Essay On Residential Schools
Crafting an essay on the subject of residential schools is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor.
The topic is not only historically sensitive but also emotionally charged, as it delves into a dark
chapter of human history. To tackle such an essay, one must navigate through a plethora of
complex issues, including the cultural, social, and psychological impacts of residential schools on
indigenous communities.
Researching this topic requires a deep understanding of the historical context, exploring the
establishment, operation, and eventual closure of these institutions. The writer must grapple with
the devastating consequences experienced by indigenous children, such as cultural assimilation,
loss of language, and the profound intergenerational trauma that continues to affect communities
today.
Moreover, the essay should address the systemic issues that allowed residential schools to exist,
acknowledging the role of government policies and societal attitudes that perpetuated these
harmful practices. This requires a comprehensive examination of archival documents, survivor
testimonies, and scholarly perspectives.
The emotional weight of the topic adds an extra layer of difficulty. Writers must strike a balance
between conveying the gravity of the situation and maintaining an objective and respectful tone.
Empathy is crucial, but it's equally important to present the facts accurately and analytically.
In conclusion, composing an essay on residential schools demands a commitment to thorough
research, a nuanced understanding of historical and cultural contexts, and a delicate approach to
handling sensitive subject matter. Only with a careful and considerate approach can one hope to
do justice to the complexity of this topic.

Airline Deregulation
Airline Deregulation act of 1978
Aston A Samms Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
Abstract
The United States Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 was a dramatic turning point in
America. It was the first systematic dismantling of a comprehensive system of
government control since the Supreme Court declared the National Recovery Act
unconstitutional in 1935. It was also part of a broader movement that, with varying
degrees of thoroughness, transformed such industries as trucking, railroads, buses,
cable television, stock exchange brokerage, oil and gas, telecommunications, financial
markets, and even local electric and gas utilities. Since the Airline Deregulation Act
of 1978, the airline industry has experienced significant growth, ... Show more

Today the hub and spoke concept is used at most major airports throughout the
United States such as Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas. The new system allows air
travelers two key concepts in air travel. The first, experienced by those that live in
close proximity to the central hub, saw a significant increase in both flights
available and service areas. The second key point is with air travelers that live near
the spoke or regional areas of the routes. Those near the spokes have gained
hundreds of new destinations with the new system. By traveling from the serving
airports to the hubs air travelers are able to reach destinations on servicing or
regional airlines that would not have existed prior to deregulation.
Although there was a deregulation of the airline industry, the one significant
component that did not change was the infrastructure of the airline industry.
Constrained by the limitations of the airports and the air traffic control system,
airlines did not see significant increases in profits despite the large growth and
operations. As the airlines increased the number of flights and structure, the air traffic
control system did not experience the same increase. Because the ATC system was
still controlled and owned by the government, growth was, and continues to be slow.
Each year the Department of Transportation goes to Congress to request more
funding for increases in budgets to pay the salaries of more controllers and to
improve ATC technology. To
Aristotle Vs. Aristotle s Rhetoric And Dialectic
In Rhetoric, Aristotle states, Let rhetoric be [defined as] an ability, in each
[particular case], to see the available means of persuasion (Kennedy, 2007, p. 37).
Aristotle is saying that rhetoric is not just the art of persuasion through speech. He
was saying that rhetoric is the art of discovering the methods of persuasion
available in all situations. This relates to the goal of many figures in the current
day political climate. This goal is to discover methods of persuading as many people
as possible as often as possible. A politician s use or rhetoriccan be compared to
Aristotle s study of rhetoric in that both utilize the artistic proofs and practice the
three species of rhetoric. Aristotle s definition of rhetoric closely matches the goals
of modern politicians, and so rhetoric has become ingrained into our modern day
political process.
Aristotle views rhetoric as the counterpart to dialectic, and points out several key
differences. Aristotle says that both rhetoric and dialectic begin with endoxa , or
reasoning from a commonly held belief or opinion (Herrick, 2016, p. 71). Both
rhetoric and dialectic must be based on a logical argument. Rhetoric takes that
argument and adds elements of the speaker s character and emotions, creating a
more diverse method of persuading an audience. Dialectic favors a fact based
dialogue and does not rely on the speaker s character and emotions. Rhetoric and
dialectic are both methods of addressing questions. These questions do

A tri component attitude model consists of three major components as affect,
cognition and conation. It is implying that Disneyland in Hong Kong has the unique
attraction towards the customer. The first part of this model refers to cognition that
is knowledge and perception that are acquired by a combination of the attitude
object and related information from different sources. With reference to visiting

c) People change their attitudes, so companies should be aware of it. They should go
forward with changing environmental. As the current life style attempts to look for
healthy food, it could be good crossing over from the existing to the new ones with
dried fruit and some corns.
d) As a production manager I will add such attributes as vitamins to breakfast cereal,

An Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 Essay
An Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 116
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116, denying Time s harvest of love, contains 46 iambic, 15
spondaic, 6 pyrrhic, and 3 trochaic feet. Like the varying magnitudes of stars that
distinguish the sky s constellations, infused with myths describing all degrees and
types of love, the spondaic, trochaic, and pyrrhic substitutions create a pattern of
meaning that can be inferred by the discerning eye and mind. Shakespeare
emphasizes his denial of the effects of Time on love by accenting not in lines 1, 2,
9, and 11, and no in lines 5 and 14. The forceful spondees at the beginning and the
regular iambic feet at the end of each quatrain progressively build the poet s
passionate rejection of love s transience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
the quality and duration of love reciprocated, without additional information.
The meanings of the poem s brilliantly varied iambic lines revolve around love s one
fixed star, extending this image to the whole sonnet. Quatrain 1 begins with the
unusual scansion of spondee, trochaic, iambic, pyrrhic, and spondee. No matter how
unusual the situation, Shakespeare will not object to mutual love between honest
people. Furthermore, their love should not depend on circumstances or people s
opinions. The iambic foot of Which alters links across the poem to the spondee of
Love alters in Quatrain 3. The abrupt trochaic, even, in line 12, reinforces the
importance of reciprocity in love, for love to be eternal. Moreover, the word bears
alludes to the myth of the enduring love of Callisto and her son, Arca, as
represented by the constellations of Ursa Major and Minor, with the North Star at
the point of the tail of Little Bear. Quatrain 3, with a ratio of 15 regular to 5
irregular feet, begins with 2 spondees followed by 8 iambic feet. This sequence of
regular feet evokes the sweep of Time s sickle, alluding to the far reaching arc of
the tail of the Great Bear cutting through and reaping the love legends linked to such
constellations as Virgo ( rosy lips and cheeks ), Gemini ( looks on tempests ), and
Andromeda and Perseus ( impediments to the marriage of true minds ).
Unlike the quatrains, the final couplet begins quietly with iambic and pyrrhic feet.

Moonshine In Southern Appalachia
Southern Appalachia is located in the Eastern United States cultural region. It
stretches from the southern part of New York to northern Alabama, Mississippi and
Georgia. This cultural region in the Eastern United States relies heavily on moonshine
and the distribution of moonshine. Moonshine is illicitly distilled or smuggled liquor.
Other words that are common when speaking of moonshine is white lightning,
mountain dew, hooch, homebrew, and white whiskey. The making and distribution of
moonshine has helped shape the literature, music, and environment of Southern
Appalachia while the Whiskey Rebellion and the Prohibition helped lead moonshine
to its part in the Southern Appalachian society today. Moonshine is an essential part

The answer to this problem was to put a federal tax on liquors and spirits, like
moonshine, white whiskey, hooch, mountain dew, etc. For these early moonshiners,
making and selling alcohol wasn t a hobby or a way to make extra cash it was how
they survived (Grabianowski). Moonshine is typically made with corn mash.
Moonshine was once banned under the 18th Amendment to the United States
Constitution. However, the liquor controlled laws forbid moonshining focus
mainly on evasion of revenue taxation on spirituous and intoxicating liquors, and
are required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives of the
United States Department of the Treasury (Wikipedia). The enforcers of these
laws are known as revenooers or revenuers. Early in American history, these federal
agents were attacked when they came around to collect the tax on liquors and
spirits, and a number of them were tarred and feathered (Grabianowski). These
problems arose with the federal agents, or the revenuers because they were trying to
make these moonshiners and farmers pay taxes on their profit, interrupting their
income and profit of making and selling alcohol. Moonshine became a part of the
daily life of these citizens because of the money being made, having to pay the tax
would risk being able to feed their families and make a living. Moonshine was an
essential part of American history because of the profit that came with it and then the

Summary Of How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents
The utilization of style makes How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia
Alvarez an arduous book to read. John s right hand played piano on her ribs, and
his mouth blew a piccolo on her, Alvarez writes, using metaphor to describe a sex
scene between Yolanda and her husband, John (76). The author s vivid description
is frivolous and supports neither the plot nor the specific event within the story.
Next, Alvarez s syntax is emphasized in the excerpt: The hills begin to plane out
into a high plateau, and the road widens. Left and right, roadside stands begin
appearing. Yolanda keeps an eye out for guavas. Piled high on wooden stands are
fruits Yolanda hasn t seen in years: pinkish yellow mangoes, and tamarind pods
oozing their rich sap, and small cashew fruits strung on a rope to keep them from
bruising each other. Strips of meat, buzzing with flies, hang from the windows of
butcher stalls (Alvarez 13). The elongated wording and imagery of How The
Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents takes a detour from the actual plot, which makes
the book difficult to comprehend. In addition, Alvarez applies symbolism by using
the quote: These baby monkeys were kept in a cage so long, they wouldn t come
out when the doors were finally left open. Instead they stayed inside and poked
their arms through the bars for their food, just out of reach (149). The Garcia girls
will always be tied to the Dominican Republic just like how the monkeys are with the
cage. The example of symbolism
The Downside Of Teleporting In Star Trek
Teleportation
An Introduction to Teleporting
Beam me up, Scotty!
When Star Trek was first released in 1966, teleportation was only a dream. Now a
days, people are claiming that future generations as soon as great grandchildren will
be able to teleport with ease. There are, however, many things that Star Trek hasn t
prepared fans for, and although there are many perks to teleportation, people need to
weigh in the risk factors as well. The pros may sound promising but, the cons
tremendously outweigh them.
The Downside of Teleportation
This paper could go on and on about the definition of life or crap like that, however
that would be a large waste of time and space. So, with that in mind, this paper shall
continue on wayward.
First of all, by teleporting, all of the atoms in the human body would essentially
deconstruct and then reconstruct in a new place. With all of this assembling and
disassembling taking place, an issue that needs to be brought up and spoken about
is whether or not there would be any mixed up body parts as a complication. While
the body is disassembling, the heart would temporarily stop beating and the person
would die . However, the person would not really die. The body would continue on
with life . It would just be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No more super slow text messages being sent in a group chat. Just teleport that
information right over to anyone of choosing. No telling when this will actually be
possible, but it certainly does seem worthy of trying out. The speed of light transfer
of the encoded information from one photon to another demonstrates the possibility
of secure communication between a network of remotely located quantum computers
in the future.[3] This could lead to more secure networks on the governmental level
(if used properly) and maybe it could be open for the public to use in the more distant
Walmart Minimum Wage
No firm in the world matches the economic imprint of Walmart. The retailer, based
in Arkansas and known across America for its vast supercenters and low prices, is
known as the world s largest company by revenue. Its 2.2m worldwide workforce is
about the same size as China s army. Sam Walton built his empire with a relentless
focus on costs: Control your expenses better than your competition. This is where
you can always find the competitive advantage, he said. (1.) In April 2015 Walmart
abruptly raised the wages of its lowestВpaid staff: all now earn at least $9 an hour.
On February 1st it rose to $10 an hour for trainedВup workers fully oneВthird higher
than the federal minimum wage. The change is curious, because in the past... Show

But the firm now says that higher wages come before price cuts: You clean up your
house before you invite people over, argues Mr McMillon. (4.) Wage rises are
certainly denting profits. Walmart s share price barely moved when they were first
announced in February last year, suggesting that investors thought them immaterial at
first. But in October the firm warned that it expected profits to fall by 6В12% in
2017, with higher wages responsible for threeВquarters of the shortfall. Following
that announcement, the share price fell by 10% its biggest oneВday drop since 1988.
It seems that minimum wage has the edge in that argument. A transfer from capital
to labour, though, is precisely what campaigners want to achieve. A more potent
criticism of higher wages is that they cause job losses. And on January 15th
Walmart announced that it would close 154 stores in America, with the possible
loss of 10,000 However not every firm would find it easy to copy Walmart. Wages
only cost retailers 9.5% of their revenues. In the foodВandВdrink industry a prime

Poehler Antique Mall In Empori Unpacking The Object
1.Unpacking the Object
What is this object? An antique wooden chair
What does the object look like? Antique, old, worn wood. There are curvy edges
on the backrest portion. The wood is very worn on the seat part, and there is a lot
of dust on the chair. The right side of the chair is broken in a jagged break.
Where did you obtain this object? I found this at the Poehler Antique Mall in
Emporia, KS. The antique mall is located on Commercial Street.
Where can you find similar objects? At this antique store, there were tons of old chairs
. You could find more there. I would assume that a lot of antique stores have old
pieces of furniture like this chair. There are probably a lot of these types of chairs in
older style homes. They could be found in table and chair sets, or they could be
possibly found in a church.
What is it made of? Wood and screws.

I found this object because I like upcycling. Taking old antique items and turning
them into something more modern and useful. I think restoring an object and making
it personal to yourself.
Who or what does this object represent? I think this object represents middle class
people. Often the middle class is overlooked and are considered average. This chair
is overlooked too because it is a piece of furniture that almost everyone has, and we
don t often think about how the chair got there or how the chair was made. I think
this is similar with a lot of people in the world. Many people go unnoticed. I hope
that by adding color to this old chair, will be like the colorful personalities many
people have, which makes them stand out above others.
What does this object mean to you? I became invested in this chair, I spent a lot of
time and money on this project. I hope the chair will add a new style to my room. It
means something special to me because I took something old and gave it a new look,
but the object still does the same

Abstract
Low back pain (LBP) is a prevalent complaint of pain for patients, with the severity
ranging from discomfort to disabling. Various chronic low back paintreatments exist,
one of which is the osteopathic spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) using high
velocity low amplitude (HVLA) techniques. This case report shows that osteopathic
manipulative treatment (OMT) provides pain reduction and improvement in vertebral
functioning. It also aims to summarize literature that supports the use of HVLA in
LBP and to know when to use SMT ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While some researches found that HVLA spinal manipulation is effective, others
found that there are no statistical significant differences between itand placebo
treatment. The exact mechanism for SMT remains unclear. Early work on SMT
reveals patients have a change in EMG activity after treatment. It is proposed that
SMT releases fascia adhesions in the joint, reduces distortion on the vertebral joints,
and reduces stress in the surrounding soft tissues. It is suggested that it changes
neurophysiological responses and normalizes how the body processes proprioceptive
affereent input. Perhaps once a more precise mechanism of SMT is determined, it
could give more insight to why it is a potential treatment for

How Did Djoser Build A Tomb Structure In Early Dynastic...
Many changes were made to funerary architecture as the years progressed. In Early
Dynastic period, the elite members of society would be buried under a tomb
structure called a mastaba. Inside the mastaba would be a sealed room for the ka
statue of the departed. This room is called the serdab. These funerary structures
would often be arranged together into a necropolis and would be faced towards the
direction of the setting sun. One of the most impressive necropolises is Djoser s

be one story, but later decided to expand and created a Step Pyramid. Royal families
and government officials became wealthier in the Old Kingdom and this was evident

Types, Diagnosis, And Treatment
Candidiasis
Introduction
Candidiasis refers to the fungal infection caused by any Candida which is a form of
yeast. There are more than 20 species of candida yeast that might cause illnesses in
people, but the common Candida species is the Candida albicans (Hospenthal
Rinaldi, 2015). However, the yeasts are found in small amounts in the mucous
membrane and skin, and they do not cause infection, but the overgrowth would lead
to infection. Specific drugs and health issues may cause the yeast to overgrow
especially in warm and moist body parts leading dangerous symptoms. The signs and
symptoms of candidiasis depend on the part of the human body that is infected
(Contreras Fuentes, 2013). Health centers in many nations have reported that
Candida species cause fungal infections leading to hospitalization of patients. The
paper focuses on candidiasis by exploring its causes, epidemiology, types, diagnosis
and treatment as well as prevention measures and risk factors. The thesis of the
paper is that candidiasis is a fatal disease that can lead to defects and even death.
Epidemiology
In the United States, Candida is the third cause of nosocomial bloodstream diseases
accounting for about 8 10 percent of the cases. Moreover, three quarter of females in
America experience vaginitis during their life with 25 percent caused by Candida
(Contreras Fuentes, 2013). The invasive candidiasis is the prominent infection among
all fungal diseases since it accounts 70 to 90 percent of

Symbols In Lord Of The Flies Essay
Many symbols have been brought to light while reading the book, Lord of the Flies.
Symbols usually represent different things in some cases, but in this book they all
tie around one thing, the downfall of civilization on an island. There has been
symbols such as, the beastie, the conch shell and even the beast head, that have all
been used to represent one thing. To begin, the beastie was by fat one of the biggest
symbolsused to portray downfall of civilization in the book. The beast had turned
young, proper British boys into ruthless savages. As the book talks more about the
beastie , we get more animal like behaviors coming from the group of boys,
especially Jack s tribe. There was many different perceptions of the beast, and its

Ultimately, I ve come to a conclusion that the Lord of the flies represent the Devil
in many ways. In chapter 8, when the Lord of the flies speaks to Simon he says
this, I m warning you. I m going to get angry. D you see? You re not wanted.
Understand? We are going to have fun on this island. Understand? We are going to
have fun on this island! So don t try it on, my poor misguided boy, or else. The Lord
of the flies already foreshadows and guarantees death upon Simon. This reminds me
of then Jesus and Satan come face to face on a rock, which was the ultimate test.
This test was used to see if Jesus, the true Son of God, will fail, and go with Satan,
or forget the temptations, and do what s right. Jesus, like Simon, did not fall into
the temptations of Lucifer. Causing them later on in their life to die. Why is it the
good people die before the bad? Why is it that those who sin greatly, and choose to
worship Satan tend to live longer and more successful? But those who believe in

The Wrongful Discharge From Employment Act
Question Presented
Under Montana s Wrongful Discharge from Employment Act (WDEA), does Anton
Chigurh have a claim for wrongful discharge when he signed a one year employment
contract containing an at will provision and his employer, Carla Moss, offered him a
lesser position with lower pay to accommodate a contract with a returning employee?
Brief Answer Probably no. In order to establish a claim for wrongful discharge,
Chigurh would have to prove that (1) the employment contract for a specific term
does not bar his suit; (2) that he was constructively discharged; and (3) that Moss did
not hold good cause in terminating his employment. Here, the Professional
Employment Contract for Specific Term held an at will provision, making it not a
contract for a specific term, which will allow Chigurh to bring suit. Chigurh being
moved from executive chef to line chef coupled with a $17,500 pay reduction will
likely prove so intolerable that the only reasonable option was to quit, resulting in
him being constructively discharged. However, BWO will likely be able to prove
Chigurh was terminated for good cause either because employers have more
discretion in terminating managerial employees, or for the financial factors
associated with not performing the agreement with Wells.
Statement of Facts Carla Moss hired Carson Wells to be the executive chef at Blue
Winged Olive Bar Grill (BWO) in 2003. Moss relied heavily on Wells and contributed
much of BWO s success to him. Moss
Yeezus Kanye Analysis
Intro
Yeezus is probably best summed up by the first sound you hear after turning it on. A
deafening distorted synth assaults your ears while Kanye reminds us that he s
number one. This overwhelming introduction was specifically chosen by Kanye for
the purpose of conveying the themes of anger and frustration that will appear
throughout the album. It s marked by songs where Kanye declares himself a God and
moments of the most extreme egoism in modern music.
Ye is...shockingly different. It begins with a quiet passage of what I think is
manipulated vocals creating a simple, relaxed melody. Kanye starts rapping about
something we ve never really heard him discuss before: his internal monologue. It
sounds calm, like a warm summer morning. Kanye isn t yelling, he s not telling us
how much of a legend he is. Instead he s painting a picture of his struggle with
mental illness. So how the hell are these two albums related? Despite the massive
chasm between them in production, lyricism and presentation...I see them as two
sides of the same coin and together they create a beautiful narrative about who
Kanye is as a person. Let s learn more. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Case Study of Singapore
Introduction
Singapore has long built its economy on its strategic positioning for trade. The
country is now home to the world s second largest container port according to the
World Shipping Council (2013). The country s position as a leading trade makes it a
natural place to find solutions to global supply chain issues, and has also encouraged
a significant amount of foreign direct investment in the country. Foreign companies
have set up shop in Singapore, often in either services or retail. This paper will
analyze some of the issues that foreign firms dealing in Singapore have with respect
to global supply chain management.
Case Study #1: Starbucks
Starbucks has a significant retail presence in Singapore, but it also benefits from
the country s geographic position in a couple of ways. The first is that Singapore
is situated in the heart of a fertile coffee growing region critical islands like Java,
Sumatra and New Guinea are nearby, as are high volume growing regions like
Vietnam. Starbucks has set up a regional distribution center in Singapore in order to
manage the flow of goods and services throughout Asia, both in terms of raw
materials and finished goods.
Changi Airport Group (2013) notes that Starbucks is one of many Western countries
to have such a regional distribution center. With stores throughout Southeast Asia, the
coffee company can organize its goods in Singapore for onward distribution, either
overland to Malaysia and Thailand, or over sea to Indonesia

proves himself a temperamental, twisted character in William Shakespeare s play,
Hamlet. The Prince of Denmark conveys his facetious demeanor with his behavior
and sharp tongue, especially in scenes with Ophelia and Gertrude. Although Hamlet
s situation is difficult and easily sympathized by viewers, his aggression should
ultimately be focused on his murderous uncle. Initially the reader can understand
Hamlet s anger with Gertrude when she marries his uncle. O, most wicked speed,
to post / with such dexterity to incestuous sheets, says Hamlet in disgust towards
his mother s marriage (1.2.161 12). Gertrude did marry the king s brother quickly
after his death, so any resentment Hamlet feels towards his mother is justified. The
reader sympathizes even more with the character when Hamlet says of the union, It
is not, nor it cannot come to good. / But break, my heart, for I must hold my tongue
(1.2.163 164). It appears that Hamlet is attempting to be respectful towards his
mother, so it s easy to appreciate his character in the beginning. Hamlet seems to be
kind towards Ophelia when Polonius reads Hamlet s love letter. Hamlet professes to
Ophelia, Doubt thou the stars are fire, / Doubt that the sun doth move, / Doubt truth
to be a liar, / But never doubt I love (2.2. 124 127). Unfortunately, these words
towards Ophelia mean nothing. In response to Ophelia returning his love letters,
Hamlet responds with, I never gave you aught (3.1.105). Any hint that Hamlet truly
loved Ophelia is undermined when he outright denies writing those letters to her.
Hamlet further insults Ophelia when he says to her, Or if thou wilt needs marry,
/ marry a fool, for wise men know well enough what / monsters you make of them
(3.1.149 151). Absolving himself from any accountability for his moody
temperament, Hamlet instead puts the blame on Ophelia. Similar to Ophelia,
Gertrude experiences her son s ill demeanor when during their conversation in her
bedroom. After killing Polonius, Gertrude responds with, O, what rash and bloody
deed this is (3.4.33), a statement which perfectly captures the crime that Hamlet
committed. Again Hamlet takes

To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell and Our Love Now by Martyn
Lowery both see men trying to use methods of persuasion to get what they want. How
successful are they?
I have recently studied To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, written in the 17th
Century and Our Love Now by Martyn Lowery, written in the 19th century. Attitudes
to love have changed a lot since the 17th Century. When To His Coy Mistress was
written, men were in charge of the relationship. It would take a lot longer for this
relationship to progress than it would today. The man would court the woman for
months before anything progressed. He would write her letters and poems, and then
eventually, if he loved her, he would ask her to marry him. They... Show more

but she says There is always a scar.. implying the wound in their relationship is too
deep to mend fully. In this poem it seems like she has the final word. It is a modern
poem about love.
Marvell uses different methods of persuasions. He bombards her as the poem is very
long and has no stanzas, so she has to keep reading and listening to his arguments. He
has also divided the poem into three sections. The first section is about him
romancing and flattering her.
He shows his love for her by using time, place and exaggeration. Had we but world
enough, and time / This coyness, lady, were no crime. shows Marvell using time. He
is telling the woman that if they had all the time in the world her shyness would not
matter. They by the
Indian Ganges side / Should st rubies find: I by the tide / Of Humber would
complain. This shows Marvell using place and distance to persuade her. He tells
her that she could sit by the Indian Ganges, and he would sit by the Humber in
England and wish for her. He then goes on to say, that if she wishes; she can keep
him at arms length, and that his feelings will wait until she is ready. This makes
her feel that he is not pressuring her in to anything she does not want to do.
Marvell uses a lot of exaggeration, for example I would / Love you ten years before
the flood.. He is referring to the bible, making him seem religious and that he
supports the religious beliefs of sex after marriage,
Hotel Organisation
Hotel Organisation
I. Hotel divisions.
Organisational Missions
Every organisation has a reason or purpose to exist. Its purpose forms the basis for the
organisation s mission. An organisation s mission can be expressed in a mission
statement. A mission statement defines the unique purpose that sets one hotelor hotel
company apart from others. It expresses the underlying philosophy that gives
meaning and direction to hotel policies. Hotel employees may derive a sense of
purpose from a well conceived mission statement. For example, a hotel s mission
may be to provide the finest facilities and services in the market while providing a
good place to work for its employees and a reasonable return on investment to the

Although procedures may differ from hotel to hotel with regard to reservations
handling, maintenance, processing, and confirmation, the purpose is still the same:
to accommodate guest requests in a manner that maximises hotel occupancy and
room revenue. Computers can be programmed to provide reservations agents with
information on the types of rooms available (including room rate, view, furnishings,
amenities, and bed size) for a given day. Some computer systems can even provide
agents with the exact room number if necessary. Computers can provide reservations
agents with a great deal of information on the hotel, some of which should be
provided to the guest on request. Computers have helped transform reservations
agents into true salespeople. Reservations agents should convey the desirability,
features, and benefits of staying at the hotel, rather than simply processing an
accommodation request. It is no longer satisfactory for a reservations agent to defer
to the front desk to determine a room s rate at registration. Reservations agents should
confirm the rate over the telephone at the time the guest makes the reservation. In
fact, most guests requesting a reservation will not book a room without receiving a
confirmed rate. The agent should reinforce the guest s decision to stay at the property
and thank the guest for his or her business. It is essential for reservations
Essay On Machine Learning Classifiers And Feature
Extractors
3.Methods and Experimental design
Our approach is to analyse the sentiments using machine learning classifiers and
feature extractors. The machine learning classifiers are Naive Bayes, Maximum
Entropy and Support Vector Machines (SVM). The feature extractors are unigrams
and unigrams with weighted positive and negative keywords. We build a framework
that treats classifiers and feature extractors as two distinct components. This
framework allows us to easily try out different combinations of classifiers and feature
extractors.

Repeated letters Tweets contain very casual language. For example, if you search
hungry with an arbitrary number of u‟s in the middle (e.g. huuuungry,
huuuuuuungry, huuuuuuuuuungry) on Twitter, there will most likely be a
nonempty result set. We use preprocessing so that any letter occurring more than two
times in a row is replaced with two occurrences. In the samples above, these words
would be converted into the token hungry .
Table 2 shows the effect of these feature reductions. These reductions shrink the
feature set down to 8.74% of its original size. Table 2. Effect of Feature Reduction

Media Effects On The Media Essay
Assignment One: Question B Many people believe that we are not affected when
watching television (TV), however many experts feel we are constantly affected
by the media whether we think we are or not. Theorists believe that too much
media exposure can lead to knowledge, attitudes or behavioural changes within a
society, this is called media effects (Kuehn, Media Effects ). These media effects
consists of several Paradigms, a Paradigm is described as a typical pattern or
model (Kuehn, Media Effects ). The Paradigms this essay will consist of are called
the New Effects Paradigm and the Powerful Effects Paradigm . The New Effects
Paradigm is based largely upon correlations instead of causes, where as the
Powerful Effects Paradigm is based on persuasion and a passive audience that the
media can have an enormous effect on (26). In the 1950 s, Frederic Wertham
embarked on a media effects study through comic books. He found that the pictures
depicting horror and superhero genres had violent and sexual connotations that were
understood to have a negative impact on younger viewers (Buettner et al. 95).
Recently, there have been numerous discussions that too much TV can affect young
children s behaviour. The articles titled TV is making children unhappy and NZ s
little thugs are just a few of these examples. In the first article titled TV is making
children unhappy the author, Sarah Griffiths, builds on a discussion based on the
ideas of children developing
Benefits Of Genetic Engineering
The field of genetic engineering is an incredibly growing one and it proves to be a
topic of constant controversy. Some believe it to be beneficial to humanity, while
others argue that it poses a threat. Several documents have been published, and
experiments tested to support both sides of the spectrum, but follow of the trend
of supporting genetic engineering. While certain aspects put some moral codes
into question, genetic engineering is beneficial to humanity because will lead to a
more understanding and capable society, can be used as a route to incredible
possibilities, and it provides people with better opportunities. Many who attempt to
take a stance on genetic engineering are unaware of what it actually is, and
therefore are unable to make a proper argument. There have been several instances
in which a debate has taken place over the topic, yet half of those who participated
did not have a proper understanding of it. In a study taken place to measure the
general biomedical and genetic literacy in the U.S and Europe, results showed that
the US came in at the middle rank of 28th among the 34 countries studied (Source
F). From this it can be concluded that many of those who attend these sort of events
are not entirely informed and if they were to be informed it would lead to an overall
sense of understanding. Therefore, genetic engineering is beneficial in the way that
it will allow for people to be able to have more capability. Geneticsis a field where the
The Events that Happened on December 13th
This research paper is about the events that happened on December 13th. I will take
you through sum very interesting events that happened on this date, which is also
my birthday. Personally I didn t know that there were events like this that happened
on this day. It was very interesting what I learned during this research project. I will
be able to take the knowledge that I absorbed by doing this project with me through
high school, college and eventually a career that fits me.
My first topic is an avalanche that many soldiers died in because they were fighting
for their country. This takes place in the time of WWI. This particular avalanche
killed an estimate of 9,000 soldiers who were in its path. Witnesses say the
avalanches were sometimes used as a weapon to kill the enemies on the mountain,
soldiers that survived say the condition on the mountain was worse than the actual
fighting itself. The French and Russians were against the Germans and Austrians.
Most of the battle camps were set up directly under unstable snow, so whoever was
in there at the time of the avalanche, they would have died. Only a few people were
found out of thousands of soldiers in the battles.
Another interesting event was the capturing of Saddam Hussein. Operation Red Dawn

We believe all companies have weakness, but in reviewing the case we are having a
hard time identifying these weaknesses. Market opportunities exist with continuing to
promote the company at boat shows and bidding on demands from the military and
law agency. Another marketing opportunity is using with exist resources to focus on
a new innovation for small scale terrorist operations, a significant new area in naval
warfare and the Army s planned replacement for bridge erection boats.
We agree that McCarty external threats are the stagnant economy and existing rivals.
McCarty must be careful with decision to expand with the current slow pace of
economic recovery. McCarty never had to lay off employees before and wanted to
keep this trend. Existing rivals expansion may nibble at McCarty s current clients
depending on McCarty s strategic decisions.
5. What is your assessment of Silver Ship s financial performance and condition? Is
the company in good financial shape? Why or why not. Use financial rations to help
support your assessment.
Silver Ships is in a mediocre financial condition as of 2009. From 2006 to 2009
Silver Ships increased net sales by five million dollars. Silver Ships net income
dropped during the recent recession, but began to grow again in 2009. Return on
equity also dropped during the recession but began to climb in 2009.
Persuasive Speech On Adopting Animals
A dog isn t just simply a dog. A dog is a best friend, a companion, a detective, a
guide, a gift, and much more. So why would people mistreat their dogs? People
still don t know the answer to this question. Commercials have been trying to shine
some light on the public about the issue at hand. The issue includes people
adopting animals and not being able to care for them. If we take it one step
forward, we are also worried about people abusing an animal. A couple
commercials in my mind have done an outstanding job in spreading the message of
knowing if you are responsible enough to adopt an animal. A commercial that caught
my eye is called Gift . Gift starts off with a man driving a very nice car up to a house.
The man seems to be well dressed. The music in the background is very happy and
you can tell the man is happy as well. I can infer that it is cold outside by the way the
people are dressed and how there are no leaves on the trees and it is gloomy. He then
gets out of the car and picks up a little girl. The little girl has red hair and is carrying
a stuffed toy dog. The man hugs the little girl and puts her in the car with him. The
man shares some food with the little girl, which suggests that they like each other and
get along.
In the next scene, there is a woman with a different little girl that is blonde. The two
are drawing and enjoying themselves. I can infer that the older lady is the mother of
the younger one due to the older lady giving the younger one a
Last Day Of School
The last day of school was a good day. Instead of having to take an ELAR exam we
did PSP. On the last day I had ELAR for 4th and 5th period. I didn t have to do
anything. Since we didn t have to take a test we got to play games and mess around.
The day went by really slow, but I was fine with that. I was having fun messing
around and playing board games with my friends. At last, I heard the bell ring.
I walked outside of the classroom and heard a lot of noise. Everyone was so excited
that school was over. After school, I went to Top Golf with my friends. I had a
blast and then went back to my friends house and swam. The next day was my
birthday party. My friend, Grant, and I have birthdays around the same time, so we
decided to have a birthday party together. I was turning 13 and Grant was turning 14.
I had my birthday party at a place called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area
where you can play a ton of different games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had
a lot of fun, but I was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow
which was good. It seemed like each day was 48 hours. A month later, time started to
go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have 25 days instead of 31 days. I
went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go to a place in
Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake Travis. It
was cool and interesting to see the fireworks over the lake. This trip felt like it went
An Analysis Of The Short Story The Veldt
In the short story The Veldt the Hadley s live in the futuristic Happylife home
where the house does everything for them. Meanwhile in the modern world, a
scientist in Switzerland has invented two devices that could reverse paralysis.
Technology is advancing fast as society is trying to reverse paralysis, which may
be a blessing or a detriment to the world, similar to the innovations in the short
story The Veldt . The Veldt The Hadleys live in the advanced housing unit called
the Happylife home, which does everything someone would do on a day to day
basis for them. The populace of the world could agree that something could go
right or wrong with using that kind of technology. The Hadley children have a
nursery that shows images based on their thoughts, therefore the African veldt
appears in the room. Everyone in the world would probably like to live in the
Happylife house if they could. In the house is a nursery where it s controlled by
the users mind, which is an advantage to the Hadley parents because they can see if
there is something wrong with their kids psychologically. The Hadley family has
life going easy for them in the house, there is a machine that does every task in the
house for them. They whole family loved the idea in the beginning of the story.
Nevertheless with all great technology there has to be some weighty drawbacks.
Human relationships is irreplaceable, but that s exactly what the house is doing to
the Hadley s as Lydia Hadley says The house is wife and mother now and
nursemaid........Can I give a bath and scrub the children as efficiently or quickly as
the automatic scrub bath can (Bradbury). The children, Peter and Wendy, do not
need their mother anymore and it is tearing Lydia apart so much she wants a
vacation away from the house that she and her husband bought so they wouldn t
have to do anything. The nursery has crystal walls that play images controlled by
the user s mind. When the parents, George and Lydia, go into the nursery and see
Africa everything becomes realistic and they can feel the sun, smell the grass, etc.
The nursery has disadvantages for the children as George and Lydia can see an idea
of what is going on with their children s mind. As

However, the infectious agent, although most highly concentrated in nervous tissue,
can be found in virtually all tissues throughout the body, including blood (http:/
/news.bbc.co.uk). Scientists believe that BSE is transmitted from animals to humans
when humans eat meat contaminated with nervous tissue from infected animals.
However, milk and milk products are not believed to pose any risk for transmitting
mad cow disease to humans. Experiments have shown that milk from mad cow
infected cows has not caused infections (http://www.emedicinehealth.com).
BSE can be transmitted from one human to another through cannibalism or through
transplantation of infected tissue. Consequently, certain human blood products and
blood donations are not accepted from people who have lived in areas of the world
where BSE outbreaks have occurred in cattle. BSE has been shown to be
transmissible by blood transfusion in an experimental model using sheep. The U.K.
surveillance unit for vCJD has also reported three cases of vCJD that occurred as a

Water Quality And Contamination Of Drinking Water
Water Quality and Contamination
Introduction
Body Paragraph #1 Background: Humans use about 75 gallons of water a day for
activities, such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, and laundry. Not only do we use
water for our own well being but we also use water to keep animals that we eat
healthy and maintain vehicles that we drive on an everyday basis. Only three
percent of the water on earth is suitable for drinking, where two percent of water is
found only in glaciers and ice and one percent of the world s water is accessible and
drinkable. The majority of the human body is compromised of water. An adequate
supply of safe drinking water is one of the major prerequisites for a healthy
life...(Fawell and Nieuwenhuijsen 2003) The quality of drinking water and possible
associated health risks vary throughout the world with some regions showing, for
example, high levels of arsenic, fluoride or contamination of drinking water by
pathogens, whereas elsewhere these are very low and no problem.
Body Paragraph # 2 Objective: The purpose of this experiment is to compare the
effect of plant growth and biodiversity. I want to know the effect that water has on
growth when it is contaminated, purified, or at its original state. With water being
the major prerequisites to a healthy life I want to know what would happen to me or
other species if I were to drink contaminated water or continue to drink the bottled
purified water instead of drinking tap water.
Body Paragraph # 3
The Day
Paul ignored my sadness as I helped Kat pack her things for college. When she was
out of sight I forced frowns, slumped shoulders and heavy sighs, but it was like I
was invisible to him. That or Paul was completely content with having an empty
house again and wasn t going to let me ruin that for him. Eventually I blurted it out as
we stood in the kitchen. Paul s back was to me. He was heating up a plate of leftover
lasagna. I m going to feel so empty when she s gone, I said. Paul turned around and
patted my back as if I were a child having a tantrum. I stared at my husband in awe as
he walked to the kitchen table, sat down and started shoveling the steaming meal into
his mouth.
When Paul suggested throwing a party once Kat was moved into her dorm room
because we deserved it, because this was somehow a milestone for us too, I shut it
down. But that first week with Kat gone I felt so anxious, I thought my body
would start an uncontrollable tremble and eventually just shatter. I d drive to the
human society where I held a part time volunteer position and forget whether or
not I shut off the coffeemaker. In my mind, our house would be in flames and
when I arrived home after lunch, there would be nothing but piles of black wood
with our green metal roof having collapsed on top. I called Paul at his office every
day once I pulled into the parking lot of the animal shelter and he d sigh, his voice

How Does Richard Wright Use Concrete Diction
Richard Wright s writing style from The Street reveals the changes in attitude
through the use of parallelism, concrete diction and conversational diction. In the
third paragraph, shortly after the narrator was being beat up twice, Wright writes: I
yelled, pleaded, kicked...they yanked me to my feet, gave me a few slaps, and sent
me home sobbing. The use of parallelism here indicates that the narrator s attitude is
weak due to words like, Pleaded, yelled, and sent me home sobbing and then later on
shifts to the narrator s new attitude (which would be aggressive) due to the last
paragraph where Wright writes: I fought to lay them low, to knock them cold, to kill
them... which would infer that the attitude changed from to aggressive.
Lasse Hallstrom s Choolat And La La Land Summary
Dreams are only fulfilled in fantasies. In Lasse Hallstrom s Chocolat and Damien
Chazelle s La La Land, both authors explore the importance of sacrifice, drive and
perseverance in achieving one s dream in spite of all the obstacles. Through the use
of imagery of colour, characterisation and setting, Hallstrom and Chazelle share
insight on what it is like to have a dreamin today s society, that there are many
obstacles for disheartening, but that all the hardships are worth it.
Judgement and criticism were concepts far too familiar to Hallstrom and Chazelle s
characters, Vianne and Mia. Hallstrom suggests that from the moment that Vianne
entered into the French town, she was looked down upon. From the way she dressed,
her personal beliefs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ve got to follow my own plan. Stay here. Get my own thing going. Vianne was
always on the move, creating chocolate and happiness. To continue pursuing her
passion of creating chocolate and following the practices of her mother s people,
she had to move from location to location calling neither home. Mother and
daughter were fated to wander from village to village, dispensing ancient cacao
remedies, travelling with the wind. With every shift in location, she had to leave
behind the life she had built there, beginning with abandonment of her father who
one morning, awoke to discover that Chitza and the little girl Vianne had gone
away. At a young age, Mia chose to move to Los Angeles in hopes to fulfil her
dreams of becoming a successful actress. However, it was later evident that the
project she became successful in required her to go to Paris. Whether it be love,
home or family, the authors show the different sacrifices that need to be made in
order to fulfil a dream.
Colour is an important image in both Chazelle and Hallstrom s texts. Throughout La
La Land, Chazelle incorporates an abundance of bright colours in the backdrop and
the clothing. However, after travelling five years into the future, the characters are
dressed in darker and duller outfits. Chazelle s use of bright colours suggests the
feeling of having hope, dreams and fantasy whilst the duller colours imply maturity
and the reality of life. Hallstrom also uses imagery of colour to describe the
A Snapshot Of The Village Life During Bronze Age Vietnam
Dongson Drums: A Snapshot of the Village Life in Bronze Age Vietnam
Thesis Statement: Although many scholars believe that the feathered figures on the
drums are depictions of ancestor figures, ethnographic evidences from the Karen s
use of the drum and the Toraja s funeral rites suggest that the images engraved on the
drums are mere portrayals of village life in Dongson.
Located in the Hong (Red) River valley, the Dongson society is said to be highly
dependent on water for agricultural purposes. Some examples of images on the drum
that portray farming activities include villagers pounding rice with hand pestles and
water buffalos working the fields. In his article, Bernet Kempers offers ethnographic
evidence to the use of kettledrums by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rice harvest usually is situated before the ceremonies to provide more food to the
attendees. Processions accompanied by rhythmic sound of gongs are also involved in
moving a tau tau from one place to another. From these, similarities of the Toraja
funeral ritual to the images on the Dongson drums are quite apparent. The images
of houses on stilts with boat shaped roofs seen on some Dongson drums are similar
to the clan houses at Tana Toraja. A large number of livestock animals such as pigs,
water buffalos, and goats are also depicted on the drums. As mentioned before,
activities related to rice harvest such as pounding of rice are portrayed. Rhythmic
drum accompaniments and feathered dancers also appear on the tympanum of the
Dongson drum. In her article, Maria Christou affirms claims that the Toraja is closely
related to the Dongson. She states that most of the art produced by the Toraja
including beadwork, carving, textile, and painting reflects the designs of the Dongson
drums. Thus it is safe to say that the scenes on the Dongson drums may correspond to
ceremonial rites similar to Toraja funerals.
The real question that needs to be answered though are about the feathered human
like figures riding elaborately decorated boats, and whether or not they are ancestor
figures, which would indicate that the Dongson people are some kind of ancestor
cult. The popular opinion is that these feathered ancestors guide the deceased to

Colonial American Culture
It will not be an exaggeration to say that before the American revolution, the territory
of the future United States was occupied by a vast number of people of various
cultures and origins. The matter is that the colonial period of the development of
America was tough enough, incorporating a considerable amount of changes and
transformations. Needless to say that the latter was due to the process of unification
of the cultural peculiarities and traditions of the four continents such as Europe,
Africa, South America, and North America. It goes without saying that this period
gave rise to an era of freedom. In fact, the relationships of the Americans and the
Europeans was primarily based on the desire to trade with Asia. However, it turned
out to become a struggle for power of the two empires, striving to colonize, conquer
and exploit the New World. The matter is that the inhabitants of those territories were

The conflict of interests between the Stuart monarchs Charles I and James I and
Parliament led to the English Civil War in the 1640s. This long running battle arose
from religious disputes about how fully the Church of England should distance its
doctrines and forms of worship from Catholicism. The conflict also developed over
the respective powers of the king and Parliament, a debate that produced numerous
invocations of the idea of the freeborn Englishman and led to a great expansion of
the concept of English freedom. (Foner 85). In general, the last decade of the
seventeenth century was full of crises. The were a vast number of struggles between
free and slaves, rich and poor as well as representatives of various religious
communities. The frightening truth is that the most terrible conflict took place in
southern New England between the Indian alliance and the
Diabetic Foot Analysis
7 Tips to Care for Your Diabetic Feet
Your diabetic foot problems could land you in the hospital.
There are two serious complications that affect those who suffer from diabetes, poor
circulation and nerve damage. A simple blister or cut on the foot can quickly
progress to a serious infection due to the numbness and lack of feeling that results
from nerve damage and poor blood flow. Neuropathy, which is chronic nerve
damage caused by the disease, can produce cracked, dry skin which provides an
opening for bacteria to enter and cause infection.
Foot infections caused by diabetes can range from a doctor s visit for antibiotics if
caught early enough, to undergoing an amputation of a toe or foot. For people who
suffer from diabetes, a vigilant daily inspection is crucial to the overall health and
wellbeing of your feet.

This can cause a serious foot infection. Always wear shoes or some form of
protective foot covering to reduce the risk of a foot injury.
Keep your feet clean and dry Wash your feet every day with warm water and a mild
soap making sure to first test the water temperature with your hand. Do not soak your
feet and when drying them, don t rub, but pat each foot with a towel. Also, make
sure to be careful while drying between your toes.
Moisturize dry, cracked feet Use a good, thick lotion to keep the skin of your feet
soft and moisturized as this prevents cracking and decreases the risk of infection. Don
t put lotion between the toes.
Trim toe nails straight across Don t cut the corners or down the sides of the toe
nail. Use an emery board or nail file to shape toe nails and if you find an ingrown
toenail, make an appointment to see a podiatrist. Proper medical care is important in
preventing infections for those with
Pros And Cons Of California Town Hall Meetings
A California town is being threatened with a lawsuit over a 12 hour prayer rally
held outside the city hall for a 6 year old girl who was shot last week, and for an
upcoming town hall meeting at a property belonging to a Christian organization. City
mayor Anthony Silva received a letter from the American Humanist Association and
Stockton Area Atheists and Freethinkers, telling him that the prayer rally held at a
public property violated the Constitution. The rally was dedicated to the 6 year old
child who was wounded in gunfire aimed at the car she was riding with her mother.
The mayor had organized the rally in hopes of ending homicidal violence, of which
the little girl was 40th victim. My city had its 40th homicide. So we are in desperate
need of immediate action. Residents want something... Show more content on

Mayors and other public officials cannot use the machinery of the state to push their
religious agendas. Using the state to promote prayer violates the Establishment
Clause of the First Amendment and alienates community members of minority
faiths and of no faith, AHA senior counsel Monica Miller said in a statement. The
letter also complained that the town hall meetings should not take place at
properties of Christian organizations such as of Christian Life Center, where it is
set to take place on November 30. There is similarly no secular purpose for holding
town hall meetings in religious Christian venues, especially when there are ample
secular government venues available. And clearly, there is no secular purpose in
having a city sponsored town hall meeting hosted by a Christian organization. The
city s rejection of the alternative of wholly secular [venues] makes it very clear that
its purpose of holding the town hall meetings in churches is

Analysis
Julia Alvarez In the short story Liberty by Julia Alvarez, the author uses figurative
language to create tone of mystery and fear. In the fourth paragraph, the author
writes how they were afraid; for example, when the narrator states, On their faces
when they talked of leaving there was a scared look I also couldn t understand, the
reader is left wondering why they are so fearful. The author does this to help set the
tone and mood of the story. The author also uses the characters to show the tone of
the story. Mami is frightened and mean, while Papi is brave
Ir The Enemy Of My Enemy
Iran: The Enemy of My Enemy
The United States and Iran have one of the most complicated diplomatic
relationships in the world. In its desperate hunt for oil in the mid to late 20th century,
the US government tried to secure its interests in the oil rich Middle Eastern states,
in some cases, creating wars and problems that have lasted decades. In 1953, the CIA
helped overthrow Iran s democratically elected Prime Minister, Mohammed
Mossadeq, and replaced him with Shah Reza Pahlavi, who supported American oil
interests in Iran. In 1979, the Iranian people overcame the Shah, and in response,
the US, UN, and other western countries, imposed multiple sanctions against Iran,
deeply hurting the country s economy and people. Now though, more than 30 years
later, the US and Iran may be brought together by a common enemy of ISIS; an
Islamic militant group based in Northern Iraq and Syria, that has been violently
attacking Westerners, and people of religions other than Sunni Muslim. The US
should take this opportunity to mend diplomatic relations with Iran, because Iran
cannot singularly be blamed for the actions that caused a cooling of relations. The
present association and mutuality of the two countries is rare, and Iran can help
America s interests in the Middle East. Firstly, it is important to understand the
history of the American imprint in Iran. US backed leader Mohammed Reza Pahlavi
reigned from 1941 to 1979, apart from a brief stint in the early 1950s ( US Iran ). In

An Analysis of the Lincoln Electric Company Harvard Case Study by Arthur Sharplin
By: Lauren N. IngramThe Lincoln Electric Company was a legacy company from
which the families personal values were incorporated in the beginning and continue
to be the fundamental beliefs compromising the company s culture. By creating and
implementing a culture of service, respect, and loyalty, the Lincoln Electric Company
has become an institutional leader in American business standards. Lincoln s culture
cannot be summarized by a single dimension of cultural analytics because of its
multifaceted culture that is innovative, outcome oriented, people oriented, and team
oriented The founder, James F. Lincoln used his Christian upbringing as the basis for
his vision of how he defined entrepreneurial success. The customers needs are first
priority, the employee second, and the stockholders are last. Quality and cost
efficiency are the two most important factors considered in their product engineering
and manufacturing. The hierarchy is stringent, however, the culture of the company is
greatly people oriented. This company has a strong culture that is instilled in new
employees from the beginning and continuously practiced by every member of every
facet in the organizational structure. To understand the morals of the founder, one
must understand the basic fundamentals of the Christian faith. Christians believe that
the teachings of Christ, as found in the New Testament of the King
Status Symbol Of The Gang MS-13
For a law abiding citizen, the status symbols of the gang MS 13 seem peculiar. To
be a high ranking member or, at the very least, a valued member of the group, one
must have a high kill rate. The more you kill, the more precious you become to the
group; they know they can count on you to defend their turf and thus you earn
yourself a higher place on the metaphorical gang ladder. Similarly speaking, the
more turf you defend by killing rival gang members and anyone who threatens your
control of the area, the more land you can mark up with MS 13 graffiti. Although
this may be considered more of a group status symbol, I believe the concept still
applies. Another status symbol in MS 13 is tattoos showcasing your time in prison. If

A normal citizen s core values may be family oriented, and MS 13 s values are
similar to an extent. The gang, although callous, do seem to care for one another
that is, unless they betray the organization like the female in the film who was
killed by her gang member friends for telling the police gang secrets. Despite this,
like already stated, when a gang member dies, they get a mural painted in their
honor spray painted illegally, of course. With that being said, the film covered very
little on how the gang s members treat their actual blood families; however, I do
wonder about the dynamics since gang members are constantly at risk of being
sent to prison or being deported. I also wonder that if when a gang member has a
child, is that child then part of the gang, or do they get to decide, and do they still
have to be beat in? It comes as no surprise, but gang members have vastly different
values when it comes to concepts like killing and fighting. Killing is their job and
they treat it as such but this does not excuse their actions in the slightest. Along with
this, instead of going through the government, state, county, city, or region to own
land, the gang members acquire land in unjust ways such as turf wars with rival
gangs that end in fights or murder. On a different note, unlike in a normal American
society,
Two Teachers In Our Day Out By Willy Russell
Our Day out
Our Day Out is a written play by Willy Russell that reflects on the life the lower
class of England live, also addressing the progress class children that aren t given
any chances to develop themselves and get a real shot at life. This is all represented
through a day out. The play is dramatic and at times comedic. There are two teachers
in the play, both with contrasting personalities,Mrs Kay a very lenient and kind
teacher, and Mr.Briggs a firm, strict teacher. During this short essay I will be

Creation Of The Sistine Chapel s Accomplishments
In 1508, Pope Julius II wanted a geometric ornament and the placement of twelve
Disciples in spandrels (spaces between two arches) around the decoration to cover
up the original blue ceiling covered in stars. The task was asked to thirty three year
old sculptor, Michelangelo, who although at the time did not want to paint the
ceiling, proposed the idea of old testament stories along the ceiling. The first stories
showcased are The Creation of the Heavens and Earth, The Creation of Adam and
Eve, The Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, and the story of Noah and the Great
Flood. When the painting was first begun, the painting, The Deluge, showed multiple
figures that were small in size that had very complex stories.

Gianluigi Colalucci, Maurizio Rossi, and Piergiogio Boretti. In 1979, a chemical
compound, AB 57, was tested on the East Wall. AB 57 is a calcium dissolving
solvent, a solution made up of ammonium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate,
desogen (anti fungal acid), and carboxyl methyl cellulose, which is then dissolved
in water, developed by Professor Paulo and Laura Mora. It was made to remove
insoluble salts and materials that had been incrusted into the paintings, and ended
up being able to bring very bright colors into the painting. When the AB 57 was to
be applied, it would have to sit for three minutes, and then taken off by washing it
with water. Following that it would dry for twenty four hours, and this application
process would be repeated again. Another chemical called B 72 was also used to seal
the walls lunettes (Ancestors of Christ), but this process was quickly thrown out. As a
way to ensure that the restoration would remain the way it is, an intricate climate
control system was designed to protect the frescos from air pollution, heat, and
Comparison Of Banquo And Fleance
The sun began to set on the hills and darkness crept across the land. It was not just
the darkness of night coming, it was also from black clouds that were invading the
sky. A strong wind started blowing and lighting started to flash across the sky. In that
very moment , Fleance and Banquo felt threatened. The stormwas a warning about
danger to their lives. Banquo and Fleance decided to return back to the castle which
was like a dark mountain in the distance. They rode quickly but because of the strong
windand the amount of lightning going around Banquo and Fleance, the horses got
tired very easily.
Fleance looked very pale. He was young, only about fifteen and was not used to the
sounds of battle raging in the sky. But Banquo on the other hand was a soldier who
had seen many wars. The explosions of thunder and flashes of lightening did not
scare him. He looked at Fleance with a comforting solid bright stare. The flaming
sphere had completely disappeared from Banquo and Fleance s sight when suddenly
three men riding a horse as fast as the wind came rushing towards them. When the
three men got closer they stopped. Fleance and Banquo was relieved because they
looked like normal civilians who had come to help them get back to the castle.

Questions On Financial Accounting Standards
According to the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting
Standards Codification Topic 230 (ASC 230), cash flows are classified in the
Statement of Cash Flows (SCF) as cash flows from operating, investing, and
financing activities. ASC 230 replaced FASB Statement No 95 (SFAS 95). This
paper will discuss certain problems in SFAS 95 that continue to exist. Certain related
cash flows are classified differently because of inconsistencies and ambiguities in
classification. Further, the indirect method is widely executed while the direct
method discloses more cash flowinformation. This paper alerts users to make more
informed assessments of cash flow information with regards to the subtotals from
operating, investing, and financing activities. This paper also suggests the FASB
require the direct method for reporting purposes to improve investors and creditors
judgment accuracy. At the same time, this paper provides users ratios to assess the
quality of income to make more informed decisions. ASC 230 requires that
companies provide the SCF for each operational period. The SCF provides
information about cash and cash equivalents, and classifies cash receipts and cash
payments as resulting from operating, investing, or financing activities (Nurnberg
1993). The measurement of the SCF is considered as being more reliable and more
objective than the measurement of the income statementbecause the latter involves
more judgment about accruals, allocations, and

Essay On Residential Schools. Essay On The Effects Of Residential Schools PPT

  • 1. Essay On Residential Schools Crafting an essay on the subject of residential schools is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The topic is not only historically sensitive but also emotionally charged, as it delves into a dark chapter of human history. To tackle such an essay, one must navigate through a plethora of complex issues, including the cultural, social, and psychological impacts of residential schools on indigenous communities. Researching this topic requires a deep understanding of the historical context, exploring the establishment, operation, and eventual closure of these institutions. The writer must grapple with the devastating consequences experienced by indigenous children, such as cultural assimilation, loss of language, and the profound intergenerational trauma that continues to affect communities today. Moreover, the essay should address the systemic issues that allowed residential schools to exist, acknowledging the role of government policies and societal attitudes that perpetuated these harmful practices. This requires a comprehensive examination of archival documents, survivor testimonies, and scholarly perspectives. The emotional weight of the topic adds an extra layer of difficulty. Writers must strike a balance between conveying the gravity of the situation and maintaining an objective and respectful tone. Empathy is crucial, but it's equally important to present the facts accurately and analytically. In conclusion, composing an essay on residential schools demands a commitment to thorough research, a nuanced understanding of historical and cultural contexts, and a delicate approach to handling sensitive subject matter. Only with a careful and considerate approach can one hope to do justice to the complexity of this topic. • 2. Airline Deregulation Airline Deregulation act of 1978 Aston A Samms Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Abstract The United States Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 was a dramatic turning point in America. It was the first systematic dismantling of a comprehensive system of government control since the Supreme Court declared the National Recovery Act unconstitutional in 1935. It was also part of a broader movement that, with varying degrees of thoroughness, transformed such industries as trucking, railroads, buses, cable television, stock exchange brokerage, oil and gas, telecommunications, financial markets, and even local electric and gas utilities. Since the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978, the airline industry has experienced significant growth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today the hub and spoke concept is used at most major airports throughout the United States such as Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas. The new system allows air travelers two key concepts in air travel. The first, experienced by those that live in close proximity to the central hub, saw a significant increase in both flights available and service areas. The second key point is with air travelers that live near the spoke or regional areas of the routes. Those near the spokes have gained hundreds of new destinations with the new system. By traveling from the serving airports to the hubs air travelers are able to reach destinations on servicing or regional airlines that would not have existed prior to deregulation. Although there was a deregulation of the airline industry, the one significant component that did not change was the infrastructure of the airline industry. Constrained by the limitations of the airports and the air traffic control system, airlines did not see significant increases in profits despite the large growth and operations. As the airlines increased the number of flights and structure, the air traffic control system did not experience the same increase. Because the ATC system was still controlled and owned by the government, growth was, and continues to be slow. Each year the Department of Transportation goes to Congress to request more funding for increases in budgets to pay the salaries of more controllers and to improve ATC technology. To
  • 3. Aristotle Vs. Aristotle s Rhetoric And Dialectic In Rhetoric, Aristotle states, Let rhetoric be [defined as] an ability, in each [particular case], to see the available means of persuasion (Kennedy, 2007, p. 37). Aristotle is saying that rhetoric is not just the art of persuasion through speech. He was saying that rhetoric is the art of discovering the methods of persuasion available in all situations. This relates to the goal of many figures in the current day political climate. This goal is to discover methods of persuading as many people as possible as often as possible. A politician s use or rhetoriccan be compared to Aristotle s study of rhetoric in that both utilize the artistic proofs and practice the three species of rhetoric. Aristotle s definition of rhetoric closely matches the goals of modern politicians, and so rhetoric has become ingrained into our modern day political process. Aristotle views rhetoric as the counterpart to dialectic, and points out several key differences. Aristotle says that both rhetoric and dialectic begin with endoxa , or reasoning from a commonly held belief or opinion (Herrick, 2016, p. 71). Both rhetoric and dialectic must be based on a logical argument. Rhetoric takes that argument and adds elements of the speaker s character and emotions, creating a more diverse method of persuading an audience. Dialectic favors a fact based dialogue and does not rely on the speaker s character and emotions. Rhetoric and dialectic are both methods of addressing questions. These questions do

  • 5. An Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 Essay An Analysis of Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 Shakespeare s Sonnet 116, denying Time s harvest of love, contains 46 iambic, 15 spondaic, 6 pyrrhic, and 3 trochaic feet. Like the varying magnitudes of stars that distinguish the sky s constellations, infused with myths describing all degrees and types of love, the spondaic, trochaic, and pyrrhic substitutions create a pattern of meaning that can be inferred by the discerning eye and mind. Shakespeare emphasizes his denial of the effects of Time on love by accenting not in lines 1, 2, 9, and 11, and no in lines 5 and 14. The forceful spondees at the beginning and the regular iambic feet at the end of each quatrain progressively build the poet s passionate rejection of love s transience. ... The meanings of the poem s brilliantly varied iambic lines revolve around love s one fixed star, extending this image to the whole sonnet. Quatrain 1 begins with the unusual scansion of spondee, trochaic, iambic, pyrrhic, and spondee. No matter how unusual the situation, Shakespeare will not object to mutual love between honest people. Furthermore, their love should not depend on circumstances or people s opinions. The iambic foot of Which alters links across the poem to the spondee of Love alters in Quatrain 3. The abrupt trochaic, even, in line 12, reinforces the importance of reciprocity in love, for love to be eternal. Moreover, the word bears alludes to the myth of the enduring love of Callisto and her son, Arca, as represented by the constellations of Ursa Major and Minor, with the North Star at the point of the tail of Little Bear. Quatrain 3, with a ratio of 15 regular to 5 irregular feet, begins with 2 spondees followed by 8 iambic feet. This sequence of regular feet evokes the sweep of Time s sickle, alluding to the far reaching arc of the tail of the Great Bear cutting through and reaping the love legends linked to such constellations as Virgo ( rosy lips and cheeks ), Gemini ( looks on tempests ), and Andromeda and Perseus ( impediments to the marriage of true minds ). It stretches from the southern part of New York to northern Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia. This cultural region in the Eastern United States relies heavily on moonshine and the distribution of moonshine. Moonshine is illicitly distilled or smuggled liquor. Other words that are common when speaking of moonshine is white lightning, mountain dew, hooch, homebrew, and white whiskey. The answer to this problem was to put a federal tax on liquors and spirits, like moonshine, white whiskey, hooch, mountain dew, etc. For these early moonshiners, making and selling alcohol wasn t a hobby or a way to make extra cash it was how they survived (Grabianowski). Moonshine is typically made with corn mash. Moonshine was once banned under the 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution. However, the liquor controlled laws forbid moonshining focus mainly on evasion of revenue taxation on spirituous and intoxicating liquors, and are required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives of the United States Department of the Treasury (Wikipedia). The enforcers of these laws are known as revenooers or revenuers. Early in American history, these federal agents were attacked when they came around to collect the tax on liquors and spirits, and a number of them were tarred and feathered (Grabianowski). These problems arose with the federal agents, or the revenuers because they were trying to make these moonshiners and farmers pay taxes on their profit, interrupting their income and profit of making and selling alcohol. Moonshine became a part of the daily life of these citizens because of the money being made, having to pay the tax would risk being able to feed their families and make a living. Moonshine was an essential part of American history because of the profit that came with it and then the government control that came
  • 7. Summary Of How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents The utilization of style makes How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia Alvarez an arduous book to read. John s right hand played piano on her ribs, and his mouth blew a piccolo on her, Alvarez writes, using metaphor to describe a sex scene between Yolanda and her husband, John (76). The author s vivid description is frivolous and supports neither the plot nor the specific event within the story. Next, Alvarez s syntax is emphasized in the excerpt: The hills begin to plane out into a high plateau, and the road widens. Left and right, roadside stands begin appearing. Yolanda keeps an eye out for guavas. Piled high on wooden stands are fruits Yolanda hasn t seen in years: pinkish yellow mangoes, and tamarind pods oozing their rich sap, and small cashew fruits strung on a rope to keep them from bruising each other. Strips of meat, buzzing with flies, hang from the windows of butcher stalls (Alvarez 13). The elongated wording and imagery of How The Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents takes a detour from the actual plot, which makes the book difficult to comprehend. In addition, Alvarez applies symbolism by using the quote: These baby monkeys were kept in a cage so long, they wouldn t come out when the doors were finally left open. Instead they stayed inside and poked their arms through the bars for their food, just out of reach (149). The Garcia girls will always be tied to the Dominican Republic just like how the monkeys are with the cage. The example of symbolism

There are more than 20 species of candida yeast that might cause illnesses in people, but the common Candida species is the Candida albicans (Hospenthal Rinaldi, 2015). However, the yeasts are found in small amounts in the mucous membrane and skin, and they do not cause infection, but the overgrowth would lead to infection. Specific drugs and health issues may cause the yeast to overgrow especially in warm and moist body parts leading dangerous symptoms. The signs and symptoms of candidiasis depend on the part of the human body that is infected (Contreras Fuentes, 2013). Health centers in many nations have reported that Candida species cause fungal infections leading to hospitalization of patients. The paper focuses on candidiasis by exploring its causes, epidemiology, types, diagnosis and treatment as well as prevention measures and risk factors. The thesis of the paper is that candidiasis is a fatal disease that can lead to defects and even death. Epidemiology In the United States, Candida is the third cause of nosocomial bloodstream diseases accounting for about 8 10 percent of the cases. The Wrongful Discharge From Employment Act Question Presented Under Montana s Wrongful Discharge from Employment Act (WDEA), does Anton Chigurh have a claim for wrongful discharge when he signed a one year employment contract containing an at will provision and his employer, Carla Moss, offered him a lesser position with lower pay to accommodate a contract with a returning employee? Brief Answer Probably no. In order to establish a claim for wrongful discharge, Chigurh would have to prove that (1) the employment contract for a specific term does not bar his suit; (2) that he was constructively discharged; and (3) that Moss did not hold good cause in terminating his employment. Here, the Professional Employment Contract for Specific Term held an at will provision, making it not a contract for a specific term, which will allow Chigurh to bring suit. Chigurh being moved from executive chef to line chef coupled with a $17,500 pay reduction will likely prove so intolerable that the only reasonable option was to quit, resulting in him being constructively discharged. However, BWO will likely be able to prove Chigurh was terminated for good cause either because employers have more discretion in terminating managerial employees, or for the financial factors associated with not performing the agreement with Wells. Statement of Facts Carla Moss hired Carson Wells to be the executive chef at Blue Winged Olive Bar Grill (BWO) in 2003. Moss relied heavily on Wells and contributed much of BWO s success to him. Moss

The first is that Singapore is situated in the heart of a fertile coffee growing region critical islands like Java, Sumatra and New Guinea are nearby, as are high volume growing regions like Vietnam. • 22. Hamlet Character Analysis Jackie Strom Prof. Scala ENG 113 27 Oct. 2017 Face the real issue, HamletHamlet proves himself a temperamental, twisted character in William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet. The Prince of Denmark conveys his facetious demeanor with his behavior and sharp tongue, especially in scenes with Ophelia and Gertrude. Although Hamlet s situation is difficult and easily sympathized by viewers, his aggression should ultimately be focused on his murderous uncle. Initially the reader can understand Hamlet s anger with Gertrude when she marries his uncle. O, most wicked speed, to post / with such dexterity to incestuous sheets, says Hamlet in disgust towards his mother s marriage (1.2.161 12). Gertrude did marry the king s brother quickly after his death, so any resentment Hamlet feels towards his mother is justified. The reader sympathizes even more with the character when Hamlet says of the union, It is not, nor it cannot come to good. / But break, my heart, for I must hold my tongue (1.2.163 164). It appears that Hamlet is attempting to be respectful towards his mother, so it s easy to appreciate his character in the beginning. Hamlet seems to be kind towards Ophelia when Polonius reads Hamlet s love letter. Hamlet professes to Ophelia, Doubt thou the stars are fire, / Doubt that the sun doth move, / Doubt truth to be a liar, / But never doubt I love (2.2. 124 127). Unfortunately, these words towards Ophelia mean nothing. In response to Ophelia returning his love letters, Hamlet responds with, I never gave you aught (3.1.105). Any hint that Hamlet truly loved Ophelia is undermined when he outright denies writing those letters to her. Hamlet further insults Ophelia when he says to her, Or if thou wilt needs marry, / marry a fool, for wise men know well enough what / monsters you make of them (3.1.149 151). Absolving himself from any accountability for his moody temperament, Hamlet instead puts the blame on Ophelia. Similar to Ophelia, Gertrude experiences her son s ill demeanor when during their conversation in her bedroom. After killing Polonius, Gertrude responds with, O, what rash and bloody deed this is (3.4.33), a statement which perfectly captures the crime that Hamlet committed. Again Hamlet takes

He tells her that she could sit by the Indian Ganges, and he would sit by the Humber in England and wish for her. He then goes on to say, that if she wishes; she can keep him at arms length, and that his feelings will wait until she is ready. This makes her feel that he is not pressuring her in to anything she does not want to do. Marvell uses a lot of exaggeration, for example I would / Love you ten years before the flood.. From this it can be concluded that many of those who attend these sort of events are not entirely informed and if they were to be informed it would lead to an overall sense of understanding. Therefore, genetic engineering is beneficial in the way that it will allow for people to be able to have more capability. Geneticsis a field where the

I will take you through sum very interesting events that happened on this date, which is also my birthday. Personally I didn t know that there were events like this that happened on this day. It was very interesting what I learned during this research project. I will be able to take the knowledge that I absorbed by doing this project with me through high school, college and eventually a career that fits me. My first topic is an avalanche that many soldiers died in because they were fighting for their country. This takes place in the time of WWI. This particular avalanche killed an estimate of 9,000 soldiers who were in its path. Witnesses say the avalanches were sometimes used as a weapon to kill the enemies on the mountain, soldiers that survived say the condition on the mountain was worse than the actual fighting itself. The French and Russians were against the Germans and Austrians. Most of the battle camps were set up directly under unstable snow, so whoever was in there at the time of the avalanche, they would have died. Only a few people were found out of thousands of soldiers in the battles. Another interesting event was the capturing of Saddam Hussein. Operation Red Dawn was the plan that the U.S. would try to find and execute Saddam Hussein for good He was raised into a poor family as a little child by his mother. His first wife, was his first cousin Sajida. Saddam spent many years running

  • 30. Persuasive Speech On Adopting Animals A dog isn t just simply a dog. A dog is a best friend, a companion, a detective, a guide, a gift, and much more. So why would people mistreat their dogs? People still don t know the answer to this question. Commercials have been trying to shine some light on the public about the issue at hand. The issue includes people adopting animals and not being able to care for them. If we take it one step forward, we are also worried about people abusing an animal. A couple commercials in my mind have done an outstanding job in spreading the message of knowing if you are responsible enough to adopt an animal. A commercial that caught my eye is called Gift . Gift starts off with a man driving a very nice car up to a house. The man seems to be well dressed. The music in the background is very happy and you can tell the man is happy as well. I can infer that it is cold outside by the way the people are dressed and how there are no leaves on the trees and it is gloomy. He then gets out of the car and picks up a little girl. The little girl has red hair and is carrying a stuffed toy dog. The man hugs the little girl and puts her in the car with him. The man shares some food with the little girl, which suggests that they like each other and get along. In the next scene, there is a woman with a different little girl that is blonde. The two are drawing and enjoying themselves. I can infer that the older lady is the mother of the younger one due to the older lady giving the younger one a

Since we didn t have to take a test we got to play games and mess around. The day went by really slow, but I was fine with that. I was having fun messing around and playing board games with my friends. At last, I heard the bell ring. I walked outside of the classroom and heard a lot of noise. Everyone was so excited that school was over. After school, I went to Top Golf with my friends. I had a blast and then went back to my friends house and swam. The next day was my birthday party. My friend, Grant, and I have birthdays around the same time, so we decided to have a birthday party together. I was turning 13 and Grant was turning 14. I had my birthday party at a place called Group Dynamixs, it is a big indoor area where you can play a ton of different games/sports and do indoor ropes courses. I had a lot of fun, but I was super tired after. The next days of summer went by pretty slow which was good. It seemed like each day was 48 hours. A month later, time started to go by a little bit faster. I felt like July decided to have 25 days instead of 31 days. I went to Austin, Texas from 7/1/17 to 7/6/17 which was fun. I go to a place in Austin called Lakeway every year with my family. The hotel is on Lake Travis. It was cool and interesting to see the fireworks over the lake. This trip felt like it went

Meanwhile in the modern world, a scientist in Switzerland has invented two devices that could reverse paralysis. Technology is advancing fast as society is trying to reverse paralysis, which may be a blessing or a detriment to the world, similar to the innovations in the short story The Veldt . The Veldt The Hadleys live in the advanced housing unit called the Happylife home, which does everything someone would do on a day to day basis for them. The populace of the world could agree that something could go right or wrong with using that kind of technology. The Hadley children have a nursery that shows images based on their thoughts, therefore the African veldt appears in the room. Everyone in the world would probably like to live in the Happylife house if they could. In the house is a nursery where it s controlled by the users mind, which is an advantage to the Hadley parents because they can see if there is something wrong with their kids psychologically. The Hadley family has life going easy for them in the house, there is a machine that does every task in the house for them. They whole family loved the idea in the beginning of the story. Nevertheless with all great technology there has to be some weighty drawbacks. Human relationships is irreplaceable, but that s exactly what the house is doing to the Hadley s as Lydia Hadley says The house is wife and mother now and nursemaid........Can I give a bath and scrub the children as efficiently or quickly as the automatic scrub bath can (Bradbury). The children, Peter and Wendy, do not need their mother anymore and it is tearing Lydia apart so much she wants a vacation away from the house that she and her husband bought so they wouldn t have to do anything. The nursery has crystal walls that play images controlled by the user s mind. When the parents, George and Lydia, go into the nursery and see Africa everything becomes realistic and they can feel the sun, smell the grass, etc. The nursery has disadvantages for the children as George and Lydia can see an idea of what is going on with their children s mind. Water Quality And Contamination Of Drinking Water Water Quality and Contamination Introduction Body Paragraph #1 Background: Humans use about 75 gallons of water a day for activities, such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, and laundry. Not only do we use water for our own well being but we also use water to keep animals that we eat healthy and maintain vehicles that we drive on an everyday basis. Only three percent of the water on earth is suitable for drinking, where two percent of water is found only in glaciers and ice and one percent of the world s water is accessible and drinkable. The majority of the human body is compromised of water. An adequate supply of safe drinking water is one of the major prerequisites for a healthy life...(Fawell and Nieuwenhuijsen 2003) The quality of drinking water and possible associated health risks vary throughout the world with some regions showing, for example, high levels of arsenic, fluoride or contamination of drinking water by pathogens, whereas elsewhere these are very low and no problem. Body Paragraph # 2 Objective: The purpose of this experiment is to compare the effect of plant growth and biodiversity. I want to know the effect that water has on growth when it is contaminated, purified, or at its original state. With water being the major prerequisites to a healthy life I want to know what would happen to me or other species if I were to drink contaminated water or continue to drink the bottled purified water instead of drinking tap water. How Does Richard Wright Use Concrete Diction Richard Wright s writing style from The Street reveals the changes in attitude through the use of parallelism, concrete diction and conversational diction. In the third paragraph, shortly after the narrator was being beat up twice, Wright writes: I yelled, pleaded, kicked...they yanked me to my feet, gave me a few slaps, and sent me home sobbing. The use of parallelism here indicates that the narrator s attitude is weak due to words like, Pleaded, yelled, and sent me home sobbing and then later on shifts to the narrator s new attitude (which would be aggressive) due to the last paragraph where Wright writes: I fought to lay them low, to knock them cold, to kill them... which would infer that the attitude changed from to aggressive.

Through the use of imagery of colour, characterisation and setting, Hallstrom and Chazelle share insight on what it is like to have a dreamin today s society, that there are many obstacles for disheartening, but that all the hardships are worth it. Mother and daughter were fated to wander from village to village, dispensing ancient cacao remedies, travelling with the wind. With every shift in location, she had to leave behind the life she had built there, beginning with abandonment of her father who one morning, awoke to discover that Chitza and the little girl Vianne had gone away. At a young age, Mia chose to move to Los Angeles in hopes to fulfil her dreams of becoming a successful actress. However, it was later evident that the project she became successful in required her to go to Paris. Whether it be love, home or family, the authors show the different sacrifices that need to be made in order to fulfil a dream. Colour is an important image in both Chazelle and Hallstrom s texts. Throughout La La Land, Chazelle incorporates an abundance of bright colours in the backdrop and the clothing. However, after travelling five years into the future, the characters are dressed in darker and duller outfits. Chazelle s use of bright colours suggests the feeling of having hope, dreams and fantasy whilst the duller colours imply maturity and the reality of life. Hallstrom also uses imagery of colour to describe the

A Snapshot Of The Village Life During Bronze Age Vietnam Dongson Drums: A Snapshot of the Village Life in Bronze Age Vietnam Thesis Statement: Although many scholars believe that the feathered figures on the drums are depictions of ancestor figures, ethnographic evidences from the Karen s use of the drum and the Toraja s funeral rites suggest that the images engraved on the drums are mere portrayals of village life in Dongson. Located in the Hong (Red) River valley, the Dongson society is said to be highly dependent on water for agricultural purposes. Some examples of images on the drum that portray farming activities include villagers pounding rice with hand pestles and water buffalos working the fields. The rice harvest usually is situated before the ceremonies to provide more food to the attendees. Processions accompanied by rhythmic sound of gongs are also involved in moving a tau tau from one place to another. From these, similarities of the Toraja funeral ritual to the images on the Dongson drums are quite apparent. The images of houses on stilts with boat shaped roofs seen on some Dongson drums are similar to the clan houses at Tana Toraja. A large number of livestock animals such as pigs, water buffalos, and goats are also depicted on the drums. As mentioned before, activities related to rice harvest such as pounding of rice are portrayed. Rhythmic drum accompaniments and feathered dancers also appear on the tympanum of the Dongson drum. In her article, Maria Christou affirms claims that the Toraja is closely related to the Dongson. She states that most of the art produced by the Toraja including beadwork, carving, textile, and painting reflects the designs of the Dongson drums. Thus it is safe to say that the scenes on the Dongson drums may correspond to ceremonial rites similar to Toraja funerals. The real question that needs to be answered though are about the feathered human like figures riding elaborately decorated boats, and whether or not they are ancestor figures, which would indicate that the Dongson people are some kind of ancestor cult. The popular opinion is that these feathered ancestors guide the deceased to

In its desperate hunt for oil in the mid to late 20th century, the US government tried to secure its interests in the oil rich Middle Eastern states, in some cases, creating wars and problems that have lasted decades. In 1953, the CIA helped overthrow Iran s democratically elected Prime Minister, Mohammed Mossadeq, and replaced him with Shah Reza Pahlavi, who supported American oil interests in Iran. In 1979, the Iranian people overcame the Shah, and in response, the US, UN, and other western countries, imposed multiple sanctions against Iran, deeply hurting the country s economy and people. Now though, more than 30 years later, the US and Iran may be brought together by a common enemy of ISIS; an Islamic militant group based in Northern Iraq and Syria, that has been violently attacking Westerners, and people of religions other than Sunni Muslim. The US should take this opportunity to mend diplomatic relations with Iran, because Iran cannot singularly be blamed for the actions that caused a cooling of relations. Although this may be considered more of a group status symbol, I believe the concept still applies. Another status symbol in MS 13 is tattoos showcasing your time in prison. If you have a prison... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A normal citizen s core values may be family oriented, and MS 13 s values are similar to an extent. The gang, although callous, do seem to care for one another that is, unless they betray the organization like the female in the film who was killed by her gang member friends for telling the police gang secrets. Despite this, like already stated, when a gang member dies, they get a mural painted in their honor spray painted illegally, of course. With that being said, the film covered very little on how the gang s members treat their actual blood families; however, I do wonder about the dynamics since gang members are constantly at risk of being sent to prison or being deported. I also wonder that if when a gang member has a child, is that child then part of the gang, or do they get to decide, and do they still have to be beat in? It comes as no surprise, but gang members have vastly different values when it comes to concepts like killing and fighting. Killing is their job and they treat it as such but this does not excuse their actions in the slightest. Along with this, instead of going through the government, state, county, city, or region to own land, the gang members acquire land in unjust ways such as turf wars with rival gangs that end in fights or murder. On a different note, unlike in a normal American society,

Creation Of The Sistine Chapel s Accomplishments In 1508, Pope Julius II wanted a geometric ornament and the placement of twelve Disciples in spandrels (spaces between two arches) around the decoration to cover up the original blue ceiling covered in stars. In 1979, a chemical compound, AB 57, was tested on the East Wall. AB 57 is a calcium dissolving solvent, a solution made up of ammonium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, desogen (anti fungal acid), and carboxyl methyl cellulose, which is then dissolved in water, developed by Professor Paulo and Laura Mora. It was made to remove insoluble salts and materials that had been incrusted into the paintings, and ended up being able to bring very bright colors into the painting. When the AB 57 was to be applied, it would have to sit for three minutes, and then taken off by washing it with water. Following that it would dry for twenty four hours, and this application process would be repeated again. Another chemical called B 72 was also used to seal the walls lunettes (Ancestors of Christ), but this process was quickly thrown out. As a way to ensure that the restoration would remain the way it is, an intricate climate control system was designed to protect the frescos from air pollution, heat, and

Questions On Financial Accounting Standards According to the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting Standards Codification Topic 230 (ASC 230), cash flows are classified in the Statement of Cash Flows (SCF) as cash flows from operating, investing, and financing activities. ASC 230 replaced FASB Statement No 95 (SFAS 95). This paper will discuss certain problems in SFAS 95 that continue to exist. Certain related cash flows are classified differently because of inconsistencies and ambiguities in classification. Further, the indirect method is widely executed while the direct method discloses more cash flowinformation. This paper alerts users to make more informed assessments of cash flow information with regards to the subtotals from operating, investing, and financing activities. This paper also suggests the FASB require the direct method for reporting purposes to improve investors and creditors judgment accuracy. At the same time, this paper provides users ratios to assess the quality of income to make more informed decisions. ASC 230 requires that companies provide the SCF for each operational period. The SCF provides information about cash and cash equivalents, and classifies cash receipts and cash payments as resulting from operating, investing, or financing activities (Nurnberg 1993). The measurement of the SCF is considered as being more reliable and more objective than the measurement of the income statementbecause the latter involves more judgment about accruals, allocations, and
