Relationship Between Belstaff And Gender
Belstaff and Gender
If Belstaff was a person, it would definitely be an intrepid, tough and stylish man, who drinks the
best beer and loves classic motos and cars. There are several reasons why Belstaff is perceived as a
male brand. The first one is that the brand is intimately related to the moto world, and motorbikes
have always been a boy toy. Less than 10% of motorbike buyers are women (CBS news, 2012).
It is possible to see signs of moto lifestyles everywhere around Belstaff. In its history and its
relationship with figures like the well known bike s lover Steve McQueen and motorcycle trial icon
Sammy Miller (Belstaff official website, Adventures section, 2015). Signs in it s products, being
Belstaff a victim of its own product success;

Analysis Of Mark Twain s Advice To Youth
In Mark Twain s, Advice to Youth, Twain educates the younger generations by providing his
viewpoint of how people of their age should conduct themselves ranging from simple words of
wisdom to instructions on how to interact with others in order to sculpt a generation more
knowledgeable and intelligent than his own. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote, Joint
Address to Congress Leading to a Declaration of War Against Japan, he announced that resulting
from provocations from Japan, it was mandatory that the United Statesof America retaliated by
engaging in a war against Japan in order to protect the American citizens. In her essay titled, A
New Egalitarian Life Style, Gloria Steinem insists that women and black citizens have been
treated inadequately starting from when the patriarchy began to reign in order to urge people to
strive for equality across the board. However, in Of the Coming of John by W.E.B. Du Bois, the
author relates an experience of a black man who had received higher education and as a result
could no longer live in complacency with his lower status in society in order to urge the African
Americans of the time period to go to college and receive education themselves.
This quote appears within the introductory section of the novel when Lane, one of the central
characters, must move to a hospital that doubles as a boarding school to receive treatment for his
drug resistant case of tuberculosis. He had just seen Sadie, a girl who he used to go

Intersectionality In Tony Kushner s Angels In America
Perhaps more than any other disease before or since, syphilis... provoked the kind of widespread
moral panic that AIDS revived when it struck America in the 1980 s (Allen. Searchquote). Angels
in America: Millennium Approaches by Tony Kushner, follows several characters during 1985
1986 in New York, during the Reagan era. This was a time of an emerging gay culture, the spike in
HIV/AIDS, and the focusing on furthering and improving one s self. Kushner shows the
progressing times and widespread panic and beliefs through his complex characters. Their
identities work with and through each other to grant privileges or create oppressions, this is also
known as intersectionality. However, how does intersectionality shape the opportunities and
obstacles of Kushner s characters Belize, Roy Cohn, and Prior Walter? This essay will explore
how each of these characters lead different lives, despite having one thing in common; they are all
gay men, facing the fear of contracting AIDS, or knowing someone else who does.... Show more

These multiple identities work as a whole, and effect the way that he is perceived.
Unfortunately, his life is anything but easy, and it all boils down to intersectionality. Belize is a
black male, thus, it is believed and understood that it is already difficult to survive in a white,
phallocentric and patriarchal society. However if you re black and male and gay, you have to be
stronger than you can imagine (Hooks. 150). Meaning that Belize has to face twice as much
oppression, being in two groups that are marginalized from society. Overall his character deals
with constant fear of being the victim of homophobic and transphobic violence, racial slurs, and
prejudice. We know now how Belize is treated in society as a whole. But how is his character
treated with those he is closest

Rorschach Test And Its Impact On The Field Of Psychology
Abstract
The Rorschach test, used first in 1918, has been the center of much controversy in the field of
psychology. This particular test uses print inkblots in order to test many factors within clients based
on how they answer when asked about the pictures. Although Hermann Rorschach never made it
known where he got the idea for the Rorschach test, it is believed it was inspired by the game Blotto,
which was a game which used inkblots. The Rorschach test was originally used to test patients with
schizophrenia during which Rorschach discovered that these patients responded significantly in a
different way from others without schizophrenia. Later, Rorschach began working more with the
test using forty inkblots in his original studies but only using fifteen of them commonly with his
clients. Today, this test is used by highly trained professionals who are studying personality based
on scoring clients answers to questions about the inkblots. (Framingham, 2016)
History of the Rorschach Test
The Rorschach test, which was first administered in 1918, is one of the most controversial
psychological tests in the history of psychology. This particular test uses print inkblots in order to
test many factors within clients based on how they answer when asked about the pictures. It was
created by Herman Rorschach. Although Rorschach never made it known where the inspiration for
the Rorschach test came from, it is believed it was inspired by the game Blotto, a game using

Analysis Of The Movie The Gum Advertisement
The gum advertisement is an Extra Gum commercial that was recently uploaded and aired on
YouTube on October 7, 2015 (Richards). This particular commercial has been called the most
romantic and best tear jerker commercial to date (Stern). The commercial follows the romantic
story of Sarah and Juan. Their story begins with them first catching each other s eye, to the two
falling in loveand becoming high school sweetheart s, and then continues to show their relationship
progress as it goes on for several years. During each monumental moment in their relationship, a
piece of gum is exchanged and focused on. A numerous number of appeals are present throughout
the commercial. Appeals that the creators of this gum commercial used include appeals to memory,
consistency, creativity, and love to successfully portray that love will survive any life change or
challenge. The first appealthat really makes a mark throughout this commercial is the appeal to
memory and flashbacks. The entire gum commercial focus on the memories written down on
each gum wrapper by Juan. Every time a memory is made by the couple, Juan draws the memory
on the back of a gum wrapper and saves it, without Sarah knowing he is doing this. With him
keeping every gum wrapper, it leads to the big emotional finale when he displays each framed gum
wrapper on the walls in a private room for Sarah before proposing to her. Before proposing to her, a
series of flashbacks occur every time she looks at all the gum

Black Death Effect
In 1348 the Black death arrived on European shores. The first part of Europe to get infected was
Sicily. The international gates of Genoa and Venice experienced the symptoms about a year later. A
lot people think the beginnings of the plague moved westward with trade caravans. Genoese and
Venetian merchants got infected during a siege of their trading posts at Caffa. They brought the
disease with them into the Mediterranean, Constantinople and Europe. Muslim merchants imported
plaguefrom Constantinople to Alexandria, Egypt. After that, others spread it to the westward Africa
and the Middle East.
By 1350, when the Black Death retreated, it had already cut a quarter to half of the region s
population. In 1362, 1368, and 1381, The Black Death struck again and would intermittently strike
during the 18th century. In the beginning of the Black Death, merchants ... Show more content on

When towns started to get infected, some merchants boarded ships to Venice and Genoa. But when
they arrived there, only a few of those merchants were still alive.
During the Black Death, long distance merchants risked having their cargo and supplies destroyed,
quarantined, or delayed. Some trade cities would turn the supplies away from their docks or gates.
Retail merchants usually shut down their shops, stopping their income and depriving their
customers of their wares.
Finally, the worst of the Black Death had passed. Prices of many goods increased as customers
went to reopened markets and shops. Surviving merchants had an advantage because of the
increased prices by the deaths of their competitors. Merchants were able to hire workers and
laborers because they were freed from the feudal system. Many wealthy surviving merchants were
able to own land. Many wealthy merchants, who were Catholic, donated generous gifts that

Off Balance Research Paper
Fundamentals of an Off Balance When I first joined judo I never expected to learn so many
things in just a small timely manner. Within the first week I already learned how to do throws,
takedowns, and submissions which were the basic essentials to mastering judo. Judo explained in
the English dictionary means an unarmed combat intended to train the body and mind. The
objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise
subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. As I
continued on doing judo I could not figure out how to successfully execute a throw during the
opponent s brief moment of off balance , until one of my upper classmate taught me how to do it
correctly because it all depended entirely on timing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s a simple push, shove, or pull in a direction that will take the opponent off balance. In order to
win, the opponent must be thrown with control, force, and on their back. By either pushing,
shoving, or pulling an opponent off balance, the execution of the actual throw is made
substantially easier since they will be leaning in that direction. Think of an off balance in Judo
like pushing someone forward and quickly extending a foot out so that they trip and fall. This
example shows how timing is everything, extend the foot too late after the push and they won t
trip, too early and they might just stumble a bit. It s a crude example, but it shows the relationship
between off balance and timing of the execution. Much like how one must quickly extend a foot at
the right moment, a Judoka has but a few seconds to off balance and throw an opponent all in one
continuous and fluid motion. The timing of the throw during the off balance will determine if it is
successful. Without the off balance, a throw is conceivably possible yet substantially more difficult
to pull

Justification Of Punishment Justified By Ted Honderinch s...
Why punish? Is the use of punishment Justified? Ted Honderinch s Punishment: The supposed
Justifications Revisited aim to answer these questions. Punishment is at the core of our punitive
systems, therefore society needs to establish a well thought out moral explanation as to why we
punish and what we aim to achieve with the use of punishment. Honderinch set out to analyze the
supposed moral claims that justify the practice of punishment and to determine if they are
satisfactory enough for the intentional infliction suffering and deprivation.
What are the claims as to why punishment should be morally used? The author looks at three main
justifications of punishment. Those who believe that the offender deserves to be chastised for his
or her crime justify punishment by appealing to desert thereby retributive in nature thus backward
looking. The justification of punishment on forward looking factors justifies punishment for its
ability to prevent and reduce crime therefore through punishment the offender is capable of reform
and rehabilitation. The third justification is the mixture of both justifications in which punishment
is deserved for some past offences, and also it reduces crime. From these Justifications, it is clear
that one cannot justify punishment without stating its aim. Honderich argues persuasively that
these justifications that these justifications are not satisfactory.
Honderinch in his analysis considers numerous backward looking justifications, those

Women In The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
The narration in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow functions as a way to give authority to the women
of Tarry Town. This power of feminine is elicit by Washington Irving who gives respect and
superiority to women indirectly, but yet evidently through third person narration. Furthermore
through Katrina he parallels the power of Tarry Town s women by illustrating their agency to beget
the downfall of Ichabod.
Irving draws out Katrina Van Tassel only in relation to the farm not to demean her, but rather to
bring out her importance in the town to expose the dominance of women in Tarry Town. At the
beginning of the story Knickerbockers sets the importance of women by stating that the town s
name [is] given by the good housewives. To emphasize this... Show more content on

This foreshadows that Katrina will be the desire of the town because she is the fertile nook of the
village where her wealth and power will be passed on to her kids. Katrina is shown as a symbol of
wealth and fertility not to degrade women, but rather to bare the fact they are needed to sustain and
conceive future generations of the town.
Katrina initiates to uphold her agency by gaining Ichabod s affections through her flirtatious
conduct which parallels with the women of town who are looked upon by Ichabod due to their
storytelling skills. The narrator uses diction to initially elicit Katrina as a modern independent lady
who
She [is] withal a little of a coquette, as might be perceived even in her dress, which [is] a mixture of
ancient and modern fashions, as most suited to set her charms. She wore...short petticoat to display
the prettiest foot and ankle in the country round. [Ichabod] passes long winter evening with the Old
Dutch wives... and listen to their marvellous tales of ghosts...
In the first passage Katrina s independence is illustrated through the use if vivid imagery language.
For instance she is perceived negatively as a coquette who willingly displays herself to the men of
the village. This brings out the power of woman in the town because she has freedom of clothing
which is of ancient and modern fashion. Through this Irving inexplicitly states that Katrina is

Stereotypes In The Movie Cinderella
In the movie Cinderella, the valued based on appearance is prevalent throughout the film and is
the catalyst for love the at first glance. Love at first glace implies that men and women fall in
love based solely on each other s appearance. The movie completely mistakes lust for love, and
boys and girls learn that love is based on appearance. Therefore, the stereotype implemented is if
a girl wants to marry a guy; she needs to be physically attractive. The physical attributes of
Cinderella are: strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, and a perfect figure that allows her to differ
from all other women in the film. Prince Charming selects a bride because she prettier than any

Trauma and Adult Learning Essay
Trauma and Adult Learning
Effects of Trauma on Learning
Adults experiencing the effects of past or current trauma may display such symptoms as difficulty
beginning new tasks, blame, guilt, concern for safety, depression, inability to trust (especially those
in power), fear of risk taking, disturbed sleep, eroded self esteem/confidence, inability to
concentrate, or panic attacks (Mojab and McDonald 2001). Some people may manifest no
symptoms; at the other end of the spectrum is Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, characterized by
flashbacks, avoidance, numbing of responsiveness (including substance abuse), persistent
expectation of danger, constriction (dissociation, zoning out), and memory impairment (Isserlis
2001).

A number of authors urge reframing of these discourses:
Instead of diagnosing and treating victims, find ways to make the learning environment safer for
everyone (Horsman 1997).
Recognize the role of power in limiting individual agency and choice and the ways in which
institutions make personal and structural violence possible and legitimize it (Pearce 1999).
Acknowledge the hidden learning that occurs through traumatic experiences (Horsman 2000b;
Williamson 2000).
What is learned from trauma and how might educators respond? Studies of people enduring
extreme situations suggest that learning is a key to survival in adversity (Williamson 2000).
Successful learning is supposed to occur when conditions are right: accessible opportunities, time,
appropriate support, safety, motivation, risks with manageable consequences (ibid.). Yet in extreme
situations, learning must take place quickly and without the right conditions. What is learned in
response to trauma is influenced by prior knowledge, background, familial and social relationships,
and personal qualities and abilities (Pearce 1999; Williamson 2000). This is not to blame the
victim for inappropriate learning or responses, but to underscore the importance of resources and
support and the recognition that learning has to be geared to meet a range of individual needs.
Some of the hidden learning from trauma includes the following:
All or nothing reactions such as shifting between

Marketing communications are intended to both inform and persuade a target audience, with a

We are going to analyze the government of Ireland between the years of 1840 1850. The

Before the famine Ireland was made part of the United Kingdom, Anti catholic movements date
back to the year 1695, when the British started to impose laws designated to punish the Irish who
supported the catholic king James II, in his battle to get the British throne he went into battle with
his catholic army but lost at the hands of the protestant directed by William of Orange in the year
of 1690 , in consequence of this battle the resulting penal Laws against Irish Catholics striped them
from their rights , such as to serve in the British army , hold any government post , buy land they

In the beginning only ten percent of protestant own land in Ireland, but with this new laws by the

Heroic Heros
Most of the heroes in the superhero universe can be broken down into three groups. Marvel and
DC Comics are the main contributors to this superhero fandom. These two companies even
contributed the term superhero. Neither company owns it, they just share it. Many of the
interesting heroes/ heroines have brain powers, body powers, and some are even powerless.
This class is the mind boggling brainiac s. Not because they are smart, but because they have
brain powers. Brain powers include telekinesis, aqua kinesis, telepathy, and many more. The
most classic and recognizable candidate for Brainiac s would be Jean Grey. Jean Grey was 10
years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after experiencing the emotions of
a dying friend. ( Jean Grey , 2006, para.1). Her telekinetic abilities allow her to levitate or pick up
cars with her mind. She also has telepathic abilities, this allows her to read minds and put
thoughts in people s brains. Jean and her amazing powers landed her a spot as one of the
founding X Men. Aquaman is another suitable hero for this class. Aquaman, like his name
suggests, has the power to control the water. This is called aqua kinesis. Another cool power of
his is telepathy, like Jean, but with a twist. He uses his telepathy to communicate with the sea
creatures, like the dolphins and the menacing sharks. There are moments where I m in the shower,
or even just playing in water that I feel like aqua man. I feel as if I have his aqua kinetic

This research paper analyzes and summarizes three published articles and a textbook that provides
information on the results from a previous research conducted. The previous conducted research
analyzed and summarized the use of action plans that employers and employee structure to develop
and enhance training methods to improve job performances. The three articles vary in the

This article clearly exemplifies that training development amongst employers and employee should
be well structured and focus on the impact of an employee s job performance and the workforce.
The next article s, researched and published by the Littler Learning Group in 2009, is summarized
as a guideline for individuals who obtain a management or supervision position. Performance
Management and Corrective Action: A Resource Guide for Managers and Supervisors gives a
breakdown of an effective training guide that employers should provide and make sure their
management team are extremely knowledgeable to train the employees. The Little Learning Group
(2009) states, that a good action plan is task oriented, specific, offers the appropriate training or
help, sets goals, sets a timetable for effecting change, explains the consequences of continued poor
performance, removes obstacles to performance, and lastly considers appropriateness of
professional resources. The opinion of this group corresponds with Thoresen s definition of action
planning because it identifies that an action plan is used in training development to better the
employee s job performance. In addition, each action plan must be structured in a sufficient amount
of time in order to be efficient and make an impact in the training development. There are various
guidelines in structuring effective action plans, but most importantly is that

The Effect Of Income Levels On The Investment Choices...
4.3 Results for Objective #2 Whether RRSP is better for high income earners
Based on our data collected, we have compiled tables and graphs in order to visually represent our

determine the effect of income levels on the investment choices between RRSP and TFSA, the
sample from investors with both and neither plans were excluded when testing the hypothesis in
order to isolate the variables that we wanted to test. Therefore only 79 participants would be
considered when examining whether RRSP is better for high income investors. The investment

After removing those sample we were left with 79 participants who either chose TFSA or RRSP
for their retirement savings. For this test we used a significant level of 5%. With the degree of
freedom of 77 and a 5% significance level we arrived at a t value of 1.990 and 1.990. Since our
calculated t critical value of 1.019 does not fall into the rejection region of 1.990 and 1.990 we
have concluded that we do not reject the null hypothesis, shown as Illustration 4.3.6 as below.
Chapter 5 Major Findings and Discussion
The purpose of the survey was to determine whether there is a relationship between investors
income level and their investment options of RRSP and TFSA. Our literature review suggested that
investors with higher income would be more favourable when choosing RRSP rather than TFSA.
The null hypothesis was structured assuming there is no relationship between the income level and
the investment choices between RRSP and TFSA. Based on the t test we conducted using SPSS,
we do not reject the null hypothesis (H0), which suggests that with a significance level of 5% we
cannot conclude that the investors that chose RRSP had a higher income than the investors who
chose TFSA. Therefore, the test result turned out to be different from what we have concluded from
the literature review.

The Spectacle Theatre Costumes
There are several elements in a play that make it successful. These elements consist of the writer s
plot, theme, characters, dialogue, music and the Spectacle . The Spectacle refers to the visual
elements that make up a play: sets, costumes and special effects. Although costumes are only one
small component in a play, I believe they are very imperative for the overall feel of the audience.
The costumes worn by the performers portray the personality of the character along with the period
of timeof the play. According to a Canadian designer, Judith Bowden, The main job of costume
design in a production is to provide physical and emotional support to every actor through the

Any time a kitchen remodel is taking place, the style of cabinets is always a great place to start.
The cabinets take up a lot of the room within the kitchen, so it often makes sense to start here and

Prayer Should Not Be Allowed In Public Schools
Not During School Hours What s the harm in an occasional spoken prayer at school every now
and then? Are times such as an assembly, sporting event, or graduation acceptable? The debate
of prayer in public schools has been an ongoing issue for over fifty years now. It seems like a
simple yes or no answer. As a Christian who attended a private school, my initial answer was a
definite yes. I have always believed that God should be present in every school all over the world
mainly because my school s activities were centered around prayer. However, after much research, I
have found a different point of view. Prayer should not be allowed in public schools due to the fact
that these schools consist of numerous religions, it is unconstitutional, and it creates different
burdens for each person in the school. Prayer should not be allowed in public schools because more
than just Christians attend these schools.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an article titled, The Dangers of Religious Instruction in Public Schools, a Wisconsin State
Supreme Court justice noted, There is no such source and cause of strife, quarrel, fights, malignant
opposition, persecution, and war, and all evil in the state, as religion. Let it once enter our civil
affairs, our government would soon be destroyed. Let it once enter our common schools, they
would be destroyed. (Gaylor). In all actuality, the Supreme Court does not have a set rule that the
students can t pray while they are at school, but it is set that the school itself can t hold religious
assemblies (Strauss). Both Gaylor and Strauss agree that this separation is important. Public
schools are funded and controlled by the government. If religion were placed back in the schools
it, too, would be controlled by the government. It would soon not hold the same value that it does
while it is separate from the school

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Reinsurance
Reinsurance is protection that is acquired by an insurance agency (the surrendering organization or
cedent or cedant under the course of action) from one or more other insurance agencies (the
reinsurer ) straightforwardly or through a representative as a method for danger administration,
some of the time by and by including charge alleviation and different reasons depicted underneath.
The surrendering organization and the reinsurer go into a reinsuranceunderstanding which points of
interest the conditions whereupon the reinsurer would pay an offer of the cases brought about by
the surrendering organization. The reinsurer is paid a reinsurance premium by the surrendering

There are two fundamental sorts of bargain reinsurance, corresponding and non relative, which are
itemized beneath. Under corresponding reinsurance, the reinsurer s offer of the danger is
characterized for every different arrangement, while under non relative reinsurance the reinsurer s
obligation depends on the total cases brought about by the surrendering office. In the previous 30

The Year Of Wonders By Geraldine Brooks
Oppression is defined as, the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust
manner (dictionary.com), and is found all around the world. There is essentially two parts to
oppression: the oppressor, who is demonstrating his power by displaying cruelty towards the
second part of oppression, the oppressed. The oppressed take part in offenses made by the
oppressor, that usually contain a cruel, and unfair burden towards them. The world has
demonstrated this profound relationship since human history first began, not only in their way of
life, but in literature. For example, Geraldine Brooks, displays the oppressors, in her novel The
Year of Wonders, by implicating strong men, and a powerful family; while the oppressed are

Panem is significantly lacking fellowship and liberation while under the oppressive rule of the
Capitol. People are suffering and working endlessly each and every day inside the districts,
while everybody in the Capitol is living a superb and wealthy life. In order for this to change,
Panem needs to reflect on these views, and change their way of life. In the novel, Peeta says,
Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to... to show the Capitol they don t own me. That I m
more than just a piece in their games (Collins 142). He has already reflected the lack of
liberation in Panem, and is now trying to envision a way to fix it. This needs to be the mentality
of everybody in Panem. Cutting out oppression, and increasing fellowship, liberation, and
solidarity, will disembody the life they are living now, and produce an improved way of life for
everybody in Panem. In his novel, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Paulo Freire also says, It is only
when the oppressed find the oppressor out and become involved in the organized struggle for
liberation that they begin to believe in themselves. This discovery cannot be purely intellectual but
must involve action (Freire). The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd, is linked to this quote.

Collapse Of The Minoan Civilization
Since the rediscovery of the site of Knossos by Sir Arthur Evans in 1900, the cause of the fall of the
Minoan Civilization has been largely debated throughout the years. Scientists and archaeologists
have proposed various hypotheses to the mystery, mainly regarding to environmental factors such
as the eruption of Thera Volcano and subsequent tsunamis, earthquakes and climate change; or
social and political factors like societal conflicts and invasion of the Mycenaeans. This paper
examines the relationship between the demise of the Minoan Civilizationand the natural disasters it
encountered which severely weakened and eventually led to the downfall of the civilization, and
opened the way for Mycenaean domination of Aegean (Middleton, G.D., 2012).
The Minoan Civilization was a civilization of the Bronze Age which arose in the island of Crete,
Greece and flourished from around 2600 BC to 1100 BC. It is considered to be the first
advanced civilization in Europe, where the Minoans formed complex and vibrant societies
consisting of warriors, merchants, artists, farmers, sailors, sea traders and all kinds of people.
They were also the first to use a written language in Europe, namely Linear A. Despite how
intelligent these people were, the Minoan Civilization collapsed at its peak of splendor in 1450
BC, leaving traces of its grandeur and essential clues to their legend.
The most popular theory to their collapse is associated with the tremendous eruption of Thera.

Factors Affecting People s Health And Health Experiences...
Place is an important factor in determining people s health and health experiences (Karunanayake
et al., 2015) and the neighborhood is vital because it directly impacts the lives of people living
there. Saskatoon low income neighborhoods are significantly different in income status, education,
employment status, and poverty in comparison to affluent neighborhoods as well as the rest of
Saskatoon. The low income neighborhoods in Saskatoon have a high population of residents with
an average household income of approximately $40,000 compared to about $84,000 for the entire
city (Fuller, Engler Stringer, Muhajarine, 2015) (Cooper, 2014) and these neighborhoods are also
referred to as the core neighborhoods .
Saskatoon s core neighborhoods including communities of King George, Meadow Green, Pleasant
Hill, Riversdale and Westmount (National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health, 2015)
consist of a disproportionate proportion of the most vulnerable populations to poverty. Hence,
Saskatoon Health Region (SHR) defines its population by using a measure of neighborhood
residence and includes Aboriginal status in its analyses (Morrison, 2011) because, First Nations,
MГ©tis, and ethnic minorities majorly occupy the low income neighborhoods (Cessna, 2014).
Although Saskatoon s Aboriginal population are becoming more disperse in their place of
residence, a significant number of Aboriginal people reside in the core neighborhoods (Lotoski,

Gender Bias In To Kill A Mockingbird
The Human Class
Throughout all of history and still to this day, gender bias and discrimination remains a huge
issue in our world. Harper Lee chooses to address gender bias in her powerful and provoking
novel called To Kill a Mockingbird. Gender bias occurs far too often, and Lee clearly holds a true
understanding of the powerful impact it makes on our society as a whole. All through the novel,
any reader could easy see the negative impact that gender bias can do to a community, society and
even nation. Gender bias most efficiently is portrayed by how Jem and Aunt Alexandra relates to
Scout, by the fact that women could not usually work jobs and last of all, the way that Mayella is
portrayed and understood in court.
Gender bias in Maycomb occurs in Scout s own home between her and her own family members.
Jem and Scout would often times fight, like normal siblings, but it was clear that at times, Jem
took it too far by speaking words of hurtful bias towards Scout s gender. After Jem hurts her,
Scout doubts the power and beauty of being a female by stating, I was not so sure, but Jem told
me I was being a girl, that girls always imagined things, that s why other people hated them so,
and if I started behaving like one I could just go off and find some to play with (54). Not only
does conflict arise between Scout and her brother in regard to gender bias, but it also occurs
between Scout and her Aunt Alexandra. Time and time again, Aunt Alexandra scolds Scout for

The Path of Recovery Is for Everyone

the extreme. When Jeannette escapes the depths of Welch and her parents, her life was smooth
sailing afterwards. When you have a life as traumatizing as hers, It is expected for more
struggles to occur later in life. Not everybody will be as fortunate as her and trot with no
regression. Lily ran away from home with no clue where she was headed, other than a town

altering decision and started going to school again. This lead to her ultimate goal of going to

the intense situations they endured, anybody can. Jeannette was an average girl, brought up in an
environment where moving every few weeks was acceptable. She never had any thing stable in her
life, and basically had to raise herself with the help of her brother and sister. Neither parentwas

Digital Piracy And Its Impact On Society Essay
When Game of Thrones premiers to a HBO audience of 10.3 million viewers through legitimate
channels, an additional 4.3 million viewers is estimated to watch the premier illegitimately. These
digital pirates cause quite a controversy for the show`s industry, legitimate viewers, and the show
runners themselves, even. Mixed thoughts, reactions, and even discrepancies in quantitative
numbers shroud the perception and comprehension of modern digital piracy. Examining the
culture of piracy, how and why people pirate content, as well as the legal and industrial
components of piracy can provide a contextualized understanding of piracy in the digital age, and
the future of piracy. Understanding technological and ethical factors that lead to piracy, and legal
and industrial repercussions to digital piracy are essential to navigating a discussion about
whether or not piracy has a great impact on industry or society as a whole. Defining digital piracy
is the first and foremost step towards understanding its role in today s world. For our purposes,
looking to Miriam Webster s definition of piracy as the act of illegally copying someone s product
or invention without permission, is an excellent starting point. Theft, by comparison, Miriam
Webster defines as felonious taking and removing of personal property with the intent to deprive
the rightful owner of it. To contrast theft and piracy, digital piracy does not deprive the rightful
owner of the item. With physical objects,

Importance Of Lucille Ball
More than a pretty face:
Before there were women like Oprah Winfrey or Ellen DeGeneres, there was a Lucille Ball. A
woman running her own television show, production network, while also maintaining the role as a
mother and a wife. Lucille was one of the influential women of her time, impacting society
anywhere from interracial dating and marriages, her television show and her pregnancy and what it
represented. Lucille Ball paved the road for a woman following a career in comedy, expanding
acceptance for women s priorities to not always be that of her physical appearance, and the
betterment of her husband and children s lives. In the 1950 s a woman who focused on her own
career advancement and self betterment was often considered selfish and self centered, and
Lucille Ball was one of the women to prove that stereotype wrong. With so little women at the
time in the workplace and drastically fewer women with upper level positions, Lucille Ball
stands out. It is not a secret that Lucille Ball was one of the first significant female actresses of
her time, but the importance of that role is one that is often overlooked. Not only did Lucille Ball
defy traditional domestic roles off screen, but the character Lucy on I Love Lucy, was also
untraditional in terms of the 1950s mindset. While Ball is merely looked at as a hilarious
television star, the importance of her humorous personality is also valuable. In the 1950 s, the
airing period of I Love Lucy, a woman s traditional place in the world was not one of humor and
comedy. A woman s role at that time was cooking and cleaning and caring for her husband and
children, along with maintaining a beautiful physical appearance. An example of such
perfection for the time is the character June Cleaver, from Leave it to Beaver. June was the
epitome of a perfect woman for that time. Perfect hair and outfit, always cooking decadently,
faultlessly cleaned house, all topped off with curlers in her hair and a smile. In the 1950s and
1960s, a perfect woman would be a domestic, dutiful wife and mother who lacked economic
independence, sexuality, voice, or presence of her own, and her identity was crafted by a
patriarchal society. While Lucille Ball s character in I love Lucy lacked

Having specific procedures regarding health, safety and security and follow them is a very
important aspect in a business environment.
One reason for following the health, safety and security procedures is the legal aspect. Both the
employers and employee must comply with the law and rules: the organisation must take specific
actions (prepare documentation on the procedures and choosing personnel to be responsible for this
aspect), the staff and other persons must respect the procedures.
Another reason is the moral one: the purpose of following the procedures is to make sure no one

Discretion In Policing
State and territory police play a pivotal role in protecting community safety and protection. Policing
was a combination of national economic interests, domestic and international security, and
represented in time by distinctive organizations (Chapman, 1970; Emsley, 1994). They have
responsibility for peace preservation, and crimeprevention as well as upholding the laws, providing
assistance in personal emergencies, and coordinating and managing emergency incidents. Since the
policecan employ the discretionary powers, which is a flexible way to dispose of social problems,
in a manner that either directs offenders to or diverts them away from, further penetration into the
justice system, they are seen as the gatekeepers of the criminal justicesystem, model authority, and
law abiding enforcement (Rob and Santina, 2015, p.348; Wortley, 2003). They seek to sustain
politically defined order and ordering via tracking, surveillance, and arrest. As such, they require
compliance to command from lower participants and citizens. (Peter and Jeffrey, 2015, p.246).
Discretion is universal and legitimate power applied by criminal justice professionals in modern
policing, which requires employing individual judgment for adjudicating whether they use a legal
sanction in a particular situation (McLaughlin, 2013).

Pros And Cons Of Ban On Tobacco Should Be Banned
The ban is also supported by those who believe it is morally wrong to entice people to engage in a
behavior so detrimental to good health, and further argue that it is a government s responsibility to
protect the health and well being of its peoples. There are also those who base their opposition

financial impact of illness and death on families are staggering. Monies not spent on cigarettes

those centering around limiting the intrusion of government into personal choice and restraint of

through your home s plumbing. You may not realize it, but it s even possible for certain
dishwasher detergents to have a harmful effect if you are not carful. If you want your home s
septic tank to last a long time, use these two products. Septic Tank Friendly Toilet Paper While
you can be diligent about the amount of toilet paper that you use, you cannot monitor the toilet
paper usage of others in your home. If you have people in your home that go a little overboard
with their toilet paper usage, consider switching to a toilet paper that is designed specifically...

You ll be paying a slight premium for the toilet paper, but it will be worth it in the end. You ll
find yourself needing to pump your septic tank less, which could offset the cost of the septic
tank friendly toilet paper. Just remember that switching toilet paper will not eliminate the need
for septic tank pumping. It will need to be done eventually. Liquid Dishwashing Detergent
Dishwashing detergent pods are becoming more popular with homeowners because of how easy
they are to use. They have the exact amount of detergent measured for your dishes, and they don
t make a mess when putting them in. Unfortunately, the plastic pods don t dissolve completely,
and only turn into crumbs of plastic. A septic tank needs all the waste to be organic in order for
it to break it all down. That s why you should avoid using the plastic pods, and stick to liquid
dishwashing detergent that will go straight down the drain without any plastic left behind. Another
way to assist your septic tank when using a dishwasher is to make sure that it is using very hot
water. The detergent will break down chemically much easier when the water is as hot as it can be.
Cold water will cause the detergent to turn into solid chunks that can get caught in the pipes going
to your home s septic

they serve the consumer better and thus try to convert the problem into straight forward problem.
When Bezos started his business, there were different reviews about this business like they say

  • 2. Relationship Between Belstaff And Gender Belstaff and Gender If Belstaff was a person, it would definitely be an intrepid, tough and stylish man, who drinks the best beer and loves classic motos and cars. There are several reasons why Belstaff is perceived as a male brand. The first one is that the brand is intimately related to the moto world, and motorbikes have always been a boy toy. Less than 10% of motorbike buyers are women (CBS news, 2012). It is possible to see signs of moto lifestyles everywhere around Belstaff. In its history and its relationship with figures like the well known bike s lover Steve McQueen and motorcycle trial icon Sammy Miller (Belstaff official website, Adventures section, 2015). • 3. Analysis Of Mark Twain s Advice To Youth In Mark Twain s, Advice to Youth, Twain educates the younger generations by providing his viewpoint of how people of their age should conduct themselves ranging from simple words of wisdom to instructions on how to interact with others in order to sculpt a generation more knowledgeable and intelligent than his own. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt wrote, Joint Address to Congress Leading to a Declaration of War Against Japan, he announced that resulting from provocations from Japan, it was mandatory that the United Statesof America retaliated by engaging in a war against Japan in order to protect the American citizens. In her essay titled, A New Egalitarian Life Style, Gloria Steinem insists that women and black citizens have been treated inadequately starting from when the patriarchy began to reign in order to urge people to strive for equality across the board. However, in Of the Coming of John by W.E.B. Du Bois, the author relates an experience of a black man who had received higher education and as a result could no longer live in complacency with his lower status in society in order to urge the African Americans of the time period to go to college and receive education themselves. This quote appears within the introductory section of the novel when Lane, one of the central characters, must move to a hospital that doubles as a boarding school to receive treatment for his drug resistant case of tuberculosis. He had just seen Sadie, a girl who he used to go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intersectionality In Tony Kushner s Angels In America Perhaps more than any other disease before or since, syphilis... provoked the kind of widespread moral panic that AIDS revived when it struck America in the 1980 s (Allen. Searchquote). Angels in America: Millennium Approaches by Tony Kushner, follows several characters during 1985 1986 in New York, during the Reagan era. This was a time of an emerging gay culture, the spike in HIV/AIDS, and the focusing on furthering and improving one s self. Kushner shows the progressing times and widespread panic and beliefs through his complex characters. Their identities work with and through each other to grant privileges or create oppressions, this is also known as intersectionality. However, how does intersectionality shape the opportunities and obstacles of Kushner s characters Belize, Roy Cohn, and Prior Walter? This essay will explore how each of these characters lead different lives, despite having one thing in common; they are all gay men, facing the fear of contracting AIDS, or knowing someone else who does.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These multiple identities work as a whole, and effect the way that he is perceived. Unfortunately, his life is anything but easy, and it all boils down to intersectionality. Belize is a black male, thus, it is believed and understood that it is already difficult to survive in a white, phallocentric and patriarchal society. However if you re black and male and gay, you have to be stronger than you can imagine (Hooks. 150). Meaning that Belize has to face twice as much oppression, being in two groups that are marginalized from society. Overall his character deals with constant fear of being the victim of homophobic and transphobic violence, racial slurs, and prejudice. We know now how Belize is treated in society as a whole. But how is his character treated with those he is closest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This particular test uses print inkblots in order to test many factors within clients based on how they answer when asked about the pictures. Although Hermann Rorschach never made it known where he got the idea for the Rorschach test, it is believed it was inspired by the game Blotto, which was a game which used inkblots. The Rorschach test was originally used to test patients with schizophrenia during which Rorschach discovered that these patients responded significantly in a different way from others without schizophrenia. Later, Rorschach began working more with the test using forty inkblots in his original studies but only using fifteen of them commonly with his clients. Today, this test is used by highly trained professionals who are studying personality based on scoring clients answers to questions about the inkblots. Genoese and Venetian merchants got infected during a siege of their trading posts at Caffa. They brought the disease with them into the Mediterranean, Constantinople and Europe. Muslim merchants imported plaguefrom Constantinople to Alexandria, Egypt. After that, others spread it to the westward Africa and the Middle East. By 1350, when the Black Death retreated, it had already cut a quarter to half of the region s population. • 9. Off Balance Research Paper Fundamentals of an Off Balance When I first joined judo I never expected to learn so many things in just a small timely manner. Within the first week I already learned how to do throws, takedowns, and submissions which were the basic essentials to mastering judo. Judo explained in the English dictionary means an unarmed combat intended to train the body and mind. The objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. As I continued on doing judo I could not figure out how to successfully execute a throw during the opponent s brief moment of off balance , until one of my upper classmate taught me how to do it correctly because it all depended entirely on timing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s a simple push, shove, or pull in a direction that will take the opponent off balance. In order to win, the opponent must be thrown with control, force, and on their back. By either pushing, shoving, or pulling an opponent off balance, the execution of the actual throw is made substantially easier since they will be leaning in that direction. Think of an off balance in Judo like pushing someone forward and quickly extending a foot out so that they trip and fall. This example shows how timing is everything, extend the foot too late after the push and they won t trip, too early and they might just stumble a bit. It s a crude example, but it shows the relationship between off balance and timing of the execution. Much like how one must quickly extend a foot at the right moment, a Judoka has but a few seconds to off balance and throw an opponent all in one continuous and fluid motion. The timing of the throw during the off balance will determine if it is successful. Without the off balance, a throw is conceivably possible yet substantially more difficult to pull ... • 10. Justification Of Punishment Justified By Ted Honderinch s... Why punish? Is the use of punishment Justified? Ted Honderinch s Punishment: The supposed Justifications Revisited aim to answer these questions. Punishment is at the core of our punitive systems, therefore society needs to establish a well thought out moral explanation as to why we punish and what we aim to achieve with the use of punishment. Honderinch set out to analyze the supposed moral claims that justify the practice of punishment and to determine if they are satisfactory enough for the intentional infliction suffering and deprivation. What are the claims as to why punishment should be morally used? The author looks at three main justifications of punishment. Those who believe that the offender deserves to be chastised for his or her crime justify punishment by appealing to desert thereby retributive in nature thus backward looking. The justification of punishment on forward looking factors justifies punishment for its ability to prevent and reduce crime therefore through punishment the offender is capable of reform and rehabilitation. The third justification is the mixture of both justifications in which punishment is deserved for some past offences, and also it reduces crime. From these Justifications, it is clear that one cannot justify punishment without stating its aim. Honderich argues persuasively that these justifications that these justifications are not satisfactory. Honderinch in his analysis considers numerous backward looking justifications, those ... Katrina initiates to uphold her agency by gaining Ichabod s affections through her flirtatious conduct which parallels with the women of town who are looked upon by Ichabod due to their storytelling skills. The narrator uses diction to initially elicit Katrina as a modern independent lady who She [is] withal a little of a coquette, as might be perceived even in her dress, which [is] a mixture of ancient and modern fashions, as most suited to set her charms. Acknowledge the hidden learning that occurs through traumatic experiences (Horsman 2000b; Williamson 2000). What is learned from trauma and how might educators respond? Studies of people enduring extreme situations suggest that learning is a key to survival in adversity (Williamson 2000). Successful learning is supposed to occur when conditions are right: accessible opportunities, time, appropriate support, safety, motivation, risks with manageable consequences (ibid.). Yet in extreme situations, learning must take place quickly and without the right conditions. What is learned in response to trauma is influenced by prior knowledge, background, familial and social relationships, and personal qualities and abilities (Pearce 1999; Williamson 2000). This is not to blame the victim for inappropriate learning or responses, but to underscore the importance of resources and support and the recognition that learning has to be geared to meet a range of individual needs. These two companies even contributed the term superhero. Neither company owns it, they just share it. Many of the interesting heroes/ heroines have brain powers, body powers, and some are even powerless. This class is the mind boggling brainiac s. Not because they are smart, but because they have brain powers. Brain powers include telekinesis, aqua kinesis, telepathy, and many more. The most classic and recognizable candidate for Brainiac s would be Jean Grey. Jean Grey was 10 years old when her mutant telepathic powers first manifested after experiencing the emotions of a dying friend. ( Jean Grey , 2006, para.1). Her telekinetic abilities allow her to levitate or pick up cars with her mind. She also has telepathic abilities, this allows her to read minds and put thoughts in people s brains. Jean and her amazing powers landed her a spot as one of the founding X Men. Aquaman is another suitable hero for this class. Aquaman, like his name suggests, has the power to control the water. Collapse Of The Minoan Civilization Since the rediscovery of the site of Knossos by Sir Arthur Evans in 1900, the cause of the fall of the Minoan Civilization has been largely debated throughout the years. Scientists and archaeologists have proposed various hypotheses to the mystery, mainly regarding to environmental factors such as the eruption of Thera Volcano and subsequent tsunamis, earthquakes and climate change; or social and political factors like societal conflicts and invasion of the Mycenaeans. This paper examines the relationship between the demise of the Minoan Civilizationand the natural disasters it encountered which severely weakened and eventually led to the downfall of the civilization, and opened the way for Mycenaean domination of Aegean (Middleton, G.D., 2012). The Minoan Civilization was a civilization of the Bronze Age which arose in the island of Crete, Greece and flourished from around 2600 BC to 1100 BC. Place is an important factor in determining people s health and health experiences (Karunanayake et al., 2015) and the neighborhood is vital because it directly impacts the lives of people living there. Saskatoon low income neighborhoods are significantly different in income status, education, employment status, and poverty in comparison to affluent neighborhoods as well as the rest of Saskatoon. The low income neighborhoods in Saskatoon have a high population of residents with an average household income of approximately $40,000 compared to about $84,000 for the entire city (Fuller, Engler Stringer, Muhajarine, 2015) (Cooper, 2014) and these neighborhoods are also referred to as the core neighborhoods . Saskatoon s core neighborhoods including communities of King George, Meadow Green, Pleasant Hill, Riversdale and Westmount (National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health, 2015) consist of a disproportionate proportion of the most vulnerable populations to poverty. Hence, Saskatoon Health Region (SHR) defines its population by using a measure of neighborhood residence and includes Aboriginal status in its analyses (Morrison, 2011) because, First Nations, MГ©tis, and ethnic minorities majorly occupy the low income neighborhoods (Cessna, 2014). Harper Lee chooses to address gender bias in her powerful and provoking novel called To Kill a Mockingbird. Gender bias occurs far too often, and Lee clearly holds a true understanding of the powerful impact it makes on our society as a whole. All through the novel, any reader could easy see the negative impact that gender bias can do to a community, society and even nation. Gender bias most efficiently is portrayed by how Jem and Aunt Alexandra relates to Scout, by the fact that women could not usually work jobs and last of all, the way that Mayella is portrayed and understood in court. Gender bias in Maycomb occurs in Scout s own home between her and her own family members. Jem and Scout would often times fight, like normal siblings, but it was clear that at times, Jem took it too far by speaking words of hurtful bias towards Scout s gender. After Jem hurts her, Scout doubts the power and beauty of being a female by stating, I was not so sure, but Jem told me I was being a girl, that girls always imagined things, that s why other people hated them so, and if I started behaving like one I could just go off and find some to play with (54). When you have a life as traumatizing as hers, It is expected for more struggles to occur later in life. Not everybody will be as fortunate as her and trot with no regression. Understanding technological and ethical factors that lead to piracy, and legal and industrial repercussions to digital piracy are essential to navigating a discussion about whether or not piracy has a great impact on industry or society as a whole. Defining digital piracy is the first and foremost step towards understanding its role in today s world. • 35. Importance Of Lucille Ball More than a pretty face: Before there were women like Oprah Winfrey or Ellen DeGeneres, there was a Lucille Ball. A woman running her own television show, production network, while also maintaining the role as a mother and a wife. Lucille was one of the influential women of her time, impacting society anywhere from interracial dating and marriages, her television show and her pregnancy and what it represented. Lucille Ball paved the road for a woman following a career in comedy, expanding acceptance for women s priorities to not always be that of her physical appearance, and the betterment of her husband and children s lives. In the 1950 s a woman who focused on her own career advancement and self betterment was often considered selfish and self centered, and Lucille Ball was one of the women to prove that stereotype wrong. With so little women at the time in the workplace and drastically fewer women with upper level positions, Lucille Ball stands out. It is not a secret that Lucille Ball was one of the first significant female actresses of her time, but the importance of that role is one that is often overlooked. Not only did Lucille Ball defy traditional domestic roles off screen, but the character Lucy on I Love Lucy, was also untraditional in terms of the 1950s mindset. While Ball is merely looked at as a hilarious television star, the importance of her humorous personality is also valuable. In the 1950 s, the airing period of I Love Lucy, a woman s traditional place in the world was not one of humor and comedy. A woman s role at that time was cooking and cleaning and caring for her husband and children, along with maintaining a beautiful physical appearance. An example of such perfection for the time is the character June Cleaver, from Leave it to Beaver. June was the epitome of a perfect woman for that time. Perfect hair and outfit, always cooking decadently, faultlessly cleaned house, all topped off with curlers in her hair and a smile. In the 1950s and 1960s, a perfect woman would be a domestic, dutiful wife and mother who lacked economic independence, sexuality, voice, or presence of her own, and her identity was crafted by a patriarchal society.
