Essay On My Goal In Life
Embarking on the journey of crafting an essay about one's life goals might seem like a
straightforward task, but in reality, it involves a profound exploration of personal aspirations,
self-reflection, and the ability to articulate these thoughts coherently. The difficulty lies not only
in narrating one's ambitions but also in digging deep to understand the driving forces behind
those goals.
To begin with, summarizing a lifetime of aspirations into a structured essay requires a careful
balance between introspection and effective communication. Unraveling the layers of personal
aspirations demands self-awareness, a task that often involves contemplation and critical
thinking. Pinpointing the essence of one's goals requires not only understanding the 'what' but
also the 'why' – a process that can be both enlightening and challenging.
Moreover, the challenge is compounded by the need for clarity and coherence in expressing these
aspirations. Crafting an essay on life goals involves translating complex thoughts into a narrative
that resonates with the reader. This requires not only a command of language but also an
understanding of the impact and significance of the chosen goals.
Additionally, the challenge extends to the emotional depth that such an essay must encompass.
The writer must not only convey their ambitions but also evoke a connection with the reader,
enabling them to share in the author's journey and aspirations. This emotional layer adds another
level of complexity, as the essay becomes not just a recitation of goals but a compelling narrative
that captivates and inspires.
In conclusion, writing an essay on life goals is far from a simple task. It requires introspection,
clarity of thought, effective communication, and the ability to connect with the reader on a
personal level. The process involves delving into one's own dreams and motivations, a task that
can be both enlightening and challenging. However, the rewards lie in the potential for personal
growth, self-discovery, and the inspiration that one's goals may impart to others.
And remember, if you find yourself facing difficulties or time constraints, assistance is available.

The Benefits Of College After College
After graduating, college is one of the biggest decisions in a person s life, and debt
is just an extra item that comes along with it. 66% of students from state funded
colleges leave school with debt, and 75% of students at private colleges leave with
debt. Those percentages are extremely high, and I do not want to have too much debt
when I leave school. One great way to help pay debts is to take a break year and
work full time, for working for a year in between highschool and collegeis great for
students. Working full time before colleges gives students the chance to make money,
and it provides more financial stability throughout college. Working full time also
allows students to learn many skills, and provides good experience in the workplace.
Relationships can also be earned by working before college, and relationships with
different companies through internships and working for them help obtaining a job
after school. Entering school right after graduating can be effective, but working is
far more beneficial for students. College debt is a massive problem with many
students, but working full time for a year can help eliminate the debts. After
highschool graduation, many students are going straight into college, and they do not
have any funds to support them. These students need money for simple things such as
food, but they did not work, and for that reason they cannot afford even the simplest
of things. Throughout college, money is one of the most important things a
Sterilization Lab Report
In our Sterilization Lab, Alex and I swabbed the back of someone s hand and the
inside of a toilet for testing bacterial growth. We had 3 petri dishes. In the first one
we used what we swabbed off of someone s hand. In the second, we used what we
swabbed from inside a toilet bowl. And in the third we mixed them both. Given its
circular shape and that it grows in in grape like clusters, we concluded that we would
most likely find StreptococcusPharyngitis from the hand swab. This bacteriais the
carrier of the common Strep Throat. This specific infection may be quite the pain for
someone as it has symptoms like headache, fever, vomiting, muscle aches, nausea,
and a sore throat. This infection can often be prevented by maintaining clean eating

In other cases, it may be cured by drinking a lot of water and using antibiotics. To
test for both of these types of bacteria, one may use Gram Staining. This process
consists of three pretty basic steps. First, prepare a sample of the bacteria and strip
everything away from its DNA. To do this properly, sterilize all equipment. Use a
wire loop to extract a sample of the bacteria. Place this sample in a microcentrifuge
tube. Add digestive enzymes to the tube to strip away the beacteria. Seal the tube
and let it stand for several hours. Move the tube into a heated water bath to heat the
enzymes, thus deactivating them. Then add the tube into a centrifuge and
counterbalance. Centrifuge the sample and add the desired DNA at the top of the
tube to a PCR tube. Second, make copies of this DNA. This part needs three PCR
tubes. Add the master mix into each tube. The master mix contains water, a pH
buffer, a large amount of each nucleotides, a large amount of DNa primers, and a
Heat stable DNA polymerase. Now prepare negative and positive controls. The
positive will have a control solution of 16S rDNA in place of the sample DNA. The
negative will simply have deionized water in place
Optimism And Racism
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. This quote by Ralph
Waldo Emerson appears to be a charming, quaint sentiment, although a sentiment
which is seemingly not applicable to modern society. However, is it possible that
each individual could establish an optimisitc, sanguine attitude throught all the days
of their life? In retrospect, I sincerely believe that this is attainable, through a
conscious, caring attitude to our thoughts.
Genuinely unadulterated optimisim and joy is so recherere in modern society.
However, optimisim and an audcaious thrist for a jovial life is wildly infectious. The
significant question still stands. How do we obtain this unshakeable optimism
through the storms of life, through clossal challenges, through unfair critisim and
rejection?
When we see unabashedly optimisic indivudals who rejoice in life and modify the
way we look at this immense, vast, capacious world, we wonder how to procure what
they have acquired? We concede. We convince ourselves that they posess something

A commonly practiced technique includes observing an atrocious, unpreposessing
situation and detecting one outstanding, reedeming quality in the most horrendous
situation. However, there are numerous ways to stay optimsitic. There are no limits,
as it all depends upon the individual.
Optimisitic inviduals are typically empthatic and compassionate. They view
situations through the eyes of others, which allows them to realize the magnitude of
things they have to be thankful for. This motivates and fuels their splendid attitudes.
There are scads of ways optimists stay optimsitic and keep their loving, joyful
countenance in tact every day of the week, even through the trials, tribulations, and
storms of their life. It is important to strive to live optimistically, even if it is not our

Persistence and Qualitative Change
Persistence and qualitative change
The metaphysical idea of and object persisting over time brings rise to a lot of
debate on how we can properly identify a thing as it experiences qualitative change
over time. The main issue that arises when talking about persistence over time is
whether we can identify the initial thing we are observing as a different entity as
time progresses and it undergoes qualitative change. For example is some thing we
identify as x , that goes through a qualitative change at time T1, the same as the
thing x at time T2 after the change was implemented. There are many different views
on this topic and I will introduce three of them and then select the one I think is most
probable. The first view is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My initial thoughts about this is that is similar to a mathematical function were you
can get a y value (current state) for every x value (position in time) and that you only
get to see the whole function when you graph all x,y relations . Also the direction of
the graph can change (qualitative Change) depending on the function.
The three problems that arise with this theory is the assumption that the notion of
time is non existent and that a thing can never represent itself at any one time
because by the very definition of this theory it would be insufficient in
representing itself. The time issue is a consequence of a thing not being a whole
thing unless it s dispersed over time therefor a thing is only itself when time is one
frame . Using algebra to explain what I mean I can say that an object Q is equal to
Q only when the sum of all times t is equal to 1 because Q is equal to the sum of all
Q s corresponding to all times t . The third issue is that it denies that anything
changes (by our definition of change as a function of time) because it denies that
time is ongoing. This theory is not empirically supported because obviously we see
time as being ongoing and infinite also it is an overly complicated explanation for
what we seek.
The last theory is called the no persistence theory and it states that an object x does
not persist through time

Dear Sir or Madam/ Classics Remade Studios workers, After I watching the movie
The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), which I believe will be the most ridiculous scary
movie I have ever watched. It is pretty funny how they pretend to let the Mary

on the monster s personality, make up, dressing..etc It sounds pretty unique that a
monster with some burn off hair and his face look like he just went into the fire.
And the monster never change its clothes. Also There is another scientist named
Dr.Waldman, who is a doctor that book does not even mention. He actually help the
monster to find Victor and recreate another monster as it wife. After that, the
monster is jailed and put on a cross like Jesus christ, which made me more confuse
about the purpose of doing that. Why don t they just smash monster face or do
something incredible cruel? Besides, the old man in the movies directly teach the
monster how to speak and talk with people. I was totally amazed that the old man
look just fine and he is not a blind at all. The most funny part in the movie is that
Dr.Waldman called the new monster the bride of Frankenstein. As we all know,
Frankenstein is not the monster and why you guys put frankenstein inside of monster

Ever since I was four years old, I ve done all star cheerleading,a very competitive

competition. The competition is called NCA (National Cheerleading Association).
NCA is located in Dallas, TX. There are 1,143 teams, 25,484 athletes, 38,000
spectators, 41 states, and five countries. After the nine months passed, it finally
came. When I woke up Thursday morning we drove to Chicago O Hare Airport. We
then got our plane tickets from the kiosk and headed to the flight door. We waited
about an hour till we were allowed to board. As we sat down in our seats, I spotted
many cheerleaders from different gyms crowding the airplane. It made me realize
what I was walking into and how many athletes were going to be in Dallas. The plane
finally took off and after a few hours passed and we were in Dallas, Texas.
The competition was Saturday and Sunday, but we got there Thursday
Combatting Unrealistic Body Image
Sports Illustrated, Victoria s Secret, Vogue. What do these titles have in common?
They are all brands that are prevalent in the media, all brands that feature the same
underweight, unrealistic figures, with models void of stretch marks or body fat. In
today s technological society, the influence of the media is irrefutable; however, it
has become increasingly evident that on the issue of body image, the media has failed
its audience. Rather than portraying the average population, media such as television
and magazines have become accustomed to casting actors and actresses who have
similar, ideal body types, and photoshopping models beyond the point of recognition.
By perpetuating these unhealthy, unrealistic images, the media is, perhaps

In recent years, the media, particularly magazines and television, has become
accustomed to displaying homogenous body types that only represent 5% of the
average population (Rukeyser). Fortunately, some institutions are making strides
in its body image diversity. For example, Dove launched its Campaign for Real
Beauty in 2004. This campaign featured print and television ads that reflect images
of women of varying, and more typical, sizes and shapes ( Body ). More recently,
in January of this year, Sports Illustrated attempted to increase its diversity by
featuring a plus size model on the cover of its swimsuit issue ( Body ). The actions
of these companies are certainly helping to combat the issue of unrealistic body
image, as they have a large influence in the media. If more media institutions follow
suit, there is a greater chance that society will soon move towards more diverse body
representation as a
How Will a Firm s Pricing Strategy Depend on the

How will a firm s pricing strategy depend on the structure of the market?
A pricing strategy is important to any firm in realising its corporate objectives,
whether that be its sales revenue, market share or indeed profit, and thus there is
much preoccupation within a business about its pricing strategy. Ultimately, this will
be guided by many factors; not least the market power it has to set the price of its
products and the nature of the demand curve it faces. This essay will attempt to
outline how a firm s pricing strategy is influenced by the characteristics of the market
in which it operates, looking at various market structures, including perfect
competition, monopoly and oligopoly.
One particular market structure worthy of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this, the markets themselves to be distinct from each other so as to
prevent consumers from the lower priced market reselling the product in the high
priced market. Typically, rail operators have charged cheaper off peak fares to the
elderly and students, who have lower disposable incomes and are more price
sensitive than other user groups, in order to stimulate demand from sectors that
would not otherwise use it.

Alternatively, maybe a firm operates in a market where it has a large share but
competes against small producers possessing a small market share. In effect, the
dominant firm has to split the market demand with these small firms, each producing
an identical product to the dominant firm and act as perfect competitors, taking the
market price as given by the dominant firm and choosing a level of output
Old Gray Fence Analysis
How To Restore An Old Gray Fence So It Looks Like New
If you ve moved into a house with a wooden fence that s gray and old looking, you
may think you have to install a whole new fence. While you might need to hire a
fencing contractor to put in a new fence, especially if you want a fence of another
material, it might be possible to postpone the job and save some money by repairing
the fence yourself. Here are a few things to try that don t cost much more than some
time and labor.
Use A Pressure Washer
As wood ages, it turns a drab gray color naturally. What you may not know is the
gray color is usually just on the surface. That s because the top layer oxidizes as it
is exposed to the environment. The protected wood in deeper layers still has it s
original color. You can blast away the top layer of gray with a pressure washer. If
you don t own one already, you can rent one from a home improvement store.
Practice in a small area first. You want a wide spray that strips the gray, but the
setting shouldn t be so strong that it damages the wood underneath the top layer. As
long as your fence is still structurally strong and not on the verge of falling apart, the
pressure washing may be enough to freshen its appearance and extend ... Show more

Make a list of things you ll need to do and then head to a fencing supply store to
pick up the parts you ll need. You may have to replace loose screws or broken gate
hinges. If the fence is damaged in a localized area, you may need to replace a few
slats or an entire panel. You might be able to repair cracked or splintered slats with
wood glue. Just be sure to choose products made for exterior fencing so they will not
deteriorate when exposed to the sun or rain. The important thing to note is the
condition of the posts. As long as the posts are not rotted away, you can replace
panels to eliminate sagging and restore the strength of the

This report is the outcome of a research created with the purpose of determining what
impacts on customers satisfaction and expectation of service, as well as to study the
relationship between the service nature, service quality, service failure, service
recovery strategies and service guarantee. Evidence of how effective the service

Nowadays organisations recognise the importance of satisfying their customers needs
and meeting their expectations as the more complex the customer demand, the more
there is need for service. Although services are infused in every organisation s core,
service failure still appears therefore, service recovery strategies are essential in order
for the organisations to overcome the situation. This research intends to study the
relation between customer service and organisation.
1.1 Service Nature
Service is an activity which normally takes place by interacting between the service
employees and the customer although a clear definition on services has always
been immense to describe. An easy way to understand services is by imagining
service personnel as the actors in a play and the customers as the audients
(Lovelock, Vandermerwe, Lewis, 1999). There are two ways in which services
can be defined, such as service being an act of performance and as economic
activities providing consumers with benefits under specific circumstances. The
importance of the service sector is obvious as 67% of employees are directly
employed in service jobs while more than half of those already employed in
manufacturing companies perform service function jobs. (Irons, 1997) Services have
four key characteristics such as intangibility, inseparability, variability/heterogeneity
and perishability. This key characteristics of services are used to describe the effect

her daughter had noticed her scar on her eye. She expressed her fear of the day her

essay, Walker chooses particular moments in her life to show how much she was
affected by her injury throughout her entire life. She selects moments from
different ages to show that time never healed how she felt about her injury. At
every age, she came across moments that made her feel bad about the way she
looked, whether it was from mean kids at school or taking a picture for a cover
story. All the experiences she described related to her theme of not changing because
although she was going through changes by growing up, her thoughts regarding her
injury never did. Once she changed on the outside, she confidence about herself
changed as well, so all the experiences she presented shows that she actually had

Blaise Pascal Fideism
In questioning the existence of God, the ideology of fideism is used to in support
the existence of God with the use of faith. Opposed to other various views, fideism
relies on the use of faith and/or revelation rather than depending single handedly on
reason alone. Blaise Pascal is a French philosopher that approaches the doctrine and
beliefs of fideism using his wager argument to confirm the concept that there is a
monotheistic Godin existence(269).
Pascal s ideology revolves around the wins and loses of betting. He states that if
we do believe in a God than our chances at happiness are achievable. He adds on
saying, under the circumstance that we do believe in a God, but He does not exist,
then there is no much to lose in the end. Although, if we do not believe that a god
exists then they is all the much more to lose and happiness is not achievable. This
essentially means that believing in a God is better than not believing in God at all.
Going into further detail, Pascal begins his argument by explaining that If there is a
God, he is infinitely beyond our comprehension, since having neither parts nor
limits, he bears no relation to ourselves (323). This brings up the question of
whether or not humans are able to decide if God is real. He states that we are stuck
between two decisions, two choices, or two infinities. These decisions of infinities
being God existing or God not existing. Pascal mentions that reason alone cannot help
us gravitate towards one decision

From this they gained the nickname angels of their homes , which sounds a lot more
exciting than it really was.
At the start of the Victorian era many children did not go to school and most
worked in factories. There were some good boys schools around, but only rich
families could afford to pay the fees, so even if you were male, the wealth of your
family determined whether your life would lead to something worthwhile or not.
Girls did not go to school at all at the start of the era, so were left with little, if any,
education. Girls from wealthy families could be taught at home by a governess, but
only the minority had this luxury. From 1833, this all changed and the English
parliament began to provide schools for poor children. The Forster elementary act
What Happened Miss Hoe Analysis
People from different African nations stolen, put on a boat and brought into a new
world sold into slavery and oppression. Through being separated from family and
dealing with the injustices in America, black people were able to create amongst
each other, a culture which includes the arts, literature and music. Musical
expression was very important and still is very important in times of need, support
and protest. It helped slaves communicate in song across rivers and escape for their
freedom and has inspired many artists today to speak about the injustices of the
world from Billie Holidayto Tupac. These songs depicted in this essay conveys the
struggles of the sociopolitical issues African Americanpeople fought and are still

a major civil rights activist from Mississippi according to Alan Light s What
Happened Miss Simone (97). Nina goes on to speak about her frustrations with
America and wanting equality for black people. The curse word in the title made
many radio stations ban the song. Light elaborates on how there is a
straightforwardness in Nina s lyrics, and how it led to many people, mainly Nina s
white counterparts straying away once she became more involved in the civil rights
movement through music (100). With Simone s fearfulness, she created something
that will be remembered as a protest song for years to come. Nina Simone went on to
add songs like Four Women and To Be Young, Gifted and Black to her protest
repertoire. Few months later, crossover singer Sam Cooke comes out with A
Change is Gonna Come . He was inspired to write this song after he was turned
away then arrested for disturbing the peace at a Holiday Inn in Louisiana.
According to David Cantwell of the New Yorker, he was also inspired to write it
because of Bob Dylan s Blowin in The Wind . Within the lyrics, you can hear the
familiarity and amount of inspiration and hope it emanates:

Analysis Of Forced Founders By Woody Holton
Throughout Forced Founders: Indians, Debtors, Slaves, and the Making of the
American Revolution in Virginia, Woody Holton argues that the causes of the
Revolutionary War are different than what most people once concluded. Although
many American s believe that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are the men
who led this revolution, Holton brings up a new theory on how the war began. As
Holton s title states, he believes that Indians, debtors, and slaves had a bigger role in
the making of the American Revolution. Throughout the entire novel, Holton argues
that the American Revolution is not led by the elite men of Virginia, but the
nonessential people are those who play the biggest roles in the making of this war.

The main problems between this group of people is their opinions about slave
trade. The British government s insistence on keeping slave trade is one of the main
causes of Virginia s separation from Great Britain (73). The merchants, of course, did
not want to break ties with Britain because trading was their income. Therefore, one
difference of opinion and thousands of lives of slaves is what Holton argues is
another main reason for the cause of the American Revolution.
The second part of the book focusses on the boycotts that the Virginians inaugurated
in order to receive what they wanted from Great Britain. Holton argues that these
boycotts are also a huge part of what started the American Revolution. The American
colonist established the nonimportation association in order to pressure Parliament to
repeal laws that endangered their civil liberties (78). The importance of these boycotts
is evident in history because they played a huge role in the starting of the American
Revolution because not only did these boycotts help start the revolution, but they also
ended it. Without these boycotts and without the colonist pushing to have their way
there would have never been any change. Not only that, but these boycotts helped
create the conditions for the greatest movement of black resistance that Virginia had
ever known (105). This was the beginning of freedom for the slaves from their
owners, as well
Racial Discrimination In Education Case Study
Discrimination According to the free advice staff (2016), racial discrimination in
education refers to any harassment of students based on race, color, or national
origin (Para. 1). The actions of discrimination are nothing new. Discrimination
takes on many forms and have occurred over many years. Discrimination has even
been brought back to focus through the media coverage of current events.
Discrimination of the 1950 s represented an age of equal opportunities in
education. One such educational opportunity pursued was at the University of
Texas Law School where a student wanted admission but because of his color was
denied access. The fight for equal education is then established and the case of
Sweatt v Painter begins. The Reason cited in Complaint Sweatt v Painter is a case
that shifted equality in education to new standards of admission and enrollment for
African Americans. The complaint in this case was in the automatic application
denial of admission for Herman Marion Sweatt to the University of Texas Law
School. According to the state law of the time, blacks could not have access to the
University. The institutions way of resolving the issue was to offer him acceptance
through a separate facility. The facility was the School of Law of the Texas State

Examples Of Reader Response Theory
Reader Response Theory Reader response theory identifies the reader as an
affective agent who imparts real exist ence and life to the work, completing its
meaning through interpretation. Reader response criti cism argues that literature
should be viewed as art in which each reader creates his or her own most likely
unique, text related performance. I am using Wolfgang Iser and Stanley Fish s
takes on Reader Response for my study. Iser s Theory of Reception and
Transactional Reader Response Theory According to Iser, any literary text which
is a product of the Writer s intentional acts part ly controls the response of a reader;
however, this includes an abundance of gaps. In order to comprehend more clearly,
the reader must take action in active participation in attempting to cre atively fill
these gaps with the given information of the test put before him; Thereby allowing
the Reader and the text to undergo a transactional process. Iser speaks of the Actual
reader in distinction to the Implied reader who is formed within a text and expected
to react and respond in specific ways to the response inducing structure of the text.
The actual reader, however, is an individual with its own personal experiences

14 15 of Types of Coffee). Once a coffee seed has been processed it cannot be used
to produce another plant. The work does not end after the growing because it really
begins with the processing of the beans.
These ripe plants have to be picked for the harvest. In Brazil, the world s largest
coffee producer, their crops are mechanically harvested due to their great coffee
fields. Mechanical harvesting takes place when the branches are swept for
cherries or the trunk is shaken to drop the cherries. The shaking can be calibrated
and will leave the unripe cherries on the trees. Another method used is stripping;
this is thought to be very wasteful because unripe cherries will also be removed.
This method is used when the majority of the fruit is ripe. In both methods, after
the beans are shaken to the ground, the beans are raked and sorted. The last method
is self explanatory and very popular, hand picking the cherries. Ripe cherries (based
on touch and color) are picked while the unripe cherries are saved to be picked at a
later date. Next, the coffee seeds have to be processed. Once the coffee has been
picked, processing must begin as quickly as possible to prevent fruit spoilage (from

wet method can be used to process the beans. First, the

A STUDY ON FINANCIAL DERIVATIVES WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO
NIFTY F O
ABSTRACT
Derivatives are the contracts whose value is derived from the value of some
underlying assets such as equities, commodities or currencies. These contracts helps
the investor to reduce the risk of wearing down of his investments. The application of
derivatives can be observed as an opportunity to transfer the risk from the person who
wish to ignore it, to the person who is ready to accept it i.e. risk management hedging
through derivatives. In an environment, in which portfolio managers are pressured to
beat the indices, need to protect the investment gains in their portfolios from financial
risk. Different hedging strategies can be formulated to meet the particular hedging
requirements. Various studies on the outcomes of future and option listing on the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bonds

bonds and bonds can provide a means of preserving capital and earning a predictable

Symptoms And Treatment Of An Idiopathic Etiology
As previously reported, Ms. Noid referred herself for a voice evaluation because of a
chronic, persistent dysphonia characterized by severe hoarseness and breathiness.
She had a recent ENT report indicating a left adductor vocal cord paralysis which is
paralyzed in the intermediate position. Furthermore, she has reported that her
symptoms have persisted for 18 months, eliminating the possibility of an idiopathic
etiology. After completing a voice evaluation, recommendations for medical clearance
would include evaluations performed by a laryngologist, neurologist, and/or
evaluations performed by professionals who would be part of the client s medical

client, and providing her with behavioral and medical treatment options. Furthermore,
Ms. Noid would be informed with the benefits and potential side effects of the various

Comparison Of An Hour And A Pair Of Silk Stockings
Both A Pair of Silk Stockings and The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, were
written from a third person point of view, making the story less subjective and more
objective. As a result the reader is unable to put him or herself into the story. The
narrative structures of A Pair of Silk Stockings and The Story of an Hourdiffer in that
the setting, the time and overall story plots are completely different. There is one
similarity that sticks out, both protagonists are selfish. There is really strong
symbolism and imagery in both stories which puts the reader inside the story. The

doesn t necessarily need, can be seen as a reference to sin. This serpent imagery can
be seen as a temptation from Satan to indulge carelessly in fancy materialistic items.
At first Mrs. Sommers is practical but her exhaustion from having forgotten to eat
seems to cloud her better judgement and her exhaustion, from her poverty stricken
life, leads to her indulgence and misuse of her
The Sandwich Factory Essay
The Sandwich Factory
By Jason Kennedy
The main theme of the short story The Sandwich Factory is the mechanization of
human beings. The plot takes place in 1994 at a sandwich factory and we meet the
narrator who works there. Through him we get the impression that the employees are
no longer considered humans or individuals, but just one of many. The factory
threatens to turn human beings into machines by thwarting the development of their
emotions and imaginations and in the end of the story the narrator realizes that he
doesn t want to be a part of the factory. The narrator in this short storyis a 1 st person
narrator who restricts his own view to the factory. It is important to remember that we
hear his thoughts and his opinion, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This monotonous type of work is sure to affect a person at some point, for example
Dot, who is a contrast to the narrator. Dot has been at the factory long enough to
have lost a great part of her identity and human qualities. She has become a victim
of the factory and this assertion is based on the fact that she involves in the
narrator s life when she tries to be a matchmaker because she doesn t understand
why the narrator is not acting like the other workers. Being denied the right to have
human needs is sure to drive a person crazy at some point. The mad kid is a perfect
example of the human mechanization at the factory. I worked at a sandwich factory
where a mad kid worked.

Madman emphasizes the madness at the factory and he has become a product of
it. The managers of the factory don t respect the workers and it seems like they
treat them like robots that work monotonously by the conveyor belt. Locked doors
were a feature of the sandwich factory. The managers would lock everyone in if we
were behind schedule or there was a larger order than usual. 3 The employees have
nothing to say and it seems like they are being treated like slaves. The managers
also divide the workers in groups and mark them as the good ones and the poor ones
and it emphasizes that the workers are
Five Principles Of Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi
Gandhi s non violence beliefs, in India and South Africa when he is leading and when
others leaders lead their rebelion, are more effective and reasonable than violent
gestures, through military and militia attacks and wars. Mahatma Gandhi, born
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, leads a movement for independence in India through
his beliefs he acquires from the ancient Indian philosophy he follows, Jainism.
Jainism includes five main principles that Gandhi followed strictly, nonviolence is
one of them. The nonviolent approach that Gandhi puts forward is still put to use by
other leaders such as Barack Obama, Martin Luther King, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein,
Nelson Mandela. The Indian independence movement of the revolution from Britain
is a turning point in history because of the change it makes without the use of
weapons or with bloodshed.
Gandhi s childhood
Gandhi grows up in British ruled western India in Porbandar, Kathiawar, modern
day Gujrat, born on October 2, 1869. He lives in a widely religious, business class,
Hindu family that follows Jainist philosophies, however in his teen ages he does as ...

Since the war is going on, Gandhi helps Britain recruit Indian soldiers, even though
he does not agree with their beliefs. Gandhi In 1919, about 60 years into British
rule of India, Gandhi is at 50 years of age and ready to go to continue more peaceful
protests in the country he is born in. Gandhi calls for another Satyagraha campaign
because after the end of the war Britain enacts the Rowlatt Act that lets British
authorities put people in prison for sedition, rebellion against a the government,
without trial. In April 1919, violence breaks out by Indians, causing British retaliation
that slaughters 400 unarmed Indians in the Massacre of Amritsar. Gandhi quickly
ends his ties with the British government and starts leading the Indian independence
Prosperity Gospel Definition
Church and religion are not topics that come up often in my house. I ve never
stepped foot in a church. Both of my parents were raised to be very religious, but
never wanted that for their children. I was taught that if I worked hard, whether at
school or work, my teachers or managers would reward me for it. Prosperity gospel
is the belief that, the full blessings of God available to those who approach Him in
faith and obedience include wealth, health and power ( The Definition ). Before this
project, I don t think I ve ever seen or heard that word. The idea of the prosperity
gospel is a hotly debated topic among many people.
One person is John Calvin, an author and commentator on the Bible, does not believe
in the stereotypical prosperity gospel. He believes people are happy with their
achievements, and Instead of leading to gratitude, God s indulgent liberality ... Show

The first thing she has found is, God grants all his faithful followers physical health
and financial prosperity (Hladky). This first idea she found is closely related to the
dictionary definition. The second thing she found is, believers claim their divine
right to wealth and health through positive confession, financial offerings, and the
persistent faith that God must fulfill his promises (Hladky). She has also found that
the faith preachers that teach this topic teach that God only releases this gift when
his followers are fully committed and submitted to him (Hladky). The last person I
found talking about this topic is a pastor called Rick Henderson. Pastor Rick
Henderson is a big skeptic of the prosperity gospel. He believes that the big teachers
Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer are, Teach[ing] a twisted form of Christianity that

Reputation In The Great Gatsby
Reprimanding Gatsby
A character s appeal to the readers often determines the impression a book has.
Whether a character is primarily good or bad does not necessarily correspond to the
impact they have but affects the experience of reading a book. It is a crucial moment
when readers decide whether the flawed main characters are principally admirable or
the opposite. This is the decision that needs to be made about the captivating main
character in The Great Gatsby. Contradicting the title, Gatsby negative qualities
significantly outweigh the positive.
Gatsby s story, to many, is one of perseverance and determination at its finest. He
devotes all his money and energy to the relatable dream of making life as fulfilling
as possible. Gatsby is named great because of the desirable prosperity that he
accumulates in a short time. Despite this material accomplishment, he should be
condemned for turning into a criminal to actualize his dream. Secrets about his
money are only revealed later in the book, horrifying readers who were kept in
suspense about his past. He and this Wolfsheim bought up a lot of side street drug
stores here and in Chicago and sold grain alcohol over the counter (Fitzgerald 133)
is one example of confirmation that Gatsby was involved in illegal activities. He is
an immoral man. There is an absence of discretion or guilt when Gatsby spends his
unlawful earnings on lavish parties and a mansion. Clearly, he is not ashamed.

The Characters Personalities in Grendel and Beowulf ...
The book Grendel, written by John Gardner, and the poem Beowulf, translated by
Seamus Heaney, both have very distinct opinions on what role each character plays.
The translator of Beowulf and the writer of Grendel follow the idea that everyone
has a story. A story is the writer s perspective on a character s personality, the way
people in the story see and treat the character, and the way it ties the ideas together.
There are many examples in these two writings of this concept, but the main instances
connect with the lives of Grendel, Beowulf, and Unferth. Our first character,
Grendel, is an exceptionally diverse character. It is implied that in both book and
poem, Grendel is a blood thirsty monster. All Grendel does is go through... Show

This way of thinking leads Grendel to be the assassin we know him as today.
A great character to include in this topic is Unferth. Unferth is a very out of the
ordinary individual. In Beowulf, the writer s perspective on Unferth is a pathetic
warrior who couldn t win even the simplest of fights. When first introduced in the
poem Beowulf, it s hard to feel sympathy for Unferth because he is in verbal
conflict with Beowulf, insulting Beowulf. When switching to the outside view in
the book Grendel, it becomes apparent that Unferth isn t just doing this to pick a
fight. Grendel has been his arch enemy ever since the twelve year war started.
Unferth was embarrassed and infuriated in his first meeting with Grendel when
Grendel said I m going to carry you back to Hrothgar, safe and sound (p.90). The
other people in the book think he s supposed to be the savior of the kingdom, yet
he can t even come close to killing Grendel and when he does attempt to kill
Grendel, Grendel just laughs and teases him. This idea of embarrassment drives
Unferth mad with rage. When Beowulf comes along, he claims that he has done all
these heroic and outstanding things. He makes the claim that Grendel is hardly a
work out which infuriates Unferth. He has worked so hard to get revenge on
Grendel and a warrior came from a distant land and claims to kill him like it is
nothing. It is not
The Value Of Stilt Houses Built Over Water Pre 19th

A study in Southeast Asia of Stilt Houses built over water pre 19th century.

2016 This essay will explore an understanding into stilt houses built over water on the
island of Borneo of Southeast Asia before the nineteenth century. I chose to
specifically investigate the value of stilt houses in Borneo because as a singular
building how it became the container of a life for various the tribes. Following the
migratory patterns of these tribes into Borneo and across it, I hope to unravel how
these tribes fashion their environment but more importantly the characteristics of the
stilt house and its value to its community. The map below shows where Borneo is in
relation to the Southeast Asia area.
Tim Ingold mentions in an essay that, Human beings are makers of the world . This
is evident through my research in a way that we understand how communities travel
across the seas around Borneo to take on a new way of living within their newly
formed tribes. These tribes make do with what they have in a completely new
environment. As more and more communities spread across the coasts, setting up
their new life, so did the distinction between the various tribes.
The earliest record of people in Borneo were suggested by Kemp Pallesen, who is a
linguistic profession. By using his comparitive linguistic data , Pallesen proposed

The Unbreakable Bond In American Horse By Louise
Erdrich
The Unbreakable Bond
When families are torn apart, the pain it causes can be devastating and last a
lifetime. When children are removed from a home, they can t always comprehend
why they are being taken. The children may think they did something wrong. They
may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case, Buddy wants to stay with
his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise Erdrich s
short story American Horse shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be
present in less than ideal circumstances.В° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine
like a gorilla, when he feels the satin roses, and the emergency chocolate bar.*
The hugs Buddy and Albertine share are a sensational place of happiness. Buddy
clearly loves his mother in many ways. Erdrich explains when Buddy tries to hug
Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her like a gorilla (17). Often when children
hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last a lifetime. When Buddy
hugs his mother, he envisions her saying, Let s get married (17). Young children
have a special bond with their parents and it is common for a child to want to marry
one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child. Also, a child s
imagination has a deeper, darker side. Erdrich writes that Buddy would have times
when he wished that [Albertine] would die (17). Buddy hates himself for thinking
these thoughts, knowing that someday his wish could come true. He

  • 1. Essay On My Goal In Life Embarking on the journey of crafting an essay about one's life goals might seem like a straightforward task, but in reality, it involves a profound exploration of personal aspirations, self-reflection, and the ability to articulate these thoughts coherently. The difficulty lies not only in narrating one's ambitions but also in digging deep to understand the driving forces behind those goals. To begin with, summarizing a lifetime of aspirations into a structured essay requires a careful balance between introspection and effective communication. Unraveling the layers of personal aspirations demands self-awareness, a task that often involves contemplation and critical thinking. Pinpointing the essence of one's goals requires not only understanding the 'what' but also the 'why' – a process that can be both enlightening and challenging. Moreover, the challenge is compounded by the need for clarity and coherence in expressing these aspirations. Crafting an essay on life goals involves translating complex thoughts into a narrative that resonates with the reader. This requires not only a command of language but also an understanding of the impact and significance of the chosen goals. Additionally, the challenge extends to the emotional depth that such an essay must encompass. The writer must not only convey their ambitions but also evoke a connection with the reader, enabling them to share in the author's journey and aspirations. This emotional layer adds another level of complexity, as the essay becomes not just a recitation of goals but a compelling narrative that captivates and inspires. In conclusion, writing an essay on life goals is far from a simple task. It requires introspection, clarity of thought, effective communication, and the ability to connect with the reader on a personal level. The process involves delving into one's own dreams and motivations, a task that can be both enlightening and challenging. However, the rewards lie in the potential for personal growth, self-discovery, and the inspiration that one's goals may impart to others. And remember, if you find yourself facing difficulties or time constraints, assistance is available. Similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net. • 2. The Benefits Of College After College After graduating, college is one of the biggest decisions in a person s life, and debt is just an extra item that comes along with it. 66% of students from state funded colleges leave school with debt, and 75% of students at private colleges leave with debt. Those percentages are extremely high, and I do not want to have too much debt when I leave school. One great way to help pay debts is to take a break year and work full time, for working for a year in between highschool and collegeis great for students. Working full time before colleges gives students the chance to make money, and it provides more financial stability throughout college. Working full time also allows students to learn many skills, and provides good experience in the workplace. Relationships can also be earned by working before college, and relationships with different companies through internships and working for them help obtaining a job after school. Entering school right after graduating can be effective, but working is far more beneficial for students. College debt is a massive problem with many students, but working full time for a year can help eliminate the debts. After highschool graduation, many students are going straight into college, and they do not have any funds to support them. These students need money for simple things such as food, but they did not work, and for that reason they cannot afford even the simplest of things. Throughout college, money is one of the most important things a

In the first one we used what we swabbed off of someone s hand. In the second, we used what we swabbed from inside a toilet bowl. And in the third we mixed them both. Given its circular shape and that it grows in in grape like clusters, we concluded that we would most likely find StreptococcusPharyngitis from the hand swab. In other cases, it may be cured by drinking a lot of water and using antibiotics. To test for both of these types of bacteria, one may use Gram Staining. This process consists of three pretty basic steps. First, prepare a sample of the bacteria and strip everything away from its DNA. To do this properly, sterilize all equipment. Use a wire loop to extract a sample of the bacteria. Place this sample in a microcentrifuge tube. Add digestive enzymes to the tube to strip away the beacteria. Seal the tube and let it stand for several hours. Move the tube into a heated water bath to heat the enzymes, thus deactivating them. Then add the tube into a centrifuge and counterbalance. Centrifuge the sample and add the desired DNA at the top of the tube to a PCR tube. Second, make copies of this DNA. This part needs three PCR tubes. Add the master mix into each tube. The master mix contains water, a pH buffer, a large amount of each nucleotides, a large amount of DNa primers, and a Heat stable DNA polymerase. Now prepare negative and positive controls. The positive will have a control solution of 16S rDNA in place of the sample DNA. The negative will simply have deionized water in place
  • 4. Optimism And Racism Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson appears to be a charming, quaint sentiment, although a sentiment which is seemingly not applicable to modern society. However, is it possible that each individual could establish an optimisitc, sanguine attitude throught all the days of their life? In retrospect, I sincerely believe that this is attainable, through a conscious, caring attitude to our thoughts. Genuinely unadulterated optimisim and joy is so recherere in modern society. However, optimisim and an audcaious thrist for a jovial life is wildly infectious. The significant question still stands. How do we obtain this unshakeable optimism through the storms of life, through clossal challenges, through unfair critisim and rejection? When we see unabashedly optimisic indivudals who rejoice in life and modify the way we look at this immense, vast, capacious world, we wonder how to procure what they have acquired? We concede. They view situations through the eyes of others, which allows them to realize the magnitude of things they have to be thankful for. This motivates and fuels their splendid attitudes. There are scads of ways optimists stay optimsitic and keep their loving, joyful countenance in tact every day of the week, even through the trials, tribulations, and storms of their life. It is important to strive to live optimistically, even if it is not our innate
  • 5. Persistence and Qualitative Change Persistence and qualitative change The metaphysical idea of and object persisting over time brings rise to a lot of debate on how we can properly identify a thing as it experiences qualitative change over time. The main issue that arises when talking about persistence over time is whether we can identify the initial thing we are observing as a different entity as time progresses and it undergoes qualitative change. For example is some thing we identify as x , that goes through a qualitative change at time T1, the same as the thing x at time T2 after the change was implemented. There are many different views on this topic and I will introduce three of them and then select the one I think is most probable. The first view is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My initial thoughts about this is that is similar to a mathematical function were you can get a y value (current state) for every x value (position in time) and that you only get to see the whole function when you graph all x,y relations . Also the direction of the graph can change (qualitative Change) depending on the function. The three problems that arise with this theory is the assumption that the notion of time is non existent and that a thing can never represent itself at any one time because by the very definition of this theory it would be insufficient in representing itself. The time issue is a consequence of a thing not being a whole thing unless it s dispersed over time therefor a thing is only itself when time is one frame . Using algebra to explain what I mean I can say that an object Q is equal to Q only when the sum of all times t is equal to 1 because Q is equal to the sum of all Q s corresponding to all times t . The third issue is that it denies that anything changes (by our definition of change as a function of time) because it denies that time is ongoing. This theory is not empirically supported because obviously we see time as being ongoing and infinite also it is an overly complicated explanation for what we seek. The last theory is called the no persistence theory and it states that an object x does not persist through time

This campaign featured print and television ads that reflect images of women of varying, and more typical, sizes and shapes ( Body ). More recently, in January of this year, Sports Illustrated attempted to increase its diversity by featuring a plus size model on the cover of its swimsuit issue ( Body ). The actions of these companies are certainly helping to combat the issue of unrealistic body image, as they have a large influence in the media. If more media institutions follow suit, there is a greater chance that society will soon move towards more diverse body representation as a

A pricing strategy is important to any firm in realising its corporate objectives, whether that be its sales revenue, market share or indeed profit, and thus there is much preoccupation within a business about its pricing strategy. Ultimately, this will be guided by many factors; not least the market power it has to set the price of its products and the nature of the demand curve it faces. Old Gray Fence Analysis How To Restore An Old Gray Fence So It Looks Like New If you ve moved into a house with a wooden fence that s gray and old looking, you may think you have to install a whole new fence. While you might need to hire a fencing contractor to put in a new fence, especially if you want a fence of another material, it might be possible to postpone the job and save some money by repairing the fence yourself. Here are a few things to try that don t cost much more than some time and labor. Use A Pressure Washer As wood ages, it turns a drab gray color naturally. What you may not know is the gray color is usually just on the surface. That s because the top layer oxidizes as it is exposed to the environment. The protected wood in deeper layers still has it s original color. You can blast away the top layer of gray with a pressure washer. If you don t own one already, you can rent one from a home improvement store. Practice in a small area first. You want a wide spray that strips the gray, but the setting shouldn t be so strong that it damages the wood underneath the top layer. Although services are infused in every organisation s core, service failure still appears therefore, service recovery strategies are essential in order for the organisations to overcome the situation. This research intends to study the relation between customer service and organisation. 1.1 Service Nature Service is an activity which normally takes place by interacting between the service employees and the customer although a clear definition on services has always been immense to describe. An easy way to understand services is by imagining service personnel as the actors in a play and the customers as the audients (Lovelock, Vandermerwe, Lewis, 1999). There are two ways in which services can be defined, such as service being an act of performance and as economic activities providing consumers with benefits under specific circumstances. The importance of the service sector is obvious as 67% of employees are directly employed in service jobs while more than half of those already employed in manufacturing companies perform service function jobs. (Irons, 1997) Services have four key characteristics such as intangibility, inseparability, variability/heterogeneity and perishability. This key characteristics of services are used to describe the effect and

He adds on saying, under the circumstance that we do believe in a God, but He does not exist, then there is no much to lose in the end. Although, if we do not believe that a god exists then they is all the much more to lose and happiness is not achievable. This essentially means that believing in a God is better than not believing in God at all. Going into further detail, Pascal begins his argument by explaining that If there is a God, he is infinitely beyond our comprehension, since having neither parts nor limits, he bears no relation to ourselves (323). This brings up the question of whether or not humans are able to decide if God is real. He states that we are stuck between two decisions, two choices, or two infinities. These decisions of infinities being God existing or God not existing. Pascal mentions that reason alone cannot help us gravitate towards one decision

Although the Victorian era was good for the United Kingdom in many ways, it was also a time where there were great differences in gender equality leaving women with very few rights. Therefore, making it a period when women began to demand equal treatment to men and although their rights would not be equal until the 20th Century, Victorian women started the idea. In this era, everything revolved around gender and the way other people saw you was always based upon this. For women it was a very different story, they were expected to be innocent. They were only seen to have a use in domestics so were forced to stay at home to cook, clean and only take an interest in what their husbands wanted, leaving them with no freedom of their own. They, themselves, were not allowed to be educated or know a world outside the home chores. They were also expected to raise their children and prepare them for the life ahead if them, without knowing much about it themselves. From this they gained the nickname angels of their homes , which sounds a lot more exciting than it really was. At the start of the Victorian era many children did not go to school and most worked in factories. There were some good boys schools around, but only rich families could afford to pay the fees, so even if you were male, the wealth of your family determined whether your life would lead to something worthwhile or not. Girls did not go to school at all at the start of the era, so were left with little, if any, education. Girls from wealthy families could be taught at home by a governess, but only the minority had this luxury. From 1833, this all changed and the English parliament began to provide schools for poor children. The Forster elementary act

Although many American s believe that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are the men who led this revolution, Holton brings up a new theory on how the war began. As Holton s title states, he believes that Indians, debtors, and slaves had a bigger role in the making of the American Revolution. The British government s insistence on keeping slave trade is one of the main causes of Virginia s separation from Great Britain (73). The merchants, of course, did not want to break ties with Britain because trading was their income. Therefore, one difference of opinion and thousands of lives of slaves is what Holton argues is another main reason for the cause of the American Revolution. The second part of the book focusses on the boycotts that the Virginians inaugurated in order to receive what they wanted from Great Britain. Holton argues that these boycotts are also a huge part of what started the American Revolution. The American colonist established the nonimportation association in order to pressure Parliament to repeal laws that endangered their civil liberties (78). The importance of these boycotts is evident in history because they played a huge role in the starting of the American Revolution because not only did these boycotts help start the revolution, but they also ended it. Without these boycotts and without the colonist pushing to have their way there would have never been any change. Not only that, but these boycotts helped create the conditions for the greatest movement of black resistance that Virginia had ever known (105). In Brazil, the world s largest coffee producer, their crops are mechanically harvested due to their great coffee fields. Mechanical harvesting takes place when the branches are swept for cherries or the trunk is shaken to drop the cherries. The shaking can be calibrated and will leave the unripe cherries on the trees. The narrativestructure of Chopin s A Pair of Silk Stockings indicates that the story takes place in a big city, most likely New York or somewhere similar. This can be assumed because Mrs. Sommers visits a department store, goes to a shoe department store, a magazine stand, and eats at a fancy restaurant. The fact that she mentions how the shoe store is across from the department store and only a few feet away there was a magazine display and the restaurant was on the same corner. Maybe it was a downtown area with lots of shops and restaurants and the theater. The story starts out with her finding the money and spending a couple of days contemplating what to do with it. She walked about apparently in a dreamy state trying to figure out what to do,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chopin s description that the stockings glide serpent like through her fingers (Chopin, Vogue 7, 1897) in relevance to her temptation to start buying things she doesn t necessarily need, can be seen as a reference to sin. This serpent imagery can be seen as a temptation from Satan to indulge carelessly in fancy materialistic items. At first Mrs. Sommers is practical but her exhaustion from having forgotten to eat seems to cloud her better judgement and her exhaustion, from her poverty stricken life, leads to her indulgence and misuse of her

She has become a victim of the factory and this assertion is based on the fact that she involves in the narrator s life when she tries to be a matchmaker because she doesn t understand why the narrator is not acting like the other workers. Being denied the right to have human needs is sure to drive a person crazy at some point. The mad kid is a perfect example of the human mechanization at the factory. • 44. Prosperity Gospel Definition Church and religion are not topics that come up often in my house. I ve never stepped foot in a church. Both of my parents were raised to be very religious, but never wanted that for their children. I was taught that if I worked hard, whether at school or work, my teachers or managers would reward me for it. Prosperity gospel is the belief that, the full blessings of God available to those who approach Him in faith and obedience include wealth, health and power ( The Definition ). Before this project, I don t think I ve ever seen or heard that word. The idea of the prosperity gospel is a hotly debated topic among many people. • 45. Reputation In The Great Gatsby Reprimanding Gatsby A character s appeal to the readers often determines the impression a book has. Whether a character is primarily good or bad does not necessarily correspond to the impact they have but affects the experience of reading a book. It is a crucial moment when readers decide whether the flawed main characters are principally admirable or the opposite. This is the decision that needs to be made about the captivating main character in The Great Gatsby. Contradicting the title, Gatsby negative qualities significantly outweigh the positive. Gatsby s story, to many, is one of perseverance and determination at its finest. He devotes all his money and energy to the relatable dream of making life as fulfilling as possible. Gatsby is named great because of the desirable prosperity that he accumulates in a short time. Despite this material accomplishment, he should be condemned for turning into a criminal to actualize his dream. Secrets about his money are only revealed later in the book, horrifying readers who were kept in suspense about his past. He and this Wolfsheim bought up a lot of side street drug stores here and in Chicago and sold grain alcohol over the counter (Fitzgerald 133) is one example of confirmation that Gatsby was involved in illegal activities. He is an immoral man. There is an absence of discretion or guilt when Gatsby spends his unlawful earnings on lavish parties and a mansion. Clearly, he is not ashamed. Readers understand the statement
  • 46. The Characters Personalities in Grendel and Beowulf ... The book Grendel, written by John Gardner, and the poem Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, both have very distinct opinions on what role each character plays. The translator of Beowulf and the writer of Grendel follow the idea that everyone has a story. A story is the writer s perspective on a character s personality, the way people in the story see and treat the character, and the way it ties the ideas together. There are many examples in these two writings of this concept, but the main instances connect with the lives of Grendel, Beowulf, and Unferth. Our first character, Grendel, is an exceptionally diverse character. It is implied that in both book and poem, Grendel is a blood thirsty monster. All Grendel does is go through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This way of thinking leads Grendel to be the assassin we know him as today. A great character to include in this topic is Unferth. Unferth is a very out of the ordinary individual. In Beowulf, the writer s perspective on Unferth is a pathetic warrior who couldn t win even the simplest of fights. When first introduced in the poem Beowulf, it s hard to feel sympathy for Unferth because he is in verbal conflict with Beowulf, insulting Beowulf. When switching to the outside view in the book Grendel, it becomes apparent that Unferth isn t just doing this to pick a fight. Grendel has been his arch enemy ever since the twelve year war started. Unferth was embarrassed and infuriated in his first meeting with Grendel when Grendel said I m going to carry you back to Hrothgar, safe and sound (p.90). The other people in the book think he s supposed to be the savior of the kingdom, yet he can t even come close to killing Grendel and when he does attempt to kill Grendel, Grendel just laughs and teases him. This idea of embarrassment drives Unferth mad with rage. When Beowulf comes along, he claims that he has done all these heroic and outstanding things. He makes the claim that Grendel is hardly a work out which infuriates Unferth. He has worked so hard to get revenge on Grendel and a warrior came from a distant land and claims to kill him like it is nothing. It is not

Following the migratory patterns of these tribes into Borneo and across it, I hope to unravel how these tribes fashion their environment but more importantly the characteristics of the stilt house and its value to its community. The map below shows where Borneo is in relation to the Southeast Asia area. Tim Ingold mentions in an essay that, Human beings are makers of the world . This is evident through my research in a way that we understand how communities travel across the seas around Borneo to take on a new way of living within their newly formed tribes. These tribes make do with what they have in a completely new environment. As more and more communities spread across the coasts, setting up their new life, so did the distinction between the various tribes. When children are removed from a home, they can t always comprehend why they are being taken. The children may think they did something wrong. They may not realize that it is for their own good. In this case, Buddy wants to stay with his mother, even though their living conditions are rudimentary. Louise Erdrich s short story American Horse shows how a bond between a mother and her child can be present in less than ideal circumstances.В° This is shown when Buddy hugs Albertine like a gorilla, when he feels the satin roses, and the emergency chocolate bar.* The hugs Buddy and Albertine share are a sensational place of happiness. Buddy clearly loves his mother in many ways. Erdrich explains when Buddy tries to hug Albertine, she told him to stop hugging her like a gorilla (17). Often when children hug their parents, a special connection is made that can last a lifetime. When Buddy hugs his mother, he envisions her saying, Let s get married (17). Young children have a special bond with their parents and it is common for a child to want to marry one of them. That is part of the imagination of a young child. Also, a child s imagination has a deeper, darker side. Erdrich writes that Buddy would have times when he wished that [Albertine] would die (17). Buddy hates himself for thinking these thoughts, knowing that someday his wish could come true. He
