Water Management Case Study
Using named examples, assess the contribution of large scale water management projects in
increasing water security. 15 Water security means having access to sufficient, safe, clean and
affordable water. Theoretically, the world s poorer countries are the most water insecure, suffering
from both physical and economic water scarcity. One solution to tackle water insecurity is through
large scale water projects for example the Three Gorges project in China, the South North transfer
project also in China and the restoration of the Aral Sea. However there is much controversy over
whether these schemes are actually sustainable and therefore beneficial in the long run. The Three
Gorges da project in China blocks the Yangtze River; it cost $50... Show more content on

This money is being used to build a second dam, after the successful $68 million dam that split
the sea into two and already filling the northern sea up. Although this has seen fishermen s
business improve along with returning rain, the problem on the Uzbekistan border is yet to be
solved with the southern sea still shrinking. The economy of Uzbekistan is struggling to fix this
problem as their economy heavily depends of cash crops which are not being produced due to the
lack of water and irrigation of cotton fields. An additional problem for Uzbekistan is that their
headwaters are controlled by other countries. This problem is exacerbated by the part of the world
they re in and any change could easily trigger conflict from neighbouring countries. To conclude,
although large water management schemes due in some cases increase water security for the
intended target destination, there are many other factors which need to be considered deeply to
evaluate whether the economic costs as well as the environmental and social costs are worth
sacrificing for what the project will

Miranda Rights Research Paper
The Miranda rights that police are required to give persons they are about to arrest did not
become law until March 2, 1966. It started when an eighteen year old women told the police she
was abduct, taken to the desert and rape. The police arrested and questioned Ernesto Miranda. In
1966, the case of Miranda vs .Arizona went to the Supreme Court of the United States. The court
ruled that policemust advise you of your rights when they make an arrest. The Court said that
when a person is arrested he/she must be told what their rights are: the right to remain silent, that
anything you say can be used against you in a court of law and that you have right to an attorney.
The court also said that if you cannot afford attorney, one will be appoint to you at the expense of

Essay Before Breakfast by Eugene O Neill
Before Breakfast
Before Breakfast is a short gloomy play by Eugene O Neill. Eugene O Neill was born in 1888 in
New York City. He is the only American dramatist to ever win the Nobel Prize for literature.
Before Breakfast is set in the Greenwich Village section of New York City, in a small one room
flat on Christopher Street. The flat consists of a kitchen and dinning area. There are only two
characters in this drama. Mrs. Roland who is the only speaking character and her husband Alfred.
Alfred s hand is seen once in the play, but not much else. This is symbolic of an absentee husband
or a non existent marriage. Although, Alfred is not seen, he contributes a great deal to the conflict.
With only Mrs. Rowland on stage, O Neill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The child, the reason the couple married, born dead. Alfred unable to sell his writings, is
depressed. His depression contributes to a self destructive lifestyle, dragging his wife along with
him. It was inevitable the marriage would fail.
Mrs. Rowland, the protagonist, is portrayed as the stereotypical nagging wife. While a flat
character, she is very realistic. Her level of diction implies her lack of education, she is also
bitter towards her husband. Her bitterness is not unfounded. Alfred is of no help, Heaven knows
I do my part and more going out sewing every day while you play the gentleman and loaf around
bar rooms with that good for nothing lot of artists from the Square (Jacobs 1211). Mrs. Rowland
s husband is adulterous and can not hold down a job. Mrs. Rowland loves her husband, although
she does not like the way he treats her. She exhibited love by continually enabling him, paying the
rent, providing food, and cleaning up after him. She regards Alfred s depression as laziness. Not
that I ve got any doubts about your being lazy enough to stay in bed forever (Jacobs 1211). After
learning Alfred s lover Helen, is pregnant, her frustration and disappointments only intensify.
Alfred the antagonist is a flat character, but also very realistic. He is the stereotypical insensitive,
substandard husband. Mrs. Rowland thought that Alfred loved her when he didn t let his father buy
her off. Alfred was suppose to be

Freedom of the Press Versus Right to Privacy
Freedom of the press versus right to privacy
ByRobert Skidelsky (China Daily)
Privacy has become a big issue in contemporary jurisprudence. The right to privacy is enshrined in
the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, and guaranteed by Article 8 of the European
Convention on Human Rights. But Article 8 is balanced by Article 10, which guarantees free
expression of opinion . So what right has priority when they conflict?
Under what circumstances, for example, is it right to curtail press freedom in order to protect the
right to privacy, or vice versa? The same balance is being sought between the right of citizens to
data privacy and government demands for access to personal information to fight crime, terrorism,
and so on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A law that curtails the abuse of press power while protecting its freedom to expose the abuse of
political power would be difficult, but not impossible, to frame. The essential principle is that the
media should not be allowed to pander to the public s prurience under cover of protecting the public
interest.
What famous people indeed ordinary people, too do in private should be off limits to the media
unless they give permission for those activities to be reported, photographed, or filmed. The only
exceptions would be if a newspaper has reasonable grounds for believing that the individuals
concerned are breaking the law, or that, even if they are not breaking the law, they are behaving in
such a way as to render them unfit to perform the duties expected of them.
Thus, a pop star s consumption of illegal drugs may be reported, but not his or her sexual habits
(if they are legal). The private life of a politician may be revealed if it is expected to have
consequences for the way the country is being governed; that of a top executive of a public
company if it may affect the returns to shareholders.
This should be the only public interest defense available to a media outlet that is sued for invasion
of privacy. The media might become a bit drearier, but public life would be far healthier.

Skeletal, Smooth, and Cardiac. The three kinds of muscles are different in some ways and they
do have things in common. Almost 650 of the 700 muscles in the human body are skeletal
muscles. Skeletal muscles are also known as voluntary muscles because we can voluntarily
control their movements. An example, humans choose to use skeletal muscles when they flex
their arm muscles or run laps around a track. Your Skeletal muscles are arranged in the body so
that they are held in a slight stretch over the joint. If your leg muscles for instance, were entirely
relaxed while you were standing up your legs would buckle and you would fall in a heap. Skeletal
muscles are often attached from one side of the bone over the joint to the end of another bone.
Skeletal muscles function in pairs or groups like a team. Usually, these muscles pairs or groups are
Antagonistic. This means that they work against one another while one or more muscles in the pair
or group contract, or get smaller and thicker, the other relax, or get bigger and thinner. Muscles can
pull bones, but they can t push them. Without other muscles in the pair or group to pull a bone back
would remain in the same position forever. Smooth muscles power movement that we don t control
this is why the smooth muscles are called involuntary muscles. The body s nervous system
automatically controls the smooth muscles. Functions powered by these muscles involve breathing,
digestion

Conformity And Rebellion In The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
In her short story, The Lottery, Shirley Jackson uses conformity and rebellion to convey the main
theme, which is that blindly following tradition can have negative consequences. The village
members show this through their actions while carrying out this lottery that they have done for
generations. One character, Tessie, is the outlier who is a rebellion compared to the other
villagers. Her character s actions contrast the other villagers, and make what they are doing seem
much more irrational. It also shows how the majority refuses to hear what one who deviates from
the norm has to say. This allows them to remain in a bubble and continue to live out the same
customs year after year.
The villagers conform to these traditions for the sole reason that it s been done for so many years
before them. Long enough that they do not even remember certain aspects of it, like the tuneless
chant and the ritual salute . Characters like Old Man Warner are symbolic of the older
generation that clings without question to practices that may not continue to be beneficial for
the community. The black box from which the slips of paper are drawn represents the villagers
inability to change. The box is very old and in bad shape, but when it is suggested that the people
make a new box, the subject is allowed to fade off without anything s being done. Further
emphasizing the long history of both the box and the ritual, the narrator notes: There was a story
that the present box had been made with some pieces of the box that had preceded it, the one that
had been constructed when the first people settled down to make a village here. Old Man Warner,
the oldest man in the village, also represents the theme of tradition. When Mr. and Mrs. Adams
suggest to Warner that some other villages have already given up the lotteryor are thinking about
doing so, he replies with, Next thing you know, they ll be wanting to go back to living in caves .
There s always been a lottery. So the other villages who are straying from tradition are dismissed
right away and are seen as barbaric for not following the rules.
The children are so conditioned to the normalcy of the tradition, that they are able to continue their
games

Child Labor During A Nike Factory
CHILD LABOR IN A NIKE FACTORY IN PAKISTAN Abstract This paper especially focuses on
the problem of Child Labor in Pakistan with respect to the case of the world renowned sports brand
Nike and its use of children in its factories in Pakistan. A set of laws that can be established to
eradicate this evil from Pakistan have been elaborated upon in the paper, these proposals include the
Trafficking Victim Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA), the International Human Right Treaty
by the General Assembly, International Criminal Court (ICC), penalty laws for businesses
practicing child labor, system to inspect workplaces for child labor and holding employers
responsible for the education of the employed children. The recommendations section of the paper
deals with methods beside laws that can aid in the eradication of child labor and includes negative
publicity, introducing a rating mechanism and dealing with competing (and ethically more sound)
organizations. Outline I. Introduction: A. Thesis statement: Because child labor is practiced in
Pakistan at a Nike factory, I propose the Trafficking Victim Protection Reauthorization Act

text and other readings and supplement it with additional research.
ALSO, as September 17th is Constitution Day, I want you to reflect on this and comment on it in
your forums for this week. The preamble of the US Constitution directs the Federal Government to
promote the general welfare .... secure the blessings of liberty . ..and protect ourselves and our
posterity . When thinking about our obligation to protect the environment (e.g., plants, animals,
habitat, ecosystem services), can a case be made that we are constitutionally bound to do so based
on the quotes I gave you? What do you think? If so, how does that play into our responsibility to
conserve and restore the environment? If not, why not?
For this week s forum, after searching for wetlands restoration, I found a local wetlands restoration
project that was completed in November 2011 and encompassed an area of 150 acres. The San
Dieguito Wetland Restoration Project included the coastal area of San Dieguito Lagoon and the
San Dieguito River Park estuarine and riverine wetland systems, respectively which serve an
important role in the local ecology. They provide a stop for birds along the Pacific Flyway, nesting
and foraging areas for endangered species and serve as a fish hatchery.

Theme Of Norwegian Wood
Norwegian Wood is a nostalgic novel imbued by death, suicide and sexuality. Murakami describes
a Japanese youth beset by doubts, embedded in the Spleen and surrounding by dreams. The
protagonist and narrator, Watanabe, is remembering his past as a university student, while in a
plane bound to Hamburg. All his memories appear because of the song during the landing,
Norwegian Wood by The Beatles. The song brings him back twenty years earlier, during the Sixties
in the middle of the Japanese studentrevolution.
After this preamble, we discover the high school life of Watanabe and the original context on
which the whole story rely. The trio composed by him, Kizuki, his best friend and Kizuki s

Watanabe and Naoko will make their lovestory impossible. The distance is unbounded between
the two characters in their platonic relation, and take a geographical dimension early in the
book. However Watanabe does not hesitate. If he is uncertain about everything in his life, he
want to live and is not absorbed by Naoko s death drives. Likewise he is not attracted by the
inhumanity of Nagasawa. Every characters of the book are allegoric of Japanese and widely
more generally human beeing. Here is the strength of Murakami s work, beyond a very Japanese
context firmly anchored in student turmoils of the Sixties in Tokyo, story and characters are
universal. Main subjects like suicide, responsibility, depression and aspiration to live fully resonate
in the reader s mind, and the very Japanese sensibility that emerges from the work is transcended by

Essay on pop culture
Introduction
Technological advancements the last decades have contributed to the creation of a globalized era,
with the English language as a common denominator, as the major language spoken between those
who do not share any language.
Globalization have made it possible for an extreme output of popular culture that has mainly origins
of English speaking countries with U.S.A. as the main exporter of popular culture through music,
movies, television etc. In this essay I explore the positive aspects that using popular music in the
classroom might potentially have. In my main issues I discuss the motivational aspects of popular
culture, why teachers might feel insecure or unwilling to use the student s personal interests of

They get enough of that at home :
Claims that pop culture does not belong in the classroom are outdated.
Teachers might feel a general unwillingness toward incorporating popular culture in the classroom
and there are often several issues that create this point of view. teachers might not understand the
contemporary popular culture of today s youth and therefore project negative thoughts on what is
popular, expressing ideas such as; children who are more interested in popular culture are not as
bright as those who prefer reading. Teachers might also regard pop culture as contra productive for
student s creativity and reason that they get enough of input in their spare time (Lambirth, 2003).
However, the teachers are not those who can fully take the blame for not wanting to incorporate
popular culture in the classroom. The teachers are caught between the two strong influences, of the
popular culture industry and those who create the educational policies (Lambirth, 2003) It might
therefore be unfair to lay blame on teachers for not wanting to take a gamble on their jobs and
career by using methods that does not follow their curriculum. Using popular culture in the subject
demands some knowledge of current technology and in using media properly in the classroom. The

Essay On Gerrymandering
When looking at a map of the United States, it can be seen that it is very cut and dry. The borders
of states are straight, cut at right angles, and distributes the land proportionally. The same cannot be
seen or said for Congressional districts. The intention is to evenly divide up the States even further
but instead, it is based on the state populations. It can also be apparent that the drawing of the
districts in recent years has been less than about population numbers, but as to who the population
votes for. Representation including district boundaries is known as the practice of gerrymandering.
So in the process of setting districts, gerrymandering is a practice attempting to establish a political
advantage for a particular group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until 1964 in the case of Reynolds vs Sims that found An individual s right to vote for
state legislators is unconstitutionally impaired when its weight is in a substantial fashion when
compared with votes of citizens living in other parts of the State (Reynolds v Sims), which
came as a result of discriminatory representation in the state of Alabama. This case however,
only outlines unlawful practice in a narrow fashion, not giving full width to the possible
practices. Districts can still be redrawn in ways that give one group a large advantage over their
competitors. It is described that Voters in seven states...have turned to such commissions in an
effort to reduce political gerrymandering, the map drawing method that leads to districts easily
won by Democrats or Republicans (Wolf). This is why we see districts drawn in such illogical
patterns that render the minority groups, most likely powerless. This can also allow the minority
group to unlikely win. Only when race seems to be the predominant factor in the apportionment,
do these redistribution schemes face any legal action, being at risk with the 14th Amendment. It is
very easily possible to give a win to a minority party because of these practices. In North Carolina,
where the two party House vote was fifty one percent Democratic, forty nine percent Republican,
the average simulated delegation was seven Democrats and

Sample Naturalistic Observation Papers
On Friday, February 10th, 2017 I did a naturalistic observation with the intent to observe gender
dynamics unfold in a specific setting. I attended a party on Friday night and observed for
approximately 2 hours. The setting was a lingerie party at Gaia s Cradle.
Gaia s Cradle is a living learning community at Northland, located next to the CSE building, in a

gender, women s, and sexuality studies. Gaia s regularly holds educational events, and always

The men at the party only drank beer, while playing beer pong. The beer was in bottles, cans, or in
the red solo cups from the game. The women at the party either took shots together, or brought

for safety reasons. College, especially college parties, can be a very dangerous place for women.
Rates of sexual assault are extremely high on college campuses. These women likely mixed and
brought their own drinks so they would know they aren t getting drugged. The men weren t
worried about being drugged by drinking open solo cups of beer that were setting out in public.
This is an example of male privilege. The men at the party didn t need to worry about being

men and the victims are

The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter by Carson McCuller
In Carson McCuller s novel, The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, the main theme is isolation and a
search for some connection to be normal. McCuller s traces the lives of five characters that center
their lives around one main character named John Singer, a deaf mute. These characters are
representative of all people and not just their specific characters in the novel. McCuller s is

He is somewhat of a motherly figure to him; always looking out for him, and then wanting to take
custody of Antonopoulos when he is sent to the mental hospital. Singer sends him a love letter and

come again. My vacation is not due for six months but I think I can arrange it before then. I think I
will have to. I am not meant to be alone and without you who understand. Singer is very lonely
without Antonopoulos, and his dream after he writes the letter describes Singer and Antonopoulos
naked on the street. This dream of two naked men is somewhat of a homosexual fantasy in itself.
The gifts he sent Antonopoulos are not very masculine either, such as the night clothes and the

The Art Of Travel By Alain De Botton s Picnic At...
Alternative landscapes allow freedom from repressive environments and this has an effect on the
psyche of individuals and demonstrates the complexity of human nature. Alain De Botton s The Art
of Travel reflects on the impact of different landscapes that lead to the ultimate search for happiness
while questioning the psychological effect of this pursuit. Peter Weir s Picnic at Hanging Rock is
based on the disappearance of three school girls in a mysterious manner, leaving the audience
questioning humanbehaviour in relation to the environment they are in. As the stories progress, self
discovery leads to the questioning of identities and values upheld, both by society and within
ourselves, that can ultimately determine our happiness,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is discussed that we as individuals must see the beauty around us and learn to appreciate it, not
fanaticise about what we do not have. Egypt lent support to ideas and values that were part of his
identity but for which his own society had little sympathy. This quote from Motives: On the
Exotic, suggests that different landscapes allow individuals to pursue their desires that may not be
accepted in their culture. Freedom from the pressures of society allow their real ideology and
identity to be seen in landscapes that support the views and values of this individual as seen by
Gustave Flaubert in Egypt.
Picnic at Hanging Rock explores external forces that impact on the actions of the young women
that contradict their upbringing and place in society. As they interact with the environment, they
lose the values of their school which opposes their class and social stigma. The environment is
represented as being wild and untamed, and as the sophisticated young women enter this
environment, they lose their innocence and an air of sexuality engulfs the young women. There
is a conflict in the portrayal of repressed and expressed sexuality behaviour as well as the
complete opposite, such as the headmistress who tends to deny any sort of sexual forces and the
young girls who seem to yearn to act on these desires. The

Ezra Pound: The Father of Modernism
Ezra Pound has been deemed one of Poetry s most important contributors. (Remembering Poets, 1).
T.S. Eliot and Donald Hall both believed Ezra Pound to be the biggest influence on poetry of his
time. (Poetry.org, 1). He was dedicated to his work, and from a young age, until his death in 1972,
he worked tirelessly, creating poetry that some deigned controversial, whether aesthetically or
politically. Those who did not find these controversial, the critics, the public, were too scared to
read his works. Pound however, never let any of this keep him from continuing to pursue his dreams
and do what he loved, writing poetry. Instead, he concentrated on advancing his art and maintaining
his standards with his aesthetics, while speaking out against these naysayers, showing them that he
was not intimidated by his adversaries.

The Ethical Theory Of Ethical Pluralism
With the numerous ethical theories available, it can become difficult and overwhelming to
decipher which one offers the best guidance. Some might seem to be too strict while others may
not offer enough of a path to follow. W.D. Ross came up with a path that provides a median
between some of the popular theories by introducing the concept of prima facia duties within the
idea of ethical pluralism, a form of ethicsin which there are at least two moral rules. Through
explanation of what the prima facia duties are, comparing how Ross s idea differs from Kantian
ethics and utilitarianism, and by exploring some of the benefits of adhering to Ross s idea, it
becomes evident that one should be in favor of his approach to ethics. Ross developed a list of
seven prima facia duties. This idea is described in the Ethical Pluralism excerpt stating, A prima
facia duty is an excellent, nonabsolute, permanent reason to do (or refrain from) something to
keep one s word, be grateful for kindnesses, avoid hurting others, and so on ( Ethical Pluralism
232). These duties are used to decide the appropriate choice to make in a situation. Ross
identifies a final duty. The final duty is what one should do after he or she has taken all of the
possible prima facia duties into account. One of Ross s prima facia duties is a duty to fidelity or
keeping one s promises. An example of the process for deciding on a final duty is: Carol s cousin is
coming into town on Saturday and Carol has promised

Personal Family History
My talk from church 29 July 2012

I have a family tree with branches by the dozens. I have grandpas. I have grandmas. I have uncles,
aunts, and cousins. When it s reunion time, no matter what the weather, it is such a happy day,
when the family gets together. Moses 6:5 8 and again in verse 46 This history of the dealings of
God with his people and the experiences they had constitutes our present scripture. It is nothing
more or less than sacred family history. Because it was written under the influence of the Spirit of
the Holy Ghost, it became scripture (Theodore M. Burton, The Inspiration of a Family Record,
Ensign, Jan. 1977, 17). President Spencer W. Kimball said: I urge all of the people of this church to

Compare And Contrast Heydrich And Ernest Shackleton
(STATE THESIS) When it comes to the leading their respective teams, Ernest Shackleton and
Reinhard Heydrich s approaches to leadership could not be more contradictory. This is not to say
that their differences make either of them a good or misleader. Each individual demonstrated
qualities that would classify him in either category. However, it is ultimately the intentions of the
leader and the presence of or complete disregard for humanity that categorizes each man where he
falls.
Holistically, in order to determine what makes an individual an effective leader or a misleader, one
must first understand the aspects of leadership. While it is impossible to condense what makes a
leader into a short list of qualities and ideas, for the intent of this paper, the comparative aspects of
leadership will be limited to: character, skills/talent, and results.
To begin, character can be understood as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.
Warren Buffet was quoted saying, there are three main qualities involved in leadership: integrity,
intelligence, and energy; without the first, the other two will kill you, (Warren Buffet). In reference
to Ernest Shackleton, the mariner was known by his crew to be optimistic, generous, and fair. At
the beginning of their expedition, however, these qualities were subdued by Shackleton s hubris. It
should be noted that, no mariner distinguished themselves on a smooth sea, (The Endurance
Movie). With that in mind, it was not

Chromium Simulation
Industry is the leading cause of hexavalent chromium contamination, and the United States is the
world leader in hexavalent chromium generation. The major producers among all industry are the
electroplating companies which is located in Garfield New Jersey and many other sites (EPA 1998;
ATSDR 2000). As numerous as the electroplating companies are, there are still many industries
where hexavalent chromium is produced in a big quantities. Wood treatment, leather tanning,
chemical production companies, paint pigment production companies, and of course, mining
operations can all generate various amounts of hexavalent chromium. According to the EPA s Toxic
Releases Inventory, large processing facilities account for approximately 2.2% of the total
hexavalent chromium release into the environment via air (NJDPH, 2010). There were 3,391 such...

All other amounts of total environmental release are from minor sources, which include the erosion
of materials that contain chromium, or the combustion of materials containing trivalent or
hexavalent chromium. Contamination as a result of runoff or seepage from the soil into another
media do not count as direct release into that media. Chrome plating techniques use chromic acid in
an activation stage, then a combination of chromium trioxide and sulfuric acid in the actual chrome

and typically contamination in which hexavalent chromium is involved from a chromic acid spill.
Chromium based paints are usually orange, yellow, or green and are chromium oxides. The
chromium ion in this case is the trivalent chromium. Trivalent chromium in this form oxidizes over
time, as a result of being continuously exposed to air, to hexavalent chromium, and as the paint
erodes, the hexavalent chromium can end up in soils, groundwater, and even air as

Argumentative Essay On Year Round School
For decades, primary and secondary schools are stuck in tradition of having school for nine
months and having several long breaks including a two month summer break. Several states in the
United States and in Canada have been throwing around the idea of year round school. Some say
that year round schooling is a good thing for the children and others say that the children need a
break from school, but also have a higher chance of forgetting the material before they return to
school the following year. With year round school, its focusing more on the students educationand
not the convivence for parents and school board. With having year round schools, students will
be able to obtain more information and perform better in the classroom. The children will learn
more in the classroom along with learning outside on their own. In the article, Why does
education stop in summer by editor Sylvia Stead, it states that a lot can be forgotten in the space
of eight or 10 weeks . Given this information it causes schools to give a second thought to
changing to year round school. Year round schools have been proven to help children learn better
in the classroom and outside. It helps maintain the students learning process to be able to focus
more on helping them retain the information and keep it throughout the school year. Stead has
seen how the school year has been set up to only be nine months with a summer break and she is
now seeing the school year as year round. She grew up

Persuasive Essay On Paying For College
Paying for College When entering high school many students already know what they want to
do when they grow up ; however, many students do not know how they will pay for the college
education to get them there. Some students will strive for the best grades possible to earn
scholarship money to have college funded for them, others will mess around, and end up wishing
they had tried harder, and having to pay for college themselves. Those students will have to have
a job during college to be able to afford books, tuition, and any other fun things they might wish to
do while they are away from home at college. College students working to pay for college tuition
or pay off college debt have less entitlement, more responsibility, and take greater pride in their
education; however, college students who have their college fully funded may feel more entitled
around the college campus, have less focus towards studies, and spend more time at parties, finally
they will never understand how much their education was truly worth. While each student may
receive the same education, the values and attitudes each student has can be even more valuable
than the college education itself. Being a young college student takes a lot of dedication and
responsibility; however, being a college student and working a job to pay for college at the same
time takes even more responsibility and dedication. Students must take accountability for
themselves, being able to turn in assignments, study for

Introduction
In early decades of the 18th century, privatization had been introduced into the market. This new

This may results to either two conditions increase in unemployment rate or decreases in standard of
living due to cost saving policy implemented by the privatized firm.
Secondly, privatization also affects the welfare of the society as a whole. This can be explained
by examining again the orientation of the firm after being privatized. Theoretically, economic
efficiency can be divided into two categories, namely productive efficiency and allocative
efficiency. Productive efficiency is achieved if firms produce goods and services demanded by
consumer, while allocative efficiency is achieved if the goods produced were marketed to the
right people. Right people here means people who demands for the goods and capable to pay for
it. Results from privatization is, the market now will replace the real needs of people with those
demanded item, given that it will yield high profit for the firm. For example, basic needs like tap
water and electricity is not available in certain rural areas, but firms compete with each other to
bid for mega projects in big cities. Here, firms are no longer concern with their social responsibility
towards public, but only interested in making huge profit.

The New Deal And Civil Rights
Over the years State powers has changed. The States have gained less power relative to the Federal
government. Originally the States were the sole governing power through the Articles of the
Confederation due to the fear of the development of a monarchy that the U.S. had fought so hard to
rid themselves of. Thus gave creation a new form of government through the constitution which
fundamentally began the shift of power from state to federal. Next, though significant historical
events such as the New Deal and Civil Rights we will see the Federal government infringement on
State power. Lastly, we will see how this constant struggle has continued to present day. First, let s
discuss how the constitution transferred State power to Federal power. The first form of U.S.
Government was through the Articles of Confederation. The Articles joined the States into a
collective group but allowed the states to retain their freedom and power (Lenz and Holman, 2013,
p. 31). Unfortunately, soon after the articles establishment the republic realized the need for a
stronger federal government. Thus the constitution was signed and ratified establishing a stronger
federal government to remedy the major defects of the Articles; taxing, executive office, interstate
and foreign commerce, amendment, and domestic order (Lenz and Holman, 2013, p. 32).
Therefore, the first drastic power shift occurred between State Power and Federal Power. According
to Lenz and Holman (2013), the constitution provided

The Biblical Interpretation Of Exodus And Song Of...
After Reformation period, the allegorical biblical interpretation was criticized and rejected by
contemporary biblical interpretation theory, and a lot of Christian evangelical churches. However,
as a long tradition stems from the early church, allegorical interpretation has never been
disappeared; on the contrary, it was one the most important exegesis tradition in the history of
Chinese Protestant Church. Many fundamentalist theologians and church leaders were influenced
by it, while Jia Yuming is one of the representative figures. This paper attempts to explain the
characteristic of Jia Yuming` s allegorical biblical interpretation, and to explore the contribution of
his exegesis in Chinese Christian theology. Jia Yuming`s allegorical interpretation was influenced
by several theological schools. He graduated from Presbyterian seminary, and had reformed
theology background, then he influenced by pietistic theology and Charismatic movement, and
then turned to allegorical exegesis. In this paper, we will use Jia Yuming` s interpretation of
Exodus and Song of Solomon as an example to analyze its characteristics. Exodus had a lot of

laws that protected women from abuse of male partners.(Shikibu, 2014) Furthermore, women were
allowed to divorce and remarry which was not even available in many European countries.(Lurie,
2004) All of the following droits were much more than what the previous Japanese civilizations
offered for women. During this period, women were still limited to outside or political activities,
thus, allowing more time to create literature. Consequently, many novels, poems, and literature
from the Heian Period are from female authors. Notably, the Heian Period was also the peak of
Japanese literature. Giving women more rights significantly changed the behaviour of Heian women

Advertising Campaign For Advertising
Campaign Information
Bud Light launched an advertising ad on their product that caused bad public relationships through
its customers and non customers. On April 28, 2015 Bud Light released a new slogan to their
product (Brown, 2016). The new slogan that Bud Light put on their product stated, Take No Out of
Your Vocabulary Tonight . Bud Light released this slogan because they started a campaign
#Upforwhatever in May 2012 (Brown, 2016). The campaign was advertised and geared towards the
younger generation to try new things. The movement of this campaign was to encourage people to
get out of their personal bubble and try new adventure. This was geared towards the younger
generation because that is who Anheuser Busch wanted to target because that generation can afford
to spend $18 on a 24 pack of beer and would not break the bank for college students. Another reason
that Anheuser Busch wanted to target that generation because they are all on social media and
advertising is shifting that way. The #Upfowhatever movement was to gain new business through
new customers and corporations (Hughes, 2015). The campaign was already two years old and has
inspired millions of consumers to engage with that hashtag to get out and try new adventures
(Hughes, 2015). The young generation was getting out and taking adventures throughout the world.

Video Game Sales Over The Past Years
With the success in our video game sales over the past couple of years, Ninesis Gaming Co. is
going to develop our own gaming console. We truly believe now would be the best time for us to
begin development on a new console that we and other game developing companies can create and
design games for.
Over the past year we have been in contact with game developers such as Ubisoft, EA, Bethesda,
and Rare; all of these developers had a common interest in developing games for a console that
we at Ninesis Gaming Company will develop and design. We are on the verge of creating a
gaming console to not only compete with the Wii U, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One, but to
surpass them in every marketable area. We have already constructed a prototype... Show more

In conclusion, the time is right and the developers are committed to hit the ground running as we
embark on this exciting industry changing endeavor. We are thrilled to invite you to join us on this
adventure. We have the technology, and the support of many third party developers who want to
create software for our console. With your financial support we will be able to accomplish this goal.
Sincerely,
Jordan Rowan: Owner

Abstract We at Ninesis game believe we are in a better time than ever to begin development on a
brand new gaming console that would compete with the Microsoft s Xbox One, Sony s
PlayStation 4, and Nintendo s Wii U. In this proposal I will go over everything from how we
will develop the Ninesis Gaming System and how much it would cost to produce enough of the
consoles to be able to send them out to testers. We believe this move in development would put
the company into the AAA gaming market. The technology that I will be explaining will show
that this console can be used for not only hardcore and casual gaming but, education, and training.
We are requesting to be funded to produce enough of these consoles so that we can get them out
to testers to see how well they hold up with today s gamers, educators, and work force. In order to
develop the Ninesis Gaming System, Ninesis games will require a large development loan.
Introduction This proposal will show all the aspects and innovations of the Ninesis Gaming

The Role Of Hierarchy In The Early Church
As the early church expanded some teaching weren t clear that they were the word of God. One
of the teaching is apostolic succession. Hierarchy is a system or organization in which people or
groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority. Through hierarchy many
beliefs were passed down the ministry by popes and bishops. Many of these belief include the
canon, eucatist, hierarchies and etc. In order to find out what the was really said back then we must
go back to the early church fathers and read their manuscripts. In Matthew 16:19 Jesussays I will
give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven.Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven,
and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. With this Jesus passes on his teaching...

the church is in Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven.Whatever you
bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Meaning that Peter does just hold the keys of the the physical Church but also the spiritual one.
Therefore Peter is the first out of the twelve to receive spiritual authority over the Church. Even
so in Matthew 16:18 Jesus says that And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build
My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. Meaning that peter is the source of
all the churches knowledge since he is the foundation that the Church will grow from. With this we
a can now say that Peter is the head of the

Frank And Mustard
Frank and Mustard gather the historical information from the sixteenth century and note that the
authorities during this period recognized that famines were man made rather than natural disasters
not because food was not available but because of the lower classes inability to obtain it or gain
access to it (p.3). The state interfered, which angered farmers, producers, and merchants and
contributed to the grievance against Charles I and the Civil War. The Tutor Stuart program of food
relief, this policy change subjected England to nearly two centuries of periodic famines, food riots
because of distribution and not production (p.4).

The decrease in mortality rates over the over the past 150 yrs. has been attributed to four factors
according to the UN report in 1953. Those factors are; 1) public health measures;2) advances in
medical knowledge and therapeutics;3) improved personal hygiene; and 4) improved standard of
living (p.5). Mckeown and Brown s attempts at understanding why health improved, explored
factors which influenced the major decline in mortality rates in the United Kingdom after 1840
(p.5). They cited a large decline in mortality from airborne diseases, water and sanitation systems
in the 1800 s and finally concluded that the decrease in mortality was due to improved prosperity
and nutrition (p.5). These factors are discussed in modern times as Dr. Steven Woolf gave his
testimony to the U.S. Senate in 2013, that as an example, 68% of American adults have income that
is more than twice the poverty level. Suppose we boosted that number just slightly, from 68% to
70% and looked at the impact on one disease diabetes. That higher income would mean about 400
million fewer cases of diabetes saving $2 billion per year to treat that disease (p.1). Increasing
income contributes to lower health issues and chronic disease. The applied simplistic equation of
increased income decreased health issues is phenomenal, but why are we a society in which
inequalities in health still

Essay about How the Media Uses an Ideal Victim in...
In recent years, the subject of crime has become an increasingly important theme of political,
academic, and public debate. In particular, the media today is more focused on victims than it has
ever been before. Through media representations of the ideal victim , this essay will subsequently
show how the media are able to construct and re affirm pre existing traditional ideologies within the
public realm. In effect, this assignment will critically assess the concept of an ideal victimand show
how the media have used this when describing crime. In reference to the media s role, they have
been highlighted for playing a part in maintaining these views by portraying victims in a certain
way according to the newsworthiness of each story... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term is often related with negative meanings of powerlessness, passivity, and some victims
could be even perceived as inferiors. It is also important to note that when the word victim is
gendered, it is biased towards the female sex. Therefore, assumptions that females are passive and
weak also coincide with the assumptions of victims. The alternative term survivor is sometimes
preferred, particularly by feminists, as it places emphasis on their strength and the severity of the
experience with crime. In addition, groups may also be victims; usually involving a type of hate
crime such as racism or homophobia.
In victimology, there are still many unanswered questions and difficulties to find patterns that
would easily classify victims, because nobody is exempt from becoming a victim. Nevertheless,
some clichГ©d views about victims are embedded in our society. For example, Christie (1986)
describes the idea of the ideal victim, which is, in fact a person who is easily given the status of
being a victim. Ideal victims are perceived as blameless, law abiding, usually female, vulnerable
and worthy of help, sympathy and attention. Walklate (2005) used the fairytale of little red riding
hood to illustrate the ideal victim ; young, innocent, female out doing good deeds only to be
attacked by

Civilization And Perception
George Orwell, 20th century award winning novelist of 1984 wrote, He who controls the past
controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past. This idea is the fundamental
basis under which lies various identity surrounded disputes within modern communities. The
influence of the Spanish conquest on Native Americans and their struggle to reconstruct their
identity today, and the Ayodhya dispute between the Hindu and Muslim people depicts the
consequences of the Western idea of White Man s burden and the importance of a nation state s
interpretation of the past to assert a political agenda. The past s concept of civilization greatly
affects modern perception of identities today, thus leading to contention in the identity struggles...

The past is used to form and reinforce group identities, and physical things are used as evidence of
national identity, and powerful symbols of a civilization s impact on an area . The Babri mosque
stood as a religious symbol of Muslim national identity, and for the Hindu community, a denial of
their religious heritage. Since 1947, Hindus have tried to prove that the first Mughal emperor,
Babur, destroyed a temple for their deity: Rama, and in its place built the mosque. In 1942, Hindu
nationalists destroyed the Mosque, and the riots that broke out in India and Bangladesh contributed
to over three thousand deaths. The destruction of the symbolic site was the Hindu nationalist s
attempt to erase Muslim national identity from India, to assert control over the civilization they
considered to be their subordinates. Excavatory efforts in 1990 unearthed sculptures that the Hindus
believed to be of Rama. In 2003, upon court ordered excavation, evidence of a prior Hindu structure
was unearthed, and in 2010 the court of India divided the site into three parts, the Hindus receiving
two thirds of the site, and Muslims the rest. Materially, by promoting their interpretations of the
past, Hindu people gained an official ruling that stated that the site was the birthplace of Rama.
Ideologically, they received public acknowledgement that the site

E commerce Legal Protections
The use of the internet for e commerce transactions is transforming the way people around the
globe purchase goods and services. While brick and mortar businesses struggle to keep their doors

Color Purple Archetypes
Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple, portrays the main character Celie as an introverted
butterfly who has yet to come out of her cocoon, hiding away from confrontation and actions that
could cause negative reactions. As the story progresses, she blossoms before the reader,
becoming more present in her world where she would otherwise be shuttered in. Her character
development is due to the introduction of two very empowering and independent women, acting
as female archetypes throughout the novel. Shug, a woman with a fiery personality that ignites
inspiration in Celie to further herself as a woman, is the main focal point of the female
archetype in this novel. Celie wants to change herself; not to fit into the mold in which Shug has
pushed herself into, but to better her life. Shug s personality was able to rid Celie of the internal
dark cloud living inside her. Shug is clearly identified as a female archetype throughout the novel;
an empowering woman who stands against the odds she has been faced with. Another female
archetype in the novel is Sofia, Mr._____ s (Celie s husband) daughter in law. Sofia shares many

dry her tears, becoming a caregiver of sorts. She can also be seen as possessing the hero
archetype because Celie admires Shug and aspires to be similar to her, not in her behavior but her
confident personality. Celie sees how easily it is for Shug to stand up for herself and to act
confident around higher male figures, both are things she has never managed to

  • 2. Water Management Case Study Using named examples, assess the contribution of large scale water management projects in increasing water security. 15 Water security means having access to sufficient, safe, clean and affordable water. Theoretically, the world s poorer countries are the most water insecure, suffering from both physical and economic water scarcity. One solution to tackle water insecurity is through large scale water projects for example the Three Gorges project in China, the South North transfer project also in China and the restoration of the Aral Sea. However there is much controversy over whether these schemes are actually sustainable and therefore beneficial in the long run. The Three Gorges da project in China blocks the Yangtze River; it cost $50... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This money is being used to build a second dam, after the successful $68 million dam that split the sea into two and already filling the northern sea up. Although this has seen fishermen s business improve along with returning rain, the problem on the Uzbekistan border is yet to be solved with the southern sea still shrinking. The economy of Uzbekistan is struggling to fix this problem as their economy heavily depends of cash crops which are not being produced due to the lack of water and irrigation of cotton fields. An additional problem for Uzbekistan is that their headwaters are controlled by other countries. This problem is exacerbated by the part of the world they re in and any change could easily trigger conflict from neighbouring countries. To conclude, although large water management schemes due in some cases increase water security for the intended target destination, there are many other factors which need to be considered deeply to evaluate whether the economic costs as well as the environmental and social costs are worth sacrificing for what the project will ... It started when an eighteen year old women told the police she was abduct, taken to the desert and rape. The police arrested and questioned Ernesto Miranda. In 1966, the case of Miranda vs .Arizona went to the Supreme Court of the United States. The court ruled that policemust advise you of your rights when they make an arrest. The Court said that when a person is arrested he/she must be told what their rights are: the right to remain silent, that anything you say can be used against you in a court of law and that you have right to an attorney. • 4. Essay Before Breakfast by Eugene O Neill Before Breakfast Before Breakfast is a short gloomy play by Eugene O Neill. Eugene O Neill was born in 1888 in New York City. He is the only American dramatist to ever win the Nobel Prize for literature. Before Breakfast is set in the Greenwich Village section of New York City, in a small one room flat on Christopher Street. The flat consists of a kitchen and dinning area. There are only two characters in this drama. Mrs. Roland who is the only speaking character and her husband Alfred. Alfred s hand is seen once in the play, but not much else. This is symbolic of an absentee husband or a non existent marriage. Although, Alfred is not seen, he contributes a great deal to the conflict. With only Mrs. Rowland on stage, O Neill ... His depression contributes to a self destructive lifestyle, dragging his wife along with him. It was inevitable the marriage would fail. Mrs. Rowland, the protagonist, is portrayed as the stereotypical nagging wife. While a flat character, she is very realistic. Her level of diction implies her lack of education, she is also bitter towards her husband. Her bitterness is not unfounded. Alfred is of no help, Heaven knows I do my part and more going out sewing every day while you play the gentleman and loaf around bar rooms with that good for nothing lot of artists from the Square (Jacobs 1211). Mrs. Rowland s husband is adulterous and can not hold down a job. Mrs. Rowland loves her husband, although she does not like the way he treats her. She exhibited love by continually enabling him, paying the rent, providing food, and cleaning up after him. She regards Alfred s depression as laziness. Not that I ve got any doubts about your being lazy enough to stay in bed forever (Jacobs 1211). After learning Alfred s lover Helen, is pregnant, her frustration and disappointments only intensify. Alfred the antagonist is a flat character, but also very realistic. He is the stereotypical insensitive, substandard husband. • 5. Freedom of the Press Versus Right to Privacy Freedom of the press versus right to privacy ByRobert Skidelsky (China Daily) Privacy has become a big issue in contemporary jurisprudence. The right to privacy is enshrined in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, and guaranteed by Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. But Article 8 is balanced by Article 10, which guarantees free expression of opinion . So what right has priority when they conflict? Under what circumstances, for example, is it right to curtail press freedom in order to protect the right to privacy, or vice versa? The same balance is being sought between the right of citizens to data privacy and government demands for access to personal information to fight crime, terrorism, and so on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A law that curtails the abuse of press power while protecting its freedom to expose the abuse of political power would be difficult, but not impossible, to frame. The essential principle is that the media should not be allowed to pander to the public s prurience under cover of protecting the public interest. What famous people indeed ordinary people, too do in private should be off limits to the media unless they give permission for those activities to be reported, photographed, or filmed. The only exceptions would be if a newspaper has reasonable grounds for believing that the individuals concerned are breaking the law, or that, even if they are not breaking the law, they are behaving in such a way as to render them unfit to perform the duties expected of them. Thus, a pop star s consumption of illegal drugs may be reported, but not his or her sexual habits (if they are legal). The private life of a politician may be revealed if it is expected to have consequences for the way the country is being governed; that of a top executive of a public company if it may affect the returns to shareholders. This should be the only public interest defense available to a media outlet that is sued for invasion of privacy. The media might become a bit drearier, but public life would be far healthier. The three kinds of muscles are different in some ways and they do have things in common. Almost 650 of the 700 muscles in the human body are skeletal muscles. Skeletal muscles are also known as voluntary muscles because we can voluntarily control their movements. An example, humans choose to use skeletal muscles when they flex their arm muscles or run laps around a track. Your Skeletal muscles are arranged in the body so that they are held in a slight stretch over the joint. If your leg muscles for instance, were entirely relaxed while you were standing up your legs would buckle and you would fall in a heap. Skeletal muscles are often attached from one side of the bone over the joint to the end of another bone. Skeletal muscles function in pairs or groups like a team. Usually, these muscles pairs or groups are Antagonistic. This means that they work against one another while one or more muscles in the pair or group contract, or get smaller and thicker, the other relax, or get bigger and thinner. Muscles can pull bones, but they can t push them. Without other muscles in the pair or group to pull a bone back would remain in the same position forever. • 7. Conformity And Rebellion In The Lottery By Shirley Jackson In her short story, The Lottery, Shirley Jackson uses conformity and rebellion to convey the main theme, which is that blindly following tradition can have negative consequences. The village members show this through their actions while carrying out this lottery that they have done for generations. One character, Tessie, is the outlier who is a rebellion compared to the other villagers. Her character s actions contrast the other villagers, and make what they are doing seem much more irrational. It also shows how the majority refuses to hear what one who deviates from the norm has to say. This allows them to remain in a bubble and continue to live out the same customs year after year. The villagers conform to these traditions for the sole reason that it s been done for so many years before them. Long enough that they do not even remember certain aspects of it, like the tuneless chant and the ritual salute . Characters like Old Man Warner are symbolic of the older generation that clings without question to practices that may not continue to be beneficial for the community. The black box from which the slips of paper are drawn represents the villagers inability to change. The box is very old and in bad shape, but when it is suggested that the people make a new box, the subject is allowed to fade off without anything s being done. Further emphasizing the long history of both the box and the ritual, the narrator notes: There was a story that the present box had been made with some pieces of the box that had preceded it, the one that had been constructed when the first people settled down to make a village here. Old Man Warner, the oldest man in the village, also represents the theme of tradition. When Mr. and Mrs. Adams suggest to Warner that some other villages have already given up the lotteryor are thinking about doing so, he replies with, Next thing you know, they ll be wanting to go back to living in caves . There s always been a lottery. So the other villages who are straying from tradition are dismissed right away and are seen as barbaric for not following the rules. Essay on pop culture Introduction Technological advancements the last decades have contributed to the creation of a globalized era, with the English language as a common denominator, as the major language spoken between those who do not share any language. Globalization have made it possible for an extreme output of popular culture that has mainly origins of English speaking countries with U.S.A. as the main exporter of popular culture through music, movies, television etc. In this essay I explore the positive aspects that using popular music in the classroom might potentially have. Teachers might feel a general unwillingness toward incorporating popular culture in the classroom and there are often several issues that create this point of view. teachers might not understand the contemporary popular culture of today s youth and therefore project negative thoughts on what is popular, expressing ideas such as; children who are more interested in popular culture are not as bright as those who prefer reading. Teachers might also regard pop culture as contra productive for student s creativity and reason that they get enough of input in their spare time (Lambirth, 2003). However, the teachers are not those who can fully take the blame for not wanting to incorporate popular culture in the classroom. The teachers are caught between the two strong influences, of the popular culture industry and those who create the educational policies (Lambirth, 2003) It might therefore be unfair to lay blame on teachers for not wanting to take a gamble on their jobs and career by using methods that does not follow their curriculum. • 13. Essay On Gerrymandering When looking at a map of the United States, it can be seen that it is very cut and dry. The borders of states are straight, cut at right angles, and distributes the land proportionally. The same cannot be seen or said for Congressional districts. The intention is to evenly divide up the States even further but instead, it is based on the state populations. It can also be apparent that the drawing of the districts in recent years has been less than about population numbers, but as to who the population votes for. Representation including district boundaries is known as the practice of gerrymandering. So in the process of setting districts, gerrymandering is a practice attempting to establish a political advantage for a particular group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was not until 1964 in the case of Reynolds vs Sims that found An individual s right to vote for state legislators is unconstitutionally impaired when its weight is in a substantial fashion when compared with votes of citizens living in other parts of the State (Reynolds v Sims), which came as a result of discriminatory representation in the state of Alabama. This case however, only outlines unlawful practice in a narrow fashion, not giving full width to the possible practices. Districts can still be redrawn in ways that give one group a large advantage over their competitors. It is described that Voters in seven states...have turned to such commissions in an effort to reduce political gerrymandering, the map drawing method that leads to districts easily won by Democrats or Republicans (Wolf). This is why we see districts drawn in such illogical patterns that render the minority groups, most likely powerless. This can also allow the minority group to unlikely win. Only when race seems to be the predominant factor in the apportionment, do these redistribution schemes face any legal action, being at risk with the 14th Amendment. These characters are representative of all people and not just their specific characters in the novel. My vacation is not due for six months but I think I can arrange it before then. I think I will have to. I am not meant to be alone and without you who understand. Singer is very lonely without Antonopoulos, and his dream after he writes the letter describes Singer and Antonopoulos naked on the street. • 24. The Ethical Theory Of Ethical Pluralism With the numerous ethical theories available, it can become difficult and overwhelming to decipher which one offers the best guidance. Some might seem to be too strict while others may not offer enough of a path to follow. W.D. Ross came up with a path that provides a median between some of the popular theories by introducing the concept of prima facia duties within the idea of ethical pluralism, a form of ethicsin which there are at least two moral rules. Through explanation of what the prima facia duties are, comparing how Ross s idea differs from Kantian ethics and utilitarianism, and by exploring some of the benefits of adhering to Ross s idea, it becomes evident that one should be in favor of his approach to ethics. Ross developed a list of seven prima facia duties. This idea is described in the Ethical Pluralism excerpt stating, A prima facia duty is an excellent, nonabsolute, permanent reason to do (or refrain from) something to keep one s word, be grateful for kindnesses, avoid hurting others, and so on ( Ethical Pluralism 232). These duties are used to decide the appropriate choice to make in a situation. Ross identifies a final duty. The final duty is what one should do after he or she has taken all of the possible prima facia duties into account. One of Ross s prima facia duties is a duty to fidelity or keeping one s promises. Compare And Contrast Heydrich And Ernest Shackleton (STATE THESIS) When it comes to the leading their respective teams, Ernest Shackleton and Reinhard Heydrich s approaches to leadership could not be more contradictory. This is not to say that their differences make either of them a good or misleader. Each individual demonstrated qualities that would classify him in either category. However, it is ultimately the intentions of the leader and the presence of or complete disregard for humanity that categorizes each man where he falls. Holistically, in order to determine what makes an individual an effective leader or a misleader, one must first understand the aspects of leadership. While it is impossible to condense what makes a leader into a short list of qualities and ideas, for the intent of this paper, the comparative aspects of leadership will be limited to: character, skills/talent, and results. To begin, character can be understood as the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. Warren Buffet was quoted saying, there are three main qualities involved in leadership: integrity, intelligence, and energy; without the first, the other two will kill you, (Warren Buffet). In reference to Ernest Shackleton, the mariner was known by his crew to be optimistic, generous, and fair. Originally the States were the sole governing power through the Articles of the Confederation due to the fear of the development of a monarchy that the U.S. had fought so hard to rid themselves of. Thus gave creation a new form of government through the constitution which fundamentally began the shift of power from state to federal. Next, though significant historical events such as the New Deal and Civil Rights we will see the Federal government infringement on State power. Lastly, we will see how this constant struggle has continued to present day. First, let s discuss how the constitution transferred State power to Federal power. The first form of U.S. Government was through the Articles of Confederation. The Articles joined the States into a collective group but allowed the states to retain their freedom and power (Lenz and Holman, 2013, p. 31). Unfortunately, soon after the articles establishment the republic realized the need for a stronger federal government. Thus the constitution was signed and ratified establishing a stronger federal government to remedy the major defects of the Articles; taxing, executive office, interstate and foreign commerce, amendment, and domestic order (Lenz and Holman, 2013, p. 32). Therefore, the first drastic power shift occurred between State Power and Federal Power. According to Lenz and Holman (2013), the constitution provided ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The decrease in mortality rates over the over the past 150 yrs. has been attributed to four factors according to the UN report in 1953. Those factors are; 1) public health measures;2) advances in medical knowledge and therapeutics;3) improved personal hygiene; and 4) improved standard of living (p.5). Mckeown and Brown s attempts at understanding why health improved, explored factors which influenced the major decline in mortality rates in the United Kingdom after 1840 (p.5). They cited a large decline in mortality from airborne diseases, water and sanitation systems in the 1800 s and finally concluded that the decrease in mortality was due to improved prosperity and nutrition (p.5). These factors are discussed in modern times as Dr. Steven Woolf gave his testimony to the U.S. Senate in 2013, that as an example, 68% of American adults have income that is more than twice the poverty level. Suppose we boosted that number just slightly, from 68% to 70% and looked at the impact on one disease diabetes. That higher income would mean about 400 million fewer cases of diabetes saving $2 billion per year to treat that disease (p.1). It is also important to note that when the word victim is gendered, it is biased towards the female sex. Therefore, assumptions that females are passive and weak also coincide with the assumptions of victims. The alternative term survivor is sometimes preferred, particularly by feminists, as it places emphasis on their strength and the severity of the experience with crime. In addition, groups may also be victims; usually involving a type of hate crime such as racism or homophobia. In victimology, there are still many unanswered questions and difficulties to find patterns that would easily classify victims, because nobody is exempt from becoming a victim.
