Walking down gradually from University Avenue to the park area is a descent from industrial
buildings to a picturesque landscape. This green space on the east bluff of the river is mature and
beautiful. The topography of the soil is varies and the ancient tree trunks lift the ground up with
them. The meandering concrete paths lead you beside the river, and ultimately to the Stone Arch
Bridge. Where the land and vegetation open up to carve out the bridge, a grand vista emerges.
The bridge leads my eye and curves smaller and smaller over the Mississippi until the rise of the
Mill ruins leads my sight up and the skyscrapers eventually lift my head to the highest point of
the city. Here our entire history is visible, our artifacts are in the limestone and sandstone that is

possession. Therefore, the oil problem became a crisis as military demands quickly drained
Japanese stockpiles. The Japanese needed to find oil to support its larger dream of establishing the

My Passion In Computer Science
I still remember the day, I first used a computer at my uncle s house in the summer of 2000. As a
boy of 8, I was astonished to see the interaction between a television like object and some keys.

James Hurst s Short Story The Scarlet Ibis
Imagine having a brother who is incapable of doing anything for himself. James Hurst s short
story tells the tale of a young boy in this position and the way his mindset is. In the short story
The Scarlet Ibis, James Hurst uses imagery, setting, and motif to convey Brother s feelings of guilt.
By using these literary elements, Hurst allows the readers to take a deeper look into Brother s
perception towards Doodle at the time.
Hurst uses imagery to show how Brother feels guilt for causing Doodle to die. I ran as fast as I
could, leaving him far behind with a wall of rain dividing us. Brother remembers when Doodle
says Brother, Brother, Don t leave me! Don t leave me! Brother feels guilt for leaving Doodle
once before. When Brother runs away from Doodle, he is not actually running away from him,
he is running away from the guilt which Doodle causes him to feel. Brother looks at Doodle and
feels guilty for leaving him at a time of trouble before. Hurst uses the rain as a way to symbolize
guilt and sorrow. What are you crying for They did not know that I did it for myself, that pride,
whose slave I was, spoke to me louder than all their voices. In this scene, Hurst shows the guilt in

Cognitive dissonance is the internal state that arises when either an attitude and behavior or two

Examine and assess how political order is made and repaired.
In this TMA I will examine and assess how political order is made mainly through the state. In
order to create, maintain and repair political order, the state needs authority from its citizens to do
so and this authority needs to be legitimate. Legitimacy refers to a belief in the states rightness, its
right to rule or the idea that its authority is proper. I will then explain how today, legitimacy is
closely linked to democracy and it is through free and fair elections that the state receives
legitimacy. The degree to which individuals legitimise the state is varied and individuals or groups
of people can also engage critically with the state.

One way citizens can legitimise their relationship with the state is through citizenship ceremonies
however most citizens do not attend such ceremonies.
Many of the everyday practises and discourses of the state, its discourses, its symbols and the ways
in which state actors and institutions represent themselves to the people, are involved in the process
of legitimation; that is to say, the states claim of legitimacy from its citizens. So through peoples
everyday practises and activities like paying taxes or taking the car for an MOT individuals are
involved in the making and remaking of the state. This is another way through which people
legitimise the state.
However, one of the main ways individuals express their acceptance or rejection of the state is
through the ballot box. Elections provide a means for people to question and reflect on this or
that government policy, the adequacy of this or that government agency, or the talents and policies
of this or that party, candidate or official. Today we would see free and fair democratic elections
as the main, if not the only, reasonable indicator of whether people have given express consent to
those who hold state derived power over them.
Its possible to see that state legitimacy is closely linked to democracy. This is because through
democracy the state claims legitimacy to rule over people in a certain territory. Democracy is a

Suicide In Dido s Lament By Mark Morris
Dido s Lament , choreographed by Mark Morris, is an emotional dance theatre piece that
illustrates the tale of Queen Dido, a character from the opera Dido and Aeneas, who prepares to
commit suicide after feeling betrayed by Aeneas, a man with whom she fell in love with. Because
the character that Morris is portraying is preparing to commit suicide due to being heartbroken,
Morris wanted to translate this tragic and moving concept of suicide through not only his
movement phrases, but through the dark setting created onstage by the performers as well. As the
title suggests, the word lament , as well as the concept of suicide and despair, were the main
elements on which Morris built the dance piece on. Through the dark ambiance and slow, dramatic
movements onstage, Morris expresses to the audience through story how emotional grief, inner
conflict, and sadness are.

dancing and the musicality he chose to utilize with his performances, while still being graceful and

Shakespeare. Brutus, an honorable Roman, and Cassius, a man with questionable motives, come

Architecture in every life reflects the culture of every society interacting closely with the history,
politics and social feature of the society. Change in the cultural or social attitude has greatest impact
on architecture. Thus it would be generic to conclude that the role of culture in promoting an
architectural style or era is an essential part of its existence.
Roemer van Toorn1 states that Matters concerning architecture are no longer about being popular
but about creating the popular. But the main idea to the proposal suggests that Contemporary

we call popular culture.
The popular culture is more defined by what is displayed in mass medias such as the MTV or

researchers used twenty nine patients with depression, twenty two patients with severe
depression and thirty two control patients. All patients were around the same age, physically

patients entire brain. Then an image was aligned with the anterior commissure and posterior
commissure as well as the borders of the left and right hippocampus. From the MRI scans and
