Essay On Ozone Layer
Writing an essay on the topic of the ozone layer can be both challenging and rewarding. The
difficulty lies in the need to strike a balance between scientific accuracy and readability for a
broader audience. Understanding the complex scientific concepts related to ozone depletion and
the ozone layer's role in protecting life on Earth is crucial.
Researching the current state of the ozone layer, its importance, and the various factors
contributing to its depletion requires delving into scientific literature and staying updated on
environmental studies. The challenge also lies in presenting this information in a coherent and
engaging manner, making it accessible to readers with varying levels of familiarity with the
subject.
Moreover, crafting a compelling thesis statement that conveys the essay's main argument about
the significance of preserving the ozone layer adds another layer of complexity. The essay should
not only educate the reader but also advocate for environmental responsibility and actions to
address ozone depletion.
The task becomes more intricate when considering the global context, as international efforts,
treaties, and policies play a crucial role in ozone layer protection. Balancing the scientific,
environmental, and political aspects requires careful consideration to ensure a well-rounded and
persuasive essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the ozone layer involves navigating through scientific
complexities, presenting information in an accessible manner, and advocating for environmental
stewardship. The difficulty lies in harmonizing these elements to create an impactful and
informative piece that encourages readers to think critically about the importance of preserving
our planet.

Reading an Organization s Culture: General Electric (GE)
Introduction
Every business has its own set of values and beliefs that make up an organizational
culture that is unique to each specific business. _Organizational Culture_ is a
complex set of basic underlying assumptions and deeply held beliefs shared by all
members of the group that operate at a preconscious level and drive in important
ways the behavior of individuals in the organizational context (Strategy Glossary,
2006). GE s organizational culture is considered one of high ethical standard in the
corporate world. According to The Age of Ethics (2007) _GE now has one of the
best ethics compliance programs in existence_, says Larry ... Show more content on

Robbins, S. (2005) describes six variables that are routinely evident in customer
responsive cultures like GE.
Type of Employees: outgoing and friendly
Low Formalization: freedom to meet changing customer service requirements
Extension of Low Formalization: widespread use of empowerment i.e. decision
discretion to do what is necessary to please the customer.
Good Listening Skills: listen to and understand messages sent by the customer
Role Clarity: Service employees act as _boundary spanners_ between the organization
and its customers
Organizational Citizenship Behavior: employees are conscience of customers needs
and go above and beyond the call of duty to satisfy a customer s needs
GE has been able to build such a strong and loyal customer base by meeting each of
the six variables described by Robbins. Variable one, type of employee, is met
through GE s efforts to provide a diverse work environment. In fact, GE was named
among the top 40 best companies for diversity by Black Enterprise Magazine
(Employees, 2007). Variables two and three, low formalization and extension of low
formalization, is met through GE s efforts to provide employees the freedom to
become closer to their customers while finding new operational efficiencies and
ways to work toward customer service (Leadership, 2007). Variable four, good

Nasa s Travel To Mars
Reality may finally be stranger than fiction. Or at least science fiction inspired by the
book and subsequent blockbuster The Martian. In the book, Astronaut Mark Watney
grew potatoes to survive on Mars. NASA is now attempting to recreate fiction with
the assistance of the Lima based International Potato Center. And Russia may not be
far behind in the great potato space race of the 22nd century.
NASA Putting Potential Mars Spuds to the Test
Researchers have chosen the Pampas de La Joya Desert in Peru as their test site. It
is one of the driest places on the planet humans presently call home. It is also a
section of the Atacama Desert, a vast plot of desert similar to Mars like conditions.
And more importantly, Mars like soil. NASA plans on planting 65 varieties of
viable spuds in more than 1,300 pounds of soil. NASA has been experimenting with
a variety of plausible food sources for Mars. If successful, they plan on transporting
potatoes to Mars in special refrigerated tubes. ... Show more content on

A one way trip to Mars is estimated to take about 18 months. However, Russia
proposes a shorter itinerary. While NASA is growing potatoes in Peru, Russia has
developed a plan to revolutionize space travel. They have been experimenting with a
nuclear engine for space travel. Other Mars enthusiasts like Elon Musk plans to
launch humans toward the Red Planet within a decade. Space One, a Dutch non
profit is planning a permanent Mars colony to be in place in roughly ten years time

A Comparison Of Frederick Douglass And Realism
Realism. It is a word that speaks for itself. It doesn t sweat the details or exaggerate
the truth, for what it is. It is a word that sees the bigger picture that others might
not. Realism was a reaction to romanticism, after the events of the Civil War. It
gave signs, such as photography, biographies and Daily News articles, down to
earth/slice of life genred stories, and other roots that told our society that told
everyone that life isn t exactly what romanticism portrays. It even got us to realize
that not all individuals felt equal to society, despite their previous history at the time
saying All men were created equal. Former slaves and women alike, such as
Frederick Douglass and Kate Chopin were deprived of knowing what being in control
of their own lives really felt like. From having to be in conflict with others and
themselves to the irony behind it all, they both share similarities in their work to
prove it.
Douglass, the author of My Bondage and My Freedom , a story that looks back on
his early life as a young child during slavery, states many of what most of those like
him in slavery would think. Douglass wanted to be treated as fair as those above
him in society, and be accepted for who he was. He longed to be as free to be as
literarily inclined as he wanted to be, along with the white division of individuals.
Throughout his life he has been, confronted by one of his masters and a few other
unmentioned people in his life for having such a
D. W. Griffith s Broken Blossoms
D.W. Griffith was a filmmaker that came into the spotlight in the early 20th century.
He is known for his expressive style and controversial topics, but his moralist
Christian Values and Victorian view of women made its way into the subtext of his
films. Touching on themes like innocence and the matronly roles of women, he
developed an archetype for the women in his movies, and Lillian Gish fit it.
Living in rural Kentucky and under the advisement of his father who was a
Confederate Army colonel, played an important role in shaping his romantic war
stories and black and white view of human existence and history. At the age of 10,
Griffiths father passed away forcing him to become the man of the house and care for
his mother and sister. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the world is a flawed place, Griffith did not hesitate to bring the indecencies of
reality to light in his films. Broken Blossoms is one of his films that is a
representation of cruelty and injustice against the innocent. Lucy played by Lillian
Gish is a woman who meets a man who is falling in love with her, but she is
preoccupied with protecting herself from her abusive alcoholic father and must
find a way to pursue love while remaining in safety. While other themes are present
in his films, cruelty and injustice are a recurring warning that are present in the
majority of his films. His view of the world, and cry for justice is apparent in The
Birth of a Nation, where racism and romanticism are at odds with one another.
Overall, his approach to life is highlighted in the theme of family. Griffith favors
telling stories about family united, torn apart, destroyed, and threatened. Within this
theme he draws on emphasis on rape and control over women. The majority of his
films were a series of scenes that follow in this order: a tranquil bourgeois domestic
situation is upset, daring measures are undertaken in response, and tranquility is
restored. The best example of this series is found in his film The Adventures of
Dollie filmed in 1908. Dollie is kidnapped, a rescue party is organized to save her,
and after being involved in multiple dangerous situations, Dollie is eventually
I Think Ktm Dirt Bikes Are Better Than Yamaha Dirt Bike
I think KTM dirt bikes are better than Yamaha dirt bikes. KTM might not sell as
many in the United States compared to Yamaha, but if you look at an international
race you will see that 90% of the athletes ride KTMs. The KTM is built in Austria,
where the Yamahas are built in Japan. Both companies build both track and trail
bikes, and two strokes and four strokes. KTMs are famous for their crazy powerfrom
their two stroke line. Yamaha is known for producing good, reliable four stroke
bikes. KTM was founded back in 1934 by Hans Trunkenpolz but didn t start large
production and sales of motorcycles until 1981. Yamaha was founded in 1955 by a
group of people from Japan, they also produce ATVs, boats, and sailboats. Yamaha

The KTM also comes equipped with a self adjusting hydraulic clutch that works
amazing, the clutch is very smooth and powerful. Now compare it to the Yamaha s
old school cable clutch, which is relatively smooth, but can sometimes get hung up
in the cable housing, or the cable gets stretched out and needs to be replaced often.
The KTM comes stock with billet hubs, these are amazing hubs that are super
smooth rolling and relatively low maintenance. The reason that I like the KTM
better than the Yamaha is because I have both brand bikes. I ride the KTM the
most because I like the way it feels and the massive amount of power behind it. It is
a fast, nimble bike great for both motocross and enduro. I have also worked on
both bikes and can say that the KTM is far easier to work on. The Yamaha is still a
good bike, but the KTM is just better in my opinion. The Yamaha is kind of an old
bike now; they haven t changed the frame or the engine since 2006 when they did
a whole makeover to the bike. The suspension has had some tuning in the recent
years, they upgraded to SSS suspension and added some wider foot pegs. The
biggest thing that they upgraded for this year were the graphics that were looking
kind of old. Some people will argue that the Yamaha is a bit more reliable than the
KTM is, and I will have to agree with that. Since the Yamaha is an older bike, they
have some of the bugs worked out of it and the
Summary Of A Life Full Of Byron
A life full of regret by Byron
Byron provides a pessimistic point of view of his life in this poem. He is
lamenting about his unpopularity at home, his grief, and his wasted life. His death
seems to be the only thing on his mind even though he is only 36 which makes this
poem very depressing and worrisome. He has given up on life and is ready for death
at his young age. He writes as though there is nothing in his life that is a cause for
happiness or joy to be exalted. An example of this is when he writes:
My days are in the yellow leaf;
The flowers and fruits of love are gone;
The worm, the canker, and the grief
Are mine alone! (lines 5 8).
Byron uses this lines to narrate that he is coming towards the end of his life and he
has no tangible relationship to show for it. He also states how no one would
probably miss him when he dies and he seems to have just given up, and think life
is pointless and only more painful. In this poem Byron is also very full of regret, he
is mourning time past and he is wishing he could go back to the life he had before
in his youth. He seems extremely regretful of how he lived his life. According to
him there is nothing left to lose. He is very pessimistic about everything he had and
he maintains how he has never found any joy. He seems to think death is better
alternative for him, like death is going to give him some honor he never had in life.
An example of his suicidal thought when he writes:
If thou regrett st thy youth, why live?
The land of honorable death
Is here: up to the field, and give
Away thy breath! (lines 33 36).
Byron sounds very suicidal in this poem and his overall tone is extremely
negative. Nothing seems to have any joy. Instead, everything is depressing and
pessimistic. The reason for this is because Byron has no hope. Life has no meaning
according to his worldview and death is an end. Byron is also using his life
although wasted, to motivate his readers to live their best life hence they are not
filled with regret like his, when nearing the end of their life.
In this poem Byron places great emphasis on love and compassion, at the beginning
he makes it known that he does not have a companion by his side. Byron writer has
greatly desired a love in his
Negative Consequences Of Foreign Direct Investment
NAFTA supporters, on the other hand, argue that foreign direct investment in
Mexico has been higher after NAFTA, but it must be recognised that it also has had
a number of negative consequences. One of the most important negative
consequences is that the flow of foreign investment has been focused on the
creation of companies producing goods or services directly exported to the USA
(maquiladoras) (Ruiz 2015: 44). Investment flows have been generated primarily to
produce goods or services for the USA; this type of foreign direct investmentis
vertically integrated, it is fuelled by low trade costs given the unskilled and cheap
workforce, it is a type of investment in which developed countries use developing
countries as a re export platform or as leverage in the search for new markets, creating
economic dependency relationships (Calderon and Hernandez 2011: 114 116).
Another consequence is that domestic industry has deteriorated by imported inputs
and competition from foreign direct investment, due to the displacement of local
companies that were unable to compete with multinational corporations, and thus
generating job loss. Another important negative consequence to consider is that the
money of foreign investment has led directly to the wealthiest regions of Mexico,
since they are the ones who have the education, skilled labour, transport infrastructure
and necessary communications to facilitate product export to the USA, which has
intensified disparities and inequalities
Colors Of Deceit In The Great Gatsby Essay
Colors of Deceit in The Great Gatsby The novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, sends the message to Americans that outward appearances can be
deceptive. Fitzgerald saw that America had no identity and blamed it on Americans
because of everyone s constant effort to be seen as something that they are not. He
uses the characters and their past as a way to expose America s misleading
appearances and colors to emphasize the specific things that are being covered in
American society. Fitzgerald uses the colors white, gold, yellow, blue, and green, to
teach America that there is no such thing as an American identity because of
deceiving appearances that they have created. The color white is one of the clearest
examples of deceivery in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Gatsby is not old money like Daisy, and does not see the difference
between him and her. Gatsby s bigger purchases like his car and his house are both
very flashy and ostentatious, which is not the way of old money. Gatsby s car is
bright yellow and makes a statement, unlike Tom, Daisy s husband s car, which is
blue. The fact that Gatsby s car is yellow also proves that he does not see the
difference between old money and new money. Gold and it s display is one of the
strongest differences between old money and new money that creates the division
of classiness and flashiness. Clearly, Gatsby misinterprets the meaning of the color
yellow and equivalates it with gold, which leads him to lie he is old money when
in fact he is new money. The color blue is another clear example of the theme of
deceptive appearances. The color blue represents depression, unhappiness, and
loneliness. Gatsby s first piece of wealth is a blue coat given to him by Dan Cody,
signifying the beginning of his life as a rich person. In addition, Gatsby s blue
lawn, and blue garden, where he hosts his extravagant parties reveals his sadness
and loneliness everytime Daisy does not show. All of this blue represents an aspect
of Gatsby s personality and identity that he tries to hide. Gatsby is known by the
public because of his extravagant parties even though he does not attend them.
Because of this, everyone speculates on the real identity of Gatsby. Gatsby has
worked hard his entire

Anatomical Theory Of Disease Essay
In this paper I am going to discuss the differences between the Humoral concept of
disease, the anatomical theory of disease, the germ theory of disease and the
differences between each theory. I am also going to look at the historical significance
of these theories and how they apply to health and wellness in today s health care.
The humoral theory comes from an ancient Greek theory that states that the human
body is composed of four basic humors. The Humoral theory is derived from the
word humor, but in this context, means fluid . The Humoral theory is related to the
theory of the earth and the four elements. These elements are better known as earth,
fire, water and air. The balance in these earthly elements allows the earth... Show

The fundamental concept of this theory states that microorganisms can invade the
body and cause certain diseases or even death. Before this theory was accepted
many people believed that a disease was a punishment for a person s evil behavior
not a medical problem. These three theories differ because they all covered
different barriers when it came to treating and understanding diseases. The
Humoral theory began with the four elements and the anatomical theory allowed
us to take a deeper look into the functioning of the bodies systems. This helped us
to learn what was happening in the body, in the body systems and in the organs.
Without these two studies we would not have come to the Germ Theory. Even
though each theory is different in concept each theory was important and we
would not have been able to progress along to the next theory. If we would not have
had the germ theory we would not have discovered the need for vaccines or
discovered antiseptics. These theories also allowed physicians to learn to look at
diseases on a micro (small scale) instead of just a macro scale or big picture. I feel
that these theories have led to significant changes in health care over the years.
These theories have allowed scientist to discover not only how to cure some disease
but also how to prevent diseases from spreading. Scientists were able to develop
vaccines, antiseptics, create personal protective equipment and enabled the public
Workforce Flexibility
Topic: Flexibility within the workforce is essential to maintain a competitive
advantage. Discuss this statement with reference to an organization of your choice 1.
Introduction:
Human resource is one of the most important factors that decides the survival and
success of a company. Like every department in a company, Human resource
management needs to modify frequently during time to adapt to the continuous
changes in external environment. The external changes are as Human Resources and

The first definition mentions external environment to adapt. The second one declares
the maximization of productivity. Both are important points. By combining the two
definitions, the fullest meaning about workforce flexibility and its advantages will be
drawn out.
3. Model explanation: Figure 1 Atkinson model workforce flexibility
To reflect the workforce flexibility, Atkinson (1894) came up with the model which
also comprises ways in which flexibility can be shown. Flexibility can be seen on
part time jobs. This is applied for many employees being students at school in both
Vietnam and other countries. This kind of employee need time for studying and still
consider them to be able to contribute to labor force for extra money. Part time job
is one of the choices when employers only have to spend fewer hours compared to
full time jobs of working (Dutta, n.d). Or employees can seek for job sharing
workplace in which 2 people share the same job/task. Job sharing is basically a form
of part time work that provides staff with the equivalent of one full time employee
while giving the job sharing employees the ability to keep their careers on track
while allowing more time for family responsibilities or other activities (Entrepreneur,
n.d). Working under these kinds of jobs gives employees enough time to balance all
their commitments. In other words,
The Tupac Amaru Terrorism Movement
Terrorism has been a huge issue since old days. Today, terrorism huge that
everyone should be aware of all the harm it can do when other countries disagree
with our own and attack. Every country forms its own organization to achieve
political gain for its own purpose and goal in the way they perform their

replace what it saw as bourgeois democracy with New Democracy and pure
communism. These terrorists left thousands injured and created thousands of
orphans and widows, leaving the population in misery the Shining Path s guerrilla

The European Slave Trade And Intra African Slavery
The European slave trade and intra African slavery began with different intentions
and goals held in mind. Although, they also shared similar aspects and ideals
shown through how they functioned and were run. Intra African slavery began
before the European slave trade came to exist; this unpopular fact shows the
beginning of such a gruesome and detrimental act began by the people of Africa,
which, later in time, is what fuels and strengthens the European slave trade. African
slaves were once captured by tribes of Africa, then working for and obeying
whomever owned them. Though, they only had to serve as a slave for a given
amount of time, usually only a couple years, and were then able to return home to
their tribe and family to live a normal life. They were to enter under the manumission
contract which allowed the enslaved to work until his or her can pay for their
freedom, usually an agreed amount between them and their owner. This function of
slaverywas due to Africa and its people only using/ seeing slavery as a temporary
solution in order to build their economy and villages/cities. This is one of the main
differences between the European and intra African slave trade, which set them
greatly apart. The Europeans saw slavery and slaves as a permanent way of life for
them, to live a long hard life of servitude, making the most of their money and the
slaves always being in debt to them. Each trade, the trans Atlantic and trans Saharan,
worked differently and were
How Did Lenin React To The Bolsheviks
The Russian Civil War of 1918 was the cumulating of the Russian monarchial
government s slow reformation to institute civil reforms and freedoms for the
intelligentsia, the creation and subsequent closing of the Constituent Assembly by the
Socialist Revolutionary Party, the embarrassing Treaty of Brest Litovsk, and the
Czarist support of the nobility, who were stripped of their land after the Bolsheviks
coup. These emotions came to a head when a coalition of multiple Russian political
parties joined together to topple the Bolshevik power control, led by Vladimir Lenin.
The power that Lenin and the Bolsheviks had held for little more than a year had
come under attack. The Bolsheviks were now faced with another war in which the

The most dangerous threat to the Bolsheviks was the White Movement, which was
formed in the aftermath of Lenin signing the Treaty of Brest Litovsk. The treaty
ceded Russian territories in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, and part of
Ukraine to Germany, as well as forced the demobilization of the Russian military.
This humiliation brought much disillusionment of Lenin s direction of Russia, and
while Bolsheviks achieved an end to their part in World War I to consolidate
Russia, they were nevertheless painted as anti Russian , for giving up so
dishonorably. The White Movement was initially formed by the Menshevik party in
opposition to Lenin, but grew to include Tsarist forces, members of the Cadet party,
and Socialist revolutionaries. Whereas the Bolsheviks were a single entity united
under Lenin, the opposing coalition of the White Movement was composed of
several political and ideological party goals, and while the Whites were led by former

Voting Age To 18
I strongly believe that we should keep the voting age at 18. At the age of 18 you
are an adult and you are capable of keeping up with politics and making your own
decision on who you beleive would be the best president. Changing the voting age
to 16 is dangerous becuase 16 year olds are easily influenced I believe if we gave 16
year olds the chance to vote they would not understand the importance of votinglike
an adult would. I know personally that the younger age range does not care to vote at
all. When I turned 18 I did not vote and neither did any of my friends. We did not
keep up with politics so we believed it was not fair for us to vote. Now that I am 20
years old and I do keep up with our politicans I do vote and I take
Pet Censorship
Dogs, cats and fish are three of the most common types of pets found in households
around the world, however pet ownership is an awesome and time consuming
responsibility that should not be entered into lightly. Therefore, it is imperative that
each potential pet parent consider their own personality, schedule, willingness to
train, and financial status, to accurately discern which animal is appropriate for them,
before bringing home a new pet. Additionally, as each species offers varying perks,
care and time should be taken to research which animal would be an accurate fit.
For example, a dog would be a great companion for someone who resides alone, but
desires the presence of another; they have been known to greet their owner(s) at the

Mandatory Rotation of Auditors
Abstract
In light of a number of high profile corporate failures during the first half of 2001, a
number of studies have been performed to address the impact of mandatory rotation
of audit firms to ensure the appropriate level of В‘independence of auditors. Majority
of studies conclude that the detrimental effects of firm rotation on the quality of the
audit work by far outweigh its positive effects as a safeguard against various
independence and quality threats.
Frequent changes of audit firms, whether resulting from mandatory rotation or
otherwise, introduce threats to independence and operational difficulties that make
audit failure more likely. Many studies have involved practitioners opinions on this
issue, which have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arguments В‘For В‘Against Mandatory rotation of Audit firms
The arguments for and against mandatory rotation of audit firms fundamentally
revolves around the issues of auditor independence, audit quality and increased audit
costs. Compromising either auditor independence or audit quality will adversely
effect the accuracy of audits performed and hence effect the shareholders future.
The significance of mandatory rotation of audit firms on an auditor s independence
and quality of audit can be evaluated on a large number of factors, such as length of
time an individual has served, the role of the individual, the size and structure of the
firm, the nature of the engagement and whether the client is a public interest entity or
not.
There are numerous threats to the independence of auditors which have been
identified in the multiple studies and discussions both in Australia (such as the
Ramsay report, CLERP 9 Paper) and internationally by IFAC, the European

players; with many of them having worldwide operations. There are many large
airline chains such as BA, Cathay Pacific, and Lufthansa. Furthermore, a large

opportunities to large chains. Merging in the airline industry would strengthen

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Managing Big Data
Question 1:
Compare and contrast this case with the material in this chapter on Big Data. That is,
given the disadvantages of over retained data, how should an organization (NAIT)
manage Big Data?
Answer:
Organizations end up retaining a lot of data over the years and will continue to do
so as they expand and grow. This is true for organizations such as NAIT where
every year they see more and more students while also expanding their campus with
new buildings which require the storage of big data. In order for NAIT to manage
their data, they must make sure that they do not over retain too much data as it will
most likely cost them in the future.
Some of the disadvantages to over retaining data for NAIT would be unnecessary
data storage costs and data migration, potential legal costs, and hidden costs. NAIT is
continuously expanding its campus and with every new building, they will have to
perform data migration to store information into some of the computers being
installed which will cost time and money. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Organizations use Big Data to have a bargaining power of customers by using
buyer s history to anticipate the needs of those buyers or products or to find a
suitable replacement for the product on the website being used, to secure a purchase
before the buyer changes their mind. Big data can also be used to increase margins
through price discrimination. Big Data can provide you with insights into the raw
material prices paid by your supplier. Organizations control new entrants by tying
customers to their product and services making it expensive for them to switch
suppliers. Big Data is also used to identify and eliminate inefficiencies. It does this by
making data more transparent. Large organizations relentless use of data to drive
efficiency makes it difficult for new entrants to match
Case Study Vicarious Trauma
Brief Description Vicarious Trauma, Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, and Resiliency
The demands of today s healthcare providers and mental health workers, has become
challenging due to the complexities and mass influx of mental health disorders.
Although some of these problems may seem small when compare to trauma and
crisis. The population affected by trauma and crisis can be challenging to those that
work directly with this population. Conversely, many workers of this population
suffer from burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. Burnout is defined as
of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that produces a lack of interest in
everyday activities, and work related constant stress and trauma. Compassion fatigue
is when workers no longer have feelings of compassion, due to exhibiting on going
empathy (James Gilliland, 2017). Counselors that suffer from Vicarious Trauma, is
when human service workers are affected by trauma responses in caring for these
individuals, and they start to feel traumatized concordling. Lastly the feeling of
Resiliency when counselors, physicians, social workers, can go back to work
without any negative feelings of burnout, fatigue or feeling traumatized. In the
following case study Anna is experiencing nightmares about being sexually assaulted

Theme Of To Build A Fire
To Build a Fire begins with a man going on a Yukon trail. He gets to a layer of ice.
He walks on the ice to test it, and then he falls through. He then tries to make a fire.
It fails and he tries again, but stull fails. He attempts to run to the camp. He is not
able to and dies. One theme from To build a fire is to listen to experienced people.
The first way the theme is developed is the man doesn t listen to the old timer at
sulfur creek. In a paragraph in the beginning, he says the old timer told him not to
ever go alone on a trail in below 50 degrees weather. It is dangerous to go alone. He
says you should have a partner at least that way you would not be alone. He does not
listen. The next way the theme is developed
Examples Of Metonymy In The Quran
The Quran is the masterpiece of Arabic language from many standpoints such as
linguistics and stylistics. The vocabulary, style, eloquence, effectiveness, and the rich
poetic rhythm of this masterpiece, which lead to its linguistic and stylistic
uniqueness, are the miracles of a Miracle, i.e. the Quran. As Arberry in the
introduction of his book the Koran interpreted states, the Quran is neither poetry nor
prose but a unique fusion of both (x).
Among the various rhetorical devices used in the Holy Qur an, metonymy is the one
which is the prime focus of this paper.
Metonymy, etymologically speaking, comes from the Greek word metonumia which
means a change of name (Li 1998). Instead of referring to something directly, we can

This substitution is conditioned by the existence of a contiguity relation between the
literal and figurative meanings and the existence of an implicit clue indicating that
the literal meaning is not intended.
The notion of contiguity is at core of most definitions of metonymy. Traditional
approaches locate contiguity relationships in the world of reality, whereas cognitive
approaches locate them at the conceptual level. Lakoff and Johnson (30) think of
contiguity in terms of the whole range of conceptual associations commonly related
to an expression. Lakoff (65) was the first who accounted metonymic contiguity
within the framework of idealized cognitive models (ICM). The ICM concept is meant
to include not only people s encyclopedic knowledge of particular domain but also
the cultural models they are part of.
The view of metonymy reflected in standard definitions tend to describe metonymy
as a figure of speech that consists in using the name of one thing for that of
something else with which it is associated. The cognitive view of metonymy makes

Alcohol Impaired Driving Crashes Of The United States
Alcohol has been around for years. There has even been a point in time when it was
safer than water. As time passed the drink evolved and so did the problems that
followed. Addiction, severe health problems, violence, rage, crimes, and even death
have been the outcomes to those who fall victim to the beverage. Although the simple
solution would be to just ban alcoholall together, I believe adding a system that puts a
regulation that can help limit the negatives things caused by it.
Many people who drink may experience lack in basic motor skills even though they
believe that they re fine. The ability to walk a straight line, stand, or even operate a
vehicle becomes a matter of life and death. Alcohol impaired driving crashes account
for approximately one third of all crash fatalities in the United States (Jewett, Shults,
Banerjee, and Bergen 1). Percentage wise this along makes up about thirty three
percent. That number will continue to rise unless action is taken. Jewett, Shults,
Banerjee, and Bergen states, An estimated 4.2 million adults reported at least one
alcohol impaired driving episode in the preceding 30 days, resulting in an estimated
121 million episodes and a national rate of 505 episodes per 1,000 population
annually (1). This is just the United States alone and the number of alcohol related
incidents is already in the millions. According the blood alcohol concentration the
legally drunk limit is .08 grams. After that number is reached the person is no

was first discovered in the United States in 1989 and has now become a major
threat to ~31 species of Opuntia cactus, nine of which are endemic and six of which
have been designated as rare or endangered. Since the initial finding of C. cactorum

are compatible with all 3GPP handheld devices and help improve the data speed and
coverage in the areas where there are slow speeds and poor coverage. g) Femtocells
can not only work efficiently with the existing network infrastructure by extending
the cellular macro network but also can serve as primary network if sufficient number
of Femtocells are provided in the region thus reducing the number of macrocells
reducing equipment cost and complexity

Gulliver s Search for an Identity Essay
Gulliver s Travels is a novel that touches on many subjects. One of the lesser points

on his many journeys. Upon entering any of these strange foreign lands, Gulliver
makes it a point to learn the language. This is because knowing the language of a

Analysis of The Cask of Amontillado Essay
Analysis of The Cask of Amontillado
In The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, the dark side of human nature is
illustrated through the character of Montresor and his victim, Fortunato. Montresor is
a manipulative and vengeful person whom is obsessed with the downfall of
Fortunato. Through the acts, words, and the thoughts of Montresor, one is able to see
him carry out his plan for revenge.
Montresor s actions lend to his vengeful and manipulative nature. He lures Fortunato
into the catacombs of his home to carry out his plans to kill Fortunato. In the first
step of his plan, he boosts Fortunato s ego by saying that Luchesi was almost as
worthy a judge of wine as he. Then Montresor tricks Fortunato into believing that

see that Montresor thinks that Fortunato has wronged him. He had a weak point this

This line shows that Montresor s plan was well thought out. There is not any
indication of what Fortunato thinks about Montresor. It can only be assumed that he

the last moment, before the last brick is laid, that Fortunato believes this is all a joke.
Ha! Ha! Ha! He! He! He! a very good joke, indeed an excellent jest. Montresor is
successful in his plan for vengeance. He succeeds in having Fortunato follow him
into the catacombs and with great ease, had him up against the wall and shackled.
Then tier by tier, Montresor constructed Fortunato s tomb of bricks around him.
When Montresor called out to him, he heard nothing and thus his plan was a success.

Butler s Conception Of Drag
Upon its release in 1990, Jennie Livingstone s documentary Paris is Burning elicited
both accolades and criticism from a number of renowned gender theorists. Notably
among them, philosopher Judith Butler and social activist bell hooks take
oppositional stances on the film, with the former writing in favour of the
documentary, and the latter strongly criticizing it. In my discussion of these two
theorists positions, I will focus exclusively on how each individual conceives of the
performance of drag and how it was portrayed in the film. In regards to this issue, I
am in concurrence with Judith Butler s conception of drag, as I find hooks argument
to be overly simplistic and reductive. On the subject of drag as portrayed in Paris is
Burning bell hooks and Judith Butler have divergent opinions. Operating at the nexus
of genderand race, bell hooks argues that drag, in general, has been used historically
as a way for straight black men to gain power in the white supremacist, capitalist

Advantages Of Double Shower Heads
Double shower heads have revolutionized how people shower today. A double
shower head is basically a shower that has two heads, allowing water to flow
separately from the two shower heads at the same time. It is also known as a dual
shower head. The shower can allow two people to take shower simultaneously hence
convenient for couples. It also allows more water to flow as compared to the single
showerhead. Some double shower heads combine both a fixed and a handheld
shower head. This allows one to choose which shower to use from the two to use
hence giving options. Different manufacturers have come up with double shower
heads in order to exploit the available market. If you want to have a nice shower,

It is convenient for partners. Couples find this double shower head helpful because it
can allow them to shower together. Spending time together with a loved one in the
shower is something interesting and exciting. Every couple looks forward to that
time when they can be alone somewhere and just have a nice time together. This
double shower head comes in handy and it will surely help couples to bond, nature
their love and relationship.
2. Time saving. The fact that it allows two people to take shower at ago, means less
time is taken in the shower by the two if they shower together. Also, more water
flows from this double shower head which makes it easier to shower and reduce
time taken in the shower. This is crucial especially on those mornings when you had
a nice romp and you wake up late, you have to rush. The double shower head can
save you.
3. It gives options. This is possible with the double shower head that combines both
the fixed and handheld heads. One is at liberty to choose from either of the two. The
handheld shower head allows one to splash water to the parts of the body that are not
easy to reach, another plus for the double shower head.
4. One can use it to massage themselves. One just has to set the desired pressure,
point it to the part of the body that needs a massage and the shower will do the job.
This way, your partner will not have to be stressed of giving you a massage and you
may not need to visit a massage

newspaper is unbiased. Everything has bias whether it is subtle or not so subtle. I
have bias for almost everything. I have bias for stores, perfume, clothes, shoes,
food, and even laundry detergent. I make decisions based on bias. I choose to watch
CNN because it has a Liberal bias. I read The New York Times because I share the
same opinions as the editors. I watch The Today Show because I value the opinions
of the cast. Without knowing it, bias is a huge component in how we live our lives.
Bias plays a part in what we watch, listen and even eat. The world is made of bias

Gender Depiction in Horror Films Essay
Gender Depiction in Horror Films
There has been a large variety of horror films produced throughout the last fifty
years. People are always going to be frightened and scared by different types of
horror films. But, what type of horror film scares more people, and were men or
women more frightened by these horror films? Each one of the horror films had its
own agenda to frighten its audience using several different methods of horror. Some
of these methods were more so directed at the female audience than the male
audience. Most horror movies show the female as being vulnerable, because in real
life females are defenseless against monsters.
Are women portrayed as being defenseless?

It all goes back to the Perils of Pauline? If you have a haunted house and you have a
woman walking around with a candelabrum, you fear more for her than you would
for a husky man? (Clover, p.77). This is a good example of how making women
instead of men defenseless in horror films more entertaining. Even if the women are
displayed as being more defenseless than men most of the time, in some cases there
will be someone that ends up saving them in the end.
Are women singled out to be killed more in slasher films?
The first big stalker film stalker film to come out was John Carpenter?s Halloween
in 1978. Halloween took a reported $325,000 to be made and grossed over $80
million world wide up until 1987. This gave Halloween one of the highest
proportional returns in film history (Waller, p. 87). The first film to copy its
narrative and cinematic structure was Friday the 13th . I believe that younger
community and women are the target market for stalker films like Halloween.
Vera Dika writes, ??R rated films were frequented by adolescents between the ages
of 12 and 17, and these films of excessive violence against women found an
audience that was 55 percent female? (Waller, p. 87). Horror movies portray women
as vulnerable a lot of the time. Especially in slasher movies, women are often
incapable of defending themselves against a stronger horror film type villain. It is
almost like they are waiting to be victimized.

Essay on Does an Architect’s Ego Get in the Way of...
Does an architect s ego get in the way of sensible design?
Does it? Does an architect have an ego? Well what is ego for that matter?
Ego: A person s sense of self esteem or self importance (oxford Dictionary) this is a
very tame definition, most people will agree when saying that the definition of ego
is in fact the arrogant part of you that in some ways makes you think you are
superior or the less cynical of us would like to say an ego is the autopilot of the mind,
it s the thing that one does out of conditioned reflex as a response to any situation,
it is biased to childhood and professional experience, an ego can be flexible and
adapt to its surroundings., or in many cases I doesn t, which gives way to the

He describes the movements that spread due to the members of Bauhaus fleeing from
Nazi Germany, how it affected America and the future architects approach to design.
Firstly what he puts across is the minds sets of the architects or as they were called
in the time White Gods this alone I believe could have done some significant
damage. This notion was made clear when reading about the worker housing
exhibition project (Weissenhof Werbund Project) undertaken by Mies Van De
Rohe, Le Corbusier, Stam brothers and Victor Bourgeois along with 11 other
German big names. The brief was simply to design worker housing, but these
architects all had an agenda, to obliterate bourgeois buildings for good, to simply
out it. They designed in white, grey and in straight lines, as the book describes,
How did worker housing look? It looked non bourgeois within an inch of its life...
(From Bauhaus To Our House, Tome Wolfe, Page 31) clean cut rooms built to their
approval was then handed over to the workers, they had loud opinions about it!
Simply described as a minimalist cube with grey and white for a burst of colour. The
workers desperately tried to make the rooms more comfortable and more homey . The
need for user consultation was completely disregarded, the workers were thought as

Symbolism In Hills Like White Elephants
Subconsciously authors tend to write their personal life experiences in their writer.
Just as a psychologist would analyze a patient by asking them questions. With brief
research of the author and the use of their story, one may analyze them just like a
psychologist would. Hills like white Elephants by Ernest Hemingway uses
symbolism to demonstrate important life decisions and the consequences behind
them. He mentions the phrase white elephants, a white elephant is interpreted as a
gift that is given to someone, but not just any gift it s a gift that is not wanted and
hard to dispose of. For instance, if given an expensive car such as a Lamborghini,
and the responsibilities falls on you to pay the insurance and upkeep on it. Knowing
how expensive the insurance will be you know you would not be able to afford it it
is then when the car becomes the white elephant forcing you to sell the car.... Show

Moral Conflict in the The Crucible Essay examples
Moral Conflict in the The Crucible Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, is a great
portrayal of humans and their struggles. This play takes place in the 1690 s in
Salem, a small Puritan community based on a rigid social system, where an
outbreak of rumors claiming witchcraft contaminated the small village. The witch
hysteria was initiated by a group of young girls (headed by Abigail Williams,) who
were afraid of being accused of swaying from the strict regulations. This caused
conflict among the people of the community and ultimately resulted in absolute
chaos. I am going to write about three of the main characters, Reverend Hale, John
Proctor and Mary Warren, who have some of the most intense internal and... Show

Here begins the Reverend s inner turmoil. With scrutiny, he looks at himself and
tries to figure out which way to go. Should he continue with what he is doing and
listen to Judge Danforth or should he listen to his conscience? He does try a feeble
attempt to talk to Danforth and explain how the unjust the court actions are, but
again, his inner struggle pulls him back to a more moderate stand. Hale then
decides to persuade the wrongly accused to confess witchcraft. At least this will
save them from death by hanging. He preaches perjury to the people, even though
this is also against their religion. Hale s principles were ridden with guilt and
sadness because of his struggle with himself. Not only does Hale question himself,
and Danforth, but he questions his religion. Near the end of Act IV, Hale tells
Elizabeth that following religion is not worth it if religion can justify the death of
so many innocent people without credible evidence. This is the ultimate reproach,
and Hale ends up leaving after the hangings, with the weight of 19 innocent people
(including the good names of Rebecca Nurse, Martha Corey and John Proctor,)
dead, which rests somewhat on his shoulders. John Proctor a farmer and village
commoner is similarly faced with an inner turmoil. He, as well as Giles Corey and
Rebecca Nurse became very prominent people and were respected in Salem. Because
of his role in the

  • 4. A Comparison Of Frederick Douglass And Realism Realism. It is a word that speaks for itself. It doesn t sweat the details or exaggerate the truth, for what it is. It is a word that sees the bigger picture that others might not. Realism was a reaction to romanticism, after the events of the Civil War. It gave signs, such as photography, biographies and Daily News articles, down to earth/slice of life genred stories, and other roots that told our society that told everyone that life isn t exactly what romanticism portrays. It even got us to realize that not all individuals felt equal to society, despite their previous history at the time saying All men were created equal. Former slaves and women alike, such as Frederick Douglass and Kate Chopin were deprived of knowing what being in control of their own lives really felt like. From having to be in conflict with others and themselves to the irony behind it all, they both share similarities in their work to prove it. Douglass, the author of My Bondage and My Freedom , a story that looks back on his early life as a young child during slavery, states many of what most of those like him in slavery would think. Douglass wanted to be treated as fair as those above him in society, and be accepted for who he was. He longed to be as free to be as literarily inclined as he wanted to be, along with the white division of individuals. Throughout his life he has been, confronted by one of his masters and a few other unmentioned people in his life for having such a
  • 5. D. W. Griffith s Broken Blossoms D.W. Griffith was a filmmaker that came into the spotlight in the early 20th century. He is known for his expressive style and controversial topics, but his moralist Christian Values and Victorian view of women made its way into the subtext of his films. Touching on themes like innocence and the matronly roles of women, he developed an archetype for the women in his movies, and Lillian Gish fit it. Living in rural Kentucky and under the advisement of his father who was a Confederate Army colonel, played an important role in shaping his romantic war stories and black and white view of human existence and history. At the age of 10, Griffiths father passed away forcing him to become the man of the house and care for his mother and sister. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the world is a flawed place, Griffith did not hesitate to bring the indecencies of reality to light in his films. Broken Blossoms is one of his films that is a representation of cruelty and injustice against the innocent. Lucy played by Lillian Gish is a woman who meets a man who is falling in love with her, but she is preoccupied with protecting herself from her abusive alcoholic father and must find a way to pursue love while remaining in safety. While other themes are present in his films, cruelty and injustice are a recurring warning that are present in the majority of his films. His view of the world, and cry for justice is apparent in The Birth of a Nation, where racism and romanticism are at odds with one another. Overall, his approach to life is highlighted in the theme of family. Griffith favors telling stories about family united, torn apart, destroyed, and threatened. Within this theme he draws on emphasis on rape and control over women. The majority of his films were a series of scenes that follow in this order: a tranquil bourgeois domestic situation is upset, daring measures are undertaken in response, and tranquility is restored. The best example of this series is found in his film The Adventures of Dollie filmed in 1908. Dollie is kidnapped, a rescue party is organized to save her, and after being involved in multiple dangerous situations, Dollie is eventually
  • 6. I Think Ktm Dirt Bikes Are Better Than Yamaha Dirt Bike I think KTM dirt bikes are better than Yamaha dirt bikes. KTM might not sell as many in the United States compared to Yamaha, but if you look at an international race you will see that 90% of the athletes ride KTMs. The KTM is built in Austria, where the Yamahas are built in Japan. Both companies build both track and trail bikes, and two strokes and four strokes. KTMs are famous for their crazy powerfrom their two stroke line. Yamaha is known for producing good, reliable four stroke bikes. KTM was founded back in 1934 by Hans Trunkenpolz but didn t start large production and sales of motorcycles until 1981. Yamaha was founded in 1955 by a group of people from Japan, they also produce ATVs, boats, and sailboats. Yamaha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The KTM also comes equipped with a self adjusting hydraulic clutch that works amazing, the clutch is very smooth and powerful. Now compare it to the Yamaha s old school cable clutch, which is relatively smooth, but can sometimes get hung up in the cable housing, or the cable gets stretched out and needs to be replaced often. The KTM comes stock with billet hubs, these are amazing hubs that are super smooth rolling and relatively low maintenance. The reason that I like the KTM better than the Yamaha is because I have both brand bikes. I ride the KTM the most because I like the way it feels and the massive amount of power behind it. It is a fast, nimble bike great for both motocross and enduro. I have also worked on both bikes and can say that the KTM is far easier to work on. The Yamaha is still a good bike, but the KTM is just better in my opinion. The Yamaha is kind of an old bike now; they haven t changed the frame or the engine since 2006 when they did a whole makeover to the bike. The suspension has had some tuning in the recent years, they upgraded to SSS suspension and added some wider foot pegs. The biggest thing that they upgraded for this year were the graphics that were looking kind of old. Some people will argue that the Yamaha is a bit more reliable than the KTM is, and I will have to agree with that. Since the Yamaha is an older bike, they have some of the bugs worked out of it and the
  • 7. Summary Of A Life Full Of Byron A life full of regret by Byron Byron provides a pessimistic point of view of his life in this poem. He is lamenting about his unpopularity at home, his grief, and his wasted life. His death seems to be the only thing on his mind even though he is only 36 which makes this poem very depressing and worrisome. He has given up on life and is ready for death at his young age. He writes as though there is nothing in his life that is a cause for happiness or joy to be exalted. An example of this is when he writes: My days are in the yellow leaf; The flowers and fruits of love are gone; The worm, the canker, and the grief Are mine alone! (lines 5 8). Byron uses this lines to narrate that he is coming towards the end of his life and he has no tangible relationship to show for it. He also states how no one would probably miss him when he dies and he seems to have just given up, and think life is pointless and only more painful. In this poem Byron is also very full of regret, he is mourning time past and he is wishing he could go back to the life he had before in his youth. He seems extremely regretful of how he lived his life. According to him there is nothing left to lose. He is very pessimistic about everything he had and he maintains how he has never found any joy. He seems to think death is better alternative for him, like death is going to give him some honor he never had in life. An example of his suicidal thought when he writes: If thou regrett st thy youth, why live? The land of honorable death Is here: up to the field, and give Away thy breath! (lines 33 36). Byron sounds very suicidal in this poem and his overall tone is extremely negative. Nothing seems to have any joy. Instead, everything is depressing and pessimistic. The reason for this is because Byron has no hope. Life has no meaning according to his worldview and death is an end. Byron is also using his life although wasted, to motivate his readers to live their best life hence they are not filled with regret like his, when nearing the end of their life. In this poem Byron places great emphasis on love and compassion, at the beginning he makes it known that he does not have a companion by his side. Byron writer has greatly desired a love in his
  • 8. Negative Consequences Of Foreign Direct Investment NAFTA supporters, on the other hand, argue that foreign direct investment in Mexico has been higher after NAFTA, but it must be recognised that it also has had a number of negative consequences. One of the most important negative consequences is that the flow of foreign investment has been focused on the creation of companies producing goods or services directly exported to the USA (maquiladoras) (Ruiz 2015: 44). Investment flows have been generated primarily to produce goods or services for the USA; this type of foreign direct investmentis vertically integrated, it is fuelled by low trade costs given the unskilled and cheap workforce, it is a type of investment in which developed countries use developing countries as a re export platform or as leverage in the search for new markets, creating economic dependency relationships (Calderon and Hernandez 2011: 114 116). Another consequence is that domestic industry has deteriorated by imported inputs and competition from foreign direct investment, due to the displacement of local companies that were unable to compete with multinational corporations, and thus generating job loss. Another important negative consequence to consider is that the money of foreign investment has led directly to the wealthiest regions of Mexico, since they are the ones who have the education, skilled labour, transport infrastructure and necessary communications to facilitate product export to the USA, which has intensified disparities and inequalities
  • 9. Colors Of Deceit In The Great Gatsby Essay Colors of Deceit in The Great Gatsby The novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, sends the message to Americans that outward appearances can be deceptive. Fitzgerald saw that America had no identity and blamed it on Americans because of everyone s constant effort to be seen as something that they are not. He uses the characters and their past as a way to expose America s misleading appearances and colors to emphasize the specific things that are being covered in American society. Fitzgerald uses the colors white, gold, yellow, blue, and green, to teach America that there is no such thing as an American identity because of deceiving appearances that they have created. However, Gatsby is not old money like Daisy, and does not see the difference between him and her. Gatsby s bigger purchases like his car and his house are both very flashy and ostentatious, which is not the way of old money. Gatsby s car is bright yellow and makes a statement, unlike Tom, Daisy s husband s car, which is blue. The fact that Gatsby s car is yellow also proves that he does not see the difference between old money and new money. Gold and it s display is one of the strongest differences between old money and new money that creates the division of classiness and flashiness. Clearly, Gatsby misinterprets the meaning of the color yellow and equivalates it with gold, which leads him to lie he is old money when in fact he is new money. The color blue is another clear example of the theme of deceptive appearances. The color blue represents depression, unhappiness, and loneliness. Gatsby s first piece of wealth is a blue coat given to him by Dan Cody, signifying the beginning of his life as a rich person. In addition, Gatsby s blue lawn, and blue garden, where he hosts his extravagant parties reveals his sadness and loneliness everytime Daisy does not show. All of this blue represents an aspect of Gatsby s personality and identity that he tries to hide. Gatsby is known by the public because of his extravagant parties even though he does not attend them. Because of this, everyone speculates on the real identity of Gatsby. Gatsby has worked hard his entire

  • 11. Anatomical Theory Of Disease Essay In this paper I am going to discuss the differences between the Humoral concept of disease, the anatomical theory of disease, the germ theory of disease and the differences between each theory. I am also going to look at the historical significance of these theories and how they apply to health and wellness in today s health care. The humoral theory comes from an ancient Greek theory that states that the human body is composed of four basic humors. The Humoral theory is derived from the word humor, but in this context, means fluid . The Humoral theory is related to the theory of the earth and the four elements. The fundamental concept of this theory states that microorganisms can invade the body and cause certain diseases or even death. Before this theory was accepted many people believed that a disease was a punishment for a person s evil behavior not a medical problem. These three theories differ because they all covered different barriers when it came to treating and understanding diseases. The Humoral theory began with the four elements and the anatomical theory allowed us to take a deeper look into the functioning of the bodies systems. This helped us to learn what was happening in the body, in the body systems and in the organs. Without these two studies we would not have come to the Germ Theory. Even though each theory is different in concept each theory was important and we would not have been able to progress along to the next theory. If we would not have had the germ theory we would not have discovered the need for vaccines or discovered antiseptics. These theories also allowed physicians to learn to look at diseases on a micro (small scale) instead of just a macro scale or big picture. I feel that these theories have led to significant changes in health care over the years. These theories have allowed scientist to discover not only how to cure some disease but also how to prevent diseases from spreading. Scientists were able to develop vaccines, antiseptics, create personal protective equipment and enabled the public

Model explanation: Figure 1 Atkinson model workforce flexibility To reflect the workforce flexibility, Atkinson (1894) came up with the model which also comprises ways in which flexibility can be shown. Flexibility can be seen on part time jobs. This is applied for many employees being students at school in both Vietnam and other countries. This kind of employee need time for studying and still consider them to be able to contribute to labor force for extra money. Part time job is one of the choices when employers only have to spend fewer hours compared to full time jobs of working (Dutta, n.d). Or employees can seek for job sharing workplace in which 2 people share the same job/task. Job sharing is basically a form of part time work that provides staff with the equivalent of one full time employee while giving the job sharing employees the ability to keep their careers on track while allowing more time for family responsibilities or other activities (Entrepreneur, n.d). Working under these kinds of jobs gives employees enough time to balance all their commitments. In other words,

  • 14. The European Slave Trade And Intra African Slavery The European slave trade and intra African slavery began with different intentions and goals held in mind. Although, they also shared similar aspects and ideals shown through how they functioned and were run. Intra African slavery began before the European slave trade came to exist; this unpopular fact shows the beginning of such a gruesome and detrimental act began by the people of Africa, which, later in time, is what fuels and strengthens the European slave trade. African slaves were once captured by tribes of Africa, then working for and obeying whomever owned them. Though, they only had to serve as a slave for a given amount of time, usually only a couple years, and were then able to return home to their tribe and family to live a normal life. They were to enter under the manumission contract which allowed the enslaved to work until his or her can pay for their freedom, usually an agreed amount between them and their owner. This function of slaverywas due to Africa and its people only using/ seeing slavery as a temporary solution in order to build their economy and villages/cities. This is one of the main differences between the European and intra African slave trade, which set them greatly apart. The Europeans saw slavery and slaves as a permanent way of life for them, to live a long hard life of servitude, making the most of their money and the slaves always being in debt to them. These emotions came to a head when a coalition of multiple Russian political parties joined together to topple the Bolshevik power control, led by Vladimir Lenin. That is, given the disadvantages of over retained data, how should an organization (NAIT) manage Big Data? Answer: Organizations end up retaining a lot of data over the years and will continue to do so as they expand and grow. This is true for organizations such as NAIT where every year they see more and more students while also expanding their campus with new buildings which require the storage of big data. In order for NAIT to manage their data, they must make sure that they do not over retain too much data as it will most likely cost them in the future. Some of the disadvantages to over retaining data for NAIT would be unnecessary data storage costs and data migration, potential legal costs, and hidden costs. • 47. Moral Conflict in the The Crucible Essay examples Moral Conflict in the The Crucible Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, is a great portrayal of humans and their struggles. This play takes place in the 1690 s in Salem, a small Puritan community based on a rigid social system, where an outbreak of rumors claiming witchcraft contaminated the small village. The witch hysteria was initiated by a group of young girls (headed by Abigail Williams,) who were afraid of being accused of swaying from the strict regulations. This caused conflict among the people of the community and ultimately resulted in absolute chaos. Here begins the Reverend s inner turmoil. With scrutiny, he looks at himself and tries to figure out which way to go. Should he continue with what he is doing and listen to Judge Danforth or should he listen to his conscience? He does try a feeble attempt to talk to Danforth and explain how the unjust the court actions are, but again, his inner struggle pulls him back to a more moderate stand. Hale then decides to persuade the wrongly accused to confess witchcraft. At least this will save them from death by hanging. He preaches perjury to the people, even though this is also against their religion. Hale s principles were ridden with guilt and sadness because of his struggle with himself. Not only does Hale question himself, and Danforth, but he questions his religion. Near the end of Act IV, Hale tells Elizabeth that following religion is not worth it if religion can justify the death of so many innocent people without credible evidence. This is the ultimate reproach, and Hale ends up leaving after the hangings, with the weight of 19 innocent people (including the good names of Rebecca Nurse, Martha Corey and John Proctor,) dead, which rests somewhat on his shoulders. John Proctor a farmer and village commoner is similarly faced with an inner turmoil. He, as well as Giles Corey and Rebecca Nurse became very prominent people and were respected in Salem. Because of his role in the
