Wind In The Willows Map Analysis
On page 30, we see the map that shows how limited the scope of her father s life was. The map is
drawn with an internal circular frame that simulates the effect of a magnifying class, as if pulling
the locations (which are likely truly separated by several miles) that much closer together. The
text box overlaying this image, resting inside the scope of the magnifying glass, informs the
reader that this impression of proximity is simultaneously misleading, and accurate. So far, we
have only seen it as misleading. However, if we compare the image produced by this map to the
very next panel, we see an image that zooms in even closer and demonstrates how reluctant his
family is to stray from their small town. The impression we are left with is that their home life is
somewhat suffocating, especially as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing so, Bechdel has linked her father to Mr. Toad, whom she calls a charming sociopath
(Bechdel 130). This link between Mr. Toad and Bruce Bechdel is significant in that Wind in the
Willows map that follows because of the connection it renders. New meaning is found in the
map as Alison draws parallels between the maps of both her home landscape and the setting of
the children s novels. The image of Mr. Toad, perhaps still with the thought of Bruce linked to
him, speeding towards the edge of the map in still life, also functions as a metaphor for her
father s existence as he too became disenchanted (147). Three people were killed in a car crash on
a highway that summer, the same highway her father would die on nine years later, and the impact
of this event clearly has an influenced the way Alison processed the information. Mr. Toad, the boy
around her age who died, and her father all become linked together in memory and association, as
Alison processes their relationship to her father s

Paul s Theory Of Paul
As long as Paul could remember he had his giant glasses on and was told he couldn t see without
them. But even though Paul can see fine without them. Paul, unfortunately, deals with this on a day
to day basis. We discover who Paul is and how significant events changed him. Paul also
experiences switching schools. We see how Paul sees the world and his perspective on certain
events.
In the beginning of Tangerine, Paul and his family move houses from Houston, Texas to Tangerine
County, Florida. This is a big change for everyone in the family which means they all have different
thoughts.

him stay on the team (Bloor 63). This shows that Paul wasn t brave enough to go ask another
teacher to prove he could stay. Lastly, Paul was a coward. On page 86, it says I m still afraid of
Erik . This shows that Paul is afraid of Erik and is scared of what he might do.
After the sinkhole, Paul is a changed person. He now realizes he can play soccer for Tangerine
Middle School. On page 94 it says The heavens had opened up for me . This shows that Paul is
now happy because he can play soccer at Tangerine Middle School. Paul is also braver now. On
page 82 it says Joey and I dug our heels into the mud about halfway down toward the bottom of
the hole . This shows that Paul is being braver and helping people get out of the sinkhole. Lastly,
Paul isn t as much of a coward anymore. On page 86, it says But today I wasn t a coward and that
counts for something . This shows that Paul isn t as much of coward after the sinkhole.
As you can see Paul changes from the sinkhole. After the sinkhole Paul realizes he can play soccer,
he s braver and isn t as much of a coward.
In the beginning of Tangerine , Paul is at Lake Windsor. Paul eventually decides to switch schools
to Tangerine Middle School so he can play soccer. Both schools give Paul a very different

Need Of The Study Of Women
NEED OF THE STUDY
Women owned enterprises contribute 3.09 percent of industrial output and employ over 8 million
people. Approximately, 78 percent of women enterprises belong to the services sector. Women
entrepreneurship is largely skewed towards smaller sized firms, as almost 98 percent of women
owned businesses are micro enterprises. As with the broader MSME sector, access to formal
finance is a key barrier to the growth of women owned businesses, leading to over 90 percent of
finance requirements being met through informal sources. The total finance requirement of women
owned MSMEs in 2012 was around Indian rupees 8.68 trillion ($158 billion).
Within the segment, small enterprises led the demand for financing: around Indian rupees 6.42
trillion ($116 billion), approximately 74 percent of the total requirement. This was mostly due to
unmet working capital and investment finance needs. Micro enterprises with a requirement of
Indian rupees 2.05 trillion ($37 billion), accounted for 24 percent. Most of this requirement was
largely focused around working capital needs. Women owned medium scale enterprises, which
account for 0.01 percent of the total MSME sector had finance requirements of around Indian
rupees 0.21 trillion ($4 billion), about 2 percent of the total requirement. Microfinance loans for
seed capital allow women borrowers build credit habits and become more bankable. Thus,
microfinance plays a key role in expanding access to finance for low income women aspiring

Substance Abuse And Social Media Analysis
Moreover, parents and siblings play an important role in the lives of adolescents; they see their
parents and older siblings as role models and imitate their habits and behaviors. The National
Institute on Drugs Abuse (2014) states that the family environment is also important: Violence,
physical or emotional abuse, mental illness, or drug use in the household increase the likelihood an
adolescent will use drugs . These stressors can lead teens to engage in illicit activities such as
substance abuse. Psychological abuse and physical violence increase the need for drinking and

the room allowing staff to treat a patient from all sides. In the event that a patient needs to be

and portable trolley with battery that detaches and can go with the patient, saving critical

Liberal Arts And Conservative Arts Essay
Conclusion
Josey Fowler
HU 2651: Liberal Arts Core Seminar
Dr. Brown
Liberal arts prepare diligent students for success by providing them opportunities to learn about
themselves and about others around them. The liberal arts shape students perspective making them
become more diverse in how they view the world. It teaches students qualitative thought and
quantitative thought and how those two types of thought come together to form conclusions and
effective decisions. Not only does the liberal arts require students to think critically, but it also
creates students who know how to write and speak efficiently. A student who know how to talk to
people and knows how to explain their thought process will eventually become leaders and great
citizens for society. The liberal arts create student who can think for themselves. With courses that
encourage students to think, a liberal arts education generates students who will have unique
perspectives and opinions on many subjects. The liberal arts prepare students to generate ideas that
will continue to facilitate discussions in and outside of school. Liberal arts prepare a student to
think about their thought process. With quantitative information and qualitative information,
students can learn how to express their thought process and any patterns that go along with the
process. The liberal arts encourage students to collect information, analyze that information and

Strategic Marketing Principles
Strategic Marketing Principles
Introduction
Being strategic when spending marketing dollars is important for any company regardless of
size. A business, for this case British Airways, can only be as successful as its marketing
initiatives. A company is said to be market driven when it is focused on the market that it is in
and the customers who define that market (Buggie, 1993). Sometimes a company will examine
the overall market they are in and try to redefine it so that they can cover a niche. British
Airways is trying to focus its drive in its market so that customers look to the company as the
leading premier air carrier. In order for the company to do this, they have to alter long held
perceptions by changing the way that they do business. British Airways has started doing this by
employing two distinct methodologies. First British Airways merged with Iberia which gives
them a wider customer base, and they formed alliances with other national carriers such as Qantas
and American Airlines. The company also needed to have a look that bespoke luxury, so they have
also upgraded their facilities in the airports they serve (specifically Heathrow). The purpose of this
paper is to examine the effectiveness of British Airways plans to expand their business and improve
their services through a strategic marketing analysis.
Background
British Airways became an organized airline in 1971 (British Airways, 2011). Through the years
the airline has been forced to change as the

How Did The Pendulum Clocks Make The World
The invention of the pendulum clock played a pivotal role in making the world a more global
society. Prior to its invention in 1656, mechanical clocks were extremely inaccurate, making many
scientific experiments impossible due to the lack of a consistent way to measure time. Travelers
who needed to determine their longitude and latitude, such as explorers of the new world, needed
an accurate way to determine time. Watchmaking was considered the pinnacle of technological
achievement with only master clockmakers able to produce accurate ones, fostering a global trade
of their craft. Specifically in American history The Waterbury ClockCompany, today known as
Timex, became a major export for the country in the 19th century. Pendulumclocks remained the
world standard for accurate timekeeping for 270 years, until the invention of the quartz clock in
1927.

Which then drove the invention of the anchor escapement around 1670. In addition to increased
accuracy, The long narrow clocks built around these pendulums, later known as grandfather clocks,
were first made by William Clement around 1680, The increased accuracy from these developments
resulted in the implementation of the minute hand, previously rare, to be added to clock faces
beginning around 1690. The 18th and 19th century brought many other improvements. Observation
that pendulum clocks slowed down in summer brought the realization that thermal expansion and
contraction of the pendulum rod with changes in temperature was a source of error. This was
solved by the invention of temperature compensated pendulums; the mercury pendulum by George
Graham in 1721 and the gridiron pendulum by John Harrison in 1726. With these improvements,
by the mid 18th century precision pendulum clocks achieved accuracies of a few seconds per week.

As a result of increased corruption in the Catholic Church, a significant number of priests in the
16th century tried to transform Christianity back to its previous Biblical basis and simplicity.
Initially, priests channeled much of their efforts in reforming the church, but they discovered that it
was very challenging, and the only viable solution was to split completely from the Catholic Church
. There were four movements as a result of the reformation events. They include the Anglicans,

Reformations Theological Issues
Luther identified three major principles that were acknowledged by other Protestant factions.
According to the theological premises, all Christians are mandated to believe in the Scripture s
primacy. The idea means that the Biblical literal meaning should be favored in contrast to any
learned or conventional readings. Christians are also supposed to reject anything not founded in
Scripture. Secondly, justification is by faith alone, and Christians through believing will be saved,
and not by their good works; as maintained by the Catholic Church. The other premise is the
priesthood of the believer. The idea meant that it was not ideal to consider ordained priests as the
true spiritual estate members. Priesthood was eliminated by Luther in Protestant Churches though
some still make use of pastors or ministers to lead.
Apart from the three principals, the Eucharist sacrament was also elucidated by Luther with
reference to consubstantiation. Consubstantiation refers to the assurance that Christ is indeed
present in the Eucharist celebration. The belief is also similar to the transubstantiation doctrine.
However, in the transubstantiation doctrine, it is believed that wine and bread factually change to
the blood and body of Jesus Christ during the

Buffa s Dance Studio Analysis
Anyone who has heard of the show Dance Moms, may cringe at the statement, I ve grown up in a
dance studio. However, I can attest to the fallacy of that sentiment.
When I was eight years old, I enrolled in my first of countless dance classes at Buffa s Dance
Studio. Eight years later, the studio director offered me a job. This opportunity soon developed
into far more than the typical employment available to teenagers. Working side by side the studio
owner, I spent copious hours reorganizing the studio, teaching classes, and developing
innumerable spreadsheets to allow for easy tracking of the myriad details: annual registration of
500+ dancers, orders for thousands of costumes and the production of six recitals, complete with
lighting, sound, and special effects. In addition to working for the studio, I assisted in the yearly
production of The Nutcracker performances, staged through their non profit organization, Burke

Viola and Orsino in Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
In William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night there are several relationships that develop throughout the
play. Among the many characters whose interaction and misunderstanding become the core of the
plot, Viola and Orsino have the most significant relationship. The way they interact with one
another causes the complex conflict of the play, and as the conflict comes to be more complex the
two characters turn from strangers to friends and then to lovers.
In the first Act Viola and Orsino s interaction is on the level of two complete strangers. From the

are other women about. Sooth, but you must. Say that some lady as perhaps there is, hath for you
as great a pang of heart as you have for Olivia. Must she not then be answered? Orsino brushes the
comment off and says that there is no stronger love than he has for Olivia, but the conversation in
itself is a big step in their development into friends from complete strangers. The statement also
leaves the audience a back door to a possible aspiring love relationship.
In the fifth and final act the love between Orsino and Viola is now possible because viola reveals
that she is in fact a woman and not the male page Cesario.
Twelfth Night In Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, it is clearly evident that the fluctuation in attitude to
the dual role and situation and tribulations imposed upon the character of Viola/Cesario ends up in
a better understanding of both sexes, and thus, allows Viola to have a better understanding for
Orsino. Near the opening of the play, when Viola is adopting her male identity, she creates another
self, like two masks and may decide to wear one or the other while swinging between the two
identities in emotion and in character. She decides to take on this identity

It is a rule of nature that whenever an outside force threatens to destroy a body embedded in a
community, that the members of that entrenched body will collaborate to exorcise that hostile
opponent. In the same way, during times of outward peace, members of the same community will
begin to oppose each other and order themselves by an individually reasoned likelihood of survival.
Correspondingly, humans will often align themselves with others of similar political philosophy
during times of international hostility but turn on themselves during times of international

Political parties and their exclusive philosophies have existed for as long as political conflict has

American politics have remained nearly stagnant its amount of political parties, however, never

movements formed promptly at the start of the American Revolution. They continued onwards for
a few years, constantly at odds, until the death of the Federalists after the War of 1812. The
Antifederalists continued on, eventually remodeling themselves as the Democratic Republicans
and then the Democrats. The Whig party rose to oppose them in the early 19th century but died

Venezuela
A beautiful country in the north of South America, Venezuela is home to many natural wonders.
Venezuela boasts the tallest waterfall in the world, several Caribbean archipelagos, vast plains, and
many state parks (Martz). First colonized in 1498 by Christopher Columbus, Venezuela was named
after the native s stilt houses that reminded colonists of buildings in Venice, therefore naming the
country Venezuola (little Venice) ( South America :: Venezuela). After being under the control of
the Spanish for many years, Venezuela finally became an independent country on April 19th, 1810
(Martz). The country of Venezuela is located in northern South America, bordering the Caribbean
sea, the atlantic ocean, Colombia, Guyana, and Brazil. It is six times the size of Georgia, and
currently has an estimated population of 30,208,000 people ( South America :: Venezuela). The
capital city of Caracas is surrounded by a beautiful state park on one side, and rugged yet densely
populated hills on the other (Venezuela Caracas An Introduction). There are many interesting

External And Business Issues In The Viacom Company
The Viacom Company through the process of its stability has endured many issues both from the
external and internal environment. The issues may largely affect the company s performance in
both markets and also achieve a loyal customer/viewer base as well as the ability to hire and retain
employees in the television business that is very competitive. The competition could be threatening
to Viacomsince, through constant innovation and creativity from the competitors, even the loyal
viewers of its networks could easily be swayed towards other new directions. Therefore, Viacom
would largely benefit if the issues are closely addressed with optimal carefulness and efficient
strategies. The strategies will keep the company on its toes. There are issues that are currently
affecting the company, and others are pending, meaning, they could affect the media conglomerate
both positively or negatively in the future. The Viacom Company faces the following issues;
continuous profit and sales decline amidst executive changes, troubles with charter carriage talks
and the end to internal executive disputes by the appointment of new executives.
The media conglomerate in the current years is facing troubles in stabilizing its sales and profits.

Film Techniques Used to Emphasize Themes in V for Vendetta
Film techniques used to emphasize themes in V for Vendetta
In the film V for Vendetta, the director, James McTeigue uses symbolism, costume and dialogue to
emphasise the idea of everybody having a right to individuality, and the right and duty to resist
forced conformism.
James McTeigue uses symbolism in the film V for Vendetta to juxtapose the idea of individuality
and the resistance of forced conformity. The first important symbol used in the film is V s mask.
This symbol is shown in all of the scenes V appears in and again in the very last scene. In this
scene thousands of citizens gather wearing the masks and remove them. Masks often symbolize a
character hiding their identity. This final scene when the citizens remove their... Show more content

At the beginning of the film, Evey dresses to blend in with the crowds; she wears light colours,
nothing that stands out. However towards the end of the film, V helps Evey to lose her fear and
discover who she is. He shaves her head. After this point in the film Evey begins to wear darker
coloured clothing such as blacks and greys, and wears her bald head with pride. She does not
cover it with wigs or hats. This is similar to the costume changes shown in the film the Matrix,
which James McTeigue helped direct. While in the Matrix the characters wear darker clothes,
these colours show a change in attitude and the characters desires to resist being controlled and
forced into conformity by the Machines. This change in costume is similar to that of V for
Vendetta, which shows Evey s new found confidence in her identity, and her willingness to resist
conforming to the totalitarian society she lives in. In doing this, the director urges viewers to try
to find their own individuality and resist the conformism in their own lives. He uses this film to
warn viewers of the dangers of not resisting forced conformism, through the lack of change in
costume in the other characters. In 2011 an article was posted on Enotes which reads V s legacy
for change is embodied in Evey, which is reflective of how individuals

Use Of Satire In Summer Heights High

The Last Phase Of Our Project
The last phase of our project was at the end of each week did we reach our goal of 25 people
visiting our booth and having our overall goal of 100 people visiting our booths over the past
four week; which was met by having a total of 109 people visit our booths. The way we were
able to keep track of the number of people who came by our booths were the individual ribbons we
handed out; we would count how many we started out with before setting up the booths, then we
would count how many were left when we shut down the booths.
Throughout the month of April every Wednesday in the University Center starting 11:00am until
12:30pm we held a booth that was filled with information on the history of abuse and neglect and
what abuse and neglect are and what you can do to prevent it from happening. Each person was
responsible for gathering information on the topic and sending the information to Dawn so that she
can put it on the pamphlets that we gave out at every booth, we had a separate packet that gave the
definition of mandated reporting and who they are; what steps to take when placing a hotline call
including the national number, Missouri, and Illinois. We had another packet that listed facts and
statistics about the different types of abuse. We gave out individual ribbons and asked them to sign
our large ribbon.

An Admirable Spanish Novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don...
Don Quixote fully titled The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha is an admirable
Spanish novel by an eminent novelist Miguel De Cervantes. Cervantes wrote many novels while in
prison but unfortunately this was the only reputed work produced by him which became world s
first best seller and literature s great masterpiece. It encompasses the history, culture and the general
environment in Spain. According to me, this magnum opus became so high flying because of its
universally recognized matchless idea of Quixotism (pursuits of lofty romantic ideas) combined
with the innovative characters.
The concept of the novel is simple: Alonso Quijano (Don Quixote), landowner from La Mancha, is
obsessed with his library of chivalrous books. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of the book also pertains with the thought of Quixotism and the invention of
characters. Clearly, it was to undermine the influence of the vain and empty book of chivalry in
order to provide some merry and prudent material for reader s entertainment. Although it is
immaterial he did make a complete end to the further publications of chivalric romances.
Cervantes himself wrote in the latter section of part 1, for chivalry, offers wide and spacious
window through which the pen may run without any hindrance. Perhaps Don Quixote owes his
genesis to these notions of his author. But as Cervantes launches his idealistic and possessed hero
on a career open to public contempt, the possibilities of a many leveled, kaleidoscopic theme may
have become apparent very early if the characters were not incorporated in a beguiling way. The
way he integrated his character not only helped him produce an idealistic effect on his work but
also kept track of his idea of Quixotism in the quixotic environment created by Don Quixote all
throughout the novel
So, while Cervantes is presenting a vivid ideology of Quixotism it was really requisite for him to
have particular relationship with his characters as well as the reader and he did succeed in doing
so. Don Quixote presents this interesting aspect of a novelist who learns and grows in coincidence
with his own characters. As he lives with them and loves them, Cervantes investigates

Rappaccini’s Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Two boys stare at an unfamiliar girl sitting by herself and whisper, She must be new, to each other.
They walk over to her, wanting to know about her, and ask her where she is from. The human
tendency of wanting to know about the unknown is an idea writers such as Nathaniel Hawthorne
use in their works. Hawthorne uses the style of Romanticism, which was most prominent during the
early nineteenth century and includes specific traits such as devotion to nature, feelings of passion,
and the lure of the exotic. It also emphasizes traits including the idea of solitary life rather than life
in society, the reliance on the imagination, and the appreciation of spontaneity. Rappaccini s

In summary, the lure of the exotic which Giovanni feels towards Beatrice and the flowers asserts
that Rappaccini s Daughter is Romantic. The idea of solitary life rather than life in society is a
theme interlaced throughout the short story. Early in the tale, Hawthorne writes, [Giovanni] seated
himself near the window, but within the shadow thrown by the depth of the wall, so that he could
look down into the garden with little risk of being discovered. Giovanni, wanting to be secluded,
hid from view, and this adds to the solitary life theme. Furthermore, the author writes, the desert of
humanity around them ... [pressed] this insulated pair closer together, to describe Giovanni and
Beatrice find kinship (Hawthorne). Near the end of the narrative, both Giovanni and Beatrice
become infused with poison. They are not able to live a normal life or be around society because
their poison will injure or kill others. Beatrice even says that the poison had, estranged [her] from
all society of [her] kind (Hawthorne). Therefore, solitary life, a concurrent theme and Romantic trait
is existent in Rappaccini s Daughter.
Hawthorne s story demonstrates an appreciation and idolization of nature. The author compares
Beatrice to flowers:
Soon there emerged from under a sculptured portal the figure of a young girl, arrayed with as much
richness of taste as the most splendid of the flowers,

Although participation grade is not based on correctness, I cannot stop worrying about whether

students feel stressful in verbal context, they also face difficulties in essays. Because of their

Introduction
My fondness and love for gaming started when I was only 3 years old. This is when my life

my obsession and collection one has to recognise the history of video games. In the early 1950 s
the video game was developed. It all started in a concrete arcade and progressed to the comfort of

The Prejudice of Maycomb All men are created equal , one of the most ignored statements that our

Prejudice is a topic that is constantly revisited in Harper Lee s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. Her
novel focuses on Scout, the daughter of Atticus Finch, living her life in the 1930s of rural
Maycomb, Alabama. Scout witnesses the injustice and prejudice against many people, not only
Negroes. The heat of prejudice rises when Atticus decides to defend Tom Robinson, a black who is

aggravates em. You re not gonna change any of them by talking right, they ve got to learn

shut or talk their language. (Lee 167) Calpurnia s insight offers us a look at the language divide
between whites and blacks. White people dislike a person who speaks like a black and black people
dislike a person who speaks like a white. The fact that the black community despises the way
whites act and vice versa shows the fear of difference. Scout s neighbor, Mrs. Dubose also
dislikes people who act differently, including Atticus, which is shown when, she shouts at Scout.

people who act differently than expected. Atticus acted differently than other people earning him
the hatred of Mrs. Dubose. Mrs. Dubose also compares Negroes to trash, showing that she also
hates Negroes, probably because they have different skin color from her. The town of Maycomb

into manageable pieces so that Shawna could feel successful and empowered to continue moving

Healthcare clinics are under a great deal of pressure to reduce costs and improve quality of service.
In recent years, healthcare organizations have concentrated on preventive medicine practices and
have tried to reduce the length of time that patients stay in a hospital. Outpatient services have

outpatient component cost effective are finding themselves financially burdened in this ever

As a result of this, when one patient takes longer to process, the Arrival Queue becomes a
bottleneck. Patients begin to stack up behind one another while they wait for the other patients to

process each patient and removing or reordering certain steps, the cycle time could be reduced and
the bottleneck eliminated.
Work Process Improvement
As stated earlier, the cost for health care is rising for both employers and employees; therefore,
both employers and employees are seeking for medical groups that provide systems of very well
coordinated care. Coordinating care creates significant advantages for patient by delivering high
quality care efficiently, so that patients get the most for their health care dollars. When services are
integrated and carefully designed across the stream of care, this thoughtfulness up front eliminates
duplication of processes and inappropriate services. Patients, employers and medical groups benefit
in terms of better health and streamlined costs associated with the care.
Survey after survey suggest that the biggest frustrations for patients are:

Righteousness In The Canterbury Tales
In The General Prologue to the Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer uses the value of
righteousness to clearly distinguish between the pilgrims the exceptional, the decent and the
terrible. The goodness of the pilgrims is determined, by Chaucer, based on his or her ability to
adhere to their own superior moral standards. Some pilgrims, like the Parson and the Plowman,
are highly praised by Chaucer for their righteous qualities. Some on the other hand like the
Summoner and Pardoner, are chastised for their dishonorable ways of living. Chaucer is
sometimes discreet in giving praise and sometimes gives the praise outright. His knack for
sarcasm gives the reader a good idea of what he clearly finds unadmirable as he pokes at the good

There are clearly characters who are nothing but righteous, following a moral path and making
decisions because it s the right thing to do not because of what they will get out of it. However,
there are also vulgar and corrupt characters who act out of greed and desire. The highly praised
ones are the ones that know what the right thing to do is, and do it. The ones Chaucer scolds are
the ones who have unjust motives behind all of their actions and never think twice about it.
Though Chaucer values righteousness, being righteous today won t get anyone far. The definition
of right or wrong is now highly debated and the wrong thing is very easy to do behind the screen
of technology. Also, though being righteous is undoubtedly a good quality, today it is often
overlooked and not appreciated as well as it should be. However, based on Chaucer s preferences

description of the concepts and theories behind REBT as well as examples of the types of
therapies that are commonly used in REBT. Next, an explanation of some of the changes that have
occurred during the history of REBT and a call for some future developments. Finally, some
criticisms of REBT are debated.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy: Past, Present, and Future Rational emotive behavior therapy
(REBT) was first developed by Albert Ellis in 1955 (Dryden, David, Ellis, 2009). Albert Ellis was
influenced by the teachings of many different stoic philosophers, including Epictetus, which taught
that humans are not disturbed by the actual things that happen to them but by their perception of
those things (Dryden et al., 2009). Hence, Ellis termed this therapy rational psychotherapy in order
to emphasize the cognitive aspect of his therapy and to differentiate it from other psychoanalytic
therapies (Dryden et al., 2009). However, he had to change the name of his therapy to rational
emotive therapy in 1961 due to critics accusations of the therapy ignoring clients emotions, and
then again in 1993 to rational emotive behavior therapy in order to emphasize the behavior aspect
of therapy (Dryden et al., 2009). Another influence to Ellis was Alfred Alder; Alder s belief that an

How Did Snowball Build A Fire
Chapter 3
1.The animals are having a hard time to work, since the tools used for farming are designed for
humans not for animals.
2.Each animal did a certain job, the horses rake the fields and the pigs direct the animals on what
to do.
3.Now the animals were able to eat their food with pleasure since they produced it by themselves
and with their own effort.
4.On Sundays, there was no work, breakfast is an hour later and a ceremony is held, a green flag
with a hoof and a horn signifying the future of the republic of the animals.
5.Snowball came up with committees to help animals and teach them how to work properly.
6.The committees that Snowball created was all a failure and all of the animals continued to
behave like they were before, resulting nothing.

Uncontrolled Periodontitis Case Studies
In conclusion, the clinical assessment, as a whole, determined that the patient has controlled
generalized, severe, diffused gingivitis, and uncontrolled severe periodontitis. Treatment notes
indicate that the periodontitis was diagnosed as controlled, but the recent jump from a periodontal
case type II to a periodontal case type IV is indicative of uncontrolled periodontitis. Determination
was made by the inflammation present, bleeding index, color of the free and attached gingiva,
radiographs, probe depths, recession, and CAL mentioned above. Treatment plan modifications
were implement to compensate for the patients increased gingivitis and periodontal status.

appointments, but due to the increased periodontal disease many areas ... Show more content on

Over the years, the documentation of the patient s oral health has remained fairly consistent. Chaz s
home care indicates he possess a good attitude towards oral hygiene and is highly motivated. He
claims to brush two times a day, floss once a day, and uses Listerine mouth wash two times daily,
yet his plaque index was fairly high, reaching 57%. At his final appointment the increase in plaque
accumulation could be related to the patient s recent injuries. Experiencing constant pain could
detour, distract, or change the motivation he once had to perform the necessary hygiene procedures
to keep his periodontal condition from increasing. After examining his technique with string floss
and our test drive electric tooth brushes, I noticed that when brushing he focuses the most on the
mid and incisal edges of the teeth rather than the gum line. Remembering our recent lecture from
Dr. Parker and how he emphasized that, with geriatrics, the technique is not as important as simply
getting the job done; I recommended to the patient to focus on keeping half of the brush head on
the gum line and the other

Background Of An Authorised Firearms Officer
Chapter 1
Background
When an authorised firearms officer in the police is involved in a shooting, procedures and
guidelines are firmly incorporated to ensure that investigations are thoroughly carried out.
However, most police officers in England and Wales will never possess a firearm, face a gun or
discharge one as this supports the ideology that police officers in England and Wales have no desire
to carry a firearm routinely (Rostker, 2008, p. 78)
It is not a common occurrence for a weapon to be discharged in any firearms incident in England
and Wales, for example if a firearm is discharged following an alert, over half the rounds fired are
believed to miss their intended target and of those people hit by a round, more than half survive
(Punch, 2011, p. 1). A similar situation also exists in the United Statesof America.
The United States are viewed in the Western society as extreme in relation to weapons and
violence because of its high police response rates to its widespread strong gun culture (Crank,
1998, p. 152). The United States will be introduced as a comparator to this research as it is already
highly compared to other societies where the sale of weapons and its regulation is minimal, with
only local law enforcement agencies setting the policy with no national policing system.
A report released in 2012 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that 410 Americans were
lawfully killed by the police with only one victim unarmed (2013). However, during

The Benefits Of Aerobic Exercise
Aerobic exercise has been studied and through those studies researchers have found that aerobic
exercise improves the cognitive abilities of young adults. Some of the cognitive abilities improved
are learning, memory, and decision making. Through aerobic exercise these cognitive abilities are
improved and sharpened. Aerobic exercise stimulates the hippocampuswhich is the area responsible
for memoryand partly for learning. Another part aerobic exercise stimulates is the frontal cortex
which is the area responsible for decision making. Aerobic exercise also stimulates many parts of
the brainthat together are responsible for our learning. Aerobic exercise combined with mental
training is what helps further the cognitive abilities of young adults. Through aerobic exercise
the cognitive abilities of young adults improve to new heights. Aerobic exercise has many
beneficial effects in the cognitive abilities of young adults. One of the big parts that aerobic
exercise helps young adults with is learning. Young adults performing aerobic exercise experience
an increase in volume in the hippocampus which helps benefit learning. The hippocampus is one
of the parts in our brain responsible for our learning. Aerobic exercise through studies has been
shown to stimulate this part in our brains. In Aerobic Exercise for New Brain Cells and Cognitive
Performance the director states that aerobic exercise can double the production of new brain cells
in the hippocampus. This leads to new brain connections that in turn improve the amount of
information we can handle. One reason that aerobic exercise helps stimulate the hippocampus is
because it also stimulates BDNF production. BDNF production is a nerve growth factor that
boosts the growth of new brain cells in the hippocampus. This leads to new brain cells being form
which in turn improves cognitive abilities and mood. While aerobic exercise does stimulate the
hippocampus which boosts our learning, it is still important to put in mental training so the new
brains cells remain and don t die off. Through aerobic exercise young adults will be able to handle
more information which in turn will help increase their performance in academics. Another
cognitive ability that

INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
The successful organization is the one that communicates well both internally and with other
companies and clients. In fact, information flow is crucial to any organization and the better the
flow the more successful it is.
At work a great of information is convoyed in technical documents, some of the tasks tackled by
their writer are; proposals, reports, instruction. Technical writingcommunicates highly specific
information. Most of it is prepared by professionals, such as engineers, scientists and other
technicians. Even though it presents technical, a technical document should be easy to understand.

Graphic serve as a universal language said by Brucker (2002). There are many advantages of using
graphic in technical document. Graphic communication represents ideas, relationship or
connections visually with shapes, diagram and line. For example, some of the No Smoking signs
display in public place. (Dwyer, 2003).
In this report, the model of the Pioneer s operation manual was 8850MP model, which is the top
range car stereo head unit of Pioneer. The price in retail store is around AUD 800 and the unit
contains many high technology features, such as ipod compatibility and Bluetooth. Surprisingly,
the operation manual looks like a cheap heater or a fan operation manual. It used black and white
color which shows bad quality pictures, and the pictures are also very small to see. Moreover, it
seem like the writers want to used less pictures as possible to describes the operational function,
which is definitely too little to understand. (See appendix D).
On the other hand, compare with O2 mobile phone operational manual (see appendix E) which
also has high technology features and selling at the same price. It can see much difference between
them. The O2 manual used color pictures, it also have graph and table which make it look

The TransContinental Railroad Essay
The TransContinental Railroad
If any act symbolized the taming of the Northwest frontier, it was the driving of the final spike to
complete the nation s first transcontinental railroad. 1 The first railroad west of the Mississippi
River was opened on December 23, 1852. Five miles long, the track ran from St. Louis to
Cheltanham, Missouri. Twenty five years prior, there were no railroads in the United States; twenty
five years later, railroads joined the east and west coasts from New York to San Francisco.2 No
other single factor contributed more the commercial and social development of the Pacific
Northwest than the arrival of the railroad. For the first time in history, people could get to the west
coast in a matter of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each railroad was to receive a 200 foot wide right of way and sections of public lands to help
finance construction. The Northern Pacific s charter originally provided ten alternate sections per
mile in states through which it passed and 20 sections per mile in territories. If sufficient lands
were not available within this grant, other sections could be selected as in lieu from a secondary
zone which reached back from the tracks another 20 miles.8 These land grants contributed greatly to
commercial development and growth of towns along the track routes. A fourth railroad was the
Southern Pacific, which was routed from New Orleans to Los Angeles. The Great Northern
Railway was the fifth transcontinental line. The Great Northern, along with the Northern Pacific,
had the greatest impact on developing the northwest. However, unlike the Northern Pacific, it was
not a land grand railroad. It did not obtain federal loans to help in its construction as did the Union

1970 s Feminist Art Movement
The feminist art movement in the 1970 s culminated as a result of numerous factors. Females
rebelled against traditional art which sexualized objects of desire and was masculine in nature.
Female artists voiced their opinions of the stereotypes of gender, female body, and beauty ideals in
their work. Hannah Wilke, Ana Mendieta, and Carolee Schneemann are artists that helped pave the
way for feminist art and expression. A contemporary artist that reflects the 1970 s movement is
Janine Antoni. Her work, Loving Care and Gnaw, shows her portrayal of the female body and
desire which reflects feminist ideas. To begin it is important to understand the emerging feminist art
movement in the 1970s. The movement was called the Women s Liberation Movement... Show

In The Time Of The Butterflies Family Loyalty Essay
They say about families that if you knock on the door, they have to let you in. Family will always
be there no matter what. The book, In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, tells the true
story of the four Mirabal sisters, Patria, DedГ©, Minerva, and MarГa Teresa and their fight for
freedom against the harsh dictator, Trujillo, in the Dominican Republic. In the book, Alvarez uses
the theme of familyloyalty to show that no matter what happens families fight and work for each
other because they re family no matter what. This ethic of loyalty to each other is shown
throughout the book from the time when life is uncomplicated and simpler, to the most dangerous
moments of the political resistance. The sisters never give up on each other and their families. It
is easy to be loyal to the family when times are simple and uncomplicated. It doesn t require a lot
of effort, but when times are hard and dangerous, loyalty is more precious and meaningful. Life is
less complicated as demonstrated by this statement of DedГ©, This means that... Show more

She remains loyal to her sisters memories. DedГ© listens to the stories of her sisters last
moments of life because she is the one still alive. She feels it is the least she can do. Each visitor
would break my heart all over again, but I would sit on this very rocker and listen for as long as
they had something to say (301). Not only does she listen, but for years to come she tells the
story of her four sisters to multiple reporters. DedГ© placed a silk orchid in a vase on the little
table below them. She still feels guilty for not continuing Mama s tradition of a fresh blossom for
the girls every day (6). This shows that she still thinks of her sisters every day and tries to do
something to honor them. Everything she does after their death, including taking care of their
children, shows her loyalty to their memory and to who her sisters

  • 2. Wind In The Willows Map Analysis On page 30, we see the map that shows how limited the scope of her father s life was. The map is drawn with an internal circular frame that simulates the effect of a magnifying class, as if pulling the locations (which are likely truly separated by several miles) that much closer together. The text box overlaying this image, resting inside the scope of the magnifying glass, informs the reader that this impression of proximity is simultaneously misleading, and accurate. So far, we have only seen it as misleading. However, if we compare the image produced by this map to the very next panel, we see an image that zooms in even closer and demonstrates how reluctant his family is to stray from their small town. The impression we are left with is that their home life is somewhat suffocating, especially as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing so, Bechdel has linked her father to Mr. Toad, whom she calls a charming sociopath (Bechdel 130). This link between Mr. Toad and Bruce Bechdel is significant in that Wind in the Willows map that follows because of the connection it renders. New meaning is found in the map as Alison draws parallels between the maps of both her home landscape and the setting of the children s novels. The image of Mr. Toad, perhaps still with the thought of Bruce linked to him, speeding towards the edge of the map in still life, also functions as a metaphor for her father s existence as he too became disenchanted (147). Three people were killed in a car crash on a highway that summer, the same highway her father would die on nine years later, and the impact of this event clearly has an influenced the way Alison processed the information. Approximately, 78 percent of women enterprises belong to the services sector. Women entrepreneurship is largely skewed towards smaller sized firms, as almost 98 percent of women owned businesses are micro enterprises. As with the broader MSME sector, access to formal finance is a key barrier to the growth of women owned businesses, leading to over 90 percent of finance requirements being met through informal sources. The total finance requirement of women owned MSMEs in 2012 was around Indian rupees 8.68 trillion ($158 billion). Within the segment, small enterprises led the demand for financing: around Indian rupees 6.42 trillion ($116 billion), approximately 74 percent of the total requirement. This was mostly due to unmet working capital and investment finance needs. Micro enterprises with a requirement of Indian rupees 2.05 trillion ($37 billion), accounted for 24 percent. Most of this requirement was largely focused around working capital needs. • 12. Strategic Marketing Principles Strategic Marketing Principles Introduction Being strategic when spending marketing dollars is important for any company regardless of size. A business, for this case British Airways, can only be as successful as its marketing initiatives. A company is said to be market driven when it is focused on the market that it is in and the customers who define that market (Buggie, 1993). Sometimes a company will examine the overall market they are in and try to redefine it so that they can cover a niche. British Airways is trying to focus its drive in its market so that customers look to the company as the leading premier air carrier. In order for the company to do this, they have to alter long held perceptions by changing the way that they do business. British Airways has started doing this by employing two distinct methodologies. First British Airways merged with Iberia which gives them a wider customer base, and they formed alliances with other national carriers such as Qantas and American Airlines. The company also needed to have a look that bespoke luxury, so they have also upgraded their facilities in the airports they serve (specifically Heathrow). The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of British Airways plans to expand their business and improve their services through a strategic marketing analysis. Background British Airways became an organized airline in 1971 (British Airways, 2011). Through the years the airline has been forced to change as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. How Did The Pendulum Clocks Make The World The invention of the pendulum clock played a pivotal role in making the world a more global society. Prior to its invention in 1656, mechanical clocks were extremely inaccurate, making many scientific experiments impossible due to the lack of a consistent way to measure time. Travelers who needed to determine their longitude and latitude, such as explorers of the new world, needed an accurate way to determine time. Watchmaking was considered the pinnacle of technological achievement with only master clockmakers able to produce accurate ones, fostering a global trade of their craft. Specifically in American history The Waterbury ClockCompany, today known as Timex, became a major export for the country in the 19th century. Pendulumclocks remained the world standard for accurate timekeeping for 270 years, until the invention of the quartz clock in 1927. In 1656 the pendulum clock was invented ... The 18th and 19th century brought many other improvements. Observation that pendulum clocks slowed down in summer brought the realization that thermal expansion and contraction of the pendulum rod with changes in temperature was a source of error. This was solved by the invention of temperature compensated pendulums; the mercury pendulum by George Graham in 1721 and the gridiron pendulum by John Harrison in 1726. With these improvements, by the mid 18th century precision pendulum clocks achieved accuracies of a few seconds per week. (A CHRONICLE OF ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

KEITH GOAD LIBERTY UNIVERSITY NOVEMBER 05, 2013 As a result of increased corruption in the Catholic Church, a significant number of priests in the 16th century tried to transform Christianity back to its previous Biblical basis and simplicity. Initially, priests channeled much of their efforts in reforming the church, but they discovered that it was very challenging, and the only viable solution was to split completely from the Catholic Church . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He continued to preach and write; enabling him to carry on with reformation. Reformations Theological Issues Luther identified three major principles that were acknowledged by other Protestant factions. According to the theological premises, all Christians are mandated to believe in the Scripture s primacy. The idea means that the Biblical literal meaning should be favored in contrast to any learned or conventional readings. Christians are also supposed to reject anything not founded in Scripture. Secondly, justification is by faith alone, and Christians through believing will be saved, and not by their good works; as maintained by the Catholic Church. The other premise is the priesthood of the believer. The idea meant that it was not ideal to consider ordained priests as the true spiritual estate members. Priesthood was eliminated by Luther in Protestant Churches though some still make use of pastors or ministers to lead. Apart from the three principals, the Eucharist sacrament was also elucidated by Luther with reference to consubstantiation. Consubstantiation refers to the assurance that Christ is indeed present in the Eucharist celebration. The belief is also similar to the transubstantiation doctrine. Eight years later, the studio director offered me a job. This opportunity soon developed into far more than the typical employment available to teenagers. Working side by side the studio owner, I spent copious hours reorganizing the studio, teaching classes, and developing innumerable spreadsheets to allow for easy tracking of the myriad details: annual registration of 500+ dancers, orders for thousands of costumes and the production of six recitals, complete with lighting, sound, and special effects. In addition to working for the studio, I assisted in the yearly production of The Nutcracker performances, staged through their non profit organization, Burke Civic Ballet. James McTeigue uses symbolism in the film V for Vendetta to juxtapose the idea of individuality and the resistance of forced conformity. The first important symbol used in the film is V s mask. After this point in the film Evey begins to wear darker coloured clothing such as blacks and greys, and wears her bald head with pride. She does not cover it with wigs or hats. This is similar to the costume changes shown in the film the Matrix, which James McTeigue helped direct. While in the Matrix the characters wear darker clothes, these colours show a change in attitude and the characters desires to resist being controlled and forced into conformity by the Machines. This change in costume is similar to that of V for Vendetta, which shows Evey s new found confidence in her identity, and her willingness to resist conforming to the totalitarian society she lives in. In doing this, the director urges viewers to try to find their own individuality and resist the conformism in their own lives. He uses this film to warn viewers of the dangers of not resisting forced conformism, through the lack of change in costume in the other characters. • 26. An Admirable Spanish Novel, The Ingenious Gentleman Don... Don Quixote fully titled The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha is an admirable Spanish novel by an eminent novelist Miguel De Cervantes. Cervantes wrote many novels while in prison but unfortunately this was the only reputed work produced by him which became world s first best seller and literature s great masterpiece. It encompasses the history, culture and the general environment in Spain. According to me, this magnum opus became so high flying because of its universally recognized matchless idea of Quixotism (pursuits of lofty romantic ideas) combined with the innovative characters. The concept of the novel is simple: Alonso Quijano (Don Quixote), landowner from La Mancha, is obsessed with his library of chivalrous books. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of the book also pertains with the thought of Quixotism and the invention of characters. Clearly, it was to undermine the influence of the vain and empty book of chivalry in order to provide some merry and prudent material for reader s entertainment. Although it is immaterial he did make a complete end to the further publications of chivalric romances. Cervantes himself wrote in the latter section of part 1, for chivalry, offers wide and spacious window through which the pen may run without any hindrance. Perhaps Don Quixote owes his genesis to these notions of his author. But as Cervantes launches his idealistic and possessed hero on a career open to public contempt, the possibilities of a many leveled, kaleidoscopic theme may have become apparent very early if the characters were not incorporated in a beguiling way. The way he integrated his character not only helped him produce an idealistic effect on his work but also kept track of his idea of Quixotism in the quixotic environment created by Don Quixote all throughout the novel So, while Cervantes is presenting a vivid ideology of Quixotism it was really requisite for him to have particular relationship with his characters as well as the reader and he did succeed in doing so. Don Quixote presents this interesting aspect of a novelist who learns and grows in coincidence with his own characters. As he lives with them and loves them, Cervantes investigates ... The human tendency of wanting to know about the unknown is an idea writers such as Nathaniel Hawthorne use in their works. Hawthorne uses the style of Romanticism, which was most prominent during the early nineteenth century and includes specific traits such as devotion to nature, feelings of passion, and the lure of the exotic. In summary, the lure of the exotic which Giovanni feels towards Beatrice and the flowers asserts that Rappaccini s Daughter is Romantic. The idea of solitary life rather than life in society is a theme interlaced throughout the short story. Early in the tale, Hawthorne writes, [Giovanni] seated himself near the window, but within the shadow thrown by the depth of the wall, so that he could look down into the garden with little risk of being discovered. Giovanni, wanting to be secluded, hid from view, and this adds to the solitary life theme. Furthermore, the author writes, the desert of humanity around them ... They are not able to live a normal life or be around society because their poison will injure or kill others. Beatrice even says that the poison had, estranged [her] from all society of [her] kind (Hawthorne). Therefore, solitary life, a concurrent theme and Romantic trait is existent in Rappaccini s Daughter. Hawthorne s story demonstrates an appreciation and idolization of nature. Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy: Past, Present, and Future Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) was first developed by Albert Ellis in 1955 (Dryden, David, Ellis, 2009). Albert Ellis was influenced by the teachings of many different stoic philosophers, including Epictetus, which taught that humans are not disturbed by the actual things that happen to them but by their perception of those things (Dryden et al., 2009). Hence, Ellis termed this therapy rational psychotherapy in order to emphasize the cognitive aspect of his therapy and to differentiate it from other psychoanalytic therapies (Dryden et al., 2009). However, he had to change the name of his therapy to rational emotive therapy in 1961 due to critics accusations of the therapy ignoring clients emotions, and then again in 1993 to rational emotive behavior therapy in order to emphasize the behavior aspect of therapy (Dryden et al., 2009). • 42. Uncontrolled Periodontitis Case Studies In conclusion, the clinical assessment, as a whole, determined that the patient has controlled generalized, severe, diffused gingivitis, and uncontrolled severe periodontitis. Treatment notes indicate that the periodontitis was diagnosed as controlled, but the recent jump from a periodontal case type II to a periodontal case type IV is indicative of uncontrolled periodontitis. Determination was made by the inflammation present, bleeding index, color of the free and attached gingiva, radiographs, probe depths, recession, and CAL mentioned above. Treatment plan modifications were implement to compensate for the patients increased gingivitis and periodontal status. Treatment Plan Some aspects of Chaz s treatment plan remained the same from previous appointments, but due to the increased periodontal disease many areas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the years, the documentation of the patient s oral health has remained fairly consistent. Chaz s home care indicates he possess a good attitude towards oral hygiene and is highly motivated. He claims to brush two times a day, floss once a day, and uses Listerine mouth wash two times daily, yet his plaque index was fairly high, reaching 57%. At his final appointment the increase in plaque accumulation could be related to the patient s recent injuries. Experiencing constant pain could detour, distract, or change the motivation he once had to perform the necessary hygiene procedures to keep his periodontal condition from increasing. After examining his technique with string floss and our test drive electric tooth brushes, I noticed that when brushing he focuses the most on the mid and incisal edges of the teeth rather than the gum line. Remembering our recent lecture from Dr. Parker and how he emphasized that, with geriatrics, the technique is not as important as simply getting the job done; I recommended to the patient to focus on keeping half of the brush head on the gum line and the other ... • 43. Background Of An Authorised Firearms Officer Chapter 1 Background When an authorised firearms officer in the police is involved in a shooting, procedures and guidelines are firmly incorporated to ensure that investigations are thoroughly carried out. However, most police officers in England and Wales will never possess a firearm, face a gun or discharge one as this supports the ideology that police officers in England and Wales have no desire to carry a firearm routinely (Rostker, 2008, p. 78) It is not a common occurrence for a weapon to be discharged in any firearms incident in England and Wales, for example if a firearm is discharged following an alert, over half the rounds fired are believed to miss their intended target and of those people hit by a round, more than half survive (Punch, 2011, p. 1). A similar situation also exists in the United Statesof America. The United States are viewed in the Western society as extreme in relation to weapons and violence because of its high police response rates to its widespread strong gun culture (Crank, 1998, p. 152). The United States will be introduced as a comparator to this research as it is already highly compared to other societies where the sale of weapons and its regulation is minimal, with only local law enforcement agencies setting the policy with no national policing system. A report released in 2012 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that 410 Americans were lawfully killed by the police with only one victim unarmed (2013). However, during ... • 44. The Benefits Of Aerobic Exercise Aerobic exercise has been studied and through those studies researchers have found that aerobic exercise improves the cognitive abilities of young adults. Some of the cognitive abilities improved are learning, memory, and decision making. Through aerobic exercise these cognitive abilities are improved and sharpened. Aerobic exercise stimulates the hippocampuswhich is the area responsible for memoryand partly for learning. Another part aerobic exercise stimulates is the frontal cortex which is the area responsible for decision making. Aerobic exercise also stimulates many parts of the brainthat together are responsible for our learning. Aerobic exercise combined with mental training is what helps further the cognitive abilities of young adults. Through aerobic exercise the cognitive abilities of young adults improve to new heights. Aerobic exercise has many beneficial effects in the cognitive abilities of young adults. One of the big parts that aerobic exercise helps young adults with is learning. Young adults performing aerobic exercise experience an increase in volume in the hippocampus which helps benefit learning. The hippocampus is one of the parts in our brain responsible for our learning. Aerobic exercise through studies has been shown to stimulate this part in our brains. In Aerobic Exercise for New Brain Cells and Cognitive Performance the director states that aerobic exercise can double the production of new brain cells in the hippocampus. This leads to new brain connections that in turn improve the amount of information we can handle. One reason that aerobic exercise helps stimulate the hippocampus is because it also stimulates BDNF production. BDNF production is a nerve growth factor that boosts the growth of new brain cells in the hippocampus. This leads to new brain cells being form which in turn improves cognitive abilities and mood. While aerobic exercise does stimulate the hippocampus which boosts our learning, it is still important to put in mental training so the new brains cells remain and don t die off. Through aerobic exercise young adults will be able to handle more information which in turn will help increase their performance in academics. Another cognitive ability that ... Moreover, it seem like the writers want to used less pictures as possible to describes the operational function, which is definitely too little to understand. (See appendix D). The TransContinental Railroad Essay The TransContinental Railroad If any act symbolized the taming of the Northwest frontier, it was the driving of the final spike to complete the nation s first transcontinental railroad. 1 The first railroad west of the Mississippi River was opened on December 23, 1852. Five miles long, the track ran from St. Louis to Cheltanham, Missouri. Twenty five years prior, there were no railroads in the United States; twenty five years later, railroads joined the east and west coasts from New York to San Francisco.2 No other single factor contributed more the commercial and social development of the Pacific Northwest than the arrival of the railroad. Each railroad was to receive a 200 foot wide right of way and sections of public lands to help finance construction. The Northern Pacific s charter originally provided ten alternate sections per mile in states through which it passed and 20 sections per mile in territories. If sufficient lands were not available within this grant, other sections could be selected as in lieu from a secondary zone which reached back from the tracks another 20 miles.8 These land grants contributed greatly to commercial development and growth of towns along the track routes. A fourth railroad was the Southern Pacific, which was routed from New Orleans to Los Angeles. The Great Northern Railway was the fifth transcontinental line. The Great Northern, along with the Northern Pacific, had the greatest impact on developing the northwest. However, unlike the Northern Pacific, it was not a land grand railroad. • 48. In The Time Of The Butterflies Family Loyalty Essay They say about families that if you knock on the door, they have to let you in. Family will always be there no matter what. The book, In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, tells the true story of the four Mirabal sisters, Patria, DedГ©, Minerva, and MarГa Teresa and their fight for freedom against the harsh dictator, Trujillo, in the Dominican Republic. In the book, Alvarez uses the theme of familyloyalty to show that no matter what happens families fight and work for each other because they re family no matter what. This ethic of loyalty to each other is shown throughout the book from the time when life is uncomplicated and simpler, to the most dangerous moments of the political resistance. The sisters never give up on each other and their families. It is easy to be loyal to the family when times are simple and uncomplicated. It doesn t require a lot of effort, but when times are hard and dangerous, loyalty is more precious and meaningful. Not only does she listen, but for years to come she tells the story of her four sisters to multiple reporters. DedГ© placed a silk orchid in a vase on the little table below them. She still feels guilty for not continuing Mama s tradition of a fresh blossom for the girls every day (6). This shows that she still thinks of her sisters every day and tries to do something to honor them. Everything she does after their death, including taking care of their children, shows her loyalty to their memory and to who her sisters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
