Khafre Enthroned
Throughout the many historical periods of history, there always had been pieces of artwork that
depicted the rulers of the time. Khafre Enthroned(Fig 1) and Justinian as world conqueror(Fig 2)
are two examples of how they were represented during their time as leaders. Even though they are
from two different time periods, the former being Egyptian and the latter Byzantine, they are both
successful at displaying how artists and the people at their time period respectfully portrayed their
rulers.
Several stylistic characteristics of the Egyptian time period can be found on Khafre Enthroned. The
Egyptian statue Khafre Enthroned, or the seated statue of Khafre, is the artwork depicting one of
Egypt s earliest rulers. The medium used for the statue is diorite, a stone dark in shade and
immensely solid which originated from the Nile. The height ... Show more content on

The sculpture was made in Dynasty 4, c. 2575 2525 BCE, Egypt, Fourth Dynasty and located in the
second great pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre. The statue has many symbolisms, including
the two stylized lions that form the throne. The lion was considered a royal symbol and a
connection with the sun. The combination of the animal and the head of the pharaoh was an icon
that was frequently used for a long period of time in the Egyptian history. (khanacademy) The
lotus and papyrus plants between the pharaoh s legs are the symbols of both Upper and Lower
Egypt united, as for the God Horus at his head presents his divine status as ruler. His godly status
was also sculpted in the shape of Khafre s body. As a divine ruler, Khafre is portrayed with a
built body and flawless face, an added trait regardless of his true age and appearance. In Egyptian
standards, idealistic proportions were considered suitable for Pharaohs as they were presented to
be god like. Because of this principle, the statue is not realistic in terms of Khafre s actual
features.(Kleiner

The Jew of Venice

Venice and Belmont (Italy) in the sixteenth century. It was written in London in 1998. The full

Venice. Venice is a place where there is lots of commerce and where there are lots of business
men who loan and ask for interest. The people who live here are not very kind, they are hard

The presentation of Mr. Lockwood in Wuthering Heights
=======================================================
The novel, Wuthering Heights , begins in the year 1801, where we as readers are firstly introduced
to the character Mr. Lockwood. Mr.
Lockwood narrates the entire novel throughout, almost like an entry in his diary.
Lockwood, a young London gentleman, is a newcomer to the Yorkshire
Moors, Wuthering Heights. The novel opens after he has just returned from a visit with his landlord
and neighbour, Mr. Heathcliffabout
Thrushcross Grange.

After reading this first page, I was intrigued by Mr. Lockwood s character. He missed all the
obvious signs that Heathcliff did not want to invite him into his home, that he was not comfortable
speaking to him or that he had an unfriendly nature. Lockwood, who comes from a more
domesticated region of England finds himself in a less sociable area. My impression is that
Lockwood is interested about the people and about the setting, he wishes to learn more about them
by how he shows curiosity.
I felt interested in a man who seemed more exaggeratedly reserved than myself.
Once Lockwood has been granted permission, grudgingly by Heathcliff, he enters his house. He
encounters an incident with some of
Heathcliff s dogs, although Heathcliff did warn him about them, to which he pulls faces provoking
them to attack him, to which neither
Heathcliff or the servant Joseph seems to bother about. Fortunately for Lockwood, a female servant
comes and shoos the dogs away.
Although Lockwood is not injured, he appears to sulk in a childish manner, resulting in Healthcliff
making up for this incident when he sees how angry Lockwood is. Wine is offered, and a
conversation is brought about. Lockwood s foolish character analysis and bad judgement of
Heathcliff prompts him to think of returning to
Thrushcross Grange the next day,
I was encourages so far as to volunteer another visit tomorrow.

Cirrhotic Essay
Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a
specific indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in
cirrhotic patients. The dosage of most PPIs should be reduced in cirrhotic as they are metabolized
by the liver and associated with adverse effects of prolonged use. We aimed to review strict
indications and adverse effects for their use in this group of patients. Keywords Proton pump
inhibitors, liver cirrhosis, peptic ulcer, H. pylori, esophageal band ligation. Abbreviations P.P.I:

A short course for 10 days post EVL may be reasonable if we concern for ulcer healing. However,
high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic
procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit
becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low
amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices
[9]. These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients
without EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main
pattern whereas the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this
might contribute to bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are
few, however, the indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with
cirrhosis of the liver as general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the
pathology secondary to gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection
Prevalence of duodenal and gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease
progress[11] and this prevalence becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated
cirrhosis [12]. Currently, PPIs are the mainstay treatment option of peptic ulcers in the

Using the collected data, the rate of water loss from the sand needs to be calculated using the
psychrometric chart and the change in weight of the sand mixture over time. To illustrate the
process of calculating the water loss, the equilibrium data from Trial 1 will be used.
T_(wb,out)=24.5вЃ°C T_(db,out)=50.5вЃ°C T_(wb,in)=23.5вЃ°C T_(db,in)=50.5вЃ°C With the
wet and dry bulb temperatures, the psychrometric chart was used to find the moisture contents
and humid volumes for the air at the inlet and outlet of the tray dryer. The values found using the
psychrometric chart are provided below. H_out=0.93 m^3/(kg dry air ) H_in=0.93 m^3/(kg dry air )

I pulled out this journal that she gave me at our very first hour long session.

stated, The title of this one is: Love is an Undeserving Lesson.
It was as if the room was spinning as I began to read to her from my secret book of poetry.
When I finished, I looked up and waited for a response, but all she did was shed a few tears,
reached out, and hugged me.
I really didn t comprehend what was going on, but this weird feeling took over me and so I began

She was the only other person I was able to completely confide in since April of 1995.
This lady, a stranger, had now become my best friend and throughout the years I discovered my

Poetry allowed me to love without getting rejected or hurt on many occasions time after time.

John Was Preaching Against Rome
John was preaching against Rome in Revelation
In the late first century a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, John of Patmos, received a vision of the
end the world. John later wrote this vision down and his writing has come down to modernity as
The Book of Revelation also known as The Apocalypse of John. When John wrote Revelation
was he using it as a coded message to preach against Rome? In this vision, John saw many
images that could be read as Rome or Roman if viewed from a historical context. Subsequent
generations have interpreted the imagery within their own historical context. With this paper I
will argue that Revelation pertains to the Roman world and culture that John and his followers
were living in, the events in Judea that are thought to have occurred within his life time and that
John used some of the same imagery to connect his writing to the Hebrew Bible. There are two
main competing dates for the writing of Revelation, an early date of 69 70 and a later date of 90
92. This paper will be using the 69 70 date and will be providing evidence to prove why this date
works better for the context of this paper. First this paper will establish the time frame in which
John wrote Revelation. George H. van Kooten s article, The Year of the Four Emperors and the
Revelation of John: The pro Neronian Emperors Otho and Vitellius, and the Images and Colossus
of Nero in Rome, from Journal for the Study of the New Testament points, In the midst of this war

Blitzkrieg Essay
Blitzkrieg
The word Blitz itself is a shortened form of the German word Blitzkrieg meaning lightening war,
it means a heavy bombing attack from the air. It is often used to describe the German air raids
on London in 1940, but many other cities were also blitzed. It was widely believed that Britain
would be heavily bombed immediately after the war was declared and huge amounts of deaths and
injuries were expected with mass burials planned and 1,250,000 cardboard coffins were produced.
However these figures were completely inaccurate as they were based on when the Luftwaffe had
bombed during the Spanish Civil War, and during this time had virtually no opposition. During The

He believed that this would dampen spirits and break morale to such an extent that the people
would force the government to come to terms with him. However the excuse Hitler used to
justify the Blitz was that he was bombing military targets. The Blitz also attempted to destroy
industry, with London docks being bombed often and the Luftwaffe also tried to hit railway
lines, junctions, power stations and gas holders, but the bombing was felt worst of all by the
working class near city centres. The Blitz also affected the life of children with many of them
being uprooted and evacuated to the countryside, some with their mothers, some without. Around
1,500,000 people were evacuated at the start of the Blitz, which had a massive effect on people s
lives and many lifestyles being completely turned around. Children from the city were often very
skinny and undernourished and when they were evacuated often had much more food, and much
healthier food to keep them strong. Some would go home looking completely different to how
they looked when they went. Those that stayed in the cities were bothered by ARP wardens
checking for air raid precautions, the wardens were often accused of interfering. Along with
household precautions there were also air raid shelters, but many people didn t have them and went
into tube stations during raids. The raids affected everybody s lives, as at

Analyse the factors that contributed to the emergence of a workers opposition movement in
Communist Poland in the period 1956 1981.
After World War II, the official communist party dominated all aspects of Polish politics, which
soon became an issue with not only the working class of the country, but also the intellectual and
educated Polish community. Between 1956 and 1981, there was an emergence of workers
opposition against the communist party in Poland due to the blatant oppression and desperate
living conditions of many of the Polish workers and their families. Workers demanded rapid change

(Doc 4) The intellectual and party member support helped the workers movement gain serious
momentum. A major factor in the emergence of the workers opposition movement also was the
support of the Catholic Church and the Pope specifically. In September of 1976, the bishops of
the Catholic Church in Poland called for the government and party to fully respect civil rights and
conduct a real dialogue with society while also demanding that they stop all repression of workers
involved in the protests of June 1976. (Doc 5) The fierce and somewhat scolding tone in which the
demands are made show the Catholic Church s unwavering support for the Polish workers
opposition. It is not surprising, however, that a group of Catholic bishops would demand better
treatment for the Polish workers because, as members of the church, they would naturally be in
favour of social justice. The value of having the Catholic Church support the movement manifests
itself in the fact that the Polish communist party begins to require all teachers to tell students that
the pope is an enemy and dangerous man who only wishes to charm the crowd. (Doc 7) This
response to the pope s support demonstrates that the party itself realised that the church could have
tremendous impact on the turnout of the opposition. By the 1980s, a coalition of independent trade
unions, known as Solidarity, was established in Gdansk. The photograph of Lech Walesa and other

The trading of goods such as foods, resources, supplies and etc. spread influence throughout
civilizations. A great deal of Chinese technology and artistic conventions such as painting, printing,
gunpowder weapons, compass navigation, high temperature furnaces, and medical techniques
flowed westward. Muslim astronomers brought their skills and knowledge to China because
Mongol authorities wanted second opinions on the reading of heavenly signs and portents and

the profligate items, the Mongols desired to advance their knowledge in the areas of medication,

Letter To Chronicle Books
Dear Chronicle Books; Submissions Editor,
The law of attraction is a growing trend. Though many people read the books tailored towards
this law they fail to attract into their life what they desire. They have the knowledge to use this
law yet they don t practice it. Knowledge isn t a capacity of knowing but rather a capacity of

finally manifest their goals. The main principles in this book are based on the similarities I noticed
in books including The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra and The Secret by
Rhonda Bryne, psychological studies I examined while I was in University, and various
documentaries including The Secret on Netflix. These sources have a very powerful and effective
message to empower people to transform their lives yet millions of people don t follow through.

The Theory Of The General Will
Rousseau is theorizing from the concept of the general will, which promotes individuals to
become conscious citizens who actively participate as a community to form policies for a
governing structure. The general will advocates for a commitment to generality, a common
interest that will unite all citizens for the benefit of all. Rousseau states, each one of us puts into
the community his person and all his powers under the supreme direction of the general will;
and as a body, we incorporate every member as an indivisible part of the whole (Rousseau 61). The
general will is an expression of the law that is superior to an individual s desires because it is shared

Emerson is theorizing from his experience of citizenship and is therefore unable to recognize the
marginalization of black people across America, regardless if they are free or are enslaved. In
his speech against the Fugitive Salve Law, Emerson argues that, there are really two nations, the
North and the South. It is not slavery that severs them, it is climate and temperament (Emerson).
Emerson s judgment derives from the notion that he was not participating in the practice of
slavery due to his geographic location. As a member of the collectively anti slavery north,
Emerson argued that he was nit politically implicated to act against the legality of slavery
because it did not affect him personally in the north. Emerson s indifference to the politics of the
south reveals a kind of privilege that is inherent to white citizens, but not black citizens or
enslaved people. Emerson s privilege allows him to engage as a good democratic citizen only when
he provokes to act by personal affects.
Conversely, Douglass theorizes from the position of a free black man, a citizen who is politically
implicated by every law, despite his geographic location. For Douglass, politics implicate every
part of a citizen s life and therefore political contradictions, such as slavery, are fundamental to the
character of every good democratic citizen. He does not possess the

Separation Between Boys And Girls
The first thing a person notices upon walking into a store is all the different categories separated
by different aisles and giant signs hanging from the ceiling. The categories are then separated into
smaller, more specific sections. Like in the bathroom accessory aisles, there are different sections
in it that include the towels, curtains, and soap dispensers. Kid s clothes and toys are no different,
they are both separated into two different major categories which are boys and girls. This
separation between boys and girls does carry on throughout a person s life, and influences many
genderroles and biases. In the girls clothingsection, there many different items of clothing such as
sweaters, vests, dresses, leggings, jeans, sparkly plaid, and tunics. The patterns on these
different clothing items consists of sparkles, hearts, flowers, lace, fake fur, and animals. Most of
the clothing for girls consists of bright colors like, pinks, purple, aqua marine, gold, and silver.
Fabric that was mainly used for girls was cotton, polyester, spandex, and metallic. So, knowing
what kinds of clothes are available for girls to wear, it raises the question what do clothes teach
girls and being a girl? Since the clothing for girls is less practical use¬, and seems to be frillier
and light, this teaches them that they are supposed to be aware of their appearances at a young
age. When the clothing has Disney princesses on them it provides the child with and image of

Motivating people is not an easy task especially when it comes to routine work, yet leaders are
up for the challenge and possess a certain enthusiastic charisma that exudes onto everyone.
Leaders have a greater tendency to see people as assets, thus putting more value on them and
treating them as the crucial components that they are to the organization. This type of
organization can be referred to as a high performance organization (HPO), an organization that
views and treats people as the assets that they are. These types of organizations are more
successful and grow as an organization, for they put value into their most important resource,
people. Viewing people as assets is essential to an organization s degree of success. This sort of
behavior exudes onto the employees and they feel more valuable, which improves overall morale
and in turn helps productivity. In short, managers have subordinates, while leaders have followers,
(Jacobs, 62). Power, authority, and formal decision making are all correlated with management.
Managers are much more focused on production and meeting the bottom line, yet leaders are more
concerned with the people in the organization and the overall moral. End of the quarter deadlines,

ranging from D4 to F#6, arranged in the circle of fifths. Provost style of tenor (made by Kyle

Ranges can be expanded for other instruments in the steel pan family such as the double second

the family of pans. Typically, second pans offer about a two and a half octave range, bolstering

Review Of The Defense Of Globalisation
BOOK REVIEW : IN DEFENSE OF GLOBALISATION
INTRODUCTION:
The subject of globalization can trigger a wide range of responses when brought up in a discussion.
To its supporters, globalization represents advancement, monetary development, and promotes a
better future. To its critics, it connotes greed, exploitation, and corruption. These assorted qualities
of perspectives is maybe due to the way that globalization is naturally intricate and includes
distinctive financial and social subtleties at different national and worldwide levels. Understanding
globalization, in this manner, obliges one to perceive how these variables interrelate and impact
each other. One text that makes a successful job of investigating these complex connections is
Jagdish Bhagwati s In Defense of Globalization.
Bhagwati, a Columbia University economics professor and author of numerous books on trade,
makes all the right economic arguments, however without the flurry of factual connections
frequently used to put forth the defense. Rather, he recounts the narrative of how globalization has
conveyed a superior way of life in less developed nations, and how experiments with different
avenues regarding protectionist import substitution policies have deliberately failed. However
unlike numerous other texts on this subject, Bhagwati s presentation does not address the issue
from a principally emotional point of view. Also, he doesn t present his points right and those of
his adversaries as

Application For The Cloud Service Provider
Applications in today s world consume resources on a wide variety of scale, one application
could be CPU based while another could be network based which mean each application would
saturate a few resources and under utilize a few. With cloud computing, Pay as you go enables
you to pay only for the utilized. For example, an application consumes only 50% of the
processing power; you need not pay for the entire set of machines and would only pay for the
utilized rate and cloud providers offer competitive prices today. To add to it operating costs like
building space, power, cooling, maintenance of servers and network will be on the cloud service
provider. The installation, upgrades and patches are easily done as cloud provider usually relies
on virtual machines instead of physical equipment. According to a study, in the year of 2000,
45% of IT budget was spent on capital expenditure whereas only 6% of the resulting server
capacity was utilized1. In this scenario, in the next couple of years the cost of server maintenance
would exceed the capital expenditure invested with very less utilization ratio. Datacenters of large
scales can reduce the economies and time of computing to a large extent and also contribute to the
Green IT initiative saving the environment. Cloud also offers potential benefits like scalability
where adding additional resources can be done in matter of hours and also eliminates the need for
huge capital expenditure which enables startups access to large

Essay about Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness
Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness
The novella Heart of Darkness illustrates readers with three different types of depictions that men
had of women during the late 1800 s; also known as the imperialistic era. These depictions were as
follows; the naive woman, the mistress, and the wealthy widow. The naГЇve woman was
personified by Kurtz intended. The mistress was personified by the native African woman. The
wealthy widow is personified by Marlow s aunt. This assumption can be made on various levels.
The most obvious level is how Joseph Conrad never gave these characters names. Also when they
are mentioned it is very brief.
Kurtz s intended is the naГЇve character. She is alone and waiting for Kurtz for as long ... Show

The small part that she has in this novella she manages to sound like a naГЇve woman.
The second character that we are introduced to is Kurtz s African mistress. The mistress is a
beautiful woman who seems to evoke some sort of control over the men. Whenever she is
mentioned the men just stand there as if in awe. She never speaks in the novella. During the late
1800 s it was acceptable for men to have mistress , I believe that is what Conrad tried to show.
That s why Kurtz s intended never questioned why he was taking so long. She probably knew he
had a mistress and couldn t really say anything against it. The mistress managed to gain some type
of control over Kurtz, and that is why he hadn t left yet. Even Marlow was in awe when he saw
the beautiful native woman with jewelry on. Perhaps she was a wealthy woman, and that s why the
people respected her.
The last female character that I will examine is Marlow s aunt. She is perhaps a wealthy widow,
who also has nothing better to do with her money. She believes strongly on the topic of
imperialism. She thinks that it helps people progress. She was the one who got Marlow this
opportunity. Marlow s aunt is the combination of both characters. She was naГЇve and controlling
at the same time. Conrad probably used this character to show readers how older women were in
the past.
Its amazing to see how men stereotyped women in the past it hasn t

Christianity, Christianity And The Teachings Of Christianity
Christianity has specific teachings within its religion that all christians practice. Christians believe
in the Trinity which is the Father, Son, and the Holy spirit. God is the father, son is Jesus, and the
holy spirit is a spirit. Another teaching of Christianity is that christian life is marked by baptism.
Baptism is when christians are submerged in water or water is sprinkled over their head and it
symbolizes purification. They practice this teaching because they believe that it is a way of
recognizing that Jesusdied for their sins, was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead. Christians
also teach that the Bible is the word of God and they believe in the Bible and what the Bible says.
Islamteaches The Five Pillars of Islam. The Five Pillars of Islam are Faith, Prayer, Charity,
Fasting, and Pilgrimage. Faith is the belief of one god, Prayer is praying five times a day,
Charity is giving or donating to those in need, Fasting is only eating after sunset to sunrise for a
whole month, and Pilgrimage is the journey to Mecca. The Five Pillars of Islam are practiced by
every Muslim. Another teaching within Islam is that they all believe in one god who is named
Allah. The last teaching is that Muhammad who was the last prophet of their god Allah is the
messiah, which means Muhammad is their messenger of god.
Monotheism is believing in only one god. Both Christianity and Islam are Monotheistic religions
and believe in the same god. They are also similar because

The Movie Departures From The Historical Record
Davis claims that her work is more historical than the movie because the film maker s departures
from the historical record. (Benson 57). That is, Vigne s work lacks from historical understanding
because he divires from the right direction due to several reasons including but not restricted to
ignoring the Basque region, neglecting religious issues, and disregarding complicity of Bertrande

importantly, the trial would have been confidential not open to public. In addition, the movie

Basically, the film is there to make money, so the producers have to make it accessible to as
many people as possible. Undoubtedly, the film producers make their finishing touch in order to
make it appeal to the audiences. They added some changes, such as using wrong color robes for
the judges of the Parlement of Toulouse as well as omitting vital information, which affects the
original story by intention or chance in make it an artistic touch rather than historical touch. It
seems to me that Davis s book is more historical than the movie because she provides a detailed
description of the life of rural families during that time, and the journey of Martin s family from
the Basque region to the Artigat because of political and economic reasons. She goes more and
demonstrates the social circumstances of the French peasantry in the sixteenth century. At any rate,
Davis s account of both the trial and village life in Artigat is more historically accurate than the
movie. Davis brings the story to life as a historical achievement. That is why Davis writes her book
specifically to address the shortage in the film and to follow the historical evidence closely. It is
unquestionable that historians tend to be skeptical about their sources; it is the nature of any
historical work, when they address basic facts that happened in the past. Obviously enough, in the

Valence Electrons and Gilbert Newton Lewis
Lewis Dot Structures Throughout the 20th century, Gilbert Newton Lewis, found a way on how to
have a more visual way to look at valence electrons for elements. This method of thinking helped
the perspective of looking at valence electrons and how those valence electrons bond with other
chemicals or substances. That method is called the Lewis dot structure. When Gilbert Newton
Lewis was learning how to draw the Lewis dot structures, he actually found useful information on
what element people were working with. In Lewis dot structures; there are important bits of
information like electronlocation on where the electrons are the number or types of bonds, and
perhaps the shape of the atom.
In element bonding or the elements electron placement, it is very important to take note of. This
concept is important because when figuring out the location of the electrons, you can find out what
needs to bond or exchange with other elements that it wants to. Also when finding out the electron
placement of the element, this can show the properties of the element. This part of the atom that is
capable of doing this is the valence orbital or valence shell. Another piece of important parts of a
Lewis dot structure is the shape or geometric shape of the atom. In order to discuss and predict
chemical properties, you have to understand at least the shape or figure of the atom. When you
understand this concept, you can maybe learn about the element or the atom s mass,
electronegativity,

Laughter Improves Health Essay example
Laughter is an essential human phenomenon. Smiling in response to pleasant physical conditions
occurs in early development, usually in the first month of life. As a motor reflex, laughter is
usually present by the time a child is 4 months old. By the age of eighteen months, a child smiles
once every six minutes, and by four years of age, the rate increasesto one smileevery one and one
third minutes. The ratio of laughs to smiles increases from one laugh to every ten smiles as
eighteen monthsto one every three smile at four years. The individual differences in the rate of both
laughing and smiling become greater as the children grow older. (Stearns, 1972) The instinctual
development of smiling and laughing occurs very... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The causes of laughter can be divided into three main groups. One manifestation is laughter as a
reflex, such as due to ticking. Another is as a psychosomatic response prompted by a specific
stimulus. This is an informative stimulus such as a word, sentence, gesture, action, recollection,
situation, etc. This requires the involvement of perception, learning, and memory. This reaction
may or may not be terminated voluntarily. The third is again a psychosomatic response, but is
differentiated because it is not caused by an adequate informative stimulus and can be terminated
voluntarily.
Within this categorization, there are different types of laughter: mirthful laughter, pathological
laughter, etc. Mirthful laughter, a lesser studied, but highly interesting type will be the focus of this
discussion. A commonly held belief is that mirthful laughter and humor result in positive physical,
psychological, and social fitness. With such a expansive area of influence, it is difficult to
understand how such laughter influences the body.
Laughter in healing
Studies of the physiology of mirthful laughter, scientifically known as gelotology, are a fairly recent
phenomenon. Descriptions of convalescence through positive emotional states have renewed
interest in the healing potential of mirthful laughter. Norman Cousins accounts of the therapeutic
effects of laughter during his treatment and recovery from ankylosing spondylitis

Summary Of Danny Wants A Cup Of Water By John Steinbeck
Steinbeck uses imagery and structure to champion his theme that it is peoples intrinsic character
that will ultimately push them to survive even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. The
passage opens with Steinbeck describing the cars along route 66 as fraught and unable to go on.
He personifies them by stating that they are panting and struggling . He also uses a metaphor to
compare them with rattling bodies , as if they are the migrant workers themselves. This
characterization of the cars is meant to show an analogy between the migrants and the cars since
both are on the brink of breaking down at any moment. However, the cars still pushing on down the
road also compare to the migrants, but only the ones who have kept fighting.... Show more content

He is able to use the short, yet very powerful story of twelve people in order to strengthen his
psychological argument about how people are able to retain their trust and compassion even in
such devastating times. This is exemplified through the repetition of Danny wants a cup of water
. The first time it is said, Steinbeck uses a simile to describe how the concrete road shone like a
mirror since it is so hot that it creates a rippling effect like a wave in the distance, almost as if the
road is taunting Danny by containing pools of water when he cannot even have a drop. Because
no one has yet acknowledged the thirsty boy, Danny wants a cup of water is repeated. Now,
someone prompts a response with a sympathetic tone through the words, poor little fella.
Furthermore, the person then demonstrates his persistence in getting the boy some water by
saying he will stop at the next service station . Steinbeck has just explained how a majority of
the cars are likely to break down at any moment; therefore, the simple fact that the family still
decides to drive knowing that they might not make it shows how hopeful they really are.
Moreover, with this worry constantly nagging at their minds, they are still able to focus on
satisfying the boy s thirst. Steinbeck then transitions into a family that does not have a car, yet the
same principle of hope and trust applies to them. They come together as a family and prepare for
whatever hardships may come. Though, a man facing the same amount of struggle is able to pick
them up, feed them, and take them to California. Now, Steinbeck uses this example to formulate
his argument. Neither party expects to meet each other, but both are able to help each other. The
family of twelve is able to keep the

Consumer Society and Choice
A consumer society is a post industrial term used to describe the fact that society is characterised
more by what people consume and less by the jobs they do or goods they produce (Hetherington,
2009). As our relationship with consumerism has changed so too have the choices available of
why, when, where and how we consume. The first part of this assignment will look at the
characteristics of a consumersociety, the choices available and identify the divisions created from
unequal choices. The second part will consider the role of the Big four supermarkets (TESCO,
Asda, Sainsbury and Morrison s) in providing choiceto people.

Larger stores also offer people the convenience of additional services along with their shopping,
for example post office, pharmacy and opticians. By addressing consumer s expectations and using
their buyer power they can offer a choice of products to reflect consumer s diverse budgetary,
dietary, ethical and environmental requirements. Furthermore their global buyer power enables
consumers to benefit from choosing exotic produce all year round. With 30,000,000 customers
(Bevan cited in Allen, 2009) choosing to use the big four supermarkets on a weekly basis it would
suggest that they provide a format that consumers want.
Supermarkets also claim that their economic leverage enables them to benefit local communities
by building stores and providing social and economic regeneration packages. One such example is
Linwood, on the outskirts of Glasgow (Allen, 2009). The closure of a main employer left the centre
of Linwood economically scarred. A proposal to build a new Tesco supermarket in the area and
attract other special retailers to the ailing Town Centre was met with enthusiasm by local residents.
Supporters of supermarkets advocate that everyone within the supply chain (customers,
communities and suppliers) benefit from supermarkets, a concept Dennis Wrong terms the positive
sum game (Allen, 2009).
Anti supermarket campaigners have a counterclaim that the big four abuse their dominant position
in the marketplace and restrict

Ado About Nothing
Misunderstanding and deception in Much Ado About Nothing are key themes in the play. In
Elizabethan times the word Nothing was pronounced Noting and so the title would have given the
audience the initial clue that in this play the importance of noting, spying, appearance and
eavesdropping will cause trouble throughout. It is important to define the difference between
misunderstanding and deception. Instances of misunderstanding are very often simple mistakes.
Misunderstanding means having an erroneous interpretation of the truth. Deception is to

Hero says that Beatrice is too disdainful and self endeared . She further attacks Beatrice by
saying that Distain and scorn ride sparkling in her eyes. Misprising what they look on and her

Beatrice into feeling sorry for Benedick. I think that there is resentment behind them; Hero thinks
that Beatrice values herself too highly and is releasing herself from Beatrice s over bearing
influence. I also believe that what the audience witness is an exchange of roles in this deception.
Hero is starting to exercise her opinion while Beatrice hides in the orchard somewhat speechless.
Beatrice s deception is conveyed in blank verse as opposed to Benedick s longer gulling, in prose.

tells the car to shut down all fuel related lines, it automatically calls 911 and the hazard lights

Government Power In The United States
When it comes to the topic of government power most of us can agree that having a government is
a good idea. Where this argument usually ends, however, is on the question of the way government

the way they are. Others maintain he idea that the federal level of government has too much power
in their hands. I believe that the means of delegation are just fine as they are. Although it is
necessary that the federal government back the state government, I think that the state government
should be the ultimate decision maker in their state. Many people believe that the federal level of
government should control what goes on everywhere in the country, which isn t a bad idea. They
believe that they should be the ultimate decision maker because they know what s best for the
country as a whole. Which is smart, but this country is too big for the federal government to know

In here we have redundant connectivity to the access layer. That means Cisco SGE2010P 48 Port
Gigabit Switches in access layer can work without any downtimes. Also we can create VLANS as
required in here to increase the bandwidth. I think this is a good solution for here because these
cameras create HD media and it requires high bandwidth to transfer data. So we can eliminate this
problem by implementing VLANs here. By implementing VLANs, It creates collision domains in
the network. Another thing about this switch is, it has 4 fiber optic ports rather than the 48 Gigabit
Ethernet ports. By these 04 ports we can create hi speed uplinks. Also this has 48 ports. That means
rack space also can save. References http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/solutions/Enterprise/Video

Strategies Of A 2-Level Model
We used multilevel modeling (MLM; Hox, 2002; Raudenbush Byrk, 2002) to evaluate the efficacy
of feedback. MLM was used due to the nested data structure (i.e., clients nested within therapists).
Given this, the assumption of independent observations is not met which can result in increase of
Type I error rates; therefore, traditional analytical strategies such as analysis of varianceare not
appropriate. Specifically, MLM permits us to control for the variance effects from therapists to
evaluate the effects of client feedback at the client level. We also will be able to see if the rates of
change for each treatment condition were different.
Using an ANCOVA like strategy, we constructed a 2 level model (client within therapist)... Show

Effects of Client Feedback on Outcome All Clients Descriptive statistics are shown in Table 1. The
results from the covariate only model (Equation 1) are shown in Table 2. This baseline model
estimated covariance parameters to compute an intraclass coefficient (ICC) to determine the
amount of variability at the therapist level. The ICC showed that less than 1% of the variance
(.02) was accounted for by therapist outcome differences, which is smaller than other PCOMS
studies that evaluated therapist effects (Anker et al., 2009; Reese et al., 2011). The covariate only
model indicates a significant positive slope (пЃ§10 = .26, p .001) between initial ORS scores and
post ORS scores across clients. This indicated that ORS scores significantly improved for all
clients from pre to post treatment, with the average post ORS for clients equal to 29.31 (пЃ§00).
The standardized mean effect size from pre to post ORS was 1.38.
The ANCOVA model included the treatment condition (FEEDBACK) as a predictor to the first
model as shown in Equation 2. We refer to this as an ANCOVA model given that we are evaluating
the differences in slopes for each treatment condition while controlling for initial ORS scores.

Cat In The Hat Movie And Book Comparison Essay
Throughout my years as a scholar I never quite enjoyed the process of summer work, especially
the summer reading aspect of it. There are multiple reasons on why I perhaps dread the work.
For one, I like to enjoy my summer without thoughts of school (though this was nearly
impossible being a rising senior), and I go through the process of forgetting school, by ignoring
my summer work up till the night before the first day of classes. However, this year I made an
active decision to start my summer reading early, and I m glad I did so. As I was scrolling through
falconview in its last functional days I was pleasantly surprised to find the book MoneyBall as one
of the options. Being an avid Baseballfan, having seen the movie adaptation, and the... Show more

MoneyBall, explored the Oakland A s franchise under the management of Billy Beane, an ex
baseball prospect. This book displayed to the reader the misgrievances many pro scouts make
when recruiting players, including; the exclusion of certain players when building teams, the
wrong analysis of stats, and the use of conventional wisdom. This book explains how a poor
baseball team went from a winning percentage under .500 to almost beating the richest team in
baseball. The book is most accurately depicted by what the back of the cover articulates,
MoneyBall is The most influential book on sports ever written . To begin, when I first opened
the novel I had already had high expectations for the book as I and many others had already
enjoyed the movie adaptation of the novel (though the book came out first), so it s no surprise
that I immensely enjoyed the book. However, one thing I didn t know going into the reading is
how much I would learn and question from having read it. Having a rich baseball background
from having played the sport since I was four years old I thought I

Algonquian Middle Ground Analysis
North American history is often perceived from the European mindset of superiority over the
indigenous groups that were there eons prior. However, the underlying reality is much more
complex than what is commonly accepted. Deep seeded relationships between the Native
Americans and Europeans, both animus and amiable, created intricate societal structures in which
natives were able to exercise historical agency over the European immigrants seeking to gain
wealth. Historical agency can simply be explained as the control over the social and cultural
development of one group of people relative to another. Following the arrival of European powers
in the 17th century, indigenous peoplesexercised historical agency through controlling trade

Returning to the idea of native agency, the Iroquois, in response to unfavorable treatment, could
simply cease trade. The Europeans were spending large sums of money to sail across foreign
waters to engage with people who dominated the lands stimulating European economies. A Mi
kmaq raised a critical question, for if France, as thou sayest, is a little terrestrial paradise, art thou
sensible to leave it Why risk thy life and thy property every year, and why venture thyself with
such risk... to the storms and tempests of the sea in order to come to a strange and barbarous
country which though considerest the poorest and least fortunate of the world? The European
powers needed to tread lightly and respectfully, despite their biases of the indigenous people, in
order to ensure that their flow of money not be hindered. Understanding the simplicity of the
situation, the Iroquois formed an alliance with a European power attempting to grow, the Dutch. In
1609, Henry Hudson arrived from the Netherlands and established the West India Company in the
Hudson River Valley area. The Dutch were known to make the best firearms at the time and
engaged in trade with the Iroquois. The Iroquois gladly accepted trade offers of guns for furs,

The Nature of Discipleship According to Mark s Gospel...
The Nature of Discipleship According to Mark s Gospel
Discipleship is usually thought of as following Jesus, being a preacher and a teacher. Somebody
who believes in something, or who believes in someone, and leaves everything behind them to
try to make others believe the same is my personal belief of a disciple. In actual fact, the Old
Testament word Talmid is a learner , and more obviously in the New Testament, a Diskipolos is a
follower . The other important area of discipleship is serving others. When a disciple is healing a
person, they are serving them, as he serving Jesus and God. So discipleship can be summed up; to
follow, to learn, to preach, to believe, to serve. All factors are... Show more content on

And yes, the disciples did heal, they did preach and they did cast out evil. The apostles returned
and met with Jesus, and told him all they had done and taught (Mark 6:30) and They went out
and preached that people should turn away from their sins. They drove out many demons, and
rubbed olive oil on many sick people and healed them (Mark 6:12 13). Both of these quotes show
us that the disciples followed instructions and did them well. However, their understanding of
Jesus and his teachings wasn t very good. They understood neither the amazing powers Jesus
possessed nor the wonders he could perform. Even though he would explain everything to them ,
in situations such as The Calming of the Storm and when Jesus walked on water, they just didn t
have the strength to believe or the depth to understand. When the boat was filling with water in
the Calming of the Storm (Mark 4:35 41), the disciples awoke Jesus to say, Teacher, don t you care
that we are about to die? , Jesus said back to his disciples Why are you frightened? Have you still
no faith? The story in Chapter 6, verses forty nine to fifty is similar. It s a ghost! , the disciples
screamed when they saw Jesus walking on water. They were all terrified when they saw

  • 2. Khafre Enthroned Throughout the many historical periods of history, there always had been pieces of artwork that depicted the rulers of the time. Khafre Enthroned(Fig 1) and Justinian as world conqueror(Fig 2) are two examples of how they were represented during their time as leaders. Even though they are from two different time periods, the former being Egyptian and the latter Byzantine, they are both successful at displaying how artists and the people at their time period respectfully portrayed their rulers. Several stylistic characteristics of the Egyptian time period can be found on Khafre Enthroned. The Egyptian statue Khafre Enthroned, or the seated statue of Khafre, is the artwork depicting one of Egypt s earliest rulers. The sculpture was made in Dynasty 4, c. 2575 2525 BCE, Egypt, Fourth Dynasty and located in the second great pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre. The statue has many symbolisms, including the two stylized lions that form the throne. The lion was considered a royal symbol and a connection with the sun. The combination of the animal and the head of the pharaoh was an icon that was frequently used for a long period of time in the Egyptian history. (khanacademy) The lotus and papyrus plants between the pharaoh s legs are the symbols of both Upper and Lower Egypt united, as for the God Horus at his head presents his divine status as ruler. His godly status was also sculpted in the shape of Khafre s body. As a divine ruler, Khafre is portrayed with a built body and flawless face, an added trait regardless of his true age and appearance. In Egyptian standards, idealistic proportions were considered suitable for Pharaohs as they were presented to be god like. Because of this principle, the statue is not realistic in terms of Khafre s actual features.(Kleiner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The presentation of Mr. Lockwood in Wuthering Heights ======================================================= The novel, Wuthering Heights , begins in the year 1801, where we as readers are firstly introduced to the character Mr. Lockwood. Mr. Lockwood narrates the entire novel throughout, almost like an entry in his diary. Lockwood, a young London gentleman, is a newcomer to the Yorkshire Moors, Wuthering Heights. He missed all the obvious signs that Heathcliff did not want to invite him into his home, that he was not comfortable speaking to him or that he had an unfriendly nature. Lockwood, who comes from a more domesticated region of England finds himself in a less sociable area. My impression is that Lockwood is interested about the people and about the setting, he wishes to learn more about them by how he shows curiosity. I felt interested in a man who seemed more exaggeratedly reserved than myself. Once Lockwood has been granted permission, grudgingly by Heathcliff, he enters his house. He encounters an incident with some of Heathcliff s dogs, although Heathcliff did warn him about them, to which he pulls faces provoking them to attack him, to which neither Heathcliff or the servant Joseph seems to bother about. Fortunately for Lockwood, a female servant comes and shoos the dogs away. Although Lockwood is not injured, he appears to sulk in a childish manner, resulting in Healthcliff making up for this incident when he sees how angry Lockwood is. Wine is offered, and a conversation is brought about. Lockwood s foolish character analysis and bad judgement of Heathcliff prompts him to think of returning to Thrushcross Grange the next day, I was encourages so far as to volunteer another visit tomorrow. Cirrhotic Essay Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a specific indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in cirrhotic patients. The dosage of most PPIs should be reduced in cirrhotic as they are metabolized by the liver and associated with adverse effects of prolonged use. We aimed to review strict indications and adverse effects for their use in this group of patients. Keywords Proton pump inhibitors, liver cirrhosis, peptic ulcer, H. pylori, esophageal band ligation. However, high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices [9]. These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients without EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main pattern whereas the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this might contribute to bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are few, however, the indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with cirrhosis of the liver as general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the pathology secondary to gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection Prevalence of duodenal and gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease progress[11] and this prevalence becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated cirrhosis [12]. • 10. John Was Preaching Against Rome John was preaching against Rome in Revelation In the late first century a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, John of Patmos, received a vision of the end the world. John later wrote this vision down and his writing has come down to modernity as The Book of Revelation also known as The Apocalypse of John. When John wrote Revelation was he using it as a coded message to preach against Rome? In this vision, John saw many images that could be read as Rome or Roman if viewed from a historical context. Subsequent generations have interpreted the imagery within their own historical context. With this paper I will argue that Revelation pertains to the Roman world and culture that John and his followers were living in, the events in Judea that are thought to have occurred within his life time and that John used some of the same imagery to connect his writing to the Hebrew Bible. There are two main competing dates for the writing of Revelation, an early date of 69 70 and a later date of 90 92. This paper will be using the 69 70 date and will be providing evidence to prove why this date works better for the context of this paper. First this paper will establish the time frame in which John wrote Revelation. After World War II, the official communist party dominated all aspects of Polish politics, which soon became an issue with not only the working class of the country, but also the intellectual and educated Polish community. (Doc 4) The intellectual and party member support helped the workers movement gain serious momentum. A major factor in the emergence of the workers opposition movement also was the support of the Catholic Church and the Pope specifically. In September of 1976, the bishops of the Catholic Church in Poland called for the government and party to fully respect civil rights and conduct a real dialogue with society while also demanding that they stop all repression of workers involved in the protests of June 1976. (Doc 5) The fierce and somewhat scolding tone in which the demands are made show the Catholic Church s unwavering support for the Polish workers opposition. It is not surprising, however, that a group of Catholic bishops would demand better treatment for the Polish workers because, as members of the church, they would naturally be in favour of social justice. The value of having the Catholic Church support the movement manifests itself in the fact that the Polish communist party begins to require all teachers to tell students that the pope is an enemy and dangerous man who only wishes to charm the crowd. (Doc 7) This response to the pope s support demonstrates that the party itself realised that the church could have tremendous impact on the turnout of the opposition. Rousseau states, each one of us puts into the community his person and all his powers under the supreme direction of the general will; and as a body, we incorporate every member as an indivisible part of the whole (Rousseau 61). • 20. Review Of The Defense Of Globalisation BOOK REVIEW : IN DEFENSE OF GLOBALISATION INTRODUCTION: The subject of globalization can trigger a wide range of responses when brought up in a discussion. To its supporters, globalization represents advancement, monetary development, and promotes a better future. To its critics, it connotes greed, exploitation, and corruption. These assorted qualities of perspectives is maybe due to the way that globalization is naturally intricate and includes distinctive financial and social subtleties at different national and worldwide levels. Understanding globalization, in this manner, obliges one to perceive how these variables interrelate and impact each other. One text that makes a successful job of investigating these complex connections is Jagdish Bhagwati s In Defense of Globalization. Bhagwati, a Columbia University economics professor and author of numerous books on trade, makes all the right economic arguments, however without the flurry of factual connections frequently used to put forth the defense. Rather, he recounts the narrative of how globalization has conveyed a superior way of life in less developed nations, and how experiments with different avenues regarding protectionist import substitution policies have deliberately failed. However unlike numerous other texts on this subject, Bhagwati s presentation does not address the issue from a principally emotional point of view. With cloud computing, Pay as you go enables you to pay only for the utilized. For example, an application consumes only 50% of the processing power; you need not pay for the entire set of machines and would only pay for the utilized rate and cloud providers offer competitive prices today. To add to it operating costs like building space, power, cooling, maintenance of servers and network will be on the cloud service provider. The installation, upgrades and patches are easily done as cloud provider usually relies on virtual machines instead of physical equipment. According to a study, in the year of 2000, 45% of IT budget was spent on capital expenditure whereas only 6% of the resulting server capacity was utilized1. In this scenario, in the next couple of years the cost of server maintenance would exceed the capital expenditure invested with very less utilization ratio. Datacenters of large scales can reduce the economies and time of computing to a large extent and also contribute to the Green IT initiative saving the environment. Essay about Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness The novella Heart of Darkness illustrates readers with three different types of depictions that men had of women during the late 1800 s; also known as the imperialistic era. These depictions were as follows; the naive woman, the mistress, and the wealthy widow. The naГЇve woman was personified by Kurtz intended. The mistress was personified by the native African woman. The wealthy widow is personified by Marlow s aunt. This assumption can be made on various levels. The most obvious level is how Joseph Conrad never gave these characters names. Also when they are mentioned it is very brief. Kurtz s intended is the naГЇve character. She is alone and waiting for Kurtz for as long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The small part that she has in this novella she manages to sound like a naГЇve woman. The second character that we are introduced to is Kurtz s African mistress. The mistress is a beautiful woman who seems to evoke some sort of control over the men. Whenever she is mentioned the men just stand there as if in awe. She never speaks in the novella. During the late 1800 s it was acceptable for men to have mistress , I believe that is what Conrad tried to show. That s why Kurtz s intended never questioned why he was taking so long. She probably knew he had a mistress and couldn t really say anything against it. The mistress managed to gain some type of control over Kurtz, and that is why he hadn t left yet. Even Marlow was in awe when he saw the beautiful native woman with jewelry on. Perhaps she was a wealthy woman, and that s why the people respected her. The last female character that I will examine is Marlow s aunt. She is perhaps a wealthy widow, who also has nothing better to do with her money. She believes strongly on the topic of imperialism. She thinks that it helps people progress. She was the one who got Marlow this opportunity. Marlow s aunt is the combination of both characters. She was naГЇve and controlling at the same time. Conrad probably used this character to show readers how older women were in the past. Its amazing to see how men stereotyped women in the past it hasn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This method of thinking helped the perspective of looking at valence electrons and how those valence electrons bond with other chemicals or substances. That method is called the Lewis dot structure. When Gilbert Newton Lewis was learning how to draw the Lewis dot structures, he actually found useful information on what element people were working with. In Lewis dot structures; there are important bits of information like electronlocation on where the electrons are the number or types of bonds, and perhaps the shape of the atom. In element bonding or the elements electron placement, it is very important to take note of. This concept is important because when figuring out the location of the electrons, you can find out what needs to bond or exchange with other elements that it wants to. Also when finding out the electron placement of the element, this can show the properties of the element. This part of the atom that is capable of doing this is the valence orbital or valence shell. Another piece of important parts of a Lewis dot structure is the shape or geometric shape of the atom. • 28. Summary Of Danny Wants A Cup Of Water By John Steinbeck Steinbeck uses imagery and structure to champion his theme that it is peoples intrinsic character that will ultimately push them to survive even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. The passage opens with Steinbeck describing the cars along route 66 as fraught and unable to go on. He personifies them by stating that they are panting and struggling . He also uses a metaphor to compare them with rattling bodies , as if they are the migrant workers themselves. This characterization of the cars is meant to show an analogy between the migrants and the cars since both are on the brink of breaking down at any moment. He is able to use the short, yet very powerful story of twelve people in order to strengthen his psychological argument about how people are able to retain their trust and compassion even in such devastating times. This is exemplified through the repetition of Danny wants a cup of water . The first time it is said, Steinbeck uses a simile to describe how the concrete road shone like a mirror since it is so hot that it creates a rippling effect like a wave in the distance, almost as if the road is taunting Danny by containing pools of water when he cannot even have a drop. Because no one has yet acknowledged the thirsty boy, Danny wants a cup of water is repeated. Now, someone prompts a response with a sympathetic tone through the words, poor little fella. Furthermore, the person then demonstrates his persistence in getting the boy some water by saying he will stop at the next service station . Steinbeck has just explained how a majority of the cars are likely to break down at any moment; therefore, the simple fact that the family still decides to drive knowing that they might not make it shows how hopeful they really are. Moreover, with this worry constantly nagging at their minds, they are still able to focus on satisfying the boy s thirst. Steinbeck then transitions into a family that does not have a car, yet the same principle of hope and trust applies to them. They come together as a family and prepare for whatever hardships may come. Though, a man facing the same amount of struggle is able to pick them up, feed them, and take them to California. MLM was used due to the nested data structure (i.e., clients nested within therapists). Given this, the assumption of independent observations is not met which can result in increase of Type I error rates; therefore, traditional analytical strategies such as analysis of varianceare not appropriate. Specifically, MLM permits us to control for the variance effects from therapists to evaluate the effects of client feedback at the client level. This book explains how a poor baseball team went from a winning percentage under .500 to almost beating the richest team in baseball. The book is most accurately depicted by what the back of the cover articulates, MoneyBall is The most influential book on sports ever written . To begin, when I first opened the novel I had already had high expectations for the book as I and many others had already enjoyed the movie adaptation of the novel (though the book came out first), so it s no surprise that I immensely enjoyed the book. However, one thing I didn t know going into the reading is how much I would learn and question from having read it. • 42. Algonquian Middle Ground Analysis North American history is often perceived from the European mindset of superiority over the indigenous groups that were there eons prior. However, the underlying reality is much more complex than what is commonly accepted. Deep seeded relationships between the Native Americans and Europeans, both animus and amiable, created intricate societal structures in which natives were able to exercise historical agency over the European immigrants seeking to gain wealth. Historical agency can simply be explained as the control over the social and cultural development of one group of people relative to another. Following the arrival of European powers in the 17th century, indigenous peoplesexercised historical agency through controlling trade networks... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Returning to the idea of native agency, the Iroquois, in response to unfavorable treatment, could simply cease trade. The Europeans were spending large sums of money to sail across foreign waters to engage with people who dominated the lands stimulating European economies. A Mi kmaq raised a critical question, for if France, as thou sayest, is a little terrestrial paradise, art thou sensible to leave it Why risk thy life and thy property every year, and why venture thyself with such risk... to the storms and tempests of the sea in order to come to a strange and barbarous country which though considerest the poorest and least fortunate of the world? The European powers needed to tread lightly and respectfully, despite their biases of the indigenous people, in order to ensure that their flow of money not be hindered. Understanding the simplicity of the situation, the Iroquois formed an alliance with a European power attempting to grow, the Dutch. In 1609, Henry Hudson arrived from the Netherlands and established the West India Company in the Hudson River Valley area. The Dutch were known to make the best firearms at the time and engaged in trade with the Iroquois. The Iroquois gladly accepted trade offers of guns for furs, knowing ... • 43. The Nature of Discipleship According to Mark s Gospel... The Nature of Discipleship According to Mark s Gospel Discipleship is usually thought of as following Jesus, being a preacher and a teacher. Somebody who believes in something, or who believes in someone, and leaves everything behind them to try to make others believe the same is my personal belief of a disciple. In actual fact, the Old Testament word Talmid is a learner , and more obviously in the New Testament, a Diskipolos is a follower . The other important area of discipleship is serving others. When a disciple is healing a person, they are serving them, as he serving Jesus and God. So discipleship can be summed up; to follow, to learn, to preach, to believe, to serve. All factors are... The apostles returned and met with Jesus, and told him all they had done and taught (Mark 6:30) and They went out and preached that people should turn away from their sins. They drove out many demons, and rubbed olive oil on many sick people and healed them (Mark 6:12 13). Both of these quotes show us that the disciples followed instructions and did them well. However, their understanding of Jesus and his teachings wasn t very good. They understood neither the amazing powers Jesus possessed nor the wonders he could perform. Even though he would explain everything to them , in situations such as The Calming of the Storm and when Jesus walked on water, they just didn t have the strength to believe or the depth to understand. When the boat was filling with water in the Calming of the Storm (Mark 4:35 41), the disciples awoke Jesus to say, Teacher, don t you care that we are about to die? , Jesus said back to his disciples Why are you frightened? Have you still no faith? The story in Chapter 6, verses forty nine to fifty is similar. It s a ghost! , the disciples screamed when they saw Jesus walking on water.
