Evaluate the Effectiveness of Lay People in the Courts
Throughout this section of my assignment I will evaluate the effectiveness of Lay people within
the courts. Throughout the United Kingdom Lay Magistrates are used within our courts and legal
system in relation to sentencing criminals. They work within the Magistrates court dealing with
summary offences, triable either way offences and they also deal with starting off indictable
offences which will then be sentenced in the Crown Court. Lay Magistrates come from local
areas and when appearing at a court they would usually gather three Lay Magistrates. This is in
order for the Lay Magistrates to come together in relation to making a final decision, towards
making their final decision they are able to receive guidance from the court clerk... Show more

These individuals do not have the qualifications in which other magistrates have which will require
lay magistrates to receive basic training in order to process making decisions towards sentences.
With their lack of knowledge this may result in Lenient sentences given Sentences not stable
Relying on the court clerk Inconsistent sentences Longer to analyse cases and come to a decision
Inconsistency in sentencing is due to the lack of knowledge in which lay magistrates obtain and
this creates a negative effect towards the court system. If sentences are inconsistent this means that
the role of courts is not being completed effectively as they should be. Lay magistrates who are
faced with offences may come to final decisions towards sentences which may not be acceptable, if
an individual commits an offence they must receive a sentence which is a punishment towards their
behaviour however with the lack of knowledge which the lay magistrate has, sentences may be
inconsistent. Another aspect involving a lack of knowledge which affects the court system
negatively due to lay magistrates is sentences being too light in comparison to the offence. Within
the magistrates court they deal with summary offences and triable either way offences in which
they must work towards coming to an acceptable sentence, if a lay magistrates has a lack of
experience comparing to the experience which qualified magistrates have this will result in
sentences given being too lenient.

Outsourcing Modern Architecture In Melbourne
Modern architecture is a term referred to the architecture style influenced by modernism
movements at the beginning of the 20th century. Modernism has disseminated from Europe to
Australia by migration of European and travelling Australian architects. Consequently, buildings
carried with modernism started to appear in Melbourne.
The Royal Bank Branch of the E.S. A. Bank was constructed during 1938 41, designed by
Stephenson and Turner. It located at 287 301 Collins Street, the intersection of Collins Street and
Elizabeth Street. As one of the early modern buildings in the city area, it presents a high quality of
finishing that distinguishes from classical architecture, as well it is an extraordinary example of
coalescing modernism into

Animal Tattoos
Animal tattoos are very popular nowadays since they portray characteristics that most people are
fond of. Although favorite animal tattoos are usually about the untamed jungle cats lion, tiger
elephants are steadily claiming the attention of tattoo enthusiasts.
Elephants are strong animals that are respected by ancient cultures of India and Africa. Their
strength is legendary and combined with their massive size; it is not unusual that ancient
civilizations have likened them to great rulers. During war, they were used as psychological
weapons, instilling fear in enemies even before the battle has begun.
These animals are worshipped in India. For them, elephants represent divinity and kindness of
spirit. Ganesh, an Indian God is even depicted as having the head of an elephant. During Hindu
rituals, elephants pose as prominent parts of the occasion. They are usually bathed and anointed in
special oils as part of the ritual.
Unlike most tattoo designs, the elephant s color is not always subject to the person s choosing.
The animal s natural color is the one majorly used by tattoo artist. An albino elephant also holds
great meaning for those who use it. For starters, it is a symbol for the Gods and is thought to be
the most sacred of all elephants. Those who have seen it are considered to be lucky ... Show more

After all, there are very few signs that suggest a feminine side to the strong and powerful beast.
Males are more welcoming with this pattern because of the masculine connotation to the symbol.
Since elephants are normally large in size, you will often find these tattoo designs encompassing a
wide expanse of skin. Two of the most common locations for elephant tattoos include the arms and
the back. However, if a good tattoo artist is capable of downsizing the symbol without lessening its
quality, then you may have it inked on your wrist or

Survival In Auschwitz Research Paper
Arguably the Holocaust affected many innocent people who had no explainable reasons for why
a devastating succession had pointed them out. Germans had no consideration of how much
suffering was occurring they were basically beasts with no lack of remorse. Survival In
Auschwitz, a memoir by Primo Levi, who has also personally lived the tremendous revolution of
the attack towards Jewish people, he writes about the disasters occurring during this occasion, the
way dehumanization had taken people s identity, and a plan to cope with the situation. A
disastrous journey took place around 1943. A vast of Jewish people were captured by the
Germans and with absolutely no knowledge they were being taken to a place of no hope. Behind

Offered And Bewildered Summary
The text, Bothered and Bewildered by Katha Pollitt started from the statistical data about unwed
mothers and developed to the discussion of marriage and social discrimination between male and
female.
The author mentions the percentage who have become mothers without marrying has more than
doubled in the last decade, and public criticize the Feminism, promiscuity, the media, the 60 s for
this increase. However, the author asks us to consider if marriage no longer serves woman very
well. Historically, women wed men to gain money and stable social status, yet in the 1990s , during
which this article was wrote, women are getting the right to earn money themselves, thus they are
able to be independence from men. Furthermore, by revealing the feeble purpose beneath the
discussion about unwed mother by the public, asking woman to self sacrifice, the author shows us
that the best method in helping unwed mothers is treat two sexes equally so that they will both
have the ability to be independence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The increased percentage of unwed mothers in America during 1990s is largely due to the
females born in 1970 s. They were influenced by their parents, who have been through the World
War II. One major influence of World War II on America society is the increase in female status.
During the war, many men, who used to be labor in economic, were sent to the battlefield and
this lack of labor in America economic was fix by accepting women in factory. Thus, those

What Can Black People Learn
Dear Black People: What Can You Learn About the Movie Black Panther? By Sherri Jefferson
Over the course of the last several months, many black people have been anxiously awaiting the

The Battle Of The Confederate Army
William Thomas was 36 and the owner of a plantation in Virginia near Norfolk. He had a wife, two
daughters, and a son who he intended to pass the plantation on to just as he father had to him.
Following the events of Fort Sumter, he elected to join the Confederate army to defend against
what he saw as the Union s invasion.
April 20, 1861 Plantation near Norfolk, VirginiaThe Yanks to the north have the nerve declare
war, and a blockade no less, against us over us taking what is rightfully ours! Fort Sumter is part
of South Carolina and therefore the property of the Confederacy. Those Union soldiers had no
right to refuse handing it over. They claim it was an act of aggression, I say we were just doing
what was necessary to take what was rightfully ours. I won t stand by while Yanks invade our
land and our homes and try to tell us how we should live our lives. Tomorrow, I will leave for
Richmond to join the Confederate Army. I will leave the plantation in my son s charge. I have
taught him how to manage it for when he inherits it himself. With luck, he will be able to manage it
at his own discretion without a bunch of bureaucrats forcing their way into his business.

Meeting Increased Demand Smartly
Meeting Increased Demand Smartly
ABSTRACT
BSE Veterinary Services specializes in performing testing and providing laboratory results on the
status of bovine herds to farmer and meat industries thus eliminating potential contamination to the
food source of the general populace. Currently the company is equipped to accomplish 12,000 tests
per period and has just been requested to increase productivity by 50%. To accomplish this increased
workload and still maintain a profit margin, the management staff will need to generate solutions to

ideas and/or solutions on how to meet the increased demand. However, throughout the cycle the
need to step back and evaluate the process will need to be continually assessed. One of the biggest
concerns on implementation process will be, can they meet the demand with their current set up or
will they need to expand their operations. There are many avenues or traps that must be considered
when making the plan and finally executing. One of the first things that must be considered is can
the current team support the workload? A pitfall that could affect this is the overconfidence bias
(Bauer, 2012). This occurs when the team or management overestimates their ability to meet the
mission. With a fifty percent increase in production, if management doesn t factor in the increased
hours and materials required to perform the task, the company may fail due to lack of supplies and
ultimately burning out their workforce. The next consideration that may factor in could be the
escalation of commitment (Bauer, 2012). This trap focuses on continuing on down the road after
information reveals it may not be the best option. Case in point, at first the employees may enjoy
the increase of pay and entitlements based on the additional hours worked. However,

What are L Oreal s major barriers to pursuing a global strategy ?
Overall
L OrГ©al s decision to fight the European shampoo battle required considerable coordination
between company headquarters and the subsidiaries
Balancing the global strategy for ElsГ©ve with different market characteristics and particularities
was going to be one of the most crucial issues for success.
Competition had traditionally been based on price, which made margins relatively narrow. The
result was a rather lucklustre market where brands were unable to differentiate themselves in the
eyes of the consumer or position themselves to stand out from the rest.
The global strategy had to be implemented in the different markets, bearing in mind that each of ...

not find the brand they were looking for at a superstore, they waited until it was restocked and

The three main shampoo brands in Spain belonged to Procter Gamble.
According to industry experts, demand in the Spanish market showed a trend towards sophisticated

new products that contained technological innovations, as well as professional line products.
Natural ingredients were also very well accepted.
The Spanish market did not differ greatly form other markets, except for the fact that the

One of the main peculiarities of the Spanish market was the Size of the shampoo bottles,

Discovering new unsatisfied need on this market was rather difficult. Shampoo was a basic product
and finding a different positioning was a major challenge.
The level of advertising investment was quite high and improving the brands market share meant

The Life of Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart endures as one of the more endearing characters in American history. In a time
when women played a largely secondary role in American, Amelia Earhart took a leading
position in the developing field of aviation and, in doing so; she displayed an adventurous spirit
that proved to be inspirational for several generations of Americans. Earhart was born in
Atchison, Kansas on July 24, 1897. Her father, Edwin, was an attorney and her mother, Amy, was
a housewife. She had one sister, Muriel, with whom she was very close. After high school, Earhart
worked as a nurse s aide in Philadelphia and briefly studied pre med at Columbia before moving to
California. While in California Ameliabecame interested in aviation and she began taking flying
lessons. Through the financial assistance of her sister, Muriel, and her mother, Amelia was able to
purchase her first airplane in 1922. Amelia eventually returned to the East Coast where she worked
as a social worker. During this time she met her husband, George Putnam, who at the time was
employed as a publisher. Through Putnam s contacts Earhart was able to obtain a seat as a
passenger on a transatlantic flight across the Atlantic Oceanand, in the process, become the first
women to cross the Atlantic by air. This achievement brought Amelia into the public eye and the
publication of her book about her adventures, 20 Hours 40 Minutes, reinforced her

Napoleon Bonaparte As A French Revolution
Started from a mere soldier, Napoleon Bonaparte was able to ascend the throne of an Emperor.
Frequently at war, he schemed and maneuvered his way through politics to be at the top of France.
This brings up the question of what made him want to be the Emperor of France. Napoleon
Bonaparte was a man that genuinely understood his own motives and ambitions. He was able to
foster the motive of saving Francefrom the bloody French Revolutionand ambition of gaining
power by utilizing revolutionary ideas combined with his own to accumulate power and stability of
imperial rule. This occurred due to being a product of the enlightenment, power hungry personality,
ego, and use of manipulation. Firstly, Napoleon was a product of the enlightenment era. He
combined French Revolutionary ideals with his own to further his objective in order to stabilize his
rule and gain the favour of the French population. According to Patterns of World History , life,
liberty, equality, social contract, property, representation, nation, popular sovereignty, and
constitution are the product of French ideals.[1] Napoleon only used liberty and equality which
were the most popular with the citizens.[2] He described that once Italy had tasted the benefits of a
wise and liberal administration, it would be simply impossible for them to return back to their old
way of life.[3] With the concept of liberty and equality incorporated into the constitution, it was
possible that Napoleon wanted the conquered

Backward Giant Circle Essay
I chose to study the physics of one move in gymnastics, the backward giant circle around a bar
because I have seen quite a few performed and helped to coach people to enable them to do this
move. A Backward giant circle occurs when a gymnast rotates 360В° counter clockwise around
a single bar from a handstand on the bar. It appears to be a complete circle, but in fact it is not
because of the forces of gravity, air resistance and friction acting upon the gymnast. However, if
you perceive the skill as a gymnast rotating 360В° around the bar in a flat shape, it appears to
deny the laws of physics as we know them. To be able to achieve this move a gymnast is required
to alter their center of gravity around the bar in order to counteract the forceof gravity on the
upswing, overcome both the frictional resistance of their hands on the bar and air resistance. We
can look at the gravitational pull of the gymnast s massto earth and apply some of Newton s laws of
motion to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the exact shape of these parabolas will be determined by the velocity of the gymnast s
center of gravity before commencing the giant, which consequently is affected by both the gymnast
s height and mass. While in the air the gymnast can change their shape and therefore the distribution
of the mass about the center of gravity, but the flight path of the center of gravity will be unaffected
unless acted upon by some external force.
Newton s first law of motion states that a body will remain at rest , and a body in motion will
remain in motion in a straight line and at a constant speed unless acted upon by external forces.
So a body will only accelerate if an unbalanced force is applied. Therefore, to initiate a backward
giant circle the gymnast must first exert a force to set the body in motion, and this is usually done
by a

Discipline is the process of teaching the child what type of behavior is acceptable and what type is
not acceptable, it teaches a child to follow rules. Discipline may involve both punishment, such as a
time out, and, more importantly, rewards. It sounds so straightforward, yet every parent becomes
frustrated at one time or another with issues surrounding children and discipline.
Every parent wants their children to be happy, respectful, respected by others, and able to find
their place in the world as well behaved adults. Nobody wants to be accused of raising a spoiled

But our goal should not be to turn him into someone he is not.
As my children grew and began to understand the connection between actions and consequences, I
started communicating the rules of our family s home, explained what I expect of them.
Even when disciplining my children I show respect they are more likely to respect me, other family
members, and other people in their life. If I lose it or overreact with disrespect, I apologize.
Actually I behave the way I want them to behave.
For instance, the first time my 3 year old son used pencil to decorate the bedroom wall, I discussed
why that s not allowed and what will happen if he will do it again he will have to help clean the
wall and will not be able to use the pencils for the rest of the day. I explained also that pencils are
for paper only and not for wall.
In other words I establish this kind of I set the rules and you re expected to listen or accept the
consequences standard. Consistency is the key to effective discipline, and it s important to decide
what the rules are and then uphold them. Timeouts also can work well for kids at this age, however
I didn t give them timeouts.
I always reward good behaviors. I know how positive effect my praise can have discipline is not
just about punishment but also about recognizing good behavior.

What Features Of American Society Seem Most For Trouble...
1. What features of American society seem most to trouble the authors of the Port Huron
Statement? When writing the Port Huron Statement, its authors explicitly mentioned two key
features of American society that they found troubling. First, they considered the presence of
racism and overall bigotry in the American South as ...the permeating and victimizing fact of human
degradation (Foner 283). The authors acknowledged the presence of practices that essentially
dehumanized African Americans in the South, claiming that its existence is what ...compelled most
of us from silence to activism (Foner 283). In addition to this, the authors of the Port Huron
Statement were also troubled by the existence of the atom bomb and the possibility that an all out
nuclear war could break out at any given moment. It is stated that the presence of the bomb brought
awareness that ...we ourselves, and our friends, and millions of abstract others...might die at any
time (Foner 283). While contemplating the aforementioned problems in American society, the
authors of the Port Huron Statement also began to rethink the American ideal that all men are
created equal , finding paradoxes between the claim and what was really occurring in American
society. They stated that the declaration ...rang hollow before the facts of Negro life in the South
(Foner 283) and was contradicted by the United States ...economic and military investments in the

Social Practices And Education Will Be Contemplated Essay
Thousands of years after survival of the fittest human races depended upon instruments of warfare,
the pen, a tool not designed for combat, was declared mightier than the sword by Benjamin
Franklin (World of Quotes, 2003). Ironically it was one of the first human weapons, the sharpened
stone, that was a precursor to penand paper when it was used to etch drawings upon cave wall
dwellings (Bellis, 2004). Long use of these concrete implements forged abstractions of them. Pen
and paper have been interiorized into social practices and language (ex. back to the drawing board
), and have been instrumental to the externalization of our innermost thoughts and emotions. Pen
and paper will be examined together as each is the other s raison d etre. The manifold impacts pen
and paper had upon industry, social practices and education will be contemplated.
Cave wall drawings were early means of non verbal self expression, and would empower the
development of symbol systems and alphabets that spurred the onset of literacy (Ong, 1982). Pen
and paper allowed humans to delve deeper into realms of communication and self expression, or
perhaps early mimicry of pen and paper indicated an innate predisposition for humans to express
themselves through this medium. Whatever the case may be, the earliest means which
foreshadowed pen and paper involved a stylus of bone, metal or ivory used to place marks on wax
coated tablets called tabula cevata. These inexpensive tablets were in widespread

The lively characteristic of Jack is considerably one of the contributing factor to his strong
leadership skills. As a partial motivational speaker, Jack is often known for giving speeches

The Relation Between Birds and Dinosaurs Essay
The Relation Between Birds and Dinosaurs
One question that has stumped many paleontologists for centuries is, Are birds dinosaurs?
Paleontologists have argued back and forth trying to prove or disprove each side of the theory. So
far, advocates have supported their side through the facts of similar bone structures, bone
organization, and the idea that dinosaurs had feathers. A common reaction that some people might
have about the question is that there is no connection between the two species. Their main
reasoning for this conclusion is based on the belief that the two do not have any similar
characteristics. I too believed that there was no correlation between the two animals. However, after
extensive research, I have completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the dinosaur found in this position is assumed to be warm blooded, another similarity
shared between birds and dinosaurs (Lemmonick 74 par. 1,7).
Some skeptics might argue that there is no possible way that a dinosaur was found in the
crouching position. They might also reason that when a dinosaur dies, it lies down and dies. I
can agree with this statement somewhat, but I have a few reasons for believing that the dinosaur
was discovered in the position they claimed. One idea is that the dinosaur could have been
propped up against a hill or by something big and sturdy. Another explanation for the dinosaur s
position is that the dinosaur could have died in its sleep. To the best of my knowledge, dinosaurs
sleep standing up, or at least they did in all the Jurassic Park movies. There is more logic
supporting the fact that a dinosaur was found in the crouching position than disproving it.
In addition to having similar bone structures, birds and dinosaurs also have hollow bones. Hollow
bones are believed to reduce the weight of animals, which requires less work for flying. In
actuality, the hollowness reduces the weight of the animal by only a minute percentage. Therefore,
it is theorized that hollow bones originated long before flight was introduced. One possible
function of the hollow bones was to cool down the body faster, by allowing air to flow through the
bones. Another practicality for hollow bones is the idea that they could

My Observation Of My Observational Assignment
For my observational assignment I chose the first option which was to observe children or
adolescents. The two children that I observed were about three years old. It was one male and
one female. The children were playing with each other in a play area at a shopping mall. The
two children would spend a few minutes engaged in the same activity, but then would break up
to play individually. The personality traits that I noticed about the little girl was that she seemed
to be extremely out going. She did not appear to be afraid of anything. The little girl was very
loud, and bold, and made her presence known. It also seemed as though she would run away
from her mother, rather than sticking close by as instructed to. The little boy on the other hand
seemed to be quite the opposite. He seemed a little bit more reserved, maybe even shy. The little
girl seemed a bit bossy instructing the boy on what to do. I noticed that when she demonstrated
this behavior, it prompted the separation and they played individually. This however only lasted a
few moments and the children were back to playing with one another. I did notice that after some
time the little boy seemed to loosen up his shyness and begin to act more outgoing like the little
girl. This leads me to believe that his behavior is influenced more so by his environment than his
genetics. It is possible to say that he is genetically predisposed to be more reserved, but
environmental factors can influence him to become a more

Seven Years War Or Carlina War
Seven Years War or Carlina War is the conflict between England and France, from 1756 1763,
extending from the territory of the United States to Europe. Its origin is developed with the Franco
British economic and colonial rivalry in the United States and India and the occupation of the
French states of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, in North America, by British settlers installed on
the northeast coast. In response, the French troops allied indigenous tribes and attacked the thirteen
British colonies in the region. Against the French invested, colonies joined the British Crown,
leaving aside trade frictions with the metropolis. Englandis victorious the conflict, called by the

Child Workers During The Industrial Revolution
There were child workers part of the Industrial Revolution and there were some kids that worked in

Conference Africa s lad became useless, and the Africans were left with nothing. During both these
time the child workers were more negatively impacted.
The children started working when they were four or five years old, and they were working full

deformities of the pelvis and consequent difficult, even fatal, child bearing arise from the work of

Like humans do, fish also need proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals
unfortunately there are not many food which contain all the necessities2. This is tackled by
feeding fish a combination of flake, frozen and fresh food. Frozen food can cause problems for
fish if the food is not defrosted thoroughly as their intestinal lining is very sensitive and does not
tolerate cold food very well. Once the food is thawed properly it can be kept for two days
refrigerated but then must throw away. Fresh food which is given to fish consist of plants, animals,

Ho : The different temperature will have no effect on the fish flake food.
2.Method
First of all the solution Copper Sulphate (CuSO4) was made into a solution using 2.49g CuSO4 in
100ml of water.
Then 0.52g of the fish flakes was weighed out and placed into the pestle mortar and grinded up,
which 10ml of distilled water was then added to make a solution. Once the solution was made it
was then divided equally into five centrifuge tubes and spun for 5 minutes each time in the
centrifuge, (the 5th tube was balanced out in the centrifuge by a tube filled with water).
From each centrifuge tube 1ml was placed into separate test tubes, and then 1ml of CuSO4 and
Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) which gives copper hydroxide (Cu(OH)2), if the colour changed to blue
/violet then proteins where present within the solution.
A cuvette was filled with distilled water and place within the colorimeter to calibrate it before the
solutions were placed in if there was a colour change. If a colour change was present (blue/violet
protein is present) the solutions was then transferred into separate cuvettes and placed in the
colorimeter. The colorimeter was set at 580nm and then the readings from it were recorded within a
table.

Social Expectations Of Love
Love is not a concept easily defined to its fullest capacity. It has been personified, resented, and
over exaggerated throughout the history of drama and has left readers on the edge of their seats
as plots unfold. With love, there are no set guidelines or feelings that can go along with a person s
actions, but there are societal expectations that cause a couple a great deal of misery if their love
does not fit within them. Renaissance dramas often broke through these expectations to
challenge the way people viewed and thought about love. Love is portrayed as a means for
freedom, a lustful exchange, and a reward for not following social expectations in the plays The
Duchess of Malfi, Tis a Pity She s a Whore, and The Shoemaker s Holiday proving that it is an
aloof social construct with a range of meanings. In the play The Duchess of Malfi, love is a
means of keeping an acquired freedom. For the title character, the Duchess, she earned a peculiar
freedom when her first husband died. She gained his political power and essentially her own
freedom. In the beginning of the play, her brothers, the Cardinal and Ferdinand, threaten this
freedom by all but forbidding her to remarry: Marry? They are most luxurious/Will wed twice
(Webster, John. 1.1.299 300). The margins tell us that Luxurious , in this case, means lecherous,
suggesting to The Duchess that this would be her if she were to remarry. Ferdinand s insistence
the remarriage is a bad idea is for two reasons. One, he

Woodhouse (1996): Green (1998); Penney (1999) imply that, the National Curriculum of Physical
Education, objectives and general requirements are not fully appreciated and understood by pupils

Harris (1994); Macdonald et al (2005) studies have shown that young people value PE for the
cathartic function it can provide and because it was seen as enjoyable subject where the pupils can
have fun and be with friends (Harris, 1994:145) while playing team games (Macdonald et al., 2005).
Flintoff Scraton (2001:10) explain from their study that pupils see the key purpose of PE as a

The New Meaning Of Educational Change Essay
According to Michael Fullan (2016) in his book, The New Meaning of Educational Change,
successful organizations that demonstrate change followed principled concepts of change. The
reason for their success if that there is tangible proof of alignment in keeping components of
actions. Fullan (2016) stated that successful change incorporates five factors. In this essay, three
of the five factors will be discussed and an example of an organization using components of the
change be revealed. Often when organization shave to go through the process of change it means
either they have gone through change to repair broken areas or they are going through change as
a reflective exercise before embarking on a larger scope of practice perhaps to expand into new
growth within their organization. In either course, the larger concern is that organizations must
embrace change and engage in meaningful constructed ways to promote the best growth with the
fewest steps to reach accomplishment. A key decision factor to change is whether an organize
will change because they adopt a model and see a better way or whether they want to save their
resources. Fullan (2016) suggested that the reason for the change is largely to work is because, the
organizations, Define closing the gap as the overarching goal, Assume that lack of capacity is the
initial problem and then work on it continuously, and Stay the course through continuity of good
direction by leveraging leadership, (Fullan, 2016,

Analysis Of The Article Vale Expansion Puts Australia s...
The article Vale expansion puts Australia s global mining market share at risk, Roy Hill head warns
is a rather simple business news piece communicating Vale s decision to increase production with
third party commentary responding to the announcement. At high level it focuses on the actions of
firms in the iron ore production market and in doing so reveals a range of drivers influencing
decision making by firms. These decisions can be described and understood through economic
theory. Vale is not the only iron ore producer in the market so consideration of the market structure
is important to understand firm decision making. In determining the market structure it is important
to first clarify which market is being analysed. The market... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The chart provides information by four firms, Fortescue Metals Group (FMG), Vale, Rio Tinto,
BHP (WAIO) and the rest of the world. According to this data set these four producers accounts
for approximately 65% 70% of iron ore produced for the export market. This suggests the market
has medium level of concentration reflecting a scenario of monopolistic competition. Another
aspect to consider when examining the iron ore export market is the degree of product
differentiation between iron ore producing firms. Product differentiation impacts the ability or
preference of buyers to substitute products, in this case iron ore, produced by different firms.
Iron ore is mined in a variety of different types; hematite, goethite, limonite and magnetite which
contain different concentrations of iron. If the iron ore of a firm is considered to be of higher
quality than other firms, then lower quality iron ore from other firms may be considered an
imperfect substitute . Firms may undertake at additional cost beneficiation processes cost to
improve their product. The article notes Vale will offer a 63 per cent blended product to the
market which would compete directly with Australian producers. This implies consumers could
easily substitute the iron ore from other produces in favor of Vale s product. Over the last 15 years
the demand of iron ore has steadily increased and then fallen. Figures 3.3 and 3.11 below outline the

Imperefct Charity in Bartleby, the Scrivener Essay
One typically displays acts of charity for the love of mankind or benefit of society. However,
differentiating whether a generous deed reflects altruistic behavior or selfishness can be difficult.
In Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener, the lawyer performs charitable conduct toward
Bartleby to acquire self approval and an honorable conscience.
The lawyer employs Bartleby, a lifeless man, as a copyist for his law firm. In the beginning of his
employment, Bartleby works efficiently. However, Bartleby soon begins to deny the tasks
assigned to him with the statement, I would prefer not to (1184). While irritated at Bartleby s
response, the lawyer disregards his behavior. Typically, this type of behavior would result in...

This demonstrates that the lawyer provides charity exclusively for self gratifying motives and
without concern for the wellbeing of Bartleby.
As the lawyer continues to generously employ Bartleby for his own personal fulfillment, he
eventually becomes annoyed with Bartleby s repetitive rejections of his assigned tasks. The
lawyer s anger escalates to a point where he physically attacks Bartleby, and for a split second,
contemplates murdering him. Yet, the lawyer s thoughts of murder cease when he recalls the
divine rule, to love one another. Nevertheless, the lawyer goes on to explain that the main
principle which drives charity is a great safeguard to its possessor (1197). The lawyer indicates a
sensibility to loving Bartleby because of the direct benefit to himself. The lawyer s love for
Bartleby does not derive itself from generosity, but the mere self interest [that] prompt all beings to
charity and philanthropy (1197). In this particular case, the lawyer selfishly performs charity for
fear that he might be imprudent enough to murder Bartleby.
The lawyer portrays his self interest when he moves his office and abandons Bartleby, due to his
negative affect on the business. Because Bartleby continues to annoyingly dawdle around the old
office, the lawyer attempts to rid the building of Bartleby, for the lawyer is fearful of being
exposed (1201) and criticized by the public. Clearly, the lawyer speaks to Bartleby in hopes of
relieving himself from any

Behavioral The Musky Rat Kangaroo feeds on leaves and fruit instead of grass as it lives up in
trees as well as the fact that the kangaroos main predators live on the grounds of the rainforest
and so being an arboreal animal makes it so they do not need to go to the ground. The eucalyptus

An Analysis Of David Slaying Goliath By Peter Paul Rubens
David Slaying Goliath by Peter Paul Rubens is an example of Renaissance art. This painting
depicts a well known Bible story of a young Israelite boy named David who kills the giant,
Goliath, with a slingshot, and chops off his head with a sword. Rubens has chosen to illustrate this
Bible story at the moment when David is about to hack off Goliath s head with the giant s sword.
In addition, we see armor clad soldiers rushing into battle in the background. In David Slaying
Goliath, Peter Paul Rubensuses color, value, and line to illustrate the dynamism and energy within
the painting that makes it look realistic. In addition, these elements contribute to the sense of
excitement and anticipation of the event depicted. First of all, Rubens uses dark and lightcolors
throughout the painting to emphasize movement and fluidity. The most obvious use of
movement through color appears on David. David s bright red drapery is what draws our eyes
in first because David is the most important object in the painting. The different shades of red
emphasize movement because it accentuates the folds of the drapery, making it flow. The warmth
of the red in his drapery contrasting with the darkness of the ground gives off intensity and
seriousness of the scene. Furthermore, there is bright red blood on Goliath s forehead, where
David struck him with a rock. The red blood sticks out, making the scene a bit more realistic and
exciting. The dark and light colors used in the sky also shows

Emotional Flexibility Module Analysis
Module 5 spoke of adaptive leaders and included many elements of adaptability. I found the
Emotional Flexibility concept to be the most important in the module. The concept describes one s
ability to consider their own emotions versus the emotions of others. I found emotional flexibility
to be very important because considering others emotions is key in successfully enforcing change.
Change is an exchange or give and take between the agents advocating for it, and the individuals
affected. Often times the change process is faced with many concerns and sometimes resistance due
to differences in opinions and emotions between the parties involved (leaders and followers). The
negative impact this concept would have on subordinates, peers,... Show more content on

I will focus on active listening, while balancing when to be compassionate versus when to be
firm. I will encourage understanding the difference between empathy and sympathy, which will
help us identify how to quickly, and effectively help our people overcome negative emotions.
Although we should welcome the expression of negative feelings, we should not allow it to
fester. Application of this concept will cause subordinates to develop a higher sense of trust and
loyalty to me as a leader. I will have enabled open, effective discussions, when faced with
opposing views from them. This in turn will allow me to maneuver the unit s intent (change),
while accounting for the airmen s concerns. My peers will develop increased confidence in my
competence, as they see how the application of the concept is benefiting our airmen. This will also
erase possible misunderstanding between my peers and myself because they too, will see and feel
that their emotions matter. The concept of emotional flexibility is a great tool for productive
interpersonal relationships. Hence, its application will further develop and strengthen the
relationships I have with my supervisors, enabling them to empower me to be a change agent, or
assume the role of an executor when various tasks

Oh Rascal Children Of Gaza And Inside Out
The authors of the poems Oh Rascal Children of Gaza and Inside Out dissimilarly utilize
flashback in order to demonstrate the theme of appreciating what one may have before it s gone.
The poem Oh Rascal Children of Gaza, written by Khaled Juma, depicts a flashback of when a
certain group of children were present, expressed through the memories of the narrator. In the
beginning of the poem, the narrator has a distinct negative connotation of the children. The poem
opens with the line Oh rascal children of Gaza, and proceeds to list all the commotion they caused;
You who constantly disturbed me with your screams under my window/You who filled every
morning with rush and chaos/You who broke my vase and stole the lonely flower on my... Show

The narrator of the poem bounces back and forth between what the people of Gaza were
experiencing and what the spectators in Brazil were experiencing. The first change of scenery is
seen in lines 1 4 of the poem, People inside out/on the streets in their loved ones /arms people
screaming/in football stadiums (Beck). The people of Gaza are holding each other because they
are scared of the attack, while the spectators of the World Cup are shouting with passion for their
team to make a pass, or score a goal. Throughout the next few lines of the poem the bombings in
Gaza are illustrated, there s an old woman/who dies holding/her spoon waiting/ for iftar/which
comes but so do/the rockets (Beck 10 16). In the latter of the poem, a very significant and
moving shift between the two settings is shown, a player kisses a trophy/his wife his son/a
mother/kisses a dead child/grief inside out (Beck 50 54). The contrast between the settings
themselves is what really emphasizes the poem s theme of appreciating what one may have, as
the player is kissing his wife, son, and trophy, out of joy, but the mother is kissing her child who
has been killed, out of grief. The people viewing the World Cup were oblivious to the occurrences
in Gaza, which is what Zeina Hashem Beck was getting across to the

Some benefits of this include less patient mix up, being able to access the patient information in
real time, and fewer mistakes due to human error during data recording. Productivity would

Alzheimer disease, the most common form of dementia which has no cure till date, the most
common symptoms is difficult to remember recent events. This has place great burden on
caregivers as they have to constantly look after the patient, worrying them lose track in middle of
nowhere. By implanting RFID tags in those patients, it is easy to identify and monitor the location
and keep track of those patients with Alzheimer disease for their safety purposes.
Alerting services can identify possible human errors and warn care providers in case of danger. For
example, automatic sponge counting by RFID can avoid sponge left inside the patient body.

Invisible Workers In The Simpsons
America has had large expanses in technology: from the invention of the iPhone, which
revolutionized how the cell phone was viewed and used, to websites like eBay and Amazon that
are able to give quick easy access to whatever item that person so desires on that given day. But
when an individual is purchasing an iPhone5 or using one of these shopping websites, they rarely
think about the person who work to build those iPhones or ship out those items. These Invisible
Workers , those who work behind the scenes, rarely get the credit or the respect they deserve and
are often mistreated and abused because of it. Because of society s natural desire to consume,
businesses have the ability to treat any of their workers unfairly and allows for the... Show more

Because of the fear to unionize or the fear of fighting back at all, the continued cycle of abuse
does tend to continue due to inaction. But does this solely lie on the backs of the workers? In
the case of overseas workers, they work hours on end in horrid conditions, their children
sometimes working alongside them in order to even come close to making ends meet and it
comes short even then. Anything they do can risk their job and any tiny mistake ruining the rest of
their lives in this oppressed environment. So yes, out of fear workers do not tend to fight back but
this out of necessity to protect their families from losing what in most cases is their only source of
income. In the case of American society, the workers are hidden behind technologywhere
consumers automatically assume everything is done by computers . Though American workers
are treated better, they still have to contend with being replaced by machines and worry about
companies taking their jobs away. While it can be said that this is due to the advancement of
technology, there is no compensation whatsoever for the worker when he or she is inevitably
replaced. They are forced out, without any regard for their families or their

Zeitoun Rhetorical Essay

Rough Draft: Rhetorical Analysis Essay
David Eggers, in Zeitoun, shows a story of a Muslim American family living through many
challenges. After 9/11 Muslim families, like the Zeitouns, face many problems living in America.
Eggers wants to inform other Americans on the situation of Muslim living in the United States,
present day. People who are uneducated about the Muslim religion need to be informed on how
similar lives are of other people all around the United States. These people throw out stereotypes and
aim judgments wrongly at the Zeitoun family. Unjust treatment of the Zeitoun family is a cause of
assuming and stereotypes. In this biography, Eggers helps inform his readers about ... Show more

There are many examples of pathos in Zeitoun because Eggers uses a lot of charged language,
stories, and objects that create an emotion in the readers.
There is less of the logical appeal, logos, in Zeitoun but Eggers does present it. Using cause and
effect, comparisons, and statistics, Eggers supports his argument through this logical appeal. An
example of cause and effect would be the 9/11 example. Since this tragedy happen, many more
stereotypes were brought upon Muslims, especially those living in America. After 9/11, Zeitoun
found it more difficult to live in New Orleans. The cause was 9/11 and the effect was how the
Muslim Americans were treated after the happening. Eggers also makes comparisons between the
Muslim religion and the Christian view. These facts appeal to the reader s intelligence and could
also build upon their education of each religion. When Kathy is converting, Eggers states the
similarities of each religion; At first she was simply intrigued by the basic things she didn t know,
and the many things she d wrongly presumed. She had no idea, for instance, that the Qur an was
filled with the same people as the Bible (Eggers, 61). Eggers goes on to compare Christianity to the
Muslim faith, and points out that there are many different types of Muslims just like there are
many types of Christians. Along with comparisons, the book has many statistics referencing to the
hurricane. An example would be, by date, the death toll when Kathy is waiting

Section 9: Auditing Cash and Revenues often simply focus on confirming the accuracy of numbers
and often do not catch bigger picture issues relating to evidence quality. These issues are included
to help students realize the need for professional skepticism when obtaining and evaluating
evidence and help them pay attention to more than just the numbers. To help the instructor make a
vivid and lasting impression about evidence quality, a copy of the fraudulent faxed confirmation
form used by Parmalat is included in these notes so the instructor can make an overhead to use in
class. The actual forged Parmalat fax can be used to create a vivid learning experience for students.
USE OF CASE
This case gives students real world experience doing a task they will probably perform soon after
graduation and simulates a situation similar to the Parmalat fraud by including a questionable faxed
confirmation form. Students should become familiar with the documents used to audit cash
accounts and learn how to properly document work using tick marks. The case is intended to go

  • 2. Evaluate the Effectiveness of Lay People in the Courts Throughout this section of my assignment I will evaluate the effectiveness of Lay people within the courts. Throughout the United Kingdom Lay Magistrates are used within our courts and legal system in relation to sentencing criminals. They work within the Magistrates court dealing with summary offences, triable either way offences and they also deal with starting off indictable offences which will then be sentenced in the Crown Court. Lay Magistrates come from local areas and when appearing at a court they would usually gather three Lay Magistrates. This is in order for the Lay Magistrates to come together in relation to making a final decision, towards making their final decision they are able to receive guidance from the court clerk... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These individuals do not have the qualifications in which other magistrates have which will require lay magistrates to receive basic training in order to process making decisions towards sentences. With their lack of knowledge this may result in Lenient sentences given Sentences not stable Relying on the court clerk Inconsistent sentences Longer to analyse cases and come to a decision Inconsistency in sentencing is due to the lack of knowledge in which lay magistrates obtain and this creates a negative effect towards the court system. If sentences are inconsistent this means that the role of courts is not being completed effectively as they should be. Lay magistrates who are faced with offences may come to final decisions towards sentences which may not be acceptable, if an individual commits an offence they must receive a sentence which is a punishment towards their behaviour however with the lack of knowledge which the lay magistrate has, sentences may be inconsistent. Another aspect involving a lack of knowledge which affects the court system negatively due to lay magistrates is sentences being too light in comparison to the offence. Within the magistrates court they deal with summary offences and triable either way offences in which they must work towards coming to an acceptable sentence, if a lay magistrates has a lack of experience comparing to the experience which qualified magistrates have this will result in sentences given being too lenient. ... Although favorite animal tattoos are usually about the untamed jungle cats lion, tiger elephants are steadily claiming the attention of tattoo enthusiasts. Elephants are strong animals that are respected by ancient cultures of India and Africa. Their strength is legendary and combined with their massive size; it is not unusual that ancient civilizations have likened them to great rulers. During war, they were used as psychological weapons, instilling fear in enemies even before the battle has begun. These animals are worshipped in India. For them, elephants represent divinity and kindness of spirit. Ganesh, an Indian God is even depicted as having the head of an elephant. During Hindu rituals, elephants pose as prominent parts of the occasion. They are usually bathed and anointed in special oils as part of the ritual. Unlike most tattoo designs, the elephant s color is not always subject to the person s choosing. The animal s natural color is the one majorly used by tattoo artist. An albino elephant also holds great meaning for those who use it. For starters, it is a symbol for the Gods and is thought to be the most sacred of all elephants. The author mentions the percentage who have become mothers without marrying has more than doubled in the last decade, and public criticize the Feminism, promiscuity, the media, the 60 s for this increase. However, the author asks us to consider if marriage no longer serves woman very well. Historically, women wed men to gain money and stable social status, yet in the 1990s , during which this article was wrote, women are getting the right to earn money themselves, thus they are able to be independence from men. Furthermore, by revealing the feeble purpose beneath the discussion about unwed mother by the public, asking woman to self sacrifice, the author shows us that the best method in helping unwed mothers is treat two sexes equally so that they will both have the ability to be independence. ... One of the biggest concerns on implementation process will be, can they meet the demand with their current set up or will they need to expand their operations. There are many avenues or traps that must be considered when making the plan and finally executing. One of the first things that must be considered is can the current team support the workload? A pitfall that could affect this is the overconfidence bias (Bauer, 2012). This occurs when the team or management overestimates their ability to meet the mission. With a fifty percent increase in production, if management doesn t factor in the increased hours and materials required to perform the task, the company may fail due to lack of supplies and ultimately burning out their workforce. The next consideration that may factor in could be the escalation of commitment (Bauer, 2012). Frequently at war, he schemed and maneuvered his way through politics to be at the top of France. This brings up the question of what made him want to be the Emperor of France. Napoleon Bonaparte was a man that genuinely understood his own motives and ambitions. He was able to foster the motive of saving Francefrom the bloody French Revolutionand ambition of gaining power by utilizing revolutionary ideas combined with his own to accumulate power and stability of imperial rule. This occurred due to being a product of the enlightenment, power hungry personality, ego, and use of manipulation. Firstly, Napoleon was a product of the enlightenment era. He combined French Revolutionary ideals with his own to further his objective in order to stabilize his rule and gain the favour of the French population. According to Patterns of World History , life, liberty, equality, social contract, property, representation, nation, popular sovereignty, and constitution are the product of French ideals.[1] Napoleon only used liberty and equality which were the most popular with the citizens.[2] He described that once Italy had tasted the benefits of a wise and liberal administration, it would be simply impossible for them to return back to their old way of life.[3] With the concept of liberty and equality incorporated into the constitution, it was possible that Napoleon wanted the conquered ... • 17. Backward Giant Circle Essay I chose to study the physics of one move in gymnastics, the backward giant circle around a bar because I have seen quite a few performed and helped to coach people to enable them to do this move. A Backward giant circle occurs when a gymnast rotates 360В° counter clockwise around a single bar from a handstand on the bar. It appears to be a complete circle, but in fact it is not because of the forces of gravity, air resistance and friction acting upon the gymnast. However, if you perceive the skill as a gymnast rotating 360В° around the bar in a flat shape, it appears to deny the laws of physics as we know them. To be able to achieve this move a gymnast is required to alter their center of gravity around the bar in order to counteract the forceof gravity on the upswing, overcome both the frictional resistance of their hands on the bar and air resistance. Newton s first law of motion states that a body will remain at rest , and a body in motion will remain in motion in a straight line and at a constant speed unless acted upon by external forces. So a body will only accelerate if an unbalanced force is applied. • 23. Social Practices And Education Will Be Contemplated Essay Thousands of years after survival of the fittest human races depended upon instruments of warfare, the pen, a tool not designed for combat, was declared mightier than the sword by Benjamin Franklin (World of Quotes, 2003). Ironically it was one of the first human weapons, the sharpened stone, that was a precursor to penand paper when it was used to etch drawings upon cave wall dwellings (Bellis, 2004). Long use of these concrete implements forged abstractions of them. Pen and paper have been interiorized into social practices and language (ex. back to the drawing board ), and have been instrumental to the externalization of our innermost thoughts and emotions. Pen and paper will be examined together as each is the other s raison d etre. The manifold impacts pen and paper had upon industry, social practices and education will be contemplated. Cave wall drawings were early means of non verbal self expression, and would empower the development of symbol systems and alphabets that spurred the onset of literacy (Ong, 1982). Pen and paper allowed humans to delve deeper into realms of communication and self expression, or perhaps early mimicry of pen and paper indicated an innate predisposition for humans to express themselves through this medium. Whatever the case may be, the earliest means which foreshadowed pen and paper involved a stylus of bone, metal or ivory used to place marks on wax coated tablets called tabula cevata. • 25. The Relation Between Birds and Dinosaurs Essay The Relation Between Birds and Dinosaurs One question that has stumped many paleontologists for centuries is, Are birds dinosaurs? Paleontologists have argued back and forth trying to prove or disprove each side of the theory. So far, advocates have supported their side through the facts of similar bone structures, bone organization, and the idea that dinosaurs had feathers. A common reaction that some people might have about the question is that there is no connection between the two species. Their main reasoning for this conclusion is based on the belief that the two do not have any similar characteristics. I too believed that there was no correlation between the two animals. Therefore, the dinosaur found in this position is assumed to be warm blooded, another similarity shared between birds and dinosaurs (Lemmonick 74 par. 1,7). Some skeptics might argue that there is no possible way that a dinosaur was found in the crouching position. They might also reason that when a dinosaur dies, it lies down and dies. I can agree with this statement somewhat, but I have a few reasons for believing that the dinosaur was discovered in the position they claimed. One idea is that the dinosaur could have been propped up against a hill or by something big and sturdy. Another explanation for the dinosaur s position is that the dinosaur could have died in its sleep. To the best of my knowledge, dinosaurs sleep standing up, or at least they did in all the Jurassic Park movies. There is more logic supporting the fact that a dinosaur was found in the crouching position than disproving it. In addition to having similar bone structures, birds and dinosaurs also have hollow bones. Hollow bones are believed to reduce the weight of animals, which requires less work for flying. In actuality, the hollowness reduces the weight of the animal by only a minute percentage. Therefore, it is theorized that hollow bones originated long before flight was introduced. One possible function of the hollow bones was to cool down the body faster, by allowing air to flow through the bones. Another practicality for hollow bones is the idea that they could ... The two children that I observed were about three years old. It was one male and one female. The children were playing with each other in a play area at a shopping mall. The two children would spend a few minutes engaged in the same activity, but then would break up to play individually. The personality traits that I noticed about the little girl was that she seemed to be extremely out going. She did not appear to be afraid of anything. The little girl was very loud, and bold, and made her presence known. It also seemed as though she would run away from her mother, rather than sticking close by as instructed to. The little boy on the other hand seemed to be quite the opposite. He seemed a little bit more reserved, maybe even shy. The little girl seemed a bit bossy instructing the boy on what to do. I noticed that when she demonstrated this behavior, it prompted the separation and they played individually. This however only lasted a few moments and the children were back to playing with one another. I did notice that after some time the little boy seemed to loosen up his shyness and begin to act more outgoing like the little girl. This leads me to believe that his behavior is influenced more so by his environment than his genetics. • 32. Social Expectations Of Love Love is not a concept easily defined to its fullest capacity. It has been personified, resented, and over exaggerated throughout the history of drama and has left readers on the edge of their seats as plots unfold. With love, there are no set guidelines or feelings that can go along with a person s actions, but there are societal expectations that cause a couple a great deal of misery if their love does not fit within them. Renaissance dramas often broke through these expectations to challenge the way people viewed and thought about love. Love is portrayed as a means for freedom, a lustful exchange, and a reward for not following social expectations in the plays The Duchess of Malfi, Tis a Pity She s a Whore, and The Shoemaker s Holiday proving that it is an aloof social construct with a range of meanings. In the play The Duchess of Malfi, love is a means of keeping an acquired freedom. For the title character, the Duchess, she earned a peculiar freedom when her first husband died. She gained his political power and essentially her own freedom. In the beginning of the play, her brothers, the Cardinal and Ferdinand, threaten this freedom by all but forbidding her to remarry: Marry? They are most luxurious/Will wed twice (Webster, John. 1.1.299 300). According to this data set these four producers accounts for approximately 65% 70% of iron ore produced for the export market. This suggests the market has medium level of concentration reflecting a scenario of monopolistic competition. Another aspect to consider when examining the iron ore export market is the degree of product differentiation between iron ore producing firms. Product differentiation impacts the ability or preference of buyers to substitute products, in this case iron ore, produced by different firms. Iron ore is mined in a variety of different types; hematite, goethite, limonite and magnetite which contain different concentrations of iron. This painting depicts a well known Bible story of a young Israelite boy named David who kills the giant, Goliath, with a slingshot, and chops off his head with a sword. Rubens has chosen to illustrate this Bible story at the moment when David is about to hack off Goliath s head with the giant s sword. In addition, we see armor clad soldiers rushing into battle in the background. In David Slaying Goliath, Peter Paul Rubensuses color, value, and line to illustrate the dynamism and energy within the painting that makes it look realistic. In addition, these elements contribute to the sense of excitement and anticipation of the event depicted. First of all, Rubens uses dark and lightcolors throughout the painting to emphasize movement and fluidity. The most obvious use of movement through color appears on David. David s bright red drapery is what draws our eyes in first because David is the most important object in the painting. The different shades of red emphasize movement because it accentuates the folds of the drapery, making it flow. The warmth of the red in his drapery contrasting with the darkness of the ground gives off intensity and seriousness of the scene. Pride And Prejudice Analysis Essay Analysis of Jane Austin s Pride and Prejudice Jane Austin s Pride and Prejudice is a novel which primarily focuses on conquering obstacles, virtue, self awareness and happiness. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the two of the largest themes being marriage and class, amongst others, as well as the structure of the novel to highlight the thematic link between the two extracts and character creation. The structure of the book is a novel as it has multiple chapters which rules out any other options. The novel is written in the third person as it does not make use of personal pronouns and comes off across as being written from a distance in chapters one and three. • 43. Emotional Flexibility Module Analysis Module 5 spoke of adaptive leaders and included many elements of adaptability. I found the Emotional Flexibility concept to be the most important in the module. The concept describes one s ability to consider their own emotions versus the emotions of others. I found emotional flexibility to be very important because considering others emotions is key in successfully enforcing change. Change is an exchange or give and take between the agents advocating for it, and the individuals affected. Often times the change process is faced with many concerns and sometimes resistance due to differences in opinions and emotions between the parties involved (leaders and followers). The negative impact this concept would have on subordinates, peers,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will focus on active listening, while balancing when to be compassionate versus when to be firm. I will encourage understanding the difference between empathy and sympathy, which will help us identify how to quickly, and effectively help our people overcome negative emotions. Although we should welcome the expression of negative feelings, we should not allow it to fester. Application of this concept will cause subordinates to develop a higher sense of trust and loyalty to me as a leader. I will have enabled open, effective discussions, when faced with opposing views from them. This in turn will allow me to maneuver the unit s intent (change), while accounting for the airmen s concerns. My peers will develop increased confidence in my competence, as they see how the application of the concept is benefiting our airmen. This will also erase possible misunderstanding between my peers and myself because they too, will see and feel that their emotions matter. The concept of emotional flexibility is a great tool for productive interpersonal relationships. Hence, its application will further develop and strengthen the relationships I have with my supervisors, enabling them to empower me to be a change agent, or assume the role of an executor when various tasks ... Oh Rascal Children Of Gaza And Inside Out The authors of the poems Oh Rascal Children of Gaza and Inside Out dissimilarly utilize flashback in order to demonstrate the theme of appreciating what one may have before it s gone. The poem Oh Rascal Children of Gaza, written by Khaled Juma, depicts a flashback of when a certain group of children were present, expressed through the memories of the narrator. In the beginning of the poem, the narrator has a distinct negative connotation of the children. The poem opens with the line Oh rascal children of Gaza, and proceeds to list all the commotion they caused; You who constantly disturbed me with your screams under my window/You who filled every morning with rush and chaos/You who broke my vase and stole the lonely flower on my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator of the poem bounces back and forth between what the people of Gaza were experiencing and what the spectators in Brazil were experiencing. The first change of scenery is seen in lines 1 4 of the poem, People inside out/on the streets in their loved ones /arms people screaming/in football stadiums (Beck). The people of Gaza are holding each other because they are scared of the attack, while the spectators of the World Cup are shouting with passion for their team to make a pass, or score a goal. Throughout the next few lines of the poem the bombings in Gaza are illustrated, there s an old woman/who dies holding/her spoon waiting/ for iftar/which comes but so do/the rockets (Beck 10 16). In the latter of the poem, a very significant and moving shift between the two settings is shown, a player kisses a trophy/his wife his son/a mother/kisses a dead child/grief inside out (Beck 50 54). The contrast between the settings themselves is what really emphasizes the poem s theme of appreciating what one may have, as the player is kissing his wife, son, and trophy, out of joy, but the mother is kissing her child who has been killed, out of grief. The people viewing the World Cup were oblivious to the occurrences in Gaza, which is what Zeina Hashem Beck was getting across to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anything they do can risk their job and any tiny mistake ruining the rest of their lives in this oppressed environment. So yes, out of fear workers do not tend to fight back but this out of necessity to protect their families from losing what in most cases is their only source of income. Though American workers are treated better, they still have to contend with being replaced by machines and worry about companies taking their jobs away. Zeitoun Rhetorical Essay Cortnie Schierman Fijacko English 111 5 October 2012 Rough Draft: Rhetorical Analysis Essay David Eggers, in Zeitoun, shows a story of a Muslim American family living through many challenges. After 9/11 Muslim families, like the Zeitouns, face many problems living in America. Eggers wants to inform other Americans on the situation of Muslim living in the United States, present day. People who are uneducated about the Muslim religion need to be informed on how similar lives are of other people all around the United States. These people throw out stereotypes and aim judgments wrongly at the Zeitoun family. Unjust treatment of the Zeitoun family is a cause of assuming and stereotypes. In this biography, Eggers helps inform his readers about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many examples of pathos in Zeitoun because Eggers uses a lot of charged language, stories, and objects that create an emotion in the readers. There is less of the logical appeal, logos, in Zeitoun but Eggers does present it. Using cause and effect, comparisons, and statistics, Eggers supports his argument through this logical appeal. An example of cause and effect would be the 9/11 example. Since this tragedy happen, many more stereotypes were brought upon Muslims, especially those living in America. After 9/11, Zeitoun found it more difficult to live in New Orleans. The cause was 9/11 and the effect was how the Muslim Americans were treated after the happening. Eggers also makes comparisons between the Muslim religion and the Christian view. These facts appeal to the reader s intelligence and could also build upon their education of each religion. When Kathy is converting, Eggers states the similarities of each religion; At first she was simply intrigued by the basic things she didn t know, and the many things she d wrongly presumed. She had no idea, for instance, that the Qur an was filled with the same people as the Bible (Eggers, 61). Eggers goes on to compare Christianity to the Muslim faith, and points out that there are many different types of Muslims just like there are many types of Christians. Along with comparisons, the book has many statistics referencing to the hurricane. An example would be, by date, the death toll when Kathy is waiting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
