Essay On Research Methods
Writing an essay on the topic of research methods can be a challenging yet intellectually
stimulating task. The difficulty lies in the intricate nature of the subject, which demands a
comprehensive understanding of various methodologies employed in the research process.
Crafting a well-structured essay requires not only a clear grasp of the theoretical underpinnings
but also the ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise and coherent manner.
One of the challenges is navigating through the plethora of research methods available and
deciding which ones are most relevant to the chosen subject. The essay must delve into the
nuances of quantitative and qualitative approaches, experimental designs, surveys, case studies,
and more. Moreover, it is crucial to explore the advantages, limitations, and ethical
considerations associated with each method, adding another layer of complexity to the writing
process.
Additionally, synthesizing information from diverse sources and presenting a cohesive argument
can be daunting. Striking a balance between theory and practical application, while maintaining
clarity and academic rigor, is a delicate task. It requires the writer to critically evaluate the
strengths and weaknesses of different research methods and provide a nuanced perspective.
Furthermore, staying updated with the latest advancements in research methodology adds
another layer of complexity. The field is dynamic, and evolving methodologies, technological
advancements, and paradigm shifts necessitate continuous engagement and awareness.
In conclusion, writing an essay on research methods demands not only a solid understanding of
the subject matter but also the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively. It involves
navigating through a diverse array of methodologies, critically analyzing their implications, and
presenting a well-reasoned argument. While the task is challenging, it offers an opportunity for
intellectual growth and a deeper appreciation for the intricate processes that underlie quality
research.

Essay on Lahiri s the Namesake

Gogol Versus Nikhil Gogol grapples with his name throughout the majority of the
novel, yet this tension was in the makings even before his birth. Ashoke and Ashima
being immigrants set Gogol up to live in two different cultures, American and
Bengali. Many children of immigrants may feel like Gogol, having one foot in each
world. Gogol framed his struggle with cultural identity through something tangible,
his name. In Jhumpa Lahiri s novel, The Namesake, Gogol s struggle with cultural
identity is exposed most greatly by the name others call him and his reaction to it.
On Gogol s first day of school, he gets his first taste of the cultural tension that his
name and good name generate in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader is convinced that Gogol has had many experiences of his name being
said with hesitation and lack of ease that normal American names are pronounced
with. Gogol must often compare himself to his peers via how teachers and other
authorities handle his unique name. Furthermore, Gogol himself is consumed with
doubt in regards to his name, what it means, and how it ties him to his heritage in a
way he in unsure how to accept. However pleased Gogol may have been with Mr.
Lawson s approach, everything changes when the class reads The Overcoat by
Nikolai Gogol. With growing dread and a feeling of slight nausea, he watches as Mr.
Lawson distributes the books...the sight of it [ Gogol ] printed in capital letters
on the crinkly page upsets him viscerally (89). Gogol wants nothing to do with his
name at this point, even the book it is printed in is particularly battered, the corner
blunted, the cover spotted as if by a whitish mold, (89). The confusion Gogol
associates with his own name infects him and things around him, just like the
warmth [that] spreads from the back of Gogol s neck to his cheeks and his ears,
(91). The rest of his classmates, begin to moan in unison, (92), and Gogol feels
betrayed, (91). Gogol takes the class s negative reaction to the Russian author s
biographical information as a personal assault. It reinforces his rejection to his own
name as each time the name
Analysis Of A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
When one thinks of an angel, they think of a beautiful, angelic creature clothed in
white, with dazzling wings, a holy being floating gracefully through the air. On the
contrary, in A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings: A Tale for Children
(AVOMWEW) written by Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez, Pelayo and Elisenda, along
with their sick child, live very closely to the ocean surrounded by pesky crabs.
They believe that the smell from the crabs is causing their child s sickness. After
killing many crabs, Pelayo walks outside to find a very old man with enormous
wings covered in mud, who they believe to be an angel. The next day, upon the
arrival of the townspeople, Pelayo and Elisenda have an idea to charge the
townspeople five cents to see the angel. As soon as they started gaining great
wealth, however, their situation began to decline, as the townspeople got bored of
the angel and left to see the little girl who had turned into a spider for disobeying
her parents. Soon the townspeople began to leave, therefore causing the couple to
stop gaining money, thus leading to their downfall. However, they were surrounded
by many riches, therefore not affecting them as much. Much to the relief of the
couple, several years later the old man flies away. One can argue that the old man in
AVOMWEW was not intended to be an angel, but MГЎrquez makes it pretty clear
that he is an angel because the old man cured the child, bestowed great riches on
Pelayo and Elisenda and the old man also contains the
Revelation Narrative
Revelation By : Hunter Newell I had only been in school for a mere few hours, but
the reality had already started to settle in. My first four hours of the day were
nothing to stress about, they were as easy as sinking a layup, but as the day went
on, my eyes got heavier and the classes only got harder. I thought after listening to
my first four teachers talk, that things were going to be as easy as last year, I
thought I wouldn t have to stress, and it would be a cakewalk once again, I thought
that I wouldn t have to study, just as I had done last school year. That all changed
when I walked through the door of my fifth hour class. It was that moment that I
realized that this school year was going to be nothing like the last, it would not...

When I finally got home I ignored my mom s requests of How was your day? and
immediately stormed upstairs to my best friend, also know as my bed. As I layed
there I slowly started to recover from the traumatizing events that had occurred
earlier in the day. I started to realize that maybe such a challenging course was not
such a bad thing. After all I would be getting a head start on my college credits.
Instead of moping about how hard the class was going to be, I decided that I would
accept the challenge that was being thrown at me and do my best to succeed. I
wish I could say that I had completely dedicated to success in AP History, but that
would be a lie, however I can proudly say that I did not quit, I accepted the
First Amendment And Search And Seizure
Many of the Bill of Rights can be used as provisions that protect the individuals who
try and influence politics. Two provisions I am going to choose are the First
Amendment and search and seizure.
The First Amendment and search and seizure are both provisions that individuals use
to influence politics. The First Amendment is the freedom of speech and the freedom
of assembly. The freedom of speech allows the individual citizen to say almost
anything they want with no restrictions. The freedom of assembly allows individuals
to assemble or get together to have protests that can influence the Legislators policy
making. Search and Seizure allows individuals to be protected against harassment or
punishment from the government. The First Amendment and search and seizure are
two provisions I found that individuals use to influence politics. ... Show more content

Abstract Crankshafts are an integral part of an automobile engine. The crankshaft
undergoes various loads and stresses during operation. A crankshaft is responsible in
conjunction with the piston rod for converting the linear movement of piston into
rotary movement. In this paper we represent FEA analysis and topology optimization
of 2 wheeler crankshaft. In this paper represents detail about the project. In this
project, the crankshaft will be analyzed and suitable changes for weight optimization
will be made in the crankshaft. The main objectives in this project are to analyze and
find out the low stress regions on the crankshaft and try and reduce weight of the
crankshaft by eliminating the low stress regions from the crankshaft. In... Show more

The shape and size of crankshaft depends on the number and arrangement of
cylinders. It is usually made by steel forging, but some makers use special types of
cast iron such as spheroidal graphitic or nickel alloy castings which are cheaper to
produce and have good service life.
Fig. 1.2: Crankshaft
There are other components in the I.C. Engine like Bearings, Flywheel, spark plug,
fuel pump and carburetor but majority of the parts contributing in the mechanism are
explained above.
NEED OF PROJECT:
Crankshaft is one of the most important moving parts in internal combustion engine.
Crankshaft is a large component with a complex geometry in the engine, which
converts the reciprocating displacement of the piston into a rotary motion. It is
essential that crankshaft is designed with consideration of dynamic loading and with
modern engineering techniques with good factor of safety. At the same time it is
important to reduce the weight of any component of the automobile even if by the
slightest without compromising function of the component. As reduction in the
weight helps us improving carbon footprint of the vehicle and reduce the effect of
emission on the environment as well as have more economical transport by
increasing fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

Jung s Collective Unconscious Essay
Carl G. Jung was a psychiatrist and psychotherapist from Switzerland (Lightfoot,
2010). Jung has constructed and developed several concepts including extraversion
and introversion, collective unconscious and archetypes (Hjelle and Ziegler, 1992).
Besides, Jung has a system of personality (also known as psyche), which is
analytical psychology, suggested that intrapsychic forces can motivate humans and
the shared evolutionary history among people can actually derived different images
(Hjelle and Ziegler, 1992). The deep rooted spiritual concerns are involved in the
inherited unconscious and this also can explain why people in the world strive for
creative expression and psychic completion (Hjelle and Ziegler, 1992). In this essay, it

Jung therefore had found evidences from three sources including dreams, active
imagination and delusions of paranoiacs and others (Jung, 1981). First, it was the
dreams, and this was the main source. Since dreams are produced or happened
involuntarily and spontaneously resulting from the unconscious psyche, so they are
suitable for being a source because they are natural and cannot be altered by any
conscious actions (Jung, 1981). Jung utilized this source by questioning the person
in order to understand which ideas appeared in his/her dreams are known to him
/her (Jung, 1981). Then from the ideas of the dreams that are unknown to him/her,
Jung eliminated those were possibly known to him/her (Jung, 1981). For example,
certain symbols appeared in the dreams of a person have to be excluded as those
symbols may have been learnt by that person due to his/her occupation or living
environments. In this ways, those symbols still cannot prove anything. Therefore, in
order to prove the existence of archetypes, Jung had to look for ideas form the
dreams that were not possible to be known to the individual but still work in a
functional way that it represents the same thing or meaning which is understood from
the history (Jung, 1981). The second source Jung utilized was by using active
imagination which means a sequence of fantasies produced by

Reflection On Classwork
My lesson began as class usually does, with students completing the Do Now up on
the board: having notebooks and pencils ready, picking up the warm up sheet from
the back, and writing the homework in their planner. Since there was no homework
from the previous day, we were able to go right into the warm up. I walked around
the classroom to make sure students had the warm up and were beginning to work.
Students were unusually quiet, probably due to the camera and Keith s presence, so I
reminded them that they were allowed to discuss the warm up. I stopped to help one
student get started finding the missing side lengths of two similar triangles and
helped another remember how to divide fractions for the last question. After the
students had about 5 minutes to work on the warm up, I displayed a blank warm up
using the document camera and asked for students to share their answers. I asked an
additional question about what the scale factor was for the triangles and modeled
using the scale factor to find the missing side lengths. pointed out to students that all
the fraction questions related to a pair of corresponding side lengths in the triangles
from the first question, recalling that we could use fractions to represent or find
corresponding sides in similar shapes.
Next, I introduced that we will be exploring proportional relationships on a graph
and that we would be trying a new style of group work. I explained the structure to
the students, that they would be in groups of
Psychoanalysis And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis is based on psychoanalytic theory postulated by the
renowned Viennese neurologist Sigmund Freud between the late nineteenth and early
twentieth centuries, and has been reactualizГЎndose. A little too summarizes our
psyche conceived as dynamic consists of a conscious and an unconscious part. This
theory postulates that, many times, which does not allow us to live peacefully past
traumas are hidden in the unconscious, and that we must make conscious to
overcome. It is the famous couch therapy, introspection, free association. It asks the
patient to say everything you think omitting the smallest detail, however insignificant
or ridiculous it may seem, because everything has a meaning, even dreams. Thus a
reconstruction of what experienced from early childhood, because this perspective
puts much emphasis on the influence of this stage in our present emotional well

Cognitive behavioral therapy From a cognitive behavioral perspective is known that
to solve a problem to have to change certain behaviors, are in a very broad sense,
considering each other s thoughts, feelings and emotions. Cognitive behavioral
therapy has two parts, one is the thinking about the problem. It is the responsibility of
the patient to fully contribute to defining the problem that is just what is concerned
and takes you to see. Once the vision that the patient has his problem under the
guidance of your therapist established a functional analysis of the problem,
enunciating in operational and modifiable terms is performed. Thus securing the
goals of therapy and treatment begins. This is the establishment of a program to
modify behaviors, thoughts and feelings relevant to the maintenance problem. This
type of therapy seems to know how to manage anxiety, as has solved problems such
as phobias, obsessions and other associated
A Future For Mobile Payments
Businesses see a future for mobile payments soon. More and more industries are
being presented with the profits of mobile payments and those industries are viewing
them as opportunities in the modern day world. The competition is on for who is the
biggest and most bad. Now, the millennials are the ones to decide that. According to
new surveys, 72 percent of business executives believe that smartphone payments on
a large scale, are inevitable and 58 percent of businesses have already implemented a
mobile paymentsystem. (Big Think Editors, 2012) In late 2011, Google came up

For the reason that consumers only need to carry a mobile device rather than
multiple forms of paper and plastic, mobile wallets will be considerably useful.
Also, because they can track users shopping and purchases, mobile payment
systems can offer advanced personal shopper services such as endorsements and
new deals based on one s location and past purchasing history. According to a
recent Pew Research survey, nearly 66 percent of participants believe their
smartphones will replace traditional payment options like credit cards and cash by
2020. (Gramigna, K. 2015). Therefore, a few people do believe that they will be
using their phones instead of cash. Cash may not disappear completely, but it will
not be used as much. As claimed by those that doubt cash will truly disappear,
mobile payments will never replace cash. Data from Intuit shows that 55 percent of
the nation s 27 million small businesses do not accept credit cards. Despite study
after study proving otherwise, many merchants believe it is too expensive to take
credit. Given this, the likelihood of those merchants adopting mobile payment
technology in the near future seems slim. (Quinn, M. 2014) It is too unlikely to
expect cash payments to disappear completely. Nowadays, pulling out your wallet for
cash or using a credit card only takes a few seconds. Opening a mobile wallet app,
pulling up a QR code, or typing in a personal email

Summary Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Malcolm Gladwell uses a particular structure in his book Outliers; each chapter
consists of a backstory, an example, an analysis, and other stories. In Chapter 2 The
10,000 Hour Rule, he opens with the backstory of Bill Joy, a computer programmer
who co founded Sun Microsystems in Silicon Valley. Starting off with a successful
person is one of Gladwell s tactics; he draws you in with a poster child for success.
Also, throughout the books he uses engaging pop culture references: the university s
enormous mainframe computers stood in the middle of a vast white room, looking,
as one faculty member remembers, like one of the last scenes in the movie 2001: A
Space Odyssey. (34) This approach helps tremendously with visualization, while
simultaneously creating a correlation to the book and author. The second section,
Gladwell answers the question of innate talent; making it clear that circumstances
aren t everything. There are many factors that go into success; examining talent and
preparation, but later explaining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance of providing a myriad of examples is to show evidence that this
happens with many people, not just one isolated incident. This section is dedicated
to the opportunities contributing to his successful business; Gates started to
develop a passion for programing in the 8th grade. In the 60 s computers were rare,
so the chances of learning code at a young age was very limited. This gives him the
upper hand, which is discussed in section six bringing all the examples together.
Concluding the chapter, he analyzes everything that was said and brings up birth

Pros And Cons Of Bug Out Bag
Bug Out Bag Debate: Tarp or Tent for Emergency Shelter
A bug out bag is designed for emergencies, so some inconvenience is to be expected.
When on a family outing you can carry a six or eight person cabin tent in the back of
your vehicle. Weight is not a large factor when you can pack your supplies in the
cargo space of an SUV or pickup.
When packing supplies on your back however, weight can be a deciding factor.
What you think you can carry on your back, and what you can actually carry, are
two different things. Twenty minutes hiking up and down the sidewalk with 30 to 50
pounds strapped on does not mean you can perform the same way physically while
in a crisis when walking over rough and uneven terrain for hours at a time.
Tents
Most backpacking tents are designed for 1 to 2 people. A one person tentallows
approximately 15 square feet of sleeping space. Keep in mind you will have gear as
well, so it will be cramped. The weight can be anywhere from 3 to 6 pounds
depending on the model and actual size. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Economics of Information
Introduction
There have been discussions among scholars in developed countries regarding
economics of information. Developed countries includes Australia, New Zealand,
United States, Ireland, Germany, Japan, Canada and many more are countries that
have a high level of development according to some criteria. The criterion is income
per capita; countries with high gross domestic product (GDP) per capita would thus
be described as developed countries. Another economic criterion is industrialization;
countries in which the tertiary and quaternary sectors of industry dominate would
thus be described as developed. More recently another measure, the Human
Development Index (HDI), which combines an economic measure, national income,
with other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Information goods and services can be shared and consumed with other consumers at
the same time, cannot be easily returned, perhaps these properties make information
economics different from other forms of economics. For instance more than one
person can enjoy a movie in a theatre simultaneously, more than one person can read
the same book, view the same television program, and use the same web site. This
property of information makes it a public or shared good. Usually it will involve
high fixed costs of production but the cost of reproduction is just at lower marginal.
As we know, information managers make economic decision every day for their
organization management. Each decision is a choice among competing
alternatives, for example, a good manager must be good at choosing how to
allocate and make use a fixed budget among employees, suppliers, computers, and
many more expenditures. If a manager spends more money in one expense
category, it will result in less to spend in another for instance, a public library
director must choose whether to buy a new computer or a new photocopier.
Besides, he or she may decide to open the library on Sundays or the extra money
spent on staff and utilities to keep the library open could have been spent purchasing
more books to support the library collections and holdings.
Information has played an increasingly more important role in several economies,
particularly in

Triple Bottom Line
Introduction
A triple bottom line model never merely quantifies an accomplishment or rather the
wellbeing of a company through its conventional monetary bottom line. However,
triple bottom line similarly measures social, ethical as well as environment
performance of the company. Triple bottom linetypically is an incessant process that

TBL is a sustainable model for business that balances financial success, community
participation together with ecological sustainability. The firm which employs triple
bottom line towards capturing the set significances, processes as well as issues of the
company might decrease and determine whichever harms resulting from company s

Heart Of Darkness Archetypes Essay
In his argument raising novella, Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad conveys exquisite
literary knowledge. His use of archetypes allows the reader to connect the novella to
the mythological lens. The mythological lens focuses on characters, how they react to
different situations as well as each other, the connection to greek mythology, and
several types of archetypes. Through analysis of the archetypes and symbols in Heart
of Darkness, the reader can analyze Marlow s journey to and visit in Africa.
An archetype is a typical character, an action, or a situation that seems to represent
universal patterns of human nature (LiteraryDevices.net). In the first chapter of the
novella, the reader is introduced to the color archetype for the first time. When
Marlow is at the Company building he sees a large shining map, marked with all
the colours of a rainbow. (Conrad,7) Marlow then goes on to list the colors and

Favism Research Paper
Favism is one of the most common inherited enzyme deficiency where, 400 million
people suffer from it. People who have favism and eat fava beans experience
anemia that can often lead to death. Favism directly affects the circulatory system
because many red blood cells are destroyed.Favism is the result of a lack of glucose 6
phosphate dehydrogenase, G6PD, which is supposed to get rid of free radicals in the
blood. Free radicals are molecules or atoms with an unpaired electron. These unpaired
electrons seek a pair with another electron from different molecules and can cause a
damaging chemical reaction, which can lead to the cell s death. Favism has multiple
symptoms, which include fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, headache, fever,...

It was treated through the avoidance of fava beans. If favism is such a difficult
disease to live with, why do many of Mediterranean descent still have it? Favism
actually has helped in the past, this disease saved many from Malaria. Malaria is
an infectious disease that kills more than the 1 million infected. Once infected,
terrible fevers and chills, vomiting, and anemia will follow. It is especially
dangerous for children and pregnant women. Malaria is caused when a parasitic
protozoa enters the bloodstream through an infected female mosquitoes bite.
Neanderthals used plants 60,000 years ago to begin to treat it, and Ancient Greeks
used opium milk. However Favism came around, even with the potential of anemia,
it protected against the threat of Malaria, which was very common in these regions
and more fatal. If Favism allows for the survival of humanity and protection against
even more dangerous diseases, then it will stay in the gene pool. Now a while back,
most survival took place outside in fields where beans, such as fava, were cultivated
for food. In addition the housing situation was not the most sanitary thus the surplus
of mosquitoes whom all have the potential of carrying malaria. Malaria killed many
yet people with favism managed to survive. This disease saved humanity thus it will
stay in our gene
Analyzing Systems Using Data Flow Diagrams
Chapter 9 Analyzing Systems Using Data Flow Diagrams Key Points and Objectives
1. Data flow diagrams (DFDs) are one of the main methods available for analyzing
data oriented systems. 2. Through the use of (DFDs), which emphasize the logic
underlying the system, the systems analysts can put together a graphical
representation of data movement through the organization. 3. The data flow approach
has four main advantages over the narrative explanation of the data movement. They
are: A.Freedom from committing to the technical implementation of the system too

Better communication with users. They are familiar with how the business
operates. B.More stable systems, since the design is based on a business
framework. C.Increased understanding of the business by analysts. D.The system
will have increased flexibility and be easier to maintain. E.Elimination of
redundancy. 15.Physical data flow diagrams show how the system operates or
how the new system will be implemented. Physical data flow diagrams include:
A.Clarifying which processes are manual and which are automated. B.Describing
processes in greater detail. C.Sequencing processes in the order they must be
executed. D.Temporary data stores and transaction files. E.Specifying actual
document and file names. F.Controls to ensure accuracy and completeness.

4.6.2 Krawinkler and Nassar (1992)
A relationship was developed for the force reduction factor derived from the statistical
analysis of 15 western USA ground motions with magnitude between 5.7 and
7.7 (Krawinkler and Nassar, 1992).
C is constant which is dependent on period (T) and О± which is the strain hardening
parameter of the hysteretic model and a and b are regression constants.
4.6.3 Miranda and Bertero (1994)
The equation for reduction factor introduced by Miranda and Bertero (1994) was
obtained from a study of 124 ground motions recorded on a wide range of soil
conditions. The soil conditions were classified as rock, alluvium and very soft sites

The expressions for the period dependent force reduction factors RВµ are given by

the period at which the relative velocity of relative velocity of a linear system with
5% damping maximum within the entire period ranges.

The Skin You Live In By Michael Taylor
The book I chose to do an integrated unit on was The Skin You Live In by Michael
Taylor with second grade students aged 7 8 years old. The big, colorful pages are
vibrant and easy to absorb. This book delivers an important message about
acceptance to young readers. It also has a great message that we are all different
and the same and we should love ourselves for who we are. I have developed three
activities that introduce concept explorations and challenge students to accept all
cultures. It is very beneficial to involve learningstudents cognitively, emotionally, and
physically. These lessons demonstrate learning experiences that are beneficial and
relevant to children all over the world (Davis, 2011). For the math activity, I chose an
activity that came from China, it is called Five Up Dominos. The children will use
their math skills and practice addition and multiplication. For the science activity, the
students will do an experiment called Save the Flag. This activity teaches students
how to preserve certain material such as a countries flag. For the social studies
activity, the children will make a garland of flags based on a country they research.
The math concepts taught in this lesson are teaching the students how to use certain
math formulas, and practice addition and multiplication. It is beneficial for students
to know what tools to use for capturing and displaying information that is important
to them (Davis, 2011). The science concepts taught in this
And The Imporatance In The Gambler, By Fyodor
Dostoyevsky
The Gambler and the imporatance of distinct charachters in novels
No one can deny that the psychological novel displays to the greatest extent how a
variety of different characters is important for an enjoyable read. Such is the
emphasis on the internal events and the inner mental life of its characters, that this
type of the novel is probably one of a kind in which characterization is more
prominent than in all other literary genres. First examples originate from earlier
epochs, but only a few could argue whether one of the greatest representatives of this
genre was a Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky or not. Though he is best known for
his other novels, Crime and Punishment, The Idiot, The Possessed and The Brothers
Karamazov, this text offers a take on characters of his fascinating short novel The
Gambler which was written in 1866. Two topics are woven within the zealously
intricated storyline. The one is desperate longing for a distant woman and the another
one is a passion for gambling that Dostoyevsky himself at the time was struggling
with. At the same time, the novel was inspired by the topic ... Show more content on

A school shooting occurred on February 14, 2018. The shooter is 19 year old
Nikolas Cruz. Cruz had planned this for a while. He slipped into the school carrying

What Is The Theme Of Motherism In The Color Purple
Victims of a triple jeopardy of classism, sexism and racism, they are trampled upon
at the bottom of the food chain. Yet, giving life to those that take their sustenance
and essences, they are left with the burden and oppression to carry. The idea of
labelling a woman as a black mother perpetuates an ideology that blackness is not
encompassed in mothering. The black woman never granted the opportunity, during
or after slavery, to access the white privilege of motherhood. Thus, she cannot attain
the white definition of motherhood. Alice Walker with her writing would see no
problem with the removal of the black woman from an apparent white ideal of
motherhood. Womanism, then would stand in solidarity for the misunderstood bad

Sophocles’ Oedipus Cycle – Antigone, as a Feminist
Essay
Sophocles Oedipus Cycle Antigone, as a Feminist
Throughout history, women have always stood in the shadows of men. In many
cultures, the role of women has always been to be seen and not heard. As one of the
first feminists in world literature, the character Antigone, of Sophocles Oedipus Cycle
, displays fine characteristics of a great female leader in order to stand up against
male dominance for her religious, political, and personal beliefs. When the king
denies her brother, Polynices, proper burial, Antigone goes against state law by
burying him herself in order to protect heavenly decree and maintain justice. In doing
this, she steps out of her place as a woman in a male dominated society.

A sort of role reversal takes place between her and her father. She takes the position
of the father and head of the family while her blind, helpless father acts as the child
dependent upon Antigone for survival. She is in charge of making the decisions,
caring for him, and being his shoulder as well as his eyes. In leading him and caring
for him, she develops herself into a much stronger woman than the women of her
society, becoming strong both mentally and physically. It is during this time in her
life that Sophocles develops Antigone s most important trait, her strong will.
Years later, after Oedipusdeath, Antigone uses the characteristics and qualities that
have developed inside of her through the years towards fighting for that which she
believes. When the king denies her brother a proper burial and makes it illegal for
anyone to bury him in Sophocles Antigone, Antigone decides it is up to her to take
justice into her own hands and give him a proper burial. As a feminist she stands up
to male dominance in order to make her views heard.
Antigone forces her political and religious views on the male dictator and his
domain when she places heavenly decree above state law by burying her brother,
Polynices. In ancient Greece, it was believed that if a body were not buried, the
spirit would roam the earth and never reach heaven. By not burying Polynices body,
King Creon took the power of the gods away by deciding that Polynices did not

The Importance Of Extracurricular Activities And

Try to remember your first day at school. Generally, teachers cannot even remember
the name of any one of their students. Now, how exactly are they supposed to
remember all of their 120 students personal lives? Contrary to that belief, most
students believe that teachers should account for their extracurricular activities and
personal lives. But, not only is that not possible, it is not plausible. Obviously, for
students, keeping up with their work and personal lives is a hard task to manage, but
developing their time management skills is something each student will need to learn
to do as they continue their studies in college. Teachers should not have to plan their
curriculum around student responsibilities due to the numerous types of jobs and
extracurricular activities students take part in. According to Dunbar s Number, we as
people can only remember at most 150 names, of course, that number is the
maximum. On average, according to 21 percent of the faculty members of West
Warwick Public Schools, the average numbers of students per class would be 120 to
125 students per year. Therefore, it makes sense teachers would struggle at
remembering even 125 names, let alone their complex personal lives. Teachers, along
with their students names, would have to remember their students personal lives and
then go on to create a curriculum based around those numerous activities. Obviously,
most teachers would find that unreasonable. Therefore, it is more than clear teachers

The History Of Geographic Information Systems ( Gis )
Introduction:
Recent research on interpolation of climatological and meteorological information
with the support of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has shown that
interpolation has a large development potential within climatology and meteorology.
At the same time the demand for interpolated data products are increasing, numerical
weather models are working at higher spatial resolutions and may be initiated by
gridded data from observations. Interpolation is a method of getting new data from
some known data points. In India, many weather data is from official departments
and there are many weather sites, but in some areas it is difficult to obtain weather
data, so we will use interpolation methods to get climate data of that areas.
Interpolation can be defined as the estimation of an unknown value of the variable, at
some point where no measurement is available, where the estimate is made using
known measurements obtained at a set of sample locations. With the advent of
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), numerous spatial interpolation methods have
been applied to create continuous surfaces of climate variables at various spatial
(watershed, regional, and global) and temporal (hourly, daily, monthly, seasonal, and
annual) scales. The prediction of weather condition is essential for various
applications. Like weather prediction, soil moisture, climate data monitoring, rainfall,
population prediction, agriculture, image processing etc. Regression model, Feed

However, this forgotten language is available for those who seek God, especially in

through dreams where the quiet voice of God is able to reach one in a most intimate
way. Dreams are one of the ways that Crist reveals himself to us and touches our
hearts on a very personal level.
Historically speaking, dreams have been the most prominent form of communication
between the creator and his people. Because of this, Satan has worked hard to
convince people to ignore God s message in the form of dreams and visions.
Unfortunately, today very few Christians are

The work by Mayo in the Hawthorne studies demonstrated that the employment
relationship was important, and that were employees felt the employer cared and
they felt important they were likely to work harder (Gillespie, 1993). Employees
regularly state that the best employers are those that provide a workplace which is
stimulating and enjoyable, where there is trust and they feel they are treated
equitably (Buchanan amp; Huczynski, 2011). While some of these elements may be
assessed by looking at issues such as compensation and working condition, they are
all likely to reflect the organizational culture and the attitude towards looking after
employees. Therefore, before looking at specific strategies and approaches to
different aspects of HR, the concept of culture, which will impact on all areas of
operations needs to be considered. Hofstede (2003) defined culture as the collective
programming of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of
people from another . Corporate culture refers to the intangible aspects of companies,
including the interactions at an interpersonal level, and values, morals and ethics
which permeate the way that decisions are made and polices are implemented
(Buchanan amp; Huczynski, 2011). Just as when one undertakes international travel,
and sees different cultures where there are different attitudes and traditions, one can

Comparing Beowulf and Michael Crichton s The 13th Warrior
Michael Crichton intertwined some aspects of Beowulf with his own thoughts to
produce the drama, The 13th Warrior. Beowulf, written down by an unnamed
Christian monk in the 8th century, served as a framework for the plot of The 13th
Warrior. Beowulf and The 13th Warriorhave many differences but the similarities
that they share are more abundant through out the two pieces.
Instead of doing a direct translation of Beowulf, the writer of the The 13th Warrior
used his creativity to fabricate a new story. To start off, The 13th Warrior is seen
through the eyes of Antonio Banderas character, Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan, while Beowulf

Like Beowulf and Ahmed, Grendel and the bear men had incongruous reasons for
attacking Herot.
Every night the men of Beowulf would stay up late laughing, dancing, drinking;
celebrating their greatness. Grendel grew weary of this night after night and
eventually sought his revenge. Grendel attacked because he was impatient but the
bear men of The 13th Warrior had a completely different reason. They were a fairly
selfish group of men who wished to dominate other villages around them; therefore
they attacked Herot, showing their power. The 13th Warrior had to keep something
in common with Beowulf in order to be acknowledged as being derived from the
epic poem.
There are a few scenes in The 13th Warrior that are comparable to scenes in
Beowulf. When Ahmed and his men were attacked by the bear men in the small
hut, they fought for a while and the bear men fled back into the night to their cave.
This scene is correspondent to when Beowulf defeated Grendel in the mead hall.
Grendel fled back into the night, down to his cave under the hellish waters of the
lake. After these scenes in Beowulf and The 13th Warrior another event takes place
that is much like each other. Beowulf is asked to find Grendel s mother and slay
her as well. He searches for hours in the lake until he is snatched by her and is
carried to her cave. Beowulf slaughters her here. In The 13th Warrior Ahmed and his
comrades murdered the bear men s mother, just as

Calypso musicoriginated in Venezuela, Trinidad, and Tobago during the start of the
20th century. It was traced back to West African Kaiso and the arrival of the
French planters and their slaves in the 1800s. People think that these songs were
introduced during the French settlement of the island of Trinidad. An African
slave named Gros Jean is thought to be the first Calypsonian, or someone who
makes Calypso music. Over the last century Calypso music has been becoming

The Roman Colosseum Of Rome
When I ask you to imagine Italy and all the vast architecture, what do picture? I am
going to assume you would picture colosseums. The piece of art I chose to research
was the granddaddy of them all, the Roman Colosseum. This is potentially the most
famous monument to survive the classical period. Today, the Colosseumis one of
Rome s most popular tourist attractions, attracting millions of visitors every year.
This massive amphitheater is located in the center of Rome, Italy. During ancient
roman times these massive amphitheaters were commonly placed around cities.
Eventually there were well over 250 amphitheaters in the Roman empire(Hopkins).
However, no other amphitheater competes in size. What sparked the want to build
such a massive amphitheater? Why is this so important? Years prior to the
construction of the Colosseum, Rome was dealing with a massive civil war which
destroyed the city. At the time of construction, Rome s emperor was Vespasian s
and his decision to build the Colosseum on the site of Nero s lake can be seen as a
gesture of returning a part of the city to the people which emperor Nero had
appropriated for his own use (Roman Colosseum History). However, Vespasian
never saw the completion of his Colosseum due to his untimely death. His son, Titus
would go on to open the Colosseum to the public in AD 80. The Colosseum
remained in service for 450 years. The Colosseum is also known as The Flavian

The novel leads the reader to a new understanding of refugees with the demonstrated
views of pain, determination, survival and freedom, which are brought to life
throughout the novel. The fall of Saigon in 1975 provides the momentum for Mai and
her daughters, Phuong and Linh, with Mai s brother Minh, his wife Hoa and their
three sons, to escape the new regime that has transformed their country into a prison.
The novel Only the Heart shows that just because they are refugees they are not ...

her daughter. One of the many similes that the writer used was: The world slides

Hinduism, Buddhism, And Classical Hinduism
Hinduism is a very broad term that encompasses a multitude of different
backgrounds, traditions, beliefs, and practices. Hinduism, as we know it today, has
gone through many changes. To fully understand how Hinduism became as it is
currently, knowledge of its development over the course of history is essential. This
paper will demonstrate the primary shifts of its central beliefs, practices, and goals
between periods of Early Vedic, Late Vedic, and Classical Hinduism
.
Many of the core beliefs of Hinduism have evolved over time, with some becoming
increasingly clearer, and others going from merely an idea into full fledged beliefs.
Karma, Dharma, and the theory of Samsara and moksha are the core beliefs that
almost all who define themselves as a practicer of Hinduism would accept. The
belief of karma started out in the Early Vedic periodmerely as ritualistic action or
labor . It transformed into a moral law that incorporated the idea that all actions
have fruits, whether good or bad. Action, which springs from the mind, from
speech, and from the body, produces either good or evil results . This concept of a
law of karma where good actions yield good results, and bad in bad, extends from
the Vedic idea of consequential action from the confines of the ritual to everyday life.
Dharma has been, and continues to be, closely related to karma and samsara. In
early Vedic religion, dharma was considered to be the performance, or obligation of
Vedic ritual action. Dharma was
The Pros And Cons Of Assistive Technology
Assistive technology has greatly improved in the past years. From computer to
telephones to even Post It notes. The world has advanced quite a way since we only
had sign language and braille. We now have specialized computers that read where
your eyes point so you are able to communicate with the rest of the world through a
computerized voice. Assistive technologyhas improved in a variety of different ways
throughout the years, mostly technologyfor the hearing, seeing impaired as well as
paralyzed people within the world.
Many advancements have been made for the mobility impaired. There has been a
computer made that uses a red dot laser in order to read which way your eyes look
so the words on a computer screen may be said aloud (Filipczak 1). This helps
people because if they happen to have no ability to make the necessary movements
to be able to communicate, they now only have to move their eyes in order to be
able to talk to people. There are also advanced wheelchairs that all the impaired
needs to do is move a stick to be able to move (Filipczak 4). Now people only have
to move their hands in order to move about. Another thing for the mobil impaired is a
keyboard overlay which allows those with limited mobility to type and rest their
hands on the keyboard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are apps that allow the words on a computer screen a lot bigger for the people
who have trouble seeing and/or have blurry vision(Filipczak 2). Also there have
been braille printers made which will help if a blind person needs to read an
article, they can print it out and read it by touching it (Filipczak 3). Something as
little as a magnifying glass can be counted as assistive technology because it helps
the person see the words bigger than they are(Vlasak 1). This helps people who have
a hard time seeing be able to read words on a computer screen or be able to to read an
article that they can t see because they are
The Geological And Geographical Conditions That Set The...
Chapter 1
1)Describe the geological and geographical conditions that set the stage for North
American history. In the geological aspect, the Native Americans that tended to the
land did not aggressively control the land leaving rich soil for the incoming
Europeans to later on control. But they also burnt down many trees to create living
spaces for the tribes. Geographically it was good for the Europeans because it was by
the water and all the rocks underneath the top layer of soil were rich for farming.
2) Describe the origin and development of the major Indian cultures of the Americas.
The Indian Tribes like the Aztecs and the Incas were very infamous for working the
fields, like taking care of corn and crops, which later reached the Southwest first and
later on North America. This led to the cultivation of beans and maize in the
southwest which inevitably started farming in America.
3) Explain the developments in Europe and Africa that led up to Columbia s voyage
to America. Because Spain and Portugal were rivals, they were always trying to out
beat each other. Since the Portuguese set up trading posts in Africa first, other
European countries started and later on Spain set up posts too. Because the
Portuguese didn t like taking water routes, it took them longer to get to India through
land to get spices and jewels. While this was happening, the Spanish people became
unified and seeing that they were now stronger, planned to outstrip their rivals of the

The Differences Between Legalism And Confucianism
Q: Han Fei Zi was known for synthesizing and refining the legalist theories and
practices that had been developed before him. Explain his views on law, statecraft and
power. Comment on the fundamental differences between Legalism and
Confucianism.
Han Fei Tzu:
Legalism, is an ancient Chinese philosophy concerned with the art of rulership and
the stability of the state. Along with hundreds of other philosophical schools,
legalism emerged during the Warring States Period (453 422 BC), a time of intense
political and intellectual turmoil. Unlike other schools of thought, legalism defined
the strength of the state, through a system of punishments and rewards, propagated
by common laws. Neither concerning itself with Confucian idealization of the past,
or the morality of man, legalisms pragmatic system of governance, as best defined by
Han Fei Zi, ended the hundreds of years of warfare and unified China. As
aforementioned, Legalism was at the forefront of philosophical discourse during the
Warring States Period. The Warring States Period was a time of both immense growth
and conflict, as the remaining seven states fought over the dominance of China.
Although through much of the Warring States Period, the Zhou Dynasty claimed
dominance over China, by the end of the two hundred and twenty five year long
period, the Kingdom of Qin emerged victorious. While much of the Warring States
Period consisted of warfare, the era also saw the spread of philosophical ideas

Giovanni And Lusanna Analysis
Through the study of the records of courts, both secular and ecclesiastical, which
exists in thousands of European and American archives and libraries, a patient and
careful researcher can reconstruct particular images of the world we have lost and
of the people who inhabited that world. From this vast, largely untapped repository
of judicial records, Gene Brucker uses the notarial protocols of Ser Filippo Mazzei,
which contains the transcripts of the litigation in the archiepiscopal court and the
catasto records, which provides information about Florentine households, to piece
together the dossier of Giovanni and Lusanna. The story of Giovanni and Lusanna
explores the love and marriage in renaissance Florence and uncovers the gradation of
the city s social hierarchy and the role of women in society. Though disputes over...

Many of Giovanni s witnesses that were summoned were from noble families
indicating elite ties. But most of those called to testify for his side were Lusanna s
neighbors and erstwhile friends form the same artisan community to which her
father and her first husband had belonged (Brucker, 26). Their evidence was seen
as particularly informative concerning Lusanna s character and her motives,
though the reliability of their testimonies was not taken for granted and revealed
their personal bias against her. The uncertainty of lies being told, bribes being
given, or stories being altered due to emotional attachment was always be taken
into account. The people who testified for Lusana were people of low status and
reputation, whose evidence was discredited because they were bound to her by ties
of blood and friendship (Brucker, 27). Other testimonies, both from Giovanni and
Lusanna, were discredited for other reasons that did not make them reliable sources.
Not only did social credibility play a role in this case but gender as
Analysis Of William Wilson A Trick Of The Mind

Writing Composition
6/2/17
A Trick of the Mind Every story has a protagonist and antagonist, often thinking of
them as two different people with either similar or coinciding personalities and
traits, the battle between good and evil. However, the protagonist and antagonist
could also be the same person. Everyone always has different emotions we all have
our own, dark side, or for some, their own alter ego. This idea of a dark side, is a trait
which strongly resonates in Edgar Allan Poe s protagonist William Wilson in his
short story William Wilson. William creates a visual alter ego of himself. William
Wilson s alter ego, is a trick on his mind, with a lack of parental support, which is
created by the need for control, and finally the insecurity within his own self.
William Wilson s lack of parental support causes his poor mental health. He
introduces himself by stating his personality; I wanted people always to do things
my way; I acted like a wild fool; I let my desires control me. (Poe 6). William, even
from a young age, is born with a controlling attitude, to everyone around him, even
his parents. He also despise his parents, considers them as weak and unhelpful, My
father and mother, weak in body and mind, could do little to hold me back. (7). He
also dominates his parents. We also see his parents are weak where he is strong,
asserting his dominance, When their efforts failed, of course my will grew stronger
(7).

Historical Significance Of The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War is a blank page in the history of the U.S. foreign policy. As a matter
of fact, there have been many public and congressional debates about the American
intervention in Vietnam and the morality of the political decision that proved to be
fatal for both countries. Undeniably, the Vietnam War belongs in the period of the
Turbulent Sixties which along with other tremendous political events such as the
Civil War, divided the American society for decades. Until today the memory of the
war still haunts the American conscience. Thus, the purpose of the essay is to
examine the significance of the VietnamWar as a collective memory in the American
society. Specifically, the main focus will be on how the remembrance of the Vietnam
War, as well as the U.S. policy has been constructed in the... Show more content on

From the late twentieth century on, cultural historians and psychologists have
stressed the importance of the memory in an attempt to provide insight to the
traumatic past and the process of reconciliation, both in the political as well as the
cultural domain. Furthermore, memory is considered of high importance when it
comes to the formation of identity either for individuals, groups or a nation as a
whole. According to Marita Sturken s statements in her book Tangled Memories: The
Vietnam War, the AIDS Epidemic, and the Politics of Remembering, memory is
crucial to the understanding of a culture precisely because it indicates collective
desires, needs, and self definitions (2). Additionally, memory and history are distinct
from cultural memory, which is a field of contested meanings that interacts with
American cultural elements in order to produce concepts of the nation, particularly in
events of trauma, where both the structures and fractures of a culture are exposed

Uses Of Symbolism In Maus By Vladek Spiegelman
The Holocaust was a horrible atrocity. This event killed six million jews and
seventeen million victims overall, but many jews survived to tell the story of how it
was inside the camps and how they were treated. One was Vladek Spiegelman, a
resourceful man that had it rough during the Holocaust. His son, Artie Spiegelman,
wrote the book Mauswhich he tells the story of his father when he was in Auschwitz
and tells about his life in the time Artie is writing the book. In Artie s book, Maus,
he uses a lot of symbolism in his work to get his point across. In Maus, Art
Spiegelmanuses symbolism to help the readers understand his characters and the
conflicts they face, along with much more. To find symbolism, one must first know
the meaning of the term. Symbolism is defined as the use of symbols to represent
ideas or qualities. Symbolism is used all the time to help the audience understand
what they are reading or seeing. Artie uses symbolism to define the characters he put
in the book by drawing them as animals instead of humans. He also had different
examples of symbolism like the conflict on the character s mask, his father s
resourcefulness, his mother s journal, and the swastika pathway that he put in the book
to help readers understand.
The first example of symbolism that caught reader s attention was the characters in
his book. Artie depicted them as animals and not just any animals, animals that
described their ethnicity. The Jews were mice, scared rodents
Pros And Cons Of The Fifth Amendment
The Fifth Amendment (Amendment V) to the United States Constitution is part
of the Bill of Rights, amendment (1791), No person shall be held to answer for a
capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a
Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when
in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for
the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in
any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or
property, without due processof law; nor shall private property be taken for public use,
without just compensation.
Means A person in police custody may refuse to answer any questions relating to
the crime that he is suspected of committing. The Supreme Court has ruled that this
applies to not only the trial but also, police interrogations. Moreover, if the police
want to question a suspect, they must first give him Miranda warnings. Is it genuine
that to capture you, a cop needs to let you know the Miranda rights and inquire as
to whether you get it? Imagine a scenario in which somebody continues saying they
don t get it. As indicated by me No. This is something individuals got from TV.
Cops don t have to peruse you your rights unless you are in authority and they are
addressing you. On the off chance that they are not addressing you, they don t have to
reveal to you anything. On the off

How did college basketball form and how has it changed over the years?
Basketball is one of the most watched or frequently played sport in history, on top
of soccer, football, or baseball. In this essay, I will answer the question, and tell
about some important events in basketball history. Basketball started in 1891. It
has now grown into one of the most popular sports in history. Basketball was
invented in December 1891 by Canadian James W. Naismith. An instructor at the
YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, he sought a suitable indoor game to keep
his students fit and warm during the cold New England winters. With wire mesh
backboards. He formulated 13 rules, most of which still apply today. In 1893, the
first women s game was played at the Smith College, in Northampton,
Massachusetts, USA. And soon to spread all over the world. Rules of the game of
basketball. Basketball is a team sport. Two teams of five players each try to score
by shooting a ball through a hoop elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is
played on a rectangular floor called the court, and there is a hoop at each end. The
court is divided into two main sections by the mid court line. If the offensive team
puts the ball into play behind the mid court line, it has ten seconds to get the ball
over the mid court line. If it doesn t, then the defense gets the ball. Once the
offensive team gets the ball over the mid court line, it can no longer have possession
of the ball in the area in back of the

What Are The Similarities Between Love Songs And Poems
Even though everyone has a different way to articulate love, expressions have been
developed that are now commonly used in love songs and poems.
The two very contrasting sides of love are often compared directly. This comparison
shows that the good cannot exist without the bad side, making love highly equivocal.
Although anyone would want to avoid feeling grief the feeling accompanying it
being joy overshadows the hurt one has to endure. This may lead to confusion about
whether or not love is beneficial or harmful in the long run. This emotional
disorientation will force people to confront the fact that it could be wrong, but it
could [be] right and leave them to decide whether the damage love does can be
healed by the bliss it simultaneously creates.
A frequent topic in love songs and poems is the eternality of love. This often
includes the use of hyperboles as the Lyrical I talks about the kind of love that lasts
forever or until the end of time . Such phrases create the idea of some cases of love
being indestructible and support the traditional roman catholic wedding vows that
say marriage will last until death do us part . It is typical of partners to believe their
love to be endless and claim that nothing could ... Show more content on

The All white Oscar nominee also promote or shows that segregation of people of
color still exist in the United States. Racial segregation according to the National
Humanities Center, was a system derived from the efforts of some white
Americans to keep African Americans in a subordinate by denying them equal
access to public facilities and ensuring that blacks lived apart from whites This is
evident when, Oscars voters are about 91% white and 76% male, according to a
new Time study. (Los Angeles Times). Also the major or biggest category of the
award nominees are all white, leaving some black actors and actresses at the minor
level. Jada believe that if people of color are not given equal treatment just as
whites, they should encourage themselves as one powerful people, and put
resources together to make a difference in their community. Jada says, That maybe
is time that we recognizes that if we love and respect, and acknowledge ourselves in
a way which we are asking others to do that, that is the place of true power. Similarly,
Martin Luther King a civil right activist who fought against racial segregation. King
mobilized Montgomery s African Americancommunity to boycott the city s public
transportation, demanding equal rights for all citizens on public transportations. This
happened when Rosa Parks was jailed for refusing to give up her seat to a white man

What Is The Theme Of The Senttry By Wilfred Owen
Hello my name is Jarod Class: Y2JB and today for my IOC I ve chosen the poem
The Sentry by Wilfred Owen. In this poem Wilfred Owen actually experiences this
event as they were taking cover from enemy artillery shells and unfortunately one
of the sentries was hit by one of the shells and were blinded therefore this poem
was very personal to him. Owen began writing the poem the Sentry while he was
receiving hospital treatment in Crag Lockhart in 1917. He then made alterations
while he was in Scarborough 1918 when he was training to return to France and
the poem was finally completed in September of 1918 a few weeks before his
timely demise during the war. This is personal to Wilfred Owen as this was his
account of an isolated incident of what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

beginning of the stanza this could also show the last of his dignity leaving him as
he remains fearful of what could happen to him. In the last part of the stanza
Wilfred Owen tell us the readers on how I forgot him there this shows that you
need to be selfless and that you can t do anything but move on in order to protect
the other sentries he have to leave the injured behind. In the last stanza Wilfred
Owen reflects on what happened during those events how his emotions towards
those such as arm chair patriots. When Wilfred Owen says the phrase I try not to

agony from the soldier wounded would be and has been unforgettable and he as well
as other members such as the surviving sentries that witnessed the event will have to

  • 2. Essay on Lahiri s the Namesake Anna Mantzaris English 1B 08 March 2013 Gogol Versus Nikhil Gogol grapples with his name throughout the majority of the novel, yet this tension was in the makings even before his birth. Ashoke and Ashima being immigrants set Gogol up to live in two different cultures, American and Bengali. Many children of immigrants may feel like Gogol, having one foot in each world. Gogol framed his struggle with cultural identity through something tangible, his name. In Jhumpa Lahiri s novel, The Namesake, Gogol s struggle with cultural identity is exposed most greatly by the name others call him and his reaction to it. On Gogol s first day of school, he gets his first taste of the cultural tension that his name and good name generate in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reader is convinced that Gogol has had many experiences of his name being said with hesitation and lack of ease that normal American names are pronounced with. Gogol must often compare himself to his peers via how teachers and other authorities handle his unique name. Furthermore, Gogol himself is consumed with doubt in regards to his name, what it means, and how it ties him to his heritage in a way he in unsure how to accept. However pleased Gogol may have been with Mr. Lawson s approach, everything changes when the class reads The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol. With growing dread and a feeling of slight nausea, he watches as Mr. Lawson distributes the books...the sight of it [ Gogol ] printed in capital letters on the crinkly page upsets him viscerally (89). Gogol wants nothing to do with his name at this point, even the book it is printed in is particularly battered, the corner blunted, the cover spotted as if by a whitish mold, (89). The confusion Gogol associates with his own name infects him and things around him, just like the warmth [that] spreads from the back of Gogol s neck to his cheeks and his ears, (91). The rest of his classmates, begin to moan in unison, (92), and Gogol feels betrayed, (91). Gogol takes the class s negative reaction to the Russian author s biographical information as a personal assault. It reinforces his rejection to his own name as each time the name
  • 3. Analysis Of A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings When one thinks of an angel, they think of a beautiful, angelic creature clothed in white, with dazzling wings, a holy being floating gracefully through the air. On the contrary, in A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings: A Tale for Children (AVOMWEW) written by Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez, Pelayo and Elisenda, along with their sick child, live very closely to the ocean surrounded by pesky crabs. They believe that the smell from the crabs is causing their child s sickness. After killing many crabs, Pelayo walks outside to find a very old man with enormous wings covered in mud, who they believe to be an angel. The next day, upon the arrival of the townspeople, Pelayo and Elisenda have an idea to charge the townspeople five cents to see the angel. As soon as they started gaining great wealth, however, their situation began to decline, as the townspeople got bored of the angel and left to see the little girl who had turned into a spider for disobeying her parents. Soon the townspeople began to leave, therefore causing the couple to stop gaining money, thus leading to their downfall. However, they were surrounded by many riches, therefore not affecting them as much. Much to the relief of the couple, several years later the old man flies away. One can argue that the old man in AVOMWEW was not intended to be an angel, but MГЎrquez makes it pretty clear that he is an angel because the old man cured the child, bestowed great riches on Pelayo and Elisenda and the old man also contains the
  • 4. Revelation Narrative Revelation By : Hunter Newell I had only been in school for a mere few hours, but the reality had already started to settle in. My first four hours of the day were nothing to stress about, they were as easy as sinking a layup, but as the day went on, my eyes got heavier and the classes only got harder. I thought after listening to my first four teachers talk, that things were going to be as easy as last year, I thought I wouldn t have to stress, and it would be a cakewalk once again, I thought that I wouldn t have to study, just as I had done last school year. That all changed when I walked through the door of my fifth hour class. It was that moment that I realized that this school year was going to be nothing like the last, it would not... After all I would be getting a head start on my college credits. Instead of moping about how hard the class was going to be, I decided that I would accept the challenge that was being thrown at me and do my best to succeed. I wish I could say that I had completely dedicated to success in AP History, but that would be a lie, however I can proudly say that I did not quit, I accepted the

Two provisions I am going to choose are the First Amendment and search and seizure. The First Amendment and search and seizure are both provisions that individuals use to influence politics. The First Amendment is the freedom of speech and the freedom of assembly. The freedom of speech allows the individual citizen to say almost anything they want with no restrictions. The freedom of assembly allows individuals to assemble or get together to have protests that can influence the Legislators policy making. Jung has constructed and developed several concepts including extraversion and introversion, collective unconscious and archetypes (Hjelle and Ziegler, 1992). Besides, Jung has a system of personality (also known as psyche), which is analytical psychology, suggested that intrapsychic forces can motivate humans and the shared evolutionary history among people can actually derived different images (Hjelle and Ziegler, 1992). Jung therefore had found evidences from three sources including dreams, active imagination and delusions of paranoiacs and others (Jung, 1981). First, it was the dreams, and this was the main source. Since dreams are produced or happened involuntarily and spontaneously resulting from the unconscious psyche, so they are suitable for being a source because they are natural and cannot be altered by any conscious actions (Jung, 1981). Jung utilized this source by questioning the person in order to understand which ideas appeared in his/her dreams are known to him /her (Jung, 1981). Then from the ideas of the dreams that are unknown to him/her, Jung eliminated those were possibly known to him/her (Jung, 1981). For example, certain symbols appeared in the dreams of a person have to be excluded as those symbols may have been learnt by that person due to his/her occupation or living environments. In this ways, those symbols still cannot prove anything. Therefore, in order to prove the existence of archetypes, Jung had to look for ideas form the dreams that were not possible to be known to the individual but still work in a functional way that it represents the same thing or meaning which is understood from the history (Jung, 1981). The second source Jung utilized was by using active imagination which means a sequence of fantasies produced by

Reflection On Classwork My lesson began as class usually does, with students completing the Do Now up on the board: having notebooks and pencils ready, picking up the warm up sheet from the back, and writing the homework in their planner. Since there was no homework from the previous day, we were able to go right into the warm up. I walked around the classroom to make sure students had the warm up and were beginning to work. Students were unusually quiet, probably due to the camera and Keith s presence, so I reminded them that they were allowed to discuss the warm up. I stopped to help one student get started finding the missing side lengths of two similar triangles and helped another remember how to divide fractions for the last question. After the students had about 5 minutes to work on the warm up, I displayed a blank warm up using the document camera and asked for students to share their answers. I asked an additional question about what the scale factor was for the triangles and modeled using the scale factor to find the missing side lengths. pointed out to students that all the fraction questions related to a pair of corresponding side lengths in the triangles from the first question, recalling that we could use fractions to represent or find corresponding sides in similar shapes. Next, I introduced that we will be exploring proportional relationships on a graph and that we would be trying a new style of group work. I explained the structure to the students, that they would be in groups of

Also, because they can track users shopping and purchases, mobile payment systems can offer advanced personal shopper services such as endorsements and new deals based on one s location and past purchasing history. According to a recent Pew Research survey, nearly 66 percent of participants believe their smartphones will replace traditional payment options like credit cards and cash by 2020. As claimed by those that doubt cash will truly disappear, mobile payments will never replace cash. Data from Intuit shows that 55 percent of the nation s 27 million small businesses do not accept credit cards. Despite study after study proving otherwise, many merchants believe it is too expensive to take credit. Given this, the likelihood of those merchants adopting mobile payment technology in the near future seems slim. (Quinn, M. 2014) It is too unlikely to expect cash payments to disappear completely. Starting off with a successful person is one of Gladwell s tactics; he draws you in with a poster child for success. Also, throughout the books he uses engaging pop culture references: the university s enormous mainframe computers stood in the middle of a vast white room, looking, as one faculty member remembers, like one of the last scenes in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Now, how exactly are they supposed to remember all of their 120 students personal lives? Contrary to that belief, most students believe that teachers should account for their extracurricular activities and personal lives. But, not only is that not possible, it is not plausible. Obviously, for students, keeping up with their work and personal lives is a hard task to manage, but developing their time management skills is something each student will need to learn to do as they continue their studies in college. Teachers should not have to plan their curriculum around student responsibilities due to the numerous types of jobs and extracurricular activities students take part in. According to Dunbar s Number, we as people can only remember at most 150 names, of course, that number is the maximum. On average, according to 21 percent of the faculty members of West Warwick Public Schools, the average numbers of students per class would be 120 to 125 students per year. Therefore, it makes sense teachers would struggle at remembering even 125 names, let alone their complex personal lives. Teachers, along with their students names, would have to remember their students personal lives and then go on to create a curriculum based around those numerous activities. Obviously, most teachers would find that unreasonable. Therefore, it is more than clear teachers

The History Of Geographic Information Systems ( Gis ) Introduction: Recent research on interpolation of climatological and meteorological information with the support of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has shown that interpolation has a large development potential within climatology and meteorology. At the same time the demand for interpolated data products are increasing, numerical weather models are working at higher spatial resolutions and may be initiated by gridded data from observations. Interpolation is a method of getting new data from some known data points. In India, many weather data is from official departments and there are many weather sites, but in some areas it is difficult to obtain weather data, so we will use interpolation methods to get climate data of that areas. Interpolation can be defined as the estimation of an unknown value of the variable, at some point where no measurement is available, where the estimate is made using known measurements obtained at a set of sample locations. With the advent of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), numerous spatial interpolation methods have been applied to create continuous surfaces of climate variables at various spatial (watershed, regional, and global) and temporal (hourly, daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual) scales. The prediction of weather condition is essential for various applications. Like weather prediction, soil moisture, climate data monitoring, rainfall, population prediction, agriculture, image processing etc. Regression model, Feed Forward

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The work by Mayo in the Hawthorne studies demonstrated that the employment relationship was important, and that were employees felt the employer cared and they felt important they were likely to work harder (Gillespie, 1993). Employees regularly state that the best employers are those that provide a workplace which is stimulating and enjoyable, where there is trust and they feel they are treated equitably (Buchanan amp; Huczynski, 2011). While some of these elements may be assessed by looking at issues such as compensation and working condition, they are all likely to reflect the organizational culture and the attitude towards looking after employees. Therefore, before looking at specific strategies and approaches to different aspects of HR, the concept of culture, which will impact on all areas of operations needs to be considered. Hofstede (2003) defined culture as the collective programming of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another . Corporate culture refers to the intangible aspects of companies, including the interactions at an interpersonal level, and values, morals and ethics which permeate the way that decisions are made and polices are implemented (Buchanan amp; Huczynski, 2011). Comparing Beowulf and Michael Crichton s The 13th Warrior Michael Crichton intertwined some aspects of Beowulf with his own thoughts to produce the drama, The 13th Warrior. Beowulf, written down by an unnamed Christian monk in the 8th century, served as a framework for the plot of The 13th Warrior. Beowulf and The 13th Warriorhave many differences but the similarities that they share are more abundant through out the two pieces. Instead of doing a direct translation of Beowulf, the writer of the The 13th Warrior used his creativity to fabricate a new story. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like Beowulf and Ahmed, Grendel and the bear men had incongruous reasons for attacking Herot. Every night the men of Beowulf would stay up late laughing, dancing, drinking; celebrating their greatness. Grendel grew weary of this night after night and eventually sought his revenge. Grendel attacked because he was impatient but the bear men of The 13th Warrior had a completely different reason. They were a fairly selfish group of men who wished to dominate other villages around them; therefore they attacked Herot, showing their power. The 13th Warrior had to keep something in common with Beowulf in order to be acknowledged as being derived from the epic poem. There are a few scenes in The 13th Warrior that are comparable to scenes in Beowulf. When Ahmed and his men were attacked by the bear men in the small hut, they fought for a while and the bear men fled back into the night to their cave. This scene is correspondent to when Beowulf defeated Grendel in the mead hall. Grendel fled back into the night, down to his cave under the hellish waters of the lake. After these scenes in Beowulf and The 13th Warrior another event takes place that is much like each other. Beowulf is asked to find Grendel s mother and slay her as well. He searches for hours in the lake until he is snatched by her and is carried to her cave. Beowulf slaughters her here. Years prior to the construction of the Colosseum, Rome was dealing with a massive civil war which destroyed the city. At the time of construction, Rome s emperor was Vespasian s and his decision to build the Colosseum on the site of Nero s lake can be seen as a gesture of returning a part of the city to the people which emperor Nero had appropriated for his own use (Roman Colosseum History). Hinduism, as we know it today, has gone through many changes. To fully understand how Hinduism became as it is currently, knowledge of its development over the course of history is essential. This paper will demonstrate the primary shifts of its central beliefs, practices, and goals between periods of Early Vedic, Late Vedic, and Classical Hinduism . Many of the core beliefs of Hinduism have evolved over time, with some becoming increasingly clearer, and others going from merely an idea into full fledged beliefs. Karma, Dharma, and the theory of Samsara and moksha are the core beliefs that almost all who define themselves as a practicer of Hinduism would accept. The belief of karma started out in the Early Vedic periodmerely as ritualistic action or labor . It transformed into a moral law that incorporated the idea that all actions have fruits, whether good or bad. Action, which springs from the mind, from speech, and from the body, produces either good or evil results . This concept of a law of karma where good actions yield good results, and bad in bad, extends from the Vedic idea of consequential action from the confines of the ritual to everyday life. Dharma has been, and continues to be, closely related to karma and samsara. In early Vedic religion, dharma was considered to be the performance, or obligation of Vedic ritual action. Dharma was

However, the protagonist and antagonist could also be the same person. Everyone always has different emotions we all have our own, dark side, or for some, their own alter ego. Basketball is one of the most watched or frequently played sport in history, on top of soccer, football, or baseball. In this essay, I will answer the question, and tell about some important events in basketball history. Basketball started in 1891. It has now grown into one of the most popular sports in history. Basketball was invented in December 1891 by Canadian James W. Naismith. An instructor at the YMCA Training School in Massachusetts, he sought a suitable indoor game to keep his students fit and warm during the cold New England winters. With wire mesh backboards. The two very contrasting sides of love are often compared directly. This comparison shows that the good cannot exist without the bad side, making love highly equivocal. Although anyone would want to avoid feeling grief the feeling accompanying it being joy overshadows the hurt one has to endure.
