Today we see headlines saying elderlies being mistreated in nursing homes. 1 out of 3 nursing home
has a report of abuse and in 1996, approximately 450,000 adults over the age of 60 were abused and
/or neglected in domestic settings. ABC news reports that common problems include untreated
bedsores, inadequate medical care, malnutrition, dehydration, preventable accidents and inadequate
sanitation and hygiene. Although these are just a few incidents, more do occur. ABC News also
reports documents instances of residents being punched, slapped, choked or kicked by staff
members or other residents, causing injury such as fractured bones or lacerations. These common
incidents occur throughout many nursing homes. Abuse to an elderly person can cause them to
have psychological abuse. Psychological abuse is when a caregiver cause emotional pain or stress
to a patient. Elders who experienced abuse, even modest abuse, have a 300% higher risk of death
when compared to those who had not been abused.
In 2006, 89 year old Albert Wagner was sexually abuse by a nursing home worker at Mid Coast
Senior Health Center in Brunswick, ME. Due to Wagner being legally blind and partially deaf it

Affecting primarily African American women in their child rearing years, between the ages of
15 and 40, lupus (for short) has a variety of symptoms. Diagnosis is rare due to differing
symptoms, yet detection is possible with the age of advanced technology. While diagnosis often
does not occur until lupus is in its latter stages, there are precursors Brown, Bond, and Waldron
(2014) encourage healthcare professionals to lookout for. Lupus is believed to develop in
individuals who are genetically predisposed to it and exposed to certain environmental factors.
Such factors include smoking and certain hormones that are directly affected by stress. Studies
have shown that despite whether stress precedes or antecedes smoking, smoking is used as a stress
management technique. Being a poor one, few smokers know that smoking often results in an
increase in stress levels. Likewise, certain hormones like estrogen and prolactin increase with
stress. Both hormones of which are related to inflammation and immunodeficiency which can
precede a lupus flare. Despite this, studies have shown biofeedback assisted cognitive behavioral
treatment and chronic disease self management programs to be effective in directly lowering stress
levels and indirectly managing lupus symptoms and flares. There is room for more research to be
done, but for now, such studies support need for stress management techniques in the lives of lupus

6.Assembly line: In this department the main assembly line associates install all components into
the vehicle with ease as the vehicles doors are removed before they are being sent to this
department. After the doors are fully assembled, vehicles are sent back to the main line to be
reattached to the unit.

chasee, exterior and complex. Each process within that specific zone gets thoroughly examined by

Vehicle quality: In this department there are series of test involved to check the vehicle quality and
100% of the units are sent through this process. Sophisticated features such as adaptive cruise
control, line spot monitoring, forward collusion warning and lane change monitoring systems are
adjusted and verified first. Then, the unit receives a static wheel alignment and the headlights are
adjusted. The unit is driven on a dynamometer which checks engine and transmission functions,
cruise control and the anti lock braking system. After that, the unit is sent through a shower testing
booth to check for water leaks and driven on a test tracks, testing various roads surfaces. Additional
examinations will take place to confirm quality before the vehicle is transported to the dealership.
Poka yoke and Kaizen are the lean tools used in this department. Here all the items are examined
properly before sending the car to the market for the purchase. This means that all items will be
properly tested for error proofing. Since Poka yoke helps in mistake proofing and avoiding all the
error, I believe this tool has been executed successfully in this department.
