Essay on Experiment and De100 Module Team
Tma05, Introduction to a de100 project on the likeness of a logo A fictitious educational
experiment was created and conducted by a team on the DE100 module and therefore they had to
maintain plan and undertake a project to pinpoint their potential findings; this therefore meant
launching a logo for internet TV channel in order to address whether or not evaluative
conditioning works in either experimental or control conditions. The logo was used to question if
it would attract an audience and if they liked it. Evaluate conditioning is where a person is likely
to like or dislike something because it has been associated with something positive or negative
(Brace N, 2014, P 159). We can be unaware of evaluate conditioning and exactly... Show more

This validates the position that evaluative conditioning mechanisms can endorse positive attitudes
(The Open University).
Evaluative conditioning operative comes from Brace who had suggested that people make
associations either positively or negatively when they are transferred. An interesting example is
used by Brace who explains that people take a dislike to other people s names, it is suggested that
this is caused by a like or dislike to a particular name and it therefore becomes associated to a
certain person. This can then affect an individual s behaviour and attitude without being aware of it.
Chen et al verified this by sharing similarities with findings to those that were found by the DE100
module team. Chen et al was interested in whether or not the findings would differ when pairing
the sporting event with a sporting celebrity compared to a non sporting celebrity would make a
difference in participant s attitudes. The participants who were in the experimental condition with a
celebrity who had viewed the slides had developed a positive attitude than those in the control
condition with no celebrity and sports. The method used in both DE100 module team s and the
Chen s study were straightforward this therefore shows a strength and it now means that any future
replications can be conducted with ease. The participants who took part were known to the

Rural Tourism And Urban Tourism
For some time, rural areas have seen a marked decrease in economic potential as a result of the
urbanization of most areas in the United States. Unlike many of the more populated areas, rural
areas are home to small communities that exist over a vast amount of land. Farmers, cattle herders
and the like often suffer from a lack of economic certainty whereas their profits hinge on the
conditions around them. It has become increasingly necessary to implement new methods of
revitalizing the economies of ruralareas in order to create a more equally profitable nation. There
are many historical landmarks, key events and persons of interest all over the United States and that
appeal only appreciates over time. Many rural areas are beginning to capitalize on the industry that
seems to bring the most unbridle profit, tourism. Rural tourism is inclusive of many experiences that
take place in a rural setting from eco tourism to ethno tourism. There are many misconceptions that
exist about the benefits of rural tourism and the criticisms most often point towards the disruption
of the existing community. Yet the implementation of a successful rural tourism industry has
proved beneficial according to several studies conducted in the U.S. For instance, according to the
Economic Research Service Rural tourism and recreational development results in lower local
poverty rates and improvements in other social conditions, such as local educational attainment and
health (measured by mortality

Guitar Industry Analysis Paper
Tone Woods
What s your first thought when you hear a mind blowing guitar? For me I used to gravitate
towards the pickups, or the manufacturer. But after working on many guitars and building a few, I
started to gain a respect for the relationship between wood and tone. The overall tone of a guitar can
often times get overlooked. When deciding on your perfect guitar you need to consider every factor.
Here, at Halo Custom guitars, we realize the importance of not only building quality guitars but also
informing the customer on every aspect of a custom build. We want to provide the customer with
the essential information required to achieve the ultimate tone you re after. You design it, we build it.

The beefy mids and excellent lows help as well. Alder is commonly used around the industry for its
lightweight and complete sound. Tan in color with soft tight pores, Alder is visually ideal for solid
colors or sunbursts. Often associated with the tone of a Fender, being the main body wood used by
Fender since 1956.
Basswood was popular around the 80 s and favored among shredders for its ability to produce
smooth sounds deprived of sharp edges. The light color and almost non existent grain pattern
make this wood great for solid colors or backing a figured top. It is stiff, lightweight, and very
stable making it very popular among builders in the industry. Overall basswood is growly, with a
warm tone and nice mids.
Within the guitar industry there are two widely used types of Ash, there s Northern Ash and Swamp
Ash, Swamp ash typically comes from the Southern Parts of America. Their root systems grow
under water, ultimately lightening the wood and adding stiffness. Swamp Ash is highly resonate
with a mid range roar. Northern Ash is very heavy, hard and dense creating sustain and bright tones.

Observing Physical Evidence
The procedure should accomplish that each type of physical evidence, whether an intact object,
pieces of an object, blood, glass, liquids, or gasses, must be collected, marked or tagged, packaged,
transported, and stored properly to be later admitted in to evidence in court. The maintaining proper
chain of custody is particularly important when the object is one that is not unique or when
questions could be raised about changes in the condition of the object, unique or not. Upon arrival
at a crimescene, the officer should first quickly determine if anyone is injured or needs medical
treatment and, if so, summon the health professionals. Then the officer should survey the crime
scene, quickly determine whom to interview, and move nonessential individuals out of the area.
The crime scene area should be cordoned off or otherwise closed to nonessential individuals.
The identification tag should contain the case number, the name of the defendant, the name of the
victim, the name of the law enforcement professional who found the object; the date, time, and
place where the object was found; a brief description of the article (this is important in case the tag
becomes detached from the item because some objects cannot be recognized from appearance
alone), the signature of the person finding the object; the person to whom the object was released

When objects are to be stored for a considerable period of time, it is advisable to place them in
cartons or paper or plastic bags in order to prevent dirt, dust, and the elements from affecting their

the outside of each package, from which the contents may be easily determined. With such storage

Traditional Home Remedies. (White 2000)
1.Depending on what each person s purpose was for having a garden, each garden would have
different elements. A nurse or midwife would have medicinal herbs, a spinner or weaver would
have dye plants, or a decorative garden would have brightly colored flowers. (Pleasant 2004)
2.In 1651 the reference book Culpeper s Complete Herbal came out and created an even bigger
community of avid herbal users. This book was the most popular herb book for decades.
D.Throughout the course of history, herbs started to receive a negative reputation due to practices
like Native American medicine and Pagan ceremonies becoming superstitious and almost taboo in
modern culture.
1.In the 1960s there was a large population of people trying to become more Earth oriented and
nature friendly, so the herbal culture exploded once again.
2.Today herbs are more accepted for medicinal purposes, health purposes, and religious purposes.

Kanye West Jesus Walks Lyrics Analysis
Jesus Walks is a rap song by the artist Kanye West, and the song could be considered a
progressive rap song. Because throughout the lyrics he addresses the crime acts done in
Chicago, and the different types of wars we are facing here in America. He says in the beginning
of the song We at war with terrorism, racism, but most of all we at war with ourselves then the
next verse he expresses some acts of crimes performed in the streets. As the express acts of
racism, and terrorism or acts of protest during the music video, also towards the end of the music
video it shows a member of the KKK building his cross that he sets on fire at the end of the video.

Another motivation behind why handgun bans neglect to ensure individuals is on the grounds that
they don t manage the main problem. The main problem behind handgun violations and savagery is
not the handgun itself, yet rather the proprietor of the firearm. As indicated by reviews, starting
2010, there were approximately 300 million guns claimed by nationals in the United States. Of
those 300 million, roughly 100 million were handguns, and 67% of those firearmproprietors said
they had weapons for self protection, 66% said they utilized their firearms for chasing, and 41%
for target shooting (Agresti and Smith, 2010). Amid the year 2008, around 436,000 rough

Action potential arrives at axon terminal of motor neuron;
Acetylcholine (ACh) is released and binds to receptors on sarcolemma;
The sarcolemma s Ion permeability changes;
depolarization occurs locally in the sarcolemma;
This local change in membrane voltage ignites Action Potential in sarcolemma;
Action Potential travels across the entire sarcolemma and along the T tubules;
Sarcoplasmic Reticulum (SR) then releases Calcium which binds to troponin in the thin filament,

Differences Between American Colonies And New England...
The American colonies were a diverse and interesting people. The colonies are typically split
between the New England colonies and the Southern colonies. While both sets of colonies
would eventually make up what is now the original thirteen colonies of the United States, they
both had their similarities and differences. What led to the differences of the two sets of colonies
and how were they similar? This question was relevant then and it is relevant in today s world.
The southern colonies were mainly controlled by an elite class of planters that owned the most
land and had the most slaves. Below them were the small farmers that had a few slaves and
much smaller plots of land and at the bottom were the landless white people. This social ladder
made up the economic and political worlds in the south. The planters were the most powerful
politically and the most wealthy. This is in sharp contrast to the New England colonies that were
more focused on preserving a familial line and focused on their families rather than on the next
crop growth. The south had very fertile land and this led to the planters taking over the social
landscape. In New England the land wasn t as good and the population wasn t made up of mostly
farm and crop owners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Charleston was the only major city in the south and because of this the people in the south didn t

wealthy plantation owners like the Washington family. In New England there were more Cities
and the people had more options than just owning land and growing crops. The viewpoints on
women and their rights were also very different. In the south women who were widowed would be
able to own the land their husbands leave behind while New England women were focused on

Examples Of Foolishness In King Lear
In Shakespeare s King Lear the relationship between wisdom and foolishness is explored through
the characters Lear and Gloucester. Throughout the play, both characters were foolish based on
their decisions, and after losing everything they had, they came to see how inappropriately they
acted. Through this realization they gained wisdom by taking responsibility for their actions, and
by making amends with those they had let down. In this play, Shakespeare demonstrates how
gaining this insight can be difficult, heartbreaking, and often times one may end up with nothing
but a new found wisdom.
The beginning of these characters journey to insight must unfortunately start with foolishness. The
play starts with King Lear asking his 3 daughters how much they love him. Whoever loves him the
most will receive the biggest piece of land that he plans to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When Lear asks his youngest daughter, Cordelia the same question, she says, Unhappy that I
am, I cannot heave/ My heart into my mouth: I love your majesty/ According to my bond; no

not thinking about the sincerity of Cordelia s gesture or the genuine words she has spoken, is
only offended and enraged that she did not flatter his ego like her sisters. Lear disowns Cordelia
and decides to split his kingdom between selfish sisters Regan and Goneril. This decision is the
snowball that keeps on rolling; growing into a bigger and bigger mess throughout the story.
King Lear was idiotic in not analyzing the situation. He could not see that Cordelia was the only
daughter that truly loved him and that Regan and Goneril only loved what he had to give them.
Lear s second foolish decision was physically giving his land to Regan and Goneril. Since Lear
couldn t see how selfish his daughters were in their answers, he gave all his land and all his power
to them. Lear also had people bring to his

Reflection Paper On Batman V. Superman
On March 24th, I watched Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with a crowd of people excited
to see the two best superheroes go head to head. What we got was a jumbled mess of garbage for
2 1/2 hours. Was the action of them fighting good? Yeah, it was okay, but it was far from good. I
m not sure why directors think the best action scenes are done while it s night time and raining is
the best time, but this was another occurrence of It s dark and the camera is shaking a lot.
So, I wrote a review of the movie that wasn t too positive about the movie, but I still wanted to
see it again to make sure it was as bad as my first impression gave me. Not only was I right about
the movie being bad, but I had to cover my mouth from laughter so many times that I was afraid

kidnapped. Summer gets kidnapped by a man named Clover, who is trying to make his, perfect
family. He keeps four girls in his basement at a time and calls them all by names of flowers, Lilly,
Poppy, Rose, and Violet. Summer, who is referred to as Lilly while she is kidnapper, spends
seven months with three other girls in the cellar trying to survive until they finally escape. While
Lilly is in the cellar she has to watch many horrible things happen, for example, girls getting
stabbed to death by Clover. At the end of the book the police arrive at Clover s house to rescue
the girls. After the girls are found Lilly returns to live a normal life with her familyand new friends.
Natasha Preston used indirect characterization to reveal her characters. We know indirect
characterization was used because, we learned more about Summer as time went on and as she

who her friends were, rather than the author coming out and telling us about her. By the author

Analyse the Factors That Causes Differences in the Hazards...
Analyse the factors that causes differences in the hazards posed by volcanoes around the world (40
marks)
A hazard can be define as something which poses a level of threat the life, health, property or
environment, a volcano can compromise all these things through the many hazards volcanoes
presents. Such as lahars, flash flooding, landslides, pyroclastic flows, ash clouds and many others.
There are factors which can influence the severity of the hazard and cause differences in them and
can be classified into different categories, such as physical, economic, political and social.
One physical factor which causes differences in a volcanic hazard is the steepness of the volcano. If
the volcanoes sides are of a steep gradient then the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another physical factor is snow; if a volcano is snow capped, like Eyjafjallajokull, then the
lahars and flash floods become a greater hazard. The flooding in Iceland in 2010 caused 700
people to be evacuated. Without the snow then lahars and floods may not be a problem at all.
The location of the volcano is also important. If it is situated on a constructive plate boundary
then it is generally less explosive, and therefore poses different threats to volcanoes situated on a
destructive plate boundary. The volcano may also be situated on a hotspot like in Hawaii, where
the eruptions aren t very explosive. Volcanos which aren t explosive can pose other threats to lava
flows though, such as dangerous gases being released. Like in Lake Nyos, Cameroon where 1700
people died.
Wind direction could also cause difference in the hazards, like during the Eyjafjallajokull eruption
of 2010. If the wind was blowing in a different direction then the ash cloud wouldn t have been
distributed across the Atlantic and Europe, meaning that there would have been a lot less air travel
disruption. Then the ash cloud wouldn t have been a hazard as it wouldn t pose a threat to anyone.
Ultimately physical factors determine which hazards are posed by the volcano and how intensive
and threatening they are to human life. However they are not the sole factors that causes
differences in hazards posed by volcanos.
Settlement is a huge human

Breaking Taboos Essay
When in Rome, do as Romans do. This is the famous English phrase which means the importance
of adapting the customs of the people being in a certain place or situation and behave like they
do. Not breaking taboo is a very important aspect of manners in the society. This is because
breaking taboos can be a consequence of the end of the relation or the lost circumstance of
business and new connection. Japan and the United States have had a good relation since after
World War II, and the two society seem becoming similar. However, there are still a lot of
different social taboos being unique in both countries; thus, the people need to care and follow
such taboos when they visit the other one. To begin with, meeting is the most crucial important

Symptoms And Treatment Of Renal Disorders Essay
Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNA) are endogenously produced short non coding regulatory RNAs that can
repress gene expression by posttranscriptional mechanisms. They can therefore influence both
normal and pathological conditions in diverse biological systems. Several miRNAs have been
detected in kidneys where they have been found to be crucial for renal development and normal
physiological functions as well as significant contributors to the pathogenesis of renal disorders
such as diabetic nephropathy, acute kidney injury, lupus nephritis, polycystic kidney disease, and
others due to their effects on key genes involved in these disease processes. miRNAs have also
emerged as novel biomarkers in these renal disorders. Due to increasing evidence of their actions in
various kidney segments, in this mini review, we discuss the functional significance of altered
miRNA expression during the development of renal pathologies and highlight emerging miRNA
based therapeutics and diagnostic strategies for early detection and treatment of kidney diseases.
Introduction microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) are a unique class of short (в€
ј22 nucleotides) single
stranded endogenous noncoding RNAs (7, 8). miRNAs contain nucleotide sequences
complementary to binding sites on the 3′ untranslated regions (3′ UTRs) of protein coding
messenger RNA (mRNA) transcripts. Through direct binding to the mRNA 3′ UTRs, miRNAs
can induce repression of target gene expression (57). Individual miRNAs can often engage

based, grassroots education, enforces and engineering (City of Tulsa, 2005). If the neighbors are
worried about traffic control and the safety of their family, having knowledge on what we might
can do, will create communication between neighbors. The city is developing a traffic calming
program, which will help establish guidelines and criteria for speed humps or other traffic
calming devices (City of Tulsa, 2005). Drive 25 is a program designed for engineers to work with
neighborhoods to address speed control issues (City of Tulsa, 2005). Traffic calming is improving
the driving and life in a neighborhood. All the effects of traffic calming are to help reinforce the
rights to use their neighborhood safely and comfortably (SFGOV, 2001). Traffic calming is all
about education, engineering and enforcement. Since I have lived in my neighborhood, there has
been reckless driving everyday around the same time and nothing has been done to enforce the

the police officers will be watching our neighborhood. When you are riding through a

Analysis Of The Poem Bleak Falls
As the sun in all of its glory disappeared behind the mountains, with it went the last of the
remaining rays of warmth from the day. Lalaine shivered as sighed before squaring her
shoulders and continuing up the mountain side. Bleak Falls Barrow was just up ahead and if
she hurried she could make it back into Riverwood by this time tomorrow. She could make it
back to Gurder and Hod s house, back to Ralof and their warm bed. She rubbed a small cut under
her rib, caused by a bandits rogue arrow, and braced herself as the old tomb came into sight.
Hiding behind a large rock she listened to voices talk. Three voices, three people, three enemies.
She could do this, or at least that s what she told herself. Pulling her axefree of the... Show more

You picked a bad time to get lost woman! You seem to be mistaken sir, she said with labored
breath, I am anything but lost. She kicked his feet out from under him and watched as the large
brute of a man fell backwards. She swung her axe downwards cutting the sword from his hand
and finished him off with a swing across his chest. He let out a hiss of pain before falling over
into an ever growing pool of blood. Sighing she straightened her back and continued up the stairs
and up to the doors of the barrow. The large doors loomed over her small form and she kicked
them open, axe at the ready for anything that would be waiting for her on the other side. More
bandits waited for her within the first room. They attacked without mercy, each trying to bring
her down and watch her bleed. Eventually she was able to cut down the small group and she
continued on deeper into the ruins. Stopping short of a room covered in webs she let out an
aggravated huff, knowing what lied in wait for her. This is the last time I do a favor for anyone,
she stated under her breath. Is... is someone coming? Is that you Harknir? Bjorn? Soling? A
panicked voice came from the other side of the thick webbed barricade. I know I ran a head with
the claw, but I need help, it pleaded. Sighing Lalaine readied herself for a battle with the frostbite
spiders, still unsure of their numbers.

Reflection Paper In Counseling
Self reflection Paper
Productiveness
The most productive part of the counseling session was when I found myself thinking about how
I left my door unlocked and windows open, which did leave to an awkward pause, however I
regained self awareness and began to discuss how the client and I will discuss his goals in a future
session. The reason I found this to be the most productive was because it pushed me to regain
control in an effective way and demonstrated that counselors makes mistakes to the client, which
could add to the authenticity aspect.
Problem Areas There are several areas of which I need to improve upon. One of the biggest areas
of improvement would include be responding opposed to reacting. For example when the client
stated, I train my dog to go to the bathroom on my neighbor s lawn and I don t have a dog. I
immediately began laughing. I should have paused, then responded with a clarifying question.
Another problem area was, the awkward pauses and loose structure. I believe I had several
awkward pauses throughout the session as a result of overthinking. I should have stated what came
to me naturally instead of worrying about saying it correctly or in a specific order.
Ethics
Ethics appeared in this session when discussing the informed consent. The reason a counselor goes
over informed consent with their client is because the categories within the form can lead to
ethical dilemmas if left unclear. In this session, I felt as though I had gone over each category in
the document. Though with that being said, I feel that next session I will elaborate in a more
concise and efficient manner. In this session, I was a bit unorganized and reiterated a lot of the
same information.
Multicultural Competencies Unfortunately I do not feel that I grew in a multicultural competent
manner. I think that when the client and I have our next session, there will be room to grow
culturally because the focus will be on him, not the informed consent.
Self Advocacy
When the client and I discussed the referral process and areas outside of my scope of practice that I
believe spoke to the self advocacy piece. The client understood that if he was in crisis I could assist
him with calling 911 or provide him with crisis

Nietzsche Good Vs Evil
The Good, The Bad, and The Jealous:
An Examination of Ressentiment, according to Nietzsche
In his book, Genealogy of Morals, Nietzsche examines the origins of Good and Evil. He postures
that these two concepts are derived from language, rather than essential morality. He argues that
people label things as good or evil based upon their personal feelings and position of privilege.
Douglas Smith translated this edition of Genealogy of Morals into English, but he also included
explanations of some of Nietzsche s key concepts. According to Smith, A central concept in
Nietzsche s argument, ressentiment is the essence of slave morality, a purely reactive mode of
feeling which simply negates the active and spontaneous affirmation of values on the part of the
nobility (142). Ressentiment stems from the oppressed party s jealousy. The oppressed do not
accept that it is bad that they do not have the luxuries and rights that the nobility posses. Instead, the
oppressed use ressentiment, flip the moral spectrum, and declare that those luxuries are evil. The
oppressed class (or at least the class that perceives itself to be as such), uses ressentiment to make
itself feel better and to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis of the Play Les Miserables
Seeing many plays and programs throughout the years I have become to enjoy them more. I like
the live plays, seeing all the excitement and enthusiasm on people s faces. There is the feel of
drama in the air with every scene that is so exciting. People are so drawn into the show there is
silence in the theater like the world has stopped. Theatrical entertainers train for years to be
selected to perform in live shows around the world. The time and effort put into the shows are
always amazing to me. The producer has a lot of pressure on his hands dealing with getting the
stage, props, actors and clothing all in order before each performance begins.
I picked the play Les Miserables to talk about and discuss for the performing arts papers
assignment. The show Les Miserables was an amazing show, I enjoyed it a lot and would
consider seeing it again. I was not expecting to get that much out of it, but I was fooled. The
show was very touching, as well as heartbreaking. The way people use to be treated was unheard
of and wrong. The show represented courage, pride and prosperity. The way Fantine stood up for
herself, was brave, and everyone should use her as an example of courage and pride.
The basic headline of the play was a man named Jean Valjeanwho lived with a preacher after
being released from prison. The preacher took him in when no one would give him a second
chance. The preacher got up in the middle of the night to find Jean stealing his gold candle sticks

Tyranny And The Social Wellbeing Of Citizens
During the 19th century, in the age after the French Revolution, the vast majority of political and
philosophical thinkers concerned themselves at some point with the issue of tyranny in society.
Such writers spanned from Alexis de Tocqueville, to John Stuart Mill, to Karl Marx and Friedrich
Engels. The interpretations and approaches taken to the subject of tyranny and how to protect
against it, though, were as varied as the collection of authors who addressed it. From de
Tocqueville s stringent observations in Democracy in America, the concept of a purely political
tyranny is delineated. In contrast, Mill s essay On Liberty focuses on a particular strain of despotic
oppression that threatens the social wellbeing of citizens. Yet another... Show more content on

In contrast, John Stuart Mill s essay On Liberty focuses almost entirely on Mill s idea of how
forms of tyranny have evolved throughout history, and how the most pressing form is a new
tyranny of the majority in which the force of the public opinion is used to silence individuals. Mill
seeks to describe how in the past, protection against the tyranny of political rulers was necessary
to ensure the liberty of individuals, but the problem now has evolved from tyrannical political
leaders to an oppressive public that may desire to oppress a part of their number (Mill 7). Similar to
Mill, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels make the subject of tyranny the focus of The Communist
Manifesto; choosing to utilize the manifesto to dissect the tyrannical ways that the bourgeoisie
operates in society. Written as an observation of the struggles of the working class stemming from
the Industrial Revolution, The Communist Manifesto delineates how bourgeois society has
established new classes, new conditions of oppression, [and] new forms of struggle for the working
class proletariat (Marx Engels 3). As Marx and Engels were commissioned to draft the manifesto for
the Communist League, it makes sense that the piece is intended to provoke the common citizen
into recognizing their potential exploitation. Additionally, the actual definition that each author

Descriptive Essay On Destitute Beauty
Destitute Beauty In the large city of New York, there are many beautiful people. I am not one of
them. I can pass hours away sitting in a coffee shop in a tall seat next to the window, watching
the beauties pass, seeing my reflection against them even more bloated and lumpy than normal.
Some of them notice me. Most of them don t. It doesn t matter. Like I said, New York is a large
city, I ll never see them again. And anyway, I m sure they re used to people staring. How could
they not be, they draw people with their large, black rimmed eyes and lean figures and cutting
jawbones like dogs to the enticing smell of meat. I am just another dog, one they will forget in
moments. And when the sun sets, and the beautiful people fade away and the crowd becomes
faceless and intoxicated, that s when I leave, and where I stay until the sun rises, becoming one
with the pulse and throb of the mass. Promising myself that the next day, yes, the next day, I ll
get a job, ignore the cold, gorgeous people, succeed even with my lumps, and papery skin, and
eyes that are just a little too far apart. And the next day, with my headache, I return. Today is
yesterday and the day before. The sun is especially bright now, almost passive aggressively
bright, shining smugly through the haze that buries the city, bouncing into the small cafe in
which I spend most of my time. It s supposed to be homey, with nearly dead plants hanging
skeletal by the windows and overstuffed couches near a coffee table. I sit in the uncomfortable
seat that s almost comically tall, at the only table next to a window. The barista Ellen is chatting
happily with a customer, she barely notices me anymore. Which is fine by me. A woman, with
long legs and hollows under her cheekbones, struts past the cafГ©, a mere foot away from me. She
doesn t notice my stare. It s a funny thing. People talk all they want about feeling when people stare
at them, getting goosebumps and looking around frantically for their admirer. But either it isn t
true, or I m not important enough for my stare to mean anything, hold any weight. Searching
through the crowd, I find parts and pieces that I want most, playing a game I often play. Her taut

is because we are not the first inhabitants of this land, as such, remains of humans, animals, tools

Belonging In The Secret Garden By Frances Hodgson Burnett

theme in their own way whether it be for better or for worse. Also, what scenes and symbols
were useful and played an important role to the theme of belonging. First off, Mary shows how
this theme applies to her in many ways, but the scene when Mary first discovers the garden really
stands out. This part in the movie is a major key to the whole story. She is discovering a place that

Factory owners would arrange deals with local orphanages to hire orphans. The orphans would
get food, shelter, and clothing. Which was not always the best but it was better than nothing.
Many children did not know how to read or write. Their boss would provide them with a little
amount of education. But instead of being taught properly, they had to go work. It s not like
they wanted to go work, they had to. Most families did not have enough to eat. Plus it was
common to have a family with nine brothers and sisters. The new middle class had a different
thought of how their children should spend their days. They would educate their kids, girls
would learn to sew, and learn how to maintain a household. Boys were also educated but they
were thought to follow in their father s footsteps. Now thats the life every kid wanted instead of
risking their lives everyday. Back in the factories young children would assist adult workers.
Some of those workers would verbally abuse, or beat them. The boss would punish you if you
came late. For example they would tie a weight to your neck and make you walk with it for about
an hour. That lead to some serious injuries. Whenever a boy was late he would have to go to the

Negative Effects Of Social Networking
Student Answer: The use of social networking comes with mixed reviews because this tool can
be used to both grow a company and potentially harm a company . Companies that utilize social
networks can benefit form the influx of customers. Using social network platforms allow the
customer to reach millions of customers. ` The viral nature of social networking encourages all
the people who are connected to you to share what they like, plan to attend, or want to participate
in` (Minerof, 2010). In the case of Facebook, you can see the pages, companies, campaigns, and
events your friends like and plan to participate in . Seeing these actives on your time line most
times lead you to also look at the company. These is a great marketing tool. `Social networking
does have its pitfalls` (Minerof, 2010).Companies that allow their employees to access Facebook
may be creating opportunities for unethical practice, especially when employees overly engage
during work hours. Employees can sometimes over engage in infrequent status updates, game
applications and viewing online images and videos. Blurring the lines between personal and
business use (Minerof, 2010). Allowing employees to use social networks for work related
activities causes distractions from social media that makes the negative impact of such media on
productivity to outweigh the benefits (Minerof, 2010). The internet may be a distraction from work

Inequality for all
People of color have been the targets of bigotry, racial discrimination, and oppression since the
arrival of the early European settlers. This is evident in the mass extermination of the Native
Americans and in the kidnapping and enslavement of African s in the 1600 s. Although slavery
was abolished over 100 years ago the traumatic effects of this injustice is present in today s society.
The forefathers of America built this nation with the hands of black peopleand despite their
contribution to this country they continue to be marginalized. Even though black people have made

The Nature of Oppression Slave owners used various methods to maintain the order and
productivity of their slaves. In order to maintain control and prevent rebellion slave owners
instilled dependence, fear, ignorance and indoctrination. The Virginia slave codes allowed slave
owners to subject slaves to harsh physical punishment in to break them. If death occurred as a
result of punishing such slave, the slave owner went without reprimand. Slave owners enforced
oppression by using their tyrannical power designated by government. Slave owners had total
control of their slaves. Slaves were dependent on their masters for basic needs: food, shelter and
clothing. Slave owners injected inferiority into the minds of slaves by using skin color as a means
to suggest God s design was to have whites rule them. Slave owners did not allow slaves to
participate in any activities that would make them skillful or knowledgeable, as this would promote
independence. In light of modern racial oppression, these concepts are present in American social
policy. Hidden fascism is most appropriate to describe the ingrained bigoted policies used to control
society and advance white elitist. Racial oppression is evident in the many disparities minorities
and poor people face. African Americans have the highest rates of dropouts, incarceration, poverty,
single parent households, teen pregnancies and unemployment. This cannot be mere coincidence or

Writing Style Analysis Essay
Introduction Understanding the various modes and methods of writing is important in academic
writing. The following essay will describe, examine, and analyze the methods of three peer
reviewed journal articles from the International Journal of Work, Health, Organizations, specifically
addressing work and stress.
Describe Journal Writing Style The publications within the journal selected show a specific
writing style throughout all the articles selected. The writing style that was presented in these
articles was a formal style of writing. A formal style of writing can be classified as academic
writing that presents a certain structure that is to be followed. For instance, these articles presented

The structure of the publication of these journal articles is presented on three levels. First, the
authors present the background information on the topic to gain an understanding of the topic.
Secondly, the authors present their ideas by conducting a study on the topic selected. The studies
presented are topics that are occasionally discussed or researched so the authors of this journal shed
light on these areas. The final level of structure that the authors present is a discussion and
conclusion of their results. This final level of the articles presents ways for the intended audience to
incorporate the findings in their practice or encourage the audience to pursue further research
within the topic. For example, Deligkaris, Panagopoulou, Montgomery, and Masoura (2014),
present in their conclusion how there are limited studies on burnout in correlation with cognitive
impairment and introduce ideas for future research. In addition, the articles provided practical
implications for management to use within high stress work environments to support their
employees (Pindek Spector, 2016; Michailidis Banks, 2016).
Analyze Journal Writing connection to Student Writing The writing presented in the journal articles
showe one strong connection to the writings I submit within the classrooms of Capella University.
The major connection is the use of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological
Association (APA) is used. Using APA provides the overall structure of an author s writing. These
articles used headings, references, and citations throughout their work. I use these three elements
consistently, because it allows my work to be organized and my ideas supported based on other
journals related to the same topic.

What Does It Mean To Say That Art Is A Lie
Pablo Picasso once said Art is a lie that brings us closer to the truth . From this statement a lot can
be interpreted leading to different ideas and I think most prominent is the relationship between
art, the truth and lies. Pablo Picasso makes two assumptions in his assertion, the first concerning
the first section which addresses the fact that art is a lie. The second assumption is made
whereby art is given a purpose brings us closer to the truth which creates a paradox that truth can
develop and exist in a lie. Furthermore his statement of the two contradictory suggestions leads us
to understand that art is a representation of the truth or truths and reality which are perceived by
humans as lies. Art is a wide and broad Area of Knowledge that incorporates a lot of art forms and
a form that has dominated our modern times is film. Taking this into account, Picasso s statement
will be analyzed in relation to film on the basis of two contradictory claims on art, lies and truth....

rather more deeper and bigger context. Leading to another question on the context of his
statement. To what extent does context affect our understanding of Knowledge? A very good
example that reinforces this is The Matrix , which is a well known movie series that greatly
deals with the idea of perception vs reality whereby people what people perceive to be the truth and
reality is really just an illusion and deception. Referring to a quote from the film What is real? How

In William Kennedy s novel Ironweed, the story is set in Albany, New York, during the 1930 s
otherwise known as the Great Depression. In the story, the main character Francis Phelan lives
as a bum and can be described as a classic antihero on a lengthy quest for forgiveness from both

(Kurlansky, 2002) This quote perfectly sums up the importance of food when it comes to culture. I
have had the privilege of being born into a Hispanic background. The Hispanic culture is rich with
traditions, language, music, literature, but most importantly, cuisine. Hispanic cuisine is full of
flavor and consists of many textures such as: stringy, gooey, crunchy, and chewy. When eating
a
Hispanic meal, there is one foodthat you are very likely to encounter. This food is the pinto bean.
The pinto bean is a very well known dish but where exactly was it originated, what is the cultural
and economic significance, what is the nutritional... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a variety amount of cooking techniques used when it comes to pinto beans. Dried pinto
beans are usually available in prepackaged containers or bins. There are also canned pinto beans
available that you can find in many markets. (whfoods, 2015) Pinto beans have such a savory
flavor that they can go well with a variety of different foods. Some common ways pinto beans are
cooked are in a pressure cooker, a crock pot, or a microwave. There are many ways to go about
cooking pinto beans but the most common way consists of sorting the beans to ensure they are
free of small rocks and clumps of dirt, washing the beans, and finally cooking the beans in
whichever method you choose best. In many cultures pinto beans were originally eaten as a
mash usually accompanied with a piece of bread. (whfoods, 2015) Pinto beans can be made as a
stew, a mash, or are boiled. In many cultures pinto beans are usually served as a side dish to the
main course. For example, in the American southwest pinto beans are usually served as a side
dish with the popular dish of Enchiladas. Pinto beans also serve as the main component of many
dishes. These dishes include burritos, which is a flour tortilla usually filled with pinto beans
and a variety of different ingredients. Tostadas, which is a hard taco shell layered with refried
pinto beans with usually cheeses and garnish sprinkled on top. And Frito pies which is a dish
consisting of Frito chips, pinto beans, New Mexican red chili, and cheese. Pinto beans are also
sometimes pureed and can be used in dips, to thicken soups and sauces, and as a soup base.
Another common dish that you are very likely to find served with pinto beans is rice. Pinto beans
and rice served with cornbread is a very simple but delicious meal. Pinto beans can be found
incorporated in a variety of different cuisines such as Indian, European, Asian, and Mexican
cuisines.

The Impact Of Information On The Business Industry
Information will always be a big factor in the business industry. Those who knows more will have
advantage on others, and those who hide information takes advantage of the situation to exploit.
This uneven proportion of information, or asymmetric information has been a problem in many
industries for sustaining efficient operations and for customers to acquire products or services at a
reasonable cost. One of the industries that have been combating this information war is the
insurancemarket . Information is just another resource, but as any other resources it has a cost.
Information plays a big role when companies makes decisions. Therefore, information must be
accurate and from credible sources. But, at the same time this accuracy and credibility should be
from customers to the insurance companies. It is normal for a company to profit and a customer to
get more for the money, but both side constantly trying to have the advantage could end in market
failure. This causes information and the insurance market to lose its purpose of both benefiting
from each other or in proper economic terms, perfect information.
Insurance Market Today s insurance market has grown in a wider spectrum. There is insurance for
almost everything. People can get insurance for protecting their electronic devices, homes, vehicles,
travel, loans and health. The most critical aspect for companies determining prices and strategies
for maximizing this insurance coverages is information. Companies,

Summary Of Jude s The Of Jude
JOURNAL OF JUDE
BY: ROSECEL M. RENDON 1. EPISTLE S AUTHORSHIP
Jude was the brother of Jesus and he wrote this epistle after he became a believer in Jesus Christ.
We need to remember as it is written, Jude and James, both brothers of Jesus, did not believe that
He was the Messiah, the son of God. But after His resurrection everything changed and now he
called himself a brother of James and a servant of Jesus Christ which shows the humility of Jude
and the unimportance for him to be the half brother of Jesus in human terms but most important to
believe in Him as our savior and king. To Jude, the blood of the cross was more important than the
family blood.
2. DATE OF WRITING
The Epistle of Jude is closely related to 2 Peter, and the date of writing depends on whether Jude
borrowed from 2 Peter or 2 Peter borrowed from Jude. It is believed it was written somewhere
between the years 60 to 80 A.D.
3. PURPOSE AND OCCASION OF WRITING: Jude had to deal with the dangers of false
doctrines sneaking in the church. There were godless men, false teachers who were living sinful
lives and misrepresenting the grace of God, they denied the Lordship of Jesus Christ and began
teaching doctrines of self righteousness and a false freedom they represented. This brought Jude,
led by the Holy Spirit, to deal strongly with these men, false teachers. In his epistle, he perfectly
describes the character, deception, lies, and modus operandi of these men and contrast it with the
character of a true

Plutarch s Life Of The Heroes
Plutarch was a son of the philosopher named Aristobulus. He was born in 46 AD in Chaeronea,
Boeotia; and he died in 120 AD. Plutarch was also known as a historian, essayist and biographer
who had left a huge literary heritage for humanity. By traveling abroad to other countries such as
Egypt, Greece..., Plutarchassembled lots of information about the heroes of the Roman and
Greece mythology. After that, he used that information to write about lives of heroes. He
gathered all fascinating biographies in his massive books: Plutarch Greek Lives , Plutarch
Roman Lives and The Parallel Lives of Plutarch . Those books bring a reputation to Plutarch and
he became a famous biographer at that time. In his books, he wrote the lives of the heroes in
order of time to show his respects to those people of both countries. The short biographies in his
books are about childhood, achievements and deaths of the heroes. Besides that, he also added
some interesting stories and lessons in those biographies to educate his readers. His books were
translated into many different languages and they have great influences to modern historians and
modern biographers. After reading the book Greek Lives of Plutarch, I was impressed by the
biographyabout Lycurgus. Lycurgus was written as the father of Sparta. He was legislator who wrote
many constitutions to build up and maintain the strength and power of Sparta during 500 years.
There are some differences between the biography of Lycurgus and

How Did Mexican Architecture Influence The Spanish...
Arts and literature Spanish paintings became popular during the Romanesque period. During the
middle ages, many aspects of art became important like the manuscripts that were mainly written
for religious purposes. The manuscripts during the medieval period depicted the life of the people
then like how they dressed, what food they ate and their many ceremonies. There were many
manuscripts written by a Spanish king called Alfonso X the Castilian King. There was a transition
in the history of Spanish art from the Romanesque to gothic art. The Romanesque art had to do with
miniature pieces of art but during the gothic period many of the acts produced then were stained
glasses. Spanish paintings in the 19th century was filled with the customs and... Show more content

At a point in history a lot of moors occupied a great portion of Spain and they created some
beautiful architecture with a Spanish twist to it which includes the great mosque of Cordoba which
has a church embedded in it. Throughout history the Spanish architecture has been shaped by the
changing trends in Europe. In the start of the 12th century the gothic style was introduced which
greatly influenced the styles in the buildings like the cathedral of Toledo, Burgos and Leon. The
renaissance trend in Europe greatly influenced the Spanish architecture. Spanish architectures were
not just about buildings they were also a means of communication. Each architecture that was
created reflected the community s values, pursuits and culture. Each Spanish building erected
showed the dominance of a cultural group in the community and the geographical area it was
erected in showed the extent of their power and dominance. Such buildings often bore an
identifying sign for example the sign of a church was different from that of a mosque. The church
s sign was significantly that of a cross while that of a mosque bore that of a crescent moon and a
star and it signified the significance or dominance of a religious group or cultural group in that
area. The middle ages were an exciting period in the history of Spanish architecture and it was at
that time there was the entrance of the moors which means Muslim in Spanish. And there was a
clash between Muslims and Christians in that time of history. At that time the Christians and
Muslims emerged their cultures together to form the Mozarabic architecture. It was not uncommon
to see a church being converted to a mosque and vice versa. The great church of Cordoba with a
church embedded in it was a good opportunity to see how Christians and Muslims saw their
relationship with

What Are the Advantages Disadvantages of Working in...
A team is a group of individuals who work together to produce products or deliver services for
which they are mutually accountable.
(Cohen Mohrman, 1995)
Teamwork is used everyday, everywhere in business organisations. It is an important way of
bringing people together, developing stronger bonds between members and quickly tackling large
projects. There have been many theorists who have developed conflicting theories regarding the
pros and cons of working in teams, thus the ageing problem in hand is firstly being able to identify
these advantages and disadvantages, and secondly trying to find solutions to reducing or avoiding
these disadvantages. The ability to do this is of paramount importance for leaders everywhere ...

Allport argued that the key to resolving conflict was better interaction between members. The
foundation of this argument is that interaction consolidates a feeling of group identity resulting in
stronger bonds between group members and encourages friendships. In this way, if we examine
Allport s theory with reference to Guirdham s, we could see that team members might be less
likely to abuse group norms. However, one problem that could arise as a follow on from
encouraging team members to become friendly with one another is the idea of groupthink, which I
shall discuss shortly.
The second advantage I am going to discuss is that group members all motivate one another. In
order to provide evidence for this statement it is necessary to re examine one of the theories
mentioned earlier; Group norms (Guirdham, 1995). Guirdham suggests that every team member is
encouraged to adopt these four norms which encourages stronger bonds between the team
members and can convert simple group members into friends. This therefore leads to an
environment in which everybody gets along. However, it could be argued that there are two major
consequences and disadvantages that may arise through this type of approach. I already touched
upon the first one; somebody in the group may abuse the group norms and morale may be lowered.
The second is the idea of groupthink (Janis, 1972). Groupthink is the idea that in an environment
where people are too friendly, they do

Health Insurance Pros
Have you ever thought for a moment if you got an accident and you are not health insured? What
this mean? It means help of medical expenses and hospitalization charges. Health insurance is
simply the risk of incurring any sort of medical expenses. Unfortunately, only 6 out of 10 people
think that health insuranceis important (Blakely). There are two contrasting viewpoints regarding
compulsion of health insuranceat government level. The debate of health insurance to be required
by law opens up many debates. Several people perceives it a trouble: many think it is beyond
access of low income group and other think that health insurance provides security to them. I

The opposition might be convinced with benefits of health insurance, however, they have objection
over health insurance price being costly. It is not easy to buy health insurance policies due to
mountain high premiums. A person who hardly makes both ends meet cannot afford to purchase
health insurance. Health Insurance is an extra burden to the public. Dashiell Bennett in an article
pointed out towards words of former president Barak Obama who said, People want to have health
insurance but they aren t able to pay high insurance premiums . (Bennett, 1). The opponents believe
that instead of paying high premiums people can make compulsory savings at regular period that
they can use rainy days. People can save a lot by not having health insurance. If they have health
insurance the low income group suffers they might just keep giving half of the income they are
earning just to wait till they get sick and need the medical payment. It can keep them in continuous

The Worst And Mother Maria Pfenning A Copy Of The Papers
Jawohl, Herr ObersturmbannfГјhrer, answered Walther. He showed Horst the Worst and Mother
Maria Pfenning a copy of the papers, which, not only did it came with the letter and a vaguely
brief description of his duty station, but it also included a map detailing the location of his personal
living quarters. That makes sense. Permission to go to my living quarters, Herr
Obersturmbannführer? Permission accepted, Herr Schäffer, responded Horst. Have a safe and
fine day here. Likewise, said Walther, before he and Horst got out of their chairs and (alongside
Mother Pfenning) saluted one another. Afterwards, Walther picked up his knapsack and went
outside the office, and brushed any dust that might be resting on his spotless Hitlerjugend
uniform. Outside, in the stone hallways, Walther was then greeted by an oncoming group of well
groomed BDM girls. Interestingly, one of the girls wore a strange looking pendant that was
unfamiliar to him, for it was not part of the official uniform of the BDM. To make things even
interesting, one of the girls stopped to greet him, which her accomplices do so as a result. You
must be the new kid that everyone s been talking about, the girl greeted Walther by saluting him.
Nice of you to have noticed, Walther smiled as he saluted back at the girl in response, before
shaking her hand. My name is Walther...Walther Schäffer. And you must be...? Matilde, Ostara,
dressed in her original BDM uniform, told Walther. These girls that I am

What Is The Theme Of Contrapasso In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s Inferno, a permeating theme of the work is the idea of contrapasso. Contrapasso is
only mentioned once and late in the Inferno in Canto XXVIII of XXXIV by Bertran de Born: In
me you may observe fit punishment / CosГ s osserva in me lo contrapasso (XXVIII. 142). Although
the literary device of contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno, the tool is used in
every circle and subdivision in hell. Contrapasso is seen in the punishments of the damned in a
physical manifestation, which represents an appropriate mode of retribution in terms of a kind of
divine justice. In Dante s Inferno, contrapasso, while it describes the physical agony of the damned
as fit punishment for their habitual sins, represents the damage... Show more content on

Dante does not compare the lustful to just any animal; Dante compares them to birds. Dante
does this by writing: As, in cold weather, the wings of starlings / bear them up in wide, dense
flocks, / so does that blast propel the wicked spirits (V. 40 42). The lustful are not only compared
to starlings, but are also compared to cranes: Just as cranes chant their mournful songs, / making
a long line in the air, / thus I saw approach, heaving plaintive sighs (V. 46 48). Comparing the
wanton to birds does two things to them. First, it makes the sinners less than human as the
medieval point of view held that lust is the property of beings less than human (Hollander, p.
103). Secondly, it makes the sinners less than birds because birds are able to control where they
fly, while the lustful are not. Dante explains a little bit why the lecherous are punished the way
they are. He states that he understood that to such torment / the carnal sinners are condemned,
/ they who make reason subject to desire (V. 37 39). Desire governs the wantons reason instead of
reason governing their desire. Since will instead of reason governed the sinners choices in their
lives, then in hell they are experiencing the physical representation of the choices their souls made.
The lustful are at the will of the wind, which blows them anywhere without any direction. This
parallels the choices they made in life as their wills guided them without the direction of the
intellect. The

China Beijing Olympic Games And The Environmental Impact...
Introduction
As the development of the world, sustainable development is becoming more and more remarkable
among the public. Meanwhile the environmental impacts on worldwide mega sport events are
catching an increasing attention. However the environmental impacts are complex and difficult to
be assessed quantitatively, in spite of event stakeholders often insist that it is as important as social
and economic legacies (Collins, Jones, Munday, 2009). In the recent decade, several significant
mega sports events took place which related to issues of environmental impacts, sustainability and
greening events, such as several Olympic Games, Rugby World Cup, and FIFA World Cup. Since
the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad defined the Beijing
Olympic would be People s Olympics, Green Olympics, and High Tech Olympics (2002). This
essay focuses on 2008 Beijing Olympic Game, and the environmental impact that the game faced.
At the beginning of this essay, a brief historic background of Beijing Olympic will be introduces,
and a definition of environmental impact will be presented with some discussions. In the following
part, some more detailed discussion will be studied between Beijing Olympic and environmental
impact based on researches. The paper will reveal the environmental issues occurred during the
game. Moreover, plans and solutions that proposed by the host government also will be listed and
analysed. After that, a list of recommendations will be

The, Atheists, Or Agonists
I find it interesting that for people who have no religious affiliation, or belief in God, form these
groups of nones , atheists, or agonists. What strikes me as interesting is that while they may not
believe or struggle to believe or support a particular faith or religion, they feel the need to form
large groups or organizations that defends their right not to believe. We all have our basic human
rights and freedoms to express ourselves as we see personally fit. So why do people feel the need
to defend that or even hide it? I found this article interesting for various reasons. It really did not
surprise me to learn that almost a quarter of the population in the United Statesmakes up this group
of nones. While that may not seem like the majority of the population, I feel like that number
will begin to climb as our future generations grow up. I think for the longest time our culture and
politics were based heavily on religious influences for fear of backlash and disapproval from the
general population. Today people are encouraged to be open and to be themselves. We are
encouraged to accept all people regardless of their religion, color, sex, or even their sexual
preference. I think because of these things, people no longer feel like they have to hide their true
identity for fear that their religious communities or even the social community will not accept them.
Maybe for these reasons people lost faithin the religious community as well. Many of these beliefs

The Global Ascent Of The Nation State Essay
Those born after 1980 may take for granted the fact that the world is made up of about 200 nation
states, which appear to be more or less equal in terms of the legitimacy of their nationhood.
However, history suggests that not all nation states are created in quite the same way. According to
Wimmer and Feinstein: the global ascent of the nation state over the pass 200 years was a
discontinuous process, unfolding in various waves linked to the break up of large empires. By
comparing the creation of nation states in the nineteenth century to those of the twentieth century, it
is evident that, while the end result was the same, the means of creating nation states can be quite
different. There are many factors and events which lead up to independence and nation state
creation, such as nationalist sentiment, revolution, war, treaties, and tensions between people and
rulers.
Nation states created in the nineteenth century are more akin to what Montserrat Guibernau defines
as nations . Based on Guibernau s definition, nations are groups of people conscious of forming a
community, and they share a common past and culture. Conversely, in the process of creating a
nation state, a group hopes to develop the community after the fact. Nation states may be the result
of a treaty or consolidation of ethnic territories, meaning their histories can be fragmented and
incongruent. The new nation states of the nineteenth century, namely of France and the United
States of America, are

  • 2. Essay on Experiment and De100 Module Team Tma05, Introduction to a de100 project on the likeness of a logo A fictitious educational experiment was created and conducted by a team on the DE100 module and therefore they had to maintain plan and undertake a project to pinpoint their potential findings; this therefore meant launching a logo for internet TV channel in order to address whether or not evaluative conditioning works in either experimental or control conditions. The logo was used to question if it would attract an audience and if they liked it. Evaluate conditioning is where a person is likely to like or dislike something because it has been associated with something positive or negative (Brace N, 2014, P 159). We can be unaware of evaluate conditioning and exactly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This validates the position that evaluative conditioning mechanisms can endorse positive attitudes (The Open University). Evaluative conditioning operative comes from Brace who had suggested that people make associations either positively or negatively when they are transferred. An interesting example is used by Brace who explains that people take a dislike to other people s names, it is suggested that this is caused by a like or dislike to a particular name and it therefore becomes associated to a certain person. This can then affect an individual s behaviour and attitude without being aware of it. Chen et al verified this by sharing similarities with findings to those that were found by the DE100 module team. Chen et al was interested in whether or not the findings would differ when pairing the sporting event with a sporting celebrity compared to a non sporting celebrity would make a difference in participant s attitudes. The participants who were in the experimental condition with a celebrity who had viewed the slides had developed a positive attitude than those in the control condition with no celebrity and sports. The method used in both DE100 module team s and the Chen s study were straightforward this therefore shows a strength and it now means that any future replications can be conducted with ease. The participants who took part were known to the experimenter may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Rural Tourism And Urban Tourism For some time, rural areas have seen a marked decrease in economic potential as a result of the urbanization of most areas in the United States. Unlike many of the more populated areas, rural areas are home to small communities that exist over a vast amount of land. Farmers, cattle herders and the like often suffer from a lack of economic certainty whereas their profits hinge on the conditions around them. It has become increasingly necessary to implement new methods of revitalizing the economies of ruralareas in order to create a more equally profitable nation. There are many historical landmarks, key events and persons of interest all over the United States and that appeal only appreciates over time. Many rural areas are beginning to capitalize on the industry that seems to bring the most unbridle profit, tourism. Rural tourism is inclusive of many experiences that take place in a rural setting from eco tourism to ethno tourism. There are many misconceptions that exist about the benefits of rural tourism and the criticisms most often point towards the disruption of the existing community. Yet the implementation of a successful rural tourism industry has proved beneficial according to several studies conducted in the U.S. For instance, according to the Economic Research Service Rural tourism and recreational development results in lower local poverty rates and improvements in other social conditions, such as local educational attainment and health (measured by mortality ... Basswood was popular around the 80 s and favored among shredders for its ability to produce smooth sounds deprived of sharp edges. The light color and almost non existent grain pattern make this wood great for solid colors or backing a figured top. It is stiff, lightweight, and very stable making it very popular among builders in the industry. Overall basswood is growly, with a warm tone and nice mids. Within the guitar industry there are two widely used types of Ash, there s Northern Ash and Swamp Ash, Swamp ash typically comes from the Southern Parts of America. Their root systems grow under water, ultimately lightening the wood and adding stiffness. Swamp Ash is highly resonate with a mid range roar. Observing Physical Evidence The procedure should accomplish that each type of physical evidence, whether an intact object, pieces of an object, blood, glass, liquids, or gasses, must be collected, marked or tagged, packaged, transported, and stored properly to be later admitted in to evidence in court. The maintaining proper chain of custody is particularly important when the object is one that is not unique or when questions could be raised about changes in the condition of the object, unique or not. Upon arrival at a crimescene, the officer should first quickly determine if anyone is injured or needs medical treatment and, if so, summon the health professionals. Then the officer should survey the crime scene, quickly determine whom to interview, and move nonessential individuals out of the area. • 13. Differences Between American Colonies And New England... The American colonies were a diverse and interesting people. The colonies are typically split between the New England colonies and the Southern colonies. While both sets of colonies would eventually make up what is now the original thirteen colonies of the United States, they both had their similarities and differences. What led to the differences of the two sets of colonies and how were they similar? This question was relevant then and it is relevant in today s world. The southern colonies were mainly controlled by an elite class of planters that owned the most land and had the most slaves. Below them were the small farmers that had a few slaves and much smaller plots of land and at the bottom were the landless white people. This social ladder made up the economic and political worlds in the south. The planters were the most powerful politically and the most wealthy. This is in sharp contrast to the New England colonies that were more focused on preserving a familial line and focused on their families rather than on the next crop growth. The south had very fertile land and this led to the planters taking over the social landscape. • 14. Examples Of Foolishness In King Lear In Shakespeare s King Lear the relationship between wisdom and foolishness is explored through the characters Lear and Gloucester. Throughout the play, both characters were foolish based on their decisions, and after losing everything they had, they came to see how inappropriately they acted. Through this realization they gained wisdom by taking responsibility for their actions, and by making amends with those they had let down. In this play, Shakespeare demonstrates how gaining this insight can be difficult, heartbreaking, and often times one may end up with nothing but a new found wisdom. The beginning of these characters journey to insight must unfortunately start with foolishness. The play starts with King Lear asking his 3 daughters how much they love him. Lear, not thinking about the sincerity of Cordelia s gesture or the genuine words she has spoken, is only offended and enraged that she did not flatter his ego like her sisters. Lear disowns Cordelia and decides to split his kingdom between selfish sisters Regan and Goneril. This decision is the snowball that keeps on rolling; growing into a bigger and bigger mess throughout the story. King Lear was idiotic in not analyzing the situation. He could not see that Cordelia was the only daughter that truly loved him and that Regan and Goneril only loved what he had to give them. Lear s second foolish decision was physically giving his land to Regan and Goneril. Since Lear couldn t see how selfish his daughters were in their answers, he gave all his land and all his power to them. Lear also had people bring to his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What we got was a jumbled mess of garbage for 2 1/2 hours. Was the action of them fighting good? Yeah, it was okay, but it was far from good. I m not sure why directors think the best action scenes are done while it s night time and raining is the best time, but this was another occurrence of It s dark and the camera is shaking a lot. So, I wrote a review of the movie that wasn t too positive about the movie, but I still wanted to see it again to make sure it was as bad as my first impression gave me. Not only was I right about the movie being bad, but I had to cover my mouth from laughter so many times that I was afraid I was going to be kicked out of the theater. John Froelich was a grain elevator operator, and every harvesting season he would go a thresh farmer s fields, and after years of using his bulky, heavy steam powered threshing machine he decided in 1890 to try and mount a gasoline engine on his threshing machine. Summer gets kidnapped by a man named Clover, who is trying to make his, perfect family. He keeps four girls in his basement at a time and calls them all by names of flowers, Lilly, Poppy, Rose, and Violet. Summer, who is referred to as Lilly while she is kidnapper, spends seven months with three other girls in the cellar trying to survive until they finally escape. While Lilly is in the cellar she has to watch many horrible things happen, for example, girls getting stabbed to death by Clover. At the end of the book the police arrive at Clover s house to rescue the girls. After the girls are found Lilly returns to live a normal life with her familyand new friends. Natasha Preston used indirect characterization to reveal her characters. We know indirect characterization was used because, we learned more about Summer as time went on and as she interacted with other characters. The reader learned her character traits by the way she acted and who her friends were, rather than the author coming out and telling us about her. Analyse the factors that causes differences in the hazards posed by volcanoes around the world (40 marks) A hazard can be define as something which poses a level of threat the life, health, property or environment, a volcano can compromise all these things through the many hazards volcanoes presents. Such as lahars, flash flooding, landslides, pyroclastic flows, ash clouds and many others. There are factors which can influence the severity of the hazard and cause differences in them and can be classified into different categories, such as physical, economic, political and social. One physical factor which causes differences in a volcanic hazard is the steepness of the volcano. If the volcanoes sides are of a steep gradient then the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another physical factor is snow; if a volcano is snow capped, like Eyjafjallajokull, then the lahars and flash floods become a greater hazard. The flooding in Iceland in 2010 caused 700 people to be evacuated. Without the snow then lahars and floods may not be a problem at all. The location of the volcano is also important. If it is situated on a constructive plate boundary then it is generally less explosive, and therefore poses different threats to volcanoes situated on a destructive plate boundary. The volcano may also be situated on a hotspot like in Hawaii, where the eruptions aren t very explosive. Volcanos which aren t explosive can pose other threats to lava flows though, such as dangerous gases being released. Like in Lake Nyos, Cameroon where 1700 people died. Wind direction could also cause difference in the hazards, like during the Eyjafjallajokull eruption of 2010. If the wind was blowing in a different direction then the ash cloud wouldn t have been distributed across the Atlantic and Europe, meaning that there would have been a lot less air travel disruption. Then the ash cloud wouldn t have been a hazard as it wouldn t pose a threat to anyone. Ultimately physical factors determine which hazards are posed by the volcano and how intensive and threatening they are to human life. However they are not the sole factors that causes differences in hazards posed by volcanos. Settlement is a huge human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Symptoms And Treatment Of Renal Disorders Essay Abstract MicroRNAs (miRNA) are endogenously produced short non coding regulatory RNAs that can repress gene expression by posttranscriptional mechanisms. They can therefore influence both normal and pathological conditions in diverse biological systems. Several miRNAs have been detected in kidneys where they have been found to be crucial for renal development and normal physiological functions as well as significant contributors to the pathogenesis of renal disorders such as diabetic nephropathy, acute kidney injury, lupus nephritis, polycystic kidney disease, and others due to their effects on key genes involved in these disease processes. miRNAs have also emerged as novel biomarkers in these renal disorders. Due to increasing evidence of their actions in various kidney segments, in this mini review, we discuss the functional significance of altered miRNA expression during the development of renal pathologies and highlight emerging miRNA based therapeutics and diagnostic strategies for early detection and treatment of kidney diseases. Introduction microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) are a unique class of short (в€ ј22 nucleotides) single stranded endogenous noncoding RNAs (7, 8). miRNAs contain nucleotide sequences complementary to binding sites on the 3′ untranslated regions (3′ UTRs) of protein coding messenger RNA (mRNA) transcripts. Through direct binding to the mRNA 3′ UTRs, miRNAs can induce repression of target gene expression (57). Individual miRNAs can often engage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Reflection Paper In Counseling Self reflection Paper Productiveness The most productive part of the counseling session was when I found myself thinking about how I left my door unlocked and windows open, which did leave to an awkward pause, however I regained self awareness and began to discuss how the client and I will discuss his goals in a future session. The reason I found this to be the most productive was because it pushed me to regain control in an effective way and demonstrated that counselors makes mistakes to the client, which could add to the authenticity aspect. Problem Areas There are several areas of which I need to improve upon. One of the biggest areas of improvement would include be responding opposed to reacting. For example when the client stated, I train my dog to go to the bathroom on my neighbor s lawn and I don t have a dog. I immediately began laughing. I should have paused, then responded with a clarifying question. Another problem area was, the awkward pauses and loose structure. I believe I had several awkward pauses throughout the session as a result of overthinking. I should have stated what came to me naturally instead of worrying about saying it correctly or in a specific order. Ethics Ethics appeared in this session when discussing the informed consent. The reason a counselor goes over informed consent with their client is because the categories within the form can lead to ethical dilemmas if left unclear. In this session, I felt as though I had gone over each category in the document. Though with that being said, I feel that next session I will elaborate in a more concise and efficient manner. In this session, I was a bit unorganized and reiterated a lot of the same information. Multicultural Competencies Unfortunately I do not feel that I grew in a multicultural competent manner. I think that when the client and I have our next session, there will be room to grow culturally because the focus will be on him, not the informed consent. Self Advocacy When the client and I discussed the referral process and areas outside of my scope of practice that I believe spoke to the self advocacy piece. Nietzsche Good Vs Evil The Good, The Bad, and The Jealous: An Examination of Ressentiment, according to Nietzsche In his book, Genealogy of Morals, Nietzsche examines the origins of Good and Evil. He postures that these two concepts are derived from language, rather than essential morality. He argues that people label things as good or evil based upon their personal feelings and position of privilege. Douglas Smith translated this edition of Genealogy of Morals into English, but he also included explanations of some of Nietzsche s key concepts. According to Smith, A central concept in Nietzsche s argument, ressentiment is the essence of slave morality, a purely reactive mode of feeling which simply negates the active and spontaneous affirmation of values on the part of the nobility (142). Ressentiment stems from the oppressed party s jealousy. The oppressed do not accept that it is bad that they do not have the luxuries and rights that the nobility posses. Such writers spanned from Alexis de Tocqueville, to John Stuart Mill, to Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The interpretations and approaches taken to the subject of tyranny and how to protect against it, though, were as varied as the collection of authors who addressed it. In contrast, John Stuart Mill s essay On Liberty focuses almost entirely on Mill s idea of how forms of tyranny have evolved throughout history, and how the most pressing form is a new tyranny of the majority in which the force of the public opinion is used to silence individuals. Mill seeks to describe how in the past, protection against the tyranny of political rulers was necessary to ensure the liberty of individuals, but the problem now has evolved from tyrannical political leaders to an oppressive public that may desire to oppress a part of their number (Mill 7). Similar to Mill, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels make the subject of tyranny the focus of The Communist Manifesto; choosing to utilize the manifesto to dissect the tyrannical ways that the bourgeoisie operates in society. Written as an observation of the struggles of the working class stemming from the Industrial Revolution, The Communist Manifesto delineates how bourgeois society has established new classes, new conditions of oppression, [and] new forms of struggle for the working class proletariat (Marx Engels 3). • 38. What Does It Mean To Say That Art Is A Lie Pablo Picasso once said Art is a lie that brings us closer to the truth . From this statement a lot can be interpreted leading to different ideas and I think most prominent is the relationship between art, the truth and lies. Pablo Picasso makes two assumptions in his assertion, the first concerning the first section which addresses the fact that art is a lie. The second assumption is made whereby art is given a purpose brings us closer to the truth which creates a paradox that truth can develop and exist in a lie. Furthermore his statement of the two contradictory suggestions leads us to understand that art is a representation of the truth or truths and reality which are perceived by humans as lies. Art is a wide and broad Area of Knowledge that incorporates a lot of art forms and a form that has dominated our modern times is film. Taking this into account, Picasso s statement will be analyzed in relation to film on the basis of two contradictory claims on art, lies and truth.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The controversy rises when discussing what exactly does Picasso mean by art, is it just in paintings and visual expression or rather more deeper and bigger context. Leading to another question on the context of his statement. To what extent does context affect our understanding of Knowledge? A very good example that reinforces this is The Matrix , which is a well known movie series that greatly deals with the idea of perception vs reality whereby people what people perceive to be the truth and reality is really just an illusion and deception. In William Kennedy s novel Ironweed, the story is set in Albany, New York, during the 1930 s otherwise known as the Great Depression. In the story, the main character Francis Phelan lives as a bum and can be described as a classic antihero on a lengthy quest for forgiveness from both the living and the dead. It is the story of one man s physical and emotional struggle for survival and redemption as the guilt from his dark past become ghosts in his everyday life. This lasted more than a decade and many were compelled to leave their homes in search of job opportunities (Dupuis 1) Although this was the case, Francis Phelan was not homeless because of this reason, but because he chose to run away, commit murders, and spend his money on alcohol. • 45. Summary Of Jude s The Of Jude JOURNAL OF JUDE BY: ROSECEL M. RENDON 1. EPISTLE S AUTHORSHIP Jude was the brother of Jesus and he wrote this epistle after he became a believer in Jesus Christ. We need to remember as it is written, Jude and James, both brothers of Jesus, did not believe that He was the Messiah, the son of God. But after His resurrection everything changed and now he called himself a brother of James and a servant of Jesus Christ which shows the humility of Jude and the unimportance for him to be the half brother of Jesus in human terms but most important to believe in Him as our savior and king. To Jude, the blood of the cross was more important than the family blood. 2. DATE OF WRITING The Epistle of Jude is closely related to 2 Peter, and the date of writing depends on whether Jude borrowed from 2 Peter or 2 Peter borrowed from Jude. It is believed it was written somewhere between the years 60 to 80 A.D. 3. PURPOSE AND OCCASION OF WRITING: Jude had to deal with the dangers of false doctrines sneaking in the church. There were godless men, false teachers who were living sinful lives and misrepresenting the grace of God, they denied the Lordship of Jesus Christ and began teaching doctrines of self righteousness and a false freedom they represented. This brought Jude, led by the Holy Spirit, to deal strongly with these men, false teachers. At a point in history a lot of moors occupied a great portion of Spain and they created some beautiful architecture with a Spanish twist to it which includes the great mosque of Cordoba which has a church embedded in it. Throughout history the Spanish architecture has been shaped by the changing trends in Europe. In the start of the 12th century the gothic style was introduced which greatly influenced the styles in the buildings like the cathedral of Toledo, Burgos and Leon. The renaissance trend in Europe greatly influenced the Spanish architecture. Spanish architectures were not just about buildings they were also a means of communication. Each architecture that was created reflected the community s values, pursuits and culture. Each Spanish building erected showed the dominance of a cultural group in the community and the geographical area it was erected in showed the extent of their power and dominance. Such buildings often bore an identifying sign for example the sign of a church was different from that of a mosque. The church s sign was significantly that of a cross while that of a mosque bore that of a crescent moon and a star and it signified the significance or dominance of a religious group or cultural group in that area. The middle ages were an exciting period in the history of Spanish architecture and it was at that time there was the entrance of the moors which means Muslim in Spanish. And there was a clash between Muslims and Christians in that time of history. At that time the Christians and Muslims emerged their cultures together to form the Mozarabic architecture. (Cohen Mohrman, 1995) Teamwork is used everyday, everywhere in business organisations. It is an important way of bringing people together, developing stronger bonds between members and quickly tackling large projects. There have been many theorists who have developed conflicting theories regarding the pros and cons of working in teams, thus the ageing problem in hand is firstly being able to identify these advantages and disadvantages, and secondly trying to find solutions to reducing or avoiding these disadvantages. The ability to do this is of paramount importance for leaders everywhere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Allport argued that the key to resolving conflict was better interaction between members. The foundation of this argument is that interaction consolidates a feeling of group identity resulting in stronger bonds between group members and encourages friendships. In this way, if we examine Allport s theory with reference to Guirdham s, we could see that team members might be less likely to abuse group norms. However, one problem that could arise as a follow on from encouraging team members to become friendly with one another is the idea of groupthink, which I shall discuss shortly. The second advantage I am going to discuss is that group members all motivate one another. In order to provide evidence for this statement it is necessary to re examine one of the theories mentioned earlier; Group norms (Guirdham, 1995). Guirdham suggests that every team member is encouraged to adopt these four norms which encourages stronger bonds between the team members and can convert simple group members into friends. This therefore leads to an environment in which everybody gets along. However, it could be argued that there are two major consequences and disadvantages that may arise through this type of approach. I already touched upon the first one; somebody in the group may abuse the group norms and morale may be lowered. The second is the idea of groupthink (Janis, 1972). Although the literary device of contrapasso is only mentioned once and late in the Inferno, the tool is used in every circle and subdivision in hell. Dante does not compare the lustful to just any animal; Dante compares them to birds. Dante does this by writing: As, in cold weather, the wings of starlings / bear them up in wide, dense flocks, / so does that blast propel the wicked spirits (V. 40 42). The lustful are not only compared to starlings, but are also compared to cranes: Just as cranes chant their mournful songs, / making a long line in the air, / thus I saw approach, heaving plaintive sighs (V. 46 48). Comparing the wanton to birds does two things to them. First, it makes the sinners less than human as the medieval point of view held that lust is the property of beings less than human (Hollander, p. 103). Secondly, it makes the sinners less than birds because birds are able to control where they fly, while the lustful are not. Dante explains a little bit why the lecherous are punished the way they are. He states that he understood that to such torment / the carnal sinners are condemned, / they who make reason subject to desire (V. 37 39). Desire governs the wantons reason instead of reason governing their desire. Since will instead of reason governed the sinners choices in their lives, then in hell they are experiencing the physical representation of the choices their souls made. The lustful are at the will of the wind, which blows them anywhere without any direction. This parallels the choices they made in life as their wills guided them without the direction of the intellect. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What strikes me as interesting is that while they may not believe or struggle to believe or support a particular faith or religion, they feel the need to form large groups or organizations that defends their right not to believe. We all have our basic human rights and freedoms to express ourselves as we see personally fit. So why do people feel the need to defend that or even hide it? I found this article interesting for various reasons. It really did not surprise me to learn that almost a quarter of the population in the United Statesmakes up this group of nones. While that may not seem like the majority of the population, I feel like that number will begin to climb as our future generations grow up. I think for the longest time our culture and politics were based heavily on religious influences for fear of backlash and disapproval from the general population. Today people are encouraged to be open and to be themselves. We are encouraged to accept all people regardless of their religion, color, sex, or even their sexual preference. I think because of these things, people no longer feel like they have to hide their true identity for fear that their religious communities or even the social community will not accept them. Maybe for these reasons people lost faithin the religious community as well. Many of these beliefs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. The Global Ascent Of The Nation State Essay Those born after 1980 may take for granted the fact that the world is made up of about 200 nation states, which appear to be more or less equal in terms of the legitimacy of their nationhood. However, history suggests that not all nation states are created in quite the same way. According to Wimmer and Feinstein: the global ascent of the nation state over the pass 200 years was a discontinuous process, unfolding in various waves linked to the break up of large empires. By comparing the creation of nation states in the nineteenth century to those of the twentieth century, it is evident that, while the end result was the same, the means of creating nation states can be quite different. There are many factors and events which lead up to independence and nation state creation, such as nationalist sentiment, revolution, war, treaties, and tensions between people and rulers. Nation states created in the nineteenth century are more akin to what Montserrat Guibernau defines as nations . Based on Guibernau s definition, nations are groups of people conscious of forming a community, and they share a common past and culture. Conversely, in the process of creating a nation state, a group hopes to develop the community after the fact. Nation states may be the result of a treaty or consolidation of ethnic territories, meaning their histories can be fragmented and incongruent.
