The Pros of Employment for Ex-Cons Essay
The Pros of Employment for Ex Cons
In the last thirty years the crime rate in the United States has decreased, but the number of people
incarcerated has increased because longer minimum sentences and stricter requirements for parole
have been established. Offenders serve longer prison sentences that lead to a variety of
employment related barriers to overcome after release (Bracey 253). In the State of Nebraska, ex
offenders find little help when searching for employment. On the Department of Correction s
website, the mission statement reads,
The mission of the Department of Correctional Services is to serve and protect the public by
providing control, humane care, and program opportunities for those individuals placed in its
custody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Employment, or lack there of, is said to be one of the top two factors in recidivism (Agan Mencl;
Pannkuk). Recidivism has become a nationwide problem, and many are looking for ways to reduce
its rate (Bracey 253).
Ex offenders have a hard time finding long standing, good paying employment because of the
barriers they face. One of those barriers is a lack of skills needed to gain employment (Holzer,
Raphael, and Stoll 4 5). Many offenders are both undereducated and unemployed when they enter
prison, and while in prison, often fail to gain adequate education or skills because there are no
resources offered to acquire these skills (Smith). Also, employers fear hiring ex offenders
because of their criminal past. John Rakis, who wrote, Improving the Employment Rates of Ex
Prisoners Under Parole, says many employers have a prejudice, against hiring an ex offender
(Rakis 8). Along with employers being wary of a criminal past, ex offenders also have large
gaps in their employment history, as a result of the time served in prison. These gaps cause ex
offenders to appear as undependable employees, and employers become hesitant of hiring the ex
offenders (Bracey 253). Richard Coley and Paul Barton, who jointly wrote, Locked up and Locked
out: An Educational Perspective on the U.S. Prison Population, say, Employers value experience
and continuity of work history (Coley and Barton 30). When an offender has spent a significant

Islam Is Based On Three Basic Fundamentals
Islam is based on three basic fundamentals which is essential for the directing the life of its
followers:
1. First principle is the Religious Beliefs which is also known as Usul al Din which means Roots of
Religion. This is the very fundamental core of the religion and gives it a basic tenet of life for the
followers.
2. Second principle is called as Religious Practice which is also known Furu al Din which means
Branches of Religion and this defines the peripheral aspects of the religious practices pertaining to
Islam.
3. Religious Ethics which are also known as Akhlaq and Adab which means Virtues and Manners

The major steps taken by the followers of the Muhammad along with him were the establishment
of The Qur an which consisted of the disclosures the Prophet acknowledged recurrently ever
since the time he started getting the signs from the God from 610 C.E. until his death in 632

of the archangel Gabriel, and therefore, it is observed that it is without any errors and should be

served as the basis for moral and religious policies and values for the public association.
Positive aspects
Islam is a religion where science has always formed an integral part of religion historically and
many leaders can be attributed to bring science to Islam. The status of Islam in current times has
been associated with backward and regressive society and many other religions believe that
Muslims are not compatible with science and technology. However, looking back at the

Persuasive Essay On Seat Belt Safety
On April 15th, 2017, a student rolled his car two and half times, the car was totaled. The student
walked away without a scratch on him due to the fact that he was wearing a seatbelt. That
student was me. The act of putting your seat belt into the buckle of your seat takes a mere two
seconds. Two seconds is obviously a small price to pay if the cost could potentially be your
entire life. When drivers and passengers are involved in car accidents, they are more likely to
survive if they are wearing a seatbelt. Seat belts save lives as well as they often prevent major
injuries. When involved in a serious car accident, seat belts have proven to be effective in saving
lives and preventing injury. When involved in a car accident, passengers in the car are subject to
concussion, ejection, paralyzation, or even death. Seat belts strap a passenger into their seat in the
car, this prevents ejection from the vehicle. 75% of people who are ejected from their vehicles die
from impact or related injuries (CDC). This incredibly high statistic proves the effectiveness of
seatbelts holding you into the car and preventing death by ejection. In addition to this, the US
Department of Transportation states that 88.5% of people used seat belts in 2016 (US
Department of Transportation). This number is up 7% from 81.2% in 2006, meaning drivers and
passengers alike are realizing the necessity of wearing a seatbelt. The increased use of seat belts is
likely due to scare tactics used by law

The Problem Of Abusive Relationships
I would first like to start off by saying that this has been a very difficult topic for me. That is why
I have waited until the last minute to post this week. It has only been a year since I have left my
fourteen year abusive marriage. I hide the abuse from all of my friends and family. When you
are in the situation you do not realize how bad it is until you are almost dead or in jail. An
abusive relationship is like a leaking faucet that starts with a slow drip and over time the slow
drip has become a flooded house because the pipe has finally broke. First comes the fight, then
comes the violent episode, then the honeymoon phase after the violent episode. The make up
sex was so intense. He would love to hit me then make me have sex with him. He would say it is
such a turn on. He would always say I cannot believe I did that. I am so sorry it will never happen
again. Sometimes months would go buy even years but it would always start back up. I will say
that the emotional abuse I suffered was far worse than the physical abuse. I would rather my ex hit
me than tell me that I was a pathetic, dumb bitch that didn t deserve to be alive. I am in therapy
and supports groups right now and they are helping me get a better understanding of why I
stayed and how to never be in a situation like that again. I am a work in progress and I am happy to
say I am alive and I am finding my happy again.

The Origin Of Syrian Heritage
The very origin of Syrian heritage is dominated by foreign empires Assyrians, British, Egyptians,
French, Hittites, Macedonian Greeks, Mongols, Persians, Romans, and Turks. The power of the
aforementioned foreign empires greatly influenced the development of Syria. Just in the last three
hundred and fifty years, the political rule in Syriahas shifted several different times from the
Ottomans to the Assyrians, from the Assyrians to the British and French, from the British and
French to the Baath Party, from the Baath Party to the United Arab Republic, and from the United
Arab Republic to the rule of Assad. The Syrian economy in the sixteenth century was mainly
supported by agriculture and military pursuits, while advances in the nineteenth century allowed for
an economic growth boosted by energy and mineral resources electrical generation, mining, nuclear
energy, and oil and natural gas and industry and manufacturing. During the last five centuries, Syria
has been occupied by Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, and others), Druze, Jews, Kurds, Shia
Muslims (Alawis, Ismailis, and others), Sunni Muslim Arabs, and Yazidis. Despite that, Syrian
society has still been overwhelmingly Muslim. While the development of economics and religion
have changed Syrian history immensely, the development of politics has been the driving force in
Syrian evolution. The economic advances throughout Syrian history are closely linked to the
political changes occurring within each different

The Importance of the Renaissance to the Reformation in...
The Importance of the Renaissance to the Reformation in Germany
The reformation was a movement that fundamentally challenged the authority of the Roman
Catholic Church. The role of the clergy was undermined and the relationships between national
countries and the Roman Catholic Church were threatened.
The renaissance began in Italy during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries through patronage and
the flourishing society, and Rome achieved cultural prominence. It later spread throughout Europe
and began a rediscovery of classical thoughts and influenced painters, such as Raphael and
Michelangelo, sculptors such as Donatello and writers, such as Johann Reuchlin, Ulrich Von Hutten
and Desiderius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was significant, as the church had seen itself as the sole interpreter of the bible; this made the
bible the main authority for religious belief and not the church. The circulation of literature also
meant that much of the laity had access to knowledge and so become literate and consequentially
the Catholic Church s monopoly over education and communicating was broken up.
Martin Luther, a scholar and Augustian Friar, had also been influenced by the renaissance and
humanism and had developed his own ideas about salvation, the treasury of merits and the issues
taught by the Roman Catholic Church. His ideas were based upon the scriptures, sola scriptura, as
these were the only things that were beyond fallibility, he believed that original texts should also
be studied. Luther also believed that it was by man s own faith that he could achieve eternal
salvation, sola fide, and that god alone decided a man s fate, therefore good deeds and the
purchasing of indulgences and merits were worthless.
In 1517, Johann Tetzel came to England, authorised by the Archbishop Albrecht to sell indulgences,
to raise money for he debts he owed to Rome. Selling of indulgences exacerbated Luther. He felt
that the Roman Catholic Church, who were supposedly trying to help people reach eternal
salvation; were not fulfilling its duty, as a truly repentant Christian had already gained remission

Analyzing An Event Poster
In this event poster, similarity is effectively used. One can see from the repeating faces and the
words The rise of women = the rise of the nation circling the faces in the center of the poster. It
also gives more closure than it would have without the bold, red text. The repetition of faces and
words in different colors in this visual composition makes it pleasing to the eye. The faces are very
similar to each other, but with subtle differences, such as the three mouths, eyelashes, and the beige
face has more hair than the other two. The three faces work well together because they are very
different from each other in colorand they have the same texture. The poster is divided
symmetrically with the color beige on the left side and navy blue on the right. The solid navy blue
face in the middle circular figure stops at the diagonal line, whereas the beige face starts on the left

Writing Assignment 3: Eyes in flies: An overview of the cinnabar gene and its relation to
Huntington s disease
Introduction
The common fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is often regarded as the model organism for genetic
testing due to many factors such as its short reproductive cycle, its similarities to humans, or the
ease of tracking mutations in Drosophila melanogaster. The Drosophila melanogaster is used to
model diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, and Huntington s Disease. By studying the changes in
how the proteins interact, the origin of such disease can be found providing a deeper understanding
of how to cure these fatal ailments.
Since Drosophila melanogaster is 70% similar to the human genome mutation in humans can easily
be replicated in the flies. Due to their short lifespan, the Drosophila melanogaster allow for the
progression of the mutations to occur rapidly and allow tracing of the mutation into subsequent
generations. Drosophila melanogaster generally has a phenotypic change associated with mutated
genes that control the coding of certain proteins.
A mutation in the cinnabar gene, which causes the ocelli to become colorless and the eyes to
become a bright red color, was originally discovered by Roy Clausen, a professor at the University
of California in 1918. The cinnabar gene is a protein coder gene which controls how the

How Did Djoser Build A Tomb Structure In Early Dynastic...
Many changes were made to funerary architecture as the years progressed. In Early Dynastic
period, the elite members of society would be buried under a tomb structure called a mastaba.
Inside the mastaba would be a sealed room for the ka statue of the departed. This room is called
the serdab. These funerary structures would often be arranged together into a necropolis and
would be faced towards the direction of the setting sun. One of the most impressive necropolises is

Deaths From Drunk Driving
When driving down the road two ambulance s fly by with sirens screaming, on down the road
the ambulance s stop along with three fire truck s on the side of the road surrounded by many
police officers, passing by there is a car flipped upside down with another car head on into a tree
and white drapes over top of bodies on the road, through the window there is a man there blowing
into a breathalyzer, the number comes up as .16% this man is drunk and also the the driver of the
car that s flipped. Drunk driving is the cause of this, being under the influence messes up the train
of thought of the brain and messes with eye vision and reaction time. People are going crazy
driving drunk around the world, nobody is good at drinking and driving and never will be.
Drunk Driving is a serious problem in the United States and even all around the world, this needs
to come to a stop because innocent people are losing their lives from idiots driving while under
the influence. Drinking and Driving is when someone decides to get behind the wheel of a car
after drinking too many alcoholic beverages and trying to drive home. This is a serious problem,
drinking causes the brain to lose train of thought and lower reaction time of a human which is well
needed while driving an automobile especially during the night when visibility is low. Each day

Greek Human Figure Essay
Greek art during the seventh to the second century, have evolved from the archaic period through
the Hellenistic period. These periods expand on previous era and lead to more detail and dramatic
artwork. Sculpture s of human figure s gained intensity with each era. During these periods, human
figure s particularly male figure s was considered as incredible art objects by the Greeks.
Additionally, they were more fascinated by male sculptures than female sculptures. They made
enormous beautiful sculptures in male form making them appear very tall and strong .For
example The Hero and Centaur from Olympia Greece, around 750 730 BCE, which now stand in
Metropolitan Museum of art in New York City. That statue represents a man and a centaur, part
man and part horse locked in a hand and hand battle. The artist makes the centaur as a man in font
and a horse in the back. Another example is the Mantikos Apollo sculpture, statuette of a youth
dedicated by Mantikos to Apollo, from Greece, around 700 680 BCE, which now in museum of

sculptures in human form. Most sculptures were made of two sorts of material. Stone, particularly

The novel, The Plague, written by Albert Camus, will be the focal point of the Multicultural essay.
Further delving into Albert Camus and his life, he was a French philosopher, author, and journalist.
At a young age, he lost his father due to an injury suffered during World War I, and was raised
under the domineering hand of his grandmother alongside his mother (Lottman 52). Camus did

The Roman Of Roman Empire Essay
The Roman scutum was a large body shield used in battles, sieges, and gladiator fights. The scutum
was used from the early Roman Republic until the third century CE and helped to define many of
the Roman battle tactics that made them so successful. The curved, semi cylindrical design
provided full body protection and was especially used in the testudo formation during sieges. The
Roman Scutum is a perfect example of the military genius of the Roman Legion.
The Roman Empire was created from the Roman Republic and became a huge part of Western
Europe. Considered the most advanced of its time, the powerful Roman Army dominated the
Western world for more than a thousand years due to its size and organization. Warfare was an
important way of life in both the Republic and the Empire. Rome greatly benefitted from the riches
brought back from conquered territories. The Romans believed themselves to be descendents of the
war god Mars and also believed in the superiority of their culture.
The power of the Roman military came from the professionalism of their heavy infantry. They
were highly adaptable, borrowing ideas from outsiders. They changed their tactics, formations, and
even their armor to fit the terrain or the enemy. They were also well disciplined. All troops swore
an oath of allegiance, known as the sacramentum, to the emperor himself. This loyalty and
discipline resulted in many victories on the battlefield. The Roman army used a system of rewards

Two Provisions From The Nursing Code Of Ethics For Nurses
1. One of the many roles of the nurse, in caring for their patient, is to advocate for the patient.
The nurses in the clip did not exhibit this professional role, the nurses were hesitant in following
the physician s orders, but none of the nurses spoke up on the patient s behalf. Nurses are often in
the best position to communicate with team members and the patient s family on behalf of the
patient, because in most cases, the nurse provides the most interpersonal contact with the patient.
In this situation, the doctor asked the husband if he could resuscitate his wife despite her having a
DNR. The nurse in the room could have interjected and said that the wife has already signed off
on a DNR, and the question of resuscitation is off the table. Also, the nurse could have explained
the patient s wishes to the husband and the doctor. In this case, the doctor was influenced by the
husband s wants, the husband had told the doctor that he wants his wife to live. 2. The two
provisions from the Nursing Code of Ethics that were violated are Provision 2 and 3. Provision 2
states the nurse s primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group,
community, or population (Brown, Lachman Swanson, 2015). Provision 2 focuses on the nurse s
obligation to assure the primacy of the patient s interests regardless of conflicts that arise between
clinicians or patient and family (Brown, Lachman Swanson, 2015). Provision 2 was violated
because the nurses

Analysis Of John Galt s The Eyes Of Dagny Taggart
In the eyes of Dagny Taggart, Vice President in charge of operations at Taggart Transcontinental
Railroad, John Galt is worthless. The simple thought of his name brings out a bitter taste in her
mouth. She thinks he is an empty shell of man who is below even the lowest of criminals. Taggart
may as well call John Galtan it because he is not worth being called a human being, at the time.
Nevertheless, John Galt is a man whether Taggart feels like he is a worthy one or not. Galt is
the definition of a mystery. Even citizens are not sure of the whereabouts of John Galt. He is
simply unidentifiable. It is as if he lurks in the shadows and not a soul can find him, but they
psychologically know he is there. The thought of his name only emerges an unanswerable and
often wondered question: who really is John Galt? Moreover, John Galt got his start from
Twentieth Century Motors as an engineer. He soon realized while working there that the exercise
of communist principles became a burden on the workers. Galt could see right through the business
s actions unlike any of the other workers. It was as if they were slaves that were bound to the
company.
Consequently, he decided to take initiative and put it to an end by declaring to stop the motor of
the world. It was as though the company were trying to embed evil practices into the worker s
monotonous workload. Galt s pure genius helped him devise a plan to stop these wretched

1.What is the function of the Conduction System? All cells must contract in a specific sequence.
This sequence is determined by the pathway known as the conduction system.
2.Cardiac cells are connective and autorhythmic. What does this mean? Connective cells, action
potentials, (excitatory signals) can propagate from one cell to another via gap junctions.
Autorhythmic cells can excite themselves spontaneously without stimulation of the nervous system
and contract at a regular rhythm.

Why are all the black kids sitting together in the cafeteria ; by Beverly Daniel Tatum Ph.D. is a
book of many subjects, theories, ideas, as well as opinions that are discussed, challenged and
criticized. Are we free from racism? Why, are all the black kids sitting together in the cafeteria?
These questions I hope to answer for myself and for others.
One of Beverly Tatum s major topics of discussion is racial identity. Racial identity is the meaning
each of us has constructed or is constructing about what it means to be a white person or a person
of color in a race conscious society. (Tatum, pp Xvii) She talks about how many parents... Show

She goes on about Affirmative action in the workplace and the views and opinions of all
different kinds of people. Tatum believes in Affirmative action because of the many encounters
and experiences she had witness and encountered. She goes on to say, Affirmative action is
needed to lessen bias in the paid labor force because affirmative action is the only legal remedy
in the United States for discrimination that does not require the victims (or someone with a
stake in their welfare) to notice their condition and come forward with a grievance on their own
behalf. ; (Tatum pp 123) In my opinion Affirmative action is a touchy subject, just like abortion.
There are places where it should belong and places it shouldn t. I think it should be implemented
in places of business where needed. For example if two candidates for a position are interviewed
for a job and one happens to be white and the other black, and the black candidate is obviously
more qualified for the job but doesn t get the job then that is a place where Affirmative action
needs to b added to the system. It is sad that something like Affirmative action even had to be
thought of but it is a reality that racism still exists and probably will continue to

French And Indian War Dbq Essay
The French and Indian war (1754 1763) commonly known as the seven year war. The war was
between New France and the colonies of British America. The reason for the war was for control
of North America and the fur trade. The Treaty of Paris was the treaty that marked the ending of
the French and Indian War. The treaty gave the British control over the area west of the thirteen
colonies to the Mississippi River. Which made France lose all its properties on North American
land. The French and Indian War changed the relationship between Britain and its American
colonies because the war empowered Britain to be more vigorous in colonial political and economic
matters by imposing regulations and collecting taxes unfairly on the colonies, which then caused
the colonists to change their ideology from acceptance to resentment toward Britain. The French
and Indian War changed the political relationship between Britain and its American Colonies
because after the war British colonies got land from the French. (Doc A) Since most of the land

were low on money from the expenses made from the war and thought a solution would be to

was passed in 1765. The stamp act was a tax that made the colonist pay a tax on all piece of

How To Raise The Space Shuttle
For years, scientists had been trying to create a reusable spacecraft that could carry supplies to
the space station and do other tasks that would be easier with a reusable spacecraft. The Space
Shuttle lifted off into space for the first time on April 12, 1981, and for the last time on July 8,
2011. It would glide to a landing on a runway facing horizontally and be launched with a rocket
attached to get it up into space.
Five Space Shuttles were built. They were called Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, Columbia, and
Endeavour. These shuttles were used to fly cargo and people to the ISS or International Space
Station. It was also used to launch the Hubble Space Telescope, which was well known for
discovering many things.

All seven crew members died. The accident investigation board figured out that, during the launch
of the shuttle, a piece of insulating foam had torn from the external tank and struck the orbiter s left
wing, weakening its thermal protection ability. When the orbiter later reentered the atmosphere, it
was unable to withstand the superheated air, which penetrated the wing and destroyed it, leading to
the vehicle s breakup. These two horrible accidents were part of the reason that NASA canceled the
Space Shuttle program.
On July 8, 2011, Space Shuttle Atlantis flew its last mission. The program was put to a stop
because of safety reasons and new technology that could be used instead of the old stuff. NASA still
launches some things but other companies such as SpaceX have been used instead to launch

The Space Shuttle has been used for many missions ranging from restocking the ISS to launching
the Hubble Space Telescope. It takes off using solid rocket boosters and lands on a runway. After
being decommissioned in 2011, the Space Shuttles can be found in several museums across the

Abstract The Vasa Capsizes Case Assignment , is a project management case. We ll find that if
the project leader used many of the project management tools used in today s projects the Vasa
probably would have made numerous voyages for the Swedish fleet. However, because of the
lack of a clear written procedure when deviations to the ship building process occurred, no risk

Most companies monitor these changes with a deviation or engineering change, with specific dates.
The control sheet and log is a project management tool that controls the changes made in the
project and tells the project leader and process owner of the modifications. The most notable
changes are the change in keel length, from a small ship to a large ship, the number of armament
type and quantity on the ship, which changed four times, and its resulting change from one deck to
two decks. The death of the shipbuilder had a huge impact as the new apprentice had no
information of the details surrounding the building of the Vasa. Shown below is an example of a

that go along with it. I think you need it. I teach Zack (her son) with phonics. I do not feel we do a
strong enough foundation in it. It needs to be focused on longer then what it is.
Analysis:
Phonics is understanding the relationship between letters and sounds. It is important for all
people to get a good grasp of it when they are young. Having this knowledge will create a strong
basis for learning the English language. Mrs. Baughman uses phonics as much as she can in her

Baughman is using word identification strategies in her classroom. Some strategies to help with
word identification are using context clues, word analysis (affixes and suffixes), and sounding
out words. Mrs. Baughman is doing very well on how she is handling words that are hard to
identify. In her science class she probably runs into many words that are very hard for her
students to say. These sight words would be considered Tier three words. This is Isabel Beck s
way of categorizing vocabulary words into three tiers: Tier one, Tier two, and Tier three. Tier
one words are the basic words that children should already know like door, paper, and ball. Tier
two words are high frequency words that are needed when using mature language. Some
examples include analysis, performed, and benevolent. Lastly, Tier three words are only found
in specific fields of study like prokaryote, isotope, and arachnids. You only find these words
when teaching a certain topic like Mrs. Baughman s science class. Telling a student to sound out
the word can help them to identify what it may be. An example of this happened to me while I
was in high school. I came across the word Mediocre and I could not figure out the pronunciation
of this word so I asked my teacher. Once she gave me the right pronunciation I understood the
meaning of it without asking. This is why word identification is so important. Once a student

The Judiciary And The Federal Budget
Poorly crafted statues almost always require future revision, sometimes in another moment of
crisis. This type of law making tends to increase the power of executive agencies as well as the
courts. Because the judiciary is forced to clarify legislation, to rule on its details and apply
legislation to uncertain situations, vague legislationends up allocating substantial power to the
judiciary. Imprecise and open ended statues often increase to power of executive agencies, too.
Such agencies are given broad mandates without much guidance or oversight.
Decades ago, the US Congress would assign specific priorities and focuses to federal agencies
when approving the yearly federal budget. This guidance is especially important because the
legislature exerts little other control over independent agencies, like the Federal Trade Commission
or the Federal Communications Commission. Now, because the federal budget is so often approved
during crisis conditions (and sometimes merely extends the previous year s budget into the next),
Congress offers little guidance to independent agencies. This enhances the power of independent
agencies while leaving them without guidance. Unger s preferred mode of organizing politics
would entail a substantial increase to the last minute compromises and revisions that cause such
confusion.
The courts, too, will be called upon to specify legislative details, meaning, and reach of legislation.

Art And The Holocaust
In just twelve years, a heinous vision executed nearly six million Jewish people at the hands of
Hitler and his followers, making the Holocaust debatably the most tragic and shameful event
recorded in Earth s history. During this time, different races, ethnicities, and religious groups were
persecuted and annihilated for their beliefs that conflicted with Hitler s persistence to eliminate the
flaws of humanity. Hitler and his followers had one goal in mind: to cultivate a master race for the
next generation. Under his guidance for Germany, countries were destroyed and millions were
killed. Pain, death and suffering for millions, put towards an effort that would forever haunt
survivors, and leave future generations struggling to grasp at understanding the past. As time has
gone by, the number of Holocaust survivors has been decreasing expeditiously and history seems
to be slipping away from one s fingertips; however, this specific strand of events and their survivor
s legacy is continuing to reside in the current era, especially through art and literature. Novels,
poetry, paintings, films, and other forms of art relating to the Holocaustquickly surfaced after the
occurrence and still continue today. Artists search for a catharsis from the atrocious genocide that
seems to surround them. With this newly spread genre of art, many critics rose up, like Adorno, a
German philosopher, to prove that these artistic representations were degrading to the survivors and

The Effect of Marriage on a Woman of the Victorian Period
Kate Chopin Author Kate Chopin is considered a feminine author because most of her stories
feature a plot about a turn of the twentieth century woman who is struggling against the
restrictions of the gender biases of her period. At this time in history women were socially
insignificant. They were not allowed to have any real power but instead were relegated to the
private sphere. A woman s only role in life at the time was as wife and mother. Any ambition
outside of these roles was considered abnormal and a proper woman of society would never
dream of trying to move beyond their assigned gender roles. This of course is not natural and
Chopin writes stories where socially repressed women illustrate their true need within for
independence and freedom beyond what society says is appropriate. The female character s
need for independence in Kate Chopin s writing is evident in two of her published short stories,
The Story of an Hour and The Storm. In The Story of an Hour a woman named Louise Mallard
learns that her husband has been killed in a horrific train accident. Her loved ones are
immediately concerned that this news will be too much for poor Louise to bear. Louise suffers
from a heart ailment, which in the Victorian period made her only more attractive as a society
wife because she was fragile and physically impaired and no woman should strive to be strong or
healthy. Unexpectedly, the news of her husband s demise is not upsetting to Louise but instead she

Stethoscope Disinfection Paper
Stethoscope is one of the most commonly used medical devices on a clinical setting, the
environment of which is often represented a potential vector for hospital acquired infections.
Scholars highlights that the sterilization of invasive equipments and the disinfection of any kind of
devices before the interventions are generally ignored (Kilic et al., 2011). Among those devices,
stethoscope is the widely used equipment with the most possibility of contamination of transmitted
organism. Researchers emphasize that the increasing proliferation of infection required diligent
hygieneof both hands and instruments between patients to reduce hospitalacquired infections
(Shaw and Cooper, 2014). Therefore, a survey is being conducted with a brief nurse directed

The Media and Comparative Politics
Today, in our society, a major form of educating the public is through media. Media is constantly
playing key roles for our political system along with informing the public with crucial
knowledge about other countries. It has helped changed the way the human population interacts
with each other as well as developing a more unified opinion among the subjects, which it
affects. Media is a form of communicating with one another that tries to provoke a certain
message. Usually it is opinionated in some way that persuades the audience to agree with what
they are watching. We consider media to be television, radio, magazines, newspapers, etc. All of
these forms have one sole purpose and that is to relay a message to its audience. Both positive
and negative results can come from this. Usually it manipulates information for ones own benefit.
In different governments, politicians as well as interest groups do this on a daily basis to
persuade others to support their beliefs. Then media is brought up again when discussing
comparative politics, playing a crucial role when comparing struggles among State borders.
Government has heightened power when using the different forms of media because the dramatic
influence the media plays to its viewers. Without the usage of media, we would be unable to
obtain important information as fast and we would be unaware of other events taking place in our
world. Media today, is what tries to build our world into one globally involved community. One of

A Humorous Ballad Of Albuquerque, Albuquerque And Laughed
Members of the audience quietly sobbed at their soul wrenching rendition of Albuquerque,
Albuquerque and laughed raucously as they played You have killed me, maiden fair, a humorous
ballad about an unfaithful lover whose lady friend discovers his infidelity. How much do you
think we ve earned today? asked Carolina who seemed to need it more than either of the others.
Esteban was counting it discreetly as they looked on in anticipation while sitting in one of the snug
holes of the main drinking room. Six reales and eight maravedГs. Just a little more than yesterday.
We must be getting better! That ll more than pay the week s lodgings, said Carolina, smiling

Surely he would not be asking Antonio if he wanted to rent a house or take out a loan. Good
evening, seГ±or. You re up late tonight. It s almost twelve. I should go to bed soon. I have to be
up and out early tomorrow with my colleagues. May I ask where you are heading? We are
travelling musicians and want to try our luck in Valladolid. There s more money there than there
used to be, now the king s court is there. And all those civil servants, dukes, consorts and other
hangers on. Does the name Diaspora mean anything to you, seГ±or? Antonio looked stunned.
He paused for a moment, looked around him and then spoke. I am known by that name, seГ±or.
Then we have a need for a short discussion. Who sent you here? Algebra. I am from the
corregidor s office here. Then we can continue. Excellent. Let s move over to that booth. We won

Customer Expectation And How Much They Differ From High...
eCommerce Strategy
Introduction In this assignments I will discuss internet customer expectation and how much they
differ from high street customers, the potential impact of ecommerce applications and planning and
managing an ecommerce strategy. I will also discuss the risk of linking business systems to the
internet.
Impact of e Commerce on business
Internet customers expect to have 24/7 service that is quick and easy with little to no contact
with human members of staff. Speed is key. Maintaining a quick and high performing website is
integral to ecommerce success, particularly during high demand times. Internet customers will
become frustrated quickly if access is slow or not attainable and so will give up and try another
rival business due to the ease of being able to visit multiple competitors within minutes. Surveys
have shown that customers get frustrated with e commerce sites due to pop up adds, difficulty
with finding specific items, service isn t as good as in the actual store and the service isn t
personalised. For ecommerce businesses, customer expectations have become very high. They want
cheaper products, in good condition with a quick delivery time and good customer service if they
were to come into contact with an employee.
When a business becomes a click business or adds on to an existing brick, then their target
customers increases and could become global, whereas with solely a brick business their customers
are restricted to those within the

Coraline Quotes
In the book Coraline Coraline goes through a plethora of stages starting from being a naГЇve child
to eventually evolving into a girl with a strong identity who is fully aware of who she is and
proud of who she has become. At the beginning of the book Coraline is your typical kid who is
filled with curiosity and an urge for exploration. This is best illustrated on page 26 when Coraline
first ventures into the alternate universe. Coralinewent through the door; she wondered what the
empty flat would be like if that was where the corridor lead (Gaiman 26). Although Coraline is
unaware of her surroundings (due to the fact that she just moved there) this does not stop Coraline
from being adventurous and exploring the unknown. This act of Coraline going into the corridor
while having no idea where the corridor leads and without even thinking about the possible
consequences of this action shows Coraline s overall lack of maturity and her naive childlike ways.
Before Coraline makes her ultimate transition from naГЇve and fearless child to a brave, confident,
and independent girl she further displays her childlike ways by always having a strong desire to
receive what she wants; and if she fails to get what she wants she expresses her displeasure. This is
clearly illustrated by two quotes in the book. In the first quote Coraline is upset that her motherwill
not purchase a pair of gloves she likes. Coraline saw some Day Glo green gloves she liked a lot.
Her mother refused to buy

Examples Of Madness In The Streetcar Named Desire
The streetcar Named Desire is a very complex and engaging book with 3 different themes, desire
and fate, death and madness. I chose to be Blanche DuBois in scene 8 and scene 10 as it sets the
theme, madness.Like the other major themes of the play desire and fate, and death madness too
was Tennessee Williams s obsession. His sister Rose s strange behaviour which had long been a
source of anxiety to her parents, later took the form of violent sexual fantasies and accusations
against her father. Not only did Tennessee Williamsfeel guilty for not having saved Rose from all
this, but he now feared for his own sanity because the mental illness that afflicted Rose might be
hereditary. He certainly did have a breakdown of sorts in his early twenties.... Show more content on

Her illusions, the very establishment of her life, are pulverised and this reflects the rot in her
energy, status, and mental limit. Toward the begin of the play, she is obviously indicated to be
somebody who is clutching the picture of an advanced and dainty character that originates from a
distinguished society however by Scene 10, she has ended up completely mindful that this is a
daydream which is the reason she hammers the mirror face down at the very begin of the scene as
she has understood that she is not able to trick herself any longer. At the point when Stanley shows
up, she is compelled to envision that she has gotten a telegram from Shep Huntleigh with a specific
end goal to escape the truth that she is being constrained out by Stanley and that Mitch generally
won t needs her. At the point when Stanley poses a question about the telegram, and Blanche
answers What telegram? , it gets to be very apparent to the group of onlookers that this was all
affectation; Stanley pulverises Blanche s fancies and makes her face reality. Also, Blanche s
craziness gets to be more obvious through the shocking reflections and peculiar shadow that
encompass her. Her assault symbolises her last annihilation to the values that Stanley s general
public speaks to and the termination of the ethics and estimations of the

Biological Anthropology
Biological Anthropology is the study of human biology within the framework of evolution. There
are four subfields of Biological Anthropology; genetics, human variation, paleoanthropology, and
primatology. Primatology is the study of non human primates and I find it the most interesting of
the four subfields. The study of Primatology focuses on the biological and psychological aspects of
non human primates. Also it looks at the similarities shared between humans and primates.
Primatologists focus on studying and conducting research on primates in three main ways; field
study, laboratory study, and through captivity. In captivity, they try to replicate natural primate
habitat in a controlled captive setting. This is one of the most... Show more content on

Some Intentional responses include direct eye contact, specific sounds and calls, and mounting.
Reproductive strategies are different for both males and females. Male strategies focus on
mating as often as possible while female strategies focus on maximizing resources for herself
and her offspring. Primates are K selected reproductive animals just like us. K selected animals
tend to have few offspring at a time but invest a lot into parental care. The mother infant bond is
a strong thing in K selected animals. Lastly cultural and cognitive behavior in primates are
behaviors that require planning and the idea of an end result. These are typically learned
behaviors such as stone tool use. Some primates in captivity have been able to show some types of
artistic expression too such as painting. A remarkable behavior that Apes have is their knowledge
of their self image. When a mirror is placed in front of them they can tell that they are looking at
themselves.
Primatology is very important for many reasons but I think most importantly because we can learn
a lot about ourselves from studying primates and their

Redemption In Mitch Albom s For One More Day
Redemption is a life makeover; it empowers one to take this rare opportunity to become
productive and constructive in order to prove his or her self worth. At times, it also serves as an
antidote to cure one s guilt. In Mitch Albom s For One More Day, Charley is granted that
opportunity, and he chooses to spend a day with his deceased mother, who he neglected when she
was still alive. He wants to express his gratitude to his mother for her kindness and unconditional
love. Furthermore, he intends to do something to absolve himself of guilt. Through examining the
conflicts and symbolism, Albom emphasizes that one must redeem oneself if given that chance.
Ultimately, one is able to live without regrets.
The conflicts of Charley suggest that he struggles to cope with his low self esteem; however, he
manages to retain his dignity through redemption. Redemption is the act to take advantage of a
lost opportunity. In the beginning of the story, Charley is facing a crisis in his life. He loses his
job, and his daughter shuns him due to his poor judgments that lead to his broken marriage. Out
of despair, he wants to end his life by driving his car recklessly. In the nick of time, he says to
himself, I had failed to kill myself. How pathetic is that? I headed toward my old house,
determined to finish the job (Albom 25) . Miraculously, he has gotten out of the crash unscaved.
His life is a mess and he can t even do anything. However, he redeems himself by walking all the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Qfd
2.3 Quality Function Deployment (QFD) Quality function deployment (QFD) is originally
developed by Dr. Yoji Akao in Japan in 1966. It had been implemented by Dr. S. Mizuno. QFD is
a method to transform requirements of customers to products design. The purpose of QFD is to
investigate the most important elements to develop product that closely meet the needs of
customers. According to Akao (1990), QFD is one of the technique to ensure the design quality
while the product is still in the design stage. There are several benefits for using QFD. One of the
benefits of QFD is customer driven. This help the companies to focus on the voice of the
customers. Besides, QFD allows the companies to analyze the competitors products and services in
the market place. Another benefit is lowering the cost and time for development. There will be
required minimum changes in the middle process of production. QFD also enables the companies

One of the disadvantages is inflexible for changing demand. The company who adapts the
customers need can be costly and complex because the customers need always change instantly and
unforeseen. The process of capturing and documenting the customers need into design products
require time and it is not easy to make changes when start the production process. In addition, QFD
has the risk of customer focused. The data collected may not reflect the customers true feelings.
Besides, inaccurate analysis may cause to obtain excessive information and difficult in decision
making. The QFD layout is shown in Figure 2.3.1. The steps in performing QFD are developing a
list of customer requirements and technical design elements, exhibit the relationships between
customer requirements and technical design, label the correlation between design elements,
perform a competitive assessment of the customer requirements, prioritize customer requirements
and technical requirements and final

The Crime Of Measuring Crime
Measuring crime remains a difficult challenge despite years of research and reportable crime data.
To say this problem has stumped policymakers and law enforcement professionals is an
understatement. Each year statistics and crime data are collected using numerous means for study
and released in public reports. The merits behind these collections are numerous as are the potential
uses for the data. Of particular consideration are the Uniform CrimeReports and the National
Incident Based Reporting System. While both reports aim to measure the different aspects of crime,
much is often lost in translation when presented to the general population.
First we will examine the Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) and some of the key characteristics that
differentiate it from other reporting methods. The UCR is a crime measurement system that was
established in 1929 by the International Association of Chiefs of Police in order to provide
information at the national level on serious crimes reported to law enforcement from the state level
and lower. This system was originally published in a guide entitled Crime Reporting: A Complete
Manual for Police. The intent of this manual was to establish reporting criteria and categories of
offenses.
To meet the criteria for this type of reporting the crime must be of a serious offense and be
considered highly likely to be reported to the police. All data reported to this system is voluntary.
Originally, these specific crime types were referred to as

What Is The Distortion In Naook Of The Penguins
Reality distortion in Nanook of the North and March of the Penguins
The documentary Nanook of the north portrays itself as an actual depiction of the life and culture
of the Inuit people through the eyes of the great hunter Nanook and his family; it is a silent film
with cartoony music in time with the actions depicted, this musical affect reminds me of the
music played in Disney s Marry Melodies and it works to give an air of livelihood and
inconsequentiality that would probably not exist in actuality. This form of musical choice was very
deliberate and it was later realized the almost the entirety of the film was fabricated and Nanook
wasn t really what he seemed at all. Nanook of the north distorts the reality of the Inuit world
relying completely on western ideals and values, both undermining the truth of the culture shown as
well as trying to make it identifiable for its audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

been a book instead. The directors did an excellent job of giving the movie a romantic and relevant
air making it both watchable and

Positive Work Ethic
was raised by my parents to never lose sight of my goals and to always have a positive work
ethic. My parents were born in India and they moved to Canada in hopes that their children
could have a better life. They work hard everyday so that my siblings and I do not have to quit
school like they did. My greatest eye opening experience was when I started working with my
mother as a general factory worker in grade ten. The working conditions were very tough in which
we stood for long hours and we had to be constantly working quickly. I met many great women and
men who were new immigrants and heard their struggles in their birth country. However, despite all

Case Study Of Cagkor Air
Introduction
The research question in the title of this extended essay focuses on Should Cambodia Angkor Air
change their marketing strategies to increase their market share of flights between Siem Reap and
Guangzhou? Due to the recent development in the Chinese tourism market there has also been a
growth in Cambodia s aviation market . Cambodia Angkor Air is the nation s flag carrier and has
also started expanding into the market segment of flights between Cambodia and China. Currently
they are not the market leader of this flight route, this could be because the marketing strategies of
the airlines might not be appropriate for the clientele. In order to answer this research question the
appropriate secondary research was undertaken. The research consists mainly of research from

  • 2. The Pros of Employment for Ex-Cons Essay The Pros of Employment for Ex Cons In the last thirty years the crime rate in the United States has decreased, but the number of people incarcerated has increased because longer minimum sentences and stricter requirements for parole have been established. Offenders serve longer prison sentences that lead to a variety of employment related barriers to overcome after release (Bracey 253). In the State of Nebraska, ex offenders find little help when searching for employment. On the Department of Correction s website, the mission statement reads, The mission of the Department of Correctional Services is to serve and protect the public by providing control, humane care, and program opportunities for those individuals placed in its custody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employment, or lack there of, is said to be one of the top two factors in recidivism (Agan Mencl; Pannkuk). Recidivism has become a nationwide problem, and many are looking for ways to reduce its rate (Bracey 253). Ex offenders have a hard time finding long standing, good paying employment because of the barriers they face. One of those barriers is a lack of skills needed to gain employment (Holzer, Raphael, and Stoll 4 5). Many offenders are both undereducated and unemployed when they enter prison, and while in prison, often fail to gain adequate education or skills because there are no resources offered to acquire these skills (Smith). Also, employers fear hiring ex offenders because of their criminal past. John Rakis, who wrote, Improving the Employment Rates of Ex Prisoners Under Parole, says many employers have a prejudice, against hiring an ex offender (Rakis 8). Along with employers being wary of a criminal past, ex offenders also have large gaps in their employment history, as a result of the time served in prison. These gaps cause ex offenders to appear as undependable employees, and employers become hesitant of hiring the ex offenders (Bracey 253). Richard Coley and Paul Barton, who jointly wrote, Locked up and Locked out: An Educational Perspective on the U.S. Prison Population, say, Employers value experience and continuity of work history (Coley and Barton 30). Positive aspects Islam is a religion where science has always formed an integral part of religion historically and many leaders can be attributed to bring science to Islam. • 4. Persuasive Essay On Seat Belt Safety On April 15th, 2017, a student rolled his car two and half times, the car was totaled. The student walked away without a scratch on him due to the fact that he was wearing a seatbelt. That student was me. The act of putting your seat belt into the buckle of your seat takes a mere two seconds. Two seconds is obviously a small price to pay if the cost could potentially be your entire life. When drivers and passengers are involved in car accidents, they are more likely to survive if they are wearing a seatbelt. Seat belts save lives as well as they often prevent major injuries. When involved in a serious car accident, seat belts have proven to be effective in saving lives and preventing injury. When involved in a car accident, passengers in the car are subject to concussion, ejection, paralyzation, or even death. Seat belts strap a passenger into their seat in the car, this prevents ejection from the vehicle. 75% of people who are ejected from their vehicles die from impact or related injuries (CDC). This incredibly high statistic proves the effectiveness of seatbelts holding you into the car and preventing death by ejection. In addition to this, the US Department of Transportation states that 88.5% of people used seat belts in 2016 (US Department of Transportation). This number is up 7% from 81.2% in 2006, meaning drivers and passengers alike are realizing the necessity of wearing a seatbelt. The increased use of seat belts is likely due to scare tactics used by law ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Problem Of Abusive Relationships I would first like to start off by saying that this has been a very difficult topic for me. That is why I have waited until the last minute to post this week. It has only been a year since I have left my fourteen year abusive marriage. I hide the abuse from all of my friends and family. When you are in the situation you do not realize how bad it is until you are almost dead or in jail. An abusive relationship is like a leaking faucet that starts with a slow drip and over time the slow drip has become a flooded house because the pipe has finally broke. First comes the fight, then comes the violent episode, then the honeymoon phase after the violent episode. The make up sex was so intense. He would love to hit me then make me have sex with him. He would say it is such a turn on. He would always say I cannot believe I did that. I am so sorry it will never happen again. Sometimes months would go buy even years but it would always start back up. I will say that the emotional abuse I suffered was far worse than the physical abuse. I would rather my ex hit me than tell me that I was a pathetic, dumb bitch that didn t deserve to be alive. I am in therapy and supports groups right now and they are helping me get a better understanding of why I stayed and how to never be in a situation like that again. I am a work in progress and I am happy to say I am alive and I am finding my happy again. Intimate partner violence describes physical, sexual, or psychological harm by a current or ... • 7. The Origin Of Syrian Heritage The very origin of Syrian heritage is dominated by foreign empires Assyrians, British, Egyptians, French, Hittites, Macedonian Greeks, Mongols, Persians, Romans, and Turks. The power of the aforementioned foreign empires greatly influenced the development of Syria. Just in the last three hundred and fifty years, the political rule in Syriahas shifted several different times from the Ottomans to the Assyrians, from the Assyrians to the British and French, from the British and French to the Baath Party, from the Baath Party to the United Arab Republic, and from the United Arab Republic to the rule of Assad. The Syrian economy in the sixteenth century was mainly supported by agriculture and military pursuits, while advances in the nineteenth century allowed for an economic growth boosted by energy and mineral resources electrical generation, mining, nuclear energy, and oil and natural gas and industry and manufacturing. During the last five centuries, Syria has been occupied by Christians (Catholic, Orthodox, and others), Druze, Jews, Kurds, Shia Muslims (Alawis, Ismailis, and others), Sunni Muslim Arabs, and Yazidis. Despite that, Syrian society has still been overwhelmingly Muslim. While the development of economics and religion have changed Syrian history immensely, the development of politics has been the driving force in Syrian evolution. The economic advances throughout Syrian history are closely linked to the political changes occurring within each different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Importance of the Renaissance to the Reformation in... The Importance of the Renaissance to the Reformation in Germany The reformation was a movement that fundamentally challenged the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. The role of the clergy was undermined and the relationships between national countries and the Roman Catholic Church were threatened. The renaissance began in Italy during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries through patronage and the flourishing society, and Rome achieved cultural prominence. It later spread throughout Europe and began a rediscovery of classical thoughts and influenced painters, such as Raphael and Michelangelo, sculptors such as Donatello and writers, such as Johann Reuchlin, Ulrich Von Hutten and Desiderius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was significant, as the church had seen itself as the sole interpreter of the bible; this made the bible the main authority for religious belief and not the church. The circulation of literature also meant that much of the laity had access to knowledge and so become literate and consequentially the Catholic Church s monopoly over education and communicating was broken up. Martin Luther, a scholar and Augustian Friar, had also been influenced by the renaissance and humanism and had developed his own ideas about salvation, the treasury of merits and the issues taught by the Roman Catholic Church. His ideas were based upon the scriptures, sola scriptura, as these were the only things that were beyond fallibility, he believed that original texts should also be studied. Luther also believed that it was by man s own faith that he could achieve eternal salvation, sola fide, and that god alone decided a man s fate, therefore good deeds and the purchasing of indulgences and merits were worthless. In 1517, Johann Tetzel came to England, authorised by the Archbishop Albrecht to sell indulgences, to raise money for he debts he owed to Rome. Selling of indulgences exacerbated Luther. He felt that the Roman Catholic Church, who were supposedly trying to help people reach eternal salvation; were not fulfilling its duty, as a truly repentant Christian had already gained remission from ... One can see from the repeating faces and the words The rise of women = the rise of the nation circling the faces in the center of the poster. It also gives more closure than it would have without the bold, red text. The repetition of faces and words in different colors in this visual composition makes it pleasing to the eye. The faces are very similar to each other, but with subtle differences, such as the three mouths, eyelashes, and the beige face has more hair than the other two. The three faces work well together because they are very different from each other in colorand they have the same texture. The poster is divided symmetrically with the color beige on the left side and navy blue on the right. The Common Fruit Fly Drosophila Melanogaster Name: Hussain NaeemPS ID #: 1401609BIOL 3311 Fall 2014 Lab Section: 15833Date: 9/28/15TA Instructor Name: Esra Unsal Writing Assignment 3: Eyes in flies: An overview of the cinnabar gene and its relation to Huntington s disease Introduction The common fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is often regarded as the model organism for genetic testing due to many factors such as its short reproductive cycle, its similarities to humans, or the ease of tracking mutations in Drosophila melanogaster. The Drosophila melanogaster is used to model diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, and Huntington s Disease. By studying the changes in how the proteins interact, the origin of such disease can be found providing a deeper understanding of how to cure these fatal ailments. Since Drosophila melanogaster is 70% similar to the human genome mutation in humans can easily be replicated in the flies. Due to their short lifespan, the Drosophila melanogaster allow for the progression of the mutations to occur rapidly and allow tracing of the mutation into subsequent generations. Drosophila melanogaster generally has a phenotypic change associated with mutated genes that control the coding of certain proteins. A mutation in the cinnabar gene, which causes the ocelli to become colorless and the eyes to become a bright red color, was originally discovered by Roy Clausen, a professor at the University of California in 1918. The cinnabar gene is a protein coder gene which controls how the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Early Dynastic period, the elite members of society would be buried under a tomb structure called a mastaba. Inside the mastaba would be a sealed room for the ka statue of the departed. This room is called the serdab. These funerary structures would often be arranged together into a necropolis and would be faced towards the direction of the setting sun. One of the most impressive necropolises is Djoser s complex at Saqqara. • 12. A Brief Note On Deaths From Drunk Driving Essay Andrew Weaver Mrs. Gallos English 3 1 December 2016 Deaths From Drunk Driving When driving down the road two ambulance s fly by with sirens screaming, on down the road the ambulance s stop along with three fire truck s on the side of the road surrounded by many police officers, passing by there is a car flipped upside down with another car head on into a tree and white drapes over top of bodies on the road, through the window there is a man there blowing into a breathalyzer, the number comes up as .16% this man is drunk and also the the driver of the car that s flipped. Drunk driving is the cause of this, being under the influence messes up the train of thought of the brain and messes with eye vision and reaction time. People are going crazy driving drunk around the world, nobody is good at drinking and driving and never will be. Drunk Driving is a serious problem in the United States and even all around the world, this needs to come to a stop because innocent people are losing their lives from idiots driving while under the influence. The scutum was used from the early Roman Republic until the third century CE and helped to define many of the Roman battle tactics that made them so successful. The curved, semi cylindrical design provided full body protection and was especially used in the testudo formation during sieges. The Roman Scutum is a perfect example of the military genius of the Roman Legion. The Roman Empire was created from the Roman Republic and became a huge part of Western Europe. Warfare was an important way of life in both the Republic and the Empire. Rome greatly benefitted from the riches brought back from conquered territories. The Romans believed themselves to be descendents of the war god Mars and also believed in the superiority of their culture. The power of the Roman military came from the professionalism of their heavy infantry. They were highly adaptable, borrowing ideas from outsiders. They changed their tactics, formations, and even their armor to fit the terrain or the enemy. They were also well disciplined. The nurses in the clip did not exhibit this professional role, the nurses were hesitant in following the physician s orders, but none of the nurses spoke up on the patient s behalf. Nurses are often in the best position to communicate with team members and the patient s family on behalf of the patient, because in most cases, the nurse provides the most interpersonal contact with the patient. In this situation, the doctor asked the husband if he could resuscitate his wife despite her having a DNR. The nurse in the room could have interjected and said that the wife has already signed off on a DNR, and the question of resuscitation is off the table. Also, the nurse could have explained the patient s wishes to the husband and the doctor. In this case, the doctor was influenced by the husband s wants, the husband had told the doctor that he wants his wife to live. 2. The two provisions from the Nursing Code of Ethics that were violated are Provision 2 and 3. Provision 2 states the nurse s primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, community, or population (Brown, Lachman Swanson, 2015). • 33. Phonic Strategies Answer: I use some strategies from Orton Gillingham. I would focus on breaking apart words and the rules that go along with it. I think you need it. I teach Zack (her son) with phonics. I do not feel we do a strong enough foundation in it. It needs to be focused on longer then what it is. Analysis: Phonics is understanding the relationship between letters and sounds. It is important for all people to get a good grasp of it when they are young. Having this knowledge will create a strong basis for learning the English language. Mrs. Baughman uses phonics as much as she can in her sixth grade science and language arts classes. The formal teaching of phonics is finished before sixth grade, but she believes it is important to go over it as much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baughman is using word identification strategies in her classroom. Some strategies to help with word identification are using context clues, word analysis (affixes and suffixes), and sounding out words. Mrs. Baughman is doing very well on how she is handling words that are hard to identify. In her science class she probably runs into many words that are very hard for her students to say. These sight words would be considered Tier three words. This is Isabel Beck s way of categorizing vocabulary words into three tiers: Tier one, Tier two, and Tier three. Tier one words are the basic words that children should already know like door, paper, and ball. Tier two words are high frequency words that are needed when using mature language. Some examples include analysis, performed, and benevolent. Lastly, Tier three words are only found in specific fields of study like prokaryote, isotope, and arachnids. You only find these words when teaching a certain topic like Mrs. Baughman s science class. Telling a student to sound out the word can help them to identify what it may be. An example of this happened to me while I was in high school. I came across the word Mediocre and I could not figure out the pronunciation of this word so I asked my teacher. Once she gave me the right pronunciation I understood the meaning of it without asking. This is why word identification is so important. Once a student knows how to pronounce words correctly they will more easily be able to grasp the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Judiciary And The Federal Budget Poorly crafted statues almost always require future revision, sometimes in another moment of crisis. This type of law making tends to increase the power of executive agencies as well as the courts. Because the judiciary is forced to clarify legislation, to rule on its details and apply legislation to uncertain situations, vague legislationends up allocating substantial power to the judiciary. Imprecise and open ended statues often increase to power of executive agencies, too. Such agencies are given broad mandates without much guidance or oversight. Decades ago, the US Congress would assign specific priorities and focuses to federal agencies when approving the yearly federal budget. This guidance is especially important because the legislature exerts little other control over independent agencies, like the Federal Trade Commission or the Federal Communications Commission. Now, because the federal budget is so often approved during crisis conditions (and sometimes merely extends the previous year s budget into the next), Congress offers little guidance to independent agencies. This enhances the power of independent agencies while leaving them without guidance. Unger s preferred mode of organizing politics would entail a substantial increase to the last minute compromises and revisions that cause such confusion. The courts, too, will be called upon to specify legislative details, meaning, and reach of legislation. Many scholars in the legal realism camp ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Art And The Holocaust In just twelve years, a heinous vision executed nearly six million Jewish people at the hands of Hitler and his followers, making the Holocaust debatably the most tragic and shameful event recorded in Earth s history. During this time, different races, ethnicities, and religious groups were persecuted and annihilated for their beliefs that conflicted with Hitler s persistence to eliminate the flaws of humanity. Hitler and his followers had one goal in mind: to cultivate a master race for the next generation. Under his guidance for Germany, countries were destroyed and millions were killed. Pain, death and suffering for millions, put towards an effort that would forever haunt survivors, and leave future generations struggling to grasp at understanding the past. As time has gone by, the number of Holocaust survivors has been decreasing expeditiously and history seems to be slipping away from one s fingertips; however, this specific strand of events and their survivor s legacy is continuing to reside in the current era, especially through art and literature. Novels, poetry, paintings, films, and other forms of art relating to the Holocaustquickly surfaced after the occurrence and still continue today. Artists search for a catharsis from the atrocious genocide that seems to surround them. With this newly spread genre of art, many critics rose up, like Adorno, a German philosopher, to prove that these artistic representations were degrading to the survivors and the actual ... • 38. The Effect of Marriage on a Woman of the Victorian Period Kate Chopin Author Kate Chopin is considered a feminine author because most of her stories feature a plot about a turn of the twentieth century woman who is struggling against the restrictions of the gender biases of her period. At this time in history women were socially insignificant. They were not allowed to have any real power but instead were relegated to the private sphere. A woman s only role in life at the time was as wife and mother. Any ambition outside of these roles was considered abnormal and a proper woman of society would never dream of trying to move beyond their assigned gender roles. This of course is not natural and Chopin writes stories where socially repressed women illustrate their true need within for independence and freedom beyond what society says is appropriate. The female character s need for independence in Kate Chopin s writing is evident in two of her published short stories, The Story of an Hour and The Storm. In The Story of an Hour a woman named Louise Mallard learns that her husband has been killed in a horrific train accident. Her loved ones are immediately concerned that this news will be too much for poor Louise to bear. Louise suffers from a heart ailment, which in the Victorian period made her only more attractive as a society wife because she was fragile and physically impaired and no woman should strive to be strong or healthy. Customer Expectation And How Much They Differ From High... eCommerce Strategy Introduction In this assignments I will discuss internet customer expectation and how much they differ from high street customers, the potential impact of ecommerce applications and planning and managing an ecommerce strategy. I will also discuss the risk of linking business systems to the internet. Impact of e Commerce on business Internet customers expect to have 24/7 service that is quick and easy with little to no contact with human members of staff. Speed is key. Maintaining a quick and high performing website is integral to ecommerce success, particularly during high demand times. Internet customers will become frustrated quickly if access is slow or not attainable and so will give up and try another rival business due to the ease of being able to visit multiple competitors within minutes. Surveys have shown that customers get frustrated with e commerce sites due to pop up adds, difficulty with finding specific items, service isn t as good as in the actual store and the service isn t personalised. For ecommerce businesses, customer expectations have become very high. They want cheaper products, in good condition with a quick delivery time and good customer service if they were to come into contact with an employee. This act of Coraline going into the corridor while having no idea where the corridor leads and without even thinking about the possible consequences of this action shows Coraline s overall lack of maturity and her naive childlike ways. Before Coraline makes her ultimate transition from naГЇve and fearless child to a brave, confident, and independent girl she further displays her childlike ways by always having a strong desire to receive what she wants; and if she fails to get what she wants she expresses her displeasure.
