The Evacuation Of Emergency Operations Centre
Extensive GIS capabilities are identified with the North Shore divided into community planning
areas, DNV Lynnmour/Inner River and Seymour, CNV Lower Lonsdale and Grand Boulevard, and
DWV Horseshoe Bay and Capilano Reserve #5, for identification of resources, number of citizens
and the transportation exit routes. The individual municipality evacuation plans are comprehensive
policy documents. Two additional strengths of the evacuation plans are the authorities, decision
making and management; and the communications section. The strength of Authority, decision
making and management The activating authorities are listed with responsibility of the NSEM
emergency operations centre (EOC) Director taking the lead role of notifying all senior municipal
officials. The emergency social services (ESS) Director will activate the reception centres and /or
group lodging facilities. The evacuation stages of alert, order and rescind are clearly define in a
chart that identifies description, communication methods, content in alerts and orders with factors
to consider. The appendix has templates of evacuation forms and checklists to facilitate easier
execution. The mutual aid agreements are defined and listed with all of the North Shore Fire
services. The sizes of the evacuations are described in a chart as small, intermediate, large and mass
with examples for each, including potential number of evacuees, EOC activation, reception centre
and group lodging, and response

Amylase Temperature
This experiment was performed to demonstrate how varying temperatures affects the activity of the
enzyme, amylase. Also, it was conducted to determine the optimal temperature for the fungal,
Aspergillus oryzae, and bacterial amylases by placing them both into different test tubes with
differing temperature conditions. At varying time intervals, both enzymes were removed from their
assigned temperatures. A drop of each enzymewill then be placed on two different spot plates with
a pipette. All the wells on the spot plates contain three drops of iodine to clearly show whether a
reaction has taken place. The pipette was used to mix the iodine with the starchenzyme to organize
the levels of starch catabolism based on temperature. At the end of... Show more content on

Amylase is the enzyme that catabolizes starch polymers into maltose which is a saccharide, or
sugar, used as a food source and to store energy. In addition, both starch and amylase are essential in
the commercial production of syrups, other food products and brewing processes (Alberte, Pitzer,
Calero, 2012). Although, it is important to know the optimal temperatures of both enzymes, it is
also important to know that this is not the only factors that affects the activity of the enzymes.
Substrate concentration, salt concentration, and pH level are affect enzymatic activity. The
presence of inhibitors, or molecules that bind to an enzyme decrease its activity, while activators
increase enzymatic activity. If the temperature of an enzyme is greater than the optimal
temperature, the active site of that enzyme denatures. In other words, it changes shape, which will
prevent substrate binding. Without the substrate binding, the enzyme will not be able to carry out
its normal functions and this can lead to a deficiency of an enzyme. In this case, if there were
insufficient amylase in human body, it can cause cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, or Crohn s

Seaworld Park, California, Florida, And Texas
SeaWorld opened in 1964 along the Mission Bay in San Diego, stretching a total of 21 acres.
When they first started, their park only had 45 employees, a few dolphins, sea lions, and two
saltwater aquariums. Today, several parks are spread out throughout the southern United States
in California, Florida, and Texas. SeaWorld provides various shows every day with special perks
for high paying guests, such as swimming with dolphins and other sea dwellers. A majority of
their shows include orcas, otherwise known as killer whales. Recently, these majestic beasts have
been living up to those names, attacking, mauling, and fatally injuring the parks own trainers.
Blackfish, a documentary released in 2013, gets up close and personal with these stories of
attack, to bring us countless reasons why orcas, and other marine life, should be left to live in
their natural habitats, instead of in the concrete cells they rot in now. Orca pods are part of a
matriarchal society, the females are more dominant and this can cause disputes between the alphas.
When orcas are confined to a small space, these fights can get out of hand, disallowing the least
dominant one to run, resulting in injury and death to the whales. Over the past 35 years there have
been four deaths and countless injuries, and each time SeaWorld has placed the blame upon the
trainers, explaining they hadn t completed basic safety procedures. Orcas should not be kept in
captivity for many reasons. Firstly, they are

A College Experience
As the forty three year old working mom sat down, she is calm, yet there is a vibe of nervousness.
The restaurant is quiet, excluding the older women in the back. When the interview starts it is very
quiet and awkward, but once she starts to give more and more information about the process of
college and the obstacles she overcame, the interview flows naturally.
There are many forms of a college experience, there is not caring, there is learning, and there is
having fun. Tracy Zalud, current third grade teacher, had a mixture of all of those during her years
of attending Illinois State University. Before Tracy chooses to go to Illinois State, her main
option is Northern Illinois University. When she gets the make it or break it letter back from
Northern, it does not bring back good news. As the question about being accepted or not comes
up, there is a slight disappointment in her eyes. She answers to a firm No. Then she continues to
say, I wanted to go to NIU more than ISU because I had a boyfriend that went there, but I didn t
get accepted there, so ISU was my only choice. After hearing this response, the next question is
if she regrets going to Illinois. She does not regret it, it ended up being the right choice, so the
following up question requires her to explain why. She replies, Um, because it was far enough
away from home and what I really needed was to become independent and I didn t know anybody
when I was there, so I was forced to um meet new people. I was a

How To Keep Animal Testing Persuasive Essay
An estimated 26 million animals are being tested on yearly. Animal testing has helped humanity in
many ways ever since it started about 2,500 years ago. Cures have been created for many viruses
and sicknesses but it has come with a cost to the animals. Animals are being put in horrendous
living conditions that often cause them anxiety and pain. People in favor of animal of animal testing
argue that we should keep testing on animals to further scientific research, while those against
animal testing believe that there are other ways to achieve the same results.
Animal testing has been around since 500 B.C, and dissecting animals began in the 2nd century.

Ninety percent of the medicines we test on animals have not helped humans, they also do not
reliably predict results for humans. According to Neurologist Aysha Akhtar 100 stroke drugs were
effective on animals but failed on humans. Experiments animals undergo are often flawed and
waste the lives of animals. Thomas Hartung states it s very hard to create an animal model that
even equates closely to what we re trying to achieve in the human. Animal testing might also
mislead researchers to the fact that animals have a different response to medicines that might be
helpful to humans, for example Aspirin is dangerous to some animals. Animal testing is also more
expensive than alternate methods we have found.
Though many people argue that animal testing should be stopped to find alternative methods,
others still believe animal testing should continue to further medical research.Countries have found
cures, vaccines, and treatments that have saved many lives thanks to animal testing, but there is
still a cost to it. The suffering, pain, and confusion animals go through for our benefit can be
stopped. Though it may be a good way to test, in many ways it still has its flaws, the community
could change these flaws by finding alternative methods to

Sofa Beds Persuasive
If space is an issue, sofa beds are a great addition to your household, offering adaptability and
flexibility. You can use them in any room and today s sofa beds are far more comfortable than
the ones you slept as a youngster. However, as with anything in life, there are a few things you
need to know before taking the plunge. Here are six vital points to consider when buying a sofa bed.
The mattress is critical
Sofa beds come in all shapes and sizes, but the most important feature is the mattress. A good
mattress can add a little extra to the retail price of the sofa bed, of course. But they will also last
for years and keep your guests comfy whether they are sitting or sleeping. If the foam mattresses
that are available these days are a

Employee Retention And Turnover Rate
Employee Retention and Turnover
Employee retention could be described as the efforts by any business or organization to develop
strategies and initiatives that support current staff into remaining with the organization. Retention
is the ability to hold onto those employees you would want to keep for longer than your
competition (Johnson, 2000). Success or otherwise of an organization in retaining its employee s is
measured in terms of Employee Retention Rate (ERR) or through assessment of the Employee
Turnover Rate (ETR).High employee retention rate means that employee turnover rate has been
low and vice versa. Companies today are interested in retaining valuable employees and good
employees are increasingly becoming more difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, Silverthorne (2004) notes that, turnover causes significant expense to an organization,
including direct costs of replacing an employee and indirect cost related to loss of experience and
lowered productivity. These costs have important implications for an organization, notes
Silverthorne, and anything that can be done to reduce turnover will lead to significant benefits to
an organization.
Recruiting is arguably one of the most critical roles of an HR manager (Pandey et al., 2012).
Organizational performance can be credited with the identification and selection of the most
talented individuals. An employee with high potential suggests that there is a future viability that is
not present in the existing workforce (Yarnall, 2011). An appropriately structured recruitment
strategy is essential for the future success of an organization and at times can determine whether
that organization will grow or recede during a particular economic period. A successful recruiting
strategy can improve recruiting effectiveness by 30% and reduce the time to fill that position by
28% (CEB, 2012). It is clear that whatever recruitment strategy is being used, the desired outcome
has not been reached. This study examines recruitments strategies and their correlation on retention
with the desire of finding the method

Health Care Reform In Canada
Health care reform has been the main factor of parting between Canada and the United States, with
the different political systems of the countries influencing how the molding of the system occurs. A
Social Democratic Third Party in Canada had created the foundation of reform, the influence that a
third party had on the government of Canadawas significant (Maioni, 1997, p.415). The working
class banded together to support the third party in Canada to push for their rights in a way that the
major two parties were unable to do and unconcerned with doing, the third party that was supported
created essentially a voice that gave the working class a prominent position in their country with
concern to reform in health benefits. Within the United States... Show more content on

Beginning in Saskatchewan with the help of the Co Operative Commonwealth Federation in
coalition with the New Democratic Party holding control in the province of Sasakachwan and
acquiring great influence through the support of labour workers in other provinces they were
able to pressure the government towards reform and grasp the attention of the working class
(Maioni, 1997, p.415). The joining of an organization like the CCF and the political party of
NDP created great influence that led to the formation of universal health care by means of a third
party. As opposed to the United States who were unable to convince the organization nor the
political party to get involved in the reforms of health services, this stood in the way of reform,
the inability to form a coalition between these two groups and inability to convince them of
reforms in healthcare led to the rejection (Maioni, 1997, p.420). It was not solely an issue of the
lack of third party representation rather that health care reform was not an idea that had an
opportunity to be tested in a state under a trial basis therefore they were unable to weigh the
benefits or consequences as had happened in Saskatchewan, in which they essentially had senn how
the system worked and drew up the conclusion that that universal health care would be a benefit to
Canada (Maioni, 1997, p.421).

The Transformation of Society in The City of the End of...
The future of society is an often unpredictable topic due to its many variables. In The Lost Island
and in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as something detrimental to the
society each story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The Lost Island , this concept is
manifested in the visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the oppression of his people
by the arrival of the colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things ,
this concept is expressed through the downfall of greater humansociety in favour of a colder, more
robotic age. These two texts exemplify the variable nature of the future by focusing on the harmful
possibilities that may befall society. Each of these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem The City of the End of Things , the narrator recalls the manner in which humanity
existed before the rise of the technological era so that the current environment has a greater
impact. The story The Lost Island represents the status of the Aboriginal people as the
confirmation of a prophecy which foretold their inevitable oppression. This detrimental state of
their society is the result of the foreseen arrival of the non Aboriginal people to Vancouver. The
prophecy that foretold this states of the people is told by the character known only as my old
tallicum [friend] (Johnson 233). Within the story, this character is telling another, unnamed
character, a specific story about the history of their people (Johnson 233). According to this story,
an old medicine man was once plagued by visions of the future. He was described as hearing
voices throughout his life, which told him about the inevitable arrival of the white man...many
hundreds of them, many thousands of them (Johnson 234). The prophecy continued, claiming that
the Indians will learn [the white man s] ways...will become as they are...it will be as if the Indians
had lost all bravery, all courage, all confidence (Johnson 234). The accuracy of this prophecy is
made clear in earlier passages of the story. The Lost Island began with the main character saying, we
Indians have lost...our lands...[our] language and the legends and the traditions... (Johnson 233).

Drowsy Driving
SLEEP DEPRIVATION DRIVING
Nothing could prepare me for the news I received six years ago about the unexpected death of
my close friend Joey. I will never forget the night he died. How I had been with him just minutes
before, and how his death was totally unnecessary and preventable. A few weeks before
Christmas in 2001, Joey, myself and a few of my other co workers were closing down the local
restaurant we worked at while attending Umass Lowell. It had been a busy night, and we didn t
end up finishing work until 1am. Having worked all day, we were all extremely tired, and could
not wait to go home. Most of us were staying in Lowell at the time, but Joey had chosen to
commute to campus and therefore had to travel out to Reading. I ... Show more content on

On a more positive note, gains are being made towards the direction of holding those presumed
guilty of drowsy driving accountable for their reckless behavior. Unfortunately, it has taken a series
of deaths in order to trigger this movement. One of the first laws developed (Maggie s Law,) was
done so by the mother of 20 year old Maggie McDonnell who was hit head on by a van driven by a
drowsy driver in 1997. Mrs. McDonnell (the mother of Maggie,) was infuriated to learn that there
was not a single law created to address the issue of vehicular homicide as a result of sleep
deprivation, and therefore set forth to create one. Her efforts were successful, and in 2003 the
nations first drowsy driving law was implemented. Maggie s Law ammends the spectrum of
vehicular homicide to include those who who operarte a vehicle while sleep deprived. Under
Maggie s Law, offenders can be prosecuted if there is proof beyond a doubt that the operator fell
asleep while driving, or was awake for more than 24 consecutive hours. Conviction under this law
can carry a maximum penalty of ten years in prison. (Weaver 1).
As a future sleep technician, and a person who has suffered personally from the aftermath of a
friend falling asleep at the wheel, the topic of drowsy driving is one concerns me. Studies show
that there has been a significant rise in sleep related crashes since the initiation of Maggie s Law
in 2003, but only one recorded

Differences Between The Medieval Catholic Church And Pietism
The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism are both rooted in the common ideology that God
desires relationship and salvation for all. However, the two differ greatly in missiology, theology
and daily practicality. There are major points of divergence between the Medieval Catholic Church
and Pietism from which modern day Protestantismdeveloped. Mission theology links systematic
theology with practical theology. It outlines and interprets mission systematically and practically
from the perspective of God s mission, Christ s mission, the mission of the Holy Spirit and the
mission of the Church. The true test of The Medieval Catholic Churchand Pietism regardless of the
merging of missiology or the divergence of missiology is determined by how well each one meets
the challenge of the triune God s mandated definition of mission. Ultimately, one must adhere to the
Great Commission found in Matthew Chapter 28, verses 16 20. in order to accomplish a God
centered missiology.
Tradition
Pietism viewed Scripture as the governing authority of one s life. However, the Medieval Catholic
Church embraced Scripture and traditions as authoritative. In fact, Catholicism placed equal
emphasis on Scripture and tradition. According to Catholic Catechism, this living transmission,
accomplished in the Holy Spirit, is called Tradition, since it is distinct from Sacred Scripture by
showing how its riches are poured out in the practice and life of the Church, in her belief and her
prayer. It

The Cost of Childcare Essay
Childcare or daycare is one of the most commonly used resources among Americans in the United
States. There are many options for childcare that parents could choose from. They have many
choices for childcare, ranging from: in home care, childcare facilities, after school or government
funded Head Start programs. . Head Start is a federally funded governmental program with the
explicit goal of preparing underprivileged children for primary education (Conley). This program is
another option for the pre k program. The cost of childcarehas risen dramatically over the past year,
and no one really knows whom to blame for it. The government offers families subsidies for
childcare, but that is only if your income is low. But, what about the... Show more content on

Some families are not able to provide childcare when they need it for their kid(s). The cost and the
scarcity of day care have helped create what sociologist Joya Misra calls the motherhood penalty
(Quart). Some families have to have only one income so that one parent could stay home to watch
the kid(s). Single parents have to move in with their parents for help because they can not afford
the care. People should not have to quit their jobs to take care of their kids when there are multiple
daycare facilities.
In fact, recent studies have shown that the cost of daycare in some states has exceeded the
average tuition and fees of a public college. The cost per week per child is at its all time high for
childcare and that it is making it hard for parents. Paying $100 $350 a week for childcare sounds
outrageous. The cost of having an infant child in most states is higher than having a 6 year old.
Most childcare facilities charge families by the kids ages, the younger the child, the higher the
cost. Honestly, daycare facilities are making a killing because people are having babies that need
care, but they have to go back to work to support their family. Low income families have to
struggle day by day because childcare is so expensive. Childcare is expensive; however it s really
an investment, because you

Singapore s Economic Growth And Political Stability
Founded as a British trading colony in 1819, Singapore later joined the Malaysian Federation in
1963, but separated two years later and became independent. Over the years, Singapore has grown
its international trading links becoming one of the most prosperous countries. Singapore has been
compared to the leading nations of Western Europe when it comes to its per capita gross domestic
product (GDP). Singapore has one of the world s busiest ports when comparing most tonnage
handled. After officially gaining sovereignty in 1965, the People s Action Party (PAP) has
dominated Singapore s politics. With a large amount of government controlled companies in the
local economy, and its powerful position, Singapore s government has maintained a clean,
corruption free image. With their dealings with communists during the early years the PAP s
governing philosophy is best described as a Socialist Democracy. Maintained by the paternal
guidance of the PAP, came Economic growth and political stability. Even though bureaucrats not
politicians administer Singapore, meritocracy is power, which is gained through performance, skill,
and loyalty to the policies of the nation. The Constitution of Singapore is the Supreme law. With the
constitution for the three organs of the state (Executive, the Legislative, and the Judiciary), It lays

Snowboarding Changes
It is strange that over time your view on a simple thing, such as snow can change so much over
the years. As a child, I loved snow! I loved the way it fell from the sky, falling in swirling patterns
as I ran around trying to catch one on my tongue.
It was a quite a process for my mother to put all the clothing that she thought was necessary. Once
this was done, I would run out and open the gate for the dogs, we owned five, they would stick
their nose in the snow then slingshot it towards my direction. We would continue this until I grew
tired then I would throw a tennis ball for them. I would throw the ball and watch it get buried in the
snow. Then the dogs would run in the general direction the ball was thrown and commenced

After spending two years in a tropical climate, coming home to a dry and cold climate seems
cruel. Especially when I have to walk from my apartment to my various classes. But, once again
my view on snow has changed once again when my friend invited me to go snowboarding with
him. It was the first time that I went snowboarding. I was feeling confident. because I know how
to skateboard and I thought I would be able to transition my skills fairly easily. We set out to my
roommates house to pick up his cousin and the snow gear for me. From there we went to the
resort; once we got all our gear one we walked to the bunny hill lift. It looked simple enough, all
you had to do was hold on to a rope that would pull you and the board up the hill. So I was partly
strapped in my board ready to grab on the rope. Once I grabbed on the force pulling me forward
surprised me, I bent this way and that eventually falling down. This happened two more times
until I gave up and walked the rest of the way up the hill. I like to say the bunny hill went better,
but it didn t. I soon realized that my skills as a skateboarder did not transition well. I fell many
times and there were no signs of me getting better. After we ran the bunny hill a few times my
roommate took me to the intermediate sloop. From the bottom of the hill I looked up at the
steep slope and I thought I was going to die if I went down that hill. Getting on the lift was not
as difficult as I thought, I jusr sat down and slid my board off the hill. The anticipation was
building going up the hill, because the lift kept stopping, making the ride even longer. I started
out really well, Sliding down the hill is a ziz zag formation. Then I made my first big mistake. I
was feeling a little more confident in my skills and decided to go a little faster. Once I decided to do
this my snowboard went over a patch of ice. The board slipped out from under my and I rolled und

Ambush Tim OBrien Analysis
War is a place where deaths, and unimaginable tragedies happen. If you speak to anyone who has
been part of a war, they most likely do not enjoy reminiscing and telling stories of it. That is
because war is a traumatic place, where the things soldiers see is so awful, that it should not be
repeated. In the short story Ambush by Tim O Brien, man s young daughter knew her dad
served in the army, this knowledge sparked her curiosity. This curiosity led her to ask her dad if
he has killed anyone, he denies doing anything of that sort. The story is him telling her the truth
when she is older of what actually happened. There are three messages that can be derived from
Tim O Brien s short story Ambush death is awful, and traumatic, also that death is sometimes
necessary, finally war changes people. Death is awful and traumatic, that is a message that can
be derived from the short story Ambush by Tim O Brien. The worst crime that a human can
commit is murdered, that is because human life is invaluably precious. Most people realize this
fact, and that is why war is so hard on soldiers. Killing someone is probably the most traumatic
thing in the world, that s why some soldiers come back with post traumatic stress. Those soldiers
can not handle the guilt that comes along with killing someone. In the story Ambush the soldier
kills a man while on watch of a camp, with a grenade. He seriously regrets this, before the grenade
even went off he wished that he could take it back.

Interior Dorm Design Company For Dorms
A.KC Design is an interior dorm design company for dorms. Our interior designing is the art or
process of designing, often including the arranging, of the dorm room, and labor buying the
decorations. As an interior designer as myself, is someone who directs and takes control in such
projects. Interior dorm designing is a multifaceted skilled profession that includes development,
creativity, thinking, and communicating with the owners of the project and the management
and execution of the design. What I do is a process of shaping the experience of an interior space
that reflects the owner s personality. It all started when everyone complimented me on my dorm
room and asked me to do there s. Then and there is when KC Design was born. B.We are unique
in a lot of ways, there is no other like us. Other interior dorm design businesses are all online or
in an app. So our market structure is considered to be a monolithic competition. Which is a type
of market structure in which many other businesses sell products that are similar to us but not
identical. There are no dorm design businesses that will knock on your dorm nor move furniture
themselves. My business is an intangible service. In the near future I would like KC Design to be
worldwide in every college campus. Which means I would have to have lots of universal
employees nationwide. Our availability of substitutes can be those whom wish to design their own
rooms themselves or choose not to do business with us KC Design.

Themes Of The American Dream In A Raisin In The Sun
In Lorraine Hansberry s play, A Raisin in the Sun, she addresses the American dream as
obtainable if you work hard and fight for it. The three main Characters have different views of
the American dream, which is a conflict between them all. The Character Mama a new home of
her own, Beneatha wants to go to medical school and Walter Lee sees owning business his
American dream. Mama, Walter Lee and Beneatha are three strong characters in conflict, all
trying to define the American dream. In the end despite Walter losing most of the money they
must come together to ensure that all dreams of a better life does not die. Realizing that respect
and pride for self and family is the true American Dream. What happens to a dream deferred?
(Hughes) Ruth Younger says to Mama, Well, Lord knows, we ve put enough rent into this here
rat trap to pay for four houses by now... Mama looks around with a smile and sarcastically agrees.
Mama explains to Ruth about the day her and Big Walter moved in. They had only planned to
stay in the small apartment for a year. They had dreams of saving for and buying a home of their
own. Lena Younger (Mama) gives an account of the dreams that her and Big Walter had when
they where a newly married couple. She is saddened by the reality that she and Big Walter s
dreams never happen. Hansberry changes the mood to one of regret. Mama gives a gripping
account of the kind of person Big Walter was. He was a hard working, hard headed mean man
that was wild with woman. He loved his children and wanted them to do something and be
something. With his dreams never coming true and him realizing they would never come true
he had hopes that his children were the key to making all his dreams worthwhile. Seems like
God didn t see fit to give the black man nothing but dreams But he did give us children to make
then dreams seem worthwhile. Mama quoting Big Walter s view on dreams in this scene show
how important it is to Mama to buy the home that her and Big Walter wanted to buy. Does it dry
up? Like a Raisin in the Sun? (Hughes) Or fester like a sore And then run? Does it stink like rotten
meat?(Hughes) Hansberry shows the character Walter Lee as a misogynist dreamer with no real

Improvement Required). From here, one will be terminated from job if there is not sign of
improvement within half year.
The next stage is the feedback system. The essential part of the performance feedback process is
the discussion between the manager and the employee. Prior to completing the RFF (Rank

performance feedback on the employee from a variety of sources.
The manager will choose to share this form with the employee in order to gather his/her input

During the discussion, the manager and employee will both discuss the employee s

Explain Why The Driving Age Should Not Be Raised
The legal driving age should not be raised. The legal age to get a job is sixteen, so it makes sense
to also making the legal driving age the same. Parents should not be expected to drive their kids to
and from work. Some may argue that they could take public transportation. However, many places,
including where I live, do not have daily buses, trains, etc. Another reason the drivingage should not
be raised is that there are many laws that only affect young drivers that influence them to be
responsible. The most accident prone age is 16, which is due to their lack of experience. Raising
the legal driving age would just make the new minimum age the most accident prone. Teens need
the freedom to drive so they don t have to rely on their parents.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Cesar Chavez
About 85% of churches are not fully active with their community. Statics have higher throughout
the years, about 40 years ago Mexicans were being treated unfairly due to poor working
conditions. This unbarring situation leads to a fellow leader, Chavez to step up and build a firm
foundation to led us Mexican Americans to success. Chavez had many helpers from different
communities, but his own. The Mexican American organization was let down by their own
church. This escalated to such an overwhelming experience. In Chavez speech, The Mexican
Americans and the Church insinuates the catastrophe of the church s involvement. Chavez
explains his purpose thoroughly to the audience, uses pathos and has an effective tone to allow
him to build his organization. Therefore, Cesar Chavez wanted the church to support his
organization, therefore his intended audience for his speech was his local church and the
Mexican American Community. Cesar went through a spiritual fasting, in which he did not eat
due to the hazardous chemicals in field fruit. Chavez was a Catholic and used his morals for a
nonviolent protest to better working conditions for field workers. He was the leader of the
Mexican American Community in Delano, Ca. He indicates how powerful a church s
involvement can be: It is powerful moral and spiritual force cannot be ignored by any movement
(Chavez). He believes if the church got more involved they would grow as an organization and
would strive to be seen and heard. Chavez had strong hopes to fulfil his dream of making a
change. The church s involvement would heavy impact his journey He wants to persuade, change
their options and have a wider spectrum. In addition, Chavez wants the church to hear his opinion.
He stated this matter at the Second Annual Conference in Sacramento, Ca. After his speech he
gained over 6,000 people to join his fast. He could have not accomplished that without the help of
an organization called California Migrant Ministry. This organization is a protestant group who
helped Chavez succeed. Because their relationship grew, the ministry was right by Cesar s side
during the strikes. He later on explains how supportive the ministry was, When 30 of the strikers
were arrested for

Bat Guano Research Paper
Bats aren t dangerous creatures by nature, but that doesn t make them everyone s favourite
houseguests. Living with bats brings potentially harmful side effects. Find out more about bat
infestation dangers that could harm your household, and learn what to do if you have bats living in
your home.
1. Bat Guano
Are you wondering how dangerous it is to have bat guano in the attic? It s one of the biggest
consequences of finding bats in the home because their droppings contain several harmful viruses.
A few bats in the home can slowly turn into a full blown colony, which results in a larger pile of
guano in the home and around their exits and entrances. This can increase the chance of the
airborne fungus Histoplasma capsulatum being carried throughout the home. You might end up
inadvertently breathing it in through natural air circulation.
Homeowners should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
External Damage
Interior damage isn t your only concern: Your home s exterior may require mending. If you find
milky white stains on roofing, shingles, and brick, it s bat urine, and it requires a thorough clean up.
One feature of bat anatomy includes a greasy, oily coat trail, which covers their fur in a smooth
gloss. This oily residue leaves a mark around entry points. If you found rub marks around
entrances, they may be slightly sticky, covered in bat hairs, and appear to be a yellow brown or
black colour.
Bats find any way possible to enter a home through the roof, the chimney, and even the vents.
This can damage your home s integrity, in addition to creating costly repairs. For a closer look, use
a ladder around the home. You ll likely see piles of guano or urine in one area, and grease stains
around crevices and cracks. This is clear evidence of a bat entry and exit point.
Broken shingles and loose boards make it easy to slip inside, while creating a bigger problem for
you to fix. Regular home maintenance is important for reducing the likelihood of bats entering the
home.

E. D. Hirsch s Literary Analysis
E.D. Hirsch, also known as Eric Donald Hirsch was born on March 22, 1928. He is an American
educator and academic literary critic. Hirsch graduated in 1950, from Cornell University with
his Bachelors. Then, he later earned his Doctorate from Yale University in 1957. He taught at
Yale for about ten years before he accepted a professorship at the University of Virginia in the
year 1966. During his early works of writing, he focused on the interpretation of literature and
argues that a textual interpretation shouldn t disregard the influence of the author and the author
s cultural background. Aside from all of this, Hirsch also held some important theories on
education. Theory of Value Hirsch was a huge advocate for teaching core knowledge that
emphasizes upon specific information for students to learn. Basic topics such as government,
math, language skills, important events in world history, famous pieces of art, music and
literature are all a lasting body of knowledge according to Hirsch. He also believed that a child
should learn an expansive vocabulary because it helps to extend their knowledge and their ability
to learn new things. He also thinks that general knowledge should be a major goal for education

what makes an excellent film Essay
What makes an excellent film?
It took me a little while to come up with an answer to, What makes an excellent film? There really
is no answer, actually. I believe that an excellent film is within the eyes and emotions of the
audience. After researching and discovering what actually won Oscars and Golden Globe awards, it
came down to what the people thought, and the popularity of a film. It is extremely hard to predict
what will win these awards before the movie is even released to the public.
Before really thinking about the subject, some obvious traits of what I would consider an excellent
film would be superior acting, beautiful scenery, etc., such as many present categories in the
Academy or Golden Globe Awards. Of course I could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only other time that this had happened was in the 1950 s, for Ben Hur. These definitely have
something to do with what makes an excellent film, but I also believe that the personal connection
and emotions that someone has with a film is just as important.
I feel that the emotional connection that people make with a film is, in most cases, an extremely
important quality that directors can emphasize on in /their work. Whether it is a realistic movie
that is based off of a true story, or a children s Disney movie, anyone can experience a sense of a
character s point of view. Depending on the type of film (horror, suspense, comedy, drama, etc.),
this emotional connection can vary among different people. In a classic Disney film such as
Bambi, children can relate to Bambi. They can easily understand the type of experiences that he
goes through such as having friends (Thumper, a joyous rabbit, and Flower, a loving skunk),
playing on an icy pond, and even going through an emotional event of losing a loved one (the death
of Bambi s mother).
In general, people rarely want to watch films that they know they won t enjoy. This is why there
are so many types of films, and different people have different views on what makes an excellent
film . The media can have an

The perspective offered by such longitudinal data sheds remarkable light on the problem of
statutory rape, identifying for us key markers, as well as key actors, in the history of the law s

Perpetrators of statutory rape were not being pursued vigorously, as the concept of rape based on
presumed inability to consent to sex had fallen out of favor. ... As conservative commentators
decried the harmful public and financial consequences of the rising teen birth rate, a handful of
social scientists devoted their efforts to learning more about the relationships and behaviors that
led to births among teenagers: they studied the youth population and their sexual partners looking
for clues to explain changing patterns of behavior. ... Pursuant to changes in the SRVPP

predecessors, they constructed statutory rape as antithetical to the social norms of financial and
sexual responsibility and dangerous to society s welfare

Experiences Of My Experience
I want to share some of my experiences that my Dad and I have shared together. He has taught
me that I can overcome anything that comes my way. He has helped me to become truthful.
These experiences have shown me that lying gets you nowhere in life. Also has helped me to be
on time and arrive at least 20 or 30 minutes early. One of the other ones were that hard work pays
off in the end because without hard work we would not be as happy as we are now. One of the
experiences was my Dad and me riding our dirt bikes together .The trail my dad took me on that
was probably the scariest was at Kelly Canyon. I was 9 years old and had only been on a dirt
bike a handful of times. I didn t know how to ride very well. It was super hard for me to get up
the hills but on this particular ride coming down was even worse.. It had started to hail and rain
really hard. The trail became really slick and muddy. There was a huge cliff to my left and swear
I thought I was going to die. I wrecked so many times. Going over my handlebars once and
laying my bike down several times. I thought we would never get off that hill. In crazy times
likes this it is best to just take a deep breath and know you have what it takes to do it. As a result
of that ride I learned to trust myself. The second experience was when I lied to my Dad. I think
age nine seemed to be my most troubled year. One day my brother and I thought it would be fun to
hit some rocks with tennis rackets out of the neighbor s rock

Violence In The House Of The Spirits

It begins with the death of the beautiful Rosa. She was accidentally poisoned by having brandy

the injustice.
Esteban Trueba is an unusual protagonist and a good example to show the violence in the novel.

However, if both Alice and Bob rat out each other, they will be incarcerated for a year. The
question here is, what should Alice and Bob when they re interrogated? In game theory, we would
call this situation a prisoner s dilemma, which is a non zero sum game in which two players each
have two options whose outcome depends on the choice made by the other player at the same
time. The prisoner s dilemma is considered one of the most popular examples of game theory.
Here is a matrix of the prisoner s dilemma below: Bob cooperatesBob defects
Alice cooperatesAlice gets 6 monthsAlice gets released Bob gets 6 monthsBob gets 5 years
Alive defectsAlice gets 5 yearsAlice gets 1 year Bob gets releasedBob gets 1 year
In the matrix, Alice and Bob are playing a game that is played separately and confidential, and are
given the choice the cooperate with the police or defect. The prisoner s dilemma demands that
personal interest is more appealing. No matter what the other person says in the interrogation
room, both players are better off confessing rather than saying silent. But the problem here is, if
both Alice and Bob confess then they will be faced with a much harsher sentence than if either
Alice or Bob cooperate or defect. As Scheve writes, game theorists have determined that confessing
is always the answer for both parties in this case. The reason for this is that each party must assume

My Dream Journal
One of the best things I ve done in my life is that I ve constantly kept a dream journal. When I
was only 14, I became interested in what dreams meant and ever since then I ve taken my
dreams very seriously. I use my dreams to help me understand what is going on in my life and
what I need to do going forward. If you are not currently keeping a record of your dreams, let me
list the reasons why you should take this dreamjournal challenge and start!
5 Reasons To Keep A Dream Journal
1. Others Can t Interpret Your Dreams For You
Everyone wakes up from time to time and wonders what did that dream mean?
There are different places online you can go to get help to interpret your dreams. For instance, you
can check out Dream Moods, type in ex boyfriend and get a pre written response on what it means
to dream about an ex boyfriend.
Some of the interpretation is pretty good, and I m not saying that it might not be an accurate
interpretation for you. However, there is a good chance that it s not. The dream may not just
about your ex boyfriend (or whatever you dreamt about) and some generic interpretations. In fact,
there may be something else in the dream, such as a place or feeling, that is the real focus of the
dream and why you are having it.
When you keep a dream journal, you can write down all those little parts of the dream that make up
the whole, and as you go over your dream you may find that the dream is more about something
else than what you originally thought.

In the first version of the story, the fisherman catches a large flounder from the bottom of the
clear water. The flounder implored the fisher to release him implying that he does not taste
good. Feeling sympathy, the fisherman released him; however, when once he returned to the
fisher spot suggested by his wife, the water changed to two different colors: yellow and green.
The fisherman summoned the flounder caught earlier with the following chant: Mandje!
Mandje! Timpe Te! Flounder, flounder, in the sea! My wife, my wife Ilsebill, Wants not, wants
not, what I will. For each wish, the water changes to different colors and conditions: Purple dark
blue as well as gray and dense, dark grey and becoming violent with a foul smell, black and dense
with a strong wind, red sky with little blue in the middle including roaring water occupied by
tossing ships with distress signals and lightning, and a pitch black sky with dark waves as hell
as a mounting. In the second translation, the fisher uses a different chant to summon a large
flounder: Flounder, flounder in the sea, Come, I pray thee, here to me. For my wife, good
ilsabil, Wills not as I d have her will. The difference from the previous version is that the water
produces bubbles as it roars when the fisherman came back to the flounder wishing for the wife
to be an emperor and ships were shooting guns as well as leaves falling during the fisherman s
trip to the water to wish the wife to be a pope. In the video adaptation version of the story, the
fisherman made a chant that differs from the previous versions: Flounder, flounder in the sea,
come I pray thee here to me, for my good wife, Penelope, wishes what she should not be. In this
adaptation, the flounder has gold and silver scales. The sea became green and thick which boils
from bellow as the fisherman began wishing for his wife to

MacEwan University, Department of Biology.
Abstract: Trophic cascades are powerful forces that have a pronounced effect on ecosystems. They
occur when predation causes shifts in prey dynamics that indirectly lead to enhanced survival in the
next lowest trophic level. Walleye fishing bans at Lac la Biche coinciding with a restocking effort
have led to a large recovery of walleye populations. The increase in populations of a high trophic
level predator should cause shifts in a lower trophic level species (yellow perch) prey preferences
from fish towards invertebrate prey. 576 yellow perch stomach collected from 2009 2013 by
Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development were sent to MacEwan University
for processing/analysis. Yellow perch stomachs will be measured (dry weight, empty weight), and
prey items will be removed identified and weighed. Sampling procedure differs depending on the
type of prey item removed from the stomach (fish, macro and micro invertebrates). Length and
weight measurements will be taken for fish and macro invertebrates; whereas, micro invertebrates
will be sub sampled until 50 100 individuals can be identified. Data will be analyzed using multi

He could have been based off of TomГЎs Garrido Canabal. He is a committed socialist and doesn t
care much for the Church. During his term he persecuted the Church, killing many priests. While
he is supposedly living for the people , he puts into practice a plan of taking hostages from
villages and shooting them. The lieutenant thinks that all members of the church are evil, and
believes that the church is corrupt. He believes in radical social reform. He is capable of acts of
some kinds of kindness, as when he gives bail to the priest to get him out of jail. (Greene) At the
end of the novel, the lieutenant admits he has nothing against the priest as a man, but he must be

to hear the priest s confession, but the gesture is rejected. The lieutenant thinks that he has cleared
the state of the church s presence. Yet, in the last part of the novel, another Jesuit priest arrives in
the town. This could be a hint from the author that the church will never be completely demolished

The, The Buddhist Monastic Order
The Sangha, the Buddhist monastic order, comprises Bhikku (monks), Bhikkuni (nuns), laymen,
and laywomen. While the Bhikku and Bhikkuni depend upon the laywomen and men for economic
support, the lay community depends on them for spiritual guidance and ritualistic practices. This
well rounded mutual relationship is clearly a division not only amongst religious status, but
determined by gender as well. This is quite a contradiction with the Buddhist belief that your
physical self is impermanent and ultimately attachment to your illusory self will cause you
suffering. The second Noble Truth states that suffering originates from our ongoing desire, a
clinging to possessions, attachments, and self. Why would a religion founded in the idea of
shedding attachment focus so much on gender, which is an attachment? I feel that the Buddha s
hesitation in allowing women to be initially recognized in the Sangha originates from his early
childhood convictions of women, fear of the Dharma becoming further compromised, and
ultimately leading to the deterioration of Buddhism altogether. The Buddha s hesitations regarding
women becoming monastics seem to be questionable because of the way women have responded to
this discrimination even during the Buddha s lifetime. These women are evidently devoted to the
ideals and teachings of Buddhism because of their ability to shed attachments and embody a fully
monastic lifestyle. As they are shedding their attachments they give up their gender.

Professional Sports Salary Cap Analysis
Do you know why the salary cap is crucial to a well functioning organization? All professional
sport organizations should be required to have a salary cap, it prevents owners from wasting their
money on players, the salary cap keeps the league fair and competitive, the salary cap also helps
the leagues and teams make money. The leagues without a salary cap often face difficulties and
financial hardships.
The salary cap prevents the wasting and frivolous spending of money. The Detroit Tigersstar third
baseman, Miguel Cabrera signed a 300 million dollar contract for the next 10 years (Pagels). His
contract is for $30 million until he is 41 years old. While he is at the top of his game right now, it
is unlikely that he will continue to perform ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The MLB payroll usually has a huge gap between the top spender and bottom spender which
makes it uncompetitive. The Los Angeles Dodgers payroll was 234 million and the Miami
Marlins payroll was 65 million in 2015 that being a difference of 169 million (Blum). With the
huge gap in pay reflects in the quality of play. In 2013 Alex Rodriguezwas paid 29 million in 2013
that is 4 million more than the entire Astros roster. That is not fair at all because if a single
player is deemed better than a whole team how can it be expected to be a competitive game.
Having a salary cap allows for the stardom of new and upcoming teams. Before 1994 the NFL
was often dominated by 4 to 5 teams now after they have implemented the salary cap and other
teams have emerged and became dominant and they have even won championships. Studies show
that in most cases that money spent relates to the amount of regular season wins a team has.
Therefore if there was a salary cap in every sport it would be much more

The Narmer Palette
For about 3000 years, there were conventions to Egyptian art. The way people, gods, and the
natural world were depicted was governed by these canons. There were styles and techniques that
could be found used in almost every painting from the Early Dynastic period to the New Kingdom,
and the Narmer Palette is one of the earliest works discovered that depicts these traditional
conventions of Egyptian art.
The Narmer Palette is a ceremonial object that was made between 3000 and 2920 BCE. It was
found ritually buried in a temple for the god Horus in Hierakonpolis, Egypt. Throughout this work
are many different examples of traditional Egyptian styles and techniques being used. Both sides of
the palette are divided into registers. The back of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is commonly believed that it shows the unification of Lower and Upper Egypt, as on one side
the King wears the crown of Lower Egypt and on the other, he wears the crown of Upper Egypt.
This is the earliest discovered example of the same king wearing both crowns. There is a dispute
over whether the scenes are supposed to depict an actual battle or battles that took place during the
unification or if it is ceremonial and represents the unification.
This work caught my attention because of how it depicts the conventions of Egyptian art. It is
interesting to compare this work of art to the works created during the Middle and the New
Kingdom and see the similarities in how hieratic scale is used to show importance, composite
poses, the combination of both art and language, and many others. The Narmer Palette is
seemingly the start to 3000 years of artistic style. Another thing that interests me about this work is
that it is a palette. A palette is not something considered special in modern times, yet back then it
must have had a more important meaning or been a more common everyday object for someone to
care to take the time to create this piece as a palette, rather than just a work of art.
The Narmer Palette is ancient work of art that demonstrates many of the conventions that were
found in Egyptian art for thousands of years after the creation of this

Comparing Zappos And Trader Joe s Social Media
For this assignment, I ll be comparing and contrasting Zappos and Trader Joe s social media
channels. At the bottom of Zappos homepage they have an easy to spot Connect with Us header
with the following social media channels icons: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, their own blog, and
Instagram. Instagram has a bigger icon and call out to follow Zappos on Instagram. Their
Facebook page has 1,999,074 likes and is updated daily. In For Veterans Day, they posted an
engaging video honoring disabled veterans by sharing their stories and providing shoes to the vets.
The video is very catching and highly relevant. Zappos successfully answers questions from
(potential) customers on their posts creating a two way relationship. Zappos ... Show more content

Their website is easy to navigate, informative, up to date, and eye catching but the only way to
contact them is in person at a store, by phone, or through their customer inquiries page. A
consumer may not have the patience to resolve an issue or send an inquiry if it s not almost
instantly responded to. That s one important aspect of social media channels, the almost
simultaneous interaction and sense of being heard immediately. One may argue that they don t
need any social media presence since they ve been doing well so far but with the growing
number of consumers using social media channels, I would advise them to start at least two
channels. I feel that a Twitter and Facebook channel would be the best places to start. They would
be able to target a wide array of audiences through these channels. To start, they could link their
Facebook and Twitter accounts allowing them to post on one site and have it be seen on the other.
Gradually they could start crafting Twitter specific tweets and unlink their Facebook and Twitter
channels. They already release an e newsletter and I feel that the language, recipes, products, etc.
would be easy to post or tweet

What Is Tacit Knowledge Approach
The tacit knowledge approach highlights understanding the sorts of knowledge that individuals in
an organization have, moving people to transfer knowledge within an organization and managing
key individuals as knowledge creators and carriers. One of the significant capabilities of
competition is managing perceived intangible assets such as knowledgein organization. Besides
managing this intangible asset of enterprises, another vital issue is considered as diffusion of
knowledge within the organization. Knowledge resources can be divided into at least two different
components depending on the possibility of structuring and coding the knowledge. The possibility
to code and the externalization of knowledge is of essential importance to the diffusion of it
according to some researchers, while other again considers the codifying unnecessary or of minor
importance. Structured knowledge is often diffused by different systems for storing and sharing
knowledge and today there has been much scientific interest in the technology of these systems.
The most important feature of the tacit knowledgeapproach is the fundamental principle that
knowledge is basically individual in nature and is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A market culture is a type of corporate culture that emphasizes competitiveness not only between the
organization and its market competitors but also between employees. The market model is the most
aggressive and capitalistic of the four common corporate culture models. Employees are encouraged
to set difficult goals and strive to achieve them. Employee performance is closely monitored and
often directly rewarded or punished. The emphasis on individual performance is thought to lead to
greater achievement for the individual employee and, as a result, greater success for the
organization. Critics of the market model, on the other hand, argue that the emphasis on individual
achievement can promote dishonesty and an unpleasant and thus unproductive work

The Palace Of Versailles Housed The French Government
The Palace of Versailles housed the French government and all its royalty during the reigns of
Louis XIV XVI. After the French Revolution in 1789 however, it was no longer a permanent royal
residence for the government or royalty in France. It is located about 10 miles southwest of Paris,
beside the settlement of Versailles. Before Louis XIV inherited it, it was little more than a hunting
lodge built by Louis XIII, which he turned into a chateau. Soon however, it became one of the
largest urban centers, and the housing for many important officials in France. The Complex
included the palace, gardens, fenced in royal hunting ground, a structure known as the Grand

However, because of the water they had to supply for the fountains they were only used for
special occasions. The Versailles was dressed to impress for shore, with the impressiveness the
main goal of the palace.
The king built himself a Grand Trianon a mile northwest of the palace as a place for him to work
in private. People could only visit him there if invited, and it is said the garden of tuberoses
there had an overwhelming sent that drew people away. King Louis XIV s bedroom was built
on the upper floor, located centrally along the east west axis of the palace. It was considered was
the most important room in the palace. There they also had two of the3 important ceremonies
there, the lever and the coucher. They were just ceremonies for when the king woke up and
when he went to sleep. The king also had a ceremony for when he put on and took of his hunting
boots. People would attend the ceremonies as much as possible and did not desire to be absent.
the beauty of the palace itself complemented the ceremonies. The beauty emphasized the
achievements and power of the king himself. The king s bedroom and apartment were located
near the Hall of Mirrors which told a narrative of Louis XIV as King of France, and depicted
many of the battles fought in France. The king s throne was also located at the Apollo salon , and
he worshiped at the Royal chapel at the palace.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt s Four Freedoms Speech
On January 6, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt spoke to the nation in his annual message to
Congress, known as his State of the Union Address, which came to be known as the Four
Freedoms speech. Roosevelt listed the four freedoms as:
1.Freedom of speech and expression.
2.Freedom of everyone to worship God in his own way.
3.Freedom from want, meaning economic understandings to secure a healthy life during times of
peace.
4.Freedom from fear.
Roosevelt translated fear utilizing international language to mean a reduction of military weapons
and equipment, all over the world, so thoroughly that nations everywhere would be in a position
that would prevent any physical aggression against anyone. It was Roosevelt s intentions that these
freedoms would apply to every nation everywhere in the world. These Four Freedoms were the
focus for the American soldiers as they entered the war in support of Great Britain.
Good Neighbor Policy During his administration in 1933, President Roosevelt used the term, Good
Neighbor Policy, which had first been spoken by President Woodrow Wilson who afterward,
ironically invaded Mexico. Roosevelt s intention was to establish a ... Show more content on

Dandelion Wine Chapter Summary
Bradbury, Ray. Dandelion Wine. New York: Doubleday, 1957. Print. Genre: Novel Plot Summary:
Dandelion Wine, written by Ray Bradbury, is the story of Douglas Spaulding and the events of his
1928 summer. Over the next few months Douglas has multiple revelations, all while experiencing
traumatic incidents that make him question everything he knows. Some of the major revelations
that he encounters include realizing that both he is alive, and also that some day he will have to
die. Although these seem like basic ideas that everyone should know, to Douglas it was
extraordinary news that made him see the world in front of him so much clearer than ever before.
After the shock of figuring out he was really alive, Douglas decides to start recording... Show more

Shine Light on Millions of Mirrors:
Digital Light Processing Projector
Abstract A digital light processing projector is a type of display device that uses a digital micro
mirror chip. The most common application of this projector is in movie theaters. In movie theaters,
films are shown by digital light processing projector, which emits light through color wheel and
reflects it with micro mirror chip. The two main technologies of digital light processing projector,
color wheel and micro mirror chip are engineered so precisely that it can create at least 16.7
million colors and refresh a screen 120 times per second [1]. The technology of digital light
processing projector is continuously moving forward and soon it will be prevalent in home theaters.
Introduction
Recall our middle school memory in which we used to have one overhead projector in every
classroom. A teacher writes on a transparency sheet with a colored pen and a lamp under the
black box shines on the transparency sheet and the shadow of footprint is shown on the screen
through the mirror that is above the black box. It was very analog in a sense that it could only
project a still sketch and its color reproduction is very limited.
Late 1990 s is the beginning of the digitalization and our engineering endeavor at overhead
projector is Digital Light Processing projector. It may sound very high technologic, however, the
science behind it is quite straightforward

  • 3. Amylase Temperature This experiment was performed to demonstrate how varying temperatures affects the activity of the enzyme, amylase. Also, it was conducted to determine the optimal temperature for the fungal, Aspergillus oryzae, and bacterial amylases by placing them both into different test tubes with differing temperature conditions. At varying time intervals, both enzymes were removed from their assigned temperatures. A drop of each enzymewill then be placed on two different spot plates with a pipette. All the wells on the spot plates contain three drops of iodine to clearly show whether a reaction has taken place. The pipette was used to mix the iodine with the starchenzyme to organize the levels of starch catabolism based on temperature. At the end of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amylase is the enzyme that catabolizes starch polymers into maltose which is a saccharide, or sugar, used as a food source and to store energy. In addition, both starch and amylase are essential in the commercial production of syrups, other food products and brewing processes (Alberte, Pitzer, Calero, 2012). Although, it is important to know the optimal temperatures of both enzymes, it is also important to know that this is not the only factors that affects the activity of the enzymes. Substrate concentration, salt concentration, and pH level are affect enzymatic activity. The presence of inhibitors, or molecules that bind to an enzyme decrease its activity, while activators increase enzymatic activity. If the temperature of an enzyme is greater than the optimal temperature, the active site of that enzyme denatures. In other words, it changes shape, which will prevent substrate binding. Without the substrate binding, the enzyme will not be able to carry out its normal functions and this can lead to a deficiency of an enzyme. In this case, if there were insufficient amylase in human body, it can cause cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, or Crohn s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Seaworld Park, California, Florida, And Texas SeaWorld opened in 1964 along the Mission Bay in San Diego, stretching a total of 21 acres. When they first started, their park only had 45 employees, a few dolphins, sea lions, and two saltwater aquariums. Today, several parks are spread out throughout the southern United States in California, Florida, and Texas. SeaWorld provides various shows every day with special perks for high paying guests, such as swimming with dolphins and other sea dwellers. A majority of their shows include orcas, otherwise known as killer whales. Recently, these majestic beasts have been living up to those names, attacking, mauling, and fatally injuring the parks own trainers. Blackfish, a documentary released in 2013, gets up close and personal with these stories of attack, to bring us countless reasons why orcas, and other marine life, should be left to live in their natural habitats, instead of in the concrete cells they rot in now. Orca pods are part of a matriarchal society, the females are more dominant and this can cause disputes between the alphas. When orcas are confined to a small space, these fights can get out of hand, disallowing the least dominant one to run, resulting in injury and death to the whales. Over the past 35 years there have been four deaths and countless injuries, and each time SeaWorld has placed the blame upon the trainers, explaining they hadn t completed basic safety procedures. Orcas should not be kept in captivity for many reasons. Firstly, they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A College Experience As the forty three year old working mom sat down, she is calm, yet there is a vibe of nervousness. The restaurant is quiet, excluding the older women in the back. When the interview starts it is very quiet and awkward, but once she starts to give more and more information about the process of college and the obstacles she overcame, the interview flows naturally. There are many forms of a college experience, there is not caring, there is learning, and there is having fun. Tracy Zalud, current third grade teacher, had a mixture of all of those during her years of attending Illinois State University. Before Tracy chooses to go to Illinois State, her main option is Northern Illinois University. When she gets the make it or break it letter back from Northern, it does not bring back good news. As the question about being accepted or not comes up, there is a slight disappointment in her eyes. She answers to a firm No. Then she continues to say, I wanted to go to NIU more than ISU because I had a boyfriend that went there, but I didn t get accepted there, so ISU was my only choice. After hearing this response, the next question is if she regrets going to Illinois. She does not regret it, it ended up being the right choice, so the following up question requires her to explain why. She replies, Um, because it was far enough away from home and what I really needed was to become independent and I didn t know anybody when I was there, so I was forced to um meet new people. • 6. How To Keep Animal Testing Persuasive Essay An estimated 26 million animals are being tested on yearly. Animal testing has helped humanity in many ways ever since it started about 2,500 years ago. Cures have been created for many viruses and sicknesses but it has come with a cost to the animals. Animals are being put in horrendous living conditions that often cause them anxiety and pain. People in favor of animal of animal testing argue that we should keep testing on animals to further scientific research, while those against animal testing believe that there are other ways to achieve the same results. Animal testing has been around since 500 B.C, and dissecting animals began in the 2nd century. Descriptions in ancient greek writing telling about dissecting live animals was found and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ninety percent of the medicines we test on animals have not helped humans, they also do not reliably predict results for humans. According to Neurologist Aysha Akhtar 100 stroke drugs were effective on animals but failed on humans. Experiments animals undergo are often flawed and waste the lives of animals. Thomas Hartung states it s very hard to create an animal model that even equates closely to what we re trying to achieve in the human. Animal testing might also mislead researchers to the fact that animals have a different response to medicines that might be helpful to humans, for example Aspirin is dangerous to some animals. Animal testing is also more expensive than alternate methods we have found. Though many people argue that animal testing should be stopped to find alternative methods, others still believe animal testing should continue to further medical research.Countries have found cures, vaccines, and treatments that have saved many lives thanks to animal testing, but there is still a cost to it. The suffering, pain, and confusion animals go through for our benefit can be stopped. Though it may be a good way to test, in many ways it still has its flaws, the community could change these flaws by finding alternative methods to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You can use them in any room and today s sofa beds are far more comfortable than the ones you slept as a youngster. However, as with anything in life, there are a few things you need to know before taking the plunge. Here are six vital points to consider when buying a sofa bed. The mattress is critical Sofa beds come in all shapes and sizes, but the most important feature is the mattress. A good mattress can add a little extra to the retail price of the sofa bed, of course. • 8. Employee Retention And Turnover Rate Employee Retention and Turnover Employee retention could be described as the efforts by any business or organization to develop strategies and initiatives that support current staff into remaining with the organization. Retention is the ability to hold onto those employees you would want to keep for longer than your competition (Johnson, 2000). Success or otherwise of an organization in retaining its employee s is measured in terms of Employee Retention Rate (ERR) or through assessment of the Employee Turnover Rate (ETR).High employee retention rate means that employee turnover rate has been low and vice versa. Companies today are interested in retaining valuable employees and good employees are increasingly becoming more difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, Silverthorne (2004) notes that, turnover causes significant expense to an organization, including direct costs of replacing an employee and indirect cost related to loss of experience and lowered productivity. These costs have important implications for an organization, notes Silverthorne, and anything that can be done to reduce turnover will lead to significant benefits to an organization. Recruiting is arguably one of the most critical roles of an HR manager (Pandey et al., 2012). Organizational performance can be credited with the identification and selection of the most talented individuals. An employee with high potential suggests that there is a future viability that is not present in the existing workforce (Yarnall, 2011). An appropriately structured recruitment strategy is essential for the future success of an organization and at times can determine whether that organization will grow or recede during a particular economic period. A successful recruiting strategy can improve recruiting effectiveness by 30% and reduce the time to fill that position by 28% (CEB, 2012). It is clear that whatever recruitment strategy is being used, the desired outcome has not been reached. • 9. Health Care Reform In Canada Health care reform has been the main factor of parting between Canada and the United States, with the different political systems of the countries influencing how the molding of the system occurs. A Social Democratic Third Party in Canada had created the foundation of reform, the influence that a third party had on the government of Canadawas significant (Maioni, 1997, p.415). The working class banded together to support the third party in Canada to push for their rights in a way that the major two parties were unable to do and unconcerned with doing, the third party that was supported created essentially a voice that gave the working class a prominent position in their country with concern to reform in health benefits. Beginning in Saskatchewan with the help of the Co Operative Commonwealth Federation in coalition with the New Democratic Party holding control in the province of Sasakachwan and acquiring great influence through the support of labour workers in other provinces they were able to pressure the government towards reform and grasp the attention of the working class (Maioni, 1997, p.415). The joining of an organization like the CCF and the political party of NDP created great influence that led to the formation of universal health care by means of a third party. As opposed to the United States who were unable to convince the organization nor the political party to get involved in the reforms of health services, this stood in the way of reform, the inability to form a coalition between these two groups and inability to convince them of reforms in healthcare led to the rejection (Maioni, 1997, p.420). It was not solely an issue of the lack of third party representation rather that health care reform was not an idea that had an opportunity to be tested in a state under a trial basis therefore they were unable to weigh the benefits or consequences as had happened in Saskatchewan, in which they essentially had senn how the system worked and drew up the conclusion that that universal health care would be a benefit to Canada (Maioni, 1997, p.421). ... • 10. The Transformation of Society in The City of the End of... The future of society is an often unpredictable topic due to its many variables. In The Lost Island and in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as something detrimental to the society each story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The Lost Island , this concept is manifested in the visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the oppression of his people by the arrival of the colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , this concept is expressed through the downfall of greater humansociety in favour of a colder, more robotic age. These two texts exemplify the variable nature of the future by focusing on the harmful possibilities that may befall society. Each of these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem The City of the End of Things , the narrator recalls the manner in which humanity existed before the rise of the technological era so that the current environment has a greater impact. The story The Lost Island represents the status of the Aboriginal people as the confirmation of a prophecy which foretold their inevitable oppression. This detrimental state of their society is the result of the foreseen arrival of the non Aboriginal people to Vancouver. The prophecy that foretold this states of the people is told by the character known only as my old tallicum [friend] (Johnson 233). Within the story, this character is telling another, unnamed character, a specific story about the history of their people (Johnson 233). According to this story, an old medicine man was once plagued by visions of the future. He was described as hearing voices throughout his life, which told him about the inevitable arrival of the white man...many hundreds of them, many thousands of them (Johnson 234). The prophecy continued, claiming that the Indians will learn [the white man s] ways...will become as they are...it will be as if the Indians had lost all bravery, all courage, all confidence (Johnson 234). The accuracy of this prophecy is made clear in earlier passages of the story. The Lost Island began with the main character saying, we Indians have lost...our lands...[our] language and the legends and the traditions... (Johnson 233). From this it is ... I will never forget the night he died. How I had been with him just minutes before, and how his death was totally unnecessary and preventable. A few weeks before Christmas in 2001, Joey, myself and a few of my other co workers were closing down the local restaurant we worked at while attending Umass Lowell. It had been a busy night, and we didn t end up finishing work until 1am. Having worked all day, we were all extremely tired, and could not wait to go home. On a more positive note, gains are being made towards the direction of holding those presumed guilty of drowsy driving accountable for their reckless behavior. Unfortunately, it has taken a series of deaths in order to trigger this movement. One of the first laws developed (Maggie s Law,) was done so by the mother of 20 year old Maggie McDonnell who was hit head on by a van driven by a drowsy driver in 1997. Mrs. McDonnell (the mother of Maggie,) was infuriated to learn that there was not a single law created to address the issue of vehicular homicide as a result of sleep deprivation, and therefore set forth to create one. Her efforts were successful, and in 2003 the nations first drowsy driving law was implemented. Maggie s Law ammends the spectrum of vehicular homicide to include those who who operarte a vehicle while sleep deprived. Under Maggie s Law, offenders can be prosecuted if there is proof beyond a doubt that the operator fell asleep while driving, or was awake for more than 24 consecutive hours. Conviction under this law can carry a maximum penalty of ten years in prison. (Weaver 1). As a future sleep technician, and a person who has suffered personally from the aftermath of a friend falling asleep at the wheel, the topic of drowsy driving is one concerns me. • 12. Differences Between The Medieval Catholic Church And Pietism The Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism are both rooted in the common ideology that God desires relationship and salvation for all. However, the two differ greatly in missiology, theology and daily practicality. There are major points of divergence between the Medieval Catholic Church and Pietism from which modern day Protestantismdeveloped. Mission theology links systematic theology with practical theology. It outlines and interprets mission systematically and practically from the perspective of God s mission, Christ s mission, the mission of the Holy Spirit and the mission of the Church. The true test of The Medieval Catholic Churchand Pietism regardless of the merging of missiology or the divergence of missiology is determined by how well each one meets the challenge of the triune God s mandated definition of mission. Ultimately, one must adhere to the Great Commission found in Matthew Chapter 28, verses 16 20. in order to accomplish a God centered missiology. Tradition Pietism viewed Scripture as the governing authority of one s life. However, the Medieval Catholic Church embraced Scripture and traditions as authoritative. In fact, Catholicism placed equal emphasis on Scripture and tradition. According to Catholic Catechism, this living transmission, accomplished in the Holy Spirit, is called Tradition, since it is distinct from Sacred Scripture by showing how its riches are poured out in the practice and life of the Church, in her belief and her prayer. There are many options for childcare that parents could choose from. They have many choices for childcare, ranging from: in home care, childcare facilities, after school or government funded Head Start programs. . Head Start is a federally funded governmental program with the explicit goal of preparing underprivileged children for primary education (Conley). This program is another option for the pre k program. The cost of childcarehas risen dramatically over the past year, and no one really knows whom to blame for it. Some families are not able to provide childcare when they need it for their kid(s). The cost and the scarcity of day care have helped create what sociologist Joya Misra calls the motherhood penalty (Quart). Some families have to have only one income so that one parent could stay home to watch the kid(s). Single parents have to move in with their parents for help because they can not afford the care. People should not have to quit their jobs to take care of their kids when there are multiple daycare facilities. In fact, recent studies have shown that the cost of daycare in some states has exceeded the average tuition and fees of a public college. The cost per week per child is at its all time high for childcare and that it is making it hard for parents. Paying $100 $350 a week for childcare sounds outrageous. The cost of having an infant child in most states is higher than having a 6 year old. Most childcare facilities charge families by the kids ages, the younger the child, the higher the cost. Honestly, daycare facilities are making a killing because people are having babies that need care, but they have to go back to work to support their family. Low income families have to struggle day by day because childcare is so expensive. Childcare is expensive; however it s really an investment, because you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Singapore s Economic Growth And Political Stability Founded as a British trading colony in 1819, Singapore later joined the Malaysian Federation in 1963, but separated two years later and became independent. Over the years, Singapore has grown its international trading links becoming one of the most prosperous countries. Singapore has been compared to the leading nations of Western Europe when it comes to its per capita gross domestic product (GDP). Singapore has one of the world s busiest ports when comparing most tonnage handled. After officially gaining sovereignty in 1965, the People s Action Party (PAP) has dominated Singapore s politics. With a large amount of government controlled companies in the local economy, and its powerful position, Singapore s government has maintained a clean, corruption free image. With their dealings with communists during the early years the PAP s governing philosophy is best described as a Socialist Democracy. I loved the way it fell from the sky, falling in swirling patterns as I ran around trying to catch one on my tongue. It was a quite a process for my mother to put all the clothing that she thought was necessary. Once this was done, I would run out and open the gate for the dogs, we owned five, they would stick their nose in the snow then slingshot it towards my direction. I was feeling confident. because I know how to skateboard and I thought I would be able to transition my skills fairly easily. We set out to my roommates house to pick up his cousin and the snow gear for me. From there we went to the resort; once we got all our gear one we walked to the bunny hill lift. It looked simple enough, all you had to do was hold on to a rope that would pull you and the board up the hill. So I was partly strapped in my board ready to grab on the rope. Once I grabbed on the force pulling me forward surprised me, I bent this way and that eventually falling down. This happened two more times until I gave up and walked the rest of the way up the hill. I like to say the bunny hill went better, but it didn t. I soon realized that my skills as a skateboarder did not transition well. I fell many times and there were no signs of me getting better. After we ran the bunny hill a few times my roommate took me to the intermediate sloop. From the bottom of the hill I looked up at the steep slope and I thought I was going to die if I went down that hill. Getting on the lift was not as difficult as I thought, I jusr sat down and slid my board off the hill. The anticipation was building going up the hill, because the lift kept stopping, making the ride even longer. I started out really well, Sliding down the hill is a ziz zag formation. If you speak to anyone who has been part of a war, they most likely do not enjoy reminiscing and telling stories of it. That is because war is a traumatic place, where the things soldiers see is so awful, that it should not be repeated. In the short story Ambush by Tim O Brien, man s young daughter knew her dad served in the army, this knowledge sparked her curiosity. This curiosity led her to ask her dad if he has killed anyone, he denies doing anything of that sort. The story is him telling her the truth when she is older of what actually happened. There are three messages that can be derived from Tim O Brien s short story Ambush death is awful, and traumatic, also that death is sometimes necessary, finally war changes people. Death is awful and traumatic, that is a message that can be derived from the short story Ambush by Tim O Brien. The worst crime that a human can commit is murdered, that is because human life is invaluably precious. Most people realize this fact, and that is why war is so hard on soldiers. Killing someone is probably the most traumatic thing in the world, that s why some soldiers come back with post traumatic stress. Those soldiers can not handle the guilt that comes along with killing someone. In the story Ambush the soldier kills a man while on watch of a camp, with a grenade. He seriously regrets this, before the grenade even went off he wished that he could take it back. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Themes Of The American Dream In A Raisin In The Sun In Lorraine Hansberry s play, A Raisin in the Sun, she addresses the American dream as obtainable if you work hard and fight for it. The three main Characters have different views of the American dream, which is a conflict between them all. The Character Mama a new home of her own, Beneatha wants to go to medical school and Walter Lee sees owning business his American dream. Mama, Walter Lee and Beneatha are three strong characters in conflict, all trying to define the American dream. In the end despite Walter losing most of the money they must come together to ensure that all dreams of a better life does not die. Realizing that respect and pride for self and family is the true American Dream. What happens to a dream deferred? (Hughes) Ruth Younger says to Mama, Well, Lord knows, we ve put enough rent into this here rat trap to pay for four houses by now... Mama looks around with a smile and sarcastically agrees. Mama explains to Ruth about the day her and Big Walter moved in. They had only planned to stay in the small apartment for a year. They had dreams of saving for and buying a home of their own. Lena Younger (Mama) gives an account of the dreams that her and Big Walter had when they where a newly married couple. She is saddened by the reality that she and Big Walter s dreams never happen. Hansberry changes the mood to one of regret. Mama gives a gripping account of the kind of person Big Walter was. He was a hard working, hard headed mean man that was wild with woman. He loved his children and wanted them to do something and be something. With his dreams never coming true and him realizing they would never come true he had hopes that his children were the key to making all his dreams worthwhile. Seems like God didn t see fit to give the black man nothing but dreams But he did give us children to make then dreams seem worthwhile. Mama quoting Big Walter s view on dreams in this scene show how important it is to Mama to buy the home that her and Big Walter wanted to buy. Does it dry up? Like a Raisin in the Sun? (Hughes) Or fester like a sore And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat?(Hughes) Hansberry shows the character Walter Lee as a misogynist dreamer with no real plan of his own to ... Statics have higher throughout the years, about 40 years ago Mexicans were being treated unfairly due to poor working conditions. This unbarring situation leads to a fellow leader, Chavez to step up and build a firm foundation to led us Mexican Americans to success. Chavez had many helpers from different communities, but his own. The Mexican American organization was let down by their own church. This escalated to such an overwhelming experience. In Chavez speech, The Mexican Americans and the Church insinuates the catastrophe of the church s involvement. Chavez explains his purpose thoroughly to the audience, uses pathos and has an effective tone to allow him to build his organization. Therefore, Cesar Chavez wanted the church to support his organization, therefore his intended audience for his speech was his local church and the Mexican American Community. Cesar went through a spiritual fasting, in which he did not eat due to the hazardous chemicals in field fruit. Chavez was a Catholic and used his morals for a nonviolent protest to better working conditions for field workers. He was the leader of the Mexican American Community in Delano, Ca. He indicates how powerful a church s involvement can be: It is powerful moral and spiritual force cannot be ignored by any movement (Chavez). He believes if the church got more involved they would grow as an organization and would strive to be seen and heard. Chavez had strong hopes to fulfil his dream of making a change. The church s involvement would heavy impact his journey He wants to persuade, change their options and have a wider spectrum. In addition, Chavez wants the church to hear his opinion. He stated this matter at the Second Annual Conference in Sacramento, Ca. After his speech he gained over 6,000 people to join his fast. He could have not accomplished that without the help of an organization called California Migrant Ministry. This organization is a protestant group who helped Chavez succeed. Because their relationship grew, the ministry was right by Cesar s side during the strikes. He later on explains how supportive the ministry was, When 30 of the strikers were arrested for ... Find out more about bat infestation dangers that could harm your household, and learn what to do if you have bats living in your home. 1. Bat Guano Are you wondering how dangerous it is to have bat guano in the attic? It s one of the biggest consequences of finding bats in the home because their droppings contain several harmful viruses. A few bats in the home can slowly turn into a full blown colony, which results in a larger pile of guano in the home and around their exits and entrances. This can increase the chance of the airborne fungus Histoplasma capsulatum being carried throughout the home. You might end up inadvertently breathing it in through natural air circulation. If you find milky white stains on roofing, shingles, and brick, it s bat urine, and it requires a thorough clean up. One feature of bat anatomy includes a greasy, oily coat trail, which covers their fur in a smooth gloss. This oily residue leaves a mark around entry points. If you found rub marks around entrances, they may be slightly sticky, covered in bat hairs, and appear to be a yellow brown or black colour. Bats find any way possible to enter a home through the roof, the chimney, and even the vents. This can damage your home s integrity, in addition to creating costly repairs. For a closer look, use a ladder around the home. You ll likely see piles of guano or urine in one area, and grease stains around crevices and cracks. This is clear evidence of a bat entry and exit point. Broken shingles and loose boards make it easy to slip inside, while creating a bigger problem for you to fix. Regular home maintenance is important for reducing the likelihood of bats entering the home. 3. Water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basic topics such as government, math, language skills, important events in world history, famous pieces of art, music and literature are all a lasting body of knowledge according to Hirsch. I feel that the emotional connection that people make with a film is, in most cases, an extremely important quality that directors can emphasize on in /their work. Whether it is a realistic movie that is based off of a true story, or a children s Disney movie, anyone can experience a sense of a character s point of view. Depending on the type of film (horror, suspense, comedy, drama, etc.), this emotional connection can vary among different people. In a classic Disney film such as Bambi, children can relate to Bambi. MacEwan University, Department of Biology. Abstract: Trophic cascades are powerful forces that have a pronounced effect on ecosystems. They occur when predation causes shifts in prey dynamics that indirectly lead to enhanced survival in the next lowest trophic level. Walleye fishing bans at Lac la Biche coinciding with a restocking effort have led to a large recovery of walleye populations. The increase in populations of a high trophic level predator should cause shifts in a lower trophic level species (yellow perch) prey preferences from fish towards invertebrate prey. 576 yellow perch stomach collected from 2009 2013 by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development were sent to MacEwan University for processing/analysis. Yellow perch stomachs will be measured (dry weight, empty weight), and prey items will be removed identified and weighed. Sampling procedure differs depending on the type of prey item removed from the stomach (fish, macro and micro invertebrates). Whenever we were in a silly argument, he d step in and end the fight before it could get out of control. Of course we have arguments with him too occasionally, but he d always put his foot down and show his dominance; not to mention he s always there for me when I need him. When I joined the band, he took me under his wing and we became the closest pair of friends anyone has ever saw. He s always sticking his leg out for me and I feel as though he does too much for me. Chester? Are you awake? Mike asks me, peaking into my bunk. I nodded my head and he sighed. Can t sleep either, huh? Nope, I reply, not wanting to tell him about my nightmare. Do you want to do something? The bus is about to park in a few minutes for about a hour or so; the driver wants to take a break, He informs me. I nod my head and he takes my hand, ... • 38. Historical Accuracy Of The Power And The Glory Tanner Dean Mr. Hulings History of the Americas 3/8/15 1278 words Historical Accuracy of The Power and the Glory The Power and the Glory, by Graham Greene, is about a Mexican priest on the run from the authorities who are out to kill him and every other Roman Catholic priests they can find. The story is based on a true happening in history in Mexico back in the 1920 to 1930s. The government ran a campaign of religious persecution and hundreds of priests were rounded up and murdered, their churches destroyed. (Miller) The whole plot of The Power and the Glory happens in the 1920 to 1930s under Calles Law. Calles law is the other name for the Law for Reforming the Penal Code. To enforce the law, Calles seized church property, expelled foreign... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He could have been based off of TomГЎs Garrido Canabal. He is a committed socialist and doesn t care much for the Church. During his term he persecuted the Church, killing many priests. While he is supposedly living for the people , he puts into practice a plan of taking hostages from villages and shooting them. The lieutenant thinks that all members of the church are evil, and believes that the church is corrupt. He believes in radical social reform. He is capable of acts of some kinds of kindness, as when he gives bail to the priest to get him out of jail. (Greene) At the end of the novel, the lieutenant admits he has nothing against the priest as a man, but he must be shot. On the day of the execution, the lieutenant shows that kindness by trying to get Padre JosГ© to hear the priest s confession, but the gesture is rejected. The lieutenant thinks that he has cleared the state of the church s presence. Yet, in the last part of the novel, another Jesuit priest arrives in the town. This could be a hint from the author that the church will never be completely demolished and God could protect his people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The, The Buddhist Monastic Order The Sangha, the Buddhist monastic order, comprises Bhikku (monks), Bhikkuni (nuns), laymen, and laywomen. While the Bhikku and Bhikkuni depend upon the laywomen and men for economic support, the lay community depends on them for spiritual guidance and ritualistic practices. This well rounded mutual relationship is clearly a division not only amongst religious status, but determined by gender as well. This is quite a contradiction with the Buddhist belief that your physical self is impermanent and ultimately attachment to your illusory self will cause you suffering. The second Noble Truth states that suffering originates from our ongoing desire, a clinging to possessions, attachments, and self. Why would a religion founded in the idea of shedding attachment focus so much on gender, which is an attachment? I feel that the Buddha s hesitation in allowing women to be initially recognized in the Sangha originates from his early childhood convictions of women, fear of the Dharma becoming further compromised, and ultimately leading to the deterioration of Buddhism altogether. The Buddha s hesitations regarding women becoming monastics seem to be questionable because of the way women have responded to this discrimination even during the Buddha s lifetime. These women are evidently devoted to the ideals and teachings of Buddhism because of their ability to shed attachments and embody a fully monastic lifestyle. As they are shedding their attachments they give up their gender. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All professional sport organizations should be required to have a salary cap, it prevents owners from wasting their money on players, the salary cap keeps the league fair and competitive, the salary cap also helps the leagues and teams make money. The leagues without a salary cap often face difficulties and financial hardships. The salary cap prevents the wasting and frivolous spending of money. The Detroit Tigersstar third baseman, Miguel Cabrera signed a 300 million dollar contract for the next 10 years (Pagels). His contract is for $30 million until he is 41 years old. The Los Angeles Dodgers payroll was 234 million and the Miami Marlins payroll was 65 million in 2015 that being a difference of 169 million (Blum). With the huge gap in pay reflects in the quality of play. In 2013 Alex Rodriguezwas paid 29 million in 2013 that is 4 million more than the entire Astros roster. That is not fair at all because if a single player is deemed better than a whole team how can it be expected to be a competitive game. Having a salary cap allows for the stardom of new and upcoming teams. Before 1994 the NFL was often dominated by 4 to 5 teams now after they have implemented the salary cap and other teams have emerged and became dominant and they have even won championships. There were styles and techniques that could be found used in almost every painting from the Early Dynastic period to the New Kingdom, and the Narmer Palette is one of the earliest works discovered that depicts these traditional conventions of Egyptian art. The Narmer Palette is a ceremonial object that was made between 3000 and 2920 BCE. It was found ritually buried in a temple for the god Horus in Hierakonpolis, Egypt. It is commonly believed that it shows the unification of Lower and Upper Egypt, as on one side the King wears the crown of Lower Egypt and on the other, he wears the crown of Upper Egypt. This is the earliest discovered example of the same king wearing both crowns. There is a dispute over whether the scenes are supposed to depict an actual battle or battles that took place during the unification or if it is ceremonial and represents the unification. This work caught my attention because of how it depicts the conventions of Egyptian art. It is interesting to compare this work of art to the works created during the Middle and the New Kingdom and see the similarities in how hieratic scale is used to show importance, composite poses, the combination of both art and language, and many others. The Narmer Palette is seemingly the start to 3000 years of artistic style. Another thing that interests me about this work is that it is a palette. A palette is not something considered special in modern times, yet back then it must have had a more important meaning or been a more common everyday object for someone to care to take the time to create this piece as a palette, rather than just a work of art. The Narmer Palette is ancient work of art that demonstrates many of the conventions that were found in Egyptian art for thousands of years after the creation of this ... What Is Tacit Knowledge Approach The tacit knowledge approach highlights understanding the sorts of knowledge that individuals in an organization have, moving people to transfer knowledge within an organization and managing key individuals as knowledge creators and carriers. One of the significant capabilities of competition is managing perceived intangible assets such as knowledgein organization. Besides managing this intangible asset of enterprises, another vital issue is considered as diffusion of knowledge within the organization. Knowledge resources can be divided into at least two different components depending on the possibility of structuring and coding the knowledge. The possibility to code and the externalization of knowledge is of essential importance to the diffusion of it according to some researchers, while other again considers the codifying unnecessary or of minor importance. Digital Light On Millions Of Mirrors WRIT340 Illumin Article Heetaek Yang Prof. Warford Shine Light on Millions of Mirrors: Digital Light Processing Projector Abstract A digital light processing projector is a type of display device that uses a digital micro mirror chip. The most common application of this projector is in movie theaters. In movie theaters, films are shown by digital light processing projector, which emits light through color wheel and reflects it with micro mirror chip. The two main technologies of digital light processing projector, color wheel and micro mirror chip are engineered so precisely that it can create at least 16.7 million colors and refresh a screen 120 times per second [1]. The technology of digital light processing projector is continuously moving forward and soon it will be prevalent in home theaters. Introduction Recall our middle school memory in which we used to have one overhead projector in every classroom. A teacher writes on a transparency sheet with a colored pen and a lamp under the black box shines on the transparency sheet and the shadow of footprint is shown on the screen through the mirror that is above the black box. It was very analog in a sense that it could only project a still sketch and its color reproduction is very limited. Late 1990 s is the beginning of the digitalization and our engineering endeavor at overhead projector is Digital Light Processing projector.
