The Observer illustrated an interesting topic of taxation. New York Senator Charles Schumer has
introduced a call for a new type of taxation. He proposed a tax on customer service calls being
outsourced to another county (The Observer, 2015). While the tax sounds a bit odd at first, there is
actually for rhyme to the senator s reasoning. The senator s goal is to ultimately keep more jobs on
United Statessoil. Many jobs in the United States have been lost to cheaper labor overseas. This
proposal aims to bringing someone of those jobs back to America by implementing a high
taxation on customer service phone calls that are being answered outside of the United States.
Schumer s policy states, the tax per outsourced call would be 25 cents for the company. In
addition to informing the caller of this, companies would be required to release reports quarterly

Edwin Arlington Robinson was born in the village of Head Tide in the town of Alna, Maine, on

What I Learned From The Video Essay
Video Summary
What I learned from the video is the following.
Have access to my money
Know where important information is kept.
Have an emergency bag with important items in.
I have not thought about having access to my own money as such of a important step after a
disaster like Katrina. When banks are everywhere I never thought having access to my money is
such of important step to getting back on my feet. Most of the times when I visit my bank all I
need to have access to my account is my social security number.
Most of my important information like birth certificate, social security, immunization records, tax
documents and health insurance is kept in a brief case under my parents bed. This includes both
my parents and siblings. I think it would be better to turn this information into digital version and
save them into a thumb drive or even upload them to a safe cloud database in order to have access
to this information anywhere there is internet access. From watching the video, having access to
information like this is important to stablish my identity in order to get help like social security
benefits and FEMA benefits when a natural disaster strikes.
Also from the video I realized that having an emergency bag ready to go incase of an emergency is

In the summer of 2015 I took an emergency trip to Mexico, little did I know i d witness some

On November 13, I decided to analyze how the behaviours and body languages of males and
females during a bus ride by using participant observation as my method of collecting data (also
commonly known as ethnographic field notes). I did this experiment by taking the Translink #49
bus from the University of British Columbia bus loop at 1 PM in the afternoon to the final stop,
Metrotown Station and rode the same bus back to campus at 6 PM in the evening. I believe the
data I have gathered from this observationis very interesting because in Canada, there is an
emphasis on closing the sexgap between males and females by showing that there are little or no
differences (excluding the physical sense) between the two. Therefore, I was curious if there
were behavioural and social variations between the two sexes in an open space, and I thought
that observing other people s actions and body languages on a public transportation like the bus
would be able to answer my questions if there were differences . I would argue that we can learn
