National Rifle Association Interest Group Papers
The National Rifle Association Interest Group Paper The National Rifle Association is a very
historic and well known organization which was founded in 1871. The NRA is widely known
for protecting the second amendment of the constitution which is what gives people the right to
keep and bear arms and very strong promoters of proper gun use. Sarah Horwitz, state s that,
Today it is arguably the most powerful lobbying organization in the nation s capital and certainly
the most feared. (Achenbach, Joel, Scott Higham, and Sari Horwitz) What makes the National
Rifle Association so strong of an interest group is how they do not shy away from controversy
on gun control which is also why their number of group members is so large and continues to
grow year after year. The National Rifle Association has a long, active history which have made
it the powerful nonprofit interest group that still gets a lot of attention to this day. Founded in
1871 by retired Army and National Guard officers whose main goal was to promote the proper
use of rifles and improve marksmanship. The idea of this interest group all started when the group
s first president, Ambrose Burnside who was a Civil War general witnessed firsthand his own
soldiers lacking the ability to shoot straight, so from then on the NRA focused on hunting, shooting
and conservation, and no one thought of it as a gun lobby. (Achenbach, Joel, Scott Higham, Sari
Horwitz.) In the 1960 s there was a rise in assassinations, riots and

Abyssal Fish Essay
Abyssal fish
Abyssal fish are those fish that live below the photic zone of the ocean, below 2000 m. These
fishes must survive in extremely harsh conditions, such as hundreds of bars of pressure, small
amounts of oxygen, very little food (no photosynthesis), total darkness, and extreme cold. Examples
of Species: Lanternfish, flashlight fish, anglerfish, tripod fish, giant squid, and others.
In order to survive and reproduce, the abyssal animals developed necessary adaptation (anatomical
and behavioral) to suit the deep water environment. These include:
Coping with total darkness: Many species are blind and rely on other senses to replace peripheral
vision (e.g. smell) for finding a mate and/or avoiding predators.
Fish that are not blind may

The Corleonesi Research Paper
The Corleonesi was a mafia group whose leaders were originated from Corleone, Italy. The main
leader Luciano Leggio. Leggio started out working for Micele Navarra. While under Navarra,
Leggio s murder of Placido Rizzotto, a resistance veteran, is on the most noteworthy murders of a
political figure in the years after the war. This murder shows just the beginning brutality of what
was yet to come of Leggio and the Corleonesi. Leggio hid from authority after the murdering
Rizzotto, and due to his skill at staying away from justice, he was given the nickname Scarlet
Pimpernel . Much like the brutality shown in his murder of Rizzotto, his secretiveness and
concealment would also become areas that the Corleonesi would become known for. Leggio,...

Continuing with the theme of violence, the Corleonesi attacked and killed three of Navarra s best
fighters in the middle of Corleone, while also injuring innocent bystanders. His violence and coup
against the established bosses was not something commonly done; furthermore, it displayed that the
power of group lie with its military prowess, rather than their political influence. The Corleonesi
functioned under the plan of using devastating violence to get what they want while suffering short
term political loss. The Corleonesi continued their fight against the Navarra and as they were about
to claim victory against the Navarra, the Ciaculli car bomb went off which led to mass arrests of
mafia members, including Leggio. Leggio s trial is carried out very similar to the ways of other
mafia trails, such as Notarbartolo s murder trial, where evidence is lost, and defendants do not talk,
which then ultimately lead to the mafioso not getting convicted. After not getting convicted, he
would continue his work in the mafia, by becoming one of the leaders of the Commission when it

Essay about Technology and Social Justice
In Technology and Social Justice (pp. 132 141) Freeman Dyson expresses a deep optimism about
humans ability to use technological innovation to increase social justice. Exactly how does Dyson
answer pessimistic doubts that technological innovations frequently serve to increase social
oppression and inequality? What is your assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of Dyson s
response to that pessimistic perspective?
Freeman Dyson answers the pessimistic doubts that technological innovations serve to increase
social oppression and inequality by discussing the difference in technology between the rich and the
poor. He explains how technology is a contributing factor in creating social injustice and endorses
his deduction. He explains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once we are through playing with it and the new wears off, we are more apt to allow others to
have it, as long as there is something newer to replace it.
Dyson addresses the pessimistic doubts that technology innovations frequently serve to increase
social oppression and inequality. He discussed the difference in technology between the rich and the
poor. He explains the effects of technology as it is contributed in a practical way to social justice.
Dyson supports his conclusion though a combination of historical reflection, personal anecdotes,
and the exercise of technological and moral imagination (Winston and Edelbach).
Dyson begins to address the pessimistic doubts with historical examples. In the fourteenth century
the new technology of printing transformed the face of Europe. Among people throughout Europe
books and education was spread. Printing paved the way for the Protestant Reformation in Northern
Europe. That was made possible by the printing of the Bible.
Technology was also used in practical ways throughout the next centuries. Public health technology
through clean water supplies, sewage treatment, vaccination, and antibiotics. Public health
technology was used to protect the rich from contagion and sickness for the poor if it was available.
Technology of synthetic material was once a way to determine the rich from the poor. That was until
the nineteenth century that

THE ISSUE OF COPYRIGHTABILITY OF CHARACTERS
I. INTRODUCTION
Characters exist in human, animal, and even extra terrestrial form, in literature, films and other
forms of dramatic visualizations, and are shaped by their names, personalities, characteristics and
manners. There are several such characters that the public is familiar with, and such popular figures
form part of an industry worth trillions, thereby necessitating protection for them against
duplication. Enter copyright law. This law, which finds its origin in the Statute of Anne
, seeks to
strike a balance between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These include visual characters (as observed in movies, plays, etc) and animated characters (such
as cartoons and comics). On the other hand, fictional characters are described using words as a
medium, and coupled with the reader s imagination, they form a picture in the mind. Since
pictorial representations are more relatable and easier to commit to memory, graphic characters are
easily accorded protection under Copyright Law. However, it should be kept in mind that although
the Copyright Act defines artistic work , such work is inclusive of drawings, paintings and
sculptures, not characters . For instance, copyright law may enable an artist to protect a sketch of
Mickey Mouse under the category of artistic work, however, the character of Mickey Mouse is
derived by the reader from the various episodes or comics it is found in, and therefore doesn t fall
under the ambit of artistic work. Further, the book or movie the character appears in may be
copyrighted as a whole (as a literary or cinematographic work), but that doesn t prevent reproduction
of the character.
However, it has been observed that the courts have exercised leniency in granting protection to
graphic characters with visual representations that are easily identifiable. In the case of Hill v
Whalen Martell , the court opined that the stage characters of Nutt and Giff were absolute copies of
the plaintiff s characters Mutt

3D Art Case Study
1.The 2D manuscript painting on vellum of The Limbourg Brothers from the February calendar
was a beautiful lively artwork. The painting illustrates the frigid winter air by using the white
colors of the snow to cover the landscape. Proportion is used to portray the far distance at which
the center village lies. The individuals in the painting are also larger in size than the animals to
give a more realistic representation. The artist uses lines to create the edges of the farm building
built of wood. The top of the calendar uses a half circle shape in which to illustrate the dates.
Emphasis is given to the top of the calendar that displays the dates using a dark blue and gold color
to depict the night sky with constellations. The 3D sculpture... Show more content on

This 3D sculpture is providing balance with its symmetrical borders that surround Saint Mark.
Emphasis is placed on the center of the sculpture where Saint Mark is situated inside the empty
space off the sculpture. The 2D I found least aesthetically pleasing was the Flemish oil painting of
Jan Eyck, Portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and Giovanna Genami. Although painted with an
astonishing level of realism, his use of proportion when painting the hands is disproportionally
small and seem flattened. This illustrates how marriage back then did not require the presence of
a priest or minister. The 3D German gothic Pieta made from polychromed wood was a disturbing
sculpture. The heads of the Virgin Mary and Jesus are larger than their bodies. Anatomical details
are exaggerated to emphasize the suffering Jesus endured. Repetition within the sculpture takes
form in the flowers of the pedestal in which the Virgin Mary sits. These flowers contrast with the
gruesome blood pouring from the body of Jesus. Overall this sculpture lacks color and looks like it
has a rough texture. These artworks all correlate to one another because they are within the 15th

century and early 20th century s most prominent black empowerment leaders was W.E.B
DuBois. In research it is clear that DuBois was not subtle to one job or career choice. His main
goal was to improve the lives of African Americans. As a Civil Rights activist, sociologist,
educator, historian, writer, editor, poet, and scholar, DuBois contributed to changing American
society today. On February 23, 1868, William Edward Burghardt DuBois was born to Alfred
Alexander DuBois and Mary Sylvina Burghardt DuBois. Born and raised in Great Barrington,
Massachusetts, DuBois was educated alongside Caucasian children and taught by white teachers
as well. In 1885 he migrated to Nashville, Tennessee to attend Fisk University ( W.E.B DuBois. ).
While at Fisk, DuBois encountered irrational racism and Jim Crow laws for the first time.
According to Derrick Alridge, DuBois focused ... on philosophy, history, and poverty. It was at
this point that he began to form his idea of the talented tenth a cadre of college educated blacks
that would break down the institutional structures of American racism while elevating their race to
a pinnacle of respect in the world community (Alridge). After graduating from Fisk in 1888,
DuBois was accepted into Harvard as a graduate. While at Harvard, he studied abroad at Humboldt

Advantages Of The Middle Colonies
Do you want to live in a new colony? The middle colonies are the best colony of them all. The
middle colonies were made up of four states Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Delaware.
The middle colonies presented a good amount of religion unlike the new england colonies and the
southern colonies. The middle colonies practiced many kinds of religion for example Quakers,
Lutherans, Dutch, Mennonites, Calvinists, and Presbyterians made the dominance of one faith
next to impossible. Also you can practice your religion freely. Middle Colonies had very fertile
land. Because of this many different crops and foodcould be grown. Many of the people lived on
farms so they could produce their own food. Some things they would grow was wheat,

Milky Way Photography Analysis
Although shooting the sky, including scenes, such as the Milky Way, may seem impossible; it is
in fact fairly easy depending on location and timing. In Gavin Hardcastle s How to do Milky Way
Photography tutorial he thoroughly explains how the importance of positioning of the camera,
moon, and timing of seasons, can all affect the shot. The most important tip to remember is where
the Milky Way is positioned; it is best when it is positioned in the southeast and is best seen in the
southern hemisphere between February to October. Phone apps, such as Stellarium, can help better
determine the location of the Milky Way so the photographer can plan where to shoot. Although the
Milky Way is more visible in the southern hemisphere, anyone can take

The Cost Of Transportation In The United States
Transportation is the process of which people get from one location to another; however, it
comes at a cost. The price we all pay when we take a method of transportation comes in two
forms. The first form is time and the second is a monetary value. In recent days it seems like the
cost that correlates to transportation is rising. As raw materials like oil and coal become scares
throughout the world the price for those materials increase as the demand increases. With the cost
of raw materials increasing it sends a shock wave down the economic ladder which leads to
transportation cost rising. On the other hand, the time it takes to travel your destination also gets
longer since more people are on the road which ultimately leads to a slower commute time. The
United Nations stated that in 2050, the world population will increase from 7.2 billion to 9.1
billion people (United Nations, 2015).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did Henry Ford Revolutionized Society
I will build a car for the great multitude (Ford in Foner Garraty). This was the promise and the
realization of Henry Ford, who created the Model T for the common man. The Model T influenced
everyday life for the Middle class, whom could not afford a car in the early 20th century. Henry
Ford is one of the most significant people in American history because he revolutionized the
automobileindustry in the United States, he revolutionized mass production and the assembly line,
and he revolutionized the economy with production of the Model T. Henry Fordrevolutionized the
automobile industry by creating a simple and affordable car. He set out to build a car large
enough for the family but small enough for the individual to run and care for. [It must also be] so
low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one (Dunn, et al.). The

Because Henry Ford wanted to make an affordable car he needed workers to build the car. Ford
paid assembly line workers $5.00 per day at a time when prevailing wages averaged about $2.35
per day (Foner Garraty). Most of the employees in Ford s factory were middle class citizens who
who had no job before Henry Ford came along. The main reason Ford paid his workers this wage
was to be sure his employees could buy his product. If Ford were to never introduce this wage to
his employees, they would not have been able to buy his cars. Known as the most dramatic event
in the history of wages Henry Ford increased the wages to $5.00 and reduced the work day by 90
minutes (Dunn, et al.). Henry Ford nearly doubled the average wage to ensure that people would
work for him. Because Henry Ford increased the wage, the middle class formed. The automobile
became the fulcrum for a new economy. It spurred travel, pushed the growth of cities outward and
eventually helped create suburban life (Dunn, et

Mma Takedowns
Five Basic MMA Takedowns that Work
One of the most important aspects of a successful MMA toolkit is a fighter s mastery of takedown
techniques. And just like every other part of mixed martial arts, the takedown game is an evolving
one, with fighters continually refining and expanding upon basic techniques. That said, by some
estimates more than eighty percent of all takedowns that occur in MMA utilize just five basic
techniques: the double leg, the single leg, the outside trip, the bodylock and the suplex. We present
those techniques here, in order of popularity, and with brief explanations of each.
1 The Double Leg Takedown
The double leg takedown is the most commonly used take down in traditional wrestling and is also
the most popular in mixed martial arts. In fact, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While in a clutch the opportunity to trip one the opponents legs from the outside, forcing them off
balance and to the mat will often come up without much forethought.
4 The Body Lock
There are many variations to the body lock, some of which employ an outside or inside leg trip.
The move is typically executed by wrapping the opponents body up in a hold, lifting them off or
both of their feet and slamming them to the mat. It can be highly effective either with or without a
trip added.
5 The Suplex
Generally associated with professional wrestling, the suplex is actually quite commonly employed
in traditional and Greco roman wrestling. You can employ the suplex in a variety of ways and from
a variety of holds and positions, including wrapping your opponent up from behind, lifting them off
the mat and slamming them down.
All Takedowns Require Practice and Technique
Like all other aspects of MMA, takedowns require practice and a solid understanding of technique
to execute properly. They all have their strengths, weaknesses, and potential for setup and effective

They are easier to market in a standardized way than other products because there are no traditional

2.Price: Price will always vary from market to market. Price is affected by many variables: cost of
product development (produced locally or imported), cost of ingredients, cost of delivery
(transportation, tariffs, etc.), and much more. Additionally, the product s position in relation to the
competition influences the ultimate profit margin. Whether this product is considered the high end,
expensive choice, the economical, low cost choice, or something in between helps determine the
price point.
3.Place: How the product is distributed is also a country by country decision influenced by how
the competition is being offered to the target market. Using Coca Cola as an example again, not all
cultures use vending machines. In the United States, beverages are sold by the pallet via warehouse
stores. In India, this is not an option. Placement decisions must also consider the product s position

Whitman s poem, portrays the mockingbird as innocent but as a fragile creature with horrific

which is rooted in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama, in the Deep South, during a time of

She was part of a southern family related to the confederate general Robert E. Lee. Her father
was a lawyer and newspaper editor. Harper Lee attended Huntington College and then the
University of Alabama as well as attended Oxford University as an exchange student for one year
(McGovern 2). Lee entered law school briefly but soon left for New York to pursue a writing
career. Harper Lee s father, similar to Atticus, Scout s father, had defended two black men who
were accused of killing a white storekeeper; both men, father and son, were later hanged (Big

changes such as Brown versus Board of Education (1954) which held that the racial segregation
of children in public schools violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment

life injustices such as Amasa Lee s case and the Scottsboro trials still remained. It was events like
these which helped to inspire Lee to write a book that brings to light the social issues of the day
such as social class distinction and, of course, racism. However, the novel also establishes the idea
that not all were guilty of heinous behavior and ideology some, like the mockingbird, were

Greek Myth And Play Oedipus The King Essay
Throughout the movie Lone Star, the influence of the Greek myth and play Oedipus the King play
an important role in the movie line. The influence that Oedipus has on the characters of Lone Star
causes the movie to become a modern interpretation of Sophocles infamous play. Although the two
are different and remain unique in their own regards, there are several key aspects that unite the
movie and play. Without the presence of boundaries, the issue of relationships and the influence of
lies and secrets on the characters and outlying communities Lone Star would not have connection to
Oedipusthe King. An important theme to both Lone Star as well as Oedipus The Kingif that of
boundaries. This can be viewed in both a geographical sense as well as a personal journey. Sam
Deeds in Lone Star recently returned home to take up the post of his late father, the Sheriff of
Rio County. The town, named Frontera, lies on the border of Texas and Mexico, causing border
crossing to be an apparent theme in Sam s quest for justice. As Geoffrey W. Bakewell writes in his

brings knowledge and exacts a price (39). Sam travels geographical borders in order to uncover the
killer of Sheriff Charlie Wade as well as to find out more about the habits of Buddy, Sam s late

Anderson Quillan Syndrome Essay
Introduction
Anderson Quillan Syndrome (AMS) is a rare disease with a prevalence rate of 300/100,000 as
determined by a recent ecological study. There is speculation that AMS is a consequence of certain
exposures, namely increased tea or chocolate consumption and smoking. There is a possible genetic
link, but not all AMS patients exhibit this genetic risk. A case control study(CCS) is proposed in
which AMS cases are compared to two control groups. Control group C1 are living genetically
related family members of AMS patients and control group C2 is a more diverse cohort of non
AMS subjects without known family history of AMS. The primary goal is to determine whether
there is an association between the named exposures and AMS. The secondary goal is to determine
whether the presence of a known family history of AMS is a confounder.
Proposed Study Design
Evaluating the association of a rare disease (Anderson Quillan Syndrome) and its multiple
exposures, various study design could be utilised. Upon initial analysis, an experimental RCT would
seem the most accurate and effective in temporal causal determination, but there are ethical
concerns as subjects could be knowingly subjected to harmful exposures. Alternatively, cohort
studies measure events in temporal sequence by incidence rates, but with limitations. Limitations
include subject selection and loss to follow up biases, time (longer subjects follow up), increased

Ancient Greece Democracy
Ancient Greece is often thought of as being the birthplace of democracy. However, by taking a
closer look at the modes of government, it is clear that many elements of democracy today were
not present in society. Democracy is viewed very differently today than it was looked at in Greece,
with the meaning of equality somehow changing over thousands of years. The ways that people
participated and were represented in government has also changed, and does not show many
aspects of today s democracy. With taking a closer look of the representation of ancient peoples, the
role of women in ancient Greek society is also not substantial. Ancient Greecewas fairly democratic
because of the connections that ancient Greek government has to governments around the globe
today, the participation of the people, as well as the role women played. Today democracy is
often known for letting everyone have a say in government and letting people choose who
represents them or letting them represent themselves. Although some aspect of democracy are
prevalent in ancient Greece, there are exceptions which show how undemocratic life truly was.

The Effects of Different Temperatures on the Reaction Rates of Enzymes B. Introduction
/ Background Enzymes are proteins that are in every living organism. Cells need them to survive
and to function. Enzymes are catalysts that help to speed up the rate of reactions that otherwise
would take longer periods of time to occur. However they do not change during the reaction. A
chain of amino acids forms them. There are over a hundred different enzymes in the human body.
Each enzyme is responsible for a certain reaction that occurs in the cell. For instance, the
enzymes in our stomach cut food into small enough particles so it can be converted into energy,
which our bodies will later use. Without enzymes human wouldn t be able to breathe, eat, drink
or digest food. There are 3 main types of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, food enzymes and
digestive enzymes. Metabolic enzymes exist throughout your whole body from your organs to
your blood to inside your bones. This enzyme is essential for the growth of new cells and
maintaining new tissue. Food enzymes exist in raw food. However if the raw food is cooked
the high temperature that is involved in cooking the food will destroy the enzyme. The organs in
our bodies make digestive enzymes. This enzyme plays a major role in digestion. When we eat
raw food we don t need additional enzymes because the raw food already contains them. If we eat
a salad than there are enzymes in the salad that help break

A Madman s Diary
Introduction A Madman s Diary is China s first modern short story. The author Lu Xun has been
well respected and regarded as one of the most well known political figures in China (Goldman 446
461). Lu Xun has been praised as the warrior against traditional culture and feudal system.
Unique narrative structure A Madman s Diary is very special in its narrative structure. Its setup is
very different from the traditional narration in that it avoids the use of classical Chinese.

There are several symbolic narrations in the story. The symbolism of the story is allegorical
(Hanan 68). In the preface, Lu Xun uses an ironic technique by narrated in classical Chinese in
order to show a false and polite world made by cannibalistic feudal society. In the eyes of Lu
Xun, the madman is the hero who plays a better role in the society because only the madman
knows the truth and can rise in rebellion. The madman who is an innovative and reformed
thought representative is a symbol of oppressive man eating nature of the feudal system. Even
though he tries his best to rise in rebellion, he fails every time. He is trapped in his own mind
and can t help considering that he s in the danger of being eaten. The madman could not
understand the conspiracy of eating him, so he was suspicious of everyone. When the madman
recovers, he is not the hero anymore; also he joins others to be one of man eaters. Here, Lu Xun
s message is clear: The oppressed masses are eaters or the accomplices (Sun L. 464). Only the
madman could find the truth of the eaters. However, other people including both the empowered
and the oppressed fail to see the oppressive man eating nature of the feudal system. In addition,
the story implies that the society is ruled by the feudal system, and people of all the classes have
to abide by the same feudal rules. Also, the story helps us

Taking a Look at Big Data
The amount of data in our world has been rapidly increasing and analyzing these large data sets,
or big data, has become crucial for businesses in increasing their success. Many businesses use big
data to model their business structures, control processes, and run the business. The availability of
this data leads to a more accurate analysis of the target market. More accurate analyses lead to
more confident decision making and better decisions means greater operational efficiencies, cost
reductions and reduced risk. There are many ways in which big data can be successfully
implemented in an organization. Big data allows businesses to segment their target market, creating
more precisely tailored products and services. Big data is also used to conduct controlled
experiments to make better management decisions. Finally, big data can unlock value by making
the captured information transparent and usable at much higher frequency (Manyika, Big data: The
next frontier for innovation, competition, and productivity ). Currently, businesses are so
overwhelmed with the sheer size of information that big data collects that they fail to successfully
utilize this data. Businesses are increasingly turning to big data based visualization tools to better
utilize this information. Visualization based data tools allow businesses to combine data sources to
create custom analytical views that are flexible and easy to use. These visualization data tools are
intended to analyze the three Vs of

Good Will Hunting and Bell Hooks Keeping Close to Home Essay

are many endeavors in college but it depends on how the student reacts to these situations.

dilemma that Hooks face with her family is; she states, My parents had not been delighted that I

adamant feeling was that Hooks was brought up during a period when women didn t really leave
the house to go to school. It was unheard of to leave a small town in the south and go to a big

Decriminalization policies towards cannabis is starting to show up throughout the country,
challenging the Controlled Substance Act. This act is a statute that gives the federal government
ability to arrest when a manufacture, importation, possession, and use and distribution are founded

irrelevant in a federal prosecution case (Cannabis). Decriminalization is the lesser penalties for the
crime. Most states that are decriminalizing cannabis have drug education, treatment, and civil fines.
This is all in place of incarceration or criminal charges for the scant amount of cannabis (Galvin).
Economic Implications of Cannabis Legalization: In Colorado, the Economic Implications seem to

Corporate Restructuring Motives and Methods
Corporate restructuring is one of the most complex and fundamental phenomena that management
confronts. Each company has two opposite strategies from which to choose: to diversify or to
refocus on its core business. While diversifying represents the expansion of corporate activities,
refocus characterizes a concentration on its core business. From this perspective, corporate
restructuring is reduction in diversification. This involves a significant change in one or more of

Mencken criticized Lincoln s Gettysburg Address, saying that it made no sense. To Mencken,
the speech was just one of Lincoln s political moves to gain more fame and win the people s

mere words to soothe the listener. Mencken gave the opinion which he felt was right regarding
the message Abraham Lincoln presented at the Gettysburg Address, by criticizing it as being

because he had plans for the growth of the nation after the Civil War. Mencken presented
Lincolns speech as It is difficult to imagine anything more untrue (Mencken 1920, 775). Imagine

rate, location and pattern, extent of loss, associated symptoms, hair care practices, and
differentiation of hair shedding from breakage. Medical and family history, diet, and

operations, a wireless access point (WAP) will be installed centrally on each floor. Because of
the location of each WAP, there is a chance of signal bleed over between floors. To mitigate this
possibility, each floor will have a non overlapping channel assigned to it; floor one will use
channel 1, floor two will utilize channel 6, and floor three will employ channel 11. Furthermore,
the antenna strength will be configured so there is minimal signal bleed over outside of the
confines of the office while still having full connectivity within the confines of the building. With
this wireless architecture, employees can move from floor to floor and maintain network
connectivity without co channel interference from channel bleed over. When employees are
traveling, the implementation of terminal access controller access control system plus
(TACACS+) servers will allow remote access via a virtual private network (VPN). Between WAP
and TACACS+ employees have the ability to be mobile while using their

Why We Fought The Civil War
The Civil War continues to fascinate the American public some 150 years after the great conflict
ended. It was a struggle that directly affected almost every American living during those turbulent
years. Visit any small southern town s local cemeteries and you will most likely find graves
decorated with confederate flags in honor of those who served the Confederacy. National
battlefields and parks set aside to preserve lands so many fought and died on can be found in every
state that engaged in the great struggle. How so many young Americans found themselves caught
up in the violent divide which gripped the country is the question that seems to consume the United
States even today. There is no doubt that Slaverywas the central issue leading... Show more content

In his book Lincoln and the Decision for War: The Northern Response to Succession, Dr. Russell
McClintock described politics in the northern states before the Civil War. He writes that northern
citizens looked to their political leaders for guidance. Many of those leaders seized the opportunity
to gain power and influence. Men like John Quincy Adams, took advantage of northern attitudes
towards politicians to spread his influence. The southern states were not without political
opportunist. Men like John Calhoun saw his prestige and power grow with every confrontation.

Subsistence Agriculture vs. Industrial-Style Animal Farming
Contrast subsistence agriculture and industrial style animal farming. Subsistence farming is the
most basic of farming methods where a small plot of land is cultivated by an individual, a family
or a community just to feed their hungry mouths. All the produce is consumed by the family and
not intended for sale outside. The experts believe that this kind of farming is almost primeval and
needs to change quickly to the industrialized mode all over the world, if abject poverty and famine
are to be eradicated. Several factors have worked against the success of implementation, and they
are not only technology related, but social, educational, economic, and political, as well. Many
feminist voices have however, preferred to support the existing method of subsistence farming for
the harmony and relationship that it fostered among the people, with an argument that human
relationships, ecology and togetherness are more important than wealth (Shiva, 1989). In this
perspective, subsistence farming does not contribute to economic growth or capital accumulation
or even labor specialization. Since funds are limited to buy chemical fertilizers, most produce are
organic and genetically modified seeds are never used here (Roosevelt, 2007, Wright, 2007). You
will learn from history that subsistence farming existed in Southeast Asia, Sub Saharan Africa,
South and Central America. Over the years; take the example of British colonized Kenya. Many
subsistence farmers in Kenya where pushed

Robert Frost Imagery
Robert Frost is an English poet who wrote several poems during the 1900 s. His poems include
The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Frost s Stopping by Woods
on a Snowy Evening is literally about a person who stops in the woods on the night of December
21st or the winter solstice. The owner of the woods lives in the village so he will not see the
speaker. When the speaker stops and looks into the woods, his horse shakes his bells. However,
the speaker wants to stay in the woods, but he has miles to ride before he can go to sleep.
Through his use of imagery, figure of speech, and sound effects, Frost illustrates the influences of
life and death in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening .
Frost uses several images to portray the ideas of life and death. For example, Frost writes to watch
his woods fill up with snow (Frost l. 4). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this poem, the rhyme scheme AABA remains constant for the first three stanzas. In the fourth
stanza, the rhyme scheme changes from AABA to AABB. The last line is repeated. Frost, wants
the reader to understand the importance of miles to go before I sleep . Frost repeats this line of
poetry because he wants the reader to see that people must fulfill their responsibilities before they
die. In this line, miles mean years, and sleep means death. The speaker has more years to live
before he dies. Another example of sound effects is Frost s use of alliteration in the form of only
other and sound s the sweep (Frost l. 11) in the line the only other sound s the sweep/ of easy
wind and downy flake (Frost ll. 11 12). This line is very soothing to the reader and implies that
death is silent. Then Frost adds of easy wind and downy flake (Frist l.12). This sound effect is
assonance, as one can hear the breeze of the wind and the snow falling to the ground. These two
sounds represent the ideas of death slowly

RAIS-B
In Dr. Prosser s dissertation she asserts that any detailed analysis is a generalization because
feelings are highly changeable and unstable. She used what we learned about earlier in the
semester; the mixed method approach. She used qualitative data such as questionnaires and
psychological interview, but she also used qualitative data such as wishes, feeling tones,
occupational preference.
In her introduction she begins doings critical things, that we have previously discussed in class.
She gives the reader an operational definition of segregation. Knowing how she defines
segregation will become crucial to understanding the validity of her study and being able to
recreate it, if possible. Dr. Prosser has defined segregation in her dissertation ... Show more content

immerse themselves in black culture. When black people get to this stage they tend to idealize
everything that is considered to be part of Black culture and to denigrate everything considered
part of White culture (Gilbert et al., page 112). The final stage is Internalization, which occurs
when individuals are committed to their socio racial group. Gillet et al. contend that in their study
of 154 HBCU students, they found that while some students struggled with racial issues, it did not
impair or affect their psychological well being. This is sharp contract to black students enrolled at
Primarily white schools, who faced racial stressors, which resulted in detrimental psychological

The Effects Of Stress On Our Lives
ROUGH DRAFT
Brenna Lawrason #5687561
Stress is something that people are experiencing everyday based off things occurring in our
everyday lives. Stress is different for everyone depending on what kind of situation it is brought
upon which could vary from school work, family issues, personal problems etc. The questionnaires
entitled Social Readjustment Scale (Miller Rahe, 1997) and the Lifestyle and Habits Questionnaire
(Dinzeo, T.J., Thayasivam, U., Sledjeski, E.M., 2014) to determine what leads to high stress
levels in our lives. In the questionnaire, it describes a range of life changing events ranked from
highest to lowest levels of stress. This study that was created in 1965, their purpose was to build
on the 43 original events by adding an additional 44 events to the list. The events were duplicated
the number of events to minimize possible errors in the experiment with the overall goal to see
how a group of people could relate to similar life changing events.
High Levels of stress have a direct correlation with unhealthy behaviours affecting how our bodies
work and function. When stress is presented to people, they begin to engage in unhealthy
behaviours and activities, which lead to habits that is found to decrease in overall health. Stress
within College students is examined quite extensively to see what causes them stress, and what
kind of health issues is brought upon them. In the article entitled Stress at college: Effects on health
habits, health status and

The As A Tyrant Who Held A Reign Of Terror
There s always something watching over everyone, seeing the unprincipled and unscrupulous
mistakes, flaws, sins, and immorality. It s easy to try and escape judgment and punishment for
one s sins, but it will all come back to them in due time. Karma is prevalent in numerous religions
and candidly means good actions reap rewards, whereas malevolent actions result in future
suffering and problems. Historically speaking, there have been many cases where unscrupulous
actions have come back to bite. Maximilien de Robespierre became a tyrant who held a reign of
terror , guillotining extravagant amounts of people, many of them being innocent. Ironically
enough he was killed via guillotine. Diane de Poitiers held an affair with King Henry II of
France for many years until his death. Because of that she was sent into exile after Henry s death
by his wife, Catherine de Medici. Some may call these coincidences and whether one believes in
karma or not does not matter, as there are always consequences for one s actions. People can
slowly lose themselves once they get caught up in an aristocratic society filled with money, lust,
and glory. In The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, the eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg within the
Valley of Ashes are symbolic as to how the characters deteriorate in the wasteland of a society
made up of gentry.
The valley of ashes is representative of the destroyed and decayed nobility. The valley of ashes is a
place that at one point was in an at least

Nurture Nature Vs Nature
The debate between nature and nurture addresses genetic and environmental determinants and
which principles apply to our lives. Humans are affected by choices made by others and ourselves
and things that are meant to happen. Free will is being able to make a choice to do something on
our own or to act in certain situations independently of natural, social, or divine restraints
(Encyclopedia Britannica). Social cues are verbal or nonverbal hints that are meant to guide peers
about their actions, the conversation they re having, etc.. Determinismis the belief that everything is
naturally connected to the universe and every event happens because of the events that came before
it. Fatalism follows the belief that events occur naturally, but without influence of humans. Nurture
is a greater influences on our lives than nature; humans operate upon the principles of free will,
social cues, and determinism. Determinism supports the idea that our outcomes are based on our
choices and that they are meant to happen that way. An example of one s deterministic view is
Brent Staples describing the ways he unintentionally frightened those around him in public and
he would go out of his way to make them feel safer. It s unfair that an accomplished college
graduate should be judged for their appearance, as well as anyone else for that matter. Staples
had no obligation to act the way he did, but in order to keep himself safe, he could not pose a threat
and get away with it as a black

The NRA is widely known for protecting the second amendment of the constitution which is what gives people the right to keep and bear arms and very strong promoters of proper gun use. Sarah Horwitz, state s that, Today it is arguably the most powerful lobbying organization in the nation s capital and certainly the most feared. (Achenbach, Joel, Scott Higham, and Sari Horwitz) What makes the National Rifle Association so strong of an interest group is how they do not shy away from controversy on gun control which is also why their number of group members is so large and continues to grow year after year. The National Rifle Association has a long, active history which have made it the powerful nonprofit interest group that still gets a lot of attention to this day. Founded in 1871 by retired Army and National Guard officers whose main goal was to promote the proper use of rifles and improve marksmanship. The idea of this interest group all started when the group s first president, Ambrose Burnside who was a Civil War general witnessed firsthand his own soldiers lacking the ability to shoot straight, so from then on the NRA focused on hunting, shooting and conservation, and no one thought of it as a gun lobby. Leggio started out working for Micele Navarra. While under Navarra, Leggio s murder of Placido Rizzotto, a resistance veteran, is on the most noteworthy murders of a political figure in the years after the war. This murder shows just the beginning brutality of what was yet to come of Leggio and the Corleonesi. Leggio hid from authority after the murdering Rizzotto, and due to his skill at staying away from justice, he was given the nickname Scarlet Pimpernel . Much like the brutality shown in his murder of Rizzotto, his secretiveness and concealment would also become areas that the Corleonesi would become known for. Leggio,... Continuing with the theme of violence, the Corleonesi attacked and killed three of Navarra s best fighters in the middle of Corleone, while also injuring innocent bystanders. His violence and coup against the established bosses was not something commonly done; furthermore, it displayed that the power of group lie with its military prowess, rather than their political influence. The Corleonesi functioned under the plan of using devastating violence to get what they want while suffering short term political loss. The Corleonesi continued their fight against the Navarra and as they were about to claim victory against the Navarra, the Ciaculli car bomb went off which led to mass arrests of mafia members, including Leggio. Leggio s trial is carried out very similar to the ways of other mafia trails, such as Notarbartolo s murder trial, where evidence is lost, and defendants do not talk, which then ultimately lead to the mafioso not getting convicted. What is your assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of Dyson s response to that pessimistic perspective? Once we are through playing with it and the new wears off, we are more apt to allow others to have it, as long as there is something newer to replace it. Dyson addresses the pessimistic doubts that technology innovations frequently serve to increase social oppression and inequality. He discussed the difference in technology between the rich and the poor. He explains the effects of technology as it is contributed in a practical way to social justice. Dyson supports his conclusion though a combination of historical reflection, personal anecdotes, and the exercise of technological and moral imagination (Winston and Edelbach). Dyson begins to address the pessimistic doubts with historical examples. In the fourteenth century the new technology of printing transformed the face of Europe. Among people throughout Europe books and education was spread. Printing paved the way for the Protestant Reformation in Northern Europe. That was made possible by the printing of the Bible. Technology was also used in practical ways throughout the next centuries. Public health technology through clean water supplies, sewage treatment, vaccination, and antibiotics. These include visual characters (as observed in movies, plays, etc) and animated characters (such as cartoons and comics). On the other hand, fictional characters are described using words as a medium, and coupled with the reader s imagination, they form a picture in the mind. Since pictorial representations are more relatable and easier to commit to memory, graphic characters are easily accorded protection under Copyright Law. However, it should be kept in mind that although the Copyright Act defines artistic work , such work is inclusive of drawings, paintings and sculptures, not characters . For instance, copyright law may enable an artist to protect a sketch of Mickey Mouse under the category of artistic work, however, the character of Mickey Mouse is derived by the reader from the various episodes or comics it is found in, and therefore doesn t fall under the ambit of artistic work. Further, the book or movie the character appears in may be copyrighted as a whole (as a literary or cinematographic work), but that doesn t prevent reproduction of the character. However, it has been observed that the courts have exercised leniency in granting protection to graphic characters with visual representations that are easily identifiable. In the case of Hill v Whalen Martell , the court opined that the stage characters of Nutt and Giff were absolute copies of the plaintiff s characters Mutt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The painting illustrates the frigid winter air by using the white colors of the snow to cover the landscape. Proportion is used to portray the far distance at which the center village lies. The individuals in the painting are also larger in size than the animals to give a more realistic representation. The artist uses lines to create the edges of the farm building built of wood. Emphasis is placed on the center of the sculpture where Saint Mark is situated inside the empty space off the sculpture. The 2D I found least aesthetically pleasing was the Flemish oil painting of Jan Eyck, Portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and Giovanna Genami. Although painted with an astonishing level of realism, his use of proportion when painting the hands is disproportionally small and seem flattened. This illustrates how marriage back then did not require the presence of a priest or minister. The 3D German gothic Pieta made from polychromed wood was a disturbing sculpture. The heads of the Virgin Mary and Jesus are larger than their bodies. Anatomical details are exaggerated to emphasize the suffering Jesus endured. Repetition within the sculpture takes form in the flowers of the pedestal in which the Virgin Mary sits. These flowers contrast with the gruesome blood pouring from the body of Jesus. Overall this sculpture lacks color and looks like it has a rough texture. These artworks all correlate to one another because they are within the 15th century ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The price we all pay when we take a method of transportation comes in two forms. The first form is time and the second is a monetary value. Henry Ford is one of the most significant people in American history because he revolutionized the automobileindustry in the United States, he revolutionized mass production and the assembly line, and he revolutionized the economy with production of the Model T. The main reason Ford paid his workers this wage was to be sure his employees could buy his product. If Ford were to never introduce this wage to his employees, they would not have been able to buy his cars. Known as the most dramatic event in the history of wages Henry Ford increased the wages to $5.00 and reduced the work day by 90 minutes (Dunn, et al.). • 21. Greek Myth And Play Oedipus The King Essay Throughout the movie Lone Star, the influence of the Greek myth and play Oedipus the King play an important role in the movie line. The influence that Oedipus has on the characters of Lone Star causes the movie to become a modern interpretation of Sophocles infamous play. Although the two are different and remain unique in their own regards, there are several key aspects that unite the movie and play. Without the presence of boundaries, the issue of relationships and the influence of lies and secrets on the characters and outlying communities Lone Star would not have connection to Oedipusthe King. An important theme to both Lone Star as well as Oedipus The Kingif that of boundaries. This can be viewed in both a geographical sense as well as a personal journey. Sam Deeds in Lone Star recently returned home to take up the post of his late father, the Sheriff of Rio County. The town, named Frontera, lies on the border of Texas and Mexico, causing border crossing to be an apparent theme in Sam s quest for justice. As Geoffrey W. Bakewell writes in his article Oedipus Tex: Lone Star, Tragedy and Postmodernism Boundaries are crucial: crossing them brings knowledge and exacts a price (39). • 22. Anderson Quillan Syndrome Essay Introduction Anderson Quillan Syndrome (AMS) is a rare disease with a prevalence rate of 300/100,000 as determined by a recent ecological study. There is speculation that AMS is a consequence of certain exposures, namely increased tea or chocolate consumption and smoking. There is a possible genetic link, but not all AMS patients exhibit this genetic risk. A case control study(CCS) is proposed in which AMS cases are compared to two control groups. Control group C1 are living genetically related family members of AMS patients and control group C2 is a more diverse cohort of non AMS subjects without known family history of AMS. The primary goal is to determine whether there is an association between the named exposures and AMS. The secondary goal is to determine whether the presence of a known family history of AMS is a confounder. Proposed Study Design Evaluating the association of a rare disease (Anderson Quillan Syndrome) and its multiple exposures, various study design could be utilised. Upon initial analysis, an experimental RCT would seem the most accurate and effective in temporal causal determination, but there are ethical concerns as subjects could be knowingly subjected to harmful exposures. Alternatively, cohort studies measure events in temporal sequence by incidence rates, but with limitations. Limitations include subject selection and loss to follow up biases, time (longer subjects follow up), increased resources required (larger samples, costs) and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, by taking a closer look at the modes of government, it is clear that many elements of democracy today were not present in society. Democracy is viewed very differently today than it was looked at in Greece, with the meaning of equality somehow changing over thousands of years. The ways that people participated and were represented in government has also changed, and does not show many aspects of today s democracy. With taking a closer look of the representation of ancient peoples, the role of women in ancient Greek society is also not substantial. Ancient Greecewas fairly democratic because of the connections that ancient Greek government has to governments around the globe today, the participation of the people, as well as the role women played. Today democracy is often known for letting everyone have a say in government and letting people choose who represents them or letting them represent themselves. Introduction / Background Enzymes are proteins that are in every living organism. Cells need them to survive and to function. Enzymes are catalysts that help to speed up the rate of reactions that otherwise would take longer periods of time to occur. However they do not change during the reaction. A chain of amino acids forms them. There are over a hundred different enzymes in the human body. Each enzyme is responsible for a certain reaction that occurs in the cell. For instance, the enzymes in our stomach cut food into small enough particles so it can be converted into energy, which our bodies will later use. Without enzymes human wouldn t be able to breathe, eat, drink or digest food. There are 3 main types of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, food enzymes and digestive enzymes. Metabolic enzymes exist throughout your whole body from your organs to your blood to inside your bones. This enzyme is essential for the growth of new cells and maintaining new tissue. Food enzymes exist in raw food. However if the raw food is cooked the high temperature that is involved in cooking the food will destroy the enzyme. The organs in our bodies make digestive enzymes. This enzyme plays a major role in digestion. When we eat raw food we don t need additional enzymes because the raw food already contains them. In the eyes of Lu Xun, the madman is the hero who plays a better role in the society because only the madman knows the truth and can rise in rebellion. Assessment: Telogen effluvium (704.02) Hair loss is classified into 3 classifications, cicatricial alopecia (inflammatory), nonscarring alopecia and inherited and acquired structural hair disorders. In evaluating hair loss it is important to assess duration and rate, location and pattern, extent of loss, associated symptoms, hair care practices, and differentiation of hair shedding from breakage. Medical and family history, diet, and medications need to be assessed (Shapiro, Otberg, Hordinsky, 2013). Telogen effluvium is diffuse hair loss that is reversible caused by a significant stressor such as significant weight loss, pregnancy, major illness or surgery (Goldstein Goldstein, 2012). As the patient has lost 50 pound in 10 months, this is the most likely cause of her diffuse hair loss. She will stop her very low carbohydrate diet for a more moderate, varied diet. If the hair loss continues she will need further evaluation. Differential diagnosis 1.Endocrine related hair loss: Hair loss may be caused by several endocrine disorders, presentation is typically with non scarring alopecia that is diffuse (Olszewska, Warszawik, Rakowska, Slowinska, Rudnicka, 2011). Hypopituitarism, not assessed, needs serum cortisol (Synder, 2012), will order if symptoms continue. Hypothyroidism, ruled out, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Topology, Infrastructure, And Network Topology Infrastructure While category 5 enhanced (CAT 5e) is the current standard for network connections, the ABC Company is looking to expand in the future. With this in mind, category 6 enhanced (CAT 6e) is recommended for the proposed cabling infrastructure. While CAT 5e provides good electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection, it only has a limit of 1 gigabit transmission speed. CAT 6e, provides EMI protection also, but has the capability of up to 10 gigabit transmission between clients and servers. Because of how quickly networking technology advances and equipment speed evolves, CAT 6e cabling would be the optimal choice for the growing ABC Company. To utilize CAT 6e cabling efficiently, proper network configuration and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each switch is interconnected via multimode fiber optics between the floors. In addition, one port per IDF will host an interconnected CAT 6e cable for redundancy in case the fiber optic cable becomes unserviceable; having both a fiber optic cable and a CAT 6e cabling interconnecting the network switches creates a fault tolerant network. Furthermore, to accommodate the transient nature of ABC Company s employees during their day to day operations, a wireless access point (WAP) will be installed centrally on each floor. Because of the location of each WAP, there is a chance of signal bleed over between floors. To mitigate this possibility, each floor will have a non overlapping channel assigned to it; floor one will use channel 1, floor two will utilize channel 6, and floor three will employ channel 11. Furthermore, the antenna strength will be configured so there is minimal signal bleed over outside of the confines of the office while still having full connectivity within the confines of the building. With this wireless architecture, employees can move from floor to floor and maintain network connectivity without co channel interference from channel bleed over. When employees are traveling, the implementation of terminal access controller access control system plus (TACACS+) servers will allow remote access via a virtual private network (VPN). It was a struggle that directly affected almost every American living during those turbulent years. Visit any small southern town s local cemeteries and you will most likely find graves decorated with confederate flags in honor of those who served the Confederacy. National battlefields and parks set aside to preserve lands so many fought and died on can be found in every state that engaged in the great struggle. How so many young Americans found themselves caught up in the violent divide which gripped the country is the question that seems to consume the United States even today. • 43. Subsistence Agriculture vs. Industrial-Style Animal Farming Contrast subsistence agriculture and industrial style animal farming. Subsistence farming is the most basic of farming methods where a small plot of land is cultivated by an individual, a family or a community just to feed their hungry mouths. All the produce is consumed by the family and not intended for sale outside. The experts believe that this kind of farming is almost primeval and needs to change quickly to the industrialized mode all over the world, if abject poverty and famine are to be eradicated. Several factors have worked against the success of implementation, and they are not only technology related, but social, educational, economic, and political, as well. Many feminist voices have however, preferred to support the existing method of subsistence farming for the harmony and relationship that it fostered among the people, with an argument that human relationships, ecology and togetherness are more important than wealth (Shiva, 1989). In this perspective, subsistence farming does not contribute to economic growth or capital accumulation or even labor specialization. Since funds are limited to buy chemical fertilizers, most produce are organic and genetically modified seeds are never used here (Roosevelt, 2007, Wright, 2007). You will learn from history that subsistence farming existed in Southeast Asia, Sub Saharan Africa, South and Central America. Over the years; take the example of British colonized Kenya. • 44. Robert Frost Imagery Robert Frost is an English poet who wrote several poems during the 1900 s. His poems include The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is literally about a person who stops in the woods on the night of December 21st or the winter solstice. The owner of the woods lives in the village so he will not see the speaker. When the speaker stops and looks into the woods, his horse shakes his bells. However, the speaker wants to stay in the woods, but he has miles to ride before he can go to sleep. Through his use of imagery, figure of speech, and sound effects, Frost illustrates the influences of life and death in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Frost uses several images to portray the ideas of life and death. For example, Frost writes to watch his woods fill up with snow (Frost l. 4). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this poem, the rhyme scheme AABA remains constant for the first three stanzas. In the fourth stanza, the rhyme scheme changes from AABA to AABB. The last line is repeated. Frost, wants the reader to understand the importance of miles to go before I sleep . Frost repeats this line of poetry because he wants the reader to see that people must fulfill their responsibilities before they die. In this line, miles mean years, and sleep means death. The speaker has more years to live before he dies. Another example of sound effects is Frost s use of alliteration in the form of only other and sound s the sweep (Frost l. 11) in the line the only other sound s the sweep/ of easy wind and downy flake (Frost ll. 11 12). This line is very soothing to the reader and implies that death is silent. Then Frost adds of easy wind and downy flake (Frist l.12). This sound effect is assonance, as one can hear the breeze of the wind and the snow falling to the ground. These two sounds represent the ideas of death slowly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In her introduction she begins doings critical things, that we have previously discussed in class. She gives the reader an operational definition of segregation. When black people get to this stage they tend to idealize everything that is considered to be part of Black culture and to denigrate everything considered part of White culture (Gilbert et al., page 112). The final stage is Internalization, which occurs when individuals are committed to their socio racial group. This is sharp contract to black students enrolled at Primarily white schools, who faced racial stressors, which resulted in detrimental psychological consequences. • 46. The Effects Of Stress On Our Lives ROUGH DRAFT Brenna Lawrason #5687561 Stress is something that people are experiencing everyday based off things occurring in our everyday lives. Stress is different for everyone depending on what kind of situation it is brought upon which could vary from school work, family issues, personal problems etc. The questionnaires entitled Social Readjustment Scale (Miller Rahe, 1997) and the Lifestyle and Habits Questionnaire (Dinzeo, T.J., Thayasivam, U., Sledjeski, E.M., 2014) to determine what leads to high stress levels in our lives. • 47. The As A Tyrant Who Held A Reign Of Terror There s always something watching over everyone, seeing the unprincipled and unscrupulous mistakes, flaws, sins, and immorality. It s easy to try and escape judgment and punishment for one s sins, but it will all come back to them in due time. Karma is prevalent in numerous religions and candidly means good actions reap rewards, whereas malevolent actions result in future suffering and problems. Historically speaking, there have been many cases where unscrupulous actions have come back to bite. Maximilien de Robespierre became a tyrant who held a reign of terror , guillotining extravagant amounts of people, many of them being innocent. Ironically enough he was killed via guillotine. Diane de Poitiers held an affair with King Henry II of France for many years until his death. Because of that she was sent into exile after Henry s death by his wife, Catherine de Medici. Some may call these coincidences and whether one believes in karma or not does not matter, as there are always consequences for one s actions. People can slowly lose themselves once they get caught up in an aristocratic society filled with money, lust, and glory. In The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, the eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckleburg within the Valley of Ashes are symbolic as to how the characters deteriorate in the wasteland of a society made up of gentry. The valley of ashes is representative of the destroyed and decayed nobility. The valley of ashes is a place that at one point was in an at least ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Nurture Nature Vs Nature The debate between nature and nurture addresses genetic and environmental determinants and which principles apply to our lives. Humans are affected by choices made by others and ourselves and things that are meant to happen. Free will is being able to make a choice to do something on our own or to act in certain situations independently of natural, social, or divine restraints (Encyclopedia Britannica). Social cues are verbal or nonverbal hints that are meant to guide peers about their actions, the conversation they re having, etc.. Determinismis the belief that everything is naturally connected to the universe and every event happens because of the events that came before it. Fatalism follows the belief that events occur naturally, but without influence of humans. Nurture is a greater influences on our lives than nature; humans operate upon the principles of free will, social cues, and determinism. Determinism supports the idea that our outcomes are based on our choices and that they are meant to happen that way. An example of one s deterministic view is Brent Staples describing the ways he unintentionally frightened those around him in public and he would go out of his way to make them feel safer. It s unfair that an accomplished college graduate should be judged for their appearance, as well as anyone else for that matter. Staples had no obligation to act the way he did, but in order to keep himself safe, he could not pose a threat and get away with it as a black ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
