King Lear Vs Quarto Essay
King Lear was first printed in 1608. This initial printing is now referred to as the First Quarto.
Another Quarto version was printed in 1619, and King Lear appeared again in a 1623 Folio
edition. The First Quarto contains 300 lines not found in the Folio, and the Folio contains 100
lines not found in the First Quarto. Because many differences exist between the Quarto and Folio
editions, some recent anthologies of Shakespeare s works contain play text from both editions,
and may also include a conflated edition derived from a combination of both the First Quarto and
Folio versions. Although the text was not printed until 1608, the play was performed in December
1606. The exact date of composition is not known, so scholars often try to base the point in time
on references in the play itself. Because of this uncertainty and the textual references, the
composition of King Lear may have taken place anywhere from 1604 to 1606.... Show more content

The Philippines Of Martial Law In The Philippines
Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law in the Philippines in 1972. The implementation allowed the
military to have the highest authority in the country along with the President and allowed
thousands of Filipino s rights to be abused. It ended after 21 years when Marcos finally was ousted
out of office. Bangsa Moro refers to the 13 ethno linguistic Muslim tribes in the Philippines. They
composed 1/4th of the population in Mindanao. Though each tribe differs in traditions, culture, and
dialects, they all share the same religion of Islam. The Moro People are divided in three main
groups which are the Maguindanaons, the Tausogs and the Maranaos. Each group and tribe
commonly face the struggle for self determination. Starting from the Spanish colonization, as
Christianization spread through the country, Islamic advancement completely stopped and
prejudices against Muslims began in the Philippines. During the American colonization, they
declared the entire country as independent while annexing Mindanao. These showcase that since
the beginning of Philippine history, the Moro people have been oppressed by the different ruling
bodies of the nation. The implementation of Martial Law in 1972 worsened the situation when the
military attacked Mindanao which sparked the war between the Muslim rebels and the
government. Now many Moro people are bombed out of their homes due to the current
proclamation of Martial Law in Mindanao. In the early 70s, several massacres

Summary Of War Of The Rats
War of the Rats The Battle of Stalingrad, perhaps the single most critical and certainly one of the
bloodiest battles of World War II, is a great setting for a historical fiction story. His story centers
on a duel to the death between two men: Chief Master Sgt. Vasily Zaitsev, sniper, one of the best
of the Russian army, and a German SS colonel named Heinz Thorvald, the Nazis greatest
marksman. When Russian snipers led by Zaitsev begin to take a demoralizing toll of German
troops, picking them off like hunters shooting bears, the high command in Berlin dispatches
Thorvald to the battlefield with orders to accomplish a single task: kill Zaitsev. A deadly contest
ensues, with Robbins skillfully building up each of his protagonists as so deadly in their
murderous crafts as to make them feared as a person and well liked as a reader. It is not David
versus Goliath, but Hercules versus Zeus, the manly conflict of two equally matched and equally
remorseless adversaries. The story moreover is based, Robbins writes in the introduction, on two
real historical figures, though it is unclear whether the real Zaitsev and Thorvald engaged in the
kind of duel described in War of the Rats. Robbins opens with a German lieutenant named
Hofstetter who makes the mistake of tilting his head back to drink from a canteen and is dropped
by a single shot from a distant rifle. We, then, meet his killer, the Russian Zaitsev, who, before
World War II, was a hunter on the Siberian taiga, instructed

Sexual Assault And Assault Response And Prevention Program
History Sexual assault has plagued the military since its inception. The chain of command (COC)
is responsible for maintaining the good order and conduct of our service members (SMs).
Unfortunately, the U.S. military has not been able to effectively combat the occurrences of sexual
assault. Billions of taxpayer dollars have been thrown at the problem, programs have been
implemented and task forces have been mobilized. To combat this epidemic, the Sexual Harassment
/Assault Response and Prevention program (SHARP) is the U.S. militarys main effort. SHARP is
designed to promote advocacy and provide support for victims of sexual assault, in order to
decrease or eliminate the instances of sexual assault among SMs. However, the problem of... Show

Removing the authority from the victim s COC is believed to reduce bias and the fear of
retaliation by commanding officers (COs). Within 180 days of the enactment of the bill,
administrative hierarchies will convene to create policies and procedures to adhere to the
mandates of S.1752. Within the deadline, policies and procedures will be disseminated to the
lowest level in memorandum format (Military Justice Improvement Act, 2013). Victims of sexual
assault are intended to be empowered to safely and confidentially report a crime to their COC and
be assured that justice will be served without reprisal. S.1752 is designed to protect SMs who are
victims of sexual assault from a corrupt or neglectful COC by removing their authority in the matter.
Policy Analysis A systematic analysis of S.1752 is essential to forecasting potential intended and
untended consequences of the bill. Context will also be considered to ensure a balanced and
unbiased bill analysis. If the bill is enacted, it will become law until amended or repealed. The
extent to which this bill will accomplish it s purpose of removing the authority of sexual assault
cases from COs in the victim s COC is currently unknown. If enacted, S.1752 will be enforced by
prosecutors under the authority of the UCMJ. The economic feasibility is difficult to quantify

Relationship Between Teacher Training And Student...
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1Theoretical review
Meta analytic reviews reveal contradictory results with regard to the relationship between teacher
training and student achievement. Hanushek (1989, 1997; Fehrler et al., 2009) concluded that there
is no strong evidence to suggest that teacher training and teacher education has a positive effect on
student achievement. On the other hand, Greenwald et.al (1996) and Kane (2013) find a strong
relationship between teacher education and student achievement. Using a narrative synthesis of
individual studies, Wayne and Youngs (2003) argue that students test scores in English, History and
Science do not provide sufficient empirical evidence for drawing conclusions regarding the nature
of the relationship between teachers education and training and students achievement.
2.1.1Aspects of teacher training and education that affect teacher quality
The government plays a major role in determining the qualification of teachers. Governments
influences teacher quality by setting teacher qualification at a high level to so as to ensure
satisfactory teacher quality while taking into account the supply of qualified individuals. Minimum
qualification requirements for teachers tend to change over time. Teachers employed in the past
may not meet the set qualifications for new teachers, (UNESCO, 2012, 2014). Thus, the quality of
new teachers entering into the profession from initial training will tends to depend on several
factors including the

Animal Removal Services
ANIMAL REMOVAL SERVICES
Animal Removal services are very important agencies in bringing back the peace, comfort and
tranquility in our homes. Animals are very clever and they will always try to find shelter or even
nesting places when weather changes become unbearable either too hot or just a drop in the
temperatures or when a new one is about to join the camp. Such places might just be in our homes
most particularly in the upper roof where there are less destruction and a bit of warmth from the
chimney. However, this might pose really great challenge to the house owner such as bad smell or
even health related complications arising from the animals waste. They can also cause a lot of
challenges to the piping system, wiring and insulation which could cause great harm to the
owner. But, how does not get to evict such animals from his home especially if you are the scary
type ,considering it s not a good idea to just seal entry points as that would cause them to either

Economic Sanctions Advantages And Disadvantages
Economic Sanctions are a way of punishing errant countries which is more acceptable than
bombing or invading them. It s a way to sway the target government to change a policy. Some
Sanctions include limiting export or import trade and preventing transfers of money involving
citizens or the government of the target. Sanctions can be multilateral with many countries
acting together or unilateral when one country takes action on its own. Between 1914 and 1990
there were 116 sanctions that were imposed on countries and в…” of these failed to achieve their
stated goals. The cost of the country imposing the sanctions can be very large, particularly when
the country is acting unilaterally. It is estimated that in 1995 imposing sanctions on other
countries cost the American economy over 15 billion dollars in lost exports and 200 thousand
in lost jobs in export industries. (Evidence on the Costs and Benefits of Economic Sanctions)
Trade Sanctions are a lot more effective with more sanctioners but is harder to keep everyone
together. Think about this in terms of basic economics 101. This says that when demand falls,
then prices fall as well. One example is Iranian oil. The West is trying to change Iranian nuclear
behavior by imposing sanctions on this country and restricting the oil trade from Iran. If there s a
bunch of countries no longer buying Iranian oil then the price of Iranian oil will go down. Since
no one is buying their oil then the demand is going down and less people will

The Human Nature Of Consciousness Essay
Of all the objects in the universe, the human brain is the most complex. There are as many neurons
in the brain as there are stars in the Milky Way galaxy. , a quote from an issue of a Discover
magazine article. But what comes from this complexion? The answer is thought. Consciousness has
been quarreled between writers, scientists, priests, atheists and everyone in between. The priest says
it is divine and cannot be explained, the atheist says no it s evolution. The writer romanticizes it,
creating characters that contain the free will of the author but have more unrealistic complexion
than any real humancharacter. Scientists explain that we are in a state of awareness and that
consciousness cannot be entirely explained as it is subjective and objectively, it cannot be
measured. Human existence has transcended from being a simple organism living with survival
instincts: hunting and gathering food for our kin, to working boring jobs to feed the family and
to have just enough leisurely time to assure yourself not to jump off the nearest building to end it
all. The question is can an organism become complex enough to consciously choose what they
believe is morally right with free will. Do we live for others or ourselves? Does consciousness
actually exist and how do we prove it?
For many, memory is the proof of consciousness, as well as being proof of life. History, being
observed as it s definition, is ultimate proof that humans can think, are thinking, and will think,

Effective Leadership Principals
It is important to enlist teachers as potential leaders to support ongoing improvement of teacher

Principals, now more than ever, are expected to be visionaries, resource directors, instructional
leaders, and building managers (Danielson, 2007). In every building, there are teachers whose
vision and expertise drives them to seek opportunities for leadership, coaching, curriculum

to expand their horizons, we build apathy, cynicism and an air of complacency. Teaching

Claude Manet – Impressionism – 19Th . Oscar-Claude Monet
Claude Manet Impressionism 19th
Oscar Claude Monet was a founder of French Impressionist painting, and the most consistent and
productive expert of the movement s philosophy of communicating one s observations before
nature particularly applied to plein air landscape painting. The expression Impressionism is from the
title of his piece Impression, soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise), which was shown in 1874 in the
first of the independent presentations mounted by Monet and his partners as an alternate choice to
the Salon de Paris.

that showed up in the pivotal 1874 presentation, however more as of late, the Moscow picture has

Monet has been portrayed as the main thrust behind Impressionism . Essential to the art of the
Impressionist painters was the comprehension of the effects of light on the local colour of objects,
and the impacts of the contrast of hues with each other. Monet s long profession as a painter was
spent in the quest for this aim.
In 1856, his shot meeting with Eugene Boudin, a painter of little beaches, opened his eyes to the
idea of plein air painting. From that time, with a short intrusion for military administration, he
committed himself to hunting down better than ever strategies for painterly expression.
In 1877 a progression of works of art at St Lazare Station had Monet taking a gander at smoke and
steam and the way that they influenced shading and perceivability, being here and there misty and
some of the time translucent. He was to further utilize this in study in the painting of the effects of
mist and rain on the landscape. The investigation of the impacts of climate was to develop into
various arrangements of works of art in which Monet often painted a similar subject in various
lights, at various hours of the day, and through the

Theme Of Jealousy In Othello
Jealousy. The fuel for destruction.
Throughout Oliver Parker s 1995 film Othello , jealousy is apparent. Parker displays the possessive
theme of jealousy throughout the entirety of the film while also demonstrating how it may also
lead to acts of revenge; being another vital theme in Othello . The tragedy Othello focuses on the
catastrophe of Othello and many other characters in the film as a result of jealousy.
I was fortunate enough to sit down with the well renowned director, Oliver Parker, to discuss his
film adaptations of William Shakespeare s tragic play, Othello as well as the dangers of Jealousy
in his film on certain characters.
Mr. Parker, your film has been critiqued for focusing so heavily on jealousy. How did you manage
to portray the idea of jealousy as a theme in your film?
I have represented jealousy in the film, as one of the most corrupting and destructive theme. It is
jealousy that encourages Iago to scheme Othello s downfall. Through the juxtaposition of Othello s
naive nature and Iago s spiteful villainy, the image of jealousy is truly personified as an all
consuming green eyed monster .
Other characters such as, Roderigo and Bianca demonstrate jealousy at various times in the film,
and Emilia demonstrates that she too knows the emotion well. Only Desdemona and Cassio, the
true innocents of the story, seem beyond its clutches.
Since it is an emotion that everyone shares, we watch its destructive influence on the characters
with sympathy and horror.
The final scenes are significant and essential in conveying jealousy as they show the consequences
and horrific outcome it has had on many characters. A number of characters are killed because of
jealousy consequently making it one of the most destructive themes in the film.
The theme of jealousy is clearly prominent throughout the film as it influences the characters
actions. The major characters of Iago and Othello clearly possess this jealousy and express how it
affects them. Iago is forced to expose his actual nature and Othello undergoes a total transformation
from a normal human to a spiteful monster. Evidently, jealousy does cause people to change in
horrific ways.
How have you used the characters throughout the

The Right And Freedom Of Vote
Democracy is a term that is common to all Canadians and many other global citizens around the
world. However, the right and freedom to vote in a government in which the general public
chooses is a concept that many people do not take full advantage of. One of the largest groups of
citizens who tend to not be politically involved are Canada s youth and young adults. Many ask
why it is this certain group that decides to distance themselves from the polling stations during
electiontimes. Could it be the disinterest in voting? Could it be the participation in other non
electoral outlets, such as protest groups? One of the main reasons that has been discussed, whether
it be in political science classrooms or sitting around the dinner table,... Show more content on

The best way to reach youth is through their main sources of entertainment and well being. Three
main areas that would be best to introduce politics to youth would be through the family, school
education and through social media. If these three outlets are properly utilized, the information
that youth voters understand about politics will hopefully encourage them to go out and vote on
election day. As youth get older, they look more to their peers for acceptance on many aspects of
life (SOURCE PSYCH BOOK). Although youth distance themselves from family as they get
older, they look to their parents and family for advice when they are younger. In order to strike
interest in youth, you must start early, in the years where families are still the most important
entity in their lives. Parents influence a child s core values from the day they are born. As
children grow up, the end of their days consist of family talks at dinner time and other family
connections, when so much time is spent around such influential sources, it should become the
responsibility of parents to speak to their children about politics; even to just make them aware of
the basics. Parents are the main influence on children, not only through values, but they teach
through example (SOURCE RCMP). If a child is to see their parents becoming politically involved

Telomere Research Paper
Time is of the essence! By the end of this research paper the reader will know the reasoning
behind time itself. A telomere is quite significant because it can detect cancer, diseases, and
aging. The telomer was discovered around the 1960 s by Dr. Leonard Hayflick he discovered it
by learning about how long a cell can live. There are billions of cells through plants, animals, and
humans it s how an organism operates. A telomer is at the end of each chromosome inside a
eukaryotecell (Plant and Animal Cell) and its importance is copying DNA(Deoxyribonucleic Acid).
DNA is the genetics that we obtain through our parents. If we could preserve the telomer to be
continuous then organisms can become eternal. A telomer holds the true meaning of... Show more

Telomere can be described as a weight lifting bar, telomers are at the end of each chromosome
like two weights on both ends of a bar. A chromosome is an organelle inside the eukaryotic cell
(animal and plant cell), chromosomes obtain genetic information forming genes. Plants,
animals, and humans contain trillions of cells throughout their anatomy. How does a telomere
relate to genetics? A telomere helps the cell reproduce DNA. Without copying DNA, it is
impossible for a cell to live. In 2009 a Noble Prize was won by three experts on heredity
discovered the telomere genetic code. One of their significant pieces of this research was in the
1970 s when they did a critical research paper on isolating the sequence of telomeres. They
quickly discovered a telomer is used many times each use the telomere breaks off when the
DNA is replicated that s when the length of the telomer shrinks. Before a telomere was
discovered Dr. Leonard Hayflick discovered how long a cell can live and his results come out to
be 50 to 60 cycles. His results were not understood by scientist but they had faith in his research
they quickly understood once the telomer was discovered scientist concluded with a hypothesis if
they can control the length of a telomer than I cell can be indestructible it would live forever.

The Drug Of Red Blood Cells
Erythropoietin is a hormone that is produced by the kidneys in response to a decrease in the
oxygen carrying capacity of red blood cells in circulation (2). From the kidneys, erythropoietin
(EPO) enters the blood stream and enters the bone marrow where it stimulates an increase in the
production of red bloodcells (1, 2). This mechanism functions as a negative feedback loop since
the signaling of an increase in the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood due to an increased
number of red blood cells inhibits further production of EPO. The release of EPO is very sensitive
to the level of oxygen carrying capacity in the blood. The simple occurrence of red blood cells
death will trigger its release to ensure normal levels are maintained (1).... Show more content on

An important aspect to producing synthesized EPO is the use of mammalian cells. EPO contains
40% carbohydrates which are important to the stability and biosynthesis of recombinant EPO (5).
In 1984, EPO was able to be cloned and synthesized for use by using recombinant DNA
technology (1, 3, 4, 5). The biological properties of synthesized EPO are very similar to the original
hormone found naturally in the body (3). The importance of the mammalian cell carbohydrate
composition allowed for the carbohydrate portions of recombinant EPO to be almost identical to
the carbohydrate portions of native EPO (3). Success in creating synthetic EPO on a large scale that
mimics native EPO in humans allowed for the implementation of synthesized EPO for medicinal
purposes. Synthesized erythropoietin became the first hematopoietic growth factor to be used in
clinical settings (1). The discovery of synthesized EPO has provided patients with renal failure
and severe anemia the ability to reverse the effects of these disorders and improve the oxygen
carrying capacity of their circulatory system (1, 5). Individuals with kidney damage or renal
failure are in need of EPO the most. Since adults make EPO in their kidneys, any damage to the
renal system will alter the ability to produce enough EPO to sufficiently restore red blood cell levels
(1, 5).

Jainism Is An Environmentally Responsible Way Of Life
Mahavira said, All of life is just like me. I want to live. So do all souls, all living beings. The
instinct of self preservation is universal. Every animate being clings to life and fears death. Each
of us wants to be free from pain. So let me carry out all of my activities with great care not to be
harmful to any living being (as cited in Rosenfield Segall). Jainismis an ecologically responsible
way of life, which is non violent in thoughts, actions, and deeds (Pecorino, 2001). The heart of
Jainism is to live and practice ahimsa. This is the action by which all actions are judged (ahimsa|

all living souls have the potential of attaining enlightenment and immortality (Raghuram, 2004). If
you interrupt the spiritual progress or jiva of an insect, animal, plant or person, you will incur

are we drawn to the many different facets of violencethat we experience in our lives? Is violence a

Epoch Of Helen
Helen of Troy is regarded as the most beautiful woman in the world. She is desired by every man,
and she essentially started The Trojan War, which lasted 10 years. Helen is a central figure in
various Greek mythological stories for her beauty as well as for her decisions and actions. Despite
these main similarities, in various stories Helenis depicted totally differently. The way in which
Helen is portrayed is different from epoch to epoch, and from culture to culture. The three main
epochs that contain stories of Helen are the ancient Greek era, the medieval Christian era, and the
contemporary era. The two main Greek stories including Helen are Homer s Iliadand Odyssey. The

Every man desired her, yet she was stuck with an ugly King Menelaus, the ruler of the Spartans.
Helen, however, did know her sheer beauty and because of this she was very frivolous, and that
led to her being unfaithful to Menelaus, and she ran off with Paris, son of Priam, the ruler of
Troy. Troy was a rival city state of the Spartans, and thus a war begun over Helen. Homer
describes Helen s beauty to that of a goddess. He writes, Helen came out of her scented chamber,
a moving grace like Artemis, straight as a shaft of gold (The Odyssey, Book IV). This shows
how elegant Helen was due to the many rich and beautiful comparisons. Homer further goes on
the describe the scene using more and more extravagant comparisons. The words that Homer
uses to describe Helen and the characterization of her really gives the reader a full understanding
of her influence on a man s desires. All men desired her. She was essentially the Aphrodite of the
real world, and Homer carefully worded his writings to depict that. Furthermore, the fact that
men were willing to risk their lives in battle over her significantly shows how influential Helen s
beauty is to the ancient Greeks. The mood of the Odyssey and the Iliad also helps to understand
the desires of the ancient Greeks. The moods of both stories shift greatly from book to book, but
the overall mood is excitement and action. Ultimately, at the end of the action the winner will
get their desires, which in this case is Helen, since she is the desire of the Spartans and Trojans.
The Iliad is mainly about strength and how that can lead to one s desires. The Odyssey is about
wit and how intelligence can also lead one to his/her desires. Helen is essentially set up as the
prize or each competitors desire, and the excitement and action is the mood that leads up to this.
Homer s depiction of Helen is very conventional. She is the most

Operant Conditioning And Its Effect On Behavior
Operant conditioning refers to the method of learning to occur through rewards and punishment for
behavior (Staddon Cerutti 2002). In the operant condition, an association occurs between the
behavior and the consequences of the behavior. Behaviorist B.F Skinner coined operant
conditioning, and that is why some refer to it as Skinnerian conditioning. Skinner started studying
operant conditioningin the late 1920s when he was a graduate student at Harvard University. As a
behaviorist B.F Skinner believes that it was obligatory to look at the internal thoughts and
motivation so as to explain behavior (Staddon Cerutti 2002). As an alternative, he did suggest that
we should look only at the external and observable causes of human behavior. The characteristics of
operant conditioning are that an organism may emit a particular response instead of just eliciting
the response because of the external stimulus. Skinner did use the term operant in referring to any
active behavior that operates on the environment so as to generate consequences (Doyle Portillo
Pastorino 2013).
Skinner s theory explains how we acquire different learned behavior we exhibit daily. The work
of psychologists Edward Thorndike greatly influences Skinner s theory. Thorndike proposed what
he called the law of effect. According to the principle, actions followed by desirable outcomes are
likely to be repeated while those followed by undesirable outcomes are not likely to be repeated.

1.2 Solid waste
If noise is not a big problem, how about solid waste? We know that tourists tend to consume in their
journey. Will the waste they create be a problem to the Tung Chung community? 33
To be a well designed tourist spot, of course you have to take care of every basic need of the
tourists. It includes the provision of food and beverage. However, the catering sector is one of the
largest origins of waste. It produces considerable amount of food waste, disposable tableware and
packaging everyday. I observed that there are a lot of restaurants in Citygate and the Ngong Ping
village. I believe the amount of waste they produce everyday should be considerable too. We can
see that it is one of the ways how tourism boosts consumption. and finally leads to the problem of
solid waste. However, after my observation, I do not think this particular problem causes huge
impacts to the local community. The government and the developer of the attractions have done a
great job on waste management. They collect and transfer the waste in an efficient way, which
makes me unable to obtain proof of the solid waste problem. The hygienic condition of the streets
and public areas was satisfactory too. I only saw rubbish on the bench in the bus terminus. 182

kind of Christians they were as I was unaware of the existence of the different sects of
Christianity. I am sure they did not know either as we were too young. I am familiar with
Christianity and Sikhism as I grew up around people who followed these religions. The city that I
grew up in had and still has a large Muslimpopulation; however, I never got a chance to learn
anything about Islam. This was partly due to the high tensions between Muslims and Hindus. I
recall an incident that occurred in India during my childhood years. I must have been 7 or 8,
when riots broke out between Muslims and Hindus after the burning of Godhra Train in the state
of Gujarat. I remember hiding in a tiny room that we had on the rooftop, where most of the
women and children from my neighborhood came to hide while the men were preparing to fight
the Muslim rioters. Thank God nothing happened that night and the information received was
incorrect. Although, my views on Islam has changed as I grew older and learned more about
Islam; initially, this incident left me with a negative impression about Islam. As I grew older, I
realized that I was at fault for generalizing, not all Muslims are bad and this incident certainly does
not make Islam a violent religion. Therefore, when I was provided with the opportunity to do
immersion on other religions than my own, I chose Islam to gain deeper understanding and

March For Life In The Media
Media Coverage of The March for Life
Hey, Obama your mama chose life is one of the many chants said during March for Life and even
fewer people chanted it during the march last year due to winter storm Jonas moving across the
Washington D.C. area. The March for Life is an annual peaceful protest on January 22nd, the
anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Adult and youth marchers begin their march at the Washington
Monument and ends at the marchers Representative or Senator s office where they advocate for
life (Bryan). The media covered March for life last year well because of the winter storm Jonas.
There is many ways I would explain the media coverage during the march for life last year during
winter storm Jonas; credibility, unbiased, and compare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was well informed, unbiased, and had both local and statewide participants coverage. Media
coverage on the March for Life last year was drastically better then years passed. Winter storm
Jonas was a big help with getting the March for Life in the media. The media changes the way
the viewers and readers see the March for life. Abortion is a very controversial topic and people
usually don t want to talk about or report about but last year was a unique situation with the storm
Jonas. Overall there was a great output with the media s coverage of the March for

Analysis Of The Book Huckleberry Finn
Representation of Jim in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
In the opening of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jim, an escaped slave previously owned by
Miss Watson, is a simple, kind, and generous man who is also almost superstitious to a fault.
However, Jim develops as a character throughout the novel in a humble passage from slave to free
man and Tom Sawyer s savior. This character transformation manifests itself throughout Jim and
Huck s time together in a search for freedom and a path back to Jim s family that he left behind.
While on the journey, Jim must run at night, hide during the day, and endure the loneliness of his
situation constantly while taking care of Huck; this determination and personal strength despite
oppression by white people make Jim one of the only respectable adults in the novel. Through
courageous and selfless acts, the initially simple Jim demonstrates loyalty, love, strength, and
wisdom to establish himself as a heroic figure in the novel. Jim seems to have a superstition for
any occasion one could think of, but Jim is a product of his time and his beliefs provide answers to
phenomenon that people could not explain. As a first impression at Miss Watson s house, Jim s
superstitious ways come across as idiocy as he thinks that, witches bewitched him and put him in a
trance, and rode him all over the State, and then set him under the trees again ; However, the
superstitions ultimately gain depth and background starting with Jim and Huck s time

Explain Why The Period Of Home Rule Is Significant In The...
1.Explain why the period of Home Rule is significant in the context of both colonial identity and
self governance:
Home rule is defined as the government of a colony, dependent country, or region by its own
citizens. This definition explains that the colonists felt like they were left to rule their own
government while trying to separate from British ruling. Home Rule was significant in colonial
identity because the colonists were able to develop their own identity away from the British which
made them a stronger force to be reckoned with. The colonists used their newfound identity when
they finally declared independence from the British to establish the basis of the United States of
America.
While the colonists were establishing their own identities, they were also gaining useful experience
in self governance, which proved to be useful with their declaration of independence from the
British. The colonists learned how to handle local issues through self governance and were able to
successfully remove themselves from Parliament and run their own democracy. I believe with their
experience in self governance, the colonists learned what worked best for their needs and what didn
t help them at all, eventually putting that knowledge into effect in their ... Show more content on

Constitution established the three branches of government; the legislative, executive, and judicial
branches. The branches were made to create a system of checks and balances to ensure one branch
does not become too powerful and all governing is divided between the federal government and the
states. The first ten amendments, also known as the Bill of Rights, established the rights of the
people that cannot be taken away. Each amendment is broad enough to allow room for
interpretation, but narrow enough to address the concerns of the colonists. The Constitution is a
written set of rules for the government while the Declaration of Independence does not contain any

Poland s History, Culture, And Social Life

Poland I chose Poland to research because my heritage is mostly tied to Poland. My father and
his side of the family are all from Poland, tracing back the family tree as far as my great
grandfather before nothing more can be found on the Trala name. The only trail we have come
close to are the names found on headstones in Polish graveyards. Because my dad s side of the
family is very Polish there is never a dull moment. At gatherings and weddings we dance some
polka and enjoy one an others company. This paper s focus will be on Poland s history, culture, and
social life through the use of dance. Poland has been through constant turmoil with dictators and

Under the control of Hitler from 1918 1939 Poland was under serious attack. Concentration camps
were being constructed and Poles were possible targets because, at the time, Poland was home to
the worlds largest Jewish population (Polish Diaspora). In 1939 Poland was invaded by
Germany and was put under the Soviet Union s control. One cultural aspect Poles like to
exercises is their right to freedom and to be different, but under the rule of the USSR it was very
hard to express ones individuality and religion. Communism called for unionism and the Poles
disliked this way of life. This lack of personal freedom handicapped the Polish culture, not
allowing it to grow because many Poles were not known as wealthy. Because Poland was lacking
in artistic culture Paris became their center for literacy and artistic expression (Barnett, 374).
Many feared for their lives around this time and fled to America in the 20 s, allowing for the
spread of Polish values over seas. This is the main cause of the Polish diaspora because many of
the Poles immigrating to America were Jewish (Polish Diaspora). During the communist reign a
particular group, not like the Jewish Polish community, of people called the Lemko s had ritual and
folk dances that could not be performed because they feared the government would catch them and
punish them like they were to the Jewish Poles(Black, 47). It was very important to this group of
Polish people to continue there dances

The Seated Queen And The Wish Granting Dragon
Cassiopeia: The Seated Queen and the Wish granting Dragon
The famed Alexandrian astronomer, Ptolemy, catalogued Cassiopeia among his original 48
constellations recorded in The Almagest, and it still shines brightly to this day. Visible year round,
Cassiopeia is easily identified by its W shape. This distinction, also known as an asterism, made
Cassiopeia one of the first constellations I could identify in the night sky. Each time I spot those
five stars I am hit with a wave of nostalgia and this has caused Cassiopeia to be among my
favorite constellations. While predominantly appearing in the Northern sky, Cassiopeia may also
be viewed from parts of the Southern hemisphere. The stars span an area of 598 square degrees,
making Cassiopeia the 25th largest of the 88 recognized constellations. Included in the formation
are open clusters Messier 52 and Messier 103; the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A; a star forming
cloud known as the Pacman Nebula; and The White Rose Cluster. German British astronomer
Caroline Hershel discovered the cluster in 1783. Approximately 300 stars form this cluster, which
appears as a delicate rose gently unfolding in the sky. Cassiopeia belongs to the Perseus family that
also includes the constellations Andromeda, Auriga, Cepheus, Cetus, Lacuta, Pegasus, Perseus, and
Triangulum.
Cassiopeia is also called The Seated Queen. The origins of the title lie in the Greek Muggle myth
of Cassiopeia, Queen of Ethiopia. As the story tells, the vain

Typically, these films directly depict gay lovewhich is studios dislike to handle. Love Is Strange
shows audiences the love between two old men could be so simple, just like love between a man
and a woman. Likewise, Ben and George look like two kids, and nothing is more important for
them than being able to living together. The film is focus on normal life of two old men. Few of
studio films want to talk about life trivia, which studio are not interested in. But we can see it is
some trivial and real matters that affect audiences and their emotion. It is interesting too. Foe
instance, Ben interrupts Kate when she is writing, and Kate asks Ben why he don t start a new
painting; Ben answers, It s the hardest thing, Kate, to be honest with you. I brought all my stuff
here, but...Well...it s just that I can t really work if there s someone else around. I can t concentrate,
you know? Does Ben realize that Kate cannot concentrate because he is around?

is prone to melancholy and sensitivity. But sometimes, he can be so excited. In contrast, George

Reflective Essay On Professionalism
Professionalism can be defined as the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a
profession or a professional person. (Merriam webster) My interpretation of this definition is that
professionalism is a standard that we must hold ourselves accountable to in order to provide the
best service. How do we get from a basic understandingof this definition, to practicing and applying
professionalism? Major attributes that lead to professionalism can include accountability,
communication and reflective practice. Reflective practice in the healthcare system is when
practitioners engage in a continuous cycle of self observation and self evaluation in order to
understand their own actions and the reactions they prompt in themselves (becoming a better
university teacher...). In the day to day life, everyone performs a type of reflection whether it is by
unconscious thought or by habit. When it is unintentional it is hard to learn and grow from the
knowledgethat can potentially be gained. Therefore we need to find a way to effectively
incorporate reflective practice into our daily lives, especially as radiation therapystudents.
There is a simple three step framework for practical, structured reflection by Dr. Natius Oelofsen
that really stood out to me. Reflective practice should not be complicated or time consuming or
else it will not be done efficiently or effectively. We need reflective practice to become habit during
our school years in order for it to be

Shakespeare
In 1564, a man was born by the name of William Shakespeare. He was born to a poor family, was
given little education, and had no interaction with sophisticated society. Thirty eight plays and over
150 sonnets are not attributed to this ignorant man. Those who believe that Shakespeare was the
author have no definitive proof but instead point to Hamlet s declaration: amp;quot; The play s the
thing(Satchell 71). amp;quot; The true author, however, lies hidden behind he name of Shakespeare.
Edward de Vere the premier Earl of Oxfordis not only considered a great poet in history, but he may
also be the great playwright who concocted the sonnets and plays which are now attributed to
William Shakespeare of Stratford, England.

There are many allusions in Shakespeare s plays which de Vere would have been particularly
familiar with. As a child, de Vere was tutored by Arthur Golding, the translator of
Metamorphoses. This literary work was alluded to several times in Shakespearean plays. De Vere
also studied law and traveled across the continent, spending a great deal of time in Italy (Tweedale
12). Many references to Italian art and architecture are also alluded to in Shakespeare s plays.
William Shakespeare of Stratford, however, never left England (Friedman 10).
The author of the Shakespearean plays had to possess a rare knowledge in several disciplines
including physical sciences, medicine, he law, astronomy, and the Bible. Shakes of Stratford
received no formal education with the exception of grammar school through the equivalent of third
grade. De Vere, however, was taught by only the best tutors (Satchell 71). The Shakespearean
plays were also written by one who has had interaction with the aristocracy and understood the
workings of royalty from the inside out (Friedman 10). Although there is no evidence that
Shakespeare moved freely about this society, de Vere was regarded as a amp;quot;brilliant
ornament of Elizabeth s court amp;quot; (Sachmartino 13) and as such would have understood
what it as like to live in the aristocracy.
De Vere s very life is in many ways represented in the plays attributed to Shakespeare of Stratford.
For example, in the play Hamlet, de Vere describes

Social Networking and Narcissistic Behavior Essay
Social networking has risen in popularity throughout the last twenty years and in effect
narcissistic behavior has increased within society(particularly America s society) since the 1980
s(Jayson 1). Studies show that the greater an individual is inclined to narcissistic behavior; there
is a resulting increase in their online social networking activity(Mehdizadeh 357). Social
networking sites or SNSs are defined as: A web based services that allow individuals to (1)
construct a public or semi public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users

website and has a need to be social online; although not everyone wants to jump on this platform

increases, so too will the website s popularity and it s value in the marketplace resulting in
attracting a greater share of the population. Consequently utilizing a domino effect technique.
The people who populate the site will become popular at greater levels as they increase their

maybe someone in your current circle or association of current friends do. The whole concept of

  • 2. King Lear Vs Quarto Essay King Lear was first printed in 1608. This initial printing is now referred to as the First Quarto. Another Quarto version was printed in 1619, and King Lear appeared again in a 1623 Folio edition. The First Quarto contains 300 lines not found in the Folio, and the Folio contains 100 lines not found in the First Quarto. Because many differences exist between the Quarto and Folio editions, some recent anthologies of Shakespeare s works contain play text from both editions, and may also include a conflated edition derived from a combination of both the First Quarto and Folio versions. Although the text was not printed until 1608, the play was performed in December 1606. The exact date of composition is not known, so scholars often try to base the point in time on references in the play itself. Because of this uncertainty and the textual references, the composition of King Lear may have taken place anywhere from 1604 to 1606.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. The Philippines Of Martial Law In The Philippines Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial Law in the Philippines in 1972. The implementation allowed the military to have the highest authority in the country along with the President and allowed thousands of Filipino s rights to be abused. It ended after 21 years when Marcos finally was ousted out of office. Bangsa Moro refers to the 13 ethno linguistic Muslim tribes in the Philippines. They composed 1/4th of the population in Mindanao. Though each tribe differs in traditions, culture, and dialects, they all share the same religion of Islam. The Moro People are divided in three main groups which are the Maguindanaons, the Tausogs and the Maranaos. Each group and tribe commonly face the struggle for self determination. Starting from the Spanish colonization, as Christianization spread through the country, Islamic advancement completely stopped and prejudices against Muslims began in the Philippines. During the American colonization, they declared the entire country as independent while annexing Mindanao. These showcase that since the beginning of Philippine history, the Moro people have been oppressed by the different ruling bodies of the nation. The implementation of Martial Law in 1972 worsened the situation when the military attacked Mindanao which sparked the war between the Muslim rebels and the government. Now many Moro people are bombed out of their homes due to the current proclamation of Martial Law in Mindanao. In the early 70s, several massacres ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Summary Of War Of The Rats War of the Rats The Battle of Stalingrad, perhaps the single most critical and certainly one of the bloodiest battles of World War II, is a great setting for a historical fiction story. His story centers on a duel to the death between two men: Chief Master Sgt. Vasily Zaitsev, sniper, one of the best of the Russian army, and a German SS colonel named Heinz Thorvald, the Nazis greatest marksman. When Russian snipers led by Zaitsev begin to take a demoralizing toll of German troops, picking them off like hunters shooting bears, the high command in Berlin dispatches Thorvald to the battlefield with orders to accomplish a single task: kill Zaitsev. A deadly contest ensues, with Robbins skillfully building up each of his protagonists as so deadly in their murderous crafts as to make them feared as a person and well liked as a reader. It is not David versus Goliath, but Hercules versus Zeus, the manly conflict of two equally matched and equally remorseless adversaries. The story moreover is based, Robbins writes in the introduction, on two real historical figures, though it is unclear whether the real Zaitsev and Thorvald engaged in the kind of duel described in War of the Rats. Robbins opens with a German lieutenant named Hofstetter who makes the mistake of tilting his head back to drink from a canteen and is dropped by a single shot from a distant rifle. We, then, meet his killer, the Russian Zaitsev, who, before World War II, was a hunter on the Siberian taiga, instructed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Sexual Assault And Assault Response And Prevention Program History Sexual assault has plagued the military since its inception. The chain of command (COC) is responsible for maintaining the good order and conduct of our service members (SMs). Unfortunately, the U.S. military has not been able to effectively combat the occurrences of sexual assault. Billions of taxpayer dollars have been thrown at the problem, programs have been implemented and task forces have been mobilized. To combat this epidemic, the Sexual Harassment /Assault Response and Prevention program (SHARP) is the U.S. militarys main effort. SHARP is designed to promote advocacy and provide support for victims of sexual assault, in order to decrease or eliminate the instances of sexual assault among SMs. However, the problem of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Removing the authority from the victim s COC is believed to reduce bias and the fear of retaliation by commanding officers (COs). Within 180 days of the enactment of the bill, administrative hierarchies will convene to create policies and procedures to adhere to the mandates of S.1752. Within the deadline, policies and procedures will be disseminated to the lowest level in memorandum format (Military Justice Improvement Act, 2013). Victims of sexual assault are intended to be empowered to safely and confidentially report a crime to their COC and be assured that justice will be served without reprisal. S.1752 is designed to protect SMs who are victims of sexual assault from a corrupt or neglectful COC by removing their authority in the matter. Policy Analysis A systematic analysis of S.1752 is essential to forecasting potential intended and untended consequences of the bill. Context will also be considered to ensure a balanced and unbiased bill analysis. If the bill is enacted, it will become law until amended or repealed. The extent to which this bill will accomplish it s purpose of removing the authority of sexual assault cases from COs in the victim s COC is currently unknown. If enacted, S.1752 will be enforced by prosecutors under the authority of the UCMJ. The economic feasibility is difficult to quantify because much of the data is based on ... • 8. Relationship Between Teacher Training And Student... 2. LITERATURE REVIEW 2.1Theoretical review Meta analytic reviews reveal contradictory results with regard to the relationship between teacher training and student achievement. Hanushek (1989, 1997; Fehrler et al., 2009) concluded that there is no strong evidence to suggest that teacher training and teacher education has a positive effect on student achievement. On the other hand, Greenwald et.al (1996) and Kane (2013) find a strong relationship between teacher education and student achievement. Using a narrative synthesis of individual studies, Wayne and Youngs (2003) argue that students test scores in English, History and Science do not provide sufficient empirical evidence for drawing conclusions regarding the nature of the relationship between teachers education and training and students achievement. 2.1.1Aspects of teacher training and education that affect teacher quality The government plays a major role in determining the qualification of teachers. Governments influences teacher quality by setting teacher qualification at a high level to so as to ensure satisfactory teacher quality while taking into account the supply of qualified individuals. Minimum qualification requirements for teachers tend to change over time. Teachers employed in the past may not meet the set qualifications for new teachers, (UNESCO, 2012, 2014). • 11. Economic Sanctions Advantages And Disadvantages Economic Sanctions are a way of punishing errant countries which is more acceptable than bombing or invading them. It s a way to sway the target government to change a policy. Some Sanctions include limiting export or import trade and preventing transfers of money involving citizens or the government of the target. Sanctions can be multilateral with many countries acting together or unilateral when one country takes action on its own. Between 1914 and 1990 there were 116 sanctions that were imposed on countries and в…” of these failed to achieve their stated goals. The cost of the country imposing the sanctions can be very large, particularly when the country is acting unilaterally. It is estimated that in 1995 imposing sanctions on other countries cost the American economy over 15 billion dollars in lost exports and 200 thousand in lost jobs in export industries. (Evidence on the Costs and Benefits of Economic Sanctions) Trade Sanctions are a lot more effective with more sanctioners but is harder to keep everyone together. Think about this in terms of basic economics 101. This says that when demand falls, then prices fall as well. One example is Iranian oil. The West is trying to change Iranian nuclear behavior by imposing sanctions on this country and restricting the oil trade from Iran. If there s a bunch of countries no longer buying Iranian oil then the price of Iranian oil will go down. Since no one is buying their oil then the demand is going down and less people will ... There are as many neurons in the brain as there are stars in the Milky Way galaxy. , a quote from an issue of a Discover magazine article. But what comes from this complexion? The answer is thought. Consciousness has been quarreled between writers, scientists, priests, atheists and everyone in between. The priest says it is divine and cannot be explained, the atheist says no it s evolution. The writer romanticizes it, creating characters that contain the free will of the author but have more unrealistic complexion than any real humancharacter. Scientists explain that we are in a state of awareness and that consciousness cannot be entirely explained as it is subjective and objectively, it cannot be measured. Human existence has transcended from being a simple organism living with survival instincts: hunting and gathering food for our kin, to working boring jobs to feed the family and to have just enough leisurely time to assure yourself not to jump off the nearest building to end it all. The question is can an organism become complex enough to consciously choose what they believe is morally right with free will. Do we live for others or ourselves? Does consciousness actually exist and how do we prove it? For many, memory is the proof of consciousness, as well as being proof of life. History, being observed as it s definition, is ultimate proof that humans can think, are thinking, and will think, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oscar-Claude Monet Claude Manet Impressionism 19th Oscar Claude Monet was a founder of French Impressionist painting, and the most consistent and productive expert of the movement s philosophy of communicating one s observations before nature particularly applied to plein air landscape painting. The expression Impressionism is from the title of his piece Impression, soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise), which was shown in 1874 in the first of the independent presentations mounted by Monet and his partners as an alternate choice to the Salon de Paris. Monet painted the subject twice, and it is unknown which of the two pictures was the artwork that showed up in the pivotal 1874 presentation, however more as of late, the Moscow picture has been favoured. Monet has been portrayed as the main thrust behind Impressionism . Essential to the art of the Impressionist painters was the comprehension of the effects of light on the local colour of objects, and the impacts of the contrast of hues with each other. Monet s long profession as a painter was spent in the quest for this aim. In 1856, his shot meeting with Eugene Boudin, a painter of little beaches, opened his eyes to the idea of plein air painting. From that time, with a short intrusion for military administration, he committed himself to hunting down better than ever strategies for painterly expression. In 1877 a progression of works of art at St Lazare Station had Monet taking a gander at smoke and steam and the way that they influenced shading and perceivability, being here and there misty and some of the time translucent. He was to further utilize this in study in the painting of the effects of mist and rain on the landscape. The investigation of the impacts of climate was to develop into various arrangements of works of art in which Monet often painted a similar subject in various lights, at various hours of the day, and through the ... Parker displays the possessive theme of jealousy throughout the entirety of the film while also demonstrating how it may also lead to acts of revenge; being another vital theme in Othello . The tragedy Othello focuses on the catastrophe of Othello and many other characters in the film as a result of jealousy. I was fortunate enough to sit down with the well renowned director, Oliver Parker, to discuss his film adaptations of William Shakespeare s tragic play, Othello as well as the dangers of Jealousy in his film on certain characters. Mr. Parker, your film has been critiqued for focusing so heavily on jealousy. How did you manage to portray the idea of jealousy as a theme in your film? I have represented jealousy in the film, as one of the most corrupting and destructive theme. It is jealousy that encourages Iago to scheme Othello s downfall. Through the juxtaposition of Othello s naive nature and Iago s spiteful villainy, the image of jealousy is truly personified as an all consuming green eyed monster . Other characters such as, Roderigo and Bianca demonstrate jealousy at various times in the film, and Emilia demonstrates that she too knows the emotion well. Only Desdemona and Cassio, the true innocents of the story, seem beyond its clutches. Since it is an emotion that everyone shares, we watch its destructive influence on the characters with sympathy and horror. The final scenes are significant and essential in conveying jealousy as they show the consequences and horrific outcome it has had on many characters. A number of characters are killed because of jealousy consequently making it one of the most destructive themes in the film. The theme of jealousy is clearly prominent throughout the film as it influences the characters actions. The major characters of Iago and Othello clearly possess this jealousy and express how it affects them. From the kidneys, erythropoietin (EPO) enters the blood stream and enters the bone marrow where it stimulates an increase in the production of red bloodcells (1, 2). This mechanism functions as a negative feedback loop since the signaling of an increase in the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood due to an increased number of red blood cells inhibits further production of EPO. The release of EPO is very sensitive to the level of oxygen carrying capacity in the blood. The simple occurrence of red blood cells death will trigger its release to ensure normal levels are maintained (1).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An important aspect to producing synthesized EPO is the use of mammalian cells. EPO contains 40% carbohydrates which are important to the stability and biosynthesis of recombinant EPO (5). In 1984, EPO was able to be cloned and synthesized for use by using recombinant DNA technology (1, 3, 4, 5). The biological properties of synthesized EPO are very similar to the original hormone found naturally in the body (3). The importance of the mammalian cell carbohydrate composition allowed for the carbohydrate portions of recombinant EPO to be almost identical to the carbohydrate portions of native EPO (3). Success in creating synthetic EPO on a large scale that mimics native EPO in humans allowed for the implementation of synthesized EPO for medicinal purposes. Synthesized erythropoietin became the first hematopoietic growth factor to be used in clinical settings (1). The discovery of synthesized EPO has provided patients with renal failure and severe anemia the ability to reverse the effects of these disorders and improve the oxygen carrying capacity of their circulatory system (1, 5). Despite these main similarities, in various stories Helenis depicted totally differently. The way in which Helen is portrayed is different from epoch to epoch, and from culture to culture. The three main epochs that contain stories of Helen are the ancient Greek era, the medieval Christian era, and the contemporary era. Every man desired her, yet she was stuck with an ugly King Menelaus, the ruler of the Spartans. Helen, however, did know her sheer beauty and because of this she was very frivolous, and that led to her being unfaithful to Menelaus, and she ran off with Paris, son of Priam, the ruler of Troy. Troy was a rival city state of the Spartans, and thus a war begun over Helen. Homer describes Helen s beauty to that of a goddess. He writes, Helen came out of her scented chamber, a moving grace like Artemis, straight as a shaft of gold (The Odyssey, Book IV). This shows how elegant Helen was due to the many rich and beautiful comparisons. Homer further goes on the describe the scene using more and more extravagant comparisons. The words that Homer uses to describe Helen and the characterization of her really gives the reader a full understanding of her influence on a man s desires. All men desired her. She was essentially the Aphrodite of the real world, and Homer carefully worded his writings to depict that. Furthermore, the fact that men were willing to risk their lives in battle over her significantly shows how influential Helen s beauty is to the ancient Greeks. The mood of the Odyssey and the Iliad also helps to understand the desires of the ancient Greeks. The moods of both stories shift greatly from book to book, but the overall mood is excitement and action. Ultimately, at the end of the action the winner will get their desires, which in this case is Helen, since she is the desire of the Spartans and Trojans. The Iliad is mainly about strength and how that can lead to one s desires. The Odyssey is about wit and how intelligence can also lead one to his/her desires. In the operant condition, an association occurs between the behavior and the consequences of the behavior. Behaviorist B.F Skinner coined operant conditioning, and that is why some refer to it as Skinnerian conditioning. Skinner started studying operant conditioningin the late 1920s when he was a graduate student at Harvard University. As a behaviorist B.F Skinner believes that it was obligatory to look at the internal thoughts and motivation so as to explain behavior (Staddon Cerutti 2002). As an alternative, he did suggest that we should look only at the external and observable causes of human behavior. The characteristics of operant conditioning are that an organism may emit a particular response instead of just eliciting the response because of the external stimulus. Skinner did use the term operant in referring to any active behavior that operates on the environment so as to generate consequences (Doyle Portillo Pastorino 2013). Skinner s theory explains how we acquire different learned behavior we exhibit daily. The work of psychologists Edward Thorndike greatly influences Skinner s theory. As I looked down I noticed that when we were in shallow parts we could see marine animals, but when we were at deeper parts of the water we could only see water. We drove right on top of the Bermuda triangle. How can we now go on the Bermuda Triangle? I thought. The Bermuda triangle was said to have sucked people into it and then the people were never seen again. There are many myths about the Bermuda Triangle but, no one is sure if any are true. The instructor stated happily, We are now going to the snorkeling sight! A loud cheer erupted. It was about a 10 minute drive to the snorkeling place. When we got there it was a big space there were rocks on one side that was the island. Which meant we were close to the island. The most important part the instructor had cautioned us was, Always have your noodle with you. If you didn t have your noodle with you it wasn t safe. We were learning on how to be safe in the water. When can we finally start? Robert groaned sitting next to me listening to the instructions. After a few minutes of gibbering and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His argument was vague and unrelated to the issue of labeling explicit music. His testimony was off topic at times, and only helped ruin his argument along with his constant attacks against the PMRC. It s actually hard to pinpoint what Mr. Zappa did well because for every positive argument, he made a negative attack that lessened his credibility.Repeatedly, Frank Zappadestroys his argument over and over until the very end of his testimony. Mr. Zappa seemed to have no filter on his words and spoke on everything he thought was wrong with the PMRC and its founders. Zappa said, ladies, please be advised the $8.98 purchase price does not entitle you to a kiss on the foot from the composer or performer in exchange for a spin on the family Victrola. Ladies, how dare you? (Zappa, 1985, 4:59). This is an example of a generality and an appeal to fear. The generality is when he says the PMRC with its rules is trying to house break all performers and composers(all is an overly vague term) and the appeal to fear is when he tries to scare artists into seeing how horrible the PMRC is with its sinister rules. However, this statement and others in his testimony only made the senate see Frank Zappa as nothing more than irrelevant with his disrespectful language. Throughout his entire testimony, Frank Zappa constantly went off topic along with verbally attacking and being disrespectful towards the PMRC and congress. Right after the opening of the Hong Kong International Airport in 1998, it was developed as part of the Airport Core Programme. The government decided to make Tung Chung the first new town on an outlying island. First, the government began with the infrastructure there, housing is also built to attract more people move in. In 1998, the Tung Chung line of MTR was opened. It provided a much easier access of the region and thus rose the willingness of people to visit. It includes the provision of food and beverage. However, the catering sector is one of the largest origins of waste. It produces considerable amount of food waste, disposable tableware and packaging everyday. I observed that there are a lot of restaurants in Citygate and the Ngong Ping village. I believe the amount of waste they produce everyday should be considerable too. We can see that it is one of the ways how tourism boosts consumption. and finally leads to the problem of solid waste. I never asked them what kind of Christians they were as I was unaware of the existence of the different sects of Christianity. I am sure they did not know either as we were too young. I am familiar with Christianity and Sikhism as I grew up around people who followed these religions. The city that I grew up in had and still has a large Muslimpopulation; however, I never got a chance to learn anything about Islam. This was partly due to the high tensions between Muslims and Hindus. I recall an incident that occurred in India during my childhood years. I must have been 7 or 8, when riots broke out between Muslims and Hindus after the burning of Godhra Train in the state of Gujarat. I remember hiding in a tiny room that we had on the rooftop, where most of the women and children from my neighborhood came to hide while the men were preparing to fight the Muslim rioters. Thank God nothing happened that night and the information received was incorrect. Although, my views on Islam has changed as I grew older and learned more about Islam; initially, this incident left me with a negative impression about Islam. As I grew older, I realized that I was at fault for generalizing, not all Muslims are bad and this incident certainly does not make Islam a violent religion. Therefore, when I was provided with the opportunity to do immersion on other religions than my own, I chose Islam to gain deeper understanding and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Analysis Of The Book Huckleberry Finn Representation of Jim in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn In the opening of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Jim, an escaped slave previously owned by Miss Watson, is a simple, kind, and generous man who is also almost superstitious to a fault. However, Jim develops as a character throughout the novel in a humble passage from slave to free man and Tom Sawyer s savior. This character transformation manifests itself throughout Jim and Huck s time together in a search for freedom and a path back to Jim s family that he left behind. While on the journey, Jim must run at night, hide during the day, and endure the loneliness of his situation constantly while taking care of Huck; this determination and personal strength despite oppression by white people make Jim one of the only respectable adults in the novel. Through courageous and selfless acts, the initially simple Jim demonstrates loyalty, love, strength, and wisdom to establish himself as a heroic figure in the novel. Jim seems to have a superstition for any occasion one could think of, but Jim is a product of his time and his beliefs provide answers to phenomenon that people could not explain. As a first impression at Miss Watson s house, Jim s superstitious ways come across as idiocy as he thinks that, witches bewitched him and put him in a trance, and rode him all over the State, and then set him under the trees again ; However, the superstitions ultimately gain depth and background starting with Jim and Huck s time ... Explain Why The Period Of Home Rule Is Significant In The... 1.Explain why the period of Home Rule is significant in the context of both colonial identity and self governance: Home rule is defined as the government of a colony, dependent country, or region by its own citizens. This definition explains that the colonists felt like they were left to rule their own government while trying to separate from British ruling. Home Rule was significant in colonial identity because the colonists were able to develop their own identity away from the British which made them a stronger force to be reckoned with. The colonists used their newfound identity when they finally declared independence from the British to establish the basis of the United States of America. While the colonists were establishing their own identities, they were also gaining useful experience in self governance, which proved to be useful with their declaration of independence from the British. The colonists learned how to handle local issues through self governance and were able to successfully remove themselves from Parliament and run their own democracy. I believe with their experience in self governance, the colonists learned what worked best for their needs and what didn t help them at all, eventually putting that knowledge into effect in their ... Concentration camps were being constructed and Poles were possible targets because, at the time, Poland was home to the worlds largest Jewish population (Polish Diaspora). In 1939 Poland was invaded by Germany and was put under the Soviet Union s control. One cultural aspect Poles like to exercises is their right to freedom and to be different, but under the rule of the USSR it was very hard to express ones individuality and religion. Communism called for unionism and the Poles disliked this way of life. This lack of personal freedom handicapped the Polish culture, not allowing it to grow because many Poles were not known as wealthy. Because Poland was lacking in artistic culture Paris became their center for literacy and artistic expression (Barnett, 374). Many feared for their lives around this time and fled to America in the 20 s, allowing for the spread of Polish values over seas. This is the main cause of the Polish diaspora because many of the Poles immigrating to America were Jewish (Polish Diaspora). The Seated Queen And The Wish Granting Dragon Cassiopeia: The Seated Queen and the Wish granting Dragon The famed Alexandrian astronomer, Ptolemy, catalogued Cassiopeia among his original 48 constellations recorded in The Almagest, and it still shines brightly to this day. Visible year round, Cassiopeia is easily identified by its W shape. This distinction, also known as an asterism, made Cassiopeia one of the first constellations I could identify in the night sky. Each time I spot those five stars I am hit with a wave of nostalgia and this has caused Cassiopeia to be among my favorite constellations. While predominantly appearing in the Northern sky, Cassiopeia may also be viewed from parts of the Southern hemisphere. The stars span an area of 598 square degrees, making Cassiopeia the 25th largest of the 88 recognized constellations. Included in the formation are open clusters Messier 52 and Messier 103; the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A; a star forming cloud known as the Pacman Nebula; and The White Rose Cluster. German British astronomer Caroline Hershel discovered the cluster in 1783. Approximately 300 stars form this cluster, which appears as a delicate rose gently unfolding in the sky. Cassiopeia belongs to the Perseus family that also includes the constellations Andromeda, Auriga, Cepheus, Cetus, Lacuta, Pegasus, Perseus, and Triangulum. Cassiopeia is also called The Seated Queen. • 48. Reflective Essay On Professionalism Professionalism can be defined as the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person. (Merriam webster) My interpretation of this definition is that professionalism is a standard that we must hold ourselves accountable to in order to provide the best service. How do we get from a basic understandingof this definition, to practicing and applying professionalism? Major attributes that lead to professionalism can include accountability, communication and reflective practice. Reflective practice in the healthcare system is when practitioners engage in a continuous cycle of self observation and self evaluation in order to understand their own actions and the reactions they prompt in themselves (becoming a better university teacher...). In the day to day life, everyone performs a type of reflection whether it is by unconscious thought or by habit. When it is unintentional it is hard to learn and grow from the knowledgethat can potentially be gained. Therefore we need to find a way to effectively incorporate reflective practice into our daily lives, especially as radiation therapystudents. There is a simple three step framework for practical, structured reflection by Dr. Natius Oelofsen that really stood out to me.
