Columbus First Voyage
His Report to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella Regarding his First Voyage In this report
Christopher Columbus writes a letter to the King and Queen of Spain. The journey to find the
new world and their first encounter with the natives that live on the island they landed on.
Columbus writes a full description about the names they gave to the islands and the scale of how
large the islands were when they sailed along the coasts. Of course he tells about the successes of
the voyage, but also describes the problems such as the Santa Maria sinking. Columbus wrote the
Spanish royalty to tell them that he believes the natives can be converted to Christianity. The whole

Dissertation on Uranium and its Isotopes Essay
1 Introduction
Uranium (U) has received much focus from scientists to government officials throughout the world
since the discovery of fission. With attention increasing on uranium, specifically the fissile isotope
235, ideas of controlling acquisition was brought forth. It was suggested by scientists of the
Manhattan Project that some organized system of control was needed on nuclear technology,
including uranium [citation needed]. The Acheson Lillienthal report (look up report) described the
imperfect nature of technology controls, and suggested an approach focused more on material
controls [citation needed]. While the current International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
safeguards system takes advantage of material controls, accounting ... Show more content on

1.1 Natural Uranium Variations in Geologic Ores Uranium consists of four naturally occurring
isotopes (238U, 235U, 234U, and 236U), with multiple oxidation states. Variations in uranium
isotopics are unique in that both chemical (redox interactions) and nuclear processes (decay and
volume fractionation) play an important role. Four oxidation states known for uranium ions in
aqueous solutions (+III to +VI) which usually exist as U+3, U+4, UO2+, and UO2+2 [Gindler,
1978]. Under oxidizing conditions, uranium is primarily present in the hexavalent (VI) state, which
can form highly mobile soluble complexes (primarily with carbonates) [Langmuir, 1997]. In a
reducing environment, however, uranium will primarily occur in the tetravalent (IV) state. U+4
tends to form relatively insoluble complexes and has higher sorption kinetics compared to the
hexavalent state [Langmuir, 1997].
With an increase in measurement capabilities, all three isotopic ratios (relative to 238U) have
been shown to naturally vary in some degree due to various factors. The first uranium isotopic
that was discovered to have natural variation was 234U/238U, the increased abundance of 234U
in seawater (~15%) perhaps being the best example [Chen et al., 1986]. Variations in 234U are a
consequence of an increased mobility of 234U relative to other uranium isotopes due to redox
interactions. Production of 234U occurs through О± decay of 238U, which subsequently results

The Importance Of Physical Education
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical fitness is vital for individuals of any age. Particularly, physical fitness is imperative for
youthful people ages twelve to twenty one. However, for teenagers to get an incredible action is
through school. Having physical instruction in schools impacts young people rationally,
emotionally and physically (Maclaren, 2010). It is imperative for students to take an interest in a
physical instruction class since it constructs an establishment for cooperation in exercises further
down the road (Barbieri, 2014). If the physical instruction educator shows age suitable
advancement aptitudes, the kid is capable of performing well. A great deal of these aptitudes loans
themselves to a tyke having the capacity to perform best in the classroom.
Physical training projects can involve students in exercises that test the brain of the pupils
(Physical Education New Zealand, 2008). Exercises, for example, bows and arrows and golf
include math aptitudes and also fixation abilities.
The chance to take an interest in a physical action all the time in schools may expand the odds
that a physically dynamic way of life will be embraced. Carrying on with a physically dynamic
way of life is critical to well being and health (Milne Smith, 1998). A school s physical instruction
division has the duty to enable students to be associated with and embrace an individual way of
life of normal physical activity. Physical movement is essential to a youngster s life in light of

The Problem Of Teenage Pregnancy
Like Amy and Loeber (2009), when it comes to the ecological paradigm of teenage pregnancy,
Corcoran, Franklin, and Bennett (2000) also believe one s socioeconomic status is a huge factor
that contributes to this problem. A person s socioeconomic status a lot of times determines
education, expanded family size, single parent household structure, and lessened resources in terms
of employment and income. These three authors claim that educational performance and goals
dictate the potential costs of child bearing at a young age. Their studies have also shown that
teenage girls relationships with the school setting and poorer performance in school serve a greater
risk for adolescent pregnancy. Corcoran, Franklin and Bennett (2000) confirm, being part of a
single parent household seems to act as a risk factor for early pregnancy. Among singe parent
households, conflict within the family, stress, and less monitoring and control of children occurs,
which the authors say can increase the risk of teen pregnancy. In addition, teenagers experiencing
family problems might be more at risk for influence by a negative peer group that could
potentially lead to motherhood at an early age. They also claim support is indicated for parental
control over teen activities as a protective factor against teenage pregnancy that a lot of times isn t
found in single parent homes.
Bentham (2012) not only considers a dysfunctional home background, but also inadequate parenting
as key

Current State Of US Economy
Current state of US economy and effect of business in Ohio. The American economy has
suffered the deepest and most protracted recession since the Great Depression. The financial
crisis that began in the fall of 2008 had enduring effects on economic performance. In the first
quarter of 2009, real gross domestic product (real GDP) fell by 6.4 percent. Real GDP fell for
four straight quarters, from third quarter 2008 through second quarter 2009. The good news is
that we have enjoyed more than three years of uninterrupted economic growth (Real GDP) and
falling unemployment since the recession ended in June 2009. Economic growth (real GDP) has

Katya Test Anxiety
Katya is a new freshman student who studies really hard to maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
Because Katya needs to maintain a 3.0 grade point average or above for her scholarship, she
experiences severe anxiety before each exam and she worries that the amount of time she studied
before test is not enough to get an A. In order to maintain her scholarship for next semester, Katya
must do well on her chemistry exam this semester. Because of this, she had a panic attack while
trying to study for the chemistry exam and the testanxietylevel increase tremendously. Test anxiety
is a type of Performance anxiety a feeling someone might have in a situation where performance
really counts or when the pressure s on to do well (Kidshealth.org). The reason why Katya
experiences test anxiety is because she puts too much pressure on herself and keeps thinking that
she has to get the scholarship for next semester and must do well on the exam.
I understand how stressful Katya feels when studies for the chemistry exam. During fall
semester, I took a Marine Biology class in campus. The lecture part of the class started at 7am to
8:30am and after the lecture, we also have a lab section, which started at 8:30am to 11:00am

really hard to get up during the cold weather, so I missed a lot of the lecture sections. In order to

Summary Of Pamela Sandson s Heartbeat Braves
Pamela Sanderon s Heartbeat Braves addresses discrimination against Native Americans
throughout the novel. When a high ranking individual of the Office of Education at the facility
that Rayanne Larson and Henry Grant intend to use for one of their projects informs them that
they cannot use the cite and that they should leave the grounds immediately, Larson challenges
him, asking, If we weren t Indian would you ask us to leave? (Sanderson 68). It poses an
interesting question, and one that forces Sanderson s audience to reflect on how ethnicity dictates
access to power. Later on in conversation, Grant asks Larson, Has anyone ever said something
trance to you about being Indian? (Sanderson 119), to which Larson replies, Some people are
taken aback that I don t have an Indian name. What s wrong with the name I have? No one ever
says to an Italian, What s your Italian name? (Sanderson 119). Larson draws attention to a poignant
disparity between the prejudices held against different heritages.
In her piece, Savage Desires: The Gendered Construction of the American Indian in Popular Media ,
S. Elizabeth Bird discusses how, in contemporary popular culture, American Indians have become
potent cultural symbols, and more specifically, Indian men and Indian women have come to fill
separate and different places in the popular [Caucasian iconography (Bird 62). Sanderson, an urban

Drama Improvisation
Drama Essay
To be good at improvisation, it doesn t really matter how talented you are, but more about giving it
your best shot
Improvisation is the art of being able to create ideas in a split second, with little or no warning as
to what you are making up. In drama the art of improvisation, and being a good improviser, is
absolutely essential. However, there are many different views on what it takes to be good at
improvisation. To be good at improvisation, it relies very little on how talented the actoris, but
more importantly, it relies on them trying they re very hardest to be a good improviser, on them
giving it their best shot. This can be determined by how hard the actor is concentrating, on wether
or not they have knowledge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Above all other factors of improvisation, having knowledge of the basics is absolutely vital. This
is knowing about the concept of make, accept, extend . This is where one person makes the offer,
it is accepted by another, and then is extended by the actors playing out the scene. An excellent
example of this was shown in class today, during an improvisation game. One group set up a scene
for another group to act in (this was where the offer was made), and in this scenario, it was a game
show. Straight away, the group that was actingpicked up on what scenario they had been put into
(this was where the offer had been accepted) and continued on with the scene without hesitation
(this was where the offer was extended). Another excellent, and hilarious example of make,
accept, extend was when in class, we acted out the scenario of waiting at a bus stop. Jerrah had
acted out that she was pregnant and in labour. Suddenly, Gabby decided she would be the baby.
Jerrah had to quickly accept the offer made by Gabby, which she did, and they both extended it in
an incredibly hilarious fashion.
Another important factor of improvisation is the idea of giving it your best shot to interact with
your fellow actors. Without interacting with one another, there could be no scene, no scenario,
nothing at all. When tyring your very best to interact with your fellow actors, improvisation is
definitely at it s best. This was seen during our

Examples Of Allegory In Young Goodman Brown
In the short story Young Goodman Brown, by Nathaniel Hawthorne there are many allegories.
The allegory that I m going to focus you in on, is how Hawthorne used Faith in the story. In the
story Faith is the name of Goodman Brown s wife. Throughout Goodman Brown s journey
through the forest he runs into a man who looks as if he is in the same social status as Goodman
Brown. The man tells Goodman Brown that he is late. Goodman Brown s response to the man is
that, Faith kept me back awhile (Hawthorne 62). This is where we see one example of the allegory
of Faith. We later learn the man he had just ran into was the devil, who has disguised himself in
human form. Before Goodman Brown left his house, Faith his wife told him to not go on this

My Life Changed My Character
The event that permanently changed my character happened as I was on a life changing trip to
Africa. For some background information, I learned about the trip a year before and was
immediately ecstatic. At first it was just going to be me with some family friends journeying to
Africa. With the personality God gave me, I was probably even more excited with the aspect of
being basically on my own. Ever since I could read and fully utilize my imagination, the unsocial
life of living in the abundant fantasyworlds that authors and producers have created throughout
the century has always been a solid thing to fallback on whenever an escape is needed. Also, the
sense of being utterly detached from my old life entirely was another huge factor in the building
of my anticipation. However, my dad got his schedule rearranged and thus an unforgettable
father son trip was born. If anyone were to ruin my alone time and me be happy, the one person
would have to be my father. The flights were going to be long and awful if it was not for a good
book that I picked up in an airport bookstore. I do not possess the ability to sleep well on planes.
Therefore, a long and enthralling book was perfect for me. Before I knew it the plane landed in
Kigali, Rwanda. My corrupted American view of Rwanda immediately vanished once I saw a
beautiful city on top of an even more beautiful plateau. The hotel car drivers were polite and
informative. They were also full of some great stories, but alas the

A Separate Peace, By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Humans should balance and understand the difference between good and evil. Good and evil are
the superficial ideas that permeate society in many ways. However, one does not get to do in
depth analysis so as to encounter such in lifestyle. As an example, at this point the planet is at the
verge of a war. Humans have completely different views and perceptions of the implications such
events would bring around the planet. There has always been an unending struggle of deciding
between good and evil. As humans, we have a tendency to do not understand or notice a balance
between them so as to achieve a positive outcome.
In any work of literary art, here are sides of good as well as evil; only can win one while not the
opposite does not and cannot be alive. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s stories, the influence of each
good and evil were associated with faith, sin and science; making pieces of work that are both
contemporary and difficult. Likely, the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles highlights the
two extremes of personalities and also the plan of war as a struggle between good and evil.
In Hawthorn s short stories like, The Birthmark , Dr. Heidegger s Experiment , and Rappaccini s
Daughter all have combined underlying which means and demonstrate an identical relevant theme.
He uses his stories to define his beliefs on the opposition between science, nature, and faith in the
way of our life. In all three of Hawthorne s short stories he rejected the idea of science

Prison Overcrowding Research Paper
Does legalizing drugs eliminate the problem of prison overcrowding? If so, how?
I believe that the legalization of drugs would actually come to reduce our issue of prison
overcrowding. I believe this due to the fact that the statistics present in the Federal Bureau of
Prisons demonstrates that 79,190 of inmates in prison as of April 28 of this year, being 46.2% of
inmates, are incarcerated for drug related offenses. That being said, this comes to illustrate that
almost half of our prison population is behind bars due to drug related criminal activity in which
legalizing such would come to signify that not only would this statistic cease to grow, but such
could also come to clear up 46% of our prison population if the legalization was to

The Pros And Cons Of Consenting
In 1993, five men engaged into activities, which to them only brought gratification and satisfaction.
However, it was evident when the Law Lords upheld the original convictions of the men under the
1861 Offences Against the Person Act for engaging in sadomasochism , that the law saw it
differently. All five men were fully consenting adults, who willingly and privately participated.
Still, the Law Lords held that it is not in the public interest that people should try to cause, or
should cause, each other actual bodily harm for no good reason. This decision, has become a very
controversial one, with many questioning its merits. This essay will therefore try to negate whether

investigation, let alone criminal prosecution. R v Dica also reinforced this point by expressing if
adults were to be liable to prosecution for the consequences of taking known risks with their health,
it would seem odd that this should be confined to risks taking in the context of sexual intercourse.

Difference Between Technical And Technical Writing
Writing is a medium of communication that is used to deliver the message to the readers. Writing
can be of different style. It can be in the form of technical or literary writing. Technical writers are
different from literary writers in terms of the use of language, structure, purpose, format, subject
matter and their intended audience.
Technical writing is a type of writing used by authors to convey technical information about a certain
subject. The audience of technical writing should have enough knowledge or understanding of the
topic, usually experts and professionals, because this type of writing uses jargons or technical
terminologies. Instruction manuals, user manuals and reports of analysis are some of the examples

precise and accurate. Information presented under technical writing has to be factual. Technical
writing must also include correctness. It means that it must be free from any grammatical errors
and it must follow the set standards. On the other hand, literary writing is distinguishable from
other types of writing because of its creative intent. This style of writing has the capacity to engage
the readers in their world of creative imagination. Literary writing appeals to emotions of the

The Theme of Young Goodman Brown
This essay intends to develop an interpretation of the theme of Young Goodman Brown .
To come by a clear notion of the theme of Young Goodman Brown is no easy task, thanks to the
confusing style of the author. As A.N. Kaul says in the Introduction to HawthorneA Collection of

Because Hawthorne was much given to evasions, mystifications, and prevarications of various

Evil becomes a monster with which he cannot cope. . . . F.N. Cherry discovered a source in one of
Cervantes Novelas ejemplares, The Colloquy of the Dogs, which contains all the important motifs
of Hawthorne s tale [ Young Goodman Brown]. It is the life history of the dog Berganza, who is
young and inexperienced at first, but gains insight into appearance and reallity, hypocrisy and
righteousness, trying hard, at the same time, not to become cynical, though, as a dog, he has every
right to be. The climax of his story is the meeting with an old witch, who. . . . (89 90)
I m sure that the close resemblance between this dog tale and Hawthorne s tale is not a very
complimentary testimony regarding the theme of the latter.
Terence Martin in Nathaniel Hawthorne talks about the difficult theme of Young Goodman Brown :
Assumed in the tale is a radical distinction between dream life and real life; the question proposed
to Goodman Brown is into which of these categories good and evil naturally belong. At the outset
of the story, Faith asks her husband to postpone his journey until sunrise and sleep in his own bed
that night. . . . Mulling over the guilty purpose that has brought him into the forest, Goodman
Brown recalls Faith s talk of dreams. . . . In the forest he goes through a dreamlike experience. . . .
The devil, furthermore, introduces a further notion of a dream. . . . Thus the counterpoised terms,

The memorial s walls point to the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. 58,267 names

Art Is A Catalyst Of Change
Art is a catalyst of change. It can confront both social and political issues as well as providing
people with a creative outlet in which they can express their innermost thoughts and feelings but
what effect can art have on our society as a whole? Artists today have the unique ability to
connect with people in a creative, innovative way that they can understand and interpret
themselves. With this ability, artists are able to express their own views as well as influencing
the views of others. Art is an immense part of our world so much so that we barely even
consider its impact upon us but just how significant is the work of artists in our modern day
society? It is believed that, in society, we can be controlled by art and it can be used as a weapon
to dictate the way we think and view things. Jazz composer and artistic director Tim Hagans states
that people are afraid of artists; they possess the power to encourage open mindedness,
individuality, and celebrate the importance of freedom of thought. That is why in any repressive
movement, it is the artists, regardless of their race, ethnicity or religious affiliation that are
neutralised first he told the World Artist Network. This, in terms of historical evidence, is true.
When Italy was under fascist rule (1922 1943), Prime Minister Benito Mussolini ordered
nationwide censorship and supervision of all art: radio stations, newspapers, cinema etc were all

Some Notes on Branding
I.INTRODUCTION
Branding is a plan for earning product reputation and for making sure that the world knows about it
and believes in it too.
Branding is the process by which companies distinguish their product offerings from the
competition. Brands are created by creating a distinctive name, packaging and design. (Egan
Thomas, 1998)
1st Brand name= Bass [beer], because British were the 1st with trademark registration.
Customers (particularly consumers) view a brand as an important part of a product and branding
can add value to a product. A brand can provide a guarantee of reliability and quality, in fact.
Ex. Chanel perfume bottle.

A manufacturer has four sponsorship options. It can launch the product as a:
A. Manufacturer s brand: A brand is created and owned by the producer of a product or service.
B. Private brand: A brand created and owned by a reseller of a product or service. e.g. Tesco Value,

пѓјHard to establish, costly to stock and promote.
пѓјHowever, they can find manufacturers with excess capacity that will produce the private label

shelves they go on.
пѓјAs store brands improve in quality and as consumers gain confidence in their store chains, store
brands will continue to pose a challenge to manufacturer s brands.
C. Licensing: A product or service using a brand name offered by the brand owner to the licensee
for an agreed fee or royalty.
e.g. a lunchbox manufacturer pays Sesame Workshop to put Sesame Street characters on their
lunchboxes.
Corporate brand licensing: The fastest growing form of licensing. A firm rents a corporate

e.g. Porsche sunglasses and accessories.

Taking a Look at Malaria
Proposed Disease: Malaria
What is malaria?
What exactly is malaria? Malaria is a disease caused by certain mosquitoes passing on parasites
when feeding on people. The most common malaria parasite and is known to be the deadliest is
plasmodium falciparum (figure 1). Once this parasite has enters the body, it takes a few weeks
before it multiply into thousands and infects red blood cells. According to Malaria No More, it is
also known that plasmodium falciparum is carried and transmitted by only female anopheles
mosquito and feed on people between the time of 9pm to 5am (Malaria No More).
According to Malariasymptons.org, once a person is infected with malaria or the parasite
plasmodium falciparum, they will experience fever like sickness. The symptoms include fever,
sweats, shaking chills, headaches, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
(malariasymptoms.org). If malaria is not treated right away, it can lead to serious health issues for
the person who is infected. It may eventually lead to kidney failure, seizures, mental confusion,
coma, bleeding due to blood clots and even death (malaria symptoms.org).
Malaria parasites were first founded in mosquitoes who were reserved in amber and was
approximately 30 million years old. It was known that parasites originated from Africa and from
those who caught the parasites from chimpanzees and gorillas. One of the earliest protections from
malaria were the Egyptians using large amounts of garlic and using bed

Consumer Spending Throughout The Seasons Essay
Consumer Spending Throughout the Seasons.
We are heading towards the season of spending, black Friday is just around the corner, with that
exactly 31 days after we have Christmas. Consumer spending should be at an all time high right,
with month long sales and new deals everyday as coined with the popular shopping destinations.
Now we all agree that there are four seasons throughout the year, we have the spring equinox,
summer solstice, fall equinox, winter solstice. In most firms, they also have something called a
fiscal year and that can be broken down into 4 quarters. Consumers are always spending throughout
the year, those spending habits change with the flow of seasons.

On the bottom of the tier list we have stuff like food, water, warmth and rest. As we go higher on
the list we find more psychological needs ones that can be acquired by spending. (Maslow, 1943).
Now you may be wondering why I bring up psychology in an economics essay and to that I say
marketing which I will explain how in ties in later. Wants would be and can be anything, more
expensive foods could be a want, more clothing could be a want. If we look at figure 1 you can see
consumption from the three basic needs food, clothing and housing. The most interesting thing we
can see from the graph is that nothing stands out as being a dominate quarterly for food and
housing other than the steady rise in spending with yearly progression. Clothing as it turns out has
since 2010 has always had a growth from fourth quarter to first quarter.
Quarters and Seasons Revenues Now Walmart is a good choice in my opinion for following
seasonal consumer spending, that reason being is that they spend a lot of effect to carter to each
season and holiday s, they also spend a lot of time on demographics catering to each as well. To
check this Google finance has a handy little tool that allows us to look at reported revenue for each
quarter. It shows us that since 2006, Walmart has always had a spike in revenue

Health Issues Of The Public Health Field
It is a matter of fact that women in the past and the recent present have had many public health
issues that were hard on them, and they had to deal with these problems more than men did.
However, they have overcome some of these issues, but there are still issues in the public health s
area women are still dealing with. Unfortunately, women s issues were only mentioned if they had
to do with maternity care only, and rather than that they were ignored. Anything beyond maternity
care was not on the spot for women, and that had them to go through a rough patch. In our class
we had different reading examples that showed the meaning of this one sided thinking from society
back in the days. Also, one of these reading examples was talking about how we should go beyond
this issue. Healthcare provider in the public healthfield or other are obligated to help people
regardless their gender. Neither women nor men ought to be treated differently because of their
physical or biological anatomy; and they should be treated equally rather than restricting them in
one category. Sadly, most of the issues that are concerned in the public health fields about women
are related on their abilities to be good human reproducers, and they focus on them most of the
time. For example, an article, which was written by Marcia Inhorn in title of Defining Women s
Health: A Dozen Massages from More Than 150 Ethnographies remarks this issue. She mentions,

Relationship Between Female And Economic Growth Essay
A Research about the Relationship between Female Rights and Economic Growth
Yingru Ouyang
April, 2015
Economics
Abstract
Previous research has provided robust evidence for proving the positive correlation between
education and economic development. However, those studies do not specifically analyze how the
female s availability to education rights has changed over time and the implications of those
changes in relation to the economic development. Furthermore, I will also discuss how women s
other rights change contribute to economic development. Initially, to assess women s availability to
these rights, I use administrative records from CIRI Human Rights Project. I find substantial
changes in the female s rights affect the economic growth between 2005 and 2014. Those changes
are used to conclude that the progress of women s rights has a negative impact on economic growth.
Keywords: (Women s economic rights women s political rights women s social rights economic
development)
IntroductionNowadays, women enjoyed their equal legal rights with men. But this phenomenon
was not the same as the old time. In a long period of time ago, most of the women in the world
are considered as people who do not deserve to have rights, no matter women in the richest
countries or the poorest countries. For example, in 1772 B.C., one of the most civilised countries,
Babylonia has issued the world s first law called Code of Hammurabi. Code of Hammurabi

The Relationship among Islam and Human Rights
The relationship among Islam and human rights shapes a significant feature of modern
international human rights debates. In present international events there is more relevant topics
made about Islam than in international law discourse. Professor Abdullahi An Na im is a scholar on
this topic who have written journals and books related to this subject. Muslims support that
governments have a responsibility to enforce law. In Islamthe people are not independent; God
alone is sovereign. Human rights, therefore, are to be enforced only as they reflect divine law.
Rights approved by God in the Koran are seen as unquestionable. There is a major similarity
between the rights proclaimed through international law. But where there is a difference, then
Islamic law is to be obeyed. On the other hand, few Muslims argue that the standards of Islam
encourage gender equality, but governments that have required effecting Islamic law have
distinguished between the rights of men and women. Moreover, Islamic teaching justifies this
distinction by arguing that men and women have rights equal with their different roles and
responsibilities in society.
First, the reason that Muslims argue for cultural legitimacy in debates addressing international
human rights law is because international human rights laws are not comprehensive of the values
and organizations of non Western societies and so these societies are less likely to apply with these
laws. Islamic thought on human rights are apart from

Photography can tell us a story of periods in history; fashion photography constitutes a historical
document that offers us evidence of the practices and ideals of a given period (H.Radner (2000)
in S.Bruzzi P.Church Gibson Fashion Cultures: Theories, Explorations Analysis, London:
Routledge, pp. 128 134). In the 1940 s photos were very staged, prim and proper and the models
were the children of the rich of that time, by the 50 s there were some social changes such as more
disposable wealth, to which the fashion industry responded by having studio lit photographs and
beginning to move away from static, manikin style shots. By the 60 s subject and style went under
transformation as a result of changes during the post Second World War era and the revolution of
the В‘single girl began. Fashion photography started to be shot outside with the model often

Fashion isn t fixed: it follows a repetitive cycle, which is moving so fast that cyclical ideas are

is an investment that has already been made and cannot be recovered. Therefore, it is the hard
money we made and paid for to risk the chances of enjoying it or not.
I paid $350 to go on a family reunion in Norfolk, Virginia. When we got on the bus early that

go to the book store we notice a new book saying 100 ways to make a fortune within a month.
Since we already paid for the other book, we are easily convinced that may this could be the right
book that actually gives us real ways to become rich. So then we buy it and still feel like the
information is not enough. We go back to the bookstore and look again. Since we already lost a lot

With a little bit of look into this question I found some exciting information that brings me closer to
an answer to this difficult question. The American Journal of Agriculture of Economics has
postulated that the egg has arrived first. Within the article they have done some mathematical
experiments on this case and have rejected the hypothesis that eggs do not cause chickens but that
chickens cause eggs, so plainly stateing that the egg was the first(25). So they concluded that the
egg came first. Walter Thurman and Mark Fisher provided this outcome after a series of surveys on
chickens and eggs around the agriculture market.
A forum at UCLA seems to offer more of an opposing view to this question. Scientifically the idea
that the chicken came first is more appealing. They tend to go along with the theory of evolution
provided from Darwin. UCLA students hypothesis that since chickens are a bird species and that
birds evolved from dinosaurs, the chicken would have to come first on the timeline. I tend to agree
Thomas, 3 with this because it would seem awful hard for a chicken to raise it self if it just came
from an egg. Also I believe in the theory that the chicken came first because of a more obvious
aspect. If you were to look at humans, we also come from an egg, even though it is not quite like

The Legacy Of Rock Music
As a young child, I remember spending a bunch of time with my family, but the most memorable
from my childhood would be playing music and singing at the top of my lungs to The Beatles.
The song I remember the most would be called, Yesterday , and this was the song my sisters and
I would choose when we sang at any karaoke place. The amazing melodies, and simplistic words
really caught my interest. This band has really made a big impact of how music sounds, and the
bands history will forever be a big influence to most individuals. In the 1950 s, the history of rock
music started out with famous music artists like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry, and
these artists became extremely popular because of their amazing stage presence and with the type
of music these artists were creating. As music evolved these artists had to change their sound of
their music over time to compete with the emerging types. These music artists became huge icons
that changed the history of listening to rock and roll music, and it was no longer just one way of
sounding, but how can the artists incorporate more depth by using emotional lyrics and learning
how to play instruments to add texture. The lyrics needed to be more meaningful, and the sound of
the music needed to be enhanced with more creativity. Unlike most musicians today, the sound
came from earlier music artists that were experimenting ways to tune their instruments, and lyrics
to create individuality styles. Instead of

Capitalism Vs Industrial Capitalism
What is capitalism? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary capitalism is an economic
system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are
determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are
determined mainly by competition in a free market.
Transitioned from mercantile capitalism later expanded to joint stock companies moving into
industrial capitalism. Industrial capitalism was larger in scale and different in practice. Joyce
Appleby s definition of industrial capitalism: An economic system that relies on investment of
capital in machines and technology that are used to increase production of marketable goods.
In The Wealth of Nations, published in 1776. Smith advocated that the production of wealth would
increase if people were allowed to pursue their self interest, with little intrusion from government. In
serving their own interests, people would serve the public interest, unconsciously, as if guided, as
he said, by an unseen hand. Capitalism is built on self interest, it s a system of give me more and
can never inspire admiration. Today there seems to not be a better alternative to capitalism, but anti
market feelings persist. The current market system is more proficient at constructing wealth and
fulfilling desires than any other system currently known. Capitalism encompasses the legal,

Black Robe Historical Analysis
Black Robe:
A Historical Analysis
Black Robe presents the story of a French Jesuit missionary struggling to stay true to his religion
while traveling from Champlain s fur trading outpost to a Huron Native American mission in
Nouvelle France during the 17th century. Father Paul La Forgue sets out on the 1,500 mile journey
with members of the Algonquian tribe and a young Frenchman named Daniel Davost, determined
to convert the savages to Christianity. Throughout the film, Father La Forgue faces the Algonquians
beliefs that he is a demon, calling him Black Robe , and even abandoning him for a short period.

Iroquois tribe. Eventually, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fictional sorcerer subjects Father La Forgue to the same historical treatment that the actual
Mestagoit applied to Father Le Jeune in 1634. Mestagoit tries to scare the demon Black Robe with
loud noises, tells the Algonquians that they should kill La Forgue, and chastises the Algonquians
for accepting the French s gifts of flints, pots, and axes.
A large inaccuracy in the film was the depiction of the Algonqians language. In Black Robe, the act
of learning the native language of the Algonquians is portrayed as a commonality to many of the
French. In reality, the native language was extensive and had extremely complicated vocabularies,
with many variations, especially among the various tribes.
Where the Algonquian and Montagnais depiction was based mostly upon historical accuracies, the
Iroquois depiction in the film Black Robe was based largely upon gross inaccuracies. While the
Iroquois were known historically for their brutality, the running of the gauntlet that the Frenchmen
and Algonquian Chief Chomina had to complete was one of the only true Iroquois practices
depicted in the film. The Iroquois in the film then deviate from history further to demonstrate
puzzling behavior in the scenes within their encampment.
Traditionally, the Iroquois take young men captives and give them to someone in the tribe that has
lost a loved one in order to replace the hole that had been left

Academic Dishonesty
Most people believe that people will cheat just because they are a dishonest person. Although,
scientists have done studies that have shown that most people will cheat under the right situation.
In James Lang s article How College Classes Encourage Cheating, Lang states, that 75 percent of
students have at least cheated once while attending college (1). Academic dishonestyis a growing
problem in college and there are many possible ways to fix it. My solutions are improving
plagiarism detection software and using it more often and increasing students knowledge on honor
code.
Grand View Policy on Academic Dishonesty Grand View University students are asked to sign a
code of integrity before the academic school year. The code of integrity is an agreement between
the student and the university to follow rules and promote academic honesty to make Grand View a
better place to be. The university then defines academic dishonesty as a misrepresentation of
personal efforts and honest work. This includes plagiarism, cheating, fabrication and facilitation of
dishonesty (65 66). For the first occurrence the student is under the discretion of the professor. A
second offense means that the student will be removed and failed from the course and they will
also be put on academic probation. After the third incident, the student will be suspended from the
university and the incident will be recorded on the transcript. Another offense will most likely be
expulsion from the university (67).
Solutions for Academic Dishonesty The first solution to help reduce academic dishonesty is to
implement honor codes and frequently revise them. In the journal Academe, by Donald McCabe
and Linda Klebe Trevino recognize the increase of academic dishonesty. McCabe and Trevino
surveyed 2,200 students at 21 different universities. Nine of the universities did not have an honor
code while the others either had a tradition, hybrid, or a modified code. Of the universities who had
modified codes, 3 of them were large public universities. McCabe and Trevino thought cheating
would be more frequent at these institutions because of their size. McCabe and Trevino found that
was not the case. Of the universities that were surveyed one third of the

Parents And Children Should Not Have Vaccinations
Some critics believe parents and children should not have vaccinations. There s still a debate
going on because the medical community does not agree. Healthcare professionals believes
everyone should be vaccinated and it is very important. They believe vaccinations protect you

For example, in Western societies, suicide is 3 times more prevalent in urban than in rural areas2, 3
5 times more prevalent in males than in females when measured through completion rates (though
attempt rates are higher among females)3, and 9 times more often associated with mental illness
than not.1 The explanations for these trends draw on psychological and sociological theories: it has
been hypothesized that men are more likely than women to use lethal means of attempting suicide,
and that the economic hardship, unemployment, and social disintegration that afflict city life make
suicide a greater problem in urban than in rural areas.4 In China, however, the trends regarding
gender, urban status, and mental health are surprisingly reversed: rural suicides outnumber urban
suicides by a 3:1 ratio, female suicides outnumber male suicides by a 3:1 ratio, and as few as 40%
of suicides are accompanied by mental illness.5
The Western perspective is accustomed to viewing suicide as intrinsically linked to mental health
conditions such as depression, and thus often examines suicide by considering individual
psychological factors. However, the unique patterns of suicide seen in China require an examination
of suicide not only from a mental health perspective, but also from an anthropological perspective
that is sensitive to social stressors, not

Why I Want To Be A Biofeedback Therapist
Immediately after the encounter with the man at the hospital, I started researching counseling and
therapy professions. I had most of the prerequisites to apply to the programs, minus an abnormal
psychology class. The following semester, I enrolled in Abnormal Psychology and found it to be
one of the most interesting classes I had ever taken. One day I was walking on campus and ran
into a past classmate from high school. As we exchanged conversation and talked about our future
plans, she informed me that her older brother was soon quitting his job at a private mental health
practice. Not long after that interaction, I was hired as the Psychologist Assistant at the mental
health office. During my time there, I became certified in biofeedback therapy, which was a great
way to combine my medical background with mental healthcare.
At that same time in my life, a close friend worked for a non profit foster care agency. She told
me they were hiring for a position mentoring foster children. I ended up getting hired and served
as a behavior skills coach for children ranging from ages five to fourteen. While working at the
mental health private practice and the non profit foster care agency, I was able to gain an
extensive amount of experience. I worked directly with case managers, psychologists, counselors,
and others who allowed me to observe each of their jobs. After more than two years of working in
the human services field, I knew I wanted to work with people and to help them

Importance Of Airfield Facilities At Washington National...
Airfield Facilities We have now taken a look at the process used to appoint the Board of
Directors, and sources of income. After that is all said and done it is time to take a look at the
beating heart of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport which includes the airfield, runways,
taxiways, and aprons, and all other facilities involved in operating an airport. This particular airport
sits on 860 acres of total land. Taking a closer look 733 acres are on solid ground while 127 acres
reside under water. The airport has 44 gates, nine of which are located in Terminal A. The
remaining 35 are in Terminal B/C. There are currently three runways on the airfield that form a

DCA was considered the last word in airports upon initial construction. It combined the latest and

Terminal A opened in 1941 along with the airport. The airport facility was originally 115,000
square feet. This changed in 1950 when the first major expansion was completed. They extended
the south end of the main terminal by 297 feet, adding 25,110 square feet of total space. As the
airport traffic started to grow, they saw a need to expand even further. The next addition is
referred to as the south finger was added about five years later. The south finger increased the
terminal by an additional 9,979 square feet and additionally provided aircraft gates and loading
positions that were desperately needed. Growth in the annual number of passengers continued
steadily eventually prompting the construction of the North Terminal. The North Terminal was
opened in October of 1958 adding an additional 7,264 square feet. Moving forward they opened a
772 foot long enclosed passageway between the main and north terminals. Terminal B/C was the
next major expansion Reagan National went through. It opened on July 27, 1997 and was one

Idiom In The Great Gatsby
The old saying, two steps forward, one step back originates from a Chinese anecdote, illustrating
a frog trying to climb out of a well. Every two steps the frog makes up the wall of the well, he
falls back another, essentially making the process exhausting and seemingly worthless. However,
the frog eventually reaches the top and recognizes that his hard work has paid off. The strenuous
process this idiom captures reflects the realities of the American Dream during the 1920s: a time
where people were encouraged to become successful regardless of their attributes. Although these
beliefs promised beauty and prosperity for all, its idealistic nature compelled individuals to fall
short of these standards. F. Scott Fitzgerald, an American novelist... Show more content on

However, the contrast between the very wealthy upper class and the suffering lower class reveals
this progress is an illusion. F. Scott Fitzgerald uses his novel to expose the flaws in the idealistic
American Dream and in doing so, Fitzgerald foreshadows the destructive events following the
1920s. The eyes of T.J. Eckleburg in the Valley of Ashes are illustrated as seeing the realities of
America during the twenties, alluding to the Great Depression as a result of the wealthy
suppressing the poor. However, although Fitzgerald is able to understand this reality, [he] knows
that there is greatness to our country and our idealism, (Hearne). He encourages individuals to
continuously run faster, stretch our arms farther, demonstrating advancement is necessary and
retrogression is normal (Chapter 9). This gradual process demonstrates the concept of taking two

The Woman’s Christian Temperance Union and the Creation...
The Woman s Christian Temperance Union and the Creation of a Politicized Female Reform Culture
In 1879, a group of evangelical churchwomen, all members of the Illinois Woman s Christian
Temperance Union (WCTU), presented to their state legislature a massive petition asking that
Illinois women be granted the right to vote. The architect of this ambitious petition campaign,
which resulted in 180,000 signatures of support, was Frances Willard, then president of the Illinois
WCTU. In using her position as a prominent WCTU leader to agitate for enfranchisement of
women, Willard went against the express commands of the National WCTU and its president,
Annie Wittenmeyer, who had made clear only one year earlier that the WCTU would not... Show

Difficult because, as the early suffrage battles indicated, the membership was as varied as it was
large. Many WCTU chapters especially those in small towns and those in the South were narrowly
focused gospel temperance societies. Using moral suasion (e.g., affecting change through religion
and education rather than through politics), these chapters concentrated on ending the sale and
manufacture of alcohol at the local level. But other WCTUs especially those in the North and in
urban areas were highly politicized organizations committed to wide spread societal reform. WCTU
leaders needed to build a national organization that made space for both these extremes.
Between 1874 and 1879, the NWCTU was led by Annie Wittenmyer, an ex Civil War nurse and a
staunch anti suffragist. During her presidency, WCTU women were encouraged to hold prayer
meetings, organize and educate children about the dangers of alcohol, circulate temperance pledges,
do home missionary work among the poor and supposedly intemperate, and make their own homes
more attractive in order to counteract the lure of the saloon. Although Wittenmyer voiced the belief
that the world will halt or move in its onward march towards millennial glory, as we [women] halt
or march, she nonetheless cautioned women to be thoughtful and prayerful as

English Reflection
In my previous English courses, I had no knowledge of writing an essay, or even a proper
sentence. Writing did not seem like anything important in my life, or that it would affect me
anyway in the future. I had despised my own writing and loathed having to write essays for any
of my classes. When I had enrolled in Composition I, I had no idea what I was going to do to pass.
However, in class, we had done collaborative work, which had helped me progress myself.
Collaborative work had consisted of multiple students helping each other, sharing ideas, and
peer reviews. This was a change of pace for me since I had not done that before. In previous classes,
I had done individual work, which was solely myself correcting and working on my work.
Between collaborative work and individual work, I enjoyed working with partners and sharing
each other s experiences to benefit ourselves. Over this class I have developed my writingskills,
learned from my previous mistakes, and understood the writing process.
To begin with, before taking this class I would have grammar errors, low level word choices,
sentence fragments, contractions, and no sentence variety. The grammar in my essays would be
something that I had never worked on or learned from. My word choices were that of a middle
schooler and would sound childish at times. I had never taken the time to learn about the sentence
variety and combinations that were possible. My knowledge of sentence variety was limited to only
compound and

Randall Jarrell s The Knight, Death and the Devil inspired by the 16th century engraving by
Albrecht DГјrer is the perfect instance of ekphrasis ( to speak out Greek), which here, verbally
represents the piece of art. This means the poem is quite literally the description of the engraving;
which led to the poet s justified use of hyphenated moderators throughout the poem as a means to
apply special emphasis on visual descriptions. Jarrell s, description of the art object defines his
interpretation of the engraving. Choosing what to describe, in what order and in how much detail,

Lorraine Hansberry
Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun The characters in Lorraine Hansberry s play are very
significant in understanding the play. The characters are examples of they way Lorraine lived
day by day her live when she was a kid. The success of the play was brought out by the characters
and her way of keeping our interest with each one of them. They characters are very critical in
understanding the play. There were four main characters that made the play a sellout, Lena, Ruth,
Beneatha and Walter Lee. Each one of these characters had a dream to try to accomplish. The
Characters portray the plays meaning in the way the play evolved into a masterpiece. Lorraine

She is up set and smacks Beneatha when Beneatha tells her that she does not believe in God.
Mama tells her that if she lives in her house she must believe in God. Henry Hewes opinion was
that ^the play contained dramaturgical implications which were brought out by Walter^ (Hewes
212). Theophilus Lewis notion was ^the drama had a great sense of spiritual conflict in the area
of Walter Younger^s soul with an obbligato of social awareness^ (Lewis 216). According to
James Baldwin he thought this play was ^excellent and never before in the entire history of the
American theater had so much of the truth of Black peoples lives been on stage^ (Baldwin 55).
Many critics thought that the characters had most to do with the play an how the play was
perceived. Jordan Y. Miller thought ^A Raisin in the Sun is one of the greatly enhanced by well
ordered revelation of the events which are so important in the lives of the characters^ (Miller).
Also Lorraine Hansberry kept our interest by developing the characters through out the play. The
characters are people who collaborated with other people and confronting there confusion and
anger. Gerald Weales thought the play was old fashion and had almost no serious playwright.
However he thought ^the plays strength lied in the characters and the problem of Walter Lee^
(Weales). If the play was to be written differently it would have had no real significant meaning.
Amari Baraka another dramatist ^liked the play and

Socioeconomic Status Affects Development During All Stages...
Socioeconomic status affects development during all stages, but the infancy stage is affected
dramatically because the effects on health and wellbeing are at a crucial stage of life that affects
an individual throughout life. Infants born into higher socioeconomic status needs are met more
adequately than those of its counterpart infants of the low socioeconomic status. Infants needs
being unmet due to lack of resources have been linked to growth restrictions, as well as failure to
thrive. According to (Mcloyd,1998) Lower IQs, higher rates of perinatal complications, increased
exposure to lead are all factors that are linked to poverty in children s development. A family s
ability to provide is a huge factor in the growth of an infant. When those basic needs are stunted
the infant isn t allotted the full amount of resources hindering growth. Low income families are
at an elevated risk to not have adequate health insurance findings show that children are at a
higher risk for illness. Elevated neonatal mortality, risk for abuse and neglect, asthma are all
aspects of the correlation found in range tests Aber et al 1997. These are all biology of a

A Brief Note On Skiing And Snowboarding Is A Big Part Of...
Living in Colorado means that skiing and snowboarding is a big part of their culture, especially
since we are lucky enough to live so close to the Rocky Mountains. Surprisingly enough, I never
had the opportunity to snowboard or ski in my entire life. I did not have the chance since I was
raised in a Peruvian household that was never formally introduced to any snow activities. Peru does
not get much snow which exempts their culture from activities such as skiing and snowboarding.
When I was searching for an activity to do nothing sounded better than finally going to the
mountains and learning how to ski or snowboard. Now that I had finally decided what my
challenge was, I needed to find someone who was passionate enough about snowboarding... Show

To my surprise, the total price for all the equipment I needed was more than I had previously
expected, which was fine because I was genuinely excited to go snowboarding for the first time.
The rental for the snowboard, boots, instructor and entry tickets package came out to $149, as for
the rest of the equipment that I had to buy it was a total of $75 and lastly, I contributed $15 for
transportation; The grand total for the trip came to $339. That s right snowboarding isn t cheap for
beginners.
Once we finally arrived at the resort we were surrounded by cool chilly air and snow, we had an
amazing view of the mountains and crisp green pine trees all around us, which was
breathtaking. This was also a great opportunity for me to take as many pictures as I could of the
amazing mountains around me. Thankfully that day there were no harsh winds and the slopes
were not icy yet since this was towards the end of March. In order to get our tickets and find our
instructor we had to enter this cabin like building; the bottom floor was where we picked up our
tickets and tried on boots, the upstairs they had a dining area where they had delicious hot dogs
and cookies.
After filling out the paperwork the nice women at the ticket counter gave us, we bought our tickets
and were told where to go for our appointment with an instructor whose name was Derek Wineman.

Smirnov Vodka Empire in The King of Vodka
Although the King of Vodka concerns itself with a different time period and a distant land, the
history of founding and eventual disintegration of the Smirnov Vodka Empire seems resonant in
today s business environment. The famous brand was built in one of the most tumultuous periods
in Russian history, yet the founder had struggled with many of the same business problems we see
today.
In 1831, Pyotr A. Smirnov was born to illiterate Russian serfs in a village so remote that walking at
night required clanking metal sticks together to scare off the wolves hidden in the forest. Smirnov
spent his childhood during one of Russia s worst cholera epidemics. However, vodka was his ticket
out of this peasant life. Settling in Moscow during the reforms that began with emancipation, his
genius grassroots marketing popularized his products and established his brand. His life became
one of privilege. His ascent would have continued uninterrupted had it not been for a series of
devastating labor strikes, social uprisings, and a government imposed vodka monopoly. Ultimately,
the Smirnov lost it all, as victims of the Bolshevik revolution and the chaos it unleashed.
Fortunately for Smirnov, his family was ambitious. The success of uncle Grigoriy who made
enough money to buy his own freedom inspired a young Pyotr to move to Moscow and pursue his
own liberation. It was from Grigoriy that Pyotr was inducted into the world of entrepreneurship.
Smirnov s story is one of fierce

The Origin Of English Language Codification
The linguistic term codification refers to the process of standardizing and developing a norm of a
language (Revolvy, 2017). In addition, it means the methods of creation and use of the dictionary
through designing writing system and setting grammar rules. According to Einar Haugen
codification leads to minimal variation in form (Stein Tieken Boon van Ostade, n.d. 1994: p160),
therefore it reinforces a certain variety which has been selected and accepted. Even though
codification is the second stage in the standardization, it is ongoing process.
The origin of English language codification was back to the 16th century, when many of
dictionaries and grammar books had published with a view of teaching the language to Welsh
noblemen after the Act of Union between Wales and England in 1536. These dictionaries contained
a list of hard words, mostly loanwords which adopted and borrowed from other languages, or
sometimes invented. Robert Cawdery produced the first English dictionary in (1604). It lists about
3000 words, with a brief simple description for each. He aimed to codify a language, to let readers
understand hard words. (Bl.uk, 2017)
By the 18th century, scholars developed codification, due to considering it as a recognized activity.
For that authors and scholars such as John Walker and Thomas Sheridan started to write materials
so as to set down perspective norms for pronunciation and grammar. Unlike European countries
which established academies for codification,

  • 3. Dissertation on Uranium and its Isotopes Essay 1 Introduction Uranium (U) has received much focus from scientists to government officials throughout the world since the discovery of fission. With attention increasing on uranium, specifically the fissile isotope 235, ideas of controlling acquisition was brought forth. It was suggested by scientists of the Manhattan Project that some organized system of control was needed on nuclear technology, including uranium [citation needed]. The Acheson Lillienthal report (look up report) described the imperfect nature of technology controls, and suggested an approach focused more on material controls [citation needed]. While the current International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards system takes advantage of material controls, accounting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.1 Natural Uranium Variations in Geologic Ores Uranium consists of four naturally occurring isotopes (238U, 235U, 234U, and 236U), with multiple oxidation states. Variations in uranium isotopics are unique in that both chemical (redox interactions) and nuclear processes (decay and volume fractionation) play an important role. Four oxidation states known for uranium ions in aqueous solutions (+III to +VI) which usually exist as U+3, U+4, UO2+, and UO2+2 [Gindler, 1978]. Under oxidizing conditions, uranium is primarily present in the hexavalent (VI) state, which can form highly mobile soluble complexes (primarily with carbonates) [Langmuir, 1997]. In a reducing environment, however, uranium will primarily occur in the tetravalent (IV) state. U+4 tends to form relatively insoluble complexes and has higher sorption kinetics compared to the hexavalent state [Langmuir, 1997]. With an increase in measurement capabilities, all three isotopic ratios (relative to 238U) have been shown to naturally vary in some degree due to various factors. The first uranium isotopic that was discovered to have natural variation was 234U/238U, the increased abundance of 234U in seawater (~15%) perhaps being the best example [Chen et al., 1986]. Variations in 234U are a consequence of an increased mobility of 234U relative to other uranium isotopes due to redox interactions. Production of 234U occurs through О± decay of 238U, which subsequently results ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Physical Education PHYSICAL EDUCATION Physical fitness is vital for individuals of any age. Particularly, physical fitness is imperative for youthful people ages twelve to twenty one. However, for teenagers to get an incredible action is through school. Having physical instruction in schools impacts young people rationally, emotionally and physically (Maclaren, 2010). It is imperative for students to take an interest in a physical instruction class since it constructs an establishment for cooperation in exercises further down the road (Barbieri, 2014). If the physical instruction educator shows age suitable advancement aptitudes, the kid is capable of performing well. A great deal of these aptitudes loans themselves to a tyke having the capacity to perform best in the classroom. Physical training projects can involve students in exercises that test the brain of the pupils (Physical Education New Zealand, 2008). Exercises, for example, bows and arrows and golf include math aptitudes and also fixation abilities. The chance to take an interest in a physical action all the time in schools may expand the odds that a physically dynamic way of life will be embraced. Carrying on with a physically dynamic way of life is critical to well being and health (Milne Smith, 1998). A school s physical instruction division has the duty to enable students to be associated with and embrace an individual way of life of normal physical activity. Physical movement is essential to a youngster s life in light of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Problem Of Teenage Pregnancy Like Amy and Loeber (2009), when it comes to the ecological paradigm of teenage pregnancy, Corcoran, Franklin, and Bennett (2000) also believe one s socioeconomic status is a huge factor that contributes to this problem. A person s socioeconomic status a lot of times determines education, expanded family size, single parent household structure, and lessened resources in terms of employment and income. These three authors claim that educational performance and goals dictate the potential costs of child bearing at a young age. Their studies have also shown that teenage girls relationships with the school setting and poorer performance in school serve a greater risk for adolescent pregnancy. Corcoran, Franklin and Bennett (2000) confirm, being part of a single parent household seems to act as a risk factor for early pregnancy. Among singe parent households, conflict within the family, stress, and less monitoring and control of children occurs, which the authors say can increase the risk of teen pregnancy. In addition, teenagers experiencing family problems might be more at risk for influence by a negative peer group that could potentially lead to motherhood at an early age. They also claim support is indicated for parental control over teen activities as a protective factor against teenage pregnancy that a lot of times isn t found in single parent homes. Because Katya needs to maintain a 3.0 grade point average or above for her scholarship, she experiences severe anxiety before each exam and she worries that the amount of time she studied before test is not enough to get an A. I understand how stressful Katya feels when studies for the chemistry exam. During fall semester, I took a Marine Biology class in campus. The lecture part of the class started at 7am to 8:30am and after the lecture, we also have a lab section, which started at 8:30am to 11:00am every Monday and Wednesday. • 10. Summary Of Pamela Sandson s Heartbeat Braves Pamela Sanderon s Heartbeat Braves addresses discrimination against Native Americans throughout the novel. When a high ranking individual of the Office of Education at the facility that Rayanne Larson and Henry Grant intend to use for one of their projects informs them that they cannot use the cite and that they should leave the grounds immediately, Larson challenges him, asking, If we weren t Indian would you ask us to leave? (Sanderson 68). It poses an interesting question, and one that forces Sanderson s audience to reflect on how ethnicity dictates access to power. Later on in conversation, Grant asks Larson, Has anyone ever said something trance to you about being Indian? (Sanderson 119), to which Larson replies, Some people are taken aback that I don t have an Indian name. What s wrong with the name I have? No one ever says to an Italian, What s your Italian name? (Sanderson 119). Larson draws attention to a poignant disparity between the prejudices held against different heritages. In her piece, Savage Desires: The Gendered Construction of the American Indian in Popular Media , S. Elizabeth Bird discusses how, in contemporary popular culture, American Indians have become potent cultural symbols, and more specifically, Indian men and Indian women have come to fill separate and different places in the popular [Caucasian iconography (Bird 62). • 12. Drama Improvisation Drama Essay To be good at improvisation, it doesn t really matter how talented you are, but more about giving it your best shot Improvisation is the art of being able to create ideas in a split second, with little or no warning as to what you are making up. In drama the art of improvisation, and being a good improviser, is absolutely essential. However, there are many different views on what it takes to be good at improvisation. To be good at improvisation, it relies very little on how talented the actoris, but more importantly, it relies on them trying they re very hardest to be a good improviser, on them giving it their best shot. This can be determined by how hard the actor is concentrating, on wether or not they have knowledge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Above all other factors of improvisation, having knowledge of the basics is absolutely vital. This is knowing about the concept of make, accept, extend . This is where one person makes the offer, it is accepted by another, and then is extended by the actors playing out the scene. An excellent example of this was shown in class today, during an improvisation game. One group set up a scene for another group to act in (this was where the offer was made), and in this scenario, it was a game show. Straight away, the group that was actingpicked up on what scenario they had been put into (this was where the offer had been accepted) and continued on with the scene without hesitation (this was where the offer was extended). Another excellent, and hilarious example of make, accept, extend was when in class, we acted out the scenario of waiting at a bus stop. Jerrah had acted out that she was pregnant and in labour. Suddenly, Gabby decided she would be the baby. Jerrah had to quickly accept the offer made by Gabby, which she did, and they both extended it in an incredibly hilarious fashion. Another important factor of improvisation is the idea of giving it your best shot to interact with your fellow actors. Without interacting with one another, there could be no scene, no scenario, nothing at all. When tyring your very best to interact with your fellow actors, improvisation is definitely at it s best. This was seen during our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout Goodman Brown s journey through the forest he runs into a man who looks as if he is in the same social status as Goodman Brown. The man tells Goodman Brown that he is late. Goodman Brown s response to the man is that, Faith kept me back awhile (Hawthorne 62). This is where we see one example of the allegory of Faith. We later learn the man he had just ran into was the devil, who has disguised himself in human form. Before Goodman Brown left his house, Faith his wife told him to not go on this journey ... • 14. My Life Changed My Character The event that permanently changed my character happened as I was on a life changing trip to Africa. For some background information, I learned about the trip a year before and was immediately ecstatic. At first it was just going to be me with some family friends journeying to Africa. With the personality God gave me, I was probably even more excited with the aspect of being basically on my own. Ever since I could read and fully utilize my imagination, the unsocial life of living in the abundant fantasyworlds that authors and producers have created throughout the century has always been a solid thing to fallback on whenever an escape is needed. Also, the sense of being utterly detached from my old life entirely was another huge factor in the building of my anticipation. However, my dad got his schedule rearranged and thus an unforgettable father son trip was born. If anyone were to ruin my alone time and me be happy, the one person would have to be my father. The flights were going to be long and awful if it was not for a good book that I picked up in an airport bookstore. I do not possess the ability to sleep well on planes. Therefore, a long and enthralling book was perfect for me. Before I knew it the plane landed in Kigali, Rwanda. My corrupted American view of Rwanda immediately vanished once I saw a beautiful city on top of an even more beautiful plateau. The hotel car drivers were polite and informative. • 15. A Separate Peace, By Nathaniel Hawthorne Humans should balance and understand the difference between good and evil. Good and evil are the superficial ideas that permeate society in many ways. However, one does not get to do in depth analysis so as to encounter such in lifestyle. As an example, at this point the planet is at the verge of a war. Humans have completely different views and perceptions of the implications such events would bring around the planet. There has always been an unending struggle of deciding between good and evil. As humans, we have a tendency to do not understand or notice a balance between them so as to achieve a positive outcome. In any work of literary art, here are sides of good as well as evil; only can win one while not the opposite does not and cannot be alive. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s stories, the influence of each good and evil were associated with faith, sin and science; making pieces of work that are both contemporary and difficult. Likely, the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles highlights the two extremes of personalities and also the plan of war as a struggle between good and evil. In Hawthorn s short stories like, The Birthmark , Dr. Heidegger s Experiment , and Rappaccini s Daughter all have combined underlying which means and demonstrate an identical relevant theme. I believe that the legalization of drugs would actually come to reduce our issue of prison overcrowding. I believe this due to the fact that the statistics present in the Federal Bureau of Prisons demonstrates that 79,190 of inmates in prison as of April 28 of this year, being 46.2% of inmates, are incarcerated for drug related offenses. That being said, this comes to illustrate that almost half of our prison population is behind bars due to drug related criminal activity in which legalizing such would come to signify that not only would this statistic cease to grow, but such could also come to clear up 46% of our prison population if the legalization was to ... It can confront both social and political issues as well as providing people with a creative outlet in which they can express their innermost thoughts and feelings but what effect can art have on our society as a whole? Artists today have the unique ability to connect with people in a creative, innovative way that they can understand and interpret themselves. With this ability, artists are able to express their own views as well as influencing the views of others. Art is an immense part of our world so much so that we barely even consider its impact upon us but just how significant is the work of artists in our modern day society? It is believed that, in society, we can be controlled by art and it can be used as a weapon to dictate the way we think and view things. Jazz composer and artistic director Tim Hagans states that people are afraid of artists; they possess the power to encourage open mindedness, individuality, and celebrate the importance of freedom of thought. That is why in any repressive movement, it is the artists, regardless of their race, ethnicity or religious affiliation that are neutralised first he told the World Artist Network. In Islamthe people are not independent; God alone is sovereign. Human rights, therefore, are to be enforced only as they reflect divine law. Rights approved by God in the Koran are seen as unquestionable. There is a major similarity between the rights proclaimed through international law. But where there is a difference, then Islamic law is to be obeyed. On the other hand, few Muslims argue that the standards of Islam encourage gender equality, but governments that have required effecting Islamic law have distinguished between the rights of men and women. Moreover, Islamic teaching justifies this distinction by arguing that men and women have rights equal with their different roles and responsibilities in society. The Legacy Of Rock Music As a young child, I remember spending a bunch of time with my family, but the most memorable from my childhood would be playing music and singing at the top of my lungs to The Beatles. The song I remember the most would be called, Yesterday , and this was the song my sisters and I would choose when we sang at any karaoke place. The amazing melodies, and simplistic words really caught my interest. This band has really made a big impact of how music sounds, and the bands history will forever be a big influence to most individuals. In the 1950 s, the history of rock music started out with famous music artists like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry, and these artists became extremely popular because of their amazing stage presence and with the type of music these artists were creating. As music evolved these artists had to change their sound of their music over time to compete with the emerging types. These music artists became huge icons that changed the history of listening to rock and roll music, and it was no longer just one way of sounding, but how can the artists incorporate more depth by using emotional lyrics and learning how to play instruments to add texture. The lyrics needed to be more meaningful, and the sound of the music needed to be enhanced with more creativity. Unlike most musicians today, the sound came from earlier music artists that were experimenting ways to tune their instruments, and lyrics to create individuality styles. Instead of ... • 35. Capitalism Vs Industrial Capitalism What is capitalism? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary capitalism is an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market. Transitioned from mercantile capitalism later expanded to joint stock companies moving into industrial capitalism. Industrial capitalism was larger in scale and different in practice. Joyce Appleby s definition of industrial capitalism: An economic system that relies on investment of capital in machines and technology that are used to increase production of marketable goods. In The Wealth of Nations, published in 1776. Smith advocated that the production of wealth would increase if people were allowed to pursue their self interest, with little intrusion from government. In serving their own interests, people would serve the public interest, unconsciously, as if guided, as he said, by an unseen hand. Capitalism is built on self interest, it s a system of give me more and can never inspire admiration. Today there seems to not be a better alternative to capitalism, but anti market feelings persist. Black Robe Historical Analysis Black Robe: A Historical Analysis Black Robe presents the story of a French Jesuit missionary struggling to stay true to his religion while traveling from Champlain s fur trading outpost to a Huron Native American mission in Nouvelle France during the 17th century. Mestagoit tries to scare the demon Black Robe with loud noises, tells the Algonquians that they should kill La Forgue, and chastises the Algonquians for accepting the French s gifts of flints, pots, and axes. A large inaccuracy in the film was the depiction of the Algonqians language. In Black Robe, the act of learning the native language of the Algonquians is portrayed as a commonality to many of the French. In reality, the native language was extensive and had extremely complicated vocabularies, with many variations, especially among the various tribes. Where the Algonquian and Montagnais depiction was based mostly upon historical accuracies, the Iroquois depiction in the film Black Robe was based largely upon gross inaccuracies. While the Iroquois were known historically for their brutality, the running of the gauntlet that the Frenchmen and Algonquian Chief Chomina had to complete was one of the only true Iroquois practices depicted in the film. The Iroquois in the film then deviate from history further to demonstrate puzzling behavior in the scenes within their encampment. Although, scientists have done studies that have shown that most people will cheat under the right situation. In James Lang s article How College Classes Encourage Cheating, Lang states, that 75 percent of students have at least cheated once while attending college (1). Academic dishonestyis a growing problem in college and there are many possible ways to fix it. My solutions are improving plagiarism detection software and using it more often and increasing students knowledge on honor code. Grand View Policy on Academic Dishonesty Grand View University students are asked to sign a code of integrity before the academic school year. The code of integrity is an agreement between the student and the university to follow rules and promote academic honesty to make Grand View a better place to be. The university then defines academic dishonesty as a misrepresentation of personal efforts and honest work. This includes plagiarism, cheating, fabrication and facilitation of dishonesty (65 66). For the first occurrence the student is under the discretion of the professor. A second offense means that the student will be removed and failed from the course and they will also be put on academic probation. After the third incident, the student will be suspended from the university and the incident will be recorded on the transcript. Another offense will most likely be expulsion from the university (67). Solutions for Academic Dishonesty The first solution to help reduce academic dishonesty is to implement honor codes and frequently revise them. In the journal Academe, by Donald McCabe and Linda Klebe Trevino recognize the increase of academic dishonesty. McCabe and Trevino surveyed 2,200 students at 21 different universities. Nine of the universities did not have an honor code while the others either had a tradition, hybrid, or a modified code. The rental for the snowboard, boots, instructor and entry tickets package came out to $149, as for the rest of the equipment that I had to buy it was a total of $75 and lastly, I contributed $15 for transportation; The grand total for the trip came to $339. That s right snowboarding isn t cheap for beginners. Once we finally arrived at the resort we were surrounded by cool chilly air and snow, we had an amazing view of the mountains and crisp green pine trees all around us, which was breathtaking. This was also a great opportunity for me to take as many pictures as I could of the amazing mountains around me. Thankfully that day there were no harsh winds and the slopes were not icy yet since this was towards the end of March. In order to get our tickets and find our instructor we had to enter this cabin like building; the bottom floor was where we picked up our tickets and tried on boots, the upstairs they had a dining area where they had delicious hot dogs and cookies. After filling out the paperwork the nice women at the ticket counter gave us, we bought our tickets and were told where to go for our appointment with an instructor whose name was Derek Wineman. ... Complexity Support Commentary Complexity to response to action SupportCommentary All right, friend, he said, standing about fifteen feet away, trembling, you just wait, you ain t heard the last of me yet, and he turned and went off down the quiet street (O Connor 155). Shoats is basically responding to the actions of Hazel. He is obsessed with money and sees that Hazel is a moneymaking scheme. O Connor does this to shame materialism in religion since people will believe anything as long as it sounds nice. She demonstrates this so clearly that crowds of people still go after him and he obtains so much support from his followers that in some ways other characters envy him. You ought to listen to me because I m not just an amateur. I m an artist type. If you want... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It never occurred to him that it might be a dangerous job (O Connor 185).Solace is only trying to take care of his family, but because he doesnot truly believe in what he is doing Hazel is upset. Hazel doesn t like that he will go to whatever length to take care of his family. Layfield is killed without due justice. His only crime is that he does what he does for himself inspite of others. This is only resolved when he decides to repent just before he dies. Tension Tension that comes from the conflict is exhibited before he dies. SupportCommentary Take off that suit, Haze shouted and started the car forward after him. Solace began to lope down the road, taking off his coat as he went. Take it all off, Haze yelled, with his face close to the windshield (O Connor 196)O Connor makes this such a compelling scene. Its like she wanted to show the worst of Hazel through Solace s hazing. O Connor brings tension by heightening the anger and fear between both of the characters. In this moment O Connor shows how even the somewhat best of people can turn evil and how the worst of people become somewhat innocent. • 55. Smirnov Vodka Empire in The King of Vodka Although the King of Vodka concerns itself with a different time period and a distant land, the history of founding and eventual disintegration of the Smirnov Vodka Empire seems resonant in today s business environment. The famous brand was built in one of the most tumultuous periods in Russian history, yet the founder had struggled with many of the same business problems we see today. In 1831, Pyotr A. Smirnov was born to illiterate Russian serfs in a village so remote that walking at night required clanking metal sticks together to scare off the wolves hidden in the forest. Smirnov spent his childhood during one of Russia s worst cholera epidemics. However, vodka was his ticket out of this peasant life. Settling in Moscow during the reforms that began with emancipation, his genius grassroots marketing popularized his products and established his brand. His life became one of privilege. His ascent would have continued uninterrupted had it not been for a series of devastating labor strikes, social uprisings, and a government imposed vodka monopoly. Ultimately, the Smirnov lost it all, as victims of the Bolshevik revolution and the chaos it unleashed. Fortunately for Smirnov, his family was ambitious. The success of uncle Grigoriy who made enough money to buy his own freedom inspired a young Pyotr to move to Moscow and pursue his own liberation. It was from Grigoriy that Pyotr was inducted into the world of entrepreneurship. Smirnov s story is one of fierce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. The Origin Of English Language Codification The linguistic term codification refers to the process of standardizing and developing a norm of a language (Revolvy, 2017). In addition, it means the methods of creation and use of the dictionary through designing writing system and setting grammar rules. According to Einar Haugen codification leads to minimal variation in form (Stein Tieken Boon van Ostade, n.d. 1994: p160), therefore it reinforces a certain variety which has been selected and accepted. Even though codification is the second stage in the standardization, it is ongoing process. The origin of English language codification was back to the 16th century, when many of dictionaries and grammar books had published with a view of teaching the language to Welsh noblemen after the Act of Union between Wales and England in 1536. These dictionaries contained a list of hard words, mostly loanwords which adopted and borrowed from other languages, or sometimes invented. Robert Cawdery produced the first English dictionary in (1604). It lists about 3000 words, with a brief simple description for each. He aimed to codify a language, to let readers understand hard words. (Bl.uk, 2017) By the 18th century, scholars developed codification, due to considering it as a recognized activity. For that authors and scholars such as John Walker and Thomas Sheridan started to write materials so as to set down perspective norms for pronunciation and grammar. Unlike European countries which established academies for codification, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
