Life Sustaining Bond Of Human Beings With The Land
Research Paper
The life sustaining bond of human beings with the land has a strong connection. Centuries have
gone by and throughout the many years, humans have relied on the land to provide for Humans,
they need to evolve, survive, and move forward with their lives. The land provides for humans in a
non costly manner. The land provides humans free shelter. For example, Humans use the dirt we
walk on to build shelter. The Earth provides humans natural resources, such as water from lakes,
streams and rain. The land gives humans bountiful, healthy nourishing food. The Earth provides
free health care for every living creature. The land has a bond with humans because the land
provides natural resources, it provides shelter, and it evolves the ... Show more content on

When we need something the Earth provides, but in return we must protect the Earth. The Earth
provides us with the things that we essentially need in order for us to survive. This is what
connects us to the land that we are currently living on.
The land that we are living on is very important. We should also be very careful of what we do
with it also, because just like us we are both fragile. One bullet, just one single bullet can kill not
one, but two people (humans). Such as a match, one small, simple thing can cause a wildfire,
creating a huge amount of damage.
The Earth is very, very important. The land that connects to the Earth is also important. The land
is our life so we should take care of our land. This is why we have this amazing bond with the
land that we are living on. Every person on Earth shares the responsibility to do as much as they
can to preserve the planet s finite natural resources today and for future generations.
Natural resources are those components of the environment which are inherently created by
environment for supporting life. These resources are very essential for sustaining life on earth.
These resources are available in the form of air, water, mineral, soil, forest, plant, energy etc.
Many people might disagree, why we don t have the connection between the land and us is
because you may say that I don t see it , of course people might not see it, many people would
either be distracted by the things around us and we as the

Economic Crisis
Stabilization in the Wake of Economic Crisis Perhaps the most significant reason Pittsburgh was
able to recover from the collapse of steel was the decision, made early on by city officials and local
developers, to seek out new industries rather than cling to the vestiges of the old. Beginning in
1981, the Allegheny Conference (ACC), a non profit coalition of local business and political
leaders, made economic diversification their primary goal. The conference established a committee
whose sole task was to promote new industries. The committee s chairman said, at the outset, we
must diversify...this time we must build new industries, new jobs. Over the next decade, the ACC
helped secure financing for development projects throughout the... Show more content on

Symbolic of the success of that initiative, in 1990, Pittsburgh succeeded in capturing a $370 M
investment in from the Sony Corporation to build their two newest television manufacturing plants.
Overall, these measures to stabilize Pittsburgh s economy were remarkably successful. Between
1982 and 1990, Pittsburgh s employment rate dropped 12.6% (from 17% to 4.6%). For the
remainder of the decade, the unemployment rate hovered В±0.5% compared to the national average.
Thus, the successes of the late 1980s gave Pittsburgh had the breathing room to pursue longer
lasting, economically sustainable reform. New Pittsburgh (1986 Present) Much of the success of
the mid/late 1980s were the result of massive economic stimulation measures rather than organic
growth. Therefore, after the city recovered from the collapse of the early 1980s, city officials and
local developers continued their plans for further economic development. City officials used the
successes of the late 1980s as a springboard to create the highly diversified economy necessary for
sustained economic growth. Since 1990, the focus of economic growth in Pittsburgh has been in
three largely codependent sectors: education, healthcare, and high technology. Higher Education
Since 1990, Pittsburgh s institutions of higher education have largely driven its economic

Ethanol and Gas Prices Essays
Ethanol and Gas Prices
Do the gas prices frustrate you every time you pull up to the pump? Gas companies are charging
too much for the natural resource that is turned into what we know as gasoline. Gas companies
discourage research and new ideas every year. Afraid of losing the market that they have cornered
they buy patents. This way the patents will never be used and they still have the market cornered.
Ethanol is a much safer and more economical solution to our gas problem. It is cleaner burning
and it can be produced from year to year. Ethanol will allow the United States public to get away
from the corruption of big gas business and finally be able to enjoy better prices at the pump. The
gas companies do not need to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethanol is produced with the help of farmers. It comes from the common cash crop called corn.
These crops are grown throughout the United States and mainly in the Midwest. They can be
produced every year and hauled straight to the local plant. Using ethanol would help these
struggling farmers. The corn prices have been down for some time and the economic help from
using ethanol would be astronomical. Farmers would haul more corn each year because of the
demand that the ethanol plant brings. The demand for grain created by ethanol production
increases net farm income more than $12 billion annually (ethanol info). In the future the
demand for ethanol would be greater which would produce a larger farm income each year.
Ethanol could help the farmers more than anything else. The raise in income would be dramatic
because the use of ethanol today is only minimal and it produces $12 billion in income each
year. The more ethanol used the more the annual income it will produce. This would cause the
corn price to go up and more farmers would be able to stay in business. There would be no more
struggles with foreign nations to get better oil prices. The money that is spent on the imports of
oils from other countries will not be needed as much and hopefully in the future will not be needed
at all. This new and safe energy producer known as ethanol could be produced and manufactured in
the United States. Today, ethanol reduces the demand for gasoline

Basic Element of Just in Time
Basic elements of Just In Time
The basic elements of Just In Time (JIT) were developed by Toyota in the 1950 s, known as the
Toyota Production System (TPS). JIT was well established in many Japanese factories by the
early 1970 s. JIT began to be adopted in the U.S. in the 1980 s (General Electric was an early
adopter), and the JIT/lean concepts are now widely accepted and used. There have ten basic
elements in Just In time which are flexible resource, efficient facility layout, pull production
system, Kanban production control, small lot production, quick setup, uniform production, quality
at the source, total production maintenance and supplier network.
1. Flexible Resources
The Concept of flexible resources, in the form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Small lots with shorter setup times reduced from hour to minuet and it s increase flexibility to
respond to demand changes. Shingo as a genius at the task reduced setup time on a 1000 ton press
from 6 hours to 3 minuets using SMED ( single minute exchange of dies ) system. SMED principle
can apply in separate internal setup from external setup. Its also can convert internal setup to
external setup. Besides that, it can streamline all aspect of setup and perform setup activities in
parallel or eliminate them entirely. 7. Uniform Production
JIT attempt to maintain uniform production levels by smoothing the production requirements on
the final assembly line. Changes in final assembly always have dramatic effects on component
production upstream. When this happen in kanban , kanban for certain part will circulate very
quickly at some times and very slowly at others. Kanban systems can handle +/ 10% demand
changes. One way to reduce variability in production is to guard against unexpected demand
through more accurate forecasts. Another approach to achieving uniform production is to level or
smooth demand across the planning horizon. Demand is divided into small increments of time so
that the same amount of each item is produced each day and item is mixed throughout the day in
small quantities. 8. Quality at the Source
Quality has to be extremely high to ensure JIT system to work well. Jidoka is the authority to stop
production line. Visual

Population Control In Brave New World Essay
Introduction
Intro Strategy Primary assertion
Our society is moving towards a world like that of Brave New World. This is something we should
be looking forward to.
MAIN POINTS

The world that we live in today is already starting to look like that of Huxley envision of Brave
New World. II. Second Topic: Population Control
In the Brave New World s society there was population control

The World State controls the citizens by controlling their fertility. This quote shows the power the
World State has over overpopulation because they are deciding the fertility rates.
C. BBC stated that China s government says the one child policy, officially in place since 1979,
has prevented 400 million births. ii. This is a step forward in Huxley s vision because it is
controlling the number of family members per unite instead of allowing each family to decide on
its own. It controls population growth with the goal to lower population to a stable number.
Alexandra Paul stated that One of the advantages of having only a child in the family is the
opportunity given to the newborn of having a comfortable life. This is because all the attention,
love and financial resources of the parents will be enjoyed by the child. iii. Analysis: Having
population control children would live a better life due to the love they get. They would be more
job opportunity and many people would be content.
D. Our world is already taking steps toward that of Huxley s Brave New World due to the fact that
we are already placing policies like one child policy, which control the world s population.

Elijah The Prophet By Elijah
Elijah the Prophet
I have decided to write my Old Testament essay on the mysterious prophet Elijah. According to
the bible, in the book of Kings, Elijah was not only a devoted prophet of God, but he also served as
a worker who lived in the northern kingdom of Israel, under King Ahab s reign. Elijah is
remembered for his remarkable faith and devotion to God. In writing this essay, I will tell the
story of one the many adventures that occurred in Elijah s lifetime. Of course, there are so many
alterations and rewritten versions of the bible, that I have no idea what to believe. No one truly
knows what happened, for everyone who could have, died long ago. Either way, all the different
versions of the story seem to have the same basic outcome. In telling you this, I will try to
incorporate the information that is mentioned throughout the book, The Old Testament Story, Ninth
Edition (by John H. Tullock and Mark McEntire) and some of what I have been taught myself over
my twenty eight years of life.
It all began when King Ahab, and his deceitful wife Jezebel demanded for their kingdom to
worship the false God of Baal. As a result, they ordered all the prophets of the Lord to be put to
death. Elijah was the only one to survive this horrible purge and went to confront King Ahab. He
told the King that a three year drought would be brought upon Israel. This was to challenge the
people s false prophet, Baal and eventually teach them a very valuable lesson in whose God was
real.

Individualism In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter And The...
The American Romantic era, lasting from early to mid 19th century, is characterized by its
emphasis on emotion and individualism. Within this movement, in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The
Scarlet Letter and Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street, the
characters set at the center of their respective narratives both challenge societal prejudices through
actions different from the social norm. Hawthorne s protagonist, Hester Prynne, is met with disgust
and disdain from the Puritan community after committing only one sin; contrarily, Melville s
Bartleby is first met with awe and love from his boss on Wall Street, working as a copyist. While
Hester goes above and beyond to change her public image, Bartleby burns out, leaving... Show

This woman has brought shame upon us all, and ought to die, (Hawthorne 49). With these harsh
words, Hester begins a new chapter of her life in New England as a condemned adulterer. The
gossips speak of marks and brands upon her bodice and forehead, and one is bold enough to suggest
that she ought to die, demonstrating exactly how hated Hester is at the beginning of the novel.
Hawthorne s statement that the gossip who suggests the worst punishment, death, is the ugliest of
them all infers that all the gossips are very ugly, while Hester remains beautiful, subtly providing a
certain insight that perhaps Hester is not the devil the town thinks she is. This demonstrates how
Hester stands apart from others in society, to such an extreme degree that she even looks different
from the other Puritans. Through the ostracization of Hester, Hawthorne shows how her lack of
motivational individuality has brought this fate upon her. He wants to prove to his reader that lack
of this element creates an unbalanced and isolated life, one of which nobody wants to live in.

Democracy Is A True Democracy
The ideology of a true democracy no matter how great the thought, is dealt with no different than
any other form of government in which it is a race for power. In the classical sense, true
democracy is the equal power of each member of the constituencies; however, practice gives more
power to the members and the line of power gets blurred. To outline it true democracyand practice
differ by the vast levels of power and political roles, political corruptionputting democracy s
interests at risk, and personal interests undermining any actual change. True democracy does not
exist without equal distribution of power between the people and the governmentofficials. In this
matter, democracy s practice gives a greater power to officials over nonpolitician citizens.
Democracy s theory is equal power, but a true democracy would not even include officials whose
power can be used for malpractice. The practice of officials that have more power than people is
considered a democracy more as a Democratic republican to others. In this example, we vote for
the national election to elect the president, however, within this, the electoral college can change
the popular vote by basing their change as to be on behalf of the majority. Thus, citizens don t
have the ultimate power or the choice of who is president. Essentially it is an unfair system such
as in Should the Electoral College be abandoned? Robert F Weinhagen Jr. gives an example that
electors may vote for a presidential candidate

As a result, those companies pay substantially less for health care and enjoy productivity levels
that are the envy of their peers. So why haven t more businesses adopted this highly effective
approach? PARADIGM SHIFT Before business leaders or HR professionals can even contemplate
a fresh approach to controlling health care costs, they have to be open to looking at the facts
surrounding the problem in a new light. In other words, they have to experience a paradigm shift. A
paradigm shift isn t easy to accomplish. As human beings, we are creatures of habit, and we re
accustomed to thinking in established patterns. Moreover, the current way of thinking about health
care costs ВЇ that they re a huge problem individuals can t possibly address in a meaningful way ВЇ
is reinforced by what practically everyone else says about the issue, from politicians to CEOs to
union leaders. Most assume that the problem is intractable and that the only way to deal with it
is to address the symptoms. But there is a new way to think about the problem of health care
costs, a way that puts the problem in a context in which it becomes clear that you can effectively
address it. And the good news is, there s nothing mysterious about it; it s perfectly logical and
based on a principle with which we are all familiar, consciously or not. The key is to realize that

Abstract
The different branches of philosophy are broken down into six different categories. These different
categories answer the many questions that we as individuals ask as we go through the journey of
life. Although these questions are sometimes complicated and at many times are very difficult to
answer at some time we come up with an answer. Even though the answer is not what we would
expect it is the answer that best fulfils our inner thought process that is closely linked to the different
aspects of philosophy. An aspect that we all encounter throughout life is an important one as...

Asphalt shingles are very affordable, versatile, come in a wide variety of colors and are relatively
simple to install, resulting in less labor and lower installation costs. Asphalt shingles also come in
two main varieties: organic and fiberglass. Organic shingles are environmentally friendly and more
tear resistant, while the more common fiberglass shingles offer greater fire protection and improved
resistance to heat and sun exposure.
Signs of Failing Shingles
While there s no substitute for a professional inspection, it s not difficult to spot the need for
shingle replacement. Shingles that must be replaced often appear to be cracked, torn or buckled.
In some cases, they may even be missing entirely. Additionally, shingles begin to shed their
granules as they reach the end of their effective lifespan. They may take on a lighter, bald
appearance, and you ll likely find granules built up in gutters and near downspouts. Finally, even if
your roof has not yet begun to show these signs, it may be time to consider replacement if your
roof is older than about 20 years.

Managing Information Systems Information systems provide the infrastructure and enable
communication for every kind of business in today s global economy. The responsible managers in
charge of these vital systems face several key issues in their efforts to effectively manage corporate

Training employees to perform adaptive maintenance requires constant technical training. It also
requires managers to build employee confidence in nontechnical disciplines such as team building,
online collaboration, and ways to build meaningful relationships with end users. Communicating
effectively with users will provide managers and technical staff with valuable data about the
systems they are administering and the kinds of features that their customers want to see added to
new software builds. Another aspect of training employees for adaptive maintenance is educating
them on the expense of making deep changes to an information system. The responsibility for
keeping maintenance costs reasonable should stay with the manager; however, educating
employees on the financial side of their information system will aid them in determining if a change
is worth making or if they should wait for a major change or upgrade opportunity. Adaptive
maintenance is an effective tool for information systems managers, but the costs of making changes
should always be weighed against the benefits to the organization.

The Problem Of A Economic Crisis
The aim of this report is to understand what happened globally in economy for the last 7 years in
order to build an affective and precise managerial strategy for Global Hotel in to generate
profitability and create a successful business.
What is the meaning of crisis and economic recessions?
Business Dictionary is defining crisis as a situation in witch an economy experiences a sudden
downtown brought on by a financial crisis (BusinessDictionary.com, 2014).
The major sign of an economic crisis is the falling of GDP, the drying up of liquidity and rising or
falling of prices generated by inflation or deflation. One form of economic crisis is the recession.
The National Bureau of Economic Research is defining economic recessions as a significant
decline in economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally
visible in real gross domestic product (GDP), real income, employment, industrial production and
wholesale retail sales . More specifically, recession is defined as when businesses cease to expand,
the GDP diminishes for two consecutive quarters, the rate of unemployment rises and housing
prices decline. (Morah, 2009)
The reasons of world recession?
The actual economic crisis were starting in 2008 with a financial crisis that had spread though the
USA and became quickly almost global, affecting world economy.

Review on the Movie Crash
FILM SYNOPSIS:
In Crash, a simple car accident forms an uncompromising foundation for the complex discovery of
race and prejudice. Paul Haggis overwhelming and incredibly thought provoking directorial debut
succeeds in bringing to the forefront the behaviours that many people keep under their skin. And by
thrusting these attitudes toward us with a highly deliberate, reckless abandon, Haggis puts racism
on the highest pedestal for our review. There is no better place for this examination than the
culturally diverse melting pot of modern day Los Angeles. In just over 24 hours, Crash brings
together people from all walks of life. Two philosophizing black men steal the expensive SUV

Crash is a film of collisions: vehicles, personalities, attitudes, stereotypes, conventions, and
ultimately audience expectations. We crash into each other, just so we can feel something, Don
Cheadle murmurs contemplatively in a clunky opening scene thesis statement that nevertheless
sums up the film s approach as well as its premise.
Writer director Paul Haggis definitely wants you to feel something, and spends the rest of the film
doing his best to blindside your expectations, spin your emotions around and overturn your
preconceptions. The content can be incredibly harsh at times, with constant obscenity and a number
of deeply wrenching scenes. Yet Crash looks at our obsession with raceand raises some sensitive
issues with startling frankness.
Is a man who risks his life to save another any less a hero if he is also a bigot? How do you weigh
one against the other, or average out the two to define the overall moral worth of the man? Neither
detracts from or cancels out the other; they are both simply sheer facts about a person, with no way
to mediate or relate them to one another, other than the fact that they are convincingly predicated of
one and the same person.
Still, the film finds real moral ambiguity in the struggles of a number of characters, above all
Cheadle s detective, who wrestles with various personal and professional issues and above all
wishes to keep them separate. Crash is a provocation,

Bosnia Herzegovin A Rough History
Body: Bosnia Herzegovina has a rough history, especially with its neighboring countries.
Tensions in the Balkans increased after World War II. Bosnia Herzegovina went from a prime
example of cultural unity to the exact opposite due to the dissolution of Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia
was created at the end of World War I, when Bosnian, Croat, and Slovenian territories joined that
of the Serbian Empire. Yugoslavia was split up during World War II, but was once again unified
at the end by Josip Broz Tito. Due to cultural differences, remembrance of WWII events, and the
death of Josip Broz Tito, Yugoslavia, once again, broke up in the early 1990s. My parents were
born and raised in different parts of Yugoslavia, but with the break up of Yugoslavia, and wars
that followed between Bosnia and Serbia, my parents had to escape to Germany (where my
brother and I would soon be born). Growing up I always heard about how great it was to live in a
Yugoslavia that was ruled by Josip Broz Tito, it was a place where people got along with one
another. However, that would soon change. In an essay written by Alan Fraser, he describes the
conditions of Yugoslavia during the time of unity. In his opening sentence he says the first thing I
noticed about Yugoslavia was the ease and honesty, the trust people had for each other, treating one
another like family. The quote speaks volumes, especially coming from a foreigner to the region.

Individual Moralities, Social Responsibilities and...
In the essay by J.S. Mill, Of the Limits to the Authority of Society over the Individual, he claims
that No person ought to be punished for simply being drunk... In the build up to this conclusion, he
offers several explanations for his reasoning, which include individual morality and responsibility,
public interference and establishing precisely where authority over an individualbeings for the
society.
As an individual within a society, you become obliged to follow certain codes of conduct,
regardless of your own individual morals. To maintain a harmonious balance within a society, each
person must behave within a certain code of conduct towards the rest of the individuals and the
society as a whole. Although the code does not ask individuals to change their own morals, it does
ask that they not injure the interests or rights of others. One must also realize that their morals may
differ from that of another individual. Although they may practice their right of freedom by living

The Palestinian Conflict Of The Middle East
Israeli Palestinian Conflict The creation of two sovereign states is the only possibility of a
peaceful end to the conflict over historical Palestine in the Middle East. To achieve this, a third
party must offer enough incentive to both the Arabic and Jewish states and create a sovereign
Palestinian state. This is not a very probable outcome, as the conflict is rooted in the peoples
traditions and beliefs making it much harder to compromise. I predict this conflict will end in
the overwhelming takeover of the Palestinian and Holy Land area by the militarily superior
Israelites and the trampling of the Arab people. Conflict over Palestine and the less well
defined, Holy Land, is deeply rooted in Middle Eastern society. Conflicting claims over the land
have rocked Palestine and the surrounding states for many years. The two key actors in the
Israeli Palestinian conflict include the Jews and the Arabs. Outside actors who also have
influence and interests over the area include Europe, America, and Egypt. Jewish interest in the
Palestinian territory is based either religiously or with the interest of creating a Jewish state.
According to religious writings and tradition, the Holy Land was promised to the Jewish people.
Groups who identify religiously do not necessarily support the creation of a Jewish state. Jews
who do hold interest in the creation of a Jewish state are identified as Zionists. While today s
Zionists continue to call for an end of the diaspora of the Jewish

Problems With Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was a devastating category 5 that made landfall in Buras, Louisiana, on
Monday, August, 25, 2005. It was downgraded to a level 4 hurricane when it made landfall. This
hurricane was extremely devastating for the city of New Orleans 2004 (Haddow, Bullock,

I believe that the largest problem with FEMA and other emergency management agencies in the
United States is with its leadership. FEMA s leadership and direction fall upon the whim of the
United States President. The problem is that they place someone as director in the office with little
to no disaster management skills. These directors would maintain their role until they failed
miserably at the next major disaster. The government must realize that this is a service of
government that cannot be taken lightly that we are constant threat of natural disasters and that
when local or state government cannot provide then it becomes the responsivity of the United
States Government. The person who is chosen to lead this office must have the skills and
experience to deploy resources of the government into communities that need it the most with
affected by disaster. Given the importance of this role the leader must have been granted the

The Susie Scenario Essay
For most people, anxiety is something that occurs occasionally throughout their lives such as, right
before a big meeting, presentation, tests, or a simple medical procedure. Other people are facing
challenges daily due to anxiety; some are diagnosed while others are not. Anxiety includes,
distressingly unpleasant and maladaptive feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and physical reactions.
Students with anxietyoften worry about their competence, even when they are not being evaluated
(Durwin, 467). These struggles affect the performance of adults in their everyday lives and more
specifically; a child s performance in academics. It is the role as an educator, to aid students with
anxiety and other disorders with coping with these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this circumstance, Susie feels over stimulated due to her need for perfection; inevitably causing
her to fall behind on assignments. Someone with severe anxiety splits their attention between their
anxiety and the task, instead of focusing solely on the assignment. This is made apparent through
Susie s lack of assignment completion. She is going through something known as the vicious
cycle. Essentially, Susie becomes fixated on a specific part of her assignment which distracts her
from completing the full project, leading to a poor grade and disappointment from Susie; causing
more anxiety and another incomplete assignment due to the lack of focus. Therefore, Susie cannot
perform at the optimal level. A simple task as mentioned earlier, notetaking; provides everyone with
a tolerance for a higher arousal level. Notetaking is something that can be performed with less
thought, effort, and stress which allows someone with anxiety to partake in the activity more easily.
Provided that Susie s main problems are anxiety, disorganization, and perfectionism; it is important
to design a modification plan that will reduce these symptoms and create an environment that is
more conducive to her learning. To begin, an educator can use the shaping method, inclusive of a
cognitive behavioral treatment and token economy, as a way to control Susie s disorder. Shaping
involves reinforcing small steps that move toward the behavior until the entire behavior is
displayed (Durwin

Lord Byron And William Shakespeare
Since the beginning of time, human beings have found a variety of ways to illustrate their
affections for one another. An intriguing form to present an individual s ideal thoughts across is
the form of poetry, for it displays a deep and mysterious meaning behind the connotation of the
words used. Poetry allows writers to express themselves through the act of writing with the usage
of a few words. However, it is sometimes difficult for a reader to comprehend what the poem is
trying to imply, but that is the beauty behind poetrywhich as a reader, one might have a different
interpretations from another. In an analysis of She walks in beauty by Lord Byron and Sonnet
130 by William Shakespeare, they both have a unique distinction on how the words are used to
project affections to their respective lover. The linguistic style of the poets diverges in their
depiction the physical appearance, emotive feelings, and understanding what the lover means to
them. Lord Byron and William Shakespeare did an incredible job analyzing their counterpart s
physical appearance that was just mind blowing to a reader. Throughout the poem She walks in
beauty by Lord Byron, he uses imagery that allowed him to compare his lover with nature. She
walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that s best of dark and
bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes; Thus mellowed to the tender light Which heaven gaudy day
denies (Lines 1 6).

The Neolithic Era, Or New Stone Age
AR6_SA_U1_L11_LC
Introduction and Objective
The Neolithic Era, or New Stone Age, was a period in the development of human technology.
Traditionally considered the last part of the Stone Age, the Neolithic commenced with the
beginning of farming. Metal tools became widespread, along with the use of wild and domestic
crops and of domesticated animals.
When people think of pottery, they might think of bowls and cups, of eating and drinking. But
pottery can, in fact, be art as well. During the Neolithic Era, most of this pottery was hand built.
These red, gray, and black wares often revealed a craftsmanship and beauty exceptional for their
age.
http://mrg.bz/Tt8E3p
Of course, clay isn t exactly glamorous. Once the crafting of bronze, lacquer, and precious metals
were mastered, the ritual status afforded ceramics declined. Soon after, ceramic shapes began to
imitate those of metal almost as soon as the latter appeared.
There are four main types of Neolithic pottery:
Neolithic soft ware
Djeitun ware
Ismailabad ware
Burnished gray ware
Let s explore these forms of Neolithic ceramics and how they defined the art of the time period.
Today s lesson objective is: The student will learn about Neolithic ceramics.
Take a moment to think about this objective. What learning skills will you use to achieve this
goal? Why do you think pottery was so important to the Neolithic artists? Do you think pottery is
more of a useful tool or an art form? How do you think the Cave

The Application Of Pedagogical Principles
Analyse the application of pedagogical principles in own area of specialism
Pedagogy is a word that is used to describe the art and science of teaching. Pedagogical roles are the
many and varied that a teacher may perform while teaching, such as structuring, soliciting,
responding and reacting. Other roles involve assessing, criticising, discussing, encouraging,
enquiring, evaluating, explain, giving individual instruction, lecturing, organising, presenting,
questioning and answering, repeating and reviewing and team teaching and tutoring etc.
(L.Walklin 2000; pg 175)
In my own specialist area (Maths) I used pedagogic technologies like Power points for delivering
the sessions, and for messages I would use E mail, SMS and Twitter. For assignments I would
prefer my students to use Digital library, E books, Websites and Newsfeeds. Sometimes I give
tasks like Statistical analysis, Data analysis, Spreadsheet, and Search engine to my learners to do
independent work on computers. I also do Computer based assessment tools e.g. multiple choice
questions and quizzes. I also involve my students to design their own Maths posters on specific
topics using computer design tools e.g. Presentation tools and Multimedia presentation.

When considering alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine, it is actually hard to classify them all as the
same thing because they all have their own individual effects on the body. The classmate was
correct when saying marijuana and alcohol have similar effects on behavior, but even then, they
are only similar to a certain extent. Alcohol and marijuana are similar because they both act as a
depressant on the body s nervous system when entered into the blood stream. Both substances
cause the individual to become impaired in one way or another and lose the ability to do some
of the things sober people can do. However, alcohol causes the body to lose balance, alter the
individuals to speak properly, impairs their sleep cycle, and at times causes aggressive behavior.
Marijuana, on the other hand, over activates the cannabinoid receptors causing a disruption of
memory, alters perceptions in regards to sound and movement by slowing it down, and numbing
portions of the body as a whole. When adding cocaine into the equation, that s where the
comparison is thrown off completely. Cocaine does the complete opposite and acts as a stimulant

Essay on The Palace of Knossos
Archaeology gives the modern world a window into the past. One of Greece s major dig sites is

The sanitation drainage used a closed system leading to a sewer away from the hill. The Queen

The toilet was flushed by pouring water down the toilet. In the bathroom there was also a bath
that was filled by buckets of heated water and was drained by overturning a stone covering over
the drain. As the hill was constantly pelted with rain a run off system was vital. Channels were
dug in a zig zag line down the hill to catch the water and take it to the river. Underground channels

In the palace lived many people slaves, royalty, guests and other people. To cater for the huge

Theme Of Colonialism In The Midnight s Children
Through the prescribed framework of magic realism, the novel allows its multitude of characters,
belonging to diverse cultural backgrounds, to appraise and originate their own versions of Indian

communicate the postcoloniality of India, and within its framework, the novelexplores and presents
a postcolonial history of its own. The cultural and social hybridity, along with the historical

Not only are these children obligatory for India s new future, but they remain a mirror for India s
future, illuminating the strengths and weaknesses of an independent India. The Midnight s
Children therefore symbolize the multiplicity and miscellany within postcolonial India.
Conclusion:
Rushdie assumes magic realism as an efficient tool to resolve the problems of post colonialism. So,
by linking and combining historical events, mythological stories and fictional narratives, Rushdie
tries to generate and convey a true picture of Indian post colonialism while the colonizers
considered India and Indians as a colossal place and people, the novel illustrates India s multiplicity
and diversity, in an effort to overturn the colonial representation of India. Midnight s Children is
therefore an attempt to evoke India. All these attempts would have been impossible without the
insertion of magic realism.

economic restructuring. One must understand that history about the gauchos can potentially be
biased. This is due to the fact that only news that is interesting is reported and only bad news is
interesting. This clash of recorded history and actual history causes us to question what actually
occurred during this time period. The gauchos lifestyle suffered greatly because of these social and
economic changes. New institutions, values and beliefs all aided the transformation ... Show more

Gauchos social lives covered many interesting areas. These traditional acts decreased because of the
new laws. Previously, gauchos would roam the pampa, continuously moving onward to unknown
destinations. This freedom became restricted with the invention of the fence. The fence also
impacted other areas of the gauchos lives including economically. The fence forced the change
from a ranching to farming. The need for ranchers decreased, which put gauchos out of work.
These fences also kept animals contained to specific pastures. Before this gauchos would kill
roaming horses for fun, cattle for food and skins, and ostrich for feathers. These fences set
territories that kept the gaucho from wandering freely. Another change that kept the gaucho from
wandering freely involved vagrancy laws. The government targeted to the gaucho and aimed to get
rid of them, or at least tame them. Gauchos now had to carry something similar to a travel permit.
This again restricted their unique lifestyle. Because the government viewed the gauchos as good
fighters, they enlisted many to serve in the military. This impacted their lives socially and
economically. Gauchos social lives slowed down enormously because of the military. They had to
work continuously. Economically they benefited because they no longer had to look for ways to
support their basic needs. The government took care of making them sustain life.

The Thought Of Owning Or Bringing Home A Cute Adorable
The thought of owning or bringing home a cute adorable puppy, or kitten, for the first time can
be an emotional and exciting time for families. Most pets, while they are young, receive lots of
love and attention from children and their owners, but what happens when the pets grow and get
older? Not every pet is brought to or born into a responsible home. Some pets that are no longer
wanted, are left behind or dumped out of town because it is easier than finding them a new home.
According to PETA, 6 million cats and dogs enter an animal shelter every year in the United States,
pets that are abandoned. The city of Raymondville TX, needs to open a local animal shelter to help
prevent animal abandonment and the over population of pets and... Show more content on

That a lot of kitties! Dogs will have 4 the 1st year, 12 the 2nd year, and 36 the 3rd year (SPCA).
This also depends on the size and breed of the dog; large dogs can carry more puppies. So, it s
important to have pets spayed and neutered, at least after 2 litters. According to Hill County Paw
Pals, the root of pet overpopulation stems for irresponsible people who allow their pets to
remain unsterilized, run at large, and to breed at will. Lately, Raymondville has had an increase
of strays, mostly dogs that roam around from house to house. It used to be just out of town
where people would leave or dump their dogs, puppies, old dogs, and pregnant female dogs. It s
unfortunate that some owners feel they cannot provide, or find, pets a new home, and thus
throw them away. Right now, there is nothing being done to the irresponsible owners and the
abandoned dogs. The local dog catcher can only hold up to 8 dogs which are given 3 days to be
claimed or they will be put down to make room for other dogs. The local veterinarian, Dr.
Pickard, passed away 3 years ago. He was the number one guy the locals would turn to for
vaccinations and general surgeries. Now residents must go to Harlingen or farther to get their pets
vaccinated and taken care of. That being said, it would help to have a local animal shelter or the
cooperation of

Centuries have gone by and throughout the many years, humans have relied on the land to provide for Humans, they need to evolve, survive, and move forward with their lives. The land provides for humans in a non costly manner. The land provides humans free shelter. For example, Humans use the dirt we walk on to build shelter. One bullet, just one single bullet can kill not one, but two people (humans). Such as a match, one small, simple thing can cause a wildfire, creating a huge amount of damage. The Earth is very, very important. The land that connects to the Earth is also important. The land is our life so we should take care of our land. This is why we have this amazing bond with the land that we are living on. Every person on Earth shares the responsibility to do as much as they can to preserve the planet s finite natural resources today and for future generations. Natural resources are those components of the environment which are inherently created by environment for supporting life. These resources are very essential for sustaining life on earth. These resources are available in the form of air, water, mineral, soil, forest, plant, energy etc. Many people might disagree, why we don t have the connection between the land and us is because you may say that I don t see it , of course people might not see it, many people would either be distracted by the things around us and we as the ... Economic Crisis Stabilization in the Wake of Economic Crisis Perhaps the most significant reason Pittsburgh was able to recover from the collapse of steel was the decision, made early on by city officials and local developers, to seek out new industries rather than cling to the vestiges of the old. Beginning in 1981, the Allegheny Conference (ACC), a non profit coalition of local business and political leaders, made economic diversification their primary goal. The conference established a committee whose sole task was to promote new industries. The committee s chairman said, at the outset, we must diversify...this time we must build new industries, new jobs. Over the next decade, the ACC helped secure financing for development projects throughout the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Symbolic of the success of that initiative, in 1990, Pittsburgh succeeded in capturing a $370 M investment in from the Sony Corporation to build their two newest television manufacturing plants. Overall, these measures to stabilize Pittsburgh s economy were remarkably successful. Between 1982 and 1990, Pittsburgh s employment rate dropped 12.6% (from 17% to 4.6%). For the remainder of the decade, the unemployment rate hovered В±0.5% compared to the national average. Thus, the successes of the late 1980s gave Pittsburgh had the breathing room to pursue longer lasting, economically sustainable reform. New Pittsburgh (1986 Present) Much of the success of the mid/late 1980s were the result of massive economic stimulation measures rather than organic growth. Therefore, after the city recovered from the collapse of the early 1980s, city officials and local developers continued their plans for further economic development. City officials used the successes of the late 1980s as a springboard to create the highly diversified economy necessary for sustained economic growth. • 4. Ethanol and Gas Prices Essays Ethanol and Gas Prices Do the gas prices frustrate you every time you pull up to the pump? Gas companies are charging too much for the natural resource that is turned into what we know as gasoline. Gas companies discourage research and new ideas every year. Afraid of losing the market that they have cornered they buy patents. This way the patents will never be used and they still have the market cornered. Ethanol is a much safer and more economical solution to our gas problem. It is cleaner burning and it can be produced from year to year. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethanol is produced with the help of farmers. It comes from the common cash crop called corn. These crops are grown throughout the United States and mainly in the Midwest. They can be produced every year and hauled straight to the local plant. Using ethanol would help these struggling farmers. The corn prices have been down for some time and the economic help from using ethanol would be astronomical. Farmers would haul more corn each year because of the demand that the ethanol plant brings. The demand for grain created by ethanol production increases net farm income more than $12 billion annually (ethanol info). In the future the demand for ethanol would be greater which would produce a larger farm income each year. Ethanol could help the farmers more than anything else. The raise in income would be dramatic because the use of ethanol today is only minimal and it produces $12 billion in income each year. The more ethanol used the more the annual income it will produce. This would cause the corn price to go up and more farmers would be able to stay in business. There would be no more struggles with foreign nations to get better oil prices. The money that is spent on the imports of oils from other countries will not be needed as much and hopefully in the future will not be needed at all. JIT was well established in many Japanese factories by the early 1970 s. JIT began to be adopted in the U.S. in the 1980 s (General Electric was an early adopter), and the JIT/lean concepts are now widely accepted and used. There have ten basic elements in Just In time which are flexible resource, efficient facility layout, pull production system, Kanban production control, small lot production, quick setup, uniform production, quality at the source, total production maintenance and supplier network. 1. SMED principle can apply in separate internal setup from external setup. Its also can convert internal setup to external setup. Besides that, it can streamline all aspect of setup and perform setup activities in parallel or eliminate them entirely. 7. Uniform Production JIT attempt to maintain uniform production levels by smoothing the production requirements on the final assembly line. Changes in final assembly always have dramatic effects on component production upstream. When this happen in kanban , kanban for certain part will circulate very quickly at some times and very slowly at others. Kanban systems can handle +/ 10% demand changes. One way to reduce variability in production is to guard against unexpected demand through more accurate forecasts. Another approach to achieving uniform production is to level or smooth demand across the planning horizon. Demand is divided into small increments of time so that the same amount of each item is produced each day and item is mixed throughout the day in small quantities. 8. • 9. Elijah The Prophet By Elijah Elijah the Prophet I have decided to write my Old Testament essay on the mysterious prophet Elijah. According to the bible, in the book of Kings, Elijah was not only a devoted prophet of God, but he also served as a worker who lived in the northern kingdom of Israel, under King Ahab s reign. Elijah is remembered for his remarkable faith and devotion to God. In writing this essay, I will tell the story of one the many adventures that occurred in Elijah s lifetime. Of course, there are so many alterations and rewritten versions of the bible, that I have no idea what to believe. No one truly knows what happened, for everyone who could have, died long ago. Either way, all the different versions of the story seem to have the same basic outcome. In telling you this, I will try to incorporate the information that is mentioned throughout the book, The Old Testament Story, Ninth Edition (by John H. Tullock and Mark McEntire) and some of what I have been taught myself over my twenty eight years of life. It all began when King Ahab, and his deceitful wife Jezebel demanded for their kingdom to worship the false God of Baal. As a result, they ordered all the prophets of the Lord to be put to death. Elijah was the only one to survive this horrible purge and went to confront King Ahab. He told the King that a three year drought would be brought upon Israel. This was to challenge the people s false prophet, Baal and eventually teach them a very valuable lesson in whose God was real. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Individualism In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter And The... The American Romantic era, lasting from early to mid 19th century, is characterized by its emphasis on emotion and individualism. Within this movement, in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter and Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street, the characters set at the center of their respective narratives both challenge societal prejudices through actions different from the social norm. Hawthorne s protagonist, Hester Prynne, is met with disgust and disdain from the Puritan community after committing only one sin; contrarily, Melville s Bartleby is first met with awe and love from his boss on Wall Street, working as a copyist. Hawthorne s statement that the gossip who suggests the worst punishment, death, is the ugliest of them all infers that all the gossips are very ugly, while Hester remains beautiful, subtly providing a certain insight that perhaps Hester is not the devil the town thinks she is. This demonstrates how Hester stands apart from others in society, to such an extreme degree that she even looks different from the other Puritans. Through the ostracization of Hester, Hawthorne shows how her lack of motivational individuality has brought this fate upon her. To outline it true democracyand practice differ by the vast levels of power and political roles, political corruptionputting democracy s interests at risk, and personal interests undermining any actual change. True democracy does not exist without equal distribution of power between the people and the governmentofficials. In this matter, democracy s practice gives a greater power to officials over nonpolitician citizens. Democracy s theory is equal power, but a true democracy would not even include officials whose power can be used for malpractice. The practice of officials that have more power than people is considered a democracy more as a Democratic republican to others. In this example, we vote for the national election to elect the president, however, within this, the electoral college can change the popular vote by basing their change as to be on behalf of the majority. As an individual within a society, you become obliged to follow certain codes of conduct, regardless of your own individual morals. To maintain a harmonious balance within a society, each person must behave within a certain code of conduct towards the rest of the individuals and the society as a whole. Although the code does not ask individuals to change their own morals, it does ask that they not injure the interests or rights of others. One must also realize that their morals may differ from that of another individual. Although they may practice their right of freedom by living according to their own morals and beliefs, they must still attempt to live within this social code of conduct. Furthermore, it becomes the responsibility of one s self to ensure they are respecting the benefits given to them as a part of the society. The Palestinian Conflict Of The Middle East Israeli Palestinian Conflict The creation of two sovereign states is the only possibility of a peaceful end to the conflict over historical Palestine in the Middle East. To achieve this, a third party must offer enough incentive to both the Arabic and Jewish states and create a sovereign Palestinian state. This is not a very probable outcome, as the conflict is rooted in the peoples traditions and beliefs making it much harder to compromise. I predict this conflict will end in the overwhelming takeover of the Palestinian and Holy Land area by the militarily superior Israelites and the trampling of the Arab people. Conflict over Palestine and the less well defined, Holy Land, is deeply rooted in Middle Eastern society. Conflicting claims over the land have rocked Palestine and the surrounding states for many years. The two key actors in the Israeli Palestinian conflict include the Jews and the Arabs. Outside actors who also have influence and interests over the area include Europe, America, and Egypt. Jewish interest in the Palestinian territory is based either religiously or with the interest of creating a Jewish state. According to religious writings and tradition, the Holy Land was promised to the Jewish people. Groups who identify religiously do not necessarily support the creation of a Jewish state. The Susie Scenario Essay For most people, anxiety is something that occurs occasionally throughout their lives such as, right before a big meeting, presentation, tests, or a simple medical procedure. Other people are facing challenges daily due to anxiety; some are diagnosed while others are not. Anxiety includes, distressingly unpleasant and maladaptive feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and physical reactions. Students with anxietyoften worry about their competence, even when they are not being evaluated (Durwin, 467). In this circumstance, Susie feels over stimulated due to her need for perfection; inevitably causing her to fall behind on assignments. Someone with severe anxiety splits their attention between their anxiety and the task, instead of focusing solely on the assignment. This is made apparent through Susie s lack of assignment completion. She is going through something known as the vicious cycle. Essentially, Susie becomes fixated on a specific part of her assignment which distracts her from completing the full project, leading to a poor grade and disappointment from Susie; causing more anxiety and another incomplete assignment due to the lack of focus. Therefore, Susie cannot perform at the optimal level. A simple task as mentioned earlier, notetaking; provides everyone with a tolerance for a higher arousal level. Notetaking is something that can be performed with less thought, effort, and stress which allows someone with anxiety to partake in the activity more easily. Provided that Susie s main problems are anxiety, disorganization, and perfectionism; it is important to design a modification plan that will reduce these symptoms and create an environment that is more conducive to her learning. To begin, an educator can use the shaping method, inclusive of a cognitive behavioral treatment and token economy, as a way to control Susie s disorder. Shaping involves reinforcing small steps that move toward the behavior until the entire behavior is displayed (Durwin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Lord Byron And William Shakespeare Since the beginning of time, human beings have found a variety of ways to illustrate their affections for one another. An intriguing form to present an individual s ideal thoughts across is the form of poetry, for it displays a deep and mysterious meaning behind the connotation of the words used. Poetry allows writers to express themselves through the act of writing with the usage of a few words. However, it is sometimes difficult for a reader to comprehend what the poem is trying to imply, but that is the beauty behind poetrywhich as a reader, one might have a different interpretations from another. In an analysis of She walks in beauty by Lord Byron and Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare, they both have a unique distinction on how the words are used to project affections to their respective lover. The linguistic style of the poets diverges in their depiction the physical appearance, emotive feelings, and understanding what the lover means to them. Lord Byron and William Shakespeare did an incredible job analyzing their counterpart s physical appearance that was just mind blowing to a reader. Throughout the poem She walks in beauty by Lord Byron, he uses imagery that allowed him to compare his lover with nature. She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes; Thus mellowed to the tender light Which heaven gaudy day denies (Lines 1 6). Alcohol and marijuana are similar because they both act as a depressant on the body s nervous system when entered into the blood stream. Both substances cause the individual to become impaired in one way or another and lose the ability to do some of the things sober people can do. So, by linking and combining historical events, mythological stories and fictional narratives, Rushdie tries to generate and convey a true picture of Indian post colonialism while the colonizers considered India and Indians as a colossal place and people, the novel illustrates India s multiplicity and diversity, in an effort to overturn the colonial representation of India.
