Why I Want To Be Free
When Clayton graduated from high school, he decided that he would go out of state to Union
College, a private school in Kentucky. According to CollegeBoard, the estimated total of tuition
and fees for Union College is $24,075. Although, he received a partial scholarship to participate
in track, he is already in debt. He has two jobs. He works on campus in the school s kitchen. When
he comes home on weekends, he works with his dad to make money. Even with his partial
scholarship and working two jobs, he, who has been in collegeone full year, is already $10,000 in
debt from college loans and parent loans. After four years, he will be approximately $40,000 in
debt; therefore college should be free. Clayton wants to be a sports trainer. According to the
website salarybystate.org, an athletic trainer in Indiana will make $40,000 per year. He will never
be able to fully pay off his student loans if he only makes $40,000 a year after college. Especially if

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said In a global economy, when our young
people are competing with workers from around the world, we have got to have the best
educated workforce possible. And, that means that we have got to make college affordable.
With hundred and thousands of young people not being able to afford going to college, our
nation will not be able to have the best educated workforce in the world. In Finland, Denmark,
Ireland, Iceland, Norway,Sweden, Mexico, and parts of Germany, public colleges and universities
are tuition free. According to the website washingtonpost.com, that is why more than 4,600
students each year leave the United States and enroll in German universities. If we America want
to have the best workforce in the world, we will have to make college free. If not we will fall
behind other countries and we will not be able to catch back

The Electronic Medical Record ( Emr )
Meaningful Use and its Development The electronic medical record (EMR) is the replacement of
paper manual charts and is being used all across the country. As per Hebda and Czar (2013), the
EMR is the building block of the electronic health record (EHR), which can be defined as a
longitudinal record that includes client data, demographics, clinician notes, medications, diagnostic
findings, and other essential healthcare information (p.293). The widespread use of EHR s in
America is foreseeable and inevitably unavoidable, but by no means a simple and undoubtedly an
effortless task to achieve. In an attempt to reduce costs in the introduction, conversion, and
implementation of patient health records the government has provided regulations for meaningful
use (MU) (p.280). In the attempt to improve the safety and quality of the nation s healthcare
system, the government enacted the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical
Health (HITECH) Act. The HITECH Act is part of the American Reinvestment Recovery Act
(ARRA), enacted on February 17, 2009, which includes many measures intended to modernize the
nation s infrastructure (cdc.gov.). The HITECH Act, encourages the use of EHR s meaningful use
in order to reduce the redundancy of data entry with integration and interoperability. Centers for
Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS ) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT
(ONC) consider meaningful use of interoperable electronic health records

Dangers Of Being A Police Officer
When one is thinking about a career in law enforcement there is a lot to consider. The job can be
stressful and come with a lot of dangerous situation. Being a police officer can be a very
rewarding job and can make you have a sense of purpose. Police officers can be put into
dangerous situation very quickly, so they have to be able to think quickly on their feet. One may
become a policeofficer for the sense of reward, but it comes with a lot of stress and dangers.
Policeman can have a stressful job and sometimes it gets in the way of their lives away from
work. According to Patrolman Michael Anderson (2017), he loves his job. One of the many things
that he said he loved about his job was that he loved trying to make a positive impact in ... Show

Without incorporating some type of stress reliever the job may become overwhelming and can
lead to serious health problems. The majority of police officers are men and a small percentage
are women. This field is mostly dominated by men and has been for many years. According to
University of San Diego (2017), talks about how women can have a positive effect in this field.
When dealing with sex assaults the female victim may not want to talk to a male this is where the
female police officer may have a positive impact. Many women who are looking may face a
problem with equality when trying to find a job. Most law enforcement departments are looking
for physically fit and upper body strength and sometimes there is a stereotypes of women being
weak; however, that is not always the case. Studies have found that women can make a positive
impact on the community. In the beginning of the semester we were required to take a career test,
my results were that I tested high in public safety. I think this is true, it goes along with the career
that I plan on going into. Taking this test just made me realize that it is the right career for me.
In conclusion, becoming a police officer is a big decision and is a lot to consider. The job can be
dangerous and come with a lot of stress; however it can be very rewarding. When first becoming a
police officer it may be difficult to adjust to work and home life, but it can be managed.

What Happened During The Ice Storm
In the text, What Happened During the Ice Storm, the author vividly describes how the young, farm
boys handle the situation with the ice storm that struck their farm. The author, in the text, says a
whole lot about how humans handle situations. In the article, the farm boys have to save the blind,
cold pheasants from dying and bring them inside. However, they couldn t think of a way to catch
them without spooking them and letting them run away. They stood around for a little bit looking
at each other, because they didn t know what to do and because of how ill equipped they were. The
text says, Some of them lifted their heads and turned them from side to side...The boys had not
brought clubs, or sacks, or anything but themselves.

Changes In Goodnight Mr Tom
Goodnight Mr Tom directed by Jack Gold explores the changes William undertakes as the film
unfolds. William changes from being an anxious, hesitant boy to a person who is happy,
confident. Through the use of camera work, sound editing, and dialogue, the director has help
develop the understanding of William s changes not only through dialogue but also through
visual effects. When William is first sighted in the film, he is distinguished an anxious person.
This can be seen in the fireside scene where William is noticed with Mr Tom near the fireplace.
After being pointed at with a hot, glowing poker, has used reaction shots on numerous occasions
of William which are all on a slight high angle compared to the poker which is on a lower angle to
resemble its dominance. The reaction shots, accompanied by dark, intense music, convey the
anxiousness of William. This sense of fear slowly changes throughout the film into a sense of
cheerfulness. This can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Near the middle of the film, William is portrayed as a boy who is confined to a restricted
environment of his mother s beliefs. An example of this is when William learned how to write
his name. Mr Tom told him to copy it down again for practice but instead William hesitates and
asks, won t you go to hell? This is an example of William living a past controlled life where
William lives off his mother s beliefs and assumptions. This mood from William has changed in
the film and William gradually builds up his confidence. An example of this is shown in the
London home scene. Where the director has used to dialogue to convey the idea William s
confidence. This idea is presented when William constantly bombards his mother with enquiries
and questioning her beliefs. Isn t Jesus a Jew? Wine is good for you mum. The diction used and
the tone in which the speech is said informs the audience for his confidence in standing up to argue
his side of the

Brain Performance
Imagine going to a formal music concert of younger people from the ages of 15 to 25 and then
sitting in a seat right when the concert is about to start. The first act is about to start and it is a
16 year old girl playing the piano. Notice the way she gracefully walks onto the stage. Then
noticing the way she prepares herself to begin. She first pops her knuckles, then she takes a deep
breath, and begins. In the beginning, she seems to be tense, but then she closes her eyes and her
tension seems to all go away. It looks like she is playing her instrument without even thinking about
it. Then after the show, finding out that she had only been playing the piano for three years and she

A particular brain function that is affected throughout the music training would be the processes of
sound frequency. A study proved that even after 40 years of not playing a musical instrument,
sounds go through the brain much quicker than someone without musical training. This shows
that the brain is able to process sound much faster because the brain has been trained to pick out
sounds, how to create sound, and how to deeply critique sound. This study showed that when
older people who haven t picked up a musical instrument in over 40 years can be tested and be
able to make out sounds much faster than elders who never did play a musical instrument,
because the brain is able to respond to sound very quickly. Older people who took music lessons
in childhood had a faster brain response to speech, even if they had not played an instrument in
decades, researchers found. This quote is stating that older people to had musical training as a
child could respond to sounds quickly even after decades of not having the training compared to
the older people who didn t have musical training and went through the same test. This shows that
even after 40 years, the brain is still able to process the sound frequencies very well because the

George And Emily Relationship In Our Town
In Our Town each person has their own attitude and feelings about Emily and George getting
married. The town that the story takes place in is an overall small town, and it was more
common than it is now to get married at a younger age. In the second act of Our Town is when
the marriage is first brought up. Emily and George realized they had feelings for each other while
they were drinking strawberry sodas at Mr. Morgan s. George turned down his opportunity of going
to an agricultural college for farmer s so he could stay with Emily, this shows a lot of dedication
towards her for someone his age. On page 79 of act 2, Emily expresses her doubts and her need for

Epicurus Vs Lucretius
i.Death is something that is inevitably going to happen in everybody s lifetime. We see people get
older every day and as we know we don t live eternally. But should death be feared or is it harmful?
That is something that nobody can know without a doubt the answer to, but two philosophers,
Epicurus and Lucretius, have built their own arguments on the common assumption that deathis the
total annihilation of the self. Therefore, if there is no life after death, we shouldn t fear death
itself. Epicurus creates his no harm argument on the fact that after we die we no longer exist.
Lucretius takes another approach where he makes a comparison using non existence before life. If
we don t consider this time period before we come to life to be bad... Show more content on

There are downfalls to Epicurus and Lucretius arguments that I think can make them debatable. It
cannot be proven that after death our souls are eradicated. For example, many religions believe in
life after death in some form whether it is in reincarnation or heaven. I understand that millions of
people around the world believe in this for a reason and would not blindly trust in an afterlife if
they didn t have a good enough reason to. In addition, there is no way to reach out to those who
have already passed away to know for sure. Therefore, it seems impossible to know with certainty
that death is the total annihilation of the self. This makes me doubt both philosopher s arguments
because the claim that our existence is cutoff after death is what both Epicurus and Lucretius
build their arguments off of. Another reason why I believe death is harmful is because it stops
you from experiencing the things that make you happy in life. Epicurus states that death cannot
possibly cause us harm because we stop existing in that moment. It is my belief though that by
our existence coming to a halt that that itself does cause us harm. You are no longer able to be
with the ones you love or do the things that you love. If we would have lived longer we would be
able to experience more of the good things. We might not feel physical pain or harm after death but
that doesn t mean that we aren t missing out on the things that are enjoyable in the

The World Of 1984 Scared Me
Total surveillance. Complete obedience. Absolute authority. The world of 1984 scared me
when I first read the book last year. Never before had a book made me think so deeply about
individuality, society, and government. 1984, a manifestation of my nightmares, described a
totalitarian police state of resolute submission. The horror came when I looked upon our own
society, and Big Brother glared back at me. We live in a world where every phone call, every
text, every search, and every email can be monitored and recorded by our own government. The
National Security Agency, or the NSA, was originally proposed to monitor threats outside of the
United States, but the NSA began domestic surveillance shortly after the horrific terror attacks of
2001. This cleared the way for warrantless, unlawful tracking of American citizens. Initially, the
program collected only the data of high risk individuals in America with direct links to Al Qaeda.
Now, however, government data collection has spread to millions of otherwise innocent citizens.
Government surveillance is a direct violation of the privacyof American citizens that is dangerous,
immoral, and unlawful.
It is important to realize the dangers of government surveillance; personal information containing
sensitive details about an individual s private life put in the wrong hands or otherwise used
incorrectly could potentially have disastrous repercussions. In today s interconnected world,
everything that is said and done online is

Indigenous Land Degradation Report
Introduction
For over 50,000 years the Indigenous cultures of Australia have existed, adapting and changing over
time. Their affinity with the land expresses how it serves as the core of their spirituality and
remains so today. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities have established effective ways
to use and sustain resources, allowing them to ensure the survival of native plants and animals, to
which they have a deep sense of connection and responsibility (Reconciliation Australia, n.d.). This
has often posed challenges, particularly with the arrival of the first European settlers who brought
with them different agricultural practices and new perspectives that clashed with those of the
Indigenous communities. Wetlands are just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clearing of land was widespread throughout Australia in order to support their agricultural growth
which has led to negative changes in the environment that are still evident today. A number of
management practices have since been employed by Non Indigenous led organisations to deal with
these changes (Department of the environment, n.d.).
In 1991 the Currawinya National Park was declared a wetland of national importance under the
Ramsar Convention (Bullo shire council, c2016). and since that time The Queensland Government
has managed the area, employing a number of legislations and guidelines in order to protect the
wetlands that exist within it. Limiting tourism related infrastructure in the environment is an
example of how the government manages the park, however any new developments are assessed on
their potential impact (Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, 2001).

The Curriculum Starting From Early Education
If I had to choose any of the six educational philosophies I would choose Essentialism. I believe
that all individuals should be taught the same curriculum starting from early education in order to
success in our society. According to (Gutek 2013), genuine education involves learning basic skills,
that are needed to function effectively in civilized society. Human Nature Aspects According to
(Kronfeldner, M 2014) essentialist hypothesizes, that there exists some characteristic unique to and
shared by all members of Homo sapiens which explains why they are the way they are. All humans
are inherited with the same basic characteristic that makes us all unique. (Willis J 2008), believes
that there are some features common to all human beings that is, independent of individual, cultural
and historical factors that are conducive to a good life and human flourishing. With that being said,
there is a general agreement that all humans share the same basic human nature characteristics.
Personal Reaction All humans have the basic desire to live a good, flourishing life which may
pertains to health, money or love. I believe our human nature would do anything to pursue these
common beliefs. Humans are eager to learn only if it meets their basic human nature needs.
Furthermore, I believe our society shape our independent thinking; what we hope for in our future
will shape our basic human nature. The School Purpose The purpose of schools is to educate every

Snow Piercer Analysis
Snow Piercer was directed by Bong Joon ho in 2013, which is based on the French novel Le
Transperceneige. At first glance, most people will not understand the many themes that this
particular film has. After carefully examining the film the viewers may find the hidden themes in
the film that will be explained in this analysis. Themes that will discuss are humanity, revolt, and
master of your fate. There are many sub themes within the film but this particular analysis, it is the
crucial focus on these themes because it helps develop the central plot and conflict with in the film.
The first theme that will discuss is humanity. The whole plot of the movie focuses on preserving
humanity or what s left of it. After global warming had destroyed the earth and making unsuitable
for any living creature to survive the Conductor trainmade that makes an around trip cross the earth
to try to preserve humanity. Even though he was ridiculed about his theories and his plan to save
humanity he still went ahead with plans and end up saving what was left of humanity. Throughout
the movie, many of the characters humanity was tested. Even though the Conductor saved
humanity he sectioned off the train by class. The lower class was placed in the last cart of the

How Does The Greater London Area Develop
The greater London area covers an area of approximately 1620 square KM. Technically speaking
the London area is divided into cities: Westminster and the city of London itself. The greater
London metropolitan area is home to approximately 12 million people. London is a highly
multicultural city, with 50 nationalities, and more than 300 languages are spoken. The site of

The flow of capital, information, goods and services, and people are among the more readily
measured indicators of such links between large cities. Generally, there has been a net transfer of
funds from the worlds developed economies to countries in the developed world. The decision
makers directing these flows are typically located in world cities, such as London, while these on
whom the decision impacts are often found in the old industrial centres of the developed world,
where the cash is being redirected form. This also has a major effect on those in the developing
world, which is the areas to which capital is being directed. This resulted in factory closures and
high unemployment in the old manufacturing centres of the developed world and factory
openings and job creation in the low cost economies of the developing world. There have been
many attempts to compute the linkages between global cites such as London, one such attempt
focuses on the concept connectivity. This is essentially a measure of the flows of information,
knowledge, and direction between the international office networks of global services, these
being the most basic agents of the formation of the world city network. Based on these criteria
London s strongest links are with North American cities such as New York, Washington DC and
Chicago, as well as some Asian cities such as Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. The global

regional and local scales, with London generally considered at the centre of the hierarchy, being the

Benefits And Problems Associated With Globalization
This purpose of this paper is to provide a guideline for discussion of the benefits and problems
associated with globalization. The following points will show that the idea of globalization is both
positive and negative, while providing five examples of specific net gain and net problems. The
following paper will briefly discuss each issue, provide a short summary to provide context, give a
mechanism that could assist with managing the issue, as well as identifying how each can help
with the implementation of managing the resource.
I. The Net Gains of Globalization
1) Issue: Globalization has a positive effect on the environment through the active regu lation of the
entire timber trade process.
a)Summary: When companies are regulated in the amount of timber that is ex ported, this can help
to limit the amount of deforestation.
b)Mechanism: One agency best able to assist in the management of this policy would be CITES
(Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flo ra and Fauna).
c)Implementation: This agency is has been able to help in protection of timber re sources by
including legal documentation; this allows regulation of timber all levels of the trade. With
increasing acceptance of the need to place the international timber trade in a legal framework,
CITES is an important component of regulating the legal supply of timber. (Oldfield, S. F., 2013).

Romeo And Juliet s Death
It only takes one person to take another person s life. Ones morals, beliefs, and values can affect
another. A man who makes the irresponsible decision to drink and drive can take someone s life
in seconds. If that man crashes and hits and kills another driver, their one decision to drink and
drive has a bigger outcome than they expected. In the story of Romeo and Juliet, the two lovers
remain separated because of one man s decisions that change the whole story. A decision no
matter its size, or how thoughtfully it is made, can lead to an outcome that may be small and
even life changing. One has to be blamed for an ending, so who is at fault for Romeo and Juliet
s death? Although, some might argue Friar Lawrence remains at fault for Romeo and Juliet s
death, Romeo is actually at fault for their deaths since, Romeo kills Tybalt, which causes him to
get exiled and Juliet to drink the potion, and he makes an impulsive decision to kill himself,
which leads to Juliet s death. For one to be blamed, they have to be at fault. Being held at fault
means to hold accountability for an accident. Somebody has to be blamed for an accident because
otherwise it would not have happened. In Romeo and Juliet there were many unfortunate events and
many characters were held responsible for each single one. However, Romeo was held responsible
for many more incidents compared to the rest. With his character being dynamic, the changes he
was going through impacted him to make decisions that he

There is no way to take time to think situations over, a decision must be made immediately or the
thought will be forgotten.
While Leonard s memory problem causes him not to be able to form new memories, his memories
of everything that happened before the incident are still intact. According to MemoryLossOnline,
Memories for events that occurred before the injury may be largely spared, but events that occurred
since the injury may be lost. In practice, this means that an individual with amnesia may have good
memory for childhood and for the years before the injury, but may remember little or nothing from
the years since ( Anterograde ). Throughout the movie, Leonard recalls information that he
remembered before his incident, such as the insurance case he investigated that dealt with another
form of anterograde amnesia.
Leonard has the ability to carry on normal conversations with people, but after the conversation
in over or if he gets distracted for more than a few moments, he forgets what he was doing. This
is because short term memory is generally spared, which means that the individual may be able to
carry on a conversation; but as soon as he is distracted, the memory of the conversation fades (
Anterograde ). In one scene, Leonard is arguing with Carrie Ann Moss character about her
boyfriend. Moss

A Business With A Second Patent For Electric Motors
In 1895 John Lincoln resolved to open a business with a second patent for electric motors. He
founded this business with just 200 dollars. His start up cost was the earnings he received from
redesigning a single motor for Herbert Dow. His business launched out of a small one room
factory. In 1906 he spread his wings and erected a new 3 story factory. He filled those three stories
with 30 new employees and the sales shot through the roof.
Shortly after, his younger brother came on board as the Vice President and General Manager. John
was an engineer and inventor by heart so he ultimately detached from his company and handed over
the reins to his younger brother James. James initially came into the company in 1907 after leaving

categorized under the profile of a growth investor. I am a motivated individual who seizes
opportunities as they present themselves. Opportunities may not always be rewarding, but I am
someone who is willing to take that risk while others are in doubt. For this reason, I believe that
I have a relatively high level of risk tolerance. Many would say that risk is a double edged sword,

potential return, the higher the potential loss. However, I believe that with exceptional knowledge

rewarding if it was reinvested with a worthwhile investment strategy to induce a greater capital gain.

The Causes And Effects Of Stereotypes On Women
Stereotypes are seen everywhere people go. They have affected women since the dawn of time.
The ones held for women affect them in every possible way . All the little stereotypes that
women have add up creating big effects on women s day to day life. Their is no way around it
especially in the workforce. The impact of stereotypes starts at a young age and these impacts stick
with them fro the rest of their life. The cause of the impacts determines their career.
The effects of stereotypes that women face in society start very early in their childhood. The media
plays a big role in this. Miribel Tran the author of an article called The Effect of Social Media in
Young Girls talks about how every time a girlopens a magazine, turn on the television or goes on
any form of social media there is always a model on there that has been photoshopped to look
smaller than she already does. There is always a new product out there to make them look better
or more attractive . This makes girls feel like they have to look this way and if they do not they
will not be noticed or looked at in a positive way. This causes most little girls to go into
depression. Depression leads the little girls getting obese. The obesity makes them feel more
worse about them because they think they are even further away from looking like the women
they see on social media. This just makes it even more bad because this leads to grades falling in
school (Tran ). The falling of their grades affects them in the future because if their grades fall they
feel dumb. This makes them think that they will not get into a good college because they feel they
are not smart enough for it. This stops girls from pursuing their dreams and affect the type of job
they get in the future.
The stereotype that men hold the character trait of brilliance and women do not is another big
one that affects little girls. It affects most girls at the age of six. In theguardian Nicola Davis talks
about a research done by three US Universities about how this stereotype affects girls. They did a
research on 400 kids between the ages of five and seven half of them were girls the other half were
boys. Out of the 400 kids 96 girls and boys of all three ages were shown

The Government Must Maintain Crucial Relationships With...
The government must maintain crucial relationships with the society. The leaders uphold the basic
rights by guaranteeing people s security and equitable distribution of resources. The Chinese
government has implemented several policies that enabled the cooperation between the state and

connecting the state and the society and in enhancing their relationship. They are the extensions of

Although the government appears to exact control in the social organizations, their relationships
are said to be symbiotic. The social organizations always find ways to negotiate with the
government on how to meet the interests of their members ( Negotiating the state: The
development of social organizations in China , p. 125). The government is making efforts to
involve the society in the developments through the social organizations. Wang and Carl explain
that the increasing social unrest is a force generated from communist rule, increasing the need for
the government to respond the people s needs. Social organizations have been used in the control
of unrest of people created by previous leaders through the introduction of reforms dating back to
1990 s. In light of the challenges of dealing with societal unrest, the government s response was to
involve society in major decisions, thus initiating the formation of social organizations. In the
article The Rise of the Chinese Security State, Wang and Carl mention that there was establishment
of special offices for dealing with social stability, an example of these special offices being the anti
cult departments; and those special offices being predecessors of social organizations.
In democratic nations, such as the United States, each political party has to come with its policies
and manifestos.

The Characters Of Aisha And Khadija
The Prophet s pietistic norms are archetypes in which Muslims, as a piety of knowledge, are
intrigued to comprehend more about the messenger s social gestures. There have been various
inquiries concerning the prophet s marriage, the traits of Muhammad as a husband and the
normative of his sexual life. Although the prophet had consummated his marriagewith eleven of his
thirteen wives, Khadija and Aisha were the Prophet s most preference and beloved ones. No doubts,
both Aisha and Khadija manifested the entitlement The Mother of the Muslim Believers; though,
they both embedded different characters and witnessed the Prophet sexually in varying views.
Therefore, the community had portrait Aisha and Khadija s embodiments relatively to their

Functional Behavior Assessment
Subject and Setting
The subject is a three year old boy named Levi who has been diagnosed with autism. The setting
for his observation is in his home and front yard at 11:00 am with his mother and little brother
present. His mother reports that he has recently been sick with a cold and is getting restless. It
has been five days since he has had any school services and the date of the observation is the first
day he has been well enough to have visitors. There are no other reported medical or physiological
factors that are known to influence the target behavior.
Target Behavior
The problem behavior being observed is self injurious behavior. Self injurious behavior is
operationally defined as: projecting head into forceful contact with any surface and forceful contact
between hand and head/face. Levi s self injurious behavior occurs hourly at a severe intensity, thus
posing a physical threat to his safety. Engaging in this behavior also impedes Levi from
communicating his needs using verbal language and acquiring additional functional skills. For
these reasons, a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) should be performed in order to determine

during the observation, he was denied access to an activity (going outside), over seventy percent
of the time. Thus, it is unlikely that gaining access to a tangible is the primary function of his
behavior, as he is denied access to playing outside as a result of his self injurious

Historical Information About The Lovely Bones
Historical information about the setting:
The Lovely Bones takes place in a small town near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The plot begins
December 6, 1973 with the rape and murder of Susie Salmon. As Susie herself says, It was still
back when people believed things like that didn t happen. (Sebold 1) During the 1970s most
serial killers and rape were unheard of. The fact that many people weren t aware led to the very
criminals living amongst them. Awareness to these crimes started to rise with the feminist
movement and technology. The inspiration to the setting in this novel also comes from where the
Sebold herself grew up. She grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia and she called it Nowhere,
USA. She lived in some look alike homes when she was an adult and made the same design for the
setting in The Lovely Bones.

Apologetics New Generation
Review 3: Sean McDowell, Apologetics for a New Generation (Harvest House, 2009)
SUMMARY
Apologetics for a New Generation is a compilation of essays from some of the greatest Christian
minds geared towards answering the question: How do we use apologetics effectively to reach the
new generations? It is clear that large numbers of youngsters view Christianity negatively.
Relativism and postmodernism have eroded the mindset and values in our culture. Therefore, the
immutable truths of Christianity need to be pitched differently to the current generation.
Apologetics is more important than ever, but the manner in which we deliver truth is equally
important: Christians must build relationships in the context of love, civility, wisdom and kindness

We need to retell the stories of old, the stories of Scripture and of Jesus Resurrection in ways that
captivate the modern mind without compromising truth. This statement from Brian Godawa
summarizes my take away from the book: The one who can tell the best story, in a very real
sense, wins the epoch (131). As a left sided brain engineer (and not unlike Godawa), I expected
my logical syllogisms to be devastating to atheism and that after seeing the undeniable logic in
them, unbelievers would come to Christ in hordes. I am well aware that is unlikely to happen. I
am convinced that the days when masses walk down the aisles in football stadiums to receive
Christ are long gone. With the advent of relativism, postmodernism, and mass media, the modern
apologist should adopt a distinct approach. From Apologetics for a New Generation and past
experience I believe there are tree winning strategies for the modern apologist to win the new
generations : (1) Storytelling: both Jesus and the Apostle Paul had the gift of storytelling. They
took fact, encapsulated it in a context relevant and captivating story, and delivered it to those
willing to hear. They were interesting, engaging, and truthful. They knew their culture and how to
engage it. We

mind whether conscious of it or not. It is becoming increasingly clear that the media is one of the
most inseparable things from a teenager s life. Teenagers are naturally curious. Faced with a
multitude of choices and challenges, they often look for direction and guidance on how they can
live their lives in today s society (Fox, 1999.) Because of this, maturing children look to this as
finding out what is normal and acceptable or what is frowned upon and not accepted.
The literature on the influence of media on teenagers is vast and most of them have focused on the
negative impacts. They seem to advance the view that the way youth react to situations, or their
mode of thinking is wholly based on the effect of the media, particularly television and movies,
music, videogames, and the internet. Youth in sense represents the age group between 13 and 20.
The outcome of media influences has largely been negative, especially since the above forms of
media have negatively influenced the behaviors and sexuality of the teenagers (Stern and Handel,
2001).

Net Neutrality Vs Open Internet Essay
Along with consumer advocates and human rights organization, many internet application
companies like Yahoo, Amazon, eBay, Vonage etc. support net neutrality regulation. Google
published a statement in 2008, opposing market power of broadband providers to control access to
content and other applications. They further compared the situation to that of the
telecommunication market, where companies are not allowed to control who their customers call
or what those customers are allowed to say. The Sites which favor net neutrality propose to have an
equal platform for every content on the Internet, in short they demand Open Internet.Net neutrality
is a highly important component for open internet. The idea of an open internet reflects that anyone

This means that cable companies would be required to allow Internet service providers free
access to cable lines, like the model used for dial up Internet. They also intend to make sure that
the cable companies cannot screen, disrupt or filter Internet content without a court order. This in
turn would allow FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to enforce rules of net neutrality
effectively. Furthermore, Net neutrality advocates argue that allowing cable and
telecommunication to act as gatekeepers i.e. being able to control speed of loading of websites,
as well as letting them to demand a toll on quality of service would create an exploitative
business model and would also slow down innovation in online services. Further, they also argue
that by charging certain sites, ISP s may be able to block those who are unable to pay. Also, the
advocates assert that every content on the Internet must be treated same and must move at the same
speeds. Presently, the order is meant to set a precedent that all ISP s as well as communication
companies cannot impede customers from using their networks the way they desire unless there is

Temptation Is An Unavoidable Part Of Life
Temptation is an unavoidable part of life that has been around since the creation of the world
and man. After the creation of man, God placed him in the Garden of Eden, and gave him
dominion over the Garden and everything in it. The only command given to man, by God, was
to not eat from one particular tree or he would die. In an act of rebellion against God, Satan
approached Eve and persuaded her to eat from the tree that God forbade them from eating. This
persuasion included lying to Eve about dying and that they would be like God (Genesis 3:4 5,
NIV). On top of the lies, the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing
to the eye (Genesis 3:6, NIV). Satan placed Eve in a situation where she gave in to her desires,
lust for the fruit, envy and greed to be like God, these are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life. Just because Satan tempted Eve does not mean that she sinned, temptation is
not to be equated with sin(Towns, The Essential Element of Sin, 2002). Eve acted on her desires
and ate the forbidden fruit. She in turn, led Adam to eat from the tree. This act of defiance, by
Adam and Eve, against God resulting from the temptation and deception, by Satan, led to the
original sinand to the fall of man. The fall of man resulted in the spiritual separation of man from
God. Temptation led to sin that then led to the fall of man and resulted in a separation from God
that comes to an end with spiritual and physical

Why Is Leslie Marmon Silko Contribute To The Native...
Leslie Marmon Silko is dedicated to the cause of reviving Native American culture and literature,
and her reputation stands tall as one of the most prominent contemporary Native American writers.
She has integrated a strong Native American color to her works by perfectly mixing diversified
genres into varied literary pieces, by connecting the writing closely to nature, and by implementing
oral tradition, and storytelling. Her writings reflect a profound understanding of Native American
cultural heritage and an intense awareness of Native Americans. Her writings reflect the complex
nature of Native American identity formation. Silko s writings explicate harmonious coexistence
and syncretism as best way towards the survival of Native American identity and the maintenance
of cultural continuity. The analysis should help to contribute some insights into a reciprocity and
smooth communication among different cultures in the context of globalization, and should be
useful to the study of Native American culture.
Key Words: Native American Identity, Leslie Marmon Silko, Globalization, Oral Tradition,
Hybridity, Laguna Pueblo Tribe

Analyzing Networked Control Systems For Network Induced...
Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loop is
connected through a communication channel. There has been an increased attention to the use of
Network Control System (NCS) in recent years because of their cost effective and flexible
applications. But one of the major issues that need to be studied and solved in NCS is the delay of
the data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network in the system and thus
degrades the control systemperformance and also causes the system instability. This paper
basically presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model
of delay control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control
system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control
system. The TrueTime toolbox of Matlab/Simulink is used for simulating the NCS model.
Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability
I.INTRODUCTION
In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital
technology whereas in modern control systems, the control loop is closed through a real time
communication network by T. C. Yang et al. [1]. The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are the
distributed control systems in which the system components (sensors, actuators and controllers) are
connected by communication networks [2]. One

rest of the piece. He died probably from poor health when he was just thirty five years old. The
Requiem was completed by one of Mozart s pupils, Sussmayr.Mozart was apolitical. He was very
classical. He appreciated Bach and had a large output: 49 symphonies and 18 operas. References

  • 3. The Electronic Medical Record ( Emr ) Meaningful Use and its Development The electronic medical record (EMR) is the replacement of paper manual charts and is being used all across the country. As per Hebda and Czar (2013), the EMR is the building block of the electronic health record (EHR), which can be defined as a longitudinal record that includes client data, demographics, clinician notes, medications, diagnostic findings, and other essential healthcare information (p.293). The widespread use of EHR s in America is foreseeable and inevitably unavoidable, but by no means a simple and undoubtedly an effortless task to achieve. In an attempt to reduce costs in the introduction, conversion, and implementation of patient health records the government has provided regulations for meaningful use (MU) (p.280). In the attempt to improve the safety and quality of the nation s healthcare system, the government enacted the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. The HITECH Act is part of the American Reinvestment Recovery Act (ARRA), enacted on February 17, 2009, which includes many measures intended to modernize the nation s infrastructure (cdc.gov.). The HITECH Act, encourages the use of EHR s meaningful use in order to reduce the redundancy of data entry with integration and interoperability. Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS ) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) consider meaningful use of interoperable electronic health records ... • 7. Changes In Goodnight Mr Tom Goodnight Mr Tom directed by Jack Gold explores the changes William undertakes as the film unfolds. William changes from being an anxious, hesitant boy to a person who is happy, confident. Through the use of camera work, sound editing, and dialogue, the director has help develop the understanding of William s changes not only through dialogue but also through visual effects. When William is first sighted in the film, he is distinguished an anxious person. This can be seen in the fireside scene where William is noticed with Mr Tom near the fireplace. After being pointed at with a hot, glowing poker, has used reaction shots on numerous occasions of William which are all on a slight high angle compared to the poker which is on a lower angle to resemble its dominance. The reaction shots, accompanied by dark, intense music, convey the anxiousness of William. This sense of fear slowly changes throughout the film into a sense of cheerfulness. This can be... This is an example of William living a past controlled life where William lives off his mother s beliefs and assumptions. A study proved that even after 40 years of not playing a musical instrument, sounds go through the brain much quicker than someone without musical training. This study showed that when older people who haven t picked up a musical instrument in over 40 years can be tested and be able to make out sounds much faster than elders who never did play a musical instrument, because the brain is able to respond to sound very quickly. • 14. Epicurus Vs Lucretius i.Death is something that is inevitably going to happen in everybody s lifetime. We see people get older every day and as we know we don t live eternally. But should death be feared or is it harmful? That is something that nobody can know without a doubt the answer to, but two philosophers, Epicurus and Lucretius, have built their own arguments on the common assumption that deathis the total annihilation of the self. Therefore, if there is no life after death, we shouldn t fear death itself. Epicurus creates his no harm argument on the fact that after we die we no longer exist. Lucretius takes another approach where he makes a comparison using non existence before life. If we don t consider this time period before we come to life to be bad... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are downfalls to Epicurus and Lucretius arguments that I think can make them debatable. It cannot be proven that after death our souls are eradicated. For example, many religions believe in life after death in some form whether it is in reincarnation or heaven. I understand that millions of people around the world believe in this for a reason and would not blindly trust in an afterlife if they didn t have a good enough reason to. In addition, there is no way to reach out to those who have already passed away to know for sure. Therefore, it seems impossible to know with certainty that death is the total annihilation of the self. This makes me doubt both philosopher s arguments because the claim that our existence is cutoff after death is what both Epicurus and Lucretius build their arguments off of. Another reason why I believe death is harmful is because it stops you from experiencing the things that make you happy in life. Epicurus states that death cannot possibly cause us harm because we stop existing in that moment. It is my belief though that by our existence coming to a halt that that itself does cause us harm. You are no longer able to be with the ones you love or do the things that you love. If we would have lived longer we would be able to experience more of the good things. We might not feel physical pain or harm after death but that doesn t mean that we aren t missing out on the things that are enjoyable in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Never before had a book made me think so deeply about individuality, society, and government. 1984, a manifestation of my nightmares, described a totalitarian police state of resolute submission. The horror came when I looked upon our own society, and Big Brother glared back at me. We live in a world where every phone call, every text, every search, and every email can be monitored and recorded by our own government. The National Security Agency, or the NSA, was originally proposed to monitor threats outside of the United States, but the NSA began domestic surveillance shortly after the horrific terror attacks of 2001. This cleared the way for warrantless, unlawful tracking of American citizens. Initially, the program collected only the data of high risk individuals in America with direct links to Al Qaeda. Now, however, government data collection has spread to millions of otherwise innocent citizens. Government surveillance is a direct violation of the privacyof American citizens that is dangerous, immoral, and unlawful. I believe that all individuals should be taught the same curriculum starting from early education in order to success in our society. According to (Gutek 2013), genuine education involves learning basic skills, that are needed to function effectively in civilized society. Human Nature Aspects According to (Kronfeldner, M 2014) essentialist hypothesizes, that there exists some characteristic unique to and shared by all members of Homo sapiens which explains why they are the way they are. All humans are inherited with the same basic characteristic that makes us all unique. With that being said, there is a general agreement that all humans share the same basic human nature characteristics. Personal Reaction All humans have the basic desire to live a good, flourishing life which may pertains to health, money or love. I believe our human nature would do anything to pursue these common beliefs. Humans are eager to learn only if it meets their basic human nature needs. • 32. The Causes And Effects Of Stereotypes On Women Stereotypes are seen everywhere people go. They have affected women since the dawn of time. The ones held for women affect them in every possible way . All the little stereotypes that women have add up creating big effects on women s day to day life. Their is no way around it especially in the workforce. The impact of stereotypes starts at a young age and these impacts stick with them fro the rest of their life. The cause of the impacts determines their career. The effects of stereotypes that women face in society start very early in their childhood. The media plays a big role in this. Miribel Tran the author of an article called The Effect of Social Media in Young Girls talks about how every time a girlopens a magazine, turn on the television or goes on any form of social media there is always a model on there that has been photoshopped to look smaller than she already does. There is always a new product out there to make them look better or more attractive . This makes girls feel like they have to look this way and if they do not they will not be noticed or looked at in a positive way. This causes most little girls to go into depression. Depression leads the little girls getting obese. The obesity makes them feel more worse about them because they think they are even further away from looking like the women they see on social media. This just makes it even more bad because this leads to grades falling in school (Tran ). The falling of their grades affects them in the future because if their grades fall they feel dumb. This makes them think that they will not get into a good college because they feel they are not smart enough for it. This stops girls from pursuing their dreams and affect the type of job they get in the future. The stereotype that men hold the character trait of brilliance and women do not is another big one that affects little girls. It affects most girls at the age of six. In theguardian Nicola Davis talks about a research done by three US Universities about how this stereotype affects girls. They did a research on 400 kids between the ages of five and seven half of them were girls the other half were boys. Out of the 400 kids 96 girls and boys of all three ages were shown ... It is clear that large numbers of youngsters view Christianity negatively. Relativism and postmodernism have eroded the mindset and values in our culture. Therefore, the immutable truths of Christianity need to be pitched differently to the current generation. Apologetics is more important than ever, but the manner in which we deliver truth is equally important: Christians must build relationships in the context of love, civility, wisdom and kindness ... As a left sided brain engineer (and not unlike Godawa), I expected my logical syllogisms to be devastating to atheism and that after seeing the undeniable logic in them, unbelievers would come to Christ in hordes. I am well aware that is unlikely to happen. I am convinced that the days when masses walk down the aisles in football stadiums to receive Christ are long gone. Net Neutrality Vs Open Internet Essay Along with consumer advocates and human rights organization, many internet application companies like Yahoo, Amazon, eBay, Vonage etc. support net neutrality regulation. Google published a statement in 2008, opposing market power of broadband providers to control access to content and other applications. They further compared the situation to that of the telecommunication market, where companies are not allowed to control who their customers call or what those customers are allowed to say. The Sites which favor net neutrality propose to have an equal platform for every content on the Internet, in short they demand Open Internet.Net neutrality is a highly important component for open internet. This means that cable companies would be required to allow Internet service providers free access to cable lines, like the model used for dial up Internet. They also intend to make sure that the cable companies cannot screen, disrupt or filter Internet content without a court order. This in turn would allow FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to enforce rules of net neutrality effectively. Furthermore, Net neutrality advocates argue that allowing cable and telecommunication to act as gatekeepers i.e. being able to control speed of loading of websites, as well as letting them to demand a toll on quality of service would create an exploitative business model and would also slow down innovation in online services. Further, they also argue that by charging certain sites, ISP s may be able to block those who are unable to pay. Also, the advocates assert that every content on the Internet must be treated same and must move at the same speeds. Presently, the order is meant to set a precedent that all ISP s as well as communication companies cannot impede customers from using their networks the way they desire unless there is a valid ... • 44. Temptation Is An Unavoidable Part Of Life Temptation is an unavoidable part of life that has been around since the creation of the world and man. After the creation of man, God placed him in the Garden of Eden, and gave him dominion over the Garden and everything in it. The only command given to man, by God, was to not eat from one particular tree or he would die. In an act of rebellion against God, Satan approached Eve and persuaded her to eat from the tree that God forbade them from eating. This persuasion included lying to Eve about dying and that they would be like God (Genesis 3:4 5, NIV). On top of the lies, the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye (Genesis 3:6, NIV). Satan placed Eve in a situation where she gave in to her desires, lust for the fruit, envy and greed to be like God, these are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Just because Satan tempted Eve does not mean that she sinned, temptation is not to be equated with sin(Towns, The Essential Element of Sin, 2002). Eve acted on her desires and ate the forbidden fruit. She in turn, led Adam to eat from the tree. This act of defiance, by Adam and Eve, against God resulting from the temptation and deception, by Satan, led to the original sinand to the fall of man. The fall of man resulted in the spiritual separation of man from God. Temptation led to sin that then led to the fall of man and resulted in a separation from God that comes to an end with spiritual and physical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leslie Marmon Silko is dedicated to the cause of reviving Native American culture and literature, and her reputation stands tall as one of the most prominent contemporary Native American writers. She has integrated a strong Native American color to her works by perfectly mixing diversified genres into varied literary pieces, by connecting the writing closely to nature, and by implementing oral tradition, and storytelling. Her writings reflect a profound understanding of Native American cultural heritage and an intense awareness of Native Americans. Her writings reflect the complex nature of Native American identity formation. Silko s writings explicate harmonious coexistence and syncretism as best way towards the survival of Native American identity and the maintenance of cultural continuity. The analysis should help to contribute some insights into a reciprocity and smooth communication among different cultures in the context of globalization, and should be useful to the study of Native American culture. Key Words: Native American Identity, Leslie Marmon Silko, Globalization, Oral Tradition, Hybridity, Laguna Pueblo Tribe Leslie Marmon Silko is a Native American writer of the Laguna Pueblo tribe. • 46. Analyzing Networked Control Systems For Network Induced... Abstract Networked Control Systems (NCS) are the control systems in which the control loop is connected through a communication channel. There has been an increased attention to the use of Network Control System (NCS) in recent years because of their cost effective and flexible applications. But one of the major issues that need to be studied and solved in NCS is the delay of the data transmission which occurs throughout the communication network in the system and thus degrades the control systemperformance and also causes the system instability. This paper basically presents an analysis of network delay in NCS. In this paper, we have designed a model of delay control system for network induced delay using the simulation model of network control system delay and thus analysed the effect of network delay on the performance of the control system. The TrueTime toolbox of Matlab/Simulink is used for simulating the NCS model. Keywords networked control system, network delay, control performance, truetime, stability I.INTRODUCTION In conventional control systems, control signals are sent over the loop using analog or digital technology whereas in modern control systems, the control loop is closed through a real time communication network by T. C. Yang et al. [1]. The Networked Control Systems (NCSs) are the distributed control systems in which the system components (sensors, actuators and controllers) are connected by communication networks [2]. One ...
