How Did The Medici Family Influence The Renaissance
THE MEDICI FAMILY S INFLUENCE
The Medici family were the most powerful citizens of Florence, leaders of the largest bank in Europe,
and through strategic marriage alliances, joined many of Europe s royal families. They controlled
Florence throughout much of the Renaissance, played a large part in the patronage of the arts and the
political development of the city. They faced many challenges, had both positive and negative effects
and they tried to have solutions to most of their problems which some did not work. This is an
example of the Common Themes Theory.
The Medici family had an economic problem of safety. The Pazzi conspiracy threatened the safety of
the Medici family. Although it was a maxim of Medici policy to retain close ties with the Holy See,
relations between Lorenzo and Pope Sixtus were not always cordial. The Pontiff was very displeased
when Lorenzo s diplomacy achieved an alliance between Florence, Venice, and Milan, for such a
combination was more than a match for the armies of the Church. Sixtus felt thwarted in his ambitions
to expand the papal territory and uneasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prior to the late fifteenth century in Florence, the losers of political conflicts routinely faced exile as
punishment for their perceived crimes. Following the Pazzi conspiracy of 1478, however, such
political criminals increasingly received death sentences rather than banishment (Baker). This is an
example of negative effect. The Medici family positive effects are seen through their patronage
support to most artist. According to our text (culture and values), Cosimo s most significant
contribution to the advancement of Greek studies was the foundation and endowment of an academy
for the study of Plato (Cunningham) Lorenzo continued the family tradition of art patronage by
supporting various projects and by adding to the Medici collection of ancient gems, other antiquities,

Disbelief fell upon the dark and dreary hospital room, silence fell upon the dreary hospital room, she
doesn t believe what just happened. Luz s world is falling apart. It s as if the world was falling on top
of her. She s been with him for several years, and now those years have come to an end.
The summer of 1990, Luz arrived to the Indianapolis International Airport. She took a deep breath of
fresh air. Everything smells so different than it does in Mexico, she said.
This is where her journey began, she decided to to rent some apartments in a place called Wind Drift

It was time. The entire family was in the hospital room and then the doctor came to disconnect him. It
would take about 2 3 minutes for him to die. The doctor said.
But it only took a matter of seconds for him to pass. Raul s mom came all the way from Mexico just to
see him, and now he s gone. Luz and everyone was downstairs in the hospital lobby mourning over
the loss. The next following days were very sad, especially for luz. Luz wasn t just remembering the
bad times and regrets, but also the good times and all the things they ve done together. Luz had to get
support from all family and friends.
Then the day of the funeral came, it was April 21st, 2016. So many people came, it was as if the entire
continent of people were at the church. The name of the church was called the Living Faith Church
and it was held in the auditorium. Luz was sitting in the front next to her family while the other guests
sat anywhere else. A lot of Luz s friends showed up, even though one from a long time ago. The
ceremony lasted 1 2 hours and everyone mourned over the loss. Luz was heartbroken and depressed
for a period of time, but she had friends and family to care for her and help her.

The United States And The Soviet War
Change upended Europe many times in the latter half of the 20th Century. After World War II, with the
rise of the United States and the USSR as the world s foremost superpowers, Europe split between
East and West. NATO allied Western Europe and the United States against the rise of communism.
The Warsaw Pact allied Eastern Europe militarily. This effectively split Europe into two competing
camps that ensured relative peace for the following decades. In 1989, however, that changed entirely.
With the borders and limits between East and West erased, Europe had to embrace a new identity.
They had to create a new definition for what it meant to be European . The West had previously
developed models and institutions that united multiple states, and communism united the East. When
the two intermingled politically, economically and socially, there were going to be growing pains. The
East had to integrate into Western institutions because of the fall of communism. Easterners tended to
move west to find work and a new, higher standard of living. This placed a significant burden on the
West as a whole. Spurred by the mass migration of people from the East to the West, the West
responded by hindering Eastern states ability to integrate fully with European institutions.
The revolutions of 1989 led to a movement of people westward, with repercussions resulting in the
West. With the fall of Communist Regimes in most countries happening peacefully, Eastern Europe
quickly entered a new,

Examples Of Altruism
Altruism is the virtue of unselfishness. It is the principle and practice of concern for others. T ypically
it is associated with selfless acts like volunteering and helping the less fortunate. Altruists are
commonly stereotyped to those who ve given greatly to those in need, to the extent in which they
seemingly put those in need over themselves. The Dalai Lama and Mahatma Gandhi are common
icons for this theory.
Pure altruism is the form of the virtue in which one can perform altruist acts while remaining
completely unselfishly motivated. A circumstance of this would be donating money for the benefit of
others with no personal self satisfaction or mental rewarding. An example of a pure altruist act is an
innocent mother risking her life to save her young child, and dying as the result of saving her child. I
do acknowledge a fair hearing towards this and agree it is morally courageous in our present western
society. However, seemingness is a true factor that is predetermined in this sense. It s not the question
of what the mother gains from death that s important, but the theme of absence gained from living.
More specifically, the mom subconsciously concluded

Qualities of Heros in In the Time of the Butterflies by...
How would you determine if some one was a hero or not? What characteristics would they obtain? Do
you think you have hero like qualities? The Maribal sisters are three young girls who start an
underground revolution against their very own dictator. This revolution is still remembered today.
They realized the man Trujillo was not who he said he was or who he wanted to be viewed as. The
group in the underground revolution were known as The butterflies. One
Maribal sister, named Minerva was who I believe to be the true hero in the history of this event.
She was responsible, stood up to Trujillo, and followed her dreams to go to college and obtain a law
degree.

may have to say. Yet again showing her string personality. He yanks me by my wrist, thrusting his
pelvis at me in a vulgar way, and I can see my hand in an endless slow motion rise all mind of its own
and come down on the astonished, made up face P. 67 in this situation,
Trujillo invades Minerva s personal space and she slaps him because she knows who he truly is.
Minerva stands up to him and does not let Trujillo treat her like the rest of the girls.
Minerva is in no way a push over. This is hero like quality to have, she stands up for what she believes
is right and will also go to the next level to do the things she wants to do. Minerva made it possible for
herself to go to college and get a law degree. I want to go the university......I ve always wanted to
study law. P.65 Minerva tells Trujillo about her wanting to study law, a trait that not many people think
of women to do in these days. I m not interested in admirers until I have my law degree. P.66 Minerva
explains to Trujillo that her law degree is more important to her than other things. She shows that she
doesn t need or want a thing to do with him or anything that comes between her law degree. Minerva
insists, though, that I give law a chance. P. 87 Minerva is perusing her dream of getting a law degree
and explains to her sister that it would be good to invest in. The way that Minerva

Stamp Act, Boston Tea Party, And Quartering Acts
There were a lot of events leading up to the American Revolution. But there are three events that are
important. These three events were the Stamp Act, the Boston Tea Party, and the Quartering Acts. The
first event was the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act is when King George decided he needed to tax the
colonies over in America because he needed to pay for the wars they fought (uniforms, weapons, food,
shelter, supplies, etc.). So when he passed the Stamp Act, all the colonists had to pay a tax on paper
like newspapers, playing cards, and regular paper. The colonists rejected the tax. They protested until
King George repealed it. The second event was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was when
the Tea Act has been passed. The Tea Act meant

The United States Of The British Empire
The thirteen colonies that were joined together to form the United States of America were a part of the
British Empire. They were the product of an expansion of England. During the New World Britain had
close to two dozen colonies. This was driven by religion, nationalism, and economics. The Roanoke
colony of 1585, was intended to serve as a base that would undermine the Catholic empire that Spain
had set up in America and advance the interests of England. Instead of following other overseas
expansion of other powerful European nations such as Spain and France, English colonization wasn t
the result of the government. Instead, the Crown granted authorized charters overseas to individuals
and groups. In 1664, an English expedition seized the Dutch colony of New Netherland which the
English divided into New York and New Jersey. Instead of following the Indians, who set up socially
into groups of tribes to make it easier for travel and control purposes, the English set up into colonies.
Colonial charters specified the land that a group had the right to settle. The English government,
dismissed the rights of the Native Americans that already inhabited the land and claimed it as the
Christian discovery. The charters granted authorized the creation of colonial governments. They had
considerable freedom but were subject to some conditions, such as a provision that they not pass any
legislation which violated English law. The three types of charters are categorized as proprietary,

Sixth grade language arts class brought a painful experience that I never knew was coming. My class

itchy. My skin, throat and eyes started tingling and throbbing. I rubbed my eyes without thinking twice
about what was going on, I d never experienced anything like this before. I ended up itching my eyes
so much that they started to get red, dry and inflamed. I could have sworn they were at least two times
the size that they normally were, if not bigger. As I stumbled down to the nurse s office, barely being

My goal for this project was to discover why reactions happen, how to tame my symptoms, if I d ever
be able to outgrow the allergy and if hay fever (seasonal allergy) is genetic.
When I started searching for answers, I made sure to use keywords like allergy, pollen and cause to
help me find the information I needed. It surprised me how difficult it was to find a credible source
that wouldn t have any biased information. Some websites that always came up were from allergy
medicine companies like Flonase or Halls. I didn t want to take any information from websites like
these because the facts they provide are to draw customers in to help sell their products. Whether my
instincts were correct or not, I played it safe and stuck with medical specialist websites.
Some of the websites I visited were from the College of Allergies, Asthma and Immunology
(ACAAI), LiveScience, Bryn Mawr College, Health Line and more.
Before I started collecting information, I always checked for an author who had a medical background
or experience, a list of credible sources, and if it was reviewed by other medical professionals. Of
course, not all of my sources were 100% credible, but I did the best I could to find reliable
information.

The Eruption Of The Volcano
On August 24th AD 79 Mount Vesuvius violently erupted and buried the cities of Pompeii and
Herculaneum. The eruption of the volcano was recorded by one of the only surviving eyewitnesses
Pliny the Younger. He described the start of the eruption like this: On August in the early afternoon,
my mother drew his attention to a cloud of unusual size and appearance...its general appearance can
best be expressed as being like an umbrella pine, for it rose to a great height on a sort of trunk and
then split off into branches, I imagine because it was thrust upwards by the first blast and then left
unsupported as the pressure subsided. (Pliny the Younger, trans Betty Radice in August 30 1963). In
the evening of the same day pumice began to fall form the sky. The streets of Pompeii and
Herculaneum started to get covered by a layer of ash and pumice. The smoke from the eruption was so
high that it started to block out the sun. Ashes were already falling, hotter and thicker as the ships
drew near, followed by bits of pumice and blackened stones, charred and cracked the flames. (Pliny
the Younger, trans Betty Radice in August 30 1963). Around midnight the pyroclastic surges started. A
pyroclastic surge is an avalanche of pumice, rock, hot ash and volcanic gas, which rushes down the
side of the volcano at 100 km/hour or faster. In the map, we can see the locations of Pompeii and
Herculaneum in comparison to Mount Vesuvius. Herculaneum was 6 km from the foot of Vesuvius,

Toad Revisited Larkin
This poem is Larkin s monologue about work. Larking walks through a park and even though he finds
it an appealing and pleasurable sight, he would rather like to keep himself busy with work. He does
not want to be lazy like the people at the park but would rather like to perform his duties meticulously
so that when he dies he can have the satisfaction of having worked so hard. Toad Revisited is Larkin s
mental debate in which he weighs the advantages and disadvantages of work and of leisure; and
comes to the definite conclusion that work is preferable to sloth or to leisure unlike the people around
him. Toad work refers to the easy work that people do that does not need much intelligence or skills.
Their jobs are easy which therefore, in Larkin s view, makes them lazy. He is the opposite of these
people as he is intelligent and educated which is why he needs a break and walks through the park
unlike the rest of them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Work, which the people he sees in the park avoid by being lazy. He is saying, although work is still
unpleasant (like a toad), it is something that gives him a sense of purpose. It s something that will help
him in life and he will do it until the end of his life. He has accepted the fact that working for him is
preferable to not working, and he actually asks the toad (work) to help him through the rest of his life
as he walks down Cemetery road, which is a place of death. Larkin means he is going to work at his
current job that he might not necessarily like until he dies, which gives us a sense that he is at ease
with doing so he sees that the alternative is far worse (the alternative being the people at the park).
There is therefore an acceptance of the toad work as being not only necessary but also

Aesthetic Representation The relationship with my patient was built upon communication. As my

Spanish language was an imperative aspect of our relationship, being able to speak in this language
allowed my patient to freely talk to me without difficulty. Our relationship was like a book, as each
time I spoke with him about something new, I would be turning to a new page with a different passage
being read. Each of these pages are read in Spanish, as I spoke to my patient in this language. The
pages represent something I said in Spanish to my patient during clinical. So, when a page in Spanish

Reflection And Discernment
Reflection and Discernment in a Dynamic World
Reflection
Reflection is a careful thought about oneself, one s behaviour and one s beliefs. It means reviewing
past experiences and making insights about them. Reflection is like looking into the mirror and saying
what you see. ( Self reflection | Unison , 2017)
It is necessary, because it encourages personal growth. Reflection helps identify our mistakes and how
we can improve on them in the future. It also strengthens a person s emotional intelligence and self
regulation, because during self reflection, you have the opportunity of checking your strengths,
weaknesses, values, and goals and to also check your impact on the people around you. Self regulation
involves being able to correct oneself and adapt to changing situations. This is the building of a
successful life. Reflection enables one to act with Integrity. This occurs as a result of conscious effort,
reviewing all the actions made and decisions taken and comparing them to the values you hold in
esteem would help you monitor and control yourself and slowly help you become a person of
integrity. Over time, reviewing and reflecting on your past will help you solidify the ... Show more

Reasons For File A Police Report Essay
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
This chapter provides background of the study and presents the problem statement. It clarifies the
research objectives, research questions, and describes the significance of the study. Organization of the
remaining chapters is provided towards the end of this chapter.
We focus on the modelling of police reporting processes in Malaysia. The fact that everybody knows,
under the law, people have the right to lodge a police report. In the past, the police would actually
dissuade people from filing a police report some times. One could not get their schedule as to when
those times struck and so that made it difficult and frustrating. They will tell people it is not required
or there is no point because they will not investigate or take any further action, or give people excuses
to send people from station to station until people get so frustrated, or just flat out refuse to take down
the complaint.
There are many reasons to file a police report. Some of the most common reasons are to ease of
finding and arresting a suspect in a crime, adding serial numbers to statewide databases to recover
stolen property and tracking criminal activity in various areas to prevent future crimes. A police report
should be filed in the city or jurisdiction where the crime occurred. They need to get the most accurate
information possible to conduct a thorough investigation.
Based on the literature review and an interview with police officer, we come

Franz Kafka Allusion
Gregor or God?
Comparing God to a vile vermin who is meant to repulse us can be offensive to many and is a task that
is not lightly done. In Kafka s Metamorphosis, it is hard to believe any allusion to the bible because of
Kafka s religion is Judaism. However, we see many different symbolism in the story that represent
different aspects of the Bible and most importantly we realize Gregor can be a reflection of Jesus
Christ himself. Franz Kafka used his ability as a writer to manifest an idea that Gregor could have
been an allusion to the savior, Jesus Christ, mainly by providing equivalent scenarios found in the
Bible.
First of all, Jesus Christ was a caring man to ungrateful, difficult people, and this unvarying conflict is
endured in Metamorphosis. God, his father, brought down Jesus to care and cure diseases of these
unbelieving and malicious people. Yet, above everything else Jesus Christ loved and cared for the
people on earth; despite this fact, Jesus Christ felt persecuted, He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent ...

Moreover, Jesus Christ was considered to be alienated by the village in the bible which connects to
Kafka s theme of alienation, so the theme could have been inspired by the stories in the Bible. Despite
all these connection critics still choose to believe that Gregor Samsa had no connection to Jesus
Christ. Due to the fact, that Kafka s religion is Judaism many argue that it would not be reasonable for
him to write such a vivid allegory to the New Testament which is something he would not believe in.
Some even believe Jesus Christ s sacrifices were far too grand to compare to Gregor s, yet we
distinguished so many aspects of the Bible hidden into the text of Franz Kafka s work that disputes

It is considered common knowledge that physical activity is the key to a healthy life, both physically

things, eating healthier and exercising. When they are not feeling the best mentally, they can exercise

is resistance training? More specifically what impact does resistance training have on your overall

Communism in the Soviet Union and Why It Failed
Communism in the Soviet Union and Why it Failed
Communism is defined as a system of political and economic organization in which property is owned
by the community and all citizens share in the enjoyment of the common wealth, more or less
according to their need. In 1917 the rise of power in the Marxist inspired Bolsheviks in Russia along
with the consolidation of power by Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin, the word communism came to
mean a totalitarian system controlled by a single political party. This came to justify that the means of
production is controlled and the wealth is distributed with the goal of producing a classless or possibly
a stateless society. The ideological meaning of communism arose in 1848 with the

Stalinism became the basic model for most of these new governments. After Stalin s death in 1953,
Nikita Khrushchev began a rapid rise and in 1956 repudiated Stalin s tyrannical excesses in his
famous Secret
Speech at the 20th party congress. The next year he became the parties leader.
Krushchev ended the practice of bloody purges of the party membership, but his rule aroused
dissatisfaction among the other party leaders. He was kicked out in 1964. Leonid Brezhnev succeeded
him and was general secretary until his death in 1982, when he was succeeded by Yuri Andropov.
Andropov died in 1984 and the position was passed to Konstantin Chernenko. After Chernenko s
death in
1985 the leadership was passed on to Mikhail Gorbachev.
Both as an ideology and a practical system for the organization of a state, communism entered a
period of crisis in the late 20th century. By the 1980 s it had become quite clear that state owned
systems of economic production were unable to provide the same standards of living obtained in many
countries with free market economies. The unequal concentrations of wealth in capitalist countries
were matched by glaring concentrations of power in communist ones. It had become clear that the
maintenance of a one party communist rule tended to limit personal freedoms in a way unknown in
parliamentary democracies. The rise to power in the Soviet Union of leader Mikhail Gorbachev in the

Air Pollution In The Madison Area
Madison, the south central, mid sized city in Wisconsin is defined by its five major lakes, a beautiful
rural side and a lively metropolitan area of about 578,000 (Madison Population 2016). Madison spills
into surrounding suburbs driving locals to express that they are from the Madison Area. Historically
speaking, Madison was home to the Winnebago Native American Tribe (Madison: History n.d.). The
surrounding lakes made the area a convenient place to settle. Around 1829, a man named James Doty
bought surrounding land to pave a grid of streets. He was to make Madison, named after the fourth
president, the new capital city (Time, B.T n.d.).

The Fifa World Cup Event
The FIFA World Cup, as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world that comes around
every four years, is often assumed by potential host countries as highly profitable. Current research,
however, suggests that the economic growth experienced by these host nations due to the World Cup
event is lower than the expectations they had. Specifically, a number of economists assert that no
observable short term economic growth exists within the tourism, retailing, accommodation, and
employment sectors of each one of the host countries (Allmers Maennig, 2009). As for the long term
impacts, some scholars insist that the World Cup cannot boost the four sectors listed above (Baumann,
Robert, Bryan Engelhardt, and Victor A. Matheson 2012), while others argue that other beneficial
factors, that do not affect the host countries in the short term, generate economic profits for host
countries in the long term (Maennig, 2009). Some scholars even critique this claim, however, arguing
that the new factors won t bring profits to host countries.
In my opinion, the World Cup seems to give the allusion that it will benefit the economy right away in
the short run, but this not necessarily true. On the other hand it is beneficial to the host countries and
the international economy in the long run, assuming that different factors are considered in the long
term analysis. These factors include the novelty effect of new stadiums, the feel good effect on
citizens, and the World Cup s effect

Life Depicted In Thornton Wilder s Our Town
People live in perpetual motion their whole life. Our Town, by Thornton Wilder portrays characters
who live the same lives as their parents. They do not think of adapting their own lives to make them
happier and better suited for themselves instead of their parents. He points to characters doing the
same as others that are usually described by others as special. Their mundane lives show that Wilder
believes that lives are monotonous and that they need to be improved upon. By repeatedly showing
similarities in the characters lives, Wilder conveys the message that humans live the same lives as
each other because they are scared of change. Romantic love is the same for each person: self serving
and conceited. Emily and George have lived next to each other their entire lives and their families are

Analyzing Pinkerton s National Detective Agency
In America, there was very famous police organization Pinkerton s National Detective Agency
(Pinkertons or just Pinks) which was established in 1850 by Allan Pinkerton. Agency as well as
SURETE was very successful and even so it was rumored that agency s prestige had to do with French
style nationwide network of informants that frequently used methods of infiltration into existing
criminal bangs. The main differences between French and English detectives were the following:
French ones were secret and effective and English ones were visible and ineffective so Pinkerton was
dominantly inspired by the first model.
Pinkerton became famous when he claimed to have foiled a plot to assassinate president elect
Abraham Lincoln, who later hired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And since that time when we talk about private police detective agency we can use a pejorative
expression a private eye instead.
Although the company has operated up to now and the current name of organization is Pinkerton
Consulting and Investigation (still known as Pinkerton Government Services), the position of the
organization and its role in society was replaced by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), but many
historians agreed that Pinkerton s agency influenced the FBI, mainly when we talk about identification
methods (or Bertillon system), as well as fingerprints records both were favoured by Pinkerton.
FBI was created by Attorney General Charles Bonaparte in 1908 during the presidency of Theodor
Roosevelt. It was a force of special agents within the Department of Justice. Roosevelt and Bonaparte,
both shared the conviction that efficiency and expertise, not political connection, should determine
who could best serve in government. So the forerunners of FBI were former detectives and Secret
Service men. When the bureau was established, agents investigated federal crime such as violation of
laws involving national banking, bankruptcy, naturalization, antitrust, peonage, and land

On my honor, I pledge that I have neither given nor received help on this assignment.
The practice of cutting off and preserving the head or skull of another is known as headhunting. The
concept of headhunting is without a doubt seen as monstrous to the modern society, though it was
completely normal to many cultures in the past. Many cultures believed that the head either
represented the core of the personality or that a person s soul was concentrated in their head. Due to
the belief that the soul was concentrated in the head, headhunting was seen as a wonderful tactic
against enemies. Sometimes, claiming a head was a requirement before someone was allowed to get

The topic of this paper is gasoline prices and higher state sales tax.
According to Singers(Aug 24,2017), ITEP S (July,2017), (July,2017),(Aug 2011), and(December
2011), higher sales and gas tax in Connecticut have consequences and a solution proposed to reduce
tax burden on low income family. Based on the readings and my understanding of this topic, I
conclude that increasing sales and gas taxes in Connecticut to fix a budget crisis will be financially
harmful to low income families and needs to be address with new policy. Singer(Aug 24,2017),
pointed out that, Connecticut legislators are deciding to increase sales tax from its current level to 6.85

According to Singer s (Aug 24, 2017), the Connecticut 6.35 percent sales tax ranks thirty two in the
US. It s higher than certain state such as Massachusetts, and lower than others, such as Rode Island
and New York. As Connecticut tries to grow its economy and fix it budget crisis with higher sales tax,
will create a financial problem for the lower and middle classes. based on estimate produced by ITEP
data, low income families spend seventy five percent of their income on items subjected to sales tax,
higher than fifty percent spent by middle income families and ten percent spent by the richest families
(ITEP). Considering this, upper income families are not affected by the tax, but low and mid income
people who cannot afford the tax. Comparing Connecticut s gas tax to other states shows that,

A Feminist Perspective on The Secret Life of Bees
I m tired of carrying around the weight of the world. I m just going to lay it down now. It s my time to

which literary pieces are examined to understand the nature of gender inequality and social norms.

Traditionally, beekeepers tend to be men for the consequences that come with the practice such as

portrayed as the best beekeeper around. Nobody around here had ever seen a lady beekeeper till her.

The Safety And Welfare Of The Wild Animals
The question if wild animals should live in city zoos is a question that has come up quite often. There
are multiple opinions, pros and cons to the safety and welfare of the wild animals. Zoo officials do not
take notice of the harm in keeping the wild animals away from their natural environment, they
contemplate it more as keeping the animals in a safe environment where they can thrive and acquire
the utmost care. Not everybody has the same mindset on this issue. Many animal rights activist groups
and well educated citizens continue to educate the media on the topic of the harm and dangers of
keeping wild animals in zoos. They strongly feel it is animal abuse to keep such animals contained in
a space that is not even close to the magnitude that they require and accustomed to. Animal rights
activists also feel that it is mentally unhealthy and is the cause for the unpredictable behavior of the
animals and the attacks that have taken place. Both sides have strong arguments and documentations
to support their standpoint.
Considering all my findings and looking at both sides I can sympathize with both zoo officials and
animal rights activists. Progressing into my research I had various mixed emotions and was unsure if I
agreed or disagreed with zoo officials and animal rights activists. As I did proceed with my research I
did come across some highly interesting findings, a few more appealing than others. I have no doubt

Evangelical Christian Definition
Over the year I met many people, and I made many friends, however, one of my best friends named
Carol. I met her twenty year ago. She is one of a kind person, and she is an evangelical Christian. I do
not know much about evangelical Christianity, therefore this is an opportunity to learn about this
religion.
Meaning of Evangelical: The evangelical comes from the Greek word euangelion meaning gospel or
good news. However, evangelical can be a person, church, or organization that is committed to the
Christian gospel message that Jesus Christ is the savior of humanity . Evangelical Christians believe
that God creates humankind, and Bible is the guidance. Christians also believe that It is the final
authority in all matters of doctrine and faith above all human authority (Merritt, DEC 7, 2015). In the
United States, Evangelicalism is an umbrella group of Protestant Christians who believe in the
necessity of being born again, emphasize the importance of evangelism, and affirm traditional

Hawaii Doesn t Dance Just Hula Essay
Hawaii Doesn t Dance Just Hula Hip Hop dancing is a revolutionary style that has spread throughout
America for over decades now. Going coast to coast and even over many oceans, especially the
Pacific Ocean in the state of Hawaii. The stereotype that all people in Hawaii are Hawaiians or that the
population lives in grass huts and doesn t know what a mall is, plagues the minds of mainlanders. So it
would be a big surprise knowing that these Hawaiians can be Hip Hop dancers too. The message was
shouted out to the whole nation when Hawaii s first Hip Hop dance crew Hype 5 0 competed on
America s Best Dance Crew season five showcasing their dance abilities against other dance crews
from around the country. Once this message was relayed, Hawaii was put on the Hip Hop map and
even more Hip Hop influence poured into the state with dance competitions being held, Hip Hop
artists increasingly having concerts, and having dancers from Hawaii travel out to the mainland
expressing their talents and not forgetting where they are from. The origins of Hip Hop dancing
occurred in the early 1960 s and comes from various cities within New York. Creating and
incorporating different styles within New York, they were able to construct a diverse culture of
dancing that would soon spread throughout the whole country. With dance styles such as uprock,
breaking, locking, roboting, boogaloo, and popping. Hip Hop dancing over the years improved with
these base dance styles to grow from. According

Human Rights Of The Middle East Essay
After the Arab Spring movements in the Middle East, which embodied people s demands for more
democratic governance, overthrew the leaders of Tunisia and Egypt, the revolt, in 2011, eventually
reached Libya where the central leader, Muammar Gaddafi, had exercised 42 years of dictatorship.
Such movements inevitably led to the suppression from the central government and Gaddafi launched
a full scale campaign in cracking down the opposition. The crackdown eventually attracted
international anxiety when sufficient evidence suggested that Gaddafi was planning a massacre of
civilians in Benghazi. Therefore, in response to such predicted human rights disaster, the international
community intervened in Libya for the universal cause of protecting human rights. And of course,
human rights protection has always been a fundamental principle for American leadership and such
intervention certainly manifested America s resolution to promote human rights abroad, although there
was time when the Untied States failed to embrace human rights. However, the disparity in policies
and other national interests among the western countries (especially, France, the U.K. and the U.S.),
the ignorance of the role played by the local Islamic extremists and the failures to stick to the UNSC
resolution 1973 and explore political alternatives eventually led to the turmoil in current Libya. In
fact, the political concept or mechanism for human rights intervention had already been discussed and
established

Political and Migration Issues Affecting Puerto Ricans in the United States
Puerto Ricans have a very distinct and complicated history. Their history is unlike any other
immigrants who migrated at the United States at any time. Their island became a focus of the United
States in 1898, when they won the island as booty in the Spanish American war. Puerto Ricans
residing in the United States have always had the dilemma of having to straddle both the American
and Puerto Rican cultures and Spanish and English languages. In my opinion, Puerto Ricans have

where they were able to find jobs in factories were other prevalent places. The later immigrants

Analysis Of Forest Mcdonad s States Rights And The Union
In Forest McDonad s States Rights and the Union: Imperium in the Imperio, 1776 1876, he simply
begins the book by stating the main problem that the United States faced during the first one hundred
years of existence: the state and national government authority were not easily separated. Before the
time period of which McDonald analyzes, the people of the future country, the United States, lived in
England, where the line between state and national government authority was clear. McDonald
mentions the Act of Settlement of 1701 where Parliament decided the plan of succession, and he
mentions how Parliament could not compromise when English colonists who were settled in America
questioned their right to tax or make laws for the colonists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Declaration of Independence is split up into three parts. The preamble states the beginning and the
purpose of the country, the government being put into place, and how the government can be
destroyed if necessary. The rather lengthy second part of the Declaration is filled with accusations of
the King of Great Britain of the time. The actual declaration occurs in the third part of the document;
in this part of the document, the states are declared free and independent where they hold the power to
levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances... (10). Yet, the union itself can only do these three acts.
The country s issue of determining where the states and the union s power ends and begins starts with
the first document of the entire existence of the United States. McDonald brings up the interesting
point concerning War of 1812 again dealing where the authority of the government and the states lie.
Many did not agree with going to war in the beginning, and even the votes in the Senate and the
House were pretty divided. Those in the New England states protested and refused to fight in the war.
According to the Declaration of Independence, the states are sovereign; yet, when the War of 1812
was on the horizon and without the approval from Congress, Madison issued for one hundred
thousand men in the militia to gather and fight for the United States against the British. The people of
the New England were furious; even the governor of Massachusetts hindered

  • 2. How Did The Medici Family Influence The Renaissance THE MEDICI FAMILY S INFLUENCE The Medici family were the most powerful citizens of Florence, leaders of the largest bank in Europe, and through strategic marriage alliances, joined many of Europe s royal families. They controlled Florence throughout much of the Renaissance, played a large part in the patronage of the arts and the political development of the city. They faced many challenges, had both positive and negative effects and they tried to have solutions to most of their problems which some did not work. This is an example of the Common Themes Theory. The Medici family had an economic problem of safety. The Pazzi conspiracy threatened the safety of the Medici family. Although it was a maxim of Medici policy to retain close ties with the Holy See, relations between Lorenzo and Pope Sixtus were not always cordial. The Pontiff was very displeased when Lorenzo s diplomacy achieved an alliance between Florence, Venice, and Milan, for such a combination was more than a match for the armies of the Church. Sixtus felt thwarted in his ambitions to expand the papal territory and uneasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to the late fifteenth century in Florence, the losers of political conflicts routinely faced exile as punishment for their perceived crimes. Following the Pazzi conspiracy of 1478, however, such political criminals increasingly received death sentences rather than banishment (Baker). This is an example of negative effect. The Medici family positive effects are seen through their patronage support to most artist. According to our text (culture and values), Cosimo s most significant contribution to the advancement of Greek studies was the foundation and endowment of an academy for the study of Plato (Cunningham) Lorenzo continued the family tradition of art patronage by supporting various projects and by adding to the Medici collection of ancient gems, other antiquities, and ... It s as if the world was falling on top of her. She s been with him for several years, and now those years have come to an end. The summer of 1990, Luz arrived to the Indianapolis International Airport. She took a deep breath of fresh air. Everything smells so different than it does in Mexico, she said. This is where her journey began, she decided to to rent some apartments in a place called Wind Drift Apartments and she lived there with her husband Raul, Her daughters Alicia and Aixa, and her son Carlos. She also decided to get a job at Zipp Speed Weaponry, her occupation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was time. The entire family was in the hospital room and then the doctor came to disconnect him. It would take about 2 3 minutes for him to die. The doctor said. But it only took a matter of seconds for him to pass. Raul s mom came all the way from Mexico just to see him, and now he s gone. Luz and everyone was downstairs in the hospital lobby mourning over the loss. The next following days were very sad, especially for luz. Luz wasn t just remembering the bad times and regrets, but also the good times and all the things they ve done together. Luz had to get support from all family and friends. Then the day of the funeral came, it was April 21st, 2016. So many people came, it was as if the entire continent of people were at the church. The name of the church was called the Living Faith Church and it was held in the auditorium. Luz was sitting in the front next to her family while the other guests sat anywhere else. A lot of Luz s friends showed up, even though one from a long time ago. The ceremony lasted 1 2 hours and everyone mourned over the loss. • 4. The United States And The Soviet War Change upended Europe many times in the latter half of the 20th Century. After World War II, with the rise of the United States and the USSR as the world s foremost superpowers, Europe split between East and West. NATO allied Western Europe and the United States against the rise of communism. The Warsaw Pact allied Eastern Europe militarily. This effectively split Europe into two competing camps that ensured relative peace for the following decades. In 1989, however, that changed entirely. With the borders and limits between East and West erased, Europe had to embrace a new identity. They had to create a new definition for what it meant to be European . The West had previously developed models and institutions that united multiple states, and communism united the East. When the two intermingled politically, economically and socially, there were going to be growing pains. The East had to integrate into Western institutions because of the fall of communism. Easterners tended to move west to find work and a new, higher standard of living. This placed a significant burden on the West as a whole. Spurred by the mass migration of people from the East to the West, the West responded by hindering Eastern states ability to integrate fully with European institutions. The revolutions of 1989 led to a movement of people westward, with repercussions resulting in the West. With the fall of Communist Regimes in most countries happening peacefully, Eastern Europe quickly entered a new, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Examples Of Altruism Altruism is the virtue of unselfishness. It is the principle and practice of concern for others. T ypically it is associated with selfless acts like volunteering and helping the less fortunate. Altruists are commonly stereotyped to those who ve given greatly to those in need, to the extent in which they seemingly put those in need over themselves. The Dalai Lama and Mahatma Gandhi are common icons for this theory. Pure altruism is the form of the virtue in which one can perform altruist acts while remaining completely unselfishly motivated. A circumstance of this would be donating money for the benefit of others with no personal self satisfaction or mental rewarding. An example of a pure altruist act is an innocent mother risking her life to save her young child, and dying as the result of saving her child. I do acknowledge a fair hearing towards this and agree it is morally courageous in our present western society. However, seemingness is a true factor that is predetermined in this sense. It s not the question of what the mother gains from death that s important, but the theme of absence gained from living. More specifically, the mom subconsciously concluded Dirk Willems and Thích Quảng Đức also come to mind. well, one can still feel rewarded and do something altruistically . It is just the claim that one can be sufficiently motivated to act out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Qualities of Heros in In the Time of the Butterflies by... How would you determine if some one was a hero or not? What characteristics would they obtain? Do you think you have hero like qualities? The Maribal sisters are three young girls who start an underground revolution against their very own dictator. This revolution is still remembered today. They realized the man Trujillo was not who he said he was or who he wanted to be viewed as. The group in the underground revolution were known as The butterflies. One Maribal sister, named Minerva was who I believe to be the true hero in the history of this event. She was responsible, stood up to Trujillo, and followed her dreams to go to college and obtain a law degree. Minerva was a responsible young lady. ... I asked papa if I could go along. P.12 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 66 here Minerva questions Trujillo to his face while all other girls just agree with him and whatever he may have to say. Yet again showing her string personality. He yanks me by my wrist, thrusting his pelvis at me in a vulgar way, and I can see my hand in an endless slow motion rise all mind of its own and come down on the astonished, made up face P. 67 in this situation, Trujillo invades Minerva s personal space and she slaps him because she knows who he truly is. Minerva stands up to him and does not let Trujillo treat her like the rest of the girls. Minerva is in no way a push over. This is hero like quality to have, she stands up for what she believes is right and will also go to the next level to do the things she wants to do. Minerva made it possible for herself to go to college and get a law degree. I want to go the university......I ve always wanted to study law. P.65 Minerva tells Trujillo about her wanting to study law, a trait that not many people think of women to do in these days. I m not interested in admirers until I have my law degree. P.66 Minerva explains to Trujillo that her law degree is more important to her than other things. She shows that she doesn t need or want a thing to do with him or anything that comes between her law degree. Minerva insists, though, that I give law a chance. P. 87 Minerva is perusing her dream of getting a law degree and explains to her sister that it would be good to invest in. The way that Minerva ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Stamp Act, Boston Tea Party, And Quartering Acts There were a lot of events leading up to the American Revolution. But there are three events that are important. These three events were the Stamp Act, the Boston Tea Party, and the Quartering Acts. The first event was the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act is when King George decided he needed to tax the colonies over in America because he needed to pay for the wars they fought (uniforms, weapons, food, shelter, supplies, etc.). So when he passed the Stamp Act, all the colonists had to pay a tax on paper like newspapers, playing cards, and regular paper. The colonists rejected the tax. They protested until King George repealed it. The second event was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was when the Tea Act has been passed. The Tea Act meant ... • 8. The United States Of The British Empire The thirteen colonies that were joined together to form the United States of America were a part of the British Empire. They were the product of an expansion of England. During the New World Britain had close to two dozen colonies. This was driven by religion, nationalism, and economics. The Roanoke colony of 1585, was intended to serve as a base that would undermine the Catholic empire that Spain had set up in America and advance the interests of England. Instead of following other overseas expansion of other powerful European nations such as Spain and France, English colonization wasn t the result of the government. Instead, the Crown granted authorized charters overseas to individuals and groups. In 1664, an English expedition seized the Dutch colony of New Netherland which the English divided into New York and New Jersey. Instead of following the Indians, who set up socially into groups of tribes to make it easier for travel and control purposes, the English set up into colonies. Colonial charters specified the land that a group had the right to settle. The English government, dismissed the rights of the Native Americans that already inhabited the land and claimed it as the Christian discovery. The charters granted authorized the creation of colonial governments. They had considerable freedom but were subject to some conditions, such as a provision that they not pass any legislation which violated English law. • 9. The Story Of The Search Essay The Story of the Search Sixth grade language arts class brought a painful experience that I never knew was coming. My class went outside to work on an independent reading project, and all of a sudden, I started to get extremely itchy. My skin, throat and eyes started tingling and throbbing. I rubbed my eyes without thinking twice about what was going on, I d never experienced anything like this before. I ended up itching my eyes so much that they started to get red, dry and inflamed. • 10. The Eruption Of The Volcano On August 24th AD 79 Mount Vesuvius violently erupted and buried the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. The eruption of the volcano was recorded by one of the only surviving eyewitnesses Pliny the Younger. He described the start of the eruption like this: On August in the early afternoon, my mother drew his attention to a cloud of unusual size and appearance...its general appearance can best be expressed as being like an umbrella pine, for it rose to a great height on a sort of trunk and then split off into branches, I imagine because it was thrust upwards by the first blast and then left unsupported as the pressure subsided. (Pliny the Younger, trans Betty Radice in August 30 1963). In the evening of the same day pumice began to fall form the sky. The streets of Pompeii and Herculaneum started to get covered by a layer of ash and pumice. The smoke from the eruption was so high that it started to block out the sun. Ashes were already falling, hotter and thicker as the ships drew near, followed by bits of pumice and blackened stones, charred and cracked the flames. (Pliny the Younger, trans Betty Radice in August 30 1963). Around midnight the pyroclastic surges started. A pyroclastic surge is an avalanche of pumice, rock, hot ash and volcanic gas, which rushes down the side of the volcano at 100 km/hour or faster. • 11. Toad Revisited Larkin This poem is Larkin s monologue about work. Larking walks through a park and even though he finds it an appealing and pleasurable sight, he would rather like to keep himself busy with work. He does not want to be lazy like the people at the park but would rather like to perform his duties meticulously so that when he dies he can have the satisfaction of having worked so hard. Toad Revisited is Larkin s mental debate in which he weighs the advantages and disadvantages of work and of leisure; and comes to the definite conclusion that work is preferable to sloth or to leisure unlike the people around him. Toad work refers to the easy work that people do that does not need much intelligence or skills. Their jobs are easy which therefore, in Larkin s view, makes them lazy. He is the opposite of these people as he is intelligent and educated which is why he needs a break and walks through the park unlike the rest of them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has accepted the fact that working for him is preferable to not working, and he actually asks the toad (work) to help him through the rest of his life as he walks down Cemetery road, which is a place of death. Larkin means he is going to work at his current job that he might not necessarily like until he dies, which gives us a sense that he is at ease with doing so he sees that the alternative is far worse (the alternative being the people at the park). There is therefore an acceptance of the toad work as being not only necessary but also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It clarifies the research objectives, research questions, and describes the significance of the study. Organization of the remaining chapters is provided towards the end of this chapter. We focus on the modelling of police reporting processes in Malaysia. The fact that everybody knows, under the law, people have the right to lodge a police report. In the past, the police would actually dissuade people from filing a police report some times. One could not get their schedule as to when those times struck and so that made it difficult and frustrating. They will tell people it is not required or there is no point because they will not investigate or take any further action, or give people excuses to send people from station to station until people get so frustrated, or just flat out refuse to take down the complaint. There are many reasons to file a police report. Some of the most common reasons are to ease of finding and arresting a suspect in a crime, adding serial numbers to statewide databases to recover stolen property and tracking criminal activity in various areas to prevent future crimes. A police report should be filed in the city or jurisdiction where the crime occurred. They need to get the most accurate information possible to conduct a thorough investigation. • 17. Franz Kafka Allusion Gregor or God? Comparing God to a vile vermin who is meant to repulse us can be offensive to many and is a task that is not lightly done. In Kafka s Metamorphosis, it is hard to believe any allusion to the bible because of Kafka s religion is Judaism. However, we see many different symbolism in the story that represent different aspects of the Bible and most importantly we realize Gregor can be a reflection of Jesus Christ himself. Franz Kafka used his ability as a writer to manifest an idea that Gregor could have been an allusion to the savior, Jesus Christ, mainly by providing equivalent scenarios found in the Bible. First of all, Jesus Christ was a caring man to ungrateful, difficult people, and this unvarying conflict is endured in Metamorphosis. God, his father, brought down Jesus to care and cure diseases of these unbelieving and malicious people. Yet, above everything else Jesus Christ loved and cared for the people on earth; despite this fact, Jesus Christ felt persecuted, He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent ... Due to the fact, that Kafka s religion is Judaism many argue that it would not be reasonable for him to write such a vivid allegory to the New Testament which is something he would not believe in. The Fifa World Cup Event The FIFA World Cup, as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world that comes around every four years, is often assumed by potential host countries as highly profitable. Current research, however, suggests that the economic growth experienced by these host nations due to the World Cup event is lower than the expectations they had. Specifically, a number of economists assert that no observable short term economic growth exists within the tourism, retailing, accommodation, and employment sectors of each one of the host countries (Allmers Maennig, 2009). As for the long term impacts, some scholars insist that the World Cup cannot boost the four sectors listed above (Baumann, Robert, Bryan Engelhardt, and Victor A. Some scholars even critique this claim, however, arguing that the new factors won t bring profits to host countries. In my opinion, the World Cup seems to give the allusion that it will benefit the economy right away in the short run, but this not necessarily true. • 30. The Safety And Welfare Of The Wild Animals The question if wild animals should live in city zoos is a question that has come up quite often. There are multiple opinions, pros and cons to the safety and welfare of the wild animals. Zoo officials do not take notice of the harm in keeping the wild animals away from their natural environment, they contemplate it more as keeping the animals in a safe environment where they can thrive and acquire the utmost care. Not everybody has the same mindset on this issue. Many animal rights activist groups and well educated citizens continue to educate the media on the topic of the harm and dangers of keeping wild animals in zoos. They strongly feel it is animal abuse to keep such animals contained in a space that is not even close to the magnitude that they require and accustomed to. Animal rights activists also feel that it is mentally unhealthy and is the cause for the unpredictable behavior of the animals and the attacks that have taken place. Both sides have strong arguments and documentations to support their standpoint. Considering all my findings and looking at both sides I can sympathize with both zoo officials and animal rights activists. Progressing into my research I had various mixed emotions and was unsure if I agreed or disagreed with zoo officials and animal rights activists. As I did proceed with my research I did come across some highly interesting findings, a few more appealing than others. I have no doubt in my mind that both parties are ... • 35. Human Rights Of The Middle East Essay After the Arab Spring movements in the Middle East, which embodied people s demands for more democratic governance, overthrew the leaders of Tunisia and Egypt, the revolt, in 2011, eventually reached Libya where the central leader, Muammar Gaddafi, had exercised 42 years of dictatorship. Such movements inevitably led to the suppression from the central government and Gaddafi launched a full scale campaign in cracking down the opposition. The crackdown eventually attracted international anxiety when sufficient evidence suggested that Gaddafi was planning a massacre of civilians in Benghazi. Therefore, in response to such predicted human rights disaster, the international community intervened in Libya for the universal cause of protecting human rights. And of course, human rights protection has always been a fundamental principle for American leadership and such intervention certainly manifested America s resolution to promote human rights abroad, although there was time when the Untied States failed to embrace human rights. However, the disparity in policies and other national interests among the western countries (especially, France, the U.K. and the U.S.), the ignorance of the role played by the local Islamic extremists and the failures to stick to the UNSC resolution 1973 and explore political alternatives eventually led to the turmoil in current Libya. In fact, the political concept or mechanism for human rights intervention had already been discussed and established ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Analysis Of Forest Mcdonad s States Rights And The Union In Forest McDonad s States Rights and the Union: Imperium in the Imperio, 1776 1876, he simply begins the book by stating the main problem that the United States faced during the first one hundred years of existence: the state and national government authority were not easily separated. Before the time period of which McDonald analyzes, the people of the future country, the United States, lived in England, where the line between state and national government authority was clear. McDonald mentions the Act of Settlement of 1701 where Parliament decided the plan of succession, and he mentions how Parliament could not compromise when English colonists who were settled in America questioned their right to tax or make laws for the colonists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Declaration of Independence is split up into three parts. The preamble states the beginning and the purpose of the country, the government being put into place, and how the government can be destroyed if necessary. The rather lengthy second part of the Declaration is filled with accusations of the King of Great Britain of the time. The actual declaration occurs in the third part of the document; in this part of the document, the states are declared free and independent where they hold the power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances... (10). Yet, the union itself can only do these three acts. The country s issue of determining where the states and the union s power ends and begins starts with the first document of the entire existence of the United States. McDonald brings up the interesting point concerning War of 1812 again dealing where the authority of the government and the states lie. Many did not agree with going to war in the beginning, and even the votes in the Senate and the House were pretty divided. Those in the New England states protested and refused to fight in the war. According to the Declaration of Independence, the states are sovereign; yet, when the War of 1812 was on the horizon and without the approval from Congress, Madison issued for one hundred thousand men in the militia to gather and fight for the United States against the British. The people of the New England were furious; even the governor of Massachusetts hindered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
