Culture Of Japan Culture
Modern day Japan s culture is mainly like the the U.S. in many ways for example some of there
music is called J Pop which is like our modern day Music the also goes by Pop some J Pop
singers will include Ayumi Hamasaki and many others. In the us pop singers will be noticed by
the name of Taylor Swift or Katy Perry. Even though Japan tries to modernize themselves ads
best as the could the still use their language that they used long ago. They still have their ancient
furniture that their great grandparents used before their time time of existence but it is mainly
used for decoration. Japan culture is like many other Asian culture such as using chopsticks and
their religious beliefs nut is is also different in many ways. For example Japan just like China are
very religious which is caused by Japan absorbing the word of there god through Korea and
China. That lead to going a long time isolated from the outside world. There main two religions
were Shinto and Buddhism. Both religions were brought to Japan by other countries but
Buddhism is practiced more because it was brought to Japan first and it is still practiced to this
day. The Japanese culture to this day still believes in giving their kids the best lunch as possible
for example schools will serve a doe based bread covered in egg and cinnamon and the kids love it
this dish is called nostalgic or sweet bread in english. Japan schools take learning just as serious as
they do lunch Japan has the highest children suicide

Ben Carson Writing Prompts
Ben Carson made things easier in his life by a formula called THINK BIG. Each one of those
letters mean something. There was three important letters that stood out to me. The most
important letters that stood out to me were H for honesty, N for nice, and K for knowledge. The
first important letter was H. If everybody had honesty, then the world would be so much better.
Honesty can help achieve goals in many different ways. One way is if you tell people what
happened and not lie about it then maybe they could not be mad and help you. I can use this in
my life to make my home life easier by not lying to my mom or sister. Honesty makes you a better
person. It will help you achieve goals faster and cleaner. The second important letter was

The State Of Emergency And Urban Californians
Introduction
In 2012 and 2013 Klamath County on the Southern Oregon border declared a drought in April,
after a string of fortunate years of heavy rain and snow. In 2014, a drought emergency was
declared in February, two months earlier than in 2013, and in 2015 drought was again declared for
the county in April( United State Geological Survey 2015). These successive drought declarations
are not surprising to anyone who was following the Western water crisis during those years, where
the governor of California declared a state of emergency and urban Californians were mandated to
find ways to cut their water consumption drastically . In 2012, 10,000 avian mortalities were
reported in the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges because of the shut off of water
facilities that support wetland habitat for migratory species (Learn 2012.) During those dry
years, an article titled Birds are Dying As Drought Ravages Avian Highways ran in National
Geographic, featuring Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge and putting the struggle of its
bird species in a regional context, as long distance flyers found fewer and fewer refuges with the
water resources to maintain them( Kay 2015). It was these shocking statistics that first attracted
me, as a birder, to the basin as an area of study. However, as I began to wade into the history of
the basin and its complicated local politics, I soon realized that I could not disentangle the issues
experienced by wildlife and wildlife managers in the

The Principle Of Conducting Research
The principle of conducting research is sprouting and growing, which it has turned out to be a
important skill in today s modern world. A main importance of nursing is to deliver patients with
high quality and excellent service and care. It has concluded and established that lack of research
in clinical practice is merely a practice without validation. Researchis dynamic and a vital
component used in appraising the efficiency and efficacy of modalities in nursing treatments and
also to examining the outcome of nursing care on a patient s health. In a situation when challenges
and changes occur in nursing practices, thus research needs to be conducted in order to address
these needs or challenges.
Quantitative research is a recognized, official, objective, rigorous, systematic process for creating
statistical information and data about the nation. Quantitative research is conducted to define new
circumstances, procedures, impression or ideas; test the relationships among variables; and to
determine and conclude the effectiveness and efficacy of treatments in the whole world (Burns,
2011). Qualitative research is a systematic, subjective approach used to describe life experiences
and give them meaning. Qualitative research is not a new idea in the social or behavioral sciences
(Burns, 2011). Qualitative research consists of a detailed, thorough and complete description of
circumstances or events whereas quantitative research is the approach in attempts to describe these

Four Unifying Principles
UNIFYING PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND MANAGEMENT
ABSTRACT Theories and models of organizational behavior and management continue to increase
in number and complexity. While much of the recent research has not made its way into standard
business textbooks, these textbooks nonetheless offer a broad array of topics and concepts that can
easily overwhelm both student and practitioner. No common thread appears to link these disparate
topics, despite the fact that variations on the same theory often can be found across topics. This
paper describes four underlying principles of organizational behavior and management that distill
and synthesize essential features of many of the established theories and models. Each principle ...

The concepts related to each principle can be viewed, alternatively, as dichotomous (a choice among
opposites), continuous (a point along a continuum), or paradoxical (a contradiction or dialectic to
be resolved), and applied in combination to interpret and circumscribe specific theories. Finally, the
implications of these underlying principles for teaching management and organizational behavior
as well as for conducting organizational and case analyses are discussed.
THE UNIFYING PRINCIPLES There are four unifying principles presented in this paper, each
principle represented by two contrasting concepts. The principles are briefly described below, and
the application of each principle to organizational behavior and management is illustrated through
several examples. The intent of these examples is to demonstrate the range of applications for each
principle, rather than to provide an exhaustive analysis. (A more complete set of applications is
available from the author.)
INDIVIDUAL VS. COLLECTIVE
Description of the Principle
Perhaps no concepts are more central to our understanding of organizations and management than
those of the individual versus the collective. In a generic sense, the term individual means singular,
solitary, one, alone, separate, while the term collective means many, multiple, together, gathered,
joint. In human terms, these two words represent the

As the Director of LINC, I led the team that verified the accuracy of burial and headstone placement
through inspection for each gravesite using the cemetery layout maps, historical burial records, and
printout from the Burial Operations Support System (BOSS). In doing so guided my senior staff
through conducting a grave by grave, 100% assessment of the entire cemetery. My challenge was to
coordinate and record the correction of these sensitive discrepancies. The corrective measures
required family notification, the disinterment, and re interment of remains with burials dating back

The Relationship Between Warm Colors and Positive Mood
This research is important because every day we have to make choices that include choosing a
color when for example we decide what shade of makeup to use, what color of clothes to buy or
decide what color to paint a wall. Even it has been proved that people often associate their mood
with a specific color. Some frequently responses when a person is feeling sad is to describe it as
feeling blue or when a person fall in love is common to hear that now this person view the world
through rose colored glasses. Other frequently expressions are to describe a person s jealousy as to
be greenwith envy, or describe a child s innocence as to be pure as the snow . The purpose of this
study is to examine the effect of color with mood using a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Author David Simmons studied color effects more generally in his book, Color and emotion: New
directions in color studies. Simmons conducted a lot of experiments trying to prove that color can
enhance positive moods. In one of his experiments he asked 56 undergraduate psychology students
to paint a white wall with a color that made them to feel positive. The results indicated that yellow,
orange and red were picked as the most positive color of the 9 color samples in total.
Jacob and Suess (1975) disagree with the general theory that warm colors are more appealing
and tend to enhance positive mood. They found that participants shown a more positive mood
towards cool colors rather than warm colors. In his article, Effects of four psychological primary
colors on anxiety state; Perceptual and motor skills, states that previous studies may have
overlooked the effects of colors on standard pencil and paper measures of anxiety. He
investigated the effects of primary colors such as: red, yellow, blue and green and the level of
anxiety of the participants. The researcher administered the state scale of the State Trait Anxiety
Inventory to 40 participants. After reviewing the results he found that colors red and yellow were
associated with high levels of anxiety by the participants. On the other hand, color green was
described as calming and associated with low levels of anxiety by the participants.

Role Of The Servant As A Leader
Organisational behaviour indicates to the approach of associations among individuals and meetings
inside a firm. For a successful enterprise it is indispensable to have ethical behaviour, organised and
systematic performances of the organisational citizens. Moreover, it is also important to have
healthy relationships as well as no inequalities of root and foundation in an organisation. Leadership
refers to the procedure of communal impact that works to enhance strives of others in quest of
mutual objective. A few pioneers impact others to submit activities that are not for more prominent
benefit, but rather nobody can deny that they have driven those others. Leadership is more

Organisational citizenship behaviour may not generally be straightforwardly and formally
perceived or compensated by the organization through compensation, expansions or advancements
for instance, however organisational citizenship behaviour might be reflected in good chief and
associate evaluations, or better execution examinations. Along these lines it can encourage future
prize pick up in an indirect way (Zhang.2011). Greenleaf (2002 as cited in Spears 2010) observed
the qualities of servant leadership for the successful run of the organisation, the servant leader
should have the characteristics such as listening, awareness, empathy, stewardship, commitment to
the growth of people. Firstly, listening as a quality of a good servant leader means that they
should have good communication skills and decision making skills only than they are able to
have a successful organisation. If a servant leader doesn t have good listening skills or he may not
listen to his workers than it will adversely impact the organisation. The workers will feel
demotivated which will result into bad work behaviour in an organisation. The servant leader
recognises the determination of the clusters and illuminates that determination (Spears,2010).
Secondly, awareness as a feature of servant leadership is when the servant leader in general is

Sir Robert Peel s Nine Principals
In this paper, I will consider Sir Robert Peel s nine principals and how they stand in our society
today. I will explore how well police departments follow the principals today, or attempt to
determine whether one or more have fallen out of favor. Perhaps a principal is not even relevant in
today s society. The structure of this paper will be similar to The Commentaries on the Dhamapada,
in that I will list the principal and then proceed to offer my thoughts.
A few quick notes: Having lived all my life in Seattle, I have limited direct experience with the
multitude of police departments in America. However, as a (somewhat) educated individual who

Peel, and the British Parliament, would not accept use of the military as a suitable method of
protecting London streets. As the first police chief in the city of London, Peel sought to establish a
social control mechanism with the strength and discipline of the military, but the heart of the
public. In other words, Peel wanted to create a police force that would work with and assist the
public in preventing crime. The police cannot be a military, but according to Peel, they should have
characteristics (uniform or ranks) and the discipline that is found in the military.
1st Peelian Principal : (police exist) To prevent crime and disorder, as an alternative to the
repression by military force and severity of legal punishment. The first principal establishes the
mission of any police department: to prevent crime and disorder. However, the police are not the
military, or any other type of occupying force. Sadly, many departments forget this fact and adopt
a corrosive mentality which believes that it is the police vs society. The repercussions of this idea
are severe. Police will treat citizens as threats rather than people. Police will be quick to respond
with excessive force. Police will purchase military vehicles to protect themselves from these threats.

911 First Responders
This paper is for the people that seem to do great things for the community, but receive such little
recognition in return. 911 first responders (dispatchers, Firefighters, police officers, etc.) is the
epitome of a lifesaver . These people choose to risk their lives and give up time with their family
to save yours. Yet, believe it or not they receive little compensation for the work they do. Having
personal experience in the matter as my mother is a 911 dispatcher. Not only does the job take a toll
on these people financially, but also their physical and mental health are at risk. As we should
make sure that the people that selflessly care about our well being be taken care of. Most people

Explain The Essence Of Homeostasis
1. Explain the essence of homeostasis. Why is it crucial for the bodily systems to maintain
homeostasis? Homeostasis is the property of a system where the variable which could be a
substance or temperature, is active and regulated to always remain constant. This regulation
occurs inside a defined environment. A primary example is a humans body temperature. It is
crucial for the bodily systems to maintain homeostasis because that is how cells and organs
function properly. A primary example is when people die from extreme conditions, such as,
freezing to death or dying from over heating. The body has to keep up to keep everything at
equilibrium. 2. Why one of the risks of diabetes mellitusis the diabetic coma, which results when...

Super low blood sugar is the most common cause of a diabetic coma. Diabetic ketoacidosis is
when your body uses fat instead of glucose for energy as a result of insufficient insulin. Ketone
bodies accumulate in the bloodstream and diabetic ketoacidosis occurs in both types of diabetes
but mostly common in Type 1. So it s best to not have an accumulation of ketone bodies to avoid
a diabetic coma. In type 2 diabetes there is diabetic hyperosmolar syndrome. This type of diabetes
is most common with older adults. The result of this condition is having increased levels of blood
sugar. 3. Describe these hormone actions of all calcium level regulating hormones as
physiological reflex pathways, identifying the stimulus, integrating center, efferent pathway, and
response. The parathyroid hormone (PTH), secreted by the parathyroid glands, is responsible for
regulating blood calcium levels; it is released whenever blood calcium levels are low. PTH
increases blood calcium levels by stimulating osteoclasts, which break down bone to release
calcium into the blood stream. PTH increases blood calcium levels by increasing the amount of
calcium resorbed by the kidneys before it can be excreted in the urine. PTH increases blood calcium
levels by triggering the formation of calcitriol, which increases absorption of dietary calcium
through the intestines. Calcitonin, a hormone produced by the thyroid, acts in

The verbs the Magistrate uses to describe his own actions towards the girl in the selected
passage, such as prowl, hunt, and even seeking create an image of a furtive predator rather than
a lover. This is a manifestation of the guilt he feels for his part in her injuries. But we do not get
a real sense of threat or danger from the Magistrate because he states that this hunter is non
invasive: he does not enter her and has no urge to do so. Even the phrases touching her face, and
caressing her body, which normally would invoke intimacy, when put in the context of prowling
give the impression of a hunter thoroughly examining the pelt of its prey. It is easy to make the
connection between this image and the image of the Magistrate examining the barbarian girl s
broken ankles and scars. Joll and the accomplice torturers are also referred to as hunting the girl;
while Joll was aggressively searching for a secret he never found, the Magistrate hunts for how to
figure her out and enter her surface, which he also fails to find. However, they both hunt for some
sort of meaning from this girl, suggesting Joll s use of her is similar to the Magistrate s use for her.

(which turns out to be nonexistent information in the first place). However, he still hunts the truth

The Leatherback sea turtle being in the family of Dermochelyidae is a very unique type of sea
turtle out of the 7 8 species that there are (Foster). Leatherback Sea Turtles are the largest of the
species of sea turtles alive today. They are found in oceans all around the world and are known
to travel large distances throughout their lives ( Leatherback Sea Turtle Facts For Kids, With

being between the ages of 8 and 15 years of age , and after mating only the females come ashore
to lay their eggs (World, Seaturtle. Leatherback Sea Turtle. ). This routine takes place during the
night, and during this time the female sea turtle excavates a hole in the sand, depositing around 80
eggs, filling the nest, leaving a large, disturbed area of sand that makes detection by predators
difficult, and finally returning to the sea ( Leatherback Nat). The sex of the egg is determined by

The Burning Of Our House Analysis
There is a definite distinction between American literature written during the Colonial times and
literature written after the colonization of America. Colonial American literature was written by
American authors who were experiencing something completely new and different to them. They
had never been colonists or traitors to their mother country, Great Britain, before and this showed in
their literature. One prominent theme throughout Colonial literature is the importance of God.
Puritanauthor, Anne Bradstreet, made this apparent in her poem, The Burning of Our House.
Instead of feeling the emotions of anger and sadness due to the fact all of her belongings were
destroyed, she looked at the fire as a sign from God that he was taking his possessions that were
rightfully his. Colonial literature is rich in Puritan voices and, consequently, Puritan beliefs.
Persuasive rhetoric is apparent throughout much of Colonial literature. America was a blank slate
for them and colonists wanted to fill that slate with the government they thought best fit their ideals.
Writers were able to freely... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

himself/herself an American should read Colonial literature. This writing shows how important
religion was to the settlers, as well as showcases the variety of points of views that people held.
Topics that range from women s place in society to construction of government to the importance
of God are easily identifiable in prose during this time. This shows how diverse and freethinking
colonists were. Colonial writers used writing as a platform to cast their ideas into the limelight.

Everyone is told at a very young age that they can be whatever they want to be. But is this really
true? In our day and age, with technology advancing daily, many young people find that it isn t as
easy to follow one s dreams as is portrayed in fairy tales. October Sky is like these books, as it
shows boys following their dreams by creating homemade rockets. But what makes this seemingly
unrealistic book stand out from the rest is its ability to inspire. This book intrigues the reader and
draws them in as it shows the characters as they learn. As a true story, the author Homer Hickam
writes about himself as the main character in the story of his life. He writes about his group of
friends as they come together and decide to create rockets.

Lotus Bassinet Research Paper
Lotus Bassinet Review If you have been searching the web for baby products that you can fall in
love with, chances are good you have seen the Lotus Travel Crib and other products. The reason
for this is simple. Lotus designs items that make it easy to travel with a little one. It does not
matter whether you are traveling to Grandma s house or across the country to stay in a motel on
vacation. Unsure if you should consider it? Check out our Lotus Bassinet review to find out
more about this extremely versatile brand of bassinets, play yards, and travel cribs. The
Difference Between Lotus and Other Cribs/Bassinets/Playards Most bassinets are too bulky to
be easy to carry along on adventures outside of the home. Most of them do not fold up or fit
inside of a storage container the way that the Lotus does. Travel cribs are still rather large cribs
that are difficult to carry if you must travel via a plane. Playards are the same way. Many of
them are playpens that are designed in a way that allows them to fold up flat, but not fold up
small. Lotus products fold up small. They are designed for traveling, but they are comfortable
enough to allow you to use them without worry when at home. The Guava family Lotus crib folds
up small enough to be carried in a large shoebox if you are going to choose the bassinet style crib....

The French Revolution of 1789 Essay
There is no doubt that the French Revolution has had a profound effect on the world. The cause or
causes of it have been greatly disputed. Clearly the Revolution s primary cause was the presence of
a weak monarchy and a lack of a stable system of government. France s absolute monarchy had
many changes toward the end of the eighteenth century. King Louis XVI, in his attempts to
consolidate his authority and lessen the power of the aristocrats, had planned out an intendant
system. The intendants were like governors. They would oversee one constituency of the country.
These intendants could not govern the region in which they lived, and were chosen from other than
the aristocracy. This insured that their allegiance was pledged to the king and... Show more content

There were three divisions or classes in France called estates. The first estate, which was
composed of church officials, had immense authority and obtained enormous salaries. Church
officials obtained their salaries via taxes collected from church property. Therefore, since the
officials received their salaries from the church property, they did not have to pay taxes. The
second estate was composed mainly of nobility. They, too, were exempt from paying taxes. This
left the entire tax burden upon the third estate. The third estate consisted of some merchants and
entrepreneurs; however, the majorities were peasants. Corruption of the estates was causing
much frustration among the common people who composed 70 percent of the population. The
monarchy tried to make an attempt to give the third estate power by establishing the Estate s
General, but this too was corrupted. Unlike most legislative bodies, the Estate s General did not
vote by each person having a single vote. Rather, they let each estate have one vote each. Since
the first two estates were always in agreement, the third estate was always out voted. This is a
prime example of how the lack of a stable government had an immensely tragic effect on the
people of the country. If the monarchy had tried to make some reform or if Louis XVI had more
backbone to institute some tax reform to lessen the burden on the third estate, the Revolution may
have been avoided. The government is the backbone of any

Iraq Resolution Research Paper
On September 11th, 2001, a series of terrorist attacks orchestrated by the terrorist group al Qaeda
saw the death of almost 3,000 individuals alongside +6,000 injured people. In addition, this event
caused over 10 billion infrastructure damage and $3 trillion in total costs (Carter). Despite 15 of the

Over 189,000 Iraqis died directly from this conflict (Ingersoll). This is a sharp contrast
compared to the casualties that the Americans faced. Of the 1.5 million Americans that served
in Iraq between 2003 and 2011, more than 30,000 troops were wounded during the conflict and
additional 4,500 were killed in action (Koroma). As many critics of the Iraq War have pointed

Robert Frost s Life Through Poetry
March 23, 2016
Robert Frost Reflects Life Through Poetry
It is easy to express your emotions, and feelings through poetry. Which is exactly what Robert Frost
has done through his entire career. Each poem Robert Frost has written, has meaning behind it all.
He has gone through an extreme amount of events, and tragedies in his life. Frost has been through
an unimaginable amount of losses, deaths, and loneliness throughout his years. Throughout his life
his poetry has had a huge impact on him, the situations and losses, and emotions he had
encountered in his life were expressed and showed throughout his poetry.
Robert had suffered from emotional and physical abuse throughout his childhood, which had
caused him to live his life being apprehensive, and afraid. Even though these things had caused
him to be emotionally unstable, and leave him fearful for his entire life; they had also allowed
him to be one of the most incredible poets in history. Frost s father was an alcoholic who had
anger issues as well, one time he had whipped young Roberts s legs repeatedly with a dog chain
(Postema, 160). Frost was born in San Francisco, where he had lived for 11 years, until his father
had passed away due to Tuberculosis in 1885. After his father s passing, himself, his mother and
his sister Jeanie had moved to Eastern Massachusetts. Isabelle Frost (Robert s mother), had helped
her family by getting a job to be a teacher, which allowed her to continue teaching and

Presidents Of The Great Presidents
Historian Arthur Schlesinger said the team Imperial Presidency is when a president uses more
power than the Constitution allows, and were able to avoid the checks and balances of our
constitutional system. In this paper, I am going to explore three presidents who many feel were
imperial presidents. While doing the research I was surprised how many great presidents had
people make a case that they were an imperial president. For example, I read many articles about
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln running imperial presidency. Abraham Lincoln is widely
considered one of our greatest presidents. The three presidents that I am going to focus my paper
on are Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and George W. Bush. Lyndon Johnson took over as
President when John F. Kennedy was assassinated on a hot Dallas day. Many feel that the
government acted quickly after JFK was pronounced dead to move on actions that JFK was not
going to do in his presidency. Johnson sent over 22,000 troops to the Dominican Republic in 1965
without the approval of congress (Schlesinge, 1973). Johnson also sent combat troops in Vietnam.
People still have a bad taste in their mouth over the debacle in Vietnam. Vietnam ranks 4th among
all wars in troop casualties and was a war that lead people to flee the country because they did not
want to fight and did not believe the war was just. Congress required 48 hours notice when a
president wants to send troops to another country and Lyndon Johnson did

The Inauguration of the New Acropolis Museum
The New Acropolis Museum was inaugurated in the year 2009, near the base of the Acropolis
with a view of the Parthenon. The museum was a facility of around 226,000 square feet of glass
and concrete, which cost $200 million dollars. The design was introduced in 2001, so it could
be completed in time for the Olympics in 2004. This goal was unsuccessful due to legal battles
that delayed the construction process for years said The New York Times. Since the museum
opened it is running strong with an average of 5 million visitors per year, coming to see all the
different collections. The museum is broken into three floors, offering different historical artwork.
The first floor is divided into two sections, one from the archaic period and the other from
Propylaia with objects that date around the classical time period to antiquity. On the first floor the
visitors are greeted by magnificent sculptures of the first temples on the Acropolis. Displayed here
also are votive offerings from worshippers. Some of these offerings include the archaic Korai, the
Hippeis, statues of Athena the goddess, Sculptures of male figures, marble reliefs, and smaller
bronze and clay offerings. The Acropolis Museumwants to conduct research on this small
collection of archaic statues, which keep their color. In figure #1 I present the archaic Korai,
which is white skinned and expresses grace radiance youth. As opposed to the brown skinned

Stay At Home Mom Vs Working Mom Summary
Dr. Phil is the author of the article titled Stay at Home Moms vs. Working Moms on the Dr. Phil
website. The idea of women becoming an active member of the workforce has been quite an issue
for a long time. Before proper child care in the past, there was even a study conducted on children
with working moms to determine the negative impacts mothers in the workforce had on their
children, and they concluded with quite a bit of data. However, this article mentions a new recent
study in which they determined that maternal employment has no detrimental impacts on children.
The author s perspective is obviously in favour of women having the right to work outside of the

People may say that an early relationship must be developed between children and their parents
for proper development, but in the article Dr. Phil argues, children who are in quality day care
have increases in cognitive skills, intellect, social skills and social comfort (Mcgraw 2003). I
agree with what he says since child care services allow children to interact with other children
around their age, allowing them to develop good social skills. Since in the present day, we have
good quality child care services, it s safe to assume that working moms could lead to the greater
good. Next, since the dominant male already plays the role of a provider in the family, sharing this
role with the woman in the family will lower the burden of family responsibilities on both the
husband and the wife. Having two members of the family work will not only benefit the economy,
it will also stabilize the family financially and it will allow the children to spend more time with
their father which they wouldn t have if the father was working all day. Since working mothers
leads to such a great benefit financially and economically, I agree with the author on his perspective

Disadvantages Of Inflatable Kayak
A short list of common accessories would probably include such things as rod holders, tackle box
mountings and compartments, bait containers, and a wide variety of electronics such as fish
finders, GPS, cell phone holders, marine radios, air pumps for bait tanks and running lights.
Obviously, it is not advised to drill holes into an inflatable kayak! However, many enterprising DIY
riggers have found that a few plastic D rings and some duct tape will make a handy group of
mounting and attachment points on an inflatable kayak. One of the latest and greatest discoveries
among self rigging enthusiasts is that a heavy duty plastic cutting board, normally for kitchen

Their light weight not only makes taking them along on a hike a definite plus, but also makes a
nice difference in getting the kayak out of your vehicle and to the shoreline even when you are
able to drive right up to the launch. On average, an inflatable kayak will weigh about half that of
a similar sized rigid kayak. Even many tandem inflatable kayaks weight less than single rigid
kayaks. There is no need for a trailer or roof rack, since they easily will fit into the trunk of even
a compact car, or into the back seat. This ability to fit into a small space adds another big benefit,
storage of your kayak in the off season. While storing your rigid kayak in the winter months
usually means either having sufficient garage space, a storage building, or an outside rack or
cradle of some kind, a deflated kayak will usually need no more storage space than that of a
cooler. Finally there is the price consideration. Inflatable kayaks are generally about half the cost
of a similar sized rigid model. The additional savings of not having to also purchase a roof rack or
trailer has influenced many fishermen to become kayak fishermen when price is their main

Ordinary Life In Man s Search For Meaning

story as a paper in which he shares his contentions and examination as a specialist and therapist
and also a previous detainee. This paper will audit Frankl s story and additionally his principle
contentions, and will assess the nature of Frankl s written work and spotlight on any regions of
shortcoming inside of the story. This area contains a rundown of Man s Search. Frankl starts his

The Film Frankie Alice Starring Halle Berry
IntroThe film Frankie Alice starring Halle Berry is based on a true story of a woman who is
living with a dissociative identity disorder. Set a number of years back (likely the 1970s or
1980s), this film provides the audience with a close up look at what it might be like to live with a
mental health disorder. While watching the film, I put a great deal of effort into understanding the
symptoms and episodes of the disorder, as the main character experienced them. Through my
findings, I have a greater understanding and appreciation not only of dissociative identity disorder
but also of mental health in general.
Mental Status exam diagnosis I would like to address each of the identities that appear in the
film so that I can go into more details about their traits as the paper progresses. The main
character or identity is Frankie who is an African American female in her early thirties who works

the very basic elements of her life such as questions about her work and her family. In this way,

In Porphyria s Lover the main theme is power. Browning leaves us clues about the theme
throughout the poem. To start with, when the speaker is describing the weather outside It tore
the elm tops down for spite, suggests how powerful the storm is. The whole poem the speaker is
fighting for power against Porphyria. At first he lets her keep all the power, but when she is not
expecting it, he kills her to gain full power over her. The speaker reduces Porphyria to an object,
a corpse that he could manipulate. Though in Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night the main
themes are mortality and transience. Thomas knows that death is inevitable but he wants his
father and all the elderly that are, close to death to fight it off for as long as possible. Thomas
conveys the theme of transience by comparing how good men s lives are flying by. Thomas
says, Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright / Their frail deeds might have danced in a

Similarities Between Walt Whitman And The Declaration Of...
In his canonical collection, Leaves of Grass, Walt Whitman creates a poetic persona that envisages a
particularly American brand of nationalism. Written almost a century after the instrumental
document of American republicanism; the Declaration of Independence (1776) was actualized;
Whitman s poems draw on some of its key tenets, mainly equality and liberty. Like the Declaration
of Independence, his poems perpetuate a framework of American democracyand the importance of
the democratic individual. However, unlike the Declaration of Independence, which puts forth a
politically and historically reactive American republicanism and identity, Whitman s poems seek to
mythologize America as inevitably, inherently and organically democratic. This paper... Show more

In the Poem of Many in One , Whitman proclaims that by great bards only can series of peoples
and States be fused into the compact organism of one nation (Whitman 6). His desire to promote
America as a body politic also responds to his employment of corporeal imagery in order to
perpetuate the understanding of the democratic process as inherent and organic as the law of
nature itself. Whitman also stresses the importance of the poet and the national poem as the main
driver of American nationalism. Whitman goes on to further delineate the inefficacy of
documents such as the Declaration of Independence in which only facts and arbitrary values are
accounted for and hence, are unable to provide the corporeal link between the political process
and nature or the way of life. He explores this in his poem where he recounts that to hold men
together by paper and seal, or by compulsion, is no account, that only holds men together which is
living principles, as the hold of the limbs of the body, or the fibres of plants. Whitman thus,
mythologizes a framework for democratic America by rewriting the reasons for its democratic
nature. Through an analysis of Whitman s poetry, it be seen that considered that the democratic
process is inherent, organic and comes from within the American body politic instead of a

My Journey To The World Essay
Gateway To The World
Traveling isn t in everyone s favor, but it sure is in mine. British novelist, Lawrence Durrell once
quoted, Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection. The reason I enjoy
traveling is because it takes me on a journey for finding my inner self. Before traveling, I ve
always been closed minded at how I viewed the world, but once I got a bigger look at how the
world works, my thoughts and I, myself have changed. It all begins on a sweltering day in
Schertz, Texas. My mom had received a phone call that was certain to come at some point. The
person on the other side of the phone informed her that we would have to travel to Turkey and
live there for 2 years. Since I was 5 years old at the time, I thought traveling to foreign countries
every now and then was normal for every family. There were trucks coming and going, suit case
zippers zipping, and chaos all around me. One month later, I m was on a plane headed to this
unknown country that was too far away for the impatient self that I am. Eager to march out of the
plane, I was at last at the final destination. As I looked around the AdanaAirport, people looked
different and their clothing was divergent as they wore dilapidated shirts and pants. Entering the
real world of Turkey, transportation mainly consisted of grimy metro buses and bikes. The
atmosphere smelled like thousands of Burger King Whoppers were trampled on with a side of six

Starting Off With The Gordon Growth Model
Starting off with the Gordon Growth Model was developed by Professor Myron Gordon of the
University of Toronto. It explains that if any investor is aware of the dividends handed out in a
year by any company, and at what rate that dividend will grow, the investor is able to determine
the actual value of the stock, which describes what the investor should pay at most for the
selected stock issued by the company. (Ozyasar, 2015) The Gordon Growth models inputs are
relatively easy to determine. The dividends can be found using any platform or the general news
(since they are announced publicly). The investor generally has an idea of the required return
he/she demands of a certain stock they are investing in i.e 12%. The problematic issue arises in
determining the rate at which a dividend will grow. This is determined through being able to
make assumptions on what product will grow in the market or in general which company will
grow, which usually makes final results inexact Ozyasar describes. The limitation of the Gordon
Growth Model arises when there is no constant growth rate on a stock dividend, which in reality
as Ozyasar describes is almost never the case. Despite these limitations the GGM is still a
powerful tool used by investors constantly to make decisions on what required return or growth
rate would they require for a stock to be favorable and from that an investor determines how to
move on with their portfolio. For example Michael Blair discussed the use of the

The term of organizational culture is defined as the whole of ideas, company mission, values,

In this assignment I want to explain the importance of the Accounting standards. As the world
economy is becoming integrated and globalization is becoming a universal phenomenon, more and
more businesses are getting out of the nationalistic perspective. Today one company have subsidiary

IFRS
International Accounting standards board (IASB) with its capable team of professionals issues
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in order to deal with the problem of asymmetric
information. The main purpose of standards is to provide information to the users as to the basis on
which the accounts have been prepared to bring about uniformity in financial reporting and to
ensure consistency in the data published by enterprises. The general idea is to harmonize
accounting standards around the world, however there are contrasting views on the subject.
With the rapid growth of international trade and internationalization of firms, the technological
advancements and the emergence of international competitive forces is perturbing the financial
environment largely. The businesses are badly in need of a common accounting language. A global
financial reporting system is a prerequisite for attracting foreign investors. People whose
investment grow internationally, want to be able to keep track of the financial health of the
securities issuers. Convergence of accounting standards can provide the means to do so. The focus
is on three factors:
Comparability
Transparency
Relevance
Controversies and Justification
The World Bank reports that integration with global capital markets can lead to disastrous effects,
without sound domestic financial systems and standards in place. However, harmonized accounting

Why NYU Thesis Statement
Why NYU? Two summers ago, I designed and executed my own experiments focused on cell
adhesion and its implications in the metastasis of cancer. When I fixed my cells for the first time
in the Dictyostelium Discoideum lab, I was scared. I was even more scared when I told my
mentor I bleached my cells with the spinning disk confocal microscope. However, it was through
the endless trials and errors that I discovered a love for biology and seeking answers to the
unknown. Through the College of Arts and Science at NYU, I hope to pursue a Global Public
Health/Science major concentrated in Genetics and Genomics. This past summer, I participated in
the Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science Program (MITES) at MIT, and I had the...

decision to apply to Barnard College and why do you think the College would be a good match
for you? (100 250 words) There s nothing a Barnard woman can t do. I hear microaggressions

insane, as it is implied that I should relinquish my aspirations of being a women in STEM to

Racial Disparities In Education
Racial disparities exist in every aspect of our society. It exists in religion, socioeconomic status,
life chances, media, etc. It affects everyone even if they realize or not. Education is one of the
things that are also affected by the racial stratification occurring in the United States. In this paper I
will look in to whether Tennessee is better or worse for educational advancement by comparing
four races and their high schoolgraduation rates on the national and state levels. The four races
used will be; Asian, Black, Hispanic/Latino, and White. I will then tie specific theories to why
these disparities may exist. This will hopefully give insight in to this touchy topic and provide a
starting point for correcting the gap. The data collected from the NCES and Tennessee state
report card provides empirical evidence that a racial gap does exist on the national and state
levels. I provided the data in two forms a graph and a table. The graph shows that Whites and
Asians are virtually almost the same on the state and national levels. The Blacks and Hispanic
/Latinos are much lower than the others. The Table provides the exact percentage on graduation by
racefor the state and national level. Asians had the highest graduation rate, followed by whites,
then Hispanics and Latinos, and ending with Blacks. On the state Level there is a 12.2 percent
difference between the groups with higher rates and those with lower. However, on the National
level there is a 15 percent

Roots of Anti-Semitism Essay
After learning about the Holocaust, I ve asked myself many times how this could have happened.
Why would anyone believe it s acceptable to massacre an entire people? This is my reasoning for
writing my paper on how Christian theology influenced anti Semitism. Much of the Holocaust
appears to have it s beginning with Christian theology. I will begin my paper with the early writings
of Christians and continue chronologically until after World War II.
The Apostle Paul was one the first people to criticize the Jewish people. At first, he tried to explain
to the Christians not to adopt a superior attitude towards the Jews.

scriptures. So sharp is the contrast in that gospel between Jesus exhortations to his followers to love
one another and the hostile references to the Jews...John is a gospel of Christian love and Jew

Some examples of John s apparent sentiments towards the Jewish people include the following.

Many scholars believe the Jews and Christians were still worshipping together around the middle
of the first century. They discussed and acknowledged their differences, like a family fight. Yet,
towards the end of the first century their relationships deteriorated. After the destruction of the
second Temple in 70 CE, the Gentiles appeared to break away from the Jews. Jewish leaders who

The 1960 Presidential Election
Kennedy is generally considered to have won the national popular vote by 112,827, a margin of
0.17% (although the unusual nature of the election in Alabama has caused some to question this
figure)[2] and though Nixon carried more individual states (26 to 22),[3] Kennedy won a 303 to
219 Electoral College victory.
The 1960 presidential election was the closest election since 1916, which can be explained by a
number of factors.[4] Kennedy benefited from the economic recession of 1957 58, which hurt the
standing of the incumbent Republican Party, and he had the advantage of 17 million more
registered Democrats than Republicans.[5] Furthermore, the new votes that Kennedy, the first
Roman Catholic president, gained among Catholics almost neutralized

Moreover, he did not even keep his drawers, but stripped himself stark naked before all the

Leprosy was thought to be caused by sin and gave those that it afflicted a horrifying appearance.
Lepers were only able to approach a town at night and they needed to ring a bell to warn others
of their presence. Lepers were major outcasts of Italian society, and even Francis himself was not
fond of lepers in his youth, but he learned to love them. His faith in God was so strong that when
he encountered a leper near Assisi, He leapt from his horse and ran to embrace him. When the
leper stretched forth his hand as though to receive an alms, he kissed it, and then put money
therein. The thought of kissing a leper was horrifying at the time, but this shows how Francis
loved all. Throughout his life he would continually visit the dwellings of lepers and provide
them with what little he had. He also would kiss both their hands and faces as well as bathe their
feet, bind their sores, and kiss their wounds. Francis ran counter to the norms of society as he
expressed no prejudices against the lepers. While many thought of outcasts and beggars as a
nuisance Francis believed that, The one who begs for the love of God must be, on the contrary, at

Concepts, Theories and Unknowns Aspects of Magnetism
Magnetism has long been one of the great mysteries of the world. It has gone for so long
unexplained and although there has been a lot of progress in figuring out how magnetism works
and what it s caused by, it still isn t completely understood. There are many theories about
magnetism, but there is still much more yet to be discovered about magnetism. In the future it will
probably be easily understood, but none the less intriguing.
Magnets have intrigued people for a long time; they were discovered long ago. Certain rocks and
ores of iron called lodestones were found. These lodestones which were naturally magnetic rocks
made of the mineral magnetite, were so mysterious to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lucretius (99 55 BC), a roman poet and philosopher, was one of the first to observe that a
loadstone or magnet stone could both attract and repel other magnets. For about thirteen hundred
years after Lucretius, scholars insisted that certain magnets possessed the property of attraction
while others possessed the property of repulsion. To their minds, it did not seem possible that the
same magnet could both attract and repel other magnets. Gradually it became evident that the two
ends, or poles of a magnet are unlike in certain respects. Roger Bacon (1210 1294), an English
philosopher and scientist pointed out that magnets could repel as well as attract other magnets.
In 1600, William Gilbert, an English doctor, proposed that the earth was like a giant magnet. He
had been experimenting with round pieces of magnetite and magnetized needles when he realized
that the magnetite was attracting the needles in a way similar to the earth s attraction of a compass
needle. William Gilbert was also the first to call the ends of the magnets poles.
William Gilbert s idea that the earth is a giant magnet turned out to be basically true. The earth is
thought to obtain its magnetism from electricity made by molten iron and nickel sliding around
inside it. The Earth s magnetism is centered at an area in northeastern Canada by the North Pole
(another center is by the South Pole). The needle of a compass points not to the top of the earth but
to the magnetic north pole

Le Morte Darthur, Gandalf And Merlin
In a 1967 essay, J. R. R. Tolkien said he saw Gandalf as an angelic being, given the form of an old
man to limit his powers on earth. He would never say the same of Merlin. While Tolkien drew
much inspiration from Arthurian legend, especially Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte Darthur,
Gandalf and Merlin are very different characters. Merlinis a man, one whose role in much of
Arthurian legend is as a loyal servant of the Kings of Camelot, willing to do anything to help them.
He also rarely performs serious acts of magic. Gandalf, on the other hand, is a warrior mage, an
immortal being sent to protect the people of Middle Earth. He displays a powerful use of magic as
well, and unlike Merlin, rallies the people of Middle Earth to his cause and gives... Show more

King Uther, whom Merlin serves, falls in love with Igraine, the wife of a neighboring duke, but
the duke refuses to allow Uther to have her, and Igraine is too loyal a woman to willingly
commit adultery. So, Merlin devises a plan, telling Uther, this night ye shall lie with Igraine . . .
and ye shall be like the duke her husband, Ulfias will be like Sir Brastias . . . and I will be like Sir
Jordanus (Le Morte, 5). Merlin had disguised the men so well that they took on the appearance
of other people, enough that Igraine believed Uthor was her husband. Merlin s greatest feats
usually involve shapeshifting and disguise, as well as perhaps prophecy. After Merlin comes to
Arthur in the guise of a child, and then an old man, to tell him about his parentage, he says, But I
ever ought to be heavy, for I shall die a shameful death, to be put in the earth quick, and ye shall
die a worshipful death (Le Morte, 23). This foreshadows Merlin s death at the hands of his
protГ©gГ© Nineve, and Arthur s death at the end of the book, and illustrates that Merlin has some
knowledge of the events in the future. He demonstrates this once again after subduing Sir Pellinore,
when he tells Arthur, And he shall tell you the name of your own son begotten of your sister that
shall be the destruction of all this realm (Le Morte, 29). Through his powers of foresight, Merlin
can pinpoint what will bring about the end of Camelot. Gandalf, although immortal and powerful,
rarely shows these powers of foresight. The future in Lord of the Rings is something that cannot be
known, only fought

Social Marketing
Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion industry I chose
to compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie Fitch, Forever 21, American Eagle, and H M. These
stores are prominent, well known for selling apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of
offering sales and promotions to their customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers,
allowing them to believe that they bought goods at affordable, convenient prices and not to mention
the prestigious name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main source, I
obtained relevant and valuable information regarding the status of these brands. My intentions
were to compare a period of 14 days, however, due to the limited access that I received from my
free trial, the program only allowed me to see fewer of the dates than I anticipated. I want to take
this opportunity and mention ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that
are sold from these stores, when looking for the spending capacity I decided to focus on shirts
/ jeans for men and women and compare the prices among them since each of these retailers carry
those items and as a way to make this report easier to contrast and comprehend. Also, when
approaching the section of setting , I screen shotted some of the images on Instagram and made
them into a collage to separate the type of clothes and trends that each of these brands sell currently.

Porgy And Bess Sparknotes
Porgy and Bess is a play written by three Caucasian men. The play was written in the 1920s 1930s.
Around this time racism was strong as ever. White people already didn t think much of us. It took
place in a small town in South Carolina called Catfish Row. The apartments sat close to a beach.
Throughout the play, there was plenty of ways that portrayed African Americanin a negative way.
Porgy and Bess is the epitome of how Caucasians thought of African Americans and the way we
live.
Throughout my paper I m going to express how white people judged African Americans, Where
did Porgy and Bess come from, and The names of the characters and how degrading the authors are
making African Americans out to be. The names of the characters go a long way. Some of their
names have meaning to them, the meaning of their names are literally the role they play. And the
time the play was written.
Gershwin labeled the play as a folk opera. It was written in the year of 1935 by a Jewish man.
Which makes it interesting to study the kind of impact it had on the African Americans at that time.
Gershwin had the African

pager was considered a novel product since most of handheld devices up until then had only one

Japan culture is like many other Asian culture such as using chopsticks and their religious beliefs nut is is also different in many ways. For example Japan just like China are very religious which is caused by Japan absorbing the word of there god through Korea and China. That lead to going a long time isolated from the outside world. There main two religions were Shinto and Buddhism. Both religions were brought to Japan by other countries but Buddhism is practiced more because it was brought to Japan first and it is still practiced to this day. There was three important letters that stood out to me. The most important letters that stood out to me were H for honesty, N for nice, and K for knowledge. The first important letter was H. If everybody had honesty, then the world would be so much better. Honesty can help achieve goals in many different ways. One way is if you tell people what happened and not lie about it then maybe they could not be mad and help you. I can use this in my life to make my home life easier by not lying to my mom or sister. • 4. The State Of Emergency And Urban Californians Introduction In 2012 and 2013 Klamath County on the Southern Oregon border declared a drought in April, after a string of fortunate years of heavy rain and snow. In 2014, a drought emergency was declared in February, two months earlier than in 2013, and in 2015 drought was again declared for the county in April( United State Geological Survey 2015). These successive drought declarations are not surprising to anyone who was following the Western water crisis during those years, where the governor of California declared a state of emergency and urban Californians were mandated to find ways to cut their water consumption drastically . In 2012, 10,000 avian mortalities were reported in the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuges because of the shut off of water facilities that support wetland habitat for migratory species (Learn 2012.) During those dry years, an article titled Birds are Dying As Drought Ravages Avian Highways ran in National Geographic, featuring Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge and putting the struggle of its bird species in a regional context, as long distance flyers found fewer and fewer refuges with the water resources to maintain them( Kay 2015). It was these shocking statistics that first attracted me, as a birder, to the basin as an area of study. However, as I began to wade into the history of the basin and its complicated local politics, I soon realized that I could not disentangle the issues experienced by wildlife and wildlife managers in the ... • 5. The Principle Of Conducting Research The principle of conducting research is sprouting and growing, which it has turned out to be a important skill in today s modern world. A main importance of nursing is to deliver patients with high quality and excellent service and care. It has concluded and established that lack of research in clinical practice is merely a practice without validation. Researchis dynamic and a vital component used in appraising the efficiency and efficacy of modalities in nursing treatments and also to examining the outcome of nursing care on a patient s health. In a situation when challenges and changes occur in nursing practices, thus research needs to be conducted in order to address these needs or challenges. Quantitative research is a recognized, official, objective, rigorous, systematic process for creating statistical information and data about the nation. Quantitative research is conducted to define new circumstances, procedures, impression or ideas; test the relationships among variables; and to determine and conclude the effectiveness and efficacy of treatments in the whole world (Burns, 2011). Qualitative research is a systematic, subjective approach used to describe life experiences and give them meaning. Qualitative research is not a new idea in the social or behavioral sciences (Burns, 2011). Qualitative research consists of a detailed, thorough and complete description of circumstances or events whereas quantitative research is the approach in attempts to describe these ... • 6. Four Unifying Principles UNIFYING PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND MANAGEMENT ABSTRACT Theories and models of organizational behavior and management continue to increase in number and complexity. While much of the recent research has not made its way into standard business textbooks, these textbooks nonetheless offer a broad array of topics and concepts that can easily overwhelm both student and practitioner. No common thread appears to link these disparate topics, despite the fact that variations on the same theory often can be found across topics. This paper describes four underlying principles of organizational behavior and management that distill and synthesize essential features of many of the established theories and models. Each principle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concepts related to each principle can be viewed, alternatively, as dichotomous (a choice among opposites), continuous (a point along a continuum), or paradoxical (a contradiction or dialectic to be resolved), and applied in combination to interpret and circumscribe specific theories. Finally, the implications of these underlying principles for teaching management and organizational behavior as well as for conducting organizational and case analyses are discussed. THE UNIFYING PRINCIPLES There are four unifying principles presented in this paper, each principle represented by two contrasting concepts. The principles are briefly described below, and the application of each principle to organizational behavior and management is illustrated through several examples. The intent of these examples is to demonstrate the range of applications for each principle, rather than to provide an exhaustive analysis. (A more complete set of applications is available from the author.) INDIVIDUAL VS. COLLECTIVE Description of the Principle Perhaps no concepts are more central to our understanding of organizations and management than those of the individual versus the collective. In a generic sense, the term individual means singular, solitary, one, alone, separate, while the term collective means many, multiple, together, gathered, joint. In human terms, these two words represent the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Case Study Of Lon Long Island National Cemetery Results Driven As the Director of LINC, I led the team that verified the accuracy of burial and headstone placement through inspection for each gravesite using the cemetery layout maps, historical burial records, and printout from the Burial Operations Support System (BOSS). In doing so guided my senior staff through conducting a grave by grave, 100% assessment of the entire cemetery. My challenge was to coordinate and record the correction of these sensitive discrepancies. • 8. The Relationship Between Warm Colors and Positive Mood This research is important because every day we have to make choices that include choosing a color when for example we decide what shade of makeup to use, what color of clothes to buy or decide what color to paint a wall. Even it has been proved that people often associate their mood with a specific color. Some frequently responses when a person is feeling sad is to describe it as feeling blue or when a person fall in love is common to hear that now this person view the world through rose colored glasses. Other frequently expressions are to describe a person s jealousy as to be greenwith envy, or describe a child s innocence as to be pure as the snow . Author David Simmons studied color effects more generally in his book, Color and emotion: New directions in color studies. Simmons conducted a lot of experiments trying to prove that color can enhance positive moods. In one of his experiments he asked 56 undergraduate psychology students to paint a white wall with a color that made them to feel positive. The results indicated that yellow, orange and red were picked as the most positive color of the 9 color samples in total. Jacob and Suess (1975) disagree with the general theory that warm colors are more appealing and tend to enhance positive mood. They found that participants shown a more positive mood towards cool colors rather than warm colors. In his article, Effects of four psychological primary colors on anxiety state; Perceptual and motor skills, states that previous studies may have overlooked the effects of colors on standard pencil and paper measures of anxiety. He investigated the effects of primary colors such as: red, yellow, blue and green and the level of anxiety of the participants. The researcher administered the state scale of the State Trait Anxiety Inventory to 40 participants. After reviewing the results he found that colors red and yellow were associated with high levels of anxiety by the participants. On the other hand, color green was described as calming and associated with low levels of anxiety by the participants. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will explore how well police departments follow the principals today, or attempt to determine whether one or more have fallen out of favor. Perhaps a principal is not even relevant in today s society. The structure of this paper will be similar to The Commentaries on the Dhamapada, in that I will list the principal and then proceed to offer my thoughts. Peel, and the British Parliament, would not accept use of the military as a suitable method of protecting London streets. As the first police chief in the city of London, Peel sought to establish a social control mechanism with the strength and discipline of the military, but the heart of the public. In other words, Peel wanted to create a police force that would work with and assist the public in preventing crime. The police cannot be a military, but according to Peel, they should have characteristics (uniform or ranks) and the discipline that is found in the military. 1st Peelian Principal : (police exist) To prevent crime and disorder, as an alternative to the repression by military force and severity of legal punishment. The first principal establishes the mission of any police department: to prevent crime and disorder. However, the police are not the military, or any other type of occupying force. Sadly, many departments forget this fact and adopt a corrosive mentality which believes that it is the police vs society. The repercussions of this idea are severe. These people choose to risk their lives and give up time with their family to save yours. Yet, believe it or not they receive little compensation for the work they do. Having personal experience in the matter as my mother is a 911 dispatcher. Not only does the job take a toll on these people financially, but also their physical and mental health are at risk. As we should make sure that the people that selflessly care about our well being be taken care of. PTH increases blood calcium levels by stimulating osteoclasts, which break down bone to release calcium into the blood stream. PTH increases blood calcium levels by increasing the amount of calcium resorbed by the kidneys before it can be excreted in the urine. One group proposed the name Leda, and said that in Greek mythology, the father of the twins Pollux and Castor is said to be either Zeus or Tyndareus (the king of Sparta) depending on which version you go by. But all versions have Leda as their mother, so it is fitting that the celestial version of Pollux is accompanied by his beautiful mother Leda in an everlasting celestial orbit. But with this woman it is as if there is no interior, only a surface across which I hunt back and forth seeking entry. Is this how her torturers felt hunting their secret, whatever they thought it was? pg.43. One of the central figures in J. M. Coetzee s Waiting for the Barbarians is the barbarian girl. The verbs the Magistrate uses to describe his own actions towards the girl in the selected passage, such as prowl, hunt, and even seeking create an image of a furtive predator rather than a lover. This is a manifestation of the guilt he feels for his part in her injuries. But we do not get a real sense of threat or danger from the Magistrate because he states that this hunter is non invasive: he does not enter her and has no urge to do so. Even the phrases touching her face, and caressing her body, which normally would invoke intimacy, when put in the context of prowling give the impression of a hunter thoroughly examining the pelt of its prey. It is easy to make the connection between this image and the image of the Magistrate examining the barbarian girl s broken ankles and scars. Joll and the accomplice torturers are also referred to as hunting the girl; while Joll was aggressively searching for a secret he never found, the Magistrate hunts for how to figure her out and enter her surface, which he also fails to find. However, they both hunt for some sort of meaning from this girl, suggesting Joll s use of her is similar to the Magistrate s use for her. • 20. The Burning Of Our House Analysis There is a definite distinction between American literature written during the Colonial times and literature written after the colonization of America. Colonial American literature was written by American authors who were experiencing something completely new and different to them. They had never been colonists or traitors to their mother country, Great Britain, before and this showed in their literature. One prominent theme throughout Colonial literature is the importance of God. Puritanauthor, Anne Bradstreet, made this apparent in her poem, The Burning of Our House. Instead of feeling the emotions of anger and sadness due to the fact all of her belongings were destroyed, she looked at the fire as a sign from God that he was taking his possessions that were rightfully his. Colonial literature is rich in Puritan voices and, consequently, Puritan beliefs. Persuasive rhetoric is apparent throughout much of Colonial literature. • 23. The French Revolution of 1789 Essay There is no doubt that the French Revolution has had a profound effect on the world. The cause or causes of it have been greatly disputed. Clearly the Revolution s primary cause was the presence of a weak monarchy and a lack of a stable system of government. France s absolute monarchy had many changes toward the end of the eighteenth century. King Louis XVI, in his attempts to consolidate his authority and lessen the power of the aristocrats, had planned out an intendant system. The intendants were like governors. They would oversee one constituency of the country. These intendants could not govern the region in which they lived, and were chosen from other than the aristocracy. This insured that their allegiance was pledged to the king and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were three divisions or classes in France called estates. The first estate, which was composed of church officials, had immense authority and obtained enormous salaries. Church officials obtained their salaries via taxes collected from church property. Therefore, since the officials received their salaries from the church property, they did not have to pay taxes. The second estate was composed mainly of nobility. They, too, were exempt from paying taxes. This left the entire tax burden upon the third estate. The third estate consisted of some merchants and entrepreneurs; however, the majorities were peasants. Corruption of the estates was causing much frustration among the common people who composed 70 percent of the population. The monarchy tried to make an attempt to give the third estate power by establishing the Estate s General, but this too was corrupted. Unlike most legislative bodies, the Estate s General did not vote by each person having a single vote. Rather, they let each estate have one vote each. Since the first two estates were always in agreement, the third estate was always out voted. This is a prime example of how the lack of a stable government had an immensely tragic effect on the people of the country. If the monarchy had tried to make some reform or if Louis XVI had more backbone to institute some tax reform to lessen the burden on the third estate, the Revolution may have been avoided. Thomas knows that death is inevitable but he wants his father and all the elderly that are, close to death to fight it off for as long as possible. Thomas conveys the theme of transience by comparing how good men s lives are flying by. In his canonical collection, Leaves of Grass, Walt Whitman creates a poetic persona that envisages a particularly American brand of nationalism. Written almost a century after the instrumental document of American republicanism; the Declaration of Independence (1776) was actualized; Whitman s poems draw on some of its key tenets, mainly equality and liberty. Like the Declaration of Independence, his poems perpetuate a framework of American democracyand the importance of the democratic individual. However, unlike the Declaration of Independence, which puts forth a politically and historically reactive American republicanism and identity, Whitman s poems seek to mythologize America as inevitably, inherently and organically democratic. In the Poem of Many in One , Whitman proclaims that by great bards only can series of peoples and States be fused into the compact organism of one nation (Whitman 6). His desire to promote America as a body politic also responds to his employment of corporeal imagery in order to perpetuate the understanding of the democratic process as inherent and organic as the law of nature itself. Whitman also stresses the importance of the poet and the national poem as the main driver of American nationalism. Whitman goes on to further delineate the inefficacy of documents such as the Declaration of Independence in which only facts and arbitrary values are accounted for and hence, are unable to provide the corporeal link between the political process and nature or the way of life. He explores this in his poem where he recounts that to hold men together by paper and seal, or by compulsion, is no account, that only holds men together which is living principles, as the hold of the limbs of the body, or the fibres of plants. Whitman thus, mythologizes a framework for democratic America by rewriting the reasons for its democratic nature. British novelist, Lawrence Durrell once quoted, Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection. The reason I enjoy traveling is because it takes me on a journey for finding my inner self. Before traveling, I ve always been closed minded at how I viewed the world, but once I got a bigger look at how the world works, my thoughts and I, myself have changed. It all begins on a sweltering day in Schertz, Texas. My mom had received a phone call that was certain to come at some point. The person on the other side of the phone informed her that we would have to travel to Turkey and live there for 2 years. Since I was 5 years old at the time, I thought traveling to foreign countries every now and then was normal for every family. There were trucks coming and going, suit case zippers zipping, and chaos all around me. One month later, I m was on a plane headed to this unknown country that was too far away for the impatient self that I am. Eager to march out of the plane, I was at last at the final destination. As I looked around the AdanaAirport, people looked different and their clothing was divergent as they wore dilapidated shirts and pants. • 39. Starting Off With The Gordon Growth Model Starting off with the Gordon Growth Model was developed by Professor Myron Gordon of the University of Toronto. It explains that if any investor is aware of the dividends handed out in a year by any company, and at what rate that dividend will grow, the investor is able to determine the actual value of the stock, which describes what the investor should pay at most for the selected stock issued by the company. (Ozyasar, 2015) The Gordon Growth models inputs are relatively easy to determine. The dividends can be found using any platform or the general news (since they are announced publicly). The investor generally has an idea of the required return he/she demands of a certain stock they are investing in i.e 12%. The problematic issue arises in determining the rate at which a dividend will grow. This is determined through being able to make assumptions on what product will grow in the market or in general which company will grow, which usually makes final results inexact Ozyasar describes. The limitation of the Gordon Growth Model arises when there is no constant growth rate on a stock dividend, which in reality as Ozyasar describes is almost never the case. Despite these limitations the GGM is still a powerful tool used by investors constantly to make decisions on what required return or growth rate would they require for a stock to be favorable and from that an investor determines how to move on with their portfolio. For example Michael Blair discussed the use of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lucretius (99 55 BC), a roman poet and philosopher, was one of the first to observe that a loadstone or magnet stone could both attract and repel other magnets. For about thirteen hundred years after Lucretius, scholars insisted that certain magnets possessed the property of attraction while others possessed the property of repulsion. To their minds, it did not seem possible that the same magnet could both attract and repel other magnets. Gradually it became evident that the two ends, or poles of a magnet are unlike in certain respects. Roger Bacon (1210 1294), an English philosopher and scientist pointed out that magnets could repel as well as attract other magnets. In 1600, William Gilbert, an English doctor, proposed that the earth was like a giant magnet. He had been experimenting with round pieces of magnetite and magnetized needles when he realized that the magnetite was attracting the needles in a way similar to the earth s attraction of a compass needle.
