How Discipline Is Not Easy
Discipline has always been, to me, a thought of growing in yourself or in this case growing in
your relationship with Christ. Discipline is not easy, in fact, it is hard, but the results are what we
discipline ourselves for. Celebration of Discipline was a very eye opening and insightful book in
many aspects. Foster, the author, describes spiritual discipline as an inward and outward reality.
Meaning, the inner and outward attitude of the discipline. The bible uses spiritual discipline to
describe fasting, prayer, worship, and even celebration. When Jesusspoke of spiritual discipline, he
hardly gives instruction of how to discipline ourselves spiritually. This book book gives more of
an outline/guidance to types of disciplines that could help you in your spiritual journey. There are
three types of disciplines discussed in this book, along with many sub categories within each type.
All these groups are used to help one form a more well rounded spiritual life. The types are
inward, outward, and corporate discipline. Inward discipline is a type of discipline that focuses on
your inner self/spiritual life. This involves things like praying, meditation, fasting, and studying.
Outward disciple is more of what you can do as an individual to discipline yourself spiritually, such
as simplicity, solitude, submission, and service. These are still self centered but more focused on
the outside actions rather than the inside actions. Finally, we have the corporate discipline. This

Independence In The Bloody Chamber
As a child, parents are the people who are there to protect and guide us through our path to
independence. However, the lessons are experiences we have to go through in order to fully
understand them. The Bloody Chamber, by Angela Carter, is tales about the main protagonists
going on adventures to find their independence and a sense of self and identity. Many of the young
girls in these fairytales grow up being guided and protected by a parent, but eventually, as innocent
girls grow into young woman, they go on their own paths. In the beginning of the stories, they are
all innocent and naive, but by the end, they come out to be independent individuals. Even though
parents are supposed to protect us from making mistakes because they know more... Show more

Wolf Alice is a human girl who was raised by wolves. She doesn t know how to talk or walk like
a human. When she was discovered by nuns, her wolf mother had been killed. She was taught
how to seduce men and constantly have to deal with the nuns trying to arouse her by poking her
lady part with a stick. Due to her lack of self recognition and inability to become a human, she
was sent to the Duke s castle to be his servant because the Duke is a werewolf. There she had her
first menstruation when she began to bleed (Carter 144) taking a step toward becoming a
woman. She had a hard time trying to figure out what was happening with her body as she tries to
wipe the blood off. Unlike many of the other characters from The Bloody Chamber, Alice
undergoes her metamorphosis without the aid or encouragement of another. She discovers her
sexuality and humanity not for the sake of another s love, but on her own. Menstruation can be
described as the first sign of womanhood because that was the first time she started to realize how
different she was; although, Wolf Alice didn t know what was happening because she has no
guidance or knowledge to this mystery, it took her many months to finally figure out how to
address this problem. Without the help of others, she was able to discover her true

12 Angry Men Character Analysis
In the movie Twelve Angry Men, Henry Fonda plays a character known as jury member number
eight, otherwise also known as Mr. Davis. Henry Fonda s role in the movie for many, may be
thought of as the most important character in the entire movie. Though this statement may be true,
the movie also involves eleven other characters who have huge contributions to the story line.
Throughout the movie, the audience watches twelve jurymembers discuss the alleged murder trial
for an eighteen year old boy who is being accused of murdering his father. All men, but one agree
that the boy is guilty. The movie 12 Angry Menmay cause some people to question their own morals
and beliefs, however the overall outcome of the movie truly shows the importance of optimism,
honesty, and standing up for what you think is right. Henry Fondaplays the role of jury member
number eight, also known as Mr. Davis.
This character that Henry Fonda plays believes that the boy on trial is not guilty. When questioned
by the other eleven men, Mr. Fonda s character never argued, yelled, accused, or even acted as if
he was right. He remained very optimistic and open minded throughout the entire movie. These
qualities his character plays can be things some people can apply in their own lives and use in
everyday situations. The next character that many people might think of as extremely important
would be jury member number five. This character is important because he relates to the eighteen
year old

Coming to Terms With Evil in Treasure Island Essay
Coming to Terms With Evil in Treasure Island Robert Louis Stevenson s novel, Treasure Island,
is a fast paced adventure tale about a boy developing into an adult and coming to terms with the
presence of evil in the world. Jim Hawkins is first portrayed as a na #239;ve and innocent child.
Throughout his adventures with Long John Silver, he matures into a heroic young man. Before
the pirates enter Jim s life he lives with his parents in a small secluded inn that they own and
operate. Up to this point he has lived a fairly sheltered life, completely devoid of adventure or
excitement. The beginning of Jim s pirate adventure is marked by the settling of Billy Bones at
the Admiral Benbow Inn. Bones is an old pirate seeking a safe place... Show more content on

He takes Pew to the Inn to meet with Billy Bones. When Bones spots Pew he becomes quite
anxious. Pew passes a paper to Bones and leaves. When Bones realizes that he has been given
The Black Spot he is so distressed that he suffers a fatal stroke. Even though Jim states that he
never liked the captain much, he still finds himself upset at his passing. He cries out for his
mother s help. This demonstrates that Jim is still just a child and is scared of the events he has
witnessed. Jim proceeds to tell his mother everything he has learned from the pirates. They both
become quite frightened and decide to leave the inn. They go to the village to ask for help but
no one wants to become involved in such hazardous business. Jim and his mother head back to
the inn alone to collect the money owed by the captain. This is where the initial development of
Jim s bravery begins. Jim also becomes responsible when he takes care of his weary mother after
escaping the inn. Since the death of his father, Jim is the man of the house and must grow into
the role. He soon demonstrates his bravery again by taking the papers from Bones s chest to Dr.
Livesey. He stops letting events pass him by, instead becoming an active participant in his life.
This is an enormous step in becoming more mature. When Dr. Livesey and Squire Trelawney
realize that Jim has found a treasure map, they decide to embark on a journey to collect the pirates
plunder. Jim is

Weaknesses Of Maintenance Administration System
where the maintenance administration systems in this industry can be progressed. The principle
weaknesses are found in the bolster given to center levels of administration in making an
interpretation of wellbeing strategy into a powerful maintenance idea and that into arranging,
systems and asset administration which give proper thoughtfulness regarding security. Suggestions
are made about reinforcing these ranges with a solid maintenancebuilding capacity in charge of
organizing the fuse of security into outline, into the maintenance idea and arranging and for the
taking in of lessons from episode and breakdown investigation, a capacity which can likewise
contribute emphatically to a monetary operation of the office. Some broad suggestions are made
about the administrative ramifications of these conclusions

Schizophreni A Major Psychiatric Disorder
Schizophrenia is a major psychiatric disorder that can be crippiling, and is one of top 10 disabilites
in the world (Bhargav, Nagendra, Gangadhar, and Nagarathna, 2014). Schizophrenia usually effects
males in the early 20 s and women in their late 20 s. Symptoms include: delusions, hallucinations,
disorganized thinking (speech), and abnormal motor behavior (mayo clinic). Even with proper
treatment patients still experience symptoms related to their disorder. Proper medication can help
with symptoms, but sometimes this comes with cost of side effects that make a patient not even
want to take the medicine. There is also the cost of paying for a doctor, which can be quite
expensive. The initial consultation can cost up to three hundred dollars with each subsequent visit
costing 100 dollars. There is also the stigma that goes along with Schizophrenia. I m sure everyone
has seen the man or woman walking down the street talking to someone that isn t there, this person
could appear quite normal with help. Schizophrenics are ordinary people that have a disorder, and
with proper treatment can function in society. As mentioned earlier even with proper treatment
individuals with Schizophrenia still experience negative symptoms; as a result a lot of individuals
with Schizophrenia are seeking add on treatments, including myself being diagnosed with

Ammu In The God Of Small Things Analysis
Emotional Alienation in Arundhati Roy s GOD OF SMALL THINGS By R. Sherin Infantia S.

Our society has created an identity for women since ancient days. Women are considered as an
weaker sex and inferior to men. Though she plays a important role in her life, she is not found as
an individual human being with all emotions and sufferings. She is supposed to live a life of
dedication, surrendering and devotion. In Indian fiction, the women are modelled with the above

Sexuality In Alice Walker s Everyday Use
Sexuality, as defined officially by the Oxford English Dictionary, is a capacity for one s sexual
feelings. Even as an official language dictionary term, this shrinks down the very broad term that is
sexuality; which cannot be discussed truly nor analysed fully without viewing gender and social
construction, especially in the ever diversifying 21st Century in which genderand sexuality have
become such a fluid construct. Alternatively, gender is defined as the traditional state of being male
or female by the English Dictionary. Yet again, the exact dedicated definitions of these terms do
little to nothing to comprehend the complex truth to the worldly understanding of them.
The similarity between sexuality and gender is the assumption that ... Show more content on

Not agreeing with the social norms can be critical to one s safety, wildly enough. The
assumptions that have been made of people of particular genders are likened loosely to that of
ones made upon people of varying sexualities. The history of exclusion and violence is a realistic
seriousness that comes with the territory of being queer or being of a questionable gender. This
paper was written in 1944 and remains relevant and important as of now. If one is of differing
gender, allowances are rarely made. A small example of many is the introduction of trans friendly
bathrooms have begun showing in public and while this supports the safety of a person of non
conventional gender, it sparks outrage with the next person who does not agree. A recently
proposed Indiana law would make it a crime for a person to enter a single sex public restroom that
does not match the person s biological gender, defined in terms of chromosomes and sex at birth.
(Suk Gersen). Even this article author, who should remain partial for the most part questions the
law by putting emphasis upon the assumption of biological gender, which is considered a construct

The Issues Of Immigration And The Efforts Schools
The issues of immigration and the efforts schools are supposed to provide for the country are
looked upon differently in respect to who you are to ask. At the federal level, the government
states that every child is allowed to obtain an education. On the other hand, the local state
government feels that they are able to vote on issues of denying education for all immigrant
children. Throughout this essay, I will look at several schools and districts in the San Diego county
area that are dealing with the issues of education for a diverse population, the demographics of the
school and neighboring cities they are located and the summarization of whether the school are

The city of Escondido has a history of controversy with policies that deal with the immigration
debate. In 1994, the state of California proposed a proposition that would deny social services
(education, health/welfare benefits) to illegal residents and would require state/local agencies to
report persons suspected of being illegal to the US Attorney General and the Immigration and
Naturalization Service (Proposition 187: Will it Save or Sink California?). Escondido Unified
School District (EUSD) was in a favor of Prop 187 that passed but ultimately halted at the Supreme
Court for being unconstitutional based on the status undocumented students are required under
state law to attend school until they reach a legally mandated age (1982 case Plyler vs. Doe, Rights
of Immigrants Stressed to Schools). Public schools may not deny admission to a student during
initial enrollment or at any other time on the basis of undocumented status; treat a student
differently to determine residency; Engage in any practices to chill the right of access to school;
require students or parents to disclose or document their immigration status (Rights of Immigrants

class? Why would a school jump into the federal issues and debates of immigration when the school
district is state funded and not federally funded? Contact was not returned to interview anyone at

Background of the Creators
Wolfgang Amadeus MozartMozart was born in Salzburg on January 27, 1756, to Leopold
Mozart and Anna Maria Mozart. He was the seventh of seven children. Wolfgang and his sister
Maria (the fourth of seven children) were the only children that survived. Mozart s father,
Leopold was a musician who oversaw Mozart and his sister s education. He took Wolfgang and
Maria on his many traveling tours and introduced them to this wide circle of friends and
acquaintances, some of which were Salzburg nobility and the archbishop. Mozart is known for
being a musical prodigy, learning to play the piano at age four and composing his first piece at
five in 1761. In 1761 Leopold took his son on tour and had his first public performance at
Salzburg University. He went on to play for many noted figures in Munich and Vienna in 1762.
The tour in Vienna was a great success and when the family returned to Salzburg in 1763 Leopold
was promoted to deputy Kapellmeister. In June of 1763 the Mozart family went on a three and a
half year journey to Germany, France, the Low Countries, England and Switzerland. After this the

Accounting Is All About The Way In Which Corporations Record
Accounting is all about the way in which corporations record their revenues and assets over a
certain period of time. Although the notion may exist that accounting is merely a recording
function, this is not entirely true. Rather, accountants also analyze the cost structure of certain
transactions and play a strong role in the strategy formulation of mergers acquisitions, for example.
Other responsibilities of accountantsinclude such activities as managing information systems,
tracking financial performance, and assessing tax strategies. Accounting is an exciting career path
that affords various opportunities in terms of career direction. One can enter the field of auditing,

The level of skill required to practice accounting is dependent on the specific position. Generally
speaking, however, most positions will require the ability to analyze information and synthesize it.
Accountants must be able to defend their position with logical reasoning, and use their
communication skills to exhibit fluency in their ability to discern between quality and faulty
financial statements. When one begins a career in accounting, he or she can expect a culture based
on teamwork. The path begins from the position of a junior member. This member must be able to
function as an independent thinker, as many analyses performed will be at the discretion of his or
her manager. Furthermore, the junior member must be able to handle the auditing function and
prepare financial statements. If he or she possesses these traits, the junior member can expect a
bright career. Recently, growth in accounting has increased the number of job openings in the field.
This is supported by bureau of labor statistics which demonstrate the growth. Although the
competitiveness has also been enhanced, if a person comes into accounting with the right skills and
business education, then he or she is positioned for a career of personal and professional
development. Some of the top firms include KPMG, Ernst and Young, Deloitte and Touche, Price

Media Censorship
April 30, 2011
Media Censorship in the United States
Censorship has existed for longer than we could ever imagine. One of the first acts of state
sponsored censorship occurred in 399 B.C. when Socrates, was executed for the supposed
common good of the people (Guarding Public Morality, 2010, p.1). Socrates was a teacher and a
philosopher in ancient Greece. His teaching methods were controversial for the time, and he was
charged with corrupting the youth and drawing them away from the Greek religion. As a result of
his actions, Socrates was sentenced to death by drinking a poisonous liquid containing hemlock
(Guarding Public Morality, 2010, p. 1).
As a teacher, Socrates had many students and one of those students, the Greek ... Show more

This increase in violence and aggression leads to more crimes being committed by adults. This
thinking leads to the theory that if there was more censorship, there would be less violence on
television, and there would be less crimes being committed (Arguments Favoring, 2009, p.1).
Those who are for media censorship are mostly conservatives who feel that violence and
vulgarity should not be on the television because a child is likely to accidently or even purposely
click over to that channel. Children s critical thinking skills are not fully developed and they
cannot comprehend information the way that adults do. Essentially, they feel that media
censorship is essential in society to protect children from lost moral values (Arguments Favoring,
2009, p.1). On the other side of the debate, those against censorship of television feel that it is a
violation of the Freedom of Speech which is the first amendment of the United States Constitution
(Anti Censorship, p.1). They argue that Freedom of Speech is a basic human right, and that this
should not be eroded or compromised through censorship in a nation which likes to call itself free
(Wilson, 2010, p.1). They also argue that the Freedom of Speech was not put into place to protect
only the speech that the majority of people agreed with, rather it was put into place to protect the
speech and opinions of all Americans (Anti Censorship, p.2). Those against television censorship
feel that it is

Moveable Feast Hemingway
Ernest Hemingway is one of the greatest American 20th century novelists. Born in a Chicago
suburb, he emerged as a writer quite early, starting his career immediately after high school. He
served in World War I as an ambulance driver. After the war, wounded, Hemingway returned to
the U.S. for a short time before settling in Paris with his first wife, Hadley Richardson. In his
memoir A Moveable Feast, he describes his years in Paris as a young writer, his relationship with
his wife and their infant son, as well as his circle of friends and acquaintances. However, it all

Everything else he did was but means so he could be more productive. His wife, his friends and
acquaintances, his hobbies were just a distraction, something he had to do. In the chapter Une
GГ©nГ©ration Perdue , Hemingway emphasizes that his particular writing process required times
of rest, lest his well of... writing dries up. The only time that he was not working was when he
could not work, for he had to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well.
Eating, drinking, reading, and even having sex with his wife were only something necessary to him
after he had written (12).
For any talented writer, writing opens up a new world, a new reality to live in. Hemingway was
not an exception: For him, writing was indeed an escape from objective reality. The way he
describes his writing process in the chapter A Good CafГ© on the Place St. Michel suggests
how deep he would wander far into the story and get lost in it. When he was writing, the whole
world around him would fade from existence; he did not look up nor know anything about the

Florence Kelley Ap Language
Florence Kelley is a social worker and reformer who fights for child labor laws and better
working conditions for women. At the National Assembly Women Suffrage Association in
Philadelphia on July 22, 1905, Kelley recites a speech about the issue of child labor laws. She
uses rhetorical strategies such as repetition of the many negative aspects of child labor through
specific examples, criticism of state policies, and emotional appeal. A combination of figures, logic,
evidence, and emotional appeal will help convince her audience that child labor is a problem.
Kelley utilizes factual information to assert her authority on the subject. She opens the speech with,

Kelley says, Last year New Jersey took a long backward step. A good law was repealed which had
required women and [children] to stop work at six in the evening and at noon on Friday. Now,
therefore, in New Jersey, boys and girls, after their 14th birthday, enjoy the pitiful privilege of
working all night long. Kelley s interesting use of the phrase pitiful privilege refers to the child
labor laws set by states. These children are allowed to work, to carry the burden of an adult on
their shoulders when they reach a certain age. The word pitiful is feeling sorry for someone,
while privilege refers to a granted right. Put together, these two words create a different meaning,
an oxymoron. The pitiful privilege of these children being allowed to work, but having to work
for so long is very problematic. Her effective use of this oxymoron, is criticizing the states, as
these rights they give to the children is only hurting them, when it should be helping. Kelley
heavily refers to states laws to show that they are responsible for the child labor problems, because
they allow the children to work in the first

The Importance Of Being A Working Mother
We live in a world where we are criticized for practically everything, from what we wear, how we
act, to the decisions we make. Being a parent comes with many criticisms, such as how you raise
your child, what you feed your child, or how much attention is given to the child. More controversy
lies on working mothersmainly due to the growing concerns for the childs well being. It is
important to see the negative aspects of being a working motheras well as the positive outcomes.
First and foremost the term mother must be addressed. In this _____ the term mother will refer to
______. In a study done, the mothers working schedule was evaluated in order to see if it was
correlated with the child s behavior. This study was mainly focused on low income mothers
working a non traditional schedule, the nightshift or graveyard shift. The results were what would
be expected, that children experience a higher aggression behavior if their mothers took a nightshift
job than if the mother did not work. (QUOTE) This is partly due to the fact that although mothers
are physically present when their children arrive home, they may not be fully mentally there. That
is, mothers who work at night may be exhausted in the morning due to the lack of sleep. Instead of
paying attention to the child, their minds might be wondering somewhere else. This then raises the
question of the quality of time spent with the child. Taking a look at the different working
schedules of working mothers we see that

Essay on Kokoro and the Parallels of Historical Events
Throughout history artists have used art as a means to reflect the on goings of the society
surrounding them. Many times, novels serve as primary sources in the future for students to
reflect on past history. Students can successfully use novels as a source of understanding past
events. Different sentiments and points of views within novels serve as the information one may
use to reflect on these events. Natsume Soseki s novel Kokoro successfully encapsulates much of
what has been discussed in class, parallels with the events in Japan at the time the novel takes
place, and serves as a social commentary to describe these events in Japan at the time of the Mejeii

society. In fact, Soseki may be trying to reveal there were Westerners who successfully accepted
Japanese traditions and customs. The narrator s awe of this Westerner seems to reveal and
highlight this point by his surprise that Westerners like this existed who were willing to adopt
Japanese culture in a non threatening fashion. The role of women is also depicted at length
within Kokoro in a few ways. As Sensei describes in his letter the way him and his wife came to
be married (her mother and father choosing her husband for her), this point is described by Duus.
Duus describes the heads of the households as the one to choose marriage partners for their family
members. He describes children having to receive parental permission before getting married. In
Kokoro this is highlighted as Sensei must receive his future wife s permission before wedding her.
In fact, her parents chose the Sensei as her husband before she or he even asked permission by

Water Is An Essential Part Of Human Lives
Water is an essential part of human lives. People not only need water for consumption, but also
utilize it daily in several ways; this includes bathing, washing, sewage/waste, watering outdoors,
etc. Water is essentially everywhere. Although access to water in the United States often seems so
simple and easy, water is not always in the form people see coming out of the faucet. There are a
variety of water sources on the Earth. Although from several sources, water has a distinguished
cycle on the planet. Examining the water cycleand the sources of water on the earth can help bring
a better understanding of water usage and available resources.
According to the NASA Earth Observation, over 75% of the Earth s surface is made up of
water (Graham, Parkinson, Chahine, 2010). The Earth s total water content is roughly 1.39
billion cubic kilometers, or 331 million cubic miles (Graham et al., 2010). As seen in Figure 1,
there are a variety of categories the Earth s water can be broken up into. Over 96% of the Earth s
water is made up of the five oceans (Graham et al., 2010). When examining water simply in terms
of freshwater, most of the reservoir comes from glaciers and ice caps. By examining these
percentages, a greater knowledge of the Earth s total water supply can be gained. These percentages
can also be factored into the water cycle to better understand how water rotates through the Earth
and the atmosphere.
The water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle, describes

Historical Influences On Catch-22 By Joseph Heller
Throughout my readings and research, I have been able to discover more about how literature
and history intertwine and influence each other. Joseph Heller, author of Catch 22, uses his novel
to teach others about the atrocities of war and their influences on society. Through his own life
experiences and his theme of imbalance of power, Heller is able to encourage readers, like myself,
to think a certain way about wars and discover more about his novel. Historical events influenced
Joseph Hellerin many ways when writing Catch 22. Similar to Yossarian, Joseph Heller was a
bombardier in World War II. Although Joseph Heller enjoyed his experience in World War II, he
did not feel the same about the Cold War. He believed that the government was

Information, Email And Online Commercial Without Leaving Room
Introduction
Information and communication technology has largely changed people s life in the modern
world. For example, studying abroad was too difficult to achieve in the past because of the long
time taken information delivery and transportation. However, now these problems can easily solved
by online information, email and online commercial without leaving room. ICT makes progressive
for the efficient for the public services providing through cutting the services providing cost,
enhancing the efficiency of the government and e participation for citizens to take part in the
election in a more transparent way. E government is defined by Kettani and Moulin (2014) as a
process of reform in the way governments work, share information and deliver services to
external and internal clients . The UN identified e government as utilizing the internet and the
world wide web for delivering government information and services to citizens (UN, 2003). The
first wave of office automation between 1960s and 1970s allowed massive reductions by cutting
clerical jobs, the second wave of automation changes in the 1980s and 1990s reflecting the
introduction of more complicated IT based procedures (Dunleavy, 2006:18). This essay will
explore ways how ICT promote public services in developed and developing countries and list
suggestions to use IT systems efficiently.
In the first session, the essay will indicate that ICT promoted the efficiency with the development of

Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
In respect to the narrative, the title of Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis is significant. A
metamorphosis could be defined as [an] [...] alteration in appearance, character, or circumstances
(Metamorphosis 2018) In Kafka s novella the main character, Gregor, undergoes physical and
mental alterations. For example, Gregor physically . . .transformed in his bed into an enormous
bug (Kafka pg.1). Also, his thoughts and actions hint to him being hard working and relied on at
the beginning of the story, while towards the end he provides less and is abandoned by his family.
He isn t the only one to go through a transformation. Other characters, such as Grete, Mr. Samsa,
and Mrs. Samsa, each go through their own metamorphosis as well. One

Cytological Screening
The focus of this essay is on the process that takes place in the pathology laboratory, where the
cervical samples are sent for cytological screening. A cervical cell sample that has no abnormal
cells is categorised cytologically as being negative (negative for the presence of HPV or risk of
cervical cancer). Alternatively, samples may be identified as containing borderline abnormal
changes, or having dyskaryosis (Health and Social Care Information Centre, 2013). In some
literature the terms dysplasia or CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) seem to be used in place
of dyskaryosis (Eifel et al., 2011), but NHS literature seems to make most consistent reference to
dyskaryosis. The extent of dyskaryosis is then classified across a range from... Show more content

The aim of this new method was initially to try to reduce false negative and false positive results
(Karnon et al., 2004; Siebers et al., 2009), as well as the number of samples that are inadequate
or unsatisfactory for effective screening (Arbyn et al., 2008; Siebers et al., 2009). In the
conventional cytology method, a woman s cervical sample is transferred directly from the
collection spatula onto a microscopic slide (Arbyn et al., 2008; Moss et al., 2003). This transfer
process seems to sometimes lead samples to be inadequate for screening because the transferred
cells are too difficult to clearly discern. This manual process does also, very occasionally, result in
false results, even when conducted by experienced cytologists. The liquid based cytology (LBC)
method involves a slightly different approach to the preparation of the slides. The cell sample is
placed into a vial containing a preservative fluid (Arbyn et al., 2008; Moss et al., 2003). This creates
a liquid suspension of the sample, which can then be poured onto the slide in a very thin, uniform
layer. However, debate remains over whether this method really offers a substantial improvement
over conventional cytology. The main points of contention surround accuracy and cost
effectiveness, with other arguments relating to patient anxiety and opportunities for HPV

6-Year-Learning About Baseball Research Paper
When I started learning about baseball. I started studying the game the most in second grade
during the winter because, well, I wasn t outside practicing. It was simply too cold and it
saddened me that I simply couldn t play the game due to the weather outside. So I got online and
went to MLB.com and I started from the 1960 s the end of the baseballgolden age. Which
happened to be the end of the career of my favorite baseball player of all time (Stan Musial).
Which is why I started there. It seemed like the perfect starting point. From then on I moved

Homecoming Sadness
Dark alleys frighten me, If I was ever to find myself in one I would die right there. Sadly, I know a
lightless alley. It s the place where my best friend was going to be killed, murdered, assassinated.
Did I want to know this information, no, but I was forced to.
It was in school the other day, I was walking to my second class of the day and I overheard my
friends name. It came from the boys locker room, so I stood outside listening to what they were
saying, they saw me and pulled me in. I wasn t ready for what I was about to hear, and I never

Applying A Rolling Admissions Process
As mentioned earlier, when our prospect applies to the four selected colleges from Figure 6.4, they
will utilize the LSAC as mandated from each institution. That provides for straightforward
management of those applications with submission dates synchronizing with the University of
Florida the earliest one. That way, all institutions can be concurrently applied rather than piecemeal
this process. Anyway, it turns out that some of the law schools in question employ a rolling
admissions process where the institution can potentially notify applicants anytime inside a
window of an admissions decision. As a result, if all material checks for completeness and
accuracy, doesn t it make sense to submit all materials as early as possible?... Show more content on

To begin with, applicants must send official college transcripts using the Registrar at specific
points in the process; initially as preliminary transcripts, followed by periodic updates and finally
after graduation. Likewise, registrants having professional appraisals directed from third party
principals on their behalf utilize the Letter of Recommendation (LOR) and Evaluation services
ultimately bundling them with other CAS documentation. Figure 6.5 below provides a list of many
or most requirements and optional items that might accompany our prospect s applications,
including the transcript release forms for the Registrar and evaluation forms for individuals

they overlook the obvious. An applicant should anticipate positive events just as diligently as
preparing for failure (via a Plan B). The significance of a rolling admissions process has the
potential for receiving notifications at different points in time. Understanding the acceptance/denial
protocols regarding the admissions process for each institution should not be disregarded. Another
aspect seeks to avoid waiting for a preference never materializing only to

Archetypal Hero
Introduction
Take a minute to think about your favorite comic book character or the superhero that you admired
the most during your childhood and adolescent years. To name a few, Batman, Spiderman, Harry
Potter, Hercules, and more were just some of the beloved comic book and movie characters that
were enjoyed by children and adults alike. They portrayed the traditional archetypal hero, which
was to conquer evil and bring peace to the land and to the world. Over the years, they have
become role models to children all over the nation, as children would often dress up as their favorite
character for Halloween or buy toys at various stores. Also, they were highly praised by society
because they were considered the good guy . However, what all these characters have in
common is that they are fictional. The depiction of the traditional hero in the media and literature
has had an impact on American culture for decades. From their brave spirits, to their brute
strength, and selfless personalities made the character appealing to the average person because it
gave this ideal almost perfect image of the person that people wished they could be. Despite the
fact that these characters and their qualities are completely fictional, the praise and the admiration
that the character received at the end of the book or movie due to their heroic deeds targeted
every person s secret desire, which is to be respected, honored, and accepted not only by family and
friends, but by society as

American Contrails Research Paper
When does a conspiracy theory no longer become just a theory? When it s the truth. Most of
you, I m sure, have seen the long white lines that run across the sky, that are left by planes flying
high above. If you think back to your childhood, or any time before 1996, most of you wouldn t

full of blue bird sky days, not a cloud in sight. Today, every time I look at the sky, I can t help but
shake my head in disappointment and disgust. Our planet is being sprayed, and our air supply and
skies tainted. The chemtrails topic is not a myth, it s fact. The evidence piles as high as the trails.
Numerous doctors have spoken out stating they were responsible for providing medical care
directly to pilots that were responsible for spraying. Tens of thousands of declassified documents
and admissions under different programs and agencies of the government exist that admit they have
conducted tests with both biological and chemical agents on unsuspecting American citizens....

Psychoactive Drug Addiction
A narrow definition of the term addiction refers to habitual psychological and physiological
dependence on a substance beyond one s voluntary control. Terms such as workaholic, sex addict,
and computer junkie arose to describe behaviors that have features in common with alcoholism and
other substance addictions. Substance addictionis a multi pronged system in which lifestyle has a
role but the biology of a person s body is a major factor. These substances, which are called
psychoactive drugs, are what people become addicted to and are described as chemicals that affect
mental processes and behavior by temporarily changing perception and awareness. There are many

Once GAMA is attach to the receptor sites on the protein neurons then the channel is opened and
the chloride flow freely. Allowing these negatively charged chloride ions to flow into cells causes
neurons to become less active and pulse less therefore the brain is sending and receiving fewer
neurotransmitters (McKim 158). As talked about earlier, different drugs influence each of these
neurotransmitters differently. Each psychoactive drug has different effects on the body and
different uses. The term psychoactive describes a substance that affects the central nervous
system (the brain and spinal cord), producing changes in a person s mental activity or behavior.
Psychoactive drugs may affect the way an individual thinks, behaves, and analyzes. Many popular
and widely used substances are psychoactive such as alcohol. Many Doctors prescribe
psychoactive drugs for different reasons. Among the most important medical uses are as anesthesia
for surgery and as analgesics (painkillers). Dangerous psychoactive drugs are believed to have

purposes it can eventually lead to addiction.

Gender Discrimination
Our social justice issue is gender discrimination. Gender Discrimination is a major thing going
on in our world today. Therefore, gender discrimination happens in things such as sports,
education, health, employment, laws, and in different countries. Gender discrimination was a
major thing in the past, and is still a major thing today. Men continually think women are weak,
and so women are targeted more in crimes. They also think that women won t stand up for
themselves, and women continually let men bring them down because they aren t brave
enough. In jobs they believe women won t work, and that women aren t capable enough to do
the job, so women end up getting paid less or have to work ridiculously short hours. Today in our
century, women are targeted more than men because they are considered weak. Being labeled
weak makes women are more vulnerable to at least one form of abuse. 1 in 3 women are abused
in some form at a time of their life by a man. Women are targeted for crimes, such as home break

Differences Between Weak Impermissibility And The...
In the aforementioned studies, an asymmetry is found between the footbridge and the bystander
cases which suggests that there is an independent reason to remove any asymmetry in the
personal bystander and footbridge cases. The results showed that participants were aware of the
difference between weak impermissibility and all in impermissibility. In the first experiment,
about 70% stated that is was not acceptable to violate a moral rule and all things considered both
in the personal footbridge case. We can see a recognisable distinction in personal and moral
cases, but this was not addressed in these experiments. In addition, a philosophical understanding
tells us that when a rule is broken, it is wrong to go ahead with that action (e.g. Fried, 1978). It is
clear then from both experiments that a difference between weak and all in permissibility is not
evident (Nichols Mallon, 2005). The results show that some people think that it is acceptable to
breach a moral rule, even one that allows killing innocent people. This reinforces the idea that
people are not absolute deontologists, and this is similar to the issues observed in the catastrophe
case. What is notable about the results is that people appreciate the recognisable difference between
weak and all in impermissibility. Moreover, the results show an independent mechanism for two
underlying ideas relating to moral judgement. One shows that people are able to minimise bad

Mutual Fund Cash Flows and Stock Market Performance*
During the decade of the 1990 s through the year 2001 there were some major shifts in the
deployment of investment assets. Based on a variety of measures, mutual funds grew dramatically
as vehicles for investing in portfolios of stock. Specifically net cash flows into equity funds grew
from $13 billion in 1990 to $310 billion in the year 2000.1 During that same period the number of
equity funds rose from 1,100 to 4,395, while the number of accounts in those funds increased from

The second explanatory variable in our study (M2) was the monthly growth rate of the M2 money
supply. This variable may be viewed as a measure of the change in national monetary liquidity.
Money supply growth also influences the stock market through its impact on general business
conditions and economic activity. The third flow related variable, monthly changes in the federal
funds rate (FF), provides information on the Federal Reserve s efforts to stimulate or dampen the
future growth of financial liquidity. Both fixed income and equity markets pay close attention to
Federal Reserve efforts to encourage or restrict economic growth through interest rate changes.
The final variable was an index of corporate profit growth (EPS). Earnings per share on the S P
500 index was available on a quarterly basis, and using interpolation, monthly estimates of earnings
were obtained. The growth rate of the estimated monthly earnings was calculated as the percentage
change from the same calendar month of the prior year. In essence we applied the same type of

surprise is 400 years old. A particular challenge that is often found in plays written from this era
that are presented to layman audiences, is the obstacle of understanding. I m sure everyone is aware
that the language that was used in 1600 s England is very different from what we use nowadays.
And when presenting this dramatically, you often find that in order to efficiently communicate this
language to an audiencethat isn t well versed in this language, players have to playthe characters and
words in a larger than life fashion to assist the audience. The company of Volpone did this extremely
well. Nearly through and through, the entire cast understood this and did a fantastic job of using
this tool to communicate the text effectively. The cast of Volpone also showed mastery in such
fundamentals of acting that often

Case 8.1: The (Mis) Behavior of Successful CEOs Leads to Their
Departures
Wilfredo C. Ilagan
Everest University Online
Abstract
This paper is an analysis of a real world case as it relates to the learning about managing
misbehavior. The Case 8.1, The (Mis) Behavior of Successful CEOs Leads to Their Departures,
requires answers to the following questions: To what degree do you believe the behaviors of the
featured CEOs constituted misbehavior and that reactions of the boards were correct? (Ivancevich,
J.M., Konopaske, R., Matteson, M.T., 2014). If you were on a board of directors, what factors

He deliberately used the company s funds to afford that affair and this should not be the character
of a true and ethical leader. It was just fair for the board to find another reason, other than sexual
harassment, to force him to resign.
Brian Dunn This CEO agreed to resign amid investigation into his personal conduct (Bustillo,
2012). A probe was made by the board into his conduct as a married man accused of having an
inappropriate relationship with a 29 year old female associate (Ivancevich, et al, 2014). This affair
did not only show poor judgment on his part but as well as impacting negatively the work
environment of Best Buy. It was just appropriate for the board to let him go.
The common denominator among these great and very capable CEOs is a woman. Just like
President Bill Clinton s much publicized, I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss
Lewinsky (Steven Nelson, 2013) affair and the recent CIA Director David Petraeus s resignation
after his confession of an extramarital affair, these CEOs succumbed to that saying, For every
man s victory or defeat, a woman is behind . It can be argued that this is a normal behavior or a
typical pitfall for ordinary men to fall in love with another woman. The huge difference is that the

What is Female Circumsicion Essay
Female Circumcision The World Health Organization defines female circumcision as a procedure
involving partial or total removal of the external genitalia for cultural, religious, or non therapeutic
reasons(1). It is commonly practiced by Muslims in Africa and various parts of the Middle East.
According to Loretta Kopelman, there are over 80 million women who have had some variation of
this procedure. Female circumcision is categorized into three types; Type one is the complete or
partial removal of the clitoris, type two removes the clitoris completely as well as some of the labia
minora, and type three is known as Infibulation, the sewing shut of the vulvaleaving only a hole big

There is no hygienic or medical benefit for circumcising a female. Also, a male is circumcised
shortly after birth, whereas females experience this procedure at much later ages such as seven or
eight. In 2012, the U.N. passed a resolution that condemns female genital mutilation, or
circumcision, as harmful to women and girls (Kolodny). This article argues that female genital
mutilation should be a crime, not a cultural practice, but even if there was some way to make this
practice illegal, how would it ever be enforced in the lawless countries that it is commonly
practiced. Cultural relativism is a concept that the norms, values, morals, and beliefs of a particular
culture cannot be judged as right or wrong, moral or not moral, by a culture that may not share the
same beliefs as the other culture. In the case of the article, Female Genital Mutilation: Crime or
Culture, because of cultural relativism, the practice of circumcising a female is not a crime, but a
cultural practice that upholds the traditions of that culture. The concept of cultural relativism also
keeps the practice of this genital mutilation from being judged by other societies, such as the views
that the people in the United States have against a procedure like this. People who want to continue
these practices resent cross cultural criticisms, seeing them as assaults on their social traditions and
identity (Kopelman, 221). In cultures

Producers who work for large film companies usually have experience both in films and
business. The job of producer can be approached from either field. A lot of money goes into
these productions, and the producer s job is to raise the money needed and see that it s spent
wisely. It s the producer s responsibility for ultimately turning a profit for the investors. A good
producer would recognize a successful show or movie while it s still in planning stages. A smart
producer spots a bad idea, more often than not, before too much money is wasted on it (CIC 154).

Theme Of The Signalman
The extract begins with a conversation between the narrator and the signalman. The signalman is
disturbed as he confides in the narrator, voicing his worries what does the specter mean? The
narrator himself is also clueless, as he begins to doubt the logical reasoning and sanity of the
signalman, therefore in this manner dickens continues to build the suspense leading towards the
story s climax, creating an air of confusion and mistrust in the process.
The signalman, in an increasingly desperate tone, continues to voice his worries. His constant
string of questions indeed shows how deeply horrified he is at the thought of the foreshadowed
dreadful calamity that is to occur. Dickens also weaves in a sense of helplessness, as the signalman
has no way or power to stop the events from occurring and this thought has made him deeply
paranoid.
In the next few paragraphs, the signalman continues to constantly ask questions, this emphasizes
the true extent of his trouble. It also alludes to the main overall plot of the story as the ... Show more

emphasis placed on this description by dickens is striking as it establishes him as someone who
makes sure to follow his duty and is aware of his surroundings, this will intensify the shock and
tragedy of him being unable to interpret the warnings pertaining to his own death. Thus, by
introducing such ideas and using words such as treacherous dickens reinforces the gothic effect of
the story and foreshadows future events. The narrator, satisfied with his choice resolves to return

Essay On Braling s Pov
Braling s POV But why so early, Braling? Smith asked me. It was about ten in the evening and
the sun was setting. I hadn t had a full drink all night, coming home from a restaurant with a bar.
This was the first time I had a night away from my wife in 10 years. I couldn t believe I got out.
How d you get away? Smith asked me, as if he was reading my mind. But the answer was a secret.
Mysteriously, I answered, I ll tell you in a minute, but responding to his question wasn t what
was on my mind at the moment. It was how I was going to reveal my secret to him. Luckily, the
subject changed. I explained how my wife blackmailed me into marrying her, and then decided
to ask him about how his relationship was. It s fine. Smith said briefly. I knew that this wasn t
the truth. I stopped walking, looked him in the eyes, and gave a slight nod to say, Go on.
Realizing that he had to keep talking, he continued. It s just hard to live with a woman who calls
you at work all day, and sits on your lap all evening, especially when you ve been married 15
years, you know? Seeing his distressed face, I knew he wanted to change the subject, so I put my
hand in my pocket. When I took it out, I heard Smith gasp and start wheezing, as if he were a
balloon flying out of control. But that is the ticket for the Thursday rocket to Rio! I could tell from
his voice that he thought Mrs. Braling would never allow

Delicious Sugar Cookies Research Paper
One of my favorite Christmas memories from when I was a kid is that my family would make
delicious sugar cookies at my grandma s house. She d make the dough the night before and the
next day my brother and I would turn into flour covered sugar fiends as we rolled the dough out,
pressed holiday shapes into and prepared crazy frosting colors to smear on each cookie after they
finished baking.
During the process of turning her clean kitchen into a cookie covered mess, I loved to sneak
pinches of the dough to eat raw. Thinking about the sweet, somewhat gritty textured deliciousness
is enough to make my mouth water even now. Since the recipe called for raw eggs in the dough,

Clinical Definition Of A Hallucination
The clinical definition of a hallucination is; a perception of something (as a visual image or sound)
with no external cause usually arising from a disorder of the nervous system (as in delirium tremens
or in functional psychosis without known neurological disease) or in response to drugs (dictionary,
merriam). A hallucinationmay be a sensory experience in which a person can see, hear, smell, taste,
or feel something that is not there.
Hallucinations can be triggered by many different factors; for instance, certain medicines that
doctors will prescribe for people dealing with Parkinson s disease, depression, psychosis, and
epilepsy can have side effects such as hallucinations. Just because there is a dictionary term for
what a hallucination is, does and how it affects someone does not always mean that it is always
an accurate definition. There is no way to describe a typical hallucination. These experiences vary
considerably in length of time, quality, and sense or senses affected. Some hallucinations only last
a few seconds; however some people that have been diagnosed with Charles Bonnet Syndrome
have reported their hallucinations lasting over the span of several days (Gale). People who have
taken certain drugs have experienced hallucinations lasting over several days. Albert Hoffman, a

(visual hallucinations). However, since these hypothesis have been presented none of them have

Marketing Mix And Telephone Operator O2
Introduction There is no single indicator of performance but a variety of different measures
which provide an insight into a telephone operator s economic, social, managerial and consumer
perspectives. These may relate to price, quality, user choice or efficiency. A good performance
in one service does not allow one to predict a favourable performance in other aspects and no
operator can claim to be perfect in all of these respects. In a highly competitive business
environment like the telecommunications industry, subscriber based service models are
something of a mandate In markets like these, business successes can be validated by a very low
churn rates. _Churn rate is a wide term and can be applied to a company s customer base,
revenue, employee turnover etc._ This is ideally a result of the deployment of successful business
models and a logical application of the marketing mix and telephone operator O2, in the recent

Classroom Design Analysis
The studio classroom here at RPI is unique in the way that students and professors interact with it.
The room was set up to cultivate open and creative thinking in order to inspire design. Due to the
interactive nature of the studio classroom, both professors and students frequently use the white
board when teaching or explaining class concepts. When selecting my project 2 product, I
connected my experiences with the uses of the classroom whiteboard and thought of a Whiteboard
Squeegee . Now that I am at the point in the design process where I analyze the potential users and
stakeholders, I narrowed down the user group for the whiteboard to studio professors and students.

This issue is brought to light from Donald Norman s different perspective, for people themselves
are often unaware of their true needs, even unaware of the difficulties they are encountering
(Norman 9). I have been using whiteboard erasers for my entire academic career and have
always subconsciously noted the fact that using them, especially on a large board, comes with its
issues. They can be tiring and difficult to reach and clean the entire board, due to the small
handheld eraser that has been adopted and remained relatively unchanged. The whiteboard eraser
in the studio classroom seems to have been overlooked by the user group perhaps for multiple
reasons, which adds strength to my cause as a designer. The ability to design for a group of
individuals who thoroughly appreciate innovation allows for my project to have a strong potential
impact. Initially, I assumed that my user group would contain but not be limited to people who
interact in a classroom. The fault in this thinking comes into play when defining the unique
characteristics of the user group. A generic classroom doesn t necessarily need a larger ergonomic
whiteboard eraser because it doesn t hold much value to them outside of its function as an eraser.
My target user group is in constant need of products and scenery that enhance the classrooms design
identity. Though a white board eraser may seem insignificant, it could inspire the design of

An Analysis Of Barilla
Barilla: An analysis of the Barilla family business
Pietro Barilla founded Barilla in 1877 it was a small pasta and bread shop in Parma, Italy and
becoming one of the biggest pasta manufacturers in the world. Barilla is a family owned company
that has been passed down through four generations. They have factories throughout Italy and other
countries. For many years, the pasta shop experienced significant growth and their fair share of
downside. They have high quality products that are marketed and produced in their facilities.
However, with any company does not matter how small or big they have their struggles. I this

Pietro Barilla was born on May 3, 1845, in Parma, Italy. He grew up with a family of a baker
who got him involved at an early age to have a passion for baking. Years later, Pietro became a
businessman that innovator in the food industry, which brought him to open a bread and pasta

How I Learned With Depression
Our designated driver is on the floor. With a mouthful of sharp beach sand in his mouth he stays
down and screams Darn! Disoriented and dehydrated I look to the top and I see my partners in
crime yelling at the top of their lungs from the roof of sun beaten lifeguard tower, Throw some
beer in his mouth! With smile football stadiums wide I look down at my bare skin. Covered
only by boxers, soaked by the oceans bitter cold waters, there I was; tears running down my
cheeks freezing like a nude fool. I had found what I was always looking for, and it turned out
what I was looking for I had the entire time. Growing up with depression can be hard. It can be
especially hard when you don t know you have it. I was informed of my depression after a series
of test and numerous trips to the doctors. I didn t enjoy many of things other people did when I
was younger due to my depression, but as I got older, dealing with my depression came to be
harder and harder. I showed no interest in anything or anyone. Things I ones use to love to do
no longer called my name. My guitar gathered dust, my skateboards corroded with the seasons,
my hopes to ever feel normal again gone. Constantly getting different medications was the worst
part. I never knew if that day I would be happy, sad, mad, or my all time favorite, suicidal.
Eventually I learned how to deal with my depression, given the right cocktail of pills that is. As the
years went by, it got easier to talk about my condition to

Frequency Adaptive Repetitive Control of Grid connected Inverters Rabia Nazira,b, Keliang
Zhoub, Neville R. Watsonb, Alan Woodb a Electrical Engineering Department, Lahore College

University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. Abstract Grid connected inverters
(GCI) are widely used to feed power from renewable energy distributed generators into smarter
grids. Repetitive control (RC) enables such inverters to inject high quality fundamental
frequency sinusoidal currents into the grid. However, digital RC which can get approximately
no tracking error of any periodic signal in steady state whose period is known, cannot exactly
track or reject periodic signal of frequency variations. Thus digital RC would lead to a significant
power quality degradation of GCIs when grid frequency varies and causes periodic signal with
non integer periods. In this research paper a repetitive control scheme capable of frequency
adaptation (FARC) at a predefined sampling rate is proposed to deal with all types of periodic
signal of variable frequency. A fractional delay filter which is based on Lagrange interpolation is
used to estimate the fractional period terms in RC. This proposed FARC controller offers the fast
during process modification of fractional delay and fast revise of filter parameters, and then
provides GCIs with a simple but very accurate existent time frequency adaptive control

  • 4. How Discipline Is Not Easy Discipline has always been, to me, a thought of growing in yourself or in this case growing in your relationship with Christ. Discipline is not easy, in fact, it is hard, but the results are what we discipline ourselves for. Celebration of Discipline was a very eye opening and insightful book in many aspects. Foster, the author, describes spiritual discipline as an inward and outward reality. Meaning, the inner and outward attitude of the discipline. The bible uses spiritual discipline to describe fasting, prayer, worship, and even celebration. When Jesusspoke of spiritual discipline, he hardly gives instruction of how to discipline ourselves spiritually. This book book gives more of an outline/guidance to types of disciplines that could help you in your spiritual journey. There are three types of disciplines discussed in this book, along with many sub categories within each type. All these groups are used to help one form a more well rounded spiritual life. The types are inward, outward, and corporate discipline. Inward discipline is a type of discipline that focuses on your inner self/spiritual life. This involves things like praying, meditation, fasting, and studying. Outward disciple is more of what you can do as an individual to discipline yourself spiritually, such as simplicity, solitude, submission, and service. These are still self centered but more focused on the outside actions rather than the inside actions. Finally, we have the corporate discipline. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Independence In The Bloody Chamber As a child, parents are the people who are there to protect and guide us through our path to independence. However, the lessons are experiences we have to go through in order to fully understand them. The Bloody Chamber, by Angela Carter, is tales about the main protagonists going on adventures to find their independence and a sense of self and identity. Many of the young girls in these fairytales grow up being guided and protected by a parent, but eventually, as innocent girls grow into young woman, they go on their own paths. In the beginning of the stories, they are all innocent and naive, but by the end, they come out to be independent individuals. Even though parents are supposed to protect us from making mistakes because they know more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wolf Alice is a human girl who was raised by wolves. • 6. 12 Angry Men Character Analysis In the movie Twelve Angry Men, Henry Fonda plays a character known as jury member number eight, otherwise also known as Mr. Davis. Henry Fonda s role in the movie for many, may be thought of as the most important character in the entire movie. Though this statement may be true, the movie also involves eleven other characters who have huge contributions to the story line. Throughout the movie, the audience watches twelve jurymembers discuss the alleged murder trial for an eighteen year old boy who is being accused of murdering his father. All men, but one agree that the boy is guilty. The movie 12 Angry Menmay cause some people to question their own morals and beliefs, however the overall outcome of the movie truly shows the importance of optimism, honesty, and standing up for what you think is right. Henry Fondaplays the role of jury member number eight, also known as Mr. Davis. This character that Henry Fonda plays believes that the boy on trial is not guilty. When questioned by the other eleven men, Mr. Fonda s character never argued, yelled, accused, or even acted as if he was right. He remained very optimistic and open minded throughout the entire movie. These qualities his character plays can be things some people can apply in their own lives and use in everyday situations. The next character that many people might think of as extremely important would be jury member number five. This character is important because he relates to the eighteen year old ... • 7. Coming to Terms With Evil in Treasure Island Essay Coming to Terms With Evil in Treasure Island Robert Louis Stevenson s novel, Treasure Island, is a fast paced adventure tale about a boy developing into an adult and coming to terms with the presence of evil in the world. Jim Hawkins is first portrayed as a na #239;ve and innocent child. Throughout his adventures with Long John Silver, he matures into a heroic young man. Before the pirates enter Jim s life he lives with his parents in a small secluded inn that they own and operate. Up to this point he has lived a fairly sheltered life, completely devoid of adventure or excitement. He takes Pew to the Inn to meet with Billy Bones. When Bones spots Pew he becomes quite anxious. Pew passes a paper to Bones and leaves. When Bones realizes that he has been given The Black Spot he is so distressed that he suffers a fatal stroke. Even though Jim states that he never liked the captain much, he still finds himself upset at his passing. He cries out for his mother s help. This demonstrates that Jim is still just a child and is scared of the events he has witnessed. Jim proceeds to tell his mother everything he has learned from the pirates. They both become quite frightened and decide to leave the inn. They go to the village to ask for help but no one wants to become involved in such hazardous business. Jim and his mother head back to the inn alone to collect the money owed by the captain. This is where the initial development of Jim s bravery begins. Jim also becomes responsible when he takes care of his weary mother after escaping the inn. Since the death of his father, Jim is the man of the house and must grow into the role. He soon demonstrates his bravery again by taking the papers from Bones s chest to Dr. Livesey. He stops letting events pass him by, instead becoming an active participant in his life. This is an enormous step in becoming more mature. When Dr. Livesey and Squire Trelawney realize that Jim has found a treasure map, they decide to embark on a journey to collect the pirates plunder. Schizophreni A Major Psychiatric Disorder Schizophrenia is a major psychiatric disorder that can be crippiling, and is one of top 10 disabilites in the world (Bhargav, Nagendra, Gangadhar, and Nagarathna, 2014). Schizophrenia usually effects males in the early 20 s and women in their late 20 s. Symptoms include: delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking (speech), and abnormal motor behavior (mayo clinic). Even with proper treatment patients still experience symptoms related to their disorder. Proper medication can help with symptoms, but sometimes this comes with cost of side effects that make a patient not even want to take the medicine. There is also the cost of paying for a doctor, which can be quite expensive. The initial consultation can cost up to three hundred dollars with each subsequent visit costing 100 dollars. There is also the stigma that goes along with Schizophrenia. I m sure everyone has seen the man or woman walking down the street talking to someone that isn t there, this person could appear quite normal with help. Even as an official language dictionary term, this shrinks down the very broad term that is sexuality; which cannot be discussed truly nor analysed fully without viewing gender and social construction, especially in the ever diversifying 21st Century in which genderand sexuality have become such a fluid construct. This thinking leads to the theory that if there was more censorship, there would be less violence on television, and there would be less crimes being committed (Arguments Favoring, 2009, p.1). Those who are for media censorship are mostly conservatives who feel that violence and vulgarity should not be on the television because a child is likely to accidently or even purposely click over to that channel. Children s critical thinking skills are not fully developed and they cannot comprehend information the way that adults do. Essentially, they feel that media censorship is essential in society to protect children from lost moral values (Arguments Favoring, 2009, p.1). On the other side of the debate, those against censorship of television feel that it is a violation of the Freedom of Speech which is the first amendment of the United States Constitution (Anti Censorship, p.1). They argue that Freedom of Speech is a basic human right, and that this should not be eroded or compromised through censorship in a nation which likes to call itself free (Wilson, 2010, p.1). They also argue that the Freedom of Speech was not put into place to protect only the speech that the majority of people agreed with, rather it was put into place to protect the speech and opinions of all Americans (Anti Censorship, p.2). Born in a Chicago suburb, he emerged as a writer quite early, starting his career immediately after high school. He served in World War I as an ambulance driver. After the war, wounded, Hemingway returned to the U.S. for a short time before settling in Paris with his first wife, Hadley Richardson. In his memoir A Moveable Feast, he describes his years in Paris as a young writer, his relationship with his wife and their infant son, as well as his circle of friends and acquaintances. At the National Assembly Women Suffrage Association in Philadelphia on July 22, 1905, Kelley recites a speech about the issue of child labor laws. She uses rhetorical strategies such as repetition of the many negative aspects of child labor through specific examples, criticism of state policies, and emotional appeal. A combination of figures, logic, evidence, and emotional appeal will help convince her audience that child labor is a problem. Kelley utilizes factual information to assert her authority on the subject. She opens the speech with, We have, in this country, two million children under the age of sixteen who are earning their bread. (Lines... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, therefore, in New Jersey, boys and girls, after their 14th birthday, enjoy the pitiful privilege of working all night long. Kelley s interesting use of the phrase pitiful privilege refers to the child labor laws set by states. These children are allowed to work, to carry the burden of an adult on their shoulders when they reach a certain age. The word pitiful is feeling sorry for someone, while privilege refers to a granted right. Put together, these two words create a different meaning, an oxymoron. The pitiful privilege of these children being allowed to work, but having to work for so long is very problematic. Her effective use of this oxymoron, is criticizing the states, as these rights they give to the children is only hurting them, when it should be helping. Being a parent comes with many criticisms, such as how you raise your child, what you feed your child, or how much attention is given to the child. More controversy lies on working mothersmainly due to the growing concerns for the childs well being. It is important to see the negative aspects of being a working motheras well as the positive outcomes. First and foremost the term mother must be addressed. In this _____ the term mother will refer to ______. In a study done, the mothers working schedule was evaluated in order to see if it was correlated with the child s behavior. This study was mainly focused on low income mothers working a non traditional schedule, the nightshift or graveyard shift. The results were what would be expected, that children experience a higher aggression behavior if their mothers took a nightshift job than if the mother did not work. (QUOTE) This is partly due to the fact that although mothers are physically present when their children arrive home, they may not be fully mentally there. That is, mothers who work at night may be exhausted in the morning due to the lack of sleep. Instead of paying attention to the child, their minds might be wondering somewhere else. This then raises the question of the quality of time spent with the child. Taking a look at the different working schedules of working mothers we see that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many times, novels serve as primary sources in the future for students to reflect on past history. Students can successfully use novels as a source of understanding past events. Different sentiments and points of views within novels serve as the information one may use to reflect on these events. Natsume Soseki s novel Kokoro successfully encapsulates much of what has been discussed in class, parallels with the events in Japan at the time the novel takes place, and serves as a social commentary to describe these events in Japan at the time of the Mejeii Restoration and beyond. Soseki may have been trying to reveal the dominant belief (as described above by Duus) may have not been the only sentiment of whites in Japanese society. In fact, Soseki may be trying to reveal there were Westerners who successfully accepted Japanese traditions and customs. The narrator s awe of this Westerner seems to reveal and highlight this point by his surprise that Westerners like this existed who were willing to adopt Japanese culture in a non threatening fashion. The role of women is also depicted at length within Kokoro in a few ways. As Sensei describes in his letter the way him and his wife came to be married (her mother and father choosing her husband for her), this point is described by Duus. Duus describes the heads of the households as the one to choose marriage partners for their family members. He describes children having to receive parental permission before getting married. People not only need water for consumption, but also utilize it daily in several ways; this includes bathing, washing, sewage/waste, watering outdoors, etc. Water is essentially everywhere. Although access to water in the United States often seems so simple and easy, water is not always in the form people see coming out of the faucet. There are a variety of water sources on the Earth. Although from several sources, water has a distinguished cycle on the planet. Examining the water cycleand the sources of water on the earth can help bring a better understanding of water usage and available resources. According to the NASA Earth Observation, over 75% of the Earth s surface is made up of water (Graham, Parkinson, Chahine, 2010). The Earth s total water content is roughly 1.39 billion cubic kilometers, or 331 million cubic miles (Graham et al., 2010). As seen in Figure 1, there are a variety of categories the Earth s water can be broken up into. Over 96% of the Earth s water is made up of the five oceans (Graham et al., 2010). When examining water simply in terms of freshwater, most of the reservoir comes from glaciers and ice caps. By examining these percentages, a greater knowledge of the Earth s total water supply can be gained. These percentages can also be factored into the water cycle to better understand how water rotates through the Earth and the atmosphere. A cervical cell sample that has no abnormal cells is categorised cytologically as being negative (negative for the presence of HPV or risk of cervical cancer). Alternatively, samples may be identified as containing borderline abnormal changes, or having dyskaryosis (Health and Social Care Information Centre, 2013). In some literature the terms dysplasia or CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) seem to be used in place of dyskaryosis (Eifel et al., 2011), but NHS literature seems to make most consistent reference to dyskaryosis. In the conventional cytology method, a woman s cervical sample is transferred directly from the collection spatula onto a microscopic slide (Arbyn et al., 2008; Moss et al., 2003). This transfer process seems to sometimes lead samples to be inadequate for screening because the transferred cells are too difficult to clearly discern. This manual process does also, very occasionally, result in false results, even when conducted by experienced cytologists. The liquid based cytology (LBC) method involves a slightly different approach to the preparation of the slides. The cell sample is placed into a vial containing a preservative fluid (Arbyn et al., 2008; Moss et al., 2003). This creates a liquid suspension of the sample, which can then be poured onto the slide in a very thin, uniform layer. However, debate remains over whether this method really offers a substantial improvement over conventional cytology. To name a few, Batman, Spiderman, Harry Potter, Hercules, and more were just some of the beloved comic book and movie characters that were enjoyed by children and adults alike. They portrayed the traditional archetypal hero, which was to conquer evil and bring peace to the land and to the world. Also, they were highly praised by society because they were considered the good guy . However, what all these characters have in common is that they are fictional. The depiction of the traditional hero in the media and literature has had an impact on American culture for decades. Terms such as workaholic, sex addict, and computer junkie arose to describe behaviors that have features in common with alcoholism and other substance addictions. Substance addictionis a multi pronged system in which lifestyle has a role but the biology of a person s body is a major factor. These substances, which are called psychoactive drugs, are what people become addicted to and are described as chemicals that affect mental processes and behavior by temporarily changing perception and awareness. As talked about earlier, different drugs influence each of these neurotransmitters differently. Each psychoactive drug has different effects on the body and different uses. The term psychoactive describes a substance that affects the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), producing changes in a person s mental activity or behavior. Psychoactive drugs may affect the way an individual thinks, behaves, and analyzes. Many popular and widely used substances are psychoactive such as alcohol. Therefore, gender discrimination happens in things such as sports, education, health, employment, laws, and in different countries. Gender discrimination was a major thing in the past, and is still a major thing today. Men continually think women are weak, and so women are targeted more in crimes. They also think that women won t stand up for themselves, and women continually let men bring them down because they aren t brave enough. In jobs they believe women won t work, and that women aren t capable enough to do the job, so women end up getting paid less or have to work ridiculously short hours. Today in our century, women are targeted more than men because they are considered weak. Being labeled weak makes women are more vulnerable to at least one form of abuse. 1 in 3 women are abused in some form at a time of their life by a man. Women are targeted for crimes, such as home break ins, because if they live on their own, they are thought to not be able to defend themselves that well. Women are also being killed all the time. • 38. Differences Between Weak Impermissibility And The... In the aforementioned studies, an asymmetry is found between the footbridge and the bystander cases which suggests that there is an independent reason to remove any asymmetry in the personal bystander and footbridge cases. The results showed that participants were aware of the difference between weak impermissibility and all in impermissibility. In the first experiment, about 70% stated that is was not acceptable to violate a moral rule and all things considered both in the personal footbridge case. We can see a recognisable distinction in personal and moral cases, but this was not addressed in these experiments. In addition, a philosophical understanding tells us that when a rule is broken, it is wrong to go ahead with that action (e.g. Fried, 1978). It is clear then from both experiments that a difference between weak and all in permissibility is not evident (Nichols Mallon, 2005). The results show that some people think that it is acceptable to breach a moral rule, even one that allows killing innocent people. This reinforces the idea that people are not absolute deontologists, and this is similar to the issues observed in the catastrophe case. What is notable about the results is that people appreciate the recognisable difference between weak and all in impermissibility. Moreover, the results show an independent mechanism for two underlying ideas relating to moral judgement. One shows that people are able to minimise bad outcomes and the other shows people have a set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Playing at Atlanta s Shakespeare Tavern, an aura of energy fills the house from the second you walk through the door way to the moment when you leave the building. This high energy Jacobean comedyput on by a dynamic cast under seasoned intelligent direction offered a very praise worthy production. Despite some very minute flaws, overall the actors were very purposefully directed, understood the text, and offered a unique comedic experience that to much surprise is 400 years old. A particular challenge that is often found in plays written from this era that are presented to layman audiences, is the obstacle of understanding. I m sure everyone is aware that the language that was used in 1600 s England is very different from what we use nowadays. And when presenting this dramatically, you often find that in order to efficiently communicate this language to an audiencethat isn t well versed in this language, players have to playthe characters and words in a larger than life fashion to assist the audience. The company of Volpone did this extremely well. Nearly through and through, the entire cast understood this and did a fantastic job of using this tool to communicate the text effectively. This article argues that female genital mutilation should be a crime, not a cultural practice, but even if there was some way to make this practice illegal, how would it ever be enforced in the lawless countries that it is commonly practiced. I had found what I was always looking for, and it turned out what I was looking for I had the entire time. Growing up with depression can be hard. It can be especially hard when you don t know you have it. I was informed of my depression after a series of test and numerous trips to the doctors. I didn t enjoy many of things other people did when I was younger due to my depression, but as I got older, dealing with my depression came to be harder and harder. My guitar gathered dust, my skateboards corroded with the seasons, my hopes to ever feel normal again gone. Constantly getting different medications was the worst part. As the years went by, it got easier to talk about my condition to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract Grid connected inverters (GCI) are widely used to feed power from renewable energy distributed generators into smarter grids. Repetitive control (RC) enables such inverters to inject high quality fundamental frequency sinusoidal currents into the grid. However, digital RC which can get approximately no tracking error of any periodic signal in steady state whose period is known, cannot exactly track or reject periodic signal of frequency variations. Thus digital RC would lead to a significant power quality degradation of GCIs when grid frequency varies and causes periodic signal with non integer periods. In this research paper a repetitive control scheme capable of frequency adaptation (FARC) at a predefined sampling rate is proposed to deal with all types of periodic signal of variable frequency. A fractional delay filter which is based on Lagrange interpolation is used to estimate the fractional period terms in RC. This proposed FARC controller offers the fast during process modification of fractional delay and fast revise of filter parameters, and then provides GCIs with a simple but very accurate existent time frequency adaptive control ...
