Induction By David Hume
Induction is a form of reasoning in which the premises of an argument support the conclusion,
David Hume (1711 1776), in his book A Treatise of Human Nature of induction, wrote; instances
of which we have had no experience resemble those of which we have had experience (pp. 89) [1].
Adamson (1999) wrote that evidence shows that induction was first scrutinised in the late 17th and
early 18th century, when contemporary views of the world were questioned, near the end of the
scientific revolution [2]. Chalmers (1999), continues, stating that the recognition of the problem of
induction was the starting point for a sceptical attack of a large domain of accepted beliefs and
opinions that are ordinarily taken to be knowledge , showing the impact philosophical questioning
had on a diverse range of belief systems [3]. David Hume is recognised as one of the first
philosophers to question the validity of induction, and the father of The Problem of Induction , a
lasting philosophical question. He began by doubting the ability and validity of a posteriori
knowledge to demonstrate causality. Hume speculated whether induction provides reliable
evidence, and whether it is rational for us to believe inductive knowledge if the basis is not
objective, and whether we can rationally justify beliefs that stem from the unobserved (Hume, pp.
193 4) [4], a rational being would not trust conclusions drawn from the uncertain. Hume
acknowledges that humans instinctively use induction, through

The Crow And The Pitcher Essay
Life Lessons for Today s Teens The Crow and the Pitcher By Evan Graff Aesop was a Greek
storyteller, credited with the writing of several short stories. These stories were put together in
a book and are known as Aesop s fables. This particular story is based on a thirsty crow and a
pitcher. The Crow the Pitcher In a spell of dry weather, when the Birds could find very little to
drink, a thirsty Crow found a pitcher with a little water in it. But the pitcher was high and had a
narrow neck, and no matter how he tried, the Crow could not reach the water. The poor thing felt
as if he must die of thirst. Then an idea came to him. Picking up some small pebbles, he dropped
them into the pitcher one by one. With each pebble the water rose a little higher until at last it was

He then later dropped out of high school to pursue his dreams and move to Los Angeles. He
looked for performance opportunities and then found a couple that were ok. He was not in
anything big until 1990 when he starred in the comedy show In Living Color. This show was a
predominantly Black show with just a handful of white people. This show gave him the
character Fire Marshall Bill, which showed his craziness and flexibility. Later then he starred in
his own movie, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. This movie was the first to many of his famous ones,
such as Dumb and Dumber, Batman Forever, The Cable Guy, and How the Grinch Stole
Christmas. His life started out very tough, but through determination he made all of his dreams
come true. Jim Carrey once said, It s better to risk starving to death then surrender. If you give up
on your dreams, what s left? He meant that no matter the cost follow your dreams and stay
determined. Linda Poindexter states it a little differently, she said, One small crack does not mean
you are broken. It means you were put to the test and you didn t fall

Politics And The Effect In George Orwell s Writing
Politics and the effect in writing
Orwell s statement that language becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish,
but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish, but the slovenliness of
our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts in fact is true in our language in more
recent times because of various uses such as propaganda and other techniques such as glittering
generalities, transfer, card stacking, the band wagon. Although these effect writing and one s
opinions, other powerful technique authors may use in writing include effective word choice and
text along with photographs in political cartoons. Through today s language, once politics are
involved, one tends to become ugly and even foolish at times.
How does one detect propaganda? Although this question is complex, and difficult to end at one
conclusion, there are ways that a reader can indeed detect propaganda. Many of today s authors
often try and influence what the reader is reading and in many cases in a political way. We are
fooled by propaganda chiefly because we don t recognize it when we see it ( How to Detect 756).
In addition, this technique can be used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be defined as a device in which the propagandist employs all the arts of deception to win
our support for himself, his group, nation, race, policy, practice, belief, or ideal ( How to Detect
758). This is an example of how when in context of politics are thoughts can be seen as ugly and
foolish. Instead of speaking the truth, the speaker may decide to discuss what the people want to
hear in order to gain support because one major part of politics is having support. Because of this
politicians can be seen as sneaky and contaminated because they will do everything they can to
win. Hence the reason many individuals have a lack of trust for

Black Communities During The 1960 s
During the 1960 s, there were important events, actions, and organizations that changed the black
communities lives. The 1960 s are an important time period because of the Civil Rights
Movement. During that time period, the black community s were able to vote (Voting Rights of
1965) and the Civil Rights Act of 1968. Between 1965 and 1968, the Black Panthers Party was
created. Huey Newton and Bobby Sealecreated the Black Panther Partyin Oakland, California in
1966. The Black Panther Party was original called, The Black Panther Party for Self Defense ;
they implemented Malcolm X philosophy of self defense because during the time The Black
Panthers were created there were high rates of police brutality towards the black community,
which meant that Black people were being killed at random with no reason. Before The Black
Panther Party had a name, Newton and Seale created the Ten Point Program, which explained what
they wanted, and what they believed in. Newton and Seale both knew that they could not present
their Ten Point Program without a name and they came up with the Black Panther Party (B.P.P).
The Ten Point Program consists of ten points which are Freedom, Full employment, an end of
robbery by the white man of the black community, decent housing, Education which teaches black
history, black men to be excepted from military service, stop the murder of black people, wanting
all black men to immediately release from all federal jails and penitentiaries, fair trail, and

All the entrees came just as we finished the wings and calamari. We had encountered difficulty
finishing the Caesar Salad. The combination of pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, onions, green
peppers , black olives, ham and mozzarella complimented each other as the flavors and remnants
oozed out of the fresh dough. The red sauce that accompanied the Calzone had an extra hint of
garlic which is the aroma that is used in many of the dishes that came past our table. It was very
hard concentrating on what we order when all the dishes that came past us smelled and looked
so good. Dessert: Tiramisu and Double Chocolate Mousse Cake called from the menu. Since the
meal was so filling, we took our dessert home. The next morning the tiramisu was just as I
expected with the right amount of liqueur. My taste buds were not disappointed and although it
was not intended for breakfast, I was completely satisfied with my choice of desserts. They are a

Executive Director Of The Harvard Business School...
According to Christina L. Darwall, executive director of the Harvard Business School California
Research Center, Built to flip is an essential element of competing in the new economy,
successful businesses are necessarily to be short in time. (Palowski, 2000) In the 21st century,
there is a rising impatience within the economy. Investors are no longer interested in long term
and sustaining companies, but most of the businesses are aiming to do quickly and get acquired
within a short period, which are the Build to flip companies. (Collin, 2000; p. 1) Under the
culture of entitlement, managers now see themselves are entitled to make money, and in a case
that The faster I go, the faster I feel I need to go . (Thrift, 2000; p. 26) As well as the rapid growth
of consumer demand, leads to the massive expansion in customer service entitlements. (2014,
Lecture 4; p. 8) This is an unquestionable sign of a boom in decay. (Thrift, 2000; p. 26) In addition,
impermanence is a feature in different phenomenon, and everything will come to the stage of
deterioration. (Zsolnai, 2014; p. 63) If it was permanent in everything, we do not have to make
choices, judgments, responsibilities and entitlements. (2014, Lecture 9; p. 1) Yet, the successes of
mass production and consumption in the new economy seem cause us entirely forgot to notify
finitude and limits of the whole world. This problem would be a threat in our future and the next
generation.

The Seven Dispensations In The Bible
The seven dispensations are not explicitly stated in the Bible. Instead they are a Biblical
interpretation that divides the history of mankind into seven different categories. There are
different versions or interpretations of the seven dispensations, but I will explain the general
understanding that is commonly accepted. The seven dispensations are: the dispensation of
innocence, the dispensation of conscience, the dispensation of human government, the dispensation
of promise, the dispensation of law, the dispensation of grace, and the millennial kingdom of
Christ. The first dispensation, innocence, begins with the creation of man (Genesis 1:27) and ends
with the fall of man (Genesis 3). This dispensation is called innocence because Adam, the first
man, was created innocent and without knowledge of good and evil. Adam was given the authority
to rule over everything of the earth, under one condition: Adam and Eve must not eat from the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The time period of this dispensation is 1,000 years. The responsibilities of the resurrected Old
Testament saints, glorified church, and survivors of the tribulation will be to remain obedient,
remain unified, and continue worshiping Jesus. (The Seven Dispensations) There will be
peace, justice, unity, abundance, healing, righteousness, and joy during the 1,000 year reign of
Jesus on earth and satan will be locked up in the abyss unable to escape. (The Seven
Dispensations) After the 1,000 year reign is over satan will be let out one last time to tempt
Jesus s believers. The followers of satan and satan himself will be defeated once and for all and they
will all be cast into the lake of fire. The people who are found unrighteous by Jesus on the Great
White Throne will also be cast into the lake of fire. After these things people will live and know God

Comparison Of Authority Figures In Romeo And Juliet And...
Comparison of Authority Figures in Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare in Love Stoppard s
satirical movie, Shakespeare in Love, is a play on Shakespeare s tragic love story, Romeo and
Juliet. Stoppard places Shakespeare himself into a relationship with Viola De Lesseps, that
resembles the relationship between Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard incorporates countless parallels
into the film from Shakespeare s love story, including the character development of major
authority figures. The prince and the queen, Capulet and Viola s father, and the Friar and the
Priest are all figures of authority and parallel between the two works; Stoppard gave his cast
similarities to Shakespeare s characters, but they also varied in some aspects. Stoppard s decision
to both keep some and change some character attributes of these authority figures helps contribute
and develop the ending of the movie, just as Shakespeare s character developments contributed to
the outcome of his plays. In Romeo and Juliet, the supreme authority is the Prince; he is the
governing individual in Verona, Italy where the setting takes place, just as Queen Elizabeth is
shown as the highest authority in England in Shakespeare in Love. One key difference between
these leaders in the stories is that the Prince is mostly concerned with keeping the peace, while
the Queen also appreciates and respects Viola s risk and is excited by Viola and her relationship
with Shakespeare. The Queen is exhilarated by the whole ordeal. She

Momentary Weakness In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
Everyone has moments of weakness and indulgence in their lives, but not everyone s momentary
weakness lead to their spouse s death. This is, however, what happens to Ann, a farmer s wife, in
Sinclair Ross short story, The Painted Door . She feels as though she and her husband are
emotionally isolated. That growing malcontent is what gave Ann that push to sleep with Steven, a
man whom her husband, John, trusts profoundly. After sleeping together, Ann awakens in a dream
like haze and sees John, who would do anything for his wife. John then kills himself thinking that
Ann wants a life with Steven, ironically after Ann has slept with Steven, she realises that she loves
John and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. All that proves to... Show more content on

Ross first described the drifts of snow with having swift and snakelike...tongues , (53) which
would imply that the snow is evil, and not something that is wanted. Meanwhile, the fire is
warming and inviting, denoting that the fire is good and seen as necessary. The two different
elements can be seen as her feelings for both John and Steven, the fire being Steven and the
storm being John. Steven would be the fire because it is there, but burns and leaves quickly: [i]t
was good of you to come, Steven . (58) This showing that though Steven is at Ann s house, he will
only be there momentarily, Steven is just a fling, he will burn out and leave Ann. John is the storm
and cold, because no matter where she goes, it is always there. It shows that John wants to be with
Ann forever, the storm is described as being boring and intense, which is how Ann describes John.
Though John is boring, his love for Ann burns very intensely, even if she cannot see it herself.
After Ann sleeps with John the fire and cold switch meanings. As Ann awakens in a dream like
state to see John looking over her and Steven, the fire is described as the snow was before: [t]he
whips of fire still flicked and coiled, but now suddenly they were the swift little snakes that this
afternoon she had watched twist and shiver across the snow. (63) This shows that Ann starts to
regret her decision, and that she only wants to be with John: [f]or tonight, slowly and contritely
through the days and years to come, she would make amends [with John]. (67) Ann did no longer
wants to be warmed by the fire, because it reminds her of what she has done and shone a light to
reveal the knowledge she would try to forget, and move past with John by her side. Ironically, she
realises that John is what she truly wants, and that he will be the one she spends the rest of her life
with; though, unbeknownst to her John is already dead.

Monsanto Company is a large multinational agricultural conglomerate that supplies genetically
engineered products to the market. The enormity of its financial muscle makes it a strong market
force. The company has been engaging in unscrupulous activities while receiving protection from
the government and other government agencies in its undertakings. This analysis utilizes a
heuristic approach to dissect the Monsantos relationship and performance in the market amidst
ethical, social and legal odds.

These appointments have made it possible for Monsanto Company to impose influence in the
government and related regulatory agencies. For instance, when Obama entered into office,
investigations were launched on the operations of Monsanto Company but were later terminated
without any tangible reason given to members of the public.
When questioned about their business and operations, the President of Monsanto Company noted
that their work is to make money while the work of the FDA was to ensure that products from
individual companies were safe for public consumption (). This shows a substantial level of
impunity and disregard of quality and safe productions.
Monsanto and Small Farmers Dairy
Small farmers have been at a loss with regard to farm produce. Small farmers have been subjected
to innumerable law suits by the Monsanto Company since it has the financial muscle to marshal
support from legal experts. In one weird case hearing, Monsanto Company stated that pollens from
small farmers were contaminating the company s produce leading to cross pollination. This resulted
in impure seeds that were less than perfect when subjected to harsh products like the company s
RoundupВ® pesticide.
Small farmers have been forced to have at least 70 % of their farm products from Monsanto
Company. Farmers that did not adhere to this ideation were segregated and their products lacked
market as the company flooded local markets with similar products. These farmers ended

American Politics Vs. The Netflix Series House Of Cards
Provisional Title
A Case Study on American politics portrayed in House of Cards and its correlation to the current
political climate
1 Introduction
The American Netflix series House of Cards is a political drama that follows Frank Underwood
(Kevin Spacey) rising through the ranks from Democratic Majority Whip in the House of
Representatives to Vice President and later President of the United Statesby achieving his political
power through manipulation and ruthless pragmatism with the aid of his wife Claire Underwood
(Robin Wright).
Along with its fictional and hyperbolic representation of Washington DC and its controversial
political visions, House of Cards takes on various current real life debates of American politics in a
satirical and often cynical way.
1.1The research problem
This case study will examine American politics portrayed in the Netflix series House of Cards to
find out how the depicted political themes and the use of satire relate to the current political
environment in the United States in order to find similarities to real world politics and determine
what is fact and what is fiction in the series.
The cross sectional research that will be undertaken will employ the use of a qualitative research
design. The first phase of data collection will examine the use of political satire and analyse the
various political themes portrayed in the series House of Cards. Semi structured expert interviews
will focus in the second phase on relating the themes and

Lester B. Pearson and the Suez Canal Crisis
The Suez crisis was a conflict that could have easily turned into a third World War. With a battle
between the Israelis and Egyptians at Sinai, the British and French invasion of Egypt, and nuclear
threats from the Soviet Union, all of the elements were present to escalate the conflict and pull
other countries into the fray. Canada had no direct ties to the Suez crisis, in terms of control or
economic interest. However, Canadian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Lester B. Pearson,
persuaded the UN General Assembly to send in the United Nations Emergency Force. Even though

The Israeli advance towards the canal is a fake to show the world that Egypt in danger of being
overthrown by the Israelis. The British and French then dissimulate as peacekeepers, trying to
diffuse then tension between Egypt and Israel. They offer Nasser an ultimatum: Israel and Egypt are
to cease fighting or the two Western powers will intervene . On the 31st of October this ultimatum
expires and France and Britain attack, bombing Alexandria and sending in thousands of troops.
Russia then threatens Britain and France with Nuclear weapons. At this point it looks as though the
world is on the brink of another World War.
Canada had no interest to the Suez crisis, in terms of control, economic or military interest, but
Lester B. Pearson saw an opportunity to intervene. While the Cabinet in Ottawa debated about the
attack on Egypt, the UN Security Council met in New York. Even though Canada did not have a
permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, Lester B. Pearson and the Foreign
Affairs delegation of Canada worked towards building an agreement for the proposal to the UN,
on the Suez Crisis. Encouraged by the US, Yugoslavia makes a Uniting for Peace resolution ,
which enables a debate to be moved to the General Assembly. The UK and France do not block
this, however, negative votes would not constitute a veto. The Suez Canal

A Lot Of People See Gun Control In Every Way, Shape And
A lot of people see gun control in every way, shape and form as taking a bit of our freedom away.
Others do not have an issue with gun control. Gun control is an issue of safety, education, race,
and politics. Most gun owning Americans believe that just because certain people do not know
how to use their freedom of having control over their own guns does not mean everyone else
should have their freedom of gun control and ownership taken away by liberal politicians, most
who have not even owned or shot a gun in their whole entire life. The Second Amendment of the

Therefore, when a person is going to commit a crime upon someone they might think twice
about what they are going to do, because they have no idea if that person is carrying a gun or
not. The United States has become very restrictive when granting a person to own guns. Certain
states have come up with the Shall Issue law, which prevents anyone to own, or carry firearms if
that person has a criminal record with a felony or has a mental disorder. Many states even require a
permit to carry a concealed gun in public.
Most people learn about responsibility during their childhood and what they learn reflects what
they do and how they act when they get older and become adults. Children that live in a good
household tend to have better understandings of life and respect other people and their lives.
Children would also have a better idea of recreation, for example hunting, and for a mean of
protection from criminals. On the other hand, the children who grow up in problematic homes and
that have uncaring parents, who are usually criminals themselves, tend to turn to crime. They are
just doing what they believe is right, since that is how they were raised. So, we need to educate
children about the potential dangers of firearms if they are not respected and treated with care.
Most Americans who believe that more guns equal more crime are afraid of the people who carry
guns in public places, open

Myth And The Myth Of Myth
What is Myth before we begin our long discussion about the changes and how it reflect our
society, one should first know the meaning of it? Myth is something that may be true or not true.
It is hard to explain at one go, we have many historians in the world who always try to break the
myth and tell the world that those are not just myth they are reality and they effect to our social
system in many ways. There are always hidden messages in each and every myth that we have
known till now in our life. According to Claude Levie Strauss Mythical stories follow templates,
but they are certainly not stable or concert. Myth is connected with the rituals and some believe
that in the ancient times rituals were the main aspect by which a person can like himself with the
divine god, it was like a path way to a different dimension. According to historian s myth are
considered as stories or event which happened in the past, some believe that these myth also have
strong symbolic meaning in many culture, or they have changed with the passage of time. I want to
talk about the Myth and the social message that was there in Herculesstory because it fascinates me
lot, as he was considered to be the strongest man alive at that time according to myths. I want to

Butch Cassidy Research Paper
Butch Cassidy and his members of the Wild Bunch left a remarkable chapter in the history of old
American West. Interestingly, Butch was no mean robber, but someone full of charm. The story of
the group was made more interesting with the addition of Butch s constant partner in crime,
Sundance Kid.
Originally named Robert LeRoy, Butch changed his name after working with Mike Cassidy, an
infamous cattle and horse rustler. The name Butch was taken from Robert s brief stint as a
butcher in town. He joined Mike in raiding cattle in Colorado and Utah. It was also Mike who
taught the young Butch on how to shoot dead center within fifty paces. During this time, Mike was
the leader of a small band of rustlers and robbers. However, he suddenly disappeared ... Show more

On August 1896, the Wild Bunch robbed a bank in Montpelier Idaho took off with $7000. The
succeeding heists included banks and trains in New Mexico, Wyoming, Nevada, and South
Dakota. The group s biggest heist was that of the new Union Pacific Train which took place on
June 1899 in Wilcox, Wyoming. They made off around $30,000. It was followed by another train
robbery in Folsom, New Mexico where it was reported that they took $70,000 with them. Butch
was not part of that robbery and gang members died or were captured.
On August 1900, Butch, Sundance, Carver and Logan robbed another of the Union Pacific trains in
Tipton, Wyoming. Shortly after, they had their next bank heist at the First National Bank of
Winnemucca in Nevada. The group made off $32,640. The next year was also lucrative when they
raided the Great Northern Train in Montana and got $65000.
By the early part of 1901, Butch convinced Sundance Kid to go somewhere safer as they have

moved to New York and further towards Bolivia. Butch and Sundance worked as miners while
continuing their errant ways. Soon, Etta left the two and returned to America, while the duo made

The Coastal Plains Of Texas
The Coastal Plains of Texas is a large area that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to beyond the Rio
Grande. This region can be divided into 5 distinct areas.
PINE BELT:
It extends 75 to 125 miles into Texas from the east and from north to south from the Red River to
about 25 miles of the Gulf Coast. The Pine Belt is practically the source of all Texastimber
production. Lumber is the principle industry. The climate is good for a variety of fruits and
vegetables. A great oil field discovered in 1931 contributed to the economic growth of the area.
BLACKLAND BELT:
This area stretches from the Rio Grande to the Red River. This area runs through the DFW
metropolitan area. This area is also the most populated with the strongest diversified manufacturing
industry of the state.
COASTAL PRAIRIES:
This area extends along the Gulf of Mexico, from the Sabine River to the lower Rio Grande Valley.
Cattle ranching is the largest and strongest agriculture industry. Along with cattle ranching, rice is
also a very strong crop in the agriculture industry. More principle crops include cotton, grains,
vegetables, and citrus fruits.
LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY:
This low valley is also known as The Valley. It has the greatest citrus and winter vegetables in
Texas due to the lack of freezing weather. It is ranked very high among the nation s fruit and truck
farming regions.
RIO GRANDE PLAIN:
This massive plain lies south of San Antonio between the Rio Grande and the Gulf Coast. The

The New Zealand Health Strategy Essay
This essay will define what long term conditions are and how they impact on individuals, families
and the community. It will recognise the social impact in relation to stigmas, the economic impact
in regards to financial concerns or costs overall to the individual, their family and the community,
and the political impact and how legislations and policies are developed to address, prevent and
educate. This essay will examine the New Zealand healthstrategy, the primary health care strategy
and the influence these strategies have in the allocations of funding and initiatives developed to
support long term conditions. It critically analyses and discusses primary health care and primary
health care nurses, identifying how nurses in these organisations connect and work with patients
and the importance of cultural safety in regards to nursing care and support of patients. Long term
conditions (LTC), or chronic illnesses, are life changing and have a major impact on people s lives.
Long term conditions are illnesses that are lifelong and incurable. People have to learn how to
cope with the diagnosed long term condition, or conditions, as they will continue to progress and
can exacerbate if not well managed. Non communicable diseases (NCSs), also known as chronic
diseases, are not passed from person to person. They are of long duration and generally slow
progression (World health organisation, 2016). This means that long term conditions are not
contagious, however they

Senior Management Commitment
As Harris and Davenport mention in Competing on Analytics , it is extremely necessary for
management to support and commit to integrating analytics in order for a company to become an
analytical competitor. (Davenport and Harris, 2007) Specific to Impax, there has been a lot of
recent change in management and minimal push down to incorporate analytics for better decision
making. While we are capable and do utilize a fair degree of analytics in our day to day operations,
unfortunately, I find its use tends to be more retroactive in nature than proactive.
Large Scale Ambition
I think this idea of large scale ambition is more an area of opportunity for Impax. We tend to use
the more tried and proven analytical techniques found in the pharma industry and lack a clear
strategic focus to take us outside the box into new and unchartered competitive territory. Again, this
is not too far strayed from management s survival approach or our distinct capability to manage
revenue; however, Harris and Davenport mention ambition can present risk, but the scale and scope
of results should be at least large enough to create company fortunes. (Davenport and Harris, 2007)

He fears that we still have judgement here . This suggests that Macbeth is acutely aware of the
potential consequences of the actions that he is deliberating whether to go through with or not. It

earthly consequences that knows will undoubtedly befall him, he would by all means do so

Concussions In The National Football League
From what I ve researched and what I ve experienced, I don t think it s worth the risk ( Chris
Borland ). This quotation from former San Francisco 49er, Chris Borland, exemplifies the concern
for the increase in occurrence of concussions in the National Football League. A concussion is
defined as a type of traumatic brain injurycaused by a blow to the head ( NFL Concussions ). The
debate on who is truly responsible for the injury s increasing presence in the NFL continues to be
disputed in the league today. Whether the blame is to be placed on the administrative personnel of
the league or the players and their actions, change is the one common denominator in the stances
taken by both sides. The National Football Leagueis not doing enough... Show more content on

The fact that a use of a more efficient test for diagnoses of the injury has not been implemented into
the league s concussion protocol provides support for this argument. Improper education of the
true amount of risk involved that will affect a player in the long term displays the carelessness
of the league s front office. Almost every athlete that remains connected to the NFL has a family
that relies on them for income and support. By discerning the safety of its very own employees,
of which the league would cease to exist without, the NFL is putting the lives and welfare of the
players and their families at risk. Money must become a secondary concern when one is dealing
with a person s safety on the football field. The league cannot continue to put the lives of its
employees at risk in order to avoid money loss. The National Football League is not doing enough
to prevent concussions from continually occurring in the league today and a change in policy is
mandatory in order to provide a safe environment for its players. Nothing matters more than a

Applications Of Cnn In Computer Vision Essay
Applications of CNN in Computer Vision
Applications of CNN in Computer Vision Computer vision is a very broad research area which
covers a wide variety of approaches not only to process images but also to understand their contents.
It is an active research field for convolutional neural network applications. The most popular of
these applications include, classification, segmentation, detection and scene understanding. Most
CNN architectures have been used for computer vision problems including, supervised or
unsupervised face/object classification (e.g., to identify an object or a person in a given image or to

1.1. PointNet
PointNet [3] is a new type of neural network which directly consumes point clouds and well respects
the permutation invariance of the points in the input image.
PointNet, shown in Fig. 1, provides a unified architecture for applications ranging from object
classification, and part segmentation, to scene semantic parsing from pointclouds. It directly takes
point clouds as input and outputs either class labels for the entire input, or per point segment labels
for each point of the input. PointNet has three main modules, which we briefly discuss below.
2
1.1.1. Symmetric Function (Max Pooling Layer Module A):
The first key module is the max pooling layer, used as a symmetric function to aggregate
information from all the points, and to make a model invariant to input permutations. To achieve
this, a general function is defined on a point set by applying a symmetric function on the
transformed elements in the set: f(x1, . . . , xn) ≈ g(h(x1), . . . , h(xn)), (1)
In the above equation, f : 2RN в†’ R, h : RN в†’ RK and g : RK Г— В· В· В· Г— RK
в†’R is a symmetric function. h is approximated by a multi layer perceptron (mlp) network and g
by a composition of a single variable function and a max pooling function. Through a collection of

Although this was a problem, it was fairly brief. Since India gained their independence, the
country has faced many problems. These problems include ethnic and religious conflict, poverty
and overpopulation. These problems have been attempted to be solved by the Indian
democracy. For example, The prime minister, Indira Gandhi (1966 77 1980 84) embarked on the
green revolution this increased agricultural yields for India s eight hundred million people. This
solved problems of poverty for a short period of time, this is because India has one of the fastest
growing populations in the world. Gandhi realized this and took stringent action by calling for a

control policies, even involuntary sterilization. Over eight million people were sterilized in an
effort to control the overpopulation problem. This was not the end of India s problems though, in
1980 the religious divide proved to be a deadly one. Gandhi took it upon herself to fix the
problem, ordering the army to attack a sacred temple which harbored Sikh extremists. She did this

Disorders of the lymphatic system
lymphedema is an excess amount of lymphatic fluid in our skin tissue that causes bloating or
swelling in the arms or legs.
Lymphoma is any cancer that originates in the lymphatic system cells, tissue, lymph nodes and
spleen. The lymphomas are divided into two major categories: Hodgkin lymphoma and all other
lymphomas, called non Hodgkin lymphomas.
Networks of lymph vessels, lymphatic tissue, and bean shaped lymph nodes make the lymphatic
system. The lymph vessels collect lymph fluid from the body tissues and transport it to the blood,
maintaining fluid balance in the body. Lymph is filtered through lymph nodes, which are packed
with lymphocyte white blood cells. These cells are produced in the bone marrow, ... Show more

Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects lymphocytes and the lymphocyte producing cells
in the body. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell. When patients have lymphoma some of
the lymphocytes do not work properly. Sometimes they aren t developed fully ( immature), they
divide in an abnormal way, or they don t die when they should. The abnormal lymphocytes can
build up in the lymph nodes, causing them to swell, enlarge and form a lump.
In Hodgkin lymphoma, the abnormal cells are Reed Sternberg cells. Reed Sternberg cells are white

Other lymphomas without these cells is non Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).

Solaris And Memento Analysis
Elizabeth Loftus is a psychological scientist who discusses memories, specifically false memories,
in her TED Talk How reliable is your memory? Ultimately, Loftus explains that it is possible to not
only have false memories, but it is also possible to feed people misinformation that in return alters
one s memory. This concept of false memories, and more broadly one s remembered past, is
evident in a few films we have studied in class. In both Solaris (Soderbergh) and Memento,
improving one s self knowledge was dependent on dealing with regret and guilt about one s
remembered past. Solaris follows the protagonist, Chris Kelvin, on his journey to the space
station with the goal of helping the scientists with an unspecified experience aboard the station.
Shortly after his arrival, Kelvin experiences the strange experience firsthand when his deceased
wife Rheya appears in the middle of the night. At first, Kelvin believes she is a figment of his
imagination, or perhaps a dream, but soon he discovers she is real. Kelvin quickly decides to rid
the station of Rheya by sending her off in a separate skyrocket; yet, to Kelvin s surprise Rheya
materializes again that next night. In contrast, the second timeRheya emerges, Kelvin decides not
to kill her, but rather begins to question her existence. It is argued that Solaris is able to
reconstruct deceased ones from the memories of the scientists aboard the station. This raises the
following question: are the duplicates materializing on the space station real people? Gordon has
an unwavering opinion that these creatures are not human, and thus, should be eradicated.
However, Kelvin has already resurrected his love with the duplicate of Rheya, and believes he
could be happier living a life with her. Surprisingly, it is Rheya that indicates she is not the
original woman Kelvin is remembering, or dreaming about. Instead, she is a reconstruction of
Kelvin s remembered past of her. Kelvin s memories dictate how the duplicate Rheya speaks,
moves, listens, and feels. This is problematic because as Loftus explains, memory can be
unreliable. To improve his own self knowledge Kelvin must deal with the guilt of having hurt
Rheya by leaving her and potentially leading her to

How Early Islamic Caliphates
The first three caliphates to rule after the death of Muhammad shaped the foundation for the growth
and development of the early Islamic community. The goal of the caliphates was to unify the
Islamic people and spread the word of Islam as far as they could. Although their main goal was the
same, the Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, and the Abbasid caliphate went about this
goal in separate ways. The different techniques used by each caliphate was dependent on the
individual caliphs. The treatment of groups of peoples inside the empires also differed between the
caliphates. The Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, and the Abbasid Caliphate each
employed styles of rule unique to their empires.
The Rashidun Caliphate was the first of the Islamic caliphates established after Muhammad s death.
After his death, the early Islamic community was almost torn apart due to a crisis of control. The
Rashidun caliphate had the important job of keeping the community together and growing without
the Prophet. Because of the Arab Islamic conquests, the Muslims gained large amounts of territory;
however, the Arab Muslim leaders did not have the experience that was needed to rule an empire.
In The Rise of Islam, Matthew Gordon writes, a fundamental challenge for the caliphs, their
governors, and the Arab military elite was to understand how large scale agrarian economies
functioned (28). In order to rule an empire, the authority of the Rashidun caliphs had to be
legitimized.

How Beautiful are the Feet from Messiah
George Frederic Handel
As Mr. Handel in his oratorio s greatly excells all other Composers I am acquainted with, So in the
famous one, called The Messiah he seems to have excell d himself. Bishop of
Elphin 1742
George Frederic Handel was born on February 23, 1685, in Halle, Brandenburg (which is now
Germany), into a wealthy, religious family. He spent 4 years travelling in Italy 1706 10, from
where he met many of the finest Italian musicians of that period, such as Alessandro Scarlatti and
Arcangelo Corelli. He moved to London in 1710, where he remained until his death on April 14
1759.
Handel was greatly influenced by the Italian style, with much of his vocal work being written in
Italian, including all of his operas, countless arias and many of his early oratorios.
However, after the release of the satirical Beggar s Opera, by John Gay, in early 1728, the
popularity of Italian Opera began to decline, because Gay s work s prevalent theme ridiculed the
stereotypical plots in Italian opera.
English audiences were also growing ever more dissatisfied with their entertainment being in
Italian, a language they did not speak, sung by singers of whose morals they disapproved. In spite
of all this, Handel continued to compose Italian operas until 1741, even co managing an Italian
opera company in London, until it went bankrupt in 1737.
Oratorios soon began to grow in popularity: large scale concert pieces for solo voices, chorus

apparently to try to keep their scheme secret. The indictment accuses Mr. Kozlowski and Mr.
Swartz of enterprise corruption, a charge often used in Mafia prosecutions. The authorities accuse
Mr. Kozlowski and Mr. Swartz of stealing $170 million from the company itself and reaping $430

What Is The Similarities Between Ishmael And Moby Dick
There are a number of similarities between Ahab and Ishmael at the beginning of the novel,
including their beginning the journey on the Pequod in search of the unknowable. For Ahab, that
means hunting the elusive Moby Dick. For Ishmael, that means voyaging to unexplored shores
of distant lands, the terra incognita. For both men, the journey is more than simple adventure, it
s an existential quest driven by the need to satisfy a distressed mind. Ishmael is plagued by a
damp, drizzly November in my soul (18), which he hopes to assuage through travel. He explains
that he is tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote (22), and it is through gaining
knowledge and experience that he hopes to fill in the blanks of his existence. We know that
Ahab, too, is unwell, as he remains hidden away after their immediate departure. When he finally
emerges from his cabin in Chapter 28, it s with a crucifixion in his face; in all the nameless regal
overbearing dignity of some mighty woe (109), setting the stage for his madness to further evolve.
While Melville doesn t name their respective afflictions, modern sensibilities would suggest that
both men suffer from some form of depression. Even while Melville teases readers with hints of
mental anguish to come, the first scene in which Ishmael and Ahab both appear is a remarkably
agreeable one. As the Pequod sails into unseasonably spring like weather, both men are caught up in
the pleasantness. Ishmael describes the

Looking Back at the OJ Simpson Case
The numerous ups, downs, and controversies surrounding the life of former star football player
OJ Simpson have led to a strangely divided collective memory of the man. The term collective
memory refers to a shared pool of information held in the memories of a group from aggregated
individual recollections. The story of OJ Simpson s life is both sad and puzzling after
overcoming adversity to become one of the best football players of all time and a public figure
beloved by many Simpson would go on to put himself in a worse situation than ever before.
Orenthal James Simpson otherwise known as O.J. Simpson or The Juice was born July 9, 1947 in
San Francisco, California. O.J. Simpson had a challenging childhood. When O.J. was two years...

In the years after his retirement from the NFL Simpson enjoyed a somewhat successful acting
career and also became a sports caster. Simpson started his career in acting even before he
finished playing football. Simpson had a part in the television series Roots and had parts in
movies such as The Klansman and The Towering Inferno. After football Simpson continued his
film career playing in Capricorn One, Back to the Beach, and the Naked Gun Trilogy. OJ even
started his own production company in 1979 called Orenthal Productions. NBC was considering
TV series starring Simpson but canceled the project when OJ was arrested. In addition to his
acting and film career OJ Simpson was a commentator for Monday Night Football and The NFL
on NBC in the mid 80s. OJ Simpson up until this point was well liked figure by the public and
why not he was a charismatic NFL legend. Simpson s likeability led to his roles on television
and TV as well as a number of endorsement deals and business ventures. Of all of his
endorsements none were more iconic than his commercials for Hertz which showed him running
through airports and jumping over things as if he was back on the gridiron. Simpson was also a
spokesman for Pioneer Chicken, take out fried chicken restaurant. In addition to being the
spokesman for Pioneer Chicken Simpson also owned two of Pioneer s 270 franchises. OJ endorsed

The Department Of Juvenile Services
History The Department of Juvenile Services changed from the Department of Juvenile Justice to
make it sound less punitive. The Department of Juvenile service (DJS) Violence Prevention
Initiative (VPI) integrates intensive supervision and treatment services to prevent juvenile
homicides, non fatal shootings and victimization. (VPI standards procedure page 2). Their vision is
to promote successful youth, groom strong leaders and provide a safe community. DJS initiated
VPI supervision in Baltimore City after high criminal rates, they expanded the program statewide. It
has been a great amount of evidence that supports the effectiveness of The VPI unit at DJS:
Statistics shows that the number of juvenile homicides has decreased 46% statewide from the year
2007. The non fatal shootings of juveniles in Baltimore City has decreased tremendously, the lowest
level in 30 years. Department of Juvenile Services implemented the method to ensure the earliest
possible intervention in any sustained delinquency or violation of conditions of probation by VPI
youth, by this means diminishing risk for behaviors that could result in crimes of violence. The
program is being funded through the state government. There has been many past issues with the
state s budget, but they make sure they provide knowledgeable resources to provide for the youth
so they can obtain the proper treatment. Purpose and services Department of Juvenile Services is a
driven agency that connects youth too many

Hatshepsut s Accomplishments
For over 22 years, the most powerful man in all of ancient Egypt was, in fact, a woman. That
woman was Pharaoh Hatshepsut, one of the first female pharaohs in Egypt s long history. During
her reign she built great monuments both in Egypt and Nubia. Egypt also thrived while she ruled,
proving that she was a strong and powerful leader even though she was a woman instead of a man.
Hatshepsutwas an amazing woman who had some incredible accomplishments.
Rising to Power
One of Hatshepsut s greatest accomplishments was simply becoming pharaoh as a woman. Since her
birth, Hatshepsut had always had some power. Her parents were Thutmose I and his main wife,
Ahmose, so she was part of the royal family (Ross). Then, she was married to her half brother,

Analysis Of If Black English IsnT A Language Then Tell Me...
James Baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, and poet. In the essay If Black
English Isn t a language, then tell me what is? James Baldwin asserts an argument as how
Language is like the ID of people, it can identify, as well as define people. Due to the
characteristics it has, it can be defined as a persuasive essay. It attempts to persuade the readers
to be on the writer s side, or accept the point of view of the author. This significant essay was
written in the 1970s. It indicates how language is not merely used for communication, but can be
used to classify people with different social backgrounds and class. Baldwin used examples like
how people in England talk make sense to their own people and not everyone else. He used this
example to illustrate his thought of why Black English is not recognized as a real language. In
addition, he thought that the white man never meant to teach the Blacks English. That is also the
reason why he thinks black children are lost, and can t be taught by people who despise them. The
inability of the salves to interact with each other made them create black English. Which was their
own means of communication. Baldwin s article has a lot to say about the impact that language has
on African Americanpeople and his positive approach is supported with strong historical events, and
the author s anger behind this writing makes it stronger. However, the assumption about education
makes the article weak, because it is not well

Risk Management Case Study Greenpoint
Greenpoint through the years
In 1990 over 100 stakeholders in the Greenspoint area petitioned the state to develop a 12 square
mile management district. In order to help spur Houston s growth the greater Greenspoint District
was formed in 1991 by the Texas Legislature. (District) Many business owners sought the newly
developed district to build or expand their businesses. Soon after real estate, schools parks, and
public buildings popped up over the 12 square miles of Greenspoint. In 1994 the crime wave of the
late 80 s that plagued the area was no more and a major development was soon going to open the
area to more people and businesses. The Greater Greenspoint Redevelopment Authority saw a great
development in businesses, real estate, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With thousands of people being displaced by Katrina, Houston welcomed the refugees to the city.
Greenspoint was one of the locations where the refuges would settle until they could go back home
but many of the refuges made the Greenspoint area their permanent home. A few months after
Katrina, the Houston natives were quarreling with the Louisiana natives. Soon the schools, parks,
and other areas became battlegrounds for settling issues. Because of the major change in
population many of the surrounding apartments became Section 8 housing in order to
accommodate the influx of so many families trying to survive. With the new ease of being able to
procure a palace to stay more low income families made their way to Greenspoint. The old
Greenspoint families and businesses that once enjoyed and gave wealth to the district were now
moving out farther north. Not long after, Houston was also victim to a natural disaster. The storm
tore apart areas in the city including Greenspoint. Due to its proximity to the overflowed
Greenpoint Bayou, Greenspoint was in dire need of repair. As it happens more often than not, the
low income families bring with them anger, desperation, and uncertainty, among other

Florida Californi A Great Impact On The Most Diverse...
California has been known for it s beautiful golden coast, stunning mountain ranges, and the always
wonderful sunny weather. The state houses the largest and second most diverse population of
people in the United States. The large diversity of the people could be contributed by the vast
differing landscapes that stretch across the state. Northern Californiain particular, is home to a
variety of enormous mountains, mountain ranges, beautiful lakes, and forever flowing rivers.
People come from all over to witness these breathtaking views. As for Southern California the
alluring beaches, rolling grass valleys, and various other attractions make for a significant
difference to northern California. The difference in environments has a great impact on the type of
people that live in each region. An individual s race, ethnicity, hobbies, political views, job, etc. all
can have an impact on what area of California they live in. Some people, including myself enjoy a
lot of outdoor activities that fit well in Northern California areas such as hunting, hiking,
snowboarding, etc. Meanwhile, people that live in southern California may have much different
outdoor hobbies due to the change in climate. The contrast between north and south almost creates
a split in the state. In 1941, the proposal of a new state, named the State of Jefferson would take
the very upper most part of California and the southern most part of Oregonto create a 51st state.
Today, that proposal has

Essay on Health and Social Care P3, M2 and D1
P3 There is many different strategies that can be used to minimise the effect(s) of challenging
behaviour in health and social care. Some of these strategies have a bigger impact on children,
depending on the children(s) behaviour. Such strategies include; Naughty chair, speaking (feeling
and emotion), 2 warnings, these are all sanctions, which are implemented in home and schools,
such as the 3 warnings. When the children/childhas done the sanction appropriate for the
behaviour a reward should be put in place, such as a reward chart, meaning to stars and you get a
bag of sweets, or a day out etc.
Having these sanctions in place along with the reward chart, means that the child will be told off,
and have time to reflect on their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the praise system to work, you will need to have a system that will work for the specific child
/children you will be using it on, whether at home or in schools.
D1 Using the naughty chair and reward sanction works is because you re taking them out of the
situation they were in and letting them reflect on their actions. When the child is put on the chair
the adult should be persistent, the longer the child plays up and the amount of time is restarted
the child will eventually give up, say sorry and then get the reward for doing time . Over time the
child will get so bored of being on the chair therefore meaning the amount of time will be
decreased, and if persistent in time the child won t play up as much as they did at the beginning.
Using the naughty char sanction is a better way of telling the child off, but in a way that they
understand why there on the chair, and for how long. If you were to send a child to their bedroom
or a separate room because of the naughty behaviour isn t teaching he child anything, especially
when they don t know how long or why they have being sent to the specific room. This could make
the child play up more as they would be upset, sometimes when children are upset they will tend to
play up, therefore meaning the naughty

  • 2. Induction By David Hume Induction is a form of reasoning in which the premises of an argument support the conclusion, David Hume (1711 1776), in his book A Treatise of Human Nature of induction, wrote; instances of which we have had no experience resemble those of which we have had experience (pp. 89) [1]. Adamson (1999) wrote that evidence shows that induction was first scrutinised in the late 17th and early 18th century, when contemporary views of the world were questioned, near the end of the scientific revolution [2]. Chalmers (1999), continues, stating that the recognition of the problem of induction was the starting point for a sceptical attack of a large domain of accepted beliefs and opinions that are ordinarily taken to be knowledge , showing the impact philosophical questioning had on a diverse range of belief systems [3]. David Hume is recognised as one of the first philosophers to question the validity of induction, and the father of The Problem of Induction , a lasting philosophical question. He began by doubting the ability and validity of a posteriori knowledge to demonstrate causality. Hume speculated whether induction provides reliable evidence, and whether it is rational for us to believe inductive knowledge if the basis is not objective, and whether we can rationally justify beliefs that stem from the unobserved (Hume, pp. 193 4) [4], a rational being would not trust conclusions drawn from the uncertain. Hume acknowledges that humans instinctively use induction, through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This movie was the first to many of his famous ones, such as Dumb and Dumber, Batman Forever, The Cable Guy, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Politics And The Effect In George Orwell s Writing Politics and the effect in writing Orwell s statement that language becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts in fact is true in our language in more recent times because of various uses such as propaganda and other techniques such as glittering generalities, transfer, card stacking, the band wagon. Although these effect writing and one s opinions, other powerful technique authors may use in writing include effective word choice and text along with photographs in political cartoons. Through today s language, once politics are involved, one tends to become ugly and even foolish at times. How does one detect propaganda? Although this question is complex, and difficult to end at one conclusion, there are ways that a reader can indeed detect propaganda. Many of today s authors often try and influence what the reader is reading and in many cases in a political way. • 8. The Seven Dispensations In The Bible The seven dispensations are not explicitly stated in the Bible. Instead they are a Biblical interpretation that divides the history of mankind into seven different categories. There are different versions or interpretations of the seven dispensations, but I will explain the general understanding that is commonly accepted. The seven dispensations are: the dispensation of innocence, the dispensation of conscience, the dispensation of human government, the dispensation of promise, the dispensation of law, the dispensation of grace, and the millennial kingdom of Christ. The first dispensation, innocence, begins with the creation of man (Genesis 1:27) and ends with the fall of man (Genesis 3). This dispensation is called innocence because Adam, the first man, was created innocent and without knowledge of good and evil. Adam was given the authority to rule over everything of the earth, under one condition: Adam and Eve must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.... • 9. Comparison Of Authority Figures In Romeo And Juliet And... Comparison of Authority Figures in Romeo and Juliet and Shakespeare in Love Stoppard s satirical movie, Shakespeare in Love, is a play on Shakespeare s tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard places Shakespeare himself into a relationship with Viola De Lesseps, that resembles the relationship between Romeo and Juliet. Stoppard incorporates countless parallels into the film from Shakespeare s love story, including the character development of major authority figures. The prince and the queen, Capulet and Viola s father, and the Friar and the Priest are all figures of authority and parallel between the two works; Stoppard gave his cast similarities to Shakespeare s characters, but they also varied in some aspects. Stoppard s decision to both keep some and change some character attributes of these authority figures helps contribute and develop the ending of the movie, just as Shakespeare s character developments contributed to the outcome of his plays. In Romeo and Juliet, the supreme authority is the Prince; he is the governing individual in Verona, Italy where the setting takes place, just as Queen Elizabeth is shown as the highest authority in England in Shakespeare in Love. One key difference between these leaders in the stories is that the Prince is mostly concerned with keeping the peace, while the Queen also appreciates and respects Viola s risk and is excited by Viola and her relationship with Shakespeare. The Queen is exhilarated by the whole ordeal. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Meanwhile, the fire is warming and inviting, denoting that the fire is good and seen as necessary. The two different elements can be seen as her feelings for both John and Steven, the fire being Steven and the storm being John. Steven would be the fire because it is there, but burns and leaves quickly: [i]t was good of you to come, Steven . (58) This showing that though Steven is at Ann s house, he will only be there momentarily, Steven is just a fling, he will burn out and leave Ann. John is the storm and cold, because no matter where she goes, it is always there. It shows that John wants to be with Ann forever, the storm is described as being boring and intense, which is how Ann describes John. Though John is boring, his love for Ann burns very intensely, even if she cannot see it herself. After Ann sleeps with John the fire and cold switch meanings. As Ann awakens in a dream like state to see John looking over her and Steven, the fire is described as the snow was before: [t]he whips of fire still flicked and coiled, but now suddenly they were the swift little snakes that this afternoon she had watched twist and shiver across the snow. (67) Ann did no longer wants to be warmed by the fire, because it reminds her of what she has done and shone a light to reveal the knowledge she would try to forget, and move past with John by her side. Interestingly, Butch was no mean robber, but someone full of charm. The story of the group was made more interesting with the addition of Butch s constant partner in crime, Sundance Kid. Originally named Robert LeRoy, Butch changed his name after working with Mike Cassidy, an infamous cattle and horse rustler. The name Butch was taken from Robert s brief stint as a butcher in town. He joined Mike in raiding cattle in Colorado and Utah. It was also Mike who taught the young Butch on how to shoot dead center within fifty paces. A concussion is defined as a type of traumatic brain injurycaused by a blow to the head ( NFL Concussions ). The debate on who is truly responsible for the injury s increasing presence in the NFL continues to be disputed in the league today. Almost every athlete that remains connected to the NFL has a family that relies on them for income and support. By discerning the safety of its very own employees, of which the league would cease to exist without, the NFL is putting the lives and welfare of the players and their families at risk. PointNet PointNet [3] is a new type of neural network which directly consumes point clouds and well respects the permutation invariance of the points in the input image. PointNet, shown in Fig. 1, provides a unified architecture for applications ranging from object classification, and part segmentation, to scene semantic parsing from pointclouds. It directly takes point clouds as input and outputs either class labels for the entire input, or per point segment labels for each point of the input. PointNet has three main modules, which we briefly discuss below. 2 1.1.1. Symmetric Function (Max Pooling Layer Module A): The first key module is the max pooling layer, used as a symmetric function to aggregate information from all the points, and to make a model invariant to input permutations. To achieve this, a general function is defined on a point set by applying a symmetric function on the transformed elements in the set: f(x1, . . . , xn) ≈ g(h(x1), . . . , h(xn)), (1) In the above equation, f : 2RN в†’ R, h : RN в†’ RK and g : RK Г— В· В· В· Г— RK в†’R is a symmetric function. h is approximated by a multi layer perceptron (mlp) network and g by a composition of a single variable function and a max pooling function. • 36. Solaris And Memento Analysis Elizabeth Loftus is a psychological scientist who discusses memories, specifically false memories, in her TED Talk How reliable is your memory? Ultimately, Loftus explains that it is possible to not only have false memories, but it is also possible to feed people misinformation that in return alters one s memory. This concept of false memories, and more broadly one s remembered past, is evident in a few films we have studied in class. In both Solaris (Soderbergh) and Memento, improving one s self knowledge was dependent on dealing with regret and guilt about one s remembered past. Solaris follows the protagonist, Chris Kelvin, on his journey to the space station with the goal of helping the scientists with an unspecified experience aboard the station. Shortly after his arrival, Kelvin experiences the strange experience firsthand when his deceased wife Rheya appears in the middle of the night. At first, Kelvin believes she is a figment of his imagination, or perhaps a dream, but soon he discovers she is real. Kelvin quickly decides to rid the station of Rheya by sending her off in a separate skyrocket; yet, to Kelvin s surprise Rheya materializes again that next night. In contrast, the second timeRheya emerges, Kelvin decides not to kill her, but rather begins to question her existence. It is argued that Solaris is able to reconstruct deceased ones from the memories of the scientists aboard the station. This raises the following question: are the duplicates materializing on the space station real people? Gordon has an unwavering opinion that these creatures are not human, and thus, should be eradicated. However, Kelvin has already resurrected his love with the duplicate of Rheya, and believes he could be happier living a life with her. Surprisingly, it is Rheya that indicates she is not the original woman Kelvin is remembering, or dreaming about. Instead, she is a reconstruction of Kelvin s remembered past of her. Kelvin s memories dictate how the duplicate Rheya speaks, moves, listens, and feels. This is problematic because as Loftus explains, memory can be unreliable. The goal of the caliphates was to unify the Islamic people and spread the word of Islam as far as they could. Although their main goal was the same, the Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, and the Abbasid caliphate went about this goal in separate ways. The different techniques used by each caliphate was dependent on the individual caliphs. The treatment of groups of peoples inside the empires also differed between the caliphates. The Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, and the Abbasid Caliphate each employed styles of rule unique to their empires. The Rashidun Caliphate was the first of the Islamic caliphates established after Muhammad s death. After his death, the early Islamic community was almost torn apart due to a crisis of control. The Rashidun caliphate had the important job of keeping the community together and growing without the Prophet. Because of the Arab Islamic conquests, the Muslims gained large amounts of territory; however, the Arab Muslim leaders did not have the experience that was needed to rule an empire. In The Rise of Islam, Matthew Gordon writes, a fundamental challenge for the caliphs, their governors, and the Arab military elite was to understand how large scale agrarian economies functioned (28). How Beautiful are the Feet from Messiah George Frederic Handel As Mr. Handel in his oratorio s greatly excells all other Composers I am acquainted with, So in the famous one, called The Messiah he seems to have excell d himself. Bishop of Elphin 1742 George Frederic Handel was born on February 23, 1685, in Halle, Brandenburg (which is now Germany), into a wealthy, religious family. He spent 4 years travelling in Italy 1706 10, from where he met many of the finest Italian musicians of that period, such as Alessandro Scarlatti and Arcangelo Corelli. He moved to London in 1710, where he remained until his death on April 14 1759. Handel was greatly influenced by the Italian style, with much of his vocal work being written in Italian, including all of his operas, countless arias and many of his early oratorios. However, after the release of the satirical Beggar s Opera, by John Gay, in early 1728, the popularity of Italian Opera began to decline, because Gay s work s prevalent theme ridiculed the stereotypical plots in Italian opera. English audiences were also growing ever more dissatisfied with their entertainment being in Italian, a language they did not speak, sung by singers of whose morals they disapproved. Ishmael is plagued by a damp, drizzly November in my soul (18), which he hopes to assuage through travel. He explains that he is tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote (22), and it is through gaining knowledge and experience that he hopes to fill in the blanks of his existence. We know that Ahab, too, is unwell, as he remains hidden away after their immediate departure. When he finally emerges from his cabin in Chapter 28, it s with a crucifixion in his face; in all the nameless regal overbearing dignity of some mighty woe (109), setting the stage for his madness to further evolve. While Melville doesn t name their respective afflictions, modern sensibilities would suggest that both men suffer from some form of depression. Even while Melville teases readers with hints of mental anguish to come, the first scene in which Ishmael and Ahab both appear is a remarkably agreeable one. As the Pequod sails into unseasonably spring like weather, both men are caught up in the pleasantness. Ishmael describes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the essay If Black English Isn t a language, then tell me what is? James Baldwin asserts an argument as how Language is like the ID of people, it can identify, as well as define people. Due to the characteristics it has, it can be defined as a persuasive essay. It attempts to persuade the readers to be on the writer s side, or accept the point of view of the author. This significant essay was written in the 1970s. It indicates how language is not merely used for communication, but can be used to classify people with different social backgrounds and class. Baldwin used examples like how people in England talk make sense to their own people and not everyone else. He used this example to illustrate his thought of why Black English is not recognized as a real language. In addition, he thought that the white man never meant to teach the Blacks English. That is also the reason why he thinks black children are lost, and can t be taught by people who despise them. The inability of the salves to interact with each other made them create black English. Which was their own means of communication. Baldwin s article has a lot to say about the impact that language has on African Americanpeople and his positive approach is supported with strong historical events, and the author s anger behind this writing makes it stronger. However, the assumption about education makes the article weak, because it is not well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the praise system to work, you will need to have a system that will work for the specific child /children you will be using it on, whether at home or in schools. D1 Using the naughty chair and reward sanction works is because you re taking them out of the situation they were in and letting them reflect on their actions. When the child is put on the chair the adult should be persistent, the longer the child plays up and the amount of time is restarted the child will eventually give up, say sorry and then get the reward for doing time . Over time the child will get so bored of being on the chair therefore meaning the amount of time will be decreased, and if persistent in time the child won t play up as much as they did at the beginning. Using the naughty char sanction is a better way of telling the child off, but in a way that they understand why there on the chair, and for how long. If you were to send a child to their bedroom or a separate room because of the naughty behaviour isn t teaching he child anything, especially when they don t know how long or why they have being sent to the specific room.
