Orange Shading Filters
Color correction is one of the most used things in photography and new technology is allowing for
artists to take inspiring photos that can truly make a difference. A picture s natural beauty can be
everything but when something is missing in a photo, adding a filter can change the perspective of
the picture to the way the photographer sees it. One of the most used type of colorcorrection is black
and white. Black and white pictures often show emotions like sadness or happiness, this is because
the color reminds people of older photos.Out of all of the other correction tools that are used to
change photos, this filter is the most dramatic. Another common filter that is used by photographers
is orange shading filters. This is a famous because

The Impact Of Media Industry On The World Essay
Media industry companies throughout the world has changed significantly during the last decade.
Just as once film industry has been threatened by and had to adjust to the introduction of DVDs
instead of VHS tapes, nowadays, a similar pattern can be identified with introduction of digital
platforms. Various media companies, including film and music production, distribution,
television, publishing, etc. have to not only adapt their services to this emerging development,
but also find new ways to keep up with direct and indirect competitors. The former ones include
large over the top services such as Netflix and Spotify, which have been a sort of pioneers in the
field of digital platform distribution and which are acquiring more and more power by day; the
latter ones are self production release platforms, most evident with Youtube replacing television
and blogs replacing printed magazines and newspapers. Canadian based media companies today
are struggling to keep up with the ongoing movement. This can be clearly seen from current
closures, merges that are the result of digital predominance of big american companies. Throughout
the course of the semester, both individually and in groups, we looked over various distribution
paths and explored the existing patterns both in class and through our assignments. In this carry
forward advice paper, I would like to look at some of the most prominent and noticeable changes in
the industry, especially in Canadian premises and draw some

Differences Between Ming And Qing
The early modern dynasties of China known as the Ming and Qing gained their political identity
from traditional Chinese cultures. After a long time of oppression from traditional Chinese ways
caused by the Mongols ruling over China there was an immediate reverse to Chinese tradition
once they lost their power. At the end of the Mongol reign the Ming dynasty came into power
hoping to restore the empire s traditions. It created a more centralized government to have better
power over the empire and worked to build and/or restore the Great Wall. They also moved the
capital to the more northern city of Beijing in order to control the Mongol invaders. They set in
place examinations as well to ensure the most knowledgeable scholars received civil service
positions. Chinaalso lived in the patriarchal society of their ancestors. Foot binding became a
popular practice as well as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These Mongols though developed their government based on the culture of the Chinese. The
emperors were often even Confucian scholars and very artistically inclined but strong militarily as
well. They conquered a large amount of the states around China and drastically gained power.
They used the same exams for civil service positions that the Ming dynasty and tradition Chinese
culture promoted, even taking it to the next level to form schools specifically for the exams. This
deep belief in the Confucian values is strong evidence of how the Qing dynasty used confucian and
traditional Chinese culture together to build a strong centralized and intelligent government. The
Ming and Qing dynasties China restored to its traditional socially, patriarchally, politically, and even
infrastructurally looking at the Great Wall. The culture of art and education became once again
powerful and traditions of Confucianism were once again largely influential and the sculpting tool

Lack Of Prime Ministerial Power In Canada
A topic of much debate in many political systems is how much power the head of state, or in some
cases such as in constitutional monarchies, the head of government holds. If the leader holds too
much power, the political process becomes undemocratic. Conversely if the leader has too little
power, government becomes inefficient, sometimes crippling the government completely for their
terms in office. In Canada, this can be seen in the effectiveness of a majority or minority
government, and the abilities of the Prime Minister in each case. In the latter case, many believe
that lack of prime ministerial power is attributed to the trend of ineffective minority governments
because of the ability for motions of non confidence to be passed, forcing... Show more content on

This is due to the nature of the inability to pass legislation without compromise between all
parties forming the current government. Although compromise is at the center of responsible
government, the inability to produce effective legislation and to govern efficiently because of
the need of compromise between varying political parties also limits the ability of governments
to provide their obligations to the citizens who placed them in power. These periods of
governance tend to revolve around a constant power struggle over a single issue, rather than
focusing on the larger affairs at hand. Again, examples in which these compromises, or rather lack
of ability to make these compromises, can be seen throughout Canadian history. One such
example of this was Prime Minister Joe Clark s minority Conservative government of 1979. In an
attempt to ensure prosperity, Clark attempted to run the government as if it was a majority, and
deliver on the platform on which he had run his election campaign. This was achieved by
attempting to follow in the footsteps of the last Conservative Prime Minister, John Diefenbaker.
Because of this, Clark was unable to deliver his own political agenda as

The Predicament of Amnesia
The Predicament with Amnesia Amnesia is a type of memory loss that one develops in certain
situations. It does not mean, however, that one forgets their self identity. It states that those who
have amnesia only have the trouble of acquiring new memories or forming new memories. Some
causes of amnesia are damage to the brain structures that form the limbic system, which is where
your emotions and memories are controlled, those who have Alzheimer s disease, seizures, strokes,
tumors in the area of the brain that controls memory, and also alcohol abuse. There are two main
different types of amnesia. The two types are retrograde and anterograde, and there are some
significant case studies in which these individuals had one or both types of... Show more content on

had left his house and was found wandering around the streets. When he was attended in the
hospital, doctors discovered he had a virus that caused holes in his brain. This condition was
called Encephalitis. This unfortunately left him with having anterograde and retrograde amnesia at
the same time. His affected areas were thalamus, hypothalamus, temporal lobes, occipito parietal
and frontal lobes, and amygdala. His memory had last between 7 30 seconds. Clive had a spatial
implicit memory. Within his emotional memory, he would gradually accept his condition. He was
still surprisingly able to recall some of his procedural memory. Another patient who dealt with a
similar situation of having both anterograde and retrograde amnesia was patient R.B. This patient
had a reduction of blood to the brain, which was caused by a heart bypass surgery. His lacerations
were restricted to the hippocampus. Thus, the result caused him to remain with an absence of

A Comparison Of Mein Kampf And White Man s Burden
Throughout both Adolf Hitler s political manifesto Mein Kampf and Rudyard Kipling s political
poem, White Man s Burden, they both have a few similarities and differences. In addition, these
similarities and differences might occur because of the context these individuals are writing. Mein
Kampf was completed in 1925 when he was awaiting in a jail cell. During this time, World War I
had just ended and the rise the fascism (an ideology that exalts the nation above the individual
and calls for a centralized government with a dictatorial leader, economic and social
regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition) was coming forth in Italy s government.
And at the same time, the government in Germany was crumbling, and even before the German
economy was a disaster. This was created to help influence the Nazi Party and the intended
audience being the Aryan race. Throughout his manifesto he discusses his childhood and how he
was most certainly born to be a leader and a great leader at that. In the scheme of things, he
portrays the fast that Aryans are the good and trusted people and Jews cannot on the other hand be
trusted at all. And on the harsher side says that Jews should fall off the face of the earth.
On the other hand, White Man s Burden is a political poem and was created in 1899, around the
same time as Hilter s manifesto. During this time it was the end of the Spanish American war.
Industrial Revolution was going on and also colonization was occurring by most

advantageous to use a distinct speaker for listening to low frequency sounds. Subwoofers come in

Statement Of Purpose To Become A Neonatal Nurse
About Me
I have many goals in my life. I want to be able to do better than what my mom has done and

want as long as I put my mind to it. My other goals in life would to become a either a neonatal

I want to become either a neonatal nurse practitioner because I love caring for sick babies and
helping them grow and improve. The main reason why I want to become to a neonatal nurse is

everyone I meet. You will never know what they could be plotting against you behind your back as

Now I think about the future way too much to the point where I get death and start to question
what happens when I m gone. I have already have everything planned out and know where I m
going to be doing and what not. I know I want to go to a community college and get my required
courses out of the way. If I enjoy the community college, I will eventually stay there and then go

Descriptive Essay About A House
Arkansas, Only about a hour, maybe two hours long drive away from home. Over the course of
the day we meet new and different people, eat good food, and give gifts. Everyone is overly
affectionate and helps out in the kitchen. Squeezing around twenty people in the tiny house is a
tight smoosh, even if our family is almost half of that group. The house itself may not be that
tiny but we re all gathered in just the kitchen and living room, making it seem like a smaller
space. At times, a few people stroll out the glass door, onto the patio and into the back yard, yet
even then it feels just a tad crowded, especially since we were around people we d never met.
From long road trips to the ice cream punch to eating way too many rice krispie treats in one
sitting, every part of that day went smoothly, giving off a joyful, pleasant vibe. Joyful is a great
feeling to have around Christmas time. The best part? It was all captured in one sweet picture.
Starting with my father, smiling into the camera with his fork mid bite, his long sleeve shirt is
beige like the walls of a new house. A Hoyt hat sits on his bald head, the camera giving his face a
shiny glowing appearance. Next to him sits Mari, his girlfriend. She s the best friend of Maleeah,
the host of this party and the person cooking everything we re enjoying. Mari s hair is closer to
white than it is blonde, her roots still showing up on the darker side. Round sunglasses pull her
hair out of her face. The lines on her blouse

Comparing Cronus And The Lightning Thief
The Story of Cronus and The Lightning Thief
The Story of Cronus is an interesting myth where Cronus eats his children in fear that they would
one day take his throne and overpower him. Rhea, his wife, hid their last child, a god named Zeus
in a cave in the heart of Mount Ida. He throve rapidly and soon developed great physical powers
along with wisdom and intelligence. With the help of Metis, Zeus succeeded in forcing his father to
disgorge his siblings. This caused a war in which Zeus had won with the help of the giants. This
myth has the theme the struggle for power since Cronus is afraid of his children overpowering him.
The novel The Lightning Thief, has the same theme as well since Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon fight
with each other. The Story of Cronus communicates with the theme the struggle for power since
Cronus ate his children so that they wouldn t take his throne. The myth states, Cronus having an
uneasy conscience, was afraid that his children might one day rise up against his authority, and thus
verify the prediction of his father, Uranus. This quote shows how Cronus was afraid ... Show more

Another example of a struggle for power is that Hades thought that Percy had stolen both his
Helm of Darkness and Zeus master bolt so that it could start a war between them. The novel
states, You took the master bolt and my helm. Had I not sent my Fury to discover you at Yancy
Academy, Poseidon might have succeeded in hiding his scheme to start a war. But now you have
been forced into the open. You will be exposed as Poseidon s thief, and I will have my helm back!

Darkness and the master bolt in an attempt to start a war between them. Both the novel and the
myth connect with each other through the theme, the struggle for

Asylum on Humanitarian grounds: Asylum in a foreign embassy or legation is a subject which
affords a good illustration of the change and development of the rules of international law. In
modern times, it is asserted, the right to asylum, if it were generally recognized, would tend to
constitute an abuse. It would interfere with good government. The practice of asylum is even
looked on with a tolerant eye and the personnel of a foreign legation are not very glad to use this
right. To the diplomatic agent concerned the practice is nothing but a burden. But the practice is
defended on humanitarian grounds. Motives of humanity exclude a rigid refusal to receive a man
who may be in peril of his life, but the general rule now is to limit the reception of such political

The question of whether the U.S should have an official language and whether bilingual language

In fact, according to M.E Mujica in his essay Why the U.S. Needs an Official Language, the U.S
government makes it easy for immigrants to live and work in their own native languages through
bilingual education, multilingual ballots and driver s license exams, and translators in schools and
hospitals who are paid by the government. Mujica further argues that providing most essential
services to immigrants in their native languages is expensive for American taxpayers and also
keeps immigrants linguistically isolated.
Miami, California have long history of bilingual education. Maurice Ferre, former mayor of

As defined by Merriam Webster, Existentialismis, a chiefly 20th century philosophical movement
embracing diverse doctrines but centering on analysis of individual existence in an
unfathomable universe and the plight of the individual who must assume ultimate responsibility
for acts of free will without any certain knowledge of what is right or wrong or good or bad
(Merriam Webster). Logotherapy/existential analysis is based on the premise that within one s
self there lies the 1) Freedom to will, 2) will to meaning , and 3), meaning to life . (Batthyany,
Alexander) Meaning to life as it pertains to classic existential theory and logotherapy, is defined
by the individual on a situational basis. It can vary based on what is essential to the individual and
their well being (Existentialism By Branch/Doctrine, The Basics of Philosophy). Frankl
concentrates on what it was that drives people to live, and determined that those who survived the
unspeakable circumstances of the Nazi camps had been those who focused on the meaning of their
lives. Frankl s psychological anthropological model addresses the ability for others overcome

Curves ... More than the average. An authentic person. A generous silhouette. Round and

meaning of plus size and what does it mean? The subject provoked controversy. What women are in
this category? What is a plus size silhouette?
We are often told via our social media platforms that our models are not really size anymore .
Whether it s pictures of our advertising campaigns, portraits of our fashion bloggers or photos of
our fans, the silhouette and size of the women we publish are criticized.
The plus size category refers to a range of silhouettes and sizes. Some women have small stature,

The views vary with respect to the plus sizes and there will inevitably be someone to oppose our
interpretation of the term. On the other hand, before commenting that this or that woman is not

the right to judge whether or not a woman is plus size ?

The Values Of Parenting And Child Discipline
Parenting and Child Discipline
For many years, discipline was and still is a grey line. By 2000, Studies were showing major
associations between physical punishment and mental health, physical injury, parent child
relationships and family violence in adulthood. This led many countries to take action against
violent punishments. Therefore, countries banned domestic violence after they decided that gentle
discipline is the best method to raise a kid. On the other hand, many parents are reluctant to leave
their physical ways of discipline. These techniques come from cultural, and religious beliefs that
have been rooted in the parents. The parents continue to use violence as a way to discipline their
kids, claiming that it is more efficient than gentle and soft methods of discipline.
To determine the weight of each side s argument, This issue must be passed through the laws of
ethics and morality. Ignoring the risks of violence that parenting can lead to, this method in the
viewpoint of many is considered to be more efficient and has faster results. Physical punishments
are deemed to be a firm way to show kids that they re disobediences are not tolerated. This is
believed to satisfy the parents desire for power by rooting a sense fear of the parents authority
within the children. In many religions such as Islam hitting a child is acceptable within limits.
These limits protect the child s physical and mental safety, yet are still effective to teach the child a

Savannah managed to stay alive through everything she went through growing up. As she aged
Savannah was abused by her father on a daily basis. When she was 18, Savannah, her mother, and

would have to be the fact that she tries to commit suicide multiple times and somehow managed to

you have to hurt Mama? Why do you want to beat up on a nice little kid like Tom? (Conroy, 117)

what he is. These are some of the factors that play part in the reason that Savannah is a survivor.
Throughout the story, The Prince of Tides, Savannah played somewhat of a major role. From

Essay about A Bronx Tale
A Bronx Tale It s the sixties. Racism is running hot through the streets of New York. One
neighborhood in particular, where one group of boys makes the choice that will change their
lives and everyone s around them forever. These boys are young, full of talent and smart. These
boys choose to take all of what they had and throw it away. What happens to these boys next is
something that you would not want to wish on anybody. Here these young talented boys cram into
a car and ride to the African American neighborhood. The boys toss burning bottle of alcohol
through a glass window into a store. With burning bottles shattering left and right there is one that

happy that he could live another day. Every day after that night Calogero used his talent and did

Frost, By Robert Frost
Robert Frost, an indigenous New England poet, is deserving of an ovation for his contributions
and magnitude in American Literature. Frost advises his readers to be actively engaged in
questioning the world we inhabit (49, Dickstein). In most of Frost s work, readers and critics enjoy
his choices of theme, likely being the outdoors and his surroundings. By using emotions recollected
in tranquility and his organic and inviolable relationship with his countryside, he celebrates New
Englands natural beauty throughout his literature using simple and accessible idioms. Edward
Garnett once predicted that Frost was destined to take a permanent place in American Literature
which he unquestionably has (40 49).
James S. Wilson praised Frost for his abiding humanity and the honesty of his portrayals of people
and situations, an honesty that disguises the inherent passion of his work. Like previously
mentioned, Frost s themes were often what caught the attention of many. As Morris Dickstein
explained in Critical Insights Robert Frost, the core themes were established early on and have
remained constant focal points up to the present, though revised and elaborated upon over time (40).
Prior to Frost s pursuit of poetry, he had worked on a farm. Having done that, he had many hours on
the land, with time to appreciate the green colors and natural sounds and beauty. Robert Frost had
educational background, including the renowned Dartmouth College and Harvard University, left his

The Effects Of Overpopulation On The Environment
The current world s population is estimated at approximately six billion people in the world and
even this number can be inaccurate. According to Sernau (2012), what is harder to estimate are the
effects that this growth and change will have on our planet. When looking at overpopulation and
the effects on the environment, we look at the overpopulationin cities and countries across the
nation. Many economic problems in our society place an impact on our environment from
overpopulation come from the overuse of resources, lack of resources, and pollution. There are
many solutions to this problem but the common factor is humans have to put controls in place and
take care of the environment, so the required resources do not become extinct.
Human population growth is a major contributor to global warming, given that more people means
more resources. When reading an article on population growth on climate change (Scientific
American, 2017), it reports that many population experts believe the answer lies in improving the
health of women and children in developing nations. By reducing poverty and infant mortality,
increasing women s and girls access to basic human rights (health care, education, economic
opportunity), educating women about birth control options and ensuring access to voluntary family
planning services, women will choose to limit family size (Scientific American, 2017). The birth
rate continues to be a big factor in overpopulation as reducing the family size and

What Is The Divide Between The Paleolithic Period And The...
The divide between the Paleolithic period and the Neolithic period could not be greater. However,
both time periods rely on each others advancements for the ultimate development of art, and
architecture. The Paleolithic time period is divided into three sections, lower, middle and upper.
This time period is essentially the beginning of human control over the environment. Humans were
now beginning to leave their mark, so to speak. During this time period, humans relied on hunting,
fishing, and farming for their survival, they began drawing in caves at this time. Cave art was the
ancient version of murals. The art depicted what the ancient culture valued most, life. During this
time period, creation was important and essential. Artists depicted everyday life and animals
because that is what they depended on for their livelihood.

bison who stand in darkness, alone in a cave, waiting to be discovered for thousands of years. The
details of the Two Bison is sharp and clearly depicted, the Two Bison is just one of many examples
of Paleolithic Art that remains today. Some pieces found in caves where they waited for

The experiment I am going to analyse is the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment. The Stanford
Marshmallow Experiment was conducted by Walter Mischel and his colleagues. The experiment
which started in the late 1960 s had results which became important when Walter Mischel turned it
into a longitudinal study. The Stanford Marshmallow Experiment is a test of gratification, and the
effects of being patient and not giving in to your desires. When Mischel started this experiment he

the change. This is why their was only one experimental group. The independent variable of the
experiment was the children s patience and the dependent variable which depended on this
patience as a child was their success and personality as an adult. Mischells study did contain many
generalisations, he discarded the effects of both nature and nurture. He discarded nature when he

Selective Breeding Vs. Natural Selection
Selective breeding has been used for many years to achieve the expression of desired traits in
animals and plants. Similar to natural selection, humans have developed artificial selection where
humans select the most desirable traits instead of the environment, this is what s known as selective
breeding. But in fact selective breeding does not select for the fittest phenotype like in natural
selectionit actually selects for the most desirable phenotypes which may cause harm to the
individual.
Natural selection selects against harmful alleles as they are disadvantageous to the individual and
possibly restricts its ability to survive till the age of sexual reproduction thus not being able to pass
on this harmful gene, whereas selective breeding selects for harmful alleles if seen desirable.
Selective breeding involves breeding organisms based on their phenotypes so that the desired traits
are passed onto successive generations, these desired alleles then increase (in frequency) in the
gene pool. This has a large commercial benefit as animal and crop products now contain higher
quality meat, quantity of milk, quality of wool, larger fruits etc.
The goal of selective breeding in animals is to either produce a pure breed (a breed that will
consistently produce offspring with the desired traits or to simply improve the quality of the
desired trait/phenotype (homozygous). This is achieved by inbreeding (where two closely related
individuals mate and produce offspring)

Aren T You The Good Man Analysis
Welcome back to the Phaser zone a podcast traversing a galaxy of texts as we endeavour to
explore the perpetual new world that is the science fiction genre.
Adam Roberts, academic, critic and novelist claimed, Science fiction is about the encounter with
difference. At its best science fiction provides the most supple and the most popular means of
exploring diversity and difference; it opens up new possibilities; it makes us think. Today we ll be
exploring that difference as it s represented within the very genre itself, mutating from its origins in
Swift s Gulliver s Travels, to become Scott s Blade Runner, and the virtual reality of Gibson s
Neuromancer. As represented in Pohl s Day Million and Sandberg s Kung Fury, Sci Fi as an ever

Blade Runner s L.A. 2019 sets the scene, a sprawl of urban spires amidst fiery miasma presenting
our nightmarish future in an aerial shot. Our anti hero is Deckard, a bureaucratic detective
confronting the world in monochrome, impassive as he methodically retires replicants. Riddley
Scott s euphemism sparks immediate discomfort, estranging us as we witness the progressive
humanisation of replicants throughout the film, in Rachel s tears and Roy Batty s breakdown
beside the lifeless Pris. Machines become more deserving of our empathy, whereas Deckard, a
seemingly flat character is simply there to do his job. Blade Runner s Voight Kampff test is the
quintessential exploration of Roberts diversity and difference [or lack of], assisting in the testing of
individuals to discover potential artificiality. However, Scott s mise en scene establishes the
apparatus as solely measuring bodily functions such as heart rate and eye movement in response to
emotionally provocative questions. Thus, by measuring the physical to scrutinise the human, Scott
suggests replicants, though imitations of humans are virtually indiscernible in regard to emotive
response. Furthermore, emotive response being product of the human condition, opens up new
possibilities of technological adoption of human individuality. Scott s Rachel, and Roy Batty have
become Tyrell s vision more human than human and arguably more so than our traditional hero.
Therefore, as Scott s Blade Runner gives rise to concerns regarding the distinction between human
and commodity, science fiction makes us think about the nature of our moral certainties, invariably
changing with interminable scientific and technological

Descriptive Essay On Trantopea
In a land far, far away there was a beautiful magic forest in a world called Trantopea. In this forest
there were many magical creatures, with different jobs. One creature who was especially
important in Trantopea was Pepper Mint. She was a large red and white creature, who was a
farmer of a very rare plant that she called mint. At that time mint had only existed in her world.
Many of the other creatures in the forest were very jealous of Pepper and her farm, many even
tried to steal it. One creature in particular, Joseph, wanted Pepper s farm very much. He was also
a farmer, but his farm was not as successful as Pepper s farm, as a result he had devised a detailed
plan to steal Pepper s farm. In Trantopea to seal something from someone all you had to do was
take it from them and it was yours forever, so in this case all Joseph had to do is pick one plant
from her farm and the farm was his forever. One day as Pepper was taking her daily walk, she
saw a bush rumble in the forest. She was very confused, but she continued her walk and
eventually forgot about it. What Pepper had not realized was that there were two little eyes
peeking out of the bush and watching her. These two eyes belonged to Joseph, who was trying to
find out a perfect time to try and steal Pepper s farm. Every day for a month, Joseph would watch
Pepper take her walk just to make sure that she took one everyday. He would keep track of the time
that she started her walk, what time she ended her walk, and how

St. Augustine and Bridgid of Kildare were two very influential people in the church during the

monasteries that they founded. Both St. Augustine and Bridgid were devout Christians who
contributed greatly to the growth of Christianity. Both of these people encouraged the spread of
Christianity, the belief in a life of solitude, and inspired many to follow in their footsteps. I
admire both St. Augustine and Bridgid of Kildare greatly. They began a new way of religious life

Augustine s father was a local Roman official and pagan, until he converted shortly before dying.
Monica, Augustine s mother, was a devout Christian and tried to raise her son as one also.
Augustine was a natural born leader in school, but at the age of sixteen he was forced to leave
because his father could no longer pay the tuition fees. Augustine turned to alcohol, gambling, and
prostitutes. A year later Augustine was able to return to school and studied law. When his studies
were completed at the age of eighteen he became a teacher. Augustine, despite his mother s wishes
for him to be a Christian, became a Manichaean. Manichaeans believed that one god created good
and another created evil, and that therefore no one was responsible for his or her sins. Monica
fervently prayed for her son s conversion, but he was stubborn and refused to do so. A year later,
while teaching in Milan, Augustine met Plato and Bishop Ambrose.
Soon Manichaeism became increasingly dissatisfying for Augustine. He became fascinated with the
teachings of Plato and was soon convinced that there was a single god. Augustine even began
attending mass to hear Ambrose preach. It seemed as if Augustine was working to reform his life,
but soon his lust took over and he reverted back to his previous ways. Augustine continued to teach,
but his heart and soul felt empty.

Humor And Its Relationship With Positive Life Outcomes
Humor has been said to play a large role in our everyday lives, including having an impact on
ones well being; mainly influencing their level of self esteem. Humor is often seen as a coping
mechanism for dealing with stressful events throughout a person s lifetime (Stieger, Formann,
Burger, 2011). For some time there has been the circulating idea that humor is directly related to
positive life outcomes, but has been supported with very limited empirical evidence (Vaughan,
Zeigler Hill, Arnau, 2014). This view is often encrypted in the minds of general society because of
the constant use of jokes and sayings that acknowledge the use of humor as a way to deal with life
s current circumstances; using humor as a means to cope (Leist MГјller, 2013). The problem with
this view is that it does not consider that there are multiple styles of humor that can affect its
relationship with positive life outcomes (Vaughan et al., 2014). Contemporary research suggests
that sense of humor is a multidimensional personality construct consisting of both [two] adaptive
and [two] maladaptive styles (Kirsh, 2005). Based on this prior research there are four distinct
styles of humor which are defined as being a person s habitual conduct or use of humor in daily
life, that is his or her typical stable pattern of humor behaviours and attitudes (Beermann, 2014).
The two adaptive styles are: (1) self enhancing humor, which is the use of personal humor to make
oneself laugh and uplift your

The Impact of Rock n Roll on the Civil Rights Movement

white Americans would target anything bad about it. But as the teenager demographic of the

the style of Elvis Presley and his new voice that made girls weak in the knees and boys want to be

A Visit to the Saturn V Rocket

Football Hooliganism
Football Hooliganism Overview The destructive and unruly behavior of extraordinarily zealous
football fans is referred to as football hooliganism. The participants of football hooliganism who
support their respective football clubs demonstrate all kinds of violent behaviors including
scuffling, sabotage and intimidation (Another sorry outbreak of the England disease, 2004). This
behavior is most often based on the rivalry that exists between different football clubs or teams
and can give rise to great conflicts once the matches have ended and sometimes even before that.
Sometimes when these conflicts arise during the match at the stadium, the people who practice
hooliganism are arrested by the police, meanwhile most of the times the supporters of the rival
teams choose to confront each other at places that are far away from the stadiums so as to get
away from the police arrests. Some immensely violent acts of hooliganism have been seen by the
witnesses by these supporters of football. The conflicts that exist between these people can be as
small as fistfights and sometimes so intense that these people make use of the deadly weapons
against each other. The use of glass bottles, sports bats, pistols, knives, rocks and machetes has also
been seen in football hooliganism. There have been cases in the past when hooliganism and
conflicts inside the stadium during an ongoing football match resulted in panic and injuries were
inflicted on the fans that were there. When these

decaying meat that he covered this time around with a net. There still wasn t a sign of maggots

believed that nonliving matter identify by Leeuwenhoek s animalcules were enough to generate
small organisms. In 1745, an Englishman name John Needham discovered that the existence of
microorganisms were real when he boiled chicken broth and corn broth and then pour them both
into flasks for them to cool off. The results showed that the broths both contain microorganisms that
were developed by the microbes. An Italian scientist Lazzaro Spallanzani suggested 20 years after

Reflection On Clinical Surgery
On October 16th, 2017, I was able to observe a surgery during my clinical session. Surgery is
defined as the art and science of treating diseases, injuries and deformities by operation and
instrumentation. (Lewis, 2017) The reason for surgery can include: diagnosis, or determining the
presence and extent of a pathologic condition, cure, or eliminating and/or repairing of a pathologic
condition, palliation, or alleviation of symptoms that does not cure, prevention, or removing
something from the body before it becomes cancer, and exploration, surgical examination to
determine the nature or extent of a disease. (Lewis, 2017) My observation day started in the
preoperative unit of the hospitalwhere I met with the pre op nurse. During this time I was able to
introduce myself to the patient and had her consent to allow me observe her surgery. My patient was
a 39Y female who was to undergo a robotic assist hysterectomy. Her past medical history includes
constant, abnormal vaginal bleeding, polyps and severe cramping. These are the factors that
contributed to her having the hysterectomy. My patient also noted that this is the last resort in her
treatment for her symptoms. In this case, my patient was undergoing palliative surgery, or having
surgery to alleviate symptoms without curing a specific disease. Her past medical history also
includes gastroesophageal reflux disease, bilateral chondromalacia patella joint pain, and depressive

Comparing The And Hetero Junctions
3.1 Homo and Hetero junctions
When the semiconductor materials are homogeneous throughout the entire structure is called a
semiconductor homojunction. Materials used to form a homojunction will have similar energy
bandgaps, On the other hand, when two different semiconductor materials are used to form a
junction, the junction is called a semiconducror heterojunction. The hetero junction is formed
with narrow bandgap material with wide bandgap material. Figure 1 shows three possible
combinations. When the forbidden band gap of wide bandgap material completely overlaps the
bandgap of narrow bandgap materials then it is called straddling which is applicable for most of
the heterojunctions. In staggered, a fraction of wide bandgap and narrow band gap are merged tog
ether. In case of broken gap there is a bandgap itself between energy bandgaps of different
semiconductor. Fig.1. different types of heterojunction (a) straddling (b)staggered (c) broken gap
Metal semiconductor junction is an example of heterojunction. This junction can be created by
depositing a metal such as Al or Gold or Ag over a semiconductor (ptype/n type) wafer by different
deposition techniques (e beam/thermal evaporation or sputtering/CVD). Depending on the work
function of the metal, this type of junction may behave as ohmic or schottky contacts. as the name
suggests if the contact is ohmic, the current voltage relationship is linear as per Ohm s law. For
ohmic contact it is mandatory that the

Jackson Pollock Summary Expressionism
Jackson Pollock was an influential American painter, and the main pressure in the back of the
abstract expressionist movement within the artwork global. Throughout his lifetime, Pollock
enjoyed massive repute and notoriety. Jackson Pollock s greatness lies in developing one of the
most radical summary patterns inside the records of contemporary artwork, detaching line from
colour, redefining the kinds of drawing and painting, and locating new method to explain pictorial
space. Jackson Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming in 1912. His father, LeRoy Pollock became a
farmer and later a land surveyor for the authorities. Jackson Pollock grew up in Arizona and Chico,

In August 1949, existence mag ran a characteristic tale posing the query: Jackson Pollock: Is he
the greatest residing painter in the america? The text turned into alternately mocking and
respectful. In 1951, at the peak of the artist s career, trend magazine published fashion images by
means of Cecil Beaton of fashions posing in front of Pollock s drip paintings. Even though this
industrial popularity signaled public popularity and became symptomatic of mass tradition s
inevitable expropriation of the avant garde Pollock continuously puzzled the course and
reception of his artwork. At the height of his reputation, Pollock all at once abandoned the drip
style. Pollock s work after 1951 became darker in color, inclusive of a set painted in black on
unprimed canvases. These artwork had been referred to as his Black pourings and whilst he
exhibited them on the Betty Parsons Gallery in the big apple, none of them sold. However later

The Model Of Emergent Leadership
Tuvia Bielski:
The Model of Emergent Leadership in Edward Zwick s Defiance Have you ever been in a
situation where you had to take charge, and take on leadership roles in a short period of time ?
Some people may say that not everyone can be a leader. Some also believe that leaders are born
with the necessary qualities, which make them successful as a leader. Others believe that leadership,
like many other character traits, can be learned and developed through life. The debate depends
on how you define leadership. A leader can be made in certain situations of survival. It can range
from promoting what is right to perform social changes, or just to execute their own ideas. When
you are a leader you gain a certain sense of independence, and pride that you started something.
Therefore, when it s finished you get to show people that you were able to accomplish all of this.
Watching the movie Defiance by Edward Zwick, I came across the character Tuvia Bielski. The
movie unfolded a leader in front of our eyes. Tuvia became the leader of the partisan group. His
characteristics that he possessed before he took his position, groomed him into the leader he was
then. Tuvia Bielski became a leader because of the circumstances he found himself in.
Defining Leadership
Leadership means the period during which a person occupies the position of leader. A leader is
someone who brings a group of people together, and directs them toward a common goal. Someone

Within those 13 summers, six of them I spent attending Japanese public school. Going to a
school in Japan was very tough. I would have regular classes, get homework and speak Japanese
the entire time. Though it was tough, it was a lot of fun. I made so many friends, I ate great food,
and best of all I was speaking only Japanese the entire time. Overall it was such a great experience
being able to go to two different schools in two completely different countries.
Tell us about a time when you were excited about learning. What were you learning about? What
made it so engaging?*
One time I was very excited about learning was a project that I did in math class called After
Collage. In this project I were given a scenario where I just finished college, and I had to find a
job a house, etc. After, we made a budget on all of the expenses that we thought we would pay.
Things such as electricity bills, food, laundry etc. Though this project was fiction it made me
realize what the real world was like, and I could not just spend all of my money on things that I
liked.

The Link Between Our Minds And Our Environment
Our senses are the link between our minds and our environment; we rely on them for our tactical,
olfactory, visual, auditory and gustatory acquisition of knowledge. Our dependence on our senses
for knowledge makes our need to critically evaluate the information they deliver higher. The only
way a knower can achieve a state of perceptive, yet thoughtful, acquisition of knowledge is by
maintaining a balance between trusting our senses and assessing their congruence with pre existing
knowledge. The sole purpose of a knower it to contribute to society in a positive manner. One must
make an impact on the community with the knowledge they have acquired. The president of a
nation who creates decisions contributes to society and even forming and sharing opinions in class
can positively impact a community. The knowledge of a knower determines the overall content and
effect of the contribution made, whether it is positive or negative. The primary sources of
information are sigh, touch, smell, taste, and hearing. These are the five senses, which are the
gateway of accessing knowledge from his experiences and the environment. In order to determine
the truth of the senses, a knower has to first compare his sensory perceptions to his pre existing
knowledge and determine whether the information is congruent. However this process occurs
without the knower realizing it. A knower does not question every sight, smell, sound, touch and
taste, but rather accepts them in the context of his

War Memorial History
From the outset parish war memorial committees sent out requests to members of the public to
nominate names for inclusion on the memorials. They received these in writing from the next of
kin, from descendants and, in some cases, from an informed member of the public (either
privately or on behalf of an organisation). They accepted evidence through word of mouth, from
newspaper articles, church announcements and through door to door enquiries. Some committees
decided that only those born in a town or village would be commemorated; some opted for birth
and/or residence at time of death, whilst others allowed the names of anyone who had lived in the
village at any time. Some, as in the case of Misterton, saw the addition of a female whose nursing...

There were those who described it as evidence of a deplorable lack of interest by the general
public in this worthy object. When it was put on the agenda for the Parish Council to discuss,
the meeting had to be cancelled owing to the schoolroom having no heat and the likelihood of
there being no gas. For a time it looked as though there would be no resolution. Many felt this
would leave Epworth as a town without a site and cause considerable embarrassment, particularly
as places such as Belton, Finningley and Haxey were well advanced with their plans for a
memorial. Mr. Arthur Maw said that when he had spoken to people about a memorial, many
believed that, since the Parish Church and the Nonconformist Churches were erecting memorial
tablets in their respective places of worship, they felt there was no need for a public memorial.
When the decision to continue was taken there were issues over what style the memorial would
take. For those who favoured a stone monument their difficulty lay in finding a suitable site. Both
the Market Place and the frontage of Barnes and Breeze shop were considered but discounted. The
idea of buying the Imperial Hall and turning into a recreation and meeting place for the town was
rejected. Upgrading the town s water supply came up for consideration but was quickly dismissed.

After reading the sample request for proposal, it has been determined that the proposal does not
meet the government s standard form for solicitation. A typical form is much lengthier than the
provided sample; however the information provided is very straight to the point. It does specify
the services they would like to have performed and does ask the bidder to provide further
information in their response. The official form would list other information like the deadline for

The person conducting the review or decision should not be related in any way to the procurement
in question, they should be a neutral party. When a contractor files a protest it needs to be
logical and to the point, it should also contain the protestor s name, address and contact
information and needs to specify that this is a protest. When filing a protest at the agency level
there are two different deadlines. You can either file before the closing of the bid or after. In this
case if the larger company file after the bid is closed they have 10 days to do so after the basis
for the protest is known. If the protest is received before the award, no award with be issued
until the protest is resolved. If the larger company decides to file their protest at the GAO level,
the same rules apply. They need to have a clear and concise format and it must be in writing.
When filing at the GAO level the protest needs to be detailed, factual and legal grounds for the
complaint. There needs to be proof of prejudice as the basis. The contractor will also need to
provide the agency with a full copy of their protest or complaint. At the GAO level there are
three different deadlines, but they all need to be filed no later than 10 days after the protestor
learns of the offensive action. The last way to file a protest is through the U.S. Court of Federal
Claims. In this scenario there is a judge that will preside over the matter and act as

  • 2. Orange Shading Filters Color correction is one of the most used things in photography and new technology is allowing for artists to take inspiring photos that can truly make a difference. A picture s natural beauty can be everything but when something is missing in a photo, adding a filter can change the perspective of the picture to the way the photographer sees it. One of the most used type of colorcorrection is black and white. Black and white pictures often show emotions like sadness or happiness, this is because the color reminds people of older photos.Out of all of the other correction tools that are used to change photos, this filter is the most dramatic. Another common filter that is used by photographers is orange shading filters. This is a famous because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Impact Of Media Industry On The World Essay Media industry companies throughout the world has changed significantly during the last decade. Just as once film industry has been threatened by and had to adjust to the introduction of DVDs instead of VHS tapes, nowadays, a similar pattern can be identified with introduction of digital platforms. Various media companies, including film and music production, distribution, television, publishing, etc. have to not only adapt their services to this emerging development, but also find new ways to keep up with direct and indirect competitors. The former ones include large over the top services such as Netflix and Spotify, which have been a sort of pioneers in the field of digital platform distribution and which are acquiring more and more power by day; the latter ones are self production release platforms, most evident with Youtube replacing television and blogs replacing printed magazines and newspapers. Canadian based media companies today are struggling to keep up with the ongoing movement. This can be clearly seen from current closures, merges that are the result of digital predominance of big american companies. Throughout the course of the semester, both individually and in groups, we looked over various distribution paths and explored the existing patterns both in class and through our assignments. In this carry forward advice paper, I would like to look at some of the most prominent and noticeable changes in the industry, especially in Canadian premises and draw some ... • 4. Differences Between Ming And Qing The early modern dynasties of China known as the Ming and Qing gained their political identity from traditional Chinese cultures. After a long time of oppression from traditional Chinese ways caused by the Mongols ruling over China there was an immediate reverse to Chinese tradition once they lost their power. At the end of the Mongol reign the Ming dynasty came into power hoping to restore the empire s traditions. It created a more centralized government to have better power over the empire and worked to build and/or restore the Great Wall. They also moved the capital to the more northern city of Beijing in order to control the Mongol invaders. They set in place examinations as well to ensure the most knowledgeable scholars received civil service positions. Chinaalso lived in the patriarchal society of their ancestors. Foot binding became a popular practice as well as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These Mongols though developed their government based on the culture of the Chinese. The emperors were often even Confucian scholars and very artistically inclined but strong militarily as well. They conquered a large amount of the states around China and drastically gained power. They used the same exams for civil service positions that the Ming dynasty and tradition Chinese culture promoted, even taking it to the next level to form schools specifically for the exams. This deep belief in the Confucian values is strong evidence of how the Qing dynasty used confucian and traditional Chinese culture together to build a strong centralized and intelligent government. The Ming and Qing dynasties China restored to its traditional socially, patriarchally, politically, and even infrastructurally looking at the Great Wall. The culture of art and education became once again powerful and traditions of Confucianism were once again largely influential and the sculpting tool of the Ming and Qing ... • 5. Lack Of Prime Ministerial Power In Canada A topic of much debate in many political systems is how much power the head of state, or in some cases such as in constitutional monarchies, the head of government holds. If the leader holds too much power, the political process becomes undemocratic. Conversely if the leader has too little power, government becomes inefficient, sometimes crippling the government completely for their terms in office. In Canada, this can be seen in the effectiveness of a majority or minority government, and the abilities of the Prime Minister in each case. In the latter case, many believe that lack of prime ministerial power is attributed to the trend of ineffective minority governments because of the ability for motions of non confidence to be passed, forcing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is due to the nature of the inability to pass legislation without compromise between all parties forming the current government. Although compromise is at the center of responsible government, the inability to produce effective legislation and to govern efficiently because of the need of compromise between varying political parties also limits the ability of governments to provide their obligations to the citizens who placed them in power. These periods of governance tend to revolve around a constant power struggle over a single issue, rather than focusing on the larger affairs at hand. Again, examples in which these compromises, or rather lack of ability to make these compromises, can be seen throughout Canadian history. One such example of this was Prime Minister Joe Clark s minority Conservative government of 1979. In an attempt to ensure prosperity, Clark attempted to run the government as if it was a majority, and deliver on the platform on which he had run his election campaign. This was achieved by attempting to follow in the footsteps of the last Conservative Prime Minister, John Diefenbaker. Because of this, Clark was unable to deliver his own political agenda as ... Within his emotional memory, he would gradually accept his condition. He was still surprisingly able to recall some of his procedural memory. This patient had a reduction of blood to the brain, which was caused by a heart bypass surgery. His lacerations were restricted to the hippocampus. • 7. A Comparison Of Mein Kampf And White Man s Burden Throughout both Adolf Hitler s political manifesto Mein Kampf and Rudyard Kipling s political poem, White Man s Burden, they both have a few similarities and differences. In addition, these similarities and differences might occur because of the context these individuals are writing. Mein Kampf was completed in 1925 when he was awaiting in a jail cell. During this time, World War I had just ended and the rise the fascism (an ideology that exalts the nation above the individual and calls for a centralized government with a dictatorial leader, economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition) was coming forth in Italy s government. And at the same time, the government in Germany was crumbling, and even before the German economy was a disaster. This was created to help influence the Nazi Party and the intended audience being the Aryan race. Throughout his manifesto he discusses his childhood and how he was most certainly born to be a leader and a great leader at that. In the scheme of things, he portrays the fast that Aryans are the good and trusted people and Jews cannot on the other hand be trusted at all. And on the harsher side says that Jews should fall off the face of the earth. • 10. Descriptive Essay About A House Arkansas, Only about a hour, maybe two hours long drive away from home. Over the course of the day we meet new and different people, eat good food, and give gifts. Everyone is overly affectionate and helps out in the kitchen. Squeezing around twenty people in the tiny house is a tight smoosh, even if our family is almost half of that group. The house itself may not be that tiny but we re all gathered in just the kitchen and living room, making it seem like a smaller space. At times, a few people stroll out the glass door, onto the patio and into the back yard, yet even then it feels just a tad crowded, especially since we were around people we d never met. From long road trips to the ice cream punch to eating way too many rice krispie treats in one sitting, every part of that day went smoothly, giving off a joyful, pleasant vibe. Joyful is a great feeling to have around Christmas time. The best part? It was all captured in one sweet picture. Starting with my father, smiling into the camera with his fork mid bite, his long sleeve shirt is beige like the walls of a new house. A Hoyt hat sits on his bald head, the camera giving his face a shiny glowing appearance. Next to him sits Mari, his girlfriend. She s the best friend of Maleeah, the host of this party and the person cooking everything we re enjoying. • 12. Comparing Cronus And The Lightning Thief The Story of Cronus and The Lightning Thief The Story of Cronus is an interesting myth where Cronus eats his children in fear that they would one day take his throne and overpower him. Rhea, his wife, hid their last child, a god named Zeus in a cave in the heart of Mount Ida. He throve rapidly and soon developed great physical powers along with wisdom and intelligence. With the help of Metis, Zeus succeeded in forcing his father to disgorge his siblings. This caused a war in which Zeus had won with the help of the giants. This myth has the theme the struggle for power since Cronus is afraid of his children overpowering him. The novel The Lightning Thief, has the same theme as well since Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon fight with each other. The Story of Cronus communicates with the theme the struggle for power since Cronus ate his children so that they wouldn t take his throne. The practice of asylum is even looked on with a tolerant eye and the personnel of a foreign legation are not very glad to use this right. To the diplomatic agent concerned the practice is nothing but a burden. But the practice is defended on humanitarian grounds. By 2000, Studies were showing major associations between physical punishment and mental health, physical injury, parent child relationships and family violence in adulthood. This led many countries to take action against violent punishments. Therefore, countries banned domestic violence after they decided that gentle discipline is the best method to raise a kid. On the other hand, many parents are reluctant to leave their physical ways of discipline. These techniques come from cultural, and religious beliefs that have been rooted in the parents. The parents continue to use violence as a way to discipline their kids, claiming that it is more efficient than gentle and soft methods of discipline. To determine the weight of each side s argument, This issue must be passed through the laws of ethics and morality. Frost advises his readers to be actively engaged in questioning the world we inhabit (49, Dickstein). In most of Frost s work, readers and critics enjoy his choices of theme, likely being the outdoors and his surroundings. By using emotions recollected in tranquility and his organic and inviolable relationship with his countryside, he celebrates New Englands natural beauty throughout his literature using simple and accessible idioms. Edward Garnett once predicted that Frost was destined to take a permanent place in American Literature which he unquestionably has (40 49). James S. Like previously mentioned, Frost s themes were often what caught the attention of many. As Morris Dickstein explained in Critical Insights Robert Frost, the core themes were established early on and have remained constant focal points up to the present, though revised and elaborated upon over time (40). When looking at overpopulation and the effects on the environment, we look at the overpopulationin cities and countries across the nation. Many economic problems in our society place an impact on our environment from overpopulation come from the overuse of resources, lack of resources, and pollution. There are many solutions to this problem but the common factor is humans have to put controls in place and take care of the environment, so the required resources do not become extinct. Human population growth is a major contributor to global warming, given that more people means more resources. When reading an article on population growth on climate change (Scientific American, 2017), it reports that many population experts believe the answer lies in improving the health of women and children in developing nations. By reducing poverty and infant mortality, increasing women s and girls access to basic human rights (health care, education, economic opportunity), educating women about birth control options and ensuring access to voluntary family planning services, women will choose to limit family size (Scientific American, 2017). • 29. Selective Breeding Vs. Natural Selection Selective breeding has been used for many years to achieve the expression of desired traits in animals and plants. Similar to natural selection, humans have developed artificial selection where humans select the most desirable traits instead of the environment, this is what s known as selective breeding. But in fact selective breeding does not select for the fittest phenotype like in natural selectionit actually selects for the most desirable phenotypes which may cause harm to the individual. Natural selection selects against harmful alleles as they are disadvantageous to the individual and possibly restricts its ability to survive till the age of sexual reproduction thus not being able to pass on this harmful gene, whereas selective breeding selects for harmful alleles if seen desirable. Selective breeding involves breeding organisms based on their phenotypes so that the desired traits are passed onto successive generations, these desired alleles then increase (in frequency) in the gene pool. This has a large commercial benefit as animal and crop products now contain higher quality meat, quantity of milk, quality of wool, larger fruits etc. The goal of selective breeding in animals is to either produce a pure breed (a breed that will consistently produce offspring with the desired traits or to simply improve the quality of the desired trait/phenotype (homozygous). This is achieved by inbreeding (where two closely related individuals mate and produce offspring) In selective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our anti hero is Deckard, a bureaucratic detective confronting the world in monochrome, impassive as he methodically retires replicants. Riddley Scott s euphemism sparks immediate discomfort, estranging us as we witness the progressive humanisation of replicants throughout the film, in Rachel s tears and Roy Batty s breakdown beside the lifeless Pris. Machines become more deserving of our empathy, whereas Deckard, a seemingly flat character is simply there to do his job. Blade Runner s Voight Kampff test is the quintessential exploration of Roberts diversity and difference [or lack of], assisting in the testing of individuals to discover potential artificiality. However, Scott s mise en scene establishes the apparatus as solely measuring bodily functions such as heart rate and eye movement in response to emotionally provocative questions. Thus, by measuring the physical to scrutinise the human, Scott suggests replicants, though imitations of humans are virtually indiscernible in regard to emotive response. Furthermore, emotive response being product of the human condition, opens up new possibilities of technological adoption of human individuality. Scott s Rachel, and Roy Batty have become Tyrell s vision more human than human and arguably more so than our traditional hero. • 33. Humor And Its Relationship With Positive Life Outcomes Humor has been said to play a large role in our everyday lives, including having an impact on ones well being; mainly influencing their level of self esteem. Humor is often seen as a coping mechanism for dealing with stressful events throughout a person s lifetime (Stieger, Formann, Burger, 2011). For some time there has been the circulating idea that humor is directly related to positive life outcomes, but has been supported with very limited empirical evidence (Vaughan, Zeigler Hill, Arnau, 2014). This view is often encrypted in the minds of general society because of the constant use of jokes and sayings that acknowledge the use of humor as a way to deal with life s current circumstances; using humor as a means to cope (Leist MГјller, 2013). The problem with this view is that it does not consider that there are multiple styles of humor that can affect its relationship with positive life outcomes (Vaughan et al., 2014). Contemporary research suggests that sense of humor is a multidimensional personality construct consisting of both [two] adaptive and [two] maladaptive styles (Kirsh, 2005). Based on this prior research there are four distinct styles of humor which are defined as being a person s habitual conduct or use of humor in daily life, that is his or her typical stable pattern of humor behaviours and attitudes (Beermann, 2014). On the other hand, the motivation behind volunteer activity will benefit for those students who need help improve their mandarin knowledge. I How was this activity chosen? When I picked the volunteer project, I have been the volunteer in my son s school for several years. The entire sixth grade of South Mckeel Academy slept underneath the Saturn V rocket. Not an experience to forget. Previously, the middle schoolers had taken a brief tour of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which houses the space shuttle Atlantis. They would actually get to visit the shops and kiosks on Friday, the day after. Onto the subject of the rocket itself. Mostly yellow, the Saturn V rocket is the only functional rocket still fully intact. This is because it has never been out of Earth s orbit, much less in space. The length? The equivalent of 9 KSC (Kennedy Space Center) tour buses. In other words and measurements , 363 feet. Underneath the rocket, among the sleeping 6th graders, was a cold temperature. By the displays of astronauts suits, lunar rovers, lunar landers, samples of the moon s surface, etc. the coldness was not as evident, in fact by the exhibits one might go so far as to say warm. The area where the base of the rocket was built was visible, painted a light shade of green, towards the tip of the rocket. Boys were to sleep in stage one, near the base of the rocket, while girls occupied stages two and three closer to the tip of the rocket. Around 9:30 the ravenous juveniles were given a snack of sun chips and water bottles, the latter of which they were welcome to at any time of the night. The staff members of the ... During reading partners the student is working on retelling mainly the gist of the stories along with learning to sequence and this is then portrayed within her writing. The participants of football hooliganism who support their respective football clubs demonstrate all kinds of violent behaviors including scuffling, sabotage and intimidation (Another sorry outbreak of the England disease, 2004). This behavior is most often based on the rivalry that exists between different football clubs or teams and can give rise to great conflicts once the matches have ended and sometimes even before that. Sometimes when these conflicts arise during the match at the stadium, the people who practice hooliganism are arrested by the police, meanwhile most of the times the supporters of the rival teams choose to confront each other at places that are far away from the stadiums so as to get away from the police arrests. Some immensely violent acts of hooliganism have been seen by the witnesses by these supporters of football. The conflicts that exist between these people can be as small as fistfights and sometimes so intense that these people make use of the deadly weapons against each other. The use of glass bottles, sports bats, pistols, knives, rocks and machetes has also been seen in football hooliganism. There have been cases in the past when hooliganism and conflicts inside the stadium during an ongoing football match resulted in panic and injuries were inflicted on the fans that were there. Materials used to form a homojunction will have similar energy bandgaps, On the other hand, when two different semiconductor materials are used to form a junction, the junction is called a semiconducror heterojunction. The hetero junction is formed with narrow bandgap material with wide bandgap material. Figure 1 shows three possible combinations. When the forbidden band gap of wide bandgap material completely overlaps the bandgap of narrow bandgap materials then it is called straddling which is applicable for most of the heterojunctions. When you are a leader you gain a certain sense of independence, and pride that you started something. The Link Between Our Minds And Our Environment Our senses are the link between our minds and our environment; we rely on them for our tactical, olfactory, visual, auditory and gustatory acquisition of knowledge. Our dependence on our senses for knowledge makes our need to critically evaluate the information they deliver higher. The only way a knower can achieve a state of perceptive, yet thoughtful, acquisition of knowledge is by maintaining a balance between trusting our senses and assessing their congruence with pre existing knowledge. The sole purpose of a knower it to contribute to society in a positive manner. One must make an impact on the community with the knowledge they have acquired. The president of a nation who creates decisions contributes to society and even forming and sharing opinions in class can positively impact a community.
