FWA Froebel Essay
Friedrich Wilhelm August Froebel was born on April 21, 1782 in Oberweissbach, Germany, a
small village in the Thuringian Forest. His father was a Lutheran Protestant minister who had a
large congregation and little time for five sons and his mother died when he was nine months old
making his childhood rather traumatic and depressing. These distressing childhood experiences
shaped him into the teacher he would one day become. His upbringing was facilitated by his older
brothers and the servants that ran his father s household but lacked a feminine presence that
Froebel desperately desired. This unfulfilled need of a mothers influence and love would create the
foundation on which Froebel would build his idea and create a special early... Show more content

At the age of ten his mother s brother visited the parsonage and took an interest in young
Friedrich. The admiration was mutual as Friedrich suddenly found himself out of his father s
care and living with his uncle Herr Hoffman. For the next five years Froebel enjoyed a stable and
caring household to grow up in and an excellent education at the local school. At the age of 15 he
found himself again in the care of his father and while staying there, noting his affinity for the
natural sciences, decided he should become an apprentice with a forester where he would learn
forestry, geometry and land surveying in preparation for later becoming an agriculturist.
(Downs 14) The apprenticeship was not as successful as Friedrich might have hoped. His
instructor had learned his craft through years at experience. While his knowledge over his
subject was rather extensive, he was an inadequate teacher who was also absent for long periods
of time. The two years as an apprentice were spent reading books about botany and studying
forest nature. These years spent in reflection and the study of nature founded the educational
theories and practices he would use later in his instructive career. In the summer of 1799, Froebel
was delivering a money parcel to his brother at the University of Jena for his father when he
where he was seized by the stirring of intellectual life of the place, and I

SOLONIA MEETS A FAMILY OF PUPPETEERS
Solonia feels alienated and alone. Not because she is, most of the young students at the college
want to be friends with her. She seems to them the kind of rebel spirit that growing people take
interest in, and even though she is appears taciturn, and at times, downright brutish, this makes
her all the more appealing, for she feels like they do. Besides she is handsome and well poised,
and has that expression of wit, without speaking that makes her peers curious to know her

The Way of The Warrior in The Tale of The Heike Essay
The Way of The Warrior in The Tale of The Heike
Heike Monogatari, with its multitude of battles and skirmishes, provides a wonderful chance to
analyze the way of the warrior in ancient Japan. There aren t a great number of surviving works
from this period that show in such great detail both the brute and the compassion of the Japanese
warriors. They followed carefully a distinct set of principles which made up the well rounded
warrior. Loyalty to one s master, bravery and glory in any situation, strength, martial skills,
compassion, and interest in the arts were all held with the highest esteem. Few warriors could
become well known without possessing each of these skills. Religious beliefs shaped a warrior s
behavior tremendously. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the bow and arrow held special significance performing such rituals, and serving as serving
the warrior as a powerful weapon. During one battle at Katsuura, the Genji warrior Yoichi
Munetaka was chosen to hit a fan that was placed on bow of a Taira warship, beconing any
archer to show his worth by shooting it down. Munetaka, unsure, says, I am not sure I can hit it.
It would be an eternal disgrace to our side if I missed it.(p.367) Ordered by Yoshitsune to fire on
the fan and affraid to refuse, Munetaka closed his eyes in silent prayer. Hail, Great Bodhisattva
Hachiman and ye gods of my province at Nikko, Utsu no miya and Nasu Yuzen! Vouchsafe that I
may hit the center of that fan. If I miss, I will smash my bow and kill myself; I will never show
my face to others again. If it is your will that I return home, keep my arrow from straying. When
he opened his eyes, the wind seemed somewhat gentler, and the fan looked easier to hit. (p.368)
Warriors often conducted such prayers to bring them good luck and safety on the battlefield.
Once the battle commenced, it was proper for skilled warriors to battle opposing warriors of the
same rank one on one. He would step forward and make a proclamation such as this, You must
have heard of me long ago. See me now with your own eyes! Everyone at Miidera knows me! I am

Essay On Putonghua
There has been a long debate on whether Putonghua should be used in teaching Chinese Language
in the society since the Curriculum Development Council has identified Putonghua as the Medium
of Instruction in 1999. However, Cantonese is the mother tongue of the majority of Hong Kong
student for decades. Under this premise, Cantonese should be used instead of Putonghua in teaching
Chinese in Hong Kongsecondary schools to enhance both the quality and efficiency of teaching.
To begin with, using Cantonese as the medium of instruction could probably improve student s
performance on learning classical Chinese. There are several Chinese language learning scholars
proved that Cantonese is an ancient Han language which has a longer history than Putonghua. ...

Cantonese is the mother tongue of the majority of Hong Kong secondary students. It is generally
believed that student feel more confident when they are asked to speak in a language used in their
daily life. In contrast, using Putonghua to teach Chinese may cause learning obstacles. Students
need to learn a new set of pronunciation and usage of words. Both speaking and listening have to be
managed in a language that they are not as familiar as Cantonese. This probably discourage student
from class discussion. Cantonese does not contain these barriers. Therefore student is likely to
focus on deeper levels of language features and improve the teaching effectiveness. According to the
study done by The Standing Committee on Language Education and Research ( SCOLAR ), there
is no clear evidence or statistic can prove that using Putonghua as the medium of instruction can
enhance teaching efficiency (Chan, 2015) . Besides, the adoption of using Putonghua to teach
Chinese language certainly do not match the current exanimating syllabus. The oral and listening
exams are carried out in Cantonese in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education
Examination (DSE). Even if the schools use Putonghua as the main medium of instruction in
common lessons, they have to switch back to Cantonese when students practicing past papers. This
is apparently inefficient to provide education for one single

How is Virtual Reality Succeeding Where 3D TV Failed
For all of those who thought that VRs were just good for gaming, you are absolutely wrong.

The 3D TVs death
The release of the 2009 movie, The Avatar has irked television manufacturers to join in the

3D glasses can cost as much as $100 a pair. So, how would a family of four enjoy watching together
if there were only 2 pairs of 3D glasses? Buy another pair? It is another unnecessary purchase.
You think that it stops with the cost of the 3D glasses? Think again! To be able to access a true
3D viewing experience, consumers needed to invest in a 3D enable Blu ray Disc player or lead a
new 3D enabled cable or satellite box.
Furthermore, if you wish to watch movies online, you needed to make sure that your new 3DTV
was compatible with an internet service that offered 3D streaming content. The same goes for
those who had a home theater setup where video signals were routed through a home theater
receiver which required the new receiver to be compatible with 3D video signals from any

Shark Adaptations
Members of the class Chondrichthyes, subclass Elasmobranchii, have been around since the
Devonian period millions of years ago. Most notable of this group of organisms is the shark.
Known for its dangerous appearance, sharks have made many adaptations to survive in aquatic
environments. The marine environment can be extremely dangerous and difficult to survive in.
Sharks are faced with many challenges due to this sort of habitat, especially in regards to oxygen.
Oxygen levels in aquatic environments are very low. As sharks need oxygen to survive, they have
many features to help them adapt. Due to a lack of muscle in the mouth and gill area, they must be

As there is more salt in the ocean than in the shark itself, the physiological structures of a shark
need to prevent the water in the cells from osmotically leaving. One such structure is the rectal
gland, which secretes a fluid containing sodium chloride. It also helps the opisthonephric kidney
regulate the blood s salt concentration. Another important physiological element to regulate salt
concentration are extracellular nitrogen compounds. One of the most important nitrogen
compounds are urea. Produced in the liver with extra amino acids, urea combines with the blood to

I must admit that before I began taking this class I took for granted how much racism still exists
in this country. I have started to put more thought in to the way the world really is, the topics
discussed in class have started to catch my interest. When I first started reading the Tatum book
I was mad when I read her version of the word racism . I thought to my self I personally have
never held down the black race, what does she mean? As I progressed in the book I was starting
to understand what she meant about the system of advantages that white people are given. I also
understood this better when I read Elizabeth Munich s list of examples of how there are advantages

This is another reason why it is hard for me to discuss race openly. Then of course there is
influence by our peers that can help or hurt our beliefs.
As far as the scientific work on race is concerned I believe that the majority of the scientists had
strong racist opinions and feelings before they even started thier research. All of the scientists who
wrote the articles in reprint #1 appear to be white and have benefited from the racist society to
get into their position in the first place, so why would it be logical for them to publish anything
good about minorities that would affairs when people like this who have the power to teach use
their power to spread a threaten this system of advantages that they have thrived on. These are
the reasons why I think these people could try and pass this stuff of as scientific research. It is a
sad state of racist message. These scientists were respected and I m sure their word was taken
literally by the general public. These men used their positions to spread their racist views in my
opinion.
The main points that I have learned from my readings is that the society we live in today is not
what it is cracked up to be. Minorities are constantly being taken advantage of and discriminated
against. Until this system is changed or at least acknowledged by the majority of people living here
these problems will remain.
From what I have read and seen in my life the relations between whites and minority groups has

an ideal pioneer production at a performance located in the Writers Theatre s new home,
specifically the UT Center for Performing Arts Centre theatre on 11th of March back in 2017, at

There are three main themes depicted in the Arcadia play, among them; Emotion versus Intellect.
Arcadia outlines two sorts of knowledge, the academic knowledge and the sex based knowledge,
which have been displayed as in constant conflict in the entire text. The intellectual sex justification
and marriage proposition have been termed as the main factors that create resolution between the
existing forces. The initial pages of the play put focus on the theme of love verses intellect.

Developing A World Class Education System
Regional Context
Producing a world class education system to strengthen human capital and to produce the skills
necessary for the citizenry, was a goal which drove Jamaica s initiatives as they continue to strive
to build strength to compete in the global economy (Davis, 2004). According to Davis (2004) to
achieve this goal the Jamaican authorities formulated a task force to assess and propose the way
forward in education in their country. From the assessment, the task force suggested a number of
recommendations, one of which was the implementation of a seamless K to 12 system. This
recommendation was categorized to specifically address the issue of chronic under achievement

One of the main international bodies that has championed the fight for equal rights for persons with
disabilities and has caused Trinidad and Tobago to embark on ambitious educational reform
initiatives is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
One of their initial benchmark in their fight for equal rights began with the Universal Declaration

Trinidad and Tobago in December 1991, includes items such as principle 5 and to a lesser extent
principle 10 referring to the protection, treatment and provisions of children including those with

Trinidad and Tobago is also a signatory to the Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities,

create a sense of policy change due to the new president aspiring to accomplish one thing different

president. The campaigning candidates usually listen to their respective public opinion, thus
promising certain things in order to get them elected. If the elected president fulfills the wishes of

Origins of The Walking Dead
For my ethnography project, I chose to study the fandom of The Walking Dead. For the purpose
of this paper, I will refer to The Walking Dead as a comic, a video game, and a TV show series.
The focus of this ethnography is to understand how the comic book culture influences many fans.
Since the series is based on a graphic novel series, and some of the fans are schooled in comic
culture; they arrive with literacy in comic storytelling. Others who are not fans may recognize the
visually and narrative of zombie films, in the horror genre after 1968 s Night of the Living Dead
and Dawn of the Dead. Yet many Walking Dead fans appear to have migrated to the zombie tale
without any particular connection to the comic book storytelling, or significant fascination, and the
series fandom illuminates how an apocalyptic imagination has expanded into popular culture.
The Walking Dead fandom has changed by geek standard. The Walking Dead has nearly all the

God s Omnipotence
Some people refer God as the Omnipotent, that is to say a being that has unlimited power, and is
able to do everything. God has four different attributes, he is omniscient, simple, eternal and
omnipotent. The latter raises some difficulties, and paradoxes. In a first part I will show how
omnipotence can be defined differently, how radical omnipotence differs with limited omnipotence
and the issue with logic. Then I will show how Gods omnipotence raises some paradoxes and
contradictions, by relying on the paradox of the stone and the problem of evil. Finally I will try
to answer some questions concerning God s ability to sin, to bring about the past, and to do things
not done by him. Does God s powers have a limit, could it then be... Show more content on

(Mackie, 1955)The claim that evil is necessary as a counterpart to good (Mackie, 1955, p.203) errs,
indeed we can again assert that as God made the laws of logic it would be possible for only good to
exist in the world.
Nevertheless the existence of evil in the world is required to prove what good really is. Without evil,
everything, every actions are considered good. But if good is everywhere, it becomes difficult
to measure it, and we cannot compare it with other actions. To be good is to possess and display
moral virtue, but how can we do that if evil does not exist ? Good has to be opposed to evil, for it
to exist. It then does not distract it with God s omnipotence. Mackie (1955) reckons that first
order evil such as pain and misery contrasts with first order good pleasure and happiness .
Moreover a second order good such as sympathy can only exist if there is a second order evil
suffering , similarly with heroism in facing danger (Mackie, 1955, p.206). But according to
Mackie this claim fails, in fact the second order evil that is cowardice or cruelty (Mackie, 1955,
p.207) is rising as much as another second order good. And if God were omnipotent and morally
good he would try and eliminate those evils.
Regarding evil and omnipotence many philosophers have taken the position that human have
freewill and are independent of God. And that

How Does John Stuart Mill Achieve Happiness
Have you been your true, happy self lately? Finding happiness is one of the most challenging
things to do, and just saying that you are happy can be a total lie. Happiness is something you
have to find, and it will eventually some to you even if you aren t in search of happiness. I agree
with John Stuart Mill because he states that you can achieve happiness if you do what you love, and
to just let happiness come to you rather than chasing it.
John Stuart Mill was an English philosopher, political economist, feminist, and civil servant. He
became known as one of the most influential thinkers in the history of liberalism, and he contributed
widely to social theory. John Stuart Mill was also one of Thomas Carlyle s sometime friend and

John Stuart mill states that you can achieve happiness by helping people out even if they are a
total stranger. From my personal experience, self interrogation can be the thief of happiness
because whenever I fail at something I blame myself, and that takes me further away from
achieving my goal of happiness. If you blame yourself for everything and don t view your
failures as mistakes that you can learn from than you will never achieve happiness. You can t
ever truly be happy until you love yourself and view yourself as a worthy person of achieving
happiness. Happiness will eventually come to you if you are happy with yourself, and if you are
never capable of accepting yourself then you can say goodbye to happiness. I have learned to
accept myself for who I am because I see myself as one of a kind, and I can t change who I am. If I
mope around then I won t live life to the fullest, so you have to understand that you can t change
who you are.
Many people have different ideas on how people can achieve happiness, and today happiness is
viewed in many different ways. People may disagree with John Stuart Mill because everyone has
their own ideas and thinks in their own way. Those who disagree may believe that happiness is
something that you have to get yourself, and that happiness just magically doesn t come to you and
that you have to chase happiness if you want to be happy. Many people including myself try to
force happiness,

The Potential Growth Of Companies
Our purpose is to find the potential growth of companies in both the large cap and small mid cap
category of biotechnology industry.
Therefore, we selected two mature companies and two companies that are in development stage.
Our choices mainly base on the companies pipeline because biotechnology companies lives or dies
depending on their pipeline, level of expertise and network of partners/distributors they have. For
mature companies, we looked at their financial strength, the source of financing they have to fund
their research and development, as well as their products breadth in the pipeline. We prefer mature
companies with dominating market shares and are focusing on common diseases, cancer or heart
diseases. For that reason, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

WASP Stereotypes Of Southern Italian Immigrants
The United States was and is widely known as a melting pot . Common belief holds that America
welcomed hopeful immigrants from overseas, and provided them with opportunities that would
give them better lives for themselves and their families. While such a statement is technically true
in general, the issues in regards to prejudice and racism, is where the metaphor weakens for
America as a beacon of hope for immigrants. Many people today believe that Americans have
always embraced and encouraged the melting potconcept. However, WASP stereotypes of
immigrants were the driving force behind the quality of treatment received by immigrant groups. It

They even created shrines within their homes for particular Saints, so they could pray properly in
absence of a church. The church and government gave the Southern Italians deep trust issues when
it comes to institutions and people outside of their family and village. The family became the most
important institution in Southern Italy, and this belief carried over with them to The United States.
The WASPs viewed the Southern Italians opposition to religious institutions as disrespectful and
anti religious. In the eyes of WASPs, the Southern Italians antagonistic attitude towards church was
worse than the fact that they were Catholics. A difference in religion was cause for dislike, but an
absence of religious practices, or so they thought, was immoral.
One of the biggest stereotypes depicting Southern Italians as immoral is the idea that they are all
affiliated with the Mafia. This WASP belief was formed based on a .0025% of truth. An extremely
small population of the Southern Italians engaged in organized crime. However, WASPs believed
that all organized crime was run by Italians, and that all Southern Italians were involved or
connected with the crimes in some way. The Italian way of closeness of family and exclusiveness
of anyone who was not family, helped confirm the WASPs theory of intertwined

Essay on Racism and White Privilege in the Education System
Many people in the United States society believe that people of all cultures, races, and ethnicities
are now on an even playing field. People with this belief support their logic with the argument
that since equal rights for people of color and women have been required by law for some time
now, we are all inherently as equal as claimed in the Declaration of Independence. Many believe
that raceis no longer an issue, a viewpoint frequently referred to as color blindness. National
polling data indicated that a majority of whites now believe discrimination against racial
minorities no longer exists. (Gallagher, 96) Color blindness allows a white person to define
himself or herself as politically and racially tolerant and then proclaim their... Show more content on

By associating the potential existence of racism with consumption, a form of rationalization is that
we now live in society that does not recognize and reward race, but merit. In turn, whites do not
inherently realize the privileges that they are born with. Peggy McIntosh actually used the terms
unearned entitlement and unearned advantage to describe disproportionate lead that whites have
over blacks (McIntosh, 103). The fact of the matter is that most white people are in denial that they
have been born with unearned entitlements that minorities do not have and according to McIntosh
this is because they have been taught not to recognize it. As much as white people have been
taught not to recognize that they have been given white privilege, blacks and minorities recognize
that they do. Although many believe that the playing field is now level, is apparent that there is an
uphill struggle for people of color. But how should one first recognize this struggle?
The first step is to separate what one believes from that one knows, and to separate what is from
what must be. (Hinchey, 5) By doing this, one is able to begin to deconstruct the assumptions about
the system in which we operate, which allows the individual to see the system as custom instead of
irrefutable law. The next step in critical theory is

presenting a hidden message. A story in literature, for example, may function as a didactic medium.
A didactic medium is a means of teaching the reader something materially useful. In the short story,
The Jewelry by Guy de Maupassant, there is a didactic medium that Maupassant portrays. The
didactic medium in this short storyis always pay attention to minor details. The details may seem
unimportant, however they can result in a greater outcome. In the story, M. Lantin and his wife

Interior. Madame Lantin takes care of all the furnishing and household needs. After the passing of
his wife, M. Lantin stands dumbfounded at how she affords such necessities when he can barely
sustain himself as illustrated by the statement, But life became hard for him. His salary, which, in
his wife s hands, had amply sufficed for all household needs, now proved scarcely sufficient to
supply his own few wants (page 53). This quote shows that M. Lantin struggles financially without
the assistance of his wife. This is one of the details within the story that hints at Madame Lantin
receiving money from an unknown source. Furthermore, Madame Lantin has an eye for jewelry
even though she states the pieces are not real. She loves to wear an elegant pearl necklace, pebble

How Are Hector And Achilles Alike
Achilles and Hector are similar in a few ways but are different in many more. Both men are
renowned warriors and some of the best fighters for their sides. And unfortunately, both men are
fated to die. Both men are human, although only barely in Achilles s case, who can only be
wounded if hit in a small spot on his heel. But despite these few similarities, Achillesand Hectorare
more different than they are alike. Achilles let s himself be ruled by his emotions while Hector has
a more steady and calm temperament. Hector has a wife and a son and is capable of showing love
towards others, Achilles on the other hand only speaks to his mother when he needs something:
revenge, or armor. One drastic difference between the two men is an unfortunate character flaw that
Achilles portrays constantly: anger. In fact the first sentence of the Iliadclearly states that it is the
story of Achilles s anger. Sing, goddess, the anger of Peleus son Achilles and it s devastation. (I, 1
2) Throughout the story you continuously see the products of his rage. He refuses to fight for
Agamemnon because of the stealing of Breisis, and instead invokes the power of Zeus so that the
Greeks will lose against the Trojans until his (Achilles s) honor has been restored. If perhaps he
(Zeus) might be willing to help the Trojans, and pin the Achaians against the ships and the water,

Characteristics Of The Carolingian Empire
In the eyes of Pepin III the Short, his reasoning behind him usurping the Merovingian throne was
simple: power in all ways except symbolically was in his hands. Backed by the pope, military
success and ambition, he overthrew Childeric III to claim his singular rule over the Franks,
marking the end of the Merovingian empire and the birth of Carolingian rule. With this history,
the Carolingian mindset was set: if you were superior to that of who was in power, you deserved
to be the singular ruler. In a sense, the Carolingians took this mindset into all reaches of life,
including the development of a style of writingthat would reign supreme and exert its influence into
the modern era. This style of writing, later named Carolingian minuscule, would not only dominate
over other styles of writing, but would give a greater incentive to protect truth and beauty, all while
combining culture and language within a script.
Prior to the rise of Carolingian minuscule, the empire and those surrounding it each had a unique
style of writing, with scribes taking their own liberty in how to write within those styles, creating an
insurmountable amount of variations. Within the Carolingian empire, Latin had a very strong
influence on classic works, especially those from Rome and Greece, so typically, the Latin that
was idolized was distorted by a plethora of writing styles, many of which were confusing (Aherne
159). In the land that the Carolingians initially ruled over, the script of

Land of the Free, Unless You Are a Tree
Land of the Free, Unless You are a Tree America has always been a land of opportunity, where a
man can cater to the market and make a fortune. None such example is better than the logging
industry. In the book A Walk in the Woods , writer Bill Bryson examines the impact logging has on
tree population of not only the Appalachian Trail (where the story takes place), but throughout the
United States. He contributes a mass amount of the damage to the loggingindustry s over logging
and the mass deforesting to create the roads to the logging sites. As I read the book I became
more and more interested in the effects of logging, so I made it my goal was to find to what extent
the logging industry and National Forest Services have contributed to deforestationin the U.S. My
first article was a research piece done by the University of Michigan posted in lecture format on
the web. The most prevalent fixture in the piece was that Since 1600, 90% of the virgin forests
that once covered much of the lower 48 states have been cleared away. (Global Deforestation) The
writer contributes the mass amount of this clearing to the heavy logging and western expansion of
the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. Although there has been recent movements of reforestation that has
slowed the pace of logging, this article helped me see that the National Forest Service has
seemingly been doing everything it can to not protect the national forests. I found my second article

its fishermen, so H. Elroy Johnson, a resident of Maine who trapped lobsters for a living, was

because he truly represented his home state of Maine only. When developing a monument, its

Genetically Modified Organisms Transgenics and Biopharming In today s world, the need for
more efficient and better quality foods grows greater. The population on earth is thought to

biotechnology is used to modify foods. The reason why foods are genetically modified is to
produce better quality food which can also fight off pests, insects, weeds and diseases. Not only
can you insert genes to induce these effects, you can also insert genes to produce medicines which

Systolic and Diastolic Heart Failure
The pathophysiolgy underlying heart failure has evolved significantly over time. The heart may be
visualised as a pump, consisting of four chambers divided into atria and ventricles further divided
into right and left hemispheres.(14) Deoxygenated blood from peripheral tissues is supplied through
the right atria/ventricle to the lungs where oxygenation through membranous perfusion occurs.
Oxygenated blood returns through the pulmonary veins into the left atria/ventricle where it is
supplied to the systemic/coronary circulation. This process occurs in two phases; systole and
diastole. (14)
Heart failure may affect either the systolic or diastolic phase of the cardiac cycle. Alternatively,
both phases may be involved. Conceptually it is useful to view this heterogenous condition as a
progressive disorder that has an initiating or index event where damage is inflicted on the cardiac
myocytes.(15) The index event can be acute, such as may be the case in myocardial infarct, or
chronic due to haemodynamic pressure or volume overloading. Regardless of the mechanism of
injury a decline in pump function is the result. The initial insult will be compensated for in the
acute phase by activation of a complex sequence of neurohormonal changes which are recognised
to play a pivotal role in the development and progression of heart failure.(15) Whilst

However, one does not find myth in contemporary times rather it is a subject of the past of which
no one is a witness. These mythical tales have been passed down through generations never actually
knowing the origin of its creation. Myth usually has connotations of falsehood, unreasonable,
irrationality which makes the stories and the past related to it a mere lie or fiction. But if myth is
fictitious, then how could it serve the purpose of educating the masses about moral values and
ethics? During the 20th century, many researchers started coming up with their views on the
rationality of mythological stories. The revised definition of myth said that myth is the... Show more

The part of the intense father is filled in the hero Winston s creative energy by the anticipated
picture of Big Brother, toward whom the anecdotal legend feels capable inner conflict. The
dehumanizing engulfment of both id and personality by the superego as the last determination of
this inner conflict is recommended toward the end of the novel, by Winston s failure to take care

Ghana Middle Passage
1. Ghana, Mali, Songhai
The Kingdom of Ghana was the first of the great trading kingdoms that made iron which gave them
an advantage against other groups in West Africa whom the conquered. The Kingdom of Ghana
was at the center of African trade routes and the Ghana grew rich by taxing the traders and thus
creating a great empire.
A second great kingdom of Africawas the Kingdom of Mali. It was twice the size of the Kingdom
of Ghana. Mali had captured the gold producing areas and brought the trade of gold and salt to
the area. Like Ghana before it, Mali became rich and powerful. However, unlike Ghana (which did
not accept Islam), the Kingdom of Mali acceptance of Islam give them closer ties to the cities of

Marita s Bargain Short Story
What changes take place that can actually make a one of a big difference to improve the success
of students. A change that can help many students in many ways that later on the future there is
going to be a big change and improvement on their lives. The change that has to happen now to be
able to have a betterlife and a easy path in life is to have a better support of motivation so the
students can acutely wantto learn and be in school. In the story of Marita s Bargain explains how
Everyone says that KPP is hard, but once you get the hang of it, it s not really that hard. In the
story Marita s is a young girl who got the chance to be in a program name KPP where school was
really challenging for her not only because she is a young girl but becuase she and her family do
not have the benefits of being wealthy, so just with a chance even though she has to wake up
really early and be up all day in school after all you will eventually be use to it and it s going to
be really easy at the end of the day. After all In return, KIPP promises that it will take kids like
her who are stuck in poverty and give them a chance to get out. KPP is a one great program who
prepare young kids for that later in the future they will have something good out of it. And with the
motivations that they get makes them want to do their homeworks and not make them not go to
school. These changes in Anaheim High Schoolwill sure make a one of a big difference and the
results are going to be really big with the students and a whole big amount of students are really
going to want to go to school and do good with the motivation and later on in the future a bigger
chance of change is going to be seen.
A difference is one of a big side of not being the same way as someone or something. Intelligence
is not known as to how students are viewed or seem to be smart. One of a big problem here in
school is how teachers only see that the smart kid is not struggling and the non smart kid is
actually struggling and when the teacher asks the class if they are doing fine if they need help
only half of the kids that somewhat get what they are doing say yes and the kids that have no idea
of what they re doing on their first try they do the job and

Why do we observe and assess
Children are observed in order to acquire information regarding learning unlikely to be seen
through testing. Clark and Moss (2001 in ST9), for example, suggest that observation helps to build
a complete picture of a child. From a sociocultural perspective, teachers who subsequently adapt
practice, following analysis of observation, ensure opportunities are provided for children to link
new experiences to previous learning, therefore working within the child s zone of proximal
development . Throughout observation it is important that no preconceived judgements are held.
Pollard (2008 in ST6) suggests that observations should be descriptive, dispassionate, discerning
and diagnostic, thus meaning observations will be objective . School staff will often use

His father was a Lutheran Protestant minister who had a large congregation and little time for five sons and his mother died when he was nine months old making his childhood rather traumatic and depressing. These distressing childhood experiences shaped him into the teacher he would one day become. His upbringing was facilitated by his older brothers and the servants that ran his father s household but lacked a feminine presence that Froebel desperately desired. At the age of ten his mother s brother visited the parsonage and took an interest in young Friedrich. The admiration was mutual as Friedrich suddenly found himself out of his father s care and living with his uncle Herr Hoffman. For the next five years Froebel enjoyed a stable and caring household to grow up in and an excellent education at the local school. At the age of 15 he found himself again in the care of his father and while staying there, noting his affinity for the natural sciences, decided he should become an apprentice with a forester where he would learn forestry, geometry and land surveying in preparation for later becoming an agriculturist. (Downs 14) The apprenticeship was not as successful as Friedrich might have hoped. His instructor had learned his craft through years at experience. While his knowledge over his subject was rather extensive, he was an inadequate teacher who was also absent for long periods of time. The two years as an apprentice were spent reading books about botany and studying forest nature. These years spent in reflection and the study of nature founded the educational theories and practices he would use later in his instructive career. In the summer of 1799, Froebel was delivering a money parcel to his brother at the University of Jena for his father when he where he was seized by the stirring of intellectual life of the place, and I ... The Way of The Warrior in The Tale of The Heike Essay The Way of The Warrior in The Tale of The Heike Heike Monogatari, with its multitude of battles and skirmishes, provides a wonderful chance to analyze the way of the warrior in ancient Japan. There aren t a great number of surviving works from this period that show in such great detail both the brute and the compassion of the Japanese warriors. They followed carefully a distinct set of principles which made up the well rounded warrior. Munetaka, unsure, says, I am not sure I can hit it. It would be an eternal disgrace to our side if I missed it.(p.367) Ordered by Yoshitsune to fire on the fan and affraid to refuse, Munetaka closed his eyes in silent prayer. • 7. Essay On Putonghua There has been a long debate on whether Putonghua should be used in teaching Chinese Language in the society since the Curriculum Development Council has identified Putonghua as the Medium of Instruction in 1999. However, Cantonese is the mother tongue of the majority of Hong Kong student for decades. Under this premise, Cantonese should be used instead of Putonghua in teaching Chinese in Hong Kongsecondary schools to enhance both the quality and efficiency of teaching. To begin with, using Cantonese as the medium of instruction could probably improve student s performance on learning classical Chinese. Cantonese is the mother tongue of the majority of Hong Kong secondary students. It is generally believed that student feel more confident when they are asked to speak in a language used in their daily life. In contrast, using Putonghua to teach Chinese may cause learning obstacles. Students need to learn a new set of pronunciation and usage of words. Both speaking and listening have to be managed in a language that they are not as familiar as Cantonese. This probably discourage student from class discussion. Cantonese does not contain these barriers. Therefore student is likely to focus on deeper levels of language features and improve the teaching effectiveness. According to the study done by The Standing Committee on Language Education and Research ( SCOLAR ), there is no clear evidence or statistic can prove that using Putonghua as the medium of instruction can enhance teaching efficiency (Chan, 2015) . Besides, the adoption of using Putonghua to teach Chinese language certainly do not match the current exanimating syllabus. The oral and listening exams are carried out in Cantonese in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE). Nevertheless the existence of evil in the world is required to prove what good really is. Without evil, everything, every actions are considered good. But if good is everywhere, it becomes difficult to measure it, and we cannot compare it with other actions. To be good is to possess and display moral virtue, but how can we do that if evil does not exist ? Good has to be opposed to evil, for it to exist. It then does not distract it with God s omnipotence. Mackie (1955) reckons that first order evil such as pain and misery contrasts with first order good pleasure and happiness . Moreover a second order good such as sympathy can only exist if there is a second order evil suffering , similarly with heroism in facing danger (Mackie, 1955, p.206). But according to Mackie this claim fails, in fact the second order evil that is cowardice or cruelty (Mackie, 1955, p.207) is rising as much as another second order good. And if God were omnipotent and morally good he would try and eliminate those evils. The fact of the matter is that most white people are in denial that they have been born with unearned entitlements that minorities do not have and according to McIntosh this is because they have been taught not to recognize it. Although many believe that the playing field is now level, is apparent that there is an uphill struggle for people of color. But how should one first recognize this struggle? Characteristics Of The Carolingian Empire In the eyes of Pepin III the Short, his reasoning behind him usurping the Merovingian throne was simple: power in all ways except symbolically was in his hands. Backed by the pope, military success and ambition, he overthrew Childeric III to claim his singular rule over the Franks, marking the end of the Merovingian empire and the birth of Carolingian rule. With this history, the Carolingian mindset was set: if you were superior to that of who was in power, you deserved to be the singular ruler. In a sense, the Carolingians took this mindset into all reaches of life, including the development of a style of writingthat would reign supreme and exert its influence into the modern era. This style of writing, later named Carolingian minuscule, would not only dominate over other styles of writing, but would give a greater incentive to protect truth and beauty, all while combining culture and language within a script. Prior to the rise of Carolingian minuscule, the empire and those surrounding it each had a unique style of writing, with scribes taking their own liberty in how to write within those styles, creating an insurmountable amount of variations. Within the Carolingian empire, Latin had a very strong influence on classic works, especially those from Rome and Greece, so typically, the Latin that was idolized was distorted by a plethora of writing styles, many of which were confusing (Aherne 159). None such example is better than the logging industry. In the book A Walk in the Woods , writer Bill Bryson examines the impact logging has on tree population of not only the Appalachian Trail (where the story takes place), but throughout the United States. He contributes a mass amount of the damage to the loggingindustry s over logging and the mass deforesting to create the roads to the logging sites. As I read the book I became more and more interested in the effects of logging, so I made it my goal was to find to what extent the logging industry and National Forest Services have contributed to deforestationin the U.S. My first article was a research piece done by the University of Michigan posted in lecture format on the web. The most prevalent fixture in the piece was that Since 1600, 90% of the virgin forests that once covered much of the lower 48 states have been cleared away. (Global Deforestation) The writer contributes the mass amount of this clearing to the heavy logging and western expansion of the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. Although there has been recent movements of reforestation that has slowed the pace of logging, this article helped me see that the National Forest Service has seemingly been doing everything it can to not protect the national forests. The population on earth is thought to increase to nine billion by the year 2050. To support this population, the application of biotechnology is used to modify foods. The reason why foods are genetically modified is to produce better quality food which can also fight off pests, insects, weeds and diseases. Not only can you insert genes to induce these effects, you can also insert genes to produce medicines which is called biopharming. Systolic and Diastolic Heart Failure The pathophysiolgy underlying heart failure has evolved significantly over time. The heart may be visualised as a pump, consisting of four chambers divided into atria and ventricles further divided into right and left hemispheres.(14) Deoxygenated blood from peripheral tissues is supplied through the right atria/ventricle to the lungs where oxygenation through membranous perfusion occurs. Oxygenated blood returns through the pulmonary veins into the left atria/ventricle where it is supplied to the systemic/coronary circulation. This process occurs in two phases; systole and diastole. (14) Heart failure may affect either the systolic or diastolic phase of the cardiac cycle. Alternatively, both phases may be involved. Conceptually it is useful to view this heterogenous condition as a progressive disorder that has an initiating or index event where damage is inflicted on the cardiac myocytes.(15) The index event can be acute, such as may be the case in myocardial infarct, or chronic due to haemodynamic pressure or volume overloading. Regardless of the mechanism of injury a decline in pump function is the result. The initial insult will be compensated for in the acute phase by activation of a complex sequence of neurohormonal changes which are recognised to play a pivotal role in the development and progression of heart failure.(15) Whilst ...
