Network Security Threats for ASDI
New and Rapidly Advancing Threats One of the biggest threats to network security in 2014 is the
end of support for the Windows XP operating system (OS). On April 8th 2014, Microsoft will
discontinue support for the aging OS. What this means for users of Windows XP is that as new
vulnerabilities and exploits are discovered, they will not be fixed the vulnerabilities will only
continue to grow. For any business environment that is still using Windows XPbeyond April 8th, the
machines running the OS will become the organization s biggest securityflaw. It is highly likely
that hackers are holding back on using known zero day exploits for Windows XP until after April
8th because they know that beyond that date, the exploit will not be... Show more content on

An exploit kit such as Blackhole can pose a threat to ASDI in two ways. The first threat is to the
one hundred workstations. These workstations could potentially fall victim to a driveby
download if they are used to visit a compromised website. The other way ASDI could be harmed
by an exploit kit is if one or both of its web servers become compromised, and an exploit kit is
installed, the servers would then install malicious software on the company s customer s computers
when they visit the site.
Countermeasures and Prevention In order to ensure that ASDI s network is as secure as it can
be, it is important to ensure that the logical structure is appropriate to facilitate a secure network.
The company s two web servers need to be sectioned off from the internal subnets. This is best
accomplished through the use of a demilitarized zone (DMZ), which places a firewall between
the web servers and the intranet, and another firewall between the web servers and the Internet. If
the outer firewall is breached, the web servers may become compromised, but the intranet would
still be protected by an additional firewall. The student workstations should reside on a student
subnet which has no connectivity to the employee subnet. The employee and student subnets will
each have a file server connected, and the company s email server will be connected to the
employee subnet. There are already two WiFi access points (AP) at ASDI one will be

The United States Prison Population
The United States prison population has grown tremendously from approximately 500,000 to 2.3
million people in just three decades. We (U.S) spend almost $70 billion annually to place adults in
prison and jails, to confine youth in detention centers, and to supervise 7.3 million individuals on
probation and parole. California has the largest prisonpopulation in the country, with more than
170,000 individuals behind bars. In Los Angeles, more than half of current parolees live in
neighborhoods that are home to less than 20 percent of the city s adult residents. More than a
billion dollars are spent every year to incarcerate people from these communities. At the same
time, as of spring 2010, the Los Angeles Unified School District was projecting a deficit of $640
million in the 2010 11 academic year. As a result, district officials were planning to raise class
sizes and lay off thousands of teachers and other school based staff.
40% of students expelled from schools each year are black.
70% of students are involved in in school arrest.
2 x black and latino students are twice as likely to not graduate than white students
68% of all males in federal prison do not have a high school diploma
The yearly cost to incarcerate one child is $88,000 and the yearly cost of public education for one
child is $10,600
The school to prison pipeline is exactly how it sounds it is a system that pushes students out of
classrooms and into jail.

What Psychological Information Is Available From The Early...
Recognizing a face is a starting point when interacting socially, as it is the most important stimuli
we see. The face portrays information about a person s identity, their emotional state and where
they are directing their visual attention. To be able to process this information within a very short
space of time is crucial in social interactions and probably dates back to our ancestor s survival. The
human brainis very adept in processing an abundance of information in a simple yet effortless
way. These processes require such specific brain areas to do this. This essay is going to discuss
what psychological information is available from the early stages of face processing. The essay
will discuss the neuroscience and the regions of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When humans cognitively process faces this involves either holistic processing or configural
processing. There is evidence that the processing of faces is done much more holistically than with
objects as this comes from studies of inversion (Yin, 1969). An inverted face impairs the recognition
and is much more difficult to encode than with other objects and this could be due to the spatial
relations.
In facial recognition a face model was created by Bruce and Young in 1986 and is one of the most
influential face models to be created and is still used. It comprises of eight components: structural
encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis, directed visual processing, face recognition
nodes, person identity nodes, name generation and cognitive system. According to their face
recognition model various types of information are acquired from faces. When recognising a
familiar face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, face recognition units,
person identity nodes and name generation. In comparison with an unfamiliar face, the
components used depend largely on structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech
analysis and directed visual processing. However, as the face model created by Bruce and Young
(1986) was quite complex, a simpler version was created by Duchaine and Nakayama (2006) which
provided four stages: face detection, structural encoding, face memory and emotion/gender etc.
It is undeniable

The USould Adopt The Metric System
The US should adopt the metric system. The US is one of three countries that still use the imperial
system. Everybody else uses the metric system. We need to change to the metric system because of
two factors, social and economic. There are many reasons why we need to change. Some of the
reasons are conversion errors. Another reason is the metric systemis easier to use. Though the metric
system and the imperial system are quite different.
The Imperial system use feet, inches, and pounds. The metric system use meters and grams and
then it also adds prefixes. To be in more depth, foot is the unit of length, pound is the unit of
weights, and seconds are the unit of time, for the Imperial system. For the metric system, meter is
the basic unit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a lot of conversion errors because we use a different measurement system. For
example, in 1999 NASA s Mars Orbiter spacecraft crash, costing them $125 million dollars. The
project has been already $327.6 million. It should of been 140 150 km above Mars, but instead
it was 57km above. Being so close to Mars s surface cause it to crash. This happened because one
team of engineers used the imperial system and everybody else used the metric system. This
supports my reason, because of one team using a different measurement system cost them
millions of dollars. Another example is Tokyo Disney Space mountain. It shut down because an
axle on it snapped. The bolt that was delivered was 31.75 millimeters, which was 19.25
millimeters too small. That happened because of a conversion error. This supports my reason
because we used a different system they got the wrong sized bolt. My final reason is a passenger
plane ran out of fuel about halfway to their destination. The fuel loading was miscalculated. There
was 7,682 liters in the tank and they needed 22,300 kilograms. They added 4,916 liters and they
needed 20,088 liters. This supports my reason, because they miscalculated they ran out of fuel.
That s my main examples for the social factor. The social factor is not the only factor. Another
main factor for the US to change to the metric system is economic. It s costing us money for not
changing. For example any company that deals outside the US has to deal with conversions
between the metric and the imperial systems. Even when they know how to switch the units, they
still made errors. Those errors cost them money, and why are these errors happening can be
contribute to learning the metric system at an early

Balkan War Research Paper
BACKGROUND.
Raised in all wars in the world is difficult to understand the roots of conflicts, simplifying, the
causes can be psychological, traditional or modern base. History is always present and is used as
a motivating force, along with others, in almost every war there are economic reasons as secondary
causes. In the Balkan War, it has historically been characterized by its high vulnerability to conflicts
of low, medium and high intensity, especially because of the events that took place during this
century, which have been decisive and marked conclusively the present conflict .
One of the main problems of this war is the ethno nationalism, which has led to the creation of states
identified with their national existence, by the refusal of the Political Marxist Leninist, for
alternative policies ranging from tolerance to ethnic minorities to debugging, the latter being forced
expulsion (minorities) of the disputed regions.
Similarly the search for new definitions of Nation in the absence of democratic and cultural
traditions in populations of states where ethnic groups are entitled to claim some territory.

Gun Control Laws Should Be Stricter Laws
Many people believe there should be stricter gun control laws. By this they mean, regulate the sale,
manufacture, possession, transfer, and use of firearms. They believe if the government does not
make stricter gun control laws, then gun violence and deaths due to guns will only continue to
increase over the years. Although there are many people for guncontrol laws, there are many
people who are also against it. Some of the people who are against gun control laws probably
will not understand why there should be stricter gun control laws until something happened to
them or someone in their family due to a gun crime. The United States did not have the civil
authorities as we do today. Americans had to rely on guns to protect themselves as laws evolved.
Times were different in America and that is why the Second Amendment was ideal. Guns were
not as dangerous then as they are now. Firearms at the time were very slow to load and that is one
of the reasons gun control was not a real big issue. Gun control started to become necessary when
the rates for accidental deaths and gun violence were continuing to increase.
The National Firearms Act was enacted in 1934. The National Firearms Act was not created to
make money, but to lower the crime rates and make it impossible for people to buy and sell
automatic fire weapons. Today many people hope that gun control laws will get stricter by
allowing longer and more background checks that go more in depth. Today the background check is

Theme Of Genesis 12-50
The two major themes of Genesis 12 50 are be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. These two
themes are first stated in Genesis 1:28, but recur many times throughout Genesis, especially
with Abraham, his son Isaac, and Isaac s son Jacob. One challenge Abraham faces in regards to
the blessing of progeny is his wife s, Sarah s, barrenness. This barrenness is a fact of her
existence. (Brown, 309) At first Sarah gives Abraham one of her slaves, Hagar, in order for him to
have a child. (Gen. 16) This is exploitation, but when Hagar becomes pregnant, it improves her
situation from being just a slave, to being protected because she is pregnant. (Weems) Hagar gives
birth to Ishmael, Abraham s first born. After this, Godopens Sarah s womb and she is able to have a
child, Isaac. (Gen. 21) Sarah then has Ishmael and Hagar sent away because she wants Isaac to
receive the full inheritance by himself. But God promises Abraham that a nation will be made
from Ishmael as well as Isaac. (Gen. 21) This shows that God favors the oppressed, especially
since he takes care of Hagar and Ishmael while they are in the wilderness. (Tamez, 13) By sending
Ishmael out into the wilderness to form a nation, it fulfills the fill the earth promise that God made
to Abraham. (Sarah Shectman, Abraham s Family , n.p. [cited 12 Nov 2017]. Online: http:/

Question:
Analyse the contribution that Paul of Tarsus had on the development and expression of Christianity.
Paul of Tarsus or Saint Paul is considered by many Christians today to be the most important
disciple of Jesus, and beside this the second important found in the development of Christianity.
Saint Paul had a major impact on the spread of Christianity, contributing to the underlying unity of
the religious tradition by helping expand Jesus original teachings into a developed integrated belief
system.

He became an advocate for the inclusion of the Gentiles among the true followers of Christianity.
Until Paul s challenge, Jewish Christians believed that non Jews had to convert to Judaism and
follow the law, which included restrictions and circumcision. Gentiles who worship in the
synagogue but did not become proselytes were called god fearers and were only second class
citizens in the synagogue. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/Circumcision_controversy_in_early_Christianity)
As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian
Gentiles, believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church
fellowship and for the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief,
(Galatians 2: 11 14) most strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision
by the early Christian leaders to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of
Nazareth and to call themselves Christians.
Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more
freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. (Christianity vs. Judaism
worksheet).
Paul s writings on social issues were just as influential on the life and beliefs of the Christian
culture, and are still considered part and parcel of the broader Christian doctrine by the more
conservative Christians.
Paul condemned sexual immorality; homosexuality in

The Family Medical Leave Act The Family Medical Leave Act was passed in 1993 and updated in
2008 and 2009. The law requires employers with 50 or more employees to allow up to 12 weeks of
unpaid leave. The provision of the law would allow employees who have worked for one year and
have worked at least 1,250 hours to use the unpaid leavefor family or medical reasons (DeCenzo

service, any combination of weeks worked that equal to 52 weeks makes and employee eligible for

A Clockwork Orange Analysis
A Clockwork Orange is a film directed by Stanley Kubrick, which explores the examination of the
baser human emotions. The movie is set in a not so distant ,dystopian future, where an English
society is dominated by an extreme culture of youth violence. The society in the film is one that is
seemingly dictated by primal instincts, a society where murder and rape are commonplace and
sexuality manages to penetrate the facets of their culture; appearing everyone from clothing to
home decor. The story is told by the protagonist, Alex DeLarge. Alex is characterized as a
psychopath and a juvenile delinquent that finds pleasure in violence and rape, but at the same time,
he is intelligent with a sophisticated taste in art, literature and music, being particularly fond of
Beethoven s 9th symphony. Alex undergoes a mental transformation when being a subjective to the
Ludovico experiment which alters his disposition towards the immoral pleasure seeking activities
that had previously entertained him.
Freudian psychoanalytic theory aims to cure mental disorders by investigating the interaction of the
conscious and unconscious elements in the mind. This theory is also based upon the specific
theories of how the mind, the insitincts and secuality work, (Peter Berry, 92). Freud s conception of
the human psyche includes the conscious, the preconscious and the unconscious. The different
forms of Alex that we see before and after the Ludovico technique can be understood in the context
of the three part structural model of the psyche conceived by Freud. That is, the id, the ego, and the
superego.
The id is the part of a personality that contains a person s primitive impulses, such as thirst, anger,
hunger and the desire for instant gratification and release. Freud believed that the id is based on
our pleasure principle, so whatever the id wants at that time to feel good, it will do it, with no
regard or consideration for the reality of the situation. According to Freud, the id presents the
unconscious, instinctive aspect of the personality that serves to relieve pain and tension through
reflec and primary process, (Emmett and Veeder, 231). Alex freely acts out on his id desires through
committing violent acts with

Differences Between Arial And Helvetica
Super Normal, from a conceptual point of view, leans on an intentional and extraordinary
ambivalence (Fukasawa Morrison, 2012, p.1). Specifically, based on the terminology, it could be
taken both as an oxymoron that super opposes normal , means beyond ; or a concept of absolute
superlative in which the Super Normal determines the superlative of normal to its greatest degree in
its ontological form. Although the etymology of what is considered to be normal relates to ordinary
with no features, in the context of what Fukusawa and Morrison defined, Super Normal are not
normal any more by making them so normal . They become both normal and exceptional , pushing
the norm to the boundaries of the possibility, and introjecting a... Show more content on

They both are sans serif typefaces that are universally embraced by different communication
platforms. At first glance, they seem very similar. When Arial was released in 1982, it was seen as
a copy of Helvetica of 1957. But if designers examine the characters in each typeface closely, the
differences between them become apparent. Mark Simonson (2001), an American graphic
designer, produced an analysis of this two, showing how much more refined Helvetica is than
Arial. The primary difference is Helvetica is vertically cut, while Arial is slightly angled. For
instance, the tail of the a is gently curved in Helvetica, as is the first connection of the bowl to the
stem, but not in Arial. Similarly, the top of the t and the ends of the strokes in the C and S are
perfectly horizontal in the former, but slightly angled in the latter. In My mind, even though the
distinguishing details are so tiny that can be noticed when they are scrutinized magnified versions
of each character as Simonson did. Yet it is these subtleties that constitute Helvetica a finer
example of design than Arial, especially for professionals. Functionally the two types are roughly
equal, both are admirable clear, but aesthetically Helvetica is

Different Types Of Fibers And The Distinguishing...
Introduction The purpose of this lab was to learn about the different types of fibers and the
distinguishing characteristics of used to identify them. Natural fibers and man made fibers were
examined in this lab. The fibers tested were part of a multi fiber fabric with the following
arrangement: Acetate
Cotton
Nylon

The first lab activity was to observe and record the characteristics of each of these fibers through a
stain test, a microscope test, a solvent test, and a burn test. The second lab activity was to observe
the characteristics of an unknown fiber thread and to identify the fiber by comparing its
characteristics to the data from the first activity. The burn test is used to observe the reaction of a ...

Significance Of Witchcraft Hysteria In The Crucible
There are many important contributing factors as to why the witchcraft hysteria gripped Salem,
Massachusetts. Whether it would be superstition, religion, economics, politics, or gender, they all
played a huge part in this chaotic event. One of them is superstition, the belief in and reverence for
supernatural beings, caused everyone in the miniature town of Salem to hang their very own
citizens due to young girls pretending that some ladies in town are witches and that they wounded
them by using witchery . It all started with a slave named Tituba who worked for Samuel Parris, the
local preacher in Salem. One day when the preacher was out and Tituba and Samuel s niece,
Abigail Williams and his daughter, Bette Parris were at home. The girls, reading scripture and
Tituba, preparing food were having a quiet afternoon when Abigail wanted to get her future told.
Tituba, who comes from an island and her background experiences of voodoo, reads the girl s
future in the palm of her hand. During this process, Bette gets overwhelmed and ends up acting
out in an abnormal way, almost as if her soul left her body. Wanting to share the fascination of
what Tituba can do, many of the young girls in Salem gathered in the preacher s house once he is
not home.
Realizing this power, the girls start imagining occurrences and start blaming innocent town
members of performing witchcraft on them. Thus, coming back to superstition, since everyone
believed these girls and their tales because they

What Are The Struggles In The Diary Of Anne Frank
Finding joy in life can be a struggle when going through troublesome circumstances, but many are
able to persevere through the support from our family and friends. The Diary of Anne Frank by
Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett describes the life of a Jewish teenager, Anne Frank, while she
is in hiding from an environment that is prejudiced to Jews. Throughout the story, it depicts the
confined conditions Anne must endure in order to stay alive and away from the anti Semitic
government. During the time in which she stays in the Secret Annex, she grows tremendously,
maturing in a multitude of ways. Anne Frankmanages to stay optimistic in spite of the hardships she
often faces through the attachments she creates with the objects and people... Show more content on

The Franks and Van Daans have enshrouded themselves in their annex for several months, but
the Nazis tolerance for Jews has only gotten worse. The deafening, thunderous sounds of war
finally takes a toll on Anne, and one day she wakes up screaming from a nightmare, immediately
seeking the comfort of her father. I m trying. Really I am. Every night I think back over all of the
things I did that day...I have a nicer side, Father... a sweeter, nicer side (247). Anne realizes that
her actions to others have been unkind and inconsiderate. She understands that at times she may
be insensitive, but she tries to make amends, clearly illustrating how much she has matured.
Disclosing those thoughts to her father Whenever the stress and pressure of hiding gets to be too
much, she knows she can always turn to her father. The connection between them is inextricable;
Anne has spent the majority of her life spending time with her father, from the small study
sessions they have to discussing their favorite books. Anne reveals all her concerns and sorrows
to her father, and she relies solely on him to give her advice and listen to her problems. Spending
time conversing with Mr. Frank soothes her worries, and she finds comfort in simply hearing his
wise words. Anne sees her father as a pillar of strength, someone she can lean on when she is
experiencing burdensome tasks. Anne perceives Mr. Frank as calm, logical, and supportive. For
this reason, he becomes Anne s closest confidante, and she completely believes that he will not
harshly criticize her actions, but rather give her carefully thought out guidance. As a result, the
support from her father helps encourage her to stay hopeful for the

A Research Proposal of the Effects of Online Gaming
De La Salle Araneta University College of Arts Sciences Education and Technology Electronics II:
A Research Proposal of the Effects of Online Gaming Submitted By: Taha, Jackilyn A. Avanzado,
Annabelle Submitted To: Eng r. Aga Madelo Chapter 1 The title and its Background Introduction:
Over the past two decades, electronic games have become ingrained in our culture. Children s
fixation with these games initially alarmed parents and educators, but educational researchers soon
questioned whether the motivation to play could be tapped and harnessed for educational purposes.
However, although many claim that educational potential lies within video games, they still have

Chapter II Review of related Literature Summary: Online gaming has faced and still faces many
problems. The main reason for this is that the Internet was not designed for such a medium. The
Internet was designed to provide redundant points of communication, not to provide high speed
arcade action (Bates, Lag and the Game Reviewers 175). A few technological barriers stand in
the way of a vision of ideal multi player gaming over the Internet. The most significant of these
technological problems are the problems of latency and reliability. Internet latency is inevitable
data transfer delays that create lag in games, keeping an online game from running smoothly.
Some also feel that because of this lag, true interactive gaming will never be possible over the
Internet. Bandwidth issues are also a problem. Receiving data is difficult over the Internet,
particularly collecting data from several players in a multi player game. Another problem that
online gamers face is finding people to play with online. Dedicated game server sites have helped
answer this problem. MPath, TEN, and BattleNet are some such game systems whose principal
mission is match making. However, some of these dedicated game servers charge

Cyber Security Analyst Career Goals
Throughout high school, I have been given ample time and resources to determine what career,
academic, and vocational goals I would like to accomplish later on in life. My goal in life for
my academics and career field is simple. I would like to go to college and undergo the necessary
teachings to become a Cyber Security Analyst. More specifically, I would like to attend Capitol
Technology University in Laurel, Maryland as a full time student and study in their Cyber Security

would lead to internship opportunities at well known companies and organizations such as the
United States National Security Agency, United States Department of Homeland Security, and the
Committee on National Security Systems. These internships could lead to major career
opportunities that open up doors for my future. If I do manage to acquire an occupation in the

Pros And Cons Of A Cocktail Before 21
A Cocktail Before 21? In America a minor is determined as an adult when they reach the age of
eighteen. At the age of eighteen, one has many decisions to make. One decision they can make
is to choose whether or not to break the law about the legal drinking age. In many countries at
the age of eighteen, one may legally drink alcohol unlike in America the legal age to drink
alcohol is twenty one. In Keeping Legal Drinking Age At 21 Saves 900 Lives Yearly: Study,
Bahar Gholipour opposes lowering the drinking age. Studies conducted since 2006 provided
evidence for researchers to conclude that laws maintaining the legal drinking age at twenty one,
has lowered the rates of drunk driving deaths. Gholipour provides the statistic of ... the number
of fatally injured drunk drivers decreased by 57 percent among those ages of sixteen to twenty....
Researchers have also sustained evidence that shows the current drinking age has not lead to an
increase of binge drinking within the teen population. Gholipour quotes, William Dejong, study
researcher: The evidence is clear that there would be consequences if we lowered the legal
drinking age. Having a higher drinking age has lead to mainly positive effects, such as, less
alcohol consumption by youths and less alcohol related traffic crashes. According to Gholipour

Food, Inc. is a documentary film made by Michael Pollan and Eric Schlosser. In this documentary
they took a look at the practices of food production in the United States. There are several things
that I learned from this documentary that was horrifying to me. For this paper I will focus on the
following three topics covered in the documentary: fast foodto all food, the dollar menu, and
hidden costs. The beginning of the documentary discusses fast food to all food. In this section a
history of the fast food industry is provided. The documentary further discusses how the fast food
industry has transformed what people eat. In addition it debates the farming practices and the

Most of the meat in grocery stores comes from these companies even though they are stamped
from farm . This can be very misleading for consumers. The dollar menu section of this
documentary focused on how processed foods and fast food are typically less expensive than
healthier foods. The documentary shows one family having the dilemma at the grocery store: a
family is aware that the father who has diabetes needs a healthier diet with more fresh, but they
are forced to buy foods they can afford. As the film implies people with lower incomes are more
likely to eat processed, cheaper, foods, leading to a higher rate of diabetes, obesity and other
health problems. The federal government spends billions each year subsidizing commodity
crops. Over time, prices of certain crops, like soybeans and corn, were lowered due to these
subsidies causing overproduction which made them a lot cheaper than other crops. Since these
crops were so cheap, meat and food producers started using them for a variety of purposes, such
as, high fructose corn syrup, animal feed and hydrogenated oils. The lowest priced options at the
grocery are processed foods made from subsidized ingredients that have refined grains with added
fats and sugars. This cheap food has had the greatest impact on low income families. Because are

Non-Consensual Property Rights
Non Consensual Property Rights
Some form of classification is necessary to aid attempts to bring order to a confusing and
confused area of law. If the events from which non consensual property rights arise can be
classified, then the law s response is more likely to be consistent and coherent. Yet there are
problems. The very nature of the facts that are brought before courts in the sorts of cases that
comprise this area of law demand fairness, and legal policy considerations lurk behind every
rationalisation. This makes it more difficult to achieve coherence, but our task is less demanding
than achieving coherence in the law: we only need to look at the sets of facts that give rise to

of the shares would be to make a takeover bid. In the end, Mr Boardman made such a bid,
successfully, in his personal capacity. However, this became an event giving rise to non consensual
property rights, a wrong, because he only gained the opportunity to do this and the information
necessary while purportedly (or actually) acting in the capacity of adviser to the trustees. Mr
Boardman did not act dishonestly in the sense that he deliberately set out to deceive the
beneficiaries. After his actions they effectively doubled their money . Viscount Dilhorne, who

which he distinguished on the ground that there the fiduciary held assets originally belonging to the
trust which wasn t the case in Boardman) required wrongdoing which was absent in the case

Measuring the cerebral blood volume has always been a focal point of several neuroimaging studies
in order to get a better understanding of the varied structure function relationships within the human

Doppler ultrasound is a way to measure the peak systolic and diastolic velocities. Resting peak
velocities in both common carotid and internal carotid arteries decrease as individual ages. If a
stenosis is present, then the internal carotid velocity increases relative to the normal values. To
get an estimate of the blood flow, researchers use Doppler and B mode ultrasound measurements.
(3) By examining the blood flow at the bifurcation ridge in the carotid artery, we could determine
few key features of the blood that is being delivered to the brain via the carotid arteries. Nearly two
thirds of the entire flow, enters the internal carotid artery and the velocity of the blood in the
proximal internal carotid artery is usually higher on the wall next to the bifurcation.

For many reasons, tension grew in the relationship between Britain and America.
Tensions first arose when the London government issued the Proclamation of 1763. This
proclamation prohibited settlement in the area beyond the Appalachians, by the colonies.
This angered many Americans because they felt that the land was their birthright, but this document
was not drawn up to oppress the colonies, but it was made to work out the
Indian problem to prevent another uprising like Pontiac s. Mercantilism also added to the tension
between Britain and America. Tension arose from mercantilism because
Americans were not at liberty to buy, sell, ship or manufacture under conditions that they found
most profit. The Boston Gazette explained how the colonists felt about mercantilism by stating, A
colonist cannot make a button, a horseshoe, nor a hobnail, but some snotty ironmonger of Britain
shall bawl and squall that his honor s worship is most egregiously maltreated, injured, cheated, and
robbed by the rascally American republics, proving that the colonists were very upset about
England s new laws of mercantilism (22 23). Also, many Virginian planters were plunged into a
dept by the falling price of tobacco, and were forced to buy their necessities in England, by
mortgaging future crops. Mercantilism also showed favoritism for the southern colonies over the
northern colonies,

Women s Rights Are Human Rights Speech
When First Lady Hillary Clinton delivered her speech Women s Rights Are Human Rights at the
United Nations 4th World Conference in 1995, she focused on giving voice to the inequality of
women in countries around the world. Hoping to raise awareness about women s rights Clinton
says, We are focusing world attention on issues that matter most in our lives the lives of women and
their families. She expands on the statement by helping the men identify with the women in their
lives such as their mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters. Hillary effectively persuades the audience
of delegates, government officials, and people from around the world to identify with the need to
empower, strengthen and support women in their lives. In this speech, Hillary uses ethos, logos,
pathos, and repetition to successfully deliver a compelling argument for revolution. Admittedly,
Hilary Clinton has spoken around the world about the challenges that women have faced. However,
it is the continued struggle of American women that inspires and fuels her passion and fight for
equality in this male dominated culture. Also, while married to bill Clintonwho was actively

The Causes Of President Richard Nixon And The Watergate...
The Watergate Scandal
During the early 1970 s, a scandal took place at the hands of former president, Richard Nixon.
Richard Nixon wanted to ensure that he got the chance to get reelected. He took extreme measures
to do so, one of those extreme measures included espionage. On June 17, 1972, five burglars were
taken down to the police station after breaking into the Watergate complex buildings in Washington,
D.C. The five burglars; James McCord, Virgilio Gonzalez, Frank Sturgis, Eugenio Martinez, and
Bernard Baker. These five men broke into Headquarters for the Democratic National Committee,
which was located in the Watergate hotel. This triggered the entire scandal and eventually led to
Nixon s demise.
The prowlers were connected to President Richard Nixon s reelection campaign, and they had been
caught wiretapping phones and stealing documents. Nixon took aggressive steps to cover up the
crime afterwards, and in August 1974, after his role in the conspiracy was revealed, Nixon
resigned. The Watergate scandalchanged American politics forever, leading many Americans to
question their leaders and think more critically about the presidency. (insert citation) A forceful
presidential campaign therefore seemed essential to the president and some of his key advisers.
Their aggressive tactics included what turned out to be illegal espionage. In May 1972, as
evidence would later show, members of Nixon s Committee to Re Elect the President (known
derisively as CREEP) broke into

Ancient China s Trade and Economy
From as early as 2100 BCE to as late as 1912 CE, China lived and prospered in the period of the

believe otherwise. I believe that a villain is not just someone who has done wrong, or acted
immorally, but someone who has done those things without reason. The more we think about it,
the more we see how unlikely these crimes apply to reality and how much they evade us from the
truth of the villain world. The character Macbeth in the tragedy of Macbeth and Jae Hee in The

The Taming of the Shrew
William Shakespeare is considered the greatest playwright of all time. His gift for developing
characters is one major exposure that accounts for this dignified acknowledgement. Shakespeare
have written on several characters and the conversion of their ideas and personalities from foolish
to generals and leaders. The characters were represented with such realism that spectators can judge
their personalities and views with their personalities for better or poorer. When we hear or think of

Lucentio imitates the sort of tranquil, poetical view of love that Petruchio s inevitability dismisses.
Lucentio is hit by love for Bianca at first sight, says that he will die if he cannot win her heart, and
subsequently puts into motion a romantic and fanciful plan to do so. Whereas love in the play is
often mitigated by economic and social concerns. The difference between Lucentio and Petruchio
discriminates The Taming of the Shrew from other Elizabethan plays. Through Lucentio and
Bianca, the play looks beyond the moment when the quixotic lovers are wed and represents the
penalties of the costumes and stratagems they have attractively employed to expedite their
romance. Once the practical business of being married begins, Lucentio s fixation with courtly love
seems somewhat old fashioned and ludicrous. In the end, it is Petruchio s disturbing, colorful
uncomplicatedness that harvests a happy and functioning marriage, and Lucentio s poeticized
instincts leave him humiliated when Bianca refuses to answer his summons. Love certainly exists
in the world of The Taming of the Shrew, but Lucentio s dramatic love, striking however it is,
appears incapable to survive with the full range of problems and considerations facing married

Evaluate Bowlbys Theory On Attachment And The Learning...
In the part of the essay I will describe and evaluate Bowlbys theory of Attachment and the learning
theory of Attachment. I will show strengths and weaknesses in both theories. I will use a collection
of source literature to back up and correlate this information.
Attachment, according to Emde (1982) is a deep and enduring emotional bond that connects one
person to another, across time and space. John Bowlby, and Evolutionist, believed that attachment
was pre programmed. In order for us to survive as a species, we needed to attach to a significant
other; that its innate in us to single out a few specific individuals around us and attach to them, an
so providing a survival advantage. Bowlby rationalised that the attachment between a mother and
infant was unlike any other bond; very unlike the bond an infant would develop with another
human. He coined it Monotrophy . Bowlby believed that babes had have built in social releasers
that help form attachment, for example, crying and smiling. These would stimulate responses in
caregivers. Bowlby also suggested that the infant would form only one primary attachment, and that
this attachment would act as a secure base for exploring the world. This theory was also backed up
by Mary Ainsworth The Strange Situation , Eysenck (2000). Another conclusion in Bowlbys
attachment theory was that there was a sensitive period; a period were imprinting was important.
This would affect attachment and have lifelong consequences. He

American Dream Many persons will give everything to come and reside in the United States.
There are some persons that pay a high amount of money to travel with someone who is going to

Aryan Culture
Term Paper Aryan and Hindu Culture One of the largest and most popular cultures in India is
the Aryan Culture. The Aryan culture was based on parts of modern day Pakistan and the upper
west parts of India. The Aryans were not originally from India. They were a very war like people
and invaded through the Khyber Pass in the upper west region of India. They invaded between
the years of 2000 1000 BCE and invaded in multiple successful waves. The success of the Aryan
invasion was mostly attributed to their use of more advanced technologies. The advanced
technologies included horse drawn chariots that had small and light spiked wheels attached to
them as well as superior bronze weaponry. The people that were settles in the area being invaded
had, at most, stonge age type weaponry, such as spears and possibly bows, and maybe an ox
cart for travelling. Through many years of invasions and many different leaders, they settled
throughout the Indus Valley region and later spread into other parts around the year 1500 BCE,
replacing the Dravidian people who currently were settled in the area. The Aryan culture was
made up of mostly semi nomadic people as well as herdsman who raised chickens and cows and
many were farmers who grew crops in the rich soil near the Indus Valley river. The word Aryan
comes from the Sanskrit word ДЃrya, which means Noble One or Noble . The Aryan people are the
common ancestor culture to the Persians, Celts, pre Homeric Greeks, and the Teutons. They had

Work-Family Balance
Work Family Balance
Contemporary gender role attitudes have changed partly as a response to the steady increase in
women s participation in the labor force. Although this increase was especially evident in the
1970s and 1980s, as was the move toward more egalitarian attitudes, it continued in the 1990s
through the present. College educated men and women are less likely to hold traditional ideas
about gender, work and family roles. Within the family, attitudes toward gender roles have become
more liberal, moving in the direction of sharing of housework and childcare. (Cohen, Devault
Strong, 2011). An ideal for modern family is to share wage earning and family responsibilities in
equal basis (Lamanna, Riedman and Strahm, 2012).
Giraffe (2011) stated that individuals manage the competing demands of work and personal lives,
the need for lifelong learning, and the responsibilities of parenting are real issues for today s
workforce. Social institutions such as marriage and childrearing have changed, leading to more
single mothers, evolving roles for women in the workplace, and more men in new roles at home.
Longer life expectancy and later childbearing age have created the sandwich generation of middle
aged adult workers, who simultaneously provide care for their children and their senior family
members.
A great deal of research and other writings on the subject suggest that today s typical dual earner
family or a family with a working single parent is a hectic one; this is

To make the stand
It is imperative to understand that this work was initiated based on an opinion that has led to do
research to justify the means. The opinion remains, anybody that needs government support must

Artificial Reef Case Study
After evaluating the two suggested proposals against the main criteria of social/ political, economic
and environmental it was concluded that proposal B, to construct the artificial reef is the most
suitable option to implement at Palm Beach to ensure both short and long term health and
sustainability of the beach. Even though the artificial reef had some negatives, they were
outweighed by the environmental, social and long term economic advantages. The artificial reef is
an earth cantered system which can be implemented as an environmentally form of economic
growth, and it is a sustainable use of resources which will ensure that Palm Beach is maintained and
in good condition for future generations, therefore it is a bio centric environmental... Show more

Additionally, since the destructive waves break on the reef then only the low energy, constructive
waves reach the shore which makes deposition possible therefore the beach will have the chance to
naturally build up sand and widen. Even though the beach nourishment program is already
established so there are no initial costs required and the artificial reef has high construction costs,
around $16.9 million to be implemented, the reef has very low maintenance costs (to ensure it is
working effectively) this is minute in comparison of the ongoing costs of the beach nourishment
program. However, with the artificial reef there may be the need to implement another program or
to continue the beach nourishment program to support it. Yet, even though there are extremely
high initial costs, the artificial reef would increase tourism and support local businesses, which
outweighs and justifies the large cost as in the long term it will be economically beneficial. Also, it
is aesthetically pleasing, attracts diverse marine life, improves surf quality and recreational amenity
so it will attract tourists and will take pressure off the natural reefs whilst aiding to stabilise the
beach. Overall, the implementation of an artificial reef would be effective coastal management
strategy as

ILE Graduation Address
ILE Graduation Address
Aloha. Thank you for that kind introduction and warm reception. It is truly an honor to be here with
you.
Congratulations on what you have accomplished. I m sure your families, friends, and colleagues
are extremely proud of you. I know I am.
The strength of our Army is our Soldiers. The strength of our Soldiers is our families. We could
never do what we as professionals and Soldiers without their support. When we deploy to serve our
nation and do the profession we called to, the responsibility of raising of the kids, resolving
arguments with the neighbors, fixing the broken refrigerator falls on them. Our families have
sacrificed more than we can ever imagine during these 10 plus years of sustained conflict. Please
join me in a warm round of applause for our families.
Many of you will soon return to the operational Army to lead our nations sons and daughters and I
know you understand the seriousness of our profession and the tasks that await you.
ILE marks a turning point of many officer s careers. ILE tends to be the first school attended
almost exclusively by officers who have chosen to make the profession of arms their career.
As such, I want to leave you with a few thoughts about our profession of arms. First, think about
what it means to be a profession.
Professions produce uniquely expert work, not routine or repetitive work. Effectiveness, rather than
pure efficiency, is the key to the work of professionals. Professionals require

The Character of King Richard III in William Shakespeare s...
The Character of King Richard III in William Shakespeare s Play
In my opinion Richard is definitely not a hero, he is nothing more than an immoral villain. He is a
cunning, callous and carefree murderer. However, for much of the play the audience view him as a
hero. Throughout my essay I aim to argue why Richard is an immoral villain whilst contrasting
why many may perceive him as a hero.
For much of the play Richard may be seen as a hero. One reason for this is his dramatic language.
Shakespeare s use of long, fascinating monologues in which Richard outlines his evil plans and
thoughts are central to the audiences experiences and impressions of Richard. Thus, enabling his

For example, I am determined to prove a villain and About a prophecy which says that G of
Edward s heirs the murderer shall be. Dive, thoughts, down to my soul. Here Clarence comes. the
audience will still view him as a hero, because of the way he hides his cunning and deceitful plans
from others. By doing so we could question whether Shakespeare is genuine, as he is wrongfully
leads us to like Richard, therefore allowing Richard to undeservedly become our hero for most of
the play. The fact that Shakespeare doesn t introduce the other characters also aids in him becoming
the hero. Moreover, because we are unaware of the other characters and know nothing about them
we have little concern regarding whether they are been tricked or not.
Furthermore, Richard could be seen as a hero through his wooing of Anne. For example he tries
to explain his killing of Edward Your beauty was the cause of that effect (1, 2, 125), whilst at the
same time complementing Anne. He also mentions to Anne Vouchsafe to wear this ring (1, 2,
205), which also suggests he wishes to marry her and Anne accepts the ring. Shakespeare is here
demonstrating Richard s skills linguistically, as he tactically blames her for his sins but he does so

Budget Justification For The Program
Budget Justification
The budget requested in this competitive renewal application is about 20% more than the current
budget. The primary reason for this increase is due to an increased expenditure in breeding
animals and animal service charges as we expanded the use of animals in the proposed grant. In
the past 4 years, employee salaries at the UT Heath Center were increased by about 10%. This
contributed a minor fraction of the increase. We used a 3% costescalation in preparing the budget
for future years.

The Definition Of Globalization Given By The Writers At...
The definition of globalization given by the writers at globalization101.org is is a process of
interaction and integration among, the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a
process driven by international trade and investement and aided by information technology . This
definition, by all rights is a general, all inclusive statement about globalizationand its respective
components. However, the fact of the matter is, this definition does not truly reflect the
importance and globalization s true value as a necessary component of most, if not all of major
economies and influences. The global economy, as well as many smaller economies such as the
Canadian, and American economies are influenced by globalization so heavily, it is a part of the
citizen s everyday lives. The average citizen as well as myself has globalization as an integral
and intimate part of our lives. Even if, we are unaware of it. In my own personal life, when I buy
a suit for a cousin s wedding, or a an occasion for the people who are closest to me. When I need
to dress up, I typically go out and buy a suit, shirt, shoes, socks, tie, and a belt and this is typical
for most citizens as well. All of these components have aspects of globalization tied directly in with
them. Not only is globalization part of the important intimate occasions, it is also part of the citizen
s everyday lives.

Japan And Its Effects On Japan
Japan unlike many other countries has thrived on globalization. Japanese companies have
investments all over the world, Japan exports modern technology such as new and innovative
vehicles, and Japan s people tourist in many iconic places outside of their country. But at the same
time, globalization is hurting Japan. Globalization in Japan has led the country into issues with
pollution. An overflow of waste incinerationsites and construction, and also the butchery of
Whales. These matters have steered Japan into harming its environment. Japan owns 70% of the
world s waste incinerators which come with the main benefit of being able to burn garbage
instead of having it piled up in dumps. With this intention, it poses threats to anybody nearby the
facilities because they re so many. Additionally, Japan has only given the public very vague or
unsatisfactory reasons for their slaughter of Whales such as using very broad terms like science
and ineffectual arguments like tradition. This killing is putting the Whales species in very dire
danger. Not to mention that the vast amount of construction taking place in Japan in years could
lead the way to deforestation if it hasn t already. At the same time, Japan has its reasons for using
so many waste incinerators, massacring Whales, and to assemble buildings over and over so much.
Waste incinerators provide hot water, electricity, and material for construction. As stated already,
the Japanese government claims they re whaling for

A minimum increase in profits of $972,000 ($1,852,000 less $880,000) would largely have to be
traceable to the new product. This represents a profit margin of approximately 23% based on sales

attainable. Perhaps you should advise your client to propose a revised profit agreement that does
not risk previous levels of profit participation to such an extent.

Mind Control Is the Foundation of Cults Essay
Mind Control is the Foundation of Cults
What are cults and what are the issues society argues about them? Many people argue over all
different central issues of cults. One issue people argue is that cults cause social and personal
disruption. Another issue would be that people in society dismiss the whole notion of cults
completely saying that every religion can be viewed as a cult. However, when it comes down to it
a cult is simply nothing other than a person using mind control over the people that are part of it.
The definition of a cult sometimes seems to vary but for the most part has a central theme. A cult
is essentially a form of a religious group that follows an individual. It can be easily identified
because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mind control does not imply that the group or individual has no ability to think for themselves.
They still have their own free choice. The choice the people make to let a person or leader
control them is because of their own impaired judgment or ability to see this happening (Paul 31).
It works by the gradual increasing of control over the group or individual through techniques.
Some of the techniques include repetition of activities or food and sleep deprivation. Since this is
gradual the people do not see that it is mind control until they are in too deep (Martin 21).
The central issue or theme of cults today is that it uses mind control over the group or individual.
By using mind control as its central theme, the leader uses certain methods to go by. There is first
something called milieu control, which means environment or surroundings. They are able to
control this with the members in many ways. The most used form is isolation. Members of a cult
separates themselves from society, family, and media such as television or books in fear that this
might cause the members to start thinking for themselves. The cult keeps information on each one
of its members watching to see who falls behind or gets too far ahead of thinking for the group
(Ragas 8). They also use mystical manipulation. In the cults, their supreme being is present in the
group. Therefore, if an individual

Archduke Marcz Ferdinand Research Paper
No other political murder in modern history has had such momentous consequences as the
assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was the heir to the Habsburg empire, and the
first to fall victim to political homicide. Unlike some constitutional monarchies in Western Europe,
the Habsburgs had failed to modernize their multinational state. They used force to defend their
institutions, and they were faced with a mass of revolutionary movements in Italy and Hungary.
Although the Sarajevoassassins were Bosnians and thus Austro Hungarian citizens, and although
they had plotted against the Habsburg dignitaries for years, three leading members of the
conspiracy, Princip, Cabrinovic, and Grebez, came to Sarajevo from Belgrade.

Macbeth Is a Villain in Whom There Is Little to Admire ....
Macbeth is not a villain in whom there is little to admire; he in fact, contains many characteristics
that responders would look up to and to some extent, respect. Bravery and courage is shown with
Macbeth throughout the play which causes us to admire him. What ultimately had caused Macbeth
s rise and downfall is what the witches had dishonesty masqueraded, and thus Macbeths character
flaw had provoked the events happening. Moreover, although Macbeth had committed many awful
and unforgivable deeds, within him, is the guilt and remorse for those people who were his victims.

Having at least considered that, Macbeth shows an admirable feature; he knows that it isn t right
and is something which he shouldn t be even thinking about. Macbeth also considers that King
Duncan is at his house in double trust. Firstly because I am his kinsman and his subject, Strong
both against the deed; (Lines 13 14) and secondly because then, as his host, who should against
his murderer shut the door, Not bear the knife myself (Lines 14 16). Macbeth s aspiration of
being king is great, yet he does consider the reasons why he should leave things as it is, and this
causes us to admire Macbeth and his reasoning because we know how much Macbeth had wanted
to be king, yet he decided to not go ahead.
Additionally King Duncan has been a good King that is well liked by everyone, and Macbeth
knows this his virtues Will plead like angels trumpet tongu d against The deep damnation of his
taking off; (Line 18 20). Furthermore, Macbeth argues that he has no reason to kill his king but to
satisfy his ambition. Hence, he knows that the reasons against killing Duncan are greater than his
reasons for. This was why Macbeth had settled with the conclusion of not killing Duncan, We will
proceed no further in this business (Line 33) and showed loyalty to his king (before Lady Macbeth

To What Extent Did The British Colonies Acquired Self Rule
Maria Buck 06/26/2015 Instructor: Brett Williamson Class: U.S. History to 1877
(HIS151P01P10615) British colonies acquired self rule from the beginning starting with the
Puritans. Spanish colonies were suppressed by the Catholic Church and they instituted slavery.
Colonist settled British North American for many reasons. Some traveled for profits; others came
to venturing or in investment of stock companies. But, the reason for coming are the type of
colony, when the colony and when the English settler arrived they came in encountered with the
natives population, Spanish and the French settlements. African slavery changed the new worlds
demographic in the early 1600 s. During the late seventeenth century, religion gave the Puritans the
opportunity to begin a new life, achieve social class, gain respect in the colonies, and have
individual morality. Others came to America for religious freedom, but most came for simple
economic reasons. In America there was land to be had and fortunes to be made. The colonists

Beginning in 1651, the English government from time to time passed laws regulating certain
aspects of the commercial and general economic life of the colonies. Some of these were beneficial

that were most detrimental. The British occasionally aroused themselves and tried to secure better
enforcement, but efforts along these lines were invariably short lived, the authorities quickly falling

  • 2. Network Security Threats for ASDI New and Rapidly Advancing Threats One of the biggest threats to network security in 2014 is the end of support for the Windows XP operating system (OS). On April 8th 2014, Microsoft will discontinue support for the aging OS. What this means for users of Windows XP is that as new vulnerabilities and exploits are discovered, they will not be fixed the vulnerabilities will only continue to grow. For any business environment that is still using Windows XPbeyond April 8th, the machines running the OS will become the organization s biggest securityflaw. It is highly likely that hackers are holding back on using known zero day exploits for Windows XP until after April 8th because they know that beyond that date, the exploit will not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An exploit kit such as Blackhole can pose a threat to ASDI in two ways. The first threat is to the one hundred workstations. These workstations could potentially fall victim to a driveby download if they are used to visit a compromised website. The other way ASDI could be harmed by an exploit kit is if one or both of its web servers become compromised, and an exploit kit is installed, the servers would then install malicious software on the company s customer s computers when they visit the site. Countermeasures and Prevention In order to ensure that ASDI s network is as secure as it can be, it is important to ensure that the logical structure is appropriate to facilitate a secure network. The company s two web servers need to be sectioned off from the internal subnets. This is best accomplished through the use of a demilitarized zone (DMZ), which places a firewall between the web servers and the intranet, and another firewall between the web servers and the Internet. If the outer firewall is breached, the web servers may become compromised, but the intranet would still be protected by an additional firewall. The student workstations should reside on a student subnet which has no connectivity to the employee subnet. The employee and student subnets will each have a file server connected, and the company s email server will be connected to the employee subnet. There are already two WiFi access points (AP) at ASDI one will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The United States Prison Population The United States prison population has grown tremendously from approximately 500,000 to 2.3 million people in just three decades. We (U.S) spend almost $70 billion annually to place adults in prison and jails, to confine youth in detention centers, and to supervise 7.3 million individuals on probation and parole. California has the largest prisonpopulation in the country, with more than 170,000 individuals behind bars. In Los Angeles, more than half of current parolees live in neighborhoods that are home to less than 20 percent of the city s adult residents. More than a billion dollars are spent every year to incarcerate people from these communities. At the same time, as of spring 2010, the Los Angeles Unified School District was projecting a deficit of $640 million in the 2010 11 academic year. As a result, district officials were planning to raise class sizes and lay off thousands of teachers and other school based staff. 40% of students expelled from schools each year are black. 70% of students are involved in in school arrest. 2 x black and latino students are twice as likely to not graduate than white students 68% of all males in federal prison do not have a high school diploma The yearly cost to incarcerate one child is $88,000 and the yearly cost of public education for one child is $10,600 The school to prison pipeline is exactly how it sounds it is a system that pushes students out of classrooms and into jail. • 4. What Psychological Information Is Available From The Early... Recognizing a face is a starting point when interacting socially, as it is the most important stimuli we see. The face portrays information about a person s identity, their emotional state and where they are directing their visual attention. To be able to process this information within a very short space of time is crucial in social interactions and probably dates back to our ancestor s survival. The human brainis very adept in processing an abundance of information in a simple yet effortless way. These processes require such specific brain areas to do this. This essay is going to discuss what psychological information is available from the early stages of face processing. The essay will discuss the neuroscience and the regions of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When humans cognitively process faces this involves either holistic processing or configural processing. There is evidence that the processing of faces is done much more holistically than with objects as this comes from studies of inversion (Yin, 1969). An inverted face impairs the recognition and is much more difficult to encode than with other objects and this could be due to the spatial relations. In facial recognition a face model was created by Bruce and Young in 1986 and is one of the most influential face models to be created and is still used. It comprises of eight components: structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis, directed visual processing, face recognition nodes, person identity nodes, name generation and cognitive system. According to their face recognition model various types of information are acquired from faces. When recognising a familiar face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, face recognition units, person identity nodes and name generation. In comparison with an unfamiliar face, the components used depend largely on structural encoding, expression analysis, facial speech analysis and directed visual processing. However, as the face model created by Bruce and Young (1986) was quite complex, a simpler version was created by Duchaine and Nakayama (2006) which provided four stages: face detection, structural encoding, face memory and emotion/gender etc. It is undeniable ... • 5. The USould Adopt The Metric System The US should adopt the metric system. The US is one of three countries that still use the imperial system. Everybody else uses the metric system. We need to change to the metric system because of two factors, social and economic. There are many reasons why we need to change. Some of the reasons are conversion errors. Another reason is the metric systemis easier to use. Though the metric system and the imperial system are quite different. The Imperial system use feet, inches, and pounds. The metric system use meters and grams and then it also adds prefixes. To be in more depth, foot is the unit of length, pound is the unit of weights, and seconds are the unit of time, for the Imperial system. For the metric system, meter is the basic unit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a lot of conversion errors because we use a different measurement system. For example, in 1999 NASA s Mars Orbiter spacecraft crash, costing them $125 million dollars. The project has been already $327.6 million. It should of been 140 150 km above Mars, but instead it was 57km above. Being so close to Mars s surface cause it to crash. This happened because one team of engineers used the imperial system and everybody else used the metric system. This supports my reason, because of one team using a different measurement system cost them millions of dollars. Another example is Tokyo Disney Space mountain. It shut down because an axle on it snapped. The bolt that was delivered was 31.75 millimeters, which was 19.25 millimeters too small. That happened because of a conversion error. This supports my reason because we used a different system they got the wrong sized bolt. My final reason is a passenger plane ran out of fuel about halfway to their destination. The fuel loading was miscalculated. There was 7,682 liters in the tank and they needed 22,300 kilograms. They added 4,916 liters and they needed 20,088 liters. This supports my reason, because they miscalculated they ran out of fuel. That s my main examples for the social factor. The social factor is not the only factor. Another main factor for the US to change to the metric system is economic. It s costing us money for not changing. For example any company that deals outside the US has to deal with conversions between the metric and the imperial systems. Even when they know how to switch the units, they still made errors. Those errors cost them money, and why are these errors happening can be contribute to learning the metric system at an early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Raised in all wars in the world is difficult to understand the roots of conflicts, simplifying, the causes can be psychological, traditional or modern base. History is always present and is used as a motivating force, along with others, in almost every war there are economic reasons as secondary causes. In the Balkan War, it has historically been characterized by its high vulnerability to conflicts of low, medium and high intensity, especially because of the events that took place during this century, which have been decisive and marked conclusively the present conflict . One of the main problems of this war is the ethno nationalism, which has led to the creation of states identified with their national existence, by the refusal of the Political Marxist Leninist, for alternative policies ranging from tolerance to ethnic minorities to debugging, the latter being forced expulsion (minorities) of the disputed regions. Similarly the search for new definitions of Nation in the absence of democratic and cultural traditions in populations of states where ethnic groups are entitled to claim some territory. • 10. Gun Control Laws Should Be Stricter Laws Many people believe there should be stricter gun control laws. By this they mean, regulate the sale, manufacture, possession, transfer, and use of firearms. They believe if the government does not make stricter gun control laws, then gun violence and deaths due to guns will only continue to increase over the years. Although there are many people for guncontrol laws, there are many people who are also against it. Some of the people who are against gun control laws probably will not understand why there should be stricter gun control laws until something happened to them or someone in their family due to a gun crime. The United States did not have the civil authorities as we do today. Americans had to rely on guns to protect themselves as laws evolved. Times were different in America and that is why the Second Amendment was ideal. Guns were not as dangerous then as they are now. Firearms at the time were very slow to load and that is one of the reasons gun control was not a real big issue. Gun control started to become necessary when the rates for accidental deaths and gun violence were continuing to increase. The National Firearms Act was enacted in 1934. The National Firearms Act was not created to make money, but to lower the crime rates and make it impossible for people to buy and sell automatic fire weapons. Today many people hope that gun control laws will get stricter by allowing longer and more background checks that go more in depth. Today the background check is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Theme Of Genesis 12-50 The two major themes of Genesis 12 50 are be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. These two themes are first stated in Genesis 1:28, but recur many times throughout Genesis, especially with Abraham, his son Isaac, and Isaac s son Jacob. One challenge Abraham faces in regards to the blessing of progeny is his wife s, Sarah s, barrenness. This barrenness is a fact of her existence. (Brown, 309) At first Sarah gives Abraham one of her slaves, Hagar, in order for him to have a child. (Gen. 16) This is exploitation, but when Hagar becomes pregnant, it improves her situation from being just a slave, to being protected because she is pregnant. (Weems) Hagar gives birth to Ishmael, Abraham s first born. After this, Godopens Sarah s womb and she is able to have a child, Isaac. (Gen. 21) Sarah then has Ishmael and Hagar sent away because she wants Isaac to receive the full inheritance by himself. But God promises Abraham that a nation will be made from Ishmael as well as Isaac. (Gen. 21) This shows that God favors the oppressed, especially since he takes care of Hagar and Ishmael while they are in the wilderness. (Tamez, 13) By sending Ishmael out into the wilderness to form a nation, it fulfills the fill the earth promise that God made to Abraham. (Sarah Shectman, Abraham s Family , n.p. [cited 12 Nov 2017]. Until Paul s challenge, Jewish Christians believed that non Jews had to convert to Judaism and follow the law, which included restrictions and circumcision. Gentiles who worship in the synagogue but did not become proselytes were called god fearers and were only second class citizens in the synagogue. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki /Circumcision_controversy_in_early_Christianity) As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian Gentiles, believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church fellowship and for the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief, (Galatians 2: 11 14) most strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision by the early Christian leaders to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of Nazareth and to call themselves Christians. Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. • 13. Family Medical Leave Act The Family Medical Leave Act The Family Medical Leave Act was passed in 1993 and updated in 2008 and 2009. The law requires employers with 50 or more employees to allow up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. The provision of the law would allow employees who have worked for one year and have worked at least 1,250 hours to use the unpaid leavefor family or medical reasons (DeCenzo 267). It is important to note that the employee does not have to work for one year of continuous service, any combination of weeks worked that equal to 52 weeks makes and employee eligible for FMLA leave. • 15. A Clockwork Orange Analysis A Clockwork Orange is a film directed by Stanley Kubrick, which explores the examination of the baser human emotions. The movie is set in a not so distant ,dystopian future, where an English society is dominated by an extreme culture of youth violence. The society in the film is one that is seemingly dictated by primal instincts, a society where murder and rape are commonplace and sexuality manages to penetrate the facets of their culture; appearing everyone from clothing to home decor. The story is told by the protagonist, Alex DeLarge. Alex is characterized as a psychopath and a juvenile delinquent that finds pleasure in violence and rape, but at the same time, he is intelligent with a sophisticated taste in art, literature and music, being particularly fond of Beethoven s 9th symphony. Alex undergoes a mental transformation when being a subjective to the Ludovico experiment which alters his disposition towards the immoral pleasure seeking activities that had previously entertained him. Freudian psychoanalytic theory aims to cure mental disorders by investigating the interaction of the conscious and unconscious elements in the mind. This theory is also based upon the specific theories of how the mind, the insitincts and secuality work, (Peter Berry, 92). Freud s conception of the human psyche includes the conscious, the preconscious and the unconscious. The different forms of Alex that we see before and after the Ludovico technique can be understood in the context of the three part structural model of the psyche conceived by Freud. That is, the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is the part of a personality that contains a person s primitive impulses, such as thirst, anger, hunger and the desire for instant gratification and release. Freud believed that the id is based on our pleasure principle, so whatever the id wants at that time to feel good, it will do it, with no regard or consideration for the reality of the situation. According to Freud, the id presents the unconscious, instinctive aspect of the personality that serves to relieve pain and tension through reflec and primary process, (Emmett and Veeder, 231). • 16. Differences Between Arial And Helvetica Super Normal, from a conceptual point of view, leans on an intentional and extraordinary ambivalence (Fukasawa Morrison, 2012, p.1). Specifically, based on the terminology, it could be taken both as an oxymoron that super opposes normal , means beyond ; or a concept of absolute superlative in which the Super Normal determines the superlative of normal to its greatest degree in its ontological form. Although the etymology of what is considered to be normal relates to ordinary with no features, in the context of what Fukusawa and Morrison defined, Super Normal are not normal any more by making them so normal . They both are sans serif typefaces that are universally embraced by different communication platforms. At first glance, they seem very similar. When Arial was released in 1982, it was seen as a copy of Helvetica of 1957. But if designers examine the characters in each typeface closely, the differences between them become apparent. Mark Simonson (2001), an American graphic designer, produced an analysis of this two, showing how much more refined Helvetica is than Arial. The primary difference is Helvetica is vertically cut, while Arial is slightly angled. For instance, the tail of the a is gently curved in Helvetica, as is the first connection of the bowl to the stem, but not in Arial. Similarly, the top of the t and the ends of the strokes in the C and S are perfectly horizontal in the former, but slightly angled in the latter. In My mind, even though the distinguishing details are so tiny that can be noticed when they are scrutinized magnified versions of each character as Simonson did. Yet it is these subtleties that constitute Helvetica a finer example of design than Arial, especially for professionals. • 18. Significance Of Witchcraft Hysteria In The Crucible There are many important contributing factors as to why the witchcraft hysteria gripped Salem, Massachusetts. Whether it would be superstition, religion, economics, politics, or gender, they all played a huge part in this chaotic event. One of them is superstition, the belief in and reverence for supernatural beings, caused everyone in the miniature town of Salem to hang their very own citizens due to young girls pretending that some ladies in town are witches and that they wounded them by using witchery . It all started with a slave named Tituba who worked for Samuel Parris, the local preacher in Salem. One day when the preacher was out and Tituba and Samuel s niece, Abigail Williams and his daughter, Bette Parris were at home. The girls, reading scripture and Tituba, preparing food were having a quiet afternoon when Abigail wanted to get her future told. Tituba, who comes from an island and her background experiences of voodoo, reads the girl s future in the palm of her hand. During this process, Bette gets overwhelmed and ends up acting out in an abnormal way, almost as if her soul left her body. Wanting to share the fascination of what Tituba can do, many of the young girls in Salem gathered in the preacher s house once he is not home. Realizing this power, the girls start imagining occurrences and start blaming innocent town members of performing witchcraft on them. The main reason for this is that the Internet was not designed for such a medium. The Internet was designed to provide redundant points of communication, not to provide high speed arcade action (Bates, Lag and the Game Reviewers 175). A few technological barriers stand in the way of a vision of ideal multi player gaming over the Internet. The most significant of these technological problems are the problems of latency and reliability. Internet latency is inevitable data transfer delays that create lag in games, keeping an online game from running smoothly. Some also feel that because of this lag, true interactive gaming will never be possible over the Internet. Bandwidth issues are also a problem. Receiving data is difficult over the Internet, particularly collecting data from several players in a multi player game. Another problem that online gamers face is finding people to play with online. Dedicated game server sites have helped answer this problem. MPath, TEN, and BattleNet are some such game systems whose principal mission is match making. • 33. The Causes Of President Richard Nixon And The Watergate... The Watergate Scandal During the early 1970 s, a scandal took place at the hands of former president, Richard Nixon. Richard Nixon wanted to ensure that he got the chance to get reelected. He took extreme measures to do so, one of those extreme measures included espionage. On June 17, 1972, five burglars were taken down to the police station after breaking into the Watergate complex buildings in Washington, D.C. The five burglars; James McCord, Virgilio Gonzalez, Frank Sturgis, Eugenio Martinez, and Bernard Baker. These five men broke into Headquarters for the Democratic National Committee, which was located in the Watergate hotel. This triggered the entire scandal and eventually led to Nixon s demise. The prowlers were connected to President Richard Nixon s reelection campaign, and they had been caught wiretapping phones and stealing documents. Nixon took aggressive steps to cover up the crime afterwards, and in August 1974, after his role in the conspiracy was revealed, Nixon resigned. The Watergate scandalchanged American politics forever, leading many Americans to question their leaders and think more critically about the presidency. (insert citation) A forceful presidential campaign therefore seemed essential to the president and some of his key advisers. Their aggressive tactics included what turned out to be illegal espionage. Lucentio is hit by love for Bianca at first sight, says that he will die if he cannot win her heart, and subsequently puts into motion a romantic and fanciful plan to do so. Whereas love in the play is often mitigated by economic and social concerns. The difference between Lucentio and Petruchio discriminates The Taming of the Shrew from other Elizabethan plays. Through Lucentio and Bianca, the play looks beyond the moment when the quixotic lovers are wed and represents the penalties of the costumes and stratagems they have attractively employed to expedite their romance. Once the practical business of being married begins, Lucentio s fixation with courtly love seems somewhat old fashioned and ludicrous. In the end, it is Petruchio s disturbing, colorful uncomplicatedness that harvests a happy and functioning marriage, and Lucentio s poeticized instincts leave him humiliated when Bianca refuses to answer his summons. I will show strengths and weaknesses in both theories. I will use a collection of source literature to back up and correlate this information. Attachment, according to Emde (1982) is a deep and enduring emotional bond that connects one person to another, across time and space. John Bowlby, and Evolutionist, believed that attachment was pre programmed. In order for us to survive as a species, we needed to attach to a significant other; that its innate in us to single out a few specific individuals around us and attach to them, an so providing a survival advantage. Bowlby rationalised that the attachment between a mother and infant was unlike any other bond; very unlike the bond an infant would develop with another human. He coined it Monotrophy . Bowlby believed that babes had have built in social releasers that help form attachment, for example, crying and smiling. These would stimulate responses in caregivers. Bowlby also suggested that the infant would form only one primary attachment, and that this attachment would act as a secure base for exploring the world. This theory was also backed up by Mary Ainsworth The Strange Situation , Eysenck (2000). Another conclusion in Bowlbys attachment theory was that there was a sensitive period; a period were imprinting was important. This would affect attachment and have lifelong consequences. He ... • 41. Work-Family Balance Work Family Balance Contemporary gender role attitudes have changed partly as a response to the steady increase in women s participation in the labor force. Although this increase was especially evident in the 1970s and 1980s, as was the move toward more egalitarian attitudes, it continued in the 1990s through the present. College educated men and women are less likely to hold traditional ideas about gender, work and family roles. Within the family, attitudes toward gender roles have become more liberal, moving in the direction of sharing of housework and childcare. (Cohen, Devault Strong, 2011). An ideal for modern family is to share wage earning and family responsibilities in equal basis (Lamanna, Riedman and Strahm, 2012). Giraffe (2011) stated that individuals manage the competing demands of work and personal lives, the need for lifelong learning, and the responsibilities of parenting are real issues for today s workforce. Social institutions such as marriage and childrearing have changed, leading to more single mothers, evolving roles for women in the workplace, and more men in new roles at home. Longer life expectancy and later childbearing age have created the sandwich generation of middle aged adult workers, who simultaneously provide care for their children and their senior family members. Many people argue over all different central issues of cults. One issue people argue is that cults cause social and personal disruption. However, when it comes down to it a cult is simply nothing other than a person using mind control over the people that are part of it. They still have their own free choice. The choice the people make to let a person or leader control them is because of their own impaired judgment or ability to see this happening (Paul 31). It works by the gradual increasing of control over the group or individual through techniques. Some of the techniques include repetition of activities or food and sleep deprivation. Since this is gradual the people do not see that it is mind control until they are in too deep (Martin 21). The central issue or theme of cults today is that it uses mind control over the group or individual. By using mind control as its central theme, the leader uses certain methods to go by. There is first something called milieu control, which means environment or surroundings. They are able to control this with the members in many ways. The most used form is isolation. Members of a cult separates themselves from society, family, and media such as television or books in fear that this might cause the members to start thinking for themselves.
