The Use of Semiotics in Coco Cola s Advertising Essay
The term Semiotics refers to the study of signs and symbols, the relationship between written or
spoken signs and of the meanings that are created. The essay will first of all try to give some
definition a review of the main terminology used in the study of Semiotics and will then apply
these to a series of texts, relating to advertising for Coca Cola.
The basics of Semiotics were laid down by a Swiss linguist, Ferdinand De Saussure (1857 1913).
He used the word to describe a new science which he saw as a science, which studies the life of
signs at the heart of social life [Saussure cited in Underwood] He considered that a sign had two
essential elements: the signifier and the signified. A signifier is any material thing that... Show more

(Underwood Cultsock) Other terms relevant here are Icon signs whose signifiers bear a close
resemblance to the thing referred to (Underwood), for example a road sign showing a man at
work can be considered an iconic sign and the term index an index is a sign whose signifier we
have learned to associate with a particular signified (Underwood)
Coco Cola advertisement seemed a good choice of texts for analysis because of the nature of
Coca Cola s approach to advertising. The famous logo was created in 1885 and this together
with the iconic shapes of the bottle and corporate colours have not really changed since then.
The shape of the bottle and logo colouring, instantly identifies it as Coco Cola. The advertisement
analysed below is taken Vogue Magazine (Issue November 2007) and is for Diet Coke which
was a new venture for the company in 1982 and within two years Coke had become the top low
calorie soft drink in the world. Although Coke replaced the traditional name of Coca Cola , the
red is still used and silver replaces the white The traditional iconic and immediately recognizable
bottle shape has been kept. At the basic level of denotation the bottle and the words Coke and
written text represent a beverage and the bottle can be considered as an index of drink. It can also
be regarded as iconic in that the shape if the bottle and distinctive logo are immediately

Ice Hockey Research Paper
Hockey is a sport thats origins may be from Persia, Egypt or China, while archaeological evidence
shows an early ball and stick game played in Greece in the 400s BCE. As civilization spread, so

Montreal, bringing the sport of ice hockeywith him bringing with him hockey sticks and skates.

Questions On Dispute Resolution Mechanism
CIVIL 790 Civil Engineering Administration Assignment 1 Dispute Resolution Mechanism
Disputes are a common occurrence when dealing with construction contracts, and can arise in a
number of different areas. Some of the more common areas include; time for completion, quality of
workmanship, payment, and contractual documentation. Section 13 in NZS3910:2013 sets out to
resolve such disputes using the Disputes Resolution Mechanism , by attempting to fairly/equally
resolve any dispute which is not precluded by the previsions of 12.4, 12.6, 13.1.1 or 13.2
(NSZ3910:2013 13.1.2), whilst maintaining flexibility, and preservation of the disputants
relationship. Section 13 of NZS 3910:2013 sets out to resolve any dispute/difference using a three
step process, wherein after each stage if the dispute is not amicably resolved, the next step is taken.
The Engineers review is the first stage in the Disputes Resolution Mechanism outlined in
NZS3910:2013. All disputes that arise must be referred to the Engineer not later than 1 Month after
the provision of the Final Payment Schedule under 12.5.1, 12.5.3, or 12.5.4 or more than 1 Month
after the date on which any relevant Adjudicator s Determination is given to the parties, whichever
is the later (NZS3910:2013 13.2). This process begins with the Principal, Contractor, or the

Ray Bradbury s Marionettes, Inc.
Marionettes, Inc. by Ray Bradbury takes place in the year of 1989 when two men are conspiring
over the thought of having a robot stand in for them at home so that they can go out and do
things their wives would not approve of. The story starts out as two young men are walking
down a street and Smith asks Braling why after ten years of never going out would he want to
go back home at such an early hour, and Braling goes on to explain that he has a new robot that
looks, acts, and smells like him so he can trick his wife and this is just a trial run to see if his
wife notices that he is missing, he also adds that his wife has been controlling him for the last ten
years and he would like to get away and go on his dream vacation without her. At first Smith is
suspicious about the company and the morals they stand for so he questions his friend to find out
more about the company. Braling then goes on to explain that the company is called Marionettes
Inc. and that although they are not yet legalized by the government they have been secretly running
their business for two years and they will clone anyone who is willing to pay 8,000 to 15,000
thousand dollars. Throughout the night Braling tries to convince Smith... Show more content on

Musui s Story
Newsletter for October 6 10
Musui s Story is a samurai s autobiography that portrays the Tokugawa society as it was lived
during Katsu Kokichi s life (1802 1850). Katsu Kokichi (or Musui) was a man born into a family
with hereditary privilege of audience with the shogun, yet he lived a life unworthy of a samurai s
way, running protection racket, cheating, stealing, and lying. Before we discuss how Musui s
lifestyle was against the codes that regulated the behavior of the samurai, it is essential that the role
of the samurai in Japanese society be understood.
The Japanese society was divided into four classes: samurai, peasants, artisans, and merchants. The
samurai was a class of warriors, emerged from Japan during the constant ... Show more content on

At his arrival at Mishima, he claims being a retainer in the service of Harima no kami of Mito in
order to intimidate the guards. According to the book, Mito was one of the three highest ranking
collateral houses of the tokugawa family.
Musui will deliberately continue his transgressions during his adult years. He kept visiting the
Yoshiwara repeatedly in many occasion, he traveled without permission, dealt with merchants, and
became materialistic. At one occasion, he even shamelessly pulled a big farce (p. 135) of
committing seppuku, which was considered as a sacred samurai ceremony, in order to get money
from peasants. What is striking in all this is that he shows no indication of regret for his act, but
instead describes the whole situation with pride.
Definitely, during his entire life, Musui did not live a life worthy of a samurai ethical standards
expected from all tokugawa samurai. He lied and stole. And throughout his autobiography, he
describes his encounters with thieves, beggars, priests, merchants, gamblers, confidence men, as if
he were taking proud of his actions, presenting himself as a hero, instead of a disloyal samurai. He
displays in the text no sorrow, regret, nor repentance, but pride instead.
The peaceful Tokugawa period presented problem to many samurai, and Musui s life is just one of
the many examples of lives that those samurai lived. Samurai had no battles to fight. Many had low
income or jobless

The Code Of Ethics And Systematic Ethics
Abstract. The article reviewed was The Impact of Ethical Tools on Aggressiveness in Financial
Reporting. The key of the abstract is to demonstrate the differences in financial reporting between
the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and U.S. Standards (p.477). More in depth
the research focuses on the code of ethicsand moral duties of company top management.
Introduction. The authors study the financial scandals and the recent financial crisis to demonstrate
the gap between market processes and accounting standards. The IFRS and U.S. GAAP differ in
contrary nature of accounting standards. GAAP is considered as rule based standards, while IFRS
viewed as a principle based. Therefore, the professional judgment on financial improprieties is
highly important (p. 479). The main objective of the research is to specify the impact of ethical
setting on judgment and decisions of accountants. The code of ethics and systematic ethics
trainings can diminish the inconsistencies from accounting policies. The study is important due its
analysis of mechanisms and alternatives of decision making, and the influence of code of ethics on
chief officers strategic choices (pp. 484 485). The authors focuses on the problem: how accounting
standards contribute to the professional judgment, company financial performance, and earning
management. The authors discuss issues that arise because of the unethical financial reporting.

Essay On Video Games Scapegoat
1. The scapegoat of the world: video games. But are video games really just a time waster? There
are over 155 million gamers in the United States alone, being told that video games are just a
way to get away from the world, or that video games are bad for your health. However, there are
some who believe that video games boost brainpower and intelligence. Video games are good since
they promote good physical health. 2. Fasted paced action games can make a players decisions

Gothic Elements In The Raven
There are three aspects within these emotional stanzas of The Raven that make it Gothic. Each one
in fact prompting the next. Firstly, death, death is the gothic backbone to this poem because
without it the other gothic elements would have nothing to originate from. Throughout the entirety
of the poem death is what haunts the narrator. The death of his beloved Lenore, how fiercely he
did adore, the price of her death his mindcould not afford, hence he was reminded by the Raventhat
she was Nevermore . Respite Respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore! Quaff oh quaff
this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore! Quoth the Raven Nevermore . , in this quote the
narrator clearly states the presence of death which is a definitive gothic element. As he converses
with the Raven there are certain ideas that become evidently true, firstly that the death in this poem
makes it gothic. Also as the Raven likes to remind us ever so frequently, not only is Eleanor
nevermore but the sanity of the narrator is aswell, is nevermore. The death of his beloved Eleanor
drove him to madness.
Insanity being the next Gothic element present within the poem, is what caused him to go into such
paranoia , sorrow and distraught. He became unable to sit in the dark without imagining sounds
that are not there or perceiving the Raven as as animal who has the ability to speak and taunt him
in doing so. It s said that the definition of sanity is the act of repetition with expectations of

Research Paper On The Hippocampus
The hippocampus is part of the Limbic System (Wright, n.d.). According to Wright, the
hippocampus formation is found in the temporal lobe of the brain. The study of the hippocampus is
vital in understanding how it governs human behaviors. As perceived, the brain is a complex
machine and through understanding its crucial parts in the processing of information would give a
clear understanding and precautions to people on how to protect their brain from memory loss and
other similar diseases. In addition, Wright explained that the hippocampusis directly linked to the
entorhinal cortex and the fornix. That is to say that the output pathways of hippocampus passed
directly to the entorhinal cortex and the fornix before reaching other anterior structures. What is
more, not only do outputs coming from hippocampus are passed through the entorhinal cortex, but
both parts are also directly connected to one another which includes the amyglada (Wright, n.d).
Why is this part of the study? As elaborated by Wright, both entorhinal cortex and amyglada are
structures that are connected to several parts of the brain. Thereby, all areas of the brain that are
connected to aforesaid structures could be affected by hippocampus.... Show more content on

Tips for this Baked Chicken Sausage Mac Cheese and Making the BEST Mac Cheese Ever First
things first, do NOT use pre shredded cheese when you make macaroni and cheese because the
anti caking agents that manufacturers toss the shredded cheese in will affect the quality of your
Mornay sauce meaning it will affect the way it thickens and melts. (Mornay sauce is basically
bГ©chamel sauce with cheese added...aka the glorious, velvety cheese sauce that makes mac
cheese so tasty!) So purchase blocks of cheese and grate them yourself by using a hand grater or a
food processor. For this recipe, I used my food processor because that s a lot of cheese to grate! LOL
The pasta, yep, picking the right pasta is what will make or break your mac cheese. Stick to
elbow macaroni or cavatappi and stay away from shells, bow ties, and fettuccine or linguine. The
ridges on cavatappi pasta allow the rich cheese sauce to grab hold and stick for ultimate eating
pleasure.
The next important thing is to use warm milk to make the bГ©chamel sauce. It s easier to
incorporate warm milk into the roux to prevent lumps, in my experience. If you read up on
bГ©chamel making you will discover that a lot of chefs say to use hot liquid with cold roux or cold
(or cool) roux with hot liquid. The key to lump free bГ©chamel is to incorporate the milk slowly.
I ladle the milk into the roux while whisking, after a few ladles of milk you can slowly

My Mother Pieced Quilts Summary
Our heritage and ideals, our hieroglyphics and manual to live, the things we fulfil we teach our
children. Are preserved and carried on or they parrish along with our identity. There are two
passages that abides this; My mother Pieced Quilts by Teresa Palomo and The Keeping Quilt by
Patricia Polacco. Both of these authors present their heritage and remembrance by magnifying
quilts to show a story in of itself that took struggles to get where they are today.
In the poem My mother Pieced Quilts by Teresa Palomo the daughter is expressing the importance
of her mother and that she struggled and strived to where she is today. According to Teresa Palomo

The Management Paradigm
Infusion of Technology into the Management Paradigm
We are now seeing the use of technology applications for disease self management and patient

enables proactive interventions to improve compliance with medications, as well as shared decision

Just like businesses use historical trends and history to forecast the future needs, colleges also
conduct trend analysis of actual student enrollments from previous student schedules to have a
better idea of which classes to offer the next semester. Of course, the trend analysis will guide
them so they are better prepared and schedule professors and the classroom location (due to the
number of students each classroom will hold) based prior on the enrollment numbers by class.
Incidentally, each year the college has a planned curriculum for each major, so they use the number

As a matter of fact, I decided the Goodness of Fit test for unequal expected distributions since we
have four different categories of majors with different percentages expected. In addition, if I had
chosen the Goodness of Fit test for equal expected results, the results would have been invalid as
the model selected was not applicable. Most statistical models are based on some sort of
underlying assumptions, and goodness of fit procedures are necessary in order to trust any
conclusions that are drawn from the model (Hansen, Jeske, Kirsch, 2015). As a result, the actual

couch to leave. Am I making a mistake? Maybe it can work out? I think and imagine his arms
around me, hugging me, holding me tight. I couldn t bear. The pain in my heart feels too strong to
endure. I have to stop myself from calling, running after him.
My cries turn into hysterics. I am angry. I feel so much pain, like I just got shot down, the bullets
piercing through my soul. I feel so alone. For days I cried myself to sleep; in the morning when I
woke up people asked me how I felt, but I lied convincingly because I did not want to reveal the
fact that I was suffering.
Even weeks after the breakup, I would jump up when I heard the phone ringing, thinking it was

while I was going through my phone book, I came upon a picture of him and I, together, laughing.

Adoptees Began The Adoption Reform
In the 1960s, adoptees began The Adoption Reform Movement to make sealed adoption records
accessible. Before then, traditional or closed adoptions were thought to be the best option for
everyone involved in the adoption triangle. This triad consists of the adoptee, adoptive parents, and
biological parents. In a closed adoption, the adoptee is not allowed access to medical records and
does not know their birth parents. Prior to the reform, people did not consider the ethical or
moral problems that would arise from these kind of adoptions. The belief was that sealed records
would protect everyone, but this is not the case. As adoptees grew into adults, the demand for
more information on their birth parents increased. This led to the debate of whether or not
adoptees were entitled to know the identity of their biological parents. The opposition from birth
mothers appeared almost immediately after the reform set about. These mothers were not ready to
give up their own rights to make the decision between open or closed adoption. Even though
biological parents have the ability to choose, adoptees have the right to know their biological
parents because of the search process being emotionally damaging, their need to access medical
records, and their development as a child.
Some people believe that it is the biological parents personal choice to stay hidden based on their
situation. In defense of the birth mother and father, it is understandable that open adoption does not

Analysis Of The Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World
The original seven wonders of the world list is The Lighthouse at Alexandria, The Great
Pyramid at Giza, The Colossus of Rhodes, The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, The Temple of
Artemis at Ephesus, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon . (The
Seven Wonders of the Ancient World Silverberg) This list can be both problematic and lacking
because the reading and the website article both show different illustrations on what the seven
wonders look like. This can be problematic because many people may see different images of
them and not get the right idea of what they look like. This can also be lacking because, the
information may not be gathered correctly and give false information on what they look like. Both
sources the reading The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

reading says that the list comes before Christ and a poet Antipater drew up the list and the online
source says that the list comes from Themala Greek things to be seen and was created by Philoof
Byzantium. The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is a list that historians have traced back to
the second century BCE. However, when inspected closely, the list appears to be biased because
in the printed source says the list comes from before Christ and a poet Antipater drew up the list. In

Horses Reflect The Thematic Idea Of Freedom In Horses
In the book when the emperor was divine, the motif of horses reflect the thematic idea of freedom.
In the book the Japanese Americans have been interned which means their freedom have been
taken away and horses are used to represent that freedom. In the beginning of the book the Japanese
Americans were placed in internment camps. The little boy in the book long to be free, just like the
horse. The spaniards had brought them over hundreds of years ago and now there were thousands
of horses just roaming around, wild . This quote shows how free the horses really are and this is
why they symbolize freedom.
Throughout the book horses are used many times and the thematic idea of freedom seem to change.

Upper House Persuasive Speech
Is an upper house of parliament the vital missing piece of democracy in Queensland or an
expensive, extra layer of red tape? Good afternoon, fellow classmates and Mrs Bruce, I am here
today to talk to you about how an upper house in Queensland is crucial for the success of our
justice system, how it is needed to enforce protocol on governments and required to give
Queensland the same accountability as every other federal and state parliament. Australian
parliament has a two houses; The House of Representatives and the Senate. These are alike to the
upper and lower houses Queensland once had. The House of Representatives has 150 members,
where each member represents 75, 000 80, 000 voters in a geographical area, called an electorate.

For legislations to be passed, there must be a majority vote. Therefore, when parties have
majority seats, they can practically pass any laws they like, especially when there is no upper
house to check . Now, how can we stand here and say this is not an issue? Extreme governments
are taking advantage of our justice system. An example of this was seen in the Newman
government. They began declaring legislations as urgent, using their majority seats to bypass
the Parliamentary Committee process. A legislation that was subject to this controversial way
was the anti bikie laws. These laws had many negative impacts on society and broke several
important civil rights. Two of the several laws that were made include; presumption against bail
for members of motorcycle clubs and police can stop and search persons wearing motorcycle
club colours. The presumption against bail for members of motorcycle clubs law, has broken the
right of freedom. Presumption against bail means in the eyes of the law you should not be

B. Dubois And Booker T. Washington Essay
W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington The end of the Civil War was followed almost
immediately by a new wave that would see the African Americans face great suffering and
discrimination. As newly freed slaves, African Americans were presented with a dilemma to either
curve a new niche in a society that once viewed and treated them as mere properties than humans. It
was during these difficult times that two key figures in the African AmericanHistory rose as
paramount leaders of two sharply contrasting philosophical camps. The Massachusettian William
Edward Burghardt and the Virginian Booker T. Washington
, both held two completely contrasting
proposals about the best approach for African American to overcome and thrive in the mist of their
suffering and racial discrimination. Although their approaches greatly differed, both of these noble
men shared a common goal in uplifting the black community in history. The aim of this paper is to
argue in the contrasting philosophies of these two key figures in the history of African America.
Booker T. Washington was born in around 1950s in Franklin County of Virginia and spent the
better part of his childhood as a slave. Following the emancipation, majority of the black
community including Washington ware convinced that obtaining a formalized education was the
best approach to improve their lifestyles and social class. The Blacks had a fairly limited
opportunity to access education due to the prevalence of social segregation.

There is never a better time then now to transform the body. Taking the first steps to changing
your body is the hardest part. Changes in a lifestyle need to occur, figure out the healthy foods
to eat, the healthy amount of calories to take in, and the certain exercises that will target the
fatter areas. Losing fat and exercising are the main parts to transforming the body. The process
of fat loss will help maintain a long, healthy lifestyle. The change in a lifestyle is one of the main
parts to the transformation of the body. This happens by completely changing eating habits,
exercises, and even the way a person thinks. Becoming fit is not as easy as people on TV shows
and ads make it seem. To begin the long road to getting in shape means hard work and pushing
the body till the goal is achieved. Always ask yourself honestly about your weight. Never sugar
coat things or beat around the bushes (Aschan). Most people who start gaining weight begin to
get insecure about their body and normally go to food for the satisfaction, but the key is to try
and go for exercise or an active activity for satisfaction instead. The best ways to make this
happen are to spend time with friends that like to work out or just stay away from lazy activities.
In order to live out this healthy lifestyle, keeping it regular is a must. Most people who go to diets

Arson Is The Criminal Act Of Intentionally Setting A Fire
The definition of arson is the criminal act of purposely setting a fire to property. To a crime scene
investigator arson is one of the most difficult things to investigate for many different reasons. For
starters a fire can take a long time to burn and before any sort of investigation can be done the fireas
to be well and truly out without any chance of it starting back up again. Usually when someone
commits the crime of arson the suspect has planned ahead and is gone before the fire is done
burning so it becomes a challenge to try to determine who has done it. Another problem that
many investigators have is that fire can cause extensive damage to the building that it is set in,
which could be dangerous for anyone who goes in there if the building becomes unstable, and it
can cause a lot of the forensic evidence to burn away. Along with trying to establish a suspect for
the crime it is also hard for investigators to establish a motive because there could be many
different reasons to why someone would commit arson. Like revenge, anger, and the few who
just like to see things burn. The problem with arson however is that it is hard to determine
whether or not the fire was really arson and purposely set or if the fire was accidental. A fire can
be started many different ways and it has many accidental causes. That is what many investigators
have to consider, all the factors of a fire or explosion. Fire investigators have a harder time trying
to investigate a fire scene because

Age and gender play a role in the rate of recognition of known and unknown stimuli. Francois
Guillem and Melody Mograss (2004) conducted a continuous recognition memory task using male
and female participants between the ages of 20 35 years old. Participants were shown pictures of
unfamiliar faces and asked to identify whether they had or had not previously seen the face.
Research shows that females have a faster recognition rate for both familiar and unfamiliar stimuli
(Guillem et al,2004). Males process information or stimuli differently than females, in part due to
brain structure and activation of neurons, but also because males tend to maintain less information
and are quick to make decisions while females are more detail oriented

Minimum Legal Drinking Age Analysis
The age of 21 is the appropriate age to allow the consumption of alcohol in the United States.
Moreover, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that in
2010, 552 lives were saved by the minimum legal drinking age (Voas, 2013, p. 1601). But traffic
safety is not the only concern, if lowering the minimum legal drinking age, health and behavior
issues will also be of concern. The possible consequences of lowering the minimum legal drinking
age to 18 may include an increase on the number of deaths caused by alcohol related accidents,
high schoolers underage drinking problem, and alcohol related sexual assaults. Therefore, I do not
support the lowering of the minimum legal drinking age to 18.

Since alcohol appears to enhance interest in sex, (Hart Ksir, 2015, p. 221) young people drink
and could engage in sexual risky behavior such as having unprotected sex or casual sex with
multiple partners. A consequence of unprotected sex could be an unwanted pregnancy or a sexual

been reported on more than one third of all rapes and sexual assaults (Hart Ksir, 2015). Alcohol
impairs the thoughts and places the young adult drinking illegally at risk of sexual assault. The
alcohol use increases the chance for sexual assault including rape.
I am in favor of the minimum legal drinking age to remain 21 as it is working keeping the alcohol
out of the hands of teens. The minimum legal drinking age law prevents alcohol related fatalities,
high schoolers underage drinking problem, and alcohol related sexual assaults. The effects of the
alcohol are already detriment and its consumption by those younger than 21 will create safety,

Causes Of Jim Crow Laws
During the time period of 1877 1954 a set of laws called the Jim Crow laws were put in motion.
They were laws that made segregation in schools and public places legal. No white person or
African American could be doing anything together at anytime. These laws were against all of the
African Americans living in the southern states of the United States. I believe the main cause of this
conflict was to segregate the African Americans away from whites, just as if they were still
slaves. White people thought that they weren t the same as them just because of their race,
color of their skin, or culture and therefore shouldn t be treated the same. On April 12th, 1861,
the Civil War started. The main purpose of this war was to either end slavery or to keep it,
depending on what side you were on (according to ferris.edu). People in the South wanted
slavery to keep going, but the people in the North wanted to end it. After 620,000 casualties and
four years of severe and cruel fighting the war ended. There was no more slavery, the North had
won. If the South had won the war there would probably still be slavery, so they wouldn t have to
make the Jim Crow Laws. This was the most important factor for the laws. With them losing the
war, now the people of the South had political, economical and cultural reasons for these laws. Due
to the fact that the South lost the war, there slaves were now free and now had political freedom.
Now the African Americans could run for political

Music Can Affect Human Behavior
Music can affect human behaviour and plays an important role in our lives from infancy to
maturity, evoking a variety of emotions and communicating messages about what is currently
happening or about to happen. People use knowledge of the world and their scripts and schemas as
a method of organizing the complex sets of information being input into memory. Schemas use
prior learned general knowledge about an event, a person, or a situation to provide cues of what to
expect in novel scenarios. Since scripts and schemas are developed from the experiences that an
individual undergoes, it makes sense that children would have fewer scripts and schemas in place.
Thus, adding a musical cue may help in comprehension and retention of information.
One reason that music likely enhances recall is that music may allow separate features of separate
events to become bound into one grouping as it passes from sensory to working memory. However,
the effect of music on the facilitation of cognitive comprehension in young children in recalling
novel information from working memory by manner of this binding of information is relatively
unstudied.
Music can be used to alter mood and facilitate positive interactions and cognitive functioning (Gold,
Frank, Bogert Brattico, 2013) as music acts as an auditory cue to the spatial pathways in the brain
and the motor cortex. As such, it may allow for faster information processing and comprehension
(Fagen et al., 1997). Pleasant sounding music has

Othello Play And Movie Comparison Essay
Many people prefer the book version of a story rather than the film it tries to become. This is due
to the fact that the author s intent of his own story is much more intriguing and familiar to its
readers than just another film version. However, some versions portray the story better than
others. Hollywood seems to have taken up the responsibility of creating complicated and
compelling characters on screen. Unfortunately, doing so can easily take away a story s rich,
necessary detail. For instance, Shakespeare s Othello has a few different movie versions of his
story. Both movies, the 1990 version by Trevor Nunn and the 1995 version by Oliver Parker, are
great productions carried by strong casts. However, there are areas in which the movie and the play
differ. These differences tend to interpret the filmin a different way compared to what Shakespeare
intended. The film portrayals of Shakespeare s Othello by Parker and the other by Nunn both

Life After High School Is Full Of Uncertainty
Life after high school is full of uncertainty. There are many different paths that one can take like

paths was easy for me; I am positive that I want to go to college. However, deciding which college
to go to is a seemingly impossible decision. Not only do I have to figure out which collegeis the best

A Comprehensive Assessment Of Economic Inequality And...
Martin Gilens provides a comprehensive assessment of the economic inequality and political power
in America. He explores on how the affluence of politicians influences the political setting of the
country. According to the author, political equality is considered as the philosophy of democracy.
Due to the inequalities that exist among the citizens regarding information, social and political
affairs, it would be impractical to anticipate equal influence over policymaking. Nature and the
degree of representative inequalities depict the extent of democracy in a particular society. The
author points out that when the inequalities in the political influence intensify, democracy shifts

The article pinpoints the fact that it is difficult to disentangle the personal preferences of the
Congressional members from influences that could affect their behaviors in decision making. There
is no reliable technique of measuring the personal preferences of the representatives that are
unaffected by the demands presented by their constituents. Various scholars who have analyzed this
scenario have made efforts to assess the roles that are played by individual preferences through
identifying some individual characteristics that are related to the interests and preferences of the
representative. For instance, the personal wealth of the member might be linked with their
economic policy preferences, and the use of tobacco by the member may be linked to their tobacco
legislation preferences.
Gilens also carried research on the professional histories of the representatives before their entrance
to the Congress. Unlike the previous assessment that the author had carried out about the economic
status, he found out that the histories of the members are related to their Congressional voting
records. Gilens also finds significant differences between the representatives and most of the
conformist professions. The author attributes the differences to the types of districts or the states
that the authors were elected from instead of any independent influence of their professional
backgrounds. The article is further supplemented by

Persecution Of The Puritans
During the late 16th and 17th centuries, the Puritans, or sometimes referred to as precisionists ,
were members of a religious reform who cast away the religious ideals of the Church of England
under Queen Elizabeth s rule. The Puritans planned to regulate a different way to worship, along
with censorious moral beliefs, often disregarding the beliefs of the entire English nation in order to
instill their own, leading to their persecution. A blog dated 2008 on the topic of the Puritan
persecution states: They were forced out because they wanted to reform human civilization through
religion, to wipe out poverty, and to make a heaven on Earth in which everyone was free to
discover God s will for themselves . It is evident that the Puritans, who believed in a more Protestant
variation of the Anglican Church, were persecuted and fled, but the exact reasons for this are often
disputed. The most popular trail of thought is that due to the backlash they received, the Puritans
could not be maintained and thus escaped. Other people are entertained by the thought that the
Puritans had been banished but in result, had only a sole thought in mind to reform human
civilization through religion somewhere else, as stated in the blog above.... Show more content on

They complained of that the recent application of the Anglican Church, was still too similar to the
Catholic Church, despite it being a substitution to the Catholic Church with slight modifications
due to King Henry VIII. The Protestants who thought as such had been deeply influenced by John
Calvin, who revolutionized against bishops holding too much power within the Church. The

Intellectual And Developmental Disabilities
Equal opportunities to all people prevent discrimination and social stigma, especially to
individuals with disabilities. Creating a policy to safeguard the welfare of this extraordinary
group of people is vital in the promotion of their well being. For citizens with Intellectual and
Developmental Disabilities (IDD), socioeconomic and/or environmental variables are significant
determinants of health. For the purpose of this essay, the emphasis will be on the intellectual and
developmental disabilities act and addressing their need to sustain healthy and active lives by
nourishing the basic necessity, the physiologic needs of the person. According to Maslow s
hierarchy of needs, the physiological basic need of a person needs to be met first.... Show more

The purpose of the bill is to provide support to people with disabilities, in order for them to
function independently in the community and to preserve their rights as a citizen of this country,
as well as reducing the impact of poverty and aiding the procurement of various supports and
services, including vocational training, case management, and family support services (Keesler,
2015, p. 42).
In a socioeconomic standpoint, the passage of the bill encourages some financial relief for the
families with disabled members as they are vulnerable to various disparities. However, people with
disabilities still continue to experience an array of disadvantages, whether in economic, health, and
social outcomes, including food security (Brucker, 2016). In the ethical political perspective, the
bill protects the fundamental right of people with disability to be able to function and participate
independently as much as they can, as well as protecting their rights to participate in a research
and be accurately presented (Durham, Brolan, Mukandi, 2014). Encouraging to voice out the
concerns of this group of individuals will provide more advocacy, hence representing appropriately
the aggregate in finding the answers to the needs of the people with

Peter Singer Analysis
Poverty and hunger is a common social issue that affects a large percentage of the world
population, and has troubled nations all over the world for thousands of years. It s an issue that
we can experience every day without realizing it. We might see a commercial asking for donations
on television, or a homeless woman asking for money to feed her son at the bus stop, or in the
news when they talk about children dying of starvation.
Now, this issue brings out a particular question; are we obligated to donate and help those in
need? Do we have a moral obligation to do so? Or is helping those in need morally optional? Peter
Singer and Jan Narveson both discuss this issue, yet both have very different opinions. Peter in one
hand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes helping those in need, and giving donation, is completely optional. Opposed to Peter
s belief, Jan indicated that there is a distinction from not preventing something bad from
happening, than actually making it happen. For example, If I was to lock you in a room and let
you starve to death, I have consiensly murder you. But if someone else was to do the same thing
to you, you would have died of starvation. The outcome was not intended by my actions. If was to
know that you were starving, I might feel pity for you and would want to help you, or pehaps I
would feel indifferent to what you are going thought, either way, my previous activities did not
cause your outcome, therefore I may choose if I want to help you or not. Jan also indicates that
there is a difference between justice and charity. Justice are those actions that we are enforced to
do. Charity is not. Charity is voluntarily wanting to help and benefit those less fortunate. It is
sometimes morally allowed to force someone to fulfill their justice duties, but it is not morally
allowed to force someone to be charitable. Charity is something you do because you want to, and
perhaps there is emotion behind that action. If we force people to be charitable, it will no longer be
charity, but

Initially, the League of Nations appointed 4 eminent economists (Prof. Bruins of Netherlands,

study of international double taxation. Their expert report published in 1923[6] was used as the
basis of the 1928 models[7] which in turn find their pattern repeated in many of the Treaties of
today. 3.b) 1935 Model convention[8] The 1935 Model Convention defined the term business
income and was the first model treaty to contain specific provision on allocation of profit from
one company to an associated company. Though the 1935 convention was never formally
adopted it was of great significance because of the issues it dealt with. The 1935 draft adopted
the principle of income attributable to a permanent establishment based on separate accounting.
Interestingly, it provided two more methods a) empirical method (percentage of turnover for
example) b) fractional apportionment under which net business income was determined by
various factors. Further, the 1935 model provided for all items of income other than those
allocable to specific sources to be grouped together as business income and rendered taxable on a
net basis. The 1935 draft was mainly based on the Carroll Report [9] which was compiled based
on Carroll s visit to 27 countries to extensively study their tax systems. Carroll

Why Is Brian Mulroney Powerful
Throughout Canadian history there have been many influential political leaders in the past, but
none as powerful or significant as Brian Mulroney. Through political criticism, Brian Mulroney
served as the longest Prime Minister in Canada. All together Brian Mulroney was one of the best
Prime Ministers, but he was just misunderstood. He gave CanadaFree Trade, which secured our
economic prosperity.
Brian Mulroney signed the Nunavut Settlement Agreement to secure Canada as a better country
and a better place to live. The settlement consisted of two things. The 1st thing that the settlement
was consisting of was the Arctic Islands and mainland Eastern Island. The 2nd thing the settlement
consisted of was the Belcher Island, and its association with the marine areas. The agreement that
was signed on July 9, 1993 was to create the new territory Nunavut which was established as a
province April 1, 1999. Brian helped Nunavut become a territory and helped Nunavut in their
troubles in the settlement. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

progressive Conservative political party ceased to exist. In a matter of time Brian Mulroney
became from one the best Prime Minister Canada has ever had to one of the worst Prime
Minister s Canada has ever had. Historically Conservative leaders oppose the initiative but this
time Brian Mulroney was for the initiative. Brian Mulroney said in his pre election that if it
affects Canada, we will have none of it. Mulroney later then proved that he is a man of his word
and fixed this issue

Is the Bisphenol A in polycarbonate a serious hazard to human health?
Abstract: Polycarbonate, which is a polymer plastic, is found in many bottles and food packaging
around the world. However, because Bisphenol A is used in the processing of it, there is a
potential danger to humans. Bisphenol A is a molecule that is a hormone inhibitor and also mirrors
the function of estrogen. Although the EPA has released a safe level for Bisphenol Aingestion,
recent research has shown that those levels may not be safe for humans. Until further testing is
done, scientists aren t certain of the threshold of BPA intake in humans before dangerous health
effects occur.

However, it is the molecule of Bisphenol A that is causing the most problems with the
polycarbonate.
Bisphenol A s molecular formula is C15H16O2 and a molecular mass of 288.29.
Three million tons of this hazardous polymer is produced yearly1. At room temperature, it is a
white solid and has a phenolic odor. 2 This chemical is an endocrine disrupter, and its presence in
large quantities within the body would probably be fatal. Tests have been done on rats with
exposure to BPA which shows that it raises levels of hormones such as prolactin in both males and
females as well as lowering the level of testosterone. 3 Studies have shown that BPA is comparative
to the estrogen hormone, as supported by those test results on rats. The Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) has set the level of safe exposure to BPA at 50 О
јg/kg/day, but this is
based on research that was done in the
1980s. 4 More recent studies have said that intake at that level would still be seriously

  • 3. The Use of Semiotics in Coco Cola s Advertising Essay The term Semiotics refers to the study of signs and symbols, the relationship between written or spoken signs and of the meanings that are created. The essay will first of all try to give some definition a review of the main terminology used in the study of Semiotics and will then apply these to a series of texts, relating to advertising for Coca Cola. The basics of Semiotics were laid down by a Swiss linguist, Ferdinand De Saussure (1857 1913). He used the word to describe a new science which he saw as a science, which studies the life of signs at the heart of social life [Saussure cited in Underwood] He considered that a sign had two essential elements: the signifier and the signified. A signifier is any material thing that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The famous logo was created in 1885 and this together with the iconic shapes of the bottle and corporate colours have not really changed since then. The shape of the bottle and logo colouring, instantly identifies it as Coco Cola. The advertisement analysed below is taken Vogue Magazine (Issue November 2007) and is for Diet Coke which was a new venture for the company in 1982 and within two years Coke had become the top low calorie soft drink in the world. Although Coke replaced the traditional name of Coca Cola , the red is still used and silver replaces the white The traditional iconic and immediately recognizable bottle shape has been kept. At the basic level of denotation the bottle and the words Coke and written text represent a beverage and the bottle can be considered as an index of drink. It can also be regarded as iconic in that the shape if the bottle and distinctive logo are immediately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first Smith is suspicious about the company and the morals they stand for so he questions his friend to find out more about the company. He kept visiting the Yoshiwara repeatedly in many occasion, he traveled without permission, dealt with merchants, and became materialistic. At one occasion, he even shamelessly pulled a big farce (p. 135) of committing seppuku, which was considered as a sacred samurai ceremony, in order to get money from peasants. What is striking in all this is that he shows no indication of regret for his act, but instead describes the whole situation with pride. Definitely, during his entire life, Musui did not live a life worthy of a samurai ethical standards expected from all tokugawa samurai. He lied and stole. And throughout his autobiography, he describes his encounters with thieves, beggars, priests, merchants, gamblers, confidence men, as if he were taking proud of his actions, presenting himself as a hero, instead of a disloyal samurai. • 10. Gothic Elements In The Raven There are three aspects within these emotional stanzas of The Raven that make it Gothic. Each one in fact prompting the next. Firstly, death, death is the gothic backbone to this poem because without it the other gothic elements would have nothing to originate from. Throughout the entirety of the poem death is what haunts the narrator. The death of his beloved Lenore, how fiercely he did adore, the price of her death his mindcould not afford, hence he was reminded by the Raventhat she was Nevermore . Respite Respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore! Quaff oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore! Quoth the Raven Nevermore . , in this quote the narrator clearly states the presence of death which is a definitive gothic element. As he converses with the Raven there are certain ideas that become evidently true, firstly that the death in this poem makes it gothic. Also as the Raven likes to remind us ever so frequently, not only is Eleanor nevermore but the sanity of the narrator is aswell, is nevermore. The death of his beloved Eleanor drove him to madness. Insanity being the next Gothic element present within the poem, is what caused him to go into such paranoia , sorrow and distraught. He became unable to sit in the dark without imagining sounds that are not there or perceiving the Raven as as animal who has the ability to speak and taunt him in doing so. • 11. Research Paper On The Hippocampus The hippocampus is part of the Limbic System (Wright, n.d.). According to Wright, the hippocampus formation is found in the temporal lobe of the brain. The study of the hippocampus is vital in understanding how it governs human behaviors. As perceived, the brain is a complex machine and through understanding its crucial parts in the processing of information would give a clear understanding and precautions to people on how to protect their brain from memory loss and other similar diseases. In addition, Wright explained that the hippocampusis directly linked to the entorhinal cortex and the fornix. That is to say that the output pathways of hippocampus passed directly to the entorhinal cortex and the fornix before reaching other anterior structures. What is more, not only do outputs coming from hippocampus are passed through the entorhinal cortex, but both parts are also directly connected to one another which includes the amyglada (Wright, n.d). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tips for this Baked Chicken Sausage Mac Cheese and Making the BEST Mac Cheese Ever First things first, do NOT use pre shredded cheese when you make macaroni and cheese because the anti caking agents that manufacturers toss the shredded cheese in will affect the quality of your Mornay sauce meaning it will affect the way it thickens and melts. (Mornay sauce is basically bГ©chamel sauce with cheese added...aka the glorious, velvety cheese sauce that makes mac cheese so tasty!) So purchase blocks of cheese and grate them yourself by using a hand grater or a food processor. For this recipe, I used my food processor because that s a lot of cheese to grate! LOL The pasta, yep, picking the right pasta is what will make or break your mac cheese. Stick to elbow macaroni or cavatappi and stay away from shells, bow ties, and fettuccine or linguine. The ridges on cavatappi pasta allow the rich cheese sauce to grab hold and stick for ultimate eating pleasure. The next important thing is to use warm milk to make the bГ©chamel sauce. It s easier to incorporate warm milk into the roux to prevent lumps, in my experience. If you read up on bГ©chamel making you will discover that a lot of chefs say to use hot liquid with cold roux or cold (or cool) roux with hot liquid. The key to lump free bГ©chamel is to incorporate the milk slowly. I ladle the milk into the roux while whisking, after a few ladles of milk you can slowly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fid Analysis Of MBA Students Just like businesses use historical trends and history to forecast the future needs, colleges also conduct trend analysis of actual student enrollments from previous student schedules to have a better idea of which classes to offer the next semester. Of course, the trend analysis will guide them so they are better prepared and schedule professors and the classroom location (due to the number of students each classroom will hold) based prior on the enrollment numbers by class. Incidentally, each year the college has a planned curriculum for each major, so they use the number of students who have declared a major to determine how many classes they offer for each course within the curriculum. In addition, if I had chosen the Goodness of Fit test for equal expected results, the results would have been invalid as the model selected was not applicable. Most statistical models are based on some sort of underlying assumptions, and goodness of fit procedures are necessary in order to trust any conclusions that are drawn from the model (Hansen, Jeske, Kirsch, 2015). As a result, the actual number of students with Leadership as their major was 70 with the expected percentage of 40% equates to 80 MBA students supposed to have Leadership as a major; 10 less than expected. • 21. Adoptees Began The Adoption Reform In the 1960s, adoptees began The Adoption Reform Movement to make sealed adoption records accessible. Before then, traditional or closed adoptions were thought to be the best option for everyone involved in the adoption triangle. This triad consists of the adoptee, adoptive parents, and biological parents. In a closed adoption, the adoptee is not allowed access to medical records and does not know their birth parents. Prior to the reform, people did not consider the ethical or moral problems that would arise from these kind of adoptions. The belief was that sealed records would protect everyone, but this is not the case. As adoptees grew into adults, the demand for more information on their birth parents increased. This led to the debate of whether or not adoptees were entitled to know the identity of their biological parents. The opposition from birth mothers appeared almost immediately after the reform set about. These mothers were not ready to give up their own rights to make the decision between open or closed adoption. Even though biological parents have the ability to choose, adoptees have the right to know their biological parents because of the search process being emotionally damaging, their need to access medical records, and their development as a child. Some people believe that it is the biological parents personal choice to stay hidden based on their situation. They began declaring legislations as urgent, using their majority seats to bypass the Parliamentary Committee process. A legislation that was subject to this controversial way was the anti bikie laws. These laws had many negative impacts on society and broke several important civil rights. • 29. Arson Is The Criminal Act Of Intentionally Setting A Fire The definition of arson is the criminal act of purposely setting a fire to property. To a crime scene investigator arson is one of the most difficult things to investigate for many different reasons. For starters a fire can take a long time to burn and before any sort of investigation can be done the fireas to be well and truly out without any chance of it starting back up again. Usually when someone commits the crime of arson the suspect has planned ahead and is gone before the fire is done burning so it becomes a challenge to try to determine who has done it. Another problem that many investigators have is that fire can cause extensive damage to the building that it is set in, which could be dangerous for anyone who goes in there if the building becomes unstable, and it can cause a lot of the forensic evidence to burn away. Along with trying to establish a suspect for the crime it is also hard for investigators to establish a motive because there could be many different reasons to why someone would commit arson. Like revenge, anger, and the few who just like to see things burn. The problem with arson however is that it is hard to determine whether or not the fire was really arson and purposely set or if the fire was accidental. A fire can be started many different ways and it has many accidental causes. That is what many investigators have to consider, all the factors of a fire or explosion. No white person or African American could be doing anything together at anytime. These laws were against all of the African Americans living in the southern states of the United States. I believe the main cause of this conflict was to segregate the African Americans away from whites, just as if they were still slaves. White people thought that they weren t the same as them just because of their race, color of their skin, or culture and therefore shouldn t be treated the same. On April 12th, 1861, the Civil War started. The main purpose of this war was to either end slavery or to keep it, depending on what side you were on (according to ferris.edu). People in the South wanted slavery to keep going, but the people in the North wanted to end it. After 620,000 casualties and four years of severe and cruel fighting the war ended. There was no more slavery, the North had won. If the South had won the war there would probably still be slavery, so they wouldn t have to make the Jim Crow Laws. This was the most important factor for the laws. With them losing the war, now the people of the South had political, economical and cultural reasons for these laws. Due to the fact that the South lost the war, there slaves were now free and now had political freedom. Now the African Americans could run for political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Music Can Affect Human Behavior Music can affect human behaviour and plays an important role in our lives from infancy to maturity, evoking a variety of emotions and communicating messages about what is currently happening or about to happen. People use knowledge of the world and their scripts and schemas as a method of organizing the complex sets of information being input into memory. Schemas use prior learned general knowledge about an event, a person, or a situation to provide cues of what to expect in novel scenarios. Since scripts and schemas are developed from the experiences that an individual undergoes, it makes sense that children would have fewer scripts and schemas in place. Thus, adding a musical cue may help in comprehension and retention of information. One reason that music likely enhances recall is that music may allow separate features of separate events to become bound into one grouping as it passes from sensory to working memory. However, the effect of music on the facilitation of cognitive comprehension in young children in recalling novel information from working memory by manner of this binding of information is relatively unstudied. Music can be used to alter mood and facilitate positive interactions and cognitive functioning (Gold, Frank, Bogert Brattico, 2013) as music acts as an auditory cue to the spatial pathways in the brain and the motor cortex. This is due to the fact that the author s intent of his own story is much more intriguing and familiar to its readers than just another film version. However, some versions portray the story better than others. Hollywood seems to have taken up the responsibility of creating complicated and compelling characters on screen. Unfortunately, doing so can easily take away a story s rich, necessary detail. For instance, Shakespeare s Othello has a few different movie versions of his story. Both movies, the 1990 version by Trevor Nunn and the 1995 version by Oliver Parker, are great productions carried by strong casts. However, there are areas in which the movie and the play differ. These differences tend to interpret the filmin a different way compared to what Shakespeare intended. The film portrayals of Shakespeare s Othello by Parker and the other by Nunn both display the character of Desdemona in very different ways. The Nunn version of this play did a much better job of portraying Desdemona as Shakespeare... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first scene she appears in, she is dressed in all white and looks like a peasant. Her white clothing symbolizes purity and wholeness. She shows that she has given up the luxurious part of her life to be with Othello. This shows her selflessness. Also, Nunn made her more child like by choosing an actress with a high pitched voice. She always jumped into the scene with excitement in her voice when she spoke. Nunn also made it obvious that Desdemona s character is very naive, just like a pure child would be. This is a necessary element to have in her character because without her ability to trust so easily she would have seen right through Iago s schemes. She needed to present herself as a gullible woman in order to suspect that Iago was nothing but a good friend to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Life After High School Is Full Of Uncertainty Life after high school is full of uncertainty. There are many different paths that one can take like going straight into the workforce, joining the military, or attending college. Picking one of these paths was easy for me; I am positive that I want to go to college. However, deciding which college to go to is a seemingly impossible decision. Not only do I have to figure out which collegeis the best academic fit, but I also decide which track program suites me best. There are a lot of different factors to consider, and after looking into many schools, I have my choices narrowed down to the OhioState University or the University of Akron. If I had to make my decision right now, with all the information I have about the University of Akron and the Ohio State University, I would have to go with Akron. When considering colleges, the cost of tuition tends to be the elephant in the room. It s no secret that a higher education comes at a great cost. If students aren t careful, they can find themselves drowning in student loans for many years after they graduate. Applying for scholarships and financial aid are great ways to lessen and manage this debt. Fortunately for me, I have the opportunity to go to Akron without paying a penny. The full ride that they re offering me for tack is a huge factor to think about when deciding which college I want to go to. Ohio State, on the other hand, has not offered me any scholarships to this date. I m waiting to go on my official visit to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. A Comprehensive Assessment Of Economic Inequality And... Martin Gilens provides a comprehensive assessment of the economic inequality and political power in America. He explores on how the affluence of politicians influences the political setting of the country. According to the author, political equality is considered as the philosophy of democracy. Due to the inequalities that exist among the citizens regarding information, social and political affairs, it would be impractical to anticipate equal influence over policymaking. Nature and the degree of representative inequalities depict the extent of democracy in a particular society. The author points out that when the inequalities in the political influence intensify, democracy shifts into oligarchy, whereby the wealthy few rule the society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article pinpoints the fact that it is difficult to disentangle the personal preferences of the Congressional members from influences that could affect their behaviors in decision making. There is no reliable technique of measuring the personal preferences of the representatives that are unaffected by the demands presented by their constituents. Various scholars who have analyzed this scenario have made efforts to assess the roles that are played by individual preferences through identifying some individual characteristics that are related to the interests and preferences of the representative. For instance, the personal wealth of the member might be linked with their economic policy preferences, and the use of tobacco by the member may be linked to their tobacco legislation preferences. Gilens also carried research on the professional histories of the representatives before their entrance to the Congress. Unlike the previous assessment that the author had carried out about the economic status, he found out that the histories of the members are related to their Congressional voting records. Gilens also finds significant differences between the representatives and most of the conformist professions. The author attributes the differences to the types of districts or the states that the authors were elected from instead of any independent influence of their professional backgrounds. • 42. Persecution Of The Puritans During the late 16th and 17th centuries, the Puritans, or sometimes referred to as precisionists , were members of a religious reform who cast away the religious ideals of the Church of England under Queen Elizabeth s rule. The Puritans planned to regulate a different way to worship, along with censorious moral beliefs, often disregarding the beliefs of the entire English nation in order to instill their own, leading to their persecution. A blog dated 2008 on the topic of the Puritan persecution states: They were forced out because they wanted to reform human civilization through religion, to wipe out poverty, and to make a heaven on Earth in which everyone was free to discover God s will for themselves . It is evident that the Puritans, who believed in a more Protestant variation of the Anglican Church, were persecuted and fled, but the exact reasons for this are often disputed. The most popular trail of thought is that due to the backlash they received, the Puritans could not be maintained and thus escaped. Other people are entertained by the thought that the Puritans had been banished but in result, had only a sole thought in mind to reform human civilization through religion somewhere else, as stated in the blog above.... In a socioeconomic standpoint, the passage of the bill encourages some financial relief for the families with disabled members as they are vulnerable to various disparities. However, people with disabilities still continue to experience an array of disadvantages, whether in economic, health, and social outcomes, including food security (Brucker, 2016). In the ethical political perspective, the bill protects the fundamental right of people with disability to be able to function and participate independently as much as they can, as well as protecting their rights to participate in a research and be accurately presented (Durham, Brolan, Mukandi, 2014). • 44. Peter Singer Analysis Poverty and hunger is a common social issue that affects a large percentage of the world population, and has troubled nations all over the world for thousands of years. It s an issue that we can experience every day without realizing it. We might see a commercial asking for donations on television, or a homeless woman asking for money to feed her son at the bus stop, or in the news when they talk about children dying of starvation. Now, this issue brings out a particular question; are we obligated to donate and help those in need? Do we have a moral obligation to do so? Or is helping those in need morally optional? Peter Singer and Jan Narveson both discuss this issue, yet both have very different opinions. Peter in one hand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believes helping those in need, and giving donation, is completely optional. Opposed to Peter s belief, Jan indicated that there is a distinction from not preventing something bad from happening, than actually making it happen. For example, If I was to lock you in a room and let you starve to death, I have consiensly murder you. But if someone else was to do the same thing to you, you would have died of starvation. The outcome was not intended by my actions. If was to know that you were starving, I might feel pity for you and would want to help you, or pehaps I would feel indifferent to what you are going thought, either way, my previous activities did not cause your outcome, therefore I may choose if I want to help you or not. Jan also indicates that there is a difference between justice and charity. Justice are those actions that we are enforced to do. Charity is not. Charity is voluntarily wanting to help and benefit those less fortunate. It is sometimes morally allowed to force someone to fulfill their justice duties, but it is not morally allowed to force someone to be charitable. Charity is something you do because you want to, and perhaps there is emotion behind that action. If we force people to be charitable, it will no longer be charity, but ... Though the 1935 convention was never formally adopted it was of great significance because of the issues it dealt with. The 1935 draft adopted the principle of income attributable to a permanent establishment based on separate accounting. Interestingly, it provided two more methods a) empirical method (percentage of turnover for example) b) fractional apportionment under which net business income was determined by various factors. Further, the 1935 model provided for all items of income other than those allocable to specific sources to be grouped together as business income and rendered taxable on a net basis. Abstract: Polycarbonate, which is a polymer plastic, is found in many bottles and food packaging around the world. However, because Bisphenol A is used in the processing of it, there is a potential danger to humans. Bisphenol A is a molecule that is a hormone inhibitor and also mirrors the function of estrogen. Although the EPA has released a safe level for Bisphenol Aingestion, recent research has shown that those levels may not be safe for humans. Until further testing is done, scientists aren t certain of the threshold of BPA intake in humans before dangerous health effects occur.
