the star due to transiting planets. When Fermi Paradox
was proposed initially, most people thought planets were rare. Nevertheless, since then the
astrological tools have discovered the existence of numerous exoplanets. However, with each new
discovery of an earth like planet for instance Epislon Eridani, it becomes less likely that there
could exist a planet apart from the Earth that can support life. Using methods such as those stated
above, scientists have been able to discover hundreds of exoplanets and the first detection was in
1995. Once they detect one, they begin evaluating it to ascertain whether it can support life. Further,
they analyze the light spectrum that radiates from the star in order to reveal the properties of the
planet. The hunt is still on for planets, which are about the size of earth and those that are

The Pros And Cons Of Online Privacy
Chapter 5 deals with a disturbing topic involving online privacy. The word privacy means the
access the media, companies, or strangers may have about someone. There are countless ways in
which technology compromises privacy. Sometimes people can control private information, but
oftentimes individuals have no control over it. Additionally, data mining has made it possible for
companies to accurately target customers by obtaining personal user data and creating customized
advertisements. With these technological tools, people must express concern and take their privacy
more seriously.
First this chapter defines privacy as access others have about other individuals. There are harms
when people have too much information about others, but there are also harms with too much
privacy. For instance, some benefits of privacy are that people are free to express their ideas to
others or be themselves. Some disadvantages of too much privacy are that some people engage in
immoral behavior without getting caught. Like the right to life, liberty, and to own property, my
wonder if there is also a right to privacy. Warren and Brandeis claim that people have a right to be
left alone and that the press oversteps its boundaries. Additionally, Judith Jarvis Thomson strongly
believes that privacy rights are a violation of other rights. Throughout this chapter, most authors
agree that privacy is a prudent right which state that there must be some privacy right since they
would benefit an entire

Fibromyalgia
What Is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a musculoskeletal disorder with extreme sensitization of central nervous
system (connecting brain and spinal cord) which sends amplified pain signals to the body. People
with Fibromyalgia have over sensitized central nervous system affecting all the senses of the body.
Harsh light, loud sounds, eating spicy foods, inhaling heavy perfumes or vapors, or even a light
touch of hand can be extremely painful. The pain is at its highest or severe upon waking in morning
and gradually reduces as the day progresses.
People with Fibromyalgia not only feel pain for something that will not hurt others, but also feel
amplified pain. A knock on the knee, which wouldn t leave a bruise or scratch, can cause... Show

Even though FM and CFS have some similarities, the main factor in FM is pain and in CFS is
fatigue.
What Causes Fibromyalgia?:
It is difficult to pinpoint a single cause for fibromyalgia. In fact, fibromyalgia problem may be
due to multiple causes, and research is going on to find out the underlying causes of FM
syndrome. However, it is widely believed by medical community that FM syndrome may be a
genetic or hereditary related issue. Persons who are genetically vulnerable or genetically
predisposed towards FM have a greater chance of showing FM syndrome, if they are subjected to
extreme physical or emotional trauma.
Fibromyalgia is divided into Primary FM and Secondary FM. Primary FM occurs over a length
of time triggered due to stress, emotional trauma or illness. Secondary FM is called Post
Traumatic FM as it occurs after physical trauma such as road accident, bad fall or injury. A
vulnerable person may not display FM symptoms prior to a trauma, even though the muscles may
be susceptible to the condition. However, when the muscle or soft tissue is traumatized, the pain
free balance is permanently disrupted, and FM is triggered.
The potential triggers of FM may be physical, metabolic, emotional or infectious. Physical triggers
may be due to stress to the central nervous system such as an accident, surgery, a bad fall, physical
or sexual abuse or even a difficult pregnancy. Metabolic

Gender Stereotypes Of Women In Game Of Thrones
The creators of the blockbuster HBO series Game of Thrones clearly relish in challenging gender
stereotypes of women in the United States. Set in a fictional medieval time period, the world of
Game of Thrones is divided into 4 landmasses, but much of the series takes place in Westeros and
Essos. The main plot line centers on the leading characters fighting one another to gain power and
control of the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms. Arya Stark, challenges all female stereotypes
with her unique fighting skills and warrior like abilities to put up with anything that gets in her way.
Arya Stark is the diminutive and youngest daughter of Lady Catelyn and Lord Eddard Stark of
House Stark of Winterfell, the rulers of the North. Arya rejects the impression that she must grow
up to be a lady with proper etiquette and marry for influence and power. She believes she can
create a different path for her life as she is riveted by warfare and swordplay and bored with
gossip, jewelry and other lady like activities. Whereas many TV shows depict Shill 2 women as
sensitive and weak, Game of Thornes turns away from these traditional stereotypes and depicts
Arya Stark as a true warrior who uses her grit, intuitiveness and fighting abilities to outsmart almost
anyone in the series.
In the opening scene of Game of Thrones, Arya Stark and her sister Sansa Stark are knitting a
quilt in a classroom full of women. The camera pans to Arya s face which basically says it all, she

The Montgomery Bus Boycott Of 1955-56
The Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955 56 was triggered when Rosa Parks refused to give up her
bus seat to a white man in the city of Montgomery, Alabama, on December 1st, 1955. The event
saw that around 95% of Montgomery s black citizens refused to ride the bus, lasting 381 days.
This was an extremely important event as this is identified as the beginning of the American
Black Civil Rights movement. I will be discussing the causes of this event the Jim Crow laws,
Rosas refusal to move, and the support of the NAACP as well as the consequences; the suffering
of Rosa and Raymond and their supporters, Negro economic power and Martin Luther King Jr.

Another key cause of the Montgomery Bus Boycott was Rosa Park s refusal to move from her
bus seat, after being told to move for a white person. On December 1st, 1985, after coming home
from work, Rosa sat in the black section of the bus, and was ushered to leave her seat when a
white man boarded. This was a result of there being no white seats available at the time. Rosa
had already skipped the first bus that had passed her, as she saw it was full, and she had no
energy in her to stand. When she was told to move, Rosa argued that she was too tired after her
full day of work, and refused to get up. Later, Rosa stated that her real reasoning for not moving
was because she was tired of the lack of equality in Montgomery. The police were called after
Rosa repeatedly told the bus driver she would not move, and Rosa was arrested that night, and
thrown into jail. She was fined $10, as well as $4 for court fees. Ed Nixon, who was the head of the
Montgomery NAACP, bailed her out, and they then drew attention to her case. Her arrest sparked
an uproar in the black community of Montgomery, and this was incentive for the decision that they
needed a solution to end this discrimination, and got involved with the boycott they had planned.

Iambic Similes In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 130
An Elizabethan sonnet is a poem that contains 14 lines. Each line is usually 10 syllables long.
However, Shakespeare created his own type of sonnet that also has 14 lines, but also follows a
rhyme scheme of ababcdcdefefgg. Not only that, but the Shakespearean sonnets also have iambic
pentameter which give the sonnetsa rhythm or beat by emphasizing every other syllable.
Shakespearean sonnets are very similar to those of Petrarchan lovers. The main idea of these
sonnets are usually about exaggerated and romantic love. These sonnets were created by a man
named Francesco Petrarch. He was an Italian student during the Renaissance who lived in
Petrarch, Italy. Petrarch then fell in love with a woman named Laura, and shortly after he began
to write sonnets about her. Many people who also lived in the city continued what Francesco had
started. The ideal woman of the time and in Petrarchan sonnets was blonde, had a high forehead,
had bright eyes, and had pale skin. In the sonnets, they are exaggerated so much that they are
almost viewed as angels or goddesses. In William Shakespeare s Sonnet130, he compares his
mistress to the ideal woman from Petrarchan sonnets, and in a way, mocks them for their ridiculous
flattery. In Sonnet 130, William Shakespeare s use of similes, metaphors, and tone illustrate the
complex nature of love, and reject the clichГ© concepts of ideal love.
First, the narrator compares his mistress to the ideal Petrarchan woman. His tone is very harsh and

PR Paper
P.A.M. Many are unclear on the differences between public relations, advertisement, and marketing.
They are very different and each has distinct characteristics that define their roles in the workforce.
When public relations, marketing, and advertisement are used together they can be used to form a
very successful plan if used to their full advantages.
Worldwide, people aren t sure what public relationsrole is in the workplace. Public relations is a
planned communication that builds relationships between organizations (What is Public
Relations). Someone who works in the public relations field can find themselves doing a number
of tasks daily. Planning, implementing, researching, and evaluating are just some of the key tasks
when working in the field (What is Public Relations). The main goal of public relations is building
a reputation for a company since in today s competitive market reputation can make or break a
company. The main goal of public relations is to manage and spread information to create a
favorable image for the organization through various media outlets. (Public Relations).
When someone mentions the word advertisement the most common things to come to mind are,
newspaper, billboards, and commercials. Advertisement can be a paid announcement, a public
notice, or the act of making something known (Advertisement). Advertising is the action of calling

Organization And Structure Is Essential For All Group...
Organization and structure is essential in all group settings. How rigid and how formal that
structure is, can be reliant upon the type of organization. A large government agency or a
corporation will evidently have several layers of management and will have an authoritative
expression and direction for and of its members. Even minor groups, a family unit for instance,
have a need to have a precise statement of individual responsibilityand overall goals, while also
maintaining an authoritative structure of headship. The triumph of each organization, in spite of
the size, is utterly reliant on the efficiency of the leadership, the eagerness and ability for each

Wage hours are also unswervingly effected by productivity. If each member of the organization has
high productivity output then it will take fewer wage hours, to achieve the volumes necessary, than
the budget originally accounts for. However there can also be negative effects from high
productivity levels. For example, the quicker a team works the more latent the possibility for
inefficiencies and injuries to occur. This can in reality counteract any of the financial gains
achieved from the higher productivity of the team by having to insert additional wage hours in
order to repair quality control issues as well as the additional costs related to expected lost work
hours. The objective now becomes how to increase productivity and perhaps profitability, all the
while restricting the potential for those negative side effects to take place.

Athletes with abnormal AV conduction characterized by an HV interval 90 ms or a His Purkinje
block should have pacemaker implantation. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT): SVTs are not
more common in athletes than in the general population of a similar age distribution, with the
possible exception of atrial fibrillation (AF). Treatment of these SVTs with catheter ablation is
likely to achieve a permanent cure and, in general, is preferable to lifelong therapy with
pharmacological agents. Atrial Fibrillation: Athletes with AF should undergo a work up that
includes thyroid function tests, queries for drug use, ECG, and echocardiogram. Athletes with low

Power In Lord Of The Flies
In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, young boys face challenges for safety or the seekage of
power. There are no adults on the island to show them the peaceful way to handle conflicts.
Naturally boys follow the power and some are left to fend for themselves. The author employs
the perpetrators in the novel seek power by provoking cruelty to their victims. The island was
substantially peaceful when Ralph, a later victim, called everyone on the island with a blow into a
conch to bring them to the meeting grounds for introductions. Littluns and biguns filed into the
area; already seeking power, Jack organized a group of his own that he led. The group discussed
responsibilities and Jack concluded, We ll have rules! Lots of rules! Then when... Show more

After every kill, they would dance and chant in excitement, reenacting how the pig was killed.
This dance became a regular occurrence and brought out the tribes savagery, especially the night
of a horrible storm. Just before the storm, Jack killed a pig and fed his people, scaring the tribe
by pressuring them to eat fast, since they knew Jack had the power and could end their meal at
any time to start their ritual. Cruelty arose during the rituals; littluns being thrown into the
middle allowed the hunters to deal painful blows to ease all uneasy thoughts. With their minds
hindered by excitement, they thought the beast had come out of the woods and they pounced,
not knowing it was Simon. The author described this moment as, There were no words, and no
movements but the tearing of teeth and claws. (153). Ralph and Piggy realize their fate and felt
secluded after Simon s death. They were scared for their lives, knowing Jack will kill to
maintain power. Making Ralph powerless, Jack builds a fort to keep Ralph s ideas excluded. He
lines the edge with armed watchers to warn if Ralph or Piggy were near. Within the fort, anyone
who does not follow Jack s rules will be tied up or tortured, while Jack sits, watching. Everything
in the fort was complete, other than a fire. Jack decides to attack Piggy in the middle of the night
for his spectacles. With a struggle, he managed to get the glasses, leaving Piggy with horrid vision.

Separation Of Public Spaces In To Kill A Mockingbird By...
The South was a volatile place when concerning the separation of the white and black
communities. Laws were put into place to solidify the separation of the races while providing
equal opportunity to all. However, these laws, known as the Jim Crow laws, were ratified to give
the illusion of equality while allowing for separation to continue. Though the image these laws
held gave the impression of equality, while the people did not hold equal status. To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee explores the racial tensions of separate but equalthroughout the novel
and how these ideas affected the daily lives of those who lived during this time. Separation of
public spaces and the relationships between the people themselves are small examples of the
realities of the laws effects on real people in the South. The Jim Crow laws perpetuated the racial
tension of the South rather than alleviating the problems by sacrificing equality for the social norm
of separation.
The physical separation of the white and black races was of great concern in the South and how
each of the races would interact with one another. This separation included preferential treatment of
white individuals over their black counterparts. While the people filed into the courthouse waiting
for the trial in To Kill a Mockingbird, the Negros, having waited for the white people to go upstairs,
began to come in (Lee 186). The physical separation continued as the Colored balcony ran along
three walls of the courtroom

To what extend does Asian grocery stores operate in an oligopolistic market in the region of
Chinatown of Victoria?
Abstract:
The Chinatown in Victoria is the oldest one in Canada and second in age to San Francisco s in
North America. As one of the national historical sites of Canada, Victoria s Chinatown remains an
active region for Victoria residents, tourists and Chinese Canadians. The modern Chinatown
continues to be a key component of downtown Victoria with a variety of tourist attractions
including bars, restaurants, food stores medicine shop and shopping areas nearby. The city of
Victoria embraces a multicultural society like the most of Canadian cities do. As the biggest
minority ethnic group, Asian population accounted for 23.5% of Victoria s total population and the
number has rapidly increased in recent years because of the trend of increasing immigration in the
province of British Columbia. Food has been an important part of Asian residents lives and I
became interested in investigating the grocery store market in Chinatown because of my enthuasim

Based on my observations of the grocery stores and knowledge of the market structure, the question

Deforestation In China Essay
Deforestation affects the Wild Birds China, as a developing country, is now suffering from serious
deforestation. While researching, it shows that North China, is one of the places that have been
destroyed a lot in the recent decade. From my perspective, it is critical to raise the awareness of the
general public in China as our environment is rather more fragile than before. Deforestation in
North Chinahas been a serious threat to native wild birds. China is a country with low forest
coverage and a fragile ecology. The forest coverage rate is far below the global average of which is
31%, the per capita of forest area is only at 1/4 of the world s average, per capita of forest stock
only at 1/7 of the world s average пј€
Forest resources 2016пј‰. Due to serious deforestation in
China, the destruction caused a reduction in biodiversity. There are approximately 1200 species of
birds identified in China, and a large number of them live in the forest. There are 70% of birds
living in the forest all year round, or in a certain season of the year. Forest destruction that cause
by human activities and influence the lives of wild birds to a great extent. The range of birds
activities dropped sharply than before; frequent human activities led to the imbalance of the
biological clock of birds and increased the nestlings mortality. Similarly, the indeterminacy of the
birds breeding season will cause the reduction of the reproductive fecundity and affect the

network is a subset of ad hoc networks where each mobile node is an intelligent vehicle equipped
with communication resources (sensor). The optimal goal is that these networks will contribute
to safer roads and more effective in the future by providing timely information to drivers. They
are therefore vulnerable to many types of attacks. Many proposals have been proposed to secure
communication in VANETs. In this paper; we propose an approach to adopt a new method of
distributing certificates in VANET. In Our proposal the cluster head acts as a virtual CA and
issues certificates to cluster members. The main objective of our approach is to avoid making a
new certificate request in case a node passes from a cluster to another. This approach has been

Essay On Macromolecules
Introduction
The main objective of the laboratory experiment was to test for the presence of protein, starch,
glycogen, and reducing sugars in 12 different samples using various assessments in order to
ultimately identify the unknown sample #26 as one of the four macromolecule groups.
Macromolecules consist of polymers formed by the linkage of small subunits called monomers
(Alberts et al., 2014). The four major groups are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids
(Alberts et al., 2014). The 12 samples that were tested on in this laboratory experiment included
protein, beer, distilled water, honey, 0.3% glucose1 phosphate, and 1% glucose, maltose, sucrose,
lactose, glycogen, and starch solutions, as well as the unknown sample #26. In order to identify
whether or not a macromolecule is present in a sample solution, each test has positive and negative
controls. In this case, a positive control reveals that the specific macromolecule being tested for is
present, whereas a negative control indicates that a reaction did not occur and the macromolecule
being tested for is not present (Johnson Besselsen, 2002).
The first test that was conducted was the biuret test to identify the presence of proteins, which are
polymers of amino acid subunits held together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When mixed with a sample containing an aldose reducing sugar, the free aldehyde groups on the
end of the straight chain sugar molecule reduces the Cu2+ ions in the Benedict s solution, which
then oxidizes to form a coloured Cu2O precipitate (Hill, 1982). The positive control ranges from
yellow, green, red, or brown precipitate, or a combination of these colours (Hill, 1982). However,
if reducing sugars were not present in the sample, the final colour of the solution would be blue
because of Benedict s solution s composition of blue Cu2+ ions, which would stay intact in the
absence of a reducing sugar (Hill,

The Pros And Cons Of Pornography
What is pornography?
Pornography can be any form of media digital or print that stimulates sexual arousal in a person.
This media often features, but is not limited to nude men and or women performing sexual acts.
There have been mixed feelings about the concept of pornography all throughout history.
Some relationships are brought together by the use of pornography, maybe by helping to create a
spark or rekindle the sexual factor that is no longer present. Other relationships have been
completely ruined by excessive pornographic use or when one partner doesn t agree with their
partner watching porn and or masturbating.
Today millions of people own pornographic material or observe pornographic content in one form
or another from the comfort of their cellular phones or computers. Even televisions now have
direct access to web browsers making it even easier for someone to instantly access a thrill of
pornographic sexuality. Printed pornography has also been a very popular form of adult
entertainment.
For hundreds of years, sex has been transcribed and depicted in print. Though some content is
created to educate, other content is solely for sexual enticement. The most popular publisher of
adult content is Playboy, who has been selling millions of copies of their magazines for decades
and is so well know that people from every generation are well aware of the brand even if they
don t follow the material. All forms of media today, from music to movies contains suggestive
themes that can entice someone to either masturbate or watch porn. Sexual pleasure is a part of our
nature and has been from the beginning of time.
There have been paintings and carvings found all around the world depicting sexual acts dating
back thousands of years. This concept is nothing new; though certain cultures see pornography as
a taboo, other cultures see it as a socially acceptable. Regardless of who thinks what, today the
porn industry has billions of viewers and supporters and is worth several billion dollars.

Non Pharmacological Methods Are Effective For Reducing...
Introduction
Painful procedures are common for premature infants and research has found that non
pharmacological methods are effective in reducing pain signs. Pain is subjective and difficult to
measure unless vocalized, as infants are unable to verbalize their pain, their management in regards
to pain relief is suboptimal (who.int). It has been documented in many studies that premature
babies of a gestation of less than 32 weeks are subjected to approximately between 10 and 15
painful procedures in their first few weeks of life and more than 80% of those procedures are
performed without pain relief (Stevens et al, 2003).
When premature infants are exposed to long term pain they enter into a state of passivity, with
decreased movement, no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early studies of neurological development showed that preterm infant perception of localized pain
was non existent. It was also thought that neonates were incapable of remembering painful
experiences and therefore, they were not considered of understanding pain in the same way as
adults (Urso, 2007). This understanding came from four misconceptions about the neonatal
physiology. The first being that the neonatal CNS was immature, the second was that nerve fibers
required myelination process in pain perception, the third was that infants did not have pain
receptors and the fourth was that premature babies were unable to remember painful experiences
(Urso, 2007).
It is known that premature infants with immature development experience pain especially those
needing surgical treatment or those who spend time in neonatal intensive. Knowing how to
manage neonatal care is a challenge for healthcare professionals as it is difficult to measure and
due to the fact that neonatal systems are more immature than those of older patients. It is also
known that experience of pain in early life can have an effect on pain perception later on in life.
Analgesia used can combat pain experienced by neonates. The most commonly pharmacological
pain relief used for neonates are paracetamol, opioids, most commonly morphine and fentanyl and
local analgesia. It is noted that as well as pharmacological

Changes on the Home Front in the United States and England...
The Home Front during World War II was the essential backbone of the military campaign that
was being waged in Europe and the Pacific. In order to ensure the success of the war the Home
Front needed to not only ensure its own survival but also the survival of the forces that were
engaged in combat. The Home Front of both the United Statesand England were similar in their
practices of supporting the war, but because of the advantages of the united states being isolated
from the fighting and being a land of plentiful recourses, and England being apart of an island
nation extremely close to the fighting, England had much more difficult position and their Home
Front was under a much more immediate threat. Both Home Fronts experienced hardships and
dramatic changes in their society as they were forced to adapt to a wartime economy, they were
also forced to adapt to social changes and a whole new society and way of life for the duration of
the war that would also change the future of both the United States and England. England being
separated by only the English Channel had much more to deal with than just a harsh restricted
economy they also had to deal with the immediate threat of could come from the European

The Negative Effects of Nuclear Energy

how safe was, and is, nuclear energy? Although
there are less than 500 licensed nuclear power

the ideal source of energy for the future: however,
there are many negative effects of nuclear energy

converts a secondary water supply into steam to
power the turbine. The two water supplies do not
mix (Galperin 45).
A gas cooled reactor is similar to a
pressurized water reactor. The only main
difference is that helium or carbon dioxide gas
replaces the water in the primary loop. These
reactors cost more to operate and to build, but are
more energy efficient (Galperin 46).
The last main type of reactor is a breeder reactor.
This is very different then other reactors because it
produces more fissionable material then it
consumes. A breeder reactor fuels with a
combination of plutonium and uranium. A breeder
reactor would be extremely useful if uranium was
scarce. It takes about 10 to 60 years to use up the
fuel from just one cycle (Galperin 46).
Radiation is very strong in the nuclear waste of
power plants. Nuclear waste exists in several
forms. One form is called high level waste, and the
other is called low level waste. High level waste is
mostly from the used fuel rods and other materials
exposed to as much radiation as they are.
High level wastes can let out very large amounts
of radiation for thousands of years. There is no
place to store this waste that is safe, and it will
always be radioactive. But for now, they are

The consumer of the tanning industry is just the average person next door and we all have a

ultraviolent radiation was passed. This tax is supposed to help those that need help with skin

The Positive Effects Of Dance-Movement Therapy And Depression
Dance movement therapy can be beneficial to those who participate in it as there are many
different physical, emotional, mental advantages. In an experiment conducted by Mehibe
Akandere and Banu Demir, it was found that dance movement therapy, which is many times
referred to as simply dance, has a positive impact on the mental maturation of youth enduring
depression at a low degree. This is important because many teens in today s world suffer or have
suffered from some type of depression. The authors of this article published this article in 2011,
and claim that dance dispassionately helps the advancements which support medical objectives,
influences delight to appear without anyone else s input, and increase the correspondence, giving
an escape approach to nervousness and anger. Dance movement therapy is comprised of music
and physical activities; therefore, it appeals to those who have interest in music as well. Dance is
considered a drugless treatment to depression that is not at a high level, the authors say. Clearly,
there is more to dance than just what meets the eye. Furthermore, the authors even recommend
dance to young people that struggle with depression, if it is not very severe. Dance can have a
major positive effect on depression as well.
Dance is not limited to resolving depression, however. According to Anna E. Olvera, dance can be
an outlet for emotional articulation, stress decrease, and creativity. Olvera conducted a literature
review to provide evidence for why dance is a good form of exercise, and claims that dancing is a
much better and more beneficial form of physical activity for numerous adolescent girls, as
opposed to sports. Cultural dance is a non customary physical activity that also has a positive
effect on group well being, identified with both physical and mental health. Furthermore,
according to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, aerobic activity is physical activity

It would seem that these states would have the least gender inequality, but this is not the case.
The bar graph shows the percent of gender wage gap in OECD countries. As of 2010, the average
gender gap is at 15 percent. Since 2000, the gap has narrowed. In many countries, the gap has
shrunken considerable yet in some countries, the gap only increased. Much research shows that
eastern Asian countries have and Middle Eastern countries have the largest gender wage gap.
Countries such as democratic South Korea and many Middle Eastern countries are relatively
economically stable, similar to that of the United States and some European countries, yet these
countries gender wage gap percent are not up to par in comparison the U.S. or E.U percent.
The United States began its focus on wage inequality in 1963, when the United States Congress
introduced the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. In hopes to strengthen the new legislation, the United
States Congress also passed the Fairness Paycheck Act, which had help better prevent employers
from committing wage discrimination. Before both Acts, women on average earned 59 cents for
every dollar a man made. After these laws were legislated, women s relative earnings steadily
increased during the 70s and 80s. Besides governmental laws and regulations help in narrowing
gender wage inequality,

Wayne State Essay
Introduction Arriving to campus on time has usually been an issue for commuting Canadian
students. This is not only a problem for them, but Wayne State is also affected in the process. With
students arriving late, there would be missed lectures and barely any work done. In turn, Wayne
State s reputation as a school is affected negatively as these commuters would start considering
switching to other schools. In fact, some high school graduates from Canada would not even think
about attending classes at Wayne State due to its lack of an uncomplicated transportation system.
The main purpose of this report is to help Wayne State figure out a way to implement an alternative
means of transportation to the current one these students are using, which is using two buses.
Currently, using the tunnel and city buses causes unnecessary delays for the students and makes
them arrive to class either really late or the minute it starts. By making transportation easier for
them, it would. However, Wayne State must decide on the method of transportation they could use
in order to help their Canadian students. The proposed solutions in this document was developed
from information obtained via research, such as, but not limited to, student surveying. Research

For instance, creating a travel agency might seem like a good idea; however, it is highly
unlikely that Wayne State would be able to implement this system because buses are usually run
by the city. That leaves the other two ideas. Creating an app like Uber might be possible because
unlike buses, cars are not run by the city. As for creating an online carpooling system, it is also
very likely that Wayne State could do this because other good schools have done it, such as
Oklahoma State University and the University of

Disadvantages Of Self Driving Cars
They can get you from point A to point B without the hassle of having to drive, your own personal
chauffeur that will free up the time you would have been using to drive. These self driving cars
sound wonderful and convenient, but they may not be as great as you might think. Although there
are benefits to self drivingcars, they are dangerous and shouldn t be introduced to the public
because the technology is unpredictable and they can t make decisions the way humans can.
For years, self driving cars have been a science fiction idea, featured in quite a few movies that
take place in the future. With the technology we have today, self driving cars are anything but
fiction. From cars that can park themselves to cars with advanced autopilot, we are only a few
steps away from fully automated cars. Car brands with self driving technology today include Tesla,
Toyota, and Volvo, just to name a few. Despite the fact that many advancements are being made to
the technology of these cars in hopes of having them be completely autonomous as soon as
possible, there are still many problems that need to be sorted out.
To begin, the technology we work with isn t always predictable. Malfunctions may not happen
regularly but they do happen. An unpredictable malfunction could be extremely fatal and may turn
off necessary features to the car. In his article, The Truth About Self Driving Cars, PATH program
manager, Steven E. Shladover, relates the software of a computer to that of which will

Essay on Narrative Report on Vertigo
Assignment 1: Narrative report on Vertigo
Establishing the difference between the story and the plot allows one to determine the effect each
element has on the understanding and interpretation of the piece. It also provides a way of tracking
the continuation of events and the relationship between seemingly isolated moments in time. Film
Art clearly defines both story and plot but acknowledges that there is a significant overlap between
the two functions and allows a flow within the film. The plot is the presentation of the events, in
chronological order and includes the events that are seen, inferred and assumed by the viewer as
opposed to the story. The story refers to the way in which the plot is presented, the personality

The opening scene introduces us to the person we later learn is John Scottie Ferguson, something
that does not play out until much later in the film relates to the demonstration of the debilitating
extent of Johns inability to act in the face of heights, once with the police officer and then with his
love whom he cant stop because of his fear. The opening scene builds on the credits by creating the
expectation of suspense and thrill and mystery shrouding the true identity and relation of characters
and setting up the disposableness of characters in the film, this adds to the complexity of Madeline
s disease as the audience cant tell whether, or more when, she will die.
The rooftop chase creates an expectation of dark drama, which moves into the scene with Midge in
a light filled room where Scottie appears to be in control of his fear and the relationship between
the two characters is established, whilst not technically part of the opening scene it instantly makes
the viewer question whether their interpretation of the initial segment of the film was correct,
already one is questioning their ability to pick the direction of the film.
In a sense, the closing scene is the exact opposite of the opening scene, scotty and Judy/Madeline
are scaling the very stairs that rendered him

Analysis Of J. Donald O Meara
J. Donald O Meara (1989) defines cross sex friendship as a personal relationship between an
unrelated man and woman who share no romantic feelings towards each other. He broadens his
definition by allowing that a lack of romance does not necessarily entail a lack of sexuality or
passion. This understanding allows for the possibility of sexual attraction, but not romantic
attraction. Other definitions prohibit all forms of sexuality, passion, and romance, while still others
allow them. In cross sex friendships where sexual and/or romantic attraction exists, what role do
they play in the relationship? Do they end friendships immediately upon dissolution of the
attraction? Or do they enhance the quality and longevity, bringing the dyad closer together? This
paper aims to answer those questions, assuming sexual and romantic attractions are both permitted
in classifying cross sex friendships. The frequency of sexual attraction in heterosexual cross sex
friendships differs between males and females, as does that of romantic attraction. Sexual
boundaries are not clearly defined in these relationships, adding to the complications and
ambiguity for both members of the dyad (Bleske Buss, 2000). Moreover, there are several different
types of love, and many levels of attraction. Rawlins (1982) describes platonic love (emotional
relationship without a sexual component), friendshiplove (emotional and sexual expressions of
affection; potentially unstable), physical love (sexual

What Are The Forces Within America That Have Shaped Our...
HCAD 730: W 3 Forum Five Questions Suggested Responses. 1. What are the forces within
America that have shaped our health care system? Many forces shape our current healthcare
system. Our cultural belief and values shape our views on our social, political, and economic
exigencies. While our beliefs and values usually represent basic or core impressions of individuals
in our society, they are constantly changing. Thus, they lend a sense of dynamism to our health
care system. Our cultural beliefs and values also impact our sense of ethics, which also influences
how we allocate our health resources and our sense of social justice, or lack of it. And although
ACA represents a major reform the American health care system, history will tell us whether it
survives after the next election cycles. Many of the forces in American health care that affected its
evolution in the past are present today. Advances in medical science and technology still have force
and effect on how our health care system has and will evolve over time. We have a technologically
driven health care system. Our educational system shapes our health care system through its
training methods and emphasis on the medical model. Depending on the discipline, training may
key on treating rather than preventing disease. This generates demand for service delivery. Training
of new physicians takes time and money. Because the costs for a medical education are significant,
many students seek postgraduate training in a

Alfred Hitchcock Vertigo Themes
Alfred Hitchcock might be history s most respected director among both the critics and the public. I
think He made Vertigo to celebrate the entertainment we love about the movies, yet ones that, upon
closer inspection, reveal a deeper understanding of how techniques work wonders on the
subconscious. Vertigo might be one of his greatest movies of all time and should credit more often
about this masterpiece. When I watched Vertigo, I believe it has three themes throughout the whole
entire film. The themes I recognized throughout the movie are love, guilt, and illusion. There can
be a lot of debate on whether I am right or wrong about the themes but let me explain more in my
essay. Alfred Hitchcockshows love throughout the film but isn t pretty.... Show more content on

Madeleine, the object of his obsession, is a fantasy, or the ghost of Elster s wife. When
Madeleine is really Judy, she falls in love with Scottie but she loves a man who thinks he s in
love with someone else. She has to become that someone else to get his love but how is that for a
healthy relationship? Scottie can t ever love Judy for who she is; he has to turn her into
Madeleine to feel anything at all but I don t think we can ever call that love. Also, Hitchcock
manifests love in the acting by showing it in the beginning, middle, and end of the movie. He
shows much Madeline cares about Scottie and vice versa. The next theme I discovered in
Vertigo was guilt. When Scottie sees his fellow policeman fall to his death, he s disabled not
only from acrophobia, but also by a crushing sense of guilt. Even if he doesn t say so explicitly,
we sense that Hitchcock is zooming the camera on Scottie because he believes that he caused the
officer s death and the officer was trying to save Scottie s life. Also, I think getting involved with
saving Madeleine may have been a way to get rid of some of that guilt. When he thinks his fear of
heights also killed Madeleine, he loses his

Self Regulation over Government Regulation on The...
How involved should the Government be when it comes to regulation of the Internet? There are
many different issues regarding internet regulation. Should Internet users be responsible for
controlling how they use the Internet? Since the internet has been introduced to Americans there
have been many debates on how involved the Government shouldbe in regulating topics such as
violent games, gambling, and sexual content.
The Internet is a very useful source for many things. It has almost become a way of life for some
people It has faded out things such as post offices, shopping malls and even telephones to some
extent. So since it has become such an asset in peoples lives then should there be laws to prevent
chaos on the Internet?

So what should the Government do? The Government has power to control who can gamble and
who can purchace certain items at a casino or store but how can the government possibly stop a
teenager from doing this online? It needs to be up to the parent to control how their child uses the
Internet.
Another issue is video games on the internet. There are a lot of violent video games now days,
most of which you have to be eighteen to purchase. There are also a lot of violent video games on
the Internet that you have to be eighteen to play but all you have to do is check the little box that
says yes I am eighteen or over, and who would know any different but that person?
A lot of people are very adament about self regulation. Any other kind of government regulation
on the internet would be a very long process. It s not just the U.S. that has access to this tool. It
is the World Wide Web, meanig it s world wide. There would need to be some sort of committee
formed and it would have to consist of officials from different countries in order to have any law or
regulation because the Internet does not belong to the U.S., it belongs to the world.
Self regulation is, I believe, the best kind of regulation for the Internet. If a parent does not want
their child playing violent video games or downloading pornographic images then

Billy Walters Gambling
It s amazing just how much money impact casino lobbyists have had with gambling laws over
time. The success that Walters and other professional gamblers have had via their beards resulted
in the creation of messenger betting laws. Those laws ban a person from placing bets for
someone else. In fact, runners face felony charges and potential federal forfeiture laws. For
instance, one of Walters runners, Robert Walker, was charged in 2011 with breaking those laws
with a potential 20 year prison sentence and a $1 million fine.

After four replicants escape slavery on an off world colony and kill Deckard s replacement
when he investigates their attempted break in of Tyrell Corporation headquarters, the chief of
police forces Deckard out of retirement to solve the problem . To understand why these
replicants wanted to break into Tyrell Corporation it is necessary to explain the structure and
creation of replicants. Replicants are similar in appearance to humans in every conceivable way.
However, they are stronger both mentally and physically, also having superior reaction skills
and the inability to feel pain. The structure of the replicant brain is very similar to the human
brain. Replicants have above average intelligence and feel emotions in the same way that people
do. They are all capable of love, hatred, anger, jealousy and remorse (all exhibited throughout the
movie). To safeguard against the possibility of replicants replacing humans as the dominant
species, Doctor Eldon Tyrell, head of Tyrell Corporation, programmed a precautionary 4 year

Bossypants Analysis
In Tina Fey s memoir of her life, Bossypants, she provides many examples of challenging the ideas
of femininity in today s modern society. This is important because it shows younger women that
despite the inequalities for women in the workplace, the inequalities can be overcome, and women
can go on to live successful lives with the careers that they want. In Bossypants, Fey tells different
anecdotes about the struggles that she ran into during her position as a female writer in Saturday
Night Liveand how these struggles ultimately made her a better writer and person after she had
overcome them. In today s society, one of the biggest examples of inequality in the workplace is
that in the majority of the fields, females get paid significantly less than their male co workers
who do the same job. The book Bossypants is the perfect example of how to educate the
audience about important issues such as inequalities in the workplace while also keeping the
audience entertained with one liners and different forms of comedy throughout the whole story.
It is important that Fey talks about these examples because she shows that even though she may
have struggled and that her male co workers were not always supportive of her, she did her best
anyways and she worked to become the boss so that she could be in charge of her own work. In
Bossypants, Tina Fey talks about the struggles of being a female writer in her field, and how to
focus her energy on her work to become the boss. She elaborates on the inequalities of women in
the world of employment and how these inequalities can affect women s careers. One of the most
impactful anecdotes that Tina Fey writes about in Bossypants is the encounter she witnesses
between Amy Poehlerand Jimmy Fallonwhile she was still a writer for Saturday Night Live. Tina
Fey talks about how men and women find different things funny, There s a tremendous amount of
overlap in what men and women think is funny (136). She also goes into detail about an exchange
between Amy Poehler and Jimmy Fallon that showed her that she was the only one that had to
like what she was doing, She was there to do what she wanted to do and she did not fucking care
if you liked it (144). This is an important

Dubliners By James Joyce
Dubliners, is a book in which James Joyce takes his readers back to early 20th century Dublin.
Joyce s collection of short stories portrays his homeland, Ireland, at a time of stagnation and the
beginning of the Irish Nationalist Movements, which sought independence from Great Britain.
With such dependence, Ireland and its citizens lives could not move forward and to enliven this
condition in his book Joyce use three great concepts. In the first short story Joyce mentions the
words gnomon, simony, and paralysis, and by doing so he foreshadows the themes of every
story and how they are a close description of Dublin at that time. Joyce use the concept of
gnomon to typify incompleteness, disconnection, and being in the shadow of someone or
something, which is a important theme in his book about the empty and incomplete lives of the
Irish. Before meeting the odd old man, the boys decided to skip school and go looking for
adventures like in the Wild West, and the narrator tells: But when the restraining influence of the
school was at a distance I began to hunger again for wild sensations, for the escape which those
chronicles of disorder alone seemed to offer me. The mimic warfare of the evening became at last
as wearisome to me as the routine of school in the morning because I wanted real adventures to
happen to myself. But real adventures, I reflected, do not happen to people who remain at home:
they must be sought abroad. ( An Encounter 13) Their

This test shows the function of tissues and organs such as sugar metabolism, oxygen use and blood flow instead of mere structural images of, for instance blood flow to and from organs illustrated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). This feature makes it a useful diagnostic tool to help physicians detect and evaluate severity of various diseases or medical conditions including cancers (staging). • 3. Child Protective Services And Foster Care A child living in the 21st century is no stranger to poverty and the desperate lifestyles it promotes. Too often the case, children, living in families with incomes below the nation s poverty line, are limited to criminal activities, low level education, and blue collar employment. Furthermore, years of economic strife in the United States have invited a cycle of povertyto predetermine the lives of children in poverty stricken families, where they are raised with insufficient care and inadequate resources in unstable environments. Not that it is in any way the fault of the parents, whose financial situation isn t always an accurate reflection of their parental capability, the government s assumes the responsibility of removing children... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In accordance to Dorothy Roberts, professor of Law and Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, Foster Care addresses family economic deprivation with child removal rather than services and financial resources. Moreover, the activities of the Foster Care system, despite it being a vital component of the nation s child welfare systems, offers a temporary solution to treat the cycle of poverty, removing children, like one would in the case of an earthquake, away from the vicinity, except in this case it s their homes and families. This is done when the providing of services and financial resources would do more than suffice, and as a result one third of children in foster care are black, despite black children making up only 15 percent of the nation s children. (Roberts) In addition to this, the racial imbalance present in the child welfare system feeds off the notion that children with African American parents are more at risk than children with white parents. A study done by PBS showed that in Chicago 95 percent of children in foster care are black., and in 1997, New York City s foster care system had only 1,300 white children, with black children 10 times as likely as white children to be in state protective custody. (Roberts) black children in the child welfare system are placed in foster care at twice the rate for white children., and a national study of child protective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Pepsi Of Coca Cola History Coca Cola was founded in 1886 by Dr. John S. Pemberton. After creating flavored syrup, he took it to his neighborhood pharmacy where it got mixed with carbonated water. Frank M. Robinson, Dr. Pemberton s partner and bookkeeper, is credited with naming the beverage Coca Cola. After a couple years, Dr. Pemberton began selling portions of his business. The majority was sold to Asa G. Candler who decided to expand the product to soda fountains outside of Atlanta, Georgia. From here, he noticed there was a growing demand for Coca Cola which brought about the aspiration to make Coca Cola portable. Joseph Biedenharn became the first person to put Coke in a bottle and sell it. Within five years, the bottles were in large scale production.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. The Dispute Over The Diaoyu Islands Origins of the Conflict the US s Policy Mistakes that BiteThe dispute over the Diaoyu Islands is an instance of imprudent United States (US) policies coming back to bite several decades later. The Diaoyu Islands are no more than five uninhabited islands that lie close to China and Taiwan s coast. Today, these tiny islands are the source of intense conflict between China and Japan. The US made two bad policy decisions that led to the stalemate today. First was the poor post war treatment of Japanese territory in 1951, and second was to allow the problem to go unresolved when the issue re emerged in 1972. After Japan s defeat in World War II, the US was given jurisdiction over Japan s territory until settlements were made. In 1951, the US and Japan signed the San Francisco Peace Treaty that returned to Japan all the islands south of the 29В°N line. The Diaoyu Islands, which were south of that line, were partitioned to Japan. Neither China nor Taiwan was party to the negotiations that led to the treaty. The Diaoyu Islands conflict resurfaced in the 1970s as China and Japan talked about normalizing relations. 1972 marked the first time that mass protests over the Diaoyu Islands occurred in Taiwan, China, and among certain groups in Japan, but those protests were ignored. The short term political concerns at the time were to normalize relations between China and Japan, and the details did not matter as much as building an alliance between the two countries to ... • 6. Diageo Executive Summary Diageo s stock price increased $1.74 from $21.10 as of December 31, 2017 to $22.84 as of March 31, 2017. The increase can be primarily attributed to the company s reported growth in profit for the first half of its 2017 fiscal year. Better than expected revenue growth, fueled by favorable exchange rates, drove the increase in profitability. Surprisingly, the company reported that revenues increased in each of its geographic markets. Such growth may mark the reversal of a period of relatively flat growth for the company. Investors responded positively to the news, thus fueling the quarterly increase in price. Nuernberger s stock price increased 10.39 from 56.61 as of December 31, 2016 to 67.00 as of March 31, 2017. The 18% increase in stock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 5% increase can be primarily attributed to two factors: the company s strong financial performance for Q4 2016 and speculation regarding the company s next moves as it remains on the sidelines of the mergers and acquisitions wave that has been dominating industry news cycles. On February 24, 2017, BASF reported its Q4 2016 and full year results. One highlight from the announcement included a reported 7% increase in sales for the fourth quarter of 2016 as compared to the fourth quarter of 2015. Additionally, the company reported an increase of 15% in EBIT as compared to the fourth quarter 2015. As for the full year, the company reported that sales had decreased by 18%. However, it is important to note that the company divested its gas trading and storage business as part of an asset swap with Gazprom at the end of September 2015. The aforementioned business unit had contributed 10.1 billion in sales in 2015. As such, the portfolio effects noted above accounted for 15% of the decline in overall sales. Sales prices decreased, but the company was able to consistently raise sales volumes over the course of the year. Dr. Kurt Bock, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, stated that the rise in sales volumes quarter to quarter shows that the high investments we made in research and development and new production capacity in recent years are paying off. Given the substantial increase in profitability and sales volume, the Chairman expressed that the company was cautiously optimistic for 2017. Investors seemed to respond positively to the company s performance. On Friday, February 24, 2017, the company s closing stock price was 87.36. By March 3, 2017, one week later, the closing stock price had risen to 90.27. In regards to the aforementioned second factor contributing to the company s increase in stock price, speculation regarding the company s next move ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Search For Inhabitable Exoplanets The Search for Inhabitable exoplanets Student name Institution name Course name Course Code Date The Search for Inhabitable exoplanets Throughout the history of humanity, numerous scientists have been intrigued by the search for inhabitable exoplanets. To date, such ventures are still in the developmental stages and the discovery of life beyond earth and the solar system , regardless of how primitive it may be, may soon be regarded as a fundamental breakthrough in astronomy (Jones Mukai, 2007). The closest known exoplanet orbiting star is called Epislon Eridani, which is 63 trillion miles away it is close to 14,000 times away from Neptune, the farthest planets in our solar system (Horner Jones, 2010). Due to the great distance, exoplanets cannot be viewed directly since the amount of light they reflect is too faint to be detected from a far off distance (Horner Jones, 2010). Alternatively, scientists infer the presence of an exoplanet from the changes in wavelength of light illuminating from the star, this may be caused by the gravitational pull from an orbiting planet or the regulation of brightness of the star due to transiting planets. When Fermi Paradox was proposed initially, most people thought planets were rare. Nevertheless, since then the astrological tools have discovered the existence of numerous exoplanets. However, with each new discovery of an earth like planet for instance Epislon Eridani, it becomes less likely that there could exist a planet apart from the Earth that can support life. Using methods such as those stated above, scientists have been able to discover hundreds of exoplanets and the first detection was in 1995. Once they detect one, they begin evaluating it to ascertain whether it can support life. Further, they analyze the light spectrum that radiates from the star in order to reveal the properties of the planet. The hunt is still on for planets, which are about the size of earth and those that are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Online Privacy Chapter 5 deals with a disturbing topic involving online privacy. The word privacy means the access the media, companies, or strangers may have about someone. There are countless ways in which technology compromises privacy. Sometimes people can control private information, but oftentimes individuals have no control over it. Additionally, data mining has made it possible for companies to accurately target customers by obtaining personal user data and creating customized advertisements. With these technological tools, people must express concern and take their privacy more seriously. First this chapter defines privacy as access others have about other individuals. There are harms when people have too much information about others, but there are also harms with too much privacy. For instance, some benefits of privacy are that people are free to express their ideas to others or be themselves. Some disadvantages of too much privacy are that some people engage in immoral behavior without getting caught. Like the right to life, liberty, and to own property, my wonder if there is also a right to privacy. Warren and Brandeis claim that people have a right to be left alone and that the press oversteps its boundaries. Additionally, Judith Jarvis Thomson strongly believes that privacy rights are a violation of other rights. Throughout this chapter, most authors agree that privacy is a prudent right which state that there must be some privacy right since they would benefit an entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Causes Fibromyalgia?: It is difficult to pinpoint a single cause for fibromyalgia. In fact, fibromyalgia problem may be due to multiple causes, and research is going on to find out the underlying causes of FM syndrome. However, it is widely believed by medical community that FM syndrome may be a genetic or hereditary related issue. Persons who are genetically vulnerable or genetically predisposed towards FM have a greater chance of showing FM syndrome, if they are subjected to extreme physical or emotional trauma. Fibromyalgia is divided into Primary FM and Secondary FM. Primary FM occurs over a length of time triggered due to stress, emotional trauma or illness. Secondary FM is called Post Traumatic FM as it occurs after physical trauma such as road accident, bad fall or injury. A vulnerable person may not display FM symptoms prior to a trauma, even though the muscles may be susceptible to the condition. However, when the muscle or soft tissue is traumatized, the pain free balance is permanently disrupted, and FM is triggered. The potential triggers of FM may be physical, metabolic, emotional or infectious. Physical triggers may be due to stress to the central nervous system such as an accident, surgery, a bad fall, physical or sexual abuse or even a difficult pregnancy. Metabolic ... • 12. Gender Stereotypes Of Women In Game Of Thrones The creators of the blockbuster HBO series Game of Thrones clearly relish in challenging gender stereotypes of women in the United States. Set in a fictional medieval time period, the world of Game of Thrones is divided into 4 landmasses, but much of the series takes place in Westeros and Essos. The main plot line centers on the leading characters fighting one another to gain power and control of the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms. Arya Stark, challenges all female stereotypes with her unique fighting skills and warrior like abilities to put up with anything that gets in her way. Arya Stark is the diminutive and youngest daughter of Lady Catelyn and Lord Eddard Stark of House Stark of Winterfell, the rulers of the North. Arya rejects the impression that she must grow up to be a lady with proper etiquette and marry for influence and power. She believes she can create a different path for her life as she is riveted by warfare and swordplay and bored with gossip, jewelry and other lady like activities. • 13. The Montgomery Bus Boycott Of 1955-56 The Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955 56 was triggered when Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in the city of Montgomery, Alabama, on December 1st, 1955. The event saw that around 95% of Montgomery s black citizens refused to ride the bus, lasting 381 days. This was an extremely important event as this is identified as the beginning of the American Black Civil Rights movement. I will be discussing the causes of this event the Jim Crow laws, Rosas refusal to move, and the support of the NAACP as well as the consequences; the suffering of Rosa and Raymond and their supporters, Negro economic power and Martin Luther King Jr. emerging as a civil rights leader. Another key cause of the Montgomery Bus Boycott was Rosa Park s refusal to move from her bus seat, after being told to move for a white person. On December 1st, 1985, after coming home from work, Rosa sat in the black section of the bus, and was ushered to leave her seat when a white man boarded. This was a result of there being no white seats available at the time. Rosa had already skipped the first bus that had passed her, as she saw it was full, and she had no energy in her to stand. When she was told to move, Rosa argued that she was too tired after her full day of work, and refused to get up. Later, Rosa stated that her real reasoning for not moving was because she was tired of the lack of equality in Montgomery. The police were called after Rosa repeatedly told the bus driver she would not move, and Rosa was arrested that night, and thrown into jail. She was fined $10, as well as $4 for court fees. Ed Nixon, who was the head of the Montgomery NAACP, bailed her out, and they then drew attention to her case. Her arrest sparked an uproar in the black community of Montgomery, and this was incentive for the decision that they needed a solution to end this discrimination, and got involved with the boycott they had planned. • 15. Iambic Similes In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 An Elizabethan sonnet is a poem that contains 14 lines. Each line is usually 10 syllables long. However, Shakespeare created his own type of sonnet that also has 14 lines, but also follows a rhyme scheme of ababcdcdefefgg. Not only that, but the Shakespearean sonnets also have iambic pentameter which give the sonnetsa rhythm or beat by emphasizing every other syllable. Shakespearean sonnets are very similar to those of Petrarchan lovers. The main idea of these sonnets are usually about exaggerated and romantic love. These sonnets were created by a man named Francesco Petrarch. He was an Italian student during the Renaissance who lived in Petrarch, Italy. Petrarch then fell in love with a woman named Laura, and shortly after he began to write sonnets about her. Many people who also lived in the city continued what Francesco had started. The ideal woman of the time and in Petrarchan sonnets was blonde, had a high forehead, had bright eyes, and had pale skin. In the sonnets, they are exaggerated so much that they are almost viewed as angels or goddesses. In William Shakespeare s Sonnet130, he compares his mistress to the ideal woman from Petrarchan sonnets, and in a way, mocks them for their ridiculous flattery. In Sonnet 130, William Shakespeare s use of similes, metaphors, and tone illustrate the complex nature of love, and reject the clichГ© concepts of ideal love. How rigid and how formal that structure is, can be reliant upon the type of organization. A large government agency or a corporation will evidently have several layers of management and will have an authoritative expression and direction for and of its members. Even minor groups, a family unit for instance, have a need to have a precise statement of individual responsibilityand overall goals, while also maintaining an authoritative structure of headship. The triumph of each organization, in spite of the size, is utterly reliant on the efficiency of the leadership, the eagerness and ability for each member to work collectively, and the capacity of the group to solve all... If each member of the organization has high productivity output then it will take fewer wage hours, to achieve the volumes necessary, than the budget originally accounts for. However there can also be negative effects from high productivity levels. For example, the quicker a team works the more latent the possibility for inefficiencies and injuries to occur. This can in reality counteract any of the financial gains achieved from the higher productivity of the team by having to insert additional wage hours in order to repair quality control issues as well as the additional costs related to expected lost work hours. The objective now becomes how to increase productivity and perhaps profitability, all the while restricting the potential for those negative side effects to take place. Athletes with abnormal AV conduction characterized by an HV interval 90 ms or a His Purkinje block should have pacemaker implantation. Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT): SVTs are not more common in athletes than in the general population of a similar age distribution, with the possible exception of atrial fibrillation (AF). Treatment of these SVTs with catheter ablation is likely to achieve a permanent cure and, in general, is preferable to lifelong therapy with pharmacological agents. Atrial Fibrillation: Athletes with AF should undergo a work up that includes thyroid function tests, queries for drug use, ECG, and echocardiogram. Athletes with low risk AF that is well tolerated and self terminating may participate in all competitive sports without therapy. In athletes with AF, when antithrombotic therapy, other than aspirin, is indicated, it is reasonable to consider the bleeding risk in the context of the specific sport before clearance. Catheter ablation for AF could obviate the need for rate control or antiarrhythmic drugs and should be considered. The physical separation of the white and black races was of great concern in the South and how each of the races would interact with one another. This separation included preferential treatment of white individuals over their black counterparts. Essay On Macromolecules Introduction The main objective of the laboratory experiment was to test for the presence of protein, starch, glycogen, and reducing sugars in 12 different samples using various assessments in order to ultimately identify the unknown sample #26 as one of the four macromolecule groups. Macromolecules consist of polymers formed by the linkage of small subunits called monomers (Alberts et al., 2014). The four major groups are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids (Alberts et al., 2014). The 12 samples that were tested on in this laboratory experiment included protein, beer, distilled water, honey, 0.3% glucose1 phosphate, and 1% glucose, maltose, sucrose, lactose, glycogen, and starch solutions, as well as the unknown sample #26. In order to identify whether or not a macromolecule is present in a sample solution, each test has positive and negative controls. In this case, a positive control reveals that the specific macromolecule being tested for is present, whereas a negative control indicates that a reaction did not occur and the macromolecule being tested for is not present (Johnson Besselsen, 2002). It has been documented in many studies that premature babies of a gestation of less than 32 weeks are subjected to approximately between 10 and 15 painful procedures in their first few weeks of life and more than 80% of those procedures are performed without pain relief (Stevens et al, 2003). Early studies of neurological development showed that preterm infant perception of localized pain was non existent. It was also thought that neonates were incapable of remembering painful experiences and therefore, they were not considered of understanding pain in the same way as adults (Urso, 2007). This understanding came from four misconceptions about the neonatal physiology. The first being that the neonatal CNS was immature, the second was that nerve fibers required myelination process in pain perception, the third was that infants did not have pain receptors and the fourth was that premature babies were unable to remember painful experiences (Urso, 2007). It is known that premature infants with immature development experience pain especially those needing surgical treatment or those who spend time in neonatal intensive. Knowing how to manage neonatal care is a challenge for healthcare professionals as it is difficult to measure and due to the fact that neonatal systems are more immature than those of older patients. It is also known that experience of pain in early life can have an effect on pain perception later on in life. Analgesia used can combat pain experienced by neonates. Due to the increase in usage of web services, it has become of prime importance to design systems for effective web service recommendation. In our project, we propose a system for effective web service recommendations incorporating users preferences regarding quality and diversities amongst web services. Users requirements are considered and mined from his usage history. Then we find functional similarities using clustering techniques followed by applying a ranking algorithm to list top k services. To discover high quality Web services, a number of QoS models for Web services and QoS driven service selection approaches have been proposed in the service computing field. In this system user explicitly specifies his/her interests and QoS requirements, and submits them to the service discovery system. Then the service discovery system matches the user s interests and QoS requirements with corresponding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although there are less than 500 licensed nuclear power plants in the world, many nuclear accidents have already been endangering civilian lives. These reactors cost more to operate and to build, but are more energy efficient (Galperin 46). The last main type of reactor is a breeder reactor. This is very different then other reactors because it produces more fissionable material then it consumes. A breeder reactor fuels with a combination of plutonium and uranium. A breeder reactor would be extremely useful if uranium was scarce. It takes about 10 to 60 years to use up the fuel from just one cycle (Galperin 46). Radiation is very strong in the nuclear waste of power plants. Nuclear waste exists in several forms. One form is called high level waste, and the other is called low level waste. High level waste is mostly from the used fuel rods and other materials exposed to as much radiation as they are. High level wastes can let out very large amounts of radiation for thousands of years. There is no place to store this waste that is safe, and it will always be radioactive. But for now, they are stored in the ground. Other proposed storing

  • 46. Analysis Of J. Donald O Meara J. Donald O Meara (1989) defines cross sex friendship as a personal relationship between an unrelated man and woman who share no romantic feelings towards each other. He broadens his definition by allowing that a lack of romance does not necessarily entail a lack of sexuality or passion. This understanding allows for the possibility of sexual attraction, but not romantic attraction. Other definitions prohibit all forms of sexuality, passion, and romance, while still others allow them. In cross sex friendships where sexual and/or romantic attraction exists, what role do they play in the relationship? Do they end friendships immediately upon dissolution of the attraction? Or do they enhance the quality and longevity, bringing the dyad closer together? This paper aims to answer those questions, assuming sexual and romantic attractions are both permitted in classifying cross sex friendships. The frequency of sexual attraction in heterosexual cross sex friendships differs between males and females, as does that of romantic attraction. Sexual boundaries are not clearly defined in these relationships, adding to the complications and ambiguity for both members of the dyad (Bleske Buss, 2000). Moreover, there are several different types of love, and many levels of attraction. Rawlins (1982) describes platonic love (emotional relationship without a sexual component), friendshiplove (emotional and sexual expressions of affection; potentially unstable), physical love (sexual ...
