The Relationship Between Mark Mortes
Attn; Human Relations Department On February 29th 2016 An incident occurred between
Mark Mortes and myself that was aggressive in nature due to the use of my personal tools
without my prior consent. When I came in on Sunday to work on some personal projects I saw
mark working as well. I walked over to him to say hello and noticed he was using my impact and
wrenches as well is my hammer and a letter stamp set I brought from home. When I asked him
where he got the tools he said Oh well your box had been left unlocked and I needed to borrow a
few things. I explained that I didn t appreciate that he had opened my Toolbox and helped himself
to my tools. I was never asked before and had given no prior consent. He laughed and stated that

Compare And Contrast Healthcare And Us Healthcare
How is the US health care system both similar to and different from the health care systems of
Britain, Tokyo, Germany, Taiwan, and Switzerland? The US health care system has a
considerable amount of differences when compared to these countries. British health care
consists of government owned hospitals, no medical bills for citizens due to being entirely tax
paid, no medical bankruptcy, and utilization of gatekeepers to schedule appointments with
doctors. In the Japanese health care system, social insurance is employed requiring everyone to
have to have a plan, there are no scheduled appointments walk ins only, fixed prices for
procedures are decided for all hospitals by a yearly review board, and doctors don t get paid near
as much as US doctors. Some of the similarities between the systems when comparing to the US
plan include: Japanese patients paying bills however they are very cheap, privately owned
hospitals and private doctors are used in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The British are happy with the current plan, but there have been recent strikes in order to keep
some of the smaller hospitals from being closed due to lack of government funding. German and
Taiwanese citizens are also happy with their current systems. These countries all use universal,
socialized health care. On the other hand, some doctors have varying opinions. British doctors are
happy with the compensation, despite making less than US doctors, but some do say they see far
too many patients. Most Japanese doctors think that the system is good for the country, but they
get paid little compared to the other countries and far less when compared to the US; there are no
rich private doctors in Japan. Similar to Japanese doctors, German doctors also feel undervalued
and underpaid. This is mostly due to the fixed price

(Pros And Cons Of McDonalds)
The golden arches of McDonalds... Fast foods...Junk foods...Processed foods.... They all have
taken permanent residence in our lives. They re tasty and some of the best anytime snacks that
always have at least a couple of takers. No wonder they are so popular. In this essay I will be

s largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants, serving around 68 million customers daily in 119
countries).

Our lives are busy, and this fast paced lifestyle also means that we have to eat our meals faster.
Fast food is a great alternative to making food at home because all you have to do is go through a
drive thru, wait for a few minutes, and you have a meal.
The most evident advantage of fast food is that it saves time. In today s fast paced life, there is
nothing better than getting a ready meal. Besides the time an individual has to spend in the
kitchen, cooking a meal also requires one to make a trip to the supermarket to buy the
ingredients for the food. Then there is the added effort and time consumed in washing and
peeling the vegetables. All this makes eating fast food score more preferably over cooking a
meal for a busy individual. Besides time, cost saving gives fast food an edge over the meal
prepared in the kitchen. If one lives alone, then it is cheaper to buy a meal at the supermarket
instead of cooking it at home.
McDonald s, however, does have quite a few healthy choices in their menu. They also have a lot of
foods that are vegetarian.
McDonalds has a lot of other advantages:
wide rage of goods and services;
availability of goods and services. With McDonalds every person is welcome to come in and eat,
no matter what you look like or how much money you have. There is also not a certain dress code
that you have to oblige to.
they also provide many people with job opportunities. Many would say McDonalds is a great place

The Performance Of Portfolio Theory
Introduction
This report is established to illustrate the performance of portfolio by using modern portfolio
theory to make one portfolio allocation decisions per year (round) over nine years (rounds) in an
investment game and find out a reasonable strategy to meet a particular investment objective.
Specifically, it tries to figure out following questions:
1.How the investment decisions can be madeпјџ
2.The research that is undertook
3.The critical factors that influenced the decision
4.How are the results different from our expectationsпјџ
The first question is more important since it plays a vital role in the investment process.

That is to say, the manager can only get risk free asset if he is willing to be in a relatively low risk
level and he must give up monitoring how the return goes on as they only emphasis on risk and

The second conclusion refers that some risky portfolios, to some extent, indicate a poor
performance on a yearly basis. More specifically, there are still exist a phenomenon that it is
inevitable that the return on a common stock will be negative although it performed better than
bond in the long term according to the historical data. He also mention in the paper that the
influence of asset on the portfolio could play an essential role in the making decisions on whether
buying an asset or continuing to hold an asset. This result is embodied in the investment simulation
system which is expressed by the yearly news.
In the third conclusion, Gruber argues that the characteristics of the investor determines the
composition of the investor s portfolio which also means that the investor must construct an
appropriate portfolio in order to meet the client s investment objectives. In addition, he also
demonstrates that investment performance is supposed to be judged over a long period of time
like more than one year so that the result to be received is going to be more accuracy and
convinced. In other words, the long term performance data will give a brand new viewpoint in the

Five Forces Analysis of the Video Game Industry
Five Forces Analysis of the Video Game Industry
The video game industry is the economic sector involved with the development, marketing and sale
of video and computer games. It includes video game consoles, game software, handheld devices,
mobile games and online games. The video gaming industry has been growing exponentially in
recent years with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo competing for the higher profits in the market.
This essay will analyze each of the five forces acting on the industry: threat of new entrants, threat
of substitute products or services, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, and
the competitive rivalry among existing firms. Then it will be determined if the video game industry

Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have been competing for a decade with Sony dominating the
market throughout most of the years because of their superior technological products. The video
games industry faces an entirely new rivalry situation. In 2008, Sony lost its strong position on
the market, because of Nintendo s success with their dynamic Wii over Sony s high tech
PlayStation 3 and Windows Xbox 360. Although the Wii was technologically much less
advanced than PS3 and Xbox 360, the Wii s cheaper price, ease of use, innovative motion
sensitive controller, and simple but fun games, made the console a hit all demographics from 9 to
65 years old, male and female. All these factors resulted in Nintendo s Wii dominating sales and
surpassing Sony s by an impressive ratio of 2:1. With the competition in the video games industry
getting more intense, the next steps of the video game companies become more crucial for their
positioning on the market. Due to the low product differentiation, the next market leader will be the
platform provider that manages to offer an innovative gaming experience and a wider population of
buyers that include all demographics. Although the industry is being totally dominated by Nintendo
s console, the industry is still considered to show a

Banishment Censorship of Twains Huckleberry Finn Essay
Banishment Censorship of Twains Huckleberry Finn Banishment?
The novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, has received much criticism
through the years. Yet Ernest Hemingway, among other great American writers, considers this work
a great American classic. This novel addresses many social issues in the South before the Civil War,
causing some critics to find it racist or degrading to the African American culture. For this reason,
these critics often attempt to ban Huckleberry Finn, or at least censor it, taking it out of the
teaching curriculum for junior high and high school students. Analyzing Twain s major themes his
satire of racism, the cruelty of the dehumanization of Jim and the ignorance and inhumanity ... Show

At times the reader can miss the message and take the vulgar and demeaning passage offensively,
explaining the desire of some people to keep it away from their children. This action may have some
benefit for some younger students, but that should not give the allowance to completely ban the
book. In the eleventh grade, students receive the requirement to read Huckleberry Finn. By this
time, they have matured enough to handle the mature nature of this book and have the ability to
read it objectively. Also, in high school, teachers focus more on theme and interpretation of writing
instead of focusing on just the plot. This allows the teachers to explain the satire in Twain s writing,
and helps the students understand the meaning of the vulgarity in the characters.
In Twain s novel, Miss Watson, Huck Finn s caretaker, owns Jim. She discovers that selling Jim
could put $800 in her pocket, making her think of Jim merely as property. Booker T. Washington
when defending Huckleberry Finn in the North American Review,
Before one gets through with the book, one cannot fail to observe that in some way or other the
author, without making any comment and without going out of his way, has somehow succeeded
in making his readers feel a genuine respect for Jim , in spite of the ignorance he displays. I cannot

The Use of the TASER in the Police Force Essay
The Use of the TASER in the Police Force
The use of conducted energy weapons in the police force has become increasingly popular since
they were introduced only a short while ago. The TASER is claimed to be the safest and most
productive type of less lethal force in use today, with a very quick recovery rate and no long term
side effects. The TASERhas quickly taken over the harsh use of pepper spray, the brutal force of
the baton and in some cases the firearm. However, the TASER has faced massive amounts of bad
press and negative views among members of the public. Electro muscular disruption has become a
very controversial issue among society, some describing it as extremely ... Show more content on

The probes can penetrate up to two inches of clothing with pinpoint accuracy (TASER
International, n.d.). The charge is sent thru the wires and into the probes. The charge is
transmitted between the two probes, jamming sensory and motor functions, and inhibiting
muscular control (Seals, 2007). This effect continues in 5 10 second cycles each time you press
the trigger (Seals, 2007). The TASER is designed to deliver a jolt of electricity to the victim,
which results in complete loss of muscular control for a short period of time, allowing a police
officer to handcuff and gain control of the offender. The Arizona based TASER International makes
most of the TASERs used by law enforcement agencies today. TASER International claims that
since early 1998 to 2010 over 406,000 TASERs have been sold worldwide, for law enforcement
use. In 2007 TASER International produced $100.7 million in revenue, 85 percent coming from the
United States.
The Safeness of the TASER
Heath issues that are caused by the TASER are usually very minor, consisting of minor burns,
abrasions and small punctures. These wounds usually heal within 2 to 3 days and do not require
hospitalization (RCMP, 2007). Other more serious issues include the probes being shot into more
sensitive areas that include the face, throat or groin area. Secondary injuries are also a major health
concern; this happens

The Monkey King Character Changes

Grade 10
English 2A
Monkey King Character Changes Character isn t something that you were born with and can t
change... [Character is] something you must take responsibility in forming, said famous author Jim
Rohn. This is shown in American Born Chinese, written by Gene Luen Yang, with the Monkey
King. The Monkey King shows his true malleability as a character as he has drastic personality
changes throughout the course of the book. It is always unpredictable to how he will act next in
the story as he is easily influenced by others, for better and for worse. This dynamic character
changes from being a content character with high self esteem, to a depressed and negative character,
but eventually ends with an appropriate view of himself. The Monkey King starts off this book
with a high self esteem of who he is and his importance in the world. This is clear on the fourth
panel on page 9. You can tell that he views himself as an important monkey through some of the
techniques used by the author. One technique he uses is word choice. The text in the narrator
block says, He established his kingdom and monkeys from the four corners of the world flocked to
him. The author effectively used this narrator block to show how the monkey thought he was
important in this world by using powerful words such as kingdom and flocked to prove his point
and then bolding them to highlight their importance to the story. The word kingdom emphasizes his
power

Similarities Between Locke And Hobbes
Most people in the eighteenth century believed in Newtonian science. Newton established natural
laws of the universe which then led people to compile a general list of laws that were from human
behaviors. In the chapter, there were two theories that were discussed. One being liberty while the
other being political. The political contract based in natural law was influenced by two English
philosophers, Thomas Hobbesand John Locke. The two shared diverse views. For example, Hobbes
believed that human being are selfish, greedy, and warlike. On the other side of the spectrum,
Locke believed that human beings have the natural ability to justify the common good, and to be
equal. The two philosophers believed that the government should be based

`` Fun Home, By Alison Bechdel
Part graphic memoir and part psychoanalytical study, Alison Bechdel s, Fun Home, is a charming
story about a girl s search for identity within an unconventional family. The novel style
autobiography frames Alison s childhood and adolescence as she struggles with themes of sexual
confusion, gender identity, and convoluted family dynamics. These ideas are explored through the
examination of Alison s relationship with her father, and their shared passion for literature.
Early on in her childhood, Alison came to the realization that her family was different. As
individuals, and as a unit, they were just plain weird. Unlike most young girls, Alison lacked a
strong bond with her parents, most notably her father, Bruce. Because they both display introverted
personalities and had divergent gender identities, Alison and her father never devised a solid
relationship. Bruce is described as possessing generally feminine qualities having passion for fine
art and sophisticated interior design; whereas Alison claims to have become a connoisseur of
masculinity at a young age (95). Neither of them fit their stereotypical role within the family;
Bruce didn t act like a macho man dad, and Alison wasn t playing dress up with all the other little
girls. Though their personas seem compatible, the stark difference in their gender affiliations was a
source of great tension between Alison and her father. Not only does Alison approach herself and
her father as inversions of each other, but she

Examples Of Diction In Ode To A Nightingale
The imaginative speaker in John Keats s Ode to a Nightingale embarks on a journey with a
nightingale and connects his own life to the bird s. His responses to the nightingale changes as he
questions human misery, ways to escape cruel reality, and even the finality of death. Furthermore,
these dynamic responses are illustrated by the diction, imagery, and tone found in the poem while
the narrator plunges into an expedition of self discovery.
Initially, the speaker desires for wine to transition him from being burdened by the world to
experiencing the freedom and carelessness alongside the nightingale in the night sky. This is
noticeable when one pays close attention to the diction, imagery, and tone the speaker uses to
describe the flight of the nightingale compared to the misery on the surface of the earth. For
example, when describes what it would be like to join the nightingale, he sings of Dance, and
Provençal song, and sunburnt mirth! (Line 23) This claim evokes a lighthearted tone and uses a
diction that is youthful. However, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using imagery to describe the fading of the bird s song, the speaker evokes an inquisitive tone,
questioning not only the occurrence with the nightingale, but the validity of his own
imagination. He states thy plaintive anthem fades / Past the near meadows, over the still stream,
/ Up the hill side; and now tis buried deep (Lines 75 77) This imagery allows the reader to almost
hear the fading of the song, echoing into the distance. Furthermore, it traces the speaker s
complete disunion from the nightingale. Lastly, the narrator uses an inquisitive tone as he
wonders, Was it a vision, or a waking dream? Fled is that music: Do I wake or sleep? (Lines 79 80)

Wisdom In The Didascalicon
In the Didascalicon, Hugh of St. Victor stresses that the pursuit of wisdom should be held before
any other action of man. Wisdom illuminates the mind so that the mind may return to its natural
inclination of reason unique to humans. However, the human mind is infatuated with what its body
senses and therefore strays from its nature within. But with instruction the mind can bounce back
into seeking the correct goal of perfect good. Wisdom is found through pursuing this good that is
obtained through the discipline of philosophy. Furthermore, philosophy is for the exercise of the
soul that is endowed with power to investigate with human reason. Hugh of St. Victor lays out the
separate unity of the threefold power of the soul to differentiate... Show more content on

The difference between the two is dependent on the third power of the soul that Hugh of St.
Victor interprets, for it is privileged to the human soul and it is what allows them to wonder. The
first two powers are available to all living creatures. The first is nutritious to the existence of the
body itself; allowing it to sprout from birth to adulthood. The second is the judgement that is
perceived through the senses of the body. Hugh of St. Victor describes this element of the soul as
a composite and conjoint power which subsumes the first and makes it part of itself (Didascalicon
I. 3). Thus, the first two powers of the soul are inseparable within every living creature. On the
other hand, the third power of the soul feeds upon the human mind to investigate and understand
the way things are. This power of the mind allows human beings to not only explain what it sees,
but also to question and interpret the existence of things. The third power of the soul is therefore
one of two wisdoms within man. Granted the mind has the ability to pursue wisdom within itself it
is important that there is a difference between the wisdom that is a tool to obtain an easier living
standard, and the wisdom that belongs to the theory of that tool. Consequently, philosophy is the
wisdom that theorizes and is therefore the pursuit of that wisdom. Philosophy can accordingly be
applied to all actions of man to better the

The Psychological Approaches Of Psychology
There are different psychological approaches in psychology. I mentioned these in great detail in
my previous assignment; I will now discuss the different psychological approaches to health
practice. The psychological approaches are; Behaviourist, Psychodynamic, Humanistic. The
behaviourist theory is all about teaching behaviour whether it is appropriate of not when you can
see the changes in behaviour is when you know it has worked. The behavioural learning
technique is the result of conditioning. Conditioning suggests that a reward following a
desirable response acts as reinforcement and increases the likelihood that the desirable response
will be repeated. Reinforcement is the most important part of the behaviourist approach. A nurse
in a healthcare setting provides reinforcement at each step. For example, when a little girl is
having to get a blood test done and is afraid and rejecting to do so peacefully, the nurse will look
for some positive behaviour and then immediately reinforces by saying, you are such a big girl or
you did an excellent job with that! The psychodynamic theory says that behaviour is driven by
subconscious forces in which we have no control over. These unconscious forces can be accessible
through a slip of the tongue (Freudian slip) or in dreams/nightmares and signify the unconscious
truth. In a healthcare location, these subconscious forces are studied to try and attempt to make a
diagnosis. The use of the psychodynamic theory can be obliging in

This time in America, the news broadcasters have had no shortage of information to discuss on
television. These programs have many topics such as President Donald Trump, riots, Hurricane
Harvey, and other recent events. After analyzing Anderson Cooper 360, most of these discussions
involve President Trump, and negative comments towards him. CNN does not seem valid, because
they use opinions and assumption, they use words that seem unprofessional, and only the negative
views are brought up in the broadcast. During the Anderson Cooper 360 show on August 24, 2017,

Unit 1
Task 1:4:P3
Explain factors that may influence communication and interpersonal interactions in health and
social care environments.
Communication is very essential in our daily lives. In the situation given, there is a factor or a
barrier that affects in receiving non verbal communication. Samir s also first language is Urdu. As
stated Samir can read non verbal communication unless he is very close to the person, and he might
be near sighted.
There are factors that influence communication in Samir s situation. The basic problem is his
vision. One factor affecting Samir is poor lighting; even we have a perfect vision, we still need to

A speech therapist will help improve Samir s language. If he still on the stage of learning English
an interpreter should be with Samir during his school days to facilitate communication. If there is
no interpreter available, there are some ways that he can communicate with other students using
gestures, or non verbal communication, with the use of pictures and symbols would also give a big
help in conveying communication. Samir is still growing, and he will soon learn English in many
ways, through by learning and experience.
The staff in the nursery will give Samir a special treatment, not really a favouritism but to consider
Samir s situation. The staff will also show that the treatment in all students are the same but there is
a little difference to Samir and the staff will clearly explain to other students.
If ever there is a classmate who understands Samir, the Staff will assign a student to be with Samir,
or a buddy system, this would help Samir that he will be no longer withdrawn. If a buddy will
assist with him then he will be no having hard time making friends. Just go easy, start with one
friend, then another one, until he is confident enough to make friends.
The Staff will also assign for play leaders. The play leaders will encourage Samir to join the group
and to be with the group. This will be a big help boosting Samir s

The Advantage Of Swimming
Advantages of Swimming Only 56 percent of American can perform core swimming skills
(Feeney). These skills include things like jumping or stepping water over one s head, returning to
the surface to tread water or float for one minute, circling around and identifying an exit.
Swimming 25 yards to that point and then exiting the water. Than there are stories of people who
are 70 plus getting in the pool and learning to swim for the first time and how its helping them live
longer and happier lives. Swimminghas been helping people physically, mentally, and socially.
Swimming helps improve the pulmonary and Cardiovascular systems. For example, Swimming is
thus frequently recommended to asthmatics as a safe and enjoyable mean to maintain their lung
function, to increase their aerobic capacity and to improve their quality of life (Bernard). The
motion that every stroke takes, promotes controlled, deep breathing, by using the diaphragm and
therefore increases lung volume, letting your lungs more in a certain about of time. Swimming also
helps the Cardiovascular part of the body. By creating the blood vessels, it increases blood volume,
which can lower blood pressure (Alic and Cataldo). Circulation in general becomes better, because
of swimming. The water pressure on the legs and the feet moves the blood upward through the
veins of the body (Alic and Cataldo ). Swimming can benefit your pulmonary and cardiovascular

Authoritarianism
Left and Right: Two Sides of the Same Coin Throughout history, different forms of government
have been used to control and lead the masses. One of the most powerful of these forms is
Authoritarianism which often aims to consolidate rule for one individual. This is shown through
the leaders Francisco Franco and Mao Zedong, who represent both sides of the political compass,
and they both gained authority using extremely similar methods. By using these two leaders it is
possible to see how whether left or right wing, Authoritarian leaders rise and control power in
similar ways. Authoritarianism is not bound to a single ideology or group, thus is can be used by
both left and right wing politicians. An example of the later is Francisco Franco... Show more

Mao founded the Chinese Communist Party and would later establish the People s Republic of
China, ruling China from 1945 to 1976 (The Asia Society, 1984). Mao had be an avid
revolutionist, beginning at young age at around 16 (Schram, S. R. 1967), which would be
crucial later in his life. A pivotal point before the Chinese Civil War was the setting up of a
revolutionary base in 1931 by Mao. This base was forced out of Kiangsi in 1934 and Mao s
followers left with him, thus beginning the Long March which ended in 1935. After the Long
March, Mao had enough military power to overcome the Kuomintang, or Chinese Nationalists
Party, and gain control of China during the Chinese Civil War (C N Trueman, 2015). During this
civil war China received support from Soviet Russia in the form of arms and military guidance. As
Yang Kuisong, a Chinese historian from 1945, stated Soviet leader Joseph Stalin commanded
Marshal Rodion Malinovskyto give Mao Zedong most Imperial Japanese Army weapons that were

Kuomintang. After the civil war concluded, Mao began to purge the land of all Kuomintang

The company also performed impact assessments, sustainable development scorecards for capital

Designing A Application Using And.net And The...
In the past applications were monolithic, and were built on a single stack such as .Net or Java and
ran on a single server. There is no way to get around building distributed software in today s
market. Just think about the software out there today. The market consist of many different
variations of architecture tier an application may have such as an UI tier, caching tier, application
tier, and persistence tier such as SQL or table logging.
Multiple components may spread across machines today. Software will have associated

It will be wasteful to have the same execution environments even though they have different scale
characteristics. Developers also deal with test and production to move throughout the development
life cycle.
Since developers are increasingly building distributed operating systems, the way to deal with
complexity is using the concepts of containers. Containers are a native OS construct that provide
light weight isolation. In Linux there is a concept that is comprised of different sub concepts. There
are namespaces that provide isolations for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a
container as hosted on top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP
addresses. It also gets cgroups which governs resources. They make sure that not one container is
using all the resources but it shared all the way across. Each container gets a read write view such
a Union File system. These three make up the idea of a container.
Containers assist developers in making software portable. The software looks the same everywhere
you deploy and run it. Also developers will not need to install the app dependencies on user s host.
Once you have a distributed system that consist of different pasts, then the different parts can be
hosted in that container.
Docker containers not just an application but

reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), which target neurotransmitters involved in the hypothalamic
thermoreguration center, have been found to reduce both the severity and frequency of hot flashes
(Dickson, 2012). Venlafaxine, desvenlafaxine, and paroxetine have been found to provide the best
vasomotor symptom relief among these drug classes. Alendronate sodium is approved by the

These antiresorptive agents work by inhibiting osteoclast mediated bone resorption, which leads to
an indirect increase in bone mineral density (Maxwell, Maclayton, Nguyen, 2008). It is also
important to assess L.L. s vitamin D level and correct it if necessary. Vitamin D is essential for the

The Red Horses By Franz Marc Essay
The German artist Franz Marc painted the painting The Red Horses. He was born on February 8,
1880. Most of Franz Marc s influence came from his father who was a landscape artist. As a result
of this, his earliest works were painted in the naturalistic academic style. When Marc met Wassily
Kandinsky in 1910, he joined an expressionist group. Most of the colors that Franz used in his
paintings had a meaning to him or to the painting. The different aspects and the thought that Marc
put into his paintings really made them come together and become what they are now. Marc and
Kandinsky soon formed their own group, called Der Blaue Reiter. Their philosophy in painting
paintings derived from nature was that the painting itself should reflect the spiritual essence of the
object or animal as opposed to the physical embodiment. In 1912, Marc s works became more

In 1911, Germany was being industrialized very quickly, and urbanization was at an all time high.
By this time in his artistic career, Franz Marc had developed an idea of symbolism for the colors
used in his paintings. This was largely influenced by his friendship with Kandinsky. The colors
used in The Red Horses were largely naturalistic colors; there are no neon or unnatural colors. The
beginning of the 20th century in Germany was where expressionism originated. This movement
had a large impact on Marc s paintings as most of his works were of the expressionist movement.
His paintings were not focused on the physical details of the painting, but on the mood and ideas
that he was trying to relate to the viewer. Franz Marc created several paintings in the year of
1911, and a vast majority of them were related to expressionism. Marc liked nature and seemingly
normal actions that animals were doing. For example, in the painting The Red Horses, the horses
are depicted grazing, but looking deeper into the meaning of the painting, there is more to be

Christopher Nolan is considered an English American film director, screenwriter, and producer and

One of the qualification of being an auteur according to French New Wave film director and film

consistent theme that his or her influence is unmistakable in the body of his or her work. This
statement,it s like it s describing Christopher Nolan and his works, especially in the writing of
his films and how he creates a relatable world within his films and matches it with a completely
unrealistic plot. For example in his film, Inception he creates a real world in which the audience
can completely relate to, setting the bulk of the film in Paris. However the plot of the film ensures
that the Parisian location is set in a dream conscious state so it is not entirely relatable to

The Dangers Of Bottled Water
One day, someone, somewhere decided tap water wasn t enough; so they put it in a bottle. Most
people laughed at the idea of bottled water because water is almost free from the tap, why would
someone pay for it? People laughed at the idea of bottled water and asked if bottled air would be
for sale next. The plastic of the bottleslitters the planet, there isn t a dramatic taste difference,
bottled wateris more expensive, and tap water is more closely monitored ( The Story ).
Plastic bottles are one of the most common litter issues. Plastic bottles litter the land and waters
of Earth. More than half a billion bottles of water are purchased in the U.S. every week, this is
enough to circle the globe five times. Oil is used to make plastic bottles and ship them across the
world. Enough oil is used making plastic bottles each year to fuel one million cars. Then, eighty
percent of the bottles end up in landfills where they sit for thousands of years. Some of the bottles
we think are being recycled are actually just being shipped to other countries and thrown in their
backyards ( The Story ). By reducing the amount of plastic bottles used, this would clean up our
environment and preserve our Earth.

Personally I think that Los Angeles is the best place to live in among the suggested cities. I will
mention both advantages and disadvantages of living there and compare LA with another major
American cities.
To start with, I should say that apart from my own liking for this place, there are a lot of important
features of living in this city which make one s life better. First of all, the population density in LA,
which is about 3040/km2, is quite high, but in contrast with Chicago, where the density is about
4447/km2, the city is not overpopulated, and it is not as densely populated as New York, where
the density is 160/km2. So, Los Angeles is the golden mean. The weather is also very pleasant:

higher than LA s temperature, as it is 15 degrees above zero. In addition, Los Angeles has the
lowest rainfall index among the given cities, so there s not much of a chance of catching a cold,
and the biggest amount of sunny days. As you can see, the weather conditions in LA are
wonderful and definetely count as an advantage of living in Los Angeles. Furthermore, in
comparison with Miami and Dallas crime indexes, the crime index in LA is not very high. On
the other hand, it is a pity that the air quality in Los Angeles is incredibly bad as it is only 1
point out of 100, which makes the air quality index in LA the lowest, whereas Miami has 65,3
points and Dallas has 32,3. Unfortunately, the cost of living in Los Angeles is rather high,
exceeding the average USA cost 1.5 times and being only a bit lower than in New York. However,
the sales tax in LA is not very big in contrast with Chicago and NY s indexes.

Online Learning Vs. Traditional Classroom Education
Imagine waking up, eating breakfast, going to school, and completing your course work without
leaving the comfort of your home or even your pajamas. The idea of attending school online and at
personal convenience is an option that many high school and college students have difficulty
passing up. In today s education system, students have the option to attend school in a traditional
classroom setting or attend online in the comfort of their own homes. Both options have their
benefits. However, in most cases, a traditional classroom education better prepares students K 12 for
their futures by encouraging self discipline and communication between teachers and peers. Online
learning, also known as distance learning, is growing rapidly throughout the United States. The
2012 survey of online learning determined that the number of students taking at least one online
course has now surpassed 6.7 million (Online Learning Consortium, 2012). With the 2014 online
learning statistics being released on February 5, it is expected that the number of students has
grown significantly in the past two years and is only set to increase into 2015. A traditional
classroom setting exposes students to what it will be like in their future workplace. In a classroom,
students are expected to communicate face to face with their peers and teachers. Every time
students attend school in a traditional classroom, they interact with their peers and learn what it is

Identification Of Unknown Organisms And Two Eukaryotes
Identification of Unknown Organisms

September 27, 2014
Introduction
The purpose of this study is to identify four unknown organisms. The unknown organisms have
been assigned randomly to six research groups by Professor Hoffman. Each research group was
provided two eukaryotes and two prokaryotes. The unknown organisms will fall into the following
classifications: bacteria, algae, fungi, or protozoans. All living organisms are organized into one of
three domains of life, Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya.
The Domain Bacteria
Bacteria and Archaea are prokaryotic, which are mostly single celled incomplex microorganisms.
Both Bacteria and Archaea have a variety of prokaryotes classified in multiple kingdoms (Reece, et
al., Campbell Biology, 2014). There are a number of scientists who believe that Archaea cells may
be the precursor to Eukaryotic cells and that they have more in common with Eukaryotes than
Prokaryotes (Madigan, Martinko, Dunlap, 2009).
Prokaryotes are ubiquitous, successfully adapting to diverse environments as well as developing
symbiotic relationships with host organisms (Lengeler, Drews, Schlegel, 1999). Prokaryotes may
have both autotrophic and heterotrophic characteristics. A cyanobacteria is photosynthetic,
commonly called blue green algae, and may produce toxins (Crayton, 1993). Bacteria are most

How Church Affected My Life
Ever since I was a little kid, I have been going to church. Over the years, I have felt like I have
come closer and closer to God. Through God, the church has influenced me to become a better
person. They put me on the right path, helping me find the light that lead me out of the darkness.
God, and more specifically the church, has given me hope and strength. They molded me into a
person who looks forward to the future, and what I can accomplish. It is hard to believe that I will
be going off to college soon. It seems just like yesterday that I started High School. However, as
scary as the real world will be, I know I ll have my family and friends to help. I know when I begin

College as great as it is, is expensive. It can be a burden just thinking about how to pay off our
student loans. Although, one of the greatest ways of relieving this burden is through scholarships!
If I were to receive this scholarship, it would help a great deal in relieving some of the financial
need for my education. I have several siblings my parents are probably also worrying about too.
It takes a lot of money to send four people to college. But with this scholarship, I hope I can
alleviate some of the money for my brothers and sister. It would mean a lot to me if could make
my parents by not having to worry about me as much. Scholarships like this are stepping stones
for students like me trying to get into college. After I am done with college at Mississippi State, I
will happily and diligently pursue my passion as a Computer Scientist. If I can receive a
scholarship, it can begin the process of paying for the hike over the mountain of a college

Fighting The Fire Syndrome
Fighting the Fire Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is the most painful disease known
to medical science. Greater awareness of CRPS will help people who get misdiagnosed or not
diagnosed soon enough to go into recovery before symptoms become permanent. Learning what
CRPS is will help people learn to live with it while doctors learn how to treat it. In order to help
spread awareness about CRPS first people need to know what it is. It was first described by a
doctor treating soldiers with cannonball injuries in the Civil War, the syndrome has gone by many
names over the past 150 years: Causalgia in soldiers, reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome in
civilians, and today CRPS (Lynn Everly). CRPS happens when there is an injury to a... Show more

Food and Drug Administration specifically for CRPS. There are many different ways to treat
CRPS but none of the them work for all patients. All known treatments do not completely get rid
of the pain the treatments simply lessen the pain. Since there is not a treatment that works for
everyone or that eliminates all of the pain CRPS is considered an incurable disease. Common
medications used for CRPS are steroids, blood pressure medication, antidepressants,
corticosteroids, seizure medication, or opioids. Physical and occupational therapy are used to
keep strength and mobility in the affected limb(s). It is important to keep the affected limb(s)
moving because CRPS thrives on immobility. The best thing that a person can do for CRPS is to
use the affected area as much as possible. Counseling is used help combat the emotional effects of
CRPS. Spinal cord stimulation is a typical treatment. This happens by doctors surgically
implanting electrodes near the spinal cord to stop the chronic pain signals from reaching the brain.
Topical anesthetic creams are made to put on the skin of the infected area so that the treatment
absorbs into the skin where it is needed. Surgical sympathectomy is used as well but there is much
controversy over this procedure where doctors surgically destroy some of the nerves in the affected
area. Some patients and doctors believe that surgical sympathectomy only makes CRPS

Filter Feeder Essay
After years of only being able to study the impact of small filter feeders near the surface of the
water, a group of scientists in Monterey Bay, California, have invented a camera and laser
device that can record data on the effects of filter feeders deep in the ocean.[1][2][4] This device,
given the name DeepPIV (particle image velocimetry), spent June to December 2015 observing 2
species of giant larvaceans in the bay. Because larvaceans don t form their mucus house in a lab,
this was the first time scientists have gained insight as to how these mucus membranes play a role
in oceanic carboncycling.
Each day, giant larvaceans create a filmy membrane up to a meter across that encases the creature.
By beating their tail, the larvaceans then pump ocean water into the membrane, which acts as a
filter that catches nutrients in the water that the larvaceans can eat. When the membrane gets too
clogged, the larvaceans discard it, and it quickly sinks to the ocean floor, carrying carbon with it.
Because of the speed at which the mucus sinks, the carbon containing pellets of animal excrement
bypass animals and drops to depths that hold carbon for long expanses of time. As Sari Giering, a ...

animals may be our best bet. After all, discovered about the same time as this were caterpillars that
are able to digest plastic. In both cases, scientists may be able to harness animal capabilities to
protect the environment. Unfortunately, DeepPIV only collected flow measurement from 24
creatures.[1] Furthermore, only the footage of 10 giant larvaceans was analyzed.[4] Although more
research is needed, I believe these discoveries could lead to more breakthroughs in the fields of
climate science and oceanography, and possibly even help us find ways of protecting oceans from
increased acidity and

The Endocrine System Is Made Up Of Cells And Glands That
The endocrine system is made up of cells and glands that make hormones and release them into
the blood. These hormones help to regulate reproduction, sleep, metabolism, cell growth, and
development. The word endocrine is a derivative from two Greek words: endo , which means
within or inside, and krinis , which is a verb for secrete. In the endocrine system, there are different
glands that each excrete different hormones. All of these glands are ductless, and secrete their
hormones straight into the blood stream. Some of these glands are the pineal gland, the thyroid and
parathyroid glands, the pancreas, and the thymus. These glands are located in various parts of the
body. This systems works with other systems to maintain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The pituitary gland is also known as the master gland, as its hormones control other glands. It
produces growth hormone, which helps the body grow its tissue and bone, and also helps with
taking care of the body s nutrients, prolactin, which is a milk producing hormone in females,
thyrotropin, which sends signals to the thyroid to produce hormones, and corticotropin, which also
sends signals to produce hormones, but to the adrenal gland. The hypothalamus produces anti
diuretic hormone, which raises up the water absorption in the blood in the kidneys, oxytocin, which
aids in the contraction of uterine smooth muscles and contraction of mammary gland cells, or
lactation. The pineal gland produces one hormone, called melatonin. This hormone is dedicated to
sense light. The islet cells in the pancreas are shared by both the digestive system and endocrine
system. The pancreas produces insulin, which helps the body to use and absorb glucose, and
glucagon, which help the other hormone, insulin, to keep a normal blood glucose level. The
kidneys are both included in the urinary system and the endocrine system. On top of the kidneys
are the adrenal glands, which produce the hormones hydrocortisone and corticosterone.
Hydrocortisone keeps track of how the fats, carbohydrates, and protein turn into energy for the
body. Corticosterone works with the other hormone, hydrocortisone to maintain immune system

The Constructivist View Of Learning
In any classroom, the constructivist view of learning can point towards a number of different
teaching methods. The constructivist view usually means encouraging students to use active
techniques such as experiments, real world problem solving, to create more knowledge for
themselves and then for the students to reflect and talk about what they did and how their
understanding changed. (Educational Broadcasting Corporation, 2004). This view of learninggoes
hand in hand with an agriculture educational classroom that bases their curriculum around the FFA
program and the three circle model: instruction, supervised agricultural experience and student
leadership organizations. The FFA motto is Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live,
Living to Serve. (National FFA Organization , 2014)
Constructivism refers to the idea that learners construct knowledge for themselves and that each
learner individually and socially construct meaning as he or she learns. In the views of
constructivism, there is no such thing as knowledge independent of the knower, but only
knowledge that the student constructs for themselves as they learn. According the constructivist
theory, learning is not understanding the true nature of things, nor is it remembering dimly
perceived perfect ideas perfect ideas, but rather a personal and social construction of meaning out
of the bewildering array of sensations which have no order or structure besides the explanations
which educators fabricate

The Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster Essay
1.0Introduction
Seventy three seconds into its 10th flight, on January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger broke
apart over the Atlantic Ocean, killing the seven crew members on board [1]. The Challenger was
the second space shuttle constructed by NASA and had completed nine successful missions prior
to the disaster. Following the accident, the shuttle program was suspended for 32 months as
President Ronald Regan appointed a Commission, chaired by William P. Rogers and known as the
Rogers Commission, to investigate the cause of the accident [1].

disaster, analysis of the professional ethical behaviours and responsibilities that were ... Show more

At the time, NASA s goal was two reach two launches per month, a goal that well exceeded the
budget and training facilities available [2].
The night before the launch, a teleconference between Thiokol and NASA was held to address the
concerns regarding the performance of the SRB O ring seal in cold weather. Thiokol recommended
that the launch be postponed since there was no data available for temperatures below 53В°F [2].
After internal discussions in the Thiokol group, senior management eventually endorsed the launch,
recommending it to proceed, reversing their original decision [2]. Rockwell, the shuttle s primary
contractor, did not support the launch due to the possibility of ice leaving the structure and
damaging the thermal shield tiles during takeoff. Their concerns were relayed to NASA, but in
such a way that NASA chose to proceed with the launch [2]. Though this was eventually determined
to be a non issue in the Challenger launch, the true nature of the problems that can occur when an
object strikes the shuttle during takeoff would not be learned until 2003, when the space shuttle
Columbia disintegrated on re entry due to damage of a heat shield tile that occurred during takeoff
[2] [3].
Despite the concerns raised, the Challenger was launched on January 28, 1986 [4]. Seventy three
seconds after takeoff, the shuttle broke apart after the O ring seal failed causing

The Core Of Android Architecture
It is the core of Android architecture that forms the foundation of Android. Linux kernel includes
hardware drivers, power management, memory management, process management and binder
driver, which provides all the fundamental services needed by the system. Although it is called
Linux kernel, it is not a standard Linux kernel; Google has customized it for Android devices. The
main difference between them is the binder driver, which is an Android specific inter process
communicationmechanism that enables one Android process to call a procedure in another
Android process. Another major difference is the ashmem module, which is an Android version of
shared memory allocator, similar to Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) shm but with a
simpler file based API. And also the Power Manager has been enhanced to save battery, which is
critical for smartphones.
Libraries
On top of Linux kernel are Libraries, which provide services written in native language like C
and C++. It contains a long list of middle wares that include SQLite, WebKit, SSL, Media, C
runtime library. SQLite is responsible for database, WebKit is for browser support, SSL is used to
secure network transmissions.
Android Runtime
This layer contains core libraries and Dalvik Virtual Machine(DVM), which are needed to run
Android applications. DVM is the Android implementation of Java Virtual Machine (JVM), which
optimized for mobile apps for less memory consumption and better performance. DVM was

Vagueness In Dracula
TO BELONG OR NOT TO BELONG
Throughout the gothic history, the vagueness between the outside and inside has existed
permanently, which is considered as one of the main features of gothic novels. According to this,
the development of the differentiation between outside and inside has encountered two periods,
using vampire gothic novels as examples. Firstly, using the novel Dracula , Count Dracula is
defined as the outside , which still mirrors some human tendency and instinct. Secondly, using
Interview with the vampire , the introspective vampire like Louis is considered as the inside ,
which symbolizes modern consciousness however lacking in the outside . Ultimately the outside

For instance, Dracula satisfies its needs for food and sexual intercourse simultaneously, which
corresponds with the vampire s survival instinct. Similarly, human beings also have such kinds
of needs for self preservation, yet we separate the needs for sexuality and eating individually. In
addition, Dracula has to marry outside for reproduction due to a physical barrier, which is also
reflected in the human being s instinctive desire for foreign women. However, the imperialism of
Dracula, reflecting the Outside aspects of Dracula is still observable. Dracula serves as a superior
figure who possesses tremendous seduction power to the women who originally belongs to the
good men s group and turns them into the opposite of their original group. The statement of Mina
Leagued with your enemy against you. (Stocker 337) quite voices the anxiety and fear of the good
men s group. Also, the image of the women after being transformed into vampires encounters an
entire change. The purity of women is forever lost and instead they turn voluptuous and demanding
and thus become otherness, which deepens the fears of losing masculinity of the Good men s
group. With all the fears ascribing to the superior potency of Dracula,

Reflection Of A Symphony Orchestra
On November 29, 2017, during a Wednesday night, I attended a Symphony Orchestra. The
performance was played by the University of Houston Symphony Orchestra in Moores Opera
House at the Moores School of Music. The performance was conducted by two different
conductors. The first conductor was Carlos Guillermo Jung, he conducted the first piece which was
a piece by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovskycalled Fantasy which is a Romeo and Juliet Overture. The next
conductor was Franz Anton Krager, he conducted the Cello ConcertoNo. 1 in A Minor, Op. 33, by
Camille Saint Saens which also included Vagram Saradjian, who was a guest cellist performer. The
next piece conducted by Fran Anton Krager was the SymphonyNo.5 in C minor, Op. 67 by Ludwig
van Beethoven. The performance overall was over two hours, but was very entertaining and
captured my attention the whole time. The first piece that was conducted by Jung called Romeo
and Juliet Overture Fantasy, which is an orchestral work composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Tchaikovsky was one of the top composers during the Romantic era who was inspired by the
work of Shakespeare. The overture outlines the plot of Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet. The
genre of the piece is overture, the form is sonata, and the meter is duple or to some people, it may
seem like the meter is quadruple. Throughout the performance, some themes were mostly led by the
woodwind section, more specifically the clarinets and bassoons, and another theme was led by

Essay On Territorial Issues In New France
Yes. New France was doomed to fail. The issues in New France from 1608 to 1663 divide up
into three categories; Economic issues, Territorial Issues and Political Issues. Economic issues are
mainly based on the fur trade, Territorial Issues are mainly based on the trading posts, colonies
and the land wars between the English and Political Issues are mainly established on the lack of
people in New Francecompared to the English. French presence in North America was marked by
economic exchanges with Aboriginal people, but also by conflicts, as the French attempted to
control this vast territory. Every event above started with Samuel de Champlain bringing France
back to the Americas. Although New France was one of the first European colonies,... Show more

Even though New France had big territory, they didn t have enough people to fill it up with. The
English population was three times bigger than the French population. This meant that the
English had a bigger, stronger army. The French population was favored by the trading
companies, merchants and the coureurs des bois, they mainly consisted of men and a few
immigrants whereas the English was favored by farmers, religious orders, soldiers, French
government administrators and they had a growing population which was evenly divided between
men and women, immigration being encouraged. Since the church had a lot of power, being
favored by religious was important. After, in 1615, the first French missionaries came to Quebec
in large numbers and they began to convert the Natives into Christianity. Later on in 1634,
Champlain sent Laviolette to set up a post further west. The post was called Trois Riviere. It
became a very important fur trading post. Two more missionaries were sent there to convert
Natives to Christianity. The French government wanted a strong colony, but the post at Quebec
could not defend itself from invading fleet. Under Cardinal Richelieu, chief minister to the king of
France, a new company, the Company of 100 Associates was formed in 1627 and given a trade
monopoly and title to French possessions in the New World. In return, the company promised to

The exhibit is located at Texas State University, San Marcos and I visited on December 1st. The
titles of the work I chose was The Photographer, Getting Even, Carousel Bartender, Chandelier and
Alex s Music Room. The year this work was published was in 2003. The art shown is
photographs in black and white and is hand tinted with color oils. The subject of this art is to
showcase events in everyday life. By expressing it emotional and creativity by capturing the
things many people wouldn t think that are a realty Paint of the artwork is really has a lot of
going on outside of the main attraction. In Alex s music s room the first thing that captures your
eyes is all the red in the painting and the violins, harper and the cymbal on the floor. When you
look closer into the painting you can see crazy details. Like the lions laying around in the music
room and the candles in the pieced looks as if it s a person not really a candle. The decoration on
the chandelier looks like there is really gems hanging in the art. In the art piece Getting Even its isn
t as detailed but it makes you wonder how did Schenck catch this moment on his camera. The
painting its taking place in some field of flowers. It s late at night and it looks like a man is about
to kill another person but the other human being is just standing there. I guess the person is getting
even by homicide since that s the name of the painting. The painting doesn t really focus on the
people in it. It focusses more on the scenery because its more emphasized in the painting. The
people are more a shadow and in the background I would say. My favorite painting out of the five
would have to the be the Carousel Bartender you can see it in my expression. When I was looking

Personal Narrative On Clarity
Clarity Since I was merely six years old other people have controlled my life. It started with a
visit to the doctors where my parents were told that I would never have a normal life, were I
would never be able to socialize, were I would never feel and that I had autism. Now for the first
two to three years after my parents believed what the doctor had said was true. They kept taking
me to groups to try and get me interacting with people but when they saw that their attempts were
failing and all I ever did was sit in the corner and build crazy little things out of Lego and clay
whilst the others were listening to story s or playing together. And so I went through my life
believing I would do nothing and be nothing. After I got through primary it came to secondary
now that was hell. Being quiet and not really that threatening despite my size I was viewed as an
easy target and I was I never fought back and I never told anyone, but I kept on going and came
out the end a changed person my autism subdued and under control. Lots of people at this point
kept on say that I have been cured and that I must have not even had it in the first place but in
reality I had simply mastered it and gained control over it. So now moving form secondary I was
prepared to take the next leap into the future I was going to college. I applied for a course in
media and went off the start my new life. At least that s what I wanted to happen. When I started I

Irony In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
Kurt Vonnegut crafts the dystopian message of equality within Harrison Bergeron through the
use of ironic and absurd language. Beginning in the first lines of the story, it jumps right in with,
The year was 2081, and everybody was finally equal, (Vonnegut,34). He seems to emphasize on
the irony of equality by drawing attention to the word finally . It s quite peculiar or absurd how
things would be if everyone was equal and that s what Vonnegut proves in multiple points in the
story such as, Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to
keep people like George from taking unfair advantages of their brains, (34). This man named

The irony behind it is that if everyone is the same in intelligence and capabilities who can
enforce the laws, one person is in fact higher than everyone else and that is the Handicapper
General, Diana Moon Glampers. George and Hazel s son, Harrison, was put in jail by Diana
herself for his uniqueness and wants to overthrow the government. Later on in the passage
Hazel states, I don t care if you re not equal to me for awhile, (36). This is quite absurd and in
ways this thought of equality has been embedded into their brains as if more of a law and
customs than wants. This also reflects the irony which later on in the story their son, Harrison
escapes prison and breaks all his handicaps. The ballerina describes Harrison in a very absurd
and ironic way, she states, ... He is a genius and an athlete, is under handicapped, and should be
regarded as extremely dangerous, (37). Mind you Harrison is only 14, he is in fact almost a
prodigy and his intelligence is a threat to the government but to enforce equality he is considered a

The Relationship Between Mark Mortes Attn; Human Relations Department On February 29th 2016 An incident occurred between Mark Mortes and myself that was aggressive in nature due to the use of my personal tools without my prior consent. When I came in on Sunday to work on some personal projects I saw mark working as well. I walked over to him to say hello and noticed he was using my impact and wrenches as well is my hammer and a letter stamp set I brought from home. When I asked him where he got the tools he said Oh well your box had been left unlocked and I needed to borrow a few things. • 3. Compare And Contrast Healthcare And Us Healthcare How is the US health care system both similar to and different from the health care systems of Britain, Tokyo, Germany, Taiwan, and Switzerland? The US health care system has a considerable amount of differences when compared to these countries. British health care consists of government owned hospitals, no medical bills for citizens due to being entirely tax paid, no medical bankruptcy, and utilization of gatekeepers to schedule appointments with doctors. In the Japanese health care system, social insurance is employed requiring everyone to have to have a plan, there are no scheduled appointments walk ins only, fixed prices for procedures are decided for all hospitals by a yearly review board, and doctors don t get paid near as much as US doctors. Some of the similarities between the systems when comparing to the US plan include: Japanese patients paying bills however they are very cheap, privately owned hospitals and private doctors are used in the... The British are happy with the current plan, but there have been recent strikes in order to keep some of the smaller hospitals from being closed due to lack of government funding. German and Taiwanese citizens are also happy with their current systems. These countries all use universal, socialized health care. On the other hand, some doctors have varying opinions. British doctors are happy with the compensation, despite making less than US doctors, but some do say they see far too many patients. Most Japanese doctors think that the system is good for the country, but they get paid little compared to the other countries and far less when compared to the US; there are no rich private doctors in Japan. Similar to Japanese doctors, German doctors also feel undervalued and underpaid. This is mostly due to the fixed price ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our lives are busy, and this fast paced lifestyle also means that we have to eat our meals faster. Fast food is a great alternative to making food at home because all you have to do is go through a drive thru, wait for a few minutes, and you have a meal. The most evident advantage of fast food is that it saves time. In today s fast paced life, there is nothing better than getting a ready meal. Besides the time an individual has to spend in the kitchen, cooking a meal also requires one to make a trip to the supermarket to buy the ingredients for the food. Then there is the added effort and time consumed in washing and peeling the vegetables. All this makes eating fast food score more preferably over cooking a meal for a busy individual. Besides time, cost saving gives fast food an edge over the meal prepared in the kitchen. If one lives alone, then it is cheaper to buy a meal at the supermarket instead of cooking it at home. McDonald s, however, does have quite a few healthy choices in their menu. They also have a lot of foods that are vegetarian. McDonalds has a lot of other advantages: wide rage of goods and services; availability of goods and services. With McDonalds every person is welcome to come in and eat, no matter what you look like or how much money you have. There is also not a certain dress code that you have to oblige to. they also provide many people with job opportunities. Many would say McDonalds is a great place to learn ... Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have been competing for a decade with Sony dominating the market throughout most of the years because of their superior technological products. The video games industry faces an entirely new rivalry situation. In 2008, Sony lost its strong position on the market, because of Nintendo s success with their dynamic Wii over Sony s high tech PlayStation 3 and Windows Xbox 360. Although the Wii was technologically much less advanced than PS3 and Xbox 360, the Wii s cheaper price, ease of use, innovative motion sensitive controller, and simple but fun games, made the console a hit all demographics from 9 to 65 years old, male and female. All these factors resulted in Nintendo s Wii dominating sales and surpassing Sony s by an impressive ratio of 2:1. With the competition in the video games industry getting more intense, the next steps of the video game companies become more crucial for their positioning on the market. Due to the low product differentiation, the next market leader will be the platform provider that manages to offer an innovative gaming experience and a wider population of buyers that include all demographics. • 7. Banishment Censorship of Twains Huckleberry Finn Essay Banishment Censorship of Twains Huckleberry Finn Banishment? The novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, has received much criticism through the years. Yet Ernest Hemingway, among other great American writers, considers this work a great American classic. This novel addresses many social issues in the South before the Civil War, causing some critics to find it racist or degrading to the African American culture. For this reason, these critics often attempt to ban Huckleberry Finn, or at least censor it, taking it out of the teaching curriculum for junior high and high school students. At times the reader can miss the message and take the vulgar and demeaning passage offensively, explaining the desire of some people to keep it away from their children. This action may have some benefit for some younger students, but that should not give the allowance to completely ban the book. In the eleventh grade, students receive the requirement to read Huckleberry Finn. By this time, they have matured enough to handle the mature nature of this book and have the ability to read it objectively. Also, in high school, teachers focus more on theme and interpretation of writing instead of focusing on just the plot. This allows the teachers to explain the satire in Twain s writing, and helps the students understand the meaning of the vulgarity in the characters. In Twain s novel, Miss Watson, Huck Finn s caretaker, owns Jim. She discovers that selling Jim could put $800 in her pocket, making her think of Jim merely as property. Booker T. Washington when defending Huckleberry Finn in the North American Review, Before one gets through with the book, one cannot fail to observe that in some way or other the author, without making any comment and without going out of his way, has somehow succeeded in making his readers feel a genuine respect for Jim , in spite of the ignorance he displays. This effect continues in 5 10 second cycles each time you press the trigger (Seals, 2007). The TASER is designed to deliver a jolt of electricity to the victim, which results in complete loss of muscular control for a short period of time, allowing a police officer to handcuff and gain control of the offender. [Character is] something you must take responsibility in forming, said famous author Jim Rohn. This is shown in American Born Chinese, written by Gene Luen Yang, with the Monkey King. The Monkey King shows his true malleability as a character as he has drastic personality changes throughout the course of the book. It is always unpredictable to how he will act next in the story as he is easily influenced by others, for better and for worse. This dynamic character changes from being a content character with high self esteem, to a depressed and negative character, but eventually ends with an appropriate view of himself. The Monkey King starts off this book with a high self esteem of who he is and his importance in the world. This is clear on the fourth panel on page 9. You can tell that he views himself as an important monkey through some of the techniques used by the author. One technique he uses is word choice. The text in the narrator block says, He established his kingdom and monkeys from the four corners of the world flocked to him. The author effectively used this narrator block to show how the monkey thought he was important in this world by using powerful words such as kingdom and flocked to prove his point and then bolding them to highlight their importance to the story. The word kingdom emphasizes his power ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. `` Fun Home, By Alison Bechdel Part graphic memoir and part psychoanalytical study, Alison Bechdel s, Fun Home, is a charming story about a girl s search for identity within an unconventional family. The novel style autobiography frames Alison s childhood and adolescence as she struggles with themes of sexual confusion, gender identity, and convoluted family dynamics. These ideas are explored through the examination of Alison s relationship with her father, and their shared passion for literature. Early on in her childhood, Alison came to the realization that her family was different. As individuals, and as a unit, they were just plain weird. Unlike most young girls, Alison lacked a strong bond with her parents, most notably her father, Bruce. Because they both display introverted personalities and had divergent gender identities, Alison and her father never devised a solid relationship. Bruce is described as possessing generally feminine qualities having passion for fine art and sophisticated interior design; whereas Alison claims to have become a connoisseur of masculinity at a young age (95). Neither of them fit their stereotypical role within the family; Bruce didn t act like a macho man dad, and Alison wasn t playing dress up with all the other little girls. Though their personas seem compatible, the stark difference in their gender affiliations was a source of great tension between Alison and her father. His responses to the nightingale changes as he questions human misery, ways to escape cruel reality, and even the finality of death. Furthermore, these dynamic responses are illustrated by the diction, imagery, and tone found in the poem while the narrator plunges into an expedition of self discovery. Initially, the speaker desires for wine to transition him from being burdened by the world to experiencing the freedom and carelessness alongside the nightingale in the night sky. This is noticeable when one pays close attention to the diction, imagery, and tone the speaker uses to describe the flight of the nightingale compared to the misery on the surface of the earth. Wisdom illuminates the mind so that the mind may return to its natural inclination of reason unique to humans. However, the human mind is infatuated with what its body senses and therefore strays from its nature within. But with instruction the mind can bounce back into seeking the correct goal of perfect good. Wisdom is found through pursuing this good that is obtained through the discipline of philosophy. Furthermore, philosophy is for the exercise of the soul that is endowed with power to investigate with human reason. The difference between the two is dependent on the third power of the soul that Hugh of St. Victor interprets, for it is privileged to the human soul and it is what allows them to wonder. The first two powers are available to all living creatures. The first is nutritious to the existence of the body itself; allowing it to sprout from birth to adulthood. The second is the judgement that is perceived through the senses of the body. Hugh of St. Victor describes this element of the soul as a composite and conjoint power which subsumes the first and makes it part of itself (Didascalicon I. 3). Thus, the first two powers of the soul are inseparable within every living creature. On the other hand, the third power of the soul feeds upon the human mind to investigate and understand the way things are. This power of the mind allows human beings to not only explain what it sees, but also to question and interpret the existence of things. The third power of the soul is therefore one of two wisdoms within man. Granted the mind has the ability to pursue wisdom within itself it is important that there is a difference between the wisdom that is a tool to obtain an easier living standard, and the wisdom that belongs to the theory of that tool. Consequently, philosophy is the wisdom that theorizes and is therefore the pursuit of that wisdom. Philosophy can accordingly be applied to all actions of man to better the ... • 17. The Psychological Approaches Of Psychology There are different psychological approaches in psychology. I mentioned these in great detail in my previous assignment; I will now discuss the different psychological approaches to health practice. The psychological approaches are; Behaviourist, Psychodynamic, Humanistic. The behaviourist theory is all about teaching behaviour whether it is appropriate of not when you can see the changes in behaviour is when you know it has worked. The behavioural learning technique is the result of conditioning. Conditioning suggests that a reward following a desirable response acts as reinforcement and increases the likelihood that the desirable response will be repeated. Reinforcement is the most important part of the behaviourist approach. A nurse in a healthcare setting provides reinforcement at each step. For example, when a little girl is having to get a blood test done and is afraid and rejecting to do so peacefully, the nurse will look for some positive behaviour and then immediately reinforces by saying, you are such a big girl or you did an excellent job with that! The psychodynamic theory says that behaviour is driven by subconscious forces in which we have no control over. These unconscious forces can be accessible through a slip of the tongue (Freudian slip) or in dreams/nightmares and signify the unconscious truth. In a healthcare location, these subconscious forces are studied to try and attempt to make a diagnosis. The use of the psychodynamic theory can be obliging in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These programs have many topics such as President Donald Trump, riots, Hurricane Harvey, and other recent events. After analyzing Anderson Cooper 360, most of these discussions involve President Trump, and negative comments towards him. CNN does not seem valid, because they use opinions and assumption, they use words that seem unprofessional, and only the negative views are brought up in the broadcast. During the Anderson Cooper 360 show on August 24, 2017, Trump was the main topic throughout the show. In the begining, Anderson Coopere brought up Trump making Mexico pay for a boarder wall. Most of Franz Marc s influence came from his father who was a landscape artist. As a result of this, his earliest works were painted in the naturalistic academic style. When Marc met Wassily Kandinsky in 1910, he joined an expressionist group. Most of the colors that Franz used in his paintings had a meaning to him or to the painting. The different aspects and the thought that Marc put into his paintings really made them come together and become what they are now. On the other hand, it is a pity that the air quality in Los Angeles is incredibly bad as it is only 1 point out of 100, which makes the air quality index in LA the lowest, whereas Miami has 65,3 points and Dallas has 32,3. Unfortunately, the cost of living in Los Angeles is rather high, exceeding the average USA cost 1.5 times and being only a bit lower than in New York. • 37. Online Learning Vs. Traditional Classroom Education Imagine waking up, eating breakfast, going to school, and completing your course work without leaving the comfort of your home or even your pajamas. The idea of attending school online and at personal convenience is an option that many high school and college students have difficulty passing up. In today s education system, students have the option to attend school in a traditional classroom setting or attend online in the comfort of their own homes. Both options have their benefits. However, in most cases, a traditional classroom education better prepares students K 12 for their futures by encouraging self discipline and communication between teachers and peers. Online learning, also known as distance learning, is growing rapidly throughout the United States. The 2012 survey of online learning determined that the number of students taking at least one online course has now surpassed 6.7 million (Online Learning Consortium, 2012). With the 2014 online learning statistics being released on February 5, it is expected that the number of students has grown significantly in the past two years and is only set to increase into 2015. A traditional classroom setting exposes students to what it will be like in their future workplace. In a classroom, students are expected to communicate face to face with their peers and teachers. Every time students attend school in a traditional classroom, they interact with their peers and learn what it is like to work amongst people that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the movie, you will see Andy Dufresne, Ellis Boyd Redding (or known as Red,) Boggs, Warden Norton, Brooks Halten, and Tommy as very important characters. Identification Of Unknown Organisms And Two Eukaryotes Identification of Unknown Organisms Benjamin Nibarger Professor Hoffman Monday 11:15 AM Group Members Jamie Jerome, Natalie Perez, Ruth Pinzon September 27, 2014 Introduction The purpose of this study is to identify four unknown organisms. The unknown organisms have been assigned randomly to six research groups by Professor Hoffman. Each research group was provided two eukaryotes and two prokaryotes. The unknown organisms will fall into the following classifications: bacteria, algae, fungi, or protozoans. All living organisms are organized into one of three domains of life, Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya. The Domain Bacteria Bacteria and Archaea are prokaryotic, which are mostly single celled incomplex microorganisms. Both Bacteria and Archaea have a variety of prokaryotes classified in multiple kingdoms (Reece, et al., Campbell Biology, 2014). There are a number of scientists who believe that Archaea cells may be the precursor to Eukaryotic cells and that they have more in common with Eukaryotes than Prokaryotes (Madigan, Martinko, Dunlap, 2009). Prokaryotes are ubiquitous, successfully adapting to diverse environments as well as developing symbiotic relationships with host organisms (Lengeler, Drews, Schlegel, 1999). Prokaryotes may have both autotrophic and heterotrophic characteristics. A cyanobacteria is photosynthetic, commonly called blue green algae, and may produce toxins (Crayton, 1993). Filter Feeder Essay After years of only being able to study the impact of small filter feeders near the surface of the water, a group of scientists in Monterey Bay, California, have invented a camera and laser device that can record data on the effects of filter feeders deep in the ocean.[1][2][4] This device, given the name DeepPIV (particle image velocimetry), spent June to December 2015 observing 2 species of giant larvaceans in the bay. Because larvaceans don t form their mucus house in a lab, this was the first time scientists have gained insight as to how these mucus membranes play a role in oceanic carboncycling. Each day, giant larvaceans create a filmy membrane up to a meter across that encases the creature. By beating their tail, the larvaceans then pump ocean water into the membrane, which acts as a filter that catches nutrients in the water that the larvaceans can eat. When the membrane gets too clogged, the larvaceans discard it, and it quickly sinks to the ocean floor, carrying carbon with it. Because of the speed at which the mucus sinks, the carbon containing pellets of animal excrement bypass animals and drops to depths that hold carbon for long expanses of time. As Sari Giering, a ... The constructivist view usually means encouraging students to use active techniques such as experiments, real world problem solving, to create more knowledge for themselves and then for the students to reflect and talk about what they did and how their understanding changed. (Educational Broadcasting Corporation, 2004). This view of learninggoes hand in hand with an agriculture educational classroom that bases their curriculum around the FFA program and the three circle model: instruction, supervised agricultural experience and student leadership organizations. The FFA motto is Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve. (National FFA Organization , 2014) Constructivism refers to the idea that learners construct knowledge for themselves and that each learner individually and socially construct meaning as he or she learns. In the views of constructivism, there is no such thing as knowledge independent of the knower, but only knowledge that the student constructs for themselves as they learn. According the constructivist theory, learning is not understanding the true nature of things, nor is it remembering dimly perceived perfect ideas perfect ideas, but rather a personal and social construction of meaning out of the bewildering array of sensations which have no order or structure besides the explanations which educators fabricate ...
